Tf2 Rothena!! Original & redesign!! She became my tf2 si after(under the cut):
I made a whole au where she was on a warp pad & some enemy activated it or destroyed it when she was trying to activate it to help, and she got transported to the tf2 universe (more game and non-story-comics-based one) and gradually gave less shits until she gave up(once she realized there was no way back home) on way more morals than dan vs or tf2 mae, and after busting out of jail one too many times, she accepts a job from the Administrator's corporation for protection of her & some one-sided(on her side)friends, and her fate is cemented there. Also she has the same default scars as tf2 & danvs Mae but i didn't draw them in bc i was focused on getting the new damn 'render' done. Less scars in general tho bc of her unique half-gem-full-human nature, it was easier to incorporate her into the respawn system.
Their team role is officially The Understudy, but she calls herself Cannon Fodder, Expendable, other self-deprecating terms that the team members she didn't gel with went along with(Soldier, Spy, Scout occasionally, Medic bc he thinks it's as funny as she does, same for Sniper) at the beginning. She usually picks or is assigned to(read: the rest of the team draw straws or fight w rock-paper-scissors to determine) one team member throughout the match, assisting them in their job as backup or cannon fodder/actual scouting (its okay bc she respawns & is gets good at not dying eventually). okay discord copy pasting abt her under th ecut
Rothena joins red team starting out being completely herself: adhd, gen z suicide jokes, talking abt how much she loves women, etc, unlike how she usually acts when meeting new people. She figures "it's the 1960s, if i'm gonna get like hate crimed i better do it before i get attached, put all my quirks out in the open" & being so open abt herself actually endears some of the mercs to her (& makes others think she's nuts/has to self-preservation which. true lol) However this makes soldier her worst enemy bc she keeps talking abt how much she hates america. Despite being american rothena: i want free healthcare soldier: you want handouts!? rothena: no, i just don't want to pay 10,000 dollars bc some rando got me sick & i needed to be hospitalized
eventually they settle the fighting with "america could be improved but it's our home & we should stand for it & support it to improvement" but before then, HOO boy they're like in the "can i PLEASE get a waffle" vine: rothena & soldier: *fighting abt america* engineer: can you stand on the point?? rothena & soldier: *get more violent* engineer: can you PLEASE stand on the point?!?
Rothena does godawful at her first day on the field--she's only worked with sitting-duck or inexperienced targets w miss pauling, & the team dismisses her as a liability, so she does her best to stay out of the way bc she thinks so too (and tbh she kind of is, it's like if a casual/beginner jumped into a competitive match in tf2). But heavy takes pity on her and takes her under his wing, having her practice when he has free time he's willing to sacrifice, and having her shadow him during battles!! And the team sees her become more useful and eventually more of them start asking her to shadow them, earning her first positive class-based nickname, (Little) Shadow! Maybe medic sees her potential to learn and observe when she picks up a stray medigun and uses it on him without ever being taught how to!! And from there the trust builds!!
how tf2 rothena started: "blue hair" by tv girl (sad/melancholy) how tf2 rothena is going(canon): "using you" by margo (bittersweet but mostly happy) how tf2 rothena will end up(post-canon): "lifetime achievement award" by lemon demon or smth w similar resurrection themes (driven mad from love and care, unwilling to let go of mortal friends, medic is in on this)

in the veins of a prev ask, what are all ur ii critter designs based on??
Oh god, all of them?? Well
Apple isn't specifically any animal but I intended to give her hoof-like feet because farm girl vibes. Her tail blossom is only something that shows up in adulthood/past her species' puberty. It releases scents that will be appealing to someone she wants to connect with (inspired by cats. As they communicate a lot by scents, owners will often notice that their cat smells good but only to them! This is cause we suspect that cats release scents as a sort of 'be my friend!' vibe)
Balloon is based on on a rat! I think he has rat vibes (affectionate, this is a pro rat account I love those smart little guys) He his little gremlin paws that he can puff up his body and it'll make his claws pop out! He also has higher static electricity when stressed/angered and can give shocks!
Baseball has hooves cause of the s2 ep where he's mining w/ a pickaxe taped to his foot. So it would make sense that he doesn't have little hand-feet like Nickel does. His tail is also mechanically inspired by the kangaroo! He will use it as an additional limb, and lean back on it to deliver powerful kicks w/ his legs!
Blueberry isn't inspired by any animal, just a little cute plant guy! His leave change color w/ the season turning more dry and brown in the winter. But he sheds the leaves off and new ones grow in the spring!
Bow and Bot aren't based on anything, but they have a little nub tail that you don't see often! If I had to species assign them I'd say bear vibes?? Also note that my first viewing of Bow was s3 pre-reveal w/ bot.
While Bow has two up ears w/ a heart shaped tuft, Bot noticeably has one flopped ear on her Left due to the repairs Test Tube made and Bot thinking flop ears fit her more. Bot also has the extending limbs, which are noticeably metal when she extends them (since she doesn't mind people knowing she's technically a robot, since robots in this verse are equally as sentient as creatures)
Box
Cabby was initially meant to have an owl-like tail w/ plenty of sheets of paper... but it jsut looked weird to give her a tail?? I might go back to it eventually but for now it's kinda set aside. Otherwise, her fur/ears are made of paper coming out of her drawers. If you opened up her head drawer (unless told otherwise by canon) it's closed off cause she has organs in there. Her arms are buff cause she needs to carry herself occasionally, such as up a short flight of stairs. But the cabanas in iii are all wheel friendly, and her room/bathroom has additional space since she's a bit more bulky compared to the rest of the contestants for moving around.
Candle's tail is the only really insp from an animal; it's meant to be red panda inspired! I also had this concept at a time that Candle's body is actually more like a "wax shell" and internally she's fire based. So if she were to fall into that volcano she would like, melt her skin ig?? but she'd be fine cause she's fire based so she could jsut come out and go eat some wax to regain her proper self. So she's like, half magic based half bio based. She would only be functioning at like half efficiency in her pure fire form since she's missing some organs/structure that the wax makes up.
Clover's tail is a clover flower! They were one of my childhood flowers that I would see constantly and I would pick to give to my mom :3c Otherwise, her paw pads are meant to be horseshoe-like cause luck- tho I alternate between that shape and star shapes. I also only sometimes give her the star-freckles cause XwX I jsut forget a lot of the time to put them on. Otherwise no species in particular! She's jsut meant to be cute. Fan is insp by birbs, obviously. But to be honest, I'd say he's more Yi Qi or Microraptor dinosaur inspired in mannerisms? I change his design every time I draw him cause I can never decide if he should have yellow or red paws XwX He can glide w/ his wings! Just can't directly fly all that well. Sometimes I forget to give him his tassel tail XwX I also like to occasionally give him little features that are bird of paradise inspired! Cause he has those fail boy vibes.
The Floor is not animal inspired. In fact he wears a pair of cat ears to feel included w/ the other creatures. He is able to teleport a small circumference of items with him, because technically if you dug him up without issues you'd find he has a small packet of organs underground (they are his organs he did not steal them). He's mostly a magic-based species, but still has a few biological features. If I were to assign him an animal- I'd weirdly assign him human mannerism cause he's such an oddball in species of the group. He is able to also pull together stuff from the surrounding area to him, such as shells or pinecones, to give himself certain appearances.
Goo! Goo is actually normally 100% looks like canon However he wants to feel included w/ all the other creatures so he makes himself a pair of kibby ears and a tail! He is like 99% inspired by a tabby slime from slime rancher XD I jsut like those little guys.
Knife is!! weirdly!! a kittydog 100% because I like the silver spoon knife siblings headcanon sdakjgfkjsdhkfh so he's a kitty dog more dog leaning. He still has the retractable claws tho!
Lifering as I said, seal based in his biology. Ears he uses for flag signally, and his tail can send flashes of light. He's basically perfectly build for the ocean rescue life.
Lightbulb!! She's a kibby ENTIRELY cause I think it's cuuute. I have nothing else to say here sgkjhdfkjg She's 100% designed for the cuteness more than what fits her abilities and personality. Marshmallow isn't really insp by any animal- but her tail is a twisty marshmallow rainbow treat (its a thing trust me ;w; ) and her horns are burnt marshmallow. Technically, Marsh is a nymph of her species! While she is 100% an adult in her current form, in certain circumstances she can achieve a status that I'd equate to a queen bee. The burnt on her horns grows more over her body, she becomes more dragon-like in her structure, and she grows wings! In her full 'queen bee' form her body is fully covered in burnt marshmallow scales, and her core/center is magma based!
Mepad isn't insp by any animal, I just think the long clawed paws are cool! I also like to think he can telekinesis stuff, so he doesn't need exceptional dexterity.
Mephone originally was gonna be a kitsune... but then I was like He has tanuki vibes also. His cord tail is normally at just one, but he can easily bring out more cord tails up to 9! He has the ability to change matter into different things (like shapeshifting but more permanent) as well as simple illusion magic. He's basically just a really powerful kitsune/tanuki. He also has a robot limb version and a furry limb version, depending on how he's feeling abt himself that day. Sometimes he feels bad abt not being a biological creature.
Nickel isn't insp by any animal, except maybe rodents w/ his terrible little nimble finger-feet. I gave him a spade tail cause I like to bully him <3
OJ is rabbit insp! He has the orange sliced ears cause of the rabbit insp. He normally doesn't have claws like my canon vers. OJ; but when I do draw him with claws it's cause I'm drawing my alter OJ who does have claws :) The straw tail is 100% jsut cause it's cute.
Paintbrush is- somewhat lion-based w/ the tread tail (that casey my friend came up with thank you casey) but mannerisms side I'd equate them more to a leopard or cheetah. I occasionally draw them with spots! They will jump down from up high to attack their enemies and are technically a quadruped. But since most species in ii-verse are biped, it's not too hard for them to learn to walk on twos. They can switch between the two depending on how fast they need to run or what's convenient.
Paper isn't insp by anything. He has flat-ish limbs! And yes his organs are in there they're jsut like One Cell thick dghsjfhdkg
Pickle is both sea cucumber based and sea bunny based! You know, those little white sea slugs that look like a bunny? Yeah! His "plant" tail is actually fully flesh-y it's just like a sea dragon-style mimicry.
Salt isn't based on an animal, but she's meant to be ocean based! Her simple design has her w/ fins kinda as sleeves? on her arms. Cause sea salt. And she has a spade tail just cause it's fun. I think she's semi-land dwelling but would need to keep up the humidity to a decent degree so it doesn't dry her skin out.
Silver is a kittydog 100% cause I was into bfdi first and I had made lollipop a kittydog dfhjkfsgkfd,, His ears and tail are not normally shaped like that- he just keeps them in a rigid shape because stress of keeping up appearances. Normally his ears droop downwards a lot more, and his tail is uncoiled. Otherwise, he has a hyper limber spine similar to cats, so he can just like, turn around and twist himself in weird ways. He's also a quadruped! But he thinks running on all fours is degrading and would only maybe do it in severe emergency or panic.
Suitcase is kinda duck mixed with otter based! She has little webbed paws that she can use to swim, and is very buoyant in the water unless she wants to sink.
Taco! She's semi cat-inspired... but her arms are weirdly gibbon inspired?? Just like longer than average limbs time.
Tea Kettle is- god, such a weird combo. She's lion, velociraptor, and I've had someone say jeaboa which she totally looks it so yeah that too. And yeah I guess elephant but it's only cause of the snout. I don't know why I gave her big old dew claws but I wanted her to look both inviting but also you know she can tear you apart.
Test Tube isn't based on anything! But the only real part of her tail is the star at the end. Otherwise the green goop is just something she can control and she can extend and retract her tail as she wants as long as she still has green goop in her. Her goop is called Science Goop cause it will become random things at random times in part due to her emotions.
Tissues isn't insp by anything except- maybe dog w/ the ears. The feet were only made like that so that his cube body would be supported properly!
Toilet is axolotl and cat based XD this was a semi-request from the person I met at last object show meetup in July. They were super fun to meet and I'm honestly so surprised I got put next to someone in line who had seen my work XD Anyways Toilet's tail is also a coil so he can bounce around on it if he needs to.
Trophy- I think I made 100% on vibes alone. No species in there only whatever I thought looked cool.
And finally Yinyang is technically a kittydog. Yang is a cat, Yin is a dog. They have a split tail because I think it's cool. Yin has One flop ear when he's unfused.

NXX Boys as the Mystery Gang
I have no clue if someone has already done this, but this has been on my mind and I see no way where I can stick this pitch into an ao3 fic
I don't actually know the Mystery Gang as well as I think I do, but hey! I like analyzing things
WC: ~0.9K
DAVIS/the roomba as: Scooby-Doo
They're friendly and lovable sidekicks!
DAVIS, much like Scooby, is insanely overpowered (for good reason in canon, considering he's a powerful but benevolent AI)
They're both able to find things: DAVIS has access to cameras, internet history, and anything vaguely computer network related. If DAVIS wants to solve mysteries, I'm fairly certain he could
But here's where my pitch for the roomba comes in: did the cat find the roomba, or did the roomba find the cat? Maybe the roomba is actually secretly very good at scouting out clues. Anyway, the roomba has a lot of potential and I'm wondering if there are any further plans for it in canon
Luke Pearce as: Shaggy
If DAVIS is Scooby-Doo, then I pitch Luke as Shaggy purely because out of all the NXX boys, he's the most likely to be pals with DAVIS.
Also, if we also draw in Shaggy's love of food as Luke being happy to eat practically anything (SR 'Among the Great Blue', the goose card, the crabs) then that's another comparison I am willing to make
Shaggy is also occasionally the gang mechanic, which is fantastic for my point because Luke is always happy to take things apart and put them back together (computers, machines, I mean he owns an ANTIQUE SHOP)
AND! If you argue that Shaggy is the face of the Mystery Gang (I mean it's either him or Scooby) then I am copying and pasting Luke's dream of becoming a detective onto him. Both of them can be associated with solving mysteries! Luke adores the Sherlock Holmes series but I bet he and MC also grew up on Scooby-Doo!
Marius von Hagen as: Daphne
Daphne is fashionable, BUT
If we look at later versions of Daphne, it's shown that she is excellently skilled in martial arts (not quite sure which, I think it might be karate?) and that she's more than just a pretty face
So we have pretty pretty Marius von Hagen who does enjoy looking good and dressing well, but also hides his real interests, passions, feelings, etc. behind his shallow façade. Most people look at him and see someone who doesn't seem to take things seriously, who doesn't know anything about the world, etc., but this all tends to work in Marius' advantage -- he uses his presumed inexperience to make everyone let their guard down, thus allowing him to get what he needs, whether that be deals, information, that kind of thing.
We also know Marius can be absolutely vicious in the business world if he needs to be
And that's the dichotomy that I am placing on him: a pretty face who is far more dangerous than they seem.
Do not underestimate him at any cost
Vyn Richter as: Velma
If the NXX Investigation Team decide to go as the Mystery Gang for a costume party or [insert event], then at least he can keep his glasses as Velma
All of the NXX members are insanely intelligent, but Vyn "I have two doctorate degrees, whereas Artem has only one" Richter stands out
Velma is often linked to knowledge in science, and so is Vyn
Plus, Vyn's degree in psychology allows him to read people much more easily, and I argue that he's able to put together clues like Velma in this way.
I can also see him getting excited about learning new things, perhaps not visually, but internally he's genuinely ecstatic; knowledge is power but the process of collecting it is fun!! (cue odd look from Marius when Vyn mentions this)
Which leaves Artem Wing as... Fred
Okay, hear me out on this.
On his Which Scooby-Doo Character is the Best? video, JelloApocalypse states: "Fred is nothing, and that means Fred can be anything."
And to sort of draw back a little and look at Fred from a meta lens, Fred is boring because there are next to no personality traits attached to him -- hence the statement "Fred is nothing".
Artem, from your general Stellis citizen's point of view, is also boring. He's a workaholic who doesn't seem to think about anything else but his job. If you were to conduct a vertical cross-section of his brain, you would predict that you'd only find coffee and law books. No thoughts, head empty, just law.
But this, as we know, is untrue
Because as "Fred is everything", so is Artem
This is the sci-fi nerd we're talking about. This guy not only has a 99% win rate, is not only the youngest senior attorney, but also, along with an assortment of other things: reviews movies, fishes (and is good at it), is an excellent home cook for some reason, and knows how to use a gun
His resume is filled to the brim with so many skills that he might as well be Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, ever present and somehow helpful
The only thing he Cannot Do is art
Fred can generally also be classified as a himbo, but unfortunately, with the NXX boys' extreme individual intelligence, I don't think I can draw that parallel here
But! Fred does pretty well in positions of leadership, and so does Artem (not necessarily in the NXX because they're all equal there, but in the law firm)
oh yeah also Fred's classic ascot could easily translate into Artem's tie

So I was re-reading growing pains as one does and I was wondering what do the elytra look like are they more like fabric or insect wings? Have a nice time of day :-). -time anon
I personally have individual headcanons for each person's elytra, as long as they don't have wings (in my canon!), I've been meaning to draw them for a while, but I probably won't get around to that for a while, so:
Scott: He has wings! They're based off a snowy owl's wings, but with gold accents that he put on himself
Jimmy: His almost look like moss, and have some weeds tangled around places, mostly holding it together, and there's also a few patches of slime on it, but that's merely by accident
Lizzie: Hers are translucent, and almost looking like flying fish's wings with how they shimmer in the light
Joel: His elytra looks like a cloak fashioned from peacock feathers, but only on the underneath. On the top it is just a plain black material, but when he flares it out to fly it reveals a massive amount of peacock feathers beneath.
Pixl: his looks like it has been fashioned from copper, blue wires connecting all the joints and, somehow, allowing him to fly. Nobody's really sure how it works, most of all Pixl, but it somehow does
Joey: He also has wings! Only him and Scott though, I base his wings off of Scarlet Macaw wings. Normally he'll hold them as though they're a cloak, meaning they'll trail through the dirt, but he thinks they look nicer like that for some reason.
Shubble: Her elytra looks like a mushroom, the underside of it being frilled like the underneath of a mushroom cap, the top covered in white spots. I also like to think that it would release spores when hit, not toxic ones, just those designed to stun
Katherine: Her wings are white and translucent, almost like bee's wings, and in a similar fashion they don't look large enough to lift her. She manages somehow anyways
Pearl: Her elytra looks like a bunch of wheat tied together, and she'll occasionally braid sunflowers into it, because she likes the colour it adds to them.
fWhip: His elytra are fashioned after dragon's wings, but black and red. They're made of a bunch of redstone that even experts struggle to understand because of how cobbled together it really is.
Gem: Her elytra is made of amethyst crystals, like in canon, and when she flies with it it makes a soft twinkling sound rather like the sound amethyst blocks make when you walk over them.
Sausage: His are made from dyed leather stretched between glass rods. A strange red liquid swirls inside the glass rods, and he will only say that one of the ingredients is blood sheep blood, but apparently there's other things in them that allows him to fly.
Basically the idea here is that the elytra take on traits they identify within their owner, and even if they get passed onto someone else, they remain the same (meaning if another ruler wears someone else's elytra they remain the same, not sure if that would affect the person with a part of another person's personality attached to them,, possibilities I suppose)
Also! If they wear them for too long, or outside forces intervene, the elytra can become fused into their nervous system, and the person basically gains wings. Though, there are a lot of drawbacks to suddenly gaining wings without the physiology of avians (e.g. hollow bones) and there are more disadvantages than advantages with it

