𖤐Summary: Your daughter Iris had a project for her school and it was ‘Who is your Hero’ and picks someone close to her
————
Tumblr media
————
"Mama."
Y/n heard the tiny voice of her 7 year-old daughter Iris. She smiles and turns to look at her daughter.
"Yes, baby?" Y/n asks.
"We're doing a project for school, called 'My Hero' and I decided to do daddy, can you help me?" Iris asks.
"Okay, what do you need me to do?" Y/n says, wiping her hands and placing her hands on her hips walking to her daughter.
"What did daddy do?"
"For the military?" Iris nods in response. "Well, why don't I help you with your paper first, okay?"
"Okay, mama."
"Alright let me see what you got."
This was a week ago, Y/n helped Iris with her paper for hours and kept the project a secret from John.
"My Hero is my daddy, John Bravo Six Price. My daddy was part of the Military as a Captain, he is also the member of the British SAS. Sometimes my daddy is away for months, and I miss every time he leaves, but he tells me he'll come back safe and he always brings me a souvenir from his adventures." She digs in her backpack and pulls out a few things to show off.
"This is a picture of my daddy and some of his work friends, this one is Ghost and this one is Gaz." She puts them back and then grabs a few things that Price has brought back for her.
"This is a mini pyramid, when he went to Egypt. This is a tin art piece from Mexico, they traditionally have art of landscapes of them and pretty flowers. And this is stein from Germany, they usually put their drinks in it." She puts everything back in her bag.
"My daddy is currently in Russia right now and is coming back today, I am excited to see my daddy, and he is my hero."
"Wow! Thank you Iris for sharing, a round of applauds for Iris," her teacher says.
--------
At the end of the day Iris had walked outside to see her mom standing in the car rider line.
"MAMA!"
"Hi, baby," Y/n bends down kissing her daughter's temple, Y/n noticed her paper in her hands. "What's this baby?" Y/n asked.
"My paper for my hero, I got a 100% and a gold star," Iris smiles.
"That's great baby," Y/n kissed her daughter's temple again, before they walked to Y/n's car.
"Mama, is daddy coming home today?"
"Yep," Y/n says, buckling her daughter in her car seat.
----------
Once Y/n pulled into the driveway and helped her daughter out of her car seat they go inside and Y/n placed Iris's paper on the fridge, so when John comes in, he'll see it.
--------
Iris and Y/n played some board games before Price came home. Price was stuck in traffic and just wanted to go home to his family, Y/n smiled at her daughter who was still trying to understand the rules of the game.
"Honey you move 4 spaces."
"But when I play with Anna, she says I'm suppose to move 8 times."
"Why?" Y/n asked with a confused look and a slight giggle.
"Because four plus four equals eight."
"Honey, you're not adding anything. What you roll is what you roll, you rolled a four so you move four places."
"Okay, mama," Iris says with no more argument.
"Daddy has finally arrived," John says as he comes through the front door, Iris pops her head up and Y/n looks over her shoulder at her husband.
"DADDY!" Iris yells, running towards him. He drops his stuff and picks her up.
"How is my baby girl, huh?" He asks Iris kissing her cheek.
"Good," Y/n gets up off the floor and walks over to him, her hands running over his shoulders and hugging his neck.
"And how is mommy doing?" He asked in a bit of a seductive tone before kissing Y/n's lips.
"Just fine." She says to him.
"Oh daddy, look," Iris wiggled from his hold and ran to the fridge, pulling the paper off the fridge.
"What's this?" He asks her, looking at the 100% with his usual big smile and then reading 'My Hero'. "Oh...I remember doing a project like this when I was younger, my hero was Aunt," he smiles and bends down to his daughter. "Who was yours, baby?" He asks.
"Read it daddy," she giggles and hands him the paper.
"My hero is my..." Price looks at it thinking maybe he was reading it wrong. "My daddy...Captain John Bravo Six Price." He reads the papers, tears wanting to fall from his eyes but he held them, choking on some of the words.
Iris hated seeing her father so upset...The last time she's seem him upset is when her grandpa passed away. Iris took her small hand wiping her daddy's tears that did soon fall on his cheeks.
The sight melted Y/n's heart. Price's big hand cupped hers and kissed her knuckles.
"Thank you, baby," he says, pulling her into the biggest and longest hug. "This deserves to be framed," he jokes and looks at his wife who has been crying since Price started reading the paper. He pulls her into a hug as well.
----------
9:00PM
Price couldn't help but constantly re-reading the paper, he was laying in bed, Y/n was doing her nightly routine and Iris was asleep peacefully in her bed.
"John?"
"Why did she pick me?" He asked.
"Because she loves you," Y/n says, crawling on the bed.
She cups his face and kissed his lips. "Did she tell you, she was going to pick me?"
"Yes...but...she loves you...she loves the little things you bring back for her, she took one of your bucket hats to school because she missed you so much. You are her hero, Price and you always will be, I hope you know that."
----------
Price couldn't sleep, he looks at the ceiling and then at his sleeping wife next to him, he caresses her face kissing her forehead and getting out of the bed. He puts on a t-shirt and headed down the hall
He goes to the kitchen, he notices the light on in the kitchen and then seeing a little someone with a glass in her hands.
"Iris...baby, what are you doing up?" He asked.
"I can't sleep, and I was thirsty," Iris says, looking up at him, but he bends down to her level. She walks to him, his arms wrapping around her as she was still holding her glass of water.
"Come on, baby," he rubs her side and kiss her temple as she followed him back to her bedroom. He opens her bedroom door and she walks in, placing her glass on the nightstand and getting back into her bed but Price rests on her right side of her.
"Daddy."
"Yes?"
"Can you stay home, tomorrow?" Iris asked, looking at her daddy. She rolls on her side and plays with his dog tags.
"I can see," he says, placing his arm over her side rubbing her side again and patting her small leg.
Iris's eyes felt heavy, and she ended up falling asleep, Price looked to his right and looked down at his tired, sleeping daughter, he smiles kissing the top of her head.
He ends up falling asleep in Iris's bed, Y/n woke up to an empty bed and walked to her daughter's bedroom seeing a sleeping Price and Iris.
Price holding Iris and her face buried into his side. She smiles at her husband and baby girl, she walks in kissing his forehead and kissing Iris's temple.
--------
The next morning Y/n and Iris were in the kitchen and Price was still asleep in his daughter twin size bed. Iris's princess blanket draped over him.
Y/n pushed a mug of hot chocolate to Iris and Y/n stood next to Iris to help her with homework. Price had came out of his daughter's bedroom yawning and looking at his daughter and wife.
He kisses Y/n's neck and kisses Iris's forehead, he fixes himself some tea and leans over the counter watching his two girls.
Iris was writing down what Y/n was telling her, Y/n's right hand moved Iris's dirty blonde hair from her face, looking like the girl version of her father but the feminine features of her mother.
Price sees the paper on 'My Hero' on the counter and placed it back on the fridge, he kisses his daughter's temple and wife's temple before walking into the master bedroom and grabbing his phone.
He was going to fulfil his daughter's wishes and he will stay home today.

A heart to heart conversation and I am in love with you
"My gosh Sam stop calling me beautiful!!" You snapped. "Stop calling me beautiful! Stop calling me the prettiest girl you've ever seen, just stop!!" You yelled.
Sam was taken back by your angry outburst.
Chad, Tara, Quinn, Anika, and Mindy were also taken back.
You walked away still livid and angry and slammed the door to the room.
Sam sighed. She had no idea how to react.
"Sam", Tara said. "Just give her space to cool off. Okay?".
"Wow", said Mindy. "I have never seen (Y/n) yell at Sam like that ever". she said.
"Yeah". Said Anika.
"That was scary". Said Chad.
Quinn gave Sam a hug. "Just give (Y/n) some to cool down.
"Did I do something wrong guys?" Sam asked her sister and her best friends. "All I did was tell (Y/n) that shes beautiful". Sam started to tear up. She put her head on her hands as her sister and best friends went to comfort her. Sam wiped the tears from her eyes and said "That poor thing. Something must be troubling (Y/n). She must be in some kind of emotional distress. Did me calling her beautiful trigger her?". She asked.
"Its definitely possible". Said chad. "We'll stand by the door incase she wants to talk to us too. Maybe shes going through something".
After an hour Sam got up from the couch and said to Tara and her best friends "I'm gonna go talk to (Y/n)".
Sam walked to the bedroom door and knocked on the door. She opened it and saw you just sitting on the side of the bed.
"Hi". You said.
"Hi babe". Sam said. She sat on the side of the bed next to you.
Tara, Chad, Mindy, Anika, and quinn stood by the door.
You sighed. "I'm sorry I yelled at you. Its just", you said to sam. You started to cry. "Im extremely insecure! I'm nowhere the look of a model I dont even think im pretty I dont know how to feel about myself because-"
"Hey, hey, hey". Said Sam. "You're pretty. Very pretty. Have you seen you lately? You have the most beautiful long hair and the most beautiful hazel green eyes". Sam said to you.
"I don't! And I'm not!" You cried.
"(Y/n)" said Quinn. "Where's all this coming from?" She asked you.
"I was in a relationship for about 6 years way before I met you guys and Sam". You said.
Everyone looked at you and sat next to you and Sam.
"It was pure hell". You said. One minute she told me she respects me and the next minute she made my life hell. She was controlling. Manipulative. During that time I lived with her and her mom my ex girlfriend even had this look on her face and raised her hand to me". You said to everyone.
"What?" Quinn said in disbelief.
"That is awful". Said Anika.
"Do you want me, Anika, and Quinn to kick her ass? Because we will!" Said Tara.
Sam gave you the most safe and warmest hug ever. "Oh (Y/n). How did you end the relationship?" Sam asked.
"We got into a terrible argument. I walked away from her. She told not to walk away from her. I told her to never speak to me ever again and I blocked her number. My ex is very toxic to my mental health. My ex never gave me a compliment. Anything I did was never good enough for her. She made jokes about me that were hurtful and mean. She'd insult me with little verbal jabs whenever she could. And she never told me I'm beautiful. She made things so terrible that I had to block her number more than once. Even a crisis counselor had to come to the house. But once I ended that relationship I moved here. Got a great job too". You said.
"Well you know what?" Said Chad. "You're safe here with us. We've all got your back. We love having you around. And your ex blew it big time with you. Now it's our turn to show you how special you are to all of us". He said. He smiled.
You smiled. "Thank you guys for being here for me. I never told you guys about my ex because it triggers my anxiety". You said to everyone.
"You're very brave for sharing what you went through". Said Quinn.
"Its not easy to talk about past experiences but you did and I'm glad you shared it with us and told us about what you went through with your ex. Chad is right. Your ex blew it with you big time". Said Anika.
Mindy gave you a hug and said "You can count on is to always be here for you".
"Thank you guys. Can you give me and sam a minute please?" You asked.
"Yeah. Of Course". Said Tara. "And (Y/n)?"
"Yes Tara?" You said.
"You're a great friend. When you chased ghostface and had him running that was pretty bad ass". Said Tara. She smiled.
You giggled.
After Chad, Mindy, Tara, quinn, and Anika left and closed the door you sat closer to your girlfriend.
"So". You and your girlfriend Sam said at the same time.
"I'll go first". Said Sam. "If I triggered you in any way I am truly sorry. I didn't mean to trigger you baby. I just want you to know how beautiful you are". Sam said to you. "And that I am so deeply madly in love with you".
You smiled. "Oh Sam". You said lovingly to her. "Do you mean that?".
"I do". Said Sam.
"Even when my hair is wet from the shower?" You asked.
"Yes". Sam said to you.
"Even when im just in my football Jersey and sweatpants?" You asked sam.
"Yes". sam said to you.
"Sam". You said to her. "I'm not the best with words but trust me when I say that I am so in love with you. You make me feel beautiful. And safe". You said to Sam.
Sam held you tight. She looked deep in your hazel green eyes and kissed you so affectionately. You kissed her back and gave her a hug too. You've always loved her hugs.
"I love you". You said to your girlfriend.
"I love you too baby". Sam said to you. "Now let's go grab some lunch. I'm hungry".
You and sam were holding hands and everyone smiled at you and Sam. "Me and my girlfriend (Y/n) are gonna get lunch. Does anyone want anything from Jersey Mike's?" You asked.
"Bring us all back anything from there. We are hungry too". Said Mindy.
You nodded. "Okay".
"I'll be back. I'm gonna grab my purse". Sam said to you.
"Okay babe". You said to Sam. Sam gave you a kiss on the cheek and went to get her purse. She took her keys and purse with her and said "Ready".
Sam opened the door as she waited for you. "Thank you chad. Mindy. Quinn. Tara. Anika. For everything".
You walked out the door with Sam holding her hand.
And everytime you and Sam hold hands you feel comfort.

Hey do you any headcanons in Azula as a mother overall especially if she were to have more than one child? The post about Azula with a teenager has piqued my interest
Hello, anon!! Thanks for the ask!
I do have some headcanons!
Azula, no matter who her partner is, is terrified when she gets pregnant. Even before her baby is born, she's reading almost every parenting book known to man to prepare for the baby because she refuses to be caught off guard. If she and her partner adopt she still reads up on how to care for babies/little kids (depending on the age of the kid).
She would never admit it but she does always have a tiny hope when her kids are born/adopted that they're benders. Of course she doesn't get mad at them if they aren't or treat them any differently, but she does think it would be a nice thing to share with her child(ren).
She takes them to Ember Island every summer. While they're there, they all relax, even her. After her breakdown, she learned the value of taking mental health breaks and taking real time to relax and be with family. Since she absolutely doesn't want her kids to feel the same pressure she did, she makes it clear that while they're on Ember Island, they're just normal kids and they can do normal kid stuff. (It doesn't work out perfect all the time, one visit Azula had to come collect her oldest children because they got drunk at a party, but she is happy they felt relaxed)
Azula actively encourages her children to get involved in whatever hobbies they want. She only asks that it's safe and doesn't accidentally harm one of their siblings (e.x. one of her middle children made honey filled snacks and the family had to go to a healer because her oldest is very allergic to honey)
She does not stand for their nursery being far away from her. Ozai and Ursa had Zuko and Azula's nursery far away (Ursa hated this but Ozai ordered it which caused Ursa to spend multiple nights asleep on the nursery's floor) to prevent them from hearing the two when they cried. Azula demands her children's cribs are in her room so she can be there when they need her. A very servants try to talk her out of this, saying she'll want her own space, and they get their clothes burned in response.
Azula does not know how to do her own hair and she struggles with her first daughter's hair as well. So much so that when her eldest daughter is young, the girl runs away from her mom yelling that she's pulling her hair. After a year and a lot of training with her own hair, Azula starts to learn how to do different kinds of hairstyles. Only for her youngest children to say they don't want their hair put up.

Take It Out On Me
Tumblr media
Darkness. Some fear it, some bathe themselves in it. You were not one of those people, but here you were, drowning. The day had gone by as usual, taking care of your boys, spending time with your lover. Now, well, life had flip itself upside down.
The family was enjoying Space Hero’s, you cuddled against the rats side, your sons next to you. You couldn’t have asked for better. That was, until everything collapsed, quite literally. The walls, shaking with such force, you couldn’t tell if you were vibrating, or merely hallucinating.
As stones fell, show long forgotten, you rushed your sons to the nearest exit, Splinter opting to be left behind, foot soldiers trotting their way into your home. Some say time is no friend, this was true. It was drooling, slow. You saw how your sons were scared. For them and for their father. They tried many times to run back, but with a wave of your hand, you kept them by your side.
Everything seemed to be calm, the tunnels dark. Your only friend was the rhythmic drops of water. Thinking you were safe, you let your sons sit down, seeing how tired they were. Looking at the ground, running a hand through your hair, the dirt seemed to be moving? ‘Weird. I’m not doing anything’ Standing up quickly, raising your hands, forcibly shoving the turtles far from yourself. “Run my sons! And don’t look back!” Voice echoing throughout the tunnels, eyes wide as footsteps got louder by the second, dirt shaking hastily.
“Mom! We can leave you!” Raphael cried out, the others begging for you to come. “I said go!” You yelled, your eyes never leaving the turtles, watching as their figures became cloudy. One by one, the soldiers came, making their way to you, but never past. Their bodies, laying across the dirt floor, your breath heavy with anger. Screaming, that’s all that was heard. Not of the soldiers, but of you. A mother’s cry. One that could pierce the hearts of angels.
You fought, until there was nothing to stab, throw, punch. Nothing except the air. On your heels, you began to run. Your boys were safe, you just hoped your husband was too. “Yoshi!” Feet coming to a halt, rubble everywhere, almost quiet, except for the groans and sheath of metal.
Throughout your years, you’ve experienced chapters of history, but this? The scene before you, Splinter laying on the ground, battered and bloody, The Shredder, blade to the mutants throat, it torn something in you. “Get away from him!” You screamed, walls shaking underneath your breath.
The Shredder, deaf to your words, lifted his blade, swinging down onto his target, the feeling on flesh being pierced. Though, looking down, it wasn’t Hamato Yoshi against the blade, rather, it was you. “No one hurts my family.” Whimpering, you placed your hand on the blade, electricity shooting from your fingertips, to the armor dawning Oroku Saki. The last thing you heard, was the cries of your lover, pressure applied to your stomach.
Days, weeks, you were floating. You didn’t know where you were. You could hear voices, faint, but there. There was nothing to see, except the void. Afraid, you couldn’t move, couldn’t speak, yet you were screaming. Was this hell? Heaven? You didn’t know. You wanted to go home.
It stayed like this for days, a week maybe? Time was indifferent here. You couldn’t feel anything, so why were you shaking all of the sudden? “Y/n?” “Mom? Please, wake up.”
The shaking became violent, almost painful, and then, light. Groaning, you lifted your arms, cursing the light that pierced your vision. “MOM!” Came screams, weight sinking onto your chest and shoulders. Opening your eyes, your sons held onto you, tears evident on their green scales. “Mom you’re awake.” Donatello whimpered, his grip tightening onto your shirt. The turtles, dared not to let you go. “Dad never left your side.”
“Y-Yoshi?” Sputtering, you looked up, your husband looking down at your, fur wet, tail wrapped around your arm. “Watashi no ai. You saved us.” A weak smile dawned your pale lips, an arm wrapped around your sons, the other, reaching to caress your lovers fur. “It’s my job, darling. You know this.” A small chuckle escaped the rats mouth, placing a hand on your own. “We missed you.” “You have no idea.”

