Happy Monday wonderful fandom :) I can’t believe we’ve reached the finale I’m in shock we're here. This has been my side hobby for 9 plus months. I started these to get through the extended hiatus. I wasn’t even sure anyone would even read them. The response I got was so lovely. I adore this fandom. So welcoming to any new Chenford content.
So thank you to everyone who’s read these especially those who've been with me since the very beginning. I can’t explain how much it has meant to me. Whether it was likes, reblogs or comments. Special shout out to my tumblr bestie @makeitastrength and @northern-neighbor You both commented on every single one of these. Thank you so much for your insight and sticking with me this entire time. Means more than you'll ever know.
I’m planning to do mini reviews during this new season. Then this same kind of thing during our hiatus hopefully we’ll have S7 locked in by then. *fingers crossed* I finished this before S6 which was my goal. We are only 8 days away which is unreal. Eeeee. Let us get started.
5x22 Under Siege
Tumblr media
This episode starts off with all kinds of anxiety. Aaron and Celina kill me with not calling the noise in WHY.... Why didn’t you call it in? Ugh. Celina lying on top of Aaron protecting him till they arrive. Rip my damn heart out right off the bat why don't ya? I’m going to cry. I love Tim and Lucy showing up to the scene together. They’re clearly off shift and showing up to the scene with each other. I love these little details they make my heart so happy.
They’re a packaged deal now and I couldn’t be happier about it. Also like to note looks like Lucy is wearing one of his jackets. Maybe they were at his place when they got the call? The sleeves look long on her and I adore it. Basically living together at this point. I can’t get over it. Just casually showing up to scenes now. Ain’t no thang. This thought is where I live till S6 LOL
Anyways Tim says he heard it was Aaron. Grey confirms this is true. GSW to the back. Looks like the same spot Jackson was shot. Eerily so. Three masked men and they were ambushed. The painful parallels to Jackson’s death in this one getting me in the feels. Grey has them start to work the scene. Lucy looks incredibly upset but is trying to keep it in check. Probably feeling the Jackson vibes too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our couple arrives at the hospital with an update. Once again arriving together. I love the quick looks we get as they approach. That silent communication of their's ever present. Also she is wearing the necklace I must comment. It’s popping against that shirt she is wearing. Like to also point out how look at each other while the other speaks. It’s the little things I love so very much. Getting massive 4x01 vibes from this scene too. Reminding me of the scene is Wes's living room night after the hug. The height difference, the way Lucy is looking at Tim as he speaks. United front power couple vibes.
So much can change and things like this stay the same I love it. They’re reporting back their CI’s have nothing. No one has heard back about a gang targeting cops. Lucy has also hit a dead end with the masks. Their next idea was Elijah but Tim says nothing out of prison confirming that. Angela and Wes are working on the riddle. Grey tells them to head home they’re not getting anywhere tonight. Once they've all left Grey turning to Luna saying he can lose another. Ugh getting me in the feels so early in this episode. More Jackson feels.
Tumblr media
Lucy and Tim get home late. The minute they’re back Lucy’s walls are down. Tim can see how upset she is. Another great callback to 4x01. To that hug. Only this time Lucy doesn’t have to ask for it. Tim seeks her out. See’s how now that they're home her work walls are down. She is visibly wrecked and can't hold back the tears any longer. I love how he pulls her right into his arms. Being the exact comfort she needs in this moment. He can't stand to see her upset. Wanting to make it better.
Tim grabbing her instantly is so lovely. Lucy crashes into him and falls apart. He gets to comfort as much as she needs now. How very far we’ve come. It’s been a beautiful journey to this point. Lucy is ready to fall apart in her safe place. Knowing Tim will be there pick up the pieces. Shield her from the PTSD this must be bringing up for her. I love how he encases her fully. One hand around her back the other gently cradling her head to his chest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim closing his eyes wanting to absorb her sadness. The swaying and his chin on top of her head. *squee* I love her being fully enclosed in his arms. Also never be over the fact Eric improvised the kiss to her head. Forever squeeing about that fact. Our ship King is the best. Oh captain my captain. How damn intimate and sweet it is as he does as such. Then resting his head back on hers. Telling her ‘It’s ok.’ His hand in her hair rubbing her back soothingly. I cannot. Lucy was alone last time. Grieved alone and dealt with everything solo.
Now she never has to be alone again and I wanna cry at that thought. Getting emotional at how beautiful this hug is. Lovely ray of sunshine in a rather dark finale. I love this scene so much it made my chest hurt. You want to see outstanding chemistry in a short amount of time? Watch this scene. Melissa and Eric are glorious together. We truly are so lucky to have them as our ship. This is such a soft and gentle moment.
Tim pulling her in and wanting to comfort her has me all in my feels. Lucy has this wonderful man to catch her when she falls now. To be able to absolutely come apart in his arms. Knowing he’ll be there to comfort and keep her together when she does. Gah I love them so much. Also A + to whoever does the music. The song in this moment is adding to the emotional depth of the scene. Amazingly good. It’s been so on point in this season. They need a raise whoever does this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They finally have some suspects to track down. Violent felons that have connection to the station and to them as a group. Lucy offers to check on one by herself. Grey says no and Tim offers to go with her. Because he loves her and wants to keep her in his sights. They’ve all been attacked at this point. Except for him and Lucy. No way he’s letting her go solo. It’s not cause he didn’t trust her to handle herself. He can’t handle her going alone. His instincts on high alert.
Lucy telling Tim he should be out knocking down doors with Metro. Tim tells her 'He’s good'. As good as he can be without letting her out of his sights during this. Only they could so effortlessly flirt while on duty. In the middle of an intense OP. Lucy letting him know she doesn’t need him to protect her. Tim is very aware of this. Says he knows. Lucy turning this moment into some very cute light banter. Saying he is telling her he needs the protecting. Tim being sassy right back with his reply above. God I love them.
Their teasing and banter is iconic. Lucy’s next line is fantastic. I know we haven’t had an official ILY you yet. But they’ve said it so many different ways this season. In moments such as this. When we do officially get it not gonna be a shock to either of them. Tim telling her 'Back at you.' Making me all emotional. They are such a power couple and the next portion of this episode proves that. I’ve always said watching them in the field is poetry in motion. This next battle scene is literal proof of such.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a good thing Tim came with her. I don’t want to think what would’ve happened if she’d been alone. The creepy crowd coming at them. My stomach dropped. First Tim willing to sacrifice himself for her so she could get away. *heart clutch* Man would die for her and not even blink in the decision making process. Lucy of course will not allow this whatsoever. Valiant or not he’s not falling on his sword for her.
We get a nice call back to 1x18. Not only with Lucy saying they need to go to higher ground. Like he taught her in that ep but to show no mercy. Tim instructing they hurt as many as they can and then retreat upstairs. Lucy getting exactly what he’s saying because they’re simpatico. This entire scene shows that. Also LOVE Lucy saying they only stand a chance TOGETHER. Theme of this season right here. They're better together. Damn right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What a bad ass battle couple we have. Look at this scene. Lucy calling the audibles in this moment and Tim following her play. Repeating it back and saying 'Copy that.' Gah I love this so very much. Tim trusts her gut without question. Not a doubt in his mind to go with it. The amount of respect he has for her in the field is immense. He was going to stay behind she said no. Then Tim instantly followed her lead after that.
Damnit I love them so much. Tim’s instinct is to always protect Lucy. Where her's is to protect them both in this moment. It’s never because he thinks she can’t handle it. Tim just can’t handle the idea of losing her if he doesn’t. Started from the bottom now we're here and I’m emotional. Also the song once again killer during this epic scene.
Love her touching his arm before they engage in battle in that first one. Look at them in the final two above. I know Eric said they had a blast filming this. They are so damn in-sync. It's such an amazing thing to watch them take these people on. Like I've sad many times before poetry in motion when they're in the field. I love getting to watch the well oiled machine that is them. This was that on steroids ha
Tumblr media
Eric was so excited for us to watch this scene and I can see why. It so fun to watch. Taking these guys apart together one at a time. I LOVE Lucy taking that guy out and then grabbing his riot shield. Tim is starting to get overwhelmed and she makes work of what's around her. Running towards Tim getting that guy off her man. With a very impressive shove might I add. Sends him flying down the stairs with the others. They have to start retreating up the stairs after this. They are slowly running out of ammo as well. Backup has yet to arrive and they're battling the best they can to stay alive till it does.
Tumblr media
Harper and Nolan finally arrive on scene. Nyla tells John to get to them. She is going to get her sniper rifle even the odds a bit. Unfortunately even with higher ground they’re getting ambushed from all sides now. It's now all melee combat at this point without ammo. Tim takes a guy out with pepper spray and gets a guy off his girl.
Who is literally choking the life out of her. Tim dispatches this guy with any remaining rage he has left. Smashing this guy's face into the wall. Making sure he can't get up to get back to her. All the while Harper being a bad ass snipping people left and right for Tim. This scene is epic af. I love it so much. One of my all time field scenes for sure. They did a damn good job with this holy cow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we get an other beautiful parallel from 1x01 to now. When Lucy pulled Tim to safety mid battle. We get to see Tim do the same for her. The way Tim scoops Lucy up and carries her to safety. I’m not crying you are.... Power couple since day one they just didn’t know it yet. The way he picks her up and then shields her with his body. Gah it’s so good.
When the door opens Tim is worried it’s another bad guy. He shields Lucy with his body. Ready to take a hit to keep her protected. Not willing to let them get at her again. I’m sobbing everyone. The instinct to always protect one another. I’m drowning in feels over here in the best way. Nolan ushers them to safety. Never been happier to see John Nolan in my life LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They make it to the stairway battered and bruised. Gasping for air as they try to recover from what just happened. Let’s look at the no space between them when they land on the stairs. Tim reaching out for her instantly. Placing his hand on her thigh checking on her. TWICE might I add. He touches her twice there. While checking around to make sure they’re truly safe. Lucy reaches out for his hand on the first touch. Also their heads touching as well in that first gif. Gah this mini moment has so much to it.
Tim is grounding himself in this moment through those touches. Making sure Lucy is breathing and he can stand down to catch his own breath. Such an intimate moment after an incredibly intense battle. He almost lost her so he is reaching out and making sure she’s ok. He also needs to touch her to settle himself. It was to tell her we’re ok now’s and to confirm to himself she was as well. Damnit it's so good. Don't tell me one of Tim’s biggest love languages isn’t physical touch. It for sure is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our last shot of the season for them. Just a BAMF couple post battle. Height difference that I love so much. The check in’s they do walking away knowing this could've been so much worse. Battle worn and bruised. These shots always hit harder knowing they’re together. I would like to think they would fuss over each other's wounds at the hospital. Or at home. We shall see what S6 brings for that if anything regarding it. If not sure someone will write a fic. LOL
The lack of personal space as they walk from the scene always floors me. As close they can possibly be at the moment. Sure Tim is thanking his lucky stars he came with her. I don’t wanna imagine what would’ve happened had he not. Or what Tim would’ve done had something happened. They looks so exhausted they’ve earned a good snuggle and some alone time. Sadly they're still in the middle of case so that's a no go.
Look at our power couple everyone. They're ours. We get to have them. And have a season to look forward to. I was so nervous about the season ending. Knowing this strike could last a long time and it did. Luckily we are coming out of it. Light is at the end of the tunnel. Looking forward to S6 and all the squeeing to come with it.

Side notes non-Chenford
This episode one giant stress. One of them being when they try and take Harper’s daughter. The panic in my soul for her. My goodness this finale was great.
All of Celina's scene with Aaron pulling at my feels as well.
Thank you everyone once again who supported these reviews. They started out as a way to fill time between S5 and S6. Became a truly fun hobby for me. Kinda sad the ride is over but like I said at the beginning I’ll do mini reviews each week for s6 won’t be rid of that easily ❤️❤️ Can’t wait to delve in S6 with you all :)

Favourite chenford scene so far & why?
this is so hard, there are so many to choose from! lmao. i have to do two because that’s what i could narrow it down to, pre-canon and canon:
pre-canon
2x11 has a special place in my angst filled heart - tim finding lucy, digging her out with his bare hands, pulling her out of the barrel, and bringing her back to life altered my brain chemistry. the entire episode was so good but that scene in particular like the build up to it was beautiful and so crucial to how it pivoted chenford’s trajectory. i think that this was the scene where you could really tell how much they cared about each other and how it was so much more than a rookie/t.o. relationship. i don’t think there were romantic feelings there yet but i do think that it set the foundation for them to get where they’re at. i think it was crucial for tim to find her giving how guilty he was and how we saw that he would stop at nothing to get lucy back. the entire montage of how he sees the ring in the middle of the desert and he knows it doesn’t belong, the fact that he goes to it and picks it up and knows it’s hers. that just sticks out to me so much because it’s not like she wore it on duty like the couple of times i saw her wear it prior to 2x11 was always off shift so he must have seen her wearing it while they weren’t on duty and up until then, it wasn’t like they spent as much time together off the clock? and he’s digging with his bare hands. they all are at first but then someone brings a few shovels and he continues to dig like the desperation he must feel knowing that she’s underground and locked in the barrel that he can’t even stop for a minute to grab a tool which may make it easier for him. the fact that he’s the one who pulls lucy out like it feels almost full circle to the begging of the episode in a way because while all of them were worried about her, i’d argue that he was the one who showed the most concern or seemed the most affected. and she’s gone like they don’t get to her in time but he brings her back. he holds her and keeps her safe as completely falls apart.
canon
this was hard to narrow down because i have loved every single chenford canon moment but i think i have to go with 5x20, that last scene with them on the couch. i'm such a sucker for tim and lucy comforting each other so it was really sweet to see them do that. but also, that scene just had so much weight to it?? they both said so much without actually saying anything. the fact that it started with lucy admitting she's worried about tim if she goes deep undercover despite the fact that she's the one who we've seen react so sadly every time tim brings up how their professional careers might have them seeing each other less. but the moment she actually says this, it's like they finally (somewhat) address the (new) elephant in the room because up until this point tim has been nothing but supportive - and he still is but you can see in his reaction once he pulls her in, how hard he's trying. the way he sighs, how his hand strokes her thigh, the way he closes his eyes and shakes his head because something came to mind and he has to brush it off. lucy's reaction is just as important too. the way she touches her chin reminded me so much of 4x01 when tim let go after the hug and she was so conflicted. i think she's just as conflicted now. i think that the reason i really loved this scene is because of how they're reaching a boiling point. they've been in this absolute bliss these last couple of months and while they still are, they're also realizing that there's a reality in front of them that they can't quite ignore. i really liked that scene bc a. chenford canon angst which we haven't really seen but b. it felt like it was laying the groundwork for what's to come because clearly the resolution to this is missing and i am excited for it because at the end of the day, they'll be okay, but it will be interesting to see how it fleshes out.

Saw requests were open so here I am! 😊
I’d love to request headcannons of the Demon Brothers + Undatables (If you can, if not you can just do the Brothers) from Obey Me reacting to an MC that has Galaxy eyes. Their eyes are a glossy purple-blue, they have star-like pupils that changes patterns everytime they blink, and rather than blush red; They blush purple and get mini constellations across their face and ears. If they cry, their tears are hella sparkly too! MC has baby pictures/family photos to prove their eyes are natural and run in the family.
YOOOO!! As someone who has zodiac sign related OCs, and that loves the stars, this is such a wonderful prompt~❤️
Since this involves many characters, it’ll be under the cut and slightly shorter per character than previous hcs, but hopefully still enjoyable
HEADS UP! This includes spoilers for lessons ~14-15 (and has yandere themes in someone's belphie's part)
Here you go, luv!