Avengers: College Edition
Steve: Criminal Justice and Studio Art double major. He doesn't want to torture himself with anything difficult and still wants to study what he loves. He is still an over achiever though. Highkey hates frat parties, saw someone twerking upside down and almost cried but stayed because hes the designated driver (responsible KING). prefers small get togethers with his friends. Roommates with sam and bucky!! Joins Criminal Justice club, jokingly rivals with Engineering (Tonys Club) Everyone on campus loves him including the professors, wins Homecoming king and is very happy. Sam jokingly asks to be his queen, Bucky butts in and says "NO, im his queen". Can be found in the library or art studio, usually with ink or pencil markings on his hands.
Tony: Obvi an engineering KING has physics as a minor. procrastinates to the max "No Bruce I have everything under control" *crams for 46 hours straight on a constant IV drip of Redbull and coffee* Super smart and helps draw the blueprint for the new engineering building. Roomies with Bruce! Tony was in a frat for a bit his freshmen year but hated it and wanted real friends (Throws better parties anyway) met Bruce and all the other avengers during a 1301 intro class. Pulls women like no tomorrow. On the presidents list every semester and tutors math for free on the side. He is basically the Dad in STEM. Tries hitting on Natasha but she is just like :/ nah, when her and bruce start dating tony is surprised because bruce is his "quiet little cinnamon roll." Tony constantly teases bruce and is like "yall fuckin (;" Steve butts in "tONY PLZ I JUST WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE" Bruce is thankful for steves intervention. You know how he rivals Steves Criminal Justice club? He butts heads with Business Clubs leader (Pepper) until everyone catches them together at a party. Has a caffeine addiction. Works out with Thor and Bucky one day in the rec and almost dies.
Bruce: Physics and Engineering double major (Hardworking KING) In math club with Vision and Wanda. He loves being roomies with Tony because it helps him out of his shell. Likes to draw with Steve sometimes and enjoys the quiet. Doesn't procrastinate and gets things done in a timely manor. 4.0 icon we all strive to be. Him and Nat already know each other, but bond and get a lot closer while studying in the library and they eventually start dating. He takes her coffee when she works across campus and is always almost late to class because of that (He doesn't care though bc thats his BABY) "Um.. Bruce your class is in 5 minutes" "Okay and?.....Wait I have an ex-" *Sprints to his building* Takes boxing at night with Thor, Bucky, Sam and Steve!!! Loves sparring with Thor and can surprisingly take the big buy on pretty well. Gets his butt kicked by Natasha in a MMA class though.
Natasha: Majors in Criminal Justice and Minors in Psychology. Ballet club AND MOCK TRIAL!! Has a Job at the Criminal Justice Deans office and takes MMA classes on the side. She is on Mock Trial with Loki and they actually get along quiet well once they stop butting heads about the case. Introduces Sam and Wanda to dance and they have so much fun. Coffee dates with Bruce!! Her and Steve become RAs in the following years and are the coolest RAs you know. Prefers night classes, Bruce walks her to all of them. Psychology classes are her favorite and really wants to help children one day. Volunteers at a daycare during breaks. Sis can really out drink Tony and Thor. Puts Wanda under her wing and helps her with fafsa and what not. Her and Bucky get the Russian language credit by simply testing out. Has her sh!t together and while she has a lot on her plate she can take it. She is really the Mom of the group. Can be found dancing or with Bruce. Her and Clint are icons in psychology classes.
Clint: Deaf Studies with education minor! (we stan deaf clint in the comics) In the Archery club and wins nationals for the Uni. Loves to draw with Steve. Helps Bruce ask Natasha out! PRANK ICON! loves to do prank wars with tony, bucky, loki and sam. Was in the same frat with Tony but hated it as well. While he seems to have a more reserved demeanor he is still the life of the party. (Like he knows people at the clubs ya know?) Can get in anywhere and helps everyone rent out a club for the night in celebration of midterms being over. Loves reading in the library and loves morning classes and being productive early in the day. Cracks Tonys netflix and hulu passwords (no tony... tonyr0cks69 is not good enough) Wants to teach at a school for the Deaf. Bruce sets him up with a girl from engineering and that is his future wife.
Thor: Physical Education major and Communications minor! Here on a football scholarship and is in a frat (not the asshole one tony was in) and is a partying ICON. Tries to get Loki to party but Loki just wants to drink wine with the cat he snuck into his dorm. Learns Sign from Clint to prepare for his career in education. Loves working out with Bucky, Sam and Steve. Takes up boxing during football off season and spars with Bruce. Despite being everyones fav himbo he gets really good grades and is a very good writer. Loki dorms across the hall from him. Thor actually rooms with Peter. Peter is the freshman baby and Thor takes peter under his wing and introduces him to everyone and helps him with college stuff in general. Also hooks him up with MJ and brings him to the occasional boxing session. Has a loud booming laughter you can hear in all floors of the library when he sees a funny meme. One time he actually makes a very good point and notices a flaw in one of Tony and Bruces projects leaves everyone stunned. Picks on Loki in big brother fashion. Unironically calls weed the devils lettuce.
Loki: Pre-Law and Criminal Justice. LOVES to argue. (Devils advocate ass) In Mock Trial and Criminal Justice Club. Tony jokingly calls him steves sexy secretary in CJ club. Loves Mock Trial and is the president with Nat as his right hand woman. Sneaks a cat he found at the shelter into his dorm and names it muffin. Stays in the Library writing or going over cases. The one time he was taking Natasha a copy of the Mock Trial case packet and caught her and bruce smooching. (He screeched) "Haha funny joke yall heres the case packet BYE." He automatically texts the group chat "i think nAT AND BRUCE HAVE SOME TEA FOR US HMM". Lets Peter and Bruce come over to his dorm because he knows their roommates can get a little too much sometimes. Loki also becomes an avid twitter user and thats how he gains popularity on campus. (He called the uni out for their awful and expensive parking) Was able to convince the Dean with tony and steve to create a new parking lot. Caffeine addict!!! Him and Tony always bump into each other at the coffee shop. Brings baked goods to meet ups with the gang. Loves to play pranks (especially on Tony) Him and Bucky come up with a genius prank on him and even get pepper involved. Best dressed on campus and is in the fashion club. He is the embodiment of dark academia.
Sam: Criminal Justice Major with Aerospace Engineering minor. Gets introduced to Bucky and Steve during move in and they literally become brothers. Is both in Criminal Justice Club and Engineering Club. In the Historically Black Frat on campus and takes huge pride in that. Parties with tony and thor BIG TIME. Procrastinates by throwing paper airplanes at Bucky until Bucky is like "Um...dude your paper is due in like two hours." At that moment Sam got into work faster than he ever had. Loves gossip sessions with Loki and Wanda. Works out a lot with Bucky, Steve and Thor to get rid of stress. When he and Bucky finish a final they go to loki's dorm and ask "Hey can we see your cat." Helps prep food for friends-giving and decorates the dorm for holidays. HATES 8ams so so so much. Steve promises him pancakes if he gets up and goes. Binge watches shows during weekends and screams when Destiel is finally canon. Loves running and gets a Track Scholarship when Thor gets him to join a sport. Gets Peter to join track.
Bucky: criminal justice major and psychology minor. Buck is also in ballet club with Nat, it really helps him relax and gives him a free space to think (also he runs that shit like no ones business) Criminal justice club as well and LOVES to work out and box. One time Sam accompanies him to ballet and Bucky pushes Sam into a split... the scream was heard for miles. "Sam ballet is good for athletes it helps w-" "Yeah but its not good for my balls" Doesn't willingly procrastinate but once in awhile he will forget an assignment, you best believe his eyes will snap open from his nap and get to work asap. For one of his psyche labs he had to question Steve as if he were Steve's therapist to which Steve responds "Hey bro you dont have to hit a nerve that deep" He also likes to do dance with peter since it helps him get away from Thor for a bit. Not a big partier but once the weight of finals are off his chest you best believe he will go all out. Picks on Nat and says hes gonna steal her man, to which tony interjects and says "Not if I do first" Bucky also has a very comfy dorm, comfy lighting and tons of pillows, the man loves his sleep... and so does everyone else. Sometimes he finds peter, sam, THOR, tONY EVERYONE just napping in his bed before their study time. Overall, bucky is a smart boy and his time in college is kind to him.
Wanda: English Major and Education Minor. After being an orphan Wanda knows what it feels like to not have a parental figure there and she wants to change that for other kids by becoming an english teacher. She volunteers at an orphanage, specifically the one her and pietro were in for a brief moment when they came to the states. She loves to draw as well and takes plenty of art classes with steve. She paints a portrait of the entire gang and gives it to tony as a graduation present (he cried). She loves to do volunteer work for children and also spend a lot of time in the library, She helped Nat calm down before Bruce asked her out. Her and Loki are in constant competition for best dressed. "Loki ill let you win best dressed but you have to let me see your cat" "ugh fine... btw your shirt doesnt match your boots" "hEY" Her and Peter take alot of intro classes together and are constantly running around craft stores trying to get the right stuff for projects. Visits Vision at his Job on Campus and he visits her where she volunteers and eventually they start dating. She is constantly getting visited by pietro at 4am asking "Um do you have milk" "Pietro its 4am what do you ne-" "my OREOS"
Pietro: Track star business major, frat ICON with Thor. poor boy is STRESSED he hates college and is here on a track scholarship, constantly late and running around getting shit done. Queen of late assignments but still gets them graded because he is in Track. Yeah he has alot on his plate but he still parties with thor for hours. When he is drowning in assignments Clint is always there to help him, Bruce also helps him with biology and the more science-y classes. Likes to mess around and race sam at track practice. Not into coffee but will run on all the monster energy drinks you could possibly buy. Seriously is tired of 8 a.m courses, he just wants to nap after practice. Walks into the study room that everyone was in and actually looks more sleep deprived than tony. He gets a lot of tips from steve on how to have an easier time in college and it really helps him.
Vision: Grad student working on a civil engineering masters and a TA. Meets Wanda in the library and she asks him where the biographies are. He mistakenly says they are on the 2nd floor "Uh theyre actually on the third" "Then why did you ask?" "Cause I wanted to talk to you :)" He swooned. Through Wanda he met Tony and Bruce and became their best friend, He helped out a lot with engineering club and got them far. He spends a lot of time doing research for his masters degree, he loves relaxing with the group on weekends and picks on pietro as if he is already apart of the family. Him and Loki bond over intellectual conversations from time to time. Bruce and Nat go on double dates with him and Wanda. Went to a bar once with tony and bruce and had to stop tony from singing Queens entire discography, he had the best night that night. Helps everyone with getting into jobs and into grad school in general while everyone helps him let loose and have some fun.
Peter: Peter is a Physics major and eventually works his way up to biochemistry. (hardworking icon) He is the freshman baby of the group and is introduced to them through Thor. He dances with Buck and Nat sometimes as well. Tony obviously takes peter under his wing and helps him with assignments. One time everyone was in the same study room and him and pietro have a redbull shot gunning challenge. When Peter wins Thor picks him up and almost yeets the poor boy into the ceiling. "VERY WELL DONE YOUNG PARKER YOU SHOULD BE DOING THAT WITH BEER IN NO TIME." "Thor plz" Tony and Thor help him ask MJ out and even spy on them during a dinner date. (Imagine thor with sunglasses and a scarf around his head pretending to be tonys date) He feels so accepted in college because of the gang and gets all his work done on time. Goes out of his way to get everyone christmas presents and is so excited for friendsgiving. Becomes a little stressball during finals and midterms and stays in the library till it closes. He spots loki alot in there and helps loki with science classes while loki helps him with political science classes. He meets MJ through wanda and is obviously blushing the whole time while being introduced. Gets embarrassed when the guys flirt with aunt may. "guys plz stop" This is when Sam earns his "milf hunter" nickname. "Pete hows your aunt?" "She doesnt want you sam i-" its not like that... actually it is like that"
Coulson: Alumni Icon. Is the gangs Intro professor and is the reason why everyone meets eachother. (the class was chaotic indeed) Coulson loved that class so much and he still gets visited by everyone from time to time. He is obviously close with Nick. They were there that night when Tony was signing Queen at the bar and couldnt help but laugh.
Nick Fury: Dean for criminal justice and is heavily involved with criminal justice club and mock trial. He is tired of everyones shit as always. Makes a tiktok account for the criminal justice club and has no idea how to manage social media so gets Loki to help. Has to delete it when Loki commented "hah losers" on the engineering tiktoks page. He looks intimidating but in his office he has a picture with the club and has all the gifts he gets on display. (He even framed lokis comment because it was hilarious afterall)

SELF INDULGENT HANNIBAL X READER FANFICTION PROMPT
I do not know what this is, if it is a drabble or a prompt or short story, I have no clue. Just thoughts in my head. Storylines that are realistic within the canon of the show. I say self indulgent because it's sort of a self insert of myself, but whatever, I dunno. It's almost 7 AM. I would actually write this as a story or drabble or whatever but I don't have the drive, if I have a thought I gotta write it down right then or it disappears. If I wrote fanfics, they wouldn't make sense because my mind wanders so fucking much. I might still do this someday, I dunno, but if anyone wants a crack at it, be my guest. I encourage it, as I'd love to read this as an actual story rather than... what it is. But if you write it, ya gotta make sure you include the big details I write down. The small details like, the whole Jack thing, that's not too important unless you want to keep it for showing character and/or character development. And ya gotta credit and tag me because I'd love to read it, as it is my brain's own little bundle of ideas. Holy shit I'm writing so much here goddamn. Anyway.
. . .
Hannibal is reader's friend and he has an interest in reader. Reader is an artist, they work as a forensic artist for the bureau. They do what the usual forensic artist does, but they also like to draw the crime scenes. They have a fascination with recreating the work of a suspect, it can help them connect dots and understand the suspect's intentions and ideals of commiting the scene of the crime. Reader is kind of like Will, in a sense, as they are on the spectrum but, unlike Will, they are unaware of it. They are an empath, they view everything from different perspectives and try to understand each side, like Will. But you see, Will only looks into the suspects' minds, but reader looks into the suspects, the victims, and even the witnesses' views. Hannibal finds their insight to be valuable (for his own "hobbies", in his career, and just plain interest, of course).
Reader has trouble with Jack yelling at them for "talking back," though in reader's mind they didn't realize what they said could be considered rude, and this happens more often than not. They can't handle loud noises, and Jack's booming voice messes them up. They tend to avoid Jack because of this, as they usually have an internal meltdown and shut off when he blows up.
An example; reader was explaining how the victim of the killer in a specific scene wasn't really the victim, but that they were the actual killer. Will disagreed, as he views the suspected killer to be the actual killer. Because of Will's insistence that reader was wrong, Jack shut reader off mid sentence by interrupting their defense. Jack trusts Will's insight more than reader's because he's known him longer and Will's always been right, so far, and he didn't want to risk messing up. He didn't want to get the investigation incorrect so he didn't take the chance of listening to reader rather than Will.
(In this scenario, the killer is the victim in the scene, and the person that killed them was the killer's intended victim, but the victim they intended to kill was a serial killer as well -- the victim pulled the ol switcheroo on em. So both Will and reader are right. If this doesn't make sense, please let me know, I will try to elaborate more on this if you're actually interested.)
Jack and reader don't have a bad relationship or anything, it's just a lot of miscommunications and underlying issues (like the reader having undiagnosed autism, not being aware that they're socially impaired can, well, impair their work and relationships. Such as here.) Nobody really notices the odd behavior from reader, as Will is like that too, so they don't question it. They all assume it's already understood that reader is autistic.
Reader isn't like Will when it comes to being social, as they are more reserved (as odd as that is, MORE reserved than Will Graham himself?? It's more likely than you'd think.) and don't fidget around with stuff around them. They don't nose around, they keep to themselves, closed off from everyone and everything. Will likes to roam around Dr. Lecter's office and tinker with stuff in the room, but reader is too anxious and shy to do such. Reader hates it when people come into their space (like their room, even their property in general) and they especially don't like it when people nose around in their stuff. It feels rude to them, so they don't do it to others. They don't consider Will to be rude because he does it though, they only consider it rude when a person comes into their space and does it, as reader would make it clear that they don't feel comfortable with people doing such. They wouldn't want a person unknowingly seem rude to them, they would inform them beforehand, but if the person still does it, then that's rude to reader. Call it being territorial, reader is just cautious about their property.
If reader is in a conversation, and being asked questions about themself, they usually just give short and simple answers. They don't like to talk about theirself. And they especially don't like letting people know them well. They are very cautious about relationships. They don't want to get hurt. They have a major rejection sensitivity disorder. They hate that about themself.
It's not that reader is cut off from the world and dismissive of others, they do like to talk and joke around occasionally. They're sarcastic yet literal, depending on the topic of conversation. They just don't give more input than they believe necessary. They're more of a listener (by that I mean they space out when a person is excessively talking to them. They can only handle so much.).
Hannibal notices reader's quiet, timid behavior and wants them to find some release, therefore he engages in conversations with them, though it is hard for them to keep the conversation going, he still pushes. He wants them to let loose, to trust him, so he can bond with them. He is aware of reader's autism, but he will only bring it up when he deems it's important. He knows everyone else knows and that reader doesn't, but he wants to see if reader would eventually figure it out on their own (they don't, he brings it up to them eventually). He's also aware that reader has anxiety and ADHD, with the occasional depression and mood swings. Reader is somewhat self aware of those parts of themself though, it's not a big deal. Reader doesn't really care about their mental health until Hannibal comes in and becomes Dr. Lecter to reader. They're not actually his patient but he will treat them as such when he feels they need a therapy session. Reader doesn't like the idea of therapy at all, not for them. Hannibal has to be discreet when getting them to open up. It works sometimes. Other times, reader just changes the subject to avoid the topic of theirself. While Hannibal does still have an interest in Will, reader is more of a craving for Hannibal's appetite. Hannibal sees reader as a rare delicacy that suits his taste, but he never gets enough, and he always wants more. Will can satisfy him in his interest, but reader doesn't give in to him like Will does. Reader is more hesitant, even when they are comfortable. Eye contact never ceases making reader uneasy, they can't hold it more than a few seconds, though Will can hold it as time goes on, reader can't. Will and reader's relationship is close, as reader relates to Will a lot, and vice versa. They connect. Reader likes to help with the dogs and assist in fixing motors and even go fishing with him. They're pretty much best friends. They're more open with Will than anybody else, as much as Hannibal envies Will for that, he also likes to learn about reader from Will. Since reader doesn't really open up to Hannibal willingly and knowingly, he uses Will for information. Will gives him what he wants, it's not a secret that they talk about reader often, it's just that reader doesn't engage in their talks so they make do. Whether Will has a crush on reader is a mystery, reader is unaware and Hannibal wouldn't allow it if he did. Will knows that Hannibal likes reader, he knows that if he had a crush, it's more than likely going to hurt him more than anything. Hannibal often attempts to get reader's attention in different ways, but reader never understands the message is for them. Will knows he can't be honest with reader as he's afraid that reader would feel uncomfortable around him if he did. He doesn't let himself crave reader after seeing Hannibal attempt to ease his own cravings for them, and seeing how that panned out, he knows he doesn't have a chance with reader if Hannibal of all people doesn't. Reader doesn't really... understand romance. They are capable of feeling romantic, but they don't know how to identify their feelings, so emotions are never clear for them. They feel everything but they don't understand anything.
Hannibal does get reader to give in but it takes a lot of time and effort to pry them open. Once reader is bare, they become insecure and vulnerable. They panic and get scared, and shutdown. Hannibal is a therapist and he knows how to handle this, though, and helps reader. He becomes their guide. Reader thrives off of independence but Hannibal slowly takes their need of independence away, having reader rely on him more and more. It makes him feel powerful. His cravings are nourished at this point in time, he's more addicted than ever, and reader is the center of his world. I guess you could say Hannibal is yandere-esque, not my intention but that's the vibes I'm getting from this. He's overprotective and possessive of reader once he has them under his wing.
What attracts Hannibal to reader is the same reason he's interested in Will. He enjoys having someone clever enough to understand him, to climb over his tall walls. Reader doesn't mean to do this, reader just sees him, and unlike Will, accepts him immediately. Reader never disliked Hannibal, reader's just cautious, as I've stated time and time again. Something about reader's mix of strong empathy but lack of understanding compels Hannibal. Reader sees and infers well enough (guessing close enough to what others think) but they can't really grasp it and latch onto it for theirself. They can't understand the feelings, but they can guess on them, and they can sure as hell feel em. They have trouble explaining stuff to others, and they try to always compare something to something else. They see something as a different thing than what others see. (An example, reader sees the shape and color and texture of a giant hotpocket in the ground, while others see a patch of dirt where grass hasn't grown) (I don't mean they literally see a hot pocket but they make the connection that it looks like a hot pocket) (that example is specific, as it is personal experience LMFAO)
This being said, they can be wrong a lot of the time when they try to infer a killer's intentions, as they sometimes just can't see the intentions being anything else than what they see. They have to rely on others for reference, to mimic their thinking patterns and then make a final guess at the killer's intentions. That's why Will and them connect so easily, as Will usually thinks straight AND helps reader figure it out in their own view. They help the team with investigations for other perspectives while Will helps with the "finalized" guess on the case. If this doesn't make sense, I can give another example, as I don't really know how else to word this. I doubt anyone will actually read any of this and I'm fine with that, I'm just rambling about my ideas. I swear to god though, if someone takes this idea without credit (in general, like the big picture of it) I will cry so so hard you will drown in my tears. Deadass.
Enjoy my rambles ig :)

