Shout out to the comic book shop employee who spent 52 minutes searching the entire store for a copy of Batman Vol 3: Ghost Stories after I shyly asked if they knew which issue was Ghost Maker/Minkhoa Khan's first appearance and then kept searching even when I kept telling them it was okay, they didn't need to lose their mind finding it for me 😭😭
Y'all they literally pulled out a ladder at one point and crawled on top of a giant bookshelf to pull down some bins full of comics. And then he showed me a secret hidden trapdoor/ceiling ladder to the second floor of the building that he uses as a "shortcut" when he doesn't feel like using the stairs, ajdoflkfofnfjfllggk
I don't think I've ever seen someone as happy as this man was when he finally found the volume for me. The utter glee and victory on this man's face as he slid down that ceiling ladder and then ran to me with the goofiest smile on his face before he presented the volume to me with an excited: "Is this it!? This is the one you're looking for, right!!?"
Y'all I was just curious, but I had to fucking buy it. You would have thought this man had found the holy grail the way he was acting. The man was riding the highest of highs and I just couldn't not buy it at that point. And then he threw in a free issue of Batman: White Knight Presents: Red Hood because he somehow remembered me offhandedly mentioning that I hadn't read it yet, I fucking can't 😭🫠
Anyway, support your local comic books/game shops. 'Cause you sure as fuck aren't going to find anyone this remotely dedicated and passionate about their job at a Barnes and Noble

Remembering that one guy I met that told me he watched all of utena but skipping the Nanami centric episodes cause they were "filler". Imagine missing the kangaroo fight and the egg. Why would you do that to yourself.

Could you explain your position on Shallura? Since Allura was established as a teenager when she started dating Lance and Shiro was very clearly an adult. I can understand the bi shiro headcannon but the shallura thing worries me
i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.

My favourite unintentional effect of the casting for the new PJO TV series is Percy's new looks, which make him look similar to Will Solace. Nico is going to be like "dont worry guys I'm definitely over percy alright" and goes and dates the apollo-flavoured percy
Nico is not going to be beating the "still down bad for percy jackson" rumours any time soon lol

L'APPEL DU VIDE
okay so. jack! jack. what a collection of guys. the overlap between jack and the beanstalk and jack the giant killer, though. that sure is something! sometimes king arthur is there, which always takes me by surprise.
this. specifically. is an idea I've been kicking around. jack and the beanstalk is not a story I've ever enjoyed, as a kid it was probably my least favorite to read. as an adult, I was INTENSELY fascinated by reading j.g. ballard's the drowned giant. I think about it frequently, and somewhere during a re read of it, I ended up revisiting jack.
combining different versions of jack into one character is not a new concept, but it IS a fun one! the version I've been assembling together plays less with the fun elements of a jack story (and adjacent folklore stories), and focuses more on the potential for tragic elements with the addition of the usual grim and jagged narrative edges that I personally enjoy.
jack with the backstory of the devil and the three golden hairs, only jack doesn't find love, he's TIRED, all he wants to do is go home, but there isn't a home to go back to. what is the point of being born lucky if this is what it gets you? jack the giant killer, only he doesn't want to kill giants, jack who saw a body of a giant when he was a small child and cannot bring himself to do as a king commands. jack, who climbs up the beanstalk and stops halfway to look down. etc.
to go back to the drowned giant real quick, both to set the tone about jack seeing the body of a giant as a youth, and also because I've been haunted and obsessed with this excerpt of it ever since I read it:
J. G. Ballard, The Drowned Giant
anyway! this was originally like, a two illustration concept to get out of my system. however. I'm halfway through outlining a narrative. so. maybe it will also be several illustrations and also comic.

thinking about how adam was the first human soul in Heaven bc what the fuck happened to Abel. did he go to hell (for some reason?)
like what happened there. he was the first human to ever die so like would the theories saying Eve is the first person to enter hell be therefore incorrect? Because Adam and Eve had another son to replace Abel, Seth. Eve did not die first.
idk i have gripes and confusion about that stuff.
