This was definitely not how Simon saw himself. Sitting in a run down chinese resturant infront of his former one night stand and a toddler ready to fight for some chopped egg rolls.
It felt like a odd episode of the Twilight Zone for him. Simon had been trying to meet you and his child in a far better way, having called the night before to the clinic to ask if you'd be there which they had said no to- So Simon's plan was to go to get flowers, call to ask to meet and go down that road. However the phone number he had was bad so he wanted to see if he could convince someone at your work- which lead him to this awkward interaction...
Thinming about it the flowers he was pretty sure was wilting in his rental car outside-
"So.. Simon right?" You say softly, breaking the awkward tension between you two. He nodded softly, on edge as well but hiding it well with his natural intimidating feature.
"What clued you in to us? Or wanting to meet at all?" You ask, wanting to keep up the conversation as light and open for the father of your child.
"It was the Ancestory you took. Due to my part in the Military they alerted me to you two" He explained looking to Erik once again- the toddler happily munching on his lunch as he blinked those big eyes at him- They were exactly like his mothers...
"That and I wished to see my child" You felt a level of guilt at that, you always assumed that most men would rather not know they had a child in this way- but he seemed genuinely interested and his accent clued you in he had come from far away to do so.
"I understand.. I do apologize you found out in well a unique way" You say softly, chuckling at the oddity of this all and Simon bowing his head also in amusement.
Erik fussed as he reached for more eggrolls, but you giving him the finely chopped Broccoli instead which he looked ready to box you over.
"No Mama" He whined at first and pouted. However Erik's curious gaze fell to the large man staring at him, Erik had been oddly quiet and just observing the masked man in confusion. Simon smirked at this under his mask- he could tell his biy was observing him, Grabbing his fork as he stabbed into his own food taking up some Broccoli to eat himself pulling up his mask just enough to do so-
The child narrowing his eyes as he took a spoon of his own chopped Broccoli and shoved it into his mouth.
"Huh- Usually I have to force him to eat anything green" You mused, impressed that Erik was willingly eating the broccoli. Simon chuckled at this, admiration in his eyes as he stared at his son.
"Oldest trick, they see you eat it they will" He said as he stared at the boy clumsily eating the chopped food infront of him.
"Whats his name?"
"Erik, Erik Wyett (Y/L/N)-"
"Erik hm? Good name.. Little fighter hm?" He hummed, you giving the most deadpan exhausted look possible.
"You have no idea-"
Simon laughed at this, a hearty laugh at that which made Erik stare at the man and giggle. Erik's little dimples showing as he smiled at the man, you couldnt but assume Simon had the same.
"Do you want to hold him?"
After a moment he softly nodded, you standing up from your seat pulling a wiggling Erik with you and handing him to the man. You were hesitant of couse- but that was neither here or there, Sitting back down as you stared at the two.
Erik was staring at Simon confused by the face mask and who was holding him- Simon holding the toddler like he was made of glass, you could see he was unsure of himself now that he was holding the child.
"Hefty Lad, you give you Mum trouble?"
"No No" Erik's little voice said shyly, Making Simon's heart damn near melt. The toddler looking over Simon calmly, reaching his hand to mess with the drawstring of his jumper then to touch the short locks of blonde hair peaking from under the hoodie then finally his mask- reaching to pull it from his face but Simon reached a gentle hand up to wrap around Erik's fist before he ripped it off.
Simon paused at this glancing around calmly like at any moment someone would pop out before taking his free hand and pulling the mask away calmly.
There you and Erik saw his face, you couldn't lie. He was pretty in a rugged way, a crooked thin nose which had clearly been broken and set many times, thin stubble over his square jaw and hints of dimples on his muscular cheeks but it was the thick scars on his face that really took notice. One across his nose and another down the right side of his lip- He was like a well worn boxer.
Simon handing the toddler the mask who looked it over before focusing on his face again. Erik's chubby fingers tracing the scars that stretched across his nose and another over his lip and chin.
"Scary no?" Simon chimed, expecting the toddler to be uncomforble with his scarred face. However he was met with a surprise when Erik patted his scars with the forever sticky toddler hands.
"Boo Boo go away- No hurt?" Erik said softly, trying to rub the 'pain' away from the scars thinking they hurt the soilder. Simon smiled at this, which turned into the two looking in a mirror- Having the same almost Goofy crooked smile along with deep dimples, it just made your heart flutter.
"No hurt Mate, no hurt"
For the rest of your lunchbreak you and Simon agreed to meet up later at your home to talk about child arrangements and more important matters- Simon holding Erik the rest of the time getting him to finish his kunch and crawl over him till Erik fell asleep on his shoulder still clutching the mask in a tight fist.
Stepping out of the resturant Simon a bit reluctantly handed Erik back to you. Clearly wanting to hold the boy forever it seemed-
"Thank you for being so.. accommodating" Simon said calmly, knowing most wouldn't be so interested in something like this- However you smile as you hold your heavy boy.
"It's no problem, I appreciate the effort and how interested you want to be in Erik's life" You say sincerely. Simon felt a fluttering in his chest at your kindness towards them-
"Oh I had these for you" He said softly before going into the rented car and pulling out a bouquet of absolutely devastated Peonies and Lilies.
Simon mentally slapped himself as he held the clearly almpst dead flowers- He felt like a awkward teenager again. However you giggled at this and gently took the flowers from his hand, smiling at the sweet gesture.
"Thank you, That's really sweet Simon" He gave another smile which made your heart flutter, however your phone chimed snapping you back to reality.
Exchanging quick goodbyes you run back to the Clinic holding Erik who was starting to wake from his nap by the sudden movement. Simon watching you run off as he stood by the car dazed-

“When are Margot and Ron coming to town?” Bradley chewed on the corner of an eggroll.
Jake shot him a dirty look over the table that you caught the tail end of. “Tomorrow.”
“Who are Margot and Ron?” you asked innocently.
“Lizzie’s parents,” Jake answered. There was a curt tone in his voice. Looking around the table, you saw they noticed it too.
Ellie was out of earshot, showing Phoenix a new toy Jake had bought her in the living room. Dinner was winding down, and you carried the empty takeout boxes to the kitchen, an empty bottle of red wine under one arm. As you rounded the corner, you saw Bob trailing behind with the dirty dishes.
“Thank you,” you said as he started to rinse them off in the sink. Of all the aviators, he was your favorite. The quiet, soft demeanor. There was a heartbreaking smile beneath the glasses, and you thoroughly believed he was handsome despite what misconstrued view he had of himself. Plus, he had such a good rapport with Ellie. They all did, but you watched the sparkle in her eyes as she called for Uncle Bobby, the way he easily swung her into his arms, the way he looked at her. She had every single one of them wrapped around her little finger. Any boy she dared try to date in her teenage years would have to go up against a team of Naval aviators. You pitied the fool who would try.
“Natalie?” Bob’s voice was hesitant and you looked up, eyes wide.
“Yeah?”
“Not sure if I should be sayin’ this,” he said quietly, “but watch out for Margot.”
“What do you mean watch out?”
He shook his dark blond head. “There’s something about her. Always put us on the offense. She loves Jake like her own son, but I don’t think she’s going to take too well to the fact that he has a new girlfriend. Lizzie was their only child, their entire life. Just do me a favor and be careful.”
You stepped closer and laid your hand on Bob’s where it sat on the granite countertop. He blushed, but caught your eye. “I will. Thanks for looking out for me.” You pulled away after a moment and stood next to him, the two of you washing dishes in a peaceful silence.
After a few minutes, Ellie came running in the kitchen, holding onto your leg, as Phoenix followed after, a flush of pink exertion from chasing Ellie on her beautiful face. “Need any help?” she asked you and Bob.
“Think we’re all set, thanks.”
“Honey, why don’t you go see what your daddy is up to,” Phoenix said gently, running her hand through Ellie’s hair before she took off toward the separate dining room. She straightened and looked at you. “Listen, Natalie, about Lizzie’s parents.”
Bob waved one hand in the air. “Already covered it, Nix.”
She nodded. “Perfect.”
“I appreciate you two looking out for me,” you said and you meant it. They had adopted you into their lives as well. They were a family, Jake and Ellie, and they came with an even bigger one: the dagger squad. And you loved them, too. How could you not?
Phoenix rested her hand on your upper arm for a moment. “Trust me, you’re going to need all the luck you can muster.”
She and Bob shared a look and you sucked in a sharp breath. You weren’t ready for this.
***
“Tell me again. Who exactly is with my granddaughter right now?”
Jake sighed and pressed himself up from the granite countertop, looking Margot in the eye. “Margot.”
“Mom,” she corrected.
“Mom,” he said and the word was strained coming out of his mouth. “Her name is Natalie. We’ve been dating for six months.”
“And she’s out driving Ellie around?” The disdain was obvious in her voice. Her yellow bob haircut was sharp and ended right where the massive pearl choker circled her thick neck. Jake watched her red talons tap against the countertop with one hand, the other on her ample waist. Behind her, his father-in-law Ron sat on the couch flipping through the channels. “In what, a Prius?”
Jake shook his head. “Natalie is intelligent and successful. She’s a lawyer for an asset management firm, she’s great with Ellie.” The doorbell rang and he turned. “And she drives an X5.”
He swung the door open and Ellie jumped into his arms.
“Hi baby,” he said enthusiastically, brushing her hair from her face. “Did you have a nice time with Nat?”
Ellie nodded. “We went to the art store and we got our nails painted!” She held out her tiny fingers, showing off her sparkly pink polish and Jake chuckled.
“Looks great, sweetheart. Guess what? Grandma and grandpa are here to see you.”
“Hi cookie!” Margot appeared around the corner, opening her arms and Ellie launched herself at the older woman while you closed the door gently, stepping awkwardly into the foyer. Ron hovered on Margot’s rear, leaning over and pressing a kiss to Ellie’s temple where she sat in her grandmother’s arms.
Finally, after everyone was settled, all eyes landed on you.
“Hi,” you said into the open room. “I’m Natalie.”
Jake shook his head, sliding one arm around your waist. You watched Margot’s eyes narrow as she took in the two of you. “Sorry, honey. I should have done that. Natalie, these are my in-laws, Margot and Ron.”
You smiled your best smile, the one you reserved for client dinners, and watched Ron return your smile before Margot shot him down with a glare. “Nice to meet you,” she replied curtly. “Will you be staying for dinner?”
“Um.” You looked at Jake with panic in your eyes. The last thing you wanted to do was crash their dinner, or spend any amount of time with the woman that Bob and Phoenix had warned you about. But Ellie’s wide eyes and grin pulled you in.
“Please?” Ellie begged. “Stay.”
You nodded. “Of course, peanut.”
Margot set her back down and you took Ellie’s hand. “Should we get washed up?” Jake nodded and you took Ellie upstairs to get changed and wash her hands for dinner.
After dinner, which Margot had made and which strongly lacked proper seasoning, you offered to wash dishes while Ron and Margot played with Ellie in the living room. Jake helped clear the table, sidling up next to you at the sink. “I’m sorry,” he said.
“For what?”
Jake tipped his head toward the living room. “For them. I know they’re not my parents, but they kind of are. I’m responsible for them, in a way.”
He was referring to the fact that Lizzie’s mom grilled you the entire dinner. From where you grew up to what college you went to, how much you made at your job, whether or not you wanted kids in the future. At one point, it got so ridiculous that Jake had to step in.
Margot, can you please just stop?
Her eyes had nearly bugged out of her head. I’m just trying to get to know your friend, Jake. There was a venomous bite on the word friend.
You shook your head, swirling the orange sponge around the dish. “It’s OK, I’m used to it. You should have met my ex’s mom. She asked me the first night I met her why I wasn’t planning on naming my firstborn child after her.”
Jake shorted and you chuckled, even though it had been partially traumatizing to twenty-four-year-old Natalie.
“She obviously cares for you like a son,” you added.
“If she did, she would just want me to be happy. For her, it’s about preserving Lizzie. And that means closing me off to anyone else.”
“I’m sure that’s not what it is.”
Jake slid a finger under your chin. “You’re too nice,” he said softly and you could feel the heat radiating off of his body as he stepped closer, lips intoxicatingly near yours. “It’s a blessing and a curse.”
Just as you were about to drop the dish into the soapy silk and toss your hands around Jake’s neck, drag him closer, feel his tongue mash against yours, Ellie ran into the kitchen. “Grandma says it’s bedtime!”
Jake looked up at the clock over the microwave. “She’s right, peanut. Want me to get you ready for bed?”
“Can Natalie do it?”
You smiled and nodded. “Of course. Lead the way.” You followed Ellie up the stairs, tossing Jake a beaming smile on your way out of the room.
Once you were upstairs and out of earshot, Margot entered the kitchen. “She’s too young, Jake.”
“She isn’t, and it’s not your place,” he was terse, sliding right and taking over your spot at the sink and finishing the dishes.
“She’s going to run out on you,” Margot continued and Jake’s jaw tensed up as he scrubbed at a dirty knife. “She’s twenty-six for God’s sake. What could a girl like that want from a man with a child? What’s to stop her from leaving you for the first guy her age with a good paycheck or a handsome physique?”
“I love her.”
“What?” She was aghast and he knew it. “What did you just say?”
Jake shook off the soap bubbles from his forearms and turned around, wiping at his hands with a dish towel. “I said I love her. I am in love with her.”
“My daughter is barely cold in the ground and you’re already in love with some child?”
“Lizzie has been gone almost two years,” Jake said. “She wanted us to be happy. You, me, Ron, Ellie. All of us. Can’t you let her have that?”
Margot shook her head, one hand close to her throat like she was going to choke herself out. Her voice was shaky. “You’re ruining her memory, Jacob. A real man would mourn his wife instead of going out and immediately finding a side piece.”
Jake slammed his fist against the counter and the sound shocked Margot back a step. He was not a violent man by any means. “Don’t you dare tell me I don’t mourn my wife. Lizzie was the love of my life. She was my entire world, before Ellie came along. I loved her with every single fiber of my being. She’s so much a part of me that I don’t know who I would be without knowing her. Don’t you come into my house and tell me that I’m ruining my memory of my wife. Say anything like that again and I will throw you out on the street.” “Jacob.” Ron’s voice was heavy and it cut through the tension. “She didn’t mean it like that.”
“I don’t care,” he bit out.
Jake stomped toward the staircase.
“Never disrespect the memory of my wife ever again.”
“She’ll never compare!” Margot called out. “She’s a child, Jake. What does a child know about raising a little girl like Ellie?”
His footsteps were heavy on the stairs, and after a few moments he edged open the door to Ellie’s room, spotting you laying on the bed with her, whispering in her ear. Ellie giggled and you pulled the covers up tightly to her chin, running one hand over her forehead before planting a soft kiss on her temple.
“Goodnight sweetie,” you whispered and Ellie smiled.
“Goodnight,” she replied. Jake opened the door widely and Ellie’s eyes locked on him. “Goodnight daddy.”
“Sleep well, princess,” he said and his voice was thick. You hadn’t heard any part of the argument in the kitchen. Jake pressed one hand to the small of your back. “I love you.”
***
Despite how hard he tried to choke them down, Margot’s words roamed freely in the pastures of Jake’s mind for days after the argument.
What could a girl like that want from a man with a child?
What’s to stop her from leaving you for the first guy her age with a good paycheck or a handsome physique?
You’re doing Ellie a disservice by letting her get so close to someone who is only going to leave.
He shook his head. He knew she was wrong. You were none of those things. He had nothing to worry about.
So why was there a miniscule fraction of his mind that said otherwise? Why did the smallest, most minute part of him, deep down, wonder if there was any truth to what she was saying.
Would you leave the first time it got truly difficult?
And if you didn’t leave at first, would you resent him later on?
***
You could tell something was wrong by the way Jake’s jaw was set when he dropped you off at your door.
There was something off with him all night. It had started the moment he picked you up. Instead of rushing out to grab the door and open it, he had lingered for a moment too long in the driver’s seat and you let yourself into the passenger side with a frown. It wasn’t that he didn’t open the door for you. About that, you couldn’t have cared less. It was that he seemed like he had his head in the clouds from the moment he first laid eyes on you.
He was distant at dinner, pushing around his halibut and potatoes on the plate, adding only meagerly to the conversation. Even when you turned it to his favorite things: UT football, Ellie, Game of Thrones.
So when Jake dropped you off, his fingers falling quickly from your waist, you felt the overwhelming urge to address the elephant in the room.
“What’s going on?” you asked, back pressed against the brick siding outside the door.
“What do you mean?” His voice was calm, borderline cold.
You shook your head. “I’m not going to play your game, Jake. Either tell me what’s wrong or I’m just going to go inside and call this night a flop.”
He was silent and you sighed, pressing your key into the door and shoving it open.
“Goodnight then,” you said quietly and Jake stuck out one hand to stop the door from closing.
“Wait,” he said.
“Yes?”
“Do you love me?”