First friend
Eddie X reader
just a fluff/befriending drabble really.
reader is new in town and is invited to a party whoop. all that matters is Eddie.
warning. "smoking, drinking, swearing
word count: 1181
Tumblr media
Walking into the party you could smell the alcohol in the air. As you stood by the front door you couldn't help but feel a little out of place. Football players and cheerleaders filled most of the living room and you were wearing a metallica shirt with ripped jeans and red chucks.
You had been invited by one of the cheerleaders. kate something, you didn't remember her last name. You had decided to go mostly for the booz and to find a new dealer but you weren't opposed to making a new friend. This was your third new town in the last four years so you were used to how mean people can be to the new kid, and cheerleaders were one of the worst so you didn't have high hopes for the night.
You walked through the sea of stumbling teens and found the kitchen where it was a little less occupied, Just a few couples making out around the walls of the open space. A guy with long brown hair dressed like a punk.was standing at the island counter where the drinks and cups sat. He seemed to be focusing pretty hard on mixing the perfect drink as his rings clanked every bottle he picked up.
You were about to walk over and get a drink yourself when someone grabbed your arm and swung you around. “Y/N! You made it, how cool!” Kate greeted, already tipsy by the looks of her. She had a cup in hand as she dragged you to a group of people standing by the couches. “Hey everyone! This is Y/N, the new girl.” She introduced you to everyone.
You nodded and said hello to everyone, trying to project a nice attitude. You wanted to try making friends with a fair chance. “Hey, don't you live in the trailer park?” one of the guys had asked, You didn't know his name.
“Yeah, me and my mom.” you said.
The guy shook his head. “Damn, what a waste.” He laughed.
You cocked a brow and gave him a questioning look. “And that means?” great here it is, a dumb jock about to say some dumb shit you thought.
He glanced you up and down, a smirk plastered on his face. “Just that you're hot and all, but everyone knows not to touch trailer trash.” he joked and everyone laughed. Then he pointed to the kitchen and yelled out. “Right Eddie? Only freaks live in that park of yours!” you turn to see the same guy who was making a drink standing halfway out the back door to the porch.
He stepped back inside at the call of his name and the comment, a frown on his face. Before he could get a word out you chimed in. “yeah? Honestly I wanted to give you all a chance but you proved once again, Jocks are dicks.” you said casually with a shrug of your shoulders. Not wanting to give them a chance of getting another jab at you, you go out the back door, brushing past the taller metalhead.
You walked past the group of guys standing around the porch table passing a bowl around to the stairs. You sat on the bottom step, just wanting to take a minute before you walked home. You heard the door shut and the guys all welcome the guy, Eddie, and offer him the bowl.
You try to just ignore the group and pretend you weren't there, hoping they would do the same. Just when you thought you were safe a pair of dirty white sneakers were standing on the steps beside you. You scooted over to give them room to get past, but instead they sat down.
Eddie gave you a small smile as he got comfortable, resting his elbow on his knees. “Want a hit, or need one?”  He joked as he offered you a lit joint. “Those guys are assholes, but that was sick how you didn’t take any shit from them.” He complimented.
You gave him a small smile and took the small roll between your fingers. “Thanks.” you said and took a drag. You handed it back while exhaling. “Yeah I needed that.” you laugh softly.
Eddie took his own hit and nudged you with his shoulder. “ well if you're ever lookin, i'm your guy.” he says with a wide smile. “Plus I live nearby.” he noted.
You nodded in agreement. “That's true.” Well, you found a dealer. “At least I accomplished one thing I set out to do tonight?” he said.
Looking at you with a curious expression. “Oh yeah? And what are the other things you were hoping to accomplish tonight?” he questioned you, now leaning back on the steps with his legs stretched out in front of him. He offers you the joint again.
Taking it and hitting it you shrugged your shoulders. “Nothing really, just dumb stuff.” you tried to dismiss the topic.
Eddie however didn’t want to drop it just yet. “Oh c’mon, im harmless i promise.” he puts his hands up slightly to show how non threatening he is.
You passed the joint back for Eddie to finish. “Find a dealer, see where the chill spots are and maybe… make a friend.” your voice lowered at the last few words and you avoided eye contact, instead opting to look at the night sky.
There was a moment of silence before Eddie softly spoke. “I could be.” He said. “A friend ya know? I mean as long as you aren't scared to be seen with a freak.” When you looked back at him he wasn't looking at you. He was looking at the sky, smoke swirled around him in the moonlight. He turned to you after a moment though, a gentle expression on his face. “Plus, I know where some great chill spots are.” He joked.
You laughed with him, he made you feel comfortable. “I'd like that.” you said with a smile.
Abruptly Eddie stood up and in front of you, he held his hand out for you to grab. “Well how's about you come hang with me and my crew for a while and then i’ll walk you home?” he offered.
You laughed and took his hand. “Sure, maybe you could make me one of those fancy drinks you were mixing in there.” you joked.
Eddie grinned down at you then pulled you up, he towered over you. “Oh, so you noticed me in there, did ya?” he teased.
You pushed his shoulder gently. “Well you looked like you were mixing a potion, it's kinda hard not to notice a dork like that.” You teased back.
That made him laugh. “Oh you have no idea what kind of dork i am.” he informed you proudly. “But you can learn all that later, c’mon” He ushered you up the stairs to his group of friends.
The night might have started just how you figured it would, but it ended on meeting a cool metal head who you soon found out was in fact a huge dork.

Jenna Ortega Imagine - she gets protective of you and your newborn baby
"Who's ready to go home?" Jenna cooed as she carefully picked your tiny baby girl up into her arms. "Is my little angel ready to go home?"
You couldn't help but smile as you watched her with your little girl.
It's the most precious sight and one you've been impatiently waiting to see for a long while.
Your little girl just entered the world a couple of days ago and today, you finally get to go home from the hospital and you're overjoyed about it.
You know the visits from your family and friends will start pouring in soon and although you're excited about it, you're looking forward to just going home to recover and be with your two favorite girls in the world.
"Look who that is," Jenna grinned when she turned around and saw you staring at her and the baby. "It's mom!"
She walked back to your side and her heart melted over the sounds your little girl made as you brushed your fingers across her tiny ones.
"Ready to go home, my darling?"
"So ready."
You shared a sweet kiss before getting into the wheelchair with Jenna's help and the help of your nurse.
"What's the first thing you want to do when we get home?" Jenna asked as you made your way toward the doors of the hospital.
"Nap with my girls."
"That sounds wonderful. I can order us some takeout too." She offered.
"I'd like that." You replied and a smile pulled at Jenna's lips.
But it fell when the hospital doors opened and you were both met with the chaos coming from outside.
She heard her fans cheering excitedly for her and she saw the bright lights coming from the paparazzi as they snapped photos.
"Seriously?" She muttered quietly. "You just had our baby. It's not a red carpet premiere, it's my private life."
She sighed and carefully handed your little girl over to you, planning to go get the car to make things easier for you.
It'd be hard enough to make it to the car already but add making it through the swarm of overly excited fans and invasive paparazzi made it even more difficult.
But when everyone began to come towards the three of you, she started to panic.
"Hey, no! Everyone stay back!" She yelled as she stepped closer to you, acting as a shield for you and the baby.
You were freaked out, clutching your little girl against your chest with shaking hands.
You felt more vulnerable than ever before between your body having changed due to bringing your little girl into the world just two days ago and feeling the need to protect her with your life.
"It's okay." You comforted her as she fussed in your arms.
"Look, we need some space here! My wife and I are in very a vulnerable situation and we have a baby to care for. Please stay back and leave us alone." Jenna pleased.
The fans listened.
The paparazzi, however, did not.
They stepped forward, cameras practically in your faces.
This angered Jenna, bringing out her protective side more than ever.
"What did I just say!?" She yelled angrily. "I'm not joking. I will do whatever it takes to keep my girls safe. Back up, right now!"
They stepped back and Jenna breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Stay right here with her, please." She told the nurse, who stayed with you until Jenna put the car in park in front of you a moment later.
"I'm a little nervous." You said to Jenna as the paparazzi continued to snap pictures.
"Don't be, honey. I've got you. I'm going to keep you both safe, I promise." She said and helped you stand up.
She gently took the baby from you and put her into the car seat, strapping her in securely.
After, she helped you in and made sure you were safe and secure before getting into the car too.
"Let us leave! Move, please! Just leave us alone!" She said in annoyance.
All she wanted was to get you and the baby home, safe and sound.
And to her relief, everyone stepped back to let her out a moment later.
"And we are on our way." She smiled. "How are my girls?"
"Good, thanks to you."
"I'd do anything for you both, no matter what. I'll always protect you and keep you safe. I love you both so much."
"We love you too, baby." You said as you looked at your little girl in adoration.
"Alright, home we go. The rest of our lives begins now." She grinned, feeling so proud and so in love with her little family.

Hey there, I just came here to vent a bit.
So basically, I'll just recap what's going on at home. I won't specify my age, but I am between 11 to 15 years old. My mom and dad had an arranged marriage (it's reasonably normal from what I know where I live) and have always had marital problems. My dad is also a smoker, a habit which my mom /detests/, and he also smokes substances such as weed pretty often. My mom is a little bit unstable emotionally, she's never been diagnosed with anything, but she tends to have extreme mood swings. I can remember them fighting even when I was way younger, 4 or 5 years old maybe, but I don't remember anything from before that age range, other than small flashbacks.
My mother also used to hit me, and again, physically punishing children is also sort of normal here.
Anyways, since the pandemic started, things have been getting... Heated, to say the least. It's been a slow descent of my dad getting worse and worse with his smoking. My mom doesn't like that, but now they fight more openly in front of me.
To be quite frank, I hate my parents. My mom comes running to me for comfort, and is always venting to me.
For example, around a week ago, on Saturday night, my mom fought with my dad, it was 8 pm, and her and I were getting ready to go downstairs in our apartment complex, for a walk or for me to spend time with some friends if they were downstairs. She was fighting with my dad while I was changing my clothes, and as soon as I came out of my room, she started yelling at me. After we left our house, she was yelling at me the whole elevator ride. She said I had the *my dad's last name* blood. She said some pretty hurtful things, but I can't remember it, it was all a blur. After we reached the ground floor, she started taking rounds around the apartment, and I sneaked into the staircase of the block I live in. I climbed to the second or third floor, and cried. I just cried. It hurt, and everything piled on top of each other and I hated everything so so much. Throughout this i was on this discord server of people I had met via a manga, and they were the ones who helped me actually realise how fucked up my family situation is. I kept texting. Now, near these staircases had a window halfway covered with railings, and the window was pretty long and wide, i realised i could fit through it. It even had a ledge large enough to stand on. At that moment, i genuinely wanted to hurl myself off the building. I wasn't actually going to do it, but god, it was so so tempting. My mom called, and asked why she hadn't seen me walk around the apartment. I lied and said I was walking in a certain area of the building. The minute my phone started ringing, I ran down the stairs and used some shortcuts to get to that area, and i walked a bit further. My eyes were free and puffy, i hoped no one would notice and i played some music and walked. She later went up to our horse and called me up asking if I could come get some diesel for our car. Ten minutes later she comes down and we go to our car. She tries to make small talk with me and we get to the topic of my dad. She just went on and on venting about him, saying stuff like
"At this exact turn, your father hit me last year on our anniversary night."
It went on for twenty minutes, we got to the petrol bunk and then got me ice cream.
They also never respect my personal boundaries, I am uncomfortable with hugging and kissing them, but they continuously pull me in for a tight hug and pepper my face with kisses. I hate it, and they don't seem to understand that I am very uncomfortable with it.
I get that this ask is getting rather long, but to save some space, here is a Google docs link of everything I've vented in that discord server, which is the closest thing to a safe space I have.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bTiYdI5k_E-6HZwoR8V3rXMWBAcGPGLKg2JrLsMvHI4/edit?usp=sharing
Also, I have reached out to my school counselor, and we have weekly sessions, but I am scared that it won't end up okay, so I came here for some advice. What would you suggest I do?
Thanks for listening,
Rin.
Hey there, Rin. I'm sorry I took so long to reply! Hope you see this anyway. And please, let me know if you want me to delete this ask at any point for privacy reasons, especially because of the Google doc (and the fact you've updated it since you sent this ask). I've not read all of it, but I skimmed it, and I'm really sorry you've had to go through so much.
Your parents sound horrible, and I know you've said that hitting your children is commonplace where you live (so much so that even teachers normalise it), but I really hope you know that just because something is socially acceptable it doesn't mean it isn't abusive. I really hope you know what you're going through is emotional, physical, and verbal abuse, as well as control. You never deserved to be hit, or yelled at, or belittled, or touched when you don't want to be touched, or used as an emotional punching bag for your parents' problems. You don't deserve any of this 😔
Your ask actually reminded me a lot of how I felt when I was around 14-15, and I just really want you to know you aren't alone in your trauma and your pain, and you deserve to be taken seriously. And I also want you to know things can get better. Life won't always feel like this.
The advice I can give you right now is limited, because you're still really young and cutting out your parents/putting physical distance between you and them isn't possible at the moment. But I would definitely recommend continuing to document the things they do to you if it's safe for you to do so, and reaching out to trusted adults who can help you gain safety, like teachers and counselors. There's also the option of reaching out to your friends' parents if they're good people, or to your extended family, especially if there's anyone in it who's known for being the "black sheep" or who you know will share your beliefs that you shouldn't, you know, abuse your children.
I also want you to know that it's not your responsibility to fix your parents, or to put in the effort to make them not abusive. None of this is your fault. You don't have control over their actions or decisions; and their abuse is their decision, and not something you've caused. Please try to remember this if they make you feel like it's your fault they're yelling at you, hitting you or mistreating you in any other way.
Other than that, my advice is to just hold on. I know adulthood is still years away, and I know the idea of leaving behind a situation like this can feel extremely overwhelming, and the idea of being okay afterwards completely unfathomable. But I just want you to know you don't have to have it all figured out right now. Right now, it's enough if you just survive. Another year, another month, another day, another hour. By whatever means: whether that's venting to people you can trust or holding on to books and shows you like or anything else. Right now, surviving is enough. And, one day, you'll be able to handle the rest.
You're welcome for listening! Feel free to let me know how you're doing. Sending all my support your way ❤️

