#but i completely get why someone might not like that. sometimes it's difficult to read a story where the pov is an asshole.

I may have posted about this before, but I don't understand the whole proshipper/anti debate. As far as I understand, I'm on the side of proshippers (i think fiction is fiction and doesn't have to reflect reality. because it's fiction.), but what I don't get is why there's such a clear defined binary, and why there's such animosity between the two. It's just a difference in opinion, like any other, isn't it? I understand that either group can "take it too far" (though i dont really get how proshippers could be TOO okay with problematic ships). but i really think either viewpoint is fine to a degree, they both have logic behind them, and it's just a matter of preference, isn't it?

Could I request AngelDust Alastor Husker CherriBomb Stolas and Blitzø reactions to finding out their s/o self harms. I have one more request as well that I will send separately. If it makes you too uncomfortable you don’t have to because I completely understand! This goes for my other request too.
Attention
These headcanons contain mentions of self-harm. Please read with caution and take care of yourself
Headcanons Self-harm
🕷 Angel Dust x Reader 💖
When Angel was still alive, he experienced a lot of violence. He knew that sometimes it could get so hard that it seemed that self-harm was the only way out. That's why when he saw the scars on your wrists, he realized that they were left by you and not by someone else
Angel understood that you wouldn't have been able to die in Hell, but he couldn't stay away, knowing that there was something that brought you to harm yourself. He wanted to find out from you what was the reason why you decided to hurt yourself, but he was going to do it carefully so that his actions would not push you away
It was hard for you to talk about it, so Angel acted gradually. He was willing to listen to you and wasn't going to push you away no matter what happened to you. By the end of your story, you were crying in his arms, unable to contain your emotions anymore
Angel understood that he would not be able to solve this whole situation with one conversation, so he was going to support you further so that you could survive a difficult situation for you. He sincerely wanted to help you and go through difficult memories with you so that you would no longer have any reason to harm yourself
📻 Alastor x Reader 🎙
From the outside, it might seem to many that Alastor does not care about the feelings of others, and for the most part it really was so. However, when it came to people who were dear to him, he could really worry. You were one of those people. That's why when he saw the scratch marks on your skin, he began to worry, believing that someone had done it to you
He carefully tried to find out from you who scratched you so badly. These scratches were very deep and he was sure that it was done intentionally. At first you didn't want to talk, trying to evade the answer, but eventually you couldn't stand it and told him that you did it yourself. Your answer surprised Alastor, but he immediately realized that you weren't lying to him
Alastor listened to your monologue about your inner torments. He understood that it was serious, since you caused yourself so much harm. It bothered him a lot. If someone else had been the culprit, he would have been able to get rid of the source of your problems, but the fact that you were harming yourself complicated the situation. However, this did not mean that he was going to leave this situation without a solution
Alastor intended to help you. He understood that it would take a lot of time and effort, because it was not as easy to cope with moral problems as he would like, but he was not going to give up. He wanted to help you and intended to do it no matter what
🃏 Husk x Reader 🥃
Husk often didn't care about the feelings of others. He himself had a lot of problems and he was not eager to deal with other people's problems as well. But when he saw the burn marks on your wrists, he tensed up. He tensed even more when he realized that the footprints looked like they had been left by a cigarette
Husk began to notice that you began to smoke often. He quickly realized that the cigarette burns were left by you and not by someone else. He wasn't going to stand by and watch you slowly destroy yourself
Husk often started talking to you about your burns. At first you tried to translate the topic, but you couldn't do it forever and you had to admit that you really did it yourself. Husk tried to find the reason for this, trying not to be too rude. He understood that you were emotionally vulnerable and his rude words could only make things worse, but he could not let the situation take its course
Husk understood that it would take time to figure out the reasons why you started hurting yourself, but he wasn't going to leave you and let you continue to do it. He didn't want you to be hurt, although he rarely showed you his real feelings, hiding them behind rudeness
💣 Cherri Bomb x Reader 🍒
Initially, Cherri didn't know that you were self-harming. You spent a lot of time together and you rarely seemed upset or anxious. However, Cherri still found out about your wounds when she came to you. You were not ready for her visit and did not have time to hide the wounds on your wrists, causing her great anxiety
Cherri was very worried about you. She was worried that you had been hiding it for so long and that you had reasons to hurt yourself. She was genuinely worried about you and wanted to help you, realizing that it was impossible to leave such a difficult situation without attention and that you needed the help of a person you could trust
She began to spend even more time with you, often being interested in your emotional state, providing you with moral support and care. She often hugged you when you were really unbearable. You cried in her arms, feeling that you could no longer contain your emotions. She was ready to listen to everything that tormented you, regardless of the topic of your monologue
She understood that you would need time and was ready to be with you as much as necessary, giving you care and support. She understood that you alone would not be able to cope with this situation and with your experiences, and she was to become your support and support
😈 Blitzø x Reader 🐴
You and Blitzø lived together and every time he came home from work you were always waiting for him. He didn't even know what thoughts you often had in your head. However, when he came home earlier than usual, he saw fresh nail marks on your wrists. He immediately hurried to you to find out who did this to you, but froze when he saw the expression on your face
You were forced to tell him that you were physically hurting yourself. You confessed to him that it was difficult for you emotionally and you couldn't cope with it anymore. He was shocked by your story, but he wasn't going to let you keep hurting yourself
He often began to stay at home and spend time with you. The last thing he wanted was for you to hurt yourself. He listened to what was bothering you and what was causing you discomfort. He tried to help you and cheer you up. He was willing to do a lot to make you feel better
He was willing to put off work to take care of you. You were important to him and he wanted you to be happy. He was ready to help and protect you, support you and listen to you. The last thing he wanted was for you to be hurt
🦉 Stolas x Reader 🎩
You have known Stolas for a long time and for a long time you have been his support and support. You knew that there were many disagreements in his family and you were always ready to listen to him. However, Stolas did not know that you yourself had a lot of problems that you kept to yourself, not wanting to bother him. After he and his wife started the divorce process, he began to visit you often and one day came when you didn't expect it. That's when he saw the frightening cigarette marks on your hands
He immediately started trying to find out from you who did this to you, but you were silent. He thought that you were a victim of violence and intended to find the culprit, but you stopped him by admitting that you did it yourself. You've been leaving burns on your skin for some time and didn't want Stolas to find out about it. You didn't want him to worry about you because he had a lot of his own problems that needed solving. However, Stolas disagreed with you
He convinced you to move into his house. He began to spend a lot of time with you, providing you with moral support, as you have provided this support to him for many years. Stolas was genuinely worried about you and the last thing he wanted was for you to suffer. He treasured you and was ready to help you not only morally but also in any other ways that he had
Stolas has surrounded you with love, care and attention. He sincerely tried to be attentive to your condition. He treated your old burns so that they disappeared without leaving any traces. He didn't tell Octavia about why you started living with them, but she knew you from childhood and didn't mind your presence. Stolas hoped that his care and the company of him and his daughter would help you feel a little easier

Heart Problems~
Tumblr media
Connor Stoll x gn reader
Connor is completely in love with you, too bad you’re trying to set him up with someone else.
Part 2 Dear Diary, I’m an idiot
~~
Connor knew he had a problem.
He liked to consider himself a pretty self aware person: he knew he was a liar, he knew he could be a bit of an asshole, he knew he would sometimes come off as a bit cold, he knew he was too vindictive, he knew not everyone liked his pranks and now…. he knew he absolutely and completely had a problem.
The problem in question?
He was in love with his best friend.
Now, someone might say “ok, Connor, big deal, everyone gets crushes sometimes”.
But this wasn’t just a simple crush.
People with a crush don’t feel their hearts implode in their chests when they see the person they like smile.
People with a crush absolutely do not feel every single cell in their body beg to see the person they like every time they’re not there.
People with a crush would feel naturally rejected and maybe a bit sad if the person they liked did not return their feelings.
But as much as it would have probably killed him from inside out, Connor just wanted you to be happy, even if it wasn’t with him.
He couldn’t risk confessing to you and ruin your friendship. It was too important, you were too important.
The price just wasn’t worth the risk, he was happy just being your friend, being close to you was enough, seeing you smile at him even if it was platonic was enough, laughing and joking around with you was enough.
(He felt like smashing his head against a wall repeatedly when he remembered that you would never know how much he truly loved you but he pushed the thought down)
After all if there was one thing Connor Stoll was truly good at that was lying.
~~
The light cascading between the leaves of the tree the two of you were laying against would sometimes fall into your eyes and Connor would feel his heart beat out of his chest.
You were talking about the recent book you had read.
You had always loved reading, your dyslexia made it a bit difficult but when you arrived at camp Chiron taught you how to turn your books into ancient greek texts which helped a lot.
Connor had never really been a fan of reading, partly because of his dyslexia, that every demigod had, but also because he simply found it- boring. He didn’t like staying put and reading required staying still and concentrating, both things he wasn’t very good at.
However he liked listening to you ramble on and on about your favourite books, you could talk about them for hours on end and he would listen to your voice on repeat forever if he could.
(Gods, he was so smitten it was honestly pathetic)
But seeing you so exited about sharing your favourite story with him, he realised that he absolutely did not care about how probably pathetic he was.
“And then! the villain turns out to be….” you trail off for a bit of suspence and he smiles softly.
(he definitely looks like an absolute fool)
“His brother!” you say exited, turning to the book and holding up the page where the protagonist gets betrayed.
Connor smiles surprised “no way, that’s gotta sting-” he says while reading the page you were gesturing to.
(he doesn’t think about how that sound so painfully familiar)
“I know!” you say a mix between excited and frustrated “he was my favourite character too” you groan and Connor laughs “ouch- why do your favourite characters always either die or turn out to be the villain?” he jokes, remembering how in the book you told him about last month, your favourite character sacrificed herself and died.
You throw your head back “i must be cursed- it’s not fair!” you laugh.
(connor wants to record the sound and listen to it forever-)
He grimaces internally at that thought, that wasn’t creepy, right???
He takes your book in his hands, trying to play it cool, trying to pretend that his heart did not flutter at the sound of your laugh “sure, buttercup, i’m sure a god decided to curse every single character you like” he teases you.
You laugh (his heart did not skip a beat- liar) and playfully punch his shoulder at the nickname.
Some voices come from the archery pitch nearby, a few kids of the Apollo cabin joke and laugh loudly among themselves, you glance at them before turning to him with a small smile.
(he pretends not to notice that the smile is not entirely genuine)
“Did you meet the new Apollo kid?” you ask him with a sort of teasing smile that he does not comprehend.