His words took you by surprise. It was obvious, based on your shocked reaction, that he had expected an instantaneous answer.
“I asked if you love me.”
“I heard you,” you said. “Give me two fucking seconds.”
“Fuck!” Jake said, slapping his hand against the outer brick entryway wall and you crouched back instinctively.
“Jake,” you said slowly. “What is this about?”
“I’m asking if you love me,” he said and there was a mix of exhaustion and sadness in his voice. “If the answer is no, that’s fine, just cut me loose now.”
“Baby,” you murmured, stepping closer and taking both of his cheeks into yours. “I do love you. I’ve told you that. What on Earth is this about?”
He shook his head, peeling your fingers off of his face and dropping them back to hanging near your sides. “It’s about the fact that you hesitate before answering that question.”
“You didn’t give me two seconds to respond!”
“I told you I didn’t want to do this!” Jake shouted and the register of his voice shocked you, sending you stepping back a few paces until your back was pressed against the banister of the staircase. “That I can’t afford to bring someone into Ellie’s life if they’re not going to be there tomorrow. That’s not fair to her and it sure as fuck isn’t fair to me.”
You ran your fingers through your hair. “I don’t understand where this is coming from.”
“I need you to be sure,” Jake said, stepping forward, his voice dipping into a low register. “If you say you love me, I need you to know what it means.”
“I am not stupid, Jake,” you gritted out. “I know what that word fucking means.”
“Do you?”
Tears started to prick behind your eyes. “Why are you doing this? What did I do to you?”
Jake recoiled seeing the tears begin to bubble over your lash line, soaking your lovely face. He had to unfurl his fists at his sides. For a moment, he had been so caught up that it wasn’t you he was yelling at.
It was Margot. It was himself.
“Nat,” he whispered, stepping closer but you held out a hand to the middle of his chest, keeping him at bay. “Honey, shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to raise my voice at you.”
You shook your head. “Goodnight, Jake. I love you, but you need to leave. Before one of us says something we’ll regret in the morning.”
And with that, you shut the door in his face, leaving him standing with his head in his hands in the cool night air.

You have me now | Cat hybrid!Jungwon AU
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jungwon x Reader ft. Bang Yedam
Genre: fluff, angst
Warnings: depression, slight nudity
Word count: 1.7k
Synopsis: Going through some tough times in your life, you come across someone who is struggling as well. And now you never thought you'd find solace in your cat, Jungwon.
Author's note: this is my longest fic yet! I got very emotional with this one. Btw, thank you for all your support! 😭❤may all of you have someone to depend on in your darkest times.
Dark gray clouds cloaked the skies, with vicious thunders warning everyone that heavy rain threatened to pour mercilessly. It was 5pm, your last class had ended long ago but your teacher had to make you stay to discuss important matters with you; your failing grades in his class. And to make matters worse, your boyfriend had just broken up with you through a text.
As you make your way through the gates of the school, you groaned as the cold rain engulfed you within seconds.
"Guess this day can't get any better huh."
You make a sprint for it, not caring about getting your socks muddy anymore as your arms make a futile attempt to shield yourself from the rain.
Amidst the harsh cry of downpour, you were stopped at your tracks by the sound of weeping meows, not too far away. And there it was, under a tree was a small kitty crying in sorrow as the cardboard box which was probably supposed to be its home melted away in the rain.
You've never been one to keep pets, but you've always had a soft heart when it came to animals that is why without hesitation, you scooped up the poor kitty in your arms and ran home.
You were dripping wet, shivering as the warmth of your apartment slowly welcomed you and your companion. You settled the kitty on a rug as you took a warm shower and changed into an oversized shirt and sweatpants. When you finished drying yourself, you notice that the kitty barely moved an inch from how you left it, still shivering.
"Hey kitty, you'll be okay now." you cooed and stroked its wet head and ears. It looked at you cautiously yet gratifyingly and you were shocked at how much emotion its eyes held. Almost like a human.
"That's kinda odd. But you have very beautiful eyes though." you smiled.
Never having owned a pet, you were honestly unsure on how to take care of it. And so, together with your wet books, you blow dried the kitty with your hair drier. You giggled as the kitty flinched lightly and its fur stood up, probably new to the sound and sensation of your hair drier. Your laugh fades as your eyes train upon the scars all over the poor kitty's body. You could have easily missed it because of its dark fur but as it dried more, it became more visible. You knew battle scars when you see them. As your fingertips lightly grazed your scarred wrists, your heart can't help but ache for the small cat.
"I won't let anyone or anything hurt you again. I'll take care of you from now on, okay? You can depend on me." you assured and it meowed in response, tilting it's head sideways as it blinked at you a few times.
At dinner time, you rummaged all of your cabinets for anything you can feed to the small cat. The rain hadn't ceased yet, withholding you from going outside to buy proper cat food. For the time being, you decided that a can of tuna will suffice.
You placed the bowl of food in front of the kitty, taking a few seconds before it cautiously moves closer to it to sniff it.
"Well go on, don't be picky." You raised your eyebrows, placing your hands on your hips. The kitty meowed and did that thing again, tilting its head and blinking at you before dipping it's head into the food. It only took a few minutes for it to finish eating and you felt like a proud momma. Poor little thing must have been very hungry.
That night you decided to let the kitty sleep above your blanket, settling into its place at the foot of your bed. Suddenly, the sound of raindrops have never felt so calming as you slept soundly that night for the first time in weeks.
The morning welcomed you with bright sunshine beaming through your windows. You hummed in content as you snuggle closer to the warm body that cradled yours.
Your eyes shot wide open at the sudden realization and shoved the person away from you. You stumble out of your own bed and stare at the gorgeous boy that blinked at you confusedly.
"Come back to bed, I want to sleep some more." He whined sleepily, tilting his head as he blinked at you. Why did it seem familiar to you?
You combed through your hair profusely, trying to stay calm as you rake your thoughts on what had happened last night. Did you got drunk and brought a boy over? Your blanket covered his body up to his neck but you were sure he wasn't wearing anything underneath, remembering how warm his skin felt on yours. You slap yourself internally and took a deep breath.
"Umm hey, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. Last night was a mistake." you said awkwardly, fiddling with your fingers. He blinked at you, seemingly hurt.
"I'm sorry, did I do something wrong?" He said sadly and sat up and attempted to reach out to you, your blanket sliding down to his hips. His entire torso was now in full display and you quickly stopped him.
"No, stay! Don't come near." You shrieked as you look away with your hands covering your eyes.
"Do you regret taking me in last night?" He asked bitterly, looking down to his hands.
"What, what do you mean?" You remove your hands from your eyes and glance at him, your eyes quickly falling to his scarred torso.
Just like—
"Oh! Did my human form freak you out? I'm so sorry, I'll change back."
My cat. Under the covers, was the kitty you took in.
To say that your morning was eventful was an understatement. You told him to change back to his human form and had him wear one of your oversized shirts in which he happily sniffed before putting on, and a pair of shorts that your brother had left when he last visited you. And now both of you are seated at the kitchen table, eating kimchi fried rice and eggrolls for breakfast. It has been 5 minutes of awkward silence when he decided to clear his throat.
"I guess I should introduce myself." He said shyly, his eyes glued to his plate.
"Please do." you nod, trying to stay composed.
"I'm Jungwon, and I'm a hybrid."
You take in a shaky breath. A freaking hybrid.
"I grew up in the animal shelter, where I was separated from my parents since birth. I don't know if they're hybrids as well." his fists clenched under the table and he took a deep breath, his eyes closed tightly. You quickly notice his discomfort.
"Hey, it's okay—"
"At the animal shelter, they didn't treat me well. The workers often lashed out me and hurt me when I couldn't obey them. And I didn't know why but I had this instinct of not to show them my human form. Honestly, this has been my longest time as a human." Jungwon said ruefully, ashamed to look at you in the eyes.
"When I was old enough, I escaped and ran away. I swore to myself that I am never going back to that place. And then I ended up under that tree, drenched and starving and you appeared and you—" he choked, his tears trickled down his face and you quickly sat up fron your seat, rushed to his side and engulfed him in a hug.
"Hey, you don't have to be alone anymore. You have me now, okay?" You said as you stroked his hair comfortingly.
Once he'd calmed down, you introduced yourself as well.
"I'm Y/N. I guess I haven't told you my name last night." you chuckled. He shook his head.
"No, but I kinda peeked at your school ID while you showered. Sorry about that." He said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
"No need to be sorry for." you giggled.
Your conversation was abruptly cut off by the sound of your doorbell.
"Huh, who could that be?" you muttered to yourself, leaving Jungwon at the kitchen.
You opened the door, revealing your ex-boyfriend, Yedam.
"Hey, I was worried when you didn't text me back." You scoffed at him.
"Why would you even worry about me? Didn't you dump me?" you couldn't help it but you were angry at him. How he treated you so lowly that he thought you didn't even deserve a proper break up, that just a text message will be enough.
"Hey, you can't blame me. Y/N, your grades were failing, you were diagnosed with depression. You were falling apart—"
"And you decided I'm too much for you to handle. Yedam, leave." Your voice broke, your tears threatening to fall.
"Y/N wait—"
"Y/N asked you to leave." a voice spoke behind you, his hand reaching out to rub your back comfortingly. I'm here Y/N, I'm right here for you.
He didn't like the way the man you were talking to was making you feel. He could sense how upset you are and it pisses him off.
"Who are you? Back off man, this is none of your business." Yedam tried to brush him off.
"Any business of Y/N is my business too. Y/N, is this guy troubling you?" He asked you, his beautiful cat-like eyes look at you with tenderness and then shoots menacing glares at Yedam.
"No, not all." You smiled at Jungwon, and Yedam saw it. How your eyes sparkled as you look at the boy. You were happy. And when your eyes flew back to him, it was empty.
"Yedam, we're over. This conversation is over too. I hope you live a good life and thank you for being part of mine. That is all." You stated, feeling proud of yourself for handling things so well. For being strong.
"Bye then." Yedam said, turning his back to the both of you not before shooting Jungwon a look and muttering "Punk."
Once you close the door, you let your tears stream freely. Jungwon worriedly wipes away those tears.
"That human makes me want to claw his eyes out. I hate him for making you hurt like this." he scowled. You only smiled at him.
"Y/N, you don't have to be alone anymore. You have me now, okay?" he said, repeating your own words.

Bitter Reminder
↩ previous||Snacks & Stacks||next ↪
warnings: language & allergic reaction
Stupid bitch…thinking she had the nerve to leave me. Me! Of all people! Who does she think she is?! He sucks his teeth in annoyance, frustration building just by imagining her face. She thinks she can just humiliate me like that and walk out? Who the fuck does she think she is? She’s nothing without me. It’s about time someone put her in her place.
I’ll get her back for this. “Now let’s see….” Akhi smirked. “(Y/N) goes on in about 30 minutes. Her ingredients should be…ah! Here we go.”
A wide grin spread across his face as he stared at the batches of oil in front of him. The pale yellow of the grease stared back at him as it sat still in the fryers, no ripples or bubbles to be seen. He poured the old, unused oil into a couple of empty mason jars. Carefully, he placed the old oils under the table and dug into his bag to pull out another jar, except this one was full. He held in a laugh as he poured the new equally yellowish liquid into the fryer, switching out the chef’s avocado and canola oil with peanut oil.
“Good luck, Babe.” He smirked as he dashed out of the room, merging himself back into the crowd as he transformed into another bystander.
As the last of the crowd filed into the room the next day, Y/N breathed heavily behind the curtain, trying to calm herself down.
“I can do this…” she mumbles.
“Yes, you can,” Katsuki smirks, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. “We’ll be okay. Come on, let’s go out there and boss the shit out of this collab.” Y/N grins as one of the workers attach a microphone to her shirt before she steps out, waving at the crowd.
“Thank you, everyone, for coming out!” She put on her best smile as she stepped out next to Katsuki, who looked stoic and gruff as usual. “It’s such an honor to be here! So today, Katsuki and I are gonna whip up something special for you.”
She smiled as Katsuki nodded silently. “We’ve got our ingredients set up here. I’m going to be making Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. You decide what you were gonna make, Y/N?”
Y/N giggles into the mic with a nod. “Yep. I’m gonna make cheesecake egg rolls. Luckily, they gave us a freezer to keep the batter I made nice and cold. But, I’ll let you go first. Maybe help you along the way, if you’d like.”
“Knock yourself out.”
“So what do we do first, oh master chief of cooking?” “Pass me the bag of shredded chicken?”
Y/N looks around before finding the bag in the mini-fridge. “Here you go!”
“Thanks,” he nods. “So, after dicing up the chicken into small cubes, we add a third of a cup of diced celery, hot sauce, a quarter cup of cream cheese, a quarter cup of blue cheese, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.”
Katsuki announces what he’s doing, adding the ingredients while you start to make your dessert.
“Alright, so while Katsuki makes his dish, I’ll start on my Cheesecake Eggrolls. So in a large bowl, we take one softened package of cream cheese, a quarter cup of sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix that all together. If necessary, we can add a little milk if the mixture is too thick.”
The crowd made noises of astonishment as they both made their dishes.
“Now we roll out an egg roll and add two tablespoons of cream cheese filling down the middle.” She did the steps as she repeated the instructions out loud. “After that, we want to sprinkle some chocolate chips on this bad boy, then roll it up! Then before we start cooking, it’s basically just rinse and repeat.”
She repeated the steps, humming calmly to herself as she placed the chocolate chips and rolled the egg rolls.
“And now for the cooking portion of the exposition!” She announced.
“Time to cook the rolls over medium heat for one to two minutes on each side! But since we have fryers, we’re gonna use those instead!”
She dropped the egg rolls in the fryer one by one, lowering them into the oil as they started to bubble and cook.
Katsuki smiles softly before dropping it and continuing to narrate what he’s doing. She’s a natural. “After we add our mixture to the egg wrapper, we seal them with water and put them in the fryers.”
Both cooks place their foods in the fryers and wait a couple moments before flipping them and eventually lifting the baskets to shake off any excess oil.
“Yours done, Y/N?”
“Yup! You want powdered sugar on yours?”
“Sure, why not.”
Adding the powdered sugar to the confection, she shows the food to the camera and smiles eagerly. “And that, dear fans, is how you make Cheesecake Egg Rolls. It’s pretty simple and a great snack to share with your friends and family.”
“Bon appetit,” Katsuki chuckles before taking one of her eggrolls and handing you one of his. Taking another one upon finishing, the crowd chuckles as he licks the plate clean. “Damn, these are delicious. You want any hot sauce?” “Hmm, just a little bit.”
Drizzling some sauce onto her plate, they both eat and react to the taste of the other's creations.
"Well, looks like I was right about your food. This is good. Guess I won't have to go burn down the parking lot," he jokes as the audience laughs with him.
After another hour of meeting their fans, Y/N and Katsuki are given a lunch break that they take with the others. Meeting up with their eight friends, Katsuki is pushed back by a green blur.
“What the hell! Don’t you have eyes? Why can’t you watch where you're going, you idiot!”
“Izuku?” Y/N giggles when Katsuki looks down at him.
“Oh, great. Hi Deku.” Bakugo rolled his eyes in a slightly playful manner.
“Kaachan!” Izuku squealed, entrapping him in a big hug.
“Get off me, nerd!” He snapped after a few seconds of hugging.
“Kaachan?!” Y/N couldn’t help but laugh at the nickname and the two’s playful dynamic.
“Childhood name!” Katsuki quickly barked.
“Yeah, those two have known each other for a long time.” Kirishima grinned alongside the baker. Her grin increased as she watched Izuku clap his hands at "Kacchan," recognizing the name.
“You never told me you two knew each other let alone tell me you were childhood friends!” Y/N exclaimed.
Hitoshi crossed his arms in amusement and bumped her side. It reminded him of him and Y/N.
Y/N snickered at the action and looked at him with a caring gaze. Just like us, but instead of a tired purple insomniac, it’s a tsundere, loud blonde.
“Where’s your booth, nerd? I wanna see your merchandise and compare it to mine.”
“Oh? You’re interested in my merch? I recently got another artist that draws the anime style so well! Cmon, I’ll show you all!”
The ten friends walked into the ground, maneuvering their way through the crowd until they finally made it to Izuku’s booth. They stopped on their way for roasted cinnamon almonds, which had everyone snacking on the delicious treat by the time they got to the booth, which was on the other side of the convention hall.
“Ta-da!” Izuku did jazz hands and extended his leg.
He got out of his position and went behind the booth to grab a box and place it on the counter. The box had red writing on it that read “pins”. His large grin never left his face as he began explaining the pins, showing off the fantastic art on each pin of him in different poses in a chibi art style.
“Very cool, Izuku!” Y/N complimented him.
“Tsk! It’s okay!” Bakugo quickly corrected her.
“So, how'd the panel go?” Izuku asks.
“Pretty well. Food was decent,” Katsuki grumbles, looking around his body. “Ah, shit, I left my spice bag in the hall. I’ll be right back.”