-- -- --
OVERVIEW
Alright, so it’s a little obvious all the character are surprised with the looks of this human
Some are easier to convince it’s natural, while others think it’s a product of permanent magic/demon contracts
Needless to say, all of them get lost in MC’s eyes
All of them try to make them blush or cry, in their own special ways, to see their full beauty
💙👿 Lucifer 🖋️
“Apologies if my stare unsettles you.” He took their hand and placed a kiss upon their knuckles, “Your eyes are simply magnificent. I find myself unable to look away.”
The first thing that crosses Luci’s mind when he meets them is  “Which demon did they sign a contract with to look like that?”
I think this one will try to fight back the urge to stare at them and be mesmerized by their beauty
Eventually, he just gives up and lets his eyes wander to their face and examine the sparkling stars
Whether he does it on purpose or not, Lucifer makes MC blush that lovely shade of wine purple. Always a gift to see the constellations that show up in their dark flush
Likes to stroke their face, especially run his thumb along their cheek and try to feel the shining lights on their skin
Will try to point out the constellations and stars he recognizes
💛😈 Mammon 💰💸
“Whu-? Huh?! No, no! Absolutely not! I-I wasn’t looking at ya because of the shining stars in your eyes… but, uh… Could ya maybe look into my eyes for a moment? Please?”
Oh god… when Mammon meets them, one and only one thought crosses his mind: If human limbs were already sought after in the Devildom market… How much money would this LIVE human with stars in their eyes cost?
(yup, let’s face it, folks… Mammon may be one of the very first sweethearts we see in game, but he’s still a demon, one very greedy demon)
Just let him see their tears. Boy, may any omnipotent force help them because he WILL try to make them cry just to see how much demons, witches and wizards pay for their sparkly tears
But then~ Whatever was left of his tender angel heart crumbled when he succeeded the first time. Never did it again and never collected any tears to sell
Mammon likes to explore their skin for more constellations. Arms, hands, shoulders, legs, feet, neck, anything they allow to touch!
What he loves most? Making them cry out of laughter and seeing little glittering drops roll down their cheeks, which he then proceeds to wipe away
Always gets lost in their eyes, but denies he was staring
🧡👿 Leviathan 🎮
“You’re just like an anime character! Wait, could it be that.. the author was inspired by your ancestor?!”
BOY OH BOY LEVI’S ELATED
Seriously, once his contract’s done and he accepts them into his room, he won’t ever stop examining their cheeks and eyes (with respect, of course, he knows how weird and uncomfortable it is to be observed so intently)
You know the first thing he did was introduce them to his anime characters that have features similar to them
GUESS WHAT??? HE ADORES WHEN THEY LIGHT UP HIS ROOM WITH THEIR CONSTELLATIONS!
Makes sure to watch super cheesy lovely shoujo, romantic, and cute anime/movies just so he can see how the blush darkens their cheeks and ears
Levi already zoned out when watching Henry’s big aquarium, he 100% does so too when watching the patterns in their eyes shift with each blink
The otaku musters all his courage, when feeling brave enough, to place a kiss on their cheeks bc they’re just too adorable (both proceed to flush deep red/purple)
💚 Satan 👿📖
“Wonderful… Thank you for showing me the night sky. It’s even more breathtaking when through your eyes.”
Alright, there are pictures that prove it’s all natural… but, where are the written records of space-filled humans? He gets to researching (if he finds proof or not, I leave it up to you)
Regardless, they’re an enigma to him, and he’d love to keep observing you up close
Oh, if only he could read and look at their face at the same time~
Satan may or may not have a secret notebook in which he records different occurrences that happened with MC and how he would describe their unique beauty in that moment
Many of his books and encyclopedias have maps of the sky, he’s taken up some constellations (which he points out, just like Lucifer pls don’t k word me satan)
I swear, this boy… Wants to see their beauty immortalized in writing, described in only the most wonderful ways by his favorite authors (“An honest opinion, your allure deserves to be eternally portrayed in books so every living being can imagine what splendor the world holds.”)
Hard for him to pick a favorite aspect of theirs, but he certainly is very curious what genes caused such phenotype
💗😈 Asmodeus 💋🦂
“That’s not fair! How am I to compete with someone with galaxy eyes?! S-Surely, we’re both ethereal in our own ways? ...But I’m clearly still #1!”
B O Y
One would think his first instinct was to try and seduce them… but oh no, no! For a moment there, Asmo thought he was Levi, feeling pure raw jealousy and envy at their magnificent eyes and glowing skin
He acted sweet and flirty just so his brothers wouldn’t suspect anything, but he felt terrible boiling magma in his stomach (why was he, a former angel, not blessed with looks as mesmerizing as theirs?)
It all changed once Asmo saw them awkwardly walk through RAD’s halls, littered with demons staring at their peculiar skin. Unwanted looks, intense stares, all of them varying in degrees of judgement. He remembered his first days as a demon, as a lust demon, how he disliked the stares at first. (“Looks like we’re not so different after all…”)
He went to their side, making light talk to take their attention off the stares. A human’s blush was never this beautiful before.
It was then when he became a little obsessed with throwing compliments their way to see the tips of their ears turn purple with little glittering spots
Asmodeus would adore to explore their entire body. Like, really, he wonders if their other… parts prone to blood rushes have the same purple tint
Allow him and he’ll cover every single little star on their skin with kisses
Asmo went from despising them to adoring every bit of them, but if he has to pick, their skin is his favorite
❤️👿 Beelzebub 🍔🤤
“Blink… Blink again… Once more... “ A very tender smile graced his lips, “Belphie would definitely adore your eyes.”
“But for me,” He wrapped his arms around them and lifted them up the ground, “Your blush whenever I hold you close is my favorite!”
Like, really peeps, Beel immediately remembers his twin’s fascination with stars and the night sky when his eyes land on MC
It’s strange, but he feels at peace whenever this star filled human is with him
Beel isn't much to care for looks, but wow… this is one very interesting human
When you guys were helping Luke, he definitely stared at the flickering lights on their cheeks and ears to find sleep (and in that moment, he felt Belphie's and Lilith's calming presence with him once more)
They once cried of laughter due to some food incident, and WOW that is so pretty
May or may not have asked them if he could taste their tears asdfgjdi "They look tasty"
Always tries to surprise them with food and hugs once he noticed they blush constellations
Probably the only thing able to make him eat slower is watching the shifting starts in their eyes
💜👿 Belphegor 🛏️💤
"I...uhm…" He blushed lightly, "[Name], could you please look at me? Stars are my favorite...and you, your eyes..." Belphegor is at a total loss of words at the magic in their stare.
I'm going to delve into that before we get to the fluff so
SPOILERS FOR LESSON 16 / YANDERE BELPHIE AHEAD
Sure, he loved their eyes once he saw stars in them...but they are human
Boy, oh boy, did he ENJOY wholeheartedly seeing those glittering tears roll down their face as he took their life
"Say… Would you mind me taking your eyes out to keep as mine? They'll surely look nice hanging from my headboard"
"Is your blood star filled too? Let us see!"
Such a shame that it was a human who was blessed with such wonderful features~
END OF YANDERE (spoilers for other lessons continue)
After learning they're Lilith's descendant, he wonders if their stars are product of her angelic lineage
"Sister… is this your way of telling me to be happy? Bringing a human that is so kind and pretty into my life?"   "You filled them with the stars I love so much… Thank you"
What DOESN'T he love about them? Eyes, cheeks, skin, all the flickering stars and shades of blue-purple they blush in, their pupils and eye color
But out of it all, he adores looking at their eyes as he falls asleep
Also likes to trace the stars on their skin, be it forming constellations or in random patterns
Tickle wars happen with him, Beel and MC to see the glittering liquid from how hard they're laughing
I seriously cannot express how much Belphie's in love with this whole human    Fun, caring, intelligent, kind, adventurous, and just… plain perfect
😈 Lord Diavolo 👑
"I was not 'blessed' like the brothers to see clear skies in the Celestial Realm, and it's uncommon for me to go up into the human world." Diavolo sat close to them as Barbatos left after serving tea. "But I can say I'm far more blessed with you here to show me the stars." A handsome smile shaped his lips, widening after they blushed.
Honestly, Diavolo is hard to pin for me
Sure, he gets surprised by the human's looks, but welcomes them with open arms regardless
Actually enjoys their company because he gets to see a little piece of the night sky he gets to see very few times
When they show him their baby pictures to prove it's all natural and real, the Prince will take to share some of his own (just ‘cuz, to bond)
He likes to make them laugh, if not to see the small shining tears, to see their face flush dark purple and show constellations
Their presence is calming
He sometimes comes with the request of sitting together so he can see their starry eyes to help him settle down and relax
😈 Barbatos ☕
"These are very particular features… Perhaps I should visit the past to know what led to this?" The butler pondered. "No, I certainly wouldn't like my actions to alter timelines and prevent you from being here." A polite, yet teasing, smirk came to his face.
Like Satan, Barbatos would want to find written records of the existence of other starry humans
Very curious what caused this in a human, but he himself hypothesizes it's due to the angelic lineage
Likes to say flirty things to make them flush, he chuckles every time
Is very interested to see the magical potential their tears have for potions and protection charms
Curious to see if their tears can be used in food preparations (thinks his special tea would look even better with some of their tears added to it)
With how his ability is time travel, Barbatos likes to (privately) call himself Time while he dubs MC Space
He likes their blushes most
😇 Simeon 📖
"If only I had met you sooner, I would've included you in my books. Your character would've been adored by many; not just because of appearance, but also due to your kind heart."
Simeon likes that there's a little piece of sky here with him
He's also one to wonder if their looks are due to Lilith's blood, will have to do some research back in the Celestial Realm
Is always complimenting their eyes
Half expected their eyes to reflect the actual sky at different hours (dawn, evening, dusk, sundown, etc.)
Whenever he stumbles upon a cute star or moon shaped accessory or sweater, he buys it as a gift for them
Likes their eyes the most. He's an angel and has seen many interesting pairs of eyes in his heavenly siblings, but none as breathtaking as theirs
His time writing TSL may be coming to an end, but poetry is always an option to share his admiration for MC with the world~
😇 Luke 🧁🎂
"Hey hey! Michael used to say my eyes look like sunrise!" The small one exclaimed with a big smile, "I'm dawn and you're the night!" Luke giggled.
OMG, THIS CUTIE 🥺💕
Forgive him for staring longer than is welcomed, he's just very amazed by their looks!
He's seen angels with sparkles in their hair and wings, but to see a human with stars and night sky on their skin!!! Is fascinating!
Luke is very grateful to have met MC, he just feels super blessed to know someone as unique as them!
Will use them as inspiration for cookie and cake decorating
Another one curious about what their tears can add to desserts
But don't worry! So long as MC is in his line of sight, he will not allow a single tear to be shed!
To make sure no demon endangers them, this little angel will do his best to protect MC!
He adores their eyes and always asks to look at them ("You can look at mine in return! And see the daybreak Michael sees in them!")
🧙🏻‍♂️ Solomon 🔮
"Oh? What is this I see, a rival?" The wizard chuckled, "We can share the starry sky aesthetic, I don't mind."
SPACE 🤝 AESTHETIC 🤝🤝🤝
He immediately fires a lot of questions their way to find as much information as he can about their looks, magical power, and magical properties of their peculiar features
While the rest just wonder what their tears can do, Solomon is the fearless soul to actually ask for a sample to conduct tests with
If they become close, Solomon will find a way to preserve one of their tears to carry with him at all times
Yup, you guessed it! His favorite feature is their tears
...he makes them shed quite the handful with the cooking he gives as thanks for the samples lol
This one wonders if they are also star filled on the inside...as in, their tissues and organs (and blood)
But worry not, unless he’s given permission, Solomon will keep his hands to himself

Roses are Red
Book: The Nanny Affair
Pairing: Sam Dalton x Anna Schuyler/Mason & Mickey and Anna Schuyler (friendship)
All characters belong to Pixelberry.
Rating: PG (pure fluff, but it’s Sam, so he makes some allusions to things)
Word Count: 1,161
Notes: I wanted to make a Valentine’s fic. You’d think, with my writing history, I would have written something in the Royal Romance world, but the only inspiration that came to me was this Nanny Affair fluff. I know it’s also weird that it’s fluff and not smut, but fuck it, who am I to conform to expectations? It’s not much, just a little idea that popped into my head last night.
Tags: Got them below! Since my main tag list is for TRR stuff, I’m only tagging my TNA fam (if I missed you, I love you and I’m sorry I’m the worst 😘). If you’d like to be added to any future TNA fics I may (or may not) write, just let me know!
Tumblr media
As Anna approached Mason & Mickey’s bedroom door she noticed a sign taped to it ‘Do Not Enter’. She was afraid of what experiments might be waiting for her on the other side, but their grandparents would be by shortly to pick them up for their sleepover, so she was going to need to overlook the prominently displayed new rule. She knocked on the door, and was quickly greeted by Mickey’s head, he made sure to keep the door closed enough that Anna couldn’t see in.
“Hi Anna, what’s up?”
“What are the two of you doing in there?” She eyed him suspiciously.
“Nothing, we’re just working on a...project. Yea, a project.”
The uncertainty in his voice did little to squash the uneasy feeling Anna had. “You know your grandparents are going to be here soon. Did you finish packing your overnight bags?” She tried to peek past Mickey to catch a glimpse of what was happening, with no luck.
“Oh...um, no. We didn’t do it yet, we’ve been really busy with our project.”
“Alright, enough games. Mickey, you need to let me in here to see what you boys are up to.”
“No, not yet we’re almost -“
“It’s ok Mickey, I finished. She can come in!” Mason interrupted his brother from the other side of the door.
Mickey opened the door and stepped aside so Anna could enter. As soon as she crossed the threshold she was greeted by an assault of glitter and construction paper littered all around the room. “Boys, what is all of this? This is one of your messiest experiments yet.”
Anna had known the boys for just about a year, when she came into their lives, she was their nanny. In the months to follow, she entered a whirlwind affair and subsequent romance with their father, Sam Dalton. It had been 6 months since Sam left Sofia at the altar and rushed, with the boys, to the airport to stop her from disappearing from their lives forever. They had been a family ever since. While Anna wasn’t on the payroll anymore, it didn’t seem appropriate once she officially became Sam’s girlfriend, she still took care of the boys just the way she had before. Before Anna had met the twins, she didn’t have much experience with kids. She figured working for the CMO of Dalton Enterprises, in any capacity, would be a foot in the door to her career as a chemist. Then she met Mason and Mickey, and she was so taken by their excitement and enthusiasm to learn and experiment, and she knew that was exactly where she needed to be.
“It’s not an experiment Anna, it’s for you!” Mason took her hand and guided her to the table on the other side of the room, motioning for her to sit. “Ok, now close your eyes”
Anna did as she was instructed and put her hands over her eyes. She could hear some shuffling around, and shook her head, picturing Mickey and Mason shoving each other around trying to get in place.
“Ok, open them!” The twins said in unison.
Anna opened her eyes to see the boys holding up a large piece of red paper covered in glitter and lace and hearts. “What’s all this?”
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” They handed the card to Anna.
She red the card:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
We’re glad our dad loves you
Because we love you too
“Boys. You did this for me?” Anna looked up at them with a bright smile that the boys matched as they nodded their heads. “You didn’t have to do this.”
