On the tail-end of his announcements, Wymack passes around a clipboard. Edgar Allan is going to reserve a "friends and family" section right behind the Away bench. They are allotted eighteen seats to divvy up between the nine of them, and Wymack needs a list of names so he can get those seats reserved as soon as possible and start working on travel arrangements from the airport to Edgar Allan. Eighteen doesn't sound like very many, but the Foxes can't fill them. No one in Andrew's group needs any, and Allison passes the clipboard on without hesitation. Renee needs one for her foster mother and donated the second to Matt so his father can bring his current mistress. Dan goes last so she knows how many spare seats she can steal. Several of her stage sisters had moved on from their old club to quieter jobs, but the few who are still there were unlikely to get approved for a Friday night off.
Day: Monday, April 15th / 16th* Time: 3:15 PM EST
*Due to the Leap Year, I have opted to highlight the day rather than the date to keep the events in occurrence to the 2007 year. I will continue to mark both days accordingly.

i’m still thinking about these two interactions jean has with abby. my first reread i was a little confused and surprised by how short and almost rude is towards jean and his trauma until i realized on the reread i just started: it’s only been three months since she patched up neil after winter break.
and neil doesn’t tell her or wymack the full story (hell, he doesn’t remember the full story) but from what he does remember and what he might have communicated, it puts jean in a very fucking bad light. even with some of the context that she might have about jean’s time in the nest, which is only a tiny piece of it, she can’t stop herself from blaming him for his role as bystander.
and from reading the rest of the book it’s clear that no one really understands how kevin and jean were forced into being bystanders to each others trauma. they don’t understand. they can’t understand. so it makes perfect sense to me that abby is angry at jean because, in her knowledge of events, he allowed riko to hurt one of her foxes.
and this is what i find so interesting about the depth that nora gives abby here. in the main trilogy, abby is kind and caring and empathetic and loving. and she is still all of those things, but tsc makes me realize just how much of that is in the context of the foxes. and obviously several of these characteristics transfer over to jean: she takes care of him, she patches him up, she gives him shelter and food, etc. but she is still so affected by what happened to kevin and neil in the nest. and now it makes me want more of abby’s perspective on aftg and its events

Kevin: How does Neil look?
Andrew: much better than you, actually.

Andrew is the favorite uncle. Not just for Aaron and Nicky’s kids but all the foxes kids are just obsessed with uncle Andrew.
None of the foxes understand why except for Neil. But that only because Neil is there when Andrew gets up at three am to answer a phone call from their sobbing niece, who admits for the first time out loud that maybe she isn’t a boy and “is that okay uncle Andrew”. Or when Kevin’s kid shows up at there house after getting in an argument with her dad and Andrew lets her rage and rant until it doesn’t seem like the end of the world anymore, then walks her home (hc: they live pretty close for a while cause their on the same team). Or when nobody can get Aaron’s twins to stop crying but as soon as Andrew is given a turn at trying to calm the babies they stop immediately.
The kids all love Andrew he’s the first one they go to with their issues, he’s the first one they run too when all the foxes are together, he’s the first one that they come out too if they’re queer(Nicky is so mad when his kid comes out to Andrew before him)
He’s just a really good uncle.

i love seeing art of the foxes using KT tape, because let me tell you, that shit is a BITCH to get off.
i have chronic muscle problems, so my docs often use it on me.
if it’s applied properly, you can’t just rip it off, because it’ll take your hair with it lol, and it will obviously irritate the skin.
in my experience, showering isn’t enough either, you need to lather the adhesive area in oil.
so i just imagine the foxes all having an excessive amount of baby oil and coconut oil in their dorms.
every grocery run includes a huge amount of oils, and while on the bench or in team meetings, there is always someone distracted as they try and pick off excess adhesive off their body.
they aren’t even called on it because it is a shared annoyance they can all relate to.
additionally, i think it would be funny if abby had fox print KT tape ordered for the team, but also always orders plain black KT tape because andrew absolutely refuses to use it otherwise.

Personally just think that while Kevin & Wymack would be kind of awkward in their whole embracing one another as family that Kevin does not have the same problem with Abby.
Partially because I think it'd be very funny for Wymack to go to Abby's house and walk in to just find Kevin and Abby on the couch drinking mimosas with face masks on watching their compromise show which is The Real Housewives of Exy Players.

Do you think the adults ever looked at neil and andrew and just remarked about how young they look? 18 and 19 at the beginning of the books. they’re like Babies compared to them.
Like imagine betsy listening to andrew tell her about how he feels responsible for the safety of his family. and he’s just. so so young to have this much weight on his shoulders.
And abby tracking neil’s scars with her eyes. sure she’s seen a lot while working with the foxes, but this… not to mention wymack picking neil up from the airport and noticing how small he is when he’s cradling his broken body in his arms. how he has more scars and bruises than unblemished skin

Something that genuinely hits me in the angst feels when I think about it is Neil staying behind when everyone graduates. The kid who was on the run for nearly a decade, who finally found a home and people to run to and depend on. And then one by one, they all disappear. They talk daily, sure, but they're busy with things they don't share anymore or things they can't do together. Neil's left behind with a vacant home and memories with only Abby and Wymack to keep the loneliness at bay. Considering Neil's backstory, I feel like even the addition of new freshmen feels like an intrusion into his home. Neil has nothing to do anymore, why go to Edens on the weekend? With what car? His life becomes exy and studying. Around this time, I think Wymack and Abby start acting more like parents to Neil. Giving him things to do and giving him the stability he desperately needs, in the form of a family that's waiting on everyone to come home.

AFTG Headcanons that have a little canon evidence but not a lot
Abby and Andrew are frenemies
Andrew has chronic migraines
Dan Wilds has ADHD
Kevin Day has autism
the twinyards and Neil have chronic joint pain
Andrew and Kevin constantly argue about Andrew's diet
Neil and Andrew take Kevin to history museums
^ Kevin can't drive and in fact knows nothing about cars (he memorized Andrew's license plate so he can find the Mas in parking lots)
Abby and Wymack give the foxes joint Christmas gifts
Andrew buys everyone gifts. he doesn't tell anyone it's from him, he just puts them somewhere he knows they'll be found
Alison and Andrew start to bond post-TKM and become besties when they're adults
None of the OG Foxes liked Robin at first; they thought she was intruding into their space since Andrew takes her everywhere

I just love the fact that Andrew's adult-job (aka profession) after college has such a variety in fanfics- bartender, social worker, some tech guy, some office guy, pro exy player, actor, business owner, club owner, police officer, head of a criminal empire, Flower shop guy, Baker, FBI officer, a thug for the Hatfords, Chef, sugar baby, sugar daddy, a werewolf, a vampire, a mermaid, a witch, some-other-supernatural-thing, and more
Just. Everything.

the most painful part of tsc for me was this btw. it's about giving up after trying so hard to hold on. it's about jealousy and what ifs and horrible, horrible feelings. it's about what it means to be alive. about what it means to be human.