“That's not what the video shows," Y/N teases before coughing slightly.
“You okay, Y/N?”
“Yeah. Is it hot in here?” she pants as they start walking towards the other food stands.
“No, but lemme go get you some water in the meantime,” Kirishima offers.
Nodding softly, she walks with the other girls as the boys trail behind. As her vision began to blur, she shook her head to try and push it away before stopping for a bit.
“Y/N? Are you sure you’re okay?” Momo asks, stopping next to you.
“Yeah, I just….” she mumbles before collapsing.
“Y/N? Y/N!” a voice shouted.
As Y/N’s hearing grew muffled, the world faded to black. The last thing she felt was strong arms wrapped around her as her knees gave out.

oh good god im in tears. thank you thank you thank you so much for taking time to make video of signing for me. wow, i— im not sure what to say. im- you have no idea how much that extra little step means to me. you are a gift to the world. an absolute treasure. i had to think hard about what i would like to see. never really asked from someone, when it comes to stuff like this, before and im worried of asking too much.
our boys are walking through a crowded market place when geralt looks to make sure jaskier is still behind him but out witcher turns around and his bard is just... gone. maybe angst, hurt/comfort, with a soft ending? I love the "Character A and character C must tend to Character B no matter how much it hurts B. A & C must ignore the screaming, the begging, how painful it must be, etc.. because B's life is on the life." trope 😅 and i feel like jaskier being deaf would make it all the more harder. It's a situation I've been in myself before, too.
1) I am so glad that my short little video could make your day. If you ever want some signed encouragement/answers, I’d be happy to record myself! I’m proficient in ASL but not fluent.
2) Writing this is fun and the hurt/comfort element really butters my eggroll.
3) Most of the sounds Jaskier makes in this fic, including the screams, are based on my coworker, who is considered “big D deaf” (with his consent)
tw: blood mention, minor injury, symptoms of panic, spitting the venom out (doesn’t work in real life, but this is fanfic)
---
Geralt hated the sound of screaming. It was shrill and high and it almost always led to something shitty. Whether that shitty thing was a village maiden trying to frame him for her lover’s offense, a child in danger whose parents would find a way to blame him for the incident, or some absolute fool in need of an urgent rescuing, Geralt found that screams were the worst kind of portent.
They were even worse when they came from his bard.
Jaskier’s screams were inhuman, partly because Geralt knew he was terrified and partly because the bard had no reference for the sound of ‘normal’ screams. Geralt knew from his witchery experience that people had all kinds of cries. There were high pitched wails of terror and curated yelps of pain; fuck, there were even flirtatious shrieks that came with giggles and squeals tacked on. Jaskier had never learned those. He was working with instinct alone, and instinct had told him to yell his fucking lungs out.
Jaskier’s high keens were heart-stopping. The sound couldn’t be mistaken for anything other than the bard’s bright tenor, but it was twisted and frightened, loud and long and high. It urged Geralt to run even faster, push himself even harder as he flew through the underbrush and between tree trunks to reach his friend in time.
He hadn’t even heard the monster sneak up on them. He hadn’t seen the creature snatch Jaskier away into the woods; he’d only heard Jaskier’s panicked noises and followed them as quickly as possible.
When he skidded into view of Jaskier and his captor at last, his heart plummeted into his boots. The bard was laying limp, his eyes closed, his chest barely rising and falling with shallow breaths. The Forktail that held him to the ground beneath one massive claw was missing a wing. Apparently it had adapted by hunting what it could find on the ground; this would be a fast fight.
Without missing a beat, Geralt swirled forward in a blur of movement. A few dodges and well-placed slashes later and the monster fell to the ground. Geralt, covered in the Forktail’s sticky blood but otherwise unharmed, collapsed beside his companion and shook Jaskier’s shoulders.
There was no use screaming for him to wake up, Jaskier couldn’t hear him, but Geralt did it anyway. “Come on, Jaskier! Wake up for me, please! Open those pretty blue eyes of yours and fucking look at me, goddamnit!”
Nothing.
The witcher registered the red mark near the bard’s collarbone and tipped into a full-blown panic: it had stung him. He lowered his lips to the over-hot skin and sucked hard, the bile-adjacent flavor of the Forktail’s venom burning beneath the coppery tang of Jaskier’s blood. He spat it out into the grass and leaned down again, pulling the danger out of the bard’s body one breath at a time.
When he couldn’t taste the venom anymore, Geralt wiped his mouth on the back of his hand and gathered Jaskier into his lap. He tucked the bard’s sweat-damp face against the cool skin of his throat and murmured anxiously, “Fuck, Jask, please. Wake up for me, yeah? Don’t die on me yet. You can’t. You’re too... you have too much music to write, still. You can’t die.”
He wasn’t sure what he would do if those blue eyes never opened again.
But they did. By all of Melitele’s finery, they did.
Geralt clung tightly to his exhausted companion, pressing their foreheads together tenderly as the younger man’s eyes blinked slowly open. The witcher’s calloused hands formed the signs before he could stop them, eager to reveal the secret that had weighed on him for months. Maybe years. I love you. I love you so much.
Really? Jaskier gaped. He stayed stock-still, his weight shifting like a scared rabbit’s in Geralt’s lap. His usually steady musician’s hands shook as he asked again, Really?
Geralt nodded as tears sprang, impossible and unbidden, to the corners of his golden eyes. Always, Jaskier, always. I will protect you. I love you. I promise.
Not lying?
Never lying. Not to you.
Good.
The witcher pulled him somehow closer and pressed a shower of kisses to the bard’s smiling face. Jaskier giggled and wiped a bit of blood away from the corner of Geralt’s eyebrow. He let the witcher paw at him and check him over for any further harm, his hands comfortably situated in his lap where he signed to no one in particular: Fucking finally.

Powerplay: a Marko x Reader fic
part 3 of 3, previous part here
Warnings: harassment, vamp typical shit, cursing, death/killing, smut mentions, reference to the book
Tumblr media
Marko was a good boyfriend, it turned out, except for when he wasn’t. You liked the sweet little kisses, the teasing way he snaps his jaw at you when you catch him staring, the way he holds you while you’re falling asleep even though he doesn’t have to.You like that he listens, more than your friends do. You rang another friend the other day, and were left waiting with the endless ringing again. You want to be upset, but they weren't as close as you were hoping they’d be. Your close friends were back in New York, three thousand miles and a year of working behind you. And they were Marko and his brothers now.
You love the way he keeps you safe, your protector being probably the deadliest thing you could encounter. You love the way he laughs, always joking and jovial. You always thought his smile hid a joke like some mystery, but now you're in on it too, and it's the funniest thing. There is no secret  joke, just Marko seeing the world with eyes full of humor. He sees the little things, and now he shows them to you. You love the way you can speak without speaking. Silence followed by heavy laughter, kisses, and understanding.
You even love that week you were on your period and every night he ate you out until you screamed yourself hoarse.
“Marko,” you’d say, “lets ride.”
And he would obey, letting you hop on the back of his bike, always after work, always too fast. You'd like to imagine him crashing as the wind whips your hair, stings your face. What that would be like, huh. It's what you assume he feels like when he flies, free and wild in the night. He caters to your every whim, makes you feel the happiest,  as long as the sun has set.
He was less a good boyfriend when he was hungry, brooding and refusing to get close to you. He would be irritable, pick fights, silent treatment. He would purposely leave you in silence, but he wouldn't ask for a taste, despite your offering. He respected you enough not to try that. Other times, he would make sure that you could hear every thought in his head. His thoughts sounded like shouts, always telling you to get the fuck away, always reminding you how vulnerable you were, how easy to kill you’d be. It's almost maddening. You never knew which nights he would be the silent ones, or which ones would be the loud ones.
“Marko,” you’d say, “This is just temporary.”
You don't even have to think the words for him to know what you mean. Or those moments during the day when it's highlighted just how different he was, would always be. He would always be twenty and handsome and having fun, with a guaranteed group of friends. With a family he belonged with. You would always age, you would have to find something else to do eventually, and you would probably have to leave Santa Carla, because he wouldn't. You could always bore him, with Marko one day realizing you can't keep up anymore. You would always be weaker, and no matter how often Marko puts you first, he always holds the power. You’re only the decision maker because he lets you be. He could always take that power back. Find someone new when you get old and he stays the same age. He will always be this way, and you will always change.
It's those nights you think of pulling away from him, and you hope he never hears those thoughts. You love him, but he’ll always say it's not temporary. It's not true.
You love Marko today.
The jingling of the bell snaps you from your thoughts, head rising only to be face to face with one of the surf nazis. Huh, guess the boys didn’t clear all of them out. This one was tall, a skinhead with an upturned pug-like nose, wearing a lot of denim with eyes alight with mayhem in his agenda. Oh, please don’t fucking break anything.
“Hey Baby,” he sneers. God, his voice was even worse than his looks and his smell.
“Not your baby,” you deadpan, wishing desperately for him and his friends to leave without stealing or breaking anything forcing a sickeningly sweet customer service tone, “But what can I help with?”
Maybe good customer service will get them in-and-out quicker.
“That hot little body of yours could help me out,” his tone is outright mocking. God, is this how dudes like these think they can pull? You can’t even hide your grimace as you flinch at the words. If there was anyone else, just one other person working tonight, this wouldn’t be happening. You know this. Working nights alone practically invited this brand of harassment.
fuckfuckfuck. It’s way too early for Marko to be sniffing around, and if you can get them to leave the next four hours of your shift will be miserable. The man laughs, and it makes your blood run cold. He leans over the counter, past the little curtain of incense haze; breaching your only barrier of safety.
“I bet it could. Couldn’t it, baby?”
His large arms press against the glass of the counter and your eyes immediately flicker from them to the back room, where your knife is. He straightens up.
“Cat got your tongue?”
You frown, meeting his eyes now.
“Do you plan on buying anything we sell?” The Bauhaus record you have playing over the speaker skips, and you almost jump. It's just enough to break the tension, the rising bile in your throat clearing.
“I come in here for you, girlie,” and he affirms what you already know. Now that half of the surf nazis were gone, they were struggling to maintain their turf on the boardwalk. So harassment and torture at their hands were on the rise. Many people over the past few weeks had been dodging them in the stores around here, and now apparently they had caught wise to that. Done with it, you take a step back, leaning yourself against the back shelf to retreat further into the curtain of nag champa.
“You can fuck off,” you offer, gaining confidence as you realize the bong behind your head was more than affordable, and if you broke it over his head, you could cover it.
He opens his mouth to respond, but-
The bell on the door jingles again. A familiar smile fades into a scowl. Marko looks like one of those greek heroes tonight, maybe if only because his presence saves you from the gross comments (or anything worse) of the shaved head across the counter. He immediately distracts the surfer from you.
“Why don’t you get outta here, buddy? Me and the lady were just discussing me trying her out later,” the man spits, and you almost gag at the mental image of that.
Marko laughs, that high pitched full body laugh you love so much.
“That’s funny, buddy,” He throws the man’s nickname back at him, “Cause that’s my old lady right there.”
You loved and hated when he called you that. Technically, you are a year older than the year he turned. The first time you all realized that, Paul gave himself a stomach ache laughing over the ‘older woman’ Marko brought home. Tonight though, the nickname brings the biggest smile to your lips.
“Damn right I am,” you chime in, “and you couldn’t take the hint.”
Marko seals the deal by striding over to where you are and pulling you into a kiss over the counter. It doesn't take much more for the surf nazi to leave, the jingling of the door opening announcing his departure.
“I’m gonna make sure we kill the rest of them before the week is out.”
He waits the three hours it takes for you to be able to lock up behind the counter with you, loosely holding your hips and following you around, only moving away from you to pick out new records when one ends.
Come over tonight, Marko thinks, and you know it isn't a suggestion. You kiss him hard on the mouth, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him to press against you. His arms automatically find themselves around your waist, squeezing you as he eagerly returns the kiss. This wouldn’t be your first time at their dilapidated hotel, with sprawling caves and chandeliers and beautiful spray painted murals on the walls. The first time you were there, he brought you there while the others were hunting. He fucked you on any surface not covered with knick knacks they'd collected or takeout containers, leaving you to sheepishly blush while he proudly talked to the others when they returned, deep red hickies and a bite mark on your collarbone you couldn't hide. The next time, the boys and Star and Laddie welcomed you in with booze and a feast and a fun night where you had to crawl out of the cave at dawn looking like a mess. Either way, he waits for you to agree before he leads you to his motorcycle.
“Star, Why don't you just become one of us already?” Paul whined, holding his half eaten eggroll like a cigar, “You're already living with us, Mama. We just want to be friends forever.”
She scrunches her nose, smoothing the long hair of Laddie’s head in her lap. The boy was tired, their unofficial little brother or not, he was still an eight year old.
“Or maybe,” David starts, dropping down from the rim of the check in counter of the hotel, “Star can just have some fun with them and we don’t even have to do what Max wants.”
The boys all laugh, Dwayne’s shoulders turning inward, while Paul smacks Marko in the chest behind you. Whoever Max was, he was someone that could give the boys orders; something you didnt think possible besides their own little group hierarchy. You'd figured out pretty quickly that David was the leader, Marko was his right hand, Dwayne was the left hand; with Marko enforcing, playful and impulsive, and Dwayne being the level head, logical and the one who often kept the boys from fighting and made them all remember why they loved each other so much. Paul was the baby. Both literally and figuratively. He was the messiest, the most likely to slip up;. He was also the one turned last. So when Star decides to be one of them, she’ll be the new baby. Then Laddie.
“No,” Star affirms, “No, I can’t do that to Michael.”
“Michael,” David tests the name on his lips, tongue darting out to lick them after he says it. The curly haired brunette on the boardwalk had a name. Then his eyes flick to you. There's a sharpness to them that feels so different from Marko’s. David is trying to stare through you, not to look inside of your head, to look past it, to see any weakness. A challenge.
“Who’s Max?” you speak up from your spot on Marko’s lap. You can feel him tense under you, but David smiles.
“You don't know about Max? Marko, you didn’t tell her about Max?”
Marko’s hand wraps around your wrist as David continues.
“Max knows all about you, y/n. There’s a reason you're here.”
Here as in, still alive in a vampire den, or here tonight specifically?
Mind thing? You think, and Marko leans his head down against your shoulder as he nods.
“So he knows Marko and I are X-men? Is he Professor X?”
You hear Dwayne and Paul chuckle from the other side of the circle, and Dwayne mutters, “Yeah something like that,” as he swats his hand at Paul’s mesh-covered chest.
“He sired us,” David clarifies.
“You feel it right?” changing the subject, “You feel like you need to be near Marko?”
Marko squeezes your wrist in encouragement, and you nod.
“He’s my boyfriend.”
“That's not what I mean.”
You know what he means. It's the way you feel Marko before you see him, the way you can never sneak up on him.
You nod again.
“That’s what Max wanted to know. Marko, do you wanna tell her, or should I?”
What does he mean? You think and the man below you perks up.
Come with me. His palms grip your hips and gently push you to stand, and he follows suit before taking the lead.
He leads you towards the mouth of the cave, where you enter and away from any listening ears.
“So you know how David is dating Star?” he asks, voice low and close to you in the shadows.
“If that’s what they’re doing,” you joke, and he laughs along with you.
“Well, he thought they had what we have, and that's why she’s with us.” He reaches for your hands to hold them, dropping any playfulness from before.
“I’m supposed to turn you, Max thinks. He’s a lot older than us, and he says some vampires have mates or something similar to that. Others they have some deep mental connection with. The guys… we can hear each other sometimes if we try hard, because we’re a pack. I don't have to try with you and that's why Max thinks it's different.”
Turn you? Like, capital T- Turn you? Into one of them? If he turned you, you’d never see the sun again; never feel its warmth. You’d have to drink blood, and human blood at that. You’d become a killer, and you’d have to keep killing. While you aren’t innocent, killing kind of seems like it would be a stretch for you. Some of their victims had to be innocent, but would your hunger corrupt your morals one day?
It's like he can see the wheels turning in your head, ability to hear your thoughts or not.
“Y/n, you don't have to. Fuck, this was dumb to bring up. David thought you were ready, but if you don't want to I won't make you…” He trails off, visibly a little more deflated.
But if you did, you would be on the same level as Marko. All of the insecurities you have about your relationship would just… stop existing. Your relationship’s expiration date would disappear, your fears about having to leave him or him leaving you would disappear. You'd have people and a place to belong and lover and guaranteed group of friends to be a new family.
“How does it work, Marko?” your voice surprises him, and in honesty, he brought you to the mouth of the cave to give you an out. If you wanted to leave here, leave him specifically, he was going to let you.
“You gotta drink, uh, vampire blood.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
You shrug.
“Are you sure? There's no take backs for this,” Marko’s voice is stern, unlike you ever heard it before.
Deadly sure, Marko.
He smiles, slowly like the moon rising in the night before it crescendos into the wide toothy grin you're so used to seeing.