“You mean Remy?” he asks slightly confused, as the counsellor of the Hermes cabin he met lots of new campers that came and went, Remy had arrived last week, they stayed in cabin 11 for two days before getting claimed by Apollo, he wasn’t sure why you were suddenly bringing them up.
“Yeah” you nod, the weird teasing smile still on you lips, “aren’t they cute?” you ask playfully.
Connor is really really not sure what he should answer, it’s not that he doesn’t agree because objectively speaking Remy was indeed attractive, he just never really thought about it and all of this seemed extremely random.
“I guess” is best he comes up with, you laugh slightly “you guess?” you ask between laughs “what kind of answer is that?”.
Connor rolls his eyes and pushes your shoulder playfully “shut up, i just don’t understand this sudden interest in Remy” he tells you.
You shrug, smirking at him (his stupid heart should just explode with how many time it flutters or skips a beat).
You nudge him with your elbow playfully “a little birdie told me that Remy has a crush on you” you wink.
oh.
ohh.
For a second his brain malfunctions… were you- were you trying to set him up with someone?!??!
The worst thing about all of this is that- you look so casual about it. It shouldn’t hurt this much, he knows you don’t feel the same, this isn’t a surprise, he already knew- he already made peace with this fact.
(or at least he should have already made peace with this fact)
Connor swallows his hurt and tries not to think about the way he feels as if a knife had been thrown straight into his heart.
“Really?” he tells you as absentmindedly as he can.
Thankfully he’s a good liar and you don’t notice, you nod happily “yess, and if you want- you can meet them after the campfire near the Apollo cabin” you say smugly.
(the imaginary knife twists painfully in his chest)
Connor would really like to give you a big genuine smile, just make you happy since you seem so exited about this, however the best thing he can muster is a small smile and “i’ll think about it.”
The conversation ends there, you go back to reading your book with a satisfied smile and Connor goes back to dying internally.
He shouldn’t feel this dejected, but he really can’t help it, he’s not sure what’s worst about this story.
The irony that Remy asked the person he’s in love with to set them up together, or the fact that you actually accepted and tried.
He’s not angry at Remy, the new demigod has no fault, and Connor doesn’t blame them or resent them for shooting their shot with him.
(they’ve got way more courage than him, he’s such a coward)
The wind blows softly in his curls and as he looks at you, his heart flutters once more.
The knife twists deeper and Connor curses himself and his stupid stupid heart, Aphrodite, Eros and every other love deity he knows.
But as you smile to yourself while reading a particularly interesting passage in your book he decides that this pain is not so bad.

Whoaaaa holy shit something just snapped into place reading you mention the concept of creating a shape of negative space bc i've been thinking so long abt the "unspoken things/quiet part" of characters. I've often had this feeling that fandom will go a million and nine yards to red string board an ocean of depth for their favorite blorbo over.... what comes down to what's technically extrapolating based off of xyz canon, but said canon will be like "this character fidgets once, half his dialogue is quoting an in-universe play he tries to recreate (by ruining ppl's lives), and he doesn't understand why someone wouldn't want to be called a monster, therefore he is AUTISTIC and that drives his logic," or "this character has xyz vague background and is TRAUMATIZED because of WAR" inventing an entire character and it's like. Oh boy. This might be a matter of not being invested enough in these characters to TRY and delve so "deep" but I keep thinking that none of this is actually. written or feels purposeful in the context of How Storytelling Works/the Narrative to MAKE me invest or think that it's worth doing so. I always wonder how many people are trying so hard to project a better story onto something without understanding that the story actually needs to BE THERE and ADDRESSED, even subtly, and token moments aren't enough. But then that gets me thinking about how Thereness needs to exist for something to be subtle but written as opposed to Conspiracy off loose projection.
I was kinda thinking abt Laudna and how to use her as an example, because she's one of those characters for whom like, yeah I as a person totally understand the cycle of being upbeat and normal and everything and then having a random spiral of Bad Upstairs before being normal again, but narratively how do you portray that and why does everyone do it so much better than her. With equal screentime, everyone feels like they have so much more meat to their motivations and psychology despite some being significantly less fraught backstory wise. What's happening here because things just feel like they come out of nowhere with her with "oh so that matters all of a sudden?"
Hi anon,
Yes to all of this! With regards to your first paragraph - I feel that a lot too. It's a tricky situation because I think it's completely valid to project things onto characters and imagine them to have specific qualities that either you have or simply that you wish to see in fiction. It only becomes difficult in a fandom sphere when people insist that this is a fully evidence-based endeavor and not a personal interpretation (especially because a lot of that evidence is, as you say, either very much open to interpretation, or else totally spurious. The number of times I've had to shoo people off my posts for talking extensively about how an immensely self-absorbed character who never thinks about others unless forced to clearly has ADHD...but I digress). And as for the conspiracy element, especially when works aren't as good - absolutely. If you haven't read this, which I reblogged a few weeks ago (has Good Omens 2 spoilers) I highly recommend you do because what you're saying resonates a lot with OP's post, both in terms of our need as fans to project or find similarities with characters, and the fact that when people are disappointed by a work sometimes they try to create a better one, but instead of just writing fanfiction and calling it fanfiction they go full conspiracy theorist and assume there's some secret twist, and fall so hard into that all-crumbs-no-schnitzel (to borrow a metaphor from that post) fanon echo chamber they forget it is, in fact, only fanon.
Which brings us to Laudna. Before I go deeper I want to cover three things. First: for me at least, this criticism comes because I know Marisha is capable of doing this negative space work. It didn't come up much with Keyleth since we kind of knew her whole deal very early (which, to be clear, is valid; not every character needs this), but it's present with both Beau (her relationship to her father is masterfully done; the hallmark of good negative space work is that when the reveal comes you say oh of course) and to a lesser extent Patia, who, like all the Calamity characters, conveys a story much greater than the one that unfolds over a single night. Second: I think part of why a number of us in the fandom are so frustrated is that we have been doing that work of generously interpreting Laudna since the beginning, but nothing ever sticks, so it's becoming less and less worth the effort.
I'd have to go back through my archives pretty extensively, but early on, the going expectation for Laudna was that she would explore the idea of being one of the bystanders in a larger story as someone killed simply because of a passing resemblance to someone the Briarwoods wished to send a message to; that we'd get insight into Whitestone during the occupation from someone who wasn't freed by Vox Machina but rather killed, indirectly, because of them. However, not only have we not gotten that, but she also was chosen for being special: Delilah chose her as a vessel because of her inherent sorcery. So then it was perhaps about that tension between finding power in her sorcery vs. warlock levels - Pâté seemed like a clear setup for Pact of the Chain, after all - but then Marisha admitted she had no intention of taking that third warlock level, and always just planned to play Laudna as exclusively leveling in sorcerer, until FCG attacked. And meanwhile, there's no exploration of those sorcery powers, either.
Speaking only for myself, I've been interrogating "hey, why is her backstory that she was chased out of everywhere but for the most part everyone is mostly fine with her?" and "in 30 years she did nothing about Delilah? Really?" for quite some time. There's a number of questions that are not just unanswered, but lack the hints that this negative space work would provide. And to be clear there are ways to explain those things! This meta does a good job of talking through why she may have been chased out, and I've floated, in the past, that even Delilah's unwelcome presence was better than the absolute silence of being truly alone. But the work to support these fandom theories, again, is not really being done at the table, and moreover, even if it starts being done...it's episode 70. It should have come up in some capacity.
Marisha said (to be clear, somewhat jokingly) in the 2022 ComicCon panel that "Yeah. I don't want to think anymore. I'm tired," re: Laudna but the thing is...honestly, in my opinion? A character with Laudna's premise requires far more work than Beau or Keyleth to do well. Not only is she tied into one of the most famous events and entwined with one of the most famous villains of Campaign 1, but she's got 50 years of backstory! Beau and Keyleth are in their early 20s! (I could make a whole other post about this but character intelligence does not equal how hard they are to play; Imogen is an immensely tough concept that Laura's doing a good job with and she's lower INT than Laudna. I'd rather play a wizard than a character like Grog any day of the week because I genuinely believe that the acting burden for making a character like Grog sympathetic and believable without going into cheap mockery and parody is immense).
Going back to that statement, it really does feel as though every 4-Sided Dive episode or panel, when Marisha talks about Laudna, it's always just that she was envisioned as being over her trauma, and the premise was always just "make that creepy girl from her nightmare". And even then: it's fine if she'd done that - simply made a creepy character who was here to be creepy and cheerfully macabre - but through gameplay it's become clear that Laudna is not over that trauma (her arrested development being one of many options), and has acquired new traumas to boot, and for that matter never was really over it given that she displays intensely but they come up so inconsistently that there's never any follow-through. I agree with you completely that the idea of her often seeming fine and happy and then having spirals is believable and true to life, but one does need to actually follow through on the spirals - I think a lot of us finally threw up our hands when Laudna's believable, well-played, and justifiable anger and resentment after being thrown across the world away from half the party, essentially pushed into a fight that isn't her own, being betrayed by Bor'Dor, and feeling Delilah's return melted away without resolution. If you want to make a character who's over their trauma and go-with-the-flow, I feel as though step 1 is to not have an eternal reminder of one's trauma permanently stuck in one's head. "Warlock who dislikes their patron" is actually a premise that requires quite a lot of thinking and effort, and we are consistently not seeing it.
I think what's most telling is that the defense of Laudna for the weird freakout this past episode is both vehement, and in conflict with itself. Is Marisha just making a joke (that didn't really land with anyone at the table nor much of the fandom, and was taken at least semi-seriously by both)? Or is it actually great and good that Laudna is incredibly traumatized and clingy and we should all hope she becomes even more clingy and codependent? When even the people who are shielding Laudna from even a whisper of criticism can't agree what Marisha's doing, it's pretty dire, especially when that criticism is "this character feels directionless and incoherent."
So getting back to negative space: It's my hunch that there just...wasn't a lot of clarity to Laudna's motivations, and the questions in her backstory weren't answered. She's creepy and she's kooky, Sun Tree corpse, Delilah in her head, met Imogen two years ago, was friends with a little girl at some point (which we only know from 4-Sided Dive, which is, to be clear, bad that it's never come up in-game). We don't know how she feels about her sorcery powers other than a vague enjoyment of their creepiness...but she also sees them as a way out from Delilah...but she also barely engages with Delilah and hasn't done anything to get rid of her. We have no sense of how she got to "the worst thing that's happened to me already happened" because while it's completely fair to play her as feeling that way 30 years later, I highly doubt she felt that way as she cut herself down from the Sun Tree. So as a result, it's hard to pick a direction because that foundation is lacking.
