little rich boy sirius who gets disowned and can barely survive without his expensive brands and the basic human need to eat at least once a day meeting the entirely too generous james potter who just falls for the vanity and sincerity of the reformed rich boy and decides that once sirius stops caring about brands and status and rich boy things and just cares about what matters in life he decides to spoil his boyfriend to pieces because he’s secretly sitting on a fucking fortune
#idk i just think it’s funny#like james would find sirius when he’s struggling with money because he’s so bad at saving and prioritising his spendings because he’s never#had too before and so james would teach him how to do all that stuff and emotionally support sirius through it all and sirius just falls in#love with this beautiful guy who’s just so generous and who teaches him so many things and finds value in kindness and sincerity and#compassion and all that jazz and james falls in love with sirius helplessly because he might be stuck up and vein and kind of selfish and#is stuck up and cares all too much about status but he’s trying so hard to be better and he finds empathy because sirius got kicked out for#the worst reasons because he’s always been the black sheep of his highly cultist christian family or whatver and he’s also outwardly queer#and james decides that he wants to give sirius everything and loves the way he looks in expensive makeup and designer faux fur coats and#heels and divine jewellery and all that jazz but makes sirius sell it all and learn what it means to be human and not rely on money and#status and brands and stuff and sirius learns what it’s like to be decent and in touch with humanity and only then does james take sirius on#a surprise luxury holiday for his birthday or something and then just buys him thousands of dollars worth of all these glamorous looking#things and sirius is like omg what the fuck jamie and then he just becomes sirius’ sugar daddy because he can’t help himself but they’re#also in love and much better people because of it and when sirius buys things now it’s not because of brands or because they have big price#tags like he used too. he now buys things with james’ credit card he keeps in his own wallet because he thinks he’ll feel pretty in them or#because he thinks james will loose it if he sees sirius walking around in it or if he sees a really cute toaster that sends him into a#frenzy that has him spending all way too much on an impromptu kitchen renovation but james doesn’t care because as long as his boyfriend is#happy and actually paying attention to the price of things and calculating the best value and taking james’ opinion as well and just being#happy and safe and accepted in his new home and family here with his jamie#please i think they’d be so cute ugh!!!#prongsfoot#bambibelle#drabble#fic idea#marauders#james potter#sirius black#jay talks

And maybe reader uses it more when she sleepy (that's usually when I speak french), so she's just sleepily gushing to sirius abt him and james and remus and HOW MUCH SHE FUCKING LOVES THEM AND HOW PERFECT THEY ARE AND SHIT??? Omfggg
Sincerely, :]
Omg yes, thanks for requesting my love!
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 719 words
“You’re all too nice to me,” you mumble as Sirius pulls your hair back into a loose bun, James washing your face with a moist cloth. “I love you guys. Not just for this, though. I love you in general.”
Sirius’ lips curve as he watches bemusement find its way into James’ expression. He wonders if your decision to make your lovey-dovey declarations in French was even a conscious one, or if you’ve just defaulted to it as you sometimes do when you’re this sleepy. He decides to answer you in it regardless. “I love you in general, too, my sweetheart. And we’re not even as nice as you deserve.”
“I don’t like it when they do this,” James says to Remus, even as he dries your face with a loving hand. “It’s exclusionary.”
“They don’t get it,” you lament to Sirius, catching his smirk in the mirror. “It’s so much nicer when you’re lazy. The words just flow.”
“I don’t know,” Remus answers James, spitting toothpaste into the sink. “It’s kind of hot.”
Sirius’ heartbeat picks up frighteningly quickly, but his grin is wicked as he leans his head on your shoulder. “Did you hear that, my love?” he asks, not bothering to whisper since no one but you can understand. “Remus Lupin thinks we’re hot.”
“Even when they say your name?” James asks, gesturing to Sirius as if to emphasize his point.
Remus gives Sirius a lingering look. It takes everything in him not to collapse onto the floor. Sirius looks down, breaking Remus’ stare, just to make sure he is indeed still wearing pants. “Especially then.”
“But they could be saying anything!”
“He’s so pretty,” you say breathily, gazing at Remus. His brows raise at your devoted attention, a twinkle of amusement lighting his amber eyes. Your gaze slides to James, looking at you with suspicion. “They both are.” You turn your eyes last to Sirius, and it’s a different look than the one he’d just received from Remus, but it melts him just the same. “You all are. And all so good, and funny, and smart. I can’t believe my luck.”
Sirius chuckles, pressing a kiss to the nape of your neck. “Me neither. Do you think they know?”
You hum, leaning back and letting him support some of your weight. He takes it happily. It’s going to be one of those nights where you’re asleep before the rest of them have even made it to bed, he can tell. “Not well enough.”
“Cease looking at me like that this instant,” James demands. “Moony, why do they look like they want to eat us?”
“Doesn’t sound like such an awful idea,” you say through a yawn, pulling out of Sirius’ arms to move towards the bed.
He follows you. “True,” he says, casting a charged look back at his boyfriends. “I could probably gnaw on a bicep, now that you mention it.”
“It’s kind of nice that not everyone can understand,” you observe drowsily as you slip under the covers. “Makes it easier to say what we mean.”
Sirius laughs. “Of course these are your darkest, most secret thoughts, you softie.” He sits down on the bed, brushing a strand of hair from your lovely face. “If you couldn’t understand me, I’d be saying much filthier stuff.” He cocks his head. “Actually, you don’t know what braquemard means, do you?”
Your eyebrows cinch, and there’s a gasp from the bathroom a moment before James comes barreling into the room.
“I heard something!” He exclaims. Sirius smirks up at him from his place on the bed. “That brack-whatever—it’s dirty, I think. I’ve heard him use it before.” You snicker into your pillow, and James looks at you in horror. “Angel, what’s he roped you into? Is he corrupting you while we can’t protect you?”
“Interesting,” Remus hums, moving slowly towards the bed. He approaches Sirius, nudging the other boy’s legs apart and fitting himself between them. Sirius’ heart pounds against his rib cage as Remus tilts his head up, fingers curled lightly around his jaw. “Gonna tell us what you’ve got to say, pretty boy?”
Sirius takes a shuddering inhale, static filling his head as Remus strokes idly at his face.
You make an amused harrumphing sound, and speak in English so everyone can hear. “Softie.”

hiii! could you please write a regulus black x potter! reader? maybe something like reg and reader secretly going out and getting discovered by James?
thank you!! have an amazing day 💗
his muse (pt. one)
Tumblr media
regulus black x reader
fluff / angst
cw: unedited as always 😌, a sex joke but it’s a titanic reference lol, marauders being overprotective, kissing, cuddling, someone may threaten to pull out someone’s teeth and put them on a necklace (it seemed like a very regulus threat), artist!regulus because 🥰
summary: you’re the honorary little sister of the infamous marauders; what happens when they catch you with a certain someone?
notes: hey love, thank you so much for the request!! just so you know, i don’t like to write readers to be related to another character, because i want my readers be able to relate to the ‘reader character’ without altering their preferred fancast for another one based on things like race or ethnicity. that is totally on me for not putting that in my request post and i will do that asap, but i hope you enjoy this anyway <33
more notes: i did get just a tad bit carried away and decided to divide this request into two parts, just to make it less overwhelming for me and y’all as well. anyways, enjoy <333
“oh reggie, paint me like one of your french girls,” you giggled, draping yourself dramatically across regulus’ pristine sheets.
he looked up from his sketchbook, brow furrowed in a way that made you want to kiss him until you both passed out from lack of oxygen.
god, you loved him.
“what?” he asked.
“nothing.”
evan and barty had both left the slytherin dorms, off to some place or another, giving you the perfect opportunity for some alone time with your lovely boyfriend. you’ve made sure to do this at least once a week since you started dating in your fourth year. now that you’ve reached sixth year, the tradition had only grown more cherished; precious were the moments spent with someone you’d been otherwise forbidden to see.
Tumblr media
“he’s dangerous, (y/n),” sirius insisted, only just finished with his dramatic act of fake vomiting. you had made the grave mistake of assuming your friend would have a normal reaction upon hearing who had asked you to the yule ball.
“a slytherin, (y/n), how could you?” james moaned, collapsing onto the auto-man like he was faint in the heart. “you have been my little sister all my life—”
“you met me when you were twelve and we are not related,” you corrected.
james feigned offense. “how dare you question our bond? blood does not matter! we are family and that is that, young lady.”
“leave her alone, the both of you,” remus laughed, throwing an arm over your shoulder and pulling you to his chest. “our little girl had to grow up someday.”
sirius looked appalled. “not with my bastard, slimy, death eater of a brother—”
“he’s not a death eater, we’re fourteen!” you exclaimed, pouting dramatically at the older boy. “just one dance, i promise padfoot, if it’s that weird to you, i’ll never see him again.”
Tumblr media
you lied.
sunlight peaked in through the curtains, the golden rays hitting regulus in such a way that made him look angelic. so focused on his sketchbook, glancing up every few moments to gaze at you like you were something to be revered.
you sat up in his bed, fiddling with the hem of his sweater that lay around your mid thighs; though you loved to, you rarely got the opportunity to wear reggie’s clothes, given sirius would recognize them in an instant. so, you took advantage of these moments whenever they came your way.
you loved wrapping yourself in the soft, strong, warm smell of him: minty cologne, sea salt, and pine trees. the scent was practically woven in the fabric, making everything feel so much softer, so much more him.
you did have a couple shirts and sweaters you’d stolen over the years, but they remained in your dorm at all times.
well, mostly.
it was a moment of stupidity. a dreary saturday morning, a hogsmeade trip, and you had slept in. naturally, you had to rush out of your dorm to get to breakfast in time; but, you didn’t need to change, did you?
why not wear the sweater you had slept in and save yourself a little time?
so, after changing into more appropriate pants, you made your way down the breakfast and sat in your regular spot; in between remus and james, and smack dab across from sirius.
he noticed his brothers favorite sweater the second you sat down.
Tumblr media
“what’s that?”
you’d barely sat down by the time sirius spoke and continued making your morning coffee as the group grew silent around you. finally looking up, you glanced between your friends in confusion.
“what’s what?”
you lifted your sleeve to rub your nose, breathing in quickly through your stuffed up sinuses; stupid fall allergies.
you froze as the familiar sent cooled your insides, eyes darting over to the slytherin table across the great hall.
oh.
that’s ‘what’s what’.
“who’s jumper is that, (y/n)?” james asked, arm draping over your shoulders to tug the sleeve on the other side. “doesn’t look like one of mine—”
“or mine,” sirius chimed.
“or mine,” peter chirped, though you hardly stole borrowed his sweaters anyways (too scratchy).
“it’s mine!”
you were surprised to hear remus’ leap to your defense, as you knew damn well the sweater wrapped around you wasn’t his— still, you weren’t about to question it.
“mhm,” you hummed, taking a sip of your coffee, hoping the boys didn’t notice your shaking hands. “i don’t know what all that third degree was about, but i stole this from moony a month ago.”
Tumblr media
“what’re you thinking about, lovely?”
regulus was suddenly just inches away from you, sketchbook tossed to the side, instead opting to look at his muse more close up.
“nothing,” you mumbled, smiling as he dipped down to kiss your collarbone, working his way up to your lips with featherlight kisses that made you wish you could stay with him forever.
though at this point, everything he did made you wish you could stay with him forever.
“you’re beautiful,” he whispered, eyes scanning every curve and point of your face like a work of art; his work of art, his muse.
he’ll never get tired of that word.
you breathed in deeply, the smell of him practically making you glow like some sort of protection charm; you’d never felt safer than you did with regulus near. you felt untouchable with him, like nothing could ever hurt you.
Tumblr media
“what are you doing here?”
lovely.
a grating voice to disrupt your already terrible day.
“hey,” severus called. “i’m talking to you.”
you spun around, glaring at the greasy haired boy across from you with as much contempt at you could muster. “piss off, severus!” you shouted; you’d never bit back like this before, but the shocked look on his face was worth it. “really, cornering a younger student in an empty hallway? pretty cowardly, don’t you think?”
before you could debate the consequences of your actions, severus’ hand was gripping your cloaks and you were shoved up against the wall.
“you filthy little—”
just as quick as snapes hands were on you, they’d been torn off, and you scrunched to the ground. regulus shoved him up to the wall opposite you.
“defending your little mudblood, huh?”
“shut your filthy mouth about her or i swear on merlins grave, i will rip every single one of your teeth out and put them on a necklace like a string of fucking pearls,” regulus bit, baring his teeth like an emphasis to the threat. “you got that?”
Tumblr media
that night, you ended up in a very similar position to where you were in now; wrapped up in your lovely boyfriends sweater, curled in his arms, and having sweet nothings whispered in your ear.
“y’know, i mean it when i say you are beautiful,” he muttered, pressing a kiss to your temple as he spoke, breath fanning over your face. it tickled, but you didn’t care; you just wanted to hear his voice. “breathtakingly gorgeous, inside and out.”
“really?” you teased, nuzzling your nose further into his chest, arms wrapped around his torso.
“really,” he laughed. “i could stay like this forever.”
you pouted, pulling yourself half on top of him. “but my daft friends just have to get in the way, don’t they?”
you hear a gasp from the doorway.
“did you just call us daft?”