Marko leads you back into the den of the cave where the others are hanging out.
Dwayne is the first to approach the two of you.
“Everything okay?”
You nod thankfully, offering him a smile.
Paul swoops in next.
“You better be tellin’ me you're joining the fam, chica!”
He tries to drape his arm around your shoulder, but Marko pushes him away playfully, both of the boys smiling.
“Let’s get this girl a drink!” Marko shouts, and the guys start up hollering and laughing.
Marko leads you back to where you had originally been sitting, his designated folding chair. He gestures to you to sit down, while he looks to David for something. Over his shoulder, you can see Star frowning as she watches on.
“Glad you got to talk it out,” David remarks as he hands a bottle of wine to Marko. Maybe you’ll be able to get used to his mannerisms in half a century. Marko hands off the bottle of wine to you, and your hands dip with the weight of it.
The wine bottle is bejeweled, another do it yourself project that the guys seem to love so much. It's heavy in your hands, dark and unseeing down the neck of it, but full. Marko crouches down between your legs, palms flat against your thighs as everyone waits with bated breath. You uncork the bottle, noticing the dark red staining on the cork, and knowing exactly what’s in it now. Two shaky hands bring the bottle to your lips, tilting your head back as you let the contents flow into your mouth, filling it. The ‘wine’ is thick, warm and salty but feels like it's already intoxicating you from just being in your mouth.
“That’s all Marko’s blood, you know,” David remarks, and you swallow deeply. All Marko. He drained his blood for you, weakened himself for you. Your eyes flicker to him, and he smiles up at you from his spot between your legs.
You smile back at him, widely, teeth stained with blood.

I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship (Misty/Fem!V/Jackie) Smut
Notes: Sooooo, this isn't really canon to my V's like story, as far as like her actual series goes (which you should look at if you want plot with your porn ayyy) but more of a fun what if, that I was possessed to write at 8am and am now publishing at 2:40 am cause I've lost control of my life and wanna see these three fuck.
Warnings: Vaginal sex, cunnilingus, creampies, unprotected sex (fucking wrap it before you tap it, fucking hell Jackie) blowjobs, oral sex, licking cum out of a vagina, just porn, so much porn.
Summary: V has a problem, many problems, but we're focusing on the one for today. Her, Jackie, and Misty are friends; really good friends. Completely platonic and chill friends. They're her best friends in fact, the closest friends she's ever had. So, why does she want to fuck them so bad?
*Also, the V in this is my own, she is a cis woman and also deaf.
V has a problem, multiple problems if she’s being honest, but one in particular has been overwhelming her as of late. She doesn’t do romantic love, she’s told herself time and time again. A misguided crush as a child and a ‘what could have been’ when she was a slightly older child. Times when she thought she was in love or could have ended up there, but her hopes were dashed with cruel words or chance. And every other encounter since has been either platonic or just sex. You can be V’s friend or you can fuck her; no room for romance or muddy waters in the merc’s heart.
At least that’s what she says.
At least that’s what she thought.
Then she met Jackie and Misty. The Heywood boy who took her in. His sweetheart of a girlfriend. Her feelings are platonic, she tells herself. Friends, practically family, a platonic sort of love she’s so rarely found. And that’s more than enough, her feelings and desires don’t go  beyond that, she tells herself.
She watches Jackie workout at times, meant to spot him.  His muscle corded arms strained as he lifts weights, veins prominent and sweat tracing patterns down his skin. Freckled face flushed with exertion and V’s mouth dry at the thought of tasting the salt of his skin.
But, they’re friends.
V will catch herself staring at Misty from time to time when she visits the older woman’s Esoterica shop, getting tarot card readings and helping sort any new inventory that’s come in. Never missing the way Misty’s skirt rides up her thighs, showing a peek of soft thighs wrapped in fishnet stockings.
But they’re friends.
It's purely platonic when Jackie ruffles her hair, a big warm hand the size of her head, a grin wider than a canyon and sun glinting off his gold cyberware. The butterflies in her stomach and the flush on her face mean nothing more, they’re friends.
And it's strictly platonic when she and Misty bleach their hair together, legs practically entangled when they wait on the couch together. The way V’s breath catches at the press of skin and the sound of Misty laughing is just…  They’re friends, really, just friends.
They’re just friends, her mind screams when she’s sharing a bed with Jackie, pressed close to his warm body and inhaling the smell of his cologne. His large arms wrapped around her and thoughts flickering to if he’d let his hands move lover.
Just friends, she tries to beat into her own head, when she’s reminded of Misty’s hands gently holding her bruised chin after a bad gig. Close enough V could nearly kiss her black painted lips, what would it feel like having dark lipstick smeared across her neck?
They’re just friends, but sometimes she wishes they weren’t; she tells herself in shame after a night spent thinking of them in Jackie’s bed, him out on a date with Misty. V’s hand wet with her own slick after hours imagining she was pressed between them, the smell of her sweat sticking to his sheets.
Moving out will help, she decides. A little more space, a few more boundaries will keep those lines from blurring so easily. Her friends, just friends, are there to help her move in and set up her new megabuilding apartment.
Once everything is settled in, V orders them all takeout for dinner, the least she can do. The trio sits on the floor around her table, the holoprojector showing advertisements above their head. The curved built-in sofa is behind them, but its too far from the table to comfortably eat, plus it doesn’t afford the comfort of being closer to each other. Misty and Jackie sitting, nearly on top of each other across the table from V.  Trying not to stare at the way his fingers toy with Misty’s sweater.
“Can’t believe you’re actually moving out, chica,” Jackie comments after swallowing down a mouthful of dumplings. She swears she hears a hint of melancholy in his voice, but maybe it’s wishful thinking.
“Can’t mooch off of you and Mama Welles forever,” she signs and talks, comfortable talking when it's just them. The words flow easier, her throat less raw and blocked off.
“For the billionth time, you ain’t no fuckin’ mooch, V.”
“So you say.” V rolls her eyes and takes a drink of Nicola.
“Personally, I’m happy about it,” Misty states and that soda suddenly feels like cement in V’s throat. One of her worst fears potentially realized, that Misty or Jackie see her as an interloper, an intrusion on their relationship. That Misty is sick of some random woman sleeping in her boyfriend’s bed.
“Why’s that?” Jackie asks, half of an eggroll in his mouth.
“‘Cause now I don’t have to sneak around Mama Welles to see V, too.”
“Oh,” V swallows hard, feeling the air return to her lungs, “that’s right, I’ll never understand that whole thing. ”
Misty is one of the sweetest people in the world and V’s always considered Jackie’s mom just as nice, but for some reason the two can’t seem to see eye to eye. Mama Welles hung up on Jackie getting back with one of his ex’s.
“She’ll come around eventually, Ma just takes a while to warm up to people.”
“Me, not people, just me. Pretty sure, she’d jump for joy if you and V were dating,”
V chokes on her noodles, heat flushing up to her hairline at the thought. Not helping, Misty, not helping. Misty laughs at her, V trying to recompose herself.
“Why would you say that?”
“Uh, ‘cause it’s true!~ She adores you, V. Not that I can blame her.”
“Pfft,” V rolls her eyes, scoffing, “trust me, she’d turn on me in a heartbeat if I tried to steal away her precious baby boy.”
V teases Jackie, reaching across the table to squeeze at his cheek, he smacks away her hand, grinning and a flush of red across his cheeks.
“Fuck off!”
“True, she is so protective of her precious, Jaquito~” Misty joins in, giggling and scratching her nails along his chin.
“I didn’t sign up to be harassed today,” he pretends to complain.
“No sign up necessary, my harassment comes free and unsolicited~,” V reaches for an eggroll and accidentally knocks an open can of cola into Jackie’s lap, “shit!”
“Ah, fuck,” Jackie flinches a bit as cold soda hits his crotch.
“Sorry, sorry,” V blurts out, grabbing up napkins and starting to reach over the table to dry him.
“I, uh, got it! It’s fine!” Jackie quickly stops her and she realizes she was a fraction of an inch away from trying to rub his dick dry.
“Uh, right, sorry, I, sorry.” V falls back on her but, trying to pretend she isn’t embarrassed by the instinct.
“Its okay, V,” Jackie insists, trying to dry his pants, “what’s a wet sticky dick between friends?”
“Jackie!” V yells at his innuendo, the audacity of this man, meanwhile Misty is giggling behind her hand.
“It shouldn’t stain,” Misty says when she stops giggling, rubbing Jackie’s shoulder, “I think you left some clothes at my place, you can change there, so you don’t have to wear wet pants all the way back to Heywood.”
And that’s right, they’ll be leaving at some point. She’ll be having her first night alone in her apartment, just her…  She taps her fingers against the floor, staring at a seam on her couch. She’s an adult, she reminds herself, she can handle being alone.
“Yeah, we’ll go ahead and get out of your hair, V.”
“Yeah, yeah, appreciate the help,” she hopes her signing and voice don’t give away her discomfort. Then there’s a gentle hand over her own, neatly painted black fingernails on her skin, warm and smooth skin compared to V’s more calloused flesh. Misty having shifted closer to the side of the table, so she could reach V.
“Unless, you don’t want us to go?”
“Uhh,” what kind of adult can’t be alone in her own apartment, V admonishes herself, “I-”
“You still have trouble sleeping alone, right?” Jackie asks, raising an eyebrow, eyes concerned.
“I mean… I don’t expect anyone to coddle me, I-”
“It's not coddling, V, we care about you. Adjusting is hard and if us sleeping here tonight helps, we’re happy to do it.”
“You know we’d do anything for you, chica.”
“Uh, okay then, I can sleep on the couch and you two can have the bed-”
“Pffft,” Jackie scoffs, “don’t be stupid,  we’ve been sharing a bed half that size for the past three months, V. The last thing I expect is for you to sleep on the couch.”
“Okay, if you’re both cool with it.”
And that’s how she ends up in her new bed with her two friends. Misty wearing a set of V’s sleep clothes, the shorts and shirt riding up slightly on the older woman just a few inches taller than the merc. Jackie stripped down to just his boxer briefs and V is accustomed to that she reminds herself, her partner in crime, sleeping in his underwear next to her more times than she can count. But, lately everything feels...muddier.
V faces the wall, on her side, Misty and Jackie cuddling behind her. They nearly pulled her between them, but she stopped them, insisting she sleep fine so long as there’s just someone near her. And that’s true, the warmth and knowledge that she’s not alone helps plenty, but more so she’s just not sure she would have survived the night pressed between them. Even like this… she struggles to sleep, feeling their bodies radiating warmth behind her.  She stares at the wall and tries to name stars, her go to trick for sleeping.
Then there’s shifting movement behind her, the feeling of the bed shifting a bit, and Misty’s foot slightly nudging V’s ankle. The little merc twists around onto her other side to see what’s going on, if Misty or Jackie need something and her breath catches in her throat.
Misty is pressed tight to Jackie’s chest, the couple spooning with her back to his front. His face is pressed into her neck, V can’t hear his face nor read his lip, but she can see them moving against Misty’s skin. Jackie’s large hands are toying with Misty’s body,  one hand down between her thighs and the other pushing her shirt up to grope her breast. Misty’s eyes are shut, head arched back just slightly, mouth slightly open as her boyfriend teases her.
V can’t help but stare, face a sharp shade of crimson, at the sight of the shirt being pushed up to reveal the underside of Misty’s breast, the muscles in Jackie’s forearm tightening as he fingers her.  Its a lot to take in, the sight, the feelings; the knowledge that they’d do this just inches from V. Desire and heat build in her center, her cunt getting wet at watching her friends fool around, finding herself imagining what it’d be like to have Jackie’s thick calloused fingers pushing inside of her or how soft Misty’s breast would feel in her hand. Then Jackie pushes the shirt all the way up above Misty’s chest, plump breasts and stiffening nipples on full display.
V shouldn’t be seeing this; shame and humiliation mix with her arousal.
Friends. They’re friends, damn it!
The speed at which V turns away from the sight, sends her half into the wall; knee and hands hitting it. She can feel Misty and Jackie shooting up behind her, mattress shifting, V tries to burrow down into her pillow hoping the two will somehow be convinced she just moved in her sleep. But the hand rubbing over her shoulder tells her that’s not the case. She forces herself to sit up and face her friends, just friends…
Misty and Jackie are sitting up more in the bed, Misty’s clothes back in place. Their faces are both flushed, Jackie isn’t making eye contact with V.  Misty hands V her hearing aid case, a gentle unspoken request for her to put them in so it’s easier to talk. And V doesn’t want to talk about it, doesn’t want to deal with this, doesn’t want to ruin this. But she can’t deny the soft look in Misty’s emerald green eyes, sliding her hearing aids in.
“Sorry, chica…” Jackie awkwardly apologizes the second V can hear.
“Okay…night... ” Is all V can manage, hoping this will be the end of it, hoping she doesn’t have to confront everything swelling up inside of her. V reaches up to take out her hearing aids, intent on just quickly pulling them out and rolling back over, to pretend this never happened.
Misty’s hand reaches her face first, cupping V’s chin and forcing the merc to make eye contact. Though her eyes do drift back and forth between Misty’s lips and eyes. The closeness makes it all the  more tempting to just kiss her…
But Misty beats her to it, nothing but tender press of their lips together. And V never in a million years believed of the three that Misty would be the one to break first.  Yet here they are, a soft kiss that lasts all of a moment before Misty starts to pull away, a quick peck meant to test the waters, but V chases after it, capturing the older woman’s lips again.  Her kiss is a far cry from Misty’s, hungrier, deeper and anything but chaste as she pushes her tongue into the blonde’s mouth.
“Shit,” Jackie curses, voice low and hungry as he watches his girlfriend and best friend makeout. V smiles into the kiss, finally breaking away.
“We’re a pair of  Catholic school girl uniforms away from acting out Jackie’s favorite BD, aren’t we?” V can’t help but tease remembering a few… select pieces from her friends collection.
“Hey!”
V falls back against the bed laughing, that sort of tension and fear melting away. Misty and Jackie laugh too; the sound music to V’s ears, the merc suddenly thankful she kept the hearing aids in.  They kissed and the world didn’t end. There’s no irreparable damage and if they wanted maybe they could all leave it there, a weird exchange that ended in laughter. Nothing has to change. One kiss between friends, no big deal.
Then Misty is climbing over her, moving to be on the other side of V, pressing against that side as Jackie moves in closer; placing her between them.
“Hello, can I he-” she starts to tease, then Jackie’s lips are on hers. His large warm hand on her chin, keeping her in place as he pushes his tongue into her mouth. She works to meet his movement, to give as good as she gets, kissing him back with the same passing. A moan leaving the back of her throat and dying on Jackie’s tongue when he shifts the angle to kiss her deeper. She grabs his bicep, feeling his muscles to anchor herself.
And, okay, it’s two kisses now. What’s two kisses between friends?
Jackie pulls away, pressing his forehead against hers, rubbing his thumb over her chin.
“Been wanting to do that for a while, mija,” he admits tenderly.
And that’s it, it's all too far gone and she’s done caring.
“Need you, both of you,” V finally says it, puts the words out into the world and prepares herself for what comes next.
Then Jackie pulls her shirt off over her head, leaving V’s breasts exposed, her nipple piercings glinting in the lowlight of the room.  Delicate fingers push past the waistband of V’s shorts, Misty finding and stroking V’s clit as Jackie dips his head to suck at the merc’s breast. She whimpers at the treatment, overwhelmed and squirming as the couple plays with her body. Slick coats Misty’s fingers and V’s thighs, the merc’s cunt clenching with every rub of her clit. Jackie’s tongue teases and licks at her piercing, he sucks at her breast, feeling her nipple stiffen on his tongue. Misty’s fingers slip lower, pushing inside of V. Its all too much, V’s pleasure building higher and higher inside of her. Jackie gives a little nip, not a true bite just the slight pressure of his teeth on her breast just as Misty adds a third finger. And it snaps, V crying out as she cums on Misty’s hand,
Jackie pulls off of V’s breast and Misty pulls slick coated fingers out of her cunt, the merc panting.
“Didn’t realize you were that sensitive, V,” Jackie teases, breath hot on her ear.
“Shut up.”
“It’s cute,” Misty assures her, kissing softly across V’s cheek and neck.
“So, cute,” Jackie says, but his voice with that edge of condescension before he bites her neck. She whines but responds by rubbing a hand over his cock, grinning when he jumps.
“Yeah, let's see how well you handle it,” she taunts, pushing him back flat against the bed as she straddles him.
His hard cock rubs against her, her shorts and his boxers the only thing between them. She kisses across his chest. Tracing her tongue along his tattoos and freckles, sliding her hand between them to palm his dick, feeling the warmth of it through the fabric. She trails her kisses down, watching his head dip back against the pillow, cursing under his breath as she makes her way lower and lower down his torso and stomach. She pulls her mouth away when it hits fabric, as much as she’d love to settle between his legs and tease him through his boxers, She’s not about to forget about Misty.