“Yes we did.” Mason said matter of factly. “Dad says that on Valentine’s Day, you’re supposed to show the special people in your life how important they are to you. Besides dad, you’re the most special person we have.”
Anna’s eyes began to well, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
“We’re sorry Anna, we didn’t mean to make you sad! This was supposed to make you happy!” Mickey was very concerned, and couldn’t understand how their plan could have backfired so spectacularly.
“Yea, if you’re upset about the mess, I promise we will clean it up all by ourselves. You don’t have to do any of it!” Mason added.
Anna laughed as she shook her head and wiped away another tear. “No boys, these are happy tears. I’m so honored that you would work so hard on this just for me. I love you both so much.” She held her arms open and the boys ran straight for her, engulfing her in a hug.
“Well, I guess I’m going to have to up my Valentine’s Day game if I’m going to compete with all of this.” The three of them turned their heads to the doorway and saw Sam leaning against the frame with his arms crossed.
“I don’t know, I’ve already got two guys that want to be my valentine, I might not have room for a third.” She smirked as she rose from her seat and walked toward Sam.
“I’m sure I can convince you.” He put his arms around her waist and pulled her in for a quick kiss before leaning in to whisper in her ear. “After what I plan to do to you tonight, I have a feeling I’ll be able to convince you that the sky is green.”
The warmth of his breath mixed with the feeling of his lips brushing against her ear sent a tingle down Anna’s spine. Sam could tell, and had a sly grin on his face as he pulled back. Winking at her before turning his attention to Mason and Mickey. “Boys, your grandparents just got here. Why don’t you go keep them company while Anna and I get your things together?”
“Sure, dad!” The boys ran out into the living room, leaving Sam and Anna alone.
“You pack for Mason, I’ll get Mickey.” Sam kissed her again and led her into the twin’s room. “Let’s get them out of here so I can finally have you all to myself.”
“We’re going to have to clean up all of this first.” She gestured to the glittery mess that covered the space.
“Says who? The boys can clean all this up when they get home tomorrow.” Sam pulled her close and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. “I don’t want to delay our Valentine’s date a moment longer than I have to.”
“You know, the boys set the bar pretty high with that card.” Anna raised one eyebrow.
“Oh I know, I saw the whole thing. Don’t worry, I’m sure I can rise to the challenge.” He replied with a wink.
She laughed, slapping his chest playfully. “Alright Dalton, enough of that, let’s get the boys packed and out of here.”
They separated and continued to pack for the twin’s overnight trip, so that they could spend the first of many Valentine’s Days together.

Love finds a way - Edmund Pevensie x reader (one shot)
Thought I'd do a one shot for Edmund. I know its not been that long, but I missed writing again. I hope you all enjoy this! ❤️
Warnings :- none
Fluff 💕
Late. That's what I was. Late.
I was running as fast as my legs could take me. My friends and I had planned a picnic since it was finally the weekend. And today of all days, I just HAD to wake up late.
Finally arriving at the park I bent down hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath.
Looking around I tried to spot my friends.
"Y/N!! OVER HEREEE!!!" I glanced behind me, to see my friends waving me over.
Jogging upto them I gave them a lazy smile.
"Hey y/n!!" Julie chirped, skipping towards me and pulling me into her embrace.
"Wow... well somebody looks like she ran the Olympics," Kyle laughed. "And look those eye bags."
I rolled my eyes taking a seat next to him, "oh why don't you just shut up." At this he poked my side. "Hey don't snap at me! I was just messing around y/nnn!!" he whined flinging his arm over my shoulder. Lips in a pout. I couldn't help but laugh ruffling his hair.
Julie gave me a soft smile, "had a long night?" I nodded my head in response. She scooted next to me leaning her head on my shoulder, "don't overwork yourself sweetie." By now, the two knew me like an open book. So it was easy for them to know how I feel in just seconds.
Kyle nudged me, "yes, it's the weekend! Lighten up girl! We're free from school work and you, from the student council. Now it's just time for you, me and Julie."
He interlocked hands with mine and Julie. I smiled, "thank you.. you always know how to cheer me up." Honestly I couldn't be more thankful.
Julie pinched my cheek scooting in front of us, "so what do you guys want to do??"
I shrugged. "I'm hungry.." I eyed Kyle who was rubbing his stomach.
Julie furrowed her eyebrows, "Seriously? Kyle, we just got here and the first thing you want to do is eat??
"Well, I don't know Jules!! It's called a picnic for a reason you know? You come and you eat. By the way, where is the food?" he raised an eyebrow.
"You don't just come and eat!! The food will be brought out at the right time!" she snapped back.
This was not anything new of course. It was part of our friendship to argue like this. It was obviously all fun and jokes. I smiled to myself, watching my friends bicker. That is, until someone else caught my attention.
To be more precise, him.
And by him I mean Edmund. I had got to know him through Kyle and ended up catching feelings for the boy.
Kyle on the other hand predicted this would happen and was literally celebrating the day I admitted it. But even though I had met him a couple of times, we had never really had a proper conversation apart from the regular 'hi's and byes'.
Well back to the present situation. He was sitting a little further away from our spot, along with his mother and his siblings; clad in a pale blue shirt and brown jeans. Short brown wavy locks blowing lightly in the wind.
He began to laugh at something someone said and oh God was it adorable. I couldn't take my eyes off him, not that this was anything new. I was so busy admiring him, I hadn't even realised that my friends had stopped their bickering trying to grab my attention.
I only snapped back into my senses the second the the boy locked eyes with mine. He gave me a soft smile waving at me and for some reason I looked away at once, feeling the heat rise upto my cheeks. Facepalm.
Y/n you're supposed to wave back.
"Y/N?" Julie placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Huh, yes? I'm sorry I-I umm" I cleared my throat, "I wasn't following.." My gaze instinctively flickering towards his direction and back at my friends.
This of course not going unnoticed by them. Specially Julie, as she was sitting right infront of me.
Following my gaze she looked back at me with a smirk, "oh I see what's going on here."
Oh no.
Kyle glanced between us tilting his head in confusion, "I- I don't think I'm following.."
Julie chuckled shuffling to the side to give Kyle a proper view, not so subtly pointing towards him. Now realising what was going on, the once confused look was replaced with a sly grin.
He eyed me wiggling his eyebrows, "ooh lala.. I didn't know Edmund was here." The two exchanged mischievous looks. I had mentally prepared myself for the teasing already.
"Oh y/n... this is just ridiculous! Would you just stop staring at him like that and just go talk to him for once?" Julie nudged me.
"She's right you know.. you've been crushing on him for ages now. And all you do is stare. Try to make conversation!" I could only look down in embarrassment, blushing wildly. Normally I'd brush it off, but now that he's right there I just can't.
"Y/N! HE'S LOOKING THIS WAY!" Kyle whisper-yelled waving at them.
Almost immediately my eyes shifted back towards him. He was indeed looking this way, my gaze locking with his. This time mustering all the courage in my body I waved back at him, to which he returned a smile.
"Awww," Kyle poked my cheeks. "Our little y/n is in loooooove!!!"
Julie scooted over next to Kyle grabbing his hands, "don't do that Kyle!! He might get the wrong idea and think you both are a thing." He widened his eyes and dramatically pulled away.
"Oh come on you guys.. don't be silly," I mumbled under my breath but loud enough for them to hear.
"What do you mean don't be silly?" Kyle raised his eyebrows. "You can't fool us, we know you're totally whipped for the boy!"
"What? NO! That's ridiculous.. I-I- he doesn't even know me to begin with."
"Yeah you know that won't work anymore since you said it yourself that you like him.." Kyle grinned.
"And not all love stories begin with two people knowing eachother you know?" My face began to heat up at the mention of 'love'. Julie continued. "Also come on, it's so obvious he likes you too."
"Does not.." I sighed.
"OF COURSE HE DOES! Have you noticed the million times the boy tries to make conversation with you and how he looks at you?! Only for you to be a coward and find someway to avoid him. Don't even make me bring back the school talent show incident."
I shuddered just hearing her say it.
>> Flashback <<
The school's annual talent show.
My friends and I were performing a song, and Julie just had to suggest that we wear heels. Me being the person who had never worn heels before, tried my best not to fall face forward. But I suppose luck was just not on my side today.
Kyle had helped me backstage, way before the event even began. Which I found a little wierd, since there was so much time and I could've just stayed in the waiting room. He held my hand all the way so he could keep me from tripping.
The day before the show, I had been ranting about how excited I was to see Edmund, and that's when Kyle had got a little idea at the back of his mind.
That leaves us here; we were backstage. "Thank you Kyle.." he smiled at me. "Anything for my beautiful best friend." I blushed at his words nudging him, "oh shush.."
He smirked at me.
"Umm.. Kyle? W-whats with that look?" he laughed, "I'm supposing someone would be really happy to see you today."
That's when it clicked me. This is why he brought me here this early. Heart beginning to race, I scanned my surroundings immediately and that's when I spotted him.
Oh lord.
Edmund smiled making his way towards us. I gasped and quickly began working on an escape plan. Seeing the back door just on Kyle's opposite, I decided to make a run for it. I was just too shy.
"Hey Kyle, hey Y/N!"
"Oh hey Ed! Y/N was just waiting to see yo-" Kyle trailed off processing the situation, "Y/N NOOO!! COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!"
Yep. I made a run for it.
But remember when I said luck wasn't on my side today? Well yes, I managed to trip. I guess I kind of expected this; because how could a person who has never walked in heels before, ever be able to run in them?
I tripped and toppled over into a basket of clothes. Thank god it was big enough, or else who knows what worse things would've happened.
Kyle running upto me and helping me up while Edmund made his way towards us. I could hear the children around me laughing. All I could do was look away in embarrassment. Kicking off my heels I pushed past Kyle before Ed could reach us and rushed out of the hall. Oh that is, before glaring at Kyle.
End of flashback
Julie leaned back to the tree, "I don't see the point of you looking at eachother but not making a move for it." Kyle nodded in agreement, "though Edmund is trying.."
I looked back in his direction. I've got to admit, she does have a point. But I guess this comes with my anxiety. The reason why I cannot resist getting embarrassed and trying to run away. Thinking I'd get flustered, say something dumb and make a fool of myself.
Kyle abruptly stood up, waving at them. "Let's go over to them."
They looked our way waving at us.
Oh no. This is not good.
Peter, the oldest, stood up immediately motioning them to follow him. He began to jog in our direction, Edmund right at his feet.
Feeling like my heart would rip out of my chest I stood up by instinct only to be pulled back by Kyle. Giving me a devilish smirk he whispered into my ear, "oh no y/n.. not this time."
"Hey there!" Peter exclaimed. "We didn't notice you lot here until Edmund told us."
Kyle laughed, "neither did we.. it's great to see you all here." The boys busy engaging in a conversation of their own, I tried to keep my eyes away Edmund.
Lucy and Susan waved at Julie and I, coming over to start up a conversation. While talking I couldn't help but notice Edmund, Peter and Kyle sneaking glances in my direction. I was fighting to hold back the blush rising upto my cheeks. Deciding to brush it off, I listened to what the girls had to say.
"It's so great to see you after so long y/n!" Lucy gave me a hug. Hugging her back I smiled softly, "I'm sorry I couldn't come see you both sooner.. my schedules been so packed lately."
Susan nodded her head, "I heard. The student council has a lot of work going on at the moment." She placed a hand on my shoulder giving me a warm smile, "don't stress yourself y/n.."
Susan and Lu have always been like sisters to me even though I wasn't that close to Peter and Edmund. Hearing Susan's words really made me feel so much better.
A short timeskip (😂) >>>
"Excuse me girls, Y/n.. could I have a word with you?" Kyle interrupted. I nodded my head excusing myself and following him.
"Where are we going Kyle?"
He kept silent eyes focused ahead of him.
"Kyle???" I grabbed onto his arm, "where are you taking meee??" I whined.
"Just follow me.. I have something to tell you," I noticed how he tried to hold back a smile.
Walking further away from our friends we stopped by the water fountain. "Did we have to come this far?" He swiftly turned around to face me at once giving me a sharp gaze; me jumping back in shock at the action.
"Edmund likes you."
"What?" Did I just hear him say what I think he said? I'm pretty sure I'm just hearing things now. Maybe it's because Edmund was with us.
"Edmund likes you," he repeated emphasising his words. I scanned his face trying to see if he was joking or not.
He had to be messing with me right now. There's no way Edmund would like me.
I faked a laugh at him rolling my eyes, "haha very funny.."
"Y/n I'm not joking okay? He told me.. he really did," Kyle looked at me with a straight face. It looked rather believable but what if he was just joking?
Okay I can't take this anymore. At this point, he's messing with my feelings.
"Listen, Kyle.. I'm not buying this okay? If this is your way in pulling a prank on me. I'm not listening." Not wanting to hear anymore of this I turned around, getting ready to leave. But a strong grip on my wrist held me from leaving.
"Kyle no..." I trailed off, turning around to face him I widened my eyes in shock.
Now in Kyle's place stood Edmund.
I jumped backwards letting out a little yelp, "Edmund I-I." Looking around me I saw that Kyle had made his way away from us; pulling a thumbs up at me. I did not expect this.
"Y/N?" feeling my face heat up, I reluctantly shifted my gaze to Edmund. My eyes connecting with those chocolate brown eyes. My throat suddenly went dry.
The situation I was in, made my heart pound against my chest so hard. My crush was standing infront of me and what made me even more flustered? He was holding my hand. And boy were his hands soft.
It took everything in me not to go intertwining our hands together.
"Y-yeah?"
"Y/N, is it true?"
I gulped, "sorry I-I don't think I'm following?" Of course I knew what he was talking about.
"That you like me?" the expression on his face unreadable. I couldn't tell if he was going to be mad at me or happy. He looked at me with his piercing gaze, clearly waiting for an answer.
I can't lie to him.
I don't want to lie to him. I want him to know how I feel. But at the same time, I was scared that maybe Kyle was joking and this was all a prank. And I don't want to lose what Edmund and I have right now.
But my feelings decided to take over.
"I-I... please don't be mad at me. Umm.. yes it's true," I looked down at my hands, not wanting to meet his eyes. Nothing. No response. I knew it, it was too good to be true. All I wanted to do right now was go home and lock myself in my room. I wanted to cry so bad.
"I'm sorry. I-I have to go.." voice cracking. Once again, turning on my heels I walked away from him.
I expected him to hold me back. But no. My vision became blurry with the tears threatening to fall. I knew it. He didn't feel the same.
Just when my tears began streaming down uncontrollably, I bumped into something.
Oh great. Now you have to embarrass yourself infront of him too. I stumbled back losing my balance, bracing for the impact of the hard ground.
Only, I didn't feel anything. No pain.
I slowly opened my eyes, locking eyes with none other than Edmund. I gasped. Apparently, the something I had bumped into, was him. He had managed to wrap his arms around my waist, holding me steady.
Slowly helping me up he averted his gaze scratching the nape of his neck.
"Thank you.." I mumbled looking at my feet.
Suddenly I felt his large hands cup my cheeks, wiping my tears away.
"Y/n.." he whispered.
I looked back at him, his gaze so soft.
"Edmund I'm so sorry.."
"No no shh.. don't be sorry, what do you have to be sorry about?"
I opened my mouth to reply, but he gently placed his index finger on my lips. I felt like my heart would explode at this point.
"Y/n, I'm sorry I let you walk away like that. I just.. I couldn't believe it. That you actually like me."
