Who are the Party’s acnh dreamies, and did they get them? Also, do they have Happy Home Paradise?
Completely unrelated, but I’ve had the random urge to play animal crossing all week. And I’ve felt this weird connection to Isabelle. Strange. /s
(I’m so sad that I never got to play New Leaf, but I had a DSI instead of a 3DS so I couldn’t play any of the cool games 😔)
OHHH THIS ASK IS FOR MEEEE IT’S FOR ME!!!!!
i definitely think they have all their dreamies!!! dustin absolutely makes his own amiibos so i think he helps everyone get who they want. i also think he gets involved in a lot of discords and treasure islands so even for the 8 new villagers that didn’t have amiibos at the time, he def had a billion nmt and was very lucky with villager hunting lol. in terms of who their dreamies aaarrrrreeee…
mike: lucky, ankha, wolfgang!! i think those are the only 3 he super cares about and likes to have a rotation + enjoys villager hunting. he just vibes with whoever and isn’t super picky but i think he’s attached to the 3 i picked because he had them in new leaf and they’re his Friends.
will: ruby, coco, sasha, gaston, teddy!! i know that him being bunny coded is affecting my vision but i’m correct. he lovvveeeesss bunnies and i think he’d love ruby and coco so much bc they’re cute but also a little creepy looking so he’d feel bad for them. and i think gaston is so silly looking that he is obsessed with him. teddy is bc he reminds will of a real life walter :)
max: agent s, hazel, keaton, katt, bob!! quite a few but she’s definitely super picky. i think she hardcore judges villagers for being ugly but has also decided some “ugly” ones are so ugly they’re cute (hazel and katt) and they are her ride or die’s. she didn’t seek them out they sought Her and she vibes. definitely hits villagers she hates with a net and sends them hate mail even though that increases friendship with them lol. hates sheep villagers.
el: dotty, audie, pekoe, beardo, greta, scoot, tia, faith, dobie, papi!! obviously a full list but she went through and made sure she had one of each personality type and doubled up on her fave types (normal and peppy). she is def into aesthetics but also thinks some of them are funny!! like scoot with his hat and beardo (who reminds her of hop)
lucas: benjamin, lucky, daisy, butch, shep, cherry! truthfully i think he loves dogs and would have a whole dog island. the ones listed are his absolute faves and the other spots he kind of just rotates as necessary until he finds a personality combo that he likes!!
dustin: raymond, marshal, shino, sherb, zucker, merengue, julian, judy, roald, pietro!! sorry that he is the way he is. he sells villagers on the black market and then just puts them back in his town. it’s not my fault (it is).
2 me they all share a nintendo switch online family plan, so they all technically have hhd! i think mike, dustin, and el are the only ones who actually really play it tho. el tells will he would love it and will doesn’t listen but he might suddenly have another interest in acnh and specifically hhd starting in september 2023. who knows. (i know.)
also you didn’t ask but dustin and mike time travel. sorry about it!!!!

