Character study of Fleur during the Weighing of the Wands in GoF

Fleur sighed, refusing to allow a stranger to ruin such a proud moment. Instead, she pointedly ignored the paunchy photographer whose eyes flitted between the curve of her waist and her face with a hunger that sent a crawling sensation across her skin.

The weight of Madame’s hand on her shoulder steadied her against the mild nausea and reminded her that she was here because of her wit, merit and intelligence, and the upcoming challenges would push them to the very limit.

A thrill of excitement and pride ran through her, which caused her to instinctively straighten her spine, chasing away the last of her disgust at the vile man. After all, she was used to it and had endured far worse behaviour than that of this photographer.

Fleur could pinpoint the moment it started. The instant when she changed from an innocent child to a commodity. The day her body alchemised from a child’s into a woman’s, leaving her mind and emotional world far behind.

She was 12 when her music teacher Monsieur Duchamp, who had often chastised her, told her what a beautiful woman she was becoming with a gaze that gleamed with a hunger that made Fleur burn with a humiliation she couldn’t quite understand. Yet she soon began to see a similar look on the faces of most of the men of her family’s acquaintance, as if they had all suddenly become possessed by the same phantom. A lascivious spirit that made them hold doors open for her and treat her with kindness which was jarring in its falsehood.

She was 12 and a half when a group of older local boys chased her through the village, each begging for a kiss while she ran like a frightened rabbit.

She was 13 when her Arithmancy teacher insisted that she almost seemed naked without her customary rose hair clip, and Fleur found herself pulling up her robes to cover every inch of her exposed flesh. She dropped the class the very next year.

She was 14 when boys her own age began to notice her, and her peers would either show her utter deference or utter and unyielding contempt. Each group did not see beyond her beauty and instead accused her of possessing traits and desires that she knew she did not possess—fostering a particular form of loneliness where she was seen but not for how she actually was.

She was 15 when she began to take pride in her appearance, spending hours admiring how beautiful her eyes were, how her skin was perfect alabaster and how her hair felt like spun silk—reclaiming her beauty for herself.

scorpius malfoy headcanons under the cut because he is, in fact, my oc.

scorpius hyperion malfoy, 17-25, fc: tarjei sandvik moe. cis male / bisexual. son of draco malfoy and astoria greengrass.

grew up hearing about slytherin and had high hopes of being sorted into the house because he already knew most of the common room’s secrets thanks to his parents. ended up being sorted into hufflepuff and spent the first few days a little disappointed until he realized it gave him a chance to figure out his common room’s secrets by himself.

had sort of a reputation upon arriving at hogwarts, only because of his father. slytherins had heard stories about his father from their own families and wanted to befriend him. they quickly realized scorpius wasn’t interested in becoming popular or being perceived as cool.

favorite hogwarts subjects are: care of magical creatures, potions (has a natural talent for it) and astronomy (became invested because of his own name).

least favorite hogwarts subjects: flying (too clumsy for it at first, not into sports), transfiguration.

very family oriented, loves spending time with his family. has a good relationship with his grandmother but can’t stand his grandfather most of the time.

* while i don’t follow canon from the cursed child, i do like the idea of him and albus being best friends and eventually getting together. if that interest you i would love to explore it in depth!

I haven't purchased a HP item in close to a decade - I use the books I already had as doorstops or to prop a laptop up for meetings nowadays.