For the 007 Fest Anon prompts: Magical realism
Scav hunt item #55: Create art using a prompt from the MI6Cafe Weekly Art Prompts + “Mayday”
Notes: Unbetaed as always. Canon typical violence.
"Mayday, mayday, mayday-!"
The city is caught in a deluge when he arrives.
Traffic is backed up for miles, vehicle after vehicle trapped in complete  frustrating gridlock.
He's walked the two miles to his destination, leaving behind an irate cab driver with a generous tip for his trouble.
Along the way, a young nymph looking to be no more than 10 summers old, offers a flower garland weaved of fresh white Heather from the shelter of a narrow porch. He eyes the fresh cut hanging over the front door.
He purchases two, to the girl's cheery delight.
----
“We've lost three engines! Requesting immediate vectors to the nearest airfield! Mayday, mayday, mayday! Shit, Number 4's go-"
----
One mile in, he stumbles across a heavily flooded street.
Earsplittingly loud lighting cracks overhead, an occasional flash that lights the street up.
The flood waters are ice cold. With the water level at thigh height, his wellies do nothing to keep them from gushing around his equally frozen feet. He resigns himself to a hot bath later.
Here, no cars are able to pass through at all.
Despite the hazards, there are people out and about in front of their buildings. There are merchants desperately hauling their merchandise to higher ground, attempting to salvage what they can from the havoc. Some are putting up brightly coloured banners and decorative displays. At every door, a stalk of white Heather hangs, children gleefully arranging whole seashells in intriguing patterns around them.
The mood, though dampened by the terrible weather, borders on festive.
There are neighbours exchanging sweet breads, a friendly trade of roasted poultry, a shared fish or two in covered dishes to shield the food from the downpour.
Their joy is a distant consideration in comparison to his inner disquiet.
An elderly man catches sight of him standing and staring openly at the activities. He glances down to his hand, to the two Heather garlands cradled protectively.  The old man tuts reprovingly and wades through the waters towards him.
"Shells," the old man tuts as he offers two perfect clam shells, canine tail wagging, "Intention means nothing without it."
He crosses the street, with his gifts in hand.
----
"Mayday, mayday, mayday! We've lost all four engines- Christ, we're not going to make it back to land-!"
----
He hears the adolescents well before he sees them.
In a deserted street, dull with old street lamps and filthy storefronts, the hooded teens giggle with cruel delight as they rip down fabric banners and shatter the crystal glass figurines of various marine creatures. The lovely shells and stalks of white Heather meet the same dismal fate.
Amidst their destruction, one of the teens happens to look up, forked tongue flickering out to taste the wind. Their eyes drop to his arms and they elbow their companions. The group sneers, wisely backing off momentarily and not doing anything as foolish as engage him in a fight.
Given his state of mind, it is more than likely that the teens will not come out the other end of the fight unscathed despite the protection of armoured scales.
"The sea witch's a fucking sham anyways!" the kid yells over their retreating backs, "ya'll nuts for believing that shit!"
When the last teen disappears round the street corner, he sighs, taking the moment to sweep the glass shards to the side with his foot instead of leaving them in the middle of the pavement for some poor sod to injure themselves on later. The rising waters will take care of the mess soon enough anyways.
The glint of light on glass draws his eye to the ledge, where several pristine figures lie untouched. He is irrepressibly drawn to one in particular- a carving not of an animal but a floating feather caressed by an invisible wind.
His eyes surveys the street warily for a moment. The glass feather slips unnoticed into the depths of his jacket.
In the distance, the sea churns with rage.
----
"Mayday, mayday, may-"
----
There is little else he can do but scour the shores, buffeted by strong gusts and blinded by sea spray.
The boats are all docked away, no skipper daring enough to take on the sea in her volatility. The worst of the storm is miles away from land, but its effects are felt all the same.
A set of files arrives in his email courtesy of Q Branch and Tanner- maps and coordinates and prediction models, all of which he studies intensively in the comfort of his temporary safe house. The glass feather sits prominently besides his laptop, a silent but steadfast companion to his activities.
It, along with the Heather garlands and clam shells, bear witness to him smashing his ceramic mug in a fit of fury.
The lone image glares accusingly at him from his laptop screen, a low quality shot worsened by the movement of the camera it was shot with.
The object is a blurry mess, details rendered indistinct by the rolling waves and heavy rainfall. But enough of the form remains for the item to be identified- its implications are what trigger his episode of temper.
A lone tail fin, ripped from its place at the rear of an aircraft, is a death sentence.
----
He's on his fifth bottle, drowning his sorrows with a vengeance. Outside, the deluge lets up a little into a light patter against the balcony.
The helplessness weighs heavily like an albatross around his neck.
Squeals waft up from the street below, a pod of local mers grasping the opportunity the flood waters present and taking the chance to explore streets they have never traversed before. Their melodious cries of astonishment and wonder, once music to his ears, prove too much for the dark cloud hanging over him.
He throws back his head against the couch and guzzles down more bitter ale.
----
He comes to in his tiled bathroom, curled over the toilet seat with acidic sick stinking up his nose. It's no gentle thing, he wakes up with a jerk, disorientated and without memory of how he has gotten to the bathroom in the first place. Adrenaline rushes through his veins.
With the fog in his head clearing up, he notices the rattling coming from his balcony, accompanied by quiet curses.
He gets up, hand curling around the walther under his arm. He creeps towards the source of the commotion, feet as light as a cat's paws. Whatever and whomever the intruder is, he's of no mood to be gracious.
The rattling pauses, an indignant squawk of frustration follows it.
It speaks volumes of his training, both military and 00 that he does not drop his piece from shock.
There on his balcony, his Quartermaster scowls angrily at the offending lock while looking like a drowned rat.
In his chest, his heart leaps.
His movement draws Q's attention and it's then he's hollered at to "open the bloody doors before I kick them down!"
There's no word vast enough, deep enough to encompass the depth of his emotions as he swiftly undoes the lock and throws the double doors open. Heather and shells are sent flying but all he cares for is pulling Q into a bone crushing embrace.
----
The rain picks up, droplets soaking through the cotton of his shirt. The front is already soaked through, thoroughly pressed against a sopping wet Quartermaster as he is.
He pulls them inside, away from the storm, away from the windows. Disbelief and hope war within his chest as he studies Q with an anxious eye, warm towels in his hand to replace soaked clothes.
He says nothing of the massive bruising on Q's torso, a large swath that belies the extent of physical trauma its owner has gone through.
Belatedly, he registers the noticeable lack of glasses, the raw scrapes and bruising over pale cheeks and knuckles.
The hulking set of white wings tipped with black and dusty grey.
"Albatross," he breathes reverently.
He'd assumed from Q's presence in the tunnels of Q Branch, the way he draws comfort from his underground haven, that his Quartermaster is a member of an underground species of sorts- a Null even, rare as truly non-magical folk are amongst the general population. The personnel file certainly hasn’t provided much insight either given their propensity for obfuscation when executive members of staff are involved.
"Yes, well, turns out I was just a late bloomer" Q sniffs, squinting at a dust speck on the wall through the conspicuous lack of glasses, "you're not on the water all the time either."
Bond smiles indulgently though offers no contest.
With his parents and kin long gone, there was simply no incentive to remain near his family’s seat of power all the time. The murky depths of the loch holds no interest, lacking in the thrill and constant entertainment cities like London offer. Besides-
First M, a hawk, now Q, an albatross - he's always been drawn to the sky much more than his peers.
He feels out Q's wings carefully, stretching one out to examine the feathers and bone. The appendage trembles under his tentative scrutiny, morphing into a full body shiver that goes right down to Q's toes. The first wing passes muster, so he moves on to the other.
Q yelps loudly as his fingers prod a particular sore spot.
It has him relaxing his fingers immediately, though he does not cease supporting the injured wing.
"I don't think it's broken," Q whimpers, fingers twisting anxiously.
Like a dam, Q's hard won composure crumbles. "Couldn't get them out," Q sobs, "They were too far forward, I barely got myself out-" The frantic babble dies away into hitched sobs.
He croons lightly in response, a soothing rumble he's heard mers sing to their fry. He runs his fingers through mussed curls, letting the grief and guilt run its course.
The kit he has isn't stocked for treating winged individuals or traumatised ones for that matter, but he's a witch- he'll make the best with what he has. He'll get them both home.
---
In the distance, the sea finally calms.

I have this F-Ran Opposite AU (fic? fanart?) idea.
Basically, in this AU, every character is the opposite of their canon selves, with altered backstories.
Ranmaru and Chilka will switch places.
Ranmaru's the one propagating wicked souls in the human world. He's referred to as Betelgeuse by everyone, with 'Ranmaru' being his alias. His methods involve finding someone who isn't exactly bad, and then encouraging them to pursue their interests as selfishly as possible, which creates victims whose hearts need saving. His Holy Form here has two cracked, crumbling wings he cannot lift, and no armor; looks a bit like a black version of canon!Chilka's Holy Form outfit, but his' comes with shorts and long sleeves, kind of like a form-fitting romper (shorts are still flared, though).
Meanwhile, Chilka is deployed to the human world with four other fairies to gather Attachment. A lot more spaced-out in this AU due to amnesia, he only ever speaks cryptically like canon!Chilka. Any fairy listening would either go "Uh, okay," "Huh?" or "Yeah, I get it! (Actually doesn't get it)". His Holy Form wears a black sleeveless tunic with a belt. He has no shoulder pads, only elbow pads connected to long gloves, and wears trousers with boots. His hair is in two low pigtails, resembling canon!Chilka's corrupted wings. I'd make him (and I guess the other Lux Fairies in general) wield a bow and arrow.
Ranmaru is a lot more direct than canon!Chilka. When they meet in battles, he doesn't speak in riddles and gives it to Chilka straight that the latter (and the other fairies) are being used, to which Chilka will respond, "And I should trust the words of a villain?" Ranmaru is also Chilka's classmate who no one, including Chilka, notices. He quietly observes him and the other fairies in the school.
Homura and Uruu will also switch places, or at least swap the basic parts of their personalities, as in Homura adopts a more goody two-shoes character while Uruu becomes the bad boy.
Homura's dad is spared in this AU, so Homura grows up to be a lot more cheerful. He's very gung-ho about being a hero here. When he's in the human world, he's constantly on the lookout for people to help. Not a member of any specific club in Et Flan de Muse Academy, but has volunteered his help to every club there. He's not so much a stickler for the rules than just insisting one should always do the right thing, which he is aware depends on the situation and individual.
Uruu never reported his mother's affair. Instead, he gets disillusioned, and learns to secretly break rules to make himself happy (like what his mother did). Upon arriving to the human world, Uruu takes this one chance in his life where he's mostly, if not completely, beyond his father's scrutiny to be freely imperfect, such as skipping classes to make surrealistic paintings and engaging in hedonistic activities, like canon!Takara. His human form looks like young!Cherry from 'SK8 The Infinity'.
Similar to canon, Homura and Uruu don't get along too well, except this time, it's Homura who starts the arguments. However, he nags Uruu out of concern because the latter would do self-destructive "wrong things" in the name of self-fulfillment. Unfortunately, Uruu doesn't appreciate Homura's concern. He'd say, "I don't tell you how to live your life, so don't tell me how to live mine."
On their better days, Uruu flirts with Homura (mainly to tease him) out of curiosity over what his mother saw in her secret lover, whom he does not know is Homura's father; only that he's part of the Ignis Clan. Homura himself is totally unaware of the affair and always gets flustered by Uruu's advances. Over time, though, it slowly becomes less of joke for the both of them.
Jyuka becomes Bar F's guardian, but Takara still has his secret mission.
Jyuka is quite proud to be an Arbor Clan fairy because he knows how important his clan is to the Fairy World. In fact, he's proud to have so much power over other fairies, although he'd never abuse his position or withhold healing someone he didn't like; he'd just lord it over them that they owe him. Since he's aware of how cool he is and very secure about it, Jyuka can consciously act cute. He was given the guardian role to ensure everyone is in tiptop shape to collect Attachment.
Occasionally, Homura strains himself helping too many people with too many things, and Jyuka has to fix him up. When Uruu collapses somewhere in the city after taking too many substances his human body has little tolerance for, Jyuka roller-skates to where Uruu is, cleanses him, and takes him home.
Takara's father was never overthrown. Because of that, Takara was able to succeed his throne and become the leader of the Metallum Clan. The problem is, thanks to his father teaching him not to tolerate sinners, Takara developed a rather tyrannical character. Without his canon experiences, Takara is very serious and cold (Jyuka's the teaser now). Part of the reason he was assigned to this family (the other part being to hunt down Ranmaru) was to make sure no one goes astray, especially Chilka.
Takara rides a pink motorcycle around the city looking for Ranmaru and clients. Whenever Chilka mentions a human he noticed, Takara will find that person to see if they're Ranmaru. They never are.
Since Jyuka's the guardian, he's responsible for providing the fairies a home in the human world and food, so he used the budget allocated for the mission to rent rooms in Et Flan de Muse Academy's dorms. He offered to get Takara a job in the school, like a teacher or janitor, but was turned down. After classes, the boys will find Takara waiting at the front gate, counting money he got from doing odd jobs during the day. The jobs get him contacts, and he uses them to find clients and clues to Ranmaru's whereabouts, and the money pays for his hotel room. The boys have their meals taken care of by the academy, and Takara could easily eat out, but Jyuka makes the latter a lunch bento every day (and he's always experimenting with recipes and bento designs). The bento is delivered by the bat-winged sloth.
The Queen will swap roles with her butler.
The throne is replaced with a leather armchair. In it sits the President of the Fairy World. On his left at all times is his Maid, who's keeps him cool with a big ostrich feather fan, and Bakkun sits on his lap, near to his right hip, eating an assortment of snacks. Bakkun can't play any videogames; he doesn't have fingers to push the buttons.
If I weren't working on another thing right now, I would draw up some designs. However, I am considering writing a fic of this after the series ends.

