Monkey D. Luffy
“You never even treat me like we're together!”
You were at your breaking point, figuratively and literally. In the last three months that you and Luffy had been together, not once did he change the way he acted towards you. It felt as if you were still just Luffy’s nakama. Well today that was all going to change. You had a plan.
It took some convincing, but you finally managed to get Nami and Ussop to help you set up a romantic dinner in the Sunny’s crow’s nest. Two of Luffy’s favorite things, food and you. It was perfect.
With preparations taken care of, you waited patiently for Luffy to arrive. Your aforementioned captain was currently exploring the island you were stopped at. But with the sun starting to set, he'd be back for dinner any minute now.
So you waited.
And waited.
And waited….
You waited till the candles were near burnt out. Waited till the food went ice cold. Waited till your eyes stung from holding back tears.
Monkey D. Luffy had stood you up.
Your own boyfriend.
Slamming the napkin delicately placed across your lap onto the table, you pushed yourself to your feet. Humiliation creeped its way up your neck. Never in your life have you ever felt so worthless.
Holding back hiccups, you dragged yourself out of the crow’s nest and away from the undisturbed meal. What was Nami going to think? All that preparation for nothing. You clenched your hands into tight fists. The next time you see Luffy you swear you were going to-
“y/n!”
You spun on your heel to face the familiar voice. Luffy’s face smiled brightly at you, blinding you more than the moonlight. It was almost enough for you to forgive him. Almost.
“Wait up!”
Scoffing, you glared at his cheery form before turning away from him. All you wanted was a shower, not excuses.
Luffy caught up with your silently seething form with ease, spinning around you like top. He pranced around as if he were a crow and you his shiny treasure. Your name falling from his lips like a mantra.
Try as you might, eventually you gave into his pestering, voice sharp as nails, “What do you want, Luffy?”
Luffy’s grin widened despite your tone, “Sorry I couldn't make it, y/n. There was a festival in town, you should have come. There was an all you can eat buffet, Tra-guy and Jaggy were there too!” He scratched his chin, “Maybe next time you can invite everyone else so we can all eat together again!”
Your eye twitched, “Why would I invite the whole crew to our date?”
“Date?”
You stopped in your tracks, “Yes, date. You know the ones you're supposed to take your girlfriend out on? That kind?”
You could practically see the gears turning in his head at your reply.
“But I have multiple girlfriends?” “WHAT?”
“Ya! You, Robin, Nami,” Luffy used his fingers to count, “Oh, and Vivi!”
You face palmed, “Not “girl” friends, Luffy. A “girlfriend”. Someone who’s more,” You reached for Luffy’s hand, “Special.”
“But all my friends are special,” Luffy pouted, gingerly returning your touch.
Laughing, you shook your head, “I know. But…It's a different type of special. It's when you wanna hold their hand, and you wanna be near them no matter what,” You met his confused gaze, “It's someone you love.”
“Then why would I wanna do that with you?”
“Huh?”
It felt like your body hit a brick wall. Every word ripped from your throat. He was joking right? It was a sick joke but a joke no less.
“I don’t think I love you.”
You blinked in confusion before choking out a response, “T-Thats okay. Sometimes it takes a while to realize you love someone. It's not immediate.”
Luffy hummed, “I'm not sure I even want a “girlfriend”, y/n.”
A nervous laughter erupted from your throat, “Luffy, what are you talking about?” It felt like your heart might leap out of your chest.
“I like how my friends are now. I don't need a “girlfriend”. I have my Nakama. I have you.”
The world suddenly stopped spinning, and only for a moment the ocean quieted and the breeze hushed. Then, as if nothing happened, the world began to turn as normal, leaving behind your hollowed out body.
"...what?"
Cheeky smiled, Luffy repeated his words as if it was only the news, "I don't need a "girlfriend" I have a crew!"
The empty feeling in the pit of your stomach slowly filled with rage. First, he stood you up. Now? Now, he wants to pretend you guys aren't even dating!?
“Luffy, we're dating! What are you talking about? I asked you out almost three months ago!” You snapped, “Why did you even say yes to me if you didn't want a "girlfriend"?”
“I don't know,” He cocked his head to the side, “I just thought you wanted to be closer friends.”
Your eyebrows furrowed in disbelief, “What?”
Luffy shifted in his sandals, clearly uncomfortable, “I thought you wanted to be my “girl” friend, not my “girlfriend”.”
“Are you joking?” Your skin felt red hot as if your whole being was ablaze, “You thought I wanted to be your “girl” friend!? Did it ever once occur to you that friends don't hold each other’s hands!?”
Luffy quickly retracted his hand from your grip, scratching his head in thought, “Not really.”
“Oh my god,” You couldn't tell if you were laughing or crying at this point, “This whole time you never thought we were together? Ever?!”
“I guess we are a bit closer than everyone else,” Luffy’s brows furrowed in thought.
“A bit?” You ran your fingers through your hair, “We spend every waking moment together! I've confided in you, you've confided with me. You know things about me no one else does!”
To his credit, Luffy looked ashamed, “I’m sorry, y/n. I guess…I just never noticed how you really felt.”
You rolled your tear filled eyes, “Obviously.”
“I can try if you want-”
“Forget it, Luffy,” You held your hands up in defeat, “Just forget it. Whatever you thought was going on here is over.”
Luffy grabbed your arm, “What! I don't want that!”
“You don't seem to want a lot of things,” You shrugged his grip off, “Including me.”
“y/n.”
You wiped your face clear of tears.
“We're done, Lu.”

Roronoa Zoro
"Do I need to be a sword just to get a minute of your attention!?"
Three hundred seventy-six, three hundred seventy-seven, three hundred seventy-eight-
“Are you still counting?”
You rolled your eyes, “Yes, mom.”
Zoro ignored your annoyed response, preferring to continue his push ups below you. Huffing, you rested your chin on your hand. He had been going at this for hours now. You were starting to feel nauseous as your form jostled every time Zoro went up and down with you on his back.
“How much longer?”
Zoro grunted, “When I reach two thousand.”
“Two thousand!?”
Your sudden shout made Zoro shoot up quickly, knocking you off balance. Your criss-crossed form easily flew from Zoro’s back to the ground below. You fell hard, slamming your shoulder into the wood floor.
Hissing, you rubbed your now sore arm, “What the hell, Zoro!?”
“Shit.”
The moss head was quick to his feet, offering you a hand, “Dammit, you should've been more careful.”
You snatched his extended hand and scoffed, “I wasn't the one who moved so suddenly.”
Pulling you to your feet, Zoro continued to hold your hand, “I wasn't the one complaining so loudly.”
“I can’t help it. We’ve been here all day,” You played with his larger fingers, “Plus, you promised you'd explore the island with me today.”
You could hear Zoro grumble under his breath before sighing loudly, “Training is more important right now.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, “What, why?"
Your thoughts raced around in your head to find a reason for Zoro's sudden uptightness. You were quick to settle on striking golden eyes and a small dagger. Dracule Mihawk. He and Zoro had put on quite the show only weeks ago.
Rubbing Zoro's palm, you quirked a brow, "Are you still hung up about that Mihawk guy beating you?”
“I'm not hung up.”
You flinched at Zoro’s tone, “You clearly are.”
Quickly dropping your hand, Zoro turned away from you, “Listen it doesn't even matter what you think. You wouldn't understand. You're not a swordsman.”
“I'm not a swordsman but I'm definitely your girlfriend,” you snapped at his back.
“Just because you're my girlfriend doesn't mean you can control my training.”
“Just because you're a swordsman doesn't mean you can just dismiss me.”
The room filled with a silence thick enough to cut with a sword. You thought you might drown on land. Staring into Zoro's rigid back, you tried to manifest any form of response from him.
Finally, after what seemed like eons, Zoro rolled his shoulders and turned to face you. Your breath caught in your throat at his expression. It was dark, almost...menacing. It was a gaze he normally reserved scum marines and enemy pirates alike, but never for you.
“You're the one who's dismissing me!”
A forced laugh erupted from your mouth, “How am I dismissing you, moss head?” You crossed the space between the two of you, “By telling you to take one measly break?”
Zoro’s eyes bore into your own as if trying to find his next words. Grabbing your hand, he placed it on his bare chest, “Do you see this?”
You tensed at the feeling of the scar tissue, Mihawk.
“This...this scar is why I have to be stronger. For the crew. For Luffy,” Zoro squeezed your hand, “For you.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat, “Zoro, I didn't-”
“Maybe we should break up.”
You paused, mouth stuck open in shock, “...what?”
It felt like you had swallowed glass, pins and needles running down your esophagus into your stomach. But the glass still wasn't enough to fill the large pit beginning to form.
Gently, Zoro pushed your hand away from him, “This relationship,” he took a deep breath, “Might be too much of a distraction.”
You never really understood when people said it felt like their heart was being ripped out of their chest. But now? It felt like your whole chest cavity had been removed.
Slowly, hot tears began to cascad down your rosied cheeks, “You think I'm a distraction?”
Zoro paused, his internal conflicted evident on his face, “...yes.”
You clenched your teeth together tightly, “Screw you, Zoro! I can barely get you to pay attention to me when someone even mentions the word “sword” but I'm the distraction?!” You jammed a finger into his chest, avoiding his scar, “If you needed an excuse to break up with me so badly you could've at least chosen a good one!”
“I’m sorry, y/n,” Zoro favored staring at the ground, “But if I want to be the greatest swordsman I can't be with you.” His hand captured the one buried in his chest, "Not yet at least."
You ripped your hand away from him, "If not now, then never." Your eyes searched Zoro's, looking for any sign of regret, "Choose, Zoro."
"Its over, y/n," Massive arms pulled you into a warm hug, "I'm sorry."
Clutching onto him, you sobbed silently. It wasn't fair. Why couldn't he just have both?
"I love you."
“Fuck you.”

