“Vote blue 2024, down the ballot”

Don’t make me fucking laugh you silly little goober. Vote blue after all but a few democrats aligned themselves with a genocidal apartheid state and very few up to this point have walked back or edited previous statements approving the ethnic cleansing of Palestine???

The very first time I voted was in 2020 and I did it with full fucking contempt. Not only has nothing improved but everything has gotten worse because you’re senescent lesser of two evils is still just evil and useless on his own.

Half of congress should be beaten with sticks and that was before this past week of current events. How are you gonna mention queer, poc, and women’s rights being under attack and the only way to save them is to “vote blue no matter who” WHEN CONDITIONS FOR ALL THESE GROUPS AND MORE WORSENED UNDER BIDEN.

Roe v. Wade fell. Affirmative Action fell. Legislation demonizing and criminalizing queer and trans people has been passed across the country. The ADA is being undone. Healthcare is inaccessible. Housing is unaffordable. Groceries are too expensive. Public infrastructure is crumbling. The environment is more poisoned than ever. He’s done nothing but go back on promises and do the exact opposite of what the people want from him.

I’d appreciate it if every lib and centrist could just shut tf up and leave people alone because you’re not even helping your own cause.

If your answer to everything wrong with the world and country is to just vote I genuinely want you to tell me how I’m supposed to stand in community with dems and so called socialists after the behavior I’ve seen this past week.

to answer your first question, dear titans in paths, no i fucking don't!! i did check it out again when i did that bingo thing (cringe intensifies) and the last time i posted on there was 6 fucking years ago 😱🤯 full disclosure, i get the urge to delete my account every once in a while, basically anytime i'm reminded of ff.net's existence, but i try not to give in. it's a part of who i was, yk? besides, opening my inbox on there just reminded me of the absolute pleasure it was to get my first ever feedback on my writing so.... yeah. i'm never rereading any of that shit though, i used to be even worse at writing than i am now BIG YIKES

as for the platform itself, the interface was terrible (still is) and imo counter-intuitive to use, so i don't miss that. also the option to read comments (aka reviews on there) directly from your profile would only appear, in RED ITALIC LETTERS DIRECTLY NEXT TO YOUR FIC'S TITLE, if someone left you a review. so in whatever interval of time before someone did, it would be glaringly absent, which always felt like a stab to my lil sensitive writer's heart (i was a teenager, gimme a break 😳). oh, and the search system is subpar, minus one million over ten, never would recommend even to my worst enemy, run for your life and give up trying to find whatever you were after on there shudders

i did love, however, that replies to comments were private and therefore couldn't count as another comment!! which is something i loathe on AO3, because it fucks up the stats and forces me to reply publicly, which i'm not a fan of. plus, it would open a direct, private line of communication between writer/reader, and that was a great way to meet like-minded people, to make friends, to elaborate future fics together, to discuss headcanons... there was a real sense of a writing community, i feel, that might be lacking a little on ao3 (which is why i link all my ao3 fics to here, though it's still not the same).

ao3 is definitely more modern and practical, but sometimes i miss the good ol' ff days. and i don't actually like posting my fics on tumblr, but i feel like i have to so they get what little visibility they can get x)

After the sudden ending of the P.S. genki radio show, I was just holding my breath til some big news came out. It was either going to be a sudden illness or a scandal, and frankly I'm relieved it turned out to be the latter.

Cheating is terrible, yes, but...it is happening everywhere. Don't be naive. Not just in "celebrity world" but yes, in our very own "real world." I can't count how many friends, relatives, coworkers, and their extended circles have been cheated on/the cheater. Did all of them get shamed publicly and lose their jobs over it? No, cuz it's part of their PERSONAL lives. They just kept going to work as usual while dealing with this very *personal* matter on their own *personal* time. This is not a case of murder, violence, r***, etc....it's fuckin cheating, guys. The parties involved will figure out how to proceed with their lives. It is their business. It will be okay.

