Seeking ARC Reviewers!
Tumblr media
If you're familiar with the process, and want to read an early copy of Changeling then you can head on over to my googleform and sign up... GOOGLEFORM LINK
"But wait, Ari! I don't know what an ARC Reader is, or what they do!"
No problem! Let me explain...
Short Answer: ARC stands for 'Advanced Reader Copy' or 'Advanced Review Copy'. An ARC Reviewer offers to read a copy of the book before release, and write an honest review.
As for the long answer, the process to become an ARC Reviewer is fairly simple...
If you sign up to be an ARC reviewer (by completing the google form linked) I will send out a PDF or Epub copy of Changeling in the 3rd week of February. I'll also email out what's called a "Press Pack" which will include all the information about the book, the author (me!), and include some pre-made promotional images so you don't have to go hunting the information down should you choose to leave a review.
As an ARC reviewer, you have the opportunity to read the book before it's released to the public and offer your feedback, insight, and honest opinions of the book across platforms.
If you notice anything wrong with the book such as typos that slipped past me and my editor, or formatting errors, I'd appreciate an email about such things so I can fix them before the book goes live, but it's not required.
Also, as per Amazon's policies, I cannot require you to leave a review. This is NOT a free book in exchange for a review. That's not how it works.
I'm giving you my book for free and asking, if you are so inclined, that you share your experience with others. The good, the bad, and everything in between.
I will be sending out periodic email reminders to all accepted ARC readers about leaving a review however, just in case it slips your mind;
A week before release
The day before release
Release day - once the book is live on Amazon
The day after release
A final reminder one week after release.
If this interests you, head on over to the googleform to sign up!

Goddess of the River
by Vaishnavi Patel / 4 stars
If there's one thing fantasy books have taught me, it's that when a god comes down to the earth, they normally change it dramatically. That's what I expected of Ganga, though her being trapped by Shiva was unexpected. Even more unexpected was the fact that a mortal managed to curse her, and trap her once again in human form.
One of those books that I had on my TBR list, and then when I got to it, it was a clean slate, where I had no idea what I was reading, only that I knew past me had wanted to read it. So I was expecting more fantasy, more whimsy, instead of a retake on the classic Mahabharata epic (which is now also on my TBR list) with some creative license.
Knowing nothing about the original text, I was left curious to know more. Also, this is one of those books that asks questions of humanity, that linger with you long after the final page. What is more important, to stand by your vows and your duty, or to try to do the right thing in every situation? Can there be honor in that, if you don't have a firm code you live by? What does true justice look like?
A provocative, thought stirring story, this is something I would love to see in more high schools, or read in settings that can easily lead to discussion. Because I have so much I want to talk about after reading this book!

Nov 2023: My Upcoming ARCs
Hello, book nerds! I have five ARCs in my Netgalley queue currently and my goal is to complete at least one this month. Here’s what I have to choose from: Immortal Pleasures by V. Castro Pub: April 16, 2024 Synopsis: “An ancient Aztec vampire roams the modern world in search of vengeance and love in this seductive dark fantasy from the author of The Haunting of Alejandra.” Thoughts: I think…

Thank you so much, Celadon, for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: ♾️ Stars
Mercury is like a warm hug that you do not know you need. It leaves you feel super connected to these characters to the point that you feel like you are a part of their family.
Tumblr media
I could not get enough of Mercury since I needed to know everything about these cbaracters and their lives. Even when I was not reading it, I would constantly think of the characters, and at one point, I dreamed of the town and the characters. I have not had that experience in a while where I need to devour a book and then later find myself dreaming of the book.
Tumblr media
All the characters are flawed in one way or another to the point they feel extremely real. Some of the characters focus on these flaws of the other characters to the point that it causes resentment or indifference to one another. But each character has these amazing attributes that they bring to the table that allows each other to lean on one another even when the family feels divided. When hardships and grief strike this family, they all find themselves looking at their life in a different way, which ultimately makes these characters grow in so many way. Honestly, from beginning to end, the character growth is immensely seen and very satisfying.
Tumblr media
Mercury is beautifully written to where I was rooting for each other characters. I felt joy in the accomplishments, heartbreak for the hardships and the grief the family goes through, and great love for each of the characters. Then, I found a lot of heartwarming moments in this book and especially in the last few pages.
Tumblr media
Once January 2024 rolls around, you all need to run out and grab this amazing book. I feel like I did not put my thoughts into the most coherent way and could not say all the ways I loved this book because for me sometimes I struggle with finding the right words to express how much I love something.
Tumblr media
But, I can truly say that I didn't know how much I needed this book in my life. I am so beyond thankful that Celadon surprised me with this book to review. I can say with certainity that this book is one of my top 5 favorite books of 2023. Without a doubt in my mind, I just know this will become a favorite of many in 2024, so like I said go get this book because you will fall in love with the writing and the characters.

