Guys, @ginnyw-potter just gave me the details on her Hinny Dirty Dancing AU idea and when I tell you that you need it, that's an understatement.
I told her I'd start a petition to make it happen, and she said I wouldn't (as we all know, it is unwise to dare a Ginny Stan) so if you need a Dirty Dancing AU (you do), like or reblog this post.
We are not above peer pressure at starlingflight.org

Okay, so as the fandom likes to claim that Harry/Hermione wouldn't work because Harry himself says that he likes her as a sister, I thought I'll make a post about that. After all, it's something we hear from his mouth, right? It's supposed to be the "smoking gun" evidence.
All we have to do, however, is to look at the situation more closely.
*rubs hands together*.
First of all, you can say one thing and mean another. As canon shippers claim that there's evidence of Romione before book 4 which are NOT romantic in nature (as in you don't have to actually say that you like someone, as Romione shippers bring up things like Hermione noticing Ron's face closely in the first book, etc), we can apply the same principle to Harmony. There's a whole lot of textual evidence that Harry finds her attractive.
“After you left,” he said in a low voice, grateful for the fact that Ron’s face was hidden, “she cried for a week. Probably longer, only she didn’t want me to see. There were loads of nights when we never even spoke to each other. With you gone..."
Two things to note here:
Harry's apparently grateful that Ron's face is hidden when he makes this statement, which should make us wonder how truthful he's being.
The emphasis on the "nights" is interesting. We do know that they were actively discussing the location of the Horcruxes, from an early chapter, despite being sad initially that Ron had left. But of course Harry cannot tell him that. He had just returned, and so he makes it sound as if they hardly spoke to each other after Ron had left. That's a lie.
Like I said, we have to look at the context. They had moved on without Ron, and part of the reason Harry says that is probably to make him feel better now that he's back.
And lastly, Harry even considered Ginny as his sister initially. Have a look at this:
They had lived, had they not, like brother and sister all summer, playing Quidditch, teasing Ron, and having a laugh about Bill and Phlegm?
Yes, Harry's rationalizing it to himself, but he's doing that by thinking back to how he essentially considered Ginny as his sister while they were at The Burrow.
So, no, it's not a slam-dunk argument when canon shippers bring it up, even though it certainly looks like that on the surface.

Another random thought...
The Weasley children came in pairs.
Charlie was best man at Bill's wedding.
Fred and George were inseparable (until suddenly they were).
Even Ron had Ginny to hang out with.
I think that's why Percy was able to leave so easily, he was always the odd man out. But I think he was Molly's favorite, which is why him leaving hurt her so much.

I saw a Tumblr post that says Ginny should destroy a horcrux. What's your thoughts on this? And if you agree which horcrux Ginny should had destroyed?
While I understand the sentiment behind that statement, I have to disagree, but let's see why.
In the first place, I would argue that Ginny might not have destroyed a Horcrux but she certainly defeated one, in the most contorted, darkest, complex way. Let's also not forget that if it hadn't been for Harry finding the diary, Ginny wouldn't have ended up in the Chamber. She was eleven and strong enough to win a mental war against Voldemort.
The only comparable show of mental strength regarding the destruction of a Horcrux is Harry walking to his death, but technically Harry was not a Horcrux. It's a different thing, I'm not going to count him in the Horcruxes.
Anyway, which Horcruxes were destroyed when Ginny was around?
The diadem, the snake, and the cup.
Ginny going to the Chamber with Harry to destroy the cup could've been interesting but very hard to justify narratively. And honestly, it was Ron and Hermione's thing, it was needed for showing Ron's strategic thinking, Hermione complimenting him, and their habit of discussing things alone and then bringing them to Harry that was kind of lacking for a while in DH.
For Nagini, the fundamental premise of Harry telling Neville about the snake is that Harry is not that emotionally attached to him. Plus, if Harry had tried to pull that stunt with Ginny, she would have understood what he was going to do in half a second. Also, the idea that Ginny, finding out that Harry is dead, would worry about a snake is a bit absurd.