V pulls away to press closer to Jackie’s side, looking up to see Misty, staring at them, enraptured. The merc stretches over Jackie’s lap to catch the back of Misty’s head, tangling her fingers in the short layers of hair, bringing the older woman in for another kiss. She uses this to gently pull and encourage Misty over closer, until they’re both pressed tight against one side of Jackie’s legs, making out just above his erection. They break apart, with V giving a soft bite to Misty’s lower lip before hooking her fingers into the bottom of Misty’s shirt pulling it off over her head. She can’t help but get another eyeful of Misty’s chest, before turning her attention back to Jackie, intent on showing why having two people play with you tends to make a person more sensitive.
V slips her fingers into the top of Jackie’s boxer briefs, starting to pull them down, Misty helping her as Jackie raises his hips for them. The girls quickly getting the boxers off; V swallows hard at the sight of his dick. He’s big, something she always figured considering he’s nearly a giant towering over both Misty and V.  Its flushed red at the head, thick with prominent veins, and leaking precum on his lower stomach. Misty and V get their tongues on him, making Jackie curse aloud. V lapping the head of his cock to taste his precum, teasing her tongue piercing along the flushed sensitive skin. Misty, tracing the underside, licking along the veins and shaft of his cock.
V pulls away for a moment as Misty licks up Jackie’s cock. The merc watches as Misty takes the length of Jackie’s dick into mouth, inch after inch pushing past her kiss-swollen lips. V takes to licking the places where Misty’s mouth can reach, the part of his cock she can’t force down her throat without risk of gagging, V’s tongue chases after Misty’s mouth as she pulls up, tasting Misty’s spit on his cock, until she’s pulling off his dick with a pop. Before V can follow suit, taking her turn to feel his dick in her throat, he stops them. Large thick fingers tangling in bleached hair.
“Stop, fuck, fuck, gonna-fuck,” he groans out, nearly choking on his words.
“Aww, feeling sensitive?” V teases, biting at his thigh.
“Not helping, V.”
“I don’t think she was trying to help, Jackie,” Misty jokes, sharing a sly smile with V as they watch Jackie try to keep from blowing his load right there. Jackie reaches down and squeezes Misty’s ass, making her yelp at the sudden attention.
“Wanna feel you, carina,” he tells Misty, teasing her cunt through her shorts.
V helps Misty pull off her shorts, leaving her completely naked. The young merc can see the slick sticking to the inside of Misty’s inner thighs and all she wants to do is lap it up. But Jackie is already manhandling Misty, helping her move to straddle his lap, with her back towards him and facing V; reverse cowgirl style.  Misty puts her hands back on Jackie’s chest, leaning her weight back on him as he holds her hips, his fingers squeezing the soft plush flesh.
Slowly, Jackie pulls Misty down on his cock, making her moan out as he fills her. He bounces Misty on his cock, fucking up into her. V watches agape, not sure where she wants to focus, from where the two meet, his cock pumping into Misty’s tight cunt. Or to Misty as a whole, the woman put on full display for V to watch as her breasts bounce with every thrust and she cries out with every slap of flesh hitting flesh.
She settles for doing much more than just watching, V dipping her head between their thighs and licking where Jackie and Misty connect. Its a sloppy mess, trying to keep up with Jackie’s pace as he pound into Misty. V laps and licks at his cock where she can, tasting Misty’s slick on him, kissing where Misty’s cunt takes in Jackie’s cock. She sucks and teases Misty’s clit, her own cunt clenching at the way the added pleasure makes Misty scream out. V’s mouth and tongue are everywhere they can be, desperate and sloppy in her rush to taste the couple, to add to their pleasure.
Misty grabs the back of V’s hair when she cums, pinning the merc in one spot as she screams out her release. V’s left to drool and keep her tongue out as Misty’s cunt and Jackie’s cock rub against her. She tastes the rush of Misty’s slick first, gushing and twitching as her pussy is overwhelmed.  Then V tastes the bitter salt of Jackie’s cum, him cursing as he fills Misty and then keeps cumming, thick white spilling out and dripping back down his cock. The couple still, both panting heavily and Misty relaxing, letting V’s hair go as the young merc continues to lick up the mess. Misty collapses, practically boneless laying on Jackie’s chest.
Jackie gets his hands under her thighs and starts to bring them back, Misty whimpering as he’s able to hold her legs up, nearly bringing her knees to her chest. The shift in position causes his cock to slip out of her, his cum now spilling freely from Misty’s cunt, a wet messy show for V.
“Clean her up for me, V?” He asks it as casually as he’d ask V to lend her car. And V is just as happy to oblige.
V buries her tongue inside of Misty, moaning softly when Misty squeals at the feeling. Its a mess of Jackie’s cum and Misty’s, mingling on V’s tongue as she licks it up like she’s starved for it. Misty is a sensitive mess, being eaten out so soon after being fucked to pieces, but V doesn’t hold back; rubbing a thumb over the woman’s swollen clit while she laps up every drop of Jackie’s cum. There’s a shake in Misty’s thighs, instinct telling her to clench them shut, to trap V between her legs, but Jackie keeps her spread wide; only able to whimper and whine as the mess is licked up as her twitching wet clit is teased alongside every stroke of V’s tongue.
With each lick V tastes less and less of Jackie’s mess, cleaning up the creampie he’d left inside of Misty. And she doesn’t know what it is that sends Misty over the edge, one too many rubs of V’s thumb over her clit or particularly deep lick, V desperate to truly swallow down every drop of seed. But something does and Misty’s sent into a second orgasm, trembling and gushing against V’s tongue, screaming out as the pleasure consumes her.  The merc slows down gently, steadily  easing Misty through the aftershocks, until she’s done trembling.
Jackie lets go of Misty’s legs, letting her body relax as she gently moves to lay against his side. His cock is still half hard and there’s an itch inside of V that hasn’t quite been scratched, still wet and twitching between her thighs, the crotch of her thin shorts sticky with slick. But she doesn’t want to push it, she thinks as she goes to lay down on his other side. But, he has different ideas it seems, an idea catching in his mind as V’s in the midst of moving, on her hands and knees about to drop down onto the mattress. Despite his size he moves fast, grabbing at V’s hips and making her freeze, on his knees behind her as he pulls her ass back against his cock. She whines at the friction, as he grinds against her, quickly getting his cock fully hard again. Misty laying against the pillows next to them, satiated and content to watch the V and Jackie chase another orgasm.
And he yanks her shorts down as far as he can without changing the position, exposing her slick needy cunt.
“Fuck,” the low hungry curse sends a chill along V’s spine, the head of his cock leaving wet across her ass, before he rubs it over her sex.
There's a part of her that thinks they shouldn’t, that this is the step too far, a line that can’t be uncrossed; as if she hadn’t just had her face buried in Misty’s pussy. But, she needs this and by the tight hold Jackie has on her hips, he does too. A line that needs to be crossed even if it can’t be undone. An experience that has to be had, just to know what it’s like.
Then he’s sinking into her, pulling her back onto his cock, filling her. V’s eyes roll back, a silent cry on her tongue as she’s stretched and stuffed. Too much, too much; but exactly what she needs. Despite his size, he fills her easily, her body too needy to resist the push of him into her. He doesn’t give her time to adjust, not that she needs or truly wants it. They’re both at their limit, just needing this, to know what it’s like to be connected this way; to feel his cock pounding into her, to feel her cunt clenching around him.
She lets him set the pace, too overwhelmed to do anything, whimpering as he brutally fucks her; pulling her back against him as he thrusts forward. Both too far gone and desperate for this to be softer. The skin slapping together, sound ringing out through the apartment, a wet squelch everytime he sinks inside of her. Jackie uses her like a toy, like a human sized fleshlight to chase his own end with. And she knows she means more than that, in the moment it feels good to just be used, to be manhandled and fucked apart, to be a pillow princess taking his dick however he sees fit to give it. Each thrust sending her spiraling deeper and deeper into her pleasure, fucked stupid and mindless, unable to think of anything but how it feels to be fucked by him.
And that pleasure overwhelms quicker than she expects, bubbling over and orgasm hitting her before she even truly realized she was close. Mind going completely blank and throat raw as she screams out, cumming on his cock, toes clenching. And he fucks her through it, draws it out until he’s cursing under his breath and spilling inside of her. His second load, a little lighter than the creampie he left Misty with, but still thick and too much for V’s cunt to hold; the mess leaking down her thighs as she comes down from her high.
She whimpers when he pulls out, suddenly empty and more of his cum spilling from inside of her. Jackie collapses, in the middle of the bed, between Misty and V, sweaty and panting. V can’t help but laugh, throwing her shorts completely off, as Misty curls up close to his side. Jackie wraps an arm around Misty’s  hip. His other hand skims V’s back as she leans over them to take her hearing aids out, putting them on the side table, then she’s pulled down to lay against his chest. V nuzzles in, looking at Misty’s face across the expanse of Jackie’s chest, V being held just as tightly to his side. Misty’s hand is on his chest and V reaches up, intertwining their fingers, earning her a soft serene smile from the older woman.
And there’s a lot that’ll need to be talked about. So many questions as to what this all means; what does V even want this to mean? A one time thing they don’t talk about, don’t deal with. A friendship ruiner, the start of something… new.  So many possibilities and each one brings with it a different sort of anxiety. But for now, she’s content to sleep curled up under the sheets with her friends.

we’re planets in orbit, and i’m okay with this collision course

tags/warnings: swear words, best friends to one-sided sapphic pining to astronaut analogies to lovers, author brings back the space metaphors for another round of what is happening, lots of pining, the lyrics to space oddity
word count: 3.2k
a/n: may i humbly suggest you listen to love you forever by takayan while reading this </3
synopsis: If Kanoka’s oxygen, and loving her is the vast expanse of space, you’re the astronaut setting herself adrift with a single oxygen tank and equally copious amounts of hope and resignation.
Or: loving Kanoka will end in heartbreak. You might as well be greedy about how it happens.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
“Kanoka-chan!” The both of you look up from your lunchboxes to see your class president waving at your best friend. There’s an excited flush high on her cheeks, the same shade as the neck of the boy who’s hovering nervously outside your classroom.
Ah, you think a little forlornly, as Kanoka shoots you an apologetic smile and a murmured promise of be back soon, trying not to look at the way her skirt sweeps the back of her thighs, just shy of the back of her knees.
“Another one?” You hear someone say.
“I wish she’d leave some for the rest of us,” another girl jokes, and you pick disinterestedly at the last of the tuna in your lunch.
Kanoka likes tuna. I’ll give it to her when she comes back, you tell yourself, as if you don’t already know how this will turn out.
You wait five, ten minutes. She doesn’t come back. One of your friends - Aika - takes Kanoka’s seat in front of you, pushing her closed lunchbox to the side as she leans over the table to whisper in your ear that that was the captain of the baseball team, isn’t he just dreamy?
“Yeah,” you say, because that’s what you’ve heard everyone else say, “didn’t they go to nationals last year?”
Predictably, Aika swoons. “He did,” she sighs, resting her chin in her hands, casting a longing glance at the closed door of your classroom, “it’s really too bad that Kanoka-chan’s going to turn him down.”
You hum, feigning interest. Your eyes drift to the wooden door too, and you can’t help but wonder where Kanoka’s taken him. Nonchalantly, you add, “Yeah, she’s hung up on her childhood crush, isn’t she?”
Aika wails into her palms. “A waste,” she mutters, “he’s not even in this school.”
Privately, you can’t help but agree. What a waste.
A glance at the clock tells you it’s been fifteen minutes since Kanoka had left with the boy with the tan skin and the big hands and the sunshine smile.
You eat the tuna.
Kanoka slides back into class a sliver of a second before the bell that signals the end of lunch rings, smiling sheepishly.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
It’s lunch again, and this time, you’re on the roof.
“What happened with Seiji-kun?” Kaori asks.
Ah, the baseball captain. You try not to grimace. Seiji’s nice, after all - you used to sit next to him, in middle school. He’s sweet and kind and everything a girl who isn’t you would love in a boyfriend.
Except you don’t want a boyfriend. You just want Kanoka.
Aika scoffs, digging somewhat vehemently into her bento. “She turned him down,” she eyes Kanoka the way a housecat eyes mice, “like every other guy who’s confessed.”
“Sorry, Aika-chan,” your best friend apologizes, embarrassed and sincere, and it grates uncomfortably on your nerves.
“You don’t have to apologize,” the words are out of your mouth before you can think twice, “it’s totally up to you, you know, whoever you date. Or don’t.” You don’t look up from your lunch while you’re saying this, and belatedly, you hope that the edge to your voice is imagined, that you don’t sound as bitter as you feel.
“It’s fine,” Kanoka is quick to reassure after a moment of painful silence, and all it does is make you feel worse. Stop apologizing, you want to tell her, it makes me want to kiss you to shut you up.
“No,” Aika says, “Y/n’s right.” She sighs, and a pair of chopsticks come into view, dropping a cherry tomato in your lunchbox. “I was just hungry for gossip.” There’s a hint of playfulness in her tone, and you can’t help but feel relieved, even as it sears disgust deep in your stomach.
(You’re always so selfish.)
Kaori laughs. “I guess it’s good for his ego to be turned down every once in a while,” she giggles, and the last of the tension is broken. “Besides, all Kanoka needs is us, right?”
“Of course,” Kanoka replies, smiling that smile of hers - the one that makes your fingers go weak till you can’t pop the lid off a can, the one that you’ve had a crush on since middle school - and it’s what you wanted but not enough and it hurts so damn much.
All you’ve ever wanted is Kanoka.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
The next time another boy calls Kanoka out of class - because of course someone does - you’ve got tuna in your lunchbox again.
Aika and Kaori plop onto the seats next to and in front of you, throwing around names and giggling the way they always do when there’s a confession.
“Kanoka-chan’s really popular, isn’t she,” Aika says enviously, and out of the corner of your eye, you see Kaori reach over to pat her on the shoulder.
“A real heartbreaker,” she agrees, and you’re foolish enough to hope that that’s the end of that. You try not to stare back when they turn to you expectantly, cautiously picking up an egg roll, feeling like a rat before a snake, deer before a lioness. Maybe if you move slowly and carefully enough, they’ll lose interest.
No such luck. “Though she’s nothing like Y/n-chan,” Aika says, “at least Kanoka-chan’s nice about her rejections.”
You frown. “I’m nice about it too,” you mumble defensively, fending off Kaori’s chopsticks when they attempt to sneak away an eggroll.
“Sorry,” Aika intones flatly, “I’m not interested.” Kaori breaks into laughter at her impression, and you scowl into your bento.
“You’re insufferable,” you complain, depositing your tuna into Aika’s lunchbox anyway.
“Is that what you said to Hirata-kun from 2-8 last week?” Kaori asks sweetly, and you stick your tongue out at her in retaliation.
Aika sighs, flopping back in her seat dramatically. “Really, the two of you could have any guy you wanted. Your popularity is wasted on you.”
You force a smile on your face. I never said I wanted a guy, you want to say, all I’ve ever wanted is Kanoka. “It’s not my fault I’m good at everything,” you tease, “maybe if you’d pair up with Kanoka and I more often in gym, you’d learn to keep up.”
“But the two of you are always so intense,” Kaori whines, “everything’s a competition with you two.”
“I hate you,” Aika adds, but there’s no real heat behind it. “You get everything -  didn’t you weasel your way out of detention just yesterday?”
Chewing on the last of your lunch, you look up just in time to see Kanoka sliding the door to your class open. “Fujimura-sensei has a soft spot for me,” you say in explanation.
And isn’t that the truth - the whole, terrible, painful truth. You’re decent with your grades and competitive in gym; and everything that everyone else had wanted, like popularity and confessions from the guys in the sports clubs, you’ve gotten.
Of course it's fitting that the one thing you really want, the one person you’ve every wanted a confession from, is the one you absolutely can’t, will never have.
All you’ve ever wanted is Kanoka. It makes sense that she’s the only thing you’ll never have.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
There is no way that this will end in anything less than heartbreak. You've always known this, since that precise moment in middle school when you’d realized that other girls don’t always want to run their hands down the sides of their other girl friends, don’t stay awake at night wondering what their lips feel like, the way you do when you think of Kanoka.
And you think of Kanoka a lot.
It’s not just about the way her hair shines beneath the sunlight streaming in from the classroom windows, or the way her face glows from the inside out like a miniature sun when she smiles, or that one week in your first year of high school when she’d hit a sudden growth spurt and the school skirts a size bigger than her old ones were out of stock.
It’s about the way she likes to chew with all her food on one side of her mouth, like a hamster. It’s the way she looks on the court, focused and hungry for the victory you’re always sure she’d get. It’s the way she says your name, all soft and excited, the way your hands brush on the walk home like two planets on a collision course, the way you think you could hear her talk in a language you don’t understand and never get bored.