Newbie here for all the hockey and Captain Swan nonsense (and pretty much everything else on your blog!) Can I request either "bloody kiss" or "a hoarse whisper “kiss me”"? Also, I definitely am interested in what Big Bang you just completed!
Tumblr media
Hi, hello, welcome to this nonsense! You can absolutely request both of those things and I can semi fill those prompts with far more words than I was planning on writing. Eventually, maybe these prompts won’t all be canon, but that’s apparently the vibe we’re riding right now. Everyone else is welcome to partake in the aforementioned nonsense of this blog and the kiss prompts extravaganza so I don’t keep shouting about the book I finished this morning. It was real dumb. Like, super dumb. Anyway, here’s some making out.
“You know I could hear you?”
He doesn’t hear. Her. Emma. Almost hears. Words filter through a haze that appears to finally be catching up with Killian, eyelids fluttering and pulse steadying and he imagines a lot of that has to do with the placement of her fingers. Trailing across his forehead and just above one of his eyebrows, studying him with a sort of intensity that he knows only she has.
Fiancée. She’s his fiancée, again.
Even the thought makes his heart feel as if it’s going to beat its way out of his chest. Explode, possibly. That would be rather violent though. Could ruin the moment, as it were.
“When was that, exactly?”
He mumbles. Barely moves his lips. Can only manage to crack open one of his eyes and it’s not the one with the eyebrow Emma appears so intent on memorizing. Not that he’s especially opposed to the memorization. Of his eyebrow or any other part of him, not after another involuntary and far too long separation and he hopes Blackbeard drowns.
Somewhere off the coast of Neverland.
None of those mermaids are particularly merciful. In Killian’s experience, at least.
“Couple days ago,” Emma says, “the chest started talking.”
He opens the other eye. “Be more specific.”
“You’ve got an exceptionally dirty mind.”
“Chose your words more carefully then,” he challenges, but there’s no real heat behind his words. Not that way, at least. “Do you think we’re winning now?”
“In the non-existent True Love race?”
Smiling as widely and as suddenly as Killian does threatens the structural integrity of his cheeks. Both of them. Muscles strain from lack of use and recent frown-like tendencies, and furrowing his brow even a little bit sends a flash of pain through all of him. Gods, but he’s tired. And strangely comfortable. Stretched across sheets that apparently boast a rather high thread count, though he’s still a little shaky as to what, exactly that is, and even less sure it really matters, not when her fingers are so soft and his heart continues to do that erratic beating thing and—“Last I heard your mind-reading powers were a little suspect, witch.”
“I don’t think we’ve reached the insult portion of the evening.”
He chuckles. Keeps smiling. Doesn’t even consider pulling her fingers down. Despite the growing need to kiss directly beneath her ring for as long as she’ll allow. “Let me know when we get there, aye? And yes, I do believe we are. Winning, that is. Underworld challenges, magical doors fueled by magical flowers. Am I missing anything?’
“Sucks we didn’t get a rainbow kiss.”
“Perhaps that’s waiting in the wings. Of romance and whatnot.”
Listening to her laugh is his favorite thing in the world. Bar none. The way it flutters out of her occasionally, like she’s still a little surprised that it happens and Killian used to worry about that. Not anymore; not now, certainly. Now, he wants to keep surprising Emma. Wants to be surprised. To never grow entirely complacent or completely content. Although, he’s awfully close to content now. If he’s being honest.
Piracy often frowns upon complete honesty.
“Maybe,” Emma concedes, “and you’re not letting me tell my story.” “You’ve got very distracting fingers, that’s why.”
She rolls her eyes. Keeps tracing and it’s wonderful and comforting and—
Killian hisses. Grits his teeth before he can completely school his features, which makes Emma’s expression twist almost immediately and he’s not interested in that. Unless the twist is coming from the precise way her hips tend to buck when she’s beneath him. As it is, her eyes widen and his breath catches and she pulls her fingers away. From the gash he’d almost forgotten was on his forehead.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry,” she chants, but he’s already moving, and using the hook he’d removed hours ago to tear off a corner of the shirt he also should have taken off is not quite as simple as he’d like. Takes a moment for him to get any worthwhile fabric off, dragging it immediately across Emma’s blood-stained fingertips.
“Stop that. Apologizing does not become you, Your Highness.”
“That’s stupid.”
“You’ve got nothing to apologize for.”
Her eyes widen. More. To an almost comical size, catching Killian off guard because he means those words as well. The syllables, too. Down to each letter and each sound that rolls off his tongue and he’d like to use his tongue for a variety of other things, but this feels important and a line they can’t come back from, and Emma’s magic surges. Jumps over him in a way that feels as much like a blanket as a semi-aggressive wave and he supposes there’s something in that contradiction. To the way he feels and the way they are and a True Love competition that absolutely does not exist.
He knows he’s not bleeding anymore. Neither one of them move the fabric from her fingers.
“I’m sorry,” Emma repeats on a whisper, shaking her head before Killian can so much as open his mouth to object, “for not thinking and not trusting and I—well, maybe the shell phone was another True Love sign. That puts us at three, at least. Definitely winning.”
Heart explosion does not hurt nearly as much as Killian expects. And his heart’s been yanked and squeezed and used against him, more often than he thinks is average. Even in this realm. So he’s got plenty to compare it to. Only now—well, he doesn’t think his heart is actually bursting and he cares less about the realm than the people in. About the flash of golden hair he noticed well before his eyes met hers and he knows he’ll think about the way she stumbled over her own feet in a magical doorway every single night for the rest of his already far-too-long life.
He only cares about her. That’s the point, he supposes.
“I love you too,” Emma says, answering a message from several days earlier. “How did you hit your head, by the way?”
“Blackbeard is a noted bastard.”
“God, fuck that guy.”
Scoffing is not laughing, but weariness is creeping back beneath his skin and Emma’s lips quirk up all the same. He’s staring, that’s how he notices. Unabashedly, so. And it’s entirely possible she’s blushing. “That’s the spirit, aye. You really could hear me?”
“Yeah. It’s, uh—there was tear magic involved, apparently, so I guess you couldn’t hear me?” She doesn’t mean for it to come out as a question. Killian knows. Shakes his head anyway. “Right, right, yeah, I figured, and I...well, I knew you wouldn’t leave, too. Even when I wanted you to have left.”
“You wanted me to have left?”
“That sounds shit, that’s not—” Emma’s nose bumps his. There’s not much room between them. So, he kisses her fingers. Makes sense. Plus, he doesn’t have much space to do anything else. “That’s not what I mean, not really. If you left, then it was just...another failure, you know. Would have made it easier to shove into the corner, try not to think about it because I could say I always knew it would happen, or I expected it. But that’s as shit as advertised and I know you’d never do that and I don’t want you to do that, don’t want you to leave, not again or ever and—”
“I think you should kiss me,” Killian interrupts. Gruffer than he’d like, and he’s not capable of magic anymore. Can’t rip hearts out of chests or threaten them with anything more than this realm’s poor food options, but he’s fairly certain the golden-haired woman lying impossibly close to him on these ridiculously soft sheets is all too aware that she already holds his heart in both her hands. And he can’t think of anywhere else he’d rather it be.
She moves. All arms and feet, fingers in his hair and mouth slamming into him, catching his gasp and his groan in equal measure while he tosses the goddamn hook on the floor. It falls with a clatter that draws laughter out of both of them and makes it easier to pull Emma against his chest, Killian already shifting onto his back while his tongue manages to accomplish at least a few of the things it would like to.
Nails scratch and hips do, in fact, buck. Desperately searching for a rhythm and tearing a bit more at clothes he’s willing to burn eventually. There’s no rainbow. No swelling or invisible orchestra, save for the roar between Killian’s ears, but he can’t bring himself to worry and finds it ridiculous to care.
He knows. Emma knows. The goddamn magical door knew. And his message got back, even if it wasn’t perfect. To her, just like he did.
For as long as they both should live.

Tanner's eyes narrow at the town sprawled before him. What was it called again? He pulls his phone out of his pocket, checking the text message he'd received a few days ago. Wayhaven.
It's small. Smaller than he'd expected. Tiny compared to New York, where he'd been living for the past six months. How much trouble could a goblin get up to in such a small town? More importantly, how hard could he be to find?
He rubs his hands together, shoulders rolling slightly as he retracts his wings before reaching into his backpack to pull his shirt back on. He's still buttoning it when he steps out of the woods surrounding the town, eyes scanning the street from the tree line.
Should be quick, he tells himself. Get in, find Helk - or whatever he's calling himself while in hiding - and get out. Three days, tops.
He pulls a cigarette from the pack in his bag and lights up as he steps out of the cover of the trees before shouldering the backpack again and heading down the street. Pulling his phone from his pocket again, he brings up the last known location of Helk - in an alley behind some place named Haley’s Bakery in the centre of town.
The fingers of his free hand flex before he curls them into a fist at his side as he walks along the street, ignoring the curious looks he’s getting from passers by. Small towns, he hates them. The kind where everyone knows each other and he sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s always harder than necessary for him to get information out of people in these places.
His fingers feel strange without his rings, fidgeting as his hand swings beside his hip while he walks, and as much as he wants to just get on with it and find the damn goblin that had stolen them, he knows that it’s probably wise to try and be friendly and hope that someone’s seen something strange. That would make his job infinitely easier.
It would seem he's had a stroke of luck as he stomps out his cigarette and pushes the door to the bakery open and a short, fair and friendly looking woman smiles over at him. Being good looking definitely has its advantages.
“Hey there, handsome. Take a seat and I’ll be right with you," she exclaims cheerily, and he glances around the homey room, obviously decorated to be more welcoming than functional. He feels as though he’s in this woman’s living room. He disregards her offer and instead walks over to lean against the counter, watching her carefully as she goes about what she’s doing. She startles a little when she turns and finds him standing there, and he shoots her a charming grin in an attempt to put her at ease.
“You’re not from around here, are you?” she asks, the tiniest hint of suspicion in her eyes as she looks him over. He lets out a light chuckle and shakes his head.
“That obvious, is it?”
She doesn’t answer, just leans against the counter opposite him and gives him a small smile, his easy going attitude towards her obviously convincing her that he’s harmless.
“What brings you to Wayhaven?” she asks conversationally, standing up straight again to wipe her hands off on the front of the apron she’s wearing.
“Just looking for a friend. I heard he might be in the area. Say, you might be able to help me. You haven’t seen any other obvious out of towners around in the last couple of days have you?”
She shakes her head and gives him a sympathetic smile. “No, sorry hun. You could head on to the police station and ask around there though. The detective and the team he works with seem to always know the ins and outs of what’s going on around here before anyone else.”
Tanner tenses, his fingers twitching as he tries to avoid letting them ball into fists again. So the rumours are true. He’d heard there was a group of agents working with a detective human liaison in some tiny nothing of a town. Not ideal, to have to avoid trained agents while he’s running his own unapproved mission. He can work around them, though. They don’t even know he’s here, after all.
“Where can I find the station, gorgeous?”
She almost giggles and he struggles for a moment to keep from laughing at how easily he managed to get her on side. Hopefully the law enforcement in this town are just as easy and he won’t ever have to risk encountering the agents in the town. She draws him a small map, unnecessary considering once he examines it he finds that the station is only a couple of blocks away. He rolls his eyes once he’s out of the bakery, screwing the map up into a ball and dumping it in a trash can as he heads for the station.
--
The man - or rather, boy - manning the front desk of the police station is so engrossed in the game he’s playing on his phone that he doesn’t even hear Tanner enter, and he leans against the counter watching him in amusement for a moment before clearing his throat loudly, making the boy jump. He hastily brushes long blonde hair out of his face and sits up straight, the phone landing loudly on the desk in front of him as he drops it.
“Uh, hello. How can I help you?”
He’s trying to appear professional, Tanner can tell. But the illusion has been shattered the second he’d stepped into the police station and he just smirks at him.
“I need to speak with the detective," he tries. Which detective, he doesn’t know. The boy nods and pushes himself away from the desk on his chair, leaning back to yell out across the station.
“Detective Langford!”
Tanner arches an eyebrow at the kid as he rolls himself back towards his desk and remains sitting up straight, the phone remaining untouched. Apparently this town is small enough for there to only be one detective, how tragic. Still, this detective must be a real hardass judging by the way the boy at the desk is pretending to be a real cop. Fantastic.
The man that steps out from an office in the back and comes to a stop behind the desk is not what Tanner had been expecting. Close to his own 6’3 height but scrawny - he doesn’t look as though he’d be much use in a fight. That might work to Tanner’s advantage before he finds what he came for and can take off, though.
“I’m Detective Langford, how can I help you?” He has a soft voice, and Tanner can’t imagine it sounding in any way authoritative and he wonders if that’s the reason one of the Agency’s units has also been assigned to Wayhaven. If there’s even infrequent supernatural activity in this tiny town he doesn’t imagine that this man would be equipped to handle it.
“I’m not sure, I’m looking for a friend of mine.”
The detective raises an eyebrow, instantly untrusting of the obvious stranger in front of him. “Your friend got a name?”
“I know him as Helk, but he may be going by something different while he’s in town.”
“Is he on the run from something?”
“Yeah.”
“What?”
“Me.” Tanner gives a small grin which the detective does not return. Langford studies him carefully for a moment as though trying to figure out how to proceed before shaking his head.
“Even with a name I don’t think I can help you. You’re the first newcomer I’ve seen here in months.”
“You lay eyes on every occasional visitor to your town, do you?”
“Yes. I do.”
Tanner nods and pushes off of the counter, straightening himself up. The boy at the desk looks between the two of them nervously, making him think that perhaps there’s more to this detective than meets the eye. Maybe he needs to tread a little more carefully for the remainder of his time in Wayhaven. Especially if he has an Agency unit to back him up.
“Right, well thanks anyway.” He turns to walk out of the station but Detective Langford calls out to him before he can step through the door.
“What’s your name? I’ll be sure to let any Helks that I come across know who’s looking for them.” He’s testing him, Tanner can tell. He realises that Helk doesn’t sound like a real name - definitely not a name that anyone in a town like this would consider normal anyway - and he’s probably trying to get a more honest answer out of him.
“Tanner Drake," he calls over his shoulder with a grin before stepping out of the street, the smile instantly fading and his eyes narrowing as he scans the street. This is going to be harder than he’d thought.
“Where the hell are you, you little shit?” he murmurs under his breath as he starts walking, realising that he’s going to have to find a place to stay. He didn’t want to stay in this town any longer than necessary, but it’s become obvious that it’s going to take longer than today to track Helk down, especially if he doesn’t have the assistance of the locals.
--
Morgan shoulders her way through the door of the common room, a lit cigarette already hanging between her lips as she assumes her usual position leaning against one of the side tables in there as they wait for Lucas.
She’s not terribly fond of the man, and she despises these weekly meetings they get dragged into with him. Especially when there’s nothing happening and they usually just consist of Lucas and Nate flirting.
She’s about to lose her patience and leave, forgoing the meeting altogether when finally the detective makes his appearance, and she pulls a face at the way Nate jumps to his feet like a love sick puppy and pulls him into a hug. As though they don’t see each other everyday.
“Can we get started? Some of us have better things to do," she snaps, crushing her cigarette in the ashtray sitting on the table she’s leaning on. Lucas rolls his eyes and reluctantly steps away from Nate. After going through all the usual rigmarole, revealing that there’s nothing interesting to report, as Morgan had expected, she’s pulling another cigarette from her pack and getting ready to head outside when Lucas calls everyone back. She rolls her eyes with a groan and crosses her arms across her chest, her unlit cigarette still hanging from between her lips.
“I met someone strange this morning.”
Not unusual. The town is full of strange as far as Morgan is concerned. It’s unusual that Lucas didn’t know this one though, she’d thought he knew just about everyone.
“Strange in what way?” Adam asks and Lucas shrugs slightly.
“I didn’t recognise him, he came into the station and said he was here looking for someone called Helk. He didn’t mention why.”
“Did you get a name?”
“Tanner Drake.”
Adam tenses instantly and obviously and Morgan frowns over at him. “You know him?”
Adam doesn’t answer, his focus on Lucas.
“Can you find out where he’s staying while he’s here and report back?”
Lucas nods with uncertainty, and Adam turns to face the rest of them, his brow furrowed even deeper than usual.
“Who is he, Adam?” Farah asks from where she’s sprawled on the couch, but Nate answers before Adam can say anything.
“Bounty hunter.”
“We need to find him and figure out what he’s doing here. If he has an assignment in Wayhaven then we should have been notified. The fact that we weren’t suggests that he’s here for personal reasons," Adam cuts in before Nate can say anymore, and Farah nods slowly, casting a worried glance in Morgan’s direction. Morgan just shrugs and pushes herself off of the table when it becomes apparent that the meeting is over, at least until Lucas can find out where Tanner is staying.
Adam storms through the door after Lucas, and Morgan jogs to catch up to him, plucking the cigarette from her mouth and twirling it between her fingers.
“This guy dangerous or something?” she asks, trying to make sense of Adam’s reaction to his name.
“Not unless you’re being hunted by him.”
“So why the unease?” She gestures to him as she asks, and he glances down at her with a heavy expression.
“He is infuriating. I hoped not to have to deal with him again.”
Morgan grins. Now it’s making sense, and she figures that anyone who can get on Adam’s nerves to such an extent has got to be an absolute riot. She finds herself mildly hopeful that she’ll get to meet him and at least have some real fun for once.
--
Adam stares at the door inside the hotel in obvious disdain, reluctant to knock. Nate stands patiently beside him, trying to keep the amusement from his face as he waits for Adam to do something. He knows that Adam and Tanner hadn’t gotten along the last time they’d crossed paths; Nate had had a front row seat to it. Tanner is antagonising and cocky and easily as arrogant and self assured as Adam and it had led to a number of less than friendly confrontations between the two of them. He knows that Adam is hoping that he’s on a personal mission and he’ll be able to send him packing rather than needing to work with him again.
Finally Adam knocks on the door, a grimace on his face, and then lets out a heavy sigh as he waits for an answer. They hear the chain being unhooked on the other side of the door before it pulls open, Tanner’s eyes widening in surprise before a grin slowly crosses his face.
“Adam!” he exclaims, pulling the door further open and stepping aside to let the two Agents inside.
“Commanding Agent du Mortain.” Adam corrects in nothing short of a grumble as they walk inside and Tanner closes the door behind him.
“Never thought I’d see you again.”
“The feeling was mutual, trust me.” Adam replies, throwing an already exhausted glance in Nate’s direction before clasping his hands behind his back. Tanner’s eyes dart towards Nate and a scowl crosses his face for a brief moment.
When they’d first met, Tanner had taken an instant dislike towards Nate and he still isn’t sure why, but he suspects that maybe they are simply too different.
“Why are you here, Drake?” Adam asks before they can veer too far off topic but Tanner just grins at him.
“I should’ve known it was you four working with the detective. What with how much this one loves humans.” He nods towards Nate though his gaze remains fixed on Adam, who shifts just barely under the attention.
“Why are you here?” Adam repeats his question and Tanner sighs and tuts with a shake of his head.
“I’m sure your detective friend told you that already.”
“You are hunting for someone you call Helk.”
“Right.”
“Who is Helk and why are you looking for them?”
“A goblin, and he stole from me. I want my things back.”
“So it is not an Agency assignment? If you are not on assignment you need to return to the nearest facility. You should-” Adam’s interrupted by his phone ringing, and he lets out an irritated sigh before moving to the other side of the room to answer it.
“What did he steal from you?” Nate asks, trying to fill the awkward silence that falls between them once Adam steps away. Tanner looks over at him, a bored expression on his face as though he’s already tired of interacting with him, and then raises his hands in front of him.
“My rings.”
“Are they important?”
“Does it matter? They’re mine.”
“Seems like a lot of trouble to go to if they can be easily replaced.”
“No one steals from me.” Tanner answers simply before looking away, indicating that their conversation is over and Nate knows better than to push it. He seems unassuming, even as tall and well built as he is. Tanner has a charming smile, a cheeky and playful personality for the most part, and it’s hard to imagine him taking anything or anyone seriously.
But Nate and Adam were both witness to what he is actually capable of when they worked with him years ago. He assisted them in finding a supernatural who refused to even meet with the agency to discuss signing any kind of treaty and by the time Adam had finally pulled Tanner off of him the supernatural had needed treatment in the agency’s medical facilities before he was in a position to discuss anything. Even Adam is subtly wary of the nephilim and Nate knows it.
He is not sure what would happen should Tanner ever have an opportunity to meet Morgan and Farah. He suspects that he would get along with Farah fairly well - they have a similar sense of humour and Farah would have no desire to push his buttons and rile him up. Morgan, though. Morgan and Tanner are too similar, and Nate doesn’t imagine that she would be willing to back down just because he warns her too.
He doesn’t suspect that Tanner would be willing to hurt someone technically on his side for no good reason… but he can’t be entirely sure that he’d bother to try and hold himself back either.
Adam appears beyond displeased when he comes back over to them, tucking his phone into the pocket of his coat and letting out a heavy sigh. He turns to Nate, disappointment written all over his face.
“That was Agent Langford. She has a job for him.”
“I’m right here, you know. You could just tell me directly.” Tanner pipes up, back to his usual cocky self now that Adam is there to buffer between him and Nate. Adam turns to him and speaks reluctantly.
“You are to come with us.”
“Back to the Warehouse?” Nate asks incredulously, to which Adam simply gives a short nod.
“To Morgan and Farah?”
“Yes.”
“I get to meet the girls this time, excellent.”
Tanner either doesn’t notice the tension in the air at the idea of him accompanying them to the Warehouse and meeting Farah and Morgan, or he simply doesn’t care about it. Knowing what Nate knows of the Nephilim, it’s probably the latter.
“It would seem so.” Adam answers reluctantly, then nods to the backpack sitting on the edge of the bed.
“Pack. We’ll wait for you outside.”
Tanner grins and grabs his backpack, hoisting it over one shoulder and gestures to the door. “I never unpacked, lead the way.”
Adam groans, not even bothering to hide his unhappiness with the situation before walking out of the hotel, followed closely by Tanner as Nate musters as much positivity as he can to follow behind the both of them.
Well. This will certainly be interesting.