This leaves us with the diadem. Ginny is around the Room of Requirements when it gets destroyed, the story could have been arranged for her to destroy it. But what emotional value it would've had for her? None. She didn't know what Horcruxes were. Sure, she would've found out after but it's not really the same thing. It wouldn't have brought her character development and growth.
And more importantly, Ginny has her own story. Making her just one of Harry's many helpers would've defeated the point of her being Harry's equal.
It's true that her relationship with darkness starts with a Horcrux but it's not the point, it's not the focus of Ginny Weasley's story. She doesn't even find out about Horcruxes until after the war.
I personally find so much value in the fact that her story doesn't need Harry's to gain legitimacy.
Ginny Weasley's story is one about shining brighter than the shadow other people put you in because they consider you too little, too young, and God forbid, a girl. Coming out of the shadow is the theme of her character, just as much a her association with light.
Ginny's story is the one of a girl who because she was ignored ended up a victim of unimaginable horrors and then grew up to be a defender of the mistreated. First with her friends, then with the entirety of Hogwarts during DH. And while I'm pretty sure that Ginny wasn't the official leader of the DA, the narrative, before giving Neville his moment to shine, and I'm not trying to take that away from him, makes quite sure to point out that the "frontman" (or frontwoman, I guess?) is Ginny. Something easily deductible by the personalities of Ginny, Neville, and Luna anyway. Harry continues to receive information about what happens to Ginny from Phineas Nigellius, it's only Harry who deduces that Neville and Luna are probably working with her.
“We’ve got a couple of questions to ask you— about the sword of Gryffindor.” “Ah,” said Phineas Nigellus, now turning his head this way and that in an effort to catch sight of Harry, “yes. That silly girl acted most unwisely there— ”
“Professor Black,” said Hermione, “couldn’t you just tell us, please, when was the last time the sword was taken out of its case? Before Ginny took it out, I mean?” -Chapter 15, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, JK Rowling
However, he did let drop certain snippets. Snape seemed to be facing a constant, low level of mutiny from a hard core of students. Ginny had been banned from going into Hogsmeade. Snape had reinstated Umbridge’s old decree forbidding gatherings of three or more students or any unofficial student societies. From all of these things, Harry deduced that Ginny, and probably Neville and Luna along with her, had been doing their best to continue Dumbledore’s Army. This scant news made Harry want to see Ginny so badly it felt like a stomachache; but it also made him think of Ron again, and of Dumbledore, and of Hogwarts itself, which he missed nearly as much as his ex-girlfriend. -Chapter 16, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, JK Rowling
But whatever Ginny has accomplished in those months is diminished by her being away for the last month. Protected, put in a corner, once again for who she is. And so once again, right before the Battle, she finds herself having to fight in order to be able to fight, which said like this sounds ridiculous.
She's, for one last time, put in the shadow, and for one last time forced to prove that she can get out of it, that she's brighter than the dark corner she is forced into.
And we see her again being the one that takes care of the forgotten, when just after her brother's death, she is on the Hogwarts grounds, caring after a half-dying girl.
It's this whole story that travels alongside Harry's one, and yet constantly connects with it. If Harry's story is more of a war of the flesh, starting and ending with a physical mark, Ginny's story is more of a war of the mind.
When there's the fight between the six for going to the Department of Mysteries, the fight between the three who are always involved and the three who want to be, everybody gets a word in, yet the one that matches Harry in being scornful and angry is Ginny. It's Ginny Harry's match on the other side.
Their stories are like parallel streets yet always in connection. This can be seen also in the fields in which they display their charisma and leadership abilities.