Cherry Bomb (pt. 3)
Remus Lupin x f!reader, James Potter x f!reader (mentioned), Sirius Black x f!reader (mentioned)
Tumblr media
warnings: smut, p in v, i think it’s protected atp idk, fingering, underage smoking, very dom remus, long af but omg i’m so in love with it
summary: the last part of your plan is far harder to achieve than the first two and it’s far more complicated.
word count: 5k
a/n: ahhh here’s the last part (i think?) anyway sorry it’s long i got carried away but ugh i love remus so much. sorry if my characterization is off, ever since atyd i see him as sarcastic. yeah i love this, hope you guys do too :)
~~~
Out of all the marauders, Remus Lupin was by far the most liked. He was quiet, but not invisible. He was the most sensible out of all the boys and the most polite. Though he did tend to be witty and sarcastic, he was kind at heart. But he was also the hardest one to get close to. Quiet, reserved, beautiful Remus with his nose always stuck in a book. There was always something about him that made girls fall fast. But that was the thing. It was always so easy to fall in love with him. So, if one ever wanted to shag Remus Lupin, they would have to deal with the consequences of loving him. Because he was nothing like his mates. He didn’t shag just anyone. No. He had to choose you. And to be chosen by him was the biggest accomplishment and the biggest curse. Because once you get him, you will never want to let him go.
~~~
Avoiding two of the marauders is nearly impossible. Each corner you turn it seems you run into one of them, or both. And each time their eyes find you they show the same expressions. Confusion. Frustration. Perhaps even a bit of sadness. You debate throwing away the entire plan daily. It’s unfair, the way you’re playing with their minds. But the lingering knowledge that you’re so close to completing the plan entirely keeps you going. Because surely, all your hurt feelings can’t be for nothing.
Right?
You speak to James only once after your shag in the broom closet. It’s a week or two after, he’s been chasing you around, and you’ve been avoiding him. But you decide he deserves some amount of closure. Sweet, lovely, innocent James. You find him alone in the library and take your opportunity. The way he smiles when he sees you approaching makes your heart ache terribly and regret fills your stomach.
“Y/n I’ve been trying to catch you, how are you?” He asks once you’re close enough to hear his quiet tone.
He looks so happy, you feel sick.
“Yeah, I just you know… haven’t been feeling too great,” you lie.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Sit if you’d like, I’ve been attempting to study for the potions test. Aren’t you good with potions? Could you help me possibly?”
You inhale deeply. You could really use a cigarette right now. You’ve broken things off with guys before, but this feels different. In the other cases, you’ve had reasons. For this case though, you have none. James is innocent in all of this. It makes you nauseous.
“Listen, James,” you start, your voice soft. “What happened was great, I enjoyed it a lot, but it was a mistake. I like you, you’re very sweet, but I don’t think we should do anything else.”
Watching his face fall is by far the most horrid sight you’ve ever seen. All the happiness fades fast and leaves behind a bitter frown. He looks down at his papers, toying with his quill.
“I see…” He looks back up, a fake smile on his lips. “That’s alright, it was fun. I’m not really looking for anything serious like that either, so I understand.”
You swallow hard. “I really do like you James, believe me, but it’s just not the right time for this.”
“Don’t worry about it, it’s fine.”
“And...” You pause for a second. “You won’t tell anyone?”
He nods. “Not a soul. This will be our little secret.”
“Thank you.”
“Of course.”
“Well then, I’ll let you get back to your potions. Thanks for... everything.” You give him one last smile before turning on your heels and making your way out of the library.
You almost put an end to it right then and there, but then you see the tallest marauder walking down the hall with Peter. His hands are in his pockets, his book bag slung over one of his shoulders. For a split second his eyes meet yours as the two of you pass each other.
He gives you a small awkward smile.
Fuck.
~~~
To catch Remus Lupin alone you must take the risk of losing your house some points. You wait a week before making your move, for safety. After your conversation with James, the only marauder to pay attention to you is Sirius. He’s still set on telling everyone that the two of you shagged, but thankfully, not many people believe him. Not even his best mates.
It’s a very quiet night when you sneak out after curfew. A night you know one particular prefect is doing rounds on his own. You wander through the castle quietly, making sure to avoid the areas in which teachers lurk. Goosebumps form on your skin, you should’ve worn more than a tee-shirt and sweatpants, but you needed to look casual.
As you’re about to turn a corner, you spot Filch. Panic surfaces inside you and you quickly turn around and run as quietly as you can down the hall. You take a few turns and just as you’re about to relax, you hear a voice.
“It’s past curfew, what are you doing out here?”
Your heart stops for a completely different reason.
It’s him.
You turn to face him and shyly smile. You watch his face change as he recognizes you.
“Oh, it’s you.” He narrows his eyes. “Off to shag my mate again, are you?”
“I never shagged him,” you reply, crossing your arms over your chest. “And I’m out for a completely different reason.”
“What reason is that?”
You shrug. “Personal reason.”
“Ah well, hope it was worth losing your dear Ravenclaws ten points. Get back to your dorm before someone else catches you,” he says, turning away from you.
You watch as he walks down the hall, not giving you another thought. You would’ve replied sarcastically if you could speak for that matter. Once he disappears, all you can do is shamefully make your way back to your house's common room, now understanding why James likes being a chaser.
~~~
Some time passes before you get Remus alone. Each time you see him during the day, he’s accompanied by one of the marauders and you can’t sneak out during his rounds again because your fellow Ravenclaws were not pleased. You’re smoking behind the castle when you happen to finally catch him walking alone. You immediately take your chance.
“Lupin!” You call out to him. You get up from the bench you were sitting on and walk to him.
Thankfully, he stops walking and turns back to face you. “Y/l/n. Is there something I can help you with?”
You can tell from the tone of his voice he’s trying to be polite; it makes your insides warm.
“Yeah, actually there is. I was wondering if you could help me with my transfiguration essay. You’re the smartest lad in the year,” you answer, taking a small puff of your cigarette. You hold it up to offer him a hit, he shakes his head.
“Those things will kill you,” he says. “But I suppose I can help a bit. I assume you’re free right now?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Let me take a look.”
A smirk forms on your lips, and you let out a breath of smoke purposely into his face. “Take a girl to dinner first.”
He swats the air, fanning away the smoke. “Are you going to show me or not? I have things to take care of.”
“Sorry.” You hate the way your face burns. “Come see.”
The two of you make your way to the bench and you take out your essay. Truthfully, you are already finished with it, and you think your work is good. But much to your dismay, only a few seconds after he starts reading it, Remus takes out a muggle pen and begins crossing things off.
“What’s wrong?”
“Your spelling is shit, and you’ve contradicted your argument at least twice already and I’m only on the second paragraph,” he answers, his eyes glued to the paper. “Maybe if you spent more time studying than shagging and smoking, you’d have this information down. We reviewed it a few weeks ago.”
You scoff. “I have not been shagging.”
“Sure,” he mumbles, crossing off another sentence.
“I swear, Sirius is mistaken.” You lie.
He turns his head, his green eyes meeting yours. “Who said I was referring to Sirius?”
Your breath catches in your throat, and you cough due to the smoke. Is he talking about James? Your heart rate increases, and anxiety flows throughout your body. Did James tell? You catch your breath, your eyes meeting his again. He looks unamused.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t shagged anyone in months, not that it’s your business,” you say.
“You should really practice more on your lying; you are shit at it.” He hands your essay back to you and stands. “I left a few notes of some things you should change, but my biggest suggestion is that you reread the textbook, and perhaps find some more... enticing quotes. Is that all then? Like I said, I’ve got some other business to tend to.”
For a few seconds, all you can do is stare up at him, your mouth hung open ever so slightly. You previously thought Remus Lupin to be a timid boy who went along with the rest of the marauders because he couldn’t say no. Now though, you realize all those assumptions are wrong. He’s quiet, but not timid.
“What do you know?” You question.
“Quite a lot, thanks for the chat.”
Before you can even think of a response, he’s already walking away. You can’t let him slip away again.
“I’ll get it out of you Remus Lupin if it’s the last thing I do!”
He turns his head over his shoulder and chuckles, the sound sending warmth straight to your core. “We’ll see.”
And just like that, he’s gone, and you’re left flustered with rosy cheeks.
You did save the best for last.
~~~
Falling for the third marauder is easier than anything. Almost unconsciously, you begin to fail classes so that he can help you with work, you learn his route around the castle to see him at least once a day, and you sneak around the castle some nights, but he always ends up finding you somehow.
One night, a little over a month after you’ve started your game, something unexpected happens. You’re out after curfew once again, tiptoeing around the castle to see where the tallest prefect is when he appears from behind you. Like usual, he crosses his arms and clears his throat, making you quickly spin on your heels to face him. How does he always sneak up on you?
“How many times am I going to catch you before you start following the rules? I’m sure your fellow Ravenclaws aren’t too pleased with you,” he says. You look up at him, a genuine blush on your face. He narrows his eyes. “You want me to catch you, don’t you?”
“What?”
“You heard me.”
You look away nervously. The plan never involved gaining real feelings for any of the marauders, yet here you were. Standing in your sleepwear after curfew with your heart racing in your chest at the mere sight of one of them. Though you try to deny it, you know deep down you’re crushing hard, and you know it will only end badly.
“I uh... I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m just on a little stroll back from a smoke that’s all,” you reply after a few seconds, your hands anxiously fiddling with one another.
He rolls his eyes. “Listen, I don’t know what your objective is or has been, but whatever it is it’s not going to happen.”
“Remus I-”
“Sirius, I understand, he would sleep with the giant squid if it had tits. But James, really? He may be more of an... active person than myself but he has far more feelings than you think.” He takes a step forward; he towers over you. You swear you can’t breathe. “You may have fooled them, but you don’t fool me. I can see right through you y/l/n and you’re sick.”
You move backward; he follows each step. “You... you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t I?”
Your back hits a wall, panic rises in you. Your eyes fall to his hands, and a bit of relief washes over you when you see he’s not holding his wand. But then another thought takes over. Is he going to hit you? When you look back up, he’s only inches away from you, his hazel eyes piercing down into yours. He places one of his hands on the wall next to your head. You can hear your heartbeat in your ears.
“I didn’t mean to cause any trouble, really. I’m sorry,” you mumble, your words genuine.
“So, what was your goal then? To shag all of us and take your pick of who’s best? Peter would’ve been far easier than James you know,” he replies.
“It was just a stupid idea, I don’t know. It didn’t mean anything deeper I swear.” You’re rambling now, the threat of tears evident in the burning of your eyes. You try your hardest to keep any from falling, you can’t cry in front of Remus.
He sighs. “You’re lucky Sirius is oblivious, and James is trusting. If they knew the truth, you’d have the whole school against you.”
“Wait, they don’t know?”
He rolls his eyes again. “Of course not. If they knew you’d be getting hexed almost all day every day.”
“Then how do you know?”
“I notice a lot more than people think. Did you honestly think no one saw you go up to our dorm with Sirius that night at the party? And did you honestly think none of us would notice James’s change in attitude? You think you know more than you actually do,” he explains.
For a few seconds, the two of you only stare at each other. You don’t know what to think. You should’ve known this would happen. Someone was going to catch on. You wish you had never done it. Any of it. Everything would be so much simpler if you’d simply stayed the quiet Ravenclaw girl who never interacted with the marauders. But you can’t go back, no matter how much you wish you could. You can only make it right moving forward.
“I’m sorry, truly Remus.” There’s so much more you want to say, but you can’t. You can’t fathom the words.
“If you’re truly sorry, stop. I won’t be the next pawn in your game,” he says, his voice slightly lower than before. You watch the way his eyes shift, the way he licks his lips, and moves his head down so he’s almost eye level with you. Your breath catches in your throat. “I suppose I pity you though because you and I both know this has become more than a game to you now.”
You turn your head, but he grabs your chin and forces you to look him in the eye.
“You fancy me.”
“I-”
“Don’t try to deny it. Like I said, I can see right through you.”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s over now,” you whisper, a tear nearly escaping one of your eyes.
He inhales deeply and you notice his eyes trail over your body for a moment before meeting your gaze again. “You’re right. It is over now.”
He lets go of you and backs away and for the first time since encountering him tonight, you feel like you can breathe normally. You stay on the wall, silently catching your breath as he walks further down the hall. But just before he’s about to turn a corner, he looks back at you.
“Or perhaps it’s simply my turn to play with you. Oh, and that’s twenty points from Ravenclaw. Goodnight.”
You fall asleep with his words burning in the back of your mind, and an ache between your thighs.
~~~
After that night, everything is different. You try to avoid them all and go back to the way things were before, you really do. You scribble out the page in your journal with their names, you keep your head down in the halls, and you skip the parties they host. It’s Remus who’s begun playing. Somehow, he continues knowing where you are and appears at random times. Whether you’re studying in the library, and he just so happens to need a book from that section, or you’re out by the lake with your friends and he walks by. You know it’s intentional, but it still manages to leave you hot and bothered each time.
“I thought you said the plan was off?” Your friend says one particular day when the two of you are eating lunch.
You look at her, confused. “It is.”
“Then why has Lupin been staring at you this whole meal?”
Instinctively, you look across the Great Hall and immediately catch those all-too-familiar hazel eyes. He doesn’t look away, at least, not for a moment. He stares at you with no shame, and even from the distance you can sense something different from the look in his eyes. Before you can fully figure it out though, he turns his attention back to the other three marauders.
“Did you shag him?” Your friend asks.