Scripts - S6 - Episode 35 (Part 2 of 3)
Rest of Marshall chat, most of Former LI / OG
PLAYER_SERIOUS: It’s time you opened up, Marshall.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: Well, here goes.
You join him on the swing seat and he looks into your eyes tenderly.
MARSHALL_IDLE: Well, your head might be leaning towards someone else.
MARSHALL_IDLE: But, I think you could be it for me.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: What do you mean?
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: I can’t even think about being with anyone else in here.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: So I feel like I need to open up.
MARSHALL_IDLE: And tell you something I’ve been too guarded to say before.
PLAYER_IDLE: What is it?
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: I think I tend to push people away.
MARSHALL_IDLE: In a kind of balance between accidentally and on purpose, if that makes sense?
PLAYER_IDLE: Go on…
MARSHALL_SERIOUS: I give off this fun and chill vibe.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: Like nothing bothers me. Nothing gets to me. No one gets to me.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: But they do. You do, {0}.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I get to you?
MARSHALL_HAPPY: You know you do.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: In the past when I’ve got close to someone, I’ve run away.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: Deep down because I’m scared of getting hurt I guess.
MARSHALL_IDLE: Ozzy always said it was a defence mechanism, and he’s right.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: He was always the wise one.
MARSHALL_IDLE: But anyway, in Casa Amor I couldn’t run away.
MARSHALL_SAD: So I pushed you away instead.
MARSHALL_IDLE: I tried to focus on Amelia. It felt like our connection wasn’t as deep.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: I guess I didn’t see a future with her.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: You explored it with her because you <i>didn’t</i> see a future?
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: I know that sounds stupid, and it is.
MARSHALL_SAD: But if something’s a short term thing you can’t fall deep.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: Or get hurt. It’s low stakes. Fun. My default.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: But with you I always saw a future. Always knew you could break my heart.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: And that’s why I gave you mixed signals.
MARSHALL_SAD: And it wasn’t cool.
MARSHALL_IDLE: I felt that I could be fun Marshall with Amelia.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: But with you, I felt like I could be every version of me.
MARSHALL_SERIOUS: The me that isn’t always cracking jokes or being the centre of attention.
MARSHALL_SERIOUS: The me that doesn’t run away, even when I’m scared of being hurt.
MARSHALL_SERIOUS: The me that slows down and stops living life at full throttle.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: I’ve been looking for somebody who I can really be myself around.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: And everything’s telling me that you’re that person.
PLAYER_HAPPY: That’s interesting to hear.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I think we’ll complement each other.
MARSHALL_IDLE: And remind each another to have those beautiful slow moments.
PLAYER_IDLE: Like right now?
MARSHALL_HAPPY: Yeah, it just feels so right to me.
Thanks for opening up
PLAYER_HAPPY: Thank you for letting me in.
PLAYER_IDLE: It’s nice to see you open up.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: Thank you for listening.
MARSHALL_IDLE: I want us to be able to share things like that.
MARSHALL_IDLE: I’ve never really had that in my past relationships.
That was a lot of info
PLAYER_IDLE: That was a lot to take in right now.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: Maybe I overshared.
MARSHALL_IDLE: That’s a first for me.
I can relate to that
PLAYER_IDLE: I can relate to that.
PLAYER_IDLE: It feels easier to be guarded, because we don’t know what to expect.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: That’s exactly it.
MARSHALL_IDLE: I feel like we understand each other.
MARSHALL_IDLE: But I really can see a future with you.
MARSHALL_IDLE: Outside of here, I mean.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: Really?
MARSHALL_HAPPY: Yes! That’s what makes me so sure about you.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I keep thinking about doing ordinary things with you.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: Like cooking pasta and watching tv.
That sounds dreamy
PLAYER_HAPPY: That sounds like a dream.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I want somebody to do all those small everyday things with too.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: Music to my ears.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: You don’t know how happy I am to hear that.
That sounds like a nightmare
PLAYER_IDLE: That sounds sort of nightmarish.
PLAYER_IDLE: Not sure I’m ready for that yet.
MARSHALL_IDLE: That’s ok.
MARSHALL_IDLE: We can focus on what we have here.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: And we can figure out the little things much later down the line.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: If you wanted to, that is.
We’ll have to see about that
PLAYER_IDLE: We’ll have to see about that.
MARSHALL_IDLE: Indeed we will.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: We can figure out the little things later down the line.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I’m talking a lot and I don’t know if it’s making sense.
MARSHALL_EMBARRASSED: I don’t get like this, so I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.
MARSHALL_IDLE: And I should be terrified talking like this.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: And putting myself out there like I never have before.
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: But it feels right with you.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: And I’m not scared anymore.
MARSHALL_SERIOUS: I just hope I haven’t left it too late to show you the real me.
Marshall gazes into your eyes, honest, vulnerable, happy.
Kiss him
You lean in to meet Marshall’s lips. The kiss is surprisingly soft and delicate.
He gently caresses your hair, his hand resting lightly on the back of your neck.
He pulls back slightly from the kiss and looks deep into your eyes, more emotional than you’ve seen him before.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I just want to soak in this moment.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Oh really? Why’s that?
MARSHALL_FLIRTY: I’m just happy.
He leans back in and your lips connect, more passionately this time. Your tongue glides over his.
You clutch his hair, pulling him even deeper into this blissful kiss.
When you finally break away he kisses your cheek gently.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: You blow my mind, {0}.
Hug him
You lean in and cuddle him, burying your head in Marshall’s chest.
You can hear his heart beating fast as he envelops you in his strong tattooed arms.
He strokes your upper arm gently and sighs.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I could really get used to this.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Me too.
Play it cool
You hold Marshall’s eyes, giving nothing away.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: Whatever happens tonight, I’m touched you spent this time with me.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: It feels amazing to let you in, {0}.
I’ll pass
PLAYER_IDLE: I think I’ve heard enough for now.
MARSHALL_SAD: Ok, I get that.
You get up to leave, giving Marshall a little wave.
MARSHALL_HAPPY: I’ll catch you later, I’m sure you’ve got lots to think about.
PLAYER_IDLE: I really do.
{0} is sat on the side of the pool, his legs in the water. You approach him with a smile.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Hey, {0}.
PLAYER_IDLE: What ya doing?
{0}_HAPPY: I was actually just about to go for a swim.
{0}_IDLE: Trying to clear my head for the recoupling.
PLAYER_IDLE: Of course.
{0}_IDLE: So I can’t really talk right now.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve got lots on my mind.
PLAYER_IDLE: Oh, ok.
PLAYER_IDLE: I’ve got people to chat to anyway.
{0}_HAPPY: I’ll see ya later.
You hear a splash as {0} dives into the pool.
{0}_HAPPY: I was just about to come and look for you.
PLAYER_IDLE: Oh, were you?
{0}_FLIRTY: Firstly, I think it’s important to mention you in that challenge.
{0}_FLIRTY: I’m still catching my breath.
{0}_HAPPY: Like wow.
{0}_FLIRTY: I kept thinking how out of my league you were.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re top of the league for real.
So are you!
PLAYER_FLIRTY: So are you, you know!
PLAYER_FLIRTY: That’s why we go together. We’re both sitting pretty at the top.
{0}_HAPPY: Hey now, I’m supposed to be the charming one.
{0}_FLIRTY: You’ve taken my compliment and run with it.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Boys should get nice compliments too.
{0}_HAPPY: I’ll take it.
{0}_HAPPY: Humbly of course.
{0}_FLIRTY: Because I must be alright if a girl like you wants to be around me.
I know I am
PLAYER_IDLE: I know I am.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Gotta be confident in myself.
{0}_HAPPY: I love that about you.
{0}_FLIRTY: It’s a bonus to me that you’re a girl who knows her own worth.
{0}_HAPPY: It’s hot.
Not into that
PLAYER_IDLE: Nah, I’m not into that.
{0}_IDLE: Maybe I should’ve paid you a less football-specific compliment.
{0}_EMBARRASSED: Sorry, {1}.
{0}_IDLE: That was a miss.
{0}_IDLE: And that wasn’t meant to be a pun.
PLAYER_IDLE: Never mind.
{0}_FLIRTY: You made my jaw drop.
{0}_HAPPY: Was picturing you as the star of one of my skating vids.
{0}_FLIRTY: You’d look cute in a beanie and combats.
I’d be down
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I’m so down for that.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I’m an adventurous girl, I’ll try it.
{0}_HAPPY: That’s one of the things I love about you.
{0}_HAPPY: I can picture it now, you and I cruising the streets.
{0}_FLIRTY: The slickest couple around.
How did you get that idea?
PLAYER_IDLE: Where did that idea come from?
PLAYER_IDLE: Can’t have come from this outfit.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Cos that’s not the vibe I was going for…
{0}_IDLE: Ah, see, the vibe you give is I look incredible in anything anywhere.
{0}_HAPPY: Ya know?
PLAYER_IDLE: Makes more sense.
{0}_FLIRTY: From heart rate challenge straight to hoodies and hiker boots.
{0}_HAPPY: You got it all down.
No way
PLAYER_IDLE: That’s not gonna be for me.
PLAYER_IDLE: I’m not a skater girl.
{0}_IDLE: That’s cool, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: We vibe together and that’s what’s important.
{0}_IDLE: We can support each other in different ways.
{0}_IDLE: It’s all good.
{0}_FLIRTY: I was writing a thousand love songs in my mind whilst you were dancing.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re my inspiration.
I’m honoured
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Well, I’m honoured.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Catch me at all your gigs wearing faux fur and big sunnies, looking like a star.
{0}_FLIRTY: You’d always have a backstage pass.
{0}_HAPPY: And you can choose what’s on my rider.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Sounds perfect to me.
Give me an example
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Go on then, give me an example.
PLAYER_IDLE: I’m thinking back to your song before.
{0}_HAPPY: You were into it.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I was.
{0}_IDLE: You weren’t a fan.
PLAYER_IDLE: Unfortunately not…
{0}_HAPPY: I remember it left you speechless.
PLAYER_IDLE: It did!
{0}_IDLE: You know what?
PLAYER_IDLE: What?
{0}_HAPPY: I’m going to write them down and make a songbook for you instead.
{0}_FLIRTY: Keep it as a surprise.
Ew, no
PLAYER_IDLE: Ew, nope. I don’t want to be a muse.
PLAYER_IDLE: Sounds like too much pressure.
PLAYER_IDLE: I don’t want to be in the limelight like that.
{0}_IDLE: I’m definitely not that big yet, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: I guess I can’t help but be inspired by you.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re such a vibrant person.
{0}_FLIRTY: You were so magnetic.
{0}_FLIRTY: My eyes couldn’t leave you.
{0}_HAPPY: I kept thinking about all the places I’d whisk you away to.
{0}_FLIRTY: When we get out of here.
Let’s go
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Let’s go! You’ll fly me?
{0}_FLIRTY: Of course.
{0}_FLIRTY: First-class for you.
{0}_FLIRTY: Strawberries provided.
PLAYER_IDLE: Like on our first date?
{0}_FLIRTY: You know it.
Give me an example
PLAYER_IDLE: Give me an example? Where are you whisking me away to?
{0}_HAPPY: You must know I’d love to take you to where I grew up.
{0}_HAPPY: So, we’ll fly to Lisbon and drive out through the countryside.
{0}_HAPPY: You’d love it.
{0}_FLIRTY: The Portuguese countryside would suit you so well.
{0}_FLIRTY: You’d outshine it though.
{0}_HAPPY: You outshine everything.
That’s a bit hasty
PLAYER_IDLE: That’s a bit hasty.
PLAYER_IDLE: We’ll have a lot of other things going on when we leave the Villa.
{0}_IDLE: Oh, I don’t doubt that, {1}.
{0}_IDLE: But it’s definitely important that we take time to be together away from it all.
{0}_HAPPY: We can wait though.
{0}_IDLE: We’ll have plenty of time.
{0} sighs and shakes the water droplets from his hair.
PLAYER_IDLE: What’s up?
{0}_IDLE: I’m just trying to think of all the things I want to say to you.
{0}_IDLE: This is so important to me.
{0}_IDLE: You’re so important to me.
{0}_HAPPY: We’ve been on this journey together since day two.
{0}_HAPPY: We’ve been on this journey together since day one.
{0}_IDLE: Yes, there have been challenges.
{0}_IDLE: Elliot coming in, Ozzy being into you, Casa Amor, Movie Night…
{0}_HAPPY: But here we are.
{0}_IDLE: We keep getting drawn back together.
{0}_HAPPY: I knew it was you right from the start.
{0}_FLIRTY: Ever since you used that lawn like a catwalk.
{0}_FLIRTY: You played it so cool. It was super hot.
{0}_FLIRTY: Ever since you danced across the garden.
{0}_HAPPY: You fully charmed me.
{0}_FLIRTY: Ever since you slid into the hot tub with me.
{0}_FLIRTY: Ever since you splashed into the hot tub with me.
I knew too
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I knew it was gonna be you too.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Ever since you pulled my chair out on our first date.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Ever since you popped that first bottle of bubbly on our date.
{0}_HAPPY: When you know you know.
{0}_FLIRTY: And we both know.
{0}_HAPPY: I feel so lucky.
I didn’t know then
PLAYER_IDLE: I didn’t know back then.
PLAYER_IDLE: It takes me a bit longer to be sure.
{0}_IDLE: I get that, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: You really brought out my inner romantic.
{0}_FLIRTY: I love the way that feels.
I still don’t know now
PLAYER_IDLE: I didn’t know then and I’m still not sure now.
{0}_IDLE: That doesn’t change the way I feel about you.
{0}_IDLE: It sucks, but I can’t expect you to be on the exact same wavelength as me.
{0}_IDLE: I have to remember that everyone goes at their own pace.
{0}_HAPPY: All I can do is continue to tell you how it is for me.
{0}_IDLE: Then it’s up to you to decide what you want.
{0}_HAPPY: I do genuinely believe that you could be my soulmate, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: My squad would love you.
{0}_IDLE: And so would my nan.
{0}_IDLE: If I want to introduce a girl to my nan, I know she’s the one for me.
{0}_HAPPY: For me to say that is unheard of.
{0}_IDLE: I didn’t even know if I believed in soulmates before I met you.
{0}_IDLE: I take that really seriously.
{0}_HAPPY: I’ve been searching for you.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re the girl I’ve been writing songs about without even realising it.
{0}_HAPPY: I know what I want.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve got the life experience to truly know what I’m looking for.
{0}_HAPPY: You are the girl for me.
{0}_IDLE: No doubt in my mind.
{0}_HAPPY: You said on our first date that you believed in soulmates.
PLAYER_HAPPY: You remembered!
{0}_HAPPY: I heard that you do believe in soulmates.
PLAYER_HAPPY: How do you know that?
{0}_HAPPY: I pay attention.
{0}_HAPPY: I’m reminiscing about our first date now.
PLAYER_HAPPY: It feels like so long ago.
{0}_HAPPY: Like we’ve known each other forever.
{0}_HAPPY: Remember we talked about dream houses?
PLAYER_IDLE: I remember.
{0}_HAPPY: My house on the coast.
PLAYER_IDLE: With the dogs?
{0}_HAPPY: Exactly!
{0}_HAPPY: My swanky city penthouse.
PLAYER_IDLE: And the holiday home in the med?
{0}_HAPPY: That’s the one.
{0}_HAPPY: My cottage in the countryside.
PLAYER_IDLE: With your own recording studio?
{0}_HAPPY: That was it!
{0}_HAPPY: Would you live there with me?
{0}_IDLE: I know we talked about guilty pleasures.
PLAYER_IDLE: We did.
{0}_HAPPY: But I really wanted to talk about dreams too.
{0}_HAPPY: Because then I would’ve asked if you’d live in my dream house with me?
PLAYER_IDLE: What is it?
{0}_HAPPY: A little house on the coast. So we could go for walks on the beach.
{0}_HAPPY: A swanky city penthouse.
{0}_HAPPY: With a holiday home in the med.
{0}_HAPPY: A little cottage in the countryside.
{0}_HAPPY: With my own recording studio.
{0}_IDLE: I know we talked about our biggest fears.
I’d live there
PLAYER_HAPPY: I’d live there.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Sounds beautiful to me.
{0}_HAPPY: It would be even more beautiful with you by my side.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I could design the blueprints.
{0}_HAPPY: I was just going to say that!
I’d make a few changes
PLAYER_IDLE: I’d make a couple of changes here and there.
{0}_HAPPY: Of course, it would have to feel like a home for both of us.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I could design the blueprints.
{0}_HAPPY: I was just going to say that!
It’s too soon
PLAYER_IDLE: It’s far too soon to be thinking about stuff like that.
{0}_IDLE: You’ve got a point.
{0}_IDLE: Just wanted to chat about our dreams, I guess.
I’d live anywhere with you
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I’d live anywhere with you.
{0}_FLIRTY: And I’d live anywhere with you.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re more important than the house.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I could design the blueprints though.
{0}_HAPPY: I was just going to say that!
{0}_HAPPY: I’m reminiscing about our first date now.
PLAYER_IDLE: What about it?
{0}_FLIRTY: The bubbles, the strawberries, the excitement.
{0}_HAPPY: The moment my heart soared when you told me you were a foodie too.
{0}_HAPPY: The moment my heart soared when you told me you weren’t really a foodie.
PLAYER_IDLE: But you said you love cooking?
{0}_FLIRTY: Exactly! I get to introduce you to all my favourite dishes.
{0}_IDLE: I told you I was looking for a deep relationship.
{0}_IDLE: One that continues to burn after the initial excitement has settled.
{0}_HAPPY: I think we could have that.
I think so too
PLAYER_HAPPY: I think we could too.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: We do have a lot in common.
{0}_HAPPY: There’s something different about you, {1}.
{0}_FLIRTY: You’re exciting in so many different ways.
I’m not convinced
PLAYER_IDLE: I’m not convinced.
{0}_IDLE: We’ll never know if we don’t try.
{0}_IDLE: All I know right now is that you’re the one I want.
{0}_IDLE: That won’t change.
{0}_HAPPY: So I’ll have to try my hardest to make you see that.
It’s too early to tell
PLAYER_IDLE: It’s too early to know.
PLAYER_IDLE: We’d have to be together for a while to know for sure.
{0}_FLIRTY: That’s exactly what I want though.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I’ve got to catch a few more people before the end of today.
{0}_FLIRTY: Hang on a sec. You’re still glowing from the heart rate challenge, {1}.
PLAYER_IDLE: Am I?
{0}_HAPPY: Maybe you should stay and chat a little longer.
{0}_FLIRTY: I could raise your heart rate even more?
*I’d like that
PLAYER_FLIRTY: We can chat for a bit longer.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: If you let me get a little closer to you.
{0}_SURPRISED: Ah, gosh. I’m so sorry, {1}.
He takes his feet out of the water and comes to join you on the grass.
{0}_IDLE: Is that better?
That’s fine
PLAYER_IDLE: That’s fine.
{0}_HAPPY: Good, I promise to pick up on your signals in future.
{0}_FLIRTY: Because I very much want you to be closer to me.
I think we could get closer
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I think we could be closer.
{0}_FLIRTY: You don’t need to tell me twice.
He moves even closer to you, until his thigh grazes yours.
{0}_FLIRTY: This close?
PLAYER_FLIRTY: For now.
{0}_FLIRTY: Let’s talk a little more about the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge.
PLAYER_IDLE: What about it?
{0}_FLIRTY: How lucky am I that you married me.
PLAYER_IDLE: Hate to break it to you.
{0}_HAPPY: Yeah, yeah, I know it was just a game.
{0}_HAPPY: But still…
{0}_FLIRTY: You married me and I raised your heart the most with my smooth moves.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Modest.
{0}_FLIRTY: I’d make a hot groom.
{0}_IDLE: Yeah, I really am gutted that you didn’t choose to marry me.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: Oh!
{0}_IDLE: It’s ok, {1}.
{0}_IDLE: I keep bringing it up because I like you.
{0}_HAPPY: I see a future with you.
{0}_FLIRTY: Plus I’d make a hot groom.
Totally
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Totally, can see you in a tux.
{0}_FLIRTY: Full coat and tails.
{0}_HAPPY: Maybe a top hat?
PLAYER_IDLE: Erm…
{0}_HAPPY: Too far, too far.
{0}_HAPPY: You’d be a stunning bride though.
Bring on the wedding night!
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I say bring on the wedding night!
{0}_FLIRTY: Oh, heck yeah.
{0}_HAPPY: I like the way you’re thinking.
{0}_FLIRTY: Quick service, wedding buffet, memorable first dance, then privacy…
Woah, slow down
PLAYER_SURPRISED: Woah, slow down, {0}.
{0}_IDLE: Just playing, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: I know we’re a way off that kind of life event.
{0}_IDLE: But who knows what the future holds, right?
PLAYER_IDLE: True.
{0}_IDLE: I really can see a proper future with you though.
{0}_IDLE: Outside of here, I mean.
{0}_HAPPY: I think our hearts want the same thing.
PLAYER_IDLE: It’s hard to look past the villa sometimes.
{0}_HAPPY: Yeah, but that’s what makes me so sure about you.
{0}_HAPPY: I keep thinking about doing ordinary things with you.
{0}_IDLE: Us walking our pack of pups in the park. Getting ice cream and tossing a frisbee.
{0}_HAPPY: Us going on late-night drives through the city, music blasting.
{0}_HAPPY: Making our own mini everyday adventures.
{0}_HAPPY: Camping at music festivals together.
{0}_HAPPY: Or even watching them on the TV when we prefer a quieter weekend.
{0}_HAPPY: Cooking the sexiest meals together in our own kitchen.
{0}_HAPPY: Ordering in when we’re too tired.
{0}_HAPPY: You watching me mow the lawn with my shirt off.
{0}_FLIRTY: Or me watching you mow the lawn with your shirt off.
That sounds dreamy
PLAYER_HAPPY: That sounds like a dream.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I want somebody to do all those small everyday things with too.
{0}_HAPPY: Music to my ears.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: And I like the sound of the lawn care system.
{0}_FLIRTY: We can take it in turns.
That sounds like a nightmare
PLAYER_IDLE: That sounds sort of nightmarish.
PLAYER_IDLE: Not sure I’m ready for that yet.
{0}_IDLE: That’s ok.
{0}_IDLE: We can focus on what we have here.
{0}_HAPPY: And we can figure out the little things much later down the line.
We’ll have to see about that
PLAYER_IDLE: We’ll have to see about that.
{0}_IDLE: Indeed we will.
{0}_HAPPY: We can figure out the little things later down the line.
{0}_IDLE: I think you could be it for me though.
{0}_HAPPY: So I feel like I want to open up and tell you something about myself.
{0}_IDLE: Something I would usually be too guarded to say.
PLAYER_IDLE: What is it?
{0}_HAPPY: You know when I joke about you being too good for me?
PLAYER_IDLE: Yeah?
{0}_IDLE: Most of the time I’m trying to really big you up.
{0}_IDLE: Because you’re ridiculously attractive.
{0}_IDLE: But there really is a part of me that wonders why you like me.
{0}_HAPPY: I’m just regular old Lewie who loves football and visits his nan every sunday.
{0}_IDLE: Which I’m totally ok with.
{0}_IDLE: I just hope I can be enough for you.
PLAYER_IDLE: I see.
{0}_IDLE: I’m a free spirit, {1}.
{0}_IDLE: I never wanted to be tied down before.
{0}_EMBARRASSED: Or at least that’s what I was telling myself.
{0}_SAD: I kept making excuses as to why my other relationships didn’t work out.
{0}_IDLE: I thought I wanted to hop in and out of situationships.
{0}_IDLE: So I really pushed myself by coming into the Villa.
{0}_IDLE: I didn’t know what would happen, I thought it could be fun.
{0}_IDLE: But some small part of me wanted to find something real.
PLAYER_IDLE: Did you?
{0}_HAPPY: I found you.
{0}_IDLE: I’m a romantic guy.
{0}_IDLE: My songs are all about yearning for something.
{0}_IDLE: Yearning for an experience and a feeling that I hadn’t really ever had.
{0}_HAPPY: Until I met you.
{0}_HAPPY: You’ve kind of turned my world upside down actually.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve filled a whole songbook since I got here.
{0}_HAPPY: I can finally feel what it is that I’ve been writing about.
{0}_IDLE: Flying all over the world is a dream, don’t get me wrong.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve met so many wonderful friends through work.
{0}_IDLE: But I miss my family so much.
PLAYER_IDLE: It must be hard.
{0}_IDLE: It is.
{0}_SAD: I often feel unmoored without them.
{0}_HAPPY: I’ve been looking for a girl to build a home with.
{0}_IDLE: A girl who feels like home even.
PLAYER_IDLE: And…?
{0}_HAPPY: I’ve found her.
{0}_HAPPY: I think we’ll balance each other out.
{0}_HAPPY: We can push each other to go far.
{0}_HAPPY: Whilst reminding each other to stop and breathe and live in the moment together.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve never really had that.
PLAYER_IDLE: You think you’ve found it with me?
{0}_HAPPY: Yeah, this just feels so right.
Thanks for letting me in
PLAYER_HAPPY: Thank you for letting me in.
PLAYER_IDLE: It’s good to find out more about who you are and what you want.
{0}_HAPPY: Thank you for listening.
{0}_IDLE: I want us to be able to share things like that.
I think that was too much info
PLAYER_IDLE: That was a bit too much to take in right now.
{0}_IDLE: Maybe I overshared.
{0}_IDLE: I just wanted to let you in.
I can relate to that
PLAYER_IDLE: I can relate to that.
PLAYER_IDLE: It feels easier to be guarded, because we don’t know what to expect.
{0}_HAPPY: That’s exactly it.
{0}_IDLE: I feel like we get each other.
{0}_HAPPY: Wow, I need to shake myself.
{0}_FLIRTY: Your eyes are pulling me in.
Lean in and kiss him
You lean in to meet {0}’s lips. The kiss is tender and sweet.
His fingers trace your upper thigh as the passion builds.
You bring your hands up to clutch his hair, pulling him even deeper into this blissful kiss.
When you finally break away he kisses your cheek gently.
{0}_HAPPY: You blow my mind, {1}.
Lean in and hug him
You lean in and bury your head in {0}’s chest.
You can hear his heart beating fast as he envelops you in his strong arms.
He strokes your upper arm gently and sighs.
{0}_HAPPY: I could really get used to this.
PLAYER_HAPPY: Me too.
Dazzle him with your eyes
You gaze deep into {0}’s eyes, fluttering your lashes delicately.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Just trying to dazzle you for now.
{0}_FLIRTY: Consider me dazzled, captivated, and bewitched.
{0}_HAPPY: I’m honoured that you chose to spend this extra time with me, {1}.
I’ve got others to chat to
PLAYER_IDLE: I’ve got other people I want to talk to.
{0}_SURPRISED: Besides me?
{0}_FLIRTY: I reckon you could spare some more time.
{0}_FLIRTY: To get a little more comfortable, flirt a bit more…
*Let’s chat