We see Ginny in the DA being able to call people's attention to herself with confidence and being able to bring people to her side, she's a charismatic person:
“Hem, hem,” said Ginny in such a good imitation of Professor Umbridge that several people looked around in alarm and then laughed. “Weren’t we trying to decide how often we’re going to meet and get Defense lessons?” -Chapter 16, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, JK Rowling
“Yeah, the D.A.’s good,” said Ginny. “Only let’s make it stand for Dumbledore’s Army because that’s the Ministry’s worst fear, isn’t it?” There was a good deal of appreciative murmuring and laughter at this. -Chapter 18, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, JK Rowling
Yet when it comes to DADA, it's Harry who truly shines, it's his territory. Ginny is a good duelist and, as the Bat-Bogey Hex lets us know, she knows how to handle the dark arts, but she is not Harry.
The opposite happens with Quidditch. Harry is the captain and he's good at it, he's a great seeker. But the life and soul of the team is Ginny (Harry's words not mine). She is the one who trains herself for years, can play more positions and clearly commands attention more than anyone else on the pitch.
They understand each other and have common interests while both having their own thing. They match each other without stepping on each other's shoes.
The enemy in Ginny's story is Voldemort too in the general sense of the war, but the ultimate enemy that brought the darkness Ginny fought against in DH and was consistent with the structure of her arc is the Carrows. In fact, Ginny is not associated for the first time with the Carrows in DH but in HBP. In the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, she's duelling against Amycus.
This was a very verbose way of saying that, thank God, Ginny didn't destroy an Hocrux because her story is not at the service of Harry's one, but it's her own.
.
If there's something I would've wanted to happen in the Battle, it would've been Ginny defeating one or both of the Carrows. I understand why it's not in the book, JKR probably didn't want to make Ginny a killer and also for us to see that, Harry should've been there but Harry couldn't see Ginny fighting or he wouldn't have been able to focus on anything else. He probably would've gotten a heart attack in the process too. But it would be something interesting to see if they'll ever do a tv series on the books. She doesn't necessarily need to defeat them by killing them herself.
.
If you're interested in the concept of Ginny's own parallel story, you might also want to give a look at this

you don't say you love me so i'll do the same 😁
YES! Thank you for the ask @fairsquare16! ❤️
This is my Adrien/Ginny endgame crossover "fic" if you will, but you have to understand that I love Harry/Ginny with a dying passion (my OTP to end all OTPs) and Adrien/Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug are my favorite pairing for the show as well. So...I don't know how to describe this "fic" except that it'd be full of Harry/Ginny and Adrien/Marinette (about 90% until the very end), and that in order it for to be the endgame I envision, the wizarding war ends differently than we all want it to. 😭 Also this may be a story very few people will want to read because of the crossover but even if I only have @theroomofreq it's something that lives constantly in my brain.
The premise is that Adrien (a French student from Beauxbatons) suddenly is forced to transfer his fourth year to Hogwarts (Ootp timeframe) by his father. His father's family are originally British and part of the Sacred 28, and his French mother is also a Pureblood. His father fully expects he'll be sorted to Slytherin, and it's a Problem when he's sorted into Hufflepuff.
He's gorgeous, kind, perfect — everyone in the school is talking about the famous French model, but he feels out of sorts, missing his Beauxbaton friends (half-blooded Marinette, Muggle Nino, and Pureblood Alya). His original meeting with Ginny doesn't go so well (yes the trope where they run into each other and their stuff goes flying). His Perfection rubs Ginny the wrong way (hello trauma); the last time she trusted a supposed perfect boy did not go so well.
From there, it's really snippets/ideas where they slowly become friends, him eventually gaining enough trust that he joins the DA. This is seriously like the slowest freakin' burn in my head ever because it's purely platonic for the longest time, despite Adrien proclivity towards BAMF females and Ginny softening under his soft kindness. But it's platonic! Harry/Ginny still happen in HBP, and Adrien makes some progress himself with Marinette via long distance communication.
DH timeframe is a dark one, exploring them supporting each other at Hogwarts. Heavy, heavy pining for Harry/Ginny and Adrien/Marinette. Adrien going out of his mind worried about Marinette and Nino in France, where the war is spilling over. Marinette is similarly starting her own "DA" in a sense, and Nino is missing. Ginny is missing Harry, worried about her family, and doing what needs to be done to survive and save as many students as possible. I'm reimagining the Sword Stealing scene where Adrien is the distraction for Headmaster Snape (since Gabriel of course asks Snape to put Adrien under his wing even though he's Hufflepuff). Snape realizing what Adrien is doing and bolting towards his office to stop Ginny and Neville...you know the drill.