I tilted my head in confusion.
He chuckled softly, "Y/N I like you too. Heck with it, I think I just might be in love with you."
Okay now I'm sure I was hearing things.
"R-really?" pinching myself just to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I whinced.
He chuckled. Nodding his head smiling softly, "I always have. Since the day Kyle introduced us. I felt so comfortable around you. I.." he took a deep breath, "I kept my feelings to myself because I thought you didn't feel the same. I was afraid of the rejection."
"Why would you think I'd reject you? "
He laughed, "well.. everytime I'd try to talk to you, you would run away."
At that, Julie came into my head. She had told me exactly that. I felt a pang of guilt. That was on me.
"I'm sorry.. I really like you too Ed. I was just so scared you know?"
Now it was his turn to look at me in confusion, "scared of what?"
I sighed, "I wanted to make a first good impression, I thought I'd make a fool of myself infront of you.."
He hummed, "well forget that now. You don't need to worry about making a good first impression on me anymore. Because I think you're just amazing." I felt my cheeks heat up once again.
"Y/N?"
"Yes Ed?"
"Since the feelings are mutual, would you do me the honour and let me court you?" I smiled nodding my head. My heart was fluttering with joy.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me towards him and into his embrace, "finally.. I can do this and call you mine. I love you y/n."
Wrapping my arms around him I nuzzled my head into the crook of his neck, "I love you too Ed."
Pulling away I giggled. I was so happy. The moment I had been dreaming of for so long, finally came true.
Gazing into each others eyes we burst into giggles. "You don't know how happy I am right now," Edmund mumbled, leaning his forehead against mine.
"Oh would you both cut with the cute talk and kiss already?!" Peter yelled suddenly. We were so caught up in the moment we hadn't even noticed our little audience.
Lucy was squealing in joy while the others were giving us knowing looks. Like they knew this was going to happen all along. Which they actually did. Kyle winking at me, I really have to thank the guy I thought.
I turned back to face Edmund, who had his eyes on me already.
He cleared his throat, "c-can I?" He looked so flustered. Giggling I stood on my toes pecking his lips. When I pulled away I couldn't resist the urge to laugh.
His lips parted, eyes wide and pupils dilated. And the next minute he leaned down locking our lips together once again the two of us smiling into the kiss.
Well what do you know? Love finds a way..
Hey there everyone! I hope you all enjoyed this! Please send in requests guys, my inbox literally has flies in it 😂❤️

Rain // HS
Sunday mornings were always quiet. At least for the past couple of weeks they had been.
Haley, mine and Harry's 3 year old, was sat, cross-legged on the rug with all of her toys splayed out around her. I could hear faint gurgles and noises coming from her direction, which let me know she was being kept out of trouble. I piicked up a cloth from the sink and started wiping down the countertops in the kitchen. The hum of the radio filled the space as I made my way round the room. Throwing the cloth into the washing machine after I'd finished.
I could hear the plods of Harry's feet coming down the stairs. He must've finished cleaning the bathroom.
“Y/N? Love?" Harry called.
"Yeah?"
"Bathrooms done!" the footsteps grew closer before he was stood in front of the breakfast counter. A triumphant look on his face. I spun around and smirked at his expression.
"Is it done, done? Or Harry done?" I questioned. Folding my arms over my chest. Harry scowled at my questioning.
"Uhhm... first of all how dare you. Secondly, I think you'll find it to be quite satisfactory, actually!" one of his hands had now found its way to his hip. I couldn't help but laugh at how sassy he looked in this moment. It reminded me of his 'Kiwi' pose.
"Okay okay. I'll have to take your word for it H because I just have way too much to do today."
Harry had now made his way over to where I stood, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin against my shoulder.
"It's Sunday love. Sundays are made for doing nothing." he hummed.
“That may be so but this house is a mess."
“Y/N. Look around. It is spotless as always. You just hate sitting still." he let go of my waist and poked me lightly in the hip. I jumped back at his action. I reached over and picked up Haley's cutlery, from breakfast, to throw into the dishwasher. Pointing the fork in Harry's direction.
"You think you have me pegged Styles." Harry smirked before letting a chuckle escape his lips. He nodded excitedly before grabbing my waist again and spinning me around. I couldn't help but yelp at this sudden move. He held me, before starting to sway to the music playing from the radio. Little hums and harmonies left his lips as we waltzed around the kitchen.
Suddenly, Haley cried out.
Harry dropped his hands from my waist. Both of us running around to check on her.
Haley was stood at the window, face pressed up against the glass. The sight was incredibly funny to both myself and Harry. Little giggles shared between the two of us.
"What is it bub?" Harry cooed. Walking over to where Haley stood, kneeling down and placing his hand on her back. Haley pointed towards the sky. It had started to rain. Small droplets had formed on the window but it steadily got heavier. Causing puddles to form on the patio outside.
"Aaah it's raining! Your favourite !" Harry beamed.
There was something about rain that fascinated Haley. The first time we got caught in a torrential downpour she couldn't stop laughing. She loved it.
“I wonder if Mummy could pause what she's doing and come and play outside with us?" Harry whispered into Haley's ear. Haley lifted her head towards me, looking at me with those adorable green eyes. She definitely inherited that from her father. Eyes like butter wouldn't melt.
I stood a couple feet away from them both. Lifting my hand to my chin, scratching it as if I was thinking.
"I guess I could take a break for a little while." Haley squealed and ran towards me. I lifted her up and held her against my hip. Wandering off to get her changed into something more appropriate.
The rain continued to pour down, water running down the guttering into the drains below.
Harry and Haley were running around the patio, chasing each other. Puddles of water splashing around them. Both were drenched from head to toe but neither cared. I stopped to take a photo of the two of them. Moments like these are incredibly special. Harry is so busy usually so I want to remember these moments. Plus, it would be a good photo to send to everyone.
"Y/N? You gonna stand there looking pretty or are you gonna come and have some fun?" Harry exclaimed. I chuckled and made my way over to the two of them. However, the patio was incredibly slippy and my wellies gave way underneath me. I landed with a thud. The shock causing me to freeze. Harry stopped playing and ran right over to me. Checking I was okay, clearly holding back laughter. I couldn't help but laugh myself. What a sight it must've been. Me, sprawled out on the patio, absolutely drenched. Harry knelt beside me, also drenched.
And Haley. Who was now cautiously plodding her way over to check I was okay. Tilting her body and head sideways to look at me. Small murmurs left her lips, as if she was checking I was okay.
"Oh bub. Mummy's okay! See I'm fine sweet pea!" I reached out my arms for her to give me hug, chuckles still erupting from myself and Harry.
"Mummy is a tough cookie Hal." Harry stated. I loved when he called her Hal. Nicknames have always been apart of my love language so it warms my heart to know she already has one of her own.
Haley crawled into my lap and shuffled so that she was sat between my legs. Both of us stretching out our legs. Harry moved over so that he was closer. Putting his arm around my back. We stayed like that for a while. Just enjoying being with each other.
"We should probably go in and get dried off. We're gonna catch colds." I mumbled. I didn't want this moment to end but also didn't want us all to be sick. Harry nods, reaching out and pulling Haley into his arms. I picked myself up of the ground an followed them back into the house.
“I don't just have one child. I have two." I said to myself, as Harry was stripping Haley of her clothes. Both giggling as he chased her up the stairs.

“No! Don’t step on him!” Five year old Y/N L/N yelled at her friend, Edmund Pevensie. He had his foot raised above a small garden snail, right in the middle of a game of Godzilla. The pair were currently in Y/N’s back garden, playing amongst all the plants. Both children were dressed in brightly colored rain boots and their play clothes to enjoy the rainy weather.
“It’s just a snail,” Edmund responded, lowering his leg to the ground. Instead of squishing the garden creature, he kneeled down to the ground for a better look. It wasn’t anything special, just a normal garden snail, but it seemed to be rather important to his playmate.
“He is not just a snail! He is my friend.”
“If he’s your friend, what’s his name then?” Edmund let the small snail crawl up onto his finger before standing upright.
“Snaily,” Y/N responded, putting her hand out and throwing the teddy bear in her arms to the ground. Edmund placed Snaily on her palm and smiled a toothy smile. This made Y/N grin, putting her hand at eye level. “Thank you for not squashing him.”
“He’s my friend now, too. You don’t squash friends.”
Y/N nodded in agreement, “You don’t squash friends.”
~
“Do you remember being a baby?” Edmund asked Y/N. They were now eight and sitting on the Pevensie family swing set, avoiding the youngest Pevensie child, Lucy. Y/N adored Lucy, she thought the girl was adorable, but Edmund insisted the two have “big kid things” to attend to.
The swing set was old and rickety, as it had been in their family since Edmund’s older brother, Peter was a toddler. The colors were faded, the slide had a large crack in it and Edmund had written his and Y/N’s initials on one of the support beams. “No, am I supposed to?” Y/N answered. She had been last to reach the swings, so she was stuck with the squeaky one. Her face cringed each time the chains made a noise, despite her attempts to stay as still as possible. Y/N brought her hands to the teddy bear on her lap, covering its ears. Having been in the sun all afternoon, the swing was hot on her legs and it stuck uncomfortably to the skin on her thighs.
“I don’t think so. My parents were looking at our baby books this morning so I was wondering,”
“My mom has a picture of us when we were three hanging in our living room,” Y/N’s nose wrinkled and she kicked up a small patch of dirt. “We’ve been friends since we were babies. I don’t remember meeting you, though. You were just, there.”
Edmund laughed, standing so he could lean his stomach against the seat of the swing. He swung on his stomach once before situating back onto his feet. “Our fathers are friends which means we’re friends. That’s just the way the world works.”
“Friends forever, even if one of us moves far far far far away?”
“Friends forever, Y/N.”
~
“Do you have to go?” Ten-year-old Edmund stood outside of Y/N’s house, holding a box of barbies. Mr. L/N took the box from Ed’s hand and put it in the trunk of his car.
“It should only be for a few years at most, Ed. I’m getting relocated for work,” Mr. L/N responded, messing the young boy’s hair up with one hand. “We’ll be back. I gave your Dad our new address and you can write to Y/N to your heart’s content.”
When Y/N joined them at the car, backpack slung across her shoulder and her favorite teddybear hugged between her arms, tears were rolling down her face.
“I don’t want to go, please don’t make me!” She cried, holding to her teddy to her chest. Her face was scarlet and her mouth was etched into a frown.
“You can stay with us!” Edmund offered, his own tears starting to roll down his face. Y/N was more than just his playmate, she was his best friend. They had spent the last seven years of their life seeing eachother almost daily, and now all of that was going to come to a sudden halt.
“That’s sweet of you, buddy, but I think her mother and I would miss her too much,” Mr. L/N smiled down at the two before walking to the front of the car where his wife was talking to Helen Pevensie.
“I wish you didn’t have to go,” Edmund sniffled. “I’m going to miss you. I have no one to play on the swings with!”
“You can play with Lucy.” Edmund made a face at this suggestion, making Y/N sadly giggle. “Or Peter.”
“No, Lucy cries too much and Peter always kicks sand in my eyes.”
A thoughtful look came over Y/N’s face and she looked down at the plush in her arms. After a small moment of what looked like intense thought, she held her teddy out towards Edmund.
“Here, Ed, now you can have a friend!” Edmund hesitantly took the bear from Y/N’s hands and looked down at it. It was obvious Y/N really loved that thing because it was a bit raggedy and one of the brown button eyes was replaced with a bright green one. “Teddy likes it better here, anyway. You can take care of him.”
Y/N awkwardly gripped her upper arm with her hand, swaying on her heels. Edmund hugged it to him and nodded stiffly. “He’s in good hands. I will protect him with my life.”
Both kids laughed and embraced before Y/N was whisked into the car.
~
Dear Y/N,
Happy 12th birthday! I’m sad I couldn’t be there for it, but I hope your cake was yummy. The picture my mum showed me looked absolutely delicious. She also said you took up archery at your new school! My school doesn’t offer that, so I thought that was cool. Did you shoot anything? I know you are too nice to shoot any animals but I never know with you. ;) I hung out with this girl in my English class the other day, she reminded me of you. She had long brown hair and blue eyes and a laugh that sounds like yours. She wasn’t as fun as you, though. I think she wants me to be her boyfriend. I’m not sure if I want to be her boyfriend. She kept trying to hold my hand. Her hand was sweaty. And she kept saying I have a cute smile. I don’t know how a smile can be cute? Teeth are weird. Peter said that was her way of trying to flirt with me. Do you flirt with boys at your school? What do you say?
Maybe we can play Minecraft together again soon. Last time we played I had a great time. Have your mom text mine and we can try to schedule something. I want a phone, it would be easier to talk to you.
I attached a picture of me and Teddy at the park. He misses you almost as much as I do.
I’ll be waiting for your response,
Ed
.
Ed,
Thank you for the birthday wishes. :D The cake was delicious, I wish you could have tried it!!! And to answer your question, yes, but I’ve only ever shot targets. It’s against school rules to shoot anything other than them. Sort of a bummer, though.
Your not-girlfriend sounds nice. I agree with her, your smile is very nice. You always look so happy when you smile, especially when your eyes light up.
I don’t really flirt with boys, boys are kinda gross. Not you of course, but the guys at my school. There is this one guy named Ethan who is kinda cute. He wouldn’t want to be my boyfriend though. My friend always talks about kissing him. I want to kiss someone...have you ever kissed a girl?
My mum said I can get a phone when I turn 14. Then, we can text and call whenever we want! I miss you. How’s teddy? He looks so happy in that picture. I hung it on my bulletin board.
Respond quicker this time, will ya?
Y/N

EDMUND!!!
I’M HAVING A CRISIS AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 13! Remember that boy, Ethan? Well, apparently he has a big crush on me. That’s fine, he’s cute and everything, but my friend has a big crush on him. I guess it’s like friendship code to not date him? I feel bad rejecting him. I kinda have a crush on someone already. I know he doesn’t like me though.
Are you still dating that one girl? In your last letter, you said you were gonna break up with her. How’d that go? Did she cry? Did you cry? I hope you didn’t. I don’t like it when you cry. It makes me sad.
Can you believe we’re teenagers now? It seems like just yesterday I was handing you Teddy and crying in the car for an hour. I hope we come back soon. But hey! I’m almost 14, which means I’ll be getting a cell phone. Maybe if I have a phone my mum can convince yours to get you one.
I miss you, Ed. I hope to be back soon.
Y/N.
.
Y/N!!!!
I’m not sure if that really counts as a crisis, but okay. If you don’t like him, don’t date him. That’s why I broke up with mine. I discovered I kind of like someone else, so I broke up with her. And no, I didn’t cry. If felt like a relief more than anything. Let me know how the “crisis” turns out.
I can’t wait until I get a phone. My entire grade has one, and so do Susan and Peter. I feel kind of left out, having to write letters when I want to talk to someone. It’s always fun when I get them, though.
If I have to hear Stitches by Shawn Mendes one more time, my head is going to explode!!!! Susan keeps playing it on repeat. I tried to turn it off earlier and she almost broke my arm. Why are siblings so mean? Or are mine just weird? You’re lucky you’re an only child. I miss you too, Y/N. If you were here life would be so much easier.
Edmund
~
“Edmund, you got a letter,” Lucy says, dropping the envelope on his desk. He was working on college applications, typing away on his laptop, and looking grumpy. Music blasted through his speakers as he worked.
“I didn’t order anything?” He grunted in response, not taking his eyes off of the screen.