Miss Della

There was a quiet thump as Louie lay back on the surface of the roof. The stars shone brightly above him, and he sighed.
This was exactly why he avoided Della in the first place. And not just talking to her, but talking about her.
He hadn't even meant to start anything this time.
"Just go to bed, okay? And clean up your mess first! No tricking your siblings into doing it."
"Yes, Miss Della." He rolled his eyes, missing Della's expression getting even angrier than before.
"What did you just call me?"
Everything blurred after that. He meant to listen, really, he did. But she just kept yelling and no one was defending him and he didn't even know what he did wrong.
The next thing he knew, he was on the roof.
He always ended up here. Staring at the moon. He used to stare at it for hours, wishing Della would just come home. Now, though he'd never admit it out loud, he sometimes wished she'd go back.
Those thoughts didn't make him feel any better. What kind of son can't call his mother 'mom'? Or wishes she weren't even there?
He had gone to the roof that night to count. Maybe the stars he could see from there. Maybe the streetlights no less than a mile away. But it seemed the entire world was against him tonight, as the clouds were dense, and it was clear he wouldn't be seeing more than three feet in front of him for the rest of the night.
So he just layed there, looking for something, anything, to keep him calm. Every now and then his breath would hitch, and his hands would tighten around the fabric of his hoodie so tightly it hurt because the only thing that mattered was he didn't start crying again.
He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but all too soon he felt someone step onto the roof behind him.
"This isn't our room."
"Go away Holli." Louie drawled, covering his face with his arms.
"Lou… Come on. Talk to me."
"Why? So you can go tell mom and be her favourite kid? News flash, it's neither of us."
As a moment passed without an answer, Louie moved his arms, peeking through his hands at Holli, who was staring at him with some emotion he couldn't place. (Seriously, how did people just read faces???)
Whatever it was disappeared as faer face hardened. "Here," Holli tossed something towards him, (his phone, he realised) and he caught it haphazardly, eyes widening as he saw the number ready to call on the screen.
"I don't-"
"It's fine, L. I'm not gonna tell Mom." Fae smiled tensely as fae lowered faerself onto the roof, laying down next to him. "I'm not gonna pretend I understand, but you're my little brother. I trust you."
Unable to come up with an answer to that, Louie simply sighed.
"She's super mad at me, isn't she?"
Holli laughed quietly, "Majorly. She stormed around the main hall for 10 minutes before Donald got her to go to bed.
"And Dewey?" He asked quietly, his breathing turning a bit shaky when he didn't get an answer right away.
"He's just… really confused. He's so happy to have her back that he'd do anything to make her happy," Fae started carefully, "But we're triplets, Louie. I promise we're always gonna choose you, even if it might take Dewey a second to remember that.
Ignoring the stinging behind his eyes, he moved closer to Holli, laying his head on faer shoulder.
"Promise?" He whispered.
"Promise," Holli said. "Always."
"M'kay."
The two sat there for a few minutes, until Louie was mostly calm and Holli squeezed his hand, standing next to him.
"I gotta go before Dewey comes looking for us. I'll keep our window unlocked, but if you need me to cover for you tomorrow just text me, okay?"
Louie nodded. "Thanks, Holli."
He watched as Holli ducked back into the window, shutting it mostly behind them. Taking one more deep breath, he stood up, picking up his phone, and dialed the number.
The phone rang twice, being picked up before he got a chance to get anxious that she might not be awake. The line stayed silent, clearly waiting for him to say something.
"Aunt Goldie?" He said, cringing at how his voice cracked.
"Sharpie? You don't sound too happy."
He laughed through the tears that somehow found their way back to his eyes. "Yeah, thanks for noticing."
"No problem, kid. Now what do you need?" He smiled at the sarcasm in her voice.
"I was just wondering if uh-" He paused, attempting to swallow the lump in his throat. "Are you in town right now?"
"Do you need me to be?" She questioned.
"Not if you're busy, it's fine."
"Never too busy for you, you know that. Tell me what's up."
"Can you…"
He paused, looking back at the window as if someone would come looking for him. Seeing it empty, his face hardened.
"Can you please come get me?"
For a moment he hears nothing but the shuffling of papers and the clink of what he assumes are either keys or knives. (The fact that it could reasonably be either never fails to make him laugh.) After a minute of that, he hears the click of a door closing, and then footsteps.
"I'll be there in 10 minutes, shut off the cameras and meet me at the front gate."
Feeling the tension leave his shoulders, he sighed. "Thank you"
"Anytime, Sharpie."
He lowered the phone, his finger hesitating over the 'End Call' button.
"Aunt Goldie?" He whispered, lifting the phone back to his ear.
"Yeah?"
"I uh… I love you."
He heard the crunching of the leaves stop on the other side of the phone, and then nothing for a minute.
"… Love you too kid. Now hurry up with those cameras."
He laughed again, easily this time. "I'm on it."

kiss me ! part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jake was definitely head over heals for your cold personality, and he wasn't going to let anyone take you. but heres the problem: he couldn't find a single way to keep a conversation with you. despite your scary demeanour, jake decides to man up and does everything out of his will to get you.
fluff, jake x reader, (not proofread)
Tumblr media
jake was frustrated to know that many guys have been after you the second you stepped in that classroom doing the bare minimum.
hearing ‘wanna grab lunch with me?’ here and there somehow always made him ball his fist to prevent himself from being a problem. yet again he couldn’t blame other people for wanting to ask you out either. he even sometimes wished that you had rejected him so he could move on. although of course he didn’t really mean that.
because now he was wandering around the school looking for you while he was on a “bathroom break” during his soccer practice. he knew you always liked to stay at the school rooftops admiring the view while listening to music. not like he was stalking you or anything...
you turn your head to look at the person at the door "you again? when are you going to leave me alone? pervert" you scoff, kicking the little pieces of rocks as you avoid jakes eyes. it was almost the millionth time you've seen jake this day, and it was always for the same reason, to piss you off, well more like ask you out --which still pisses you off.
you weren't one to believe in love, or maybe just not yet. because you weren't even sure if you were capable enough to love someone. even the thought of having to be so sweet and touchy with each other grossed you out, and of all people, jake especially knew that. so why was he so determined to get you to fall in love with him?
you weren't one to believe in love, or maybe just not yet. because you weren't even sure if you were capable enough to love someone. even the thought of having to be so sweet and touchy with each other grossed you out, and of all people, jake especially knew that. so why was he so determined to get you to fall in love with him?
"hmmm maybe never?" jake chuckles at the sight of you rolling your eyes "then i'll move schools --countries if that's what takes for you to leave me alone" as you turn around and face him, eyes widened at the thin space between the both of you "and maybe i'll find you"
you raise your eyebrows "well that's borderline criminal act" you wander off "now sim jaeyun i think it's best for you to leave before you add up to my anger --i mean you already are. but wouldn't that be horrible?" jake's eyes follow you as you drag your feet "not really" he states "you're hot when you're mad"
you scoff out of disbelief, hitting him hard on his arm, looking away almost immediately as you trying to hide your heated face "shut up before i'll push you off this building" letting go of the grip you once had on his collar, "alright, alright sorry ma'am. but if you're really mad for whatever reason, come with me. i'll take you to a place" he suggests, offering his hand for you to take "you should be happy. i normally wouldn't even consider letting anyone know about my spot" he shoots you a grin
you take time trying to consider his offer, but as much as you don't want to stroke his ego about convincing you to go with him, you really needed something to release your anger "as long as you shut up about this" you give him a side glance "no promises" he sends a wink your way "ugh, fine"
he gently takes your hand as he drags you out of the school "can you jump over the wall?" jake looks at your flustered face "....no..?" you answer, making a line with your lips, causing him to let out a small chuckle "okay cutie, i'll help you up" you cringe at the nickname "call me that again and i'll break your neck" you step on his knee as he tries to boost you up "yeah that's right, keep going"
but as jake looks up he couldn't help but feel flustered, looking away "i made it!" you pant, hands resting on your knees as you wait for jake to come up as well. but after a few seconds of not hearing him, you call out his name, peaking your head over the wall "jake? i swear to god if you leave me out here i'm killing you"
"n-no i didn't leave you" he stutters, trying to collect himself from being a flustered mess "then come up here! the sun is setting, you wouldn't want to miss it"
"y-yeah it's just that i uh, i saw.....your....you know?" he explains, his hands not knowing what to do "you saw my what!?" you shrieked "no no it's okay i looked away!" he reassures you "ugh, just- just come up here!" you yell, already walking ahead as you try to cool down your heating face "so pink aye?" jake jokes, catching up to you
"SIM JAEYUN!" you yell, kicking him on his ass "ow! okay sorry!"
jake was resting his head on his hands, watching as you play with the small puddle while watching the sunset, not even an hour in, jake panics as he sees the amount of missed calls from riki "oh shit! my soccer practice!"
--
the following days after that, almost everything remained the same, jake continuously teasing and flirting with you, you getting in trouble for the littlest things, never coming home until the latest of the hour. but yet again, almost everything remained the same
you were now in denial of your feelings towards sim jaeyun. it would hurt too much of your pride to actually admit it, because after all, you've always told sim jaeyun you hated him.
you groan "jake, there's a reason why i'm failing english, okay? just accept the fact that i'm the worst" you bury your head on the pages of your book, seated across jake at the back of the library "i didn't even ask for you to help me! i simply just asked for your notes that just happened to have a first grader's hand writing" he scoffs, a little taken back by your sudden insult on his hand writing "thanks? i know you didn't ask for help, i just wanted to do this with you so that you don't get detention for not knowing proper english" he explains, handing you another sheet of paper with an 54 circled on the right corner "seriously y/n? 54? come on, one last set of questions and i'll take you to the new cafe just across the street"
and almost immediately, you bring your head up, grabbing the pen and taking the set of questions. making jake giggle "y/n, just say that you like me, you know i'm not going to reject you-- ow!" you smack him on the head with the pencil "that's absolute nonsense!" you whisper with a harsh voice, digging your face on the note book as you try to cover the little smile you had on your face
i think it was safe to say you got 4 out of 10 right, causing you to almost have a mental breakdown at the library "i can't do this sim" you groan "i think you just need a break yeah? wanna head to the cafe?" jake stands up to pack your stuff, giggling at the sight of your head still buried in between the pages of the book "c'mon y/n" he kneels beside you "get up, let's go to that cafe"
you've never felt your pride hurt as much as this did, having to show jake how bad your were at english, him having to tutor you without you asking for help, and jake bringing you to the cafe even though you weren't even remotely close to getting at least 6 right
and you weren't exaggerating when when you say jake had to drag you all the way to the cafe "hi! what can i get for you today sir?" the girl says, the obvious heart eyes she has for him pissing you off even more "hi yeah i'd like to have a caramel machiatto" he responds politely, smiling at the obvious glare you held at the girl, poking out your tongue after she was called by the manager, an old lady replaces her "anything else for your girlfriend--" before you could correct her, jake immediately speaks up "she'll have (drink)"
he smiles at the old lady before paying "i'm sending you money later whether you like it or not" you roll your eyes "and i'll send it back" he holds your waist as he leads you to a table, causing your heart to beat 10 times faster "yeah? well i'll send it back to you again! i'll keep doing it until you die!" he scoffs at you "as if!"
--
even after multiple attempts of trying to make jake ask you out, the boy who you thought was so smart couldn't take a single hint at all.
but in jake's defence, you were a little bad, considering how bad you were with boys, he vividly remembers that one time when you were trying so hard to make him jealous by talking to other guys. he even laughed as you struggled to keep up with a conversation.
or that other time when you tried to hold his hand just to do something romantic just for once but ended up letting go because he wouldn't stop teasing you about it. he still took your hand, yet he never asked you out still.
"you okay darling?" your mother asks, taking a quick glance at your droopy form leaning on the counter as you wait for her to finish cooking "is it a boy?" she teases, making you perk your head up "i knew it!" she gives you an endearing smile as she gives you a plate with eggs on it, a heart shaped ketchup placed on the top of the egg "mom!" you whine
"okay fine, it is a boy. but don't tell dad" you whisper, smiling once she zips her lips "what's his name?" she asked, tilting her head as she leans on the counter in front of you "jake"
"jake?! i love jake! you should invite him over sometime" she squeals "he's a nice guy, i'm sure he wouldn't hurt you, so what's bothering you?" you sigh, taking a sip of the water "he likes me, it's like the whole world knows. but he just keeps on flirting with me and never actually tries to ask me out" you pout, aggressively taking a bit of the scrambled eggs, making your mother chuckle "oh baby, i'm sure it'll happen soon. just give him some time! unless if you're that impatient, then maybe you should try considering to be the one who makes the first move" she walks away, heading upstairs
no, as much as you hate it, that would hurt too much of your pride. so you decided to wait.
--
summer just had started and you couldn't even explain how much you hated the heat. staying under the shade 70% of the time whenever you went out with jake and his friends "guys! i have an announcement" jay yells, you were currently over at jay's house, just having a little party with just the 8 of you "my father booked us a trip to hawaii"
"WHAT?!"