Then post-war, the fallout of Harry and Marinette being...gone. And how Adrien and Ginny come together out of pain, grief, survival, healing, and genuine love, even if the ones they were made for are gone.
Oh god, I ended up writing so much here about it, but like I said, it's...uh...something I think about.
Um, for a snippet, I wrote this to get into the mindset of this world. It's Adrien at the World Cup in GoF, where he has to sit with Draco and Lucius because his father. The only other scene I have written is DH battle and that's way too much, haha.
Adrien is already overwhelmed by the stadium, the sheer number of people from all walks of magical life landing them here. After all the years alone in the Agreste mansion, hardly seeing more than his endless parade of tutors or the specified sanctioned model shoots, he finds his little heart pitter pattering at the endless press of people. He shivers at the amount of careless brushes against strangers, even as his bodyguard manages to part the crowd such that Adrien gets only a modicum of what others experience.
He wishes his friends were here. The thought of Nino, Marinette, and Alya makes him pulse with longing. Nino would make a joke about Adrien’s lack of Quidditch knowledge, and what a waste it was that he taking a seat of a true fan. Marinette never failed to make him laugh, whether she would stumble over her words or make the most interesting poses. Alya would have no trouble pushing the crowd aside to pave the way for them.
“Adrien?” his father calls, turning to look back and down at him as if assessing why he was delaying them. Adrien’s spine straightens automatically, like a marionette being pulled by its strings.
“Sorry father,” Adrien says automatically, his lips lifting though his face feels strained. He hurries along, ignoring the way witches and wizards alike start to notice him, the familiar whispers beginning to buzz.
Is that the Agreste family?
It’s the French robemaker, Gabriel. I saw his latest line in The Witches Weekly!
Oh Merlin, that’s Adrien Agreste!
His father gives a curt nod, and Adrien’s chest suffuses with warmth at the sign of approval.
Feel free to send me asks on any of my WIPs!

Sirius Black was the best adult in Harry's life and I'm forever salty that we didn't get to see more of him
So, I love Sirius Black. He's a complex and interesting character that I love dearly. He's handsome, smart, brave, not as reckless as some fanon make him out to be, and above all else, he tried his best to be a good godfather to Harry.
I truly believe Sirius could've been an amazing father figure (more than he already was) to Harry if given the proper chance. And he's a much better parent to Harry than Arthur and Molly Weasley.
Here are some quotes along with my ramblings to prove it.
So, what I'm going to cover here are some quotes from Sirius and Harry that show their dynamic and how much Sirius cared and tried to be there for Harry. Also, I think Molyl and Hermione are wrong about Sirius seeing Harry as a James replacement.
“He came back to the country just because my scar twinged. He’ll probably come bursting right into the castle if I tell him someone’s entered me in the Triwizard Tournament —”
(GoF, page 290)
Harry wrote to Sirius at the beginning of GoF about his dream with Voldemort and his scar's reaction to it. Sirius left everything immediately to return to Britain — a place where he is hunted down and is a wanted man. All because he wants to be close to Harry, so he can spring up to protect him if the need arises.
Harry is correct in his assessment here.
“Poor old Snuffles,” said Ron, breathing deeply. “He must really like you, Harry. . . . Imagine having to live off rats.”
(GoF, page 534)
Ron is absolutely right. Sirius loves Harry more than pretty much anything. He would and does go incredibly far for Harry. I don't think Molly and Hermione are right about how Sirius sees Harry as James. He just doesn't.
He doesn't treat Harry as an equal to him, but as someone he needs to protect. Someone he is responsible to protect.
He stays around Hogwarts, eating rats in GoF so he can better protect Harry. He wouldn't have done the same with James because he treated James as an equal, not as someone he needed to protect.