“No, I told you what happened,” you answer, focusing your attention back on the food on your plate. “I wish he’d stop.”
Your friend laughs. “Nah, you don’t.”
You hate how she’s right.
~~~
Nearly two months have passed when you finally confront Remus.
You’re sitting in the astronomy tower, a cigarette between your lips, and a scowl on your face. You can’t take it any longer. Wasn’t he the one who told you off? Wasn’t he the one who told you to stop the games? He was. You know it. So, why has he kept it going? He had said that it was his turn, but that was many weeks ago. How long did he plan to keep this going? You let out a cloud of smoke, frustration taking over your body at the thoughts.
“How many points shall I take off tonight? Forty? Fifty?” You feel him sit next to you, but you refuse to look at him. “You haven’t been out after dark in a while though, I’ll give you that.”
“What do you want Lupin?” You ask, annoyed.
He chuckles. “What do any of us want really?”
You look at him with a straight face, hating the way butterflies take over your stomach at the sight of him so close to you. Despite the scars on his face, you find him more beautiful than any boy. More than James, even more than Sirius. There is something so extraordinary about Remus you can’t explain. You wish it would go away.
“Why can’t you leave me alone?” You question after taking another drag from the cigarette.
“I haven’t spoken to you in over a month, I don’t know what-”
“Yes, you know what I mean.” You cut him off. You exhale your last breath of smoke and throw the cigarette off the tower. “I’m trying to leave this all in the past and move on like you said but you’ve made it quite difficult.”
“Seems you don’t like the taste of your medicine love. It’s hard, isn’t it? Trying to avoid someone when they always seem to end up exactly where you are. It gets rather annoying, doesn’t it? Especially when you secretly enjoy it,” he replies.
Your eyes meet again and that familiar trouble to breathe begins. He’s looking at you in a way you don’t know how to feel about. It’s not like Sirius’s drunken stare or James’s needy stare. No. This one, though the same lustful, is far deeper.
“Just tell me what you want Remus,” you eventually say, your voice lower than before. “What do you want?”
“I want you to get out of my head. I want to look at you and feel nothing. I want everything to go back to how it was before you decided to fuck with my friends and me,” he answers.
You swear your heart stops for a few beats. “Then let all of that happen.”
“You think I haven’t tried?”
You stay silent.
“I never wanted this, any of it.”
You look down. “I know.”
“Don’t do that.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Merlin, I give up, you win y/n. You bloody win.”
You’re about to ask what he exactly means, but he acts faster. In the blink of an eye, his lips are on yours. You can’t grasp it at first. You’re kissing Remus Lupin; Remus Lupin is kissing you. The boy who unintentionally caught your heart is kissing you. It’s unbelievable, it’s undeniable, and it’s far from underrated. You don’t hesitate to kiss him back, even through your initial shock.
His hands cup your cheeks, his thumbs stroke your skin ever so gently. You wrap your arms around his neck, one of your hands toying with the hair on the back of his head. He’s a good kisser, very good. That’s why when he parts your lips, you protest.
“Why did you-”
“If we’re going to do this, you have to promise me it’s not a game anymore y/n.”
Your head is fuzzy from how intently he’s looking at you. “I promise Remus, that game has been over for a while.”
“You swear it?”
“I do. Do you?”
“Of course.” There are a few seconds of silence before he sighs, one of his fingers now playing with a piece of your hair. “We have to keep it secret.”
“I know,” you say.
He brushes the piece of hair behind your ear, the intimate gesture sending tingles throughout your body. “I don’t want it to be a quick shag either,” he adds.
“What do you want it to be then?”
The smile he gives you makes your stomach flip. “More.”
~~~
More from Remus Lupin is everything.
After that night, the two of you begin something you don’t exactly know how to name. You would call it a secret relationship, but the thought of that gives you a stomachache. The two of you don’t interact during the day, at least not where anyone else can see. He passes you in the hall as if you’re a stranger, but the second he catches you around a corner in an empty hallway he showers you with affection. And at night when the two of you sneak off, he touches you in ways you never thought possible.
He shows you so many new places in the castle you never knew of. Secret passages, secret rooms, all of it. You never question how he knows all of it, you only hold his hand tighter as he guides you. When he suggests a more secluded place to meet, you of course agree. Though, you never expect that place to be the shrieking shack.
“There’s no way you’re serious,” you say. The two of you are outside, near the Whomping Willow. You make sure to stay out of its reach. “The shrieking shack? That place is haunted, the ghosts don’t even go there because of how scary it is.”
“Obviously I’m not Sirius love, you only shagged him once,” he sarcastically replies, rolling his eyes to emphasize his joke.
“Remus.”
“The shrieking shack is not haunted, believe me, that’s only a silly rumor made so that people won’t go to it. Me, James, Sirius, and Peter go all the time. It has a bed, and given our activities I say we utilize that,” he explains.
You bite your lip. “Are you positive?”
He moves a bit closer to you and places a hand on your shoulder, leaning down so he’s at eye level with you. “You know I would never let anything hurt you, you can trust me.”
“Alright, but how are we supposed to get there so late? It’s in Hogsmeade,” you question.
He chuckles. “Haven’t you learned by now the marauders have many secret ways?”
“Yes, but we’re not in the castle right now how are we to- Remus don’t go any closer you’re going to get hurt you-” You pause, your mouth hung open as you watch the whomping willow go completely still. “How did you...”
“Secrets love, now come, it’s getting late,” he says, holding a hand out to you.
You don’t hesitate to take his hand and follow him into the tree, nothing else is said.
Surprisingly, the walk isn’t too long. It’s dark, gloomy, and a bit cold, but it’s not terrible. At the end of the tunnel, there’s a door. Something in Remus’s posture shifts, almost as if he’s anxious. You squeeze his hand to try to reassure him of whatever he needs, he gives you a smile through the dark that makes your cheeks warm.
The shrieking shack isn’t big, not at all. It’s a simple building with a few rooms and a short staircase. Remus brings the two of you to what you presume is the bedroom though the only indicator is a mattress, blanket, and pillow on the floor. There’s a small fireplace in the room as well, shockingly full of wood and some candles placed near the mattress. The entire shack is creaky and dusty, but you don’t mind. As long as there’s no ghosts, it’s perfect. Remus lets go of your hand and moves to start a fire. You sit down on the mattress and light the candles around.
“What do you guys use this place for?” You ask.
“It’s just a place we come to sometimes when we don’t want to be around other people,” he answers. His back is still turned to you, you could stare at it all day. “Sirius was the first one to discover it wasn’t haunted.”
“Oh? How did he find that out?”
“He’s always been the bravest out of us, though I think he just wanted another rule to break.”
You chuckle. “That sounds like him.”
He finally stands and turns to face you, a bright fire burning behind him. “You would know, you shagged him.”
“Oh, shut up,” you say as you slide off your shoes.
He begins to walk to you. “Can I ask you a question?”
“This context doesn’t seem good, but yes you can,” you reply.
“Be completely honest, out of the three of us, who’s the best?”
He’s standing right in front of you now. You look up at him, a coy smile on your lips, and begin to untie his shoelaces. “You are of course.”
“For some reason, I think your answer is biased,” he says with a laugh.
You trail your hands up his legs after he steps out of his sneakers, stopping once you reach his belt buckle. It quickly gets undone. “What would make you say that?”
He laughs again. “Just a hunch I guess.”
Your moment of control is taken fast when he pushes you down on the mattress, his lips attacking yours. It isn’t a lie though; he is the best. Unlike with Sirius and James, you share such deeper feelings for Remus. Each time he touches you, you practically melt into the palm of his hand. He’s caring. He’s gentle, but rough when need be. Though the two of you argue sometimes, it always is resolved with a hug, a kiss, or a shag. So, in the simplest of words, Remus Lupin is the perfect boy in every way.
All your clothes are discarded quickly, his too. He kisses you deeply as he uses his fingers on you. Sometimes you wonder where he’s learned all his skills from, but even thinking about him with another girl has started to make your stomach hurt. Instead, you focus on how good two of his fingers feel inside you. They’re so long, so slender. More than once in class you’ve been completely distracted by the sight of his hands, specifically his fingers, even more specifically when he’s wearing rings on them. They feel just as you imagine, extraordinary.
When you cum, you’re moaning a mess into his mouth, your body shaking. He milks every last bit of your orgasm out of you before stopping. You watch through heavy lids as he sucks his fingers clean of your cum, the sight makes you audibly groan.
“I need you,” you whisper, running one of your hands through his hair.
“Do you?” There’s something in the tone of his voice mixed with the way he’s looking at you that makes your heart ache in your chest.
You nod. “In so many ways Rem.”
“Promise?”
“Always.”
He moves inside you slowly at first, but he finds a decent pace after a few minutes. Because of his height, you weren’t at all surprised at the size of his cock. It’s by far the biggest you’ve ever encountered and the best. Though sometimes it leaves you sore, it always leaves you in a daze of dopamine.
Remus struggles to keep his head at your level as he fucks you. He presses soft kisses to your forehead, one of his hands intertwined with yours. You’ve never felt such intimacy in your life, it almost makes tears form in your eyes.
“Tell me you’re mine,” he says, his voice shaky. “Even if it’s not true.”
“I’m yours, Rem, completely,” you reply. His hips meet yours harder, and you moan. “All yours I’m all yours.”
Neither of you lasts much longer than that.
In the aftermath as the two of you hold each other, he rests his head on your chest. You run your fingers through his hair softly, the sound of his breathing like music to your ears. It’s at this moment you realize just how deeply you care for him. You hate what you did with that silly plan, but you don’t think you’d change it. If ending up in this moment only came from the plan, you’d do it over a million times.
“Is this real?” Remus asks after some time.
You sigh and press a kiss to the top of his head. “Yes. This is real.”
And so, it is.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<3
He was supposed to be happy.
The redhead in front of him was all he could think about for so many years.
And she’d finally, finally decided to give him a chance.
So then why did he feel so terrified?
Maybe it was because of the way that you were looking at him. As if he was your entire world and it had just come crashing down. You noticed him staring and gave him a proud smile, and a double thumbs up.
But eyes don’t lie.
Lily was standing there right in front of him, ready to call him hers, after years of constant pining. And yet all he could think about was the way Sirius’s arms wrapped around your shoulders, and the dejected look in your eyes.
He expected the heavy weight to blow over by dinner.
But it didn't.
He sat there, watching you laugh with the others, like your normal self. He knew you wouldn’t show any emotions that you were feeling, and that made him feel worse. He wishes you’d just slap him instead of acting like whatever happened didn’t affect you in the slightest.
He knew.
He knew what you felt for him, and he’d be lying if he said that there wasn’t a part of him that felt the same.
But he’d always love Lily more.
And you were his best friend. The fear of messing things up with you at some point and then losing you, terrified him.
However, something told him that he’d lost you already.
He couldn’t sleep at night.
He stayed up,  constantly thinking about you and your expression that day.
And the haunting fear stayed.
He felt like he was drowning and usually he’d go to you. But he couldn’t. Not this time. Not when you were probably in the same situation, a little farther down, struggling to swim up with your own weight tied to your feet.
He lay there, counting the hours, until he decided he couldn’t anymore, and walked down to the common room.
And he instantly wished he hadn’t.
You were sitting there, a blank look on your face as you stared off into nothingness.
He felt you slipping away from his fingers then. Because at times like this, he’d be the first you called.
But of course, he’d never been the reason for this before.
He stood, frozen, unsure what to do, and maybe he should’ve decided sooner, because you seemed to realize you weren’t alone, and turned to face him.
“Hey James.” You’re surprised, he can tell, but he doesn’t move, still scared to make any decision. The last time he had to make a tough choice is what led to this in the first place, and now he was too scared to move.
You pat the seat next you, and he thinks that maybe it’s the right thing to do. Maybe this will fix everything. Maybe you’re not as affected by it as he thought.
But as he sits down, he knows he’s wrong.
Terribly, terribly wrong.
You’re wearing Sirius’s oversized sweater.
He gave it to you because he didn’t like how loose it was, and you’d started wearing it when you were in a bad mood. You said that it provided comfort to you, and that whenever you wrapped your arms around yourself, the extra cloth would bunch up, making you feel like you were being hugged.
The second he saw it, James’s resolve broke.
The tears flowed freely, a sob wracking his body.
He felt so stupid for crying when clearly you were hurting more.
You didn’t react immediately, watching him as he continued to sob into his hands. And James thought that it was for the best. He didn’t want you to comfort him. He wanted you to cry as well, cursing him for ever deciding to choose Lily over you.
But of course, you’d never do that.
You wrapped your arms around his body, resting your cheek against his shoulder.
“It’s okay,” you whispered.
“No, no it’s not,” James replied, still crying. Why wouldn’t you just yell at him? Why couldn’t you call him out for how unfair he was being?
You shush him, gently rubbing his hand.
“This is it isn’t it? I-I’m gonna lose you,” He muttered, and he felt you freeze. He was right. Of course he was. Who would stay with him after what he’d just done?
But you didn’t let go.
You pulled him towards you, so that his head was resting on your chest, arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“You’re not gonna lose me Jamie. At least, not forever,” you mutter, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
He didn’t know what you meant. But it only made the pain in his chest double. Usually being your arms released the building pressure, but this time, it only amplified.
He couldn’t even imagine how you felt.
“Please yell at me. Curse me, do something but please please don’t sit here and hug me after everything I’ve done,” he voice was pleading. He needed you to do that so that he didn’t have to see you upset tomorrow. Or watch you laugh, knowing the truth of how much this had affected you.