@asilhalawadi  I retyped it from memory.
There’s a lot of things the Beyblade Metal Saga get wrong (do not get me started on how dirty they did Yu) but when they got it right, it was brilliant and the connection between Ryuga, Tsubasa, and Kyoya, is one of those things.
So starting in Metal Fusion, these three are set against each other as Gingka’s rivals- I single them out specifically because these are the only rivalries that span the entire Saga. You’ve got Kyoya who starts out intimidating but is quickly established a reliable ally-no matter what he says on the contrary. There’s Tsubasa who you can’t quite get a read on until well into the third act of Fusion but ,eventually chooses a side and sticks to it. Then there’s Ryuga, the “big bad” who never chooses Gingka’s “side” even as Gingka saves his life, he’s a wild card and they often emphasize his untrustworthiness throughout the Saga.  Green, Purple and Red respectively.
It’s easier to split this up and discuss the inner dynamics first so Imma start with Kyoya-Ryuga. Controversial opinion but these two are just slight variations on all the same characteristics;their personalities are centered around individuality, mistrust, arrogance, a lack of manners, and a specific honor code that they don’t like revealing- they’re mirrors.It’s interesting to note that their respective colours (the colour of their auras, Kyoya’s green and Ryuga’s Red) are complementary colours. On a colour wheel, Red is directly opposite from Green. Even as they go through the same things, they’re on different sides. In Fusion, they’re both manipulated by Doji and fight to truly develop their own personality but they’re pitted against each other. In Masters, their developments take place mostly off-screen, never meeting and in Fury, they’re once again major players on opposing sides. There is exactly two points in the series where these two collide (other than Ryuga’s death)
The first is Battle Bladers. Their match in Battle Bladers is fundamental in understanding how their characters connect. Seriously watch it, it’s one of the best battles in the Saga. Ryuga begins by trashing the stadium before the battle begins, a move that Kyoya counters by destroying the stadium even more. It’s a statement of power as much as an intimidation tactic and neither backs down. Their battle continues the same way as they snark back at each other and exchange blows each with the force of a special move. It’s very “fight fire with fire”, “eye for an eye” and it works better than anyone would have thought.  Tsubasa may be the first person to ever withstand the Dark Move but Kyoya’s the first one Ryuga fully takes seriously. It’s a fascinating battle. Kyoya taunts Ryuga to force him to use his full strength and Ryuga complies-knowingly. (The implications of him temporarily pushing back the Dark Force just because Kyoya asked-I) Kyoya has full confidence that his taunts will work, he admits as much. Ryuga, for his part, verbally praises Kyoya for being the only person to ever push him this far. (Granted, the way he says it, it’s more of an insult but.) They’re so equal in power that the battle was actually up to toss before Ryuga got possessed. But the thing with fighting fire with fire is that it leads to a lot of people getting burned. Ryuga gets thoroughly possessed (and would likely have stayed that way if not for Gingka) and Kyoya is impaled by a demon spirit. (Remind me to speculate on Hikaru and Kyoya’s response to the Dark Power). It doesn’t end well for either of them- but they’re equals.
In Metal Masters, they’re both demoted to secondary characters. They get lives outside of Gingka and don’t meet face to face until Metal Fury. Like I said, their arcs are parallel so it makes sense that the next time they battle toe to toe- they’re both on the verge of a series long personal conflict that has direct consequences on the fate of the world. This time, Ryuga is the self-assured one, he had an entire (mostly)Gingka-free season to sort out his issues and grow in power. Kyoya, on the other hand, isn’t even comfortable with his new bey yet and it’s almost depressing how quickly Ryuga wins that match. Ryuga even marks on it,  that although their beys may be equal in power, they themselves no longer are equals. Their maths are set into motion and that’s the last communication between the two of them.
Their individual conflicts in Fury are actually the same exact problem- stemming from the fact that they are both horrified at the thought of selflessness. They have to justify their actions as something that directly affects them and being tied down by caring about something else is one of the worst things imaginable.  By this meeting in Fury, Kyoya was a ticking bomb that had its roots all the way back to the beginning of Masters. In Fusion, they had become friends, but when Masters starts, Kyoya forces their relationship strictly back into rivals and does his bet to keep it that way. (I feel so bad for Gingka who literally gets nightmares about this moment) Even when he shows up to stop Ziggurat like some kind of guardian angel with impeccable timing - he’s quick to clarify that he’s not there for Gingka and only showed up because he thought Ryuga’s presence in the World Championships was suspicious. Like he’s right but ouch. It’s important to note that no one ever calls him out on this behavior where even as he helps and fights alongside them, he’s denying that he cares. I can’t even blame them for it because it wasn’t worth the effort.
When Kyoya actively joins Gingka again in Fury to search for Legendary Bladers, he’s obviously uncomfortable  with the situation. I mean, there’s only so much you can pile under the justification of doing it to secure your rivalry. Let’s be real, that excuse barely worked even all the way back in Fusion when Kyoya joined forces with a couple of people he can’t stand to follow Gingka all the way to effing Koma Village. So him going batshit was inevitable, Aguma was just the spark.
Ryuga is in the same boat, except when he professes to not care, it’s much more believable unless you take a good look at his actions. His help in defeating Ziggurat could be attributed to his canon reason of dealing with ghosts from his past. But that doesn’t explain why he practically forces Gingka to realize his bey’s power before his battle with Julian or him advising Tsubasa on overcoming the Dark Power and even making sure Tsubasa gets back to his team. When Fury starts, the audience has a reluctant hope that Ryuga will help- a thought that is promptly and swiftly crushed with a sledgehammer. You’re given a bit of hope again as we explore Ryuga and Kenta’s bonds and are barraged with scenes of Ryuga displaying consideration if not concern for the actual child following him around. But it’s not to be. In a scene that’s actually very similar to Ryuga’s OG battle with Kyoya, Doji taunts Ryuga who allows that taunt to influence his actions and again, it ends badly for him. Not only does he fully revive Nemesis, it ends up leading to his own death.
However, Ryuga does a 180 in death and his affection for Kenta/honour/guilt that this kid’s going to kill himself because he blames himself for your death brings Ryuga back to life (?) to hand the Star Fragment to Kenta. But it’s already too late and Zeus’s barrier doesn’t hold even with a replacement Summer constellation bey. His grand gesture, which is actually super emotional when you watch the entire thing, ends up doing nothing other than prolonging the battle.
But, but, but. In that very last moment when all hope is gone and Pegasus is the only bey left spinning, Kyoya admits what he’s been denying for years- the effect Gingka has had on his life and that he cares for the guy. In a show of trust that Kyoya from even a couple days previous would never have done, Kyoya offers his bey spirit along with that of his precious Leon’s to Gingka. This, of course, prompts everyone else to do the same and Gingka defeats Nemesis and saves the world. But it wouldn’t have happened without Kyoya doing that. One lives, one dies.
Now, Kyoya-Tsubasa. No worries, the rest of this is going to be significantly shorter. Green and Purple, both cool/secondary colours, are on the same side Despite this, Kyoya and Tsubasa kind of end up playing tag throughout the Saga. In Fusion, Kyoya’s the one at Gingka’s side until Doji switches the battle order in Battle Bladers and suddenly, tag, Tsubasa’s the one facing Ryuga. He loses, tag, Kyoya’s turn. In Masters, Tsubasa’s “tagged” and is now the one who travels with Gingka while Kyoya takes off and then there’s a brief pause for the Season Finale™. In Fury, Kyoya gets the star fragment, tag, he’s the one traveling with Gingka now and out of the two, Kyoya’s the one in the limelight for the rest of the season.
On a superficial level, Kyoya and Tsubasa are opposites. Kyoya’s brash where Tsubasa is reserved. Kyoya clashes head on, Tsubasa keeps his cool. Yet, under the surface, they’re alike- moody, antisocial, and emotionally constipated. Jk, that part’s not til later. Really though, they’re pretty alike. Despite Kyoya’s abrasiveness, he’s almost always got some kind of plan in battle (even if they’re occasionally dumb things like let’s start a tornado which could potentially sweep away the helicopter that’s our ride out of here) and Tsubasa is no stranger to winging it -hacking the Dark Nebula without planning it beforehand, anyone?. Their differences balance the other person out. They’re almost foils in a manner.
With these two, Fusion is the place to be. (two pints of Sam Adams and I’m workin on three) Specifically, Tsubasa’s match with Ryuga and Kyoya’s attitude about it.That clip displays it better than I could explain. Tsubasa spends most of the actual battle avoiding El Drago- his plan is to draw out El Drago’s full strength and then attack when Ryuga’s at his weakest. (it makes more sense in the story) Everyone in the stadium is against this- the crowd is booing, even Gingka and the rest of their friends are unsure but Kyoya doesn’t lose faith for a second. He urges Tsubasa to not pay attention to the crowd-to trust his instincts and at that moment, he’s the only person that believes in Tsubasa. His faith is rewarded as Tsubasa becomes the first person to withstand the Dark Move.
Despite having never battled each other, Tsubasa and Kyoya are established as equals in skill, power and intellect. And then the World Championships Qualifiers starts and along with it, Tsubasa and Kyoya’s one and only match.. The episode actually does most of the work for you by reflecting on these two, their skills and personalities. If you hadn’t thought of it already, you have now been spoonfed that Kyoya and Tsubasa are equals. The battle starts and them being equals is hammered in some more as they comment on how they know all of each other’s moves. But they don’t and Kyoya crushes him. Whether Kyoya would still have won if Tsubasa wasn’t possessed is up to debate. But the scales tip, nonetheless, and although Tsubasa overcomes the Dark Power, we’re not given a marker of any sort to tell if Tsubasa got stronger by the end. This is further complicated because in Fusion, Tsubasa never shows the extent of his power, so we don’t know if the Tsubasa that defeated the Dark Power is stronger than the Tsubasa before it. Either way, this battle marks the end of them as Tsubasa stagnates and Kyoya continues to grow stronger.
Next is Tsubasa-Ryuga, also known as my shortest section because there is exactly one thing and one thing only that ties them together- the Dark Power. Initially there are two reasons because it’s Tsubasa’s job to spy on Ryuga but the Dark Power’s more important and they didn’t interact much because of that job, anyway. Although the weakest pairing in this triangle, they have the most significant meetings, a grand total of 4, 1 of which, notably, is not a battle. The first one occurs when Doji attempts to feed Tsubasa’s power to Ryuga once Tsubasa is revealed to be a spy. It ends in a draw because Phoenix saves him from imminent failure. The second one is the Battle Bladers Match-the one where a bit of the Dark Power latches on to Tsubasa’s soul. The third is in Metal Masters. Under instructions from the WBBA, Hyoma tracks down Ryuga who then finds Tsubasa and gives him advice on defeating the Dark Power (while destroying Excalibur for the hell of it) and safely delivers him to Gingka and co. It’s the weirdest episode- plays straight out of an alternative universe. In Fury, they meet for the last time in a completely random tournament while both are searching for Legendary Bladers. They battle, Ryuga wins and again, it’s straight out of an alternative universe because Ryuga’s almost cordial- at least compared to his usual version. Like if you look at his other battles, Ryuga in this clip can even be called nice. If you watch it, you’ll note the exact second Tsubasa determines that Ryuga’s crazy. It’s also got the line “The Dragon Emperor just is The Dragon Emperor” which cracks me up for no reason. Personally, I do think Ryuga’s a smidgen softer on Tsubasa because of the shared Dark Power thing but they don’t interact nearly enough to confirm it.
(When I say last time, I do mean face to face confrontations, and not them just happening to be at the same place)
Between the three of them, they’ve got this complicated push-pull dynamic despite very limited interaction between them. They’ve also got a long list in common; from personality traits:prickly, hard-working, skilled, smart, mistrustful/suspicious, pessimistic, confident if not overconfident, antisocial,  habits: most at home in the wild, unusually strong connections to their beys, and the weirdest of all; Yu who has idolized all three of them right around the time of their biggest self-crisis; Ryuga, Tsubasa and Kyoya in that order.