“It’s from the girl you’re basically in love with, I think. It has her name on it.” Edmund looked at the envelope with scrunched eyebrows. Sure enough, it had her name and address written on the front in her familiar handwriting. His heart rate sped up while he gently (and shakily) broke the paper seal. Why didn’t she just text him?
Hey, Edmund,
I know we haven’t talked since we were like 15 and I could have just texted you, but this seemed more nostalgic and romantic in a way. You know how I tend to romanticize everything.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know we’re moving back for Senior year, crazily enough. A few years my ass, huh? We’ll be back on the 14th, so get ready for chaos.
Seriously, I’m looking forward to seeing you outside of Instagram again. You don’t have to come see me if you don’t want to, I know it might be a bit awkward, but I’d really like it if you did. My address is 1014 Swanwhite Lane. Come stop by if you feel like it.
I do miss you. Judging by your social media, you’re doing well. I’m happy to hear that.
Hopefully, I’ll see you soon.
Y/N
“Oh my god, she’s coming back,” Edmund says, gripping the thin paper in between his thumb and middle finger. “What’s the date?”
Lucy pulled her phone out of her pocket and unlocked it, “The 28th. Why?”
“She got back the 14th! She’s been back for ages and I had no idea, oh my god!”
“Well, are you going to go see her? You lost your chance to sweep her off her feet by waiting for her to arrive.”
“Sweep her off her feet?” Lucy rolled her eyes and hit him with the rest of the family’s mail.
“Don’t play stupid. I’ve heard you and Peter talking.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” His eyes skimmed the letter again. Lucy snatched it from his fingers and hit him with it.
“Don’t know what I’m talking about? Really, Ed? The whole ‘I’ve been in love with her since I was 8 years old’ thing you told Pete? You don’t recall? Or the fact you have her post notifications on?” Lucy read the letter herself. “She wants to see you! Come on, this is your chance. You haven’t even looked at a girl since you were like 13.”
“I’ve been focusing on school. What’s wrong with that?”
“It’s a Friday night in the middle of August and you’re getting a head start on college applications. Ed, go see the girl.”
“Mum will never let me,” Lucy held up one finger and left the room. After about 5 minutes, she returned and held his coat out to him.
“She said to go have fun. Here, it might be chilly.” Edmund sighed and took his jacket. The corduroy felt soft under his fingers as he slid it on.
“You don’t have to be so pushy, Lu.”
Lucy smiled, “It’s only because I love you. Besides, if I didn’t push you, you wouldn’t go.”
~
Edmund sat on the curb across the street and looked up at Y/N’s house. It was well past 11 at this point and only one light in the house was on. Hopefully, it was Y/N’s.
He awkwardly thumbed through his contacts before pulling up Y/N’s. The last text was on his birthday, a simple two message conversation consisting of “Happy Birthday!” and “Thanks!”
Look outside
He watched nervously as his message went from delivered to read, but no typing bubble popped up. Edmund sighed and stood, shoving his phone into his jacket pocket and walking towards the house. Sure enough, the front door opened and a grown-up Y/N stepped out. She was still dressed, but her shoes were off and her hair was tied back. Edmund smiled at her mismatched socks, old habits die hard apparently.
“I thought you were never going to come and see me,” Her voice was like honey.
“I just got the letter today, so blame the postal service. Not me.” The two walked to the curb and sat down.
“Well, I’m glad you still came. I was expecting you to wimp out.”
“Wimp out?! Why would I do that?”
Y/N let out a forced chuckle and looked at the pavement. “Because you stopped answering my texts and calls.” She crossed her arms across her body and shivered. She was only wearing a short-sleeve shirt and a pair of pajama shorts. “But I get it, life gets in the way sometimes.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. Are you cold?” Without waiting for an answer, he shrugs off his jacket and drapes it across Y/N’s shoulders. It smelled like spearmint gum and pine.
Y/N let out a real chuckle this time. “Smooth, Ed. Very cheesy.”
“I will happily take it back.”
“Please don’t, this is the closest I’ve been to you in years.” Her fingers gripped the material and closed it around her torso. She scooted closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder. Edmund didn’t quite know what to do. “I missed you, Edmund. It’s so nice to see you again.”
“I missed you too. Your return is a few years late.” His chest vibrated with a snicker.
“I know, but I’m back now.” A moment of silence filled the air as the two tried to grow more comfortable in the familiar company.
“I used to dream about sitting with you like this, you know,” Edmund said before he could stop himself.
“You did?”
“Yeah, I used to picture us in all sorts of situations, but most of them were small things like this.”
“But not anymore?”
Edmund sighed, laying his head on top of hers. His hair tickled Y/N’s forehead. “I figured you moved on from me.”
“Moved on? What do you mean?”
“I mean, you have so many friends and a new life… and we stopped texting as often. I don’t know, I thought you, maybe, outgrew me.”
Y/N played with the zipper on Edmund’s jacket, making a small clicking noise fill the air. “I never outgrew you, Ed. In fact, a day didn’t go by that I didn’t wish I was here with you.”
“I don’t see why. You had so many friends and such an exciting life. I’m rather dull in comparison.”
“You’re definitely not dull. And it doesn’t matter how many friends it seems like I have, you’re the only one I consider a best friend. I should have reached out more, maybe I could have had a better year.”
Edmund shifted so he could wrap an arm around her waist. “Did you have a bad year?”
“Yeah, that’s sort of why we came back. But, I mean, I’m here with you, so everything has a bright side.”
Edmund grinned and tightened his grip. “That’s one of the things I love most about you. You can always see the positives in everything.” Y/N pulled back and looked at his face.
“I love it when you smile,” Y/N commented. “I could spend hours staring at that god damn smile.” Edmund’s cheeks reddened and his smile grew bigger.
“Why don’t you, then? Stay with me for hours, I mean.”
“I will if you let me, Pevensie.”
Edmund sniffed once.
“Did you ever end up dating that guy from your Chemistry class?” Edmund asks, studying the side of her face. His eyes scanned over her skin, admiring how soft it looked.
“No, I’ve been in love with someone else for quite some time.”
“What a lucky guy, then.” Edmund’s voice was only a bit louder than a mumble as he turned his head away from her.
“Yeah, I guess he is. I’ve known him since I was really young.”
“How’d you meet him?” Every word felt like a dagger into his stomach.
“I don’t remember, he was always just there. Our dads were friends so we were friends. That’s just how the world works.” Edmund took his hand off of Y/N and placed it in his lap.
“Oh, I see.”
“Yeah, he’s super cute. He’s really smart, too, but kinda oblivious.”
“Wow, he sounds great, Y/N. I’m so happy for you.” Each word sounded like he was choking them out. He stopped listening a few responses ago, but he still wanted to support her. No matter how hurt he felt, he was still her friend.
“He’s the best person I’ve ever met, if I’m being quite honest. He can be a bit of an ass though.”
“What’s his name?”
“You might know him,” Y/N tucked her hands into her sleeves before continuing. “His name is Edmund Pevensie.”
“Wow, what a cool- wait what?” Y/N giggled at the look on his face. His eyebrows were lifted and his mouth was open slightly.
“Yeah, I don’t know, maybe you’ve met him.”
“You’ve been in love with me?”
“Been and am, darling. God, when I got your text tonight my heart almost stopped.” Edmund was speechless, he couldn’t believe the girl he had been in love with for so long felt the same way. “Of course it’s okay if you don’t feel the same-”
“-No! I’m just shocked. I can’t believe this. I have loved you since we were little, I feel like I’m dreaming.” He couldn’t help but let the smile engulf his face, making his freckles stand out against his red cheeks. This was not what he was expecting when he had walked to her house.
“There’s that handsome smile I love to see.”
“So, you were waiting for me?”
“Just like you were waiting for me. Lucy texted me about six months ago about how you never show any interest when she tries to set you up with girls. Now is just our time, unless you aren’t going to show interest in me.”
“When did you get so sassy?” Edmund turned so he was facing her straight on.
“When did you get so flust-” She was cut off mid-word by his warm lips being pressed against hers. He tasted like licorice and mint, and Y/N instantly got intoxicated off of his lips. Both parties had dreamed about this moment for years, so now that it was happening, it left them both feeling light-headed. Edmund pulled back and smirked.
“Who’s the flustered one now?” He asks, hand cupping her cheek.
“Does this mean you’re finally mine?”
“Y/N, I’ve always been yours. Hell, I’ll always be yours.”
Edmund made a face as if he remembered something and reached into his backpack, “By the way, I’m not the only one who missed you.” He placed a very old teddy bear in his lover’s lap.
He had raggedy fur and one green eye.

Santa Comes to Town.
It was a cold winter morning when the tiny toddler jumped up into her elder brother’s bed. She frantically moved her tiny hands around the blankets which covered her brother in a warm slumber.
“Dekey! Dekey! Gey-Up! Up! Kishmush! Kishmush!”
The boy pulled the covers over his head. His muffled sound came out. “Not yet, Savvie. It’s still a week to go. Let me sleep.”
The little girl frowned and shouted out at the door, “Mommy! Dekey not getting up. Eeaam mama weebe anggy."
Listening to this, Bianca walked in, her hands full of neatly folded clothes that she stacked properly in the children’s cupboard. She turned around and walked to the little girl who was still sitting at the edge of the bed with pouted lips. Bianca sat down in front of her and looked into her brown eyes. “Sweetpea, you don’t say Liam’s mama. She is the queen. You address her as ‘your majesty’ or ‘madam’.”
Then she called out, “Drake, you need to get out of that bed, and prepare to host your friend.”
“Yes Mother.” The four-year-old obediently plopped up into the bed rubbing his eyes.
Bianca picked up her daughter in her arms and started walking to the washroom. “Let’s get you dressed up pretty. How would you like that?” The little girl nodded enthusiastically.
The next hour was spent in getting the kids through the morning routine.
While her husband was busy at the palace, as the head of king’s guard, Bianca spent time bringing up her kids with just a bit of the Texan touch in a foreign land.
Staying in the kingdom of Cordonia, she had carried her roots from the life back from Texas. It could be seen in her lifestyle and her home.
She had beautifully decorated a wall with some rustic crosses where her children stood praying with her, now. After offering their prayers, the kids got busy in decorating their little Christmas tree, that Jackson, their father had managed for them.
“It’s quite small.” He had sighed after placing it in the corner of their living room.
“It is perfect Jack.” Bianca had assured him as they watched Drake and Savannah jumping around it. The tree that appeared small to Jackson, was towering over the little stature of the kids. Savannah was clapping her hands in excitement.
The siblings spent each day adding a little of this and a little of that to their tree. Today it was special as Drake’s best friend, prince Liam was visiting them with his mother, Queen Eleanor.
Bianca was flabbergasted when she received the queen first time, during her stay at Cordonia, soon after her wedding to Jackson. But, over a period of time, she got accustomed to the loving nature of the Queen and her unique ways of mingling with common people. It had somehow become a tradition to host the Queen a week before the Christmas day, at the Walker’s humble quarters.
Bianca was occupied in the kitchen preparing the menu for the visit till late noon. She realised there was pin drop silence in the house. ‘What are these two up to now?’ she worried. She rushed to the bedroom but stopped in her tracks to find Savannah dressed up in her red frilly frock sitting on the floor.
Drake was holding the little girl’s hand delicately in his, as he was busy painting her tiny nails red. It looked like he had done up her brown curls  in a slightly messy braid. When Savannah sensed her mother, she looked up and Bianca saw her pearly whites shining through the brightly coloured red lips.
Bianca’s heart warmed up to see the doting elder brother still engrossed into his job. “Mommy!” Savannah shrieked. Drake shook with the sudden sound and tipped the nail enamel bottle he was holding on his dress. “I am sorry mother.” He looked apologetically at his mother, worrying that she may scold him for the mess.
Her favourite nail enamel was spilled over and there was a messy shirt to clean but she ignored it all to keep up the spirit. “Don’t worry Drake. The Queen will be here any minute now, it’s time. Let’s quickly change your shirt. As she was helping him into fresh clothes, the doorbell jingled.
Eleanor walked in with Liam.  Savannah was the first to run up to her. She curtsied trying to balance over her wobbly feet. Eleanor picked up the tiny tot in her arms admiring, “Look at you! You are all grown up.”
“Dake dessed me.” Savannah stuttered.  Bianca rolled her eyes and Eleanor caught the gesture, understanding what must have conspired, looking at the makeup and the hairdo. Drake came ahead and bowed to Eleanor shyly.
“Here, here little guy. You did it all by yourself?” she asked him, putting Savannah back on her toes and giving Drake a warm hug. “Look at the hairstyle and the make up! You are good at this Drake. Isn’t she looking cute?” Drake blushed while Savannah twirled around with a glee . “May be some day I can have a little girl just like you!”
The last statement brought big expectant smile on Liam’s face. Bianca gave him a hug, “Bless your heart! Our little prince will love it!”
After everyone exchanged greetings, the ladies settled down for a chitchat while the brother and sister pulled Liam to show their Christmas tree.
They enjoyed playing around it for some time and then decided to move to the playroom. Drake and Liam each held one of Savannah’s hands and walked with her slow pace as Eleanor watched them go. “Aww! They are so adorable!”
Drake pulled out the wooden blocks and the three of them sat together to make a castle. “Who weebe the king?” Savannah asked.
“Liam will be, Savvie. He is the prince.” Drake told her while Liam smiled at her acknowledging.
“Ann you Dekey?”
“I will be king’s guard, just like daddy.” Drake said with a puffed-up chest.
“Ann I?” Savannah questioned again to understand her role in the pretend play.
“You can be a Duchess!” Liam added.
“Wha do duchesh do?”
“She helps the king at his work.” Liam explained patiently.
Savannah was delighted and agreed to play her role.
Their game continued till Bianca came in to take them for snacks.
“Momma, Eeaam made me duchesh!” She started telling her mother about their pretend play. Eleanor listened keenly. Liam and Drake exchanged shy looks. Being boys they preferred to keep their games to themselves.
Bianca served them her traditional chili, Frito and tortillas. They all sat together and feasted over the delicacies. After munching the kolache for dessert, some more plans were made for the coming week and Christmas party.
Soon, it was time for departure, and Savannah found it overwhelming to let go. Her big brown eyes were welled up as she hugged Liam and addressed the Queen, “Eeaam mama, I wan Eeaam play weeme!” Eleanor laughed at her sweet request.
Bianca picked up her little one and told her firmly, “Savannah Jane Walker! You do not say that. You say ‘Madam'.”
Eleanor ignored the formalities and cupped her cheeks, “Liam is going to go to the palace and set up a big Christmas tree for you. How about you visit us with your Momma and brother later?”
Savannah half-heartedly nodded.  Bianca put her down next to her brother, “Drake, can you take her to her room?”
“Yes mother.” Drake quickly bid farewell to his friend and walked his little sister, who was sobbing silently, to her room. Bianca saw her guests out. When she returned to the children’s room, she was treated with yet another sweet moment. Savannah had lay down with her head in Drake’s lap, her eyelids drooping. Bianca's little son was singing to her in his baby voice, “...Santa’s coming to town…
You better watch out; you better not cry.
Better not pout, I am telling u why.
He sees when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake.
He knows when you’re bad or good so be good for goodness sake.”
She patiently waited for him to finish his verse and then walked in to hug him, “Oh punkin! I love you!”
She kissed him and then lifted almost asleep Savannah from his lap. She cuddled up with her kids humming ‘Santa comes to town'.

‘Mammon visits MC in the human realm and Lucifer gets jealous’ Part 9/???
