The thing about boyfriends is that Buck never had one. He has been one to others but never got his own, and now Tommy and he are around 15 dates. They’ve met each other’s friends and colleagues.
Buck met Tommy’s brother because the man crashed one of their date at Tommy’s place without knowing. Tommy met Maddie and only saw his parents from afar at the wedding, which Buck was immensely happy about.
They’re dating and it’s good, so good actually.
He thinks if he was dating a girl he’d be her boyfriend now, but is Tommy his? Is it the same for queer relationships?
Buck is just getting into his own head. He knows what he wants to call Tommy, but can he? Should he talk about it?
He never really had that kind of talk. He always became the boyfriend after the 2/3 months period, often the “I’m not seeing anyone other than you” talk would mean that by itself.
And they had that talk with Tommy, they actually had that talk two weeks in, but they still haven’t had the talk or met anybody where one of them called the other their boyfriends.
But now, they just came across Taylor while walking around and she’s talking, asking questions about his life and how he is and Tommy is awkwardly standing by.
“Oh, it’s been good, uh, you know life,” stutters Buck, “hum, just… that’s Tommy by the way, uh, my …friend.”
And Tommy is just raising an eyebrow, not saying anything.
Taylor quickly moves on and leave them alone and Buck doesn’t dare look at Tommy for fear of what he’ll see here.
He knows now, he saw the reaction “friend” caused. He has a boyfriend, and he wants to run back to Taylor and tell her and fix it and …
“So…” says Tommy, “friends, uh?”
Buck winces and finally looks at Tommy, who just looks back at him, lips a little pursed, but his eyes don’t look like he’s angry.
“Didn’t know you let ‘friends’ do what I did to you yesterday. Should I have a talk with Chimney and Eddie?”
Buck feels his face heat, thinking about how Tommy took him apart with his tongue for almost a full hour yesterday and actually making him beg.
He can’t even answer to that.
“Also, do friends have to have a drawer in each other places? Because I think I should reclaim the space that you stole from me, ‘friend’ ' “ he says with a smile, and Buck finally realizes it is just teasing.
Tommy’s eyes have that little shine they get when he just jokes around, his eyes squinting a little and his lips quirking.
“Ugh, you’re such an ass. I don’t know why I like you.”
“Careful, that’s not a way to speak to your friends.“
And Buck just, he just can’t with that man and pulls him in for a kiss. It’s not the first time they kiss outside, where people can see, but it’s still as exhilarating as the first.
“I told you,” Tommy says after the kiss, soft smile on, “we’re going at your pace. If you want me to just be your friends to random people in the street, it’s ok.”
“What if I don’t want it? Maybe…” he stops and swallows, “maybe I want to call you my boyfriend.”
Tommy’s smile is blinding before he bends a little to kiss him, fingers under his chin like he does so often, reminding them both of their first kiss.
“I’d be honored to be your boyfriend Evan.”

i feel like people are way too hyperfocused on buddie and buddie alone when abc making buck bi at all is already such a win. i’ve seen a frankly alarming amount of social media comments acting as if abc has committed some horrible treason by not canonizing buddie as soon as possible. no matter how you think endgame is going to go, i think we can agree that tommy’s been a good influence on buck in this time of vulnerability. it’s only been two episodes and he’s already shaping up to be THE best love interest buck has ever had— maybe even the best one on the entire show that wasn’t already a fully fleshed character/part of an established relationship. ali, taylor, ana, marisol, natalia, they all feel very superficial and temporary in a way that tommy doesn’t and for one, im super fucking excited to see where they take the relationship.
i’ve visualized the healthiest attitude for everyone’s viewing pleasure here :))

don't worry guys buck will spend eps 7, 8 & 9 saying "my boyfriend-" "yeah, well, tommy-" every two seconds bc he misses his boyfriend (their schedules aren't helping them) and everyone will get sick of him and in ep 10 tommy shows up again

Craving Tommy as their son’s coach for Little League
Wearing some tight pants and a hoodie with Coach Kinard on it
And Buck just on the stands watching his husband and son having their fun while he pull homemade snacks out of a cooler for their break
Taking pictures and videos to send to Bobby and Maddie
And he’s also watching moms ogling his husband and trying to get his attention
Just a soft moment of their life every Saturday

"The introduction of his character is literally Buck turning in slow motion and Whatta Man is the soundtrack that's playing, you know? So I think if we look back at that moment, yes, there's definitely an element of [attraction]. Which then, not knowing how to deal with or process those feelings, he kind of sectioned it off into some kind of jealousy or insecurity about himself."