{0}_HAPPY: I’m honoured that you chose to spend this extra time with me, {1}.
No thanks
PLAYER_IDLE: No really, I’ve got people to see.
{0}_IDLE: Ok, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: I love chatting to you.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I’ve got to catch a few more people before the end of today.
{0}_HAPPY: Sure, {1}.
{0}_FLIRTY: Just keep this conversation in your mind.
You leave {0} by the pool.
You find {0} chilling in the bedroom.
He sits up quickly and gestures you over.
{0}_HAPPY: I swear I wasn’t sleeping.
{0}_IDLE: Was just having a post-challenge rest.
PLAYER_IDLE: Whatever you say.
{0}_HAPPY: Though I have been known to take a daytime nap.
{0}_IDLE: As some of my gaming streams can go on pretty late.
{0}_HAPPY: Especially if I’m playing with someone in a different timezone.
{0}_HAPPY: When you travel a lot you have to grab sleep whenever you can.
{0}_IDLE: I’ve had many an airport nap.
{0}_HAPPY: I’m quite sure I nodded off on the back of a camel once too.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: That must have been uncomfortable!
{0}_HAPPY: It was alright once you got over the hump.
{0}_IDLE: Sometimes I have to steal a daytime nap if I’ve been working the late shift.
PLAYER_IDLE: Of course.
{0}_HAPPY: My friends joke that I nap like a cat.
PLAYER_HAPPY: In boxes?
{0}_HAPPY: If I’m being honest, yep.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: Really?
{0}_EMBARRASSED: Just once.
{0}_HAPPY: My dad bought a rowing machine and I was setting it up for him.
{0}_HAPPY: But the box looked so comfy, before I knew it I was having a power nap…
PLAYER_HAPPY: Probably because you work with cats.
{0}_HAPPY: I reckon so.
PLAYER_HAPPY: The more you know.
{0}_HAPPY: See, still plenty to learn about each other.
{0}_IDLE: How about you, anything I still don’t know?
I love writing people letters
PLAYER_HAPPY: Ok, let me tell you something cute.
{0}_HAPPY: Perfect.
PLAYER_IDLE: I still like writing letters.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I used to have a letter writing kit when I was a young girl.
PLAYER_HAPPY: And I loved using the little heart stickers and scented gel pens.
PLAYER_IDLE: I’d write to my best friends.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: And to my crushes.
PLAYER_HAPPY: And I still write to my friends even today.
{0}_HAPPY: That is proper adorable.
{0}_HAPPY: Potentially the most endearing thing I’ve ever heard.
{0}_IDLE: I think I’ll get back into letter writing now.
I think my neighbour is a secret agent
PLAYER_IDLE: Ok, I’ll tell you something quirky.
{0}_HAPPY: This should be good.
PLAYER_SERIOUS: I think my neighbour might be a secret agent.
{0}_HAPPY: What?!
PLAYER_IDLE: She always wears dark sunglasses and suits.
PLAYER_IDLE: She travels for long periods at a time.
PLAYER_IDLE: And I saw her hiding in a bush once.
{0}_HAPPY: I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, {1}.
You raise your eyebrows mysteriously.
PLAYER_SERIOUS: Exactly…
{0}_FLIRTY: Maybe you’re the agent?
PLAYER_IDLE: Perhaps.
I learnt to swim at 6 months old
PLAYER_IDLE: Ok, let me tell you something wild.
{0}_HAPPY: I look forward to this.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I learnt to swim when I was 6 months old.
{0}_SURPRISED: No way!
PLAYER_IDLE: I won a swimming medal when I was 2 years old.
PLAYER_HAPPY: I was basically a swimming prodigy when I was little!
PLAYER_HAPPY: And I’m still a very strong swimmer today.
{0}_HAPPY: Yeah, I’ve noticed you in the pool.
{0}_HAPPY: You never cease to amaze me, {1}.
Don’t tell him anything
PLAYER_IDLE: I don’t want to share anything right now.
{0}_IDLE: That’s cool.
{0}_HAPPY: I just like finding out more about you, that’s all.
{0}_HAPPY: I’m glad you came to find me.
{0}_IDLE: The final recoupling is definitely on my mind right now.
{0}_IDLE: I love being in a couple with you.
{0}_FLIRTY: And I think we’re on the right track.
{0}_IDLE: I love being in a couple with you.
{0}_IDLE: But I know your head might be elsewhere.
{0}_HAPPY: I want to be honest with you and say you’ve made my summer so special.
{0}_IDLE: Even though I came in whilst you were already in the midst of your villa journey.
{0}_HAPPY: I felt an instant connection with you.
{0}_IDLE: So I just wanted you to know that I'll be happy for you whatever happens.
PLAYER_IDLE: Thank you, {0}.
{0}_IDLE: And there must be a reason why you chose to twist with me.
And there must be a reason why you chose to stick with me after Casa Amor.
{0}_HAPPY: Yes, this is fresh and exciting.
{0}_IDLE: But it feels deeper to me.
{0}_FLIRTY: Every new thing I find out about you, makes me like you even more.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re a rare gem to me, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: You’re the north star to me, {1}.
{0}_HAPPY: We could be soulmates, {1}.
That’s so sweet
PLAYER_HAPPY: That’s so sweet of you to say.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I love a true compliment.
{0}_FLIRTY: The truth comes out when I’m looking at you.
That’s too much
PLAYER_IDLE: That’s a bit too much.
{0}_EMBARRASSED: It did sound a bit melty didn’t it.
{0}_IDLE: It’s how I feel when I’m around you.
{0}_FLIRTY: I’ve been wanting to talk about the heart rate results by the way.
{0}_HAPPY: I hope it’s not too forward but they seem like a sign?
{0}_FLIRTY: Made me feel pretty good to get your heart racing.
{0}_FLIRTY: And I’d actually love to raise your heart rate a little more.
{0}_FLIRTY: If you wanna stay a bit longer and chat?
*I’d like that
PLAYER_FLIRTY: We can chat for a bit longer.
PLAYER_FLIRTY: If you move over a little.
{0}_SURPRISED: Ah, gosh. I’m so sorry, {1}.
He shifts along the bed to give you space to scooch a little closer.
{0}_IDLE: Is that better?
That’s fine
PLAYER_IDLE: That’s fine.
{0}_HAPPY: Good, I promise to have more spatial awareness in future.
{0}_FLIRTY: Because I very much want you to be closer to me.
I think we could get closer
PLAYER_FLIRTY: I think we could be closer.
{0}_FLIRTY: You don’t need to tell me twice.