Read Part 8 here!
-
Lucifer looked up at Satan with vulnerable eyes. Fear ran through his mind as the rose tinted glasses he’d been wearing for the past month were finally removed. He’d been a puppet in Diavolo’s plans.
Reading Lucifer’s mind, Satan spoke softly. “You need to go.”
-
As he stood outside the familiar doors of Diavolo’s colossal palace, Lucifer took steady breaths as he held MC’s package in his hands.
It’d taken some time, but Lucifer managed to order the brothers to stay at the house while he delivered the gift to her. He silently hoped to himself that she wouldn’t turn him away at the door. Barbatos let him in, greeting him as he would do usually.
“Lucifer.” He nodded, “I hadn’t expected to see you here.”
“Good evening, Barbatos - can you lead me in the direction of MC?” Lucifer asked as he stepped into the huge entranceway.
“Of course.”
Having been led through the castle to the room which MC resided in, Lucifer’s heart quickened as he tried to hold back his anger. He’d been to Diavolo’s palace many times - he knew exactly which chamber was his. Conveniently, it was opposite MC’s.
Knocking gently, he waited for her voice to call. It’d felt like it had been forever since he heard the angelic words that fell from her lips. As he heard her speak up from the other side, he slowly opened the door.
Looking up from where she sat, MC’s eyes widened when she recognised the dark hair that first appeared, followed by a gloved hand and a red waist coat. Her heartbeat quickened as she gawped at Lucifer stood in the doorway. He met her eyes as he pushed the door shut.
MC was speechless as he looked at her sombrely. His heart melted, seeing her face for the first time in weeks. The stress of everything slowly evaporated as he entered her presence. “Lucifer?” She asked in disbelief.
“I had to see you.” He breathed abruptly.
She remained silent as she stared at him. So many emotions filled her body all at once; anger; disappointment; sadness; love. MC waited for him to explain his presence. Pulling her duvet up to her chest, she watched his every move.
He let out a deep breath as he stepped further into the room, placing the gift in his hands onto her dresser. MC’s face softened when she studied his expression. Usually he’d always seem so reserved, hiding any emotions he may have but for the first time she saw the hurt in his eyes. She’d never seen him without his shield of pride encasing him. Despite all of the anguish she held for him, her heart let her down. She wanted to throw herself across the bed and hug him.
“I owe you an explanation.” He spoke in a calm manner as he placed a hand on his chest. “Do you mind?” He asked, pointing at the empty space on the bed beside her. Shaking her head, she allowed him to perch next to her body. “I still haven’t quite accepted what we’ve done.” He admitted in a whisper. “You probably think I regret our night together.”
“That’s the only impression you’ve given me.” She spoke quietly, “Can you blame me for thinking it?”
“No.” He shook his head. “Just know that it’s not true - there hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t thought about it.”
She listened to him intently, her gaze flickering between his troubled eyes.
“Since you left us I’d struggled to make it through the day without missing you. Things were so much easier with you around - I hadn’t realised at the time but you were my beacon.” He half chuckled as she continued to remain silent. “But my work never lessened. I almost had a sense of relief when you left - I feared that if things were to develop between us they’d soon fizzle out because I was unable to find the time for you. I worried I’d hurt you.”
MC blinked as she processed every word carefully. She felt a pang of sadness, hearing Lucifer’s fears.
“When I came to see you in the human realm, I’d never felt such a sheer sense of happiness seeing your face again.” He admitted, “I began to wonder to myself, perhaps things could work - maybe I could finally find the perfect balance between my responsibilities and our relationship.”
The mention of a relationship made her breathing grow quicker.
“But when I held you in my arms and felt two souls I’d never felt so frightened.” He spoke truthfully with trouble glazing his eyes, “Suddenly all of my fears came back. If I can’t devote my time to you, how am I supposed to give it to a baby?”
“I don’t understand...” she sighed, her face saddening. “Why are you telling me all of this now?”
“Because I have a new fear.” He spoke quietly.
“Being?” She asked impatiently.
“I take too long to figure it all out.” He answered, “And then when I do, it’s too late.” He spoke, referring to the image of Diavolo and MC in his head.
“I don’t understand what you’re trying to say to me...” MC stated. She hadn’t seen Lucifer in weeks and now he’d just shown up and opened his heart up to her. He’d mentioned so many things that she didn’t know what to focus on first. “What does all of this mean?” She asked as she heard the door open.
“That I—“
“Lucifer, what a surprise!” A voice called.
Diavolo’s appearance almost scared MC. Both of their heads spun round to face him. As much as she enjoyed the Prince’s company, her heart cried as he interrupted the moment she was sharing with Lucifer.
“My Lord.” The eldest brother nodded.
“I see you two are speaking.” He smiled, “I was surprised when Barbatos told me you were here - the timing couldn’t be better. Come, I have a serious matter to discuss with you.”
Lucifer wanted to refuse but he knew he couldn’t. “Of course, My Lord.”
He got off the bed, leaving MC as he walked across the room. Before he left however, he picked up the parcel that he’d previously left on MC’s dresser. “A gift from us.” He nodded as he placed it in front of her. “7 things from 7 brothers.”
Before MC could even thank him, he stepped out of the room after feeling Diavolo’s eyes burning into his skull.
Watching them both leave, MC was left overrun with emotions. What did all of Lucifer’s confession mean? Was he building it all up to admit that he’s not ready to be with her or worse: that he doesn’t want to be with her?
Trying to avoid overthinking it, her eyes fell on the package as she reached for it, carefully opening the lid to see what was inside.
A smile erupted onto her face when she scanned the contents. Her entire complexion lit up when she pulled out the bottle of specially made iced tea that Asmo had obviously put in for her - he knew it was her favourite. Of course, the Polaroid selfie of him he’d stuck to it also gave her a clue.
Digging further into the box, she pulled out a large book. She noticed a piece of paper on the inside cover. ‘Satan’ she smiled, reading his writing on the note.
Words couldn’t describe her happiness as she continued searching through the box, pulling out various items. Levi had given her his limited edition copy of TSL, Beel had supplied her with a box of his favourite cookies with a note saying ‘for you and the baby’ (although she was adamant he’d eaten half) and Belphie had bought her the softest looking blanket to remind her of him.
Seeing something else that was fabric in the box, she reached in. Her face softened completely when she pulled out a tiny baby onesie. Rotating her hand so that she could see the design on the front, her heart practically exploded as she worked out who’d provided the gift.
Embroidered onto the tiny babygrow were the words ‘I love my Uncle Mammon’.
She laughed at the present as she wanted nothing more than to give the white haired demon the biggest hug in the world.
Having seen 6/7 gifts, she searched the box for Lucifer’s. She was desperate to see what he’d given her. Reaching to the bottom, she could see a small box. As she wrapped her fingers around it, she fished it out before eagerly opening it.
“Luci...” she whispered to herself as she found her heart beating rapidly.
Unable to believe what was in front of her, she removed the contents of the tiny box. Holding up the gift, she had a mesmerised expression as she admired what she held.
Holding it close to her, she continued to gaze down at the small chocolate lizard that was still wrapped the same way as when she bought it for Lucifer all that time ago in London.
‘He kept it after all this time...’

Spago, 7pm, reservation under my name, have fun saucy xxx
Oh, Lucy. Lovely, wonderful, maddening Lucy. Not only would she select my date for the evening, she, of course, would make a decision about when and where.
In all honesty, I do not mind. I would gladly allow that girl to run my life, she pretty much has made all the big decisions for me anyway. Lucy had been the one who forced me to enter our school’s talent show and sing in public for the first time. I lost hard, unable to compete with Anthony Piaz’s flaming diabolo tricks, but I was grateful to her, nonetheless. Lucy was also the one who made me move out to Los Angeles with her, telling me we needed to be with the stars if we wanted to be like them. It might sound cheesy, but that girl can be very persuasive when she wants to be. Since we were teenagers, she told me all about how we were going to make it big, I would be a singer and she would produce all my music.
Lucy has always been a dreamer, but she is the most dedicated and ambitious person I know, plotting out every detail of every day to make sure she could get to where she wanted to be. Her and I had understood that we could not just rock up in America and instantly start working for record labels. We would spend hours in her room, writing and producing songs every weekend, sending them to local and national radio stations, record labels, anyone we could think of.
Then one day, the universe fell into place. Our song, Penny, started to gain some traction. I will never forget the day we heard our song played on the radio for the first time. I never could forget it with the video of the two of us screaming and crying and laughing and hugging being sent to my phone every time I get frustrated.
‘They never gave up, and neither will we’
Luce has always been good like that, putting things in perspective when I start spiralling out.
Truthfully, Lucy has always been a bit of a hero to me. The voice of reason, even when I did not want to hear it. I trust her with my life. So, when I was offered a contract with a record label, I had insisted that she aid in the production, knowing that once the world could see her talent there would be no stopping her. And there never has been. Though we still work together on projects and tracks wherever we can, both of us have been blessed with opportunities to work with some of our idols in the music industry. However, it still feels the most special when it is just her and me working together.
Knowing that she always has my best interests at heart, agreeing to be set up on a blind date by her was easy. It was only afterwards that the doubts had started to creep in. Of course, Lucy knows me well, probably better than anyone, and so her choice of date for me would undoubtedly be my type. I know that they will be charming and funny and most likely have a smile that makes me want to swat them directly in the face for being so cute. However, it would be impossible for her to know the other person so well, so me showing up may not be what they had hoped for.
They could want to meet someone girly, polished, calm. While I can be those things sometimes, pretending to be anyone but myself would only lead down an unfortunate and embarrassing path in the long run. This self-assuredness, in theory, is lovely, but does not stop the nagging feeling in my stomach that whoever I am meeting at the restaurant will not be pleased to see me.
Trying my best to shake this thought, I get ready for my date. Landing on a simple black dress (knowing my tendencies to spill anything in my grasp), partnering it with a silver chain necklace, a few matching rings, and some thickly heeled silver boots. I put on a touch of makeup, style my hair, and spritz myself with perfume before grabbing a coat, stuffing the pockets with my necessities, and getting in the Uber I had pre-emptively ordered. I am going to be early but that suits me just fine.
Arriving at the restaurant, nestled beside Rodeo Drive, I thank the driver and exit the car. Spago is far too fancy for me to feel fully comfortable, a small part of myself always believing that my life is some sort of coma dream and one day I would wake up back home, older and having done nothing with my life. Despite my instinct to run and feign illness, I enter the restaurant and tell the matre d’ Lucy’s name. He gives me a pleasant smile and leads me through the bustling restaurant to an empty table on the patio outside. Thanking him, I seat myself at the table beside a sheltered, freestanding fireplace, taking a second to appreciate the warmth of the toasting embers against the slight breeze of the evening under the dwindling sun.
Looking out to the chair across from me, panic and excitement swirl around in my stomach. Wondering what they will be like and whether we will get on has me desperately searching around the quiet outside space for anyone who works here to urge them for a glass of wine. I manage to locate someone, but the thought instantly leaves my mind when I notice a person trailing behind them. They head straight in my direction and my head snaps back to the table, trying not to have their first impression of me be my crazy wine-hungry eyes. I take a deep breath, and a second to remember Lucy’s message: ‘have fun’.
Turning to meet my date as they stop at our table, a smile slips across my lips without my telling it to. Yep, Lucy definitely knows me. The man in front of me is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome, but with an added dash of unreservedness, dressed in a black dress shirt, the collar of which pokes out over a baby blue suit jacket, trousers matching. My eyes land on his hand, ringed fingers clutching a bouquet of yellow roses. I cannot deny it, the sight sends a little zip of happiness through my body. Travelling upwards, I land on his face. And pause.
If this is a very elaborate prank, I have to give it up to Lucy. This is incredible. I remember her telling me that she was working with him on a track for his second album, but I would not have thought they were close enough to discuss love lives. If so, surely she would have snapped him up for herself. The amount of conversations we had spent discussing our celebrity crushes and he always popped up on both of our lists. There is no way this is happening. This just proves that I am, in fact, comatose.
“Hi,” he speaks with a tentative smile.
On the off chance that I am not in a simulation, I stand up and greet him, still unable to form words as he presses a kiss to each of my cheeks.
“Lucy said you liked yellow,” he says almost sounding nervous, looking down at the bunch of flowers in his hand.
“I do,” I say softly, shaking my head to bring me back to reality while he is looking away from me. “They’re, uh, they’re beautiful.”
He hands me the flowers and my brain almost completely malfunctions, unable to comprehend that I am sat, on a date, with a man I have been fawning over from afar for over a year. Sure, I have always known of him, but something about him kicking off his solo career and dressing differently, acting differently, it was all just incredibly attractive. Something so sexy about his confidence. An opinion I had expressed to Lucy many times in varying degrees of enthusiasm, her use of the word ‘saucy’ in her text to me suddenly making a lot more sense.
“Thank you, really,” I say, looking up from the flowers to him, a full head taller than me. “Sorry, I’m being weird, Lucy just… is full of surprises,” I admit, meeting his gaze as he observes me cautiously. He must think I am crazy, or incredibly rude, most likely both.
“I’m Violet,” I quickly introduce myself and gesture for us to sit. He does, with a relieved smile which I mirror.
 “Harry,” he says gently.
 Duh.
Harry Styles. I am on a date with Harry Styles. The man I had admitted to wanting to let ‘break my heart and sex me back together’. Not one of my best lines, I will agree. And he is even better looking in person. His hair is kind of messy in a very put-together kind of way. His eyes are deep and their hold on me is strong. And his lips kink up at the edges, pulling joy out to his cheeks as he watches me, almost assessing me.
“Yeah, I’m actually a fan of your music,” I admit shyly, hoping that he finds it endearing rather than psychotic.
“Likewise. To be honest, I can’t believe I’m sat here with you,” he speaks deeply.
This has to be a prank. No way on Earth did Harry Styles, Harry Styles, just say that to me.
“I didn’t realise you and Lucy were so close,” I confess, allowing my confusion and curiosity to spill out of my mouth at lightning speed.
“Oh, yeah, first day we met it was like instant sibling rivalry, you know? Straight away bullying each other,” Harry explains with a low, breathy chuckle. God, even his laugh is sexy.
I will admit to being relieved to hear that their feelings for one another were strictly platonic, not wanting to step on Lucy’s toes even if she had been the one to set us up. Something about hearing this new information allows my most recent conversations with her to make a lot more sense, her being the one to let me explain in detail all the disgusting things I would let this man do to me while she just laughed. That sly devil.
“How long have you two known each other?” he asks, sipping at the glass of water on his side of the table.
“Oh, since we were kids, think our souls are melded at this point,” I tell him, earning a captivated smile that reaches up to his eyes. “Do you do this thing a lot?” I ask, fascinated as to how I ended up in this situation. When he looks at me blankly, I hurriedly add, “Blind dates?”
“Not really, only one other time and it was… interesting,” he says, eyes glazing over as his mind flashes back.
“Me neither,” I start, bringing his attention back to the present in hopes to prevent him from reliving whatever terrible memory I had just triggered, “I do have a very important question for you though,”
“What’s that?” he asks with a grin that matches the one creeping on to my face.
“Are you a wine person?” I ask, faking sincerity.
“Oh, yeah,” he nods, laughing at my intensity.
“Good, ten points to you,” I smirk as we both glance down at the drinks menus, after a moment of reflection I speak up, “Want to just get the cheapest? Don’t think my palette could tell the difference.”