Yandere Rei hurting reader Pt 3
I couldn't write anything for Valentines, but I hope you like this. Enjoy!
Pt 1 here.
Pt 2 here.
Check out my MASTERLIST for more!
Enji wasn’t surprised at your funeral.
He wasn't surprised when Rei had begged him to have you frozen, keep your body encased in a glass box at home.
He wasn't surprised when the kids held her, letting him make proper funeral arrangements.
He wasn't surprised when Rei had a breakdown, punching his chest and thrashing around in Shotou's and Dabi's arms.
Enji wasnt surprised when the divorce papers came. He knew the kids were making her do this, but he didn't care. He signed them without hesitation.
He wasn't surprised when he heard the kids had sent Rei to an asylum. She kept escaping the house to run to the graveyard; she wanted to dig your body up. He understood why the kids sent her back.
He wasn't surprised when he heard Rei had killed herself in that place, 6 months after you had died.
He wasn't surprised when his kids didn't inform him of her death or funeral. If he was being honest, he wasn't even sure if he would've gone to pay his respects.
Enji poured himself another glass of vodka, taking the bottle with him as he sat on his recliner, almost tripping on a few empty bottles.
He wasn't an alcoholic, he was just trying to numb his pain. Its the only thing that helps him fall asleep.
Enji pulled out a cigarette and pushed it between his lips. He snapped his fingers to light it, closing his eyes as he inhaled the carcinogen.
"Again, dad?"
Enji didn't have to open his eyes to know its you.
"You know these things are not good for you."
Enji smiled. You were always so caring.
"Ah, so you do smile? I didn't think you were capable of doing that."
Enji opened his eyes. You were standing in front of him, a grin on your face.
"I smiled a lot more when you were around." Enji said.
You chuckled. "Me too." You sat next to him, before putting your head in his lap. "But you weren't around often."
Enji felt tears prick his eyes. "I'm sorry."
"I know."
Enji woke up the next morning with a massive headache. He went to his kitchen to get himself some coffee. He checked the calendar as he sipped the hot drink.
Friday.
He finished his coffee quickly, before wearing a large coat. He grabbed his car keys and drove away from his house.
When he reached the graveyard, he made sure to wear his sunglasses and a baseball cap, before grabbing the bouquet of white lillies.
Your grave was a little away from the rest, he wanted you to have space, and his family to have privacy when they visited.
He stood in front of your grave. It was clean and the bed of grass of fresh as ever. He had paid the caretaker good money to regularly clean up your resting place.
Enji stared at your tombstone for some time.
Y/n Todoroki.
Heaven's brightest angel
A loving daughter
Now resting safe and at peace
Tears fell free from Enji's eyes at that. "Safe and at peace". Safe and at peace. Two things he failed to give you.
The image of your bloody face flashed in his mind for a moment. Blood coated your teeth and mouth, your gut was also bleeding heavily. Your face was contorted in pain, confusion and betra-
Enji needs to stop thinking.
He sat down beside your grave and pulled out the flask from his coat pocket. He knows he has to drive back. He knows he shouldn't drink, not in front of you at least, but he can't help it. "I'm sorry." Enji whispers before he started drinking. It didn't take long for him to finish the entire flask. It was getting dark and he knew he had to leave before the caretaker came.
Enji pressed a kiss to your tombstone before he turned on his heel to leave.
"Endeavour?"
Enji was stunned to hear his hero name; nobody had called him that in a long time. God, he wished it wasn't the paparazzi. They had no respect for anyone, not even for the grieving or the dead.
But he looked up to see an old face.
"Keigo?"
Hawks smiled. "How are you?"
"Fine. What are you doing here?"
He scratched the back of his head nervously. "I've been meaning to talk to you." Hawks sighed. "I tried contacting you several times but you're impossible to track."
Enji knew that. He disappeared from the public eye after your death. He left his agency to Hawks, and got himself a home hidden in the woods. People assumed that he was just distraught over his wife's death or something. They didn't know about you. Nobody did. He paid off the hospital staff to keep their mouth shut because he didn't want his kids to suffer anymore because of his mistakes.
"What do you want?" Enji asked, gruffly.
"I just wanted to talk to you. Check up on you, y'know?"
"I'm doing great." Enji replied, stepping around him, about to walk away, but Hawks put a hand on his shoulder.
"Enji, its not your fault-"
"Shut up." Enji walked past him and made his way towards his car.
"Enji, listen to me-"
"I said. Shut. Up." He growled out. He didn't need anyone's pity. He reached his car with Hawks running up to him.
Enji tried to open his door but he suddenly felt lightheaded as he fell down.
"Enji! Are you okay?" Hawks kneeled beside him.
"I'm f-fine. Leave me alone." Enji was slurring.
Hawks grimaced when he smelled his breath. "God, you reek of alcohol. You weren't planning on driving in this state?"
Enji pushed him away. "I said I'm fine." Enji stood up before stumbling towards his car again, fumbling with the keys, his vision blurring the more he strained himself.
"Let me take you home, Enji." Enji felt his hands on his shoulder, but just as he tried to tell Hawks to fuck off, his vision faded to black.
Enji opens his eyes and finds himself in his house again. His old house. He's laying in bed when he hears laughter from outside. He gets out of bed and walks towards the source.
The kitchen.
He walks in and sees his family, the sun rays flooding the room, and the golden orange hues illuminating their faces. Rei is mixing something in a large bowl, Fuyumi is greasing up some pans. Natsuo and Touya are eating the chocolate chips from the bag, and Shotou is telling them to save some for the cake. And you. You're there too. Sitting beside Shotou, laughing as Touya sneakily gives you some chocolate chips too. Suddenly, they all turn towards him. Rei motions for him to come in. "Enji! Come in. We're making a cake!" Enji walks towards her, wrapping his arms around her. Rei kisses him, making his kids cringe and tell them to stop. They all laugh. Rei pours the batter into the pans, before raising the spoon. "Okay, who wants to lick the spoon?" And suddenly Touya, Natsuo and you yell "me!" before trying to reach for the spoon. Shotou freezes Natsuo's foot to the floor, while Enji pulls Touya back. Fuyumi grabs the spoon from her mom, and gives it to you, making you smile as you eagerly lick the spatula clean, while Touya and Natsuo whine how its not fair. Everyone laughs as Rei cleans up the batter smeared on your nose with a tissue. Its a heart warming scene. Its all he ever wanted.
But its not the reality he was given now, was it?
As Enji closes his eyes, basking in the warmth of his family, he suddenly hears someone crying. He snaps his eyes open, but the kitchen is empty and dark. He hears the crying again. He gets out of the kitchen quickly, trying to find the source. Its coming from Fuyumi's room. He bursts through the door, looking for Fuyumi, but finds you there instead. You're on the floor whimpering as you're trying to rub your arm with a towel. He kneels next to you. "What's wrong?" You cry when you remove the towel to reveal the huge ice burn on your arm. There were ice crystals littering all over the skin. Enji begins to heat up his palms as he melts the ice downs, slowly allowing the sensation in your arm to return. "What happened?" You sniffled. "F-fuyumi came to my room and said that she wants to go shopping with me, I told her I had to study for my test." You hiccuped. "She didn't like that, she- she said I'm ignoring her, blowing her off- I'm not!" You cried. Enji focused on your arm, heating it up slowly. "I know, you didn't do it on purpose. But maybe you could take some time off school? Think of it as a little break. You could spend more time with Fuyumi, with us." You looked at him in confusion. "B-but she hurt me-" "no, she was just a bit frustrated. You know she didn't mean it, right? She's your big sister, she loves you." You hesitantly nodded. "If you say so..." Enji smiled. "See, its all better now. Let me heat up the towel and wrap it around your arm." He turned to get the towel, but when he turned back, the room was empty.
He heard quiet sobs coming from your room. He made his way to your room and opened door and found you lying on the bed. "What happened?" He asked, taking a seat on your bed. "I saw him, I saw Natsuo put crushed pills- sleeping pills in my food! That's why I've been feeling so sleepy lately. When I confronted him, he told me its for my own good. B-but I know its because he doesn't want me to go out with my friends! He forcefully fed me the food, and then he took my phone away too! He said its because its not good to sleep with your phone but I know he took it because he wants to go through my stuff!" Enji hushed you. "Can you talk to him? Tell him to stop or something." Enji raised an eyebrow. "Natsuo is your big brother. He's just looking out for you. And he's not wrong about going through your phone either. Do you have something to hide?" You shook your head no. "But-!" "Natsuo wouldn't do anything to cause you pain, okay?" You closed your eyes. "Okay." You whispered. Enji closed the door as he left your room. But as soon as he did, he heard banging coming from the basement. He rushed down the stairs and found the door locked. Bursting through the door, he was suddenly engulfed by a small body. It was you again. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please, help me!" Enji pulled you away from him. "Hey, shh. Its okay. I'm here. What happened?" You sobbed into his chest. "I just went to the grocery store- just for 20 minutes!" Enji already knew what went wrong. "You didn't go with Shotou, did you? You didn't even inform him, right?" You shook your head no. "It slipped my mind. I promise I wasn't running away!" Enji sighed, petting your hair. "How long have you been down here?" You sniffled. "I dont know. It was Wednesday when Shotou pushed me in here." Three days. "Its okay. You've learnt your lesson, right?" You nodded. "Please, I don't want to be down here anymore." Enji led you out of the basement. "Just don't forget to tell Shotou next time, or tell us what you need. We'll bring whatever you want." Enji closed the basement door, but suddenly someone whimpered from inside. He opened the door again, but he found himself in the main bathroom. You were standing in front of the sink, putting some ointment on your shoulder. Enji looked closer and found burn marks on your skin. "Did Touya-" You turned around towards him. "Yes." Enji couldn't take his eyes off the red, burnt skin. "Why?" You shrugged your shoulders. "Does it matter?" You slammed the door shut in his face.
Enji didn't even realise he had begun walking away from the door and towards another one. He instinctively opened the door and found Rei and you. Rei had her arms raised, a sharp knife in her hand. "Rei- what are you doing? Put the knife down!" Suddenly, the rest of his kids appeared in the room. They stood between Rei and him, like a barrier. "Honey, its okay! We know whats best for her!" Rei spoke. Shotou nodded. "Yes. You said so yourself." Fuyumi spoke this time. "We're her family! We wouldn't hurt her!" Touya walked towards Enji. "Besides, if something happens, you promised you would save her, won't you?" Enji nodded. "Of course." "Then trust us. Like you always have." Natsuo said. Enji's eyes moved towards you. You opened your mouth to say something but all of a sudden, Enji was pushed out of the room and the door slammed closed. Enji jumped to the door when he heard your painful, gut wrenching screams. "DAD! STOP THEM! HELP ME! DAD!" Enji kept on banging his fists on the door but the door wouldn't budge.
Then it was silent. All too quiet. The door creaked open a bit. Enji didn't know if he wanted to see whats behind there anymore, but he still pushed the door open. How he wish he hadn't.
Lying on the floor, blood spilled from your mouth and your gut. Your body bore burns and scorch marks, the smell of burnt flesh wafting through the air. Enji fell to his knees. Its too late. "D-daddy? It- hurts."your voice was so quiet, so soft, he almost didn't hear you. "Save me?"you coughed out more blood, with each word. Enji started crying. "I-I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I-I can't." Your eyes dimmed when he said that, your chest finally stopped moving.
Enji finally woke up from his recurrent nightmare. He had been haunted by them ever since your death. Sad thing is, they didn't stray that far from reality. You had come to him many times, begging for help, but he turned you away, assuring you that they're just messing around, that it was an accident, or it was just a one time thing.
It wasn't.
Enji couldn't count how many times you had told him how his family had been hurting you, before you stopped asking all together when you realised he would always take their side.
It took a few minutes for Enji to register that he wasn't lying in his bed, or was in his home for that matter.
Enji groans as he sits up, rubbing his head. He remembers he was at the graveyard and then Hawks was there too. Hawks must've brought him to his home.
Stupid bird. He should just mind his own business.
Enji got up and left the room, leaning against the wall for support as he made his way around the house. Where was Keigo anyways?
He was passing by a garden when he saw someone move there. Enji focused his eyes and saw...you. He sighed. Enji sat down on the porch that opened into the garden. He realised he must've had drank a lot yesterday. Clearly, the effects of intoxication were still there.
You were sitting next to some bushes, trimming up their rough edges, your face turned away from him. You were humming to yourself as you worked.
You always did like plants, flowers especially. That's why he made sure you were buried where there was enough space for some flowers and grass to grow.
"I see you've found her." Hawks handed Enji a cup of coffee. He didn't even realise when he had walked-
Wait.
"You can see her?" Enji asked. Was he still dreaming?
Hawks chuckled. "Of course. She's right there- Enji, did you drink again?"
Enji looked at you, then at Hawks, then back to you. "What?" There's no way. There's no way. Hawks looked at Enji weirdly before he called for you.
"Y/n! Sweetie, come here!" You whipped your head around at Hawks voice.
And Enji sees you.
He wasn't hallucinating. You're real.
You skipped towards them, smiling. And Enji didn't even realise it until you were right in front of them. You had eyes. They were different than your real ones. These new ones, they were the same colour as his. Sharp, turquoise blue.
Were you a doppelganger? Is this some kind of sick joke? He couldn't help but wonder, but some part of him knew that wasn't the case.
Enji stood up when you reached them, the cup falling from his hand.
"Hey, dad."
In a second, Enji had his arms wrapped around you. You're really there. You weren't dead. You're still alive. "Y/n? Is it really you?" Enji asked, tears falling from his eyes as he held you tighter, still in disbelief.
You hugged him back. "Yes. Who else would it be?" You chuckled.
He pulled you away from him, his eyes scanned your face. There was still some charring and faded scars around your eyes, but they were mostly healed. It really is you.
"B-but how?"
You smiled. "Hawks-"
It was like something snapped in him at the hero's name.
Enji suddenly pushed you behind him, taking a protective stance. "What the fuck did you do?!" He growled at Keigo.
Hawks held his arms up in surrender, trying to pacify the man in front of him. "Nothing. I just helped her." Enji pounced at Hawks, pushing him to the ground. He was going to murder Hawks if he even looked at you the wrong way. "Oh yeah? And what the fuck did you want in return, you sick bastard?!" Enji raised his hand to punch him, but he stopped when he felt your tiny hands pull on his arm. "Dad! Please, stop! He saved me! Please!" He could hear the fear in your voice. He got off Hawks and yanked you back to him. "Tell me. Did he threaten you? Harm you? Touch you?" Although Enji's eyes held concern for you, he was scaring you with his grip on your wrist turning painfully tight. "No! Please, stop." You replied, struggling as you tried to free your wrist.
"Enji, calm the fuck down! You're hurting her!" Hawks finally managed to pull his hand off of your wrist. As soon as he did, Enji saw his handprint around your wrist.
Fuck.
You moved behind Hawks, peeking at Enji from between his wings, your eyes pooling with unshed tears. Enji's heart sank.
Looking at your scared form, Enji couldn't help but recall how different it used to be before. How you used to run to him for help, seek his protection.
And now, you need to be saved from him.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Y/n. I didn't mean to." He reached his hand out for yours. When you moved further behind Hawks, his heart broke. You were scared of him. Your eyes holding the same fear as they once held for the rest of his family.
"Y/n, darling, why don't you go tend to the bushes. I need to talk to your father." You scurried away as soon as Hawks said that.
"She's scared of me." Enji's voice held guilt.
Hawks patted his back. "Don't worry. She'll come around soon."
Hawks sat on the porch step, motioning Enji to sit beside him as well. He sat but kept his eyes towards your form. "What happened, Keigo?"
"Well, when you had called me, informing me how Rei had stabbed Y/n, I came as quickly as possible. I remember you were holding Rei back, stopping her from entering the hospital room. Once your kids had arrived and taken their mother away, you told me to keep guard while you sorted out some hospital forms." Hawks took a sip of his coffee before continuing. "Y/n had woken up a few minutes after you had left. And she started crying as soon as she was conscious. I tried calming her down, but she was- hysterical. She kept on saying how they were going to torture her again. I told her that Enji would make sure they wouldn't. She kept on insisting that you were going to take Rei's side." Hawks looked at Enji. "And you and I both know know, you would've." Enji held his head shamefully, because he was right. He would've taken his family's side yet again.
"She asked me to kill her, Enji."
Enji's eyes widened at that, turning his head to Hawks. "What?" Hawks nodded, his eyes stone cold. "She said she'd rather be dead than return to your house." Enji felt like someone had drove a spear through his chest. Oh god, how long had you been feeling like that? "Thats when I decided to take her."
"But how? We buried her." Hawks rolled his eyes.
"It isn't hard to find a body. You know that."
Enji nodded. Right. "And her eyes?"
"Got a quirk doctor to replace them."
Enji's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "But Natsuo said that they were irreplaceable-"
"Natsuo lied, Enji. All of your kids did. They were going to side with their mother, no matter what. And Rei wanted her to remain blind, so everyone made sure she did." He took another sip of his coffee. "You have a fucked up family."
Enji clenched his jaw at that, but it was the truth. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Hawks raised his eyebrows in disbelief. "You're hard to track. You went into hiding and I had to run your agency, clean up your mess so that the public doesn't find out and I had a daughter at home to look after too. I guess you could say, I was a bit occupied."
"Oh. I'm sorry." Enji looked towards where you were, happily tending to your garden, completely oblivious to your surroundings. You looked so lively, so content. "Is...is she happy?" Hawks smiled at that. He still adores you. "Yes. She stays at home mostly, tending to the garden, but she occasionally goes out as well."
Enji looked at Hawks. "Alone? What if she runs away? What if something happens to her?"
Hawks shook his head. "She won't. Where's she going to go? She knows that your kids are still out there, and if they ever saw her, God knows what they'll do to her." Hawks crossed his arms against his chest. "Besides, I gave her a special bracelet. It has a tracking device in it and if she ever runs into trouble, all she needs to do is tap it and I'll be there!"
Hawks really had it all figured it out. Everything was under control, so why was he there? "Why did you bring me?"
"To save you." Enji stared at him in confusion. "You can't live without her, Enji. The past few months are evidence that you can't. You almost drank yourself to death." Hawks ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. "Look at yourself. Your eyes are bloodshot, you drink, you smoke, you're depressed as fuck. Is this the kind of hero you imagined yourself becoming? Is this the kind of father you want to be?"
"Keigo I-"
"You know, she never spoke ill of you once. Never. If anything, she told me that her good memories with your family, were mostly with you. Almost like she misses you."
"What do you want me to do, Keigo?" He asked helplessly, because Enji truly didn't know.
"I want you to stay here." He began. "Be the hero she needs; the father she needs."
"Keep your promise to her." Hawks eyes were full with fierce emotion as he reminded Enji of his promise.
I'll keep you safe. I promise.
Those word had been echoing in his mind forever, always accompanied by gore filled images of you.
"Raise the family you always dreamt of."
As if something had finally clicked, Enji nodded before he slowly made his way towards you. Hawks watched as Enji sat down beside you and talked to you. You smiled slowly before handing him a pair of gardening gloves as you taught him how to plant some flowers.
It was a good thing that Hawks cared about both of you deeply.
He was happy he was going to save his hero, Endeavour.
He was happy that he was going to start anew with you guys.
He was happy as he saw the love of his life and his goddaughter, now daughter, playing in the mud.
He was beyond ecstatic when he had slit Rei's throat in the asylum.
"What?" Hawks asks you, the person reading this story. He leans towards you, face mere inches away from yours, and smirks.
"That bitch had it coming."