Not saying I'm not annoyed that it was done rather...boldly, on the radio show or on their trips for the DVDs. I wasn't even a regular listener but the times I did tune in or watch their travels, I was kinda like...HMM this is unusual for a female staff to be so...forward...like, so present...? I remember on Hinocchi and Tachi's kunitori show, their female staff person was there, but she kindaaa kept as low profile as possible and just did her job or answered if they reached out to her. Anyways, it is annoying if the show was/became sort of a vehicle for this affair, but it still has nothing to do with how I feel about his work.

Oh and I'm not buying this, "she didn't know he was married" talk. PLEASE lol. If I dated someone for 10 years, I think it'd get suspicious if we could never go over to his place, or spend major holidays together, or meet his family with me as his significant other. Gimme a break y'all.

I feel a little rambly now but I guess what made me wanna write this was all the comments on Twitter and here on tumblr. A lot feel similarly as I do, but I also saw a lot of comments calling for his roles to be changed, or things on the lines of, "how can I listen to his voice again when it makes me think of what happened," etc....but it's like...CHILL. He's NOT *your* husband!! The one who should be feeling butt hurt enough to not be able to stand his voice is his wife or the mistress. If you don't wanna support people you don't like, then sure go ahead. But I know if I had to go through and check every actor, artist, etc to see if any of them have ever cheated (and let's not even get into more serious offenses like violence, drugs, etc!), then I'd probably have nothing left to watch or listen to.

Anyways. Let me try to bottom line this. I'm just annoyed hearing about people wanting to outcast and recast Sakurai. He is a talented seiyuu. He went through a scandal before in the 2000s, but that was actually related to his actual work, for which he left the spotlight, "repented", etc. Quietly. FOR YEARS. And now this happens in 2022 and here's all this social media to blow it up. I'm pretty annoyed at all the "cancelling" going on in general with other celebrities/personalities, but in this case, such love life issues have nothing to do with these seiyuu's work. Probably just on him as a husband, but that's something that has nothing to do with me or his fans. And it's happened with Noburin , Tattsun... and more I'm sure but these were the only blowups that I was paying attention to as they happened and...yeah it annoyed me. Anyways, it's crazy. Rant over.

I really know how this feels. I am a writer full time. Like not even kidding. I am majoring in creative writing so I need to write ALL THE TIME. So I really know what burnout feels like. That and feeling insecure about writing. For me, if I really know that I need to keep writing, I pump out headcanons. They are easy and simple. Also matchups. But not everyone does those. When I get in a block I really let myself take the break I need. I will refresh my brain by doing something else. You don't want to hate writing, so just put it off for a little bit. You never want something fun to feel like a chore. If you feel burnt out, get some food, drink some water. That's why I'm always telling others to stay hydrated. It is a super important part of my routine and really should be in yours too. lol. Sometimes you can't control your feelings either, so let them come and go. If you feel insecure, just stop comparing and definitely stop writing for a little bit. I hope it helps, it's really hard to explain lol, but overall, just make sure to never overwhelm yourself, keep it soft and simple :)

To answer your question: short form, people suck, lol. I think there's a stunning lack of critical thinking among the general population, probably because of inconsistent schooling. There's a conversation to be had about standardisation globally insofar as this is possible (i.e. language barriers), because the disparity between nations can be whack. (I'm not exactly endorsing standardisation as that has its own pitfalls, but like - there needs to be some sort of benchmark, for fuck sake.) People don't know how to rationalise liking a character that is deeply flawed because they lack the ability to separate that from their own moral code; they think liking a 'bad' character makes them 'bad', very loosely. Also, people just generally suck and like to start fights because it's in our nature to be anarchist fuckwads, etc. Lol, my faith in humanity is shining through!

When suddenly all things are clear and quiet and now the world threatens to come crashing in and you know you're not strong enough to stop it, or even withstand it - but you are no longer alone and you do not have to fight by yourself!!!!!!