But your arms only tightened around him.
“No,” You whisper, your voice shaky.
You’re crying.
“I get it. She’s the love of your life. I’m not mad. I’m not upset,” you pause, your hands gently rubbing his back, “not upset with you at least,” you mutter.
James knows what you mean. You’d always compared yourself with Lily. She was the only person who you deemed worthy enough to be your competition, for many things. You two were friends and you’d never let that get compromised. Not even now. But you’d always felt insecure when it came to her.
And James had only fueled it.
He couldn’t tell you to not compare yourself with her, after he’d literally chosen her over you.
But you were both different people and he wanted you to know that.
He pulled away, looking at your tear stained face. “Please don’t compare yourself,” he muttered. Ashamed that he was even in a situation like this in the first place.
You smiled sadly, sniffling, “Kinda hard not to. It’s okay. I just need…time,” you say nodding your head.
You took your hands in his, and internally, James begged for another try. He wanted a chance to go back in time, to fix things.
But he knew that would be wrong.
Because it was the truth. He loved Lily more. He always had, and he always would.
Yet the crushing feeling of losing you overpowered that love right now.
“I’m gonna need time,” you avoided his gaze, looking down at your intertwined hands, tears falling onto them.
“What do you mean?” he asked, knowing full well what you were going to say next, and it crushed him.
“I need some time away from you. You’re not losing me but-” Your voice cracked and you trailed off, unable to finish your sentence.
It hurt way more hearing you say it.
His grip on your hands tightened. “No. No please. For how long? I need you.”
You let out a small laugh, and for the first time since James had met you, he felt the bitter touch. “That’s not fair James,” you said, shaking your head. “I’ll come back, just give me some time.”
You were slipping away. Fast.
And there was nothing he could do about it.
“You’re gonna be okay,” you whispered, running your thumb over his knuckles. “You’re gonna be okay. You don’t need me. You have Lily, you have the boys and if something really bad happens I’m always right here. I just…I just need some time,” you muttered, looking at him.
James felt like he was being torn apart. He watched your hurt eyes, contradicting the soft smile on your face. He didn’t want to hurt you. He never had. But he couldn’t deny his strong feelings for the redhead. He knew you’d only be even more hurt if he’d chosen you while loving the other girl more.
“I’m so sorry,” he whispered, sniffling, as the tears continued to fall.
“I know James. It’s okay,” you mutter.
You pat his hands before pulling away, bending over to press your lips against his forehead.
You stay like that for a moment and James feels like dying.
You always care so much. No matter how much someone hurts you, you always care. You shouldn’t be comforting him right now. Not when you’re probably hurting more.
“You’re gonna be okay,” you say once more as you move away, standing up.
Then you’re walking away from him and up to the dorms and with each step James feels you slip away.
Until he can no longer see you, and he knows you’re gone.
Maybe not permanently. But you both will never be the same again. Because you’ll no longer look at him like he’s the most amazing person you’ve ever met. And he’ll never be able to forgive himself for hurting you like this.
But you’re gone now and all he can do is pray that you’ll come back.
Nicknames
“Can you pass me that book?” Regulus points to the text sitting next to James.
“Are we going to do anything more interesting today?” James’ voice is bordering on whiney as he passes it across the table.
“I told you I was studying. You were the one that decided to grace me with your ever annoying presence.” He opens the book and starts flipping through the pages.
“You know you love it,” James’ teasing tone isn’t at all subtle.
They’ve been playing this game for months now. The game where James flirts overtly and Regulus pretends that he doesn’t flirt back. Where they find excuses to spend time together. Where Regulus lets James interrupt his study session when it’s very clear he has no intention of letting him actually study.
“Come on!” There’s no reply from the younger boy who would look entirely indifferent if it wasn’t for the small crease between his brows that indicates that he’s not doing a very good job at blocking James out. “Reggie.”
He looks up then, eyebrows now knitted into a thick line. “No.”
A smirk. “What?”
“You are not calling me Reggie.”
“Why? Sirius does.”
“Sirius is my brother and incredibly annoying.”
James’ smirk turns into a grin. “Oh so you don’t find me annoying then?”
“I told you I did less than thirty seconds ago.”
“You’re such a bad liar.”
Regulus rolls his eyes in the way that makes James’ stomach do a little flip and goes back to ‘ignoring’ him.
James is silent for approximately five seconds. “You can give me a nickname if you’d like.”
“I’m good, thanks.”
“Seriously, you can call me whatever you want.”
“Noted.”
“You can even call me tonight if you like.”
That stops him. It also makes him look up and meet James’ eyes. “Really, Potter?”
James raises his eyebrows, smiling again. “Didn’t like that one?”
“You’re a walking, cliche.”
James laughs. “So is that a no to the nickname then?”
A pause. “I’ll think about it.”
—
A week later and James walks into the Slytherin common room.
“Potter, to what do we owe this honour?” Barty asks, not even bothering to get up from where’s he’s laying across Evan’s lap on one of the sofas, spinning his wand between his fingers.
Pandora is reading cross legged in an armchair and looks up with a warm smile that contrasts her brother’s suspicious one.
“Hi guys. Have you seen Regulus?”
“Let him out of your sight for once, huh?” Evan asks with raised eyebrows.
“Yes. Well, no- I mean. He’s not always-“
“Eloquent as ever, I see,” Barty laughs and Pandora shushes him.
“Oh stop it you two,” she looks at James, “he’s upstairs. Sometimes he needs to escape from these idiots.”
She shushes them again as they start to argue and they settle back down with a grumble.
James nods. “Right, well do you think he’d mind if I drop something to him? I accidentally took his quill from the library the other day and I’m not sure I want to find out what happens if he thinks I stole it.”
Evan shrugs. “He’s your boyfriend, Potter. Do what you want.”
Everything stops.
James can hear his heart beating in his ears.
Pandora’s smile has dropped. “Are you okay James?”
James takes a deep breath and nods his head, blinking so the room starts moving again. “Yep, all good. I’ll go deliver this quill to my… boyfriend.”
The word comes out slowly as James gauges their reactions, waiting for one of them to laugh at him, to laugh at their joke.
Instead they stare at him. “Okay…” Evan says eventually.
James doesn’t remember walking through the common room or up the stairs. He doesn’t remember knocking on Regulus’ door or opening it to find him sitting cross legged on his bed, book opened in his lap and beautiful eyes wide in surprise at the sudden intrusion. He doesn’t remember anything before the words that fall out of his mouth.
“Why did Evan just call me your boyfriend?”
Recognition appears in his eyes, then and his mouth curls up into a knowing smile. “You told me I could call you anything.”
“I was talking about a nickname, Regulus.”
“And?”
James has to stop himself from looking at the camera that’s surely filming him right now. This can’t be an actual conversation he’s having, surely?
“Boyfriend is not a nickname. It’s a thing.”  He moves closer to Regulus’ bed as he talks, his words faster than usual. “It’s something a person is, it’s… romantic.”
Regulus blinks before putting down his book and getting up off his bed so they’re standing across from each other. “Thank you for defining the word boyfriend, Potter. And for the clarification.” His tone is definitely sarcastic but James has no idea how to respond.
“You’re welcome,” is what comes out. James kicks himself for it.
“So are you saying you don't want me to call you that any more?” Regulus’ facial expression seems neutral but there’s a hint of something else there.
“No,” the word escapes before he even realises he’s said it. “I mean yes. I mean-“ he stops and takes a breath before meeting Regulus’ eyes. They’re softer than usual. “Are you sure?”
Regulus hums before he smiles and takes a step forward, reaching out to place his hand on James’ cheek and momentarily causing him to stop breathing. “It suits you, you know? Your new nickname, I mean.”
James lets out a noise that sounds startlingly close to impatience before he finds himself leaning in, and then Regulus’ lips are on his and his hands are in his hair and he forgets any name he’s ever had for a second, a minute, an hour, an indeterminate amount of time before they pull apart again.
He’s smiling now as his heart beats quickly in his chest, and as the younger boy smiles right back James only has one question:
“So can I call you Reggie now?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Oh,” James pouts and Regulus rolls his eyes before reaching down to take his hand, lacing their fingers together.
“I guess you’ll just have to settle for boyfriend.”
James’ eyes move from their hands to Regulus’ face. “Oh.” His voice is softer now, light. “I think I can make that work.”
Poly! Jegulus x gn! Reader - When there is no logic, look deeper
A/n: I decided to go with a different analogy for James's and Regulus's relation than I normally do (and what everyone else normally does.) So have fun with this little drabble!
Summary: Your relationship with James and Regulus through Remus's perspective.
Warnings: Swearing, brief mentions of child abuse, brief mentions of mental health issues (if you squint,) I think that's it? You have been warned!
The Three P's:
[Pronouns used: you/your] [Pov: 2nd person] [Pairings: (romantic!) (poly!) jegulus x reader, (romantic!) wolfstar, (platonic!) marauders]
I do NOT support J. K. Rowling, or any transphobic/homophobic things she says (or anything she says really), or TERFS!
Tumblr media
Regulus and James fit together, in a neat messy puzzle. James's darker skin contrasting with Regulus's more pale, like the sun and it's moon. Recently, Remus had been reading some muggle plays of man named Shakespeare, and just by looking at the two, he could tell that he would've written down every piece of their love story, until he knew it by heart.
The enigma, the question, he just couldn't find the answer to was you, because Regulus and James were different sides of the same coin. Slytherin and Gryffindor, light and dark, sun and moon. You just didn't fit as nicely into the big picture.
That's what he used to think anyway, before the marauders and everyone else had gotten to know you. To Remus, he used to think of you as a temporary escape for the two boys, as you were the only one out of the three who had a normal life. It was harsh, but it was the only answer to the equation he could come up with.
Remus's life hadn't been full of answers, maybe that's why he tried to find the solution, so there would be no more variables. So he didn't have to attempt to find the solution later, when they most needed it most. So maybe, just once his life could be left with more answers than questions.
Action reaction, like getting bit by a werewolf - he was one of them now. Finding Sirius, James, and Peter on the train - becoming friends. Gaining feelings for Padfoot, confessing them and becoming a couple. (Okay, maybe there were multiple steps to that equation.) Everything had a solution, something he liked to find to keep himself sane. When everything else in his life was swirled with insanity.
You fitting into the equation didn't follow a path of logic, it was completely and utterly crazy.
Now, he sees what he didn't before, the way you would stay with James even when the smile slipped from his lips. How you would listen to Regulus, and give him space to talk about his family troubles, why he stayed.
You would let James cry, and make Regulus giggle, the planets didn't just revolve around the sun now. Now the moon and it's star revolved around you.
You were a nebula, because when a person looked at you, they gasped in wonder. Everything unknown and beautiful was you, a glittering cloud of normalcy and love. Nurturing but fleeting if need be.
One time, Sirius said he and his brother were the stars, and you only laughed, shaking your head.
"Regulus is like the moon, for so long we thought we couldn't reach him, until we did."
Remus's boyfriend looked startled, Remus could agree with the feeling. How had you, just made sense of someone so complex, with so many strings and layers, with just a sentence?
The werewolf wanted to see how you would respond if he asked you about everybody at Hogwarts, about the ministry, his family. Instead, he asked you about your other boyfriend.
"James?" You smiled softly, and for some reason it warmed Remus's heart, that when you thought about his friend, you immediately were happy. As if just thinking about him was enough to revel in his sunlight.
"James is the sun, he's bright, but sometimes his brilliance gets the peoples eyes, it can annoy them. Until he gets farther away." You still had a pleasant look upon your face, but your eyes were brightly alight with sadness. "Then it's winter, and they long for summer again, because then the sun could be there to warm them a second time. Regardless of its blinding sunlight."
Remus thinks, that was the moment that he started to understand why James and Regulus had both fallen for you. You were the beautiful unknown, a nebula, out of reach, but oh, so beautiful to gaze upon.
Remus still didn't quite comprehend how you fit into the grand scheme of things, but he thinks, he starting to see the big picture.
Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is suitor!
(773 words.)
Sirius stares at his own reflection in the mirror, wishing, for once, that he could switch his emotions off like the rest of his family. He doesn't really want to look at himself in his dress robes. It just reminds him of what he's about to do, the life laid out in front of him, which he really doesn't want to think about. Every time he remembers the suitor at the end of the aisle, the marriage his parents have decided he needs, their desperation to 'fix him', he feels nauseous.
That thought just sends him down a rabbit hole, the ghost of a memory of amber eyes, a slightly crooked smile, and an embrace that felt like home being all he has left. Well, that and the knowledge that the only man he's ever loved probably hates him. Sometimes he wonders what his life could have been if he'd just... run. Gotten away from the hellish life that the Black family have left him with.
"Sirius." Regulus' voice drags him out of his thoughts, turning to face his little brother.
"Oh. Hi." He doesn't mean for his voice to sound so... hollow, so dejected. Still, he does his best to offer Regulus a smile. "How come you're not in your seat? We're starting soon. Mum'll flip her shit."
He expected Regulus to roll his eyes, maybe smile slightly if he's in a decent mood, but his expression doesn't falter. There's a slight furrow in his brow, the only sign that he's concerned.
"Sirius, you can't do this," He says slowly, stepping inside the small room and shutting the door behind him. The words stun Sirius, freezing him for a moment.