Chapter 10
You woke up with Spencer’s arm lazily draped over your waist. Rain was pitter-pattering against the window.
You rolled over and cuddled yourself into Spencer’s chest.
“Good morning,” he hummed contently.
“G’morning,” you sleepily mumbled.
“Is my little angel tired from last night?” he asked.
“Very,” you nodded, “Do we have to pick Callie up from her sleepover?”
“She’s staying there until after her soccer practice. I have to go back to my house and get some more clothes to bring over here but other than that, my day is wide open,” he gently stroked your hair.
“I just have two appointments later in the day so I’ll have to go into the office this afternoon,” you yawned.
“I’ll make us breakfast,” Spencer tried to shift out from underneath the covers.
“Or…” you wrapped your arms around him once again, “We can get breakfast on the way to your house and then I get some extra cuddle time.”
“Sounds good to me,” Spencer pressed a kiss to your forehead.
-
“Um hello?” Spencer asked as you both approached the woman standing at his front door.
She turned around and Spencer’s eyes practically bulged out of his head.
“Spencer!” she ran to hug him.
Spencer refused to unclasp his hand from yours, making it very clear he had no intention to return the hug.
“What are you doing here, Austin?”
Austin. This was Callie’s mother. The woman who abandoned them both.
“I’m in between jobs right now, figuring out my purpose in life, you know? I just took a bus and ended up back here again. Got me thinking I should stop by and check in,” she smiled like this was just a casual visit from a friend.
“You wanted to stop by after 11 years and no goodbye?” Spencer asked incredulously.
“I could also use a place to crash for a few days. How’s Camellia doing? Does she still do that thing where she twitches her little nose? I always loved that.”
“Don’t act like you know my daughter at all,” Spencer seethed.
“Spencer,” you got in between them, putting your hands on his chest to calm him down.
You turned to Austin, “One second.”
You led Spencer back down the steps, “Look, I know what she did was very wrong but she did give you the greatest gift of all, Callie, so maybe you could invite her over for dinner and she could just sleep on the couch for the night?”
“Just one night?” Spencer confirmed.
“If you don’t do this now, Callie will probably just track her birth mother down later in life without you there to supervise. Lots of my past foster kids have and it doesn’t always end well.”
“Fine,” Spencer relented, heading back up the front steps.
“You can stay with us for one night,” Spencer emphasized, “I will be watching you the whole time you’re with Callie.”
“Deal!” She clapped her hands excitedly.
“Hi, I’m Y/N,” you introduced yourself, opting to not give a label.
“Nice to meet you,” she replied with a sickeningly sweet smile.
She loaded her few bags of belongings into the back of the car as you and Spencer grabbed some more of his clothes from inside.
Spencer opted to drive so you headed to the passenger side. Austin grabbed the car door handle at the same time as you.
“Oh I’m sorry, were you going to sit here?” she feigned politeness.
“Yeah, I was,” you narrowed your eyes.
Spencer rolled the window down, “Austin, there’s plenty of room in the back.”
“Oh, of course!” she nodded enthusiastically.
You buckled as Spencer placed his hand on your thigh, in view of Austin. You settled in for the most awkward car ride of your life.
-
“Can’t you cancel? Please don’t leave me here with her,” Spencer begged as you got ready to go in for work.
“I would if they were just check-ups but Timmy has a rash I need to check out and I need to write a script so Jessica can get a refill on her medication. If you really don’t want to be alone with her, come with me,” you replied.
“I would but I also don’t trust her enough to leave her alone in your house,” Spencer sighed.
“I’ll be back in an hour,” you kissed him, “An hour and a half tops.”
“What do I even say to her?”
“You don’t have to say much. You’re already being generous enough to let her see Callie for the night. Just make dinner while I’m gone. You could offer her a bath or something if you want her to get out of your hair,” you suggested.
-
Spencer had offered Austin a bath so he didn’t have to deal with the awkward silence while you were gone.
He got to work cooking Rossi’s famous pasta for dinner, dicing onions and boiling the water. He would check the clock every minute and started a countdown in his head of when you would return home.
He heard the water drain from the tub upstairs.
Fuck, he thought, at least 10 more minutes until you’re home.
Austin sauntered down the stairs after her bath in just her bra and underwear, wearing one of Spencer’s unbuttoned dress shirts over top.
Spencer’s hands flew to cover his eyes, “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Hopefully you,” she smirked.
“I have a girlfriend, well it’s not official yet but I am very much committed to her,” Spencer stated.
“If it’s not official,” she drew closer, “Then, this wouldn’t be cheating.”
“I don’t care if it’s technically not cheating. I only have interest in Y/N,” Spencer spoke firmly, his hands still over his eyes.
“Just once, Spence…for old time’s sake,” she whispered in his ear.
“No,” Spencer backed up further into the pot of sauce he was cooking for dinner, spilling a bit of the hot liquid on himself.
Spencer opened his eyes at the burning sensation, “Now look what you did,” he sighed frustratedly, starting to undo the buttons of his shirt, “I have to soak this before it stains. I can’t believe you. Why would you think this is okay?”
“Just go wash your shirt, Spencer,” Austin rolled her eyes.
Spencer, being so angry, didn’t hear the door open.
“I’m not finished with you, Austin,” he stared her down.
He heard a squeak from the other side of the room. You were standing there, fresh tears running down your face.
Spencer looked down at his unbuttoned shirt, Austin’s lack of clothes, and recalled the last thing he said.
“Y/N, it’s not what it looks like-” he tried to run after you but you were already out the door, slamming it behind you.
Spencer scrambled outside to where you were starting your car back up again.
“Y/N,” he frantically tapped against the car window, “Please let me explain.”
You didn’t even turn to face him, shifting the car into reverse and peeling out of the driveway.
Spencer stormed back inside, grabbing Austin’s bags, “Get the fuck out of Y/N’s house and get the fuck out of my family’s life.”
“But Callie isn’t even home yet,” she argued.
“Good,” Spencer yelled, “Because it took you less than 3 hours for your true colors to show again. You care about nothing! You didn’t want anything to do with us then so you don’t get to have anything to do with us now,” Spencer escorted her towards the door, “I will not hesitate to file for a restraining order if I see you near me, Y/N, or my daughter ever again.”
“Can I at least change?” she asked as Spencer threw her bags on the front step.
“You were plenty comfortable showing me who repeatedly told you no so might as well show the whole neighborhood,” he slammed the door in her face.
-
How dare he? In your house. Probably in your bed.
You went back to your office because Spencer couldn’t even leave you the dignity to retreat back to your own safe space that was now tainted with bad memories.
Luckily, you had a few pairs of spare clothes that you always kept in the office and a fully made cot in case a patient needed to rest. You settled yourself on the bed, letting the tears begin to fall again, drenching your pillow as you let sleep take over.
-
“Please pick up please please please,” Spencer begged.
“Hi, you’ve reached Dr. Y/N Y/L/N. I can’t come to the phone right now-”
Spencer hung up and hit his head against the steering wheel. He had already said what he needed to say in the previous 20 voicemails, followed by the additional 30 calls he made every 15 minutes, hoping you would pick up.
“At least you’re not blocked?” Callie tried her hardest to put a positive spin on it.
She didn’t know the full story, coming home after soccer practice to see her dad crying on the couch. Spencer told her that her mother had come back and hurt Y/N’s feelings badly because that was essentially what happened, right?
Spencer had been replaying the situation over and over in his head. Yes, it looked bad from the outside perspective but he didn’t think he actually did anything wrong. If only he could find Y/N, explain it to her and have her believe him.
“Have fun at school,” he hugged her goodbye before she hopped out of the car.
“Remember to tell Mrs. Roberts to drop you off at our place, not Y/N’s,” he reminded her.
“Our house is going to feel so dull though. It’s always cold, did you notice that? We don’t even have a cat,” she whined.
“The least we can do is give Y/N her space to process,” Spencer told her, “If she’s ready for us to come back into her life eventually, we’ll gladly take it.”
“If?” Callie grimaced, “How bad did my mother mess this up?”
“I’d rather not say,” Spencer simply stated.
“That sounds promising,” Callie sighed, “Bye, Dad. Love you.”
“Love you too, sweetheart.”
-
“Could you give this note to Doctor Y/L/N?” Spencer asked the receptionist.
Y/N,
Your house is cleared out. Despite your previous statement, it is obvious we have overstayed our welcome at the moment. I hope if you give me a chance to explain, it will ease your pain and in turn, mine. I swear to you, angel, nothing happened. I can tell the full story whenever you are ready and I hope you can hear the truth in my voice.
Yours,
Spencer
“Jake Gomez?” he heard you call out.
He turned around to see a little kid hopping out of his seat in the waiting room and following you into the clinic area. You made brief eye contact with him and you looked so broken. It took everything in him not to run up and beg on his knees for your forgiveness.
-
Callie had a big soccer game coming up and you really wanted to go but you also really didn’t want to see Spencer.
Sure, you got his note but he could easily have lied. It was hard to argue with what you saw right in front of your eyes.
You pulled your hair back into a low bun and wore a hood pulled over a hat as well as sunglasses. You made sure to blend in with the crowd of moms.
You saw Spencer about 2 rows of bleachers down, leaning against the fence. God, why did he have to look so good in jeans?
Despite your sunglasses, one of the moms caught the subject of your stares.
“I’m pretty sure he’s single too,” she nudged you, “If I didn’t have a husband, I would be all over that fine piece of ass.”
You just nervously nodded in response.
-
The game had gone into overtime. The teams had to take turns shooting on the opposing goalie’s net. Each team must take 5 shots with 5 different players and whoever makes the most wins.
Callie was put in the stressful position of needing to make the shot to win the game for her team. She took her time, lining up the shot and stretching out her legs.
Callie ran in for the kick, faking left and when the goalie dived, she kicked right.
“Score!” the ref announced.
“Yes, Callie!” you stood and screamed in excitement, “That’s what I’m talking about!”
After the initial shock wore off, you realized Spencer was staring directly at you.
You grimaced, “Um excuse me, sorry, excuse me,” you repeated as you tried to quickly get out of the aisle.
“Y/N, please wait!” Spencer ran after you.
“I came for Callie, Spencer, not you,” you huffed, slowing to a walk because the parking lot was up a hill and you weren’t about to sprint the whole way.
“Please, Y/N, let me explain. I miss you so much, it hurts,” he pleaded.
“Oh you’re hurt?” you asked incredulously, “I’m sorry that me leaving after I found you cheating on me hurt you.”
“I didn’t cheat!” Spencer insisted, “She was coming on to me but I rejected her every single time. I was yelling at her for how inappropriate her behavior was, that's what you walked in on.”
“You were yelling at her with your shirt off?”
“I had my eyes covered at first so I wouldn’t see her indecent but I accidentally backed into the sauce and I didn’t want to stain my shirt.”
You sat there in silence, processing his story.
“Please say something. I’ll do anything to make it right, I need you back.”
A tear fell from Spencer’s eye which was followed by many more.
“I think your story is just crazy enough that I believe you,” you spoke.
“Really?” Spencer asked.
“Really,” you outreached your arms for a hug.
Spencer dove into your embrace like it was his air. He cried into your chest for 10 minutes until he finally met your eyes again.
“I’m sorry, I just thought I was never going to get to do this again,” he squeezed you tighter, “I love you, Y/N, and I want you to be my girlfriend. I actually want you to be more than my girlfriend someday but this is a good start for now.”
“I love you too,” you kissed him, “And just curious, what did you have in mind for the future?”
“I’m going to make you my wife someday,” he grinned.

@lucifer-is-a-bag-of-dicks came up with this op!Danny/Marvel AU!
BTW I need help naming this newest proof that I can't keep anything to a short little one-shot.
.
Loki was not, and never had been, a good man. For that matter, whether or not he’d ever been a good boy was debatable. His mother would argue that he had, but she would very likely be the only one. Well, except for Thor, perhaps, but that was because he was an idiot who could drown in three inches of nostalgia. Like he didn’t remember every time Loki had humiliated him. Maybe he didn’t, for all that he kept falling for the same trick over and over again.
It made Loki’s late nights studying the arts of illusion, misdirection, and lying seem redundant. Almost. Not everyone was as dense as his big brother.
No. Loki had never been a good man. He had, however, been a free man.
Free to run or hide. Free to explore the nooks and crannies of Asgard, to uncover her secrets in ways few cared to do. Free to walk hidden paths between the Nine Realms and even farther flung territories, where his people did not and had never ruled, to play games, make deals, have adventures, take risks. To be. To exist as his own creature.
He had been free. He had.
But on one of those little secret excursions, he had discovered something that had made even his flippant, slippery heart clench with fear. A ravening plague, spreading across the stars. The death of half of everything on the horizon.
Loki was not a good man. What cause did he have to care for all the sundry others in the universe? There were too many. It was too much to ask.
But Asgard—His home, even though the had long ago realized the blood in his veins originated on very different soil. That was different.
Asgard, he could help. Asgard could survive.
But it had to be strong. It had to have strong allies. None of this barely-held peace, this enemy eternally at their gates. It needed strong leadership. Not his brother’s simplistic view and longing for the glory of war.
Loki was not a good man. But he was one who could get things done.
Before he knew it, he had burned all his bridges behind him. In one case, a literal bridge that was literally broken.
And he fell.
And he fell.
And he fell right into the hands of the one he had feared enough to do this. Broken enough for poison to drip into the cracks. No one knew where he was, no one could know where he was, except, perhaps, Heimdal, and Loki sincerely doubted Heimdal cared. No one was coming for him. No one was looking for him. No rescue was forthcoming.
He was alone.
Asgardians were considered gods for a reason. Their bodies and minds were much more resilient than the average mortal’s. But Thanos’s people had been titans, and there was a reason for that, too.
Thanos enjoyed breaking him.
And Loki turned his lies on himself. A skilled master of games always had one gifted opponent, even alone. Hadn’t he wanted to rule? To command? To see a world, any world, prostrate at his feet? To be given the recognition and praise of which he was so worth?
To pull something, anything, out of the fire?
(If he had spent less time learning how to spin lies and more on how to see the truth, he might not have believed it. A better, wiser, man would have. But Loki was not a good man. And he was very skilled in his craft.)
So, his new master put a weapon in his hands, and he went off to conquer a world.
.
Danny was used to rude awakenings. He was used to those rude awakenings being full body chills and ghosts, not someone knocking on his door.
Blearily, he pulled himself out from under the blankets. Quasi-military government facility or not, the beds were comfortable. Maybe Mom or Dad had gotten themselves locked out of their room? Or Jazz—No, not Jazz, she hadn’t come with them. She was at college, not being flown places by Mom and Dad’s suspiciously generous new consulting job.
At least it wasn’t the GIW.
He stood on tiptoe (curse his perpetually short body) to peer out the peephole. His parents’ buff, one-eyed, and incredibly imposing new boss stood in front of the door, hands on his hips, slightly sweeping back his long dark coat. If Danny listened carefully, he could hear two other people near the door, and… was that an alarm? Yes. Faint, but present, was a warning klaxon.
Okay. Danny would bet his right arm that something had gone horribly wrong with whatever his parents were consulting on. Didn’t explain why the boss was in front of his door.
Unless they’d gotten the rooms mixed up, somehow?
Ugh. Danny wasn’t paid enough to deal with this.
He opened the door. “What-?”
“Phantom,” intoned eyepatch guy with great solemnity.
Danny immediately tried to close the door. The guy stuck his foot in the jamb, and, sure, Danny could have crushed it, but that would be a jerk move. He didn’t think this guy was going for a pirate look, after all.
“We need your help.”
.
“I’m not sure what you think I can help you with,” yelled Danny over the beating of the helicopter blades. He’d remained stubbornly in human form. “My parents are the scientists. This sounds like a science thing. Not a punching-people thing.”
“We spoke to them earlier,” said Fury, “and we have plenty of scientists working on the theories they brought up. You’re the one with practical experience.”
“Practical experience in what?”
“Interdimensional portals,” said the woman, who had yet to introduce herself.
As if this whole thing wasn’t already giving him a bad feeling. “My parents built an interdimensional portal. Again, you should be talking to them. They’re the ones you’re paying.”
“We could pay you, too,” said Fury, “but we assumed you would want to avoid letting your parents know about this, as you’re still a minor and they have control of your bank accounts.”
Danny stared flatly. “This is blackmail.”
“We aren’t threatening you,” pointed out the woman.
“Emotional blackmail,” said Danny, glaring, daring her to challenge him on whether or not he actually knew what blackmail was.
In the meantime, the helicopter landed. Danny unbuckled and hopped out, trailing slightly awkwardly behind Fury and the woman. He didn’t want to stand out, but he suspected that, being the only kid here and being in the general vicinity of Fury, who radiated authority, that was a lost cause.
“This is Agent Coulson. Coulson, this is Phantom.”
Danny’s mouth went dry(er) at how casual the introduction was. His eyes went nervously to all the other people running around the field. With all the noise, it was unlikely anyone had heard, but still…
“Can you not? Secret identity and all? Unless you’ve told everyone herealready, which, rude.”
Fury sighed. “How bad is it?” he asked Coulson.
“We’re not sure,” said Coulson. “That’s the problem. Big fan of your work, by the way,” he added as an aside to Danny. He glanced at the woman. “Agent Hill.”
“Background?” asked Fury as he led the way into the building.
“The first energy surge was four hours ago. Dr. Selvig’s equipment picked it up – He’s the head scientist on this project.”
“Dr. Selvig isn’t authorized to test,” said Fury. “We wanted to run his plans by the Fentons.”
“He wasn’t testing. He wasn’t even in the room. He called it ‘spontaneous advancement.’”
“It turned itself on?”
“What are the energy levels?” asked Fury before Hill’s question could be answered.
“Climbing,” said Coulson.
“Mr. Fenton,” said Fury, “any comments?”
“Look, I don’t even know what this thing that you built looks like or what it’s a door to.” Danny frowned as a thought occurred to him. “You’re not expecting me to fight whatever comes out of it, are you? Because, unless you’ve got a ghost portal down there, I can’t make guarantees.”
“It’s called the Tesseract,” said Coulson. “It’s supposed to be a connection to the other side of space. A source of unlimited energy. At least,” there was a note of humor in his voice despite the evacuation taking place around them, “that’s what the scientists say.”
“A door to space?” asked Danny, firmly shoving down his excitement at the prospect. “Like, a Stargate?” It was no good, he could practically feel himself sparkling. He took a firm grip of his core and reminded himself he might need to fight before the end of the day.
“Well, no,” said Coulson. “It’s this little… cube… thing.” He made a shape with his hands.
“Oh,” said Danny, mind still whirring. “You know, if it’s really a tesseract, it isn’t a cube in just three dimensions, so bigger things could come out of it than you’d think.” He’d seen some weird portals in the Ghost Zone.
“Well, right now, we’re just getting energy.” They entered a large room with an extremely sci-fi setup. It looked like they were planning to shoot some kind of laser across the room onto a platform surrounded by strange-looking panels. There were men with guns scattered around in what was probably a well thought out formation Danny couldn’t see. There was also a dude with a bow sitting up in the rafters. He frowned down at Danny as he noticed Danny noticing him.
“Dr. Selvig!”
“Director!”
“What do we know?”
Danny allowed himself to be distracted by the centerpiece of the room, a piece of machinery built around what was indeed a little cube thing. He tilted his head and approached, trying to get a better view of it around the people in lab coats and protective gear currently swarming it. He caught mention of radiation a grimaced.
It was unlikely to kill him, but, really, everyone here should probably be wearing more PPE. You never knew what was going to come out of an interdimensional portal, after all. Except trouble. Trouble was a pretty safe bet.
It was pretty. Blue. Reminded him a little of a blue raspberry ice pop. Part of him wanted to lick it. Which was stupid. He didn’t want to wind up half what-ever-lived-on-the-other-side on top of his regular ghost nonsense.
“Mr. Fenton?”
Danny jumped and turned, refocusing on the adults, who had multiplied while he’d been daydreaming. The guy with the bow had joined them.
“Mr. Fenton? Like the Doctors Fenton I spoke to earlier?” asked Selvig.
“Yeah, it’s—”
This, of course, was when everything decided to explode. Sort of.
The blue cube shot out a beam of energy that had more than a little in common with the Fenton Bazooka’s portal setting. The beam terminated on the platform, a portal rapidly forming.
Danny slid into a fighting stance, and barely even noticed as blue energy washed over the room, throwing many less-prepared people back.
Something shaped like a man stepped through the portal.
Danny did not break his stance. Still. “An alien,” he whispered, eyes wide. If they were friendly, maybe they’d answer his questions about space. If they weren’t friendly, maybe they’d answer his questions about space after Danny beat them up.
(Danny did not go ghost. Did not even think about going ghost. There were too many people here, and the space was too open.)
Fury attempted to negotiate. Danny approved. Not everything that came through an interdimensional portal was necessarily evil.
Except this guy apparently was. Go figure. He could also deflect bullets and was very good with throwing knives, which led to Danny having to pull several of the gun guys out of their own line of fire as well as the alien’s line of knife. Who would have thought an alien’s weapon of choice would be throwing knives? The energy-blasting spear was much more in line with his expectations.
The bow guy proved to be more competent than the gun guys. This didn’t really surprise Danny. Bow guy sort of had to be competent. Otherwise, no way would they let him go around with a bow. Like, seriously. A bow.
Even so, bow guy was fighting an alien and—
“You have heart,” said the alien, raising the spear.
Danny pushed bow guy out of the way, and his mind fuzzed out.
(The human part of it, anyway.)
.
Loki didn’t know what a child was doing here, and he didn’t particularly care. The boy would do for a hostage, at least. He had a mission he had to fulfil, or else…
Or else.
“Please don’t,” he said turning with a shadow of his usual lazy affect, vaguely insulted that the human thought he could be sneaker that him, “I still need that.”
The human went on and on, apparently burdened with the delusion that he was on the same level as Loki.
Loki was burdened with other things. A glorious purpose. Glad tidings. Freedom. What could be better than freedom?
“A world free from what?” asked the human.
“From freedom,” said Loki, and wasn’t that what he believed, now? Wasn’t that what he’d been shown? “Freedom is life’s great lie.” He would know. He was an excellent liar. “Once you accept that, in your heart—” He batted away an arrow and tsked. “Shield me, boy,” he demanded. Had Thanos misrepresented the scepter’s powers? Or was the boy merely—
A dome of green surrounded him and the boy, thrumming with magic the likes of which he had only seen once, in a tome thrice forbidden.
“Oh,” said Loki, almost purring. “You are interesting. What are you?”
“Half human, half ghost,” replied the boy, tersely.
Loki had never heard of such a creature. No matter. He’d be sure to make good use of him.
“Grab the scientist,” he said, nodding at the balding man who had been with his brother when he’d fought the Destroyer in the desert.
Loki wanted the archer. He seemed interesting. Useful.
.
Fenton was under thrall. Phantom knew what that felt like. A hundred feet under red water, trying not to drown, whispers everywhere. Pulling. Pushing. Prodding.
This was different, but the principle was the same.
Neither half of him could truly ‘fight’ the other. Fenton and Phantom were a single entity. Not two in lockstep. Even so.
Fenton grabbed onto Dr. Selvig, as ordered. Phantom made sure that was all they did.
“What are you doing, boy?” snapped Loki. “Follow me! Bring the scientist.”
And so, they followed.
.
Loki breathed. Acquiring Barton had been the right choice. The boy was powerful, but, perhaps because of his unique biology, did not have Barton’s presence of mind, and couldn’t have led him to such wonderful allies.
Allies.
These weren’t truly his allies. Nor were they subjects. They were…
Loki forced himself to breathe. He just had to follow the mission. Follow the mission, let Thanos’s army through. He’d been promised this world. He would have this world.
And then he could be… His mind stuttered over the next word, and he shook his head, trying to drive out the painful buzz of Thanos’s herald and mouthpiece trying to contact him.
He looked up at the drones bustling around, all according to his will. Except the boy, who stared at him, somehow managing to be both utterly blank and challenging at the same time.
He was alone, here.
He was alone.
But what did it matter? Bad men always wound up alone, and Loki… Loki could never be a good man.