The thing about that negative space is that to do it well, you really need to know what you're trying to convey. Which is also why, as you say, characters with much simpler backstories are fine; Fearne was basically hanging out at her grandmother's place until EXU and her parents left when she was very young; she is curious about her parents and loves her grandmother and is a chaotic fey entity who was sent into the Material Plane with the Weave Lens, and mostly she just wants to explore and have fun and hang out with her friends. Ashley just needs to...play Fearne like that, which she does with aplomb. The complex setup for Laudna demands a huge number of answers in the backstory, and my guess is that Marisha does not have them. I think the problem isn't with the acting (in fact, I'm fairly confident it isn't, because, again, I know from past characters Marisha can do this); it's that Laudna's concept prioritized the aesthetic, mechanics, and facts of the backstory, and didn't adequately fill in her beliefs and motivations, so she's just flailing. I also suspect from the most recent 4-Sided Dive and the most recent SDCC panel that Marisha is specifically looking for interparty conflict, and to be clear that's valid...but again, to do that believably and well, Laudna's philosophy and motivations and characterization need to be much more clearly established than they are.

Rereading that Camilla Tominey article, I can’t help but see it, there’s some truth to Meghan claiming she was “thrown into the wolves.” Reading that article, it makes me realize that jt seems unlikely to me now to read an article saying perhaps that Camilla and Kate hate each other right now. I’m sure there have been disagreements between other royals too and Kate and Meghan aren’t the first ones to butt heads. I guess what Meghan wanted was to be protected just as much. She wanted to minimize the gravity of her behavior, for example, with the excuse that perhaps she isn’t the first royal ever in history to be horrible to staff. In her mind, and she might even be right to a degree about this, she was the one who had a bullying complaint handed to her because of misogyny or classism or racism. It’s girlboss feminism 101, if the male heirs like Charles and William, for example, are allowed to be horrible to staff, so shouldn’t she? I’m not saying I believe William had been horrible to staff, but there’s an article that says sometimes staff have to guess where the wind is blowing with him. The point is, the staff see William as a boss with authority that they respect his space to be allowed to not always be in the mood. While in Meghan’s mind, she wasn’t allowed to have her emotions get the best of her. It’s obvious this is how she feels given the entire premise of her podcast Archetypes, where she thinks labels are assigned to women for behavior that may be normal to men. And perhaps, this is why the bullying report went nowhere when it reached Clarence House, because Charles knew his record isn’t exactly spotless.
Giving all involved parties as much benefit of the doubt as possible, I don’t think Meghan started her royal journey as a complete lying psychopath. She was someone who felt disappointed over time and grew embittered. And I can’t help but feel like she certainly had reason to. I mean, who were Camilla Tominey’s sources? In Spare, Harry said he, Meghan, William, and Kate concluded that it was Camilla and Charles. But what would Camilla and Charles’ motives be? I don’t know. I guess, reading that original article, it’s throwing both women under the bus, and in the end it paints Charles as the one who gets along with Meghan. Who would want to be in a family like that? Why let it be known that there was conflict? Somebody fucked up.
But also, I do believe Meghan is a difficult person with an extemely narrow-minded point of view. I do believe Kate was extremely offended by something Meghan said, and she possibly cried as well. Based on the Spare narrative, I think it may have been the baby brain comment. Meghan cried but it was not because of something Kate said particularly. This is what stands out to me on the Spare narrative. Meghan cried because things were piling up and her dad got hospitalized, so the fact she explicitly said on Oprah that Kate made her cry is not categorically correct, which is what makes me side eye her. But, I think, empathizing with the pressure Meghan was under, Kate took responsibility and claimed the fault, which is what gave Meghan the audacity to be self-righteous and be like “she admitted it was her fault, she sent me flowers!” However, Kate also stood up for herself by making Meghan understand that she was hurt by something Meghan said, but Meghan was immediately defensive about it.
Anyway, I think someone in the family fucked up (Charles and Camilla if it’s true that they were the source). But also, Meghan fucked up by 1.) making a mess on William’s turf where her behavior is not acceptable and b.) making Kate the focal point of her attacks.
Thanks for this!
Meghan was absolutely right to feel that she felt like she'd been fed to the wolves and it was misogynstic that everyone protected William and Charles instead of her. But what Meghan seemed to miss was that if she wanted to be covered by palace protection, she had to play the game by their rules. Meghan had made it very clear from the beginning that she was going to do it her own way, protocol and expectations be damned.
This is the same experience that Diana, Sarah, Sophie, and Kate went through. Diana and Sarah didn't have any trouble with the palace or media coverage until they stopped doing it the palace way. Sophie started out not doing it the palace way, got in some major trouble, then very quickly shifted to do it the palace's way - and she hasn't had any scandals since. Kate has always followed the palace way and hasn't had any scandals; the one scandal she did have (short floaty skirts that flew up in the wind), she fixed it with longer hemlines, tighter shapes, and dress weights.
This is what she had been told over and over again: to get the protection of the palace, she had to earn it and to earn it, she needed to do what they said. She didn't. She told everyone she knew better, refused all help that was offered, and then when she didn't get the results she expected (fame and adoration on Kate levels), she complained she wasn't being helped.
And everything piling up on Meghan around/at the time of the wedding certainly could have caused her to lose control and cry (who among us hasn't?), but let's not forget that Meghan knows, very clearly, how to weaponize her emotions to manipulate people. And she told us that herself, with her "one tear, left eye, go" comment. Yes, it was a comment made in a discussion about acting skills/talent, but the point remains that Meghan knows the power and effectiveness of being able to cry and emote on demand.
Also, Clarence House's motive has always been to position Charles and Camilla on top. You have to remember what it was like back in 2018: it was all Fab Four, nothing but the Fab Four. William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan were in a wildly successful and popular partnership, ranking at the top of the popularity polls and getting all the headlines. It's easier to tear a group down if you tear them apart first. So for Clarence House to brief Cambridges vs. Sussexes, then their goal was to split the brothers and undermine their relationship so they're fighting each other instead of fighting in unison against Charles/Clarence House. They're doing the dirty work against each other, leaving Clarence House to get off scot-free, looking positively fresh and rosy by positioning themselves "above the fray," focused on their work and their service.
In other words, Charles was trying to prevent William and Harry from doing to him, or using their popularity to do to him, what he and Andrew had done to The Queen (forced her to do something that she didn't want because they claimed they knew better). And frankly, the plan worked a little too well. Not only have the Cambridges and the Sussexes totally split, it detonated a powder keg that irrevocably and irreparably destroyed the royal family as we know it.
That really boils and strips it down to the bare essence of what was going on. It doesn't take into consideration all the complexities and everything else that was also happening at the same time - Harry and Meghan being newlyweds, Meghan being pregnant, The Royal Foundation expanding, William becoming more heir-like, Harry trying to find his footing without the military, the clash of personalities, the clash of culture (UK vs US), Kate supporting James through his mental health crisis, the role and influence of the press, the phone-hacking lawsuit/settlement, Philip retiring, Andrew and the Yorkies jockeying for position, etc. That analysis may even overestimate the role Clarence House played in setting Kensington Palace on a collision course to civil war.
But the point is that Charles and Camilla/Clarence House have always used the Cambridges/Waleses to help their popularity and improve their standing in public sphere. They've been doing it ever since 1998 when they leaked William had met Camilla, which implied that he approved of the relationship in hopes that the public would think "well, if William doesn't hate her then we shouldn't hate her either." That's their motive for leaking to Camilla T.; they wanted to undermine the stability in the Fab Four so the Charles-Camilla PB partnership could take precedence in power, popularity, and headlines.

Do INFJ’s get hurt easily?
There's a secret most infj's dont tell others, or sometimes they themselves aren't concious of it.
When you observe infj's, there are a few signs that stand out from all the rest. Infj's are deeply driven to live a full and inspired life, they want to experience meaning and beauty to its absolute core, and they also perceive the deep, beautiful, and painful emotions entangled in the human experience. This makes them very intense people. If you've ever had an infj open their heart to you, it is an intense experience. They have a passion for affection that's unique.
When I say see, I mean they can observe other people and pick up the smallest emotional details of their lives, building a theme of what that person is experiencing, has experienced, and at times…what they may experience in the future. They don't just perceive the theme of anothers sorrows and anguish, but also the details, painting a picture of others with a pallette of colors and a variety of brushes. If they can see someone is lonely, they might add a whole plethora of other characteristics, such as that same person being kind, or defensive, insecure, tying all of these emotions together into a holistic picture.
This is a beautiful trait of Ni+Fe, and no other personality sees emotions so clearly. While infj's do this, they rarely outwardly articulate what they see, preferring to keep their knowledge internal, and adjusting themselves to act in a way that's fitting towards those they observe. (I want to emphasize that this ability is a good trait of infj's, they are not “wrong” for being this way, their emotional perception is a blessing.)
They do this for a few reasons. Infj's have learned that if they manifest what they know, it has a massive impact on the other. In addition, what infj's perceive is difficult to articulate, as it exists in an emotional, ethereal realm, and concretely explaining what you see to others is hard to find the right language for. Worse yet, there are times that if the infj spoke bluntly the other person would not be emotionally aware enough within themselves to grasp the depth of their own experience.
This puts infj's in a position where they can genuinely see others, but rarely connect with them at the level in which they see. This isn't a small problem, when you mine into it, the deeper you go the darker and more painful it gets. Every infj, at one point in their lives, attempted to connect with another at this level, and at the least it's likely they experienced a sorrowful lack of reciprocation. When they did, the infj was innocent, trying to express their real selves, only to be misunderstood, burnt, or rejected. This happens all the time for infj's, and it leaves them extremely lonely. To have such a big heart with no avenue to express yourself makes you feel completely unseen. This is why infj's are social chameleons: They cannot trust that if they're their authentic selves, they will be seen or accepted. In reality, this is true. The vast majority of personalities *cannot* see and understand infj's. Very few can. Infj's dont just feel misunderstood, they *are* misunderstood. This is because Ni insights are a one way street, those who don't have Ni cannot reciprocate the understanding that comes from it, and that understanding just happens to be deep, rare, and hard to articulate.