Top 10 CSatM Episodes (1/2)
Ahhh, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons...! Probably only Second to Thunderbirds when it comes to the most popular and beloved Supermarination programme, with only Stingray able to compete for that coveted Silver Medal. But for me, it’s my Favourite!
I could go on and on about it, but for now I’ll go over my personal picks for a Top 10, which may give some insight into what about the way the series ticks makes it so enthralling.
Without further ado, let’s jump in! I’m not ordering them by preference, but rather the Episode order as I watched them on my DVDs (tediously the ep listings never seem to be consistent :T) Spoilers for all eps covered! ✂
Winged Assassin
Tumblr media
Starting off my Favourites is the 2nd episode of the whole show, featuring a good condensed version of the events of Ep 1 if ya missed it and probably the best explanation on the workings of Retrometabolism that canon media is ever gonna grant us. The plot is fairly straightforward, but what elevates this is the aforementioned Exposition, which feels more organic than it did last episode, the interactions between Scarlet and Blue, and even the shocking twist at the ending, where the mission that had been going so well falls at the very last hurdle, in spite of Spectrum’s best efforts.
One of the most chilling visuals in the series is a surfaced shard of a downed passenger plane floating up from the sea, before the camera pans out to show the duplicated plane flying through the air, and another dark shot later on, of Scarlet’s limp hand with blood running down after he died in the effort to prevent the massive explosion that occurs regardless.
Winged Assassin sets a lot of standards of things to follow; traits like massive collateral damage just as part of the Mysteron’s grander scheme, the close partnership of Scarlet and Blue, Scarlet’s seldom used Sixth Sense and even the occasional downer ending, where the Mysterons manage to sneak a victory in and actually kill or destroy their stated target.
White as Snow
Tumblr media
This episode shines a very interesting light on the dynamics between Col. White and Scarlet. It’s obviously one of a superior giving orders most of the time, but in a twist from the somewhat strict nature of Jeff Tracy over his sons who show respect to their father by not arguing back, with these two there’s actually the occassional spark of friction, that Scarlet will voice when he doesn’t like the commands and will only reluctantly go through the motions in the situation. I’m referring mostly to the first Mysteron attack, where a satellite is on a collision course with Cloudbase, but Scarlet unsubtly opposes the plan as there’s the possibility of innocent people on board who would get killed if Spectrum shot it down first. However, he’s overruled... and it turns out that it was indeed a trap, the people on board had been exploded hours ago and what was shot down was a Replicant copy. And that’s just the first half of the episode! But I find it interesting that again, back in Thunderbirds, the call to not remotely destroy something like that on the offchance it was populated would be the Correct course of action, but in this show pragmatism is needed, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Anyway, the episode has another Mysteron attack aboard a submarine, with plenty of tension... but yet, there’s something of a comedic bend to the episode, such as a furious White shouting at the currently dead Scarlet, much to the Naval crew’s confusion, and the scene at the end which I’ve taken the picture from. The weakest part of the episode is probably Blue in charge of Cloudbase, as he doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing and I feel they coulda done more with him. Oh well! At least we got the fantastic music insert, which is also titled White as Snow.
Operation Time
Tumblr media
Probably ranking in my Top 3, Operation Time is pretty remarkably both one of the most tension filled... yet an extremely funny episode. I guess some of that’s just due to my own odd sense of humour, though some moments are clearly intentional. Both the operation scenes, the Mysteron’s pursuit of the Doctor, and finally Spectrum chasing the Mysteron!Doctor are all played very suspensefully, and I find myself holding my breath. But then the funny scenes, like everything with Magenta and how hilariously pissy and unsubtle the Fake!Doctor gets leave me in stitches! [pun unintended lol]
I dunno, maybe some of the amusement effect is enhanced by the strong contrast between the scenes. Also we get a very grisly death for the Fake!Doctor and this episode establishes weaknesses for the Mysterons that will come up in future instalments. There’s a lot this ep has to offer, even something of an insight into 60′s medicine (though the series is set in 2068). While an extremely minor point, both the scenes with operations have the pssssshh.....fsssssshhhh sound that I associate with ventilators even though they ain’t being used, what’s up with that? But it’s another thing to add to the Atmosphere so s’all good, man.
Odd that I can’t think of much else to put here, I love it so much but maybe it’s so solid in the couple of things it does that’s all there really is to say? I’m feeling frustrated at how I don’t seem to have written enough for it, but trust me when I say it’s excellent and that it’s absolutely a Must Watch if you’re giving the series a look. (Though again, I’m spoiling each ep covered so uhh... read at your own risk if you’re using this to judge it!)
The Heart of New York
Tumblr media
An interesting tale that I’ve actually Heard more than I’ve watched, as the audio adaptation is a free sample on the official Gerry Anderson site! [At least at the time of writing lmao, it’s worth a look anyway. This message was not paid for.]
This story is somewhat unique in that the Mysterons’ plan is pretty tame by their standards. They want to blow up... a Bank. Sure, it contributes to the long game they play, causing disruption and destruction, but compared to the casual massive collateral damage they inflict as part of a more focused murder attempt (again, see Winged Assassin and the passenger plane) this is small potatoes. But still, they end up feeling more moral in this episode than the actual ne’er do wells, a trio of would-be Robbers. These guys are pretty assholish, deliberately using the horrible cosmic war that’s already taken lives in the triple digits to hide behind while they take their pickings from a vault. Captain Black locking these morons in with the explosives feels like poetic justice, that they really did get what they wanted and are punished in kind.
Maybe this feeds the Mysteron’s point, that humans are aggressive, corrupt and selfish... though Colonel White challenges this view at the end of the episode, stating the robbers aren’t indicative of humanity as a whole. The whole shebang is a lot like The Twilight Zone, honestly. All we need is Rod Serling to open and close the episode...
Point 783
Tumblr media
This episode is a bit harder to go into depth on, to be honest, it’s not one with a particular gimmic that makes it more memorable, but it’s a very solid ep all the same. There’s still a fair few layers that keep me thinking, like how it seems one of the Methane Trunk drivers had seemingly been Mysterionised offscreen to enable the Mysteron’s main pawns to me made. Then the first attempt to kill the Supreme Commander is thwarted by Scarlet’s (somewhat inconsistant) Mysteron Sense and perspex tubes that take their sweet time to descend and don’t even prioritise the actual target lol
Anyway, the meat of the episode is focused on the guest vehicle, the Unitron implacable unmanned Tank that can be controlled remotely by human operator or programmed to destroy something particular, and it will not stop or slow down no matter what’s thrown at it. Something something Proto-Drone Warfare commentary. The Mysterons’ last big attempt to assassinate today’s dude has one of their Mysterionised guys from earlier become the target, unknown to everyone else until he draws his gun inside the SPV (who even points out the 6th sense didn’t activate!). Scarlet gets shot 3 times but manages to eject himself and the Supreme Commander, which leads to the above scene, which offers a nice, human response.
Mr Supreme Commander later chews Blue out as it emerges instead of Scarlet going to a Hospital within 10 minutes, Spectrum insisted on waiting for one of their Helicopters to pick him up, which took 3 hours. Poor Blue has to try reassuring the army guys that Scarlet will be fine, truuuuust hiiiim. It makes me wonder if Spectrum is making things easier or harder overall by keeping his Retrometabolism under their hats, though I can understand they’d have reservations, but just trying to gloss over it with a ‘no no, it’s fine, he’ll get better.’ type answer doesn’t seem all that convincing. But I enjoy that it’s semi challenged here. And this episode summary ended up longer than expected cause all the Thinking I’ve done, haha!

This has gotten a lot longer than expected and will be Two Parts! Find the second half here~

BHDC - Round 3 - Pirates
(Thanks to @satelliteinasupernova for helping me pick a historical era for this!)
Weak in the Knees
The sea was a harsh mistress - fickle, stormy, and deadly if you weren’t careful.  She would take your life as quickly as she took your heart.  Never could man tame her, nor could he understand her, he could only pray that he stayed on her good side.  She was also the best thing that had ever happened to Forsythe Jones the Third.
Employed at ten on a small trading sloop, sent to man the crows nest and work the rigging, he’d lost his heart to the open skies and lawless waves.  By fifteen he’d learned enough to become a crewman, his gangly body’s reach a boon during rough storms.  In his sixteenth year he, along with the rest of The Intrepid, had been pressed into British service for a war they neither knew nor cared about.  And by eighteen he’d traded the British Naval Fleet’s canon and tack for the crew of The Whyte Wyrm.  His shares were one one-hundredth of what it should have been, but Jones would have gladly worked for rum and plantains to get away from Admiral St. Clair’s savage rule.
The Captain of the Wyrm took a strange liking to Jones, partially because they shared the same strange name and partially because Jones was a quick, eager study.  An old, wizened drunkard too fond of the stories of his youth, F.P. had taken Jones under his wing and trained him in the manner of a second mate to the ire of the older crew.  Yet none complained for F.P. fostered a camaraderie that the British Navy, despite all their ineffectual pomp and circumstance, could never hope to rival.
Among the younger crew Jones found camaraderie of his own.  Each had lived on the sea longer than they ever had on land and knew a ship better than themselves.  So when the Wyrm sank due to the Captain’s error off the lagoon reefs of Bermuda, the younger crew staked a claim in their own future.
Four years of hard work, scraping together their funds doing jobs for smugglers, merchants, and the occasional naive Lord who wanted the true ‘Treasure Island’ experience, had led to this moment.  They’d managed to save enough to trade for an old merchant ship, tried and true, one that had weathered many a storm.  Mr. Lodge had promised that this was a ship worthy of any seafaring man worth his salt.  It was an offer too good to pass up for the quartet, and so Fangs had readily negotiated for her.
“Doesn’t it make ye want to weep?” Fangs asked.
He clapped Jones on the shoulder and slid an arm around Toni’s waist.  Sweet Pea grunted, but even he couldn’t hide his excitement.  Standing on the dock the quartet gazed in marvel at the run down ship, it’s hide tattered by hastily filled canon holes and barnacles six inches deep, the sails eaten through by rats, and the mast standing only through a feat of tar, rope, and a strange aversion to gravity.
Weep was perhaps too strong a word, but despite its tattered disposition, The Iconoclast was theirs.  For once in their short, miserable lives they had something to their names.  Their future was their own.  To pirate or pillage, to trade or travel; the decision was theirs and theirs alone.
And the thought made Jones weak in the knees.
A brisk sea wind tickled the back of Elizabeth’s neck and she ran a hand across it to disperse the strange vulnerability she felt.  Necessity required her hair to be shorn almost to her scalp, but that didn’t mean she didn’t feel a pain of regret.  The loss of her hair made her feel naked in a way the harsh wool of the trouser should have.  The trousers, at least, facilitated her movement and helped her hide in plain sight.
She walked down the docks to the next ship in port and was greeted by a leather faced man with a missing eye, the empty socket puckered and black.  Elizabeth swallowed her revulsion and stepped up to the man with her chin high despite the shaking of her hands.  The man chuckled at her bravado.  He made an awful retching noise and spat up a glob at her feet.
“Lookin’ fer werk?” he drawled, amused by her if his grin was anything to go by.
“Yes.”  She winced at how high her voice sounded.  She cleared her throat and did her best to flatten the pitch to a gravel that itched her throat.  “Yes, I am.”
The man guffawed and winked lewdly as if he knew her secret.  “We’re dry docked until the captain sobers up.  Try the tavern off the square.  Ask fer Fangs.”
She nodded a thanks and turned back towards the town.  The man’s voice slowed her step and she turned back to him.
“They’re bastards, the whole lotta them,” he said.  “I’d be careful around those curs if I were you, sir.”
Elizabeth scurried away, the man’s hacking laughter haunting her.  She burrowed further into her coat.  If she weren’t able to blend in as a man she’d be found out quickly and sold to the highest bidder, pressed into service at the local bar or brothel, or worse.  Brought back to her mother and pressed into marriage.
It was easy enough to find the square in the bustling town.  Finding the tavern containing a ‘Fangs’, however, was much harder.  Almost every building around the square housed a tavern full of brawling, drunken men stinking of sweat, dirt, and rum, their companions ladies whose hard lives were etched in the lines around their eyes, skirts cut short above the knee.  These were the places her peers whispered about, aghast at the sheer depravity and jealous of the unrestrained revelry.  In all her life, Elizabeth never could have foretold this sort of people could be her saving grace.
It wasn’t until the fifth tavern that she had any luck.  Behind the bar was a rough looking woman, her leather skin beaten by the sun and highlighted with rouge and tattoos.  Elizabeth shouted above the din and the bartender nodded.
“But you din’t want a thing to do with them, laddie.  Only greenhorns looking fer an early grave,” the woman cautioned.
Elizabeth bit her lip to keep from pleading.  This was the third coastal town she’d been to and the first she’d found any hope of leaving Bermuda.  With a sigh, the barkeep nodded towards the back corner of the room where a pair were holding court at a wooden table by the fireplace.  Elizabeth nodded her thanks and picked her way through the rank crowd.
The large one of the pair, dark complected and scowling, gave her pause.  He towered over his companion even while seated, his arms coursed through with muscles borne of fighting the sea.  A black and blue sea snake coursed through waves drawn on his arms, its tail propelling the creature from one wrist to the other.  Next to him sat a petite woman, her long, sun kissed hair strewn through with pink and purple ribbons.  Kohl outlined her dark eyes and brightened her smile.  They made an odd pair in this tavern full of old, sun-beaten men and women, both too young and new to have much experience.
She swallowed down her fear; Elizabeth hadn’t made it this far to let her own prejudices hold her back.  It didn’t matter if they were young or old, experienced or not.  All she needed was a ship that could take her away from this island as quickly as possible.
“Fangs?” she asked in a wavering voice when she drew near.
The tall man sneered at her and crossed his arms, a threat that made the sea snake writhe along the inked sea.  The woman peered at her in curiosity.  Elizabeth drew her fingers into her palms to keep from rearranging the ill fitting clothes.  Without the gloves she normally wore her nails bit into her skin and the pain reminded her why she was there.
“I heard you were looking to take on crew.”
The man snorted and waved her on, as dismissive a gesture as she’d ever seen at any of Lord Mantle’s dances.  Elizabeth held her ground.
“Are you Fangs?” she repeated.
The woman, taking pity on her, shook her head.  The ribbons danced, a hypnotic wave of color that rivaled any fashionable trend from London.
“You just missed him.  But I don’t think this is the crew for you,” she said kindly.
Elizabeth was stunned.  Never before had she been denied anything; the daughter of a landed Baron - former Baron - she’d grown up with all manner of worldly creations at her feet.  Anything her hearts desire had been done at once, unless it went against her mother’s wishes.
“And why not?”
The woman raised her eyebrows.  “Have you ever been asea?  Have you ever held on for your life while Poseidon crashed down around you, determined to take you for his own?  Have you ever sat on deck for days on end while Helios does his best to make you believe you’re in a Maharaja’s palace?  Have you ever -“ she glanced down at Elizabeth’s hands, pale and unblemished “-worked a day in your life?”
Fury ran up Elizabeth’s chest into her face; no one dared to speak to her in this way, especially not some commoner.  Her nails bit deeper, drawing a bit of blood.  She squeezed harder until the fury ebbed.  That wasn’t her place anymore.  She was, if nothing else, lower in status than the two in front of her and if she didn’t act with the proper etiquette she would quickly be found out.
“I’m willing to do whatever work you require.”
The tall man snorted and purposefully looked away from her.  “Keep walking.”
“Are you Fangs?” Elizabeth challenged again.
“If I’m not?”
“I was told Fangs was hiring.  If you aren’t Fangs -“
An arm was thrown over her shoulders and she stiffened at the overly familiar touch.  The smell of rum, pomade, and a day spent in the sun overwhelmed her.
“You were looking fer me?”
Elizabeth turned her head a fraction to find a man with close cropped hair crowding her.  “Fangs, I presume?”
He grinned.  “Aye.  And you are?”
“Eli-“ she caught herself, though not quick enough at the woman’s interested glance. “zar.  Elizar Smith.”
“Well then Eli, what fate brings you our way?”  Fangs said as he sat down at the table.  He sloshed out a bottle of amber liquid into three waiting cups and pushed one towards her.  Forgoing a cup, he drank deeply from the bottle.
Elizabeth - Elizar now, she supposed - pursed her lips.  A farce done once was theater; a farce done twice was folly.
“Work.”
Fangs looked her up and down, a mirror to what had just concluded.  “Can you climb?”
“Yes.  My father couldn’t keep me out of the cork trees he kept.”
“Can you follow orders?”
“I’ve been doing it all my life, I don’t see why I should stop now,” she said sourly, remembrances of all her mother’s chastising coming to mind.
Fangs and the woman laughed at her cheek.
“Can you cook?”
Her mouth went dry.  A woman of her station always had someone to cook for them, to clean and launder for them, but how hard could manual labor be?  A bit of water, a bit of heat, and you have a meal; a bit of elbow grease, thread, and cloth and you have a sail.
A lie, though, could not fall from her tongue.  Regardless of her urgency, she’d heard too many stories from her brother of pirates killing their own, hanging them off the side of the deck and watching for sport as the sharks and eels and piranhas leapt to eat their crew.  How easily they’d eat their own companions when food ran low, or how quick they were to draw guns over an insult.
“No.  I’m afraid I’ve never had the privilege.”
Fangs nodded at her honesty.  He raised his glass in a toast that no one else joined.  “We push off at dawn in two days.  You’ll be paid a hundredth of anything we make, minus provisions.”
He held out his hand and Elizabeth shook it, ignoring his companions.  Business concluded, Elizabeth stood and made a shaky exit.  She escaped into the alley behind the tavern to catch her breath.  Without lies or deception she managed to make her way in the world.  Though she’d never had to do anything more taxing than a waltz with a suitor, she was determined to make this work.
She had to, if she wanted to be free of this island she’d been brought to as a babe.  The prospect of leaving the broken mess of her mother’s dreams behind; the shame of her sister; the anger of her father.  It was almost too much to be denied it now.
The reality of it made her weak in the knees.