“It’s not my fault you haven’t been told what the Order’s doing,” said Sirius calmly. “That’s your parents’ decision. Harry, on the other hand —” “It’s not down to you to decide what’s good for Harry!” said Mrs. Weasley sharply. Her normally kindly face looked dangerous. “You haven’t forgotten what Dumbledore said, I suppose?” “Which bit?” Sirius asked politely, but with an air as though readying himself for a fight. “The bit about not telling Harry more than he needs to know,” said Mrs. Weasley, placing a heavy emphasis on the last three words. Ron, Hermione, Fred, and George’s heads turned from Sirius to Mrs. Weasley as though following a tennis rally. Ginny was kneeling amid a pile of abandoned butterbeer corks, watching the conversation with her mouth slightly open. Lupin’s eyes were fixed on Sirius. “I don’t intend to tell him more than he needs to know, Molly,” said Sirius. “But as he was the one who saw Voldemort come back” (again, there was a collective shudder around the table at the name), “he has more right than most to —” “He’s not a member of the Order of the Phoenix!” said Mrs. Weasley. “He’s only fifteen and —” “— and he’s dealt with as much as most in the Order,” said Sirius, “and more than some —” “No one’s denying what he’s done!” said Mrs. Weasley, her voice rising, her fists trembling on the arms of her chair. “But he’s still —” “He’s not a child!” said Sirius impatiently. “He’s not an adult either!” said Mrs. Weasley, the color rising in her cheeks. “He’s not James, Sirius!” “I’m perfectly clear who he is, thanks, Molly,” said Sirius coldly. “I’m not sure you are!” said Mrs. Weasley. “Sometimes, the way you talk about him, it’s as though you think you’ve got your best friend back!” “What’s wrong with that?” said Harry. “What’s wrong, Harry, is that you are not your father, however much you might look like him!” said Mrs. Weasley, her eyes still boring into Sirius. “You are still at school and adults responsible for you should not forget it!” “Meaning I’m an irresponsible godfather?” demanded Sirius, his voice rising. “Meaning you’ve been known to act rashly, Sirius, which is why Dumbledore keeps reminding you to stay at home and —” “We’ll leave my instructions from Dumbledore out of this, if you please!” said Sirius loudly.
(OotP, page 88-89)
This above quote is a long one, but I love it. I mean, this shows a big contrast between Sirius' approach to parenting and Molly's. Sirius, while not seeing Harry as his equal, does see Harry as a capable wizard who deserves to know the full picture. Sirius knows Harry would be in more danger when ignorant and wants him as safe as possible. He thinks Harry deserves to know things that pertain to him, and I have to agree with him here. Keeping Harry in the dark is what eventually cost Sirius his life.
Molly, on the other hand, is intent on keeping Harry, Hermione, and her kids ignorant. She has the same intention as Sirius: to keep them safe. But she tries to keep them safe emotionally, even when this ignorance can and does place them in physical harm's way.
And Sirius is right. Harry is capable. And a 15-year-old shouldn't be treated the same as an 11-year-old child. And let's be real, Harry was never a regular child with how he grew up, and I think Sirius sees his maturity and treats him accordingly. Sirius actually gave Harry advice to not approach danger in GOF and Harry listened to him because Sirius treated him with respect, which works best with Harry who never really had parental figures.
“I don’t know,” said Sirius slowly, “I just don’t know . . . Karkaroff doesn’t strike me as the type who’d go back to Voldemort unless he knew Voldemort was powerful enough to protect him. But whoever put your name in that goblet did it for a reason, and I can’t help thinking the tournament would be a very good way to attack you and make it look like an accident.”
(GoF, page 334)
This is an expert from the Fireplace conversation Haryr had with Sirius before the first task. Sirius shares his theories with Harry because he needs him to know who to watch out for. Because everything he does is to keep Harry safe. And this is the same approach Sirius wishes he could take with Harry in OOTP. Because he knows it works. Keeping Harry informed means that if he does put himself in danger, at least he would inform Sirius about it; Which would allow Sirius to protect him.