Honey (Are You Coming?) Pt. 1 (Ace x Reader)
Summary: Ace travels to a new land and hears about a mysterious person locked away in a tower. So much for staying out of trouble tonight.
Note: GN reader
Word Count: ~3.5k
Rating: SFW
You can read this on my AO3 here!
He landed on a rundown port in a small island. One that didn’t have much to offer in terms of adventure or treasure, which was fine with him. He needed rest and to restock on some supplies before sailing again. The Striker was compact enough to be neatly docked in that tiny port, with Ace making sure to roll up the sail just in case. He could never be too careful when it came to avoiding extra trouble in a new place.
He stepped off the Striker and into the streets of the quiet town. There were a few people out and about, but they all seemed engrossed in their own things. Ace noticed a man with his face worriedly pressed into a notebook, flipping the pages like a madman. A woman walked by with her two children, a boy and a girl, who were whining about having to eat turnips for dinner. An elderly couple was busy complaining about the flowers outside their windowsill.
Ace chuckled and smiled. This was just the perfect place he needed to rest and not worry about any Marines or other issues. He gazed out towards the rest of the town, wondering what sights and views would be offered here.
A marketplace… good. A tavern, awesome! And over there was an inn, and he hummed at the thought of finally resting on a nice bed. But what caught his eye most was the fact there was a large tower connected to a castle that practically oversaw the whole town. Compared to the drab architecture of the this place, that castle was ornate and beautiful. It definitely belonged to someone rich and well-known. Maybe the mayor? He hadn’t even heard of this place before, but it was obvious by the stark difference between decor that whoever was in that castle was important.
He strolled casually into the tavern, swinging open the doors and seating himself by the bartender.
“Rum, please,” Ace asked, and the bartender nodded before handing a fresh mug to Ace. Ace took a sip of it and nodded at the taste before he guzzled it in one gulp. “You got some good drinks here!”
The bartender made a grunt to signify his appreciation. The bartender was busy drying off a mug and Ace glanced around the tavern.
“Don’t get much people here?” He asked, trying to break the ice. The bartender huffed.
“Sometimes. But the men come here on the weekends at night. Used to be bustlin’ over here,” he motioned to the empty tables.
“What happened?”
“Ah, well, long story, boy,” the bartender sighed. Ace held out his empty cup to the bartender, signaling for a refill.
“I got time,” he replied as he gave a toothy grin. The bartender quickly refilled his drink and then handed it back to Ace.
“You ain’t from here, right?”
“Nope. Just stopping by before I go to my next trip,” Ace answered, trying to stay vague.
“Figured. No one ever stays here anymore. We used to be a good trading hub, but that all stopped a long time ago.”
“Never would’ve guessed,” Ace commented. “It’s kinda quiet out there.”
“Of course it is. Everyone just sticks to themselves.” “Is there a reason why?”
“Our mayor decided that after some damn pirates nearly wiped us out to close the ports and break them down. Stay low and quiet,” the bartender had a wistful look in his eyes as he sighed again. “Hardly getting any visitors, and the people have been just trying to live their days out in peace.”
“Pirates, huh?” Ace repeated. Of course, as a pirate, he didn’t exactly have any high ground to look down on another pirate, but there was a certain level of honor that should have remained, he felt. You do what you want, but you don’t try to wipe out an island for fun! He felt grateful he hadn’t revealed his sail.
“Yep. Forgot the names of that crew. But they came in and demanded we hand over some fruit or something we supposedly had. No one knew what they were talking about, but they were deadset on it. Tried to kill us and burn the place down.”
Ace raised a brow.
“A fruit? You mean a Devil Fruit?” The bartender snapped his fingers.
“Yep, that’s it. But that’s all just the stuff of legends. Nobody’s got that kind of thing here.”
“And how would they know it was here anyways?” Ace asked, curious about the story.
“Don’t know about that. I was a younger man at the time, but I heard some of the elders say that the mayor had one or his child did.”
“He has a child?” The bartender nodded somberly.
“Poor thing. After that day, the mayor hid them away in that tower,” he made a gesture to outside. “No one has seen them in years. The mayor doesn’t even allow them to celebrate with us during holidays. We don’t even know if they’re alive still.”
Ace’s eyes widened. “That’s not right, keeping your child locked up like that. That’s dumb!”
“Not our place to say. But the fact no one has heard or seen them probably isn’t a good sign.”
Ace slammed his drink down.
“Has anyone bothered to do anything about it?” He questioned a bit too loudly.
“And what are we supposed to do?” The bartender asked. “Can’t do anything. He guards that tower with extra security and has stated that the castle grounds are off-limits.”
Ace feels the gears in his brain turning, and he calms himself. They seem to hate pirates here, so he can’t get too emotional or be too obvious.
He sighs to himself. It seems that even if there is no trouble, he has to go and make some for himself.
“Well, thanks for answering my questions,” Ace says to ruin the silence.
“Don’t get any ideas, boy,” the bartender replies, seeming to understand what Ace is thinking of. Ace gives an innocent smile and throws a few coins on the table.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
----
Night had quickly fallen on the silent town, and Ace’s eyes glanced at the tower from the window at the inn he had rented for the night. He debated with himself as he slumped on the bed.
A Devil Fruit and a trapped noble’s kid…
Those alone were too enticing. And hearing what the bartender had said about the mayor’s child never leaving or being seen made his blood boil. What was the point of living if you didn’t do anything with it? If you were not able to live, to explore, to go experience freedom?
Lord knows how he’d react if his father ever tried to chain him to his room. He knew he shouldn’t really bother with this- this was something he didn’t need to be a part of. He just needed to lay low for one night. To relax and rest up before he went out sailing. He shouldn’t involve himself in something he knew nothing about.
But the more he kept trying to avoid it, the more the tower called to him, begging him to run towards it. Maybe that poor person was trapped there. Maybe they’d want to be helped and saved from that lonely cage.
He knew better, but he sprung up to a sitting position and put on his trusty orange hat.
Sorry, Pops, I’m gonna need to cause another issue tonight.
The bartender had said there were guards there. Not to mention the fact that this was the mayor’s kid would be an even tougher target to get to. But hey, Ace had to admit, he loved a challenge once in a while. This would be something that could fire him up.
He snuck out of the inn window, careful to avoid making any noise in the area outside. It was almost like the whole town was abandoned with how quiet it was. He put his hands in his pockets and walked towards the well-kept path towards the castle.
He wasn’t going to storm in through the front and cause a panic, so he went to the back of the building and noticed a guard on duty. He picked up a rock and chucked it at a tree near the guard. The guard jumped and held his weapon tight.
“Who’s there?!” He yelled, before heading towards the tree. Ace chuckled as the guard was distracted by the noise and snuck past through the back door.
Ace was impressed with the interior decorations, noticing the gold decor and portraits of historical figures on the walls. His appreciation for inside was cut off when he heard two pairs of feet walking towards him. He quickly hid behind a large tapestry and waited until the two guards passed before running down the hall.
As he made his way towards the left, the hall became narrower, and a large door was at the end. Ace perked up as he noticed the door, and slunk against the wall in order to avoid the guard at the door. This time, however, Ace lunged at the guard and covered his mouth to silence him, before he knocked him out with a quick punch.
Ace rummaged through the guard’s keys to unlock the door and kicked it open. He then tried standing the guard up as best as he could to avoid getting noticed.
Eh, he’ll be up in a bit, right?
Ace shrugged then closed the door behind him as he gazed at the long flight of stairs. Finally, it was time to see what was at the top of the tower. He bolted up the stairs as fast as he could, uncaring about the noise he made.
Before he could knock on the door at the end of the stairs, the door swung open, revealing-
Ace’s eyes widened.
The first thing he noticed about this person was how beautiful they were. Neat (h/c) hair and shining (e/c) eyes. Possibly around his age.
The second thing he noticed was how angry they looked.
“Who dares to- huh?!” The anger fades into shock and they take a step back. “Who the hell are you?!”
Ace smiles dumbly, happy to see that not only is the mayor’s child pretty but… they’re alive.
“You’re real…” he replies, the answer seeming to offend them more. A swift slap on the face is their answer to him, but Ace doesn’t even care.
“Who are you?! How did you get up here?!” They scream.
“The stairs,” he tips his hat up to them in an attempt to be “polite”. “I’m Ace.”
“You’re not from here, I know that much!”
“You’re right. I just stopped by for a night and had to see if you really existed,” Ace responded.
“Well, you got what you wanted, now leave!” They said as they brought out a short butter knife and pointed it at Ace. Ace stuck his hands up to show he was unarmed and not trying to hurt them.
“Hey, easy now. I’m not here to do anything.”
“I find that very hard to believe,” they replied, still keeping the knife pointed at him. “What is it you want?”
“Already told you, I wanted to see if you actually existed.”
“Why? So you can kidnap me? Sell me? Try to use me?” Their hands are shaky, Ace notices. “I-I am not afraid to fight!”
“I’m not here for a fight. What’s your name?”
“And why would I give you my name?”
“Because… I just wanted to meet you. That’s all.”
“‘Ace’, was it? You have some nerve breaking into my room and trying to talk to me like this!”
Ace doesn’t bother to respond and instead walks into their room and takes a seat on the small stool against the wall.
“Nice room,” he comments, before he knocks out against the wall. You drop the knife and run to his side, panicking.
“H-huh?! Did he die? Ace? Ace!” You scream, feeling his face and chest for any sign of life. Ace startles himself awake mid-snore and looks around the room.
“W-what? Oh. Hey. You didn’t tell me your name,” he smiles at you, and you glare and huff at him.
“You are… you are like a…” you pace around the room. “What the hell are you?”
Ace shrugs. “Not anything, really. Just a pirate.”
Your eyes widen and you shake your head.
“No, no, no. I’ve heard about you pirates. Absolutely not. Get out. Now.”
“What’ve you heard?”
“That you all are barbarians and have no remorse for anything! You just do as you please and don’t care about the people you hurt!” You yell. “My father warned me about you guys!”
“Yeah… I can imagine. That’s kinda true,” Ace sighs. “Listen, I think we got off on the wrong foot.”
“This is more than just a wrong foot! You broke into my tower!”
“I didn’t break in! Your guards just… happened to get distracted because of me!” Ace weakly defends. His eyes dart around the room and he notices paintings of the sea. “Hey… that your art?”
You glance at the painting then look back at Ace.
“What of it?”
“They’re great. You have some amazing skills.”
You freeze and weakly put your hands to your sides.
“Those were older paintings. From years ago.”
Ace walks to the wall and places his hand against the art.
“This is so lifelike. It’s like I can feel the water from this,” he says, enamored with the piece.
“I know you didn’t just come here to admire my paintings,” you cut in.
“No, I didn’t. I heard that the mayor had a kid who was never seen for years. Thought I’d confirm if that was true or not,” Ace explains.
“And why do you care so much?” You ask, your suspicions raised about Ace’s true intentions.
“Well, it kinda sucks being cramped in here, right? I wanted to see how you were doing.”
“Well I’m doing fine, thank you very much!” You respond, a bit too quickly and loudly for you and Ace to take seriously.
He looks out at the window from your tower and notices how the paintings match with the view from it.
“It’s got a nice view, I’ll give it that. But nothing beats the real thing,” Ace comments.
You stand still and meekly step towards him.
“Can you tell me something?” You ask.
“Yeah? What’s up?” Ace perks up and gives his full attention to you, an innocent look on his face. It makes your heart race, for some reason.
“What’s out there?” You point to the starry horizon. “I’ve only read about the outside world. Never seen it.”
“Out there?” Ace begins, unsure of where to start. “There's lots of things out there. Different islands, different food, different people. But it’s always different, and it’s yours to see.”
“What kind of islands? I heard there was an island with snakes and only women on it. And one where there is desert as far as the eyes can see,” you absentmindedly say.
“Yep. They exist. I’ve been to lots of them.”
“Let me guess, to ransack?”
Ace chuckles and shakes his head.
“No. I’ve been trying to find information, actually,” Ace’s lips form a small and sad smile.
“Information? On what?”
“There was an old crewmate of mine. He… murdered another crewmate. And for pirates, that’s like the biggest crime any of us can commit. You don’t kill your family.”
You noticed how Ace clenches his fists.
“I didn’t think pirates had a moral code.”
“Some do. Some don’t. All I know is that I follow my instincts and my family. That’s what I believe in, at least,” Ace shrugs.
“And your instincts told you to come here?”
Ace nods.
“Yeah. I’m a pirate, and us pirates treasure our freedom. So hearing you’ve been locked up here sounded like my worst nightmare. I wondered if that was true, and if you wanted an out.”
“An out…?” You repeat. Normally, you would’ve been hesitant to listen to anyone else. Ace was the first person you had met and talked to in a while, and it felt… different. You should’ve been wary and suspicious. You should know that talking to him-hell, him even being here- was bad news.
But Ace spoke to you so honestly and earnestly, you couldn’t help but believe him. You wanted to believe him. He was your only view of the outside world. He’d seen things not even your father saw. You wanted to take a risk and throw caution to the wind. You wanted to know more of the world you’ve so desperately dreamed about and nearly given up on.
Ace was your last hope for that dying dream. And he nods to you.
“Yeah. If you ever wanted to leave. I mean, do you want to leave?”
You stay quiet at his blunt question, then nod.
“I-I’ve thought about it a few times.”
“Heh. A lot of times?” Ace corrects. You chuckle.
“Maybe.”
“Then do you want to join me?” He asks, outstretching his hand to you. You flick your eyes between his hand and his face. His freckled cheeks show no hint of malice or hostility, but the innocence of a young man. Your hand slowly starts to move towards him. The tips of your fingers manage to caress his calloused, and you have a mind to run away with him.
But the sane part of you makes you retract your hand, and you turn away from Ace.
“I'm sorry. I can’t. I… I don’t even know you,” you say, cursing yourself for being so pulled into him. “For all I know, you’re lying about everything to get to me!”
Ace doesn’t look offended at your response, just nodding along with that silly smile on his face.
“No worries. I understand.”
“You do?”
“Yeah. I mean, I guess that was a dumb question to ask you,” he chuckles at himself, rubbing the back of his head. “Tell you what, I’ll do whatever it takes to get you to trust me and see I’m not lying.”
“And how do you propose we do that?” You raise a brow, unconvinced he can do such a thing.
“I’ll bring back souvenirs for you of whatever you want. I’ll prove to you it’s real. And if you don’t wanna go out there, I’ll respect that.”
Your heart races and your eyes widen.
“You’d do that… for me?” You ask.
“Mhm.”
“But… but why? You don’t even know me!”
Ace stands up and walks closer to you.
“I know enough about you to know that you probably want to be free and explore. No one deserves to be locked away for existing.” He takes off his orange hat and places it on your head. “I want you to watch my hat for me. I’ll go get you something and bring it back for you in a few days. I’ll get my hat back then. Got that?”
Your eyes sparkle with what seems to be hope. Hope that for the first time in a long time, something exciting will happen to you. You nod, and adjust his hat on your head.
“I’ll be waiting.”
Ace laughs.
“Good! And hey… you look pretty when you’re happy,” Ace points out.
“What do you-“ you realize as you speak that you have a smile that rivals his. He laughs harder.
“Your smile is so beautiful! I’ll make sure when I get back to make you smile more! Now, come on, tell me what you want.”
You hum to yourself in thought. “Sand. From that desert land.”
“It’s called Alabasta. And sand, that’s it?”
“Yes. Sand. I’ve never felt it.”
“You got it…” he trails off. “What’s your name?”
“(Y/n).”
“(Y/n)…” Ace repeats. “(Y/n), (Y/n), (Y/n). It suits you. Well, wait for me, (Y/n)! I’ll be back! And watch my hat! I love that thing!” He says as he begins to climb the windowsill.
“What are you doing?”
“Leaving, duh!” He replies, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Y-you’ll die if you jump!”
“Nah. Trust me, I have my ways,” he winks at you and waves. “Sweet dreams, (Y/n)!”
He leaps out the window and you gasp in horror. You think he’ll immediately fall to the ground to his death, but instead, he summons a pillar of flame and lands on his feet. You gasp at his power, and he glances up at you from the ground. He waves to you again, a smile on his face that shines even in this darkness. You wave back, unsure if you are dreaming, as Ace runs through the woods, out of your sight.
You collapse onto your bed and remove his hat. You press it against your chest and stare at the ceiling. None of this seems real, but the scent of Ace from his hat reminds you that yes, this is, in fact, very real.
You can’t help but laugh at the irony of this whole situation. But your heart finally feels a bit lighter, hoping that Ace will come back and show you the world from your little tower.
You wonder, briefly, what it must be like to see the outside.