Optional reading to know why deep infj connections are rare:
(Because Ni/Ne revolves around meaning and beauty it is deep. Only 4 personalities share Ni in top slots, with an additional 4 possessing high Ne traits. The enfj is well positioned to see and care for infj's, but at the expense of a logical connection. Trickster Fe puts an interesting spin on intj's. Intj's can build intellectual connections, but theyre amongst the worst personality to develop deep emotional connections with, although it appears in some cases this isnt always true. Entj's with a developed Inferior Fi have the capacity to understand infj's emotionally and intellectually, but infj's will have a hard time understanding entj's because of Trickster Te. Therefore, of the 16 personalities, only a few others are equipped to meet infj's emotionally where they're at, in the deep, beautiful, and true realm of Ni/Ne insights, and four of them lean heavily towards Thinking traits. These make up 2.5% (enfj), 1.7%(entj) and 2.1%(intj)of the population (5.3%), as well as Ne users. Entj's don't develop Inferior Fi until 30+ years old, if at all, so it would be rare and require exact timing/development for this pair to form a strong emotional connection, although I imagine the safety infj's can provide may expedite this blooming. Infj's can form various other connections with people, but not at the deepest levels of Ni/Ne. Because these numbers and connection implications are real, they're explanatory to the infj's feelings of isolation.
There's a concept that needs to be grasped here:
*If nobody can see you, then you are nothing.*
But if somebody can see you, then they are everything, but that everything never comes, no matter how hard you try, no matter how much you bleed, no matter how much you give.
Herein sits the very core of the infj's sorrow. They feel like they are nothing because nobody can see them the way they see others. Suffice to say this is typically true for all personalities on one level or another, but because infj's see deeper and emotionally, it affects them more profoundly. At least a magnitude larger than any other personality. The rarity of infj's amplifies isolation. An infj's Parent Fe inclines them to need someone they can love, which is unique amongst the parent functions, and they love fiercely.
Because of this, infj's have an acute empathy for the pain of others, particularly with lonliness and castigation, because lonliness and castigation is the default life experience of infj's, at one level or another. Now, they not only see people, but they also embody others pain *through themselves*. This is why they're referenced as having a martyr vibe, but it comes from sincere experience: They seek to “save” others in emotional pain because *they know* what it feels like.
The innocent logic of Ti struggles to make sense of why infj's aren't accepted when they readily understand and accept others. Because this is a deeply painful experience, infj's reason that one can become valuable if they learn specific skills, and they're at risk of seeing people's value according to what they do, because infj's are not valued for who they are. Because of this, every infj has put effort into developing a special talent(s), and they are often perfectionistic and critical towards themselves in this pursuit because of the pain that underlies it. If only they could be perfect at what they do, then maybe their value could be recognized. This is wrong. Infj's are valuable for who they *are*.
This is why they can end up with narcissists, or other scarred people, because *more than anything, they can deeply connect with anothers pain, because this is what they know and experience. *
So are infj's easily hurt? Not particularly, but singularly: If you represent hope to an infj in terms of actually seeing them and caring for them in return, and if this hope is diminished in any way, it will be deeply painful, sometimes even fatal.
Infj's know this, and that is why they choose a very few number of people to actually open themselves up to, they need to first trust that they can, but because they often pick those who are hurting, the odds of them finding a person whos in pain but not maladaptive *is significantly lower*. Not only do they pick those who are hurting, but often these people have no real wavelength in which they can reciprocate deep empathy or understanding, because Ni+Fe is unique in this, and only a handful of other personalties have the functional sophistication to perceive infj's for who they are at core levels.
After being burnt a few times, infj's decide not to try anymore, and you can't blame them.
This is why they find it difficult to find longterm relationships, why they can tend to end up alone. Sometimes they end up alone even while in a bound relationship, suffering, and remaining to be unseen. The world cannot understand or accept the deep, intense and childlike love infj's wish to give, and it's a sorrow that burdens the subconcious of the infj daily. The plaguing thought ringing in stillness echoes “Nobody loves me”.
In the deepest recess of the infj's heart, they're intimately aware of this, and within this realm, you can easily hurt them. In a sense, the love infj's wish to give and receive isn't an ideal, it's a reality of how love *should be experienced*, it's not the concept that's wrong, it's that there are just very few people who can fathom, experience, and share love at this depth. In reality, other people who lack this depth aren't wrong either, they just don't have the potential within themselves to experience love in these terms. There's something fascinating to realize about this exchange. Inasmuch as the possibility of exchanging love at this level appears very rare for a variety of the above stated reasons, at least *it is* possible for a smaller group of people. I haven't quite figured out the limit, but it's very possible that the full depth of this love can only be shared with other Ni users, a deeper but not the deepest level with Ne users, and the least levels with Sensors, as this represents the different functional potentials embodied from conceptually deepest to conceptually nonexistent, remembering that an ideal can only be fathomed and boundless within the realm of potential and imagination *before* it can become manifest in reality. So then it's not the ideal then that's wrong, but in the same way a jewel is rare and not common, so is the full experience of this ideal. This is the nature of how it appears to me, and I believe my grasp of the dynamics is fairly accurate. In many ways, infj's can conjure love in idealistic terms from Ni, and then actually implement their affections via Fe, which is nothing less than extraordinary. One can imagine why not having this reciprocated feels like a serious loss.
I counsel infj's to only seek those who can see you as a first priority, and don't be lured by another person's ache. You must be sure you are being seen *first* before even thinking about proceeding in relationships. You *will not* find many. It may take years, even decades, but they *are* out there. I understand there's a sense that if you cannot connect through pain, then the other can't fully understand your experience, and this is a legitimate concern. However, it should not be the driving factor in your relationships, rather, look for people who are gentle, kind, and generally able to intuitively connect, and then seek to connect through pain as a secondary goal. When somebody genuinely connects with you, you can't miss it, especially if it's in your own wavelength.
Also, please recognize that your ability to see people in this way is a real gift, truly. In a way your particular functions make you more alive than anyone, which is the cost of often feeling more grief than anyone. You have been chosen out of others to be this way. Your vision of what love can be is inspiring, and quite frankly everyone should adopt it, it's what we were created for.

Fanfiction writing and posting culture has shifted so much over the last 20 years. Every time I read anything on r/fanfiction, not only do I lose brain cells, but I feel like a huge, huge part of fanfiction culture has moved toward reading only completed works and avoiding engagement at all cost, but particularly until a work is finished. There was a post yesterday by someone celebrating the fact that a fic they had on alert updated because it had "been so long" since the last update: it was a wait of one and a half months.
That isn't that long for a writer with a spouse and/or children and/or a busy career and/or someone busting ass at school and/or a life outside and off the internet.
While a lot of comments did chastise this person for their perceived idea of a long wait for an update, there were also a few comments from readers proclaiming that this was why they never read incomplete works.
Heck, there were one or two (upvoted!) comments about how writers should simply pre-write everything if they wanted feedback.
Don't get me started on the posts by people that read hundreds of fics a week and yet never comment. "Gosh, I wish I there were more fics for xyz." As if there's not something they can do about that by simply commenting on the works that do exist to show the authors the content they made has an audience!
As a fanfic writer specifically, I find this weird attitude toward the creative work of other people more than a bit discouraging (and sometimes deeply uncomfortable). Fanfiction, like fanart, is a social experience. I create a thing and then others engage with it to encourage me to do more of the thing. I am not a machine and I do not exist for your entertainment or pleasure, but the way fandom leans these days would lead you to believe authors and artists exist for the purpose of consumption.
I am a whole person and doing this costs me my time. For a long story, many many hours of time.
I don't think it's asking too much for people who took the time to read a story (and in particular those who enjoy it) to engage with it.
This doesn't even touch the weird "I only read completed fics" mindset and how it feels to see that sentiment echoed as an author.
"Just write it all in advance before posting it then." Do you even know how long it takes to write a story—to write a longform fic with a plot to completion?
Break Open the Sky was 102,000 words long (and this is short compared to a lot of longfics, so keep that in mind). Even if you assume a writing speed of 1,000 words an hour (generous, because some difficult passages will be much slower to write), that is a whopping 102 hours. That doesn't include the time I had to spend to go back and re-read to continue the story. That doesn't include outlining. That doesn't include note-taking. That doesn't including mapping out locations and distance for travel. That doesn't include editing or formatting to post, either, which took hours per chapter.
I have to sacrifice something else to be able to write. No video games, no movies, no books, no television, no nap, no goofing off online.
Comments become a big motivation, especially on a WIP. It doesn't feel like a waste of time then, to get a little less sleep or take a little less time for yourself; it gives the writer something to look forward to: interaction and socialization with fellow fans. And I don't think the cost is that high for a reader compared to the hundreds of hours it might have cost me to be able to show it to them in the first place.
But nope, r/fanfiction is really out there complaining that fics don't update (even though they didn't bother to comment) and that longfics aren't finished before they start being posted (even though they still don't comment as the story is being posted) and then complaining that there aren't enough fics for [ship]/[trope] even though they are really out there refusing to engage in fandom in a meaningful way that might encourage authors whose work they enjoy to continue to create.
TL;DR: creation costs time.

I’ve written myself into a corner for an idea I’ve had for a while, but never seen nor managed to fully attempt. I seen stories of mage!readers, but never any of well, the mages. The ones that sealed away monsters, the seven. And I had the idea to add Baggs, but I’ve generally hit a brick wall because??? I’m not sure how’d he respond? I mean, typically someone as intriguing as a mage would catch his radar, but we’re talking the literal reason in most multiverses including his own, why monsters are trapped underground? Do you have any helpful suggestions or insights?
Weeeellll, this is difficult to answer completely because he's not mine, he just lives rent-free in my head and struts around like he owns the place, but I'll give it a shot here.
To start, this assumes that the mages from the war are still alive, which insinuates a couple things:
Either they're incredibly long-lived, or the war wasn't all that long ago. I default on the former, but it's your worldbuilding and it's up for you to decide
If the above isn't true, there's time travel or dimensional warping or something similar involved,
I have a couple of headcanons and scenarios I've thought about re: Baggs Meets a Mage (who isn't Ren/not in the R&R verse)
Mages don't look any different than humans most of the time (unless they follow my 'monster x human hybrid' rule, which means they sometimes have monstrous traits) so they can fly under the radar with monsters unless
They have the aforementioned monstrous traits (again, in line with my headcanons and continuity/multiverse theory for the UTMV)
Use magic in front of a monster
Outwardly look like a mage via clothing and/or weapon choices
Are in an encounter where they can be CHECKed
Baggs might treat a mage as he treats any other human. Cautious, observing their movements, trying to get a good, concise read of them to determine whether or not he has to do something about them, and proceeding from there. He can't Judge anymore so he has to leave it up to intuition, because he sure as shit isn't initiating an encounter, and startling a potentially dangerous human is a bad idea re: his magic. He doesn't usually open with it unless he's sure he'll be successful, or at the very least, it won't be as much of a fight to get them under.