You could look at her forever and still find yourself breathless, like an astronaut floating in space with an empty oxygen tank. And, well, isn’t that just terrible?
There’s a movie you’d watched once, with Kanoka warm along your entire left side as you’d cuddled on her couch, like a furnace, like phantom warmth the seconds before eternal sleep in the midst of a blizzard. The astronaut had been trapped on a ship without fuel, the oxygen levels low. And maybe it didn’t matter whether he’d stayed on the ship or floated out into space with the single oxygen tank left - he’d die anyway, and he knew it. In the end, he’d chosen to die out in space, looking at the world he’d died to see, and it hadn’t been sad so much as it had been admirable.
Kanoka makes you feel like that astronaut must have felt, in those final few seconds.
You have a crush on your best friend, and she’s in love with someone else. There’s no way this will end in anything less than heartbreak, but really, all you are is a satellite in orbit around Kanoka, and even though you know that you’ve set yourself up on a collision course, you don’t think you’re able to pull away.
You’re going to have your heart broken either way, you remember realizing as Kanoka falls asleep on your shoulder and the credits roll - you might as well be greedy about the way it happens.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
When Kanoka calls you at night, while she’s away for the Spring High tournament, it’s about that childhood crush of hers from elementary school.
“Tanaka-kun likes someone else,” is the first thing she says when you pick up, and even with the crackling static you can tell that she’s on the verge of tears. “I was so stupid,” your best friend says, and you really, really, want to say me too, that makes two of us, “it’s been years, I should be happy he even remembers me.”
You let her sniffle into the phone for a while. Sometimes she just needs to get it out of her system, and you’ve known her for long enough now to know that this is one of those times.
“You know,” you say once the frequency of the sniffling decreases, and you have a sudden, disjointed thought that this feels a little like that one english song - Ground Control to Major Tom; can you hear me, Major Tom? “Kanoka-chan, didn’t you go to nationals for something else?”
Maybe it’s the wrong thing to say. But you’ve never been one to baby others.
“Yeah,” Kanoka says into the receiver after a moment, and her voice sounds a lot steadier now, less like she’s floating in space, “I went to win.”
You hum into the phone, and lying on the bed on your back like this, you can kind of see the stars in the night sky if you crane your neck to peer out the window by your bed.
You end the call a while after that. She’s got a match tomorrow, after all, and she needs her sleep.
You let your phone loll out of your hand and onto the sheets. Fumbling blindly, you manage to lift the blinds up a little further.
The stars look very different today, for here am I sitting in a tin can far above the world, you mouth the lyrics, and something in you aches to the beat of the dial at the end of a call, planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do.
You watch Kanoka play on live television the next day. She’s amazing, as she always is, and you wish you were there in the stands.
Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles, I'm feeling very still, and I think my spaceship knows which way to go.
You and Kanoka have always been planets in orbit, and you’ve convinced yourself that you’re okay with the collision course you’re on.
It’s not, you and Kanoka have always been planets in orbit, but you’ve convinced yourself that you’re okay with the collision course you’re on. It’s and, and that makes all the difference.
»»------------- ------------- ------------- ¤ ------------- ------------- -------------««
“Remember that movie we watched in middle school? About the astronaut with no oxygen?” The question slips out of your mouth before you can think twice. You have an odd sense of deja vu.
Kanoka hums, chewing her tuna onigiri thoughtfully. You indulge yourself by allowing your eyes to trace the slope of her neck and the line of her jaw, outlined by the fading orange of the sunset. “Yeah,” she says after a moment, “it was really sad.”
Yeah, it’s sad. What’s sadder is that it’s happening to you on a daily basis.
Instead, you say, “I was thinking of doing my art assignment on that,” and you really don’t know why you’d even brought this up in the first place.
“That’s so cool,” Kanoka tells you earnestly, and you fight the urge to brush off the grain of rice stuck on her chin. Looking is fine, looking is all you’ll allow yourself. “Though I still don’t really understand why he’d choose to drift into space. Wouldn’t he have lived longer if he’d waited in the ship?”
You try not to smile to bitterly as you answer, “I guess he figured that if he was going to die either way, looking into space the way he’d wanted to was a pretty good way to go.”
Kanoka frowns. “He could have done that from inside the ship,” she argues, and you really, really, should not feel this defensive.
“It’s different,” you insist, and your chest aches the way it had when you’d nearly drowned in the pool in elementary school, all out of oxygen, “kind of like go big or go home, you know?”
You can tell she doesn’t know. But you do, and it hurts.
“Still, maybe someone would have come if he’d stayed in the ship.”
“Yeah, maybe,” you accede, “but then he wouldn’t have had such a pretty view when he’d died. Because he was going to die anyway - no ship would have gotten there that fast.” You don’t know why you’re still on this topic, why you’d brought this up in the first place. It’s like you’re masochistic or something.
“You don’t know that for sure,” your best friend says softly, an expression that feels oddly familiar and yet entirely alien on her face, and suddenly you feel like you’ve missed something, stumbled unknowingly into a whole other conversation.
“But I do,” you say carefully, realizing belatedly that sometime in the past five minutes, you’ve both slowed to a stop. The streets are empty except for you and the best friend you have a crush for.
(You’re not in love with Kanoka. You can’t be in love with someone who doesn’t love you back. It’s a childish distinction to make, like between and and but, but it’s the only thing standing between you and the cold, oxygen-less expanse of space, and despite all your bravado you never really expected the collision to be this soon.)
Kanoka reaches out hesitantly to touch your hand, brings it up so that your fingers are as hopelessly intertwined as the hope and resignation you’ve carried since middle school. Her onigiri is gone. You wonder if it had taken the surrounding oxygen with it.
“Y/n,” she says nervously, and you hate yourself for hoping. You wonder when the last time she’d said your name without honorifics was.
You realize that this is the first time.
“Y/n,” your best friend repeats, tongue darting out to wet her lips, and it’s such a small, miniscule action - you would have missed it if you weren’t so horribly fixated on everything Kanoka - but it draws your eyes to her lips, and once it happens, you can’t look away. Caught in orbit.
And you’re so, so tired. Astronauts have to go through rigorous training to prepare them for space, but you’ve never had that. All you’ve had is a best friend who is as kind as she is tall and as pretty as she is loving.
And fuck it, you think a little hysterically, you’ve liked her for so long, and maybe this will mess your entire friendship up but you’ve liked her for so long, and maybe it will do you good to hear her rejection for what it is. Maybe it’d give you the closure you need to move on, and smile the next time a boy calls her out of class to give her snacks or a volleyball or a letter. Maybe, maybe, maybe.
(Maybe she would feel the same.
Maybe you could be in love with-)
When it looks like Kanoka isn’t going to say anything else, you do, before you lose your nerve and your mind with it. Maybe you’ve already lost it. All you are is a collection of maybe-s, now.
“Kanoka,” you yank your gaze from her lips to her eyes, large, and the love in your chest swells and swells like a supernova, “I like you. I really, really like you, and it’s terrible, and I’m-” You choke a little, “I’m sorry. I wish we wouldn’t change.”
There’s a horrible, horrible, moment when you feel like the astronaut must have felt as he let go of the cord to the ship, as he set himself adrift in the vast coffin of space. Then-
“Y/n,” and her hands are tender around yours, her skin soft like the bruised fruit of your heart, “what if we could?”
“What?” You’re lost, you’re drifting, and your lungs aren’t getting the oxygen they need.
“We could change,” your best friend says patiently, and you let yourself pretend that the red on her cheeks is a blush and not the shade of the waning sun, “because I like you too.”
Your oxygen tank runs dry. It rattles the way your heart shudders in the age of your chest, a tin can.
“Oh,” you say, and then you take a breath. “Oh,” you say again, in a tone of realization this time, and then you’re moving closer and Kanoka is too, until your noses brush like satellites and your lips meet like planets. Collision.
When you finally part for more than a few brief seconds for air, you smile. “I was always okay with this collision course,” you say into the crook of Kanoka’s neck.
“What?” You feel her try to pull away in confusion, and you allow her to, just to pull her back to you with a hand on her collar. You smile into her lips, “Nothing. Just thinking about magnetism.”

Survey #361
“the world is a vampire, sent to drain”
Have you ever been through a phase of thinking emo guys were hot? A phase? Hunny, they're still hot lmao. Have you ever dated someone that could play an instrument? Yeah. Juan could play guitar, and Girt played I think the tuba in band. What’s so horrible about wearing leggings like pants? I've actually never understood why people freak about this. Like so long as they're not sheer and fit you fine, why exactly is this a problem...? Weirdest picture you’ve ever taken of yourself? Oh dear. When someone claims to be suicidal, do you take them seriously? FUCK you if you don't. Honest to god, fuck you. This is NOT something you just don't even blink at. Even if it's surprising to hear from that person, you take that shit seriously and try to talk to them about it. Ever been kicked out of anywhere? Colleen's house. Ever had Skittles vodka? No, but that shit sounds good. Ever punched someone in the face? No. If you haven’t, do you want to now? Uh, I'll pass. Do you truly HATE anyone? No one I know personally, but people like rapists, pedophiles, etc., I sure as hell do hate them. Most historical/famous landmark/building you’ve been to in your country? No clue. Favorite flavor for most things? Strawberry, watermelon, or blue raspberry, depending on what the thing is. Ever taken pictures in a photobooth? Who with? Yeah: Summer, Jason, and I'm pretty sure Sara and I did? What is the closest book to you? It's a full collection of Poe's poetry that Mom got me. Are you reading it or someone else? I'm not a fan of either, but I'd definitely pick watermelons over cherries. Who was the last person you ate with? Truth is I'm going to lose people through life, and I'm not attaching my ability to happily exist to anyone. Are you wearing a ring? Two. Have your friends ever stopped by your house just to say hi? In the past, yeah. Do you like Chinese food? Not really. I only ever get pork fried rice and eggrolls from Chinese restaurants. Have you done any shopping for something in specific recently? No. Do you still live in your hometown? No. What was the reason behind the last time you stayed up all night? I don't recall, honestly. I haven't done that in a very long time. Have you ever had a UFO sighting or a sighting of strange lights in the sky? A very strange light, yes. Have you ever seen your mom or dad drunk? Yes to both. Seeing Mom drunk is very, very rare though. My dad was an alcoholic when I was growing up, so I saw him drunk plenty. Do your parents vote? Mom does, idk about Dad. Who’s the most romantic person you ever went out with? Jason. What restaurant has the best fries? Nowhere has anything on Bojangle's, y'all. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? No.

"Man, I'm up here working, putting my life on the line, and you up here messing around, dancing with some bimbo...does she have a friend?"
"I'll meet you at the bar in ten minutes. They don't like tourists in here, so try to blend in."
"He never begged for his life. Or tried to make a deal."
"If you ain't gonna shoot him, kung fu his ass or something!"
"Who put their hand on my butt? Do it again."
"Look at that rat!"
"I'm not the one running up in massage parlors looking for crime lords."
"I'll be remembered for getting rid of you."
"I want to slice those pretty lips right off her face."
"I'd put that knife away, bitch, before you have an accident."
"Wipe yourself off, you're bleeding."
"Snoopy is like six inches taller than you."
"I love Snoopy."
"It was a cowboy hat, and now it's a pith helmet."
"Nothing touches this body but pure silk."
"There are a lot of men chasing us."
"Some people think it's tacky, but I like it when couples dress alike."
"Let's put a dead animal on you."
"He likes you."
"I'm not shopping with you no more."

Shit Theatre Kids Say!
Hello, here are some of the random shit I've seen/heard/said/done at rehearsal or backstage during shows. This is by no means all of them. Just some of them, about my first year of doing theatre's worth, which was two years ago.
~"You are predictably dickish"
~"Wait I thought sausage was from cows!!"
~"Singing? In a MUSICAL? Never"
~"Just for your information I have a very small penis"
~ A girl to our choreographer-"Where is your black shirt, sister?"
Our male and very gay choreographer-"Laying on my bed right next to your boyfriend"
~"Ow I just hit myself in the head with a noose!"
~"Gets on stage face totally brown but body looking whiter than Uncle Sam on a cracker"
"What?" *hysterical laughter*
"That's my thing now, like I am whiter than Uncle Sam on a cracker"
~(To the tune of What I've been looking for from high school musical) "This feeling's like no other. I really want sleep! I've never had somewhere I really want to be, LIKE MY BED!"
~"Who's Betsy Ross's husband?"
"Jesus"
~"if you're fat, what am i? A beluga whale?"
~"I can't even! I can only odd!"
"What the fuck"
~"It's a beautiful day you guys!"
"It's a beautiful day for a murder"
"True"
~"You're a chill dick?"
~"My favorite human is probably Mickey Mouse"
~"...Beating her husband?!"
"I thought she was a lesbian!"
~"I need some MILK"
~"You have all that business to mind and you're still in mine?!"
~ *at Larosa's for a cast party* *one guy puts a very tiny dinosaur in the parmesan cheese shaker*
~ "wow you guys its brighter than all of our futures in here!" (We had just gotten into school on a Saturday and every light was off)
~"Unlock the door before I use my epic Vagina muscles" (We were locked out of the dressing rooms on a Saturday show)
~ "I'm so hungry can (our director) get here soon?! It's half an hour past when we were supposed to be here! I'm so hungry - you know what, fuck it. I'm eating this dandelion." *she then eats the dandelion and not five minutes later our director pulls up* "THERE IS A GOD"
~ "I wanna fuck the moon"
~ "Keegan you are literally an abortion fail. Shut the fuck up."
~"Almost all the guys here are adorable, but like, no hetero"
~"Why did you get me started on babies? I fucking hate babies"
~"That curtain just wiped me clean bro! It went straight up my backside!"
~"Old people blood is different it's dusty"
~"That's not blood! It's a thong!"
~"Eggrolls"
~ one of our warmups is that one episode of Spongebob (First you do this... Spin around... STOP!) and the first show our senior who leads us in starts it and another senior just "I FUCKING HATE SPONGEBOB"
"GET OUT LYDIA NO ONE LOVES YOU" was everyone's response.
~ our cast is going through warmups and our last one is putting our hands in "what team? Wildcats!" And well this happened
"WHAT TEAM???"
"WILDCA-"
"guys the audience can hear you!!!"
*very hushed voices* "what team?"
"wildcats!"
~(one of the dresses in the dressing rooms looks like it belongs in the 17/1800's probs cuz it does but one girl put it one bc she didn't have one) *spins around* "Betsy Ross who?"
~ I had to get chased through multiple scenes and everytime I got off stage, heart racing, I'd lean over to the nearest person and whisper- "I do more running on this stage than I ever do in gym class"
~ one time when I was running off stage I ran straight into this one kid who was technically in eighth grade but still part of our cast bc we needed guys.
~ the guy who chased me always fucked around with different runs
~ "my blood is basically Wendy's"
~ between shows on Saturday me and a few friends went to Wendy's... Then a few more people showed up... Then it was an impromptu cast party. No one said a name for our orders so the lady just put "Drama"
~ literally everybody but our Larkin running lines for her songs. And Larkin wanted to murder them all.
~ "I'm sorry you guys, but the air con broke in the backstage hallway and the auditorium. So we have box fans. If you guys wanna risk it, go get the haunted fan from the band room."
~ while at Wendy's the ice machine started randomly pouring ice and we all just looked at each other. "Sorry guys, the ghost followed us." Was uttered to the workers
~ "literally the only reason I'm still alive is because I really wanna do a show about lesbians in the 1930's but I cant do it next year if I'm dead."
~ "what's up there anyway?" (Asked about the loft where students are forbidden to go)
"Oh that's the suicide ladder."
"Why??"
"Our director fell off of it a few years back and nearly died. We aren't allowed up there."
~ "I hate to say it you guys but we have to use the pillows from the sex couch"
"why do you guys call it the sex couch?"
"Long story short, it glows under a blacklight and that means either blood or semen and let's face it, this is high school."
- before everyone needs to start getting ready we have a lip sync battle through the sound system.
~ "you guys I just realized that our A.P. Gov. Final and Opening night are the same day. I'm gonna die."
~ "CAN I KEEP THE GOBLET OF FAILURE?!" (In reference to a goblet our lead threw on opening night that then shattered)
"If you want to"
~ the entire cast had to fall down during one of the dances at the end. This lead to many "paint me like one of your French girls" Scenes. So many, that the line got banned.
~ an in depth conversation during intermission about three porn videos one of the leads has seen. 1) instead of moaning normal things, the girl moans "oh my goodness" Super fast, he didn't finish it he was laughing so hard. 2) it's in an art studio, and the guy is tickling the girl with a paint brush, then shoves it in - not her vagina, but her urethra. He didn't finish that one. 3) the guy spit, directly into the girls asshole. He finished that one.
We were laughing so hard, that we nearly missed it when the overture started.
~ "it is so hot my sweat is sweating"
~ "are you dab fanning me?"
~ "WHO MOVED MY SHARP THINGY?"
~ "get me my letter!"