{0}_IDLE: Yeah, like how gutted I am that you didn’t choose to marry me.
PLAYER_SURPRISED: Oh!
{0}_IDLE: It’s ok, {1}.
{0}_IDLE: Maybe I’m a bit of an underdog.
{0}_FLIRTY: But I’d make a gorgeous groom.
Totally
PLAYER_FLIRTY: Totally, can see you in a tux.
{0}_FLIRTY: Full coat and tails.
{0}_HAPPY: Maybe a top hat.

{0}_HAPPY: So I feel like I want to open up and tell you something about myself.
{0}_IDLE: Something I’ve been too guarded to say before.
PLAYER_IDLE: What is it?
{0}_EMBARRASSED: I wasn’t very popular at school.
{0}_IDLE: I was nerdy and I didn’t have that many friends.
PLAYER_IDLE: Go on…
{0}_IDLE: That’s why I got into gaming.
{0}_IDLE: And why I bulked up.
{0}_SERIOUS: But I’ve been looking for somebody who I can really be myself around.
{0}_IDLE: A girl who takes an interest in what I like and vice versa.
{0}_EMBARRASSED: Although I’m always travelling, I can get pretty lonely.
{0}_IDLE: Even in some of the most beautiful places in the world, I still feel alone.
PLAYER_IDLE: Go on…
{0}_IDLE: My life can be so fast-paced.
{0}_IDLE: But I’m a chill guy.
{0}_SERIOUS: I’ve been looking for somebody who I can really be myself around.
{0}_IDLE: Somebody I can slow down with.
{0}_HAPPY: I want what my mum and dad have.
{0}_EMBARRASSED: I work a lot.
{0}_HAPPY: I love it and I feel so fulfilled when I’m helping animals.
{0}_IDLE: But I don’t really take time for myself.
PLAYER_IDLE: Go on…
{0}_IDLE: My life has a lot of things keeping me busy.
{0}_IDLE: And I like living like that.
{0}_FLIRTY: But I’m looking to definitely to open my life up more.
{0}_FLIRTY: And focus on a new relationship. Feels like it’s time.
{0}_IDLE: And I love your vibe.
{0}_HAPPY: We’re both ambitious people.
{0}_IDLE: I know you haven’t entirely figured out your career yet.
{0}_IDLE: But you’ve got that drive in you.
{0}_HAPPY: I think we’ll balance each other out.
{0}_HAPPY: We can push each other to go far.
{0}_IDLE: But we can also remind one another to have those beautiful, blissful slow moments.
PLAYER_IDLE: Like right now?
{0}_HAPPY: Yeah, this just feels so right for me.
Thanks for letting me in
PLAYER_HAPPY: Thank you for letting me in.

{0}_IDLE: Maybe I’m a bit of an underdog.
{0}_FLIRTY: But I’d make a gorgeous groom.

idk if you've mentioned it before, but what are your dreamies??
Hi anon!! Thanks so much for the ask
Right now I’m not really seeking out any specific villager!! Like I have an island of 10 villagers who I love, I have a good variation of species and personalities. It’s been like this since the spring and although I’ve moved a few people out and back in since then (I got Claudia to teach me the snooty reactions because I was literally missing all of them and Jeremiah lived here for a bit before going back to my friend’s island) I don’t really foresee myself changing anything now bc I’m so attached to the ones I have
Tumblr media
(Pic of the squad from April )
That said though, there are so many villagers I’d love to have and top of the list is probably Willow. She looks like a highlighter exploded and I absolutely love that for her, plus her catchphrase bo peep is adorable, she’s such a queen. She was at my campsite like a month ago and I was so sad I couldn’t take her. Marshal and Merry are 2 absolute cuties who I’d love to have, Coco is so unique, Pietro is an icon who I’d love to move in, Chrissy and Francine are so cute, Snake is literally so funny I’d love to have him, Sherb is such a sweetie, Henry, Ketchup, Tangy, Cookie, Flora, Merengue, Judy, Tia, Lily, Joey, Lolly, Mira, Tad, Audie, literally all the Sanrios, there’s so many amazing villagers 10 slots will never be enough </3
So to answer your question, I’m not really looking for anyone right now bc I don’t want to lose anyone from my island, but in the unlikely event Nintendo drops more housing slots out of the blue, Marshal, Willow, Snake, Sherb, Coco and the bubblegum sisters are probably top of my list!!
Thanks so much for sending an ask anon, this was so fun to answer so if anyone is curious about my acnh opinions feel free to send more :DDDD

hello! popping in to say that the Cody prompt (and the entirety of YMMF) is just mmm. chef’s kiss. honestly, mc in YMMF is living the dream. best of both worlds; soft and sweet praise with Rex one night and gettin’ railed by Cody or Wolffe the next... [deep dreamy sigh] I also can’t wait to see what you do with Fox- we’ve collectively decided that the corrie guards are Stressed 24/7 but is that gonna result in him taking it out on you, or you making him relax?
ANYWAY that’s not the point this was supposed to be about characterization for Cody and I think you’re spot on!
Cody is patient. he’s 100% the type to get you worked up and leave you hanging for hours just so he can punish you when you can’t take it. ofc it goes both ways, patience is rewarded and once he decides you’ve waited long enough he’ll rail you (Mr. Marshall Commander “authority-kink” Cody FUCKS, you can’t change my mind) or perhaps overstim you (because isn’t this what you wanted, baby? thought you wanted me to make you cum?)
he’s just smirking while you try to form a response (also 10/10 would give you condescending praise or very light degradation (stuffing that pretty pussy full was all it took to get you to shut up, hm? poor baby can’t even speak. you look so pretty like this, taking me so well.)
I also love the discussion of consent and safe words bc that’s something we don’t see a lot in fics these days and it’s important! I feel like Cody’s the type to have that discussion every time like even if you’ve established a d/s relationship and fucked more times than you can count, he’ll make you look him in the eye and repeat your safe words and ask if you really want this and then get back to business. (also, rolling your eyes or having an attitude when he asks is guaranteed to get you a punishment.)
that got really out of hand I apologize also some of it might be a little biased bc that’s what I want him to do to me hsjssm ^^ hope this helped! I know it’ll be great! <3
ryjdljdlhjfl thank you!!! I’m so glad that people really like it! I knew I couldn’t be the only one into that, but I didn’t figure on how many people were ghdkg
And oh yeah! Let’s be real, sometimes it’s not even a day between. Sometimes you get soft and sweet and then railed right after, or the other away around. It wouldn’t be a common occurrence, but it’d happen. It’d have to be Cody and Rex because I don’t think Rex would be willing to share to that degree with anyone other than Cody unless it was something Super Special like, say, a birthday. You might could get soft and sweet from Wolffe depending on the day he’s had/mood he’s in, but I can’t see him being okay with sharing if he’s in that kind of mood gdfkhd If Wolffe is sharing, he wants to make you cry from overstim I can’t tell you why I feel that I just do. As for Fox, it’s gonna be both. He’s going to want to be way more in control at first and then will slowly let you take the reigns. He doesn’t Trust Like That so he’s not going to give over any control until he’s sure that you’re not going to try anything
Thank you! I honestly appreciate that! It’s weird because I know I’ve got Wolffe’s voice even though I haven’t written much for him and haven’t published any of it. But for whatever reason, I just didn’t feel like I was getting Cody right ghfdj
Also. I want you know you just knocked me TF out with that. I’m gonna need a minute because WOOF
Thank you for that! It’s... I don’t want to say it’s a pet peeve of mine, but it does bother me a little when I see intense scenes written without talks of safe words? I know that it could have happened in the space before what was written, so I often try to assume that lol Not to get personal but scenes can get intense quick and fast and sometimes it just happens out of nowhere. Check-ins and having those things in place are necessary ESPECIALLY if you and/or your sub is prone to drop. You make think you’re fine during a scene and then it hits you after that oh, you really weren’t. That’s also why I had the reader check-in with Cody because Dom drop is also a thing, and it is AWFUL
And oh yeah, Cody would have that check-in. Cody is well aware that he can get intense, and he doesn’t want you to either feel like you have to do something or like you can’t get out of it. This is getting really specific, but I just see him having a slight preference for the color check-in? It gives him a better gauge of what’s going on, and it also gives you a better feel for if you’re okay with what’s going on or not. I’m very biased towards the color system if you can’t tell :p And oh yeah! If you give him attitude during a check-in ESPECIALLY the first one, you are in for it. Which lbr would be the entire reason to do that
And don’t apologize! You gave me feedback AND an opportunity to talk more about a fic and characterization! That honestly means so much to me I love it when you guys interact with me. And it helped me so much. I honestly feel like I have a better handle on him/more confidence when I write him because of this message jhgkd