Forgotten But Not Gone
Fandom: Pokémon
Chapter: 1/?
Chapter Word Count: 5,631
Can also be read on FFN and AO3
Summary: Ten years have passed since Ash disappeared from Pallet Town, with none of his companions and rivals knowing to where he vanished to. Now, the Pokémon Masters League, an event held every 20 years, is on once again, to find the strongest trainer in the world. Hosted in the Seishi region, who will be selected to compete in such a prestigious tournament? Will the event go ahead without a hitch, in a region still feeling the effects of the ravages of war? And will a certain young trainer resurface from the void to face what has happened?
--------------
AN: So, here’s the story I mentioned in my update.
Decided to try my hand at one of those 'Ash disappears for x amount of time and returns for a tournament' stories, with a bit of a twist to both that and the 'Ash betrayed' concepts. It's not my first Pokémon story, though technically all that's been uploaded of the other is a prologue (over on FFN), so … more or less a new endeavour.
Now, to give a quick little bit of info, the events of this story start 10 years after the end of Ash's journey in Kalos, which is where this'll deviate from canon. We are starting from that 10 years later point, and I'll be drawing back to the events in that 10 year gap throughout, whether just as an allusion or an explanation, or as a flashback. I'll explain what happens with his Alolan journeys in the story too.
I'll have a bit more to say afterwards, so, please enjoy!
-----------------
Chapter 1 - The Frontier Is Set
The Seishi region; a land that had been ravaged by constant battles and war several years ago. Yet now, they stood in a shaky time of peace. A peace where, though the battling had come to a standstill for a few years, the people are still left recovering from their ordeals. But now, a new set of battles seem poised to engulf the region …
-----------------
The brightly lit stadium at the base of Mt Daybreak illuminates the surrounding buildings and landscape, with multiple coloured beams of light shining up into the night sky. Inside, many people are excitedly chatting with one another as they shuffle their way throughout the areas, collecting tickets, food, merchandise, or simply talking about who they believe will win tonight's oncoming battle.
Through this bustling crowd walks a group of five people. Leading at the front is a rather rotund man, clad in an aqua shirt with white Pokéballs and floral patterns typical of an Alolan design. Hanging from his neck is a pristine red Pokénav, folded down and compartmentalised, though not as shiny as his tinted sunglasses. A big grin is plastered on his face as he takes in the many people.
“Looks like we've arrived on fight night,” he grins, nodding in approval at all the spectators as a couple of kids dressed up in costumes – a girl in a small suit of flimsy fabric armour and a boy with wings on his back – dash in front of the group chasing after one another.
“Seems like it,” says one of the men behind him. Despite the slight wrinkles starting to grow on due to age, his yellow hair still stands wild, while he also wears a long sage green trenchcoat , a white turtleneck underneath and a pair of brown trousers. “Think there's any chance we can join in?”
“NO!” bellows the other man beside him, causing some people around the group to jump and glace at them. Meanwhile, the former just smirks unfazed as he grabs at his gloves and tightens them. “We are not here to battle with the locals, Palmer. We are here on business.”
“Aw, come on, Brandon,” Palmer says, looking towards the loud gentleman, adorned in a big buttoned cider green jacket and matching trousers, with thick brown hair with a few strands of grey threading through. “We're here as Frontier Brains. Surely if it's a tournament, we can just register and compete as well. We are supposed to be on the look out for strong trainers to challenge our branches wherever we go. Right, Scott?”
“Well, we shouldn't have too much trouble finding strong trainers here,” the round man leading the group chuckles. “Seishi's league has built up a reputation in its short lifespan for being strong. The gym leaders are known for being tough as nails, and the Elite Four even moreso. But, I don't think that tonight's battle is one you'll be able to join in on.”
“Come on, Scott,” Palmer groans. “It'll be fine if we take care of this business quickly, right? Then we've got all the time in the world to battle.”
“Those boys and their battles,” a woman sighs, trailing behind her companions as they continue bickering. The tallest in the group, she's donned in an outfit reminiscent of a Seviper, consisting of a purple halter neck crop top that shows off her slender figure, with long purple gloves on each hand, long black pants with a golden diamond pattern around her waist, and her long jet black hair cascading down her back, save for the red lowlights in the sides down her front.
She then turns back to the last member of their group. Another woman, her long shiny lilac hair is tied up at the base of her neck with a black ribbon before billowing out down her back to her waist. She wears a slim black blazer and matching tie, with a formal white shirt underneath, with skinny pants, shoes and gloves matching the rest of her jet black clothing. The woman is glancing around, her eyes quickly moving from one person to the next, as does those of the Espeon walking beside her, occasionally brushing her tail up against the woman's legs.
“Are you alright, Anabel?” the tall woman questions, dropping back slightly to walk beside her companion.
Anabel gives her a small nod in response, still keeping her eyes focused on the people around them.
“Epee?” calls up the Espeon at her feet, looking up at Anabel.
“I'm fine, really,” she reassures her Pokémon, all the while as a gloved hand slowly reaches into a pocket in her blazer. “Just a little anxious around this many people.”
Espeon lets out a purr and brushes herself against Anabel's legs, getting a small smile to cross her trainer's face, as her companion glances around, taking in the people who were getting more and more interested in their group. Though most of that was to do with the constant groans and insisting coming from Palmer, and the occasional bellowing denial from Brandon, the two women were also picking up some of the curious gazes due to them being part of the same group.
“Yeah, there's too many eyes on us,” she sighs, closing her eyes while clenching her hand into a fist. “If only Palmer could think of anything other than battling.”
She looks over to see Anabel give a short nod as she takes her hand out of her pocket and brings out three metallic balls, before holding the arm by her side and dropping the balls. They start to drop, only to hover in mid-air in a straight vertical line.
“Are you sure you're okay?”
“Yeah, Lucy,” she nods as the balls start slowly moving in small circular motions as her fingers individually curl and flex.
The group continue moving on until they reach a desk with a few people standing behind it, while a couple of others quickly move away. One, a man with slicked back ashen brown hair and buzzed sides, catches Scott's eye as the group approaches.
“Hi, can I help you?”
“Yes, my name is Scott, and these are Palmer, Brandon, Lucy and Anabel,” he replies, gesturing to each person as he says their names, them giving a polite nod as they are introduced, before reaching inside his shirt and pulling out a document. “We were invited here by the champion for a certain meetup.”
The attendant nods as he takes the papers and quickly looks over them, before looking back up at the group.
“Of course. If you'll all follow me?” he says, getting up from his seat, quickly leaning in to whisper something to another attendant at the desk before walking off, leading the group over to a side door and through.
The group are lead up into a lift and then through a few winding corridors until they are brought before a large door.
“Please wait in here,” the attendant says as he opens the door for them. “Someone will be with you shortly.”
He gives them a short bow and walks away, leaving the group of five to walk in.
Inside is a large room that looks a little like a repurposed conference room, with a few couches spread around the sides of the room along with several chairs set up around the room. A few tables had been pushed together in the middle, with different bowls of snacks and glasses for drinks sitting atop. Positioned at the far corner of the right wall of the room from where they came in was another door, with a tinted window stretching out along the wall, while directly opposite was a third door that seemed to lead out to a viewing box for the stadium. Finally, hanging on the wall opposite the entering group of Frontier Brains is a muted TV broadcasting someone, with a round face, a flat cap on top, and four weird spiny growths growing from their cheeks, giving their analysis of the battle to come, with another couch sitting underneath.
Also, sitting around the room are seven people. The first, a woman sitting on her own with long blonde hair stretching down her back and covering her left eye, draped in a long black cloak with jet black furry cuffs and trims, a tear drop shaped ornament hanging from the base of the v-neck, a black shirt underneath, and black formal pants. She is sitting on a couch happily licking a double scoop ice cream cone and ignoring the constant flirtations of the second, a man with red and brown hair fanned out in a spiky mane, wearing a tanned poncho-style cloak with a large collared black shirt, white pants and a chain of Pokéballs hanging round his neck. The third and fourth, a man with spiked scarlet hair and dressed in a navy blue tunic with blood orange trims and black cuffs, with matching pants and a long charcoal black cape draped over his shoulders, sitting on a couch talking to an old man with a long white bushy beard and long frizzy hair, wearing a crimson vest with a light and dark blue stripe across the middle, and a pair of khaki shorts.
The fifth, a man with teal blue hair, adorned in a white beret and cape, a teal shirt with white sleeves, and purple pants, leans up against a wall with his eyes closed and arms crossed, softly humming to himself. The sixth, a woman with a light brown star-like hair design, wearing an all white outfit consisting of a long sleeved blazer with golden trims scattered throughout with two lacy wing-like bulges sticking out of the back, a pair of short shorts, and a choker from which dangles a golden swan-shaped necklace encompassing a dazzling stone, closes her violet shadowed eyes as the seventh, another woman with pine green hair and red rimmed glasses wearing a grey suit, a white shirt underneath tied off with a thin cherry ribbon tying it off, continues to talk as she gestures to the leather-bound book in her hands. All heads swivel round to the group of five as they enter, as Scott gives them all a small wave, before a few return to what they were doing beforehand, if they were doing something in particular in the first place. With a nod to the rest of his group, Scott walks over to the scarlet haired man and the bushy bearded old man, leaving the others to their devices.
“Ah, Palmer, I take it you've been training hard since our last match?” the blonde haired woman says, looking past the man with the spiky mane.
“Of course, Cynthia,” Palmer replies, walking over to the two. “I wouldn't hesitate to challenge you to another battle. Even here and now if it would take your fancy?”
Both Brandon and Lucy sigh at Palmer's challenge as The Tower Tycoon integrates himself into the conversation with Cynthia and the Unova Champion, Alder. Brandon then heads over to join in with Scott, the joint Kanto and Johto Champion Lance, and the head of the Pokémon League, Mr Goodshow. Anabel moves over to an empty chair and sits herself down, giving her Espeon a pat with her left hand as she jumps up into the Salon Maiden's lap, while using the right to keep the three metallic balls orbiting round through the air beside her. Finally, Lucy takes up a space nearby by an empty space on the wall, keeping an eye on the room and on Anabel.
After a few moments, the door by the tinted window opens up. First through is a giant hulk of a man, large in bulk and height. His arms are as thick as tree trunks, with winding braided and rune covered tattoos weaving along each arm, while wearing a sage green jumper with rolled up sleeves, thick brown gloves on each hand, and beige overalls sitting across his chest and legs. Sitting around his forehead is a thin golden band, while his golden hair with strands of grey is slicked back, along with his neatly brushed golden beard.
The second through is a young looking woman with tanned skin and shiny silver hair tied up into a ponytail. Wearing a thin white crop top and short jeans with an aqua blue sarong wrapped around her waist, she bounces in with a smile, looking around the room. Her eyes seem to light up even more as she spots Anabel, though, when she notices the lack of recognition from the Salon Maiden, it returns to the still energetic beam from before, as she leaps over the arm rest of the couch underneath the TV and lands at the same time as the giant before her.
The third and final through, as he shuts the door behind him, is a man with dark brown skin and braided chocolate brown hair, wearing a loose sky blue t-shirt over a skintight black undershirt and baggy black tracksuit pants. He takes his place between the two that came in before him, though he remains standing up.
“I'm sorry for the wait,” the man says with a short bow. “On behalf of the Seishi Pokémon League, I welcome all of you to our home. If I may begin the introductions, the man to my right is Sheamus, one of our Elite Four members.”
He gestures to the large burly man, who gives a nod and a grin as he raises his hand in greeting.
“To my left is Hikaru, another of our Elite Four members,” he replies, gesturing to the young woman on his other side who gives everyone a big wave and flashes a large shiny smile.”
“Hiya! How're you doing?!” she beams.
“And I'm Raphael, Leader of the Elite Four and Former Champion of Seishi,” he finishes with a bow. “Should we proceed with the other introductions, or are the rest of you acquainted?”
“Oh please, allow me,” Scott says as he stands up. “If you fine folk are not aware, I'm Scott, the head of the Battle Frontier. The people I came in with are the Tower Tycoon Palmer, from our Sinnoh branch, along with the Pike Queen Lucy, Salon Maiden Anabel, and Pyramid King Brandon, all from our Kanto branch.”
Each of the Frontier Brains gives a short nod and a wave as they are mentioned, before Scott continues on with his speech.
“I would have brought someone from our Johto branch as well if I could, but I'm afraid they were all busy with challengers,” Scott chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. “As for the rest, beside me is the head of the Pokémon League, Mr Charles Goodshow, and the joint Kanto and Johto Champion, Lance.”
Both give a polite nod, letting Scott get on with the introductions.
“Over by our battling veteran Palmer is the Sinnoh Champion Cynthia, and the Champion of Unova, Alder.”
Alder gives a chuckle and a wave, while Cynthia gives a kind nod before returning to her ice cream.
“Continuing on, leaning against the wall over there is the recently recrowned Hoenn Champion and Top Coordinator, Wallace.”
“Guilty as charged,” Wallace says with a smile.
“And last, but certainly not least, the duo sitting over there is the Kalos Champion and superstar of the big screen, Diantha, along with, if what I've heard is correct, her manager, Kathi Lee.”
“Yes, that's correct,” Kathi Lee confirms as she snaps her book shut, while Diantha gives a simple smile to the rest of the room.
“Now, unless anyone has anyone else to say, I'll pass over to Mr Goodshow to explain why we're here.”
“If I may,” Alder interjects as Scott finishes, leaving the many powerful trainers in the room to look over at him, “I believe we were all summoned here by the word of Seishi's Champion. So, with all due respect, why is he not here to meet with us?”
“Ah, yes, well, that was initially the plan,” Raphael begins.
“However, the plans seem to have changed a bit thanks to tonight's battle,” Sheamus continues with a low, gruff voice.
“Is tonight's battle a title match?” Wallace questions, pushing himself off the wall and standing upright.
“No, it's a battle with our absent Elite Four member,” Hikaru explains. “It just so happens that he's giving her a hand with some last minute battle preparations.”
“Our hope was that he would still be ready to discuss terms with the rest of you, but it seems like they're taking longer than expected,” Raphael continues as he takes a seat between his fellow Elite Four members. “And besides, I tend to be the one who is more involved with any administrative work anyway, so it's not too big of a loss.”
“Alright then,” Wallace concedes. “Mr Goodshow?”
“Thank you,” Mr Goodshow says as he stands up, though is cut off as Lance holds up a hand to cut him off.
“I'm sorry, Mr Goodshow, but if you'll excuse me, I'm wondering why Scott decided to bring four Frontier Brains along with him for our talks,” the Dragon Master cuts in, looking towards the slightly rotund individual.
“Well, as I said I was hoping to have a member from each branch here, to make sure whatever concerns they had, if there were any, were taken care of,” Scott explains. “As it were, there was another reason for us to come.”
“Yes, I'd heard from our Champion that you were hoping to open a Battle Frontier branch here in Seishi,” Raphael responds. “I take it you were hoping to find strong candidates through this upcoming tournament to take the place of the Frontier Brains here?”
“Indeed I was,” Scott chuckles in good nature.
“Perhaps we should explain that the people here aren't that fond of outsiders,” Sheamus points out. “Particularly if they feel they cannot trust them.”
“I have been made aware of that, both by Brandon and others who have travelled here,” Scott responds. “That's why I was hoping to build it out of people local to the region, to keep the trust of the people. At the absolute most, your Champion and I were discussing the possibility of transferring one of our Kanto branch over to help set it up, and potentially be the final challenge.”
“You were?” Lucy pipes up, the three present Kanto Frontier Brains looking over to Scott in surprise.
“Indeed,” Scott confirms. “In truth, we were going to pick between one of the three I brought here, if it was needed. Though, admittedly, there were some complications with each of you.”
“Such as?”
“Well, Brandon still wants to continue on with his research into the many ruins around the world. It would be a bit difficult to set up a new branch around a man who may not be there for a decent amount of the time.”
“That is true,” Brandon concedes.
“As for you, I'm well aware that you aren't too comfortable around a lot of new people, despite how you like to hold yourself,” Scott continues, getting a slight blush from Lucy as she turns her head away. “I'm sure you'd come if I'd ask you to, but you'd probably prefer to stay at the Battle Pike right now.  Lucy doesn't give much of a response other than a short hum, keeping her head turned away to try and hide the slight blush dusting her cheeks.
“Now, Spencer was also an option, but he is starting to get on in his age, though you better not tell him I said that,” Scott finishes with a laugh. “I believe it'd be a bit rough asking him to move over if he's not wanting to, or able to, keep competing in a few years time.”
“So, that leaves Anabel,” Scott concludes, with the many eyes in the room turning towards the Salon Maiden. “Had it been quite a few years earlier, I don't think there would be any question about her capability in fronting a branch here. But, as some of you know, there are some … hurdles that still need dealing with.”
Despite the number of eyes on her, Anabel shows no sign that she heard anything that Scott had said about her, instead focusing purely giving her Espeon some scratches underneath her chin, getting a delighted purr from the Sun Pokémon while still absentmindedly spinning the three metallic balls above her gloved right hand.
“But, perhaps that conversation should be continued with the presence of the Champion,” Scott concedes, turning back to the others. “So, are there any other questions?”
No one else raises any objections, leaving Scott to turn towards Mr Goodshow.
“Well, then, Charles, if you would?”
“Thank you, Scott,” the elderly man says as he stands upright. “And thank you to the rest of you for turning up.”
“Now, as you all know, we are here to discuss terms for the Pokémon Masters League coming up in a few months. Seishi is intended to be the hosts, and for the most part the preparations will be organised between us in the Pokémon League and Seishi region authorities, along with the Wallace Cup that's to be held.”
“Yeah!” cheers Hikaru as she leaps up from her seat. “I'll be working alongside Wallace to take care of that, if that's okay with you?”
“Of course,” Wallace says with a simple nod of his head. “I'd be glad to work alongside a fellow Top Coordinator to bring this prestigious contest to life here.”
“Awesome! We're going to make this the greatest contest ever!”
“As for the rest of you, you are brought in to make sure that the conditions work with the expectations of your own League members,” Charles continues on. “Each region will take care of nominating the participants coming from their own regions. If there's someone else from another region that you believe should be a part of the competition, then that's up to you to negotiate with their corresponding region.”
“I'm guessing that, because no one from Galar is here, that you weren't able to come to terms with them?” Cynthia pipes up.
“No, I'm afraid not,” Mr Goodshow answers says with the shake of his head. “Unfortunately, Chairman Rose refused to budge on his insistence of having portable Power Spots built here in Seishi to accommodate the Dynamax phenomenon that's prevalent in Galar. As it was, the professors and scientists here opposed the decision, as they can't say what kind of effect the energy dispersed from such an energy source could have on the surrounding area.”
“Especially as they aren't too sure what the continuous effects are of the energy the land gives off anyway,” Raphael adds on. “One of our Gym Leaders is leading the research into the full effects, along with our own Pokémon Professor.”
“Wouldn't that make Seishi a dangerous place to hold the World Championships, then?” Wallace inquires.
“As far as we can tell, it doesn't seem to have any major affects on either people or Pokémon, beyond expanding the move limit a Pokémon has from four to eight,” Raphael explains.
“It also appears to make the local flora blossom at a quicker rate, and at greater levels than other regions,” Sheamus adds on. “Of course, that is purely speculation based off of my own experiences in the field.”
As the talks continue on, Anabel starts to tune the others out as she keeps her focus on her Espeon, continuing to scratch her under her chin while also floating the balls above her hand. She keeps this up for a few moments, the noise of the others' conversations fading away into the void of her mind, before a small spike seems to emanate from her mind.
'… Anabel …' a soft male voice reverberates through her head, causing her to grimace as she grabs at her temple with the hand that was rubbing Espeon. The floating balls falter in mid-air, the wider arcs tightening up as they begin to spiral back into a vertical line.
“Anabel?” a different soft voice comes from outside, as Lucy suddenly places a hand on Anabel's shoulder, also getting the attention of Brandon and Scott. “What's wrong?”
'… I'm sorry ...'
“I ...” Anabel gasps, before whimpering as her head is racked with a sudden severe pain, coursing through her brain like an intense thunderstorm constantly striking her over and over with lightning bolts.
The metallic balls floating above her hand seem to shake in the single line that they currently hold, before, with another sharp gasp of pain, they shoot off quickly in different directions, a few of the others in the room quickly diving to the ground as they hurtle away.
“Espee? Pee! Espee!” Espeon cries out, her front paws pressing up against her trainer's waist. Her cries fail to get through, though, with Anabel crouching over and placing her other hand on her temple, as the sharp jolting pain continues to surge through her brain.
“Anabel?!” Lucy calls out as she crouches next to her fellow Frontier Brain, gripping onto her shoulders with both her hands. Ripples of energy start to emanate out from the Salon Maiden, as the pulses shake and vibrate the air and ground. “Talk to me.”
“I-I … I … Ah!” Anabel manages to sputter out before another wave of pain crashes through her. In a flash of light from Anabel's belt, a Pokéball pops open with a shiny sparkle, revealing a Gardevoir of an abnormal colour; with aqua blue skin where there would normally be green and orange where there would be red.
“Gardevoir?!” Gardevoir cries out as it appears, before quickly taking its place beside Lucy, placing her hands upon her trainer's temple, the lithe limbs delicately sliding underneath the gloved hands of Anabel. “Gar? Gardevoir?!”
“It just started happening again,” Lucy explains desperately, while all she receives from the Salon Maiden is a shaky nod. Gardevoir then closes her eyes and starts to hum, as a circle of light pink energy radiates out from her.
“It's using Heal Pulse,” Diantha observes as the glowing energy created by the Embrace Pokémon starts to wash over Anabel. Her pained whimpers and gasps quickly fade away as the healing power takes hold, the pulsating pink light slowly fading away. With the last of the energy dispersing, Anabel straightens back up, a small smile on her face as a hand reaches up to cradle one of Gardevoir's.
“Thank you, my friend,” she whispers.
“Voir,” Gardevoir nods, standing upright before gliding behind her trainer. Anabel reaches down to scratch Espeon's ears as the shiny Gardevoir rests her head atop the Salon Maiden's and wraps her arms around her from behind, gaining a slight squeeze from Anabel.
“I'm alright now,” she says, albeit a little shakily, moreso to her Pokémon than to anyone else. However, as she finishes giving both Pokémon a gentle squeeze and scratch, her eyes drop down to meet Lucy's, who's still looking up at her with a worried expression.
“Are you sure?” she presses, ignoring the other eyes on them as she gets a nod from the trainer, along with an affirmative confirmation from both Espeon and Gardevoir. “Do you know what triggered it this time?”
Anabel takes in a deep breath and closes her eyes, before quickly opening them and sharply gazing over towards the tinted window.
“There's someone behind there,” she declares, causing the others to look over to the same place.
With a sigh, Raphael stands up and says, “If you'll excuse me for a moment,” before heading walking across and through the door by the window.
“Is there a problem?” Cynthia puts to the two remaining Elites as the door clicks shut behind Raphael.
“No, not at all,” Sheamus replies with a boisterous laugh. “If I had to guess, I'd say our Champion has finally arrived.”
“I guess Jeanne's preparations are done,” Hikaru muses, shuffling her body round so she is sitting with her back against the seat of the couch and her legs resting on the back.
“Was that the hurdle you were talking about?” Lance quietly asks Scott, leaning over as they keep an eye on Anabel.
“That's part of it,” Scott admits, shifting his legs back flat against the chair to get out of the way of Espeon, having jumped down off of Anabel's lap to collect up the balls that had been sent flying around the room.
“Part of it?” Lance repeats, hoping to press for more, only to be left without an answer as the door opens up again. All eyes in the room head over to the entrance as Raphael walks back in, followed closely behind by another individual.
The person accompanying Raphael has wild shoulder length hair that spikes out at random angles, with a large bang that covers the left side of his face. The right side is partially covered by a wide-brimmed hat tilted down over it, obscuring the eye while still showing off some of the scars, gashes and burns spread across his right cheek and jawline. Draped over his shoulders is a midnight black cloak with a small golden outline, closed up over his chest and stretching down to his knees. Peaking out underneath the cloak is a worn and slightly ripped pair of navy blue pants.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to present our Champion, Aaron,” Raphael introduces, who wordlessly greets the room with a tip of his hat with his right hand, revealing a seemingly sleeveless arm and a fingerless glove with a small round cerulean gem embedded into the back. Anabel almost swears she sees his head shift slightly in her direction while he had his hat tipped, only for it to return upright in the blink of an eye.
“Jeanne's all ready to go?” Sheamus asks, getting another silent response as the Champion nods.
“Well, it is nearly time for the battle to start,” Raphael muses aloud while glancing over to the TV screen, the camera image having switched to the battlefield as the noise of the crowd outside starts to pick up. “Seeing as we've pretty much taken care of everything we need to, why don't you all stick around and watch the battle? There's a private viewing box through that door that we Elites tend to use for challenges here.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Alder accepts, along with the Frontier Brains and Champions, save for Diantha who glances towards her manager. “I guess it can fit in our schedule,” Kathi Lee says after a short beat, having looked through her journal. “But we're leaving if it starts to take too long. You need to get back for a shoot in Lumiose City tomorrow.”
Diantha lets out a little giggle as she gets up, along with the others, and they start to make their way over to the door, with Sheamus opening the door for them. Both Alder and Palmer dart over to the tables to grab some food, both getting a bowl of different flavoured chips, while Lucy grabs a cup of tea for both her and Anabel. Diantha also skips back over to the table and cuts herself a big slice of the chocolate cake sitting there, much to the dismay of her manager, before being joined by Cynthia.
“You guys go ahead,” Scott says, mainly addressing his Frontier Brains as he and Mr Goodshow move over towards Aaron and Raphael instead.
“We've still got a few more details to go over with our host here,” Mr Goodshow explains.
The others all nod as they walk on through. Anabel lags behind at the door, as does Lucy who is keeping an eye on the Salon Maiden, as she pulls out a Pokéball, enlarges it, and starts to aim it at her Gardevoir, only to stop as Gardevoir shakes its head.
“You want to stay out?”
“Voir,” Gardevoir answers with a nod.
“Okay,” she concedes, before minimising the ball and placing it back on her waist.
“Espee,” Espeon pipes up as she comes over, eyes gleaming in a pale blue light as the three metallic balls that were scattered earlier float back up to Anabel, each outlined in the same blue light.
“Thank you, Espeon,” Anabel says with a small smile, taking the balls and pocketing them inside her blazer. As she does, she glances back over her shoulder, spotting Aaron expressionlessly looking in her direction along with Raphael and Scott, the latter giving her a smile and a nod, while Mr Goodshow seems to be caught up on the footage on screen.
'You were the one in my head, right?' Anabel contemplates as her eyes seem to catch with Aaron's, barely seeing his left through the thicket of hair obstructing it. There almost seems to be a slight shimmer flickering in that eye, as their gazes lock onto each other's.
'Why? What do you-?'
“Anabel?” Lucy speaks up, breaking the Salon Maiden out of her thoughts.
With a shake of her head, she lets out a breath before walking out into the spectator box, accepting Lucy's offered cup of tea with a short thanks as they pass through together, with Hikaru the last to leave, sliding the door shut behind her. With that door shut, the door by the window opens back up, with a Pikachu swinging in by the handle. Dropping down, the yellow Mouse Pokémon darts across the floor before climbing up Aaron's back, sitting up on his right shoulder.
“Pika pi,” Pikachu sadly says, his ears drooping down as he glances to the Champion. “Pikachu?”
“Yeah, I'm fine,” Aaron softly answers, giving his partner a nod and a short pat between his ears.
“Pika …”
“Couldn't help yourself, eh Champ?” Raphael sighs.
“She hasn't …?” Aaron inquires, directing it towards Scott.
“No,” he replies with a shake of his head. “Anabel still hasn't regained her memories.”