If/when he figures out they're a mage, that's when he becomes a bigger problem for them. He hasn't had the chance to study a mage before. Are their souls stronger than standard human souls? How does mage magic hold up to monster magic? Similarities, differences, limitations, all of the things he knows about monster magic he will want to learn about mage magic. He'd definitely be interested in keeping them somewhere he could observe them, so chances are, they'd be down in the lower lab in some room or cell.
He isn't cruel, first and foremost, so he'd approach them and the situation as if they were a guest and kind of... subtly nudge them into compliance with his charisma rather than resorting to his magic-- it might color his data. He'd make bargains and deals, reward good behavior, and be about as much of an open book as he can be for information exchanges.
But he'll never tell about his ace-in-the-hole hypnosis magic. that's insurance.
A compliant and agreeable mage will find him pleasant company. If he deems them not a threat, accommodations and privileges get better and more relaxed. If he feels like he can trust them, he loosens the reins a little and lets them have a bit more freedom.
A combative and potentially dangerous mage will find him holding them at arm's length and treating them with cold, clinical professionalism. If he feels like he's in danger, he'll absolutely subdue them, and if his magic doesn't work as anticipated, he has sedatives. He doesn't play games with his safety, so if it's in question, they're going to be treated as a threat and he handles them as such.
Specifically, with a mage who was in the war;
He'd be very interested in firsthand accounts of what happened. How was the barrier put up? What kind of magic is it, how was it cast? Why would mages turn on monsters when they, too, can cast magic? Were they truly jealous, or was there something more behind the conflict? Half of his lines of questioning will be less about their magic and more about their history. He's heard a few firsthand accounts from the few remaining veterans of the war, but hearing it from a human mage is different. It gives him the other side of the story rather than the one-sided version from monster history.
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, he wouldn't treat a mage who helped erect the barrier with any animosity if it wasn't directed at him first. He thinks having them stuck down here is its own poetic justice. Trapped in the very cage they helped create-- the irony does not escape him.
More than that, he has someone who knows how that magic works and might well be motivated to help remove said magic. He will play up this fact hard, leaving little tidbits in conversation about how long it's been, how they've all been struggling to escape and, oh... if only there was someone who could help. He's been trying so very hard, you know. He's oh so tired.
To sum up in a sort of tl;dr: He's reactive to how he's treated, and good behavior goes a long way with him. Hostility will be met with hostility in return, and he will subdue a threat by whatever means necessary, medical or magical. He's not cruel, so he won't resort to dubious means of gathering or extracting information, and his magic is his carefully guarded trump card. Words and charisma are just as good at getting information as prising it by force via hypnosis. He'll manipulate a mage into doing what he wants, doubly so if they helped make the barrier. Building a positive relationship with him via trust makes him much more pleasant to be around and he might even, eventually, step out of the realm of professionalism and into intrapersonal. A negative relationship gets a mage treated as a prisoner or subject, and he's cautious and cold in the extreme. But never cruel. This is not a man who does or even would resort to torture for anything. The very worst he'd do is gaslight. He is still a monster in a canon-adjacent-AU. His soul is made of love, compassion, and hope, as all monsters are. It is not and cannot be in his nature to cause undue suffering, and in the end, his highest motivators are to ensure the safety and eventual release of the underground, and to keep his brother happy. Almost everything he does is driven by those two things.
Got way long-winded lmfao but this is something I've thought a fair bit about, so you're lucky anon! (Most especially because I have a mage character who has a kind of interesting dynamic with him in the bits and pieces of drabbles and brainrot I've done with them.)
I hope this bit of character analysis helps you get out of your corner!

Could you spare a crumb of general Beckett headcanons?
[Here you go! This is just some of my understandings of the character, and the ideas might change later on down the road]
While most everyone, including himself, would think that he is one of the smartest and most calculating kindred to live (so to speak), there are many, many times where he’s just flying by on guesses, knee-jerk reactions, and an inordinate amount of luck.
Don’t get it wrong, he is extremely intelligent and a master of planning when he needs to be, he’s always been more of a creature of action, and convinces everyone that it was all planned. Himself as well, sort of a, “I’m so good a planning, i even surprise myself sometimes!” attitude.
Going off of that, he is very conceited. He would argue confident is the correct term, perhaps self assured. However, it well passed the line of, “being sure of one’s self,” to, “being full of one’s self.”
Thing about it though is that it’s not a malicious sort of conceit. It’s more of a, “I’m better than everyone else, therefore I am the best teacher for everyone else.” Look at those other people, it’s so sad how they have to struggle over the simplest thing that he is moved, nay, obligated to show them the error of their ways.
As long as it doesn’t do anything that could put himself or his current objective at risk.
A good example of this is his interactions with the fledgling during the events of VTMB. He might not go out of his way to follow them, at least not purposely, and when he realizes the imminent danger in LA he gets the hell out of dodge, but when he does meet up with them, he gives truly helpful advise and even talks to them in a gentler, almost brotherly tone as opposed to the majority of their other interactions.
That being said, once he does run into someone he deems to be truly on his level, or god forbid, above it, he can get a bit pissy. He’ll keep it tone down as long as all parties are cordial, but the first glimmer of rivalry or contempt, then he is not going to be tolerating that person in any way, shape, or form
Similarly, he has very little problem letting pompous people know that he sees them as such. There’s that whole thing where a prince made him reveal what he actually thought of him, but I do get the feeling that the prince didn’t have to delve too deep to get to those feelings either.
He’s an interesting case of trying to be suave while simultaneously neither not carrying or not completely knowing how. Ends up being so in his own oddball sort of way. That is, he’s so unapologetically himself that it ends up being more appealing than people that put on airs.
This however can make it rather difficult to read the room. Almost can’t grasp why people wouldn’t have the same thought process as him.
He will make an effort to listen and understand where he might be mistaken, but only if it’s done in a courteous manner. Finds the whole process as a puzzle to solve rather than an actual faux pas.
Might seem like an oxymoronic statement, but he is one of the kinder hearted kindred. He still partakes in the more violent aspects of the other vampires, but only when he has to. It’s sort of his way to combat his nature as a gangrel and the perception that all kindred from that clan are little more than the beast that inhabits them.
Even with that, a kind wolf is still a wolf. If you’re not careful of what you’re doing or where you are, our dear anthropologist with bite and bite hard. When things get messy with him, they get violently messy.
Sort of like, other than changing into animals when he needs to, he keeps his more bestial nature under such a tight lock and key, that when there’s a reason to actually let it out, he’s got months worth of beast rage pent up there.
While he doesn’t mind it where people call him an history or archeologist, he does much prefer for people to more specific term of anthropologist. Sees it as it being as misleading or incorrect as referring to someone as an artist or a painter when they were actually a sculptor.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi x reader
"Jealousy"
EXPLICIT CONTENT. I have so many ideas but it's difficult for me to write it all since I'm kinda weak in English :(
Kurotsuchi Mayuri, a captain of the 12th Division, a mad and a cruel scientist, yes he is and everyone knows that. No one dare to anger him, not to mention approaching him. He is the last person that you want to mess with, the one who will fuck up you up and turn your life into a nightmare. However, the creepy captain sure has a soft side that no one knows, because he's good at hiding it.
"Akon, can you please pass me that paperwork over there" you said, fingers still typing on the keyboard, eyes completely locked on the computer, reading all the collected data that had been displayed on the screen. With the paper on his hand, Akon bowed down like the gentleman he is, handing it over to you. "Anything for you, my princess" he said in a flirty way, with a huge grin on his handsome face. He took your hand and place a quick kiss on it, as a joke, of course. "Ewwwwwww" Rin who had been watching the two of you is disgusted and couldn't focus on what he's doing.
Standing up from your chair, your fingers pinched the lower part of your lab coat, pulling it slightly upwards and bowing like a princess "Thank you...my prince...pfft" you said, almost laugh at him.
"You think that's funny? Huh, y/n?" Your captain snapped from behind, causing you and Akon went silent and your face turning pale. Slowly, you turned around to see his painted face and greet him with a soft smile which you instantly regretted doing it. Mayuri stares at you for a moment, before he rolls his eyes in annoyance. "Akon, why do you need to be this close to her? You just need to pass the paper, isn't that an easy task to do?"
Akon and Rin were your best friends for a long time, the only two of them besides Nemu you were comfortable with. Your relationship with everyone there is actually pretty good, except with the captain. Captain Kurotsuchi for sure love to put you in hell sometimes, he dislike it when you're getting close with your other colleagues in 12th Division especially when some of them being flirty with you. The only way for him to solves this problem is by dragging you to his private lab and working with him there for entire day. It's kinda confusing because you think that he might like you since he always seems so jealous whenever you're with someone else and yet he seems not, who's know?
"Y/n, you are distracting Akon, so please stop talking to him" says Mayuri. "Captain, it's me who started the conversation first, not Y/n" Akon tries to back you up but Mayuri won't listen to him, raising his slender index finger and pointed at his computer "continue your work, Akon, and I won't repeat myself." he snarled. Akon went silent, he's only nodded and walk away from you two, hoping that the captain doesn't cause you any harm.
You felt something grab your left arm with a strong grip, it was his hand. "Follow me, woman" he said in a harsh tone, you literally pray to all the Gods that you know because he sounds like he's going to kill you. As you two entered his private lab, you saw Nemu standing in front of Mayuri's huge monitor, looking at the two of you in confusion. "Get out of here Nemu, I need to settle this thing between me and Y/n" He said as he pushed Nemu out of his lab.
"Understandable, Mayuri-sama" Nemu answered as she closed the automatic door behind the two of you and walked away from that place.
"What did I do to you?? I don't remember doing anything wrong, in fact I completed all my work and handed it to you on time, I wasn't even rude to you was I?" Pulling your arm from his grip, you backed away from him. He can kill you whenever he wants, he can unleash the power of his Zanpakuto and drown you with poison there. But he didn't, he only watched you in silence. You stared at Mayuri, there was something about him that you just noticed at the moment, it was something unusual about the way he look at you. How long has he been looking at you with such a soft gaze?
Without saying any words, he approached you and pushed you against the wall, caging you between his arm as he roughly kisses you on the lips. "I don't like seeing you with others, you are mine, only mine" he said, pulling away and now kissing your exposed neck. "I don't shares, you know." He pushed your hips down so that your pussy on his left knee which was already between your thighs, forcing you to grinding on it. "You know what to do." He commanded. Mayuri wants to take off your clothes so bad, but something in his mind stopped him.