Kells waking up in bed and he sees shady above him, making him freeze and start to feel scared as fuck, wondering how the hell did he even got into his hotel room. Shady grins while he runs his hands on Kells gorgeous body and starts to whisper the most direst things ever in his ear. Basically shady Finally getting his hands on the blonde after months of stalking
Okay, it took me a bit cuz I started it at 3 am, forgot i started it and then got a headache BUT--
Here it is! Sorry its a mess and ends so abruptly but I dont want to make too huge of a wall of text.
---
A dip in his bed and the audible clink of metal is what first startles Colson out of his slumber.
He's sprawled out on some admittedly comfy motel room bed, one arm stretched out above his head and the other resting on his stomach. Sleeping off a day long hangover instead of joining his band for a night of partying like he usually would.
Colson's first instinct when he hears the noise is to rub the sleep from his eyes, maybe scratch his nose and see what the hell has woken him up. But when he tries to move his left arm it catches. The clink of metal on metal repeating itself.
Now the rapper is rapidly tumbling towards awake, eyes blearily shooting open and his legs kicking free of the thin blanket.
The first thing he sees is a blurry figure looming above him, and it sets his heart off into a frenzy. Free hand slapping so hard against his eyes he might have given himself a bruise in his haste to rub them clear. "W-who in the fuck-"
"Settle down princess, don't want you hurting yourself….just yet." The voice is soft, amusement tinging the edges.
It's familiar, so familiar it sends a shiver down Colson's spine. There's no way he could mistake it for any other, not after years of listening to it blast on earbuds in his ears, the speakers of his car, fuck singing along to it.
It's Eminem.
Now with his vision settled there's a face matching the voice. Blue eyes looking near black from how dark the room is, most of face painted by shadows. The only reason Colson can recognize it is because of how often he's stared at pictures, videos, there's no way he could mistake the sharp nose and fuzzy cheeks for any other man.
Now his fear is mixing with confusion, anger, the barest hint of excitement. He almost wants to believe he's dreaming. How else would he be waking up in bed with his idol turned rival looming above him? It made no sense.
The bite of metal against his bony wrist destroys any chance of that. While he might have some kinky wet dreams every now and again, being handcuffed to his bed by Eminem was surprisingly not a common one. The opposite? Maybe once or twice. But this? This was absolutely terrifying.
"W-what are you doing in my room?" Colson hates how badly his voice cracks, it's still thankfully deep from his sleep but there's no way to hide the undertones of terror. "Is this- is this some kind of hit- fuck- are- are you here to murder me?"
Did his cocking off in the media finally cross some invisible line the older rapper had set? Was he actually about to get killed and have his body dumped somewhere like a scene out of an old gangster movie? Was Eminem that kind of rapper? One who preferred to do the dirty work himself instead of letting a lacky handle things?
A knuckle brushes across his cheek and makes him flinch. "Murder you? Hmm….I don't think I'm allowed to go that far." Colson's panic has officially risen to nightmarish levels. "Why don't we see how long it takes for me to get bored of you first?"
The hand tracing his jaw runs itself in a straight line down his exposed throat and past his collarbones. Nail digging into his pale skin just enough to scratch a light red line into his flesh. It's what finally makes him realize he's shaking.
"So white... your skin looks like its begging to be covered in bruises. Is that why you covered yourself in so many colorful tattoos?" Em hums curiously above him and Colson has to swallow the lump forming in his throat. Eyes wide and focused solely on the dark flutter of lashes covering the older rapper's own while he follows the path his finger takes down until it's pressing into the center of his stomach.
Pushing until he's got to suck in a breath just to relieve the pressure. "Cat got your tongue Kelly? You sure seemed vocal on all those talk shows. Couldn't keep Marshall's name out of your mouth."
The way Em refers to himself in second person is what finally startles a word out of his mouth. The paralyzing fear making way for a new wave of trembling confusion. "W-what?"
Em clicks his tongue above him and finishes his idle tracing to instead rub his whole palm up over the blondes sternum. Long fingers stretching open like he's testing his own grip span. "What? What?" The brunette mocks him lightly, fingertips tapping a tune into his collarbone for a minute before they continue their exploration. "I know you've steadily been melting your brain down into goo with drugs and alcohol but please tell me you're still capable of conversation."
"Fuck you-ah!" The same moment he gathers up enough courage to speak Em twists one of his nipples. Not hard enough to make him scream but enough for it to sting.
"Ah, ah, patience. We'll get to that eventually. For right now I want to get a good look at you, been thinking about scratching these tattoo's open for a while now."
Yanking hard on the cuff above his head Colson's fight or flight finally decides to kick in. Quite literally too with how his legs and back jerk to try and knock the other man off the bed and pull his wrist free.
Em only allows him to flail for less than a minute before suddenly thick thighs are slotting themselves over his thin hips. The heavy weight of another person bearing down on his own forcing his legs to still.
His upper body still twists and curls away from the pair of hands sliding their way up it. The laughter ringing out above him piercing his ears and body like a thousand knives. When Em's hands gently wrap around his throat it finally settles in for Colson just how utterly helpless he really is at that moment.
There's no escape readily available from whatever the older man has planned for him. It's got his heart thumping so hard in his chest he doesn't know how it hasn't already given out.
One last fruitless buck up to try and unseat the rapper just rewards him with that grip around his throat tightening. Calloused fingers digging into the sides of his throat and thumbs pushing against his adam's apple until he's gasping and choking. Free hand slapping up against a watch covered wrist and failing to find any purchase anywhere but the sleeve of the other man's jacket.
There's a second where his vision begins blacking out and his body goes limp that Colson actually thinks he's going to die. Sprawled out in his underwear on some egyptian cotton sheets and his lifelong idol straddling him to squeeze the life out of his body.
But then the pressure relents and his lungs are flooded with fresh air. Spit flying out of his mouth while he coughs and gasps, Em's hands moving to rub a comforting palm against his pec and cup his cheek.
The look on the other man's face is one of pure delight, eyes fluttering across his flushed cheeks and teary lashes until they settle on the thumb he's pressing into the bottom of Colson's lip.
"You're so much prettier gasping for air than I had imagined. All pink cheeked and wet lipped after just one minute," There's a sick dreamy quality to Em's voice that has his body trembling against his will yet again. "Ah, ah, don't get scared. I told you, I can't kill you this time. Marshall made himself very clear on that rule."
"Wha-" Colson's throat aches and his head still feels fuzzy but he forces out the question. "What does that even mean?"
Em's smile grows impossibly wider, thumb pushing its way inside the blondes mouth until he's tasting the salty pad of skin. "It means, you're dealing with Slim Shady baby-"
The responding crunch of his teeth around flesh just elicits another cackle. Now that Shady has Colson where he wants him the attempts at rebellion are nothing more than foreplay.
The funs just beginning.

How to Create Your Dream Dorm Room on a Budget
It's back to school time and you know what that means ...shopping! Decorating your dorm is one of the best parts of moving into college. Everything from the bedding to the wall decor can be so crucial to making a cold dorm room feel like your home away from home. However, sometimes you want to deck out your college dorm and you realize that your budget just isn't big enough to do a full MTV cribs style dorm. Well, don't despair there's an art to shopping for your college dorm if you don't have a lot of cash to throw around. I have a guide on everything you might need for college but this is strictly about the fun stuff… Decor!
So let's get into my tried and true broke girl hacks for creating your dream dorm room.
Pick a Color Scheme Not a Color Theme
By choosing a mixture of 3 or 4 colors that go together you not only give yourself more options to choose from when shopping but it's easier to have your room look put together and like it was planned out as opposed to just picking a blue theme and having everything in your room be monochromatic. The key to nailing a good scheme is picking one or two complementary colors and two neutral colors to set the stage. For my dorm room, I chose lavender, blush, white and grey and everything blended seamlessly to create a dreamy relaxing dorm room.
Use Wallpaper
wallpaper is making a come back and it is an inexpensive way to cover those yucky dorm walls and add a bit of pizazz. Most college dorms will allow this since it is removable and that means you can go ham with whatever color or pattern you like. You can go about this in two ways 1) use the wallpaper as a statement pieces and go neutral for other decors 2) do a simple wallpaper that's the perfect backdrop for a statement piece like bedding. My roommate did this with brick wallpaper she got from Target and it was beautiful.
Invest in Your Bedding
I know you might be thinking how does this make sense if I'm on a budget? But I'm here to tell you that knowing where to put your money in the decor process is just as important as knowing where to compromise. Having beautiful bedding can make or break your room and it hides/overpowers any inexpensive decor you might have. You don't have to dish out $100 on a nice bedding set but getting a good one for like $4 from your local Tj Maxx, marshalls or target can amplify your bedroom. My tip for this is to pick you patter wisely. Make sure it has one or two of your theme colors and also go for a fabric that isn't too thin and flat.
Consignment Shop for Wall Decor
I know target sucks all of us in with its perfectly curated wall decor but wall decor should be like less than 10% of your budget. Go to your local goodwills or thrift stores first to find some super inexpensive wall decor. Other stores like the dollar store, five and below and Walmart are great places for wall decor too. Just remember if it looks cheap and is cheap it isn't a deal. The trick for shopping at these stores is looking for gems that seem way nicer than their price. Just because it is inexpensive doesn't mean it has to be “cheap” looking. Also, the less is better even if your doing a gallery wall, look for a few good pieces as opposed to get a lot of cheap junk that you don't end up putting up.
Function and style= Smart Shopping
while it may not be as exciting to shop for the organizational stuff, who says that can't be decor as well? Simple things like a laundry hamper or a lamp can add major mojo to a room. The key to this is you don't want to prioritize function over style because that's a waste of money in the long run. Other tips are to not necessarily get those things in your theme color but instead go for a vibe. Example instead of getting that pink hamper, get a super glam to hamper that adds to the feminine style of your room. Focus on adding to the feel of your room with these items and not just getting it in your “theme” color.
There are so many more nitpicky things you can do to make your dorm room amazing but these are the biggest one that I've seen make a difference in my friend's dorm room and also my own. Let me know if you have any dorm decor tips of your own and remember to focus on creating a dorm room that has a vibe you like being in rather than just aesthetically pleasing.
I’ll see you in the next one,
Xoxo