"What? Reggie, what d'you mean-"
"You're not getting married today. You shouldn't," He insists, which does nothing but confuse Sirius.
"Reg, I don't really think I have a choice, here. Where's this coming from?"
"...I ran into Remus." The admission sends Sirius' heart into overdrive, a wave of dizziness hitting him. It's like someone has stolen the breath from his lungs, memories attacking him from every angle.
"What?" The word comes out slightly breathless, shock overwhelming him.
"He asked about you. He loves you, Sirius, it was obvious."
"But I- I abandoned-"
"No, you didn't, and he knows you didn't. He was just happy to hear that you were alive. Sirius, you can't keep living like this. We both know it."
Realistically, Sirius knows this. He knows that he won't be able to take it much longer in his family, but he's been able to shove it to the back of his mind. He made it his goal to distract his family from Regulus, and it's been enough to keep him going.
Hearing his little brother telling him he's making a mistake makes everything feel much more real.
"Reg, what are you saying?" He asks carefully.
"I'm saying you need to leave. Today. Now, if you can." Just as Sirius opens his mouth to ask where the fuck he would go, Regulus stops him. "Here," He pulls a scrap of parchment out of the pocket of his dress robes, surging forward and shoving it into Sirius' hand. "James and Remus' addresses are both on here, I got them off Remus. He should know you're coming. You need to go."
"Reggie, I can't-"
"Yes, you can! You have to!" His tone leaves minimal room for argument, but Regulus isn't even going to let him try. "I know why you've stayed as long as you have, and you're a bloody idiot for it. I'll be okay, Sirius."
"Then you can leave with me," He says desperately, reaching out to grasp his brother's hand. Regulus just shakes his head.
"I can't. One of us needs to stay here, and it sure to fuck isn't going to be you. Just... go and find Remus, okay? Please."
Sirius meets his brother's eyes, startled to find that his face is softened, almost pleading with Sirius. He's giving Sirius a way out. One that he's not going to find again, and he's not taking no for an answer.
Remus' face comes full force back to the front of his mind. Vaguely, he wonders if he looks the same. If he's gotten any new scars, if he would still look at Sirius in that same way that made him weak at the knees, that he conjures when he can't sleep, when he needs comfort.
"Go, Sirius. You deserve to be happy," Regulus' voice urges him. It's the one that cracks his resolve. The desperation in his brother's voice is breaking him.
He needs to go.
Remus is waiting for him.
double date
Behold, the dumbest thing I have ever written. I inflicted this on a handful of Discord pals a while back, but you know what? Everyone should be made to suffer from my terrible writing 😂
-------
“Padfoot, calm down.” Remus lays a hand on Sirius’s, stopping him from further shredding his empty straw wrapper.
“I am calm.”
“Mate, you’re literally vibrating.” James is sitting on Sirius’s other side, and he puts a hand on Sirius’s knee, stilling his bouncing leg. “It’s just Regulus.”
“Just Regulus?” Sirius hisses. “I haven’t seen him since I was seventeen, James! This isn’t just Regulus, this is huge!”
“I know,” Remus says soothingly. “But you being a nervous wreck isn’t going to make this any easier.”
Sirius sags a bit in his seat. “I want this to go well, Moony.”
“It will. This was his idea, after all. That’s promising, isn’t it?”
“S’pose so.” Sirius straightens in his seat, brightening a little. “Think it’s a good sign that he wants to introduce me to his boyfriend, too.”
“It was sweet of him to suggest a double date,” Remus says, casting James a significant look. James shrugs, unapologetic.
“Like I’m going to pass up a chance to see Baby Black and his boyfriend,” he says cheerfully. “What do you think? Think Reggie’s dating a Muggle?”
Sirius’s entire face lights up, and he cackles. “A Muggle! Oh, Prongs, that’d be brilliant. Might put Mother in an early grave, too.”
The door opens then, and Regulus steps into the pub. Sirius goes completely still, eyes wide, so Remus raises a helpful hand to flag him down. Regulus catches sight of them, and hesitates for a moment before making his way over to their table. He’s followed by a tall man with long black hair and--
Snape.
It’s Snape.
Regulus is dating Severus fucking Snape.
The waiter appears at their table at the same time Regulus and Snape do. Remus raises his hand.
“Five Firewhiskeys, please,” he says while James and Sirius openly gape at the newcomers. The waiter smiles politely.
“A round for the table, then?”
“Oh, no, those are all for me.”
The waiter departs, and Regulus pulls out the chair across from Sirius. Snape’s eyes flick between James and Remus, and he eventually chooses the seat across from Remus. Remus gives him his biggest, most wolfish grin, and Snape quickly looks away.
“Brother,” Regulus says.
“Reggie,” Sirius squeaks. “What the fuck--”
Remus digs his fingers into Sirius’s thigh. “What Sirius means is, it’s great to see you.”
“Yeah,” Sirius says, his voice only slightly strangled. “Yeah, Reggie, it’s great to see you. Thanks…thanks for suggesting this. And for bringing your, um.”
“Fiance,” Regulus says.
“Fiance?” Sirius and James burst out, looking horrified.
“That’s great, Regulus,” Remus says through gritted teeth, kicking Sirius under the table. “Isn’t it?”
James recovers first. “Yeah, it’s--that’s great. Love is…great.”
Sirius draws a deep breath, visibly pulling himself together. “I’m really happy for you, Regulus. Shall we, um, decide what to order?”
The waiter returns with Remus’s Firewhiskeys, takes their food orders, and goes off again. Sirius clears his throat.
“So, um, Severus,” he says, and the name sounds like it only pains him a little to say, “what is it you do?”
“I’m the Potions Master at Hogwarts,” Snape says. Remus cringes inwardly--those poor students--and knocks back his first shot.
“What about you, Regulus?” he asks.
“I’m--”
“Regulus doesn’t work,” Snape cut in.
“Doesn’t work?” Sirius repeats.
“He doesn’t need to.”
“That’s right,” Regulus says. “I’m…taking care of the household.”
“But you wanted to be a potioneer,” James says, and he sounds pained.
Regulus stares at him. “You remember that?”
“‘Course I remember it,” James says quietly. “Thought you’d be brilliant at it. You wanted to open a shop in Diagon Alley and everything. What happened?”
“Oh, er, nothing. It’s just…not really for me.”
“That doesn’t sound like you at all.”
The tension at the table increases tenfold. Remus takes a second shot.
“If that makes you happy, Reggie, I support it,” Sirius says abruptly. “It…sounds great. Staying home and…looking after Severus’s…things.”
“I’m a trophy husband, too,” Remus says with a wink. “I have no complaints.”
Regulus gives him a tight smile. “Yes, I’m sure I’ll…get used to it.”
“He’ll take care of the children, too,” Snape says, and Remus chokes on his third shot.
“When the time comes,” Regulus says hastily, patting Snape’s arm.
“I think you’ll be singing a different tune on our wedding night,” Snape purrs, and Remus grabs Sirius’s wrist before he can draw his wand.
“Yes, when is the wedding?” he asks.
“This summer,” Snape says. “That leaves us with plenty of time to ensure that he’s with child by the time term begins.”
“What, you’re going to knock him up and then leave him?” James asks.
“Yes, we agreed that was best,” Regulus says.
“If it makes you happy,” Sirius says again, though this time it’s through gritted teeth.
“Indeed. There’s no need for me to be around for…the unpleasantness of pregnancy,” Snape says, waving a hand.
“Raising children is very, um, rewarding,” Remus says quickly, while Sirius makes a noise like a wounded animal. The room’s getting a bit blurry, and he feels very light.
“Rewarding, yeah,” Sirius says in a high-pitched voice. He clears his throat. “R-right, Jamie?”
“Yep, yeah, greatest thing I’ve ever done. I love staying home with Haz,” James says. “‘Specially now that I only have him half the time.”
Regulus’s eyes snap to James. “You broke up with Evans?”
James blinks. “Er, yeah. Divorced about a year ago. We’ve been doing the whole co-parenting thing and it’s going really well, though.”
Light pink dusts Regulus’s cheeks, and--oh.
Oh, that would make sense. That would make so much sense. How had he missed it?
Remus grabs his fourth shot and polishes it off. He then raises the fifth shot and says, “A toast!”
“A toast?” Regulus, James, and Sirius echo.
“To the happy couple.” Remus pushes Sirius’s glass at him, water sloshing over the sides. “C’mon, Pads. Toast your brother and his--and his happiness.”
Sirius lifts his glass, looking like he’s swallowed something sour. “Er--right. To Regulus and Sn-Severus. May you, um…”
“Have a very happy life together,” James jumps in when Sirius falters.
“Right, that. And…love one another forever?”
“And be fruitful and multiply,” Remus says cheerfully.
Now it’s Regulus’s turn to look like he’s tasted something bitter, but Snape practically leers.
“Oh, we will,” he says, leaning in to kiss Regulus.
Bang!
Snape is thrown out of his chair and crashes into the wall behind him, cracking his head on the bricks before landing in a crumpled heap on the floor.
“James!” Sirius exclaims in outrage.
“It wasn’t me!” James protests.
“It was me,” Regulus says with a sniff. “Honestly. The nerve of him. I told him I wanted to wait until the wedding night.”
Remus hands his last Firewhiskey shot to Regulus, who downs it without blinking.
“You’re not in love with Snape,” he says, and Regulus pulls a face.
“Of course I’m not.”
“Then why did you tell me you were bringing your boyfriend to meet us!” Sirius demands.
“Because it’s what people do, Sirius,” Regulus says.
“What people?”
“People who are meeting their estranged brother and his husband for the first time in years!” Regulus sighs. “I can’t go on a double date with my brother if I don’t have a date.”
“Wait, did you--did you pretend to date Snape and then get engaged to him just so you would have a reason to reach out to me?”
“Well, he didn’t think it was pretend.” Regulus sniffs again. “I’m very convincing, you know.”
“You didn’t--”
Regulus’s lip curls. “Of course not. I told him I was a virgin and waiting for our wedding night. I should probably be insulted by how easily he bought that. Potter, what are you doing over there?”
James blinks at him. “What?”
“This is a double date, isn’t it?” Regulus gestures at the now-empty chair next to him. “I need a date.”
“Oh!” James scrambles over to the other side of the table. “Right, of course. Hello.”
“Hello.”
“You look amazing, you know.”
Regulus blushes. “Yes, you’ve been staring at me since I sat down. Awfully rude of you, with my fiance right there.”
James looks pained. “He’s not your fiance anymore, is he?”
“Merlin, no.”
“What,” Sirius whispers to Remus, “is happening right now?”
Remus pats his shoulder. “I think the wedding is still on.”
“Different groom, though, right?”
“Oh, yeah, definitely.”
james potter x idiot!y/n
you were sirius black's girlfriend, practically the best prize you could ever have. all the girls wanted him but he wanted you, i mean right? besides that, he had always been charming and so caring for you.
you were just glad that he had asked you out in fourth year and you guys were still together in sixth year. not only did you get along with all of his friends especially james.
onto the point, today was sirius's birthday and you had planned an entire event just so he knew how much you loved him. you had worn the dress he loved so much and everyone hid silently in the gryffindor common room for his arrival with james and remus.
you heard the door open and you were ecstatic to see james, remus, peter and sirius all there as everyone yelled happy birthday and sirius's glowing smile appeared.
you walked up to him with a smile, "happy birthday baby." you gave him a kiss on the lips.
he grabbed onto you waist, pushing in his tongue as remus coughed, "oh shit sorry, thank you everyone!" he said as you fixed your hair. he went off to talk to the others as you looked at remus and james.
"how hard was it to get him here?" you asked.
"let's just say he thought he was going to a strip club in the room of requirement." remus joked with his hands in his pockets as you and james both laughed, "shit, he is going to body surf in a non-existent crowd, let me take care of that for you." remus said causing you and james to laugh harder, watching remus get sirius off the table.
you looked at james, "how's everything potter?" you asked with a smile.
"pretty good but i have to admit, i am pretty shocked that you did this entire thing basically by yourself." he said as you grinned, taking a sip of your drink.
"wouldn't have done it without you guys." you said, embracing james as he took you in entirely.
you smelled of cinnamon, lavender, and vanilla mixed in one and the way your boobs were right against his chest only made him harden in his pants.
after what felt like an eternity, you moved back, "have fun potter." you said with a wink as you headed over to sirius.
"you're staring." dorcas said next him with a wink as he scowled, sticking out his tongue at her.
"okay come on guys, we have to sing happy birthday before he gets absolutely pissed drunk." you said as everyone laughed.
you counted down from three as everyone started singing. james was singing but he could only focus on your beautiful smile and the way your hair looked. he wished that he had pining over you instead of lily evans all those years ago.
everyone screamed happy birthday sirius, snapping james out of his thoughts. sirius blew out his candles as everybody cheered louder.
sirius kissed you, shoving cake in your mouth as you both laughed. james felt as if he couldn't watch anymore so he decided to just go to his shared dorm.
after a few hours, you had seen remus and peter but you were wondering where sirius was, you guessed he probably fell asleep in his dorm.
you went inside of his dorm room, not wanting to wake him up by turning off the lights. it was pitch black dark and you couldn't make out a single thing. you tripped on something, groaning a bit in pain as you went into the bed.
your bottom was grinding against james's front as he woke up, he groaned a bit as you turned around, "are you awake sirius?" james was confused but due to just waking up, he did a simple uh huh.