Harry lets out a small laugh and agrees happily, ordering a bottle of chardonnay for the two of us when the waiter circles around to us. My mind begins to spiral as I watch Harry pour us each a glass, wondering how I ended up here, what I think of him, what he thinks of me. Brain almost about to short-circuit[AH1] , I cheers my glass with his and take a long sip of white wine, desperate for a touch of Dutch courage.
We sit in a comfortable silence for a few moments, eyes locked as we drink in our surroundings, allowing the madness of the evening to sink in for our brains to process. There is a gentle smirk on each of our faces, enjoying the mischief of our mutual friend.
“I really loved the album by the way,” I confess to him, only to be rewarded with a bright and grateful smile.
“Thank you,” he says softly, an excited buzz coming from him as he shifts in his seat to lean his elbows on the table, chin resting on his interlaced knuckles. “I listen to The Lady Grey Project at least once a week,” he admits, and if I look closely (which I do) I can see a light rosy flush appearing on his cheeks.
At this point I reckon a rhinoceros could stampede into the restaurant and I would not bat an eyelid. Of course, he listens to my album regularly, this is a dream, in all honesty I am just shocked he does not have a tattoo of my face on his body somewhere. I say a silent prayer that I will be allowed to remain in whatever simulation I am in.
“You’re too kind,” I smirk, having to use my wine glass to hide as much of my blushing face from him.
“Can I ask where the Lady Grey name came from?” he asks curious about my stage-name, watching intently as I swallow and place my glass down. “Sorry if I’m being too nosy by the way, tell me to fuck off if you want,” he says, causing a light laugh to tumble from my lips.
He watches me with a soft gaze that makes me want to melt into a puddle underneath the table. Does he like me? No, he is probably just being polite.
 Calm down crazy.
“Um, well, Lucy and I used to spend days in her room making music, and all we would eat was Cadbury’s Fingers and all we drank was Lady Grey tea, it was kind of our fuel you know? And then it just kind of stuck, and we used to joke about who Lady Grey was and I don’t know, I sort of idolised the character we created,” I explain as best I can.
“So, you became her?” Harry asks softly, his smile never faltering once while I spoke.
“Yeah, Lady Grey and Lucy Hind were going to take on the world together,” I say, looking down at the tablecloth, a slight feeling of embarrassment for oversharing my childhood dreams. It probably seemed so silly to him.
“And you are,” is all he says.
When I look up at him, his eyes are so gentle and comforting, and staring into them feels like stepping into a warm bath.
The waiter arrives back to our table to take our orders, preventing me from drooling over how idyllic this date is becoming. Harry apologises for the two of us, neither having even looked at the food menu yet, and asks for another minute. Eventually, we order our food and the conversation continues to flow easily, finding out about each other’s passions for not only music, but art in general, both discovering that the other loves to draw and paint despite having very minimal talent for it.
We talk about what we are working on, both giddy at gaining secret information about the other’s new projects. He whispers to me that he has a new album coming out at the end of the year, in return I tell him I have a small tour happening in a few months, a few intimate venues across the country. He tells me he would love to come to a show. I mentally let out a scream.
We discuss our hometowns throughout the main course, both hailing from the north of England, giggling over the surprising culture shock of living in LA. Conversation moves to talking about our families and still feeling homesick.
“I’ve been writing about home a lot recently,” I admit, finishing my second glass of wine, “I miss the colour green so much,” I laugh honestly, missing the miles and miles of fields and trees I could see from my family home.
“I get that completely,” he says, refilling my glass without me even having to ask, “I miss my little village and knowing everyone there. LA can feel a bit lonely at times,”
There is a pregnant pause, silence falling over the two of us as I give him a small nod, understanding wholly the feeling of moving across the world. It is scary and isolating and you really have to push through and commit to your work to ensure it was all worthwhile. However, that does not leave much room for forging any kind of relationship other than professional. Harry is right, it can be very lonely sometimes.
I find myself watching him, eyes a little bit softened by the wine and the evening light. Seeing his face flicker under the crackling firelight feels like I am seeing him for the first time, as though his features are completely new to me and I get to meet a whole new person. He really is breath-taking. Something about getting to know him allows me to see his personality in his physicality; patient eyes and dimples that deepen every time I nearly knock over my glass and insist that I am not drunk, that this is just how I am. Finding myself smiling while I watch him, I remind myself to act like a normal human being and sip at my wine.
But he watches me right back.
When desert rolls around, both of us are too full to appreciate anything fancy, sadly deciding to call it a night. After insisting that we split the bill, threatening to get his bank account details somehow and send him a direct deposit, we leave the table.
“Man, I shouldn’t have worn this dress, looks like I’m smuggling a watermelon,” I say, rubbing my bloated belly slightly as we walk through the restaurant, now significantly emptier than when I had arrived nearly three hours earlier.
“I like it,” Harry tells me, biting back a smirk, “Wrote a song about watermelons, actually,”
“Really? You’ll have to let me hear it sometime,” I say, thanking him as he holds the door open for me to walk through.
“Do you, uh, do you need a lift home?” Harry asks once we are outside, wrapping our jackets a little tighter around ourselves in the early autumn air. I pause to look at him and assess the sincerity of his offer. When he looks at me with nothing but kindness and caution, I nod, finding his trepidation incredibly endearing.
“That would be great, thank you,” I say softly, failing to mention that I would say yes to any offer he made so long as it meant I could spend longer getting to know him.
“Cool!” he says with so much enthusiasm that I have to bite down on my bottom lip to keep from smiling too big, utterly smitten with him. Harry clears his throat and pulls out his phone, calling his driver to come and pick us up. “He’ll be five minutes,” his voice is back to its low rumble when he turns to me, a light flush spread across his cheekbones. I pretend not to notice, instead fixing my attention to the roses in my hand.
“I’ve had a really nice time,” I tell him, hoping that in showing some vulnerability it will ease his embarrassment. It works. As I look up at him, he meets my gaze and smiles down at me gently.
“Me too. I think you’re really cool to be around,” he says tenderly, taking a step closer to me so that he is less than an arm’s length away. “More than exceeded my expectations for tonight,” he teases.
“I think part of me still thinks this is a prank,” I admit, breathing a laugh as I find myself gravitating closer to Harry, silently praying that he will kiss me.
“I know, I was listening to Penny on the way here to keep me sane,” his voice has dropped to just above a whisper, his face less than a foot from mine.
“As if,” I laugh incredulously, finding myself stepping back slightly so I do not deafen him.
“I was!” he defends with a chuckle, “I love that song,”
“Sorry,” I breathe, “I just didn’t think anyone really listened to it, except maybe my parents,”
“It was the first song of yours I ever heard,” he says, closing the gap between us again, “Thought how talented you were, even wanted to cover it.”
Back into the simulation you go.
“Wanna make sweet music together?” I tease, my voice a little low and breathy as the space between us rapidly reduces.
Harry exhales a chuckle, eyes flitting between my own and my lips.
He is fully going to kiss you.
Or at least he would, if that had not been the moment Harry’s driver decides to pull up to the curb, startling us both. Gaze fixed to the ground to hide my certainly bright pink cheeks, I shuffle into the car when Harry opens the door for me, sliding in shortly afterwards.
“Where to?” Harry asks, clearing his throat slightly.
I tell him my address, watching as he and his driver share a small nod before we set off.
The first few minutes of the ride are, I will admit, awkward. The only sound to be heard is the crinkling of the paper surrounding my flowers, my hands fidgeting nervously.
He was going to kiss me. He totally would have kissed me if we were alone for just one more moment.
An assertive person would kiss him now.
Would he want that? Would I want that? For our first kiss to be in the back of his car as we drove through my neighbourhood. I’m not so sure. Harry feels special, like he deserves a bit more romance than that.
I continue to fiddle with the paper in my lap.
“What’s your favourite flower?” I ask curiously, eyes fixating on the bright yellow petals.
“Quite like apple blossoms,” he tells me. His voice is soft, and I can tell his head is turned to look directly at me.
“See, I never would have guessed that.” I confess. Upon hearing him breathe a laugh, I follow it up with a mirrored tone, “What? You’re a mysterious dude.”
“Very mysterious,” he jokes as I look back up at him. There is a warmth in his eyes as they shimmer with laughter. It is almost as though the small amount of time focussing on something other than him has erased all memory of his face. Suddenly, excitement courses through my body. His stupid, happy face making my stomach squeeze itself.
“A real enigma,” I smirk after gathering myself.
There is silence again in the car, our eyes softly locked on the other’s, even as we pull up beside my house.
“This is me,” my voice is barely louder than a whisper.
“I’ll walk you,” Harry says, our gaze still unmoved.
For a moment, my mind drifts to Harry’s driver. I wonder what he makes of us sitting in the back of his car despite reaching our destination. Perhaps he thinks it is sweet, two kids still so nervous enough around one another that we both refuse to make a move. Maybe he thinks we are crazy and should just get out of the car like normal people would.
I nod my head slightly, more so trying to encourage myself to get moving rather than Harry. In all honesty, I would love little more than to just sit here and look at him, to feel whatever tension there is between us for a moment longer. But I steal myself away from that thought and open the car door.
Harry, ever the gentleman, sees me to my front door. It is a little old-fashioned but incredibly charming, nonetheless. I turn to face him once we reach the doorstep, craning my neck a little to meet his eyes.
My gaze lingers a moment on his lips, and I wonder if I should kiss him. Or would he not like that? He seems like he would not be opposed to a woman making the first move, but he is also the type to open doors and walk people to their homes. What if he wants to be the one to initiate? I doubt he would find me kissing him to be emasculating, but what if he recoiled at the thought? Maybe I shouldn’t kiss him. Maybe I should invite him inside. I will admit, the idea of ending the night with him sounds idyllic, but what if that gives the wrong impression. What if he is the type of guy who cares about a woman’s sexual habits? I never would have him pegged for that sort of person, but you never know.
Nerves and paranoia form a whirlpool in my brain, sucking me in until I am so overwhelmed that all I can physically do is stare at him, trying not to allow my eyes to widen too far in fear of looking like a maniac.
He looks down at me with a gentle gaze, his right hand lifting and fingertips gently grazing the side of my left hand. His thumb brushes across my wrists, his eyes flitting across my face until I am convinced that he has stopped on my lips. The palpable energy from outside the restaurant returns.
“Can I—” Harry starts but I interrupt him.
“Yes,” I say hurriedly, my heart beating a little louder in my chest at the thought of his lips against mine.
Thank goodness he’s making the first move. If it were up to you, you would be standing here for days.
“Great,” he smiles broadly, quickly retracting his hand from mine and reaching into the inside pocket of his suit jacket, “Lets make music sometime.”
Harry hands me his unlocked phone.
 You absolute fucking idiot, V.
I quickly input my phone number and hand it back to him with a small smile.
“Great,” he grins, part of me hating how adorable he is, the majority simply hating how dim-witted I am.
He wasn’t trying to kiss you.
“Hang out again soon?” he asks brightly.
I just nod and return a polite smile. He beams down at me before bidding me goodnight and walking back to his car.
As quick as physically possible, I unlock my front door, dash inside and shut the door behind me.
 Idiot, idiot, idiot.
I sink to the floor, back pressed to the door. He wants to work together. While that notion alone would have had me fainting before tonight, I cannot help but feel a little disheartened to have misread the situation.
He didn’t want to kiss you.
My mind quickly scans through the whole evening, wonder at which event I began to misinterpret the signals. Maybe he was going to give me a hug outside the restaurant. Maybe he actually was going to kiss me, but then I laughed in his face and stepped away from him. Did I put him off me that quickly?
Pulling myself off the floor, I put the flowers in a mug of water, telling myself I will deal with them tomorrow once I am over the embarrassment.
 * * *
I barely sleep, tossing and turning and reliving every stupid detail and mistake I undoubtedly made.
“You absolute cow!” I shout with a laugh when I spot Lucy walking towards me.
She just laughs along with me, a slight bashful blush arising in her cheeks as she steps closer to me.
I had text her when I got home last night, asking her to meet me first thing and she had agreed. Meeting at the dog park between our houses had been my idea, desperate to see her new Dalmatian puppy, Pip. I had arrived early, pre-emptively getting Lucy and I lattes, knowing fully well that no matter what time I got there I would still beat her by at least ten minutes.
“Thanks, gorgeous,” Lucy greets, taking the coffee I had extended to her.
“Hello, sweetpea,” I say in a higher pitch than my natural tone, crouching to welcome the excited dog. Pip wags her tail aggressively, desperately trying to lick my face. I giggle as my face scrunches at all the attention she is giving me, “I know, I know, it’s been a whole two days since I saw you, how could I neglect you like that?”
“She pissed on my shoes. Right little dickhead,” Lucy muses as I stand up, giving the pup one last scratch behind the ears. My eyes drop to her feet as we begin to walk through the park. “Not these ones, idiot,” she laughs.
“Don’t call me an idiot, I have a bone to pick with you,” I reply, trying my very hardest to chastise her but just giggling through it, faking sincerity always having been difficult for me, “What was it you told me? ‘Its just a date, no biggie’?”
“Something like that,” she mumbles, feigning shame but smirking as she looks at the ground.
“Harry Styles,” I mock, “Harry fucking Styles. You could have warned me, mate! I thought about him in the shower before dinner, thought I must have slipped and bumped my head when he rocked up,”
Lucy laughs as continue through the park, walking out on to the open expanse of the field. Pip excitedly yaps at the dogs playing in the distance, a little too young to join them just yet. We walk in bemused silence for a moment until we find a bench and take seat on it, sipping intermittently at our cooled down coffees.
“How was it then? Complete disaster or did you hold it together?” Lucy asks.
“Well, I thought I was holding it together, we were even kind of flirty,” I begin. Remembering last night stirs up excitement in my stomach, contrasting my skin crawling with embarrassment, “But he never kissed me. He walked me to my door, got me to give him my number and left,”
Luce nods, letting me give her the gist of the previous night, not pushing for more information as I bounce one of my legs anxiously. “He got your number though?” She offers, always looking on the bright side.
“Yeah, because he wants to make music together,” I say, a small smirk interrupting my words.
“Make music or make music?” She teases, wiggling her eyebrows dramatically.
“I don’t know!” I laugh, giving her a gentle push when she keeps leaning closer to me and putting her creepy moving eyebrows in my eyeline, “We complimented each other and stuff, and it became a bit of a joke but now I’m worried he was serious and I just made a fool out of myself… I did have half a bottle of wine,” my tone more serious now.
“One, you’re a delight when you drink. Two, I bet Harry was such a fucking flirt, ‘Oh yeah, baby, lets make symphonies with our bodies’,” I cannot help but crack a smile at her, surprisingly accurate, impression, “And three, even if you did misread things, it sounds like he would be up for working with you, and if I remember correctly, you said you’d give your left kidney to sing a duet with him,”
“I’m never drinking sambuca again,” I mutter, shuddering at the memory of that night, drunkenly screaming as Sweet Creature played over the speakers of the bar.
“I say text him,” Lucy shrugs as if the solution is so obvious that she cannot understand why the two of us are even having this conversation.
“Ah,” I breath, “That’s another thing. I was a bit distracted by the whole ‘not wanting to kiss me’ thing that I forgot to ask for his number.”
“Idiot,” Lucy giggles, picking up Pip as she paws at her leg and setting her between the two of us on the bench, allowing me better access to pet her freely, “I’ll text it you,”
“I can’t text him out of the blue, won’t that look psycho?” I stress.