I just know I tend to write from emotion, with some flowing descriptions and other times you get exactly zero elaboration or context you are just rawdogging it. I've recently found I was really good at writing a mental breakdown (Misery Loves Company) even though I am itching to rewrite it. I'm good at writing unease, too. Sometimes it's the one (1) specific song that I put to a story that I NEEEEED to loop so I can keep the mental visual going, and sometimes it's just anything that comes up on a nigh-800 song playlist. Lately, the loops have been uhhhhhh "Gimme More" / "The Way I Are" / "Below The Surface". All of which are for separate Darrashposting reasons, funnily enough.

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart? Yeah, any time I had to write an O66 contingency arc or anything closer to canon for TCW. That entire era breaks my heart so I came here to tumblr to make Cheeriverse so I could write things as if people had half a braincell and wouldn't break my poor lil tinker. Specifically writing canonverse about my Seer Jupso Onurimaa and how he refused to answer the prophecy about Yoda's four students becoming pillars of the Order, with half of them being direct hands of decay and the other half in the active fight against it. And how, through his inaction and avoidance, he not only altered the fate of the galaxy itself but unknowingly sent one of his Padawans into the firing line prophecy of the Chosen One. And when he died, he was resurrected by higher beings than the Force, because he had to watch what he had done unfold. Without him, it would have somehow gotten worse.

No you don’t need to have things printed out all the time, but having your information together will really help you when someone’s got it out for you. This week get to know the names of your data storage technicians; they love to help with a good screwing when it’s richly deserved. 

Libra 

Planting your own veggies is all well and good, but you’re not getting any avocados out of that Hass pit for at least three years. Worse yet, they don’t like the cold, meaning if you’re in Hardiness Zone 9, 10, or 11, you’re OK. But we’re betting you have no idea what zone you’re in. This week stop growing weed in your basement and switch to avocado plants instead. 

Scorpio 

Supposedly if you go to sleep thinking, “Tonight I’ll control my dream” you’ll be able to do just that. How cool will it be to live out every fantasy you ever wanted? Be every hero you ever watched on TV. Be the Mad Scientist who beats the good guy and blows up the world. That last one might be a bad idea - if you die in your dream do you die in real life? This week buy a spinner.  

Sagittarius 

It might have been unfair of us, throwing that trivia question at you last week, but at least we gave you the answer. If you’d read the Tumblr post and actually read the whole thing… Including The Hashtags At The Bottom… you might’ve actually seen it. You figured out how to break the ScanTron Answer Key Setting in high school, how could you miss that being right in front of you? This week just accept that your best days were in high school and there’s no going back again.

You’ll be invited to watch a play this weekend, so you better be on your best behavior. You don’t need to wear a three piece suit, but at least wear a long sleeve shirt… and pants! What counts as a fill?

A fill is a new work, not posted before, that fits one of the following categories:

Fanfic: At least 500 words

Fanart: At least a sketch, black&white

Moodboard: Minimum, three images

Gifsets/Icons: 2 gifs/4 icons

Poetry: A pair of haikus or 8 line minimum

Podfics: 5 minutes in length, with author permission or blanket permission

Fanmixes: at least 5 songs, with cover art

Fanvids or Fanedits: at least 30 seconds

What counts as a Bingo? It’s simple: 

Five works in a line in any direction (across, down, diagonal) for a 5x5 board, 4 in a row for a 4x4, etc.

What disqualifies a fill/a Bingo? Not a whole lot, but we are pretty clear about it:

You cannot combine prompts without mod approval.

A prompt must be (at minimum) 500 words (for writers) and at least 5 minutes for podficcers. As the majority of our sign ups fall into these two categories, we’re highlighting these two areas specifically.

Your prompt fill MUST address your prompt. A throw away line or brief mention does not count. 