fighter kirishima who doesn't like it when other people even stare for one second at his partner, so then he just kills anyone who dares to stand less than 2ft from his darling 😌👍
Tw:noncon implication, implied murder
“Why’re you standing so far away babe?”
You’re not, he’s got his arms wrapped around your waist to the point of crushing your hips.
“‘M not, just couldn’t breathe.”
“Oh good, for a moment there I was worried you were looking at that guy again.
That guy referring to the blond haired weirdo who kept laughing and pointing at the losers of the ring like a maniac.
Right, like you were totally head over heels for the one weirdo in the entire basement.
Except your “boyfriend “ maybe. He could definitely take that title.
Well, maybe not weirdo. Maybe Possessive Controling Freak would be a better name for him, instead of Kirishima.
And just to drive the point home, he soothingly rubs his calloused hand up and down your arm while the next match rages on in front of you both.
It’s not soothing, on the contrary it seems like a threat.
He just amps it up from then on any time he feels like your attention is elsewhere or if he feels like other men are looking at you for a second too long.
First it’s taking on arm and tightly squeezing it. Then, he puts one leg of yours over his thigh much to your embarrassment.
Eventually he just picks you up and plops you on his lap. While he thinks he’s keeping other men at bay with this tactic, it’s doing the complete opposite.
Because these testosterone filled savages are quite enjoying the scene with your limbs being toyed with and thrown over a man like the rest of them, your ragdoll-maneuvered body a promise of something they might be able to one day get a taste of.
The entirety of the fight goes by dreadfully slow because all you can focus on is how long Kiri’s hands dip in and out of the crevice of your legs way too casually. His hands settle comfortably under your shirt and across your boobs, which can be seen by literally everyone when they catch a glimpse of an evident hand on your chest.
He prevents you from squirming too much with his limbs tightening around you and disapproving grunts to your discomfort. So you sit there, stewing with rage and humiliation.
Until a distraction appears.
In the midst of the next match brawling in the ring, a smaller fight breaks out amongst the raging spectators.
It only catches both your attention when the yelling starts getting close to your area and men start throwing fists and yelling until their faces tie beet-red.
Kirishima and you both crane your heads around to see the source of the commotion, but you realize quickly that it’s getting way too intense around you, so much so that men begin lifting chairs and falling over themselves in their own battles.
You try to get up but Kiri’s hands are wrapped so tightly around your midriff that you barely manage to dislodge his arm. He’s distracted and looking around curiously at the dangerous setting and you have to frantically tap his arm to indicate it’s time to go.
But he snaps out of it too late, and a body gets punched your way, his large mass descending on your weaker frame.
You shriek and try to lift your hands up to protect yourself, but it doesn’t work. You’re slammed into and knocked clean off Kirishima’s lap onto the floor laced with blood and bits of torn clothes.
There’s a loud ringing in your ears as you blearily get up and take in your surrounds, which seem to love in slow motion around you. You belatedly think that you must’ve hit your head on the concrete floor when you fell.
Your arms ache as you groan and lift yourself up on shaky elbows, the sounds around you swim in and out of your aching head when suddenly an open hand is thrust in front of your face.
“Are you alright? I’m so sorry!”
Grimacing, you tilt your head up and see the same man who knocked you down. You’re in no condition to refuse help in such a volatile area however, so you gingerly lift your hand and grasp onto his open palm.
You find yourself being pulled up easily and crushed into the man’s body. It’s hard to push back but when you see how many bloody faces and broken limbs windmill around you decide it’s best to keep close to a safe space.
The man gently starts stepping over writhing bodies and lifting you up under your arms to ensure that you don’t trip and fall again while on your way to a clearer area.
You don’t resist, only looking up at him helplessly like a kitten being dragged by its mom from the scruff. His body is warm and toned, yet plush and comfortable to lean against when you need to. Your cranium still pounds, but your head clears a bit when you look into his surprisingly concerned grey eyes.
“You alright? Hit your head a little hard, huh? My bad.”
He sets you on a perch near the office and looks around, deeming it a less loud and crowded area for your health.
He says nothing, but you don’t sense any malice from him. He doesn’t move either though, he just leans an arm on the extension and puts another hand on his hip, scanning the screaming men and casualties as if he were looking out in a snowy field.
He might be protecting you, or looking for a good place to jump in and start swinging himself, you’re not sure.
But you’re grateful for his helpful presence, nonetheless.
And then suddenly your moment of reprieve is dismantled when you hear him frantically calling your name.
You see his head hair sticking up, spiky as ever while the top of his head bobs left and right, in circles and backwards as he tries finding you.
Your head starts to hurt again.
“Y/N! Where the hell are you?”
Eventually and unfortunately he sees your figure above the fray, and he swears you look like an angel-siting above this rifraff, your body perfectly intact unlike the rest of these thugs, your expression dazed and vulnerable like it did when you were choking on his co-
He sees the man next to you, and his vision shatters like glass when he takes in the proximity of him next to you.
Kirishima sees red.
“Hey, there you are cutie! I got scared I lost you for a sec’ there. Thanks for looking out for her man,” he smiles and shakes his hand with the steel-haired guy, crushing his grip a little too hard to be deemed grateful.
“No problem. The name’s Tetsutetsu. ‘Think I’ve seen you around here, you fight pretty good not gonna lie! When’s it gonna be my turn to match that strength in the rink?” He smiles deviously and knocks shoulders with you in jest.
While you smile uncomfortably and rub your now-bruising shoulder, Kirishima’s eye twitches at the contact and his smile starts straining as well.
But this is too easy to give up.
“Hey, that’s actually a really good idea. Why don’t we have our own little practice match after the shit here clears up?” He nods around to the ongoing pandemonium.
You look at him stricken, unsure of what he’s playing at. You’re not stupid, you can tell by his off body language that he’s not at rest or relaxed at all by this conversation.
The expression he’s making, while it might fool the himbo next to you, is extremely reminiscent of the faces he pulls when he chides gently in your ear to stop moving so fucking far away from him and soothes a hand over your head.
“Sounds good, and don’t worry, I’ll take it easy on you.” The other man laughs heartily and kicks away a stray rolling body.
Kirishima merely grins gently. “For your sake, is give it my best.”
*************
He’s strapped you to the bed-check.
You’ve been spanked black and blue-check.
A lecture has been given to your sobbing body-check.
Ointment has been slathered on the bruises-double check.
And he’s out the door at exactly 9pm, jogging his way to the bar and down the steps to the basement as a light warm up. He considers calling an ambulance before-hand, but that would mean he’d give enough mercy to leave Tetsutetsu intact…and alive.
When he bounds down the rickety steps he finds that Tetsu is already there and lightly boxing a body bag that the newbies use for practice.
He has to hold back his snort and paint his usual cheery face on, but something tells him even the dim yellow light in this room would still show the dark emotion swirling in his ruby eyes.
“What’s up bro, you made it?”
“No, I’m still at home.”
Tetsutetsu laughs heartily and doesn’t catch onto the cold bite Kirishima’s words hold.
“You’re funny. ‘Wanna warm up-“
“-Nah, actually, ‘think I’m good. Let’s just get started, I’ve been waiting for this.”
“You got it boss.”
And without further ado they both shrug off their shirts in the hot basement and ready their fists in a protective stance, circling each other.
“Y’know, when I saw you next to my girl I fantasized about caving your face in,” a punch is thrown suddenly and Tetsu is thrown off guard by the surprising agility of the bully opponent and his words.
He practically eats the hit square in the nose, his head snapping back and immediately pouring blood from his nostrils.
He coughs and staggers before realigning himself the opposite end of the fighting circle. “Wha-? Why?” The victim sounds congested from the leaking blood but his focus is only on Kirishima’s change in expression.
“Yeah, and then I saw you knock shoulders with her too…maybe I’ll cut yours off and sell ‘em for a couple hundred, whaddaya think bro?”
This time when Kirishima aims for his face again he’s ready, and he quickly dodges and strikes his face fist out.
But what he doesn’t expect is the redhead to actually catch the fist in his own larger hand and hold it in midair. He also doesn’t react in time to pull his hand out and move back when Kiri’s other fist swings low and punches so hard into his stomach that he falls to the ground, hand still captivated by Kirishima’s.
He’s never seen a man with that kinda of face on while fighting. His eyes are narrowed and dark, his mouth is set in a thin like and his whole body is taut, as if holding back his own strength.
For the first time since he’s ever been in the basement, Tetsutetsu doesn’t to fight anymore.
“Look Kirishima,” he hacks and looks wildly at him. “I don’t know if you’re upset at me for something but you gotta chill out. You can’t catch my hands like that, that’s not how you’re supposed to fight-“
“You still think I give a shit how we’re supposed to fight? No ones gonna care about strategy or sportsmanship when you’re dead, Tetsutetsu.”
His last scream is so loud and so shrill that Kirishima thinks it’s a shame it wasn’t witnessed in a real match by paying spectators.