"No..let she crave for more..craving for my touch.."
"Ca.. captain" you moaned, staring into his eyes as you do what he says. "Id prefer you call me by my name when we do this, so that everyone knows who you belong to"
"M...Mayuri...." You moaned his name, looking at his half opened eyes as you grind your pussy on his knee. You don't even know what you're doing, you were drowning in your own pleasure and lust. The excitement he felt lead him into gripping your neck roughly with his hand.
"That's it...just like that mhmmmm" with that he inserts two of his fingers inside your mouth, shoving them deep and toying with your tongue using his fingers. Thank God it's not the one with long nail......
"If only you didn't aroused my jealousy then you don't have to experience this"
Your hips move back and forth faster than before, almost reaching your own climax. Before that could even happen, he pull his knee from between your thighs and had you fall into a kneeling position in front of him. He lifted up your chin and made you look at him in the eyes. "No, I won't let you cum, stupid"
Both hands gripping your hair as he pressed your face against his clothed dick that still hard, moving up and down slowly as he let out a loud moan. "Mmm.. feels so..good ah.." He pressed himself to your face harder than before that you almost couldn't breathe, the rough texture of his pants brushed against your soft skin.
"Mmm...Ma..mm..yuri pweash sstop..mm"
"Shut up you slut" He hissed, slapping your cheeks and continue to grinding on your face. You were completely helpless under him, unable to resist and letting him to do whatever he wants on your body. Damn, it's turning him on so much, thinking about this with you underneath while he's looking at your innocent eyes... It's was your fault after all, because of you he's in a great mess like this, because of you he finds himself stroking his own dick almost every night and came into his hand, instead of inside your pussy.
"Hah..... Ah.." finally, he came. His grip on your hair is tighten and he stop moving, your face still pressed on his clothed dick with your mouth slightly open.
"Ah....mmmmm... I.. hope you're satisfied" You said in a low voice, almost crying and you didn't dare to make eye contact with him.
He looked at you, hands caressing your cheeks softly as he gave you a worried look.
"Am I being too harsh on you, sweetheart?"

┊┊┊✧ ⁺ ⁺╚══ Atsumu Version ╝
Premise: Atsumu had never been interested in others, to his family and the village he was a good for nothing, a heartless fox possessed by an evil spirit that feeds on his compassion. But to you, he was just like everybody else. Having someone to listen to you and be by your side sometimes can make a big difference in who you become and what you accomplish in life, and so it was for Miya Atsumu.
Word Count: 3065
Note: you can read the first chapter here 😊
Chapter 2: Attachment
The morning sun was still hidden from everyone, still sleeping like the rest of the villagers, yet Atsumu was climbing a tree in the darkness, ready to visit your quarters.
You weren’t expecting any visitors this early, in fact, you were still very much asleep hidden behind the protective net placed over your bed to defend you from little night crawlers.
Atsumu took a moment to admire your sleeping face before showing himself, your lips slightly parted, warm puffs of air leaving them every other minute; the raise and fall of your chest, the peaceful look on your face, defenseless, at his mercy.
But there were no ill intentions within this man, all he wanted was to love and protect you, to take you away from the ones trying to steal you away, to keep you safe for all eternity.
Of course, Atsumu being Atsumu forgot all about how sick you really were. Days were always so much fun with you around, it was difficult to think you were at all sick. But the consequences of his actions would be brought up until later.
“(Y/N) love, wake up.” whispering quietly by your ear, he patted your leg in hopes of getting you ready for departure in no time.
“Tsumu? Why are you here this early?” hearing your sleepy voice made his heart flip, you were just too cute for him to manage sometimes. In all truth, all he wanted was to lay by your side, let you sleep some more, maybe share a sleepy kiss or two, but there would be time for that later, he needed to get you out of there fast before anyone noticed his presence.
“We are running away. I need you to get ready, tell me what to pack I’ll help you with that.” you grabbed his wrist, pulling him back down with you before he could get up completely. “Why are we running away? Did something happen?” your worried expression made him think on his choice of words, there was still time, he could spare a few minutes to cuddle your worries away. Laying by your side, he pulled you to his chest, his lips pressed to your ear as he murmured his plan only for you to hear.
“I can’t live without you, (Y/N)…the villagers…they all want you to marry either the leader or my brother…I can’t let them take you away from me…”
“And running away is the only option? Does my opinion not matter to them?” the resolution in your voice to choose him over the others took him by surprise, yes, he wanted you to choose him, but always had his doubts about who really held your heart.
“They won’t care, all they want is for you to bring pups to the clans…”
“Can’t we…uhm…do that though?” the bright red flush adorning your adorable cheeks made him soft to his core, his lips not wasting any time by pressing soft tantalizing kisses along your jaw line. “Of course we can baby, and we will…but the elders won’t want me as the father…not many like me around here….”
Understanding the situation fully, you untangled yourself from the warmth of his embrace, getting up from bed, “Then what are we waiting for?” a wild grin appeared on Atsumu’s face, following you with his large bag ready to store your belongings with his own.
“But I don’t own any of this Tsumu, everything was given to me by either the leader or Rin…all I have is my old, ragged kimono, the one you guys found me wearing when I arrived…”
“Then get changed into it, we’ll come around. I might not be as rich as them, but I can certainly get something for you. Let’s go, we need to hurry.”
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Running through the forest while it was still dark proved to be an issue. To Atsumu it was easy, he had night vision after all, but you just couldn’t see a thing, constantly tripping over rocks.
“Come here, I’ll carry you.” he gathered you in his arms with ease and ran through the trees, past the waterfall that marked the beginning of the land owned by the foxes. Territory beyond that area was unknown to him, and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried.
There was a rather dry cave by the waterfall, very well hidden from prying eyes, only a few knew of its existence, so he decided to let you rest for a while once you reached it, maybe even spend the night there. Some commodities were hidden there by his younger self, blankets and such available for you to get comfortable and recover from the bumpy trip.
“Are we going to live here, Tsumu?” you were patting the space beside you signalizing for him to sit with you, yet he was still pretty paranoid, looking around and making sure nobody followed you there.
“We can’t this is still within our lands, we should probably go north, I’m not sure where the bakeneko clan gathers, but we could ask around until we find my friend Aran, he will know what to do.” since he didn’t follow your command, you got up from your resting spot, coming behind him to wrap your arms around his waist, breathing in his musky scent combined with the fresh air coming from the waterfall.
“Too bad, this place is nice.” this made Atsumu chuckle, relaxing just a bit and turning around in your embrace to face you.
“You would trade a fancy castle for a dark, cold and empty cave?”
“If the cave comes with you in it, then yes, without a doubt.” An inexplicable feeling rushed through Miya Atsumu at that moment. He wasn’t sure what it all meant but the urge to pounce on you couldn’t be diminished.
To his surprise you were very much willing to see where that would take you two, just as eager as he was to get to know him in a deeper level, to get to understand not just his heart or thoughts completely, but also his body, his deepest desires.
A cave wasn’t the best place for this, mind you.
Thankfully you at least had a blanket to lay on the ground and protect your bare back from the rocks, but being honest, it didn’t matter one bit.
Just having Atsumu taking care of your every need, swallowing your little gasps and cries of pain, turning them into cries of love, was more than one being could take all at once.
Not only your bodies became one that day, but your hearts did too. Understanding beyond comprehension one another.
Your sickly tired body grew stronger the more he stayed within you, the more you shared with the other, the more connected you were, this was not at all related to carnal pleasures, this whole ordeal connected your hearts, mushed them into one, not even words were needed between the two, only gasps and whimpers could be heard echoing in the depths of the cave, a warmth like no other could be felt emanating from your core and had nothing to do with Atsumu’s ministrations…
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Meanwhile, the rest of the boys were going crazy trying to find leads that could help them find you.
Osamu was beyond heartbroken, not being at all useful at the moment.
Rin had gathered all his employees and were searching for you in the forest, while Kita sent his guards to every border of the village to make sure you wouldn’t be able to leave before anyone else noticed. If you placed as much as one foot outside of the village, you would break the elder’s rules and would have to be killed, didn’t Atsumu know about this? He’s usually not thinking about, well, anything, besides himself, of course he didn’t this time around either.
“Was he not thinking of her illness? He’s so stupidly annoying why couldn’t he just play fair like we are all doing?” Suna was fuming at this point, he was certain he’d made a good impression on you, you definitely did on him, he still misses having you around the inn, just like his entire family do as well. They were really hoping you’d be joining their family soon, this was a deep blow for the brunet.
“There are no limits for Atsumu, you know that…” and he was right, whenever he truly wants something, nobody would be able to stop him.
This time though, he had three fierce foxes hunting his tracks, not wiling to sacrifice their future in the slightest.
One of the guards came back looking for his leader, a piece of cloth was found on a dirt path. His words alerted Osamu, who immediately was able to recognize said cloth. “That’s (Y/N)’s hair tie…where did you find this?” he was on the young guard within seconds, sniffing the silky piece of cloth, it reeked of his brother and a sudden surge of violence manifested itself right away. He would pay for this, you better not be hurt otherwise, he would end up being an only child.
“Sir, it was by the dirt path heading north, up the vines.”
“The waterfall…” without further discussions, the three of them made their way through the forest, a new destination set for the pack.
They were all familiar with this place, specially Samu as they used to play around the area a lot during summer months when younger, but he didn’t think his brother would be this stupid and take you to a known place to all his contenders.
Thankfully for them, he was.
Going up the mountain took them a couple of hours, it was in the middle of nowhere and getting lost wasn’t difficult, but Samu could smell you and you were close, his nose took them straight into the entrance of the cave following the delicious scent that he grew to love over time.
What they didn’t expect though was to see you barely covered, floating inside said cave, a shimmery gold glow embracing your exposed skin.
“Damn you Atsumu, what did you do to her?? How is she even floating???” Rin was agitated, pulling on the blanket covering your naked body as to try to get you back to ground level, your lack of clothing now being noticed by the rest.
“Oh no, what did you two do…”
“Ehm…what couples that love each other often do? You know the talk ma’ gave us when we were little…?”
“I know what you did dumbass, I’m asking why??? Why would you do that? She isn’t yours to take like that.” this was the last drop of patience inside of Atsumu, he was still very anxious, even if you clearly chose him, even if you loved him and wanted him just as much as he did. Having to deal with them while being so vulnerable wasn’t ideal.