If you swap or substitute a prompt, you MUST mention what you swapped or substituted. If we cannot figure out what prompt you did and match it to your board during validation, your Bingo is disqualified.

If we spend more time scratching our heads trying to figure out what your prompt is because it’s not labeled, your fill is disqualified.

Swapping/subbing out more than 2 prompts will disqualify you.

Your board theme counts. If your board theme is fluff and you write an angst fill, your fill is disqualified. Hurt/comfort is an acceptable fill.

Further couples are acceptable but the focus MUST be on the main ship you signed up for. If they do not, you have not met the fill.

Not having an actual Bingo (5 fics in a line in any direction for a 5x5 board, 4 in a row for a 4x4, etc).

Not properly filling out the Free Space. Free space is a prompt fill of your choosing, not a gimme.

Not rating your work or providing appropriate content warnings.

Any other rules to be aware of?

Your basic “don’t be a dick” rule applies (no kink shaming, no character/ship bashing, no hate speech, etc) to your fellow bingo players or your mods. Breaking this rule will result in you being banned from the event(s) and any future cards.

You tapped your pen irritably on the document in front of you as you tried to concentrate on your work.

But you couldn’t because Ari was doing fucking pushups across the room from you.

You were decidedly not ok, biting your lips and almost ripping the report you were reading in half. The last thing you needed was for Ari fucking Levinson to figure out that you had a massive tattoo kink. But your brain was starting to go offline as you felt a low throbbing between your thighs.

“Is... is that the only one you have?” You practically moaned, cursing yourself in your mind for giving into your libido.

“No.” Damn that smirk, what a fucking tease. “You wanna see the rest of them?”

“Huh? Right!” You tried not to giggle hysterically as you worked to unbutton your blouse.

Everywhere his eyes raked over your skin left a trail of fire, your skin heating under his gaze as he watched you undress. He whistled between his teeth when you tossed your blouse aside and stood up, his hand reaching out to turn you so he could examine the intricate tree that ran over your ribs and the right side of your back, moving into flowering vines as it trailed down your arm.

“This is extremely impressive, sweetheart.” Ari purred, his fingers tracing over the raised lines of ink on your shoulder. “Who would’ve thought you were hiding all this under those uptight little outfits.”

“Yeah, looks like we’re both full of surprises.” You bit your lip as you turned to him, bringing your own hands up to run over his tattoos. 

His fingers trailed down your torso and over your hip before drawing up the hem of your skirt as he stepped closer to you. A moan escaped your chest as he ran his fingers over the inside of your thigh before brushing against the dampened silk of your panties.

“Shit, honey, you are soaked.” He growled, pressing his fingers to your sodden core as you gasped wantonly. “Come here, baby, let Daddy take care of you.”

“Oh, you want me to call you daddy?” Your voice was husky with desire as you ground against his fingers. “Not gonna fucking happen.”

OH MY GOD. i'm literally obsessed with alexa and everything she writes, so, it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that this one broke MY HEART and then mended it just the same. not only is the storyline absolutely gorgeous, and the dialogue is filled with awkwardness and love, but i adore the way alexa ends this on a flashback that it actually prompted me to end one of my own stories on a flashback because I LOVED IT SO BLOODY MUCH. i never, ever thought to do that, and it was such a freaking gorgeous way to tie her entire story together and i'm just in fucking love with it and, yeah. brilliant. absolutely fricken brilliant.

