Okay, but what was that? Did he accidentally say another woman's name out of habit, or was he thinking about someone else? In my opinion, it's serious when you think about someone else during sex – it’s over. You're just a replacement, nothing more. It's a pity for the reader; I was hoping he would feel something for her at least😩☹️

out of habit! which, with dbf!simon's track record, that must mean he was with erin so much that he's used to calling her name. and thats the kicker - it's her name that he used. not petnames or some shit

but also, since we're all collectively trying to develop this sequence, may i go crazier? we can all collectively ignore this >p<

but um thinking about making dbf!simon love erin like fr. and that he stayed with her the longest because erin reminded him of reader's good parts without the, yk, being his best friend's daughter part. thinking about erin wearing the same perfume as you do. or having the same small hands- sometimes simon imagines it were your hands he was holding. or having the same interests as you do; being passionate about the same things as you are. erin calls his name the way simon remembers you do- all coy and playful and enamoured.

and simon, well, he got drunk off of it. got drunk at the realization that there was someone else who can give him the same high that you give him. that there was someone out there who can yank him out of this haphazard relationship he has with you. that he can be with "you" without consequences.

so erin became his world.

then, it wasn't enough. erin didn't have the same laugh as you do, didn't have the same humour. erin was so patient with him when simon was so used to having tussles with you- push and pulls that drove him crazy; push and pulls that he loved because you're the fiery object of his desires.

erin was the balance he didn't want. so he leaves, because simon's really good at that- leaving.

so. yk. i've been uhhh ruminating over that for a while mhmm mhmm like idk. make simon like reader back but be so emotionally constipated that his love is translated into something wrong?