I'm not copying all of them, but Sirius' letters to Harry throughout GOF are so caring and sweet. Harry deserved to have more of his godfather in his life:
Nice try, Harry. I'm back in the country and well hidden. I want you to keep me posted on everything that's going on at Hogwarts. Don't use Hedwig, keep changing owls, and don't worry about me, just watch out for yourself. Don't forget what I said about your scar. Sirius
(Gof, page 240)
This treatment encourages Harry to actually share everything with him and ask him for advice. Something he doesn't do with Dumbledore ever. (Harry actually doesn't like or trust Dumbledore all that much until book 6, it's usually Hermione who trusts Dumbledore fully)
“Sirius — how’re you doing?” ... “Never mind me, how are you?” said Sirius seriously.
(GoF, page 331)
Sirius again, shows his responsibility towards Harry's well-being over his own (both here and in the above letter).
Sirius is the only adult who actually talks to Harry about the Dursleys with sympathy:
“But if they do expel me,” said Harry, quietly, “can I come back here and live with you?” Sirius smiled sadly. “We’ll see.” “I’d feel a lot better about the hearing if I knew I didn’t have to go back to the Dursleys,” Harry pressed him. “They must be bad if you prefer this place,” said Sirius gloomily.
(OotP, page 116)
We know Sirius would love nothing more than for Harry to stay with him. He's lonely and bored at Grimmauld and would love to have Harry there. But at the same time, he doesn't want Harry expelled from Hogwarts and is trying not to be hopeful for it.
Sirius understands the Dursleys are awful, he just know the full scope, but it's more of a reaction than we get from most adults in this series. To me, it looks like Sirius is annoyed by how limited he is in helping Harry. He can't really do much about the Dursleys or their status as Harry's guardians.
“So you want me to say I’m not going to take part in the defense group?” he muttered finally. “Me? Certainly not!” said Sirius, looking surprised. “I think it’s an excellent idea!” “You do?” said Harry, his heart lifting. “Of course I do!” said Sirius. “D’you think your father and I would’ve lain down and taken orders from an old hag like Umbridge?” “But — last term all you did was tell me to be careful and not take risks —” “Last year all the evidence was that someone inside Hogwarts was trying to kill you, Harry!” said Sirius impatiently. “This year we know that there’s someone outside Hogwarts who’d like to kill us all, so I think learning to defend yourselves properly is a very good idea!” “And if we do get expelled?” Hermione asked, a quizzical look on her face. “Hermione, this whole thing was your idea!” said Harry, staring at her. “I know it was. . . . I just wondered what Sirius thought,” she said, shrugging. “Well, better expelled and able to defend yourselves than sitting safely in school without a clue,” said Sirius.
(OotP, page 371)
I love this scene as well. Sirius cares for Harry's safety first and foremost. Harry being safe is his top priority at every given point. And he's reasonable and logical and treats Harry like someone to protect, not like a friend.
Like, Harry when he has a problem and needs advice throughout books 4 and 5, he calls Sirius. He's Harry's go-to parental figure for advice, and Sirius takes his rule seriously. He gives the advice he honestly thinks is best and ensures Harry's safety and continued survival to the best of his ability.
“It matters because we don’t want to draw attention to the fact that Harry is having visions of things that are happening hundreds of miles away!” said Sirius angrily. “Have you any idea what the Ministry would make of that information?” Fred and George looked as though they could not care less what the Ministry made of anything. Ron was still white-faced and silent. Ginny said, “Somebody else could have told us. . . . We could have heard it somewhere other than Harry. . . .”
(OotP, pages 476-477)
Again, Harry's safety is Sirius' first priority above everyone else. Harry's happiness and privacy also take precedence over most other things. He doesn't want Harry under even more scrutiny from the ministry and the Wizarding World and protecting him from that is just as important to him.
To me, it feels like people who say he treats Harry like a James replacement didn't read the books....