↳ to wake up in the burrow on christmas in nothing but george’s sweater -- kaylah literally made my dreams come true with this fic and i spent an embarrassing amount of time imagining this to be real and rereading it to feed my feelings. BOOK | Grisha Trilogy (Leigh Bardugo)

Shadow and Bone (2012), Siege and Storm (2013), Ruin and Rising (2014)

I came to this world through the Netflix adaptation SHADOW AND BONE which came out earlier this year, and after, to my huge surprise, falling in love with these stories, I decided I would have to give these books a go as well. I've been aware of the Grishaverse for quite some time now but probably especially since SIX OF CROWS came out in 2016 and tumblr went completely batshit for one (1) Kaz Brekker. I am always kind of wary when it comes to entertainment that tumblr goes nuts for, especially when it is YA fiction, because I do not quite trust the general consensus (I was sorely disappointed by Donna Tartt's THE SECRET HISTORY which I found tremendously boring). So actually, I've been actively avoiding reading this book series until now. But then the Netflix adaptation happened and well—you can blame (or thank) Ben Barnes, because he is pretty much at fault for this alone. Anyway, enough preamble.

I've just recently finished reading the last book of the trilogy and I have to say, I have to my surprise really enjoyed these books! I've also read the short stories THE WITCH OF DUVA after the first book, and THE TAILOR and THE TOO-CLEVER FOX after the second, and will be reading LITTLE KNIFE and THE DEMON IN THE WOOD before I move on to the Crows duology. I am reading the short stories according to publication year and not specific date, so they might not be completely in release order.

Reading SHADOW AND BONE I was very much always thinking back and comparing to the plot of the show since that was my original basis for the story. I am not too fond of first person narratives as I prefer things to be written in third person, but I've found that it did not bother me all that much in these books. What I realised though, was that I liked the show a bit more than the book, because it goes beyond Alina's story and the information a reader gets through her focalisation. We get to see Mal's story instead of only hearing of some of it when he and Alina are finally reunited once she leaves the Little Palace, which to me also made the character a whole lot more likable and interesting than in the books. I've also found that I really enjoyed the integration of the Crows in the show because it made the time leading up to and including the Winter Fete that much more interesting. Generally, I really liked most of the changes they made to the story for the adaptation—Alina scheming to get on the skiff, the Darkling's claw ring instead of the knife, that Alina seems to ride the entire way to Os Alta with the Darkling, the explicit consent given at the Winter Fete, erasing the scar, the fact that Alina and Mal don't kiss during the search of the stag. I would have loved to see some of the early scenes like in the book though, especially Alina and Mal on the way to Kribirsk and nearly getting run over by the Grisha carriages. I am also not entirely sure what I want to think about the change of Morozova's collar. I thought it was super dope that it was actually mended into her collarbone, but I am uncertain about her being able to completely melt it into her body and have it disappear like that. But generally, I really liked this first book. I think it does a pretty good job of establishing the world through Alina's eyes and gearing up the plot of the three novels.

SIEGE AND STORM then, of course, gave me my first look into the Grishaverse that was not completely informed by the adaptation. I was super surprised how quick it became clear to them that the Darkling had survived the events in the Fold and for him to catch up with them. I loved the sequences on the Volkvolny with Sturmhond though. And although I was aware that there was a character called Nikolai in this universe, it took me forever to catch on that he was Sturmhond, and when that reveal came I was very much happily blown away. I am super excited to see that character translated to screen (when, not if, the show finally gets renewed for a second season). I really enjoyed the hunt for Rusalye, the introduction of Tamar and Tolya, and for the role Genya gets to play in that sequence. Also, when first getting into this universe, my immediate first thought was, why don't they just fly over the Fold. Do airborne crafts not exist in this world (yet)? No balloons or something like it? And then of course Sturmhond delivered which definitely helped solidify how much I like his character. I am an incredibly visual person, so I think my favourite bits of this book are all somehow related to how much I would like to see them brought to screen (it's either that, or just how much I want to see Ben and Jessie be brilliant in scenes together). The bond between Alina and the Darkling I really enjoyed a lot and also absolutely the scene in the chapel at the end with him believing that she has finally chosen his side, only for her to then try and kill him with their combined powers and merzost. An absolutely extraordinary scene and if Netflix does not renew this show and I never get to see Ben and Jessie fucking nail this scene, I might just riot.