"i wanted to give you a birthday surprise." you said, kissing him. you felt his lips were a little different but didn't pay any mind.
james should've stopped you but he selfishly wanted you to keep going, not meaning to sleep in sirius's bed. he started kissing your neck as you moaned, "feels so good siri."
"let me help you." you said as you sank lower down in the matress to his cock. you pulled it from his boxers as james groaned and you started sucking on his tip.
he refrained from talking as you took the entirety of him into your mouth, his hand gripping on your hair.
sirius felt a bit bigger than you had thought but you were glad that he was enjoying it so you didn't think too much into it.
you continued bobbing your head up and down his cock as you finally felt his cum in your mouth.
you did a little giggle as you made your way back up to his lips, he grabbed the back of your head, pushing you into a punishing kiss as you gasped into his mouth.
you took off your panties while your lips were still on his, lining your entrance with his cock. you sat down on his cock as he groaned into your mouth.
your head flew up in ecstasy as he gripped onto your hips, pouncing up and down his cock.
"you're so big siri, shit." you said, going up and down faster.
you were so tight for him.
moans and groans filled the room as james started circling your clit with his thumb, "i'm gonna cum, fuck."
he started moving your hips up and down faster, still touching your clit, as you both finally came.
"it's okay, i'll get the pill in the morning, i love you." you said, kissing his lips as you fell asleep.
he slowly moved out of sirius's bed, grabbing his boxers as he went on his own bed.
he heard sirius drunkly come in the room, going into the bed where you laid, cuddling you.
james sighed in relief as he went to sleep.
the next day, you went inside the common room, walking as slowly as you could. james guessed you were sore from the night before. sirius hadn't come down yet so it was just you and him.
"hey jamie." you tiredly yawned.
"hey y/n." he gave you a smile.
"did you have a fun night?" you asked, sitting next to him,
"yeah, one of the best nights of my life." james replied as you grinned.
"i'm glad." you said, laying your head on his shoulder.
"what about you?" he asked, nervously.
"one of the best nights of my life." you said, your smile growing wider.
and james hummed,
because he was glad that you felt the same exact way.
Prompt 31 - Lock
@jegulus-microfic January 31 Word count 1755
This is it folks. I'm quite emotional. I really hope you all like it.
For my biggest fans @weirdtinkerbellversion @thedvilsinthedetails and @beautyoftheships I love you guys.
Previous part First part
All he could hear was white noise. His brain couldn’t process James’s words. His eyes found the bottle of wine, and he automatically poured himself a glass and downed it.
He grasped the edge of the counter with both hands and felt his body shake.
James remained silent, not wanting to push him.
Regulus bit back tears and turned around, putting his protective mask in place, leaving his face devoid of emotion.
“So that’s it for us then?” He stared at James with dead eyes, his voice a bored monotone. It made James shiver.
“I don’t want it to be.” Tears dripped down his face. “Reg,” He croaked. “I love you. I want to be with you. Lily told me this life-changing news,” He looked at his watch. “Four hours ago.”
“So, you didn’t know anything while I was arranging my return to England?” He sounded cold and accusing. He tried not to care. James shook his head.
“No, Reg. I swear. I’ve only just found out.” James looked at him, features full of heartbreak. “You’re the first person I’ve told. Not even Sirius knows.” This shocked Regulus almost as much as finding out James was going to be a father.
He smelt burning. He spun around and pulled the ruined dinner out of the oven. He threw it on the side and bit down on his lip.
“James, I need you to go. Please.” His mask had slipped. It would be only moments before he broke down.
“Reg—“
“Please, James. I need to figure out if this is the life I want. Kids were never my plan, and now…” He didn’t know how to finish that sentence, so he let it sit.
“I’m so sorry, Reg. Nothing ever seems to go right for us. Does it? I really hope that changes.” His voice was thick as he continued. “Please remember whatever you choose, I will always love you.” With that, James left. The door hadn’t even banged shut before Regulus was sobbing.
———————————————————————————
James’s chest hurt. What should have been a hopefully pleasant evening had turned into yet another nightmare. He looked up at the skies and called out to whoever might be listening.
“Could whoever is writing our story please give us a break?!” When he got no answer, he walked back to his empty house. Even Leo had gone out.
His phone buzzed.
‘Hey. Reggie just texted me and said you’d gone home already. Take it it didn’t go well then? Wanna meet for lunch tomorrow? Usual place?
Love ya
xxx’
He sent back a quick, ‘Yeah, sounds good to me. See you at noon x.’ He decided the best thing was to go to bed and deal with everything in the morning.
***
James heard the sound of thundering boots coming up fast behind him. He began to turn, but before he could see what was happening. There was an almighty thud. He looked down at the pavement and sprawled across it. Hair in a wild mess was Sirius.
“Trip over your laces again?” James said flatly.
“Yup.” A muffled reply came from the heap on the floor. James snorted loudly as he bent to pick his friend up.
Miraculously, Sirius had gotten away with only a slight graze on his cheek.
“Is it true? Am I going to be an Uncle!” He shook James vigorously in his excitement.
“I suppose so, I guess,” James said as he tried to escape Sirius's grasp.
“I’m godfather!” He burst out, bouncing up and down.
“Sirius, we’re not even religious.”
“Fine, fairy godfather, whatever. Either way, I bagsy it.” James sighed and clapped him on the back.
“You got it, you absolute crazy man.” He bent down and tied Sirius’s laces for him.
“Awww, you’re gonna be such a good dad.” He gushed as he wiggled his foot, checking out his shoelaces.
“Come on then, let’s go get lunch. I had some amazing news to tell you.” James chuckled as he threw his arm around Sirius’s shoulder and continued down the street to the little cafe on the corner.
Sirius didn’t stop babbling about all the baby things he’d googled and spouted off so much information that James felt his chest tightening in panic.
“I think he just needs time, you know.”
“Hmm, what?” James had completely zoned out, picking his sandwich to pieces.
“I said, he just needs time. It’s a lot. But I really hope he picks you, mate.” Sirius said, taking James’s hands away from his decimated sandwich and squeezing them gently. He didn’t want to get his hopes up again, but he didn’t fight very hard.
***
He was painting when the door went. He nearly fell off the ladder as he hurried downstairs to answer it. He was covered in paint, so he tried to touch as few things as possible.
He yanked the door open, slightly red-faced, and lost all his breath when he saw Regulus standing there.
“Hi,”
“Hi,”
“I’ve made my decision.” Regulus blurted out, not waiting to be invited in. James felt his mouth go dry.
“And?” His tongue was like sandpaper. He couldn’t take the suspense.
“I’m in,” Regulus said confidently. “Nappies, late night feedings, helping them plot their revenge on the school bully. All of it. I’m in.” Without warning, James flung himself at Regulus. He gathered him up into his arms and spun him around. He was bursting with joy.
He suddenly dropped him and ran into his office. He rooted around in a draw and rushed back to Regulus, who was still waiting at the front door.
“I got you something.” He held out the small box.
“What the fuck! James! Are you proposing?” Regulus’s eyebrows disappeared into the curls that hung over his forehead. James’s eyes widened.
“NO! No, No,” He opened the box. “It’s just a key!”
“Oh,” Regulus sounded disappointed. James made a mental note to put a pin in that for later.
“And what lock does this open, James? Your heart?” A playful smirk settled on Regulus’s mouth.
“It’s a key to the house. So you don’t have to knock any more, you can come and go as you please. And—” He took a deep breath. He’d been preparing for this. “And if you’d like to—No pressure, by the way—But if you’d like to, I’d love it if you moved in with me.” Regulus took the silver-coloured key from the box and held it in his hand, staring at it, flipping it over in his palm. He looked up at James, a sweet, shy smile on his lips.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay, I’ll move in with you. Being away, I forgot how obnoxious Sirius is. I’ve had to buy earplugs to block out his nighttime noises.” He pulled a face, gagging slightly. James grabbed him in his arms again and lifted him into the air.
“I love you,” He whispered across Regulus’s lips before closing the gap.
Only when he set a breathless Regulus back on his feet did he remember he was covered in paint. He looked in horror at the cream-coloured paint splattered all over Regulus’s black coat. Regulus looked down as well.
“Is that paint?” His eyebrow shot up as he questioned James.
“Yeah, sorry. I was painting the room that’s going to be the nursery. Er, put your coat in the wash, and you can borrow one of mine. I’ll just go get changed.” He ushered Regulus inside and shut the door. Being very careful not to touch him again.
Regulus shrugged off his coat.
“Did you get it finished.? He asked matter of factly.
“Er, no, I didn’t. I barely even started. Only done about half a wall.” Regulus pulled his jumper off and started up the stairs. James chased after him and into his bedroom. But Regulus wasn’t there. “Reg?” He called out as he tried and failed to figure out where he’d gone.
“I’m in the baby’s room. Where are you?” Regulus called back. James hurried out of the bedroom. Clearly, he’d gotten the wrong idea.
Regulus, roller in hand, was making a start on the wall that James had started. He’d already accomplished more than he had and didn’t have a lick of paint on him. James leaned against the door frame, watching the man he hoped to spend the rest of his life with painting his unborn child’s room.
He didn’t think there were enough words in the world to describe how much he loved him.
———————————————————————————
Nine months later
“James, he’s beautiful.” Regulus hadn’t expected to feel this way when meeting baby Harry for the first time. The tiny raven-haired boy slept soundly in James’s arms. James grinned the biggest grin Regulus had ever seen on his face. He turned to Lily. “He’s amazing, Lily. How are you doing?” She looked exhausted, but she still had a smile for him and a cheeky wink.
“You know me. Cup of coffee, and I’ll be right back up.”
“Do you want to hold him?” James asked him as he slowly rocked the baby to and fro.
“I don’t want to hurt him,” Regulus said quietly. His palms felt sweaty as he looked nervously at the tiny, delicate bundle that was nestled in James’s arms.
“You’ll be fine. Here.” James stood and awkwardly transferred Harry into Regulus’s arms.
He looked again at the tiny baby and felt a protective love surge through his body.
Harry fussed in his arms, and he instinctively began to sway. Harry opened his little mouth in a perfect O and settled back down. He was so in love.
There was a quiet tap at the hospital door, and Sirius’s face popped around it.
“Can we come in yet?” He whined. James nodded.
“Yeah, of course you can.”
Sirius rushed in, followed more slowly by Remus. They crowded around Regulus so they could get a good look at the baby.
“Look, Sirius,” Regulus said, pulling his gaze away from Harry to look at his brother. “Isn’t he perfect?” Sirius wrapped an arm around him.
“Yeah, Reggie, he is. Now give me a turn!” Reluctantly, Regulus handed him over and went to stand next to James. James pulled him in close, wrapping his arms around him as they watched Sirius and Remus quietly argue over how long Sirius got to hold him before it was Remus’s turn. Lily had fallen asleep. She was exhausted after the long labour. It was peaceful.
James leant his chin on Regulus’s shoulder and whispered in his ear.
“How you doing, Papa?” Regulus’s heart melted.
“I can't,” James says in almost a whine.
The boys had asked you to do their makeup for the Halloween party Marlene was throwing. You had all your boys sit on the bathroom counter while you stood in between their legs.
Remus sat still the entire time, to be fair his make up only included some black face paint making triangles around his eyes and some black lipstick making his smirk more noticeable.
Sirius surprisingly also stayed pretty still. He's used to you doing his makeup and sat still as long as you agreed to kiss him after every step and have Remus hold his hand as somewhat of a reward. His makeup was black smudged eyeliner with shiny dark red lipstick. He wanted to be some sort of seductive pirate.
James on the other hand just wouldn't stop wiggling.
“James, baby, I love you but if you move one more time I might just leave you here with a half done face of makeup”
his pout makes you question your choice of words. You have tried everything from putting on a show behind you to kissing him after each step like you do with Sirius. But James isn't Sirius, he's James and James needs to move.
James wanted the most complicated look of all. He wanted the skeleton makeup look that Tate Langdon wore in American Horror Story. Doing this look on Remus would have been difficult in itself but on James? You really had your work cut out.
“Alright, new strategy!” you yell out after almost stabbing James’ eye with the brush you were using when he jerked his head to the side to see what Sirius was doing.
“Sirius,” He turns to you immediately looking at you with his puppy eyes waiting for instruction. He's adorable, you thought to yourself quickly.
“You go stand on the far wall of the bedroom”
“Yes ma’am," he replies, doing a soldier's salute on his way out of the bathroom.
“Remus,”
He looks up from the book he's reading,
“Yes, love?”
“Can you lay on the bed for me?”
“M’kay” he hums and he leans over your shoulder and places a light kiss on your cheek and a kiss on James's forehead on the way out.
“Now, James”
The poor boy just looked confused now, wondering why his boyfriends had been ordered to leave the bathroom. You find the crease between his eyebrows incredibly endearing.
“I’m going to set a timer for 3:00 minutes and do as much makeup as I can. You can play with my rings while I do it, just try your hardest to stay still. After the three minutes are done I want you to get up, run to the bedroom, go give Sirius a big kiss anywhere you see fit.”  You see his eyes sparkle up with mischief  “not that”  “And then I want you to flop down onto the bed give Remus a hug and a kiss and then come back here and sit back up on the counter and give me a kiss. Sound good baby?”
James was already bouncing in his seat, already wanting to go do his new task. Seeing that you caved and said
“Why don't you go do a practice round real quick?”