It's not always a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake (Buggy x GN!reader)
Tumblr media
Gif from monikanarnia
Description: Late one night you find Buggy in the kitchen growing increasingly distressed over dessert.
Word count: ~1.2k
A/N: One shot fluff with an established relationship. Gender neutral reader, no use of Y/N, pronouns, or physical descriptions. Based on OPLA buggy. Not beta read. Hope you like this! Let me know if you see any errors or typos. ♡
Warnings: Some light profanity, but that's about it!
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ ✩ ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ ✩ ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ ✩ ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
Lured by the sounds of activity at a time when most of the ship was asleep, you peered into the kitchen and finally found the person you were looking for. Buggy was hunched over the center island, deeply focused on the cake in front of him. He finished spreading the frosting and stepped back to observe his work. The scowl on his face and annoyed muttering were clear signals that he wasn’t satisfied. Despite being an artist, cake decorating was not his usual medium and it showed. Based on the amount of flour on his vest, pants, bandana, and in his hair, baking was also not his forte.
Buggy ran a knife along the top of the cake, attempting to smooth out the white frosting. Instead the sweet coating stuck to the knife and lifted up to expose the bare cake underneath, as if he had wounded the confection. Trying to hold in the anger that wanted to burst from his mouth, Buggy’s fists flew to his head and he turned in place, stomping on the floor. Shouting was guaranteed to wake someone up and Buggy did not need anyone to see the absolute failure in front of him.
His glare flitted between the marred cake and the knife still in his hand before he flung the offending utensil towards the other side of the kitchen. The resounding clang caused him to flinch. He hoped it wasn’t loud enough to attract attention. A few heavy moments later, Buggy sighed and leaned over the cake. From where you were, you couldn’t tell if the weight in his rounded shoulders was from anger or disappointment. But you knew Buggy well enough that he wouldn’t give up yet. And you were right.
With a cautious hand, Buggy began tapping at the lumpy frosting, nudging it into place. His gentle, feather-light touches showed a level of restraint and artistry that could only rival Michaelangelo chipping away marble, intent at bringing out the beauty only his fingertips could find. Finally satisfied with the coverage, Buggy assessed his work again. Despite being slightly worse than it was before the frosting incident, he was afraid of making an irreparable mistake. There wasn’t any more flour or sugar left in the kitchen. This wasn’t the first cake he baked. Or the second. But this was the first one that was fluffy and edible. Maybe if he decorated the cake with other things, the streaky, lumpy, crumby coating wouldn’t stand out as much.
Buggy stalked around the kitchen, rummaging in the cabinets and digging through drawers, looking for ingredients that were worthy of garnishing his confection composition. His frustration grew with each cabinet and drawer he opened and slammed shut. When he finally ripped open the fridge door he was greeted with the perfect gems, signaling the end of his kitchen treasure hunt. His greedy pirate hands pulled out some ruby red cherries. Buggy gave them a quick rinse in the sink and popped one in his mouth, finding satisfaction in the sharp snap and sweet juice from the ripe fruit.
Moments later, the fruit adorned the top perimeter of the cake, each one nested carefully into the frosting. Buggy stared thoughtfully at the cake as he fiddled with the last cherry, lightly rolling it on the table with his finger. With an air of hesitation, he placed the red orb in the center of the cake. No one else would second guess the placement, but the pirate clown was overly sensitive about anything that could be mocking the one feature he had trouble accepting about himself. A feature that you never shied away from. If anything, you adored it. And while he couldn’t love his own nose, knowing you did filled him with warmth. You always brought brightness and sunshine to his dark and twisted world.
As you watched Buggy stare at the finished product with an expression you couldn’t see clearly, your interest got the better of you. The kitchen door released a tattling creak when you tried to gain a better view of the kitchen show. Thankfully Buggy did not have his knives on hand, but the glare he threw at the entrance was sharp enough to sting. His face softened when he realized it was you, before hardening back into a scowl that was equal parts annoyed at being interrupted and embarrassed that you found him.
“You’re not supposed to be here,” he chided, sending his hands over to push you out and close the door. Anticipating that he would do that, you ducked the flying appendages and slipped inside.
“I could say the same about you.” Buggy knew your comment was true. Despite being the captain, the kitchen was not his usual scene. “What are you up to anyways?”
Despite the innocent tone behind your question, the twinkling in your eyes told Buggy that you already knew the answer. You walked closer and looked at the cake, missing the wince that flashed on Buggy’s face. It looked alright, but it was not at all like he envisioned.
“It looks good. The cherries were a great idea,” you said in earnest.
“Don’t lie,” Buggy snipped. Agitation bristled in his body, feeling scratchy and uncomfortable. Every muscle was fighting the impulse to throw out the cake and act like he hadn’t wasted hours creating something so far below his usual standards.
“It’s awful! A disgrace! The shitty frosting isn’t smooth and it’s full of crumbs. It’s too sweet and I used all the sugar so I can’t make more.” The tirade increased in pitch as he continued, the tension in his body constricting his throat. The frown on your face slowed his monologue.
“Are you serious? This looks like one of those cakes you buy at a high end patisserie in the fancy part of town. People pay a lot of money for rustic cakes and fresh fruit.” Flattery was always guaranteed to uplift Buggy when he was in a bad mood, but these were genuine compliments that you shared with such conviction and admiration. A flush crept across Buggy’s face and tickled his ears at the intensity and sincerity of your praise.
“O-of course! I knew that, I just wasn’t sure if it was your style.” Yeah, sure, that’s what he actually meant.
“So it’s for me?”
“Who else would I do this for?” He responded quickly, since you already knew the cake was yours.
“I was going to give it to you later, but you ruined the surprise,” Buggy continued, rolling his eyes in mock annoyance. He slid the cake towards you and finished with a surprisingly gentle, “happy birthday.”
Although he was supposed to be showering you with gifts on your birthday, the radiant smile you gave was definitely a gift to him. He couldn’t tell if he wanted to look away from the brightness or continue staring into the sun, in awe of the radiance.
“Thank you, I love it,” you said, the words heavy with appreciation. Buggy watched as you plucked the cherry from the center of the cake and popped it into your mouth with a wink, feeling as though his heart was replaced with a bumbling moth, fluttering everywhere and bumping into everything. It was probably drawn to your brilliance, just as he was.