OR
99K for whole RV set if you're low on MEOW coupons! //I don't mind getting them, but I lose time & profit from landscaping & daily tasks to TT so that's why it's fairly high! Sorry. ;u;// Wishlists items will be accepted too, but more needed then just a regular RV visit.
URL: @oddrs
Ask Box/IM Link: IM Only
Friend Code: 3282 - 5735 - 1409
Note: PLEASE DO NOT ENTER MY TOWN WITHOUT NOTICE!! I had several contacts before, & my gate will generally be open, but please don't enter without my say so as it's rude to not only me, but the people who are waiting their scheduled turns. I do RV visits one by one or group if there's a common popular character. Thank you for understanding.
Etoile is unavailable due to her being a villager in my town, but I have some extra furniture from her RV, so feel free to ask about that! If you only need one or two items from the RV, mention it so I can get it rather then having to pay full. If I run out of tickets, you’ll have to pay full, sorry, it’s first come, first serve basis. I’m currently redoing it, but I would prefer to trade in my town, so my path & the such are rather chaotic. Please do not talk to my villagers during your visit! (Time zone is Central)

Personal Pitch’s Top Albums of 2017
By Stephan Masnyj
As a DJ at a radio station and a self-professed lover of music, discovering new music is a necessary part of my daily routine. I couldn’t even begin to tell you the countless hours that have been spent scouring the internet for new music to listen to, or the innumerable amount of drives to work that have been spent intently listening to a new record front to back. Throughout this year there were a startling number of albums that stood out. In what is always a welcome challenge, I’ve narrowed down my list to ten albums that I’ve found to be the most essential, or the ones that have simply affected me the most on an either emotional or artistic level. Here they are, fitted with my own, relatively young-aged ramblings.
10. Father John Misty: Pure Comedy
When Father John Misty garnered widespread critical and commercial acclaim for his previous record, “I Love You, Honeybear,” nearly every mention of the record involved the searing sarcasm in Tillman’s writing throughout. It was simply impossible to ignore; the record was a brilliant, simultaneous embrace and takedown of the very foundations and flaws of love that we’ve come to know in society — all delivered through the lens of his own personal experiences with his wife. In contrast, “Pure Comedy” feels decidedly different in tone. Tillman’s voice, both in physical strength and as a writer, are the same, yet these songs profess an earnestness and straight-faced delivery that hasn’t been seen on previous records. However, this newfound approach doesn’t sacrifice anything in the way of songwriting quality; Pure Comedy is filled with beautiful orchestral arrangements and searing commentary on the foundations of society that humanity exists upon. “I hate to say it, but each other’s all we got” Tillman murmurs towards the end of the title track. In Tillman’s eyes, humanity’s problems aren’t a laughing matter anymore.
9. Sampha: Process
For years, Sampha was the Stanley Tucci of R&B. That isn’t meant to be a negative comment — it’s actually a compliment in some sense. He was always a scene stealer in his features, with his unique voice conveying a loneliness and hurt that a singer like Drake could only dream of. So it was refreshing to finally see Sampha come into his own this year with his debut record, “Process.” The record could have easily leaned on his gorgeous voice and kept it simple in it’s arrangements, but the album is littered with inventive samples (Under), looping synths (Reverse Faults), and dynamic percussion (Kora Sings, Blood on Me). The final song, “What Shouldn’t I Be?” is a meditation on how long it took for him to reach this point. While Sampha asks himself the question multiple times throughout the track, the answer to the question is clear; nothing.
8. Broken Social Scene: Hug of Thunder
There was a period of time where people thought that a new Broken Social Scene record wouldn’t happen. Feist had gone on to sell thousands of records on her own, Kevin Drew had made a solo record and began producing other people’s records, and the rest of the group had largely settled into their own projects. So when “Hug of Thunder” was announced, there was a mix of relief and trepidation; could BSS produce another record that stood with their previous efforts? The answer was a resounding yes; Broken Social Scene continue to do what they do best and produce thrilling, shout-along anthems that could only be fully fleshed out by a 16-person (!!!) band. The lyrics are often inscrutable or inconsequential, but who cares? When these songs are blasting through your car speakers as you speed down the highway, they sound like the only thing that matters.
7. King Krule: The Ooz
In the lead up to King Krule’s debut record, “6 Feet Beneath the Moon,” his website was adorned with city camera of London late at night. Through the eerie black and white lens, the city felt seedy and dangerous; as if a monster was lurking just beneath the camera’s line of sight. This uneasy, dark world is where Archy Marshall takes us throughout his second album. More than any other record I listened to in 2017, it felt like entering an entirely different universe. The 19 songs function more as mood pieces rather than any identifiable radio single. The instrumentation adopts a mix of hip hop beats that sound as if they’ve been submerged underwater, cocktail jazz saxophone, and discordant guitars that sound purposefully out of tune. In the center of it all is Marshall’s distinct voice; a baritone that can be seductive one minute and downright primal the next. The record’s emotional core is the turmoil Marshall felt in the previous 4 years, through an ill fated relationship and the mental burden of following up a stellar debut. It’s a visceral, uncomfortable listen. But to paraphrase Archy himself, it’s fascinating to hear this young man describe his emotional state as he slips into filth, lonely but surrounded.
6. Tyler, the Creator: Flower Boy
Whenever Tyler, the Creator would release a record following his breakthrough “Goblin” in 2011, the question always remained the same: When will he finally grow up? His talent was always palpable, the dizzying raps in “Yonkers” and the emotional story in “48” showed his talents as a writer, and his growing production credits on “Wolf” and “Cherry Bomb” showed that he had a distinct style within his musical repertoire. Yet he always fell back on his worst tendencies; frequently using homophobic slurs or creating worthless posse cuts that did nothing but ruin the flow of his records. All of that changed with “Flower Boy,” easily his most cohesive and mature record to date. Much has been said about his alleged coming out in the record (a subject that Tyler has remained mum on since the album’s release), but it isn’t stated enough just how wonderful this record sounds. The strings and horns that dot highlight “See You Again” are stunning, and the queasy synths that Tyler has used in the past take on a new urgency on “I Ain’t Got Time.” Every single rap, beat, and instrument inform each other throughout the record, and not a single thing sounds out of place throughout. “Tell these black kids they can be who they are,” raps Tyler on the highlight “Where the Flower Blooms.” For the first time in his career, Tyler sounds like he’s living those words to the fullest.
5. (Sandy) Alex G: Rocket
More than any other record this year, I think I experienced the most joy and wonder by repeatedly listening to Alex G’s “Rocket.” The songs, while simple, sound absolutely timeless to me. “Proud” sounds like a drive out on the open countryside. “Big Fish” sounds like a quiet confession of strength to a father. “Powerful Man” sounds like a tearjerking show of emotional maturity to a skeptical family. While Alex has always been lauded for his songwriting chops (even earning a Frank Ocean co-write in the process), this is the first record that feels like it has emotional heft to it. It doesn’t hurt that stylistically it’s his most diverse; the songs move from string-fueled country (Bobby) to cocktail jazz (County) and brutal hardcore (Brick) all in the span of ten minutes. It’s a jarring and exhilarating listen, and the sound of a young songwriter stretching his limits and realizing that he has none.
4. Lorde: Melodrama
It’s often said your teenage years are some of the most formative you’ll experience in your life. It’s the period of time where nothing quite makes sense; you begin to find your own personal identity while fumbling through school, relationships, and friendships. Throughout it all drugs and alcohol are likely introduced for the first time, leading to nights to remember and often nights you wished never happened. This tenuous time period is the playground for Lorde’s “Melodrama,” an absolute stunner of a pop album in both composition and execution. The main narrative surrounding Lorde’s rise to prominence has been her authority for her age (as of now, she is 21), and that has never been more apparent than her clear-eyed analysis of teenage years on this record. “Homemade Dynamite” dissects the social dynamics and self destructive tendencies people often have during a party with surgical precision, while “Supercut” takes a relationship in retrospect and understand that memories of a lost lover usually have a rose-colored tint to them. The most stunning cut on the record is “Writer in the Dark,” a song that embodies the hate, regret, and mourning that often comes directly after the end of the relationship. The way Lorde is able to thread the needle between all the separate emotions throughout the verses and chorus is nothing short of stunning, and her vocal delivery delivers an emotional depth Adele would kill to have. With “Melodrama,” Lorde asserts herself at the top of pop’s ever-changing landscape, and I can’t think of a more exciting, capable person to be at the top of it right now.
3. Kendrick Lamar: DAMN.
Did any other record this year dominate quite like DAMN.? It felt absolutely inescapable. “Humble” dominated the radio airwaves, “DNA” dominated any sports highlight reel, and “Loyalty” felt like it blasted out of every car speaker this summer. From my perspective, it’s weird to think of Kendrick at the top of the pop charts; I always saw him as a supremely talented artist who’s ambitions ran deeper than pop radio. However, it turns out Kendrick can release pop hits while still maintaining the endless depth his raps often do. “Humble” is both a boast and a self-aggrandizement in the form of a three minute pop song. “DNA” is a firestorm of a rap that examines the good, bad, and ugly that exist within all of us. Elsewhere, “Pride” is a dreamy meditation on how our stubbornness can get the best of us. The human condition is at the center of all of the songs on DAMN., and Kendrick analyzes every component with an almost incomprehensible talent. In a surprising turn of events, by becoming larger than life, Kendrick Lamar feels more human than ever.
2. The National: Sleep Well Beast
I can’t think of a band that embodies the low, sinking feeling of sadness quite like The National. It’s embedded so deep within their DNA that it’s almost impossible to shake. Not to say that this is a bad thing; The National have consistently produced some of the most emotionally affecting records of my lifetime. Yet there was a question of whether their formula would eventually run stale after their previous record, “Trouble Will Find Me.” However, “Sleep Well Beast” has the band at the absolute top of their game both lyrically and instrumentally. Simply put, the band hasn’t sounded this energized in years. More than any other record in their discography, Sleep Well Beast hews closest to their under the radar masterpiece, Boxer, in both consistency and quality. Boxer’s most alluring trait was the ability to capture the low buzzing anxiety and depression that takes hold once people realize how their adult lives are beginning to take shape in themselves and everyone around them. There’s a thread of insularity that connects Sleep Well Beast to the 2007 record; a sense of internal acceptance that the feelings of discomfort expressed ten years ago don’t really go away, but rather evolve and manifest themselves in different ways as we age. “I’ll still destroy you someday/Sleep well beast, you as well beast” are the last words Berninger intones on the record. While it may be easy to write the comment off as a signal of resignation, in context it feels like a quiet, confident victory. We’d be remiss to think of the album as anything different.
1. LCD Soundsystem: American Dream
The notion of the “American Dream” is a loaded concept. What does it mean? Is it the same thing for everyone? Is it possible to achieve it? James Murphy’s latest masterpiece answers all and none of these questions, at least not directly. If anything, the record talks about something that we all do nearly everyday of our lives; sleep. Sleep exists everywhere on this record, and within different forms. It’s presented in the form of bad dreams (Oh Baby), a product of crippling anxiety (I Used To, Change Yr Mind), death (Black Screen), and even it’s very existence taken as an offense (How Do You Sleep?). I would imagine sleep would not be at the center of many people’s American dream, but maybe that’s the key conceit in Murphy’s theme here. We all want the success that we crave in our wildest dreams, the ability to conquer our fears, and to reach the highest peaks of our respective careers. But what we don’t realize is what it often takes for us to get there. The crippling anxiety that’s littered throughout the process. The sleepless nights. The dissolved friendships that initially seemed unbreakable. The hangovers. The deaths of loved ones. Murphy for all intensive purposes may have achieved his dreams. He’s had a #1 album, sold out Madison Square Garden, and has been a critical darling and cultural tastemaker for the better part of the last 15 years. But he knows more than anyone all the baggage that comes with it, and it’s all presented here in a gloriously funny, heartbreaking, stunning record. There was a long period of time where I never thought I’d here another new LCD Soundsystem album. Turns out dreams really do come true.