“Can you time me please?”
“Of course baby”
With the confirmation he dashes out of the bathroom and promptly  jumps onto Sirius who lets out a “hmph” in response to getting the breath knocked out of him. James decided to give him a big wet kiss right on the cheek and he pops off with a comical smooching sound. Right when he's done he runs to Remus, who is already bracing himself to be jumped on, and he flops down right on top of him.
James looked down at Remus with a lovesick expression and whispered a soft “Hi”
Remus just giggled and replied with a soft “Hey baby” although that's all that he could get out before James smothers him in kisses from his forehead down to his collarbones.
He must have remembered he was being timed at some point because he jumped up off the bed and ran full speed at you. You're a giggling mess before he even reaches you, and then when he does reach you he quickly grabs your waist and one of your arms, twirls you (yes he actually twirls you like you were in a romcom) then he dips you down and kisses you. A sweet long kiss that makes your head spin and frankly you're surprised that your legs haven't given out because of it.
When he pulls away your brain is fuzzy and you feel so full of love you might just melt in his arms. He moves to sit back up on the counter and you retake your earlier position in between his legs.
“You ready to do it all again baby?”
It's been a while since I looked at flowers so here are Marauders era characters as plants:
James Potter: Sunflowers since he's commonly associated with the sun. Or delphinium for positivity and a big heart!
Sirius Black: Ivy, the common ivy, or English or European ivy. It's a symbol of loyalty and fidelity. Fits enough for me.
Remus Lupin: Wolfsbane. Believed to repel werewolves, and it's used in a potion in the Wizarding World. But if we want a less angsty plant there is also the tropical white morning glory. It's also known as a moonflower and symbolizes the ability of beauty to emerge in dark times, and is used to provide hope.
Peter Pettigrew: Burgundy dahlias for betrayal, for obvious reasons. But also purple hyacinths for a desire for forgiveness. Cuz I'm hell bent that Peter was regretful of what he did in canon
Lily Evans: I'm not gonna give her lily, that seems a little too obvious lol but, peonies! They symbolize love, honor, happiness wealth, romance, and beauty. Which yk, works well in my eyes
Mary Macdonald: Poppies for remembrance of the death and consolation. It's based on the headcanon she obliviated herself sometime before to during the first wizarding war because everything was getting too much for her. Also, poppies are used to create opium, which relieves pain. It's pretty sad ngl, that hc always gets me.
Marlene McKinnon: King Protea, it's very sharp-looking flower that symbolizes strength and resilience. Not much info is given about Marlene during the war except her entire family was wiped out, but given her personality in fanon. I imagine she put up a hella good fight. I would give this to Dorcas but I have another one for her.
Slytherins! (Including Pandora!)
Regulus Black: Thorns! Rose thorns mostly, but just thorns in general. From what I read, rose thorns show adversity and sacrifice. Regulus had the misfortune of being born into a family with shit views and never having a morally correct input his entire life and he basically sacrificed his life to bring down the Dark Lord. Thorns are always ways for a plant to deter herbivores from eating them, take that as you will!
Barty Crouch Jr: Bleeding hearts, cuz yeahhhh, everlasting love? Unrequited love?? Tragedy compacted into one. His daddy issues too?? Him pleading for his dad to love him?? HIS MOTHER GIVING UP HER LAST MOMENTS FOR HIM??? EVAN AND REGULUS???? CMON CMONNNNN
Evan Rosier: Venus Fly Trap for persistence. This man was not willing to end up in Azkaban and took Moody's fucking nose with him. Venus fly traps are also known to die right after digestion aka eating a fly so it fits! (I LOVEEE carnivorous plants)
Dorcas Meadows: Laurel leaves for victory and achievement. Specifically, laurel leaves in a wreath. I think it's neat since she was powerful enough that Voldemort had to kill her himself. Mf was takin them out one by one until Voldy decided she was too op. LOVE HER FOR THAT
Pandora Rosier: Not the most hottest flower (lol), but the amaranth, while it could also mean everlasting last love, but it also means hopelessness or hopeless love. This only really works if you see Pandora as a seer. Something I think is interesting is the fact that fate is fate, it's sealed and final, and there is never a way around it. If you try to get around fate, you walk right into it because you never a chance. Pandora as a seer would've saw her friends and classmates dying and can't do anything about it because fate is sealed from the very beginning. It's hopeless.
Remus Lupin was a hard person to get to know. He wasn’t rude necessarily, he just wasn’t really out there. Not like the group he surrounded himself with, especially the two marauders known as James and Sirius. No, Remus was quiet and reserved. He didn’t like to let people get in too close, and it was why it had been difficult for you to even be able to consider yourself friends.
You had always liked him, always wanted to get to know him. Always gotten flustered anytime you were nearby him. At first, it was a typical hallway crush: you didn’t really talk to him, you just thought he was attractive and sweet. But, after you had started spending time together (kudos to Sirius, who had called you over to where they were sitting one morning for breakfast and forced you two to talk. Unbeknowst to you, Remus had been harboring a similar hallway crush and his friend was desperate to make him ask you out), that silly crush had developed into a much deeper pining.
You tend to forget about all of the red flags whenever you’re around him. You ignore how he disappears every month, how he has a tendency to fly off the handle on certain weeks and how anything can set him off at that time, how he never wants to talk about himself or his past. How, despite him knowing almost everything about you, you know hardly anything about him. It’s easy to forget all of that when he’s having a good day. When he apologizes if he was harsh, and when he gives you those soft eyes filled with regret. When he leans in to fix the tie of your school uniform or fix your hair. It’s so, so easy to forget.
But then, you go back to your dorm and you remember it all. Your mind tries to put the pieces in place, and you fail everytime, always chalking it up to him having a bad day and hoping tomorrow will be better.
Today had been one of those days where he was apologizing. Apologizing for snapping at you yesterday, for asking you to give him space in such a harsh way. You didn’t deserve that, he knew that. He wanted to kick himself for always putting so much on you, he wanted to make it up to you.
“Come on,” he had been tugging your hand, a soft smile on his face as he pulled you through the doors. He had yet to tell you where he was taking you, only that he had a surprise and you’d see soon enough. You had asked if it was your birthday or something, confused why he was so eager for whatever he had in store, and he simply said it was a grand gesture for his being such a jerk the other day.
“Remus, are we almost there? My feet hurt,” you complained, a whine in your voice and he only laughed, pulling you further. You both had to keep your voice low, walking around the outside schoolgrounds when you were supposed to be in your common rooms for curfew.
“Just a few more steps, promise,” he assured you, and you were slightly concerned over his giddiness. He was never this happy. You decided not to question it, though, only admiring his smile from where you were walking a bit behind him. Your chest felt warm at the idea of him being so happy over something he had done for you. It had you almost believing this pining feeling was mutual.
You shut up your complaining for a while, partly scared of ruining this nice moment. Luckily, Remus hadn’t been totally lying when he said just a few more steps, and it wasn’t long until he was pulling you to the quidditch field.
He turned around and grinned at you, and you only furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. What was so special about the quidditch field? You had opened your mouth to question him, but he quickly stepped out of your view, putting on full display the picnic he had set up. It wasn’t a ton, mainly snacks and desserts since it was so late at night.
“I wanted to do it during the day but James refused to give up his practice time. So, night time picnic it is,” he explained, grabbing your hand again to pull you towards the setup. You were scarily silent, and he was worried he overstepped: worried this was what made you finally notice his feelings for you, and that he’d run you off. “Do you like it? Is it too much? I just - I felt really bad about being so harsh, and I wanted you to know I didn’t mean it. I was just having a rough week.”
“No, no - it’s not too much. It’s great. But, Remus,” you started, his side turning to face you now, and you begged yourself not to look into his puppy-like eyes because you knew you’d get distracted, “you don’t have to apologize. It’s okay to have a bad day. You’re allowed.”
“I have a lot of bad days. More than most people.”
“Maybe, but I don’t mind.”
“You should. I put you through too much,” he frowned, and somewhere within your conversation, you had both sat down, but he kept a hold of your hand. He was rubbing shapes into your palm, and you assumed it was more for him than it was for you.
“Seriously, Remus. It’s okay. I wouldn’t go through it if I thought it was too much. Or if I didn’t think you were worth it,” you assured him, your head tilting slightly as he finally looked up at you, something different in his eyes. Something you hadn’t noticed before.
“You’re so good. You’re too good,” he mumbled, and you weren’t sure if you were supposed to hear or not so you pretended not to. “Please tell me you’re just pretending and you’re not actually that oblivious.”
“What?” A confused expression came over your face again at the sudden statement, pulling your hand from his as you sat up straighter. Had you missed something?
“Us. Me - my feelings for you. You seriously haven’t noticed?” He questioned, seemingly in disbelief at whatever it was you had failed to take note of. “I’ve been in love with you since I saw you. I - why else would I take you on a picnic at night? I don’t just treat everyone like this.”
Your eyes widened, your mouth parted and for a moment, he worried he said the wrong thing. “You’re in love with me?”
“Is that okay?”
“It’s more than okay,” you responded, giddiness lacing your tone and you couldn’t help the grin that slowly overtook your features. It seemed as if he couldn’t help it, either. He leaned in closer, and you thought he might kiss you. He looked like he wanted to.
“I have to tell you something, first. Because it wouldn’t be fair to you, if I didn’t. And I know this might change how you see me,”
“Nothing would change how I see you,” you interrupted. He ignored it.
“But you deserve to know,” he finished, and he glanced up at the sky for a moment. Then, he closed his eyes and you had a thousand different scenarios running through your mind. None good, not after seeing how much it seemed to pain him to tell you.
“I’m a werewolf,” he finally said under his breath, and this time you know he didn’t want you to hear him, but he needed you to.
“Is that all?”
“Is that - uh, yeah, that’s all. You’re not surprised?” He looked confused, his eyebrows furrowed in a perfect way, and he didn’t understand why you so willingly accepted it.
“I mean, kinda. But, why would that change anything? It’s not your fault. It would never change how I see you.”
After that, he can’t hold himself back. He finally lets himself kiss you, nothing stopping him at this point, and you’re glad he does. His hands softly cup your cheek, and yours quickly find their way to his hair. He acts like he’s trying to kiss away all of the pain he had caused, though you weren’t sure there was any anymore. The kiss is soft and sweet, with months of prolonged pining poured into it.
And then, a teardrop. At first, neither of you notice it, too captured by each other’s presence. But then, it starts pouring down rain, and that’s harder to ignore. He reluctantly pulls away, and your eyes shut at the sudden wetness.
“I guess you didn’t think to check the weather?” You questioned, voice raised a bit so that he could hear you over the downpour. He shook his head and you thought you heard a ‘sorry’ come from his mouth. You couldn’t help but laugh at his disappointed expression, and his head nearly snapped with as quick as he tried to look at you.
The both of you quickly got up, having to run inside to try and escape getting too soaked, though you assumed it was too late for that. After you managed to get inside, he turned to you with a small smile.
“I’m sorry I ruined our date.”
“Was it a date?” You asked, and he glared at you, making you grin. “Okay, kidding. But you didn’t ruin it. It was fun. Do you not like rain?”
“Not when I’m trying to kiss my longtime crush,” he joked, but he was happy you didn’t seem to mind.
“You can still kiss them,” you responded, and he didn’t have to take a moment to consider it. You were glad to give in, despite the feeling of your clothes sticking to your skin, which only got worse when he pressed to you. You could feel the raindrops dripping from his hair, and his hand was wet where it held your hip, but you didn’t care. You could feel sparks fly, and you knew all the pining had made this worth it.
“Lupin. Y/L/N. Go back to your rooms. And please, dry off before you sneak back in next time,” A voice came out loud, and you both felt a towel thrown at you. You pulled away to see Mcgonagall shaking her head at both of you before walking away. You grabbed the towel from the floor and turned to Remus, who was only smiling back at you, a lovesick look in his eyes.
“Totally worth it.”
I feel like Sirius Black was classically taught how to dance. Could you do a HC based on the reader not being good at it so when somone asks her to the yule ball infant of her friends she said no then tells the marauders she can't dance so she won't be going.
I Don't Dance... Or Do I?
Sirius Black x reader
Word count: 877
A/N: i turned this into a fic instead bc i was feeling the format more than a HC, hope you don't mind! it also turned out longer than expected lol
You love and hate the Yule season.
Love, because all the most gorgeous ballgowns go on sale, the excitement is palpable in the air, and the school grounds always resemble a winter wonderland straight out of a fairytale.
Hate, because the big event is a ball, and you can't dance.
Well, strictly speaking, you can. You're not very good at it, though; you always end up at least two steps behind your partner even when you swear you did everything exactly as all the other girls did. It's a sight, watching you flounder on the dance floor attempting to catch up, and it's a sight you refuse to give Hogwarts the pleasure of.
So usually, you skip the ball.
Or sometimes, you sneak in for a few minutes, just long enough to soak up the atmosphere before you go back to ensuring nobody asks you to dance. Which they can't if you're far, far away from the dance floor. The harder part, honestly, is coming up with reasons not to go if someone asks you to the ball.
This year is no different. You manage to dodge the few invitations you receive; your potential dates suffer the case of disappointment that so often accompanies (gentle) rejection, but you know they'll get over it. And as the Yule Ball grows ever closer, you're beginning to believe you're in the clear for yet another year. Your secret is safe, just as you wanted it to be.