HI NINA!! I hope ur doing well, for some reason I never realized your requests are open but ive had this little idea with me for a while and I would really like to see it written ;))
can I request law × reader whos like a spirit or ghost kind of?? But only law can see them for some reason. Also reader is not dead hh they might be a spirit because of a curse or something maybe...
maybe a little angsty (or very)?? Either way, I can't wait to see what you write :)) i love ur work sossoooo much and thank uu!!
A/N: HIIIIIIII I had a lot of fun with this idea actually I DO HOPE YOU ENJOY!! Angst really gets me in my feels and I kinda left it to the possibility of a p2 if anyone ever wanted it :'))) Pairing: Law x reader CW: None really just angst towards the end WC: 2k
You sighed to yourself. Another pirate had arrived, their purpose unclear- were they here for treasure? A place to rest? Or to investigate the rumors of the haunted building? Said building is being haunted by you, of course. You hadn’t intended for the place to become a spectacle that would send even the toughest pirates screaming for their mothers, but the curse condemning you to the spirit world left you with little control over this, so you had to make the most out of it, right? You gave up hope long ago that you would be able to be freed from the clutches of curse. You wandered city to city. You even stowed away on pirate ships to go to different islands, desperate to find a miracle that would help, but that all got tiring and soon enough you called the building you resided in your new home.
From the rafters, you peered down at the interesting pirate that had just entered. He sported a spotted hat, matching pants, and a halfway unbuttoned dress shirt that revealed one of the many heart themed tattoos adorning his skin.
His voice filled the room, muttering about the rumors of the haunted building, and frustration surged within you. This intruder had disrupted your quiet evening, prompting you to cut his visit short and scare him off. You swung off the rafters and landed on a cabinet with an open door, slamming it shut with a great deal of force.
The metallic sound of a sword unsheathing sliced through the air as the man focused on the source of the disturbance. His eyes locked onto yours, momentarily causing panic through you. Could he truly see you? You questioned the possibility for a moment, but rationalized that he was only looking in your general direction rather than directly at you.
“Who are you?” He asked, his voice demanding.
A shiver ran down your spine as the weight of his gaze fell upon you. ‘Impossible,’ you thought, ‘there’s no way he’s talking to me.’
“I suggest you answer my question before you regret it,” he stated, a blue orb materializing in an outstretched hand.
Disbelief filled your senses as you responded. “Wait, wait, wait… hold on… you can see me?” you stammered, trying to understand the reality that is unfolding before your eyes.
“Quit playing games; of course I can see you,” he replied, his voice unwavering.
You stumbled over your words as you tried to satiate his demands, “I’m sorry, it’s just… well, you’re the first person that’s seen me like this.”
Law grew impatient, and with a quick motion, he enclosed you in the blue bubble of his room, slashing at you. Yet, that was a futile effort as the force passed through you without a trace. Frustration bubbled within him as he attempted again and again, the uselessness of his efforts quickly settling in.
“What the hell is the meaning of this?” He finally snapped, his voice filled with irritation and subtle curiosity.
“Let me explain!” you pleaded, taking the opportunity to share your story. “I’ve been like this for a while and I think I’m a ghost? I can’t really tell.”
"A ghost? Really?" Law sighed, his skepticism obvious. "Okay, whatever, go on."
A sigh of relief escaped you as you continued your story. The tale of encountering a curse, the passage of time, and the unexplainable circumstances that left you in this state spilled from your lips. However, Law rolled his eyes and cut you off.
"I don't know what kind of fun you gain from telling this story to people, but it's not going to work on me," he declared, moving to leave the building, his patience gone.
Desperation filled you as you chased after him in a plea to be heard. "Wait! Please! I promise I am not making this up."
"Yeah, yeah, go find some other oblivious person to fool," he retorted, rounding a corner, making his exit.
You positioned yourself in his path. "Wait! Give me a chance! Don't leave yet!" Your desperate voice rang out.
He rolled his eyes at you, "would you shut up and leave me alone?" he barked back, the force of his words drawing the attention of passersby. Some stopped  in their tracks, casting curious glances your way, while others continued their journey with judgment evident in their glances.
He looked around, noticing the stares. "Look, now you're bringing attention to us," he said, irritation dripping from his features.
The whispers of the crowd filled his ears, 'Us?' 'Is he okay?' 'Why is he talking to the air?'
A sense of unease settled over Law as the judgmental murmurs were made clear to him. Clenching his jaw to hold off a retort, he shot you a silent look that said, 'Follow me,' before walking away.
Back inside the building, the door barely closed when Law spoke up, his tone unchanged, "So, a ghost, you say?"
You sighed in relief at the opportunity to explain. "I… I mean, I think so? A ghost or a spirit, or any other synonym would probably be my best guess."
"Your best guess? Do you not know what happened to you?"
"No! I really don't," you admitted with a sigh. "All I know is that one day, I messed with some people that I shouldn't have, and well… I'm like this now."
His face remained expressionless, a calculating gaze fixed upon you. The silence stretched, and you couldn't bear it any longer. A nervous chuckle escaped you. "So, uh, I guess I have to properly introduce myself to the first human I've spoken to in a while, huh." You extended your hand for a shake, revealing your name. Law hesitated for a moment before reaching out. His hand enveloped yours for just a moment, then phased right through.
You nervously laughed again, retracting your hand at the failed handshake. "Ah, I'm sorry about that. I don't know why I thought that would work."
"But you were able to slam that cabinet just fine earlier?" Law questioned.
"Will you kill me if I say I'm not sure why?" you replied sheepishly.
"How would I kill you when you're practically dead?" Law retorted, his deadpan delivery drawing a smile from you.
“Not dead, just cursed.” you correct him. “I don’t see much of a difference.”
Your laughter filled the building, a sound that seemed out of place, but it certainly felt good. It was the first time in a long long while since you genuinely laughed and had fun. Law didn’t seem to share your amusement, though. He eyed you with a raised eyebrow. As your laughter dissipated into chuckles, you felt a warmth inside of you.
“Laughing, huh? You sure you’re not trying to trick me?” Law asked, still seemingly skeptical about this whole situation.
Your smile quickly turned into a frown at his doubts. “What? No, I just…” you start but trail off, seemingly unable to form any words.
An awkward pause fell between the two of you. He just couldn’t understand your predicament. Law is the first to break the silence. “Maybe it’s time for you to get out of here and try and find a way to get back to your old self.”
“You don’t get it,” you said quietly, your voice filled with despair. “I can’t just do that. I’ve tried, trust me. For years I’ve tried, but I'm tied to this life.” For a moment, Law's doubts faded as he saw the desperation in your eyes, and he decided to give you a chance. He walked over to the nearest wall and sat on the floor, leaning against it. He saw your confusion and he gestured to the floor in front of him, nonchalantly saying, “I have a feeling that you have quite the story to tell me, so go on.
- - -
As the night deepened, the two of you found yourselves engaged in an unexpectedly long conversation. You opened up more about your predicament, telling Law every detail you could about the curse, telling him about your human life, your past, and even your fears. He opened up to you as well. You learned that he was the captain of a crew, that he was a former warlord, and he even showed you his tattoos.
The light of the moon filtered through the dusty windows, and the conversation flowed into more lighthearted topics. You learned that you had much more in common with him than you originally had thought. You even learned about some of his quirks such as his distaste for bread.
As the first rays of sunlight slowly started to replace the moonlight, you two found yourselves in an odd state of comfort. The two of you talked throughout the night and not once have you run out of things to say.
“I’ll help you break the curse,” Law declared, his words causing a momentary pause in your thoughts. Your eyes widened in disbelief and gratitude. Unable to contain yourself, you impulsively find yourself throwing yourself at Law, wrapping your arms around him in a tight hug.
The world stood still as you held the hug, and Law could only widen his eyes in shock at the feeling of the touch. Then the realization hit you– your arms were wrapped around him. You were actually hugging him. Embarrassment soon washed over you as you became aware of the awkwardness of the situation. You pulled away abruptly, your features emanating embarrassment, and you cleared your throat.
A pause fell over the two of you as both of you tried to grapple with the reality of the uncharted territory of physical contact. “Uh, sorry about that,” you mumbled sheepishly.
Law nodded in understanding, though he still seemed taken aback. “No harm done, right? Let’s focus on breaking that curse.” He looked out of the window as he finished his sentence and his voice filled with urgency as he realized the time. “I have to go now,” he explained, regret in his voice. “But, I’ll be back tonight. I will help you figure this out.” Through the sudden disappointment, you nodded in understanding. “Thank you,” you whispered.
Law nodded at you before making his exit. He left you alone, and the quietness that you were oh so familiar with. You eagerly awaited his return, and as the night came about, you stared out the windows looking for any sign of him, but to no avail. You occupied your mind with feeble excuses, convincing yourself that he might just be running late and that he will come for you. But as the night turned into days, that wait stretched agonizingly long and uncertain.
Morning after morning, you wandered the island, hoping to find some sign of Law, just to be filled with a growing sense of abandonment instead.  You questioned every bit of Law’s promise, wondering if you had just gone insane and made up that conversation to make yourself feel a little less lonely. The desolation you felt before was nothing to this new crushing weight of shattered hope.
The loneliness settled in, and with every sunset that passed, your hope vanished further. That is, until you were searching the island for him, and you saw fresh wanted posters plastered across the walls. There he was. Law’s face was among them. The realization that he was not even around anymore hit you like a truck. He went off to do other better things rather than fulfilling some stupid promise with someone he just met. The memory of your interaction replayed in your mind, the hug lingering in your mind more than you’d like to admit.
In a moment of frustration and despair, you tore the wanted poster off the wall, startling those who were nearby. Tears flowed freely as Law's absence filled you with despair. His presence had filled a hole you hadn't even realized existed, and now that he was gone, that hole seemed even bigger than before. Now you were left with the dreaded thought that you may never truly break this curse.

Can I request a Hunter or Anakin (you can choose) fic, where they walk in on the reader practicing a dance?
If you need a song for the dance, I got you:
Hello!
Of course I can! I hope you like it! <3
[Hunter x gn!reader]: I had no idea you could dance
----
Tumblr media
----
Summary:
After a long mission, the Bad Batch go back to Pabu to rest. Hunter can't wait to see you again, but he was surprised when he walked in on you dancing to a song.
WARNINGS: None, really. Fluff, established relationship, soft and flustered Hunter. A bit short but I hope you like it!
Requested by: @kombatkid
Enjoy!
----
"We're finally back!" Wrecked excitedly said.
Tech pushed his goggles.
"We know, it was unnecessary of you to tell us because we are also going back to Pabu." Tech implied, rolling his eyes.
"Hey! Party crusher!" Wrecker complained.
"I am simply stating a fact." Tech responded.
Hunter sighed.
"Will you two stop it?" He asked, pinching the bridge of his nose. The only thing the clone wanted was to arrive at Pabu, hug you, and spend some nice quality time with you.
It was the only thing he wished for in that moment.
----
Upon arriving, Hunter suspected you'd be waiting for him at your shared apartment in the upper part of the island. He breathed in the smell of the salty water that surrounded the isle. It usually gave him sensory overload, especially when it stormed. But seeing as it was a sunny and radiant day, it wouldn't really affect him much.
After Shep welcomed them again, Tech and Phee decided to leave the latest treasure caught in the Archium, while Omega and Wrecker headed down for a race. 'The one who loses has to swim in Pabu water at night!' Omega had yelled, before Wrecker and her starting heading to the shop that sold the closest thing to Mantell mix.
Meanwhile, Hunter walked towards your apartment. He heard a very small amount on music coming from the small cottage, but he figured it could be because you were cleaning, or singing it, or just listening to it.
Upon entering the apartment, his hearing perked up at the significantly loud sound of a hip-hop tune.
He left his stuff at the counter on the kitchen, and walked towards your shared room.
"Cyar'ika?" He asked.
He figured the music was too loud for you to hear him, so he decided to knock on the door.
However, it was open, and Hunter's jaw dropped at the sight. He stared at you through a small gap between the wall and the door.
You, dancing. And not just dancing, but giving everything you had into the song.
He stared at you, gulping loudly as your body; your soul, moved the way the song wanted to.
Your legs were doing an amazing job at keeping up with the music, almost always leaving the ground to jump or slide.
So were your arms, that swayed alongside the beat. And so was your torso, connecting both legs and arms. Your body itself was responsive to the music, and it looked almost natural.
Since when we're you able to dance like that?
Hunter stared, his face turning a shade of pink at the sight. You had been together for around 4 months, and yet he had never seen you dancing. He was so surprised, his arms dangled as if he was hypnotized.
He accidentally opened the door, and mentally slapped himself for doing so. Great: now he would be seen as a stalker if you found out about him staring at you while you danced.
You suddenly stopped, eyes widened. You turned off the music. "Uh...hi." You whispered.
Hunter took a deep breath, trying to make his heartbeat stop beating so fast.
"Hey." He said, with a flustered smile.
"How long have you been here?" You asked, your cheeks red.
"Enough time to realise that you're an awesome dancer." He responded, scratching the back of his neck.
"I thought you would be back later today. You're early." You responded, changing the subject, your face still red.
Hunter let out a playful huff.
"Don't ignore my compliment." He replied, walking to your room, wrapping his arms around you as he smirked.
"I'm not an awesome dancer. I'm just a good one." You shrugged off.
"Liar. But I'll take it." Hunter replied. "But really, you never told me you could dance. I didn't think you even liked it." He said.
"Its just a hobby. But now that you've interrupted me, I won't practice for like a whole year." You replied.
Hunter smiled.
"Pretty please?"
"No."
He chuckled softly.
"Well, one year will have to do then." He said, shaking his head.
You smiled back, the heat dying down.
"Oh, shut it, you."
----
I hope you like it since it's my first request and I don't know how it went ;-;
Reblogs, shares and comments are highly appreciated <3