I had to take a bit of a break in-between books two and three because of uni responsibilities, but I finally got around to reading RUIN AND RISING and finished it two days ago. I am very unsure if I liked the ending or not, but more on that later. I was very glad when they finally got out of the White Cathedral and back to the world above ground, because as cool as this undergound world is, the Apparat creeps me out and so does religious culty stuff. I loved the plotting and scheming though and the fact that Alina can control shadows to some extent. Very cool. Prince Nikolai to the rescue once more was also fantastic and the existence of the Spinning Wheel fascinates me to no end. That I definitely want to see translated on screen. Make me a beautiful observatory to fall in love with, Netflix, make me one! Loved the return of Baghra as well, and generally all of her moments at the Spinning Wheel. The Darkling's attack too was right up my alley, and nichevo'ya!Nikolai? Fucking dope, I love it. This novel especially makes for some great visuals that I can't wait to see on the show. Just gimme, all of it. I liked that the Firebird was not the third amplifier, and I find the idea of Mal being the amplifier instead quite intriguing. What I am not so sure about is the actual ending. I once again really loved the bond scenes between Alina and the Darkling, and I now absolutely see why some fans are upset about him giving up his real name so quickly in the show. I do wonder how that is going to play out eventually. I did like the Darkling's ending—his desperation at Alina losing her power, his plea to her that there will be no grave, and him asking for her to speak his name one last time. And I loved that, as horrible of a person he was, as much gruesome things he did, Alina still understood what drove him and still felt a certain kinship to that, and ultimately did also mourn him in a way. There is this echoing of that line from the show—"we could have had this, all of it"—if only he'd asked, and I absolutely love that. Their dynamic is just incredibly intriguing. The thing I am not sure about is Alina losing her power. Mal coming back to life, yeah okay maybe. The power of the Sun Summoner splitting and finding root in every otkazat'sya in the vicinity, that was amazing. But Alina completely losing her power? I don't know. I am not sure what I want to think about that. I see where it comes from but I don't think I like it.

Overall, I have to say, I really enjoyed this trilogy. I don't think I've read a YA series since the HP one which I grew up with. I am honestly very positively surprised by this fact. I am very excited to read on, especially since summer break has now officially started for me and I actually have the time to read. I know I mentioned some of the short stories in the beginning, but I think I will talk about those separately once I've read them all.

For now all that I can say is, damn you, Ben Barnes, for being this attractive as a bad guy, you alone are to blame that I am falling down this particular rabbit hole. Thanks so much.

Hey there friends and fellow TDC fans! It is the 13th of December, which has special significance for me, so I decided today would be when I reposted my Christmas poem from last year (technically last January, but gimme a break, I wasn’t on Tumblr last December), The Fight Before Skekmas!

It’s cute and has Tavronica in it. What more do you need? Plus, for any word nerds out there, my version’s syllable count matches the real poem’s, line for line. Not sure if I should be proud of that, or sad at what my life has become.

Dreaming of tithes or the nurlocs they’d fed

Tavra sharpened her sword, SkekSa worked on her map

Fara slept on her throne, Baffi curled in her lap

In the Citadel courtyard there arose such a clatter

Tavra darted outside to see whose knees she must shatter

Diving out her window, sword ready for a clash

She landed in the snow, looking noble and brash

The Sisters shone brightly, casting a luminous glow

The paladin looked around, not expecting the blow

A dark figure loomed over; face twisted in a smug leer

Tavra turned ‘round to face her foe, eyes wide, but without fear

In the paladin’s mind things suddenly clicked

This stranger was not one whose ass must be kicked

A snowball in each hand, her red-haired lover was to blame

Tavra stood up from the ground, feeling foolish and ashamed

“Oh, Sifa. Oh, lover. My Far-Dreamer and Vixen!

I do so believe I’ve got revenge that needs fixin’!”

Tavra scooped up some snow, formed it into a ball

The night ended in laughs, with an epic snow-brawl