Until someone asks you in front of your friends.
The boy—you can't even remember his name, that's how little you've spoken to him—takes your answer as expected, and while you do feel a twinge of guilt for turning him down like that, your fear of humiliation is stronger.
"You're not going to the ball?" Is this the first time your friends realize you aren't going? See you turn down a date to the biggest event of the winter season? Judging from their reaction and the three pairs of incredulous eyes on you, it probably is.
"No," you huff, sitting back down on the floor of the common room, where you'd been sitting when what's-his-name approached you, and you lean your head against Sirius' thigh. Sirius, who only smiles and pets your head affectionately from where he's taking up half the couch.
When you don't offer any further clarification, the boys share a look, and you swear you can pinpoint the moment they decide they want to hear the reason.
"Well, why on earth not? You love Yule, and as Sirius here always says, you'd look beautiful in a gown." James skillfully dodges the pillow Sirius throws at his head. Sirius concludes James has had too much practice dodging bludgers during Quidditch.
"Would you believe me if I said I just don't feel like going?"
The reason feels weak already on your tongue, and you gather from their similarly raised eyebrows that the answer is no. Darn it.
"You don't have to go," Remus starts, "but if you don't, we'd like to know why so we know you aren't missing on the fun over a small thing we could have helped with."
Fun. The Yule Ball does sound like fun, a lovely night off among all the beautifully dressed students and faculty alike, enjoying the decorations and the music and the atmosphere...
"I can't dance," you groan into Sirius' thigh before you can help yourself. "I can't dance, and it's a ball, and I don't want to humiliate myself in the middle of the dance floor."
Because the fear of the embarrassment far outweighs your desire to take part in the festivities.
"Is that all?" You look up for just long enough to see Remus' surprised expression, mixed with something that looks half-smug, the way he does whenever he wins complicated debates. "See, I knew it'd be something solveable. Just have Sirius teach you. Then you'll know how to dance, and you can come to the ball."
"Sirius?"
"Despite what you might think, princess, I am qualified to teach ballroom dancing. Or to take you to the ball. Or both," the boy in question chimes in with a wink. The disbelief must still be plain on your face, because he adds, "All members of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black are formally trained in more styles of formal dancing than I want to count. You've heard tales of my mother, do you really think she'd be able to live with anything less?"
That is a good point. Sometimes, it's easy to forget Sirius' high-society upbringing. And honestly, what do you have to lose?
"You'd really teach me?"
"Would the condition of going to the ball as my date be pushing my luck too far?"
That one, you don't even have to think about. Who wouldn't want to go to the ball on Sirius Black's arm?
"No, Siri," you laugh, using your hand on his leg to help you sit up. "But you better teach me properly."
"Don't worry, princess," he chuckles. "You won't be disappointed."
That evening, when you receive your first dance lesson from Sirius Black, you can only conclude he isn't as good a teacher as he made himself out to be.
He's better.
Secrets
Pairing: Remus Lupin + fem!reader
Word count: 1411
Summary: You and Remus have been together for a while. He's been keeping secrets and you've had enough.
Warnings: negative emotions? breaking up. angst with a happy ending
an: two marauders posts? is this beginning of an era?
hey! if you think this didn't completely suck, feel free to check out my masterlist.
Tumblr media
Remus this has been keeping secrets. The reason why I know this is because I know him, or at least I thought I did.
Even before we became official, I always knew that he was hiding something. His disappearances, his mother's illnesses, and his father's random need to need him back home. And even, dare I say it, his scars. I love them in every way. I don't believe that they are flaws like he does, instead, I believe that they only enhance his appearance. However, I do understand that it is unusual for a teenage boy to have them littered across all his body and his face starting from even his first year.
This thing that he had to hide, it never bothered me before. Maybe because I was spending less time with him or maybe because I didn't love him back then. Since we've become official about a year ago, I started to notice it a bit more since he will randomly be very opposed to going out at certain times. Or he would snap at me when we are simply studying together.
I always understood because I get it. His world isn’t supposed to revolve around me? He doesn't have to tell me everything but it's hard to be understanding when you don't really know what you're supposed to understand.
I never pressure him even though I know that it's eating me inside. Maybe they need to help him too, because every time he randomly disappears or goes to help his father, or check up on his mother. I feel like the shine in his eyes dims every time.
I want to help, I want to know what makes the boy I love hurt. I want to make it go away and maybe even fight it to do so.
What hurts me the most is that his friends know. James, Sirius and Peter, all all know, but he never once told his own girlfriend. I would try to find out myself, but I wouldn't want to invade his privacy. Instead, I wait for him to come to me, if he comes...
"Maybe we can go out next weekend instead." Remus suggests, and I frown, it's supposed to be this weekend, not any other one. I ask, "Why not this one?"
"I have-"
"Things to do, your father needs you, there's a prank you need to pull. What excuse are you going to give me this time?" I snap, I shouldn't have, but this weekend is important. If I'm being honest, I could've listed off all the excuses he's given me for hours. I had them all memorized.
"You don't need to act like this. I don't have to go out with you every weekend, we spend enough time together as it is. I don't have to explain myself, I said next weekend." He snaps, and a part of me feels like I deserve it for getting angry first, but I still feel the ache in my chest.
I gulp as I watch him gather his books in a huff and leave the library. When I can no longer see him, I cover my face with my hands and a few tears fall. I feel pathetic, but can you blame me for not wanting to spend our anniversary alone?
~~~
I'm going to talk to him, I'm going to find out what he's been hiding and we're going to talk about it because this is a relationship, he doesn't get to keep secrets as long as they effect me.
It's been a few days since I had that fight? with Remus. I've barely seen him around, but in a way, it helped me.
I first went insane trying to think of what he's been hiding. The possibilities of him cheating have come to mind several times, thinking about why, with who, and when, but ultimately I decided that Remus wouldn't cheat, at least I hope not.
Then came the idea that he might not love me anymore, but he's only told me that he did two months ago, so could he have loved me and then stopped so quickly? I didn't know, what I knew is that I did still love him, and if he didn't love me anymore, I'd rather not waste my time and postpone the heartbreak.
It was after breakfast, and I heard a few first years talking about how the famous Gryffindor boys (Remus, James, Sirius and Peter) were in the hospital wing. I assumed of course that it was because of a failed prank, wouldn't be the first time one of those happen.
I knew Remus was too smart to get involved in anything that could fail, so I assumed that he would be fine. I reached the hospital wing, and Peter's the first one that saw me. He tapped Sirius who looked at me, eyes went wide, then tapped James who had done a similar reaction.
Peter quickly closed the curtains around one bed, and they all came rushing to me, all of them, except Remus. I panic, I rush over to them, but they meet me half way and start turning me around the opposite way. I say, "Is Remus okay? why's he here? what happened?"
I sputter a lot more questions but they already have me out of the wing. They all look panicked possibly more than me. James speaks out first, he rubs a sheepish hand to the back of his neck and says, "Remus is fine, he just had a bit of a headache this morning."
"Well, if he's fine, then I can go see him." I say, and try to push past them, but they hold both my arms to steady me in place. Sirius says, "Yes, but uh- he doesn't want a lot of noise, so we can't let you go in there."
"And of course, when someone wants some peace and quiet they go to you guys." I say, pointedly and give them all unconvinced look because I was unconvinced. Why were they hiding my boyfriend from me? Unless...my boyfriend is the one that wanted to be hid from me. I frown, "Does Remus not want to see me?"
The boys stutter around and look at each other panicked, wondering what to say. They all begin sentences unsure, and it only makes my frown deepen, he doesn't want to see me. James says, "Of course, he wants to see you, just not right now."
Sirius elbows him when he notices my expression turn sadder after James' words. I nod my head and I feel my eyes begin to burn. No, I wasn't going to cry and especially not in front of them, they'd tell Remus in a flash. I take in a deep breath, and say, as steadily as I can, "Well, I wouldn't want to force myself on him, so, uh, tell him I hope he gets well soon, and that we need to talk."
I can see their faces change after I say those last few words. It wasn't a secret that 'we need to talk' was the beginning of every break up talk in the world, but I didn't want that to happen. I loved Remus, we just needed to improve our communication.
I head back to the common room, and on my way there, I can't think of anything else, but the fact that Remus didn't want to see me. My thoughts trace back to the idea that he doesn't love me anymore. They go downhill from there, and I ask myself, what if he really is cheating? Maybe he's too busy with another girl to notice the one he already has.
I bump into someone, and I notice who it is by the flaming red hair. Lily grabs my forearms to steady me and herself, making sure neither of us falls. She chuckles, "Sorry about that, I wasn't looking at where I was going- are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I say and I give her an unconvincing half assed smile. she frowns and I bitterly chuckle, "Things just haven't been going well with Remus lately."
She turns white and starts to fumble. She avoids my gaze and shifts on her feet. She stutters, "He's got a lot going on lately, he's been busy with...um stuff. I'm sure it'll be over in a few days."
"He told you." I say and it's a revelation that shocks me. He told Lily. He told James, Sirius, Peter and Lily, but not his girlfriend. She starts to fumble for excuses, but it doesn't matter because I already make my away past her and get to common room as fast as I can. I need to be alone.
Luckily, my dorm is empty. People have already gone to classes, but I don't think I can. My heart sinks and I can't believe that my boyfriend doesn't trust me with whatever secret he's got. I try to stop the tears that start flowing, but I cant.
He forgot our anniversary, and he's keeping secrets, secrets that he's told everyone close in his life, but me. A secret that he's been hiding for who knows how long. He doesn't want to see me either. I sob harder and I keep on asking myself what's going on in this relationship that is beneficial for me, and isn't' hurting me.
Maybe it's time that Remus and I break up.
~~~
"Hi, James told me that you wanted to talk." Remus says, two days later. He catches me right as I'm about to leave for another lesson. I check my watch, I have ten minutes before I need to get to class, maybe now's the time to do this.
"I do want to talk."
"James told me that it's going to be something bad, but I know you, I know us. I told him it was nothing." Remus chuckles and I feel myself getting guilty. I push that feeling away, I wasn't the one keeping secrets. I don't say anything in reply and Remus' grin fades.
"It's nothing, right?" Remus asks, with a frown. He takes a few more steps towards me, and I feel my heart race like it always does when he's near. I realize I won't be able to do this if he's any closer. I place a hand between us and he stops.
I hop on the desk, and I avoid his gaze. This should be simple I'm the one who decided, it isn't like he's the one ending this, I am. I look at him, take in a break then exhale. I say, "I think we should break up."
I didn't think anything could've hurt me more that what Remus has done to me, but the look on his face after I said those six words...nothing can describe it. I takes a step closer to me and I shuffle away. The pain becomes etched deeper into his face.
He still reaches out a hand and grabs mine. He looks up at me and his eyes water. He stutters, "B-but why? I love you. Don't you love me too?"
"Of course I do."
"Then why are you doing this? I don't want to break up. I don't ever want to break up. I actually think this happened in a nightmare before." Remus says, and his tears escape his eyes one by one. I say, "Because you're keeping things from me, Remus."
"I don't want to break up, but there's something going on with you, and you don't want to tell me about it-"
"I can't-"
"Yes you can, you very well could when you told James and Sirius. Peter and Lily, you told them all but not me. This isn't about you keeping something to yourself, this is about you trusting me." I explain, I sniffle, I didn't notice when I started crying. I say, "You even forgot our anniversary."
His face comforts with realization. He smacks a hand to his head, and he grips my hand with both of his and he squeezes. He pleads, "I'll make it up to you, please."
"That's not enough-"
"I'll spend every free moment I have with you."
I shake my head and lower my gaze to the floor. He says, "I'll buy you gifts, so many you won't be able to count them. Please, I don't want to lose you. I love you."
"I want you to tell me."
"I can't...you'll hate me." Remus says, and he looks down to the ground. I say, "You're losing me by not telling me."
He doesn't say anything, and I believe he's contemplating walking out right now. It would hurt, but it would make the getting over him process much easier. He takes in a deep breath, and he holds my hand tighter. I realize that he's going to tell me. He opens his mouth then closes it. I say, "Take your time."
"I-I'm a werewolf." Remus says, and I have to say, it makes sense. The scars, the attitude, everything. Even his disappearances happen on a monthly basis, it adds up in every way. I'm surprised, but it doesn't change anything. I say, "Okay."
"I tell you my biggest and possibly only secret and you're answer is okay." Remus says, and I nod my head. I shrug my shoulders and say, "What do you want me to say? It makes sense."
"I doesn't change the way you think of me." Remus asks, and I furrow my eyebrows. I hesitate before saying, "I think it makes you sexier."
"what?"
"You know, I just-" I stutter and flush pink, "It's just so brave that you go through that every month and you know these are kind of like your battle scars."
I smile sheepishly and trace on of the scars on his arms. He looks at me incredulously and he chuckles a bit. He repeats, "You think it makes me sexier? but werewolf are classified as monsters."
"You're a cute, sexy, book-loving, sock folding monster then." I chuckle and he does the same thing. He presses a kiss to my forehead and he wraps his arms around me in a big hug. I mutter, "I really wish you could've told me sooner."
"I didn't want you to hate me."
"I don't think I could ever hate you." I say, and he looks at me as if he doesn't believe me, I'll make him believe eventually. He lowers his head and places a smooth, loving kiss on my lips. He asks, "Am I forgiven?"
"Give me more of those kisses and then we'll talk."