Even More Heartbreak (Black Pearl Cookie)
Never know what you got until it’s gone
They told you it was a bad idea to venture into the Black Pearl Islands, what with the many dangers that lurked there. You should be counting your stars that you were able to return home as many times as you did, the seas are not forgiving to foolish cookies who try their luck time and time again.
You paid them no mind, bringing your most valued and treasured items, you sailed back onto the waters. A couple of months ago, you had laid eyes on just the most beautiful mermaid you’ve seen, she was quite the large mermaid, but it did little to halt her beauty.
It…mesmerized you, it made you return to that spot in the islands where you saw her, with various items you held dear with great sentimental, gently placing them into the water, hoping this would get her attention!
It didn’t, of course. But this time you were sure of it with this shining pearl you found while exploring. You made sure to clean it proper, maintain its condition, the thoughts of that mermaid in your head in the meantime. This would be your greatest proclamation of love to the mermaid yet!
Tumblr media
The weather was harsh, but you pushed through it! You had to see her again. This pearl was sure to get her attention, it was worth trying at the very least.
At last, you made it to the spot where you had originally seen her all those months, you picked up the pearl and gave it one last hug before you gently placed it in the water and watched it sink below the depths.
And now you waited, twiddling your thumbs in anticipation.
You waited
And waited
And waited
Aaaand waited…
You sigh in slight disappointment, guess not even a Pearl could catch the mermaid’s attention, oh well, perhaps next time.
However, right when you were started to sail back, you heard and felt something breach water in front of you, you looked up to meet the glowing, blue eyes looking back at you.
Tumblr media
It…it was her! The mermaid! She actually appeared this time. Ah, you weren’t expecting this after many attempts of nothing, you quickly pulled out a note from your pocket, containing a message filled with nothing but admiration for the mermaid as you spoke your heart out.
You knew it was a love at first sight thing, but your heart was sure of what it wanted, so you gave it your all as you read out your message.
It began with a mermaid, who’s beauty refused to degrade. I saw your magnificent fins and tail, my heart so strong betraying the body so frail. Never gave up that you were just a myth, because my feelings decided you’re the one I want to be with. I know it by heart that it is true, I wish to say…that I lo-
The sudden bout of laughter brought you out of your reading, Black Pearl Cookie was struggling to contain her laughing as she wiped a metaphorical tear from her eye.
“This..is..PRECIOUS! HA HA HA! It was adorable watching you come back here time and time again, dropping RUBBISH into the sea, hopeful to get my attention? I was thinking of crumbling you into soggy bits this time around, but considering you brought a pearl, something worth more then LIVES, I’ll let you off one last time. But let me make this clear, you’re CRUMBS if you come back here…”
B-but..
Giving no time for your response, Black Pearl slammed her tail into the water, sending a wave that pushed your ship backwards, sending you to the ground. Not before a pile was hurled onto your deck, it was all the stuff you gifted her the many visits prior.
“And take your trash back!”
You paid it no attention, you were just…gazing up at the cloudy sky, reflecting on what just happened. You were happy that she finally arrived, only for that to quickly be turned to smush.
You reflected on the many times you came here, was she..avoiding them on purpose? Toying with your hope? You wonder if she laughed at the items you sent downwards. Perhaps it was a rather dumb thing to chase after a mermaid you only caught a glimpse of…
The skies were clear, the sun shining down on you as your ship made it out of the islands. You got up and made to your steering wheel, the republic harbor ahead.
Tumblr media
You docked your ship as you stumbled out of your ship, making your way off the harbor, a hand to your head as you walked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Made it back in one piece again, Y/N Cookie? The sea favors you once more!”
“Hey, come on now. Just look at ‘em! Lookin’ more..mopey?”
You paid them no mind as you head into the Lower City bar, ordered a round of seawater juice. You took your swigs as you looked down, still in thought. Maybe your heart wasn’t meant to be in the seas’ hands..and the gravity that you made it out alive multiple times started to set in.
The Duskgloom Sea, a place where cookies and shops before you had fallen, and you survived multiple visits there! Yeesh, you were really playing with your life there, eh?
Tumblr media
“It’s good you made it back here as many times as you did, other cookies are not so lucky..”
Captain Caviar Cookie?
“You looked troubled, you wanna get it off your chest? It ain’t good to keep things bottled up.
He took the seat next to you and patted his knee, a nonverbal saying to give him the details.
So you did…you told him your many months of chasing after a mermaid, your heart and mind dumbed down by your love for her, the cold reality hitting you when the mermaid ruthlessly rejected your love…
“Aye…the sea can be a cruel mistress, Y/N Cookie. But don’t let a rotten apple ruin the whole barrel, there’s still plenty of cookies that will like ya back. Don’t let this..mermaid make you think otherwise…”
Yeah..he was right! You can’t let this one drawback get in the way of possibly finding the one for you! You shook his hand and thanked him as you stood up and took a deep breath, a long exhale followed.
It was time to start anew!
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
A month later, Black Pearl was still giggling at the events of last month. She was underwater, waiting for the moment you would arrive. She will admit, that pearl you gave her was pretty shiny and warm, so she’ll allow you to make a joke of yourself once more.
But as time went on, she grew impatient, where were you? You were usually on time with each visit, so you not arriving raised eyebrows. She needed her laugh today, so where were you?
She shrugged it off and swam away. Fine, guess she’ll have to wait next time for you to show up. She returned to her lair of sunken and destroyed ships, the pearl you gave her sat at the top of the pile, shining bright as ever.
As she swam by, she failed to notice that the pearl’s shine dimmed a little.
————————————————————————
During that month, you were actually getting back into the swing of things with the help of Captain Caviar Cookie. With the mermaid no longer being all you pondered about, you could actually get things you’d been wanting to do done! You fixed up and upgraded your ship, brought in hauls that netted you major coin, and you found friends in the Salty Shark crew.
“They’re really comin’ around from a month ago, aren’t they?”
“Yep, seems like nothing can bring them down now! Hey look, they’re trying to arm wrestle Captain Caviar!”
“No offense to them, but the captain has got this for sure!”
You were still patching up from that meeting, but you can say you were making improvements! Let’s see what next month had to offer!
————————————————————————
Many more months went by, and Black Pearl Cookie grew more and more irritated. Where was that cookie?! One month was fine, two she was willing to brush off, but many months without visiting?!
No matter how hard she says she doesn’t care, it was pretty obvious BP was getting bothered by your multiple absences-NO!
She was NOT bothered.
She returned to her lair and only then did she notice the pearl was getting dim. She had to swim closer to see if she was hallucinating, but no, the pearl IS getting dimmer.
She held it close to her, what was wrong with it? Why was it not shining as bright as it used to be?
It couldn’t be….
————————————————————————
You came home and laid down on your couch with a content sigh. You had just arrived after a wonderful date with a cookie you’ve been seeing, her ideas of dates were a bit..odd, but you loved her none the same, not even her job as a gravedigger swayed you!

You never thought that you’d find the one again after that fateful day many months prior, but when you met Seaweed Cookie, those doubts were put away. You felt like you were able to love again, she accepted your gifts with a kiss on the cheek, and you helped her with her job, never once judging her for it and she appreciated that…
You looked out the window towards the sea as you sighed with a smile. You thanked the sea for the adventures it gave you and the opportunity it presented. You never held ill will against the mermaid for what she did, after all, you were just a cookie.
You hoped she does alright, wherever she was.
————————————————————————
“Y/N COOKIE!!!!”
That moment when the pearl had lost the last remaining shine…
Black Pearl Cookie…
SNAPPED!!!
The feeling overcame her, the warmth of the pearl now left her cold…
“GRRRRRRRR!!”
Tantrums were abound, she started annihilating what was left of the ships in her lair. She created large enough waves to completely overwhelm small islands, the weather was in her favor with lightning and heavy rain.
Once all the anger was out, she would fall into a crying fit, the tears genuine. It just felt so cold…the pearl’s spark having long since gone out…
She finally understood what it meant…
You loved her….
Love…..
Love…she threw away….
She lost it again and flew into another rage, not at you, but at herself as she screamed out your name in anguish.
Ships sailing into this sea were destroyed near instantaneously, no mercy for any crew members onboard.
One cookie was hanging onto dear life on a single wooden board until they were grabbed and was staring at the anger, tear-filled eyes of Black Pearl Cookie.
“Answer my question and I’ll consider letting you live to see dry land…”
“Where….did you come from…?”
————————————————————————
After a long day, you finally decided to hit the hay and went to bed. You tucked yourself in and began to doze off.
You had another great day tomorrow, you were going to see your Salty Shark pals and then spend time your girlfriend. Could even visit the…Upper…City?
Wait…
……
……
was that giggling in the distance?

From the ttte movies you seen, whats your fav?
✨THE GREAT RACE✨
The Great Race is THE BEST ONE! I may not have seen most of the other movies yet, but I'm very sure NOTHING is ever gonna beat this movie for me.
You're telling me they made a Thomas movie centered around what is basically a Train Pageant (tm) AND they made it a MUSICAL!!??? Hell yeah! Sign me up!
But then you actually get in to the movie and it gets even better.
EVERY SONG IS A BOP! EVERY! 👏 SINGLE! 👏ONE! 👏 THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE MISS IN THIS MOVIE! I don't know what they were on, but they were pumping out JAM after JAM!
Secondly, I think the Great Railway Show was a great way to introduce more foreign engines into the show in a way that made sense. Pity that we didn't really get to see much of them. But I also feel like we didn't really need to. I mainly just liked that we got to SEE them.
One of the things I LOVE about Brenner Era CGI Thomas is how the world of Sodor feels so much bigger. In the model series I get this sense that the Island of Sodor is this quaint little English countryside island where nothing much happens, and the engine's shenanigans are the most interesting things to happen in day-to-day life. Whereas I feel like in Brenner Era CGI Thomas, the world feels much grander. Still very much an English countryside island. But the island itself feels much bigger. The engines and the people living on it feel much busier. And in some ways I would say the cast itself feels more diverse once they gave the characters unique voices. I'm a sucker for shows that allow their characters to speak in different dialects, and giving Duck his West Country accent and the narrow gauge engines Welsch accents honestly endeared them to me more.
Anyway, main point I'm trying to get at is that the introduction of The Great Railway Show helped to expand the Thomas universe and show the rest of the world interacting with Sodor and vice-versa, even if only for a short period of time. It adds to the grandness of the world.
I also really like Thomas's arc in this movie. With how often he gets picked on for being a "little engine" over the course of the series, it's no wonder the guy's a little self conscious. If the narrator called me "short and stumpy" three times in a row I'd be pretty self-conscious too lol. But jokes aside, I did like seeing Thomas have conflict with this part of his identity. His verses in "You Can Only Be You" really made me feel for him, and I loved being able to see him finally come around at the end.
And of course, we can't talk about The Great Race without mentioning
HOW PRETTY JAMES'S DECORATIVE PAINTWORK IS!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT HIM! LOOK AT MY PRETTY BOY! GAZE UPON HIS BEAUTY AND HIS SPLENDIDNESS!!!
And you know what? I'm gonna say it. James deserved to win Best Decorated Engine. Sorry not sorry RAJIV! But they don't call me the Red Engine Apologist for nothing! My pookie deserved to win!
Tumblr media
One of these days I've got to do humanized versions of James's and Emily's looks from this movie. I can see it very clearly in my head but I also want to, um, draw other characters HAHAHAHA
Anyway, TLDR, The Great Race was an amazing movie with a killer soundtrack, great story, and a concept that appeals to ME SPECIFICALLY. I also genuinely think it would adapt very well into a stage musical (similar in visual style to the Spongebob musical). I have a clear vision in my head for what it would look like but unfortunately I don't have the money nor resources to make it a reality so it would just stay in my head. But just know that every time I watch this movie I am actively thinking about how I would hypothetically adapt this to the stage.
I''ve spent WAY too much time rambling about The Great Race but yeah, there's your answer.
Also if you're curious, here's every Thomas movie I've watched so far ranked from favorite to least favorite.
The Great Race (obviously)
Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure (Thomas had a great arc in this one, "Never Overlook a Little Engine" was fun, and visuals are spectacular. Solid movie but it can't beat the campiness of The Great Race)
The Adventure Begins (Solid movie. The other two are just more fun imo)
Tale of the Brave (It was a good movie and I probably would have appreciated it more if I watched it in High Quality. But unfortunately I can't stand Kerry Shale James and so I chose to watch a grainy upload on YouTube instead.)
Journey Beyond Sodor (I'm sorry to my one mutual (you know who you are) who said this was their favorite movie. But unfortunately, in my opinion, the songs do not slap as hard as in The Great Race)

