for this one, my mind jumped first to Eddie as Buck's bodyguard, situation unspecified, but then I decided that was too,,, done, and i wanted something different.

Christopher and Buck are my two top favorite people though, so I'm thinking.... Eddie as a famous person, with Buck as Christopher's bodyguard.

Eddie is a famous athlete, I'm thinking rugby, and he barely has time to spend with Christopher between intense training sessions, games, and press training. Buck is hired by Hen, who is Eddie's manager, to be a bodyguard for Christopher, who got overwhelmed by an overenthusiastic fan at a park one day. Christopher takes a while to warm up to Buck, not wanting to accept Buck's time in place of Eddie's, but after Buck introduces him to the wide world of Legends of Cryptids, Buck and Christopher are like two peas in a pod. Buck turns into more of a babysitter than bodyguard, and Eddie starts wondering if he should know more about that guy that becomes the only topic of dinner conversation with Christopher. When one day Christopher is attacked at the park by angry fans, Buck intervenes to get Chris to safety, getting his leg broken in the process. Eddie, who had rushed to the hospital in a panic after only hearing the words "attack" "Christopher" and "broken leg" finally gets to meet the man that his son has clearly got wrapped around his finger. Buck apologizes for not intercepting the attacker earlier, but Eddie waves him off. Christopher demands that Buck recuperate at their house, so Christopher (and Eddie) can take care of him in return for saving him, and Buck is helpless to say no.

Against his better judgement, Eddie Diaz agrees to be the bodyguard for actress Ana Flores during a European press tour to promote her new movie. Eddie is all business, but it doesn’t take long before he’s absorbed into the inner circles of celebrities and their bodyguards. Maybe one bodyguard in particular – Evan “Buck” Buckley. Buck is still reeling from a scandal he was involved in that caused a significant hardship to his employer, the 118 Protection Agency. Fresh out from under that dark cloud, Buck is dead set on being a model bodyguard to Taylor Kelly during the upcoming promotional tour. He can’t afford to risk forming any new attachments. Except, well, there’s this new guy Eddie Diaz, and Buck can’t seem to take his eyes off him. But as rumours start flying and suspicious activity begins to put everyone on edge, the bodyguards must join forces to try to stop an attack before someone gets hurt.

ok stay with me here but: (loose) anastasia (1997) au

evan buckley: the missing, presumed dead, youngest child of the beloved/beloathed buckley family, all of whom were murdered when he was a kid—all except his older sister. except he’s alive, with the unfortunate downside of total amnesia, and nothing to tie him to anyone except a broken something that just reads: buck. so buck grows up alone, and it sucks, especially because it’s not all he’s ever known. he might not have his memories but he knows he's known what love is. home, love, family. there was once a time i must’ve had them too. home, love, family. i will never be complete until i find you.

maddie buckley: only daughter of the buckley family, fell in love with a bad man who tried to kill her whole family to get to her. got away and got safe. doesn’t know if doug’s alive. her brother’s probably dead. surviving’s not the same as living, and she’s been doing it for so long. but… have you heard… there’s a rumour in los angeles. she’s got the best and the brightest protecting her, and all that buckley family money. spreading them both thin could mean doug worming his way out of the woodwork but if there’s even a chance evan’s really out there? she’s already decided.

eddie diaz: conman, but more importantly, dad. there was a war, and then another one, and his wife left, and somewhere in there his parents took his kid from him. he does not have the money to fight them with lawyers, but he’s stubborn and not particularly respectful of the law and he’s heard that maddie buckley’s protective service team has means and money that allow for a) duking it out in court with his parents or b) getting his kid back in ways that are more uh legally grey. and it just so happens the rumours are that maddie buckley will do just about anything and pay just about any sum to find her long-lost brother. blond-haired, blue-eyed, missing at age 10—nearly two decades ago. he could look like anyone, now. sure, there’s the distinctive red birthmark over his eyebrow, but makeup and tattooing go a long way these days. oh, and conveniently, his partner in literal crime, however mild, has an old inside link with someone on maddie buckley’s bodyguard team. chim never shuts up about henrietta wilson—hen, he calls her—particularly when eddie’s fumbling a job and having to improvise and he feels the need to point out just how competent his previous partner steadfastly was.

if eddie and chim are holding illicit auditions for evan buckley lookalikes, and this massive beautiful man stumbles in apparently already having gone to the trouble of dressing for the part? who is eddie to look that gift horse in the mouth? the quicker they see this con through, the quicker he’s together with chris again.

except buck thinks eddie really believes he’s maddie buckley’s missing brother, and buck is warm and ridiculous and so genuinely curious about eddie’s own family, on this journey to find his own, and eddie can’t help but share christopher, and buck listens with bright eyes and holds the photographs so carefully in his big hands.

cons are never victimless, and eddie knows getting chris back takes priority over any moral quandary of identity theft here.