AN: Well, I wonder who that could be …
So, yeah, part of why I was wanting to write this story was to play around a bit with the concept of Anabel having amnesia, which was brought in in S&M. With some differences, of course.
Now, the next chapter was going to be people - particularly Ash's former companions - finding out if they've been invited to compete in the tournament. That'll still be a chapter, but maybe not the next depending on what you guys want. I'm giving you all the option as to if you want the planned next chapter to be next, or if you'd rather read the battle between the challenger and the other Elite Four member, Jeanne. The challenger was initially going to be between 3 people, but now down to 2. Alder was one of my options, but I decided against it. Otherwise, there would have been a different champion representing Unova. 1 guess as to who that is. So, by all means let me know if you've got a preference.
Also, please feel free to let me know what you think so far. Thoughts, feedback, analysis, predictions, suggestions, all are welcome. I'm happy for people to suggest OCs for contenders in the tournament - I can't promise that they'll last - or even if there's a particular ship you want to see. I make no promises it'll be there, and I'm not budging on 2 ships that will be happening in the story. Beyond that, anything could happen.
I'll try to get the next chapter up as soon as I can. Obviously that'll depend on what's coming next, so, until then, adios!

this isn't even an imagine request but it can be if you want it to be; AU's where dadsona is actually a Fairy Godfather, and not a very good one at that; they resort more to actual fathering than magic most of the time, but one or more of the dads catches them in the act of something they just CAN'T explain away.
((I'm so love for magical au's. How could I not use this bad boy as a prompt?
Decided to give Brian the spotlight on this one, because there’s really not a lot of Brian content. Which is a damn shame! I didn’t enjoy Brian’s route as much as the other dads, because I felt like the competitive streak the route used for the dadsona was more mean-spirited than my own irl competitive streak, but I love Brian as a person! He’s so sweet and gentle and tbh I wish my dad was more like Brian. I have dad envy for Daisy. There. I said it.
A little late on the promised time, but in all fairness to me, I work a late shift at work tonight and had to sleep late so I don’t fall asleep on the production line.
I kind of borrowed the baby teeth thing from the movie Toothless, which I haven’t seen since I was ten or less but had a profound impact on my childhood. I am a grown ass woman, and I still have one of my baby teeth. There was just no adult tooth underneath it, so I have to take extra good care of it. So! If that’s a canon rule for toothfairies/magic, I have a pass to see it!))

Make A Wish
You sighed softly, kicking a bit of sand as you walked down the beach. It was a beautiful afternoon - a spattering of clouds in the sky, but nothing big enough to block the sun’s bright rays for more than a minute. You had been planning to spend the evening at the baseball fields, watching Craig’s girls’ game, but the other team’s coach had called, saying their bus had broken down and asking to reschedule. Craig said the girls were annoyed, but that they would certainly survive the ordeal of waiting two more days to crush the Pine Place Hashbrowns into the dust.
So you found yourself with nothing to do. You had been expecting to give some kind of pep-talk, rally the girl’s spirits when they started to lose, and cheer them on to victory. Now there was no guarantee they would still need your help, if indeed they ever would have.
Your powers were chancey that way. You didn’t know if you were doing the fairy-god type of fathering until your wings popped out. There was always a pull guiding you to where you were needed, and once you found the key element of your newest task, your wings materialized, letting you know you were on the right track. They were sort of a radar, in their own way. And of course, this drew attention from children and the occasional tween, since they were the only ones who could see the wings when they appeared. It had taken you until Amanda lost her last baby tooth to realize that that was the defining factor. Once a kid lost their last baby tooth, they were blind to this bit of magic.
As if on cue, your wings fluttered up, a pale iridescent green with swirling tails that stretched halfway down your calves, just in time to feel a bump to your hip that nearly bowled you over.
An undignified sound escaped your throat as you stumbled, and you looked down at your assailant - an enormous cocoa brown mastiff, with a dusky brown muzzle and ears. She looked up at you with droopy eyes, almost expectant, just waiting for you to do something. Offering your hand, she gave you a sniff and a nuzzle. “So what’s your name, gorgeous?” you asked, taking a knee so you could rub at her face. If this beauty needed a home, you’d be more than happy to provide one, but that didn’t seem quite right. Besides, she was wearing a collar - return her to her home? Except the collar only held a tag that assured a rabies shot, the back of which gave the address for the animal shelter.
But ‘home’ felt right. Looking into the dog’s dark eyes, it struck you, and you smiled. “Can I trust you to follow me?” you asked, taking a step and looking back to indicate that she should.
She looked at you blankly and you sighed. “What if I promise you treats when we get there?”
You took another step and the dog began to follow, and your grin returned. You started heading back to the cul-de-sac, the mastiff at your heels. “Duchess Cordelia? Duchess!”
Glancing back, you noticed a person with dark hair, looking rather out of sorts and clutching a bag of dog treats. It almost looked like-
You shook your head and kept walking. Damien wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a polo shirt.
In any case, they hadn’t seemed to have noticed you, so you kept walking, carefully ducking out of sight of the shelter employee
“The Duchess Cordelia, huh? I think it suits you,” you hummed, grinning at the oversized pup. “Well, Duchess, let’s get you adopted, huh?”
~~~
It was only a short walk back to the cul-de-sac, but you were grateful that working out with Craig seemed to have made it a little easier. Flying would have been easiest, had you not had to worry about being spotted, and carrying two-hundred pounds of dog.
The Duchess, seeming to know better than you what she was doing, trotted right up to Hugo’s door and began fiddling with the knob. She probably would have gotten it open, too, had it not been locked. You’d kind of been hoping Hugo would be home so you could talk him into adopting before the shelter person found their way here, but the loud music blasting from the upper floor said Ernest was probably home, and you would take what you could get. “You’ve got the right idea,” you grinned, brows furrowing nervously. “Normally I’d say ‘a little breaking and entering never hurt anyone, but. Well.” Shaking your head, you lifted your hand, waving her away from the knob, now plastered in drool and mud. Luckily, with a little zap of magic, the door creaked open, and that was all the Duchess needed to get inside.
“MC?”
You jumped, whipping around to spot Brian, looking at you with all the concern one expected of someone who just witnessed one neighbor let a strange dog into another neighbor’s house. “Can I ask why you just-” “Duchess!?”
You groaned, grabbing Brian’s arm and hauling the larger man to the side of the house. When he tried to ask what you were doing again, you shushed him, wings fluttering nervously as you peered around the side of the building. Polo person seemed to note the open door with a groan of their own, moving quickly to the front step and knocking politely before stepping inside. “MC, what is going on?” Brian demanded. You shushed him, peering through the window.
“I’ll explain later. For now, I just need you to trust me,” you added, whispering your plea for patience. You expected Brian to saunter off to call the police, but instead, he sidled up beside you, both of you poking your heads up over the window sill to look in on the scene. The Duchess seemed to have left the sitting room in tact, but she definitely did not like the leash that Polo Person-
“Is that Damien?”
Holy shit, that is Damien.
“... I didn’t know he wore polo shirts.”
She didn’t seem to like the idea of Damien leashing her.
Things were looking cagey; Damien seemed to be trying to reason with the Duchess, until a flash of orange drew your eye, and suddenly, the Duchess blew past Damien, tackling Ernest to the ground and eating a pizza roll from his hand “Sweet success,” you grinned, until you caught sight of your wings out of the corner of your eye. Was there something else-? “So you want to explain to me why you put a stray dog in Hugo’s house and count his son getting tackled as a ‘success’?”
Ah. So there was. “And maybe also the wings?” What.
“I mean, I’m not one to judge, and they look like they’re very high-quality, but I don’t think-” “You can see them?” Brian seemed jarred by your interruption, but even more so by the way the words “Dad can we keep her” (And when did Hugo get home?) made them fold down and vanish off your back.
“I mean- I could? A second ago?” he murmured, bushy brows furrowing in confusion as he leaned back as if to check that they truly were gone.
“It’s… a long story,” you confessed, running a hand through your hair. “Why don’t we… get out of Hugo’s yard? I’ll explain everything.”
The two of you sneaked back out to the sidewalk, a little hand-wave and a whispered spell on your part kept the men on the front step from noticing you, but Hugo seemed thrilled with the situation, excited to have his son call him ‘dad’ again.”
Brian seemed befuddled and a little frustrated, but you walked him back to your house and sat in the lawn chairs in your backyard.
“So, as much as I would love to simplify it down to “I found a home for a dog and a dog for a home”, you being able - to see me, like that… it complicates things.”
“How so?” he asked, drawing your shy gaze. “Seems fairy straightforward to me.” Any other time, that would have made you crack up. Even now it drew a chuckle out of you, but for the most part, you were solemn. “Does it now?” “Well, you did what needed doing, in an odd sense and with an admittedly strange method, but it did seem to work. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Hugo smile like that when talking about Ernest.”
You couldn’t help but smile, glad to have had a hand in your neighbor’s joy.
“I just… this can’t really be real, can it? I mean, that very nearly looked like magic,”
“It was,” you sighed, drawing his eye. “What i don’t understand is how you saw my wings. Only kids ever see them! People lose the ability to see magic when they lose their baby teeth - it’s a representation of childhood innocence thing.”
“I still have a baby tooth. There was no adult tooth underneath, so if that’s the rule… I didn’t exactly break it…” You sighed, taking a long dredge of pop.
“If that’s the case, I’m surprised you haven’t seen anything before. We’re not exactly subtle around adults, since they usually can’t see any magical shenaniganery.”
“Okay. Well, the wings are gone now, so… what’s that about?”
“They become visible when the job starts and vanish when it ends,” you explained, resting your elbows on your legs and folding your hands. “I told you I travel around town for work, and that I worked with kids, both of which are true.”
“You said you were a child psychologist.” “I said no such thing. I told you about my job and let you draw your own conclusions. The actual, official title is Fairy Godparent. The wings are… sort of a radar. When there’s something I can do to help someone who needs it, they become visible and act as a sort of calming aura, to let kids know that they can trust me. Sometimes it’s granting a wish kind of help that they need, for bigger stuff, but most of the time… most of the time, they just need someone to talk to. To tell them it’s going to be alright.” You gave a shrug, summoning a few cans of soda from the garage and offering one to Brian. Who accepted dumbly and looked at the unlit firepit as he absorbed all he’d been told.
“So… Wand? Crown? Magic?”
“The crown and wand are a uniform thing, I only wear them to meetings and evaluations.” “Fairies have meetings and evaluations?” “There are offices, too. Real similar to mortal offices, except everyone has wings,” you chuckled. Sighing softly, you took a sip from your can. He did the same.
He pestered you with questions for the next half an hour; Are there other fairy god parents in Maple Bay? Did Amanda know? Was her other parent a fairy too? How well did being a fairy pay? You answered them dutifully; Yes, we all work in precinct-like sectors, she’s always known, Alex was a mortal, it pays well enough.
“You think the dog is a good plan for Ernest?” he asked finally, after you finally caved and lit a fire to show off a little magic.
“It’ll give him a chance to be responsible, and hopefully give him and Hugo something to bond over,” you hummed, finishing off your can. Brian chuckled, scratching at his beardy cheek with a thoughtful look. “You alright there big guy?”
“I was just thinking…” “Uh oh, that’s worrying.” “Watch it, MC.” “Sorry,” you gave him an apologetic smile. He pouted lightly at you, but it melted into a smile of his own a moment later. “What were you thinking?”
“I probably should’ve figured something magical was going on a lot sooner,” he stated, swirling the last of his soda in the can and watching you out of the corner of his eye. His grin went a little cheeky. “There always was something enchanting about you.”
You would have spit out your soda if you’d had any left. Instead you choked on air, looking at him with wide eyes and red cheeks. You ducked your head, trying to hide your smile.
The stars had begun to dot the twilight sky. You heard a deep ‘boof’ a few houses down, and somehow, in years of performing magic big and small, this was the first time you were the one to be bewitched.