Now guess who got inspired by yet another Pocahontas scene for an odypen moment! Me! Hahahaha ✨️ 😆
Seriously if I were to picture a final scene for a pre-Iliad scene with Odysseus and Penelope this would be it!
youtube
🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭
The harbor of Ithaca it was packed with people who had arrived even from the farthest village to see their king off for war. Almost the entire fleet of the island was waiting ready for the long uncertain trip. The black ships with the large sails seemed more eager to start their journey than the many men who were now saying the last goodbyes to their families and friends before boarding to the ships. Odysseus the king of Ithaca waited patiently for the preparations to finish. His royal vibrant clothes of red and crimson uniquely standing out of the crowd. Penelope the queen was standing by his side, her eyes never leaving him as if she wanted to burn every single twitch of his lips into her memory. She could tell he was trying very hard not to cry; for his people and for herself but he seemed to be failing. Her own eyes were tearful. Within her arms she was holding their son Telemachus; the most precious thing both of them had. The infant seemed calm and yet one could feel it's agitation. It was as if he could feel his father's upcoming absence. Odysseus seemed equally indecisive to board his own ship.
Polites, one of Odysseus's most trusting friends walked towards this silent scene of woe, drawing his king's attention.
"The ships are almost ready, sire. We must get on board or we'll lose the tide"
"No...wait..." Odysseus whispered. "Just a few more moments..."
His voice was shaking. Penelope knew she had to do something to break this ice. Slowly she approached. On her right was the elder queen mother Anticlea, her mother in law and on her left Eyryclea, the old slave nursemaid. That woman who helped her husband be brought up now she would take care of Telemachus when the time was right. Behind them there was Penelope's entourage of servants and slave girls. Slowly and steadily Penelope approached her husband. She lifted the baby in her arms and slowly cooed at him.
"Come on...come to say goodbye to your father...he leaves for war"
Hands shaking with emotion Odysseus took the small wrapped up creature and then everyone watched the king break for a second. He raised that small head to his own neck and embraced it tightly holding it securely in his strong hand
"My sweet Telemachus..." whispered Odysseus sobbing silently
He raised his son to his lips and kissed that soft head.
"Take care of your mother... I leave this to you both a wish and a curse... take care of her..."
The baby made a small sound and then sobbed slowly as Odysseus gave him back to Penelope. Laërtes approached his son embracing him tightly
"Come back victorious, my son...come back to us..."
Odyssey released him from his strong arms only to embrace his mother who was holding back her tears more bravely than any army.
"Mother..." whispered Odysseus, "I shall return. I promise..."
It was an empty promise and he knew it. Anticlea knew it too. Her son could easily tell a white lie if he had to. They knew there was no guarantee of his return and yet she would choose to grasp that promise like an amulet or like a spell. She knew at least her son would try. That would be enough. Euryclea was sobbing softly as Odysseus embraced his nursemaid.
"My sweet nurse I shall leave you my precious Telemachus and my wife. I shall entrust you my most priceless treasures...take care of them till I return...."
For last he left Penelope; his wife and love whom he felt he met so little! Even if she was there when he carved their bed under the olive tree that was still thriving over them; even if they both created the beautiful son she was holding. Somehow he knew he would lose a long time away. Troy was far. He needed a few months of trip and no one knew how long it would take to take the infamous city. Tenderly he touched her cheek. Suddenly all words were drowned in his throat. Penelope leaned to his touch...she kissed that hand she wetted with her tears.
"We need you here..." she whispered
"I know..."
"But you have to go..."
"I know..." Odysseus whispered again, "but how can I leave you...?"
"You never will..." Penelope murmured back, "no matter where you go I will always be with you...forever. I will wait for your return..."
Odysseus leaned back and she met him halfway. They had no idea how long they kissed but neither wanted to let the other go. Neither wished to end that moment.
"Odysseus..." Polites interrupted again
Slowly and unwillingly Odysseus let her go, her hand slowly sliding away from his till fully separated. Penelope clutched the baby to her chest watching him climb upon his ship.
"Good luck my king" said the sailor who assisted him, "may the gods join you..."
Penelope watched as her husband boarded the ship and his strong voice echoed in the harbor as he gave the order for the ship to depart. On the cue the fleet replied as the magnificent vessels began their slow journey to the open sea. The king of Ithaca was leaving...
Penelope watched as the ships became one mass just like all lives become the same at the war. She could still tell her husband's red tunic but it was becoming all the more difficult. She barely felt the hand of the old nurse to her shoulder. She could hardly feel her tears drying and falling.
"My beloved queen..."
Penelope didn't hear. She only clutched the baby to her chest, did a half turn and ran. She ran like she never had run before. Her feet seemed to have gained wings and her lungs knew no fatigue as she reached the highest hill at the palaces foot. She saw the ships leaving but she could tell the first belonged to the man she loved the most in this world. The small swallow flew by her face as the wind rose, giving breath to the sails that were taking her husband away from her.
Odysseus was leaving...and no one knew when he would come back. And yet she could see her husband looking that way. She would come back. He had to...
Odysseus looked up to see the presence at the top. The crimson veils that were flowing to the atrong wind sent by the gods had to be her. He desperately ran to the back as if he expected to walk on air yo get closer. He ignored the calls of the sailors on the ship and he looked towards her. He knew she had to be looking at him right now... he was leaving but the look would be a promise. One way or another he would come back to her. To this life or the next...
Penelope knew she would wait for him to meet him again. To this life or the next...
The wind carried the silent promise.
To this life or the next...
Sorry guys I scribble again to the middle of the night but damn!

Hiya!
I saw your kissing prompt and I'd love to see Prompt 1 with Luffy 👀
Just imagine how much he'd enjoy the kiss and when it stopped, he's sort of in a daze because of how good it felt 🥰🥰
I even bet he would whine for another ❤️❤️
Have a great day/night! You're doing amazing but make Sure to take enough breaks
Luffy x prompt 1: being unable to open their eyes for a few moments afterward
Tumblr media
heyyy! first of all, thank you for you sweet words and sorry for the late reply. I am trying my best to take enough breaks - but at the same time, I really don't want to disappoint you guys! I'm trying my best to balance everything out, but not gonna lie: life is kicking my ass right now. and this request just gave me an excuse to escape reality and enjoy this little tooth rotting bubble of love with luffy!! I hope you enjoy it dear. x (ps: have a great day/night too!)
gender neutral! sfw, super fluff.
feel free to reblog, like, and leave a comment. i would very much appreciate it. if you enjoy my works, click here to read more or buy me a coffee.. - from this event.
Resting your feet in Luffy's lap, you rested your back against the Sunny's railings, enjoy the quiet, peaceful night you and the crew finally got to enjoy.
Luffy was more silent than usual, too. Gently caressing your legs, he let his slender fingers run up and down your skin drawing imaginary circles, leaving a pathway of goosebumps behind them. He always tried to savour these little moments between you in the best way he could - even if that mean being his quieter self, letting the ocean's waves serenade to you and doing the rest of the work, speaking about his emotions better than he ever could. This was all he wanted, after all. What's a king without a kingdom? What did it matter if he sailed every ocean but never got you? He wanted all of you; your sadness, your triumphs, your fears. You were an island he had yet to discover, the most precious treasure he could ever find. What if this was everything the biggest treasure of the world was about? All these questions crowded his head. He didn't want to give up on his dreams, he never would - but he didn't want to lose you either. What if you fell with someone else whilst he was busy playing the super-hero?
"What's up?" you asked, flicking his straw hat.
Smiling at you as brightly as always, he whispered "it's nothing." reassuringly, before putting his signature hat on your head. Sometimes he wondered if you could read his mind, if there was an hidden talent of you he hadn't yet discovered that allowed you to understand him in ways no one ever did. Luffy enjoyed your company more than anything else - with you, he felt safe. He was still your captain, but somehow, he felt like he could just let his guard down. There was no need to pretend, no expectations towards him being as cheerful as a 5 years old all the time. To Luffy, you were like a big breath of fresh air, a good nap after a long, exhausting day - like coming home, shutting everything else outside. He simply loved the comfortable silence between the two of you.
Turning yourself around, you snuggled closer to him, your head now resting on his thighs. Laughing at you, Luffy lightly pinched your cheek.
"Hello?" he said curiously, watching you adjust on his body. "What was that for?"
"I was tired of the water splashing on my back." you replied smiling. "Plus, I like the view from here." you hinted raising an eyebrow, trying hard to refrain from smirking.
"Oh shut up." he replied, dragging the hat on your face whilst he felt his cheeks almost combust.
"Make me then, captain." you reply, moving your straw hat back to your head again and lifting yourself up slightly, getting closer to his face. By now, Luffy's face was completely red.
"Say it again." he gulped. What was that? He never thought you'd be so bold to ask something like this - he didn't even think he'd reply like that but trepidation was building up inside him, second after second.
You shook your head laughing, resting an hand on his neck and pulling him into a soft, timid kiss. His lips felt soft as they explored yours, kissing you as if life depended on it.
Breaking away from the kiss, you brushed your nose against his. Luffy followed your movements, his eyes still closed from the kiss. He was trying to elaborate what just happened, to understand why it felt like he just discovered a whole, new land to explore.
"Why did you stop?" he asked, before leaning towards you and kissing you once more. A weak moan escaped his mouth as he welcomed the taste of your lips once again. Maybe this was the promised land, the secret treasure.

John B Routledge x fem!reader
Summary: Another part in the kink series! So it turns out John B’s got a exhibition kink and he loves it when his girl rides his thigh 👀
A/N: So the whole point of this series for me was to push myself out of my usual comfort zone with my writing, so again this is a little bit different than what I usually write, but hope you enjoy it!
Warnings: Smut smut smut, exhibitionism, thigh riding
You and John B had been together for some months now, you stuck on this *impossible* gold treasure hunt with him that had somehow led you both to the Bahamas. It was pretty here, sunsets over the ocean and the beach, posh hotels and everything else. But you both being Pogues - and on the run - you didn’t really get to experience all these things the same way these Island folk did, as much as you wanted to.
You two had managed to sneak into a nice hotel room, with a balcony overlooking the bright blue waters. You’d also managed to grab a shower now and were finally feeling less gross now. You pulled the towel around your body and headed out to the balcony where your boyfriend was sat shirtless on a chair, looking out at the sun setting in the distance.
“Told you it was beautiful,” he said, his arms opening for you to come and sit down on his lap. Your hair was wet but he didn’t mind, wrapping his arms around you instantly and holding you close. You had been on a bit of a whirlwind romance with John B; you hated each other, fell in love and nearly died looking for treasure and now here you were with him in a sun-soaked country.
He was quiet for a moment before a surprise sentence came from his mouth. “Have you ever had sex on a balcony?” You looked at him and snorted.
“Babe you were my first, I thought you knew that,” you said through a laugh and he suddenly realised how dumb his question must of sounded.
“Ok let me rephrase, would you have sex on a balcony?” Your ears pricked up at the idea. John B had definitely made you more adventurous and you were willing to try anything new for him. Actually, the two of you had been quite exploratory as of late. There was sex in the Twinkie, multiple times, sex in a hammock outside his house, and don’t get you started chatting about how he’d started this new rough and dominating thing that you REALLY were enjoying exploring. Things had got adventurous, yes, and not just in the treasure hunt sense.
“Cos I mean all I’m thinking about is fucking you on this balcony, where everyone can see,” he said, licking his lips. You looked around. There were a few high rise hotels nearby and other balconies, not less the one next to you. Yes anyone really could see.
You bit your lip at the thought, considering your options as John B snaked his hand up and under your towel, his fingers moving slowly over your thigh. He brushed his thumb over your inner thigh, before pushing his hand back a little so it “bumped” against your core.
“Feels like you like the idea,” he said, noticing you were getting wetter by the second - and not from the shower. “So I’m game if you are. I’d love to fuck you over that balcony, make everyone watch you cum.” Your hips jolted at his words and the gravelly tone of his voice. You knew you couldn’t say no now, you wanted this as much as he did and he couldn’t wait to show you a good time.
“Come sit here beautiful,” he said, dragging his teeth along his bottom lip as he tapped his thigh. Another thing you, and him, were into - thigh riding. You mounted his thigh, lifting the towel up to be around your waist so he could feel your soaking wet core on his skin. He grabbed the towel, lifting it up and exposing your bum as he smacked you playfully. You gasped at the feeling, slowly starting to rock your hips and drag yourself across his muscled thigh. He tensed with every movement, which only added to the pleasure he gave you.
You moved expertly, rolling your hips over his thigh as you got yourself off. He was so taken by you that all he could do was sit there and watch you grind yourself onto him. As your movements became more intense, the towel around you started to fall off. You initially tried to cover yourself back up, but with a little bit of encouragement from John B, the towel was tugged off and dropped to the floor. You were now completely naked, on the balcony where anyone could see you.
“Feels so good,” you whined, groaning when he smacked your ass with his hand. Once, twice, three times, each one getting harder. You kept rolling your hips, only losing that rhythm when the smacks came. He felt so good and the fact anyone could see you - you could hardly contain yourself and you were so desperately turned on.
John B lifted your briefly off his thigh so he could remove his boxers off himself and suddenly there was a change of position. He had you up against the side of the balcony, your naked body pressed against the cool glass and you leaning over.
“Good girl,” he murmured, smacking your ass hard and causing your body to slam into the glass of the balcony, “Now spread your legs for me. Show me - and everyone - how beautiful that pussy is.” You gasped at his words but did exactly as he said, moving your legs apart. He reached down and brushed his fingers over your slit from behind, feeling how wet you were already.
He gathered some of your slick on his fingers and tasted it, before pushing his fingers inside you. Two this time. “Bend over more,” he ordered and you did as he said, leaning over the balcony. “Does it feel good?” he asked. You didn’t respond. “How does it feel?” You groaned out before the words just spilled from your mouth.
“Feels so good,” you managed, your voice quiet.
“Can’t hear you. What feels good?”
“Feels so good when you fuck me with your fingers.”
“Louder.”
It was then you shouted it - at the top of your voice. And if anyone wasn’t watching, they could definitely hear you now. So turned on by it all, he pumped his cock a few times in his hand before he pushed into you from behind. You moaned out at the feeling, rolling your hips back against his as he filled you up. He pushed in you so deep that you felt he was tearing you in two. “Tell everyone how good it feels,” he said, slamming your hips into the glass with the force of his. You squeezed your thighs together best you could, only adding to the sensation he was giving you. “Such a pretty girl, look how bad you are being fucked like this on a balcony.”
“Fuck John B,” you screamed out, “Fuck me harder please. Give me more please.”
He wickedly bit his lip, so turned on by what you were doing and saying that he felt his dick twitch inside you. He didn’t even have time to warn you as he filled you up with his hot seed. He pulled out just before he shot the last load and it coated your core. You couldn’t help but touch yourself and taste his cum which was mixed in with your own.
“Baby if you want a taste, get on your knees and clean me up. I know you like that.” You nodded, getting down on your knees whilst he stood there proudly naked on the balcony, his cock still erect as you licked him clean.