“She’s not yours either, I didn’t force her to do anything she didn’t want to do herself!” both were now bumping onto each other in anger, steam coming out of both.
“Can you both shut up and help me getting her down??”
“Why is she floating to begin with?”
A valid question at last. “Without going into details…” Atsumu cleared his throat, “…once we were you know ‘done’, she said she was so happy that her chest hurt. At first, I thought she was just being cute as usual, but then she started glowing and seemed to be in some sort of pain, then you arrived…”
The disgusted face the three of them shared was almost comical, yet they were alerted by the dimming glow coming in from your direction, Atsumu receiving you in his arms gently as your body began its decent on its own. “Baby, are you ok? Does it still hurt?” to this you just gave him a tiny nod, resting your head on his shoulder, “I saw someone, a beautiful woman, she held my hand and welcomed me as her family, then she said everything would be ok now…”
“Inari….”
“What?”
“Time will come when the true heir of Inari is born to humans and will bring happiness and prosperity to the village in decline..
That’s the rest of the legend, she must be the one mentioned in it. The true heir.”
The shock was apparent to everyone, not only were you the most wonderful, the prettiest, the loveliest girl around, you were the savior they’ve been waiting for years to come. But not even after this revelation Atsumu could get his eyes away from you, clear confusion and awe painting his handsome face. “Baby, you’re a fox….”
“What do you mean a fox?” your shaky hand reached the top of your head, caressing one of your newly acquired fuzzy ears.
“The blessing? You got the blessing, babe!!!” he swirled you around, glee making him forget how naked he was and the show he was giving the others by dancing like a dork.
“Wait what? You mean true love? Atsumu is your true love? Why would that be a thing?” Suna didn’t know about your daily rendezvous, didn’t know about how happy he made you, how desperate you both were to be accepted and to be able to live together without being judged by others, without the need of being validated by the elders or your relationship being approved by others.
This is what true love meant, at least to you and Atsumu.
Sacrifices, desperation, attachment.
None of you were confident of being able to live without the other, anything would be better than being apart, anything would be easier, anything would be less painful. Even if that meant leaving family, friends and a home behind. It meant approaching uncertainty with a new extent, finding solutions together, overcoming challenges and even if that called for you to run away, if that would guarantee you’d be together, then so be it. Anything is better than not being able to see each other every day.
The desperation kept growing the more time you spent with the other, lately seeing each other every day wasn’t quite enough, it was almost painful. You wanted him to stay and share your bed at night, just as much as he craved waking up in your arms every morning, he dreamed of having your homecooked meals daily, you dreamed of having him always by your side, to be able to hear his voice at any time you wanted, to have his warmth wrapped around you whenever it was cold.
Attachment was real, and none of you feared it any longer.
Both knew what you wanted for the rest of your lives, and that was to be together.
What did it entitle receiving such a blessing though?
Were you in some sort of contract now? Were you required to meet certain expectations?
“So he won, huh?”
“This wasn’t a game, Suna….Inari, our patron, bestowed upon them the blessing, that means he was accepted as a suitable match for the heir. It is said that she would bring prosperity to our village, and that’s what we all need. In which way or form will that be, I do not know.”
“To me it sounds like we are going to have a big family! Maybe it’s already cooking inside, if you know what I mean~” his annoying smug grin made everyone want to punch him in the gut, yet the loving smile you shared with him left them all speechless. It appears that you were indeed in love with Atsumu, you did want to have his pups, to be his family, it wasn’t just in his head, though, having received such blessing, it should be pretty clear for everyone by now.
“But love, what are we going to do now? Are we going to get some sort of punishment?”
Kita took this as opportunity to jump in the conversation, “Not really, you didn’t leave the village, there’s no need to request a council meeting for this, we’ll just say you went on a picnic. As for Atsumu’s behavior, it was wrong, and he will be punished for attempting to kidnap the princess.”
“He didn’t kidnap me! I came with him willingly and will do it again if I have to!” your angry outburst made Atsumu sigh contently, he knew he’d chosen correctly, this was the woman he fell in love with, someone strong, smart, someone who doesn’t let others step on her, so sexy…
“Whatever you say, (Y/N) but he did get into the castle at dawn and tried to take you out of the village, that could have gotten you killed…”
“But it didn’t. Now, will you stop arguing like I was some sort of price? I made my mind already, and I won’t allow anybody but Miya Atsumu to court me any longer. Now if you excuse us, I need to get dressed…and so do you, my love.” the crazy fit of giggles leaving your lips made Atsumu realized he was butt naked and everyone had seen his manliness fully in display, a weirdly satisfying thought.
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
You still didn’t know what receiving the blessing really entitled.
You also didn’t know what being the heir of Inari even meant.
There were still many things that needed to be properly addressed and studied carefully.
But what you did know was that the future was bright and full of love, with your man by your side and a belly full of the seed of love, a brand new family had come to the fox village, one that would bring prosperity to the declining population, one that would change the rules for good, one that wasn’t expected at all, yet quickly gained at spot in everyone’s heart.
You were the best part of Atsumu, or that’s what the masses said. But to you, Atsumu was the best part of you.
It didn’t matter at all what others said, true love comes from where you least expect it, and this time it came in strong, to stay.

28 / 29 for the hugging prompts, perhaps a mix or just one of them with Terzo? Preferably Terzo being the argessive needy hugger:)
I hope you ask box is no longer lonely now
Okay, I hope this covers it. This man desperately needs adult supervision.
No smut this time, just fluff.
____________________________________________________________
Cirrus and Cumulus decided that four days was enough pouting and moping around for anyone so, on the morning of the fifth day, they stopped by your quarters to let you know that they’d decided on a pool day for you. It was blazing hot out and Terzo had been less successful at ducking out of his Ministry business trip early than he’d hoped. The last update you’d gotten, he’d tried to sound hopeful, but you could hear it in his voice that it wasn’t likely.
“You need to get out of the Abbey.” Cirrus huffed.
“Besides, if you send him some swimsuit pictures, he’ll probably be home before sundown.” Cumulus offered with a wink.
You didn’t have any decent arguments and, honestly, you probably did need to get out. Your quarters always felt empty when he was away and the Abbey just wasn’t the same. Plus, Cumulus was right. Getting ready gave you an excuse to take a few pictures of the options and send them to your much missed Papa.
You: The girls have decided that I need a pool day and I need a discerning eye to help me choose a swimsuit. Terzo: Oh, now this is a very serious matter, amore. I must see to be able to give a professional opinion. You will get nothing but my complete and full attention.
You chuckle, and shake your head. Satan help you both if he’s in the middle of a meeting, focusing on his phone instead. You wouldn’t put it past him to show off the pictures either to brag about his amore. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
But the offer’s been made. Dutifully you send him four options. The black backless halter. The two piece in his papal colours. The navy polka dot vintage he’d dubbed your pin-up suit. And, finally, the crimson cross straps. Each one showing Read immediately. Even if his response is a bit slow.
Terzo: I see now why you need someone to help you, bellissima. Such a difficult choice when you look so good in all four. Perhaps you send me one without any suit so I can compare?
You snort reading the message. As if he doesn’t have dozens of pictures on his phone “to compare”.
You: I can always ask your brothers if you need assistance choosing… Terzo: Amore! You wouldn’t! Non conoscerebbero la moda neanche se gli mordesse il culo! You: Oh, so you have a favourite then?
Giggling to yourself, you swear you can hear his pouty huff from halfway across the country. But, Hellfire, it’s just too easy to get him wound up sometimes.
Terzo: The fourth one. Without question. You look like a gift wrapped up in beautiful ribbon. And when I get home, I untie it and enjoy everything inside the wrapping.
You: … any idea when that might be?
The wait for his response is too long to get your hopes up. If it were good news, he’d have already said.
Terzo: Soon, mio cuore. I swear to you. Soon.
Ah yes, there it is. Another few days, at least. Just reading the words, you can hear the disappointment in his voice. But the last thing you want to do is to contribute to his misery. It’s bad enough to be stuck in boring meetings all day.
You: Duties come first. I know that and I understand. I will just be that much more eager to see you when you do get home. And I promise, you can unwrap your gift then. Do you want me to send you pictures from the pool or will that only be a tease? Terzo: You are always so good to me, tesoro. I hate to disappoint you. But I am glad the girls are making sure you are occupied. Please, send me pictures. I want to see your beautiful face in the sunshine. You: I promise I will. Terzo: Ti amo tanto. Il mio cuore soffre per essere lontano. You: I love you, too. When you get back, we will have a full day together, just you and me. Doing whatever you like.
It’s a dangerous offer, but no reward worth having ever came without a bit of risk.
In the time it takes for Cirrus and Cumulus to get you from the Abbey to the pool, there are a handful more messages back and forth and then a further twenty from Terzo apologising profusely for having to turn off his phone for another meeting. A meeting he told you was supposed to start at 2pm. Checking your clock, you can’t help but notice he’s already thirty minutes late.
Eventually the texts stop and you tuck your phone away. He’ll be busy all afternoon, based on how things have gone so far. The pool, despite the heat, is blessedly quiet. You spread your towel out on one of the loungers and stretch out to relax a bit. The girls were right, you desperately needed to get out for a bit, get some fresh air and some sun. It’s still not the same without him, but it beats moping and pouting around the Abbey. And your lovely ghoulfriends are nice enough not to say we told you so. At least not out loud.
After half dozing for a bit, and turning over to get a bit of colour on your back as well, you finally drag yourself off the lounger and stretch. Might as well swim a bit, the water does look lovely and cool. One quick peek at your phone and no new messages gets a hint of a frown. The meeting must be running late. Terzo will be in a mood when they finally release him and you make a mental note for the video call that’s bound to follow.
“Hey!” Calls Cirrus from the edge of the pool. “You’re supposed to be relaxing and enjoying yourself, remember?”
“I know! I know! I am! Look at me! Look how relaxed I am!” You call back, tucking your phone away again and smiling. “I was just checking the time and then coming for a swim!”
“Uh huh.” She looks at you doubtfully. “And you’re so bad at telling time that you need to stare at your phone, pouting?”
“I wasn’t pouting!” You laugh, stick your toes in the water and splash her.
Whatever her reply is, you don’t really hear it. Something else caught your attention first. Some kind of commotion in the parking lot as you squint into the sun, holding up a hand to shade your eyes and see what’s going on. Whatever it is, it seems to be moving toward the pool at an alarming rate.
And then you hear it.
“Amoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” Getting louder as the cause of the commotion gets closer.