The booming clap of thunder and the steady drumming of rain hitting the windows can be heard. The poor girl sat before us, shaking, her breath heavy and ragged. She was now wearing Mike's jacket; he had given it to her when we found her shivering in the rain. The four of us stood in front of her, gazing at her in awe and bewilderment. Lucas and Mike were to my right, Dustin on my left. Mike finally broke the silence.
"Is there a number we can call for your parents?"
"Where's your hair? Do you have cancer?"
"Dustin," I warn. Although, I'd be lying if I said it hadn't crossed my mind.
Before I can stop them, the boys continue to ask her all sorts of questions without even giving her a chance to answer.
"Did you run away?"
"Are you in some kind of trouble?"
"Is that blood?" Lucas slowly extends his arm towards the girl's face; before I can stop him, Mike beats me to it and smacks his arm away.
"Stop it! You're freaking her out!"
"She's freaking me out!"
"I bet she's deaf." Dustin then turns to look at the girl and quickly claps his hands in her face and she flinches back, clearly even more frightened, if that is at all possible.
"Not deaf." He says weakly, shrugging his shoulders.
I draw the line there. "Dustin, seriously? Do you not hear yourself? How would you feel in her position, huh?"
"Y/n's right, okay? Enough, both of you." Mike defended me and looked to Dustin and Lucas as he spoke. "She's just scared and cold." He pointed in the girl's direction as he said this.
Hearing him say that made me realize she was still in nothing but a soaking wet t-shirt and Mike's jacket. I turn to Mike. "We should probably get her some fresh clothes. Do you have any down here?" I ask.
Mike nods and heads towards a laundry basket across the room. I look back at the girl and I see her close her eyes and flinch, shrinking into herself a little as another clap of thunder boomed from outside. I cautiously took a step around to the side of the coffee table and took a seat on the edge so I was near her eye level but not so close I was invading her space.
"Hey, it's okay," I try, my voice gentle. "It's just thunder. You're gonna be okay. You're safe now."
I send her a warm, reassuring smile. She says nothing, but I swear I see gratitude in her eyes.
Mike returns with some fresh clothes.
"Here, these are clean. Okay?" She cautiously takes the clothes from him and looks at them. After a moment she brings them to her face and softly rubs them on her cheek. My sympathy for her grows stronger, who knows how long it has been since she's had a proper set of clothes. She sets them aside and shrugs Mike's jacket off of her shoulders. She rises to her feet, reaching for the bottom of the t-shirt she was wearing, clearly about to undress in front of us.
"No, no, no!" We all yell.
I jump to my feet in surprise, ripping my gaze away in panic while also attempting to reach for her hands to keep them in place. Mike tries to do the same, but he's a bit more shaken up. Meanwhile, Dustin and Lucas began freaking out, their heads turned so as to not see anything. Dustin could not stop saying, "Oh, my God!"
"See over there?" Mike points to the bathroom just across the room. "That's the bathroom. Privacy. Get it?" He asks. The girl looks ashamed and confused. She looks to the bathroom and then to me, her eyes pleading. I can tell she's afraid to be alone. I take a quick, deep breath and look at her. "You... want me in there with you?" I ask gently.
She nods and we are all surprised to hear her speak. "Yes."
"Really? Umm," I look to the guys in shock who all wear the same expression as the scene unfolds. Panicking, but also realizing by now she doesn't understand why I would be, I look back to her only to find fear in her eyes and I feel a wave of guilt. A sigh escapes and I nod. "Yeah, uh, okay. I can do that, but, you're still gonna need some privacy, okay?" I grab her clothes off the couch and I lead her to the bathroom and she looks around in curiosity.
I gesture around the bathroom awkwardly, not really knowing what to do.
"Here, I'm not gonna look, but we should close this so they don't accidentally see anything. Okay?" I gesture to the door.
Panic flooded her features, and for the first time since we found her she wore an expression of absolute certainty, speaking for the second time tonight. "No."
"Hey, its okay, it's just so that you can change in privacy. You know, so they don't accidentally see you changing? How about we close it most of the way? That way you have privacy, but you know you can still get out. Does that sound good?" She hesitates then nods her head slightly. I push the door in so it's cracked open.
I handed her Mike's spare set of clothes, doing my best to offer a small smile. "Alright, here you go,"
For a moment I think, just maybe it's okay to slip out and let her change. But then I see the look in here eyes, and it hits truly me why it's so important to her someone stays.
My smile feels a little more genuine now and it almost seems to put her at ease, just a little. "Don't worry, I'll stay."
I cross over to the other side of the bathroom, taking a seat on the closed lid of the toilet with my back turned to her. For extra measure, I even clamped my hand over my eyes, still trying to figure out my day took such a weird turn. I can her start to move around and figure she's started changing, and briefly I think of how scared she looked when the thunder rumbled.
It reminded me of how bad thunder used to scare me as kid; like really bad, and how Mom helped me through it. Even kept me company until I fell asleep, and it all made a little more sense why she asked me. It was the same reason I recognized the look in her eyes almost at once; Anxiety and genuine fear. Like I did when I was a kid, I needed that company around just to know I wasn't alone.
It only makes my mind race with a million different questions but, they're all silenced when I hear voices coming from the other room.
"This is mental." It was Dustin.
"At least she can talk." Mike defended.
"She said 'no' and 'yes.' Your three-year-old sister says more." Lucas counters. I bite my lip, trying not to yell at Lucas. If he heard her say 'no' to me from the bathroom, that obviously means that we can hear him. As much as I love those guys, they can be really insensitive.
"She tried to get naked." Dustin argued."She brought Y/n in there with her!"
I can feel my face heat up and I wish I could melt into a puddle where I sit. At least that way they could just flush me and be done with it.
"It's not like that! She's just scared," Mike defended.
"There's something seriously wrong with her. Like, wrong in the head." Said Lucas.
"She, just went like..." and then I could barely make out the muffled sound of something falling.
"I bet she escaped from Pennhurst."
"From where?" Mike sounded just as exasperated as I was feeling.
"The nuthouse in Kerley County."
"You got a lot of family there?"
"Bite me."
"Seriously though, think about it. That would explain her shaved hair and why she's so crazy."
"Why she went like..."
"She's an escapee is the point. She's probably a psycho."
"Like Michael Myers."
"Exactly! We should've never brought her here."
"So you just wanted to leave her out in that storm?"
"Yes! We went out to find Will, not another problem."
"I think we should tell your mom." Dustin offers.
"I second that."
"Who's crazy now?"
"How is that crazy?"
"'Cause, we weren't supposed to be out tonight, remember?"
"So?"
"So if I tell my mom and she tells your mom and your mom..."
"Oh, man."
"Our houses become Alcatraz."
"Exactly. We'll never find Will."
There's a brief silence, and I think about everything I just heard. Mike had a pretty good point. And I don't blame Lucas for being skeptical, I just wish he wouldn't be so harsh sometimes. If I can hear their conversation, that means she can. I can't imagine what she must be going through right now.
"All right, here's the plan. She sleeps here tonight."
"You're letting a girl --"
"Just listen! In the morning, she sneaks around my house, goes to the front door and rings my doorbell. My mom will answer and know exactly what to do. She'll send her back to Pennhurst or wherever she comes from. We'll be totally in the clear. And tomorrow night, we go back out. And this time, we find Will."
I feel a light tap on my shoulder and I turn around to see the girl had changed. She had sad look on her face and I don't blame her at all.
"Feeling better?" I ask. She meets my eyes for a brief moment and nods, looking back down at her feet.
I sigh and lower my voice into a whisper, trying to undo all the damage the boys just unknowingly caused. "Hey, I'm sorry they said all those things. You'll be in good hands here with that boy Mike; the guy who gave you the clothes, he's really nice, and it sounds like you'll be staying with him."
I stood up, eyeing the door and my friends who I could barely see through the slat we left open and I turned back to her.
"By the way... You don't have to answer any of those questions if you're not ready. That was unfair of them to do that. If you ever need anything... or someone to talk to, even after we get everything sorted out, well, I'm here." I shrug, giving her a reassuring smile before opening the door, leading her out of the bathroom.
Lucas and Dustin were standing at the bottom of the stairs, ready to head out. I follow their gaze to find Mike had made a small fort for the girl.
Mike was helping the girl get settled inside. "Here you go. This is my sleeping bag."
"You really think she's psycho?" Dustin whispered.
"Wouldn't want her in my house." Before Lucas could head up the stairs I spoke up.
"We heard everything."
Lucas and Dustin stopped and looked at me, worried.
"What?"
"All those nasty things you were saying back there, we heard every word. She heard every word... Just go. Dustin, I'll catch up in a few minutes. Bye." I threw them a flat, angry look as I shook my head and walked away. As I made my way over to the fort I took note of the silence behind me, followed by reluctant footsteps up the stairs.
"Hey, um, I never asked your name." Mike said trying to make conversation. I kneeled down next to Mike.
The girl looks at us both, then without saying anything, she pulls up her left sleeve to reveal a tattoo on the inside of her wrist. It read '011'. My eyes widen in shock.
"Woah," I can't help but gasp.
"Is that real?" Mike asks excitedly as he reaches over to touch the tattoo. She quickly retracts her arm and looks at Mike. There's an awkward silence apart from the booming thunder outside.
"Sorry, I've just... never seen a kid with a tattoo before." He apologized sheepishly.
"Can I ask what it means?" I say.
She looks at me and then points a finger towards herself.
"So, that's your name? Eleven?" I confirm.
She nods her head and then looks down at her lap.
"Eleven. Okay." Mike says, perking up. "Um, well, my name's Mike. Short for Michael, and this is my friend Y/n. He's Dustin's brother." Eleven looks over at me and I smile politely, giving her a small wave.
"Maybe we can call you 'El.' Short for Eleven." Mike offers. She nods her head in agreement. There's a silence and I can tell Mike likes her already.
"Um, well, okay," I say, trying to break the silence. "El, it was nice meeting you. And, like I said, if you need anything at all, I'm here. And so is Mikey here, of course," I say, looking over at Mike, giving him a knowing look, a smirk on my face. "Unfortunately, I have to head home so, I'll see you guys later."
I smile and grab my jacket. As i head for the stairs, I turn to both of them and send them a little wave. "Bye!"
Mide nods at me, the girl, El watching curiously as I go. That's the last I see of them as I dissapear up the steps.
I could hear Mike stuttering a 'goodnight' to El as I make it to the top. Clearly, I caught him off guard. I smile to myself, thinking.
'Ohh, he has so got it bad.'
I parked my bike in its usual spot and made it through the front door quiet enough so my mom won't hear.
Most of the lights were turned off, my mom must have gone to bed already just as I suspected. I heard an obnoxious meowing near my feet and look down to see Mews. I kneel down and pet this attention starved cat knowing that's the only way she will ever quiet down. I don't know how she can be attention starved when Mom doted on her as much as she does.
Mews lets out a deep purr and leans into my hand as I give her head a few scratches. I take off my shoes and set them by the front door before sneaking back into my room.
I flip on the light switch and stare at my slightly messy room and sigh at the events of today. I close my door so I can change into my pj's and tidy up a bit. Once I'm done I open my door so it's ajar, knowing that Mews likes to come and go throughout the house as she pleases. I sit down on the side of my bed and sigh heavily.
My eyes are fixed on the floor, particularly the different shadows that were being cast from my lamp on my bedside table as my thoughts wandered back to the fruitless efforts of tonight.
The stress and constant worrying have taken its toll on me. It breaks my heart to know that my best friend is somewhere out there lost and probably hurt. I guess a big part of me was sure that we were going to find Will in those woods out by Mirkwood tonight. I should have known better.
I feel something on my leg and I look down to see tear stains on my pajama bottoms. I hadn't even realized I had started crying. I sniffle, wiping my nose and grab the stuffed duck that was sitting on my bed. Will had won it for me. I give it a tight hug, a small smile creeps its way onto my face at the memory.
- 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 -
It was the first Saturday of summer vacation and the five of us had gone to the arcade for a much-deserved celebration. We all filed into the arcade, I followed Mike, Dustin, and Lucas as we made our way to Dustin's favorite game Dig Dug, Will and I side by side, buzzing with the excitement of the new summer ahead of us.
There was a brief moment of comfortable silence as we looked around the arcade. We passed by all the familiar games including the infamous claw game. I spare a glance at its contents and notice an adorable bright yellow duck perched in the front of the glass.
I smile and point at the stuffed duck. "Oh! That duck is so cute!" I admired it for a brief moment and catch up with Dustin, assuming Will is still next to me.
( hats off to the folk who understand this reference!! 😎 )
About twenty minutes later I had just beaten Mike's high score on Pac Man. All the boys watched over my shoulder and I couldn't help but cheer out. "Ha! Say, Mike, how does my dust taste?"
"Oh, whatever. You only beat me by," he leans over my shoulder to look at my score. "Holy crap! 1300 points?! Alright, well done." He sighs.
"Hey Will, you owe me 5 bucks!" I turn to my friend only to not see him there. I look around in confusion.
"Wait, guys, where is Will?"
They all shrug.
"I don't know, the last time I saw him he was with you. When we got here." Lucas shrugged.
I look around until I spot the familiar bowl cut by the claw machine. He must have won something since he was leaning down to grab some prize from the machine. I quickly grab my tickets and abandon the machine and meet him by the claw, he made eye contact with me and quickly put his hands behind his back.
"Hey, man. Where have you been? You just missed it. I just annihilated Mike in Pac Man. It was awesome!"
"I, um... Well, I, uh," he scratched the back of his head awkwardly as he stammered.
I breathed out a soft laugh. "Will, it's fine, you're not on trial or anything."
"Well I noticed you seemed to really like that duck and it seemed easy enough, and um, and so yeah, I played a couple rounds and, well here." His words sort of spilled out of his mouth and he quickly pulled out his hand from behind his back and handed me the cute little stuffed duck from earlier. A huge, beaming smile finds it's way onto my face as I take the duck from him.
"Oh, wow!" I gasped as I took the duck from him. "That's awesome, thank you! I love it! Aww, it's so cute!" I gave the duck a big squeeze and held it under my arm.
"Yeah, uh no problem. So you said you beat Mike's score? That's great! By how much?" He seems more relaxed now that he's changed the subject.
"You'll never believe it, 1300 points!" I said smugly.
"No way! Y/n, that's awesome!" He gave me a big smile.
"I know right? Anyways, come on, let's hit up Space Invaders. We've got more records to beat." I motioned towards the machine, but Will doesn't move. His smile only falters. "What's wrong Byers? Come on, we better hurry before someone else gets to it." I give him a smile, silently urging him to come along.
"Yeah, umm about that... I don't have any money left. I um, I kinda spent it all on the claw." He said sheepishly.
"What?" I stare in disbelief. I can't believe he would do that.
"I'm sorry, I just thought that—" he stammered.
"No, Will, hey! I'm not mad!" I soothe as I reach out and put a hand on his shoulder to calm him.
"And please, don't be sorry. If anything, I'm sorry. You spent all your money just to get this duck. I know you guys are tight on money right now, and well, I—" I stopped, completely appalled at his actions. "Thank you. That means so much to me. You're amazing." I smile and pull him in for a hug.
The hug lingers for a few moments longer than necessary but not enough to make it too awkward. He was hesitant to let go it seemed. I finally broke the hug and gave him another big grin.
"Come on, I am playing Space Invaders with my favorite person, whether he likes it or not. I've still got a buttload of coins."
"But, you don't have to do that."
"You didn't have to spend all your money getting the duck but you did anyway." I point out. He smiles at this.
"Besides," I continued. "You know me, I'd feel way too guilty if I didn't repay you in some way for the duck. This way, we'll be even. What do you say?" I playfully elbow him.
A big grin breaks out on his face. "Yeah okay, cool. Thanks."
- 𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 -
I smile fondly as I give the ever so slightly worn duck a squeeze. It quickly became one of my favorite things. A quiet sob escapes my lips as I hug the duck.
"Y/n?" My head shot up to my door to see Dustin poking his head in my room, concern etched on his face.
I sniffle and quickly wipe my nose with the back of my hand as I attempt to stop my sobs.
"Sorry," I mumble, figuring I'd annoyed him.
"Y/n, what's wrong?" Dustin asks worriedly, he takes a seat next to me, not before closing the door behind him.
"I'm sorry, I just," I am unable to hold back another sob, I lean into my brother's shoulder. He wraps an arm around my shoulder as he tries to comfort me.
"Seriously, are you okay? What's the matter?"
"I miss him," I wail. I can feel Dustin's body stiffen for a brief moment at the mention of Will. He sighs and runs his hand up and down my shoulder, trying to comfort me.
"I know," his voice sounds hoarse, like he's trying not to cry. "I miss him too."
"What if, he doesn't come back?" I choke on my sobs.
"You shouldn't talk like that. We'll find him. You know him, he's good at hiding. If something did get him, you just know he's hiding. That's why the clever bastard never bites it in our campaigns, even when we do."
I breathe out a soft chuckle at this. Dustin has a point. It seems no matter what kind of trouble he gets into during our campaigns, he always seems to find a way out. It's become a running joke in our party.
My smile falters. "But what if..."
"Y/n, you can't keep doing this to yourself. No more 'what ifs' it's not healthy, and—"
"Well, I can't help it, Dustin!" I snap, cutting him off. "I just... I just can't. You don't understand. You think I like it when my brain won't stop plaguing me with these god awful scenarios that gnaw at me every second? I can't help it, it's so draining! Why do you think it takes so long to come down from my anxiety attacks?"
My eyes are welling up again and my vision has become blurry. All I can do is look down back at the ground.
Dustin only sighs. "I'm sorry. I had no idea."
I sniffle and sigh. "I'm sorry too. It just gets so frustrating not being able to communicate my feelings with people who don't deal with anxiety like I do."
"I just... I just hope he's okay." Hot tears slide down my face as I stare at the wall. I heard a sniffle come from Dustin. We stayed like that for quite some time, longing for our friend.

A//N: I put this in because I think it's important that I share this with you all. I don't ever see any fics with a reader with an anxiety disorder and I thought it was important that I do because as someone who struggles with anxiety and someone who has anxiety attacks all the time, I often feel disconnected from the story, anyway I thought that I should shed some light on the subject as well as let readers with anxiety disorders feel included and represented as well as let you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOUR DISORDER DOES NOT DEFINE YOU. PLEASE DM ME (A LIVING BREATHING PERSON WITH AN ANXIETY DISORDER) IF ANY OF YOU WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE WHO STRUGGLES WITH THIS AND/OR YOU WANT TO ASK QUESTIONS TO LEARN MORE.

We’re Us
A little commishy for my bxtch @thinger-strang.