“Summer No. 74″ — Day 3 — 4,922/50,000
Behind the house the sun was making itself known. Still behind the horizon, or maybe just the hills and trees. Judy preferred the hills, the trees. Sitting here on the old sofa staring into the morning night, not hung over but a few inches of center, she remembered the trip she made in high school to see her dying great-grandmother. This was the first time she’d travelled with her mother’s fiancé. The three of them drove through the secretive evil hills of North Georgia, through the softer evil hills of Alabama, the evil flat forests of North Mississippi, then the in the flat evil of Louisiana and finally arrived in the unending plains of North Texas. Judy and her mother hadn’t gone west for at least 5 years, when she was 12 or so, at which time Judy was so spiritually desolated that she never took in anything around her.
They went back and forth between a now estranged uncle’s home (suburban and unthinkably ugly, an arrangement of blocks with tremendous pitched ceilings) and a hospice center (just typically ugly, like all spaces in the thrall of death). On the last visit to the hospice center, Judy knew she’d be seeing her great-grandmother for the last time. The air on this February day was empty and vicious. Out the window, she saw the barrenness of the plain. On the horizon she saw a few little hills, undeniably just a subdivision, and then it all came together. This was a death. A dry, indifferent, wintry flatness.
A drop of an adult beverage, “the ol’ glug glug” in Jeremy’s terminology, and Judy was up at 6 on the dot. When she was up this early, Judy came out to sit on the damp couch and through the screen of tree limbs watch the world wake up. Already a pair of laborers had passed by, talked about how bad the bus schedule on this side of town was. Then there were the joggers that always caught their breath sitting on the half rotted log next to the road. Then the cyclist. Now, a break in the activity. Around 7:10, another batch of joggers, then students heading to their 8 AMs, and then and then and then. Sometimes it felt overwhelming, but Judy loved the endless procession of the world, of people’s elaborating on the business of their lives. Judy, for her part, felt most in herself running errands, Making Phone Calls, the kind of silly day-to-day shit that makes it possible to take care of her self. If she could tend to her body, broken and miserable as it was, then everything else was more tolerable.
Finally awake enough, caffeinated enough, Judy gave some brain space to last night. After drinking and showing each other different playlists on their phones, they played with the BB gun and shot all their bottles apart, the front yard turned over to glass and pellets.  Kathleen got the PS2 she kept in her backpack and showed Judy and Jeremy this thing she found in Final Fantasy XII, then Ken in their sports bra and boxer briefs gave a reading of some choice passages from The Uncollected Dan Brown. Around 2 they all fell asleep cuddling on the futon Judy unfolded in her room. Who could want for more?
Well, more sleep and something to eat. Judy was hungry and feeling sort of queasy from all the coffee. She fried an egg in butter until it was crisp and terrible, then ate it on a dry piece of wheat toast. Even though her hand was a bit shaky from the coffee, she closed her eyes on the loveseat. In a caffeine dream, several dozen read lines expanded and contracted to a song that did not sound like, but that definitely was, “Take My Breath Away.”
The she gasped away as Kathleen shook her and said loudly, “Judy!” Judy sat up so quickly that her and Kathleen hit foreheads. There was a ‘Klonk.’ Jeremy was rocking back and forth while sitting on the arm of the loveseat, and the arm rocked with him. “What time is it,” Judy asked, her voice half of a groan. Judy reached for her phone and saw that it was 7:30 AM, she’d been asleep only about 20 minutes. “We’re going to go hang out with Marshall at the bakery for a while and then head over to the print shop,” Kathleen said with a sleepy dreaminess, “Do you want to come with us?” Judy smiled slightly at the idea, then, propped on an arm of the loveseat, saw the washing machine. “Ughhhh. I gotta do a few chores, for moving out. I’ll come in around….1? Is that okay?” Jeremy leapt to his feet— “1! You want to come in at…1??” A pause. “Yeah 1 o’clock should be fine.” Kathleen nodded in agreement. “Yeah, come on in at 1. We’ll save you something.” Kathleen hugged Judy and gave her something between a peck and brush on the cheek— sensuous.
When she heard the door close, Judy sat up and stared at the floor. She stared at it some more. Then she went and ran the load of clothes she’d left in the washer the day before. She played a Match 3 game on her phone for a while then closed herself inside her room. She still couldn’t imagine that she was leaving, and that this room, with its rough wooden floors that slanted at a different angle at every point in the room. She decided to smoke a cigarette in her room as a dumb, minor act of having been here. Paint flakes fell like pollen as Judy opened the old window, lit a cigarette and hunched out into the hot heat. The A/C chugged like a train, nearing it’s fifth death of the summer. Soon, she’d be back at her hometown, bored and belabored. No more waking up at 2 PM, or crying in front of the gas station, or setting off fireworks in the clearing by the tracks. Misery! Her bare torso scraped against the wood of the windowsill, splinter lodged in her rib. “How overloaded. This window is a rotting Longinus,” Judy said aloud to her empty house. Thinking about this summer, she felt the way it’d been a folding and folding of stereotyping, the sadness, the flatness, the seeming meaningless days punctuated by overloaded nights. In spite of that, in spite of the way she could feel herself rubbing against the walls of possibility, she felt good that she knew that, at least— that there could have been more. She wanted to feel the regret raher than not know there was something worth regretting. And she dreaded going home, and being in her old room, and her mother’s ex-husband, and the starchy traffic jams near public schools, and she dreaded being aware from her friends, even if it was only an hour away. An hour in any direction anywhere on the world could mean anything. An hour north or south or earlier or later, it mattered. Judy moved her laundry.
The book return slot on the exterior of the library had been bolted shut for the last month. Judy walked into the air conditioning— noon and the heat outside was in its full swing— and felt the slight quiet pleasure of being in a pretty public library. This one was late modernist, low ceilings and wide avenues, with a few po-mo touches for new public study rooms. She approached the front desk and the librarian on duty, a soft-faced man with a piece of paper taped to his light jacket saying “He/Him Pronouns.” Judy made sure to give off extremely transgender energies.
“Hi, how can I help you today?” The librarian was in a brief mood. Judy set the books, close to tumbling, onto the desk. “Hey, I need to return these books.” “Ok. Let’s see here,” and he swiped book after book across a red light scanner. Each book was accompanied by a throaty bark that Judy (shrewd one) figured meant they were overdue. This would be a thing.
“Are you aware that this books are overdue, some of them by several months?” The librarian was bored and a bit acidic.
“I’m not, um, surprised. What’s the fine?”
“Seventy-four dollars and thirty-one cents, exactly.”
“Well. Interesting. Anyway, they’re not mine, so, I’ll, uh try to get in touch with my friend about it. Umm, I’ll try calling him now, actually. Let me step outside.”
The librarian was unconvinced but turned back to his work. Judy rushed back to her car and exhaled from how hot it’d already gotten. She drove back home and stuffed the laundry, mostly dried, into a trash bag. While there, Dani came from her room. “Hey. So, I was at the Little Roll this morning, and saw Jeremy and Kathleen.” “Oh,” Judy asked, trying to get a read on Dani’s ambiguous tone.
“Yeah.”
“Uh, okay,” Judy said, sort of offput. Dani walked back into her room and shut the door. Judy checked her room to make sure there was nothing else to take down to the donation center. She remembered there was a stack of records in her trunk that her old roommates had given. No doubt they were now melted. She brushed aside the thought of looking at them.
Even having done so little in this crusty house, time had gotten away from her. Judy threw her bag into the backseat and drove to the big donation center.

10) Sleep — The Sciences [Third Man Records]
San Jose psych-doom power trio Sleep have emerged from the purple haze to release “The Sciences,” their fourth studio record — their first in nearly two decades — giving stoner rock fans everywhere 53 glorious minutes of dark, dank, primordial heaviness that few if any bands can deliver. Anchored by Jason Roeder’s surgical-strike stickwork and vocalist Al Cisneros’ syrupy, sludgy, downtuned bass, master axe-smith Matt Pike plows through the kind of menacing riffs one can imagine flying off Hephaestus’ anvil as he’s forging Poseidon’s new trident — just as the god of the sea is packing his bags (and bowl) for a journey into the deep.