Terzo, still in his paints and his formal suit vaults over the row of hedges between the entrance to the pool area and the deck. For a man who trips over his own feet frequently, he sticks the landing with a grace and elegance that would put any ballerina to shame.
“Terzo????” You yelp. There are MANY more unanswered questions, but none of them are short enough to ask as he doesn’t stop moving after clearing the shrubbery. Running at you with a determination you’ve rarely seen before. “Terzo, no! Nonononononono….”
But it’s too late. He grabs you around the waist, pulling you up against him, claiming your mouth fiercely as momentum carries you both flying into the pool. Whatever chaos the resulting splash causes is lost to you in the muffled quiet of the water, Terzo’s desperate hold on you, and the taste of his mouth mingling with the chlorine taste of the pool. What other choice is there than to wrap your arms around the most ridiculous, perfect man in the world and lose yourself in his love?
When you open your eyes, his make-up is a disaster and his hair floats around his head making him look even more like a madman. His good suit is most certainly ruined as well. And still, all you can do is beam at him, pulling him in for another kiss. He holds you a little tighter, getting his feet under him to push you both back to the surface. There are a few people glaring at you both, wringing out soaked towels and one woman loudly complaining while she shakes out her waterlogged book, though Terzo certainly doesn’t seem to care. Too busy staring at you, grinning so hard you have to laugh.
“What, in Satan’s name, are you doing here???”
“Doing?” He looks confused by the question. “I tell you I will be home soon, amore! You think Papa would lie to you?”
You roll your eyes. “You told me you had a meeting at two o’clock and that it would be a few days!”
He waves the facts away with a soaking wet gloved hand. “That’s not a lie. That is… eh… a little bullshit so you don’t guess my surprise.”
“You are ridiculous.” And he is. Completely. Utterly. Ridiculous.
“And you love it.” He grins smugly.
“More than anything.”
His hair is plastered to his face, his make-up and suit are ruined, and he still looks like the happiest man you’ve ever seen.
“Babe? Just one question… is your phone still in your pocket?”
Terzo freezes, blinking at you for a long moment. “………………………… Shit.”
“Yeah, I had a feeling.”
His smile lights up again, pulling you into another kiss just as you spot security walking toward the pool. As if something as foolish as a phone could dampen his mood.
“I can get a new phone. I only have one amore.”

I don't like pure evil Gasters
I don’t like pure evil Gasters.
Or rather, I don’t like Gasters who get treated like they’re (pure) evil.
If Gaster is anything like any other character in both Undertale and Deltarune, he won’t be pure evil. His ‘evil’ will most likely come from pain, if all the pain mentions have anything to say about it.
Basically, If Spamton and Jevil can be forgiven (and become fan favorites) because their evil was from a source of pain…
Then why would Gaster be any different.
Why should we assume and treat Gaster like he’s pure evil, and thus, claim he deserves the pain…
When we treat nobody else like that.
Sure, there is the spade king, but the worst thing that happened to him was that he was thrown in a cell.
A far cry from being thrown into (metaphorical) hell, as so many people headcanon happened to Gaster.
Nobody in Undertale or Deltarune deserves their pain, it’s one of the core traits of these games. So why should Gaster be the sole exception.
If the vilification of Chara can result in an entire defence squad protesting, then why does nobody care that Gaster gets treated like a scapegoat as well?
I think it’s because we see so little of Gaster, plus his portrayal as devilish and creepy, makes people just. Not sympathise with him.
And I find that so unrelatable, as someone who felt really bad for Gaster ever since I discovered Goner Kid.
Which heightened the more fanfiction I read.
Other people hate Gaster because of their personal headcanons, which would be fine, except for the fact that AUs like Handplates and Underverse became so popular, that Hateable Gasters became so common, that it’s both very difficult to avoid…
And that there’s barely any variation.
The only Gaster headcanons that are popular are Dadster, which is usually good, sometimes neutral, rarely evil, and Badster, which always gets treated like evil no matter how nuanced he gets made (and people think the only way he can redeem himself is to be a dadster)...
And ships, more specifically Grillster (which is pure fanon), Kingdings (which makes more sense than Grillster at least) and Sanster, which gets called incest by dadster fans who can’t stand people have different headcanons than themselves.
And guess what? That's not much. If you just so happen to have completely different Gaster headcanons than any of these, including ones that are actually based on canon rather than preference…
Well, then you’re screwed in the content department, so that your only option is to look for niche content, blocking an endless stream of popular content just to get to it…
Or to write your own stories (assuming you can).
Now, I clearly don’t speak for most people here. In fact, I'm speaking about my own experiences here.
Remember the theory that Sans and Papyrus are pieces of Gaster? Or the theory that Papyrus is Gaster? Or even that Sans is Gaster?
Those theories never got popular.
People say it's because they think it's unlikely, but i suspect it's really because not many people just. Liked the idea that Sans and Papyrus could be one person we know nothing about that might be potentially evil.
In a similar fashion, I don’t think dadster and badster got popular because they are ‘likely to be true’ (which I heavily disagree with), but because most fans prefer some mundane dad whose entire character is determined with how he treats Sans, and to a lesser extend, Papyrus, over the Yume Nikki inspired eldritch man that Gaster most likely is in canon.
Which I personally think is really boring!
And if canon has anything to say about it, if Gaster turns out to be the father, he will be anything but mundane and he’ll actually have a characterization that isn’t centered around the fan favourite.

New Year's Ask Game for Fic Writers
To close out 2023…
1) What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?
It was a lot of fun writing the Masquerade story, because there was a lot to consider. Should I use my own voice or try to mimic someone else's? Should I write a story that I normally wouldn't take a chance on? Game-ifying fic writing makes it really exciting. And now it's fun to guess on everyone else's stories!
2) What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?
Chapter 13 of Out of Nowhere. I knew from the beginning that I'd have to write that angsty sex scene, and I felt like I was training for a marathon leading up to it. It had to balance anger and love, had to involve force but not be rapey. There were so many complex and competing forces in the scene, and I wasn't sure I could pull it off.
3) What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.
Songs! Always songs. Murder ballads. Heavy metal opuses. Raw 2000s emo. Give me all of it.
4) What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?
I tried to write novels back between 2012-2018. I wrote 2 YA fantasy novels and pieces of four others. But none of them ever felt complete. None of them gelled in my mind. I don't know why. I shelved them all. Then, I discovered the Gallavich fandom. I read the fics and a fire got lit inside me. And now I've written five novel-length stories. FIVE. And they all feel right! I can't thank this fandom enough for being supportive, inspiring, and transformative. I may not have a ton of fics, but completing a fifth multi-chap makes me feel like a superhero.
And to start off 2024…
1) Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?
Finish Out of Nowhere, which will happen ... any day now!
2) Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)
I am exited to continue the @galladrabbles series No Sleep 'Til Nashville. It makes me giggle to put all the fandom tropes in there. It might go on for the entire year, who knows? There's a lot of story left to tell, and I have a lot of shenanigans planned.
3) What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?
I might write more short stories this year. I might write a non-Gallavich original novel (if the idea strikes). All I know is that I'll always be writing something.
4) What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?
I love creating suspense — in a scene, in a chapter, in an entire fic. I enjoy the challenge of making every scene sing, or at least having narrative tension. I don't see that going away. Here's hoping I can succeed!
Tagging, if you'd like to participate: @sweetperversiongirl @sweetbee78 @depressedstressedlemonzest @juliakayyy @notherenewjersey @metalheadmickey @creepkinginc @whatthebodygraspsnot @arrowflier @crossmydna

please do share your thoughts on small talk 👀
I just feel like people get weirdly smug about "not doing small talk" Yes, there are wild differences between cultures about where and when small talk is expected. I hated the "how are yous" from cashiers of uk and usa, because they are not expected in my culture. But if I want to get to know a new person, or navigate unexpected social situations, now matter where I am, it just has to be done through small talk. It's just a necessary component of how human interaction works.
And yes, many people are bad at this. Being bad at small talk is fine, but trying to jump over it straight to the "good parts" usually always makes things worse. Small talk very much has a purpose, and its social calibration to scope out the feel of the person. What kind mood are they in? What kind of energy levels they are at? Where the conversation veers from there depends a lot from what you suss out during the lighter small talk topics. If someone is already tired or sad or melancholy, I would not want to bring up depressing existential topics, while a more energetic and positive tone gives me a green light to veer the conversation to more silly topics. A little bit of small talk when you approach a new peron you don't know that well can save you from very unplasant moments of saying something completely tone deaf and embarassing. It's also that if you approach a new person with a really heavy conversational topic already locked and loaded, they might feel trapped by it. It's easy to just casually slide out of small talk, if you don't want to talk to someone, but if that someone has started the conversation with "do you believe in free will" or "let me tell you about the life-cycle of the hummingbird" it is difficult to just leave without looking like a dick. That's why I would never be brave enough to jump over small talk when starting a conversation, because I'm terrified that I've locked someone into listenign to my infodumb against their will. I feel much more comfrotable sequieing from meanigless chatter about the weather into more spesific topics after I've gotten a bit of read on how the other person is responding to me.
Also, and this is just my own experience speaking, but I do feel like people who are loudly proud about being above small talk have the tendency to think that everything they say is deep and meaningful and everythign you say is shallow and meaningless. I think most people who have attended house parties have at some point met this person. The one who loudly proclaims that the world would be a better place if we all just discussed philosophy more, and then goes on a two hour monologue about their last breakup with full confidence that this is a philosophical discussion instead of a onesided ramble. And don't even get me started on all the tinder profiles with no other text expect "don't approach me with a hello, say something interesting or gtfo" Like, call me a boring normie, but I don't want to start every interaction with coming up with a new and clever quip that's measured as the only indicator on whether any conversation should be even started.
And if you are locked in a situationship with total strangers, I don't want to hear about their hobbies or philosophies. I want to hear friendly noises, that assure me that we all feel friendly towards each other, despite being stuck in an elevator. Just meaningless chatter that tells me that no one here is about to throw a random temper tantrum, while we wait to be let out.
And sometimes I just want to lightly chatter with my loved ones, even if we have nothign of really importance to say, to just exchange some idle gossip or telling about mundane things that have happened, just for the pleasure of getting to hear the voice.
I used to be firmly in the camp "I hate small talk, it's dumb" untill I met too many obnoxious people who have made it a weird point of pride to be condescending towards other people who are just trying to navigate social interactions in a completely logical way. Nobody needs to be good at small talk, or even enjoy it, but in my opinion overenthusiastic small talkers are much more preferable to the cynic who doesn't waste time with small talk.