This shit is SOFT

“Dustin, we all saw that fireball hit you,” Will said accusatorily, gesturing to the red bean bag on the ground at Dustin’s feet.
“Okay, first of all, you’re supposed to call a pause of play before using my real name,” Dustin said, all in one breath. “And second of all, the fireball only hit my lute, therefore I sustained no physical damage.” Dustin gestured to the cereal box that was taped to a jump rope, slung over his shoulder like it was a prized instrument.
“No, it didn’t. We all saw it hit your shoulder. You’d lose that arm at least, and take probably, like, fifty damage points.” Lucas pretended to aim a bow and arrow at Dustin while he spoke.
Dustin was getting dangerously close to huffy territory.
“Fine. Whatever. I’ll take the stupid damage points. Can we resume play yet?”
Everyone nodded, and they fell right back into battle.
It wasn’t often they took the game off the DnD board, but the weather was perfect, summer beginning to make itself known a little earlier than usual, giving them April days that were clear and perfect and made for the best LARP sessions known to Indiana.
Will aimed a fireball at Max, and launched it right as she darted out of the way. It sailed past her, missing her left hand by less than an inch, and she laughed wildly, raising her pool noodle sword and aiming blow after blow at him.
The bean bag hit the fence and went spiraling awkwardly into the small alley between the house and the old wooden fence
It was Will’s last fireball, and he hurried to retrieve any he could reach, dodging as best as he could around Max’s wild sword-wielding.
She tended to wallop them as hard as she could, somehow knocking the wind out of them with her soft excuse for a sword.
Will scrambled to pick up his bean bag from the overgrown grass and curling weeds, catching his breath quickly in the alley where he couldn’t be seen.
And then a sound drew his attention away from the battle.
It was a soft sound. He wouldn’t have heard it if the rest of the party had been so quietly focused on battling one another less than twenty feet away.
But he did hear it, and his head whipped around to find the source of it.
Steve and Billy.
Against the house.
Kissing.
It was like time stood still.
Like Will had been hit by one of Mage El’s freezing bombs.
Steve had Billy pushed up against the side of the house, their bodies pressed flush together.
Steve was clearly propping up Billy with his body, Billy’s mobility cane, the one he had let them cover in stickers, was laying forgotten on the ground.
Billy’s arms were wrapped around Steve’s shoulders, his hands curled in the fabric of Steve’s t-shirt. Steve had his arms wrapped around Billy’s waist, half holding him close, half not letting him fall without his cane.
They were kissing like they were trying to devour one another, and Will realized that the sound he had heard was a moan.
It wasn’t like seeing Lucas and Max kiss, or Mike or El, or even Nancy and Jonathan.
Seeing Billy and Steve,
Will knew he shouldn’t be seeing them.
He knew this was wrong, and people said two boys kissing was foul and bad.
But this didn’t look anything but, well, loving.
The way Steve was making sure Billy didn’t fall while they kissed, the way sometimes they would pull back and smile, their faces never moving more than a few inches away from one another.
One of Billy’s rough hands left its place clawed in Steve’s t-shirt, reaching forward to brush one thumb clumsily down his cheek.
They pulled back from one another, smiling stupidly, still staring into each other’s eyes.
Billy brushed his thumb down Steve’s cheek again, and Steve moved like he was nuzzling into the touch, turning his head to the right, pressing a kiss to Billy’s rough, scarred palm.
It made Will feel like he was floating in space with nothing keeping him down.
Steve pressed a kiss to Billy’s cheek, then his nose, then his other cheek, and Billy’s cheeks flushed and he giggled, a sound that was so foreign to Billy Hargrove it almost made Will rub his eyes to make sure he was seeing the right person.
And Billy smiled, so calmly and easily.
It made his whole face change. He looked like a completely different person.
And Will realized, he’s never actually seen Billy smile like this.
The only times he’d come close, we tight tiny things that never reached his eyes and were dropped within a second or two.
This was a genuine smile, full of genuine happiness, and god -
They’re in love.
They’re two boys, and they’re standing right in front of Will and they’re in love.
They went back to kissing, moving their heads slowly side to side, their mouths opening and closing and Will was so aware of having never kissed anyone before.
“Will, seriously! I’ve been yelling for you-”
Mike stopped talking the second he rounded the house.
He was stalk still, his mouth hanging open like a dead fish at what he saw.
Will’s heart was thundering against his ribcage, and he tried to push Mike back towards the game, pleading quietly at him to move.
And then the rest of the group was joining them. Faces mirroring Mike’s dead fish expression as they stared, open-mouthed, at Steve and Billy.
Will had his back to them, but in the quiet, he could hear. He could hear the soft sounds and the moans, and even the giggles that made his face go hot and his stomach do a whole gymnastics routine inside of him.
Will was staring at each of his friends in turn, pleading with them to just turn right around, and continue on with play as nothing had ever interrupted their battle.
Like they haven’t just stumbled on a huge and dangerous secret.
He went as far as to push Lucas, gently shoving him backward saying go! Go! Under his breath.
The last thing he needed was for Steve and Billy to notice them here. To realize what they had seen. What they know.
And then-
“What the fuck?”
Billy and Steve broke apart, looking towards the entrance of the alley, and seeing all six of the party, staring at them.
Max had been the one to speak, and she was looking at Billy oddly, almost like she didn’t know who he was.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked, her voice quavering slightly.
Billy looked like he wanted to ground to swallow him right up.
Steve scrambled for the forgotten cane, keeping one hand on Billy’s elbow as he crouched down.
The movement made Will’s stomach flop over.
It was practiced.
Once Billy was standing on his own with the cane, Steve approached the kids calmly, his hands raised up like they were all wild animals that might attack at any moment.
“Look, I know how this looks, and you guys can’t-”
“It looks like, you guys were making out .” Dustin’s tone was hollow, and he looked as struck dumb as the rest of them.
“I know, and I mean, yeah. We were, but you need to listen -”
“Steve.”
Steve whipped right around when he heard the murmur.
Billy was standing slumped over against the house, one scarred, shaking hand covering his face, the other clutched so tightly to his cane his knuckles were white.
“Bill, I’m here, okay? I’m not going anywhere. You’re okay.” Steve rushed to Billy’s side, holding onto his elbow again, brushing his fingers softly through Billy’s short hair, winding his fingers through the wild curls that were just long enough to form. “I’ll deal with this. It’s okay. They’re not going to tell.” Steve glared at the kids when he said that, as if daring them to argue.
Billy kinda, fell forward, leaning against Steve once again, his face going into Steve’s neck.
Steve didn’t react, still brushing his fingers through sandy blond curls.
“You all know what could happen to us if people found out?”
Nobody answered him.
Truth is, they did know.
They knew the stories about young men being beaten nearly to death. Being run out of town or put in the hospital over nothing but a rumor.
Being gay wasn’t something that was tolerated in Hawkins.
Hell, Will himself has been pushed around and called queer as long as he could remember.
Even by his own father.
“We won’t tell anyone.” Will felt like how Billy looked. Like he was shaking apart right in front of them. “I promise. We won’t. Not anyone.” He could barely get the words out. It was like his jaw had locked up with the rest of his bones.
He thinks it would kill him if anything happened to Billy and Steve over this. They needed to keep them safe.
He needed to keep them safe.
“Yeah. I promise,” El parroted. Steve beamed at them.
Will knew El had been very confused the first time she heard about Ryan Anderson, the high school sophomore that had been humiliated and beaten so badly his family had to leave town six years ago.
She didn’t understand how a boy that liked to kiss other boys was something that merited violence.
Hopper had surprised them all by saying that it didn’t, but some people felt like it did.
Who you kiss doesn’t matter as much as who you are. If you’re a good person, it’s all just extra fodder. But some people like to they’re better than anyone that’s different than they are.
El had called those people bad and that was the end of it.
“Billy, I won’t tell.” Max didn’t take her eyes off Billy while she spoke. “I swear. I’ll never tell anyone. Not even mom.”
Billy’s hand flexed on the handle of the cane, and his knees gave a wobble. Steve kept him upright, leaning over to murmur into his ear.
Will could just barely make out the words I’ve got you.
“I promise, too.” Dustin’s cereal box/lute was forgotten on the grass at his feet. “The party protects each other. It’s one of our laws.”
“Yeah, we stick together. This isn’t different.” Max gave Lucas a watery smile when he spoke up in turn.
Mike was quiet.
It was well-known how much he disliked both Steve and Billy.
All of the kids had some trouble trusting Billy after everything that had happened last summer. Billy didn’t seem to blame them. He kept to himself, even when he moved from his cold room in the military hospital into the Byers’ spare bedroom seven months ago, he was like a ghost moving through the house.
Only Steve could make him come out of his shell in those early days. Only Steve could make Billy join them for dinner and movie nights, take slow walks around the yard with his walker, and later with his cane. Only Steve could make Billy’s shoulders relax from their defensive position up around his ears, and now, it was finally dawning on everyone why.
The kids mostly left him alone, only Max and El bridging the gap and actually speaking to him. Max had been determined to see Billy through his recovery, glaring at him and watching like a ginger hawk while he did his physical therapy, practicing his grip and moving buttons from one bowl to another.
El would sometimes talk to Billy in a hushed voice. She would get him on his own and hush words like Papa and Mama and bad and Billy would have to retreat to his bedroom for slowly decreasing amounts of time.
Nobody but Joyce and Hopper knew what she saw in Billy’s head. They were just informed that he wouldn't be returning home after his two-month stint in the military hospital. Max hard clenched her jaw and nodded jerkily and nobody dared ask any further questions.
He and Will traded a lot of good mornings and tended to generally avoid eye contact when they came across one another in the house.
But none of them hated him, they were just a little weary.
Mike, on the other hand, had some unexplained vendetta against both Billy and Steve and Will found himself willing Mike to be kind in this moment. To not see this as some power over them, or something.
“Okay,” he said slowly. “Dustin’s right. We protect each other.”
Steve gave them a smile that was so dazzling and bright, it almost gave off its own light.
His eyes were shining and he gave a watery laugh.
“They really meant it when they said children are the future.”
“Who said?” El asked him.
“I don’t know, actually. Just people, I guess.” Steve shrugged, jostling Billy who was still nestled in his shoulder. “Look, seriously guys, thank you. I can’t even imagine how I would’ve felt if-nevermind.” He cut himself off quickly, shaking his head. “It just means a lot. To both of us.” Steve smiled at them one last time, this time much softer and thoughtful. “You’re good kids.”
Nobody said anything else. They didn’t know what to say to Steve.
“I came back here to get my fireballs. I, uh, I got ‘em.”
Everyone looked back at Will, and, almost like they were coming out of a trance, began picking their makeshift weapons back off the grass, and chattering idly as they went back to the yard in order to continue their battle.
Will lingered for a second, looking over his shoulder at Steve and Billy, who were still wound together.
They were talking softly, and Will was pleased to see Billy lift his head back up, still looking pale and nervous, but smiling at Steve.
He leaned back down and planted a kiss on Steve’s neck, right above the edge of his t-shirt.
Will felt his face go hot, and tugged himself away, going back to the game.
It wasn’t until well after dinner, when everyone else had gone home, that they spoke about it again.
Will. Will! Do you copy? Over.
The static rasping of Mike’s voice through the walkie-talkie was coming from under Will’s bed where he had stashed it.
He quickly turned down the volume dial on the side before answering.
“Yeah, Mike. I copy. Over.”
“We need to talk about today,” Mike said through the walkie. “I mean, did you have any idea? Over.”
“No. I didn’t,” Will said, truthfully. Finding out had made a lot of things clunk into place, but that doesn’t mean Will knew. “Over.”
“It’s just, neither of them seem the type. You know? Over.”
Something about that statement didn’t sit too right with Will.
Before he could respond another voice crackled through the channel.
“This is gold leader joining the conversation to let Mike know he’s being a dick. Over.”
Will laughed. Trust Dustin to listen in on the conversation and come forward to defend Steve.
“Lucas, do you copy, too? Over.” Will waited a moment after he asked.
“Yeah, I copy. I wanted to hear what you all were saying first. I don’t really know what to think about all this. Over.”
“I don’t think there’s much to think about. Steve seems happy. Billy too, I guess. Over,” said Dustin.
Will’s heart swelled with a pride he didn’t quite understand at Dustin’s words.
Outside in the hall, the phone rang.
Will heard his mom scramble to pick it up, calling softly down the hall for Billy, and the unmistakable thumping of Billy and his cane coming to take the call.
He heard his mom scrape a chair over for him and retreat to her room, giving him some privacy.
“It’s just scary, you know? Like, something really bad could happen to them if anyone else found out.” Will thought for a second. “You think anyone else knows? Over.”
“Robin. She was making comments to Steve a few days ago about his secret relationship and I kept asking him about it until he punched me in the arm. She knows. Over.”
“I’m just confused,” Mike sighed down the line. “Steve dated my sister for like, a year. And Billy is always disgusting and flirting with my mom. Or at least, he would do that. You know, before. Over.”
“Yeah, that’s just Billy being Billy,” Max chimed in.
“You have to say over when you’re finished. Over.”
“ Fine, dickheads. Over.”
“That makes sense, but Steve and Nancy doesn’t. Over.”
“Lucas, it doesn’t have to make sense. David Bowie says he likes guys and girls. Billy has, like, three different magazines where he says that. Over.”
“Max is right. We don’t have to understand any of this. They seem happy, and good together, and that doesn’t really concern us. Over.” Will was hoping he could speed through the rest of this conversation. He could hear Billy in the hall, shifting and murmuring something Will couldn’t make out but was dying to overhear.
He had a feeling he knew who was calling.
“But, now it does concern us. We know. And as we’ve previously established, the more people that know, the more danger they could be in. Over .” Dustin almost sounded as though he might cry.
“Then, we can’t talk about it. Not unless we know for a fact that we aren’t going to be overheard. And maybe we should give them codenames. Only call them something like Han and Leia when there’s a chance of someone listening in. Over.”
“I like Lucas’s codename idea, but I’d rather die than call them Han and Leia. Over.”
“Okay, Mike, it was the first thing that came into my head! What, you think you have a better idea? Over.”
“I don’t know. Harold and Maude? Over.”
“That’s stupid, Mike. Clearly, they’re Bert and Ernie. Over.”
Will snorted at Max’s suggestion. He heard Billy coughing wildly in the hall. He listened carefully to him until it died down and he knew it wasn’t a bad one.
“I think we’ve come to an agreement. If we need further discussion, codenames: Bert and Ernie. Okay, my mom wants me to spend time with her tonight. So this is gold leader, signing off. Over and out.”
“I’m going too. Over and out,” Mike said.
“Over and out,” said El, not surprising any of them that she was listening in. She did that a lot. Simply listen to her own walkie, and when asked why she didn’t say anything would shrug and go nothing to add. They only asked that she sign off so that they knew she got whatever information they had discussed.
Everyone followed with their own sign-offs, and Will twisted the top knob on his walkie, shutting it off.
There was a moment of silence out in the hall, and then three beats on Will’s door.
He found Billy on the other side, slumped in the chair under the phone, his cheeks going red.
“Can’t get up,” he grunted. “Can’t reach the hook.”
Will didn’t say anything, nodding quickly and avoiding eye contact as he took the phone, placing it carefully back on the hook.
Billy got stuck in chairs fairly often.
His core muscles had been slashed up worse than anything else, and sometimes he just needed a good pull up.
Will took hold of his wrist, leaning his body weight backward to yank Billy to standing.
Billy kept his weight heavily on his cane, patting Will once on the upper arm in thanks.
“You guys know Steve has one of your little walkie-talkies, right?”
“ What ?”
Will genuinely didn’t know that.
“Dustin gave him one. I don’t know when, but he’s got it.”
“So, uh, so he heard. Everything.”
“And relayed it all to me through an embarrassing amount of tears, by the sounds of it.”
But Will could see that Billy’s eyes were brighter than usual in the dark, and suddenly Will remembered that there had been a wet spot on Billy’s sleeve.
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine. I mean, well, you’re good kids. All of you.” Billy patted him on the shoulder again. “I was shitting myself out there when you found us. Thought for sure one a’ yous would go squealing.”
“Maybe we would’ve. Before.”
“Never thought I’d be grateful for nearly being turned inside-out.”
“And I never thought I’d be grateful for being found dead in the water, but here we are.”
“Yeah, shit’s pretty weird if you stop and think about it for a few minutes. Near-death experiences really put your sexuality in perspective.”
“Is that why you two started dating? Perspective?”
Billy huffed a breath, looking up towards the ceiling. He coughed twice, and Will could pretty much hear his lungs rattle and crackle.
“Yeah. ‘S why we started dating. Both of us kinda realized there’s no sense in feeling like shit about the things that can actually make you feel not like shit.”
“So, you’re in love? Both of you?”
Billy’s cheeks were flooded with color, the deep red spreading all the way back to the tips of his ears.
“I think so. We’re both a little too fucked in the head to say it, but,” he shrugged lamely, not bothering to finish his thought, and looking anywhere but at Will.
He gets it, though.
Fucked up parents make for fucked up kids.
Will considered himself the luckiest person on Earth, and any kinda parallel universe, that he had his mom to stop, and later heal, all the damage his dad had caused.
“Well, I’m glad that you have it. Both of you. I mean, we saw you guys. And after everything, it's good that you’re happy.” And Will meant it.
Even before last summer, he had never seen Billy look the way he did when he was kissing Steve. Look that calm, and relaxed, and that goddamn happy. It really meant something.
Especially to Will.
Because he had never thought of someone looking that happy when they kissed someone else.
He had never thought of a boy looking that happy when he kissed another boy.
Billy surveyed Will for a moment, still leaning heavily on his cane in the hallway.
Will had the suspicion that Billy could see right through him.
“He came to visit me a lot when I was in the hospital. Steve, I mean. I don’t know why he did. It’s not like we were friends or anything. But one of those days, when I was barely awake he started talking about everything that happened those couple days.” Billy shifted closer to the wall, bracing himself with one hand as he lowered himself back into the chair. “The Russians. I don’t know what he’s told you kids, but it wasn’t pretty.”
“He hasn’t said anything. I mean, we all saw how he looked after, so we figured maybe he got in a fight.”
Billy chewed on his bottom lip.
“Look, you gotta swear not to tell any of the others this, but, uh, it was a bit more than a fight.”
Billy was giving him a meaningful look and something churned around in Will’s stomach.
“Torture?”
Billy gave a tiny, shaky nod.
“He started talking about it. Said after that, he started thinkin’ about shit different. Said he thought he was gonna die down there and that nothing would change without him. It was heavy, and I was mostly feeling the same way, and I think that’s why he told me. Knew that I could get it. After that he kept visiting, and I noticed that I didn’t hurt as much when he was there. Or maybe I did, but having him there, squinting at the t.v. ‘cause he can’t see worth a’ shit, or making some stupid comment about a nurse on the floor just made it easier. He makes a lotta shit easier.”
“I think that’s what it should be like. I don’t think love should make things harder.” Will thought of his mom and dad, and how different she acted with Hopper.
Like she didn’t hurt as much when he was there.
“It was hard in the beginning. I mean, before we got together. I thought that he didn’t feel the same way, you know? That I was just being an idiot, feeling like that for my best friend. But then he told me. He’s always been a lot braver than people give him credit for. Anyway, he told me, and it should’ve been fucking terrifying. And I was scared of people finding out. Still am, but it’s like, even if we get run outta town, and everyone we care about turns against us, it’ll be fine because we’re not just me an’ him, we’re us .”
Billy blinked quickly, almost as if he was surprised by his own words.
They clanged around in Will’s head.
We’re not just me an’ him, we’re us.
“You don’t have to be scared, though. I mean, of people finding out. Of turning against you both. We won’t let that happen. Not about something like this.”
Billy gave him a weak smile.
“I guess it makes sense. I mean, you all took me in after killing half the town. Tracks that you wouldn’t throw me out for. Being gay.”
“There are worse things to be than gay.”
“Psycho killer not one of them?”
Will gave Billy as unimpressed of a stare as he could muster.
“That wasn’t you. You forget, I know what it was like to have him controlling me. I know what it’s like to not do anything to stop him, even when you are fighting with everything you’ve got. I nearly killed my mom. I even might have, if I’d been stronger. You fought against him, and in the end, you won. I never could’ve done that.”
Billy just stared at the wall slightly above Will’s left shoulder.
“I killed people, too. When he had me. Led a whole group of people right into a trap. And it still scares me what he did. But I know that it wasn’t me that did it. It wasn’t you that did any of that, Billy.”
“I tell myself that. Hell, Steve tells me that about every five minutes. Just hard to watch yourself doing that awful shit and not be able to tell your body to knock it off.”
Will didn’t know how to respond, so he didn’t.
Billy was right. It was a nightmare watching yourself hurt people around you, feeling like you were in the backseat, screaming at yourself to stop.
But Billy had done what Will couldn’t’ve.
Right at that last moment, he stood up to the thing controlling his every move.
Stood up to that horrific flesh monster, adn died rather than let it kill El.
El, who he didn’t even know.
And then Billy’s bedroom door down the hall opened slowly, and Steve poked his head into the hall, swearing under his breath when he saw someone in the hall with Billy and trying to duck out of sight, knocking the back of his head into the doorframe and swearing again.
Billy laughed, a low wheezy laugh that ended in a short coughing fit.
“Real fuckin’ subtle, Harrington,” he choked out.
The door opened once more and Steve stepped out into the hallway, trying to look casual.
“I didn’t realize it was you there, Will. How’s it goin’?”
Billy laughed again, and gestured for Steve to come and help him stand up.
Steve did so quickly, smiling warmly at Billy when he had righted him on his feet, and keeping hold of Billy’s arm.
“Why are you sneakin’ in my window like some kinda perv?”
“Because I wanted to talk. I have a lot of emotions today.” Steve turned to address Will. “You kids are gonna be the death of me. And I mean that in the nicest way I possibly can.”
“Yeah, well. You guys are family.” Will shrugged, feeling very awkward when both Steve and Billy. Looked as though their eyes were overbright. Will panicked, trying to think of an exit strategy before he saw either of them cry.
He had seen them both in too many intimate moments today.
“Um, I’m pretty tired, so I think I’m gonna go to bed. Let me know if you need, uh, help tomorrow. You know, heading of my mom or anything.”
Will turned on his heel and slipped back into his own bedroom.
“Alright, Bert. It’s been a long day and I’m gonna need some help getting into bed. My legs have gone totally stiff.”
“Oh, in no way am I Bert! I’m totally Ernie. You’re Bert. Think about it: you’re surly, and rude, and-”
“Gonna dump you if you don’t shut up and help me go to bed.”
“Spoken like a true Bert.”