“It must have been the aftermath of the vision, that’s all,” said Sirius. “You were still thinking of the dream or whatever it was and —” “It wasn’t that,” said Harry, shaking his head. “It was like something rose up inside me, like there’s a snake inside me —” “You need to sleep,” said Sirius firmly. “You’re going to have breakfast and then go upstairs to bed, and then you can go and see Arthur after lunch with the others. You’re in shock, Harry; you’re blaming yourself for something you only witnessed, and it’s lucky you did witness it or Arthur might have died. Just stop worrying. . . .” He clapped Harry on the shoulder and left the pantry, leaving Harry standing alone in the dark.
(OotP, pages 480-481)
And I love this too. How he tries to comfort Harry and make everything easier for him. When the rest of the Order were gossiping about how dangerous his connection to Voldemort is, Sirius is honestly trying to get Harry to worry about it less.
He might be lying here, but he is right about sending Harry to sleep after a sleepless night like they had. And he is right about Harry being in shock and needing the rest. I just, really like how much Sirius cares. Harry just doesn't have other adults in his life who care for him like Sirius does.
But some part of him realized, even as he fought to break free from Lupin, that Sirius had never kept him waiting before. . . . Sirius had risked everything, always, to see Harry, to help him. . . . If Sirius was not reappearing out of that archway when Harry was yelling for him as though his life depended on it, the only possible explanation was that he could not come back. . . . That he really was . . .
(OotP, page 808)
This. Scene. Just kills me.
Like, Harry understands how much Sirius cares about him, and how Sirius always puts him first. He knows the only way Sirius won't drop everything to come and when Harry calls for him is if he can't.
Because Sirius escaped Azkaban when he realized Harry might be in danger from Peter, not for his own safety, but for Harry’s. Sirius dropped everything and moved to live in a cave and eat rats when Harry's scar hurt. He stuck around Hogwarts and Hogsmead during the Triwizard Tournament, when it was crawling with ministry officials because Harry might need him. He was willing to do so much for Harry. And Harry knew this.
I think, given time, they could've had an amazing dynamic, and I wish we had more of Sirius and his care for Harry. That we saw more of his approach to parenting Harry.

Why both Jily and Jegulus make sense in the Marauders Fandom
Tumblr media
Okay, so I have been seeing a few posts recently dismissing Jegulus as a ship and, although I am personally more of a Jily than a Jegulus girly, I thought I'd explain why both ships make sense to me in the context of the original source material.
We know that there is a direct link between the Marauders and the Golden Trio in the books, and that each member of one mirrors a member of the other.
James and Harry being the most obvious, as father and son and the perceived 'leader' of their group of friends.
Sirius and Ron, the 'best friend'. Both from pureblood families, although the Blacks and the Weasleys couldn't be more different in their beliefs. Both feel misunderstood and perhaps misplaced in their family. Both give James and Harry unadulterated, solid friendship that is fiercely loyal and unquestioning.
Remus and Hermione, the outcasts. Remus due to his lycanthropy, Hermione due to her muggleborn status. Both try to counterbalance this by excelling in their studies and are, by nature (again, this is in the original books) more rule-followers rather than rebels.
Peter and Neville, the astonished Gryffindors. Both from pureblood families, both equally surprised by being sorted in the house where bravery is valued most. They each deal with impostor syndrome, but whilst Neville's friends build him up and he eventually comes into his own thanks to Dumbledore's Army, Peter fails (or is failed by his friends) in doing so and betrays them for the dark side.
We know that Harry ends up marrying Ginny, who is, like Lily, a magically talented and strong-willed red-haired witch but is also his best friend's younger sibling. So, James falling for Regulus doesn't feel like too far a stretch to me.
Jegulus also gives the opportunities to explore a lot of interesting considerations for writers, such as (i) what is the difference between loving someone as a best friend and loving someone romantically; (ii) you can't choose the family you are born into but you can make your own family as you grow older; (iii) what are the differences in relationship dynamics between partners, lifelong friends and siblings?
I'm sure someone has more cleverly and thoroughly analysed these parallels before but I just wanted to share my unsolicited opinion with the tubmlrverse.