Scalechaser
by A. R. Stonecypher / 4 stars
Those who have a wish must make a journey to Solenvale, to meet Jacovan's Heirs. If one chooses to grant their wish, the two will be bonded. A bond is the only way for one of Jacovan's Heirs to leave their home - though their curse, if left unchecked, will turn them into a raging beast. It is only their bondmates, the Wish Wielders, that can call them back from this state.
Whitetail, an Heir, lives with a crew of beast hunters. Untrusted by some on their crew, nevertheless she helps them hunt Jacovan beasts who have become uncontrollable. Even when one of them is her own sister.
Gage, a wish wielder who takes his bond seriously, is part of an enforcement group who hunt down strays - wish wielders who have forsaken their bond, abandoning their duty. Until his bondmate calls on him to leave his post, become a stray himself, and travel to Dasia Bay to help their brother.
While at first I was reading the book in bits and pieces, I had a little trouble keeping track of where everyone was from. I should have consulted the map a little more too.
With good world building, and an interesting magic system, this was an enjoyable read once I got into it. I should have guessed one of the twists, but I let myself be frustrated right along with the characters until learning the truth.
A great read from an independent publisher, and just the start of what this magical world has to offer!

well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!
also this is all a flashback for the purpose of explaining to our group what the heck is going on (whether or not any of it is getting through is another matter)

Thank you, Entangled/Red Tower Books, for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
CAWPILE Rating:
Characters-8.5/10 Atmosphere-9.5/10 Writing-8/10 Plot-10/10 Intrigue-9.5/10 Logic/Structure-8.5/10 Engagement-9.5/10
Final Rating: 5/5 Stars
This was the worst day ever for Evie! She was now out of a job and needs to provide for her sick father and her younger sister. While walking home through the forest, Evie stumbles upon The Villain and he offers her a job of being his assistant. But little does Evie and The Villain know that someone wants The Villain and will do any harm to get to him.
Characters
My first few thoughts while reading The Assistant to the Villain was that I bet The Villain was a morally gray cinnamon roll since he emanates the trope of: I hate everyone but her. My favorite scenes of The Villain were: there being wanted flyers going around with an inaccurate sketch of what he looks like which just gives me Flynn Ryder vibes. Then my other favorite scene was him admitting to himself about his feelings for Evie which just leaves you swooning.
Now for Evie. For the most part I really enjoyed her. I love that she looks for the positive/goodness in everything especially when things start to go sour. She is kind and considerate as well. But there were times where she irritated me with being naive and I was not a fan that sometimes she was written as ditzy and a klutz. Overall, with those things it did not pull me out of the story, and I still highly enjoyed it.
Hannah does a great job of writing the distinction of The Villain and Evie as a grumpy x sunshine trope. You can really tell the stark difference in their thought process and their outlook on life.
Atmosphere:
The Assistant to the Villain takes place in a kingdom, a village, a manor, and a forest. It is basically how a lot of fantasy settings are, but this setting just felt super cozy.
Tumblr media
Writing Style:
This is a fast paced read that will leave you laughing out loud. I am in my annotating/tabbing era, and I went through so many tabs to mark lol/happy moments.
Tumblr media
Plot:
When it comes to The Assistant to the Villain, we see The Villain give Evie a job and as she takes the job, she finds herself not grossed out and totally okay with the gruesome things The Villain does. The one thing she hates though is stepping on eyeballs. As time goes on Evie and The Villain discover that someone is after him and on top of that they are trying to deny their feelings for one another.
Tumblr media
Intrigue:
Hannah does such an amazing job pulling you into this book because it’s just so damn funny. A lot of these chapters ended in cliffhangers and that made me need to read on and on. It caused a lot of sleep deprivation but it’s fine, it’s all fine.
Logic/Structure:
For the most part I found Evie and The Villain to have great ways when it came to investigating the mystery. But there was sometimes Evie was just plain annoying when it came to how she thought about things such as her not believing that The Villain had a true real name that was not The Villain. There are a few other instances, but it was not that many instances. The plot twist towards the end was not shocking to me and I was able to guess most of it right off the back, but I did not guess all of it. It was still enjoyable, and Hannah did a great job structuring the plot, mystery, character development (especially The Villain’s!), and the relationships.
Tumblr media
Enjoyment:
I highly, highly enjoyed this book so much. I would look forward to picking up the book each night and reading it because I could not get enough of this book, and I found it so much fun. I laughed a lot and swooned at times. It was just majorly fun.
Final Thoughts:
Red Tower Books is putting out so many amazing books so far this year. They are highly addicting and just plain fun, and they all totally live up to their hype. This one is going to become very popular when it releases on August 29th. Also, to note that this book is not spicy and just the buildup to the relationship and has all the angst. I totally recommend this one to everyone.