but buck asks about chris’s favourite things and stays up late on their crosscountry train to come up with plans for an accessible skateboard for a kid he’s never met. buck tells eddie he wonders if maddie’ll recognise him, and he hopes she does, because he’s never had anyone see him and know him before. buck asks eddie if he thinks they’ll stay friends, once they’re both reunited with their families. it’ll be nice not to have to miss anyone again, he tells eddie one night, quiet. missing who you don’t remember is one thing. missing who you know?

he trails off and falls asleep not long after, but eddie lies awake in the bunk below him for hours. his moral compass has always swung with whatever cognitive dissonance necessary to justify his actions because the final truth is: heart over mind. and chris has always been his whole heart. so falling in love with your mark has got to be the stupidest, most dangerous thing you can do.

even this is okay; he can handle breaking part of his own heart. but he didn’t realise he was holding so much of buck’s too, and now? he doesn’t know that he can survive breaking any of that.

SAUR good and sweet

maybe we'll make something by @buckactuallys - buckley-diaz family roadtrip fic ! ugh this one was SO sweet, i read it all in one sitting and just smiled the whole way through. so tender and soft and the pining is off the CHARTS. so so good.

Buck and Eddie get trapped in an elevator, which would be fine except Buck’s skipped a few meals recently and he’s a little hungry. He’s also not exactly told his best friend everything about himself so the secret he’s been keeping is about to be revealed at the worst possible time in the worst possible way. Buck can handle it though and if it comes to it he knows what he has to do to keep Eddie safe. Eddie however has his own thoughts on the subject and sometimes secrets aren’t as secret as you think. A soft concerned voice and a hand on his arm jerks him back to here and now, “Hey you ok? You’re breathing funny.” It’s the touch that does it, it’s both too much and nowhere near enough. Eddie looking at him like that, touching him gently, it’s too close to what he wants, and he wants a lot. He wants far too much from this man and he can’t have any of it. Unable to stop himself Buck jerks away, the movement far too fast and abrupt not to cause more concern in his friend. “Buck” Eddie’s hands are held up in a gesture designed to soothe and comfort, all it does is show Buck his pulse point.

Eddie smiles, shy and charming. "I've read the series like, a thousand times." "Really? Huh?" Buck feels his heart thump erratically inside of him. Holy shit, holy shit. Eddie Diaz read his books. Honestly, how is Buck supposed to act normal after such revelation? "I'm actually flying to an audition right now. Hopefully to be part of the movie for the book." Eddie says and then frowns. "Oh shit, I don't know if I should've told you that." "It's okay." He leans forward and grins, squinting one of his eyes and shrugging. "Your secret's safe with me.' or; Buck's a best seller author under a pen name, Eddie is an actor auditioning for the movie adaptation of his books, and somewhere along the way, they fall in love.

Buck was the most forgiving person Eddie knew. In fact, Eddie was pretty sure that Buck was the most forgiving person that anyone knew. He had forgiven Maddie for leaving him when he needed her the most. He had forgiven his parents for their years and years of emotional neglect (amongst other things.) Hell, he had even forgiven that psychopath that blew up the fire truck that almost cost him his career and his life. Which is why Eddie was beside himself that he was going on hour twelve of the cold shoulder from his best friend.

WIP Wednesday!

Finally got back to writing, working on the Love Island!Buck/Bodyguard Eddie fic, goodbye writer's block!

There’s a knock on his door, and Buck opens it up to find a man standing there, wearing a smile that’s almost unsure of itself. It’s replaced quickly with a professional nod and an introduction, and Buck is compelled to invite him in after seeing his identification.

The man is… not what Buck expected to see. Buck's pleased to find he's got the height advantage, but it's clear that while his own build had gained him plenty of votes swanning around in swimwear, Eddie Diaz is no less impressive.

He's hot, but Buck refuses to acknowledge that. Maybe before the show, maybe if they'd met in another way he might switch from posturing to flirting, but now he just stands to his fullest height, crosses his arms, and waits.

“So, Evan—”

“Please, call me Buck,” Buck corrects him, with the blinding smile which he’d worn the whole time he was on the show.

Diaz makes a face, like he’s filing that information away. “Got it. I’ve gotten the briefing on your situation—sorry to say I haven’t actually seen much of your show, but my tía—”

“We don’t need to do the whole small-talk thing, Diaz” Buck assures him, jumping in to cut him off. If he hears one more person tell him how hot their aunt or their sister or their mom thinks he is, he’s going to start throwing things. The mask slips in his irritation. “You’re here because someone I respect wouldn’t take no for an answer, but I don’t actually need a bodyguard. So I’ll tolerate you being here when I have to go out or whatever, but let’s not pretend this is anything other than what it is for you—a job.”

Buck doesn’t look at Diaz the entire way through his speech, which had been playing on his mind all morning but he hadn’t actually intended on saying aloud—not so soon, at least. When he looks up, Diaz is looking at him with one eyebrow raised.

“...right. Okay, then. If I’m gonna call you Buck, though, you have to at least call me Eddie. Deal?”

Buck rolls his eyes, aiming for noncommittal and unconcerned despite his outburst. “Whatever.”