Overall, I would say if you enjoy reading something, read it. If you find yourself not enjoying something, DON'T. Freedom is fickle in this flawed world, so exercise it ruthlessly where you can.
Ok, rant over, Misia out x

So, Harry had apparently broken up with Ginny because he didn't want her to get into trouble while they went out to hunt down the Horcruxes. Fair enough there.
But that still doesn't explain how he was so indifferent to her crying in the Deathly Hallows, when he is willing to comfort Hermione when she's upset.
Even after the war, his reaction was to basically make a mental-note to talk to her later. What he actually wanted was to-- yup, you guessed it-- talk to Ron and Hermione instead.
And that's not to mention how he himself wasn't sure as to why he was thinking about her when Voldemort was about to kill him:
None of the Death Eaters moved. They were waiting: Everything was waiting. Hagrid was struggling, and Bellatrix was panting, and Harry thought inexplicably of Ginny, and her blazing look, and the feel of her lips on his-- Voldemort had raised his wand.
Why was it "inexplicable", exactly? It'd surely make sense for him to have thought of her before he'd sacrificed himself. But from the word it has been worded, Harry had no idea either.
Let's just contrast that with...
Harry took one glance back at the entrance of the Great Hall. People were moving around, trying to comfort each other, drinking, kneeling beside the dead, but he could not see any of the people he loved, no hint of Hermione, Ron, Ginny, or any of the other Weasleys, no Luna.
It's the list of people Harry loves, and it's Hermione who's first on the list, even before Ron. It's hard to assume that it's just a co-incidence, when the general pattern has been to always refer to his friends as "Ron and Hermione." I might be wrong, but that's how it had always been. However, now that he's about to die, it's Hermione who takes precedence.
Such a mystery.

My Opinions on Harry Potter Ships (controversial but not for shock value)
I have tagged the ships that I talk negatively about under anti, so check the tags before you read this. Keep in mind there are a few here that I feel iffy on but did not tag as anti.
(Shrug means I prefer them sometimes or specifically in one medium over another (book vs. movie), check means I love them in every version, X means not at all)
Golden Era
Drarry: 🤷‍♀️ The appeal comes and goes; the further from canon it gets, the more I like it, but in a canon compliant universe I don't. Still, they were immensely important to each other growth wise, and I enjoy seeing the different interpretations of that.
Romione: ✅ One of the all-time greats. Sure, the books are kinder to their relationship, but the movies aren't completely lacking in the way some people would like to believe (newsflash: it's not just Ron's character that was butchered in the movies).
Dramione: ❌ I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say that finding out someone ships Dramione makes me lose respect for them. If you understand Hermione at all, and not the self-insert version of her that the fandom has created, you'd know that she would never.
Linny: ✅ I enjoy them, but specifically the book version of them that features Ginny as Luna's weirdness translator and Luna as the cryptid hanging out at all the Gryffindor parties under Ginny's arm. Platonic or romantic, they are a great match.
Deamus: ✅ Love, love, love. The fact that they are one of the few characters that don't have a confirmed marriage by the end of the series just adds to the delusion that they ran off together. Hard to find any content of them that I don't like.
Hinny: 🤷‍♀️ Harry finding happiness and a family after everything he was forced to go through is all that matters to me, so I never want to rain on his parade but, again, their relationship is so much better in the books. Ginny, specifically, is better in the books, but I digress.
Marauders
Jily: ✅ I hate seeing them shipped with anyone else. Their love literally saved their child. They're written in the stars: stag and doe. They were in each other's lives longer than they weren't. Plus, you know who else tried to separate Jily? Voldemort.
Wolfstar: 🤷‍♀️ I started out as a decent fan, but my appreciation has slowly fizzled out. Their dynamic is more interesting when you see them for how they really are: the last of their group. They aren't the ones they wanted, but the ones they got.
Jegulus: ❌ I have little else to say about it other than that I miss when it wasn't being shoved down my throat and washed down with Lily-slander.