‘What is a god without power?’
The proper question to ask was ‘What is a long path without a clear destination?’You do remember falling from the sky but instead of falling to the ground and breaking all your bones, an anemo slime prompt caught your form and delivered you to safety. Well, Teyvat for you was safe at first until their true nature came knocking at your door. You fixed the mask you donned as you carefully stepped on top of the serpent’s skull.
Yashiori Island is a dangerous island to be in and having you finish the quest to calm the storm made its bite just a little weaker. Your steps made a few creaking sounds akin to the thunder that once raged through the island but it wasn’t loud enough to disturb the child (Kid Kujirai) who stood at the mouth of the skull and was still waiting for someone to play with him. You don’t mind playing and interacting but you already lost trust in the world to begin with.
You took a seat on the snout of the serpent, keeping one of your legs folded and the other on the side so you can get up fast. What is a god without power? It is one question that never once phrased in your head. Not until you were suddenly thrusted into this world and not until you learnt that your beloved characters already had your life planned for you.
You placed a few dandelions on your side, a foreign flower in an eternal land. Dandelions are said to grant wishes but until the stray souls in Yashiori, no loved ones of yours are getting your wish to be carried by the wind. You watched the dandelions float gently on the breeze before carefully descending  from the skull.
Nothing much changed when you first step foot in Teyvat, enemies are still enemies, some just happened to have a change of mind like the slimes. If you get spotted by maddened samurais and treasure hoarders, you can trust the fatui to protect you but you can never trust them not to try and take you.
You quietly opened your wing glider and flew yourself to the nearest waverider. Without the game’s UI or a handy watch, it is nearly impossible to tell what time it is. It might only be 10 pm but you don’t want to risk getting caught under the sun.
The waverider paddled fast in the waters with its windows open. The remaining dandelions on your hand got carried by the strong winds that sailing gave. The boat finally made a stop at the back of your current resident for this month until given notice, Tenshukaku. You’ve always envisioned entering Inazuma and wandering through the brightly lit streets but right now the back of the islands are the safest for you. You debated with yourself for a moment before deciding to climb the rock formation instead. You can always use the thunder sakura boughs to propel yourself up but that will just risk your safety.
“I heard the harvest was good last time. My children are still fed even though the salary system is a bit slow. I hope next month’s harvest will be as good as the last time!”
“For sure our highest god is here in our nation after all. I heard that they left Liyue twice flourishing when they resided there for a little while.”
You bit your lip bitterly. There is no god, you just happened to be the unlucky player that is playing the game. Without the player’s controls you have nothing to protect yourself with. You can only rely that a playable character is near you to keep you safe. You don’t have the power to bless the lands, it was the work of the dendro and hydro users. The flourishing farms and the fish filled lakes are all their works and not of yours.
‘What is a god without power?’ You successfully climbed the back fence of Tenshukaku only to be greeted by two pairs of purple eyes. You forgot puppets doesn’t sleep and Sara is always at her beck and call. “Your grace, you’re not a cat and it’s not safe for you to be outside.”  The answer to the question in your opinion, a god without power is nothing but a prisoner for its followers.

The Gift of the Magi (a Good Omens meta)
If you’ve been following the Good Omens discourse, you’ve probably seen discussions around whether Aziraphale’s choice of the name “Jim” for Gabriel comes from either the cabin boy in Treasure Island or the titular character in the novel Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad.
Tumblr media
But what if there’s a more subtle connection that viewers haven’t caught onto yet? And what if it’s a connection that Aziraphale intuited on a such a deep level he didn’t even realize it, the very moment Gabriel showed up naked on the his doorstep? And what if it’s a connection that has deep significance to his actions in the final 15?
Let’s follow this thought down the wooded winter path and see where it goes, shall we?
Before we proceed, we must first pause a moment to reflect on a classic O. Henry short story, which shares the title of this post: “The Gift of the Magi.” If you aren’t familiar with it, or if it’s been a while since you last read it, you can refresh your memory here (text) or here (text) or here (video). O. Henry lived from 1862 to 1910, and I’ve no doubt that Aziraphale would be aware of this author. What’s more, Neil Gaiman has read the work of O. Henry and has absolutely been influenced by it. I’m going to give the gist of the story below, but you really ought to familiarize yourself with the full work if for no other reason than to add to the angst I’m about to deliver.
So: “The Gift of the Magi” is the story of Della and Jim, a young couple who each sacrifice their most valued possessions to buy the other a Christmas gift that they deem worthy of the one that they love. Jim sells his gold pocket watch—a family heirloom that had belonged to his grandfather—to buy jeweled combs for Della’s beautiful long hair. Meanwhile, Della sells her hair to buy a platinum watch chain so that Jim need not be embarrassed by the cheap leather thong he’d been using when taking out his watch to check the time. In the end, both have sacrificed something priceless to give each other gifts that a neither can use. It’s a touching story, really, but also quite obviously tragic. Della and Jim both acted rashly, but also out of love, and in the end, it is that love that they treasure the most.
By now you’ve probably noticed something, but if not, let me draw for you the connections.
Tumblr media
Jim arrives naked on Aziraphale’s doorstep. If there’s one thing we know about Gabriel, it’s that he's really fond of his suits. He not only mentions it in his chat with Aziraphale in the sushi restaurant in S1 and in the file that Crowley watches in Heaven in S2 but also visits his tailor in a scene that was in the script for S1 but never filmed. And why has Jim shown up on Aziraphale’s doorstep? Why, he’s trying to get to Beelzebub, of course. And what does Jim have of Beelzebub's? A fly in which to keep his memories. Like his namesake in “Gift of the Magi,” Jim gave up his most valued possession (quite possibly his only possession) to be with Beelzebub. And like Della, Beelzebub gave up a part of themself (one of their flies) to be with Gabriel.
And Aziraphale noticed it.
Tumblr media
Now, if I’d spent four years waiting for the other shoe to drop after thwarting a major agenda of both my employer and their most significant corporate rival, the arrival of my old boss naked on my doorstep would absolutely set off alarm bells in my head. It clearly did for Crowley, and I’ve no doubt it did for Aziraphale. He didn’t have all the pieces yet and he couldn’t have known that Gabriel made a sacrifice out of love, but Aziraphale knew that the other shoe was about about drop and that a sacrifice of some sort was coming.
And to be clear, I’m not saying that in the moment when he landed on the name “Jim” it had any connection at all to the O. Henry story, because it could not have and didn’t—not to Aziraphale, anyway (as for a certain author by the name of Neil…well, we’ll probably never know)—but once all the pieces started falling into place, Aziraphale would almost certainly have noticed the parallels.
Tumblr media
So then came his chin-wag with The Metatron, and the decisions he made during or immediately after. And once again we have parallels, and must wonder if the O. Henry story perhaps inspired them.
Because whether you believe our favorite anxious angel made the sacrifice to protect Crowley from a vague but definite threat or to buy Crowley back his angelic status, the reality is that Aziraphale gave up his most valued possession for Crowley. It was foolish, it was rash, and it was done out of love, but it was absolutely done for Crowley—because no matter how much Aziraphale wants to change Heaven, he doesn’t love Heaven enough to give up his bookshop. And how do we know this? Because in that same not-filmed scene where Gabriel visits his tailor, Gabriel and Sandalphon try to promote Aziraphale back to Heaven, and he doesn't want to go. He's only just purchased his bookshop, you see, and the grand opening is that afternoon.
Tumblr media
So the question is, if Aziraphale is Jim in this scenario, and the bookshop is his pocket watch, what part of himself will Crowley, as Della (and coincidentally, the only one of the duo to have been shown with long hair) sacrifice for love of Aziraphale? Maybe his cynicism?

Ruby
Another horrendous defeat at the hand of Peter Pan! Hook felt like crying, of course he pushed the feelings down. It could have been worse, his clothes were intact and any tears would ruin his make up. So instead he leaned into his feelings of rage.
Not the most dignified but he needed release. He slashed a tree, threw rock at another tree and finally kicked a rock hard enough to hurt his foot. "Blast it all!" Hook yelled, holding his foot in pain.
He was of course knocked out of his current fit by the sound of a child crying. An unfamiliar sound on Neverland, he smirked at the thought of Peter or one of the lost boys getting hurt during his defeat. He stepped lightly towards the sound, one hand unsheathing his sword.
It was coming from the shore, the one where all the lost things washed up. He often visited there to check for rare treasures. Hook would be lying if he said he wasn't confused to see a little girl with curly black hair looking more lost than a lost boy wandering the shore.
He sheathed his sword again, if she was friends with Peter Pan she'd be with him. "Excuse me young lady, are you alright?" He asked. She looked over to him a tad startled, she wiped away her tears quickly from her icy blue eyes. "Hello sir, I believe I'm a bit lost." She said giving a polite curtsey.
Hook already liked her better than any lost boy, at least this one has manners. "What's your name little lady?" Hook asked. "Ruby." She said doing her best to pretend she wasn't crying a second ago. "Captain James Hook, a pleasure to meet you miss Ruby." Hook responded taking an opportunity to bow with a flourish.
"Might I ask where I am Captain? It is curious I end up on an island from a London alleyway. It doesn't seem to make much sense." She said looking around, rather confused. "I'm afraid making sense isn't a strength of Neverland." Hook sneered. "Are you lost on Neverland too Mr. Hook?" Ruby questioned.
"Of course not! I know how to get back to London, I simply don't have the means." Hook said offended she would imply he didn't know what he was doing. "Well I suppose it doesn't matter anyway, is there a place to stay?" She asked. Hook paused for a moment, if he let her go now Peter would find her and inevitably make her a lost girl.
It was better for a respectable young lady to look up to a respectable gentleman than a rowdy group of brats. "I could escort you to my ship, there's always a place for new recruits." Hook said, looking Ruby up and down inspecting her outfit. "Me? A sailor?" She questioned, the hope in her eyes making Hook reconsider his proposition.
"A pirate, although you might look a bit more intimating if you dress like one. I'm sure we have a few hand me downs you can wear until you steal your own style." Hook said motioning for her to follow him. "A pirate! You look rather strange for a pirate!" Ruby blurted before covering her mouth.
"What are you trying to say?" Hook spoke sternly stopping to look at the little girl. "Im sorry, I simply thought pirates were dirty. I suppose my father was mistaken." She said bluntly.
"I do pay more attention to me looks than most, a pirate should be dashing! Most don't put in the effort." Hook replied continuing to lead Ruby to the ship. He gave her a full box of old pirate clothes for children, some from his youth others from a few crew members who didn't need them anymore. When she came back from being dressed he saw she had repurposed a pink vest he used to wear.
"Better taste than most on this ship." He mumbled. "Oh we haven't had any new recruits in years capn! Isn't it nice?" Smee gushed clasping his hands together. Hook rolled his eyes at Smee's sentimentality. "Well done, now Ruby why don't you start by swabbing the deck? Smee will show you the ropes, I have work to be done in me office no time for a pirate to be idle." Hook stated.
Ruby hugged the Captain much to his confusion. "Now now, no affection." Hook said praying his good hand free and awkwardly patting Ruby on the back. She let go soon after. "Now remember, you're loyal to me, and no fraternizing with Peter Pan." Hook sneered. "Who's Peter pan?" Ruby asked.
"I am!" Peter said flying down and stealing the Captains hat. "THE FLYING DEVIL IS BACK!!!!" Hook screeched pulling out his sword. The crew scrambled into action. Hook and Peter began fighting as usual, lost boys climbed aboard causing chaos.
Meanwhile Ruby looked at the boy, then the captain then calmly walked over to a barrel and climbed up it. She used that to get to the top of the cabin, and swiped the Captains hat off Peters head. She watched them fight for a bit, it was certainly entertaining. She put the hat on herself and swiped a knife from a different pirate, she used the bystander effect to her advantage not really being noticed by anyone in the chaos.
She walked over to Hook and Peter who had moved near the mast and she poked Peter with the knife, not deep enough to cut him but hard enough to notice. Peter fell a little moving away quickly unsure what poked him. "Hey no fair!" Peter chuckled, spotting the little girl. "Just as fair as the ambush you did." Ruby said handing the Captains hat back. Hook grinned moving subtly as they continued to chat.
"What's your name?" Peter asked. "Ruby." She stated proudly. "What are you doing working for a codfish?" Peter asked flying over to her upside down narrowly avoiding a blow from Hook. "Why are you dressed like a flower?" Ruby asked in return. "I'm not dressed as a flower I'm dressed like a fairy." Peter corrected. "No, fairies look pretty." She stated bluntly. Peter flipped around avoiding another attack from hook as another crew member thrown overboard.
"Don't you wanna have fun?" Peter asked trying once again to appeal to the girl. "I am having fun, I'm talking to a boy floating like a balloon on a pirate ship." She said tossing the knife and catching it by the handle. "You're on the bad guys side!' Peter said bluntly. "Well you can't have any fun as a hero without a villain, I'll play on the side I want to and I already promised the captain id stay on his side. It would be impolite to switch now." She said keeping her eyes on Peter as he flew around her.
"Well alright, but we won't go easy on you just because you're a girl." Peter said a smile on his face. "I won't go easy on you for being a boy either." She said, swiping her knife at him. Peter chuckled flying back to Hook to continue their battle. "Nice to meet you Ruby!" He called back.
After a while Peter and the boys inevitably defeated the pirates, Hook was kicked off his own ship again. This time he fell into a lifeboat immediately, Ruby and Smee were waiting for him. "Blast it all!" Hook yelled once again, only to tense up hearing a familiar ticking sound. The crock lunged out of the water only for Smee to hit it with a paddle.
It quickly swam away after that. "Why haven't you done that before?!" Hook yelled. "Never thought to." Smee shrugged. "Bye Ruby!" Peter called waving. "Bey Peter! We'll get you next time!" She called back. "Doubt it!" Peter yelled back flying away.
"You've done well to resist Peter's charms." Hook said, smoothing out his hair trying to make himself a little more presentable. "It wasn't that hard, he's kinda dumb." Ruby shrugged. "Well in any case you've proved your loyalty, hopefully you'll continue in the right direction." Hook said looking a little depressed at the state of his fancy coat. "I can sew that right up for you capn." Smee chirped.
Ruby hummed a little tune as they sailed back, Hook sighed in frustration. At least the day wasn't a total loss, perhaps Ruby could be a part of a new plan.