~ "bro"
~ *everyone mouthing the lines the people on stage are saying*
~ *over exaggerated lip syncing to songs happening in front of a curtain as we all wait behind the curtain*
~ "where is the person helping me strip him?"
~ "Kroger is just nicer people's Walmart"
~ *everyone getting ready and quoting vines*
~ "free sh- fre sha va cado"
"What?"
~ "who's stepping on my shoes?! Who- oh it's me."
~ "I have to get home! I have a wife and kids!"
"You're 12"
"SIMS"
~ *the boys dressing room prank calls random restaurants*
~ *I have my legs up while I'm sitting on the dressing room table* *my friend slaps my bare leg* "that's a nice slab of meat ma'am"
~ " Can someone explain why it's called Buffalo Wild Wings if Buffalo don't have wings?"
"It's Buffalo sauce on chicken wings, Cayenne."
"Oh!"
~ "OOH draw me as a furry!" (Said by a twelve year old)
~ "Maddi... Draw me a chicken!"
~ (there is a stool in the girls dressing room that is so falling apart the seat is all duct tape and it comes off, it looks horrid.) "Hey guys look! It's the butt stool"
~ "hey gals the fun has arrived!"
(Everyone at the same time): "the fun has been here"/"Where is she?"
~ "someone just dropped their foot! I mean their shoe!"
~ "you only have 3/4 leg to shave and 1 and 1/4 leg to not shave"
Feel free to add on with the weirdest shit you guys have heard theatre kids say!

Living the Dream
Tumblr media
Chapter 2
Warnings: This is a dark fic, please don’t read if you are uncomfortable with noncon, kidnapping, and dark characters
If someone isn’t looking, it’s hard to see a dark car following them home. If someone isn’t looking, it’s easy to miss a single stranger in New York, especially in the dark. It really wasn’t safe to live in these old NYC apartments, the old locks were easy to pick, easier to break with a strong wrist. The single paned windows offered very little insulation or noise control, and again, their locks were easy to pick or break. Steve knew that their house would be an enormous step up for you, a leap even. The two of you wouldn’t live downtown NYC, it would be somewhere more beautiful, may even have that picket fence he knew you secretly dreamed about. He’d also make sure you were much more careful in the future. Be able to spot someone tailing you, check for hidden cameras you seemed to not notice, keep your kids safe from strangers. Yeah, things would be a lot different.
You woke up the next morning with half a dozen apology texts from your brother, and by noon he had called your office phone.
“Hey, I’m really sorry about last night.” He seemed sincere, you knew that he didn’t like to leave you hanging, as often as he did.
“It’s chill, I went over anyway. Tinkered around in the lab, watched a movie. Next time give me a heads up though, you’re ridiculously bad at responding or communicating in any way.” You scolded him over the phone.
“I know, I’m really sorry. It was super last minute, we got the call and I was out in 5 minutes. Will you come down tonight?” You gave out a lengthy sigh as your only response.
“I’m leaving for a while.” Your brother said in a monotone through the phone.
“Leaving? Where are you going?” You hated to see your brother go again, but you knew it was part of the job.
“You know I can’t tell you that.” You had learned not to ask questions a long, long time ago, when he first signed up for the Army. That was always his response “I can’t tell you.” It used to drive you up the wall, but now it was pretty routine. Still it left you miffed.
“I’m your goddamn sister, I’m not going to tell anyone, why do you still have to be like this?” You still knew that he wouldn’t give you a straight answer.
“Look, I’m going to be gone a few months and I have to leave tomorrow. Will you please come over so I can see you and say goodbye? I’m going to miss you.” It was hard to admit but you had come to rely on your brother’s presence in your life. You tried not to, you knew that he would have to leave like this for his job, that nobody was going to take care of you but you. It made you feel defeated, and mad at yourself. Gone were the days of cold indifference to your absent brother, you were close now, you cared now. This was one of the reasons why you tried so damn hard not to care about anyone.
“Fine. I’ll be over after work. But I swear to god if you flake on me again, I’ll kill you before you have a chance to leave, you hoe.” Your brother laughed, mumbled his agreement before you ended the call.
You wound up arriving late at the tower. Your coworker had been kind enough to jump your car, it clicked when you tried to turn the key, but from the sound of it, it was probably just a shorted fuse that ran down the battery. After a go with the jumper cables everything had turned out okay, and you promised yourself to take it to the shop in the morning, as you didn’t have the time to fix it up yourself.
Walking into the tower, it was again Mr. America himself that showed up on the first floor.
“Come here often?” He joked as the two of you made your way to the elevators.
“Are you the official greeting party now?” you wanted to see your brother, not some blonde super soldier.
“Hey, I think I’d make a great greeting party, who doesn’t love seeing Captain America when they walk in the door?” You just rolled your eyes at his comment, happy when the doors slid open to where you could find your brother.
“See you!” Steve called after you. You waved behind your shoulder, missing the scowl he had at your indifference. Everyone loved Captain America, he didn’t get why you seemed impervious to his charm, especially when he was nothing but polite. Plenty of women were falling at his feet for this superhero gig, what was with your sour attitude?
“What up asshole?” You banged the door open to your brother’s room and flopped down on his bed.
“I’m organizing, you messed up all my packing!! Move!” He waved his hands at you as you realized you had indeed flopped on his folded black shirts and a pile of socks.
“Whatever dude, where are you going, when will you be back? What’s for dinner?” You rolled off most of his clothes, but he made a point of yanking the shirt back that was still under your knee.
“You know I can’t tell you. But I’ll probably be back in a few months, like three or four. Six max.” He was focused on rolling all his gear and clothing into his tac bags.
“Six months?” Your brother hadn’t been gone for six months since before your parents had died. He would do a few weeks here and there, but you were grateful Stark kept him pretty close to home. “What am I supposed to do for six months?” you hated the thought of not seeing him for that long, not texting or calling him, just not knowing. He never checked in, he said it wasn’t safe. It was going to be six months of nothing.
“I don’t know, what did you do before? You have a life and stuff, just stay busy.” He was still more preoccupied with packing than realizing what he was saying.
“You know what I did before.” Your voice was icy.
Before, when your brother had been away, you had looked after your parents. You would take care of their lawn and garden; walk the dogs and every Sunday you would make dinner. It was usually three times a week you would read the papers to your father in the evenings, play cards with them until it was time for bed.
“Shit- I’m sorry I didn’t… I mean everyone here loves you! You need to hang out more, come watch movies, work on tech with Stark. They’re good people here, they care about you, you’re family to them.” His speaking was rushed, he was trying to cover his misstep.
“They’re your family. They’re more like coworkers to me.” You flopped back on the bed again, studying the ceiling.
“Stop feeling sorry for yourself. If you do that, you’re just going to wallow. You know that there’s enough tech here to keep you busy for years, not just six months. Come down here when you’re bored. Also, I think Steve may have a crush, he’s been asking about you a lot.”
You rolled your eyes at your brother but knew that he was right about the wallowing. Depression came quick if you let it, it was always best to head it off.
“Fine, I’ll come by more often to stay busy. Tell that golden retriever to stop sniffing around where he isn’t wanted though.” Your brother laughed out loud at that one, more used to your snarky attitude and flippant jokes than anyone else.
“You pick dinner, we can do anything. Small possibility I snatched the company card this morning…” He held a small piece of plastic between his fingers with a smile. You threw a pillow at his head.
“You’re the worst person ever.” You said.
“Hey, whatever. I figure Stark should buy me dinner before fucking me with this six-month assignment he’s got me on, right?”
Dinner came in the form of Chinese take out containers, as reruns of The Office played behind you and your brother’s conversation.
“Did I miss anything exciting? More importantly did you get anything good with my credit card?” Tony swiped the plastic card your brother had left on the table next to the takeout.
“Yeah, I bought a few Lamborghinis, a couple private islands, you know, nothing too fancy. Thought we could take a vacation once I get back.” Your brother replied around his eggroll.
“Well, as long as they’re my colors, it shouldn’t be a problem.” Tony replied, snatching a wanton and sitting down in a lounge chair. “Let me tell you, it’s gonna be pretty weird here without my house full of the team. I’m actually going to miss your horrible attitude and constant backtalk while you’re gone.”
“Wait, you mean it’s not just you leaving?” You turned to your brother.
“Nope, almost everyone is outta here tomorrow. Nat, Sam and Wanda are coming along. Bucky is somewhere in the steppes of Russia doing recon, and Bruce is doing what exactly? Helping out with Ebola, or is it clean water? Something about doctors, right Tony?” Your brother mused.
“Bruce headed to Yemen, he’s implementing our new filtration system for water, while providing free medical care to refugees.” Tony corrected.
“So, who’s left?” You asked.
“Well let’s see, it’ll be our golden boy Rodgers, he’s helping me with a huge PR nightmare, Pepper is always around, Thor likes to stop in occasionally, and the kid swings by when he’s not helping old ladies cross the street or playing video games after school. You know what?” Tony remarked, “Why don’t you stay here until everyone is back? Pepper would love it if there was a more talkative lady around, and no offence, but the guys here really trash the place. You could also pop into the lab whenever you want, get some late-night tinkering in when you can’t sleep. That’d be a lot of fun.” Tony looked like a five-year-old with a new bright idea. You laughed, sitting back against the couch.
“Believe it or not, I actually like the peace and quiet, that’s why I live alone. Besides, I am never, ever staying in his room. I saw what it looked like when he lived at home, I’ve found some weird shit he’s left in the corners.” You pushed on your brother’s shoulder.
“Hey! I never asked you to help me clean my room, and I was like, fourteen. Stay out of my room, Jesus.” You just laughed some more.
“See, exactly what I’m talking about. I really appreciate the offer though.”
“Okay, I won’t push it. On the condition that you come by at least once a week. No scratch that, two or three times. I’m going to keep calling you down to the lab, I don’t have Banner to balance me out.”
“You’re going to have to start paying me Tony.” You replied.
“No problem, I’ll have Pepper put you on payroll. Actually, you’ve got a ton of back hours logged, I’ll get that set up.” Tony stood and was already on his tablet.
“No! Stop, Tony it was a joke, of course I’ll come by. I’m usually free after five, just give me a call or text and I’ll come over.” Tony mumbled something that sounded like ‘yeah, yeah’ and continued out of the room.
“I hate to leave but it’s getting late.” You didn’t want to leave. You really didn’t want to leave your brother, not knowing if or when you would see him again. “Don’t fucking die, you hear me? Come home.” You looked him directly in the eye, you needed him to know that you were serious. He wrapped you in a hug and squeezed tight. You didn’t want him to let go.
“Hey. Hey, look at me,” he held your shoulders, “I’m going to be great. I promise. It’s not dangerous, and if it is, you know I can take care of myself. With my backup, the only person you should be worried about is the guy in my crosshairs. Okay? I promise that I’m coming home to you.”  You nodded and he squeezed you tight again. “Now go home and get a good night’s sleep. I’ll be home before you miss me.”
Regretfully, you parted ways with your brother, and headed towards the elevators. Down, down, down until it stopped on the 5th floor with a ding. It was golden boy Rodgers himself, who greeted you with a smile.
“Going down?” He asked.
“Yeah, it’s late, I’m heading home.” You were sad now you missed your pain in the ass of a brother already.
“Let me walk you to your car.” Steve offered, and you were too tired to turn him down.

little t&a (paul/gene, nc-17) (part 3 of 29)
Paul fretted and complained ad-nauseum. He didn’t want to see the psychic this soon; it was too much pressure. He didn’t have any clothes. Or rather, he had clothes, just nothing he wanted to wear. Gene knew he had at least two dresses—the black floral with the bell sleeves from his drag birthday party back in January, and a black polka-dot number from another party—and a substantial assortment of women’s blouses. What he didn’t have, and what Gene knew for a fact he didn’t have, was anything that fit correctly. No pants that would’ve worked. All Paul’s blouses and dresses were cut far too widely at the shoulders for him now. He’d be drowning in them.
“Look, Paul, you can’t run around in a bathrobe all day,” Gene countered, although he suspected that was what Paul had been doing for most of the last five days. “What did you wear to Peaches?”
“The dress from my birthday. It’s in the washing machine.”
           “Are you even wearing underwear?”
At any other time, with a girl that looked like Paul, the question would’ve been a teasing come-on. Right now, it was a serious indictment of his hygiene.
“I have on boxers.” Paul shot him an aggrieved look as he said it. “What’s it matter to you, anyway?”
“They’re probably about to fall off, is why it matters.” Gene grunted, trying to think. “What shoes did you wear out?”
“I stuffed some heels with tissue paper.”
That was a start, at least. Gene sighed.
“You’ll feel better with real clothes on. And I’ll feel better when your tits aren’t falling out of your bathrobe.”
Paul glanced down reflexively and bit his lip, untying and then retying the robe a little more snugly.
“I’ll get the other dress,” he mumbled, padding out of the kitchen without a backwards glance. Gene watched him retreat, waiting until he heard the bedroom door shut before he got up and opened Paul’s pantry door again, pushing past the groceries he’d already shelved.
He didn’t really expect to find anything good in there. Paul was almost pathologically afraid of gaining weight. He was always at his worst about it right before tours, too. Gene would catch him at the pool, staring at his chest and stomach like they’d personally offended him just by existing at all. He honestly seemed to think he could starve his way into a set of abs. The burden of being the band’s sex symbol, Gene supposed, pushing aside some packages of instant ramen and TVP (weird, if Paul was trying vegetarianism, that’d just add another expense to their tour budget—not that they’d have a tour if he didn’t get fixed) to find a small, shameful stack of Hershey’s chocolate bars.
He deserved something after the stress and frustrated arousal of the last hour or so. Gene took the entire stack of candy back to the kitchen island. He hadn’t even sat down before tearing into the first chocolate bar, and he’d only gotten two rows of it down his throat before Paul reemerged, in the black polka-dot dress from the drag party.
For a minute, Gene forgot he was eating.
Oh, the dress didn’t fit right. Too baggy in the shoulders, as expected, and the style was frumpy, not really showing off his figure much, besides his chest, still not contained with a bra. But Paul looked… pretty good. Definitely better than he had in the bathrobe. His curly hair was a lot less matted, and it seemed like he was standing a bit straighter.
           “Cute.”
           Paul shifted uncomfortably.
“I still don’t want to see the psychic today.”
“I haven’t made an appointment yet. It’s fine.” It was late afternoon, anyway. Gene didn’t know what hours psychics kept—if Ace was their clientele, chances were good they weren’t nine to five—but something kept him from trying Suzie’s number yet. He wasn’t sure if it was just not wanting to put Paul through more discomfort than he had to today, or if it was something else. Something like wanting to spend some time with him.
           “You’re eating my candy.”
Gene snapped a clean row off the chocolate bar, holding it up to Paul like an offering. Paul shook his head.
“I’ll pay you back with dinner, then, how’s that?”
           “Will you?”
           “Dinner and a movie.”
           “Oh, come off it, Gene—”
“Takeout and a movie. How about it?”
“Only if it’s on Masterpiece Theatre.”
“No. You’re fucking miserable. I’m getting you out of the house at least for the movie bit.” Gene started to smile, reaching over and sticking the last bit of chocolate in Paul’s mouth on impulse. Paul looked embarrassed, but he took it, licking his lips after he swallowed. It was more distracting than Gene had expected. “Have you seen Smokey and the Bandit yet?”
           “No.”
“I haven’t, either. C’mon. You can drive us to the movie theater.” In what he hoped might be the clincher, Gene added two words he’d rarely spoken. “I’ll pay.”
“But it’s like you said. I don’t have a license right now.”
“You’re also an ex-cabbie. I’m not too concerned.”
Paul’s brows were still furrowed. But it looked like he was considering it.
“Then what about getting recognized? Maybe I don’t need to worry about that right now, but you do, and—”
“So let me worry about that, okay? Just relax.” He was trying too hard, maybe. Shrugging off legitimate concerns. If Paul did get pulled over, chances were pretty good the officer would look the other way at his lack of a matching license. Gene could play the celebrity card if he had to in order to evade any real trouble. He was loath to do that under normal circumstances, and he didn’t enjoy the thought of breaking the law, if only by a supernatural technicality, but if it got Paul out of the house, then he’d go for it.
Getting recognized at the movie theater was the problem—Gene didn’t know how Paul would react to cameras flashing in his face when he was like this—but he was prepared to risk it anyway. Besides, half of being recognized lay in dressing the part of a rockstar, and that went for whoever he had on his arm, too. The blue jeans and polyester button-down he was wearing right now were toned-down enough from his usual fare, and Paul’s dress was oversized and out of style. Hopefully, all that would let them go to the movies unnoticed.
           “Okay.”
           “You’ll go?”
           “Yeah. I’ll go.”
“Good.” The corner of Gene’s mouth lifted up. “Cheapest date I’ve had in years, Paul.”
Paul flipped him off and snatched the rest of the stack of chocolate bars back. It was, Gene thought, a small price to pay to watch Paul flush all the way to his neck.