9) Mojo Juju — Native Tongue [ABC]
Born in Australia of mixed heritage — Aboriginal (Wiradjuri) and Filipino — Mojo “Juju” Ruiz de Luzuriaga, in her third full-length LP, digs deep into race, family, immigration, colonialism, identity politics and Indigenous heritage across 16 soulful, sultry, deeply personal and exquisitely original tracks that stretch across styles, genres, vibes and even languages. In a troubling era where xenophobia is on the rise, “Native Tongue” deftly explores what it means to be “the other.” “Just because you own the airtime, you think you own the sky,” she proclaims on “Think Twice,” lassoing a global Zeitgeist that is impossible to ignore — and making it far groovier than anyone thought it could be.

8) JPEGMAFIA — Veteran [Deathbomb Arc]
For his third studio album “Veteran” (a reference, at least, to his four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force), the 28-year-old mad-scientist glitchcore rapper/producer JPEGMAFIA (aka Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks) pulls out all the stops and then some to deliver one of the most distinctive hip-hop albums in years — if his wild and wooly aural experiments can even be considered hip-hop at this point. Vulcanic bass lines slither over shattered post-industrial beats as the New York native, now based in Baltimore, stretches his restless, inquisitive mind (he has a master’s degree in journalism), riffing on such far-ranging matters as Defense Department discharge forms and the fashionista handbags made famous by singer Jane Birkin (the one-time collaborator/lover of Serge Gainsbourg). The production is totally frikkin’ insane; the samples alone set him apart, from the bizarre epiglottal workout (a looped ODB vocal) that snakes through “Real Nega” to the brilliant rapid-fire Bic pen-clicking in “Thug Tears,” which triggered, at least in one fan, an ASMR (“autonomous sensory meridian response”), the unique auditory-tactile synaesthetic feeling of euphoria that has been used to describe a “spine-tingling” event. In fact, the whole 47-minute affair is fairly spine-tingling — and a bit bone-rattling, too. (h/t: JF)

7) Art Brut — Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! [Alcopop!]
The Berlin- and London-based art-punk quintet comes crashing back after seven years of silence with their exuberant, hook-laden fifth studio LP, a tightly-wound 35 minutes jam-packed with gorgeously odd, party-ready, rock-steady mini-anthems with more horns, harmonies, group ah-ahs and sing-alongs than your drunken final campfire jam at band camp. Cheeky speak-singer Eddie Argos keeps things humming along with blisteringly droll deliveries of super-catchy, instant-classic lines. “I hope you’re very happy together, and if you’re not, that’s even better,“ he sniggers to an ex-lover in what could be the most gleeful break-up song ever written. In “Too Clever,” Argos distills the waggish self-reflexivity that has been his touchstone since the band emerged 14 years ago: “Sometimes the smartest man in the room would rather be outside — howling at the moon … Ah-woo!” Press play and let the bad/good times roll...

6) Young Jesus — The Whole Thing Is Just There [Saddle Creek]
For their third studio album, art rockers Young Jesus have crafted fresh, expansive highways and byways across the musical map. Ranging like the plains of boozy philosopher-poet bandleader John Rossiter’s Midwestern roots — and shot through with the jazz-inflected post-rock his Chicago hometown made famous — “The Whole Thing Is Just There” shows the now Los Angeles-based four-piece at their edgy-yet-dreamy, exquisitely exploratory best. Enveloped by a spacious production, Rossiter muses nimbly, often ironically, over complex arrangements interspersed by instrumental improvisations, with angular shards of guitar peppering lush soundscapes. “If saints aren’t given voice to teach of burns, we’re led to blood periphery,” he warns on the brooding, labyrinthine opener “Deterritory,” before the band opens the throttle and doesn't let up for the rest of this multifaceted 49-minute masterwork.

5) Daughters - You Won’t Get What You Want [Ipecac]
The hyper-intense post-grindcore noise mavens from Providence come out swinging on their fourth studio full-length (their first after an eight-year hiatus), showing that age hasn’t mellowed them out one bit. Above droning swirls of machine-edged walls of guitar, monomaniacal tank-tread basslines and call-to-battle drums, lead caterwauler Alexis S.F. Marshall lords over a gathering storm, slinging scorching, misanthropic observations of humanity’s dark side. “It may please your heart to see some shackled, wrists and throat, naked as the day they were born,” he howls on “Long Road, No Turns.” For 48 grinding, often terrifying minutes, Daughters exercise a powerful, all-consuming yet controlled cacophony — the kind of music killer hornets must listen to when they swarm. Still, there are intermittent flashes of beauty amidst the menacing Sturm und Drang of this post-apocalyptic wasteland, like one of those hornets pausing on a lonely flower, drawing a touch of sweet nectar before buzzing off for the kill.

4) Unknown Mortal Orchestra - IC-01 Hanoi [Jagjaguwar]
While recording their fourth full-length “Sex and Food” (also released this year) in such far-flung locales as Mexico City, Seoul, Reykjavik, Auckland and Portland, Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson (guitar, bass), his brother Kody (drums) and their father Chris (keyboards, flugelhorn, saxophone — the latter two often patched through effects) found themselves hunkered down one night in Hanoi. There the wandering New Zealand minstrels met up with Vietnamese musician Minh Nguyen (on sáo trúc, a traditional Vietnamese flute) for a casual jam at Phu Sa Studio. What emerged from that session are seven inspired tracks of sexy, smoky, brooding, propulsive Miles Davis-inspired exploratory improvisation. “IC-O1 Hanoi” may only clock in at 28 minutes, but it unfurls otherworldly mood for miles.

3) Jeremy Dutcher — Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa [Independent]
Toronto-based operatic tenor, pianist, composer, ethnomusicologist and Indigenous activist Jeremy Dutcher mines his First Nations roots for his striking, inspirational debut, a labor of love that is the culmination of five years researching and transcribing the traditional music of the Maliseet, an Algonquian people of New Brunswick, Quebec. “When I first got to hear these voices, that work for me was a profoundly transformational moment in my life,” he said in a CBC interview. “It was a process of deep listening — to sit there with these headphones and really hear what these voices had to tell me.” Featuring the grainy, century-old recordings of his ancestors’ songs (which he uncovered on wax cylinders at the Canadian Museum of Civilization), the endangered Wolastoqey language (spoken by around 100 people), modern sounds and rhythms, and his own penetrating, emotive voice winding through sprawling post-classical rearrangements of traditional First Nations music, “Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa” (“Our Maliseet Songs”) is an ambitious, fascinating and important work — a richly deserving winner of the Polaris Prize, one of Canada’s most prestigious music awards. Dutcher says his art is rooted in “Indigenous futurism,” one aspect of which is recovering traditional languages and viewpoints to counteract the Western narrative that seeks to erase them. Celebrating ancestral voices while looking to the future in a fight for today, this is one for the ages.

2) King Tuff — The Other [Sub Pop]
On his dark-themed yet fun-filled fourth studio album, Vermont’s reigning king of psychedelic garage rock roams new territory, plumbing the worrisome depths of our current technology-driven, environmentally-destructive reality. Backed the impressive drumming of longtime collaborator Ty Seagall and aided by blasts of brass and sinewy synths, King Tuff (aka Kyle Thomas) rolls through crunchy, bluesy riffs, peeling back the layers of our iPhone-addled brains to reveal the poetry, nature and wilderness that we’ve lost along the way to our self-inflicted digitized annihilation. “So take me to your telescope and point me to the void, save me from the ones and zeros before it all gets destroyed,” he beseeches on “Circuits in the Sand.” If The Doors would’ve been the perfect final act to take the global stage as Armageddon rains down on Earth (“The End,” of course, being the last song we’d ever hear), King Tuff, with “The Other,” stakes a fairly convincing claim to the rabblerousing penultimate slot.

1) Caroline Rose — LONER [New West]
Somehow, Caroline Rose has managed to explore tough themes like sexism, misogyny, loneliness, self-doubt, infidelity and death, while delivering some of the most instant-party gems of 2018. Arch yet artful, Rose’s satire-spitting, synth-heavy third studio LP slips into seductively murky corners that burst open into dazzling technicolor skies on a dime. “I go to a friend of a friend’s party,” she deadpans on the opener. “Everyone’s well dressed with a perfect body. And they all have alternative haircuts and straight white teeth, but all I see is just more of the same thing,” The album, however, is anything but. With razor-edged turns of phrase, in-your-face punk attitude and catchy, curvilinear melodies, “LONER” certifies the Long Island songstress as a genuine pop maestro whose super-sly winks belie her 28 (!) years.

Honorable mentions:

Cassper Nyovest — Sweet and Short [UMG/Family Tree]
South African rapper Cassper Nyovest’s club-ready fourth studio album signals a return to his roots in kwaito (Afrikaans for “angry”), a heady mix of hip-hop and house music that originated in Johannesburg in the 1990s featuring slow tempos and African sounds, samples and slang that has grown into a potent youth culture.

Peter Brötzmann and Heather Leigh — Sparrow Nights [Trost]
For their first studio album, Scotland-based improv pedal steel master Heather Leigh (whose excellent solo album “Throne” was also released this year) and German free jazz sax legend Peter Brötzmann show off the intimate, minimalist intensity they’ve developed over three years of collaboration. Probing and melancholic, “Sparrow Nights” is often rapturous, at times profound.

Tomáš Kačo — My Home [Independent]
On “For Chopin,” the opening track on his long-awaited debut album, 31-year-old virtuoso pianist and composer Tomáš Kačo takes the master’s lead, playing the famous Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 (first published in 1832). But soon, the song diverges into his own expressive, jazzy strands to create not only an homage but an audacious musical conversation that stretches across the centuries. History plays a central role in “My Home,” which features some of the vibrant traditional gypsy music that Kačo’s father played for him when he was a just a young Romany pianist studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. A special treat: legendary bassist John Patitucci joins in for the duet “Marov.”

Scud + Nomex — Maschinebau EP (re-release) [Praxis]
In 1997, London techno-scuzz impresarios DJ Scud (founder of Ambush! Records) and Nomex (founder of Adverse Records) joined forces to launch the Maschinenbau label, releasing just two 7”s. Praxis had to good sense to re-release these deliriously filthy and abusive breakcore/industrial noise tracks just in time for the 21st-century robot invasion.

Ÿuma — Poussière d’ètoiles (“Stardust”) [Innacor]
In Poussière d’ètoiles (“Stardust”), Tunisian duo Ÿuma (singer Sabrine Jenhani and guitarist-singer Ramy Zoghlami) offer an intimate, minimalist blues-folk gem, sung in Arabic, that isn’t afraid to tangle with the difficult cultural politics of their homeland. In “Mestenni Ellil” (“I wait for the night”), they explore the desperation of two young lovers who can never be together due to the girl’s arranged marriage — a practice that is sadly legal and common in Tunisia.