Phantom Airship - Beyond the Imaginary: Chapter 6

Natsume: It seems everything is going weLL. That’s one island completED – Now, this is where the real game begiNS.
StiLL, I’d have expected nothing less from “ALKALOid”. According to the internal daTA, it appears they’ve passed with marks far higher than averaGE.
It’s no wonder they were able to take part in the “SS” main battle as well as gain almost perfect marks for the trial aimed towards novicES.
SoRA, what do you think of them so fAR?
Sora: HaHa~♪ They’re perfect as test players!
Sora had some worries, but if we chose a unit that has experience playing video games as our test players, then they’ll bring something unexpected.
“ALKALOID” has great teamwork so Sora is looking forward to seeing what’ll happen next~♪
Natsume: HeHE. Teamwork increases their abilities two or even three-foLD. It’ll be interesting to see how they’ll do with that in miND.
Tsumugi: Umm~ I’m sorry for interrupting your little fun, but this “Phantom Airship” is a stage aimed for new players, right?
“ALKALOID’s” abilities have surpassed those of novices.
I think they’ve cleared the beginner’s first stage far too quickly, but are you sure we made the right choice selecting them?
Natsume: Oh, you haven’t heard, senpAI?
The slogan for the “Phantom Airship” is "there are no lies”.
But there are new traps lying in wait in this gaME.
Right, SoRA?
Sora: HiHi~ Sora is, of course, completely prepared!
While Senpai was busy with work, Sora and Master gave a few opinions to the game developer and they’ve finally implemented them in-game.
Sora thinks the “Phantom Airship” will be a lot more interesting now~
Senpai, please enjoy the show ☆
Tsumugi: What~? I see you’re not telling me the important part.
Natsume: HeHE. You don’t have to look so disappointED – You’ll understand soon enough, SenpAI.
This “Phantom Airship” isn’t a system that puts together units of complete novicES…
Its focus is on units that have been formed for some tiME. That’s the hiNT.
They should be able to realise soon that the true nature of the game is to disband a unit that has already been created and then put them together agaIN – like to scrap and rebuiLD.
Tsumugi: ……….?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aira: Yaaay~! We’ve completed the “Queen’s Island”~♪
Let’s keep this up and clear the second and third island too, guys!
Hiiro: Hehe. Aira, you’re full of energy. I’m glad this island gave you a good confidence boost.
Aira: N–No, it’s not like I wasn’t confident in the first place~? I’m just not used to playing video games…!
Mayoi: Now that you mention it, I think we’re getting used to VR. It feels as though my anxiety has also disappeared…
I think I’m getting the hang of this.
Tatsumi: Indeed. I’m starting to understand how this world works.
Aira-san helped us before but I’m sure there’ll be a variety of different trials awaiting us.
Let’s show how much we’ve grown and support each other.
Sora: “HaHa~! That’s a wonderful word of encouragement! Now, that’s what you’d call a team player~♪”
Mayoi: Woah. S-Sora-san…!
Sora: “Don’t be so surprised~ This is all part of a ‘facilitator’s’ job.”
Mayoi: Oh, right. I’m sorry.
So, Sora-san, what does it mean to be a “facilitator”...?
Sora: “Right. You will be heading for the next island very soon but…”
“You can choose where you want to go next! Any island is fine so you can discuss with everyone else before proceeding”
“Choose the island that interests you the most ♪”
Aira: Hmm. So you’re saying we can go wherever we want to collect those “treasures”?
Since Harukawa-senpai gave us a recommendation, shall we try those islands out? We’ll be able to tell what kind of island it’ll be up close.
Mayoi: I agree. It’ll be safer to check out what the island is like from afar instead of visiting a mystery island.
It may seem somewhat cowardly but better safe than sorry.
Aira: Then, let’s take the airship, check out the islands from afar and then choose one to visit.
Harukawa-senpai, can you tell us the closest island here–
…Wait, hmm? What’s that? There’s a pillar in the sky?
Hiiro: Yeah, I think that’s a tornado.
Aira: A-A tornado!?
Hiiro: Indeed. It seems it appeared out of nowhere. It’s hard to tell which direction it’s going in compared to real life, so it surprised me since it appeared out of thin air.
Aira: W-What should we do…? We can’t avoid it at this distance!
Don’t you have any ideas, Hiro-kun? You know a lot about nature, right?
Hiiro: Well… it’s hard, Aira. There isn’t much humans can do against the forces of nature.
I don’t think a ritual will stop the tornado from getting closer.
At this distance, I don’t think we can avoid it even if we change directions.
Aira: Uuu, don’t force me to face reality like that!
We’re outta ideas~! We’re gonna die at this rate!
Hiiro: Hmm. I think we should be honest here but… it’s going to be hard for us to do that, Aira.
Tatsumi: Everyone, please calm down. Can you listen to me?
Mayoi: T–Tatsumi-san? Do you have a plan…?
Aira: As expected of our great upperclassman… he’s got way more experience than us!
Tatsumi: No, I’m sorry I’m unable to meet your expectations, but now that things have come to this, we have no choice but to pray.
God reaches out to everyone. So please put your hands together and join me – God, please guide us. *Makes a sign of the cross*
Aira: What? Y-You’re not serious…? You’re gonna rely on God!?
But I guess that’s all we can do. Let’s all pray!
Mayoi: W-Will things work out if we pray here…?
Wait, the tornado has gotten so much bigger…!
N–NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Aira: SAVE USSSSSS~!

The renowned “pirate” William Kidd was born on or around the 22nd of January 1645 in Dundee..
Although most of us have heard a bit about Kidd being a pirate I think we deserve to hear the whole sorry tale about this Greenock man.
William Kidd operated during the era known as ‘The Golden Age of Pirates’ and is probably best known because of the speculation over his treasure. Kidd had a very unlucky career. From a great privateer he became an infamous pirate. Many historians today do not even consider Captain William Kidd a pirate, hence the inverted commas in the first line. People talk more about his fate, and less about his deeds. For his one and only act of piracy he paid with his very own life. However, beginning of his career looked very promising.
Since the childhood, his dream had been to become a seaman, or even more, a great privateer and a pirate hunter. Later on, he left his homeland for New York where his career got underway. The success came almost instantly and Kidd’s reputation as a privateer was growing rapidly. His prestige increased after many successful raids and a rank of a captain entitled him afterwards. He married Sarah Bradley Cox, a rich 20-years-old two-times widow. They had two kids. With successful career, wealth and family, his dreams were becoming reality.
England heard of his success, and in 1695, the king called him to serve there. Kidd agreed, hoping to win more challenging contracts. Once in England, he met many prominent citizens, including the new governor of New York and Massachusetts, Sir George Bellomont. He had a proposal for Kidd, which later turned fatal. He was put in the command of the “Adventure”, a specially designed galley-warship with 30 cannons and 100 skillful crewmembers. His backers counted a lot of influential people in England. Some rumour goes that the king himself included that group. His main task was to hunt the pirates of the Red Sea. Kidd acquired two commissions: one gave him the authority to capture the French ships, and the other made him the government’s pirate hunter.
The whole plan also involved some semi-legal actions which were supposed to bring a big profit. On those pirate-like operations, the backers would turn a blind eye. Kidd sailed out of the Chatham dockyard, and the troubles started soon after. Almost all his best crewmen left him for two Royal Navy ships, which were in a need of sailors. So, Kidd was forced to recruit the new ones in New York. Unfortunately, new crewmembers were mostly smugglers and former pirates, and they intended to attack all ships with no exception. As expected, Kidd refused that, so the arguing between him and newly-promoted crew began immediately.
The next destination was Madagascar. Meanwhile, no acceptable victims were found. There were a few attacks on French ships, but they failed. His crew was frustrated, especially when Kidd fled from some potential victims who seemed well-armed. Actually, they had some small captures, but they used earned money to repair the ship in the Laccadive Islands. Some of the disappointed crew left him there. The others pressured their captain even more because of his evasiveness. In one of many conflicts, enraged Kidd killed his gunner William Moore. After that incident, a potential mutiny was quelled. However, almost two years after leaving London, Kidd couldn’t handle the pressure anymore, so he committed his first and last act of piracy.
It was January 1698, when Kidd captured Quedah Merchant, the treasure ship that belonged to the British East India Company. He won battle easily and it was a truly great catch. That enormous vessel became his new flagship called the “Adventure Prize” and he finally abandoned the damaged “Adventure”. However, Kidd became a wanted man as the revolted East India Company forced the government to brand him as a pirate. The backers couldn’t support him anymore and any pardon was unacceptable. He had no other choice but to try to make some kind of a deal through the Governor Bellamont. Unfortunately, neither he, nor anybody else could do anything for Kidd anymore.
In April 1700, Kidd sailed to New York hoping to hide behind some powerful friends of his. However, he was arrested and shipped back to the England. William Kidd was trialled in May 1701 and sentenced to death for piracy and killing his gunner. This unlucky man had even the disastrous death. On his execution, the hanging rope had broken, before he was hanged properly in the second try. His body was put in a cage on Thames River as a warning to any potential pirate.
