"The moral design of nature is as bungled as its engineering design. What twisted sadist would have invented a parasite that blinds millions of people or a gene that covers babies with excruciating blisters? To adapt a Yiddish expression about God: If an intelligent designer lived on Earth, people would break his windows."
-- Steven Pinker
The people who make the claim of "design" don't know anything about how the world actually functions.

I think it’s so strange that humans are flammable, like what kind of design flaw is that?
I would like to complain to the head of human design department, I do believe some updates are in order.

Just browsing the Peter Pan section of the Disney shop website (Peter Pan has always been my favourite Disney film ❤️) and spotted this cute mug but I err…spotted a design flaw. Disney, you might want to change it a bit 😬😅

Visual Diary 2 Post 1: Apple Mouse Charging
My first wicked design problem is the way that Apple designs their mouse so that the charging port is on the bottom of the mouse. Pictured here is my mouse, and as you can see, it is completely unusable while charging. Just the other day, I was in a deep flow with my work but had to take an unplanned break when my mouse died and I had to let it charge. Another time, I was very close to a deadline and working on an email to submit my project, but the mouse died and I had to let it charge for a bit, which cost me some valuable time. This is a problem that annoys Apple users everywhere, and while it is a generally harmless problem, it is definitely irritating. Since Apple mouses are so fantastic (in terms of their function), if Apple could just find a unique way to improve the charging design, I think they could be design leaders in the mouse space. My gripes with this design are definitely subjective critique, as they are fully grounded in my personal experiences using this mouse.

Flush Out the Flaws: Ethical Implications of US Public Restroom Design
During my recent trip to Western Europe, I noticed that the public restrooms were designed differently than those in the United States. Specifically, there were no gaps on the sides of the restroom stalls. This made question the thought-process behind designing public stalls in the US. Did we not consider the potential discomfort of being seen while using the restroom or the ethical implications that go along with that?
United States public restroom stalls:
Western European public restroom stalls:
When arriving in Europe, it was immediately noticeable to me that each restroom stall was fully enclosed, providing users with a greater sense of privacy and security. In contrast, many public restrooms in the US have stalls with gaps on the sides, which can make people feel exposed and vulnerable. This design flaw is not just a matter of comfort; it can have ethical implications as well. People have a right to privacy, and public restrooms should be designed with this in mind.
Public restrooms with gaps on the sides of the stalls not only make people feel exposed and vulnerable, but they can also create opportunities for predators to invade the privacy of others. There have been thousands of instances in the US of people being caught video recording others in public restrooms through these gaps.
Furthermore, the lack of privacy can have a disproportionate impact on marginalized groups, such as trans and non-binary individuals, who may already face discrimination and harassment in public spaces. In addition, it can also be a barrier for individuals with certain medical conditions or disabilities who require assistance from caregivers.
Therefore, it is crucial that public restrooms are designed with the safety and security of all users in mind, implementing an approach of empathic design. Adopting the fully enclosed stall design used frequently in Western Europe or installing privacy screens and dividers that block the view of the gaps can help prevent these instances from occurring. By prioritizing the needs of all users and considering the potential negative implications of design flaws, we can create more comfortable and safe public spaces for everyone.
Yours creatively,
HM

Prompt 279
Now Danny didn’t mean to make a Bootube channel. He’d meant to send that sleep deprived ramble to Tucker, but he had clicked on the wrong app and yeah. Apparently people enjoy his space rambles- or it could have been the ghost blob-cats that had decided to flop onto him. (Honestly he wasn’t surprised they would start to mimic the shapes of things in their surroundings)
Tucker? Found it hilarious, as did Sam and Val and… um, okay this has become their shared channel now, nice. Though there are some strange comments on some of the videos. Really, what do they mean green sky and crazy tech???

I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.