--
They didn’t get pulled over, and they didn’t get recognized. Paul opened the door for Gene into the theater, the way he always did, which afforded him some weird looks from the other moviegoers, but that was about it. Smooth sailing.
Gene got takeout from a Chinese restaurant nearby afterwards. They ended up eating it in the car on the drive back, Paul picking out eggrolls from the boxes and stuffing them in his mouth guilelessly. Gene got the impression he hadn’t eaten all day. He even tried to eat the fried rice while he drove, with the box in his lap, but Gene put a stop to that, and after awhile he started sticking forkfuls of rice in front of Paul’s face as a compromise. Apart from nearly missing a turn a few miles from his house, it didn’t seem like it distracted Paul too badly. If he’d noticed Gene’s pants tenting with every forkful, he never mentioned it.
In fact, it seemed like Paul was in better shape now. The only time he really faltered was when he turned on the radio, to check on the traffic, only for “Rock and Roll All Nite” to come blaring in. He didn’t say anything, but his shoulders slumped, and he turned it off so quickly, and so hard, Gene was almost afraid he’d broken the radio button.
“We’ll get you fixed, Paul, I promise.”
           “What if we can’t?”
“We’ll do it.” Gene didn’t want to think of the alternative. Paul had probably thought enough about it for both of them. They’d never be able to keep the band going with a girl fronting. Their image wasn’t right for that. Maybe Paul could keep writing songs, or Gene could pull some strings and get him signed to Casablanca as a solo act… no, that’d kill him. All of that would just kill him. Despite all the cracks forming in the band, Paul wanted to go solo about as much as Frank Sinatra wanted to join the Beach Boys. “Trust me.”
Paul nodded dully, before glancing up at the rearview mirror. He seemed to only just then realize he was pulling into his own driveway.
“Oh, shit. Did you want me to take you home? I forgot.”
           “Nah, it’s fine.”
“You sure? I don’t mind driving.”
           “I’m sure.”
“Then use my phone and call your chauffeur.” Paul parked the car, automatically trying to put the keys in a pocket the dress didn’t have. Gene shook his head, getting out of the car.
“It’s past eleven. I’ll just stay at your place.” That was better for both of them. More convenient than Gene having his driver take him home, and then back the next day. Plus, he figured Paul could use the company. He had the feeling the kid who’d brought his groceries and Peter were the only other people Paul had spoken to since he’d been cursed. “Hell, I’ll even shower.”
“You’d better.” Paul unlocked the door, letting him in. Gene stepped inside, expecting Paul to point him toward the guest bedroom. Instead, he hesitated, taking off the tissue-stuffed heels and sticking them on a shoe rack without a word.
           “I will.”
“Would you stay with me?” Paul burst into the words all of a sudden, then added, “Not like that. I don’t wanna fuck you.”
That made one of them, Gene thought dryly. God. Someone as self-conscious as Paul couldn’t be completely oblivious to the effect his new form was having on Gene. Couldn’t think Gene was just teasing him. Gene wasn’t sure if it was denial on Paul’s part or what. Sleeping in the same bed as Paul, when Paul was a shade under six-foot, hairy-chested, and guaranteed to be prickly-faced by noon had never been an enticing prospect, just something he’d had to deal with every so often over the years. Sleeping in the same bed as Paul now that he was a chick…
“I’m the same person, you know.” So he wasn’t oblivious. Gene didn’t know if that was reassuring, as he followed Paul into his bedroom. The bed was unmade, and the whole room smelled like Aramis cologne. “Just don’t wake me up with a hard-on. I’ll make it up to you later.”
           “Sounds promising.”
“Shut up.” Paul opened one of the dresser drawers, thumbing through the contents. “You still sleep in pajamas?”
“Only if I’m spending the night alone.”
Paul tossed a pair of pajama bottoms in his face.
Paul generally slept naked or in boxers, as far as Gene remembered from the times they’d shared a hotel room. Selfishly, he was hoping that wouldn’t have changed. The glances he’d gotten of Paul’s breasts earlier were mostly too brief for proper appreciation.
Instead, after Gene had showered and put on the borrowed pajama bottoms, Paul got a t-shirt and another pair of boxers out of the dresser and headed off to the bathroom, returning with them on, the hem of the shirt nearly lined up with where the boxers ended. Disappointing, but not surprising.
“You don’t have to cover up because of me.”
“If I thought you couldn’t keep your hands off me, I wouldn’t have asked you to stick around.”
Gene didn’t know how to answer that.
Paul tossed and turned that night, which wasn’t abnormal for him, but kept Gene up. At one point, the twitchy way he kept moving around made him tempted to ask Paul where his hand was, but he bit back the comment, reaching over instead to find Paul facedown against the mattress. Gene grasped his shoulder.
“You’re making the bed creak,” he mumbled out, and felt Paul still against him for a few gratifying seconds before he fell asleep.
--
The truth was, Paul had been trying to get off.
He had been every night for the last three nights, once the initial horror had worn off enough for him to be dejectedly curious. It hadn’t ever worked, and not just because he’d get spooked before he got very far. Every time he slipped a finger inside—not even a full finger, just barely past the first knuckle—it honestly hurt. Even tracing a finger across his clit wasn’t some quick-trigger to pleasure the way he’d always assumed. Everything just felt sore and tender.
He knew it couldn’t be a virginity thing. A regular chick could get off on her own without a problem. He’d seen that plenty. He was just stuck. It figured, really, to get trapped in a body that couldn’t even orgasm properly. No distractions from how damn miserable he was, with his life caving in on him, Gene totally unable to hide how much he wanted to fuck him—and the worst part was, Paul couldn’t find the dignity or the self-respect to call him out on it. Some pathetic part of him was actually enjoying the flickers of want that kept crossing Gene’s face. He’d never garnered Gene’s attention as a guy, not that he’d expected to, but—
He was thinking too much. He hadn’t been able to call up Hilsen since this shit had started, which didn’t help at all. But what could a therapist say to him now, anyway? Could he self-help his way into getting his dick back? With the way things were going, nothing was going to happen. He’d thought Peter’s coke habit was what would put them all out on their asses. But instead it looked like Paul was the one who was about to destroy the band just as they’d gotten a top-ten hit. He’d never get to play for another audience again. In a couple of weeks, he’d have to leave his own house and be assumed missing or dead, with all his assets taken by his parents. Then he’d probably be living on Gene’s dime for as long as it took for Gene to quit feeling pity for him, and that was if he was lucky. That was if Gene and the other guys didn’t take all matters into their own hands and get another frontman. Probably use one of his abandoned makeup designs for him, too. Paul exhaled softly against the pillows, too sickened by the thought to want to pursue it further.
But something had happened. Just for a little bit, when Gene had touched him. Paul’s hand was between his thighs, furtively searching for a little warmth, and then he’d felt Gene’s fingers curve around his shoulder. Not rough, and not tender, just there, firm and steadying. Paul’s hips twitched almost on their own at the touch, and all of a sudden, something hot burst deep within him, and he felt his own fingers actually sliding briefly against his folds. Just briefly. For the first time, he’d gotten wet.
He lay there a long time, past when Gene’s hand slipped away as Gene fell asleep, caught between trying to will that feeling back and fearing he’d only wake Gene up in the process. In the end Paul compromised, shamefully, scooting up close enough that he could smell the faint tinges of Chinese food on Gene’s breath as he slept. He’d forgotten to offer him a toothbrush before bed.
Paul couldn’t remember daring to touch him, but he must have, at least in his sleep, because he woke up early the next morning with his face pressed against Gene’s bare arm, and drool pooling on the sheets.

“You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and he won’t tell you he loves you, but he loves you. And you feel like you’ve done something terrible, like robbed a liquor store, or swallowed pills, or shoveled yourself a grave in the dirt, and you’re tired. You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and you’re trying not to tell him that you love him, and you’re trying to choke down the feeling, and you’re trembling, but he reaches over and he touches you, like a prayer for which no words exist, and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you’ve discovered something you don’t even have a name for.”
-          Stanza 24: You Are Jeff by Richard Siken
Morning Silence
Chris’ parent’s CRV had that distinct old car scent. It was a mix of Wendy’s fries that rolled under the seat, spilled drinks and sports bags that had accumulated over the years. I leaned the chair back, pulling my feet up to my chest. It was too late for us to be sitting on the Western Esplanade. Two other cars were in the lot, but too far for us to be concerned. In the distance, the light thud of bass from Arawak Cay whispered in my eardrums. I could taste the salt in the ear, but my eyes were focused on the way the ocean battered the shoreline. The waves were rough, hitting the sand over and over.
Three weeks ago I flew back from Atlanta to visit my family. For my own mental health’s sake, I made the decision to stay at a hotel. I loved my family but being alone taught me that the way my family interacted with me only stressed me out. My first night, I ate at hotel’s ramen restaurant, too afraid to walk onto the streets, mostly out of fear that I’d see someone I knew. It was too early. I needed to get settled first. The restaurant was mostly quiet. I saw in a corner, watching stray tourists walking past – aware that I too could now be considered a tourist.
“You straight?” The waiters voice pulled me out of my stare.
I nodded. “Yeah I straight.”
“Une been home in a minute, I could tell,” he laughed.
“That obvious?”
He raised one eyebrow as he poured more sake into my glass and walked away. Pulling out my notepad, I doodled for a moment, biting into an eggroll when I remembered I needed to eat. I was deep in sketching when an all too familiar voice echoed down the hall. I paused, knowing it was too late to pay my bill and escape, so I sat still, hoping I’d blend in with the wall.
The waiter seated Chris and his family directly across from me, but on the opposite side of the restaurant. His sister’s laugh sounded the same as I remembered. I sketched for a moment, letting my hair fall into my face - an attempt to hide it but curiosity got the best of me. I looked. He looked back.
“You sure you good.” The waiter was next to me suddenly. He looked at me, then looked at them, then back at me.
“You know what, this een my business,” he said, leaving the bill on the table. I placed my card on top of it. It was my escape ticket, but I was too afraid to leave. So I sat. The waiter came and took my card but said nothing.  When he brought it back, I stopped him.
“Is there another way out of here?” I asked.
He looked curious for a moment. His eyes seemed to be in search of a story, but it was clear he wasn’t going to ask.
“No, I’m sorry,” he said. “You have a good night ma’am, don’t do nothing too crazy ya hear.”
Closing my sketchbook, I took a deep breath and stood up, making my way towards the exit. As the gap between myself and his table started to close, I looked up once more. His eyes met mine and smiled this time.
“Alyssa,” he waved. His parents and siblings turned. Out the corner of my eye I saw the waiter pour himself a drink.
“Hi,” I whispered. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I said it. He got up, walking towards me and embraced me, but I couldn’t move. I could barely breathe. He pulled back, looking at me for a moment then took my hand and pulled me towards his parents. When we got close enough he let go, my hand flying into my back pocket.
“Good evening,” I half smiled.
“Mom, Dad, this is my friend Alyssa,” he said. I knew them already, but they didn’t know me. His brother and sister stared in awe.
“Nice to meet you,” his mom said. “Where did you guys meet?”
“Church,” his sister coughed. He ignored her.
“We used to work together at a firm in Atlanta,” he said.
“So we lying now,” his brother mumbled. He ignored that too.
Chris’ brother and sister knew the full story. For the most part, they took my side. His sister called him out when we were younger for not letting me meet their parents. His brother ignored him when he ghosted me. To some extent, I knew they liked me, but sibling loyalty was a boundary I refused to get in between.
“So you’re visiting,” his dad asked.
“No sir,” I answered. “I’m from here.”
“Oh,” he said. “Well it was nice to meet you.”
I nodded. In the corner the waiter was watching, shaking his head.
“You all have a good night,” I said, backing away. His father had gone back to eating, but his mom looked at me like she saw everything I was feeling. I turned quickly, walking towards the exit when I heard footsteps behind me and a hand grab my wrist.
“Wait,” Chris said.
“For what,” I mumbled.
“I- do you want to get drinks tonight? After I drop them home?”
“Don’t fucking do it,” the voice of the waiter called out.
I stared at him for a moment, about to turn away.
“Room 1172” I mumbled.
“Well Muddafuck,” I heard the waiter say as I turned the corner to walk back to my room.
------
Last winter at the bar, we both agreed we would stay friends for a while. We went out and got drinks, we shopped together, ran the Beltline together in the mornings. Our friendship felt like it was growing into something real. But suddenly, he stopped answering texts. The silence came back and once again, it was just me, my cat and the Atlanta Winter.
It was 2:30am when he knocked on the door. I curled up on the chair unable to sleep when the sharp sound startled me.
“It’s me.” The text lit up my phone. I wanted to text back something snarky, something that said how annoyed I was with him disappearing on me. But there was something about the morning silence that advised against it.
The bright light from the hall felt blinding as I opened the door. He looked at me, his locs in a bun on top of his head, a bottle of whiskey in his hand.
“Let’s go,” he said.
“Where?”
“You’ll see,” he answered.
I didn’t change. Walking through the hotel in a sports bra and some shorts felt strange, but at the same time it didn’t. His car was parked in front. The valet guys didn’t question or charge him, but I felt their eyes on me. I pulled my hair out of my bun to hide my face again, to avoid their boring eyes.
“Dis gyal can’t be serious,” I heard as the hotel doors opened again. Turning, I looked into the eyes of the waiter and burst out laughing, the sound echoing against the walls. It was a strange sound to hear early in the morning. He waved at me dismissively and I got in the car, thinking to myself that I really couldn’t be serious at all.
“What was that about,” Chris asked.
“Inside joke,” I said. He stared at me for a moment, then put the car in drive. Nassau at night was peaceful, atleast to the untrained eye. If you listened closely you’d hear sirens in the distant, the late night cruise ship pulling out of the dock, the honk from a driver upset at a pedestrian walking in the road or the steady thud of the night joggers. We passed Go Slow Bend and I stared out to sea. It had always been one of my favorite spots. There was something about the way it was beautiful but could be so deadly that attracted me to it time after time.
He pulled into Western Esplanade and rolled down the windows. He got out the car and I watched him, unsure of what he was doing. Pulling open the trunk I heard the sound of ice clink against a metal cup. When he came back, he passed me a cup that said Calvary Bible on it. I listened as the ice clinked against it, thinking back to memories I had of the place. It almost felt sacrilegious drinking whiskey from it. Then I thought of the way the youth leaders called me a whore. The way the people I called friends turned against me. The way church leaders told me I was ruining the men of the church. But by men they meant Chris.
“Do you not… drink whiskey anymore?”
“No, I do,” I said. “I’m just … thinking.”
“Of what?” he asked.
“Calvary Bible,” I answered.
“Oh,” his voice was light then, like he was tiptoeing into a room he knew he wasn’t supposed to be in.
We sat there in silence for a long while, staring at the ocean, the stars, anything but each other. The two cars in the lot left and then it was just us.
“You have a habit of ruining me,” I said. The whiskey had found a home in my veins, and I found strength in it.
“I- what?”
“At Calvary. You knew the power you had, and you let people say what they wanted. You made me the bad guy, and never once corrected your friends,”
“Im so-“ he started but I cut it.
“I’m not done,” I said. “You took so much from me and couldn’t stand up for me. Your parents don’t know me but all your girlfriends before and after me met them. Your best friend made my life a living hell. Then you disappeared. Not once, not twice, but three times. You promised me you wouldn’t leave this time.”
He was quiet then.
“You promised,” I whispered.
I chugged the rest of the whiskey then and got out the car, tossing the cup into the ocean. The waves pushed it against the sea wall and it clanged. Against the nights silence it was loud, echoing down the beach. I felt it in my bones, that echo. It felt like dragging nails down a chalkboard. So I screamed. I screamed against the waves crashing the shore. I screamed because I was in pain and I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Then I turned, tears in my eyes and sat down in the car.
We were quiet then. Everything was. The ocean went still. The light thud from Arawak Cay had stopped. The sound of the windows going up startled me. Then his hand was on my knee. I stared at it, not sure what to think. So the whiskey thought for me. I pulled myself over the passenger seat and sat in his lap. Pulling his cup out of his hand and placing it in the cup holder, I looked at him. I looked at the man I knew I loved but shouldn’t. Reaching over, I cracked the window slightly then put my hand against his heart.
“I don’t want you to feel the way I feel, it would ruin you” I said. “This pain, it would kill you.”
Pressing my lips against his, I didn’t let myself think, I just let it happen. It was the only way he could understand what I felt. This was the only way to express the anguish that had made a home in my heart. First kisses turned to last kisses. I was present in my skin but watching myself simultaneously. For a moment it seemed there was no end, just a means for us to explain the way the words we could no longer say. When we finished he was in tears. They fell down his face like a torrential rain. He reached to cup my face, but I pulled away, shifting back to the passenger seat.
He does not move. He lies where he has fallen, and I stare at the orange light creeping up along the horizon.