“No,” Lucy says, again so plainly it is as though she cannot believe she is explaining something so simple, “Pretty sure Harry likes confident people anyway.”
“Why would he want to date me then?” I mumble, eyes fixed on Pip’s as her mouth hangs open, tongue rolling out happily as she gets attention from the both of us.
“Maybe because you can throw it back like no one I’ve ever seen,” Lucy teases.
“Fucking hate sambuca,” I grumble half-heartedly.
The text from Lucy arrives on my phone a few hours later, just as I step out of the shower. I have to wipe a few droplets of water from the screen before it allows me to unlock it.
 Don’t puss out x
Underneath is what I can only assume is Harry’s number. I stare at the white screen for a while, contemplating whether or not to text him. Should I? Luce said he liked confidence, and I wanted him to like me, or at least not think of me as some blob of flesh he sat through dinner with. What would I say? What possible message could I send that did not make me sound like a creep?
Hey it’s Violet. Lucy gave me your number, promise I didn’t ask for it
 No, that sounds rude.
Hi, it’s Violet from last night. Lucy gave me your number, hope you don’t mind. I’d love to make sweet music with you
He could read that two ways. Either he would read it as me just wanting to work together, or that I wanted to see him with no clothes on. Neither option appeal despite both being shamefully accurate.
The condensation on my bathroom mirror has almost vanished by the time I set my phone back down. Desperate to go about my day without worrying, I head across the landing and into my bedroom.
Despite having lived here for well over a year, the Los Angeles heat never fails to stifle me, even as autumn creeps into view. The humidity seeps into my bare skin as I flop back on my bed, urgently searching for a reason to get back up and be proactive with the work I need to get done today. That in itself should be reason enough, but the temperature in my room seems to counter any sensible thoughts in my brain. So, I let my eyes close for a moment.
However, Lucy’s words keep circling around in my mind.
 ‘Don’t puss out’
That is what I always do. Deciding to grow a backbone, I stand up and march back into the bathroom to pick up my phone. I quickly unlock it, ignoring the notifications on my lock screen, assuming its just my manager prompting me to get my act together. I quickly copy the phone number from Lucy and make a contact for Harry, set on typing a message to him and pressing send before I can overthink how keen I will most likely come across.
 You are keen.
Selecting his contact, my phone takes me to a chat with him, however, it is not blank like I had expected. Instead, there is a white bubble of text, a smaller bubble beneath it, both timestamped seven minutes ago.
I know films and tv shows always say you should wait at least three days before messaging but I reckon it’s all bollocks. I had a really good time last night and would love to hang out again. I understand if this seems a bit eager so I’ll leave it up to you. Whatever you fancy I’m up for – Harry
Also I don’t know why I signed that off like it’s an email but I’m going to stick with it so I seem confident – Harry

PART V
 November 2025
Life without tennis was weird, that was the conclusion Lucy arrived to after two months since her retirement. It wasn’t necessarily bad, just very different. She didn’t regret her decision, not at all, but it’ll take some to get used to that new situation. She spent a bit over a week in LA while the band was doing promo, then went away for a week, just her and Niall, back in Maui, celebrating their wedding anniversary and whatever the future had in store for them. That was good, quite normal, but coming back and not going back to training was not normal. Not having to wake up early was not normal. Not having to pay attention to her food or being able to drink alcohol as freely as she wanted was not normal. Well, it was her new normal and she should probably start getting used to it.
It wasn’t like she didn’t have anything else to do. She went to see her parents and stayed with them for a week. She had been making moves on starting the management to help young tennis players, attending meeting after meeting, trying to be as involved as her knowledge allowed her to, all the pieces slowly but steadily falling into place.
Her life hadn’t necessarily slowed down, it just took a different course. And in the middle of it all, her and Niall also started looking at houses. Their friends said it was crazy, them running around, from meetings and Niall’s rehearsals with the band, hurrying to not be late to meet with their estate agent. Lucy was actually more tired than she was while playing. But she wasn’t complaining. Because no matter how chaotic the days were, in the end, it was always her and Niall, under the same roof, in the same bed, together.
Even though they were both busy, they were about to be even busier. Well, Niall mostly. With the band’s first album after reunion being released in just over a week and a world tour starting in January, he definitely won’t be complaining about too much free time on his hands.
They just got home from looking at yet another house (fourth this week), going straight to the kitchen, with Lucy starting to heat up dinner she prepped earlier, while Niall put a kettle on for some tea. Even though they hadn’t spent a ton of time together at home, especially considering how long they had been in a relationship, they had no problem falling into step with each other.
“So, what did you think?” he asked, stepping behind her and putting a hand on the small of her back while reaching up beside her head to pull out two mugs from the cupboard. Because they drove separate cars, coming from different locations, they hadn’t even had a chance to talk properly.
“Um… It was alright, I liked the exterior, it’s very well-kept. Big garden, which is nice,” Lucy said, turning slightly to follow Niall’s moves.
“What about the inside?” he asked.
She shrugged. “I don’t know. It’d need some renovation.”
He sighed, passing her a steaming cup, knowing she liked her tea almost scolding hot. She took it with a smile, also noticing he chose her favourite mug. “How come there are no good houses in London?”
“I know, right? I did not expect it to be that hard to find a nice home.” Because Niall was close enough, she took half a step and rested her forehead on his shoulder, him instantly putting an arm around her to rub her back.
“Could you see us in any that we’ve seen?” he asked after planting a sweet kiss on her hairline.
“I like the one we saw yesterday,” she said, raising her head, but staying pressed to his body. “It needs a lot of work, but it has good structure. It was finished terribly, we would have to change the floors probably, maybe take down a wall or two…”
 “That’s probably doable though, right?”
“Did you like it?” she asked. It obviously needed to be a mutual decision, even if they may not stay in that house forever.
“Yeah, I did,” he assured. “It has everything we wanted, just needs some work, but at least we wouldn’t have to rebuild it. And I liked the location a lot.”
“Me too.” She wrapped her arms around his waist, her mouth going into the kiss. “Should we arrange for a contractor to take a look? See if it’d all be possible to do?”
“Mmm, yeah,” he agreed, planting another kiss on her lips. “I know it’s not perfect, but I’d say we try, I think we’ll feel different once we’re done with it.”
“I was never a big fan of perfect anyway,” she shrugged.
“In everything except your husband, obviously,” Niall pointed out.
Lucy laughed. “Oh, that especially, I settled.”
He looked at her offended, pinching her waist, which earned a yelp from her, instantly squirming in his hold. But he held her tightly, finding her lips for yet another kiss, both their faces lighting up with grins. They truly did not need a perfect house, because they already found the perfect home in each other.
 ~~
The album was out. One Direction was officially back and everyone was loving it. The guys were special guests at the morning radio show, then did a few more interviews before arriving at the venue for their special show. It was their first proper show, only performing the singles on tv or radio before. But tonight was a ‘one night only’, when they would play the new album in its entirety, as well as their biggest hits, obviously.
Lucy, Maya and Ines met up at the venue, waiting for their guys to arrive. Eleanor was coming later with Freddie, everyone’s families and friends were going to be there as well. It was a big day and the buzz was evident in the air. When the band finally arrived, everyone could tell they were scared about the upcoming show. But there were also huge smiles on their faces and excitement coursing through their veins. They just hadn’t done it all in a while.
They all sat down to have dinner together, talking about their day, the amazing reaction the album got and everything in between. It was truly heartwarming to see them back together and happy like that.
Soon after, the guys had to go to soundcheck, the girls standing up, ready to join them, all except Lucy.
“Are you not coming?” Maya asked, looking at her surprised.
“Nope, this one is banned,” Niall replied before Lucy could utter a word, throwing an arm around her and squeezing her shoulder with a wicked smile on his face.
“Why?” Harry asked, looking at the couple with intrigue.
“Well, I’ve actually never seen your show, so he wants me to watch it properly,” she explained.
“No spoilers,” Niall smiled, proud of himself.
“You’ve seriously never been to our show?” Liam asked incredulously, to which Lucy shook her head. “Have you been living under a rock?” he snickered, genuinely surprised. Judging from the amount of people who used to come to their shows, they kind of thought most people have seen them perform at some point.
“Nope, just travelling the world, being one of the top tennis players, you know, the usual,” she replied with a laugh.
“Well, it might be for the better that you haven’t seen us in our golden years,” started Louis, “at least you’ll be less disappointed tonight.”
“Oh come off it, you’re gonna be amazing,” Ines chastened him, hitting his arm playfully.
 “Yeah, yeah.”
“Okay, lads, we need to go,” said Harry, trying to rush the boys, knowing their team was waiting.
“I’m actually gonna stay too,” Ines said, when he reached for her hand.
“Me too,” joined Maya. “It’ll be fun watching the show with a fresh mind.”
“Well okay then, we’ll be extra sexy during soundcheck, so you’ll be missing a lot,” Harry said playfully, which earned him a few laughs.
Each couple shared a kiss and hugs, with Louis making whiny noises behind them, because Eleanor wasn’t there yet, before the guys finally left.
Lucy loved hanging out with the girls. They were all very different, but still got along well, having this amazing thing connecting them. It was the same with the boys, all four of them with very different personalities, but forming a bond as strong as true brotherhood. It was the type of relationship you wouldn’t understand if you weren’t a part of.
She had fun hanging backstage, she always enjoyed those moments, everyone buzzing with excitement, talking, relaxing before going out there, and sharing it with the band, the atmosphere was even better. It was like a family.
After sending Niall off with one last kiss and an unneeded ‘good luck’, Lucy went out into the crowd. All the women decided to watch the show from the stands, only choosing side stage for the last few songs, so they could hug their men right after.
Watching Niall on stage has always been an incredible experience, making Lucy not only smile, but her heart fill with warmth, love and admiration. But seeing Niall on stage with his three brothers was another level. It was so easy to see just how much love those four guys had for each other, for what they were doing together. And the crowd… She had been to many of Niall’s shows, but she’s never seen or heard a crowd like that. That loud, that passionate. It was breathtaking. And knowing not only how hard the guys worked for it, but especially how much it all meant to them, made it even more awestracking. If she felt like that standing on the sidelines, she couldn’t even imagine how it must feel for the four men on stage.
Lucy knew Niall loved watching her play. And she felt like she truly understood why. How proud he always felt. Because seeing him up there on stage, she felt exactly the same way. There was nothing better than watching the person you loved doing the thing they loved.
April 2026
Niall was finally home. Sure, it’s only been 11 days since Lucy left the band’s tour and flew back home to take care of some businesses, meet with the few players her management was considering signing and oversee the renovation of their house. She spent over two months by Niall’s side, travelling through America and watching him perform night after night. And even after that time, she hadn’t gotten bored with seeing him on stage. She probably never would, just like he’d never get tired of performing.
Having just over two weeks together at home came at the perfect time. Not only because there were a few things that needed to be done in London, but mostly considering the conversation she had to have with her husband. A conversation that required a certain level of privacy, which was quite hard to find while almost constantly being surrounded by people on tour.
She occupied her time waiting with cooking dinner, his favourite of course, but her mind and stomach were turning, both with uncertainty of the upcoming conversation and excitement of seeing Niall again. But the sound of their gate opening brought her back to earth, making her instantly turn off the stove and leave the kitchen to properly welcome her husband.
She got outside just as Niall was grabbing his suitcase, so she ran up to him and threw her arms around his body, which was as familiar to her as her own, if not more. He saw her coming, having managed to close the boot of the car and open his arms just in time to catch her. At that moment she was so carefree, running wild just because she missed him, not caring about what the driver might think or how it might look, just happy to have her love home.
“Hi,” he said joyfully, moving his hand from her waist to cup her cheek and leaning down for a kiss.
“Welcome home,” she said before going in for a second kiss. They were both aware that they were stood in their driveway and not exactly alone, so they refrained from making out like teenagers.
“Thanks, John, see you soon!” Niall said over his shoulder to his driver, grabbing his suitcase in one hand, the other wrapping around Lucy and leading them into the house.
As soon as they were inside and the door was closed, his mouth was back on her.
“Niall,” she laughed, when after a minute he moved to her neck, “I made dinner.”
“Not hungry,” he said hurriedly, like he wanted to spend as little time without the contact of her skin as possible.
“But,” Lucy started, which made Niall pull away slightly, putting his hand on the back of her neck making their eyes meet. It was like that look made her grounded again, all the worries, stress, all the different scenarios she made up in her head, none of that mattered. He always had this amazing gift of making everything else disappear. Like it was just them two, at that very moment, their feelings the only thing that mattered. “I guess the dinner can wait,” she agreed, marking her words with a playful tag at his hair.
“Missed you, love,” he said with a wicked smile, before raising her up, her legs instinctively wrapping around his waist to hold tight, and carrying her upstairs to show her just how much he really missed her.
 ~~
They were enjoying the peace and quiet after dinner, cuddled on the couch, an old rerun of the show they’ve seen already humming in the background while they chatted a bit, sharing the things that happened the last couple of days, even though they already knew the majority through their phone calls. The company of their spouse always brought a level of comfort, no matter where they were, but when they were together at home, there truly was nothing better.
Lucy turned her head slightly to check if Niall hadn’t drifted off to sleep during the lull in their talks and when he looked back at her with the softest smile, the one reserved only for her, she said what’s been on her mind for the past three days.
 “I might be pregnant.”
Her statement made Niall sit up, turning his body to face her properly, his hands grabbing hers to make sure her attention is all focused on him.
“How sure are you?” he asked softly, his voice level, oozing nothing but calmness.
“Um… Not really, I’m late, but I haven’t taken any tests.”
He let go of one of her hands to rake a hand through his hair. “Shit, okay, should we go get some now?”
She bit her lip nervously. “There are three waiting in the bathroom upstairs.”
He looked at her carefully, trying to decipher how she felt about it all, but he could only see the slightly shake to her hands and a soft smile gracing her lips, which was a bit contradictory, but in a way he felt like he understood her mood perfectly, a balance between very nervous and excited.
“Shall we go now, then?” he asked carefully.
“Yeah,” she said getting up, Niall halting her for a second before she could walk away, their lips meeting in a very reassuring kiss, before leading her upstairs with a hand on the small of her back.
Lucy had three different tests she bought the day before tucked away in a medicine cabinet, waiting for Niall to get home, because it didn’t feel right to check on her own. She went into the bathroom, her husband walking circles around their bedroom, leaving the door slightly ajar. She picked all three tests up, read the instructions carefully before peeing on the sticks, laying them all on the sink and rejoining Niall in the room to not wait alone.
“Hey, you’re alright, yeah?” he asked, coming right up to her and grabbing her shoulders, massaging them slightly.
“Yes,” she said, stepping closer to hug him, needing the safety of his arms. “I didn’t expect it, but whatever happens, it’s okay. I mean we want kids anyway and maybe it isn’t the best time and we didn’t really plan it, but we’re ready, right?”
He smiled at her, reaching up to tuck a stray of hair behind her ear. “I think so, yes.”
They took a minute embracing each other, both holding the other tightly, both having this epiphany that their lives might be changed in a matter of minutes. There were some soft kisses shared, loving words of reassurance whispered, before Lucy’s alarm ringed out, Niall squeezing her one more time before wrapping an arm around her waist, their bodies colliding as he led them into the bathroom to see the results.
“You look,” she said, burying her head into his shoulder, trying to take deep breaths and stay calm. She wasn’t afraid of being pregnant. Sure it would change a lot, a kid would probably turn their lives upside down. But it wasn’t like they never talked about it, they both wanted kids, they wanted kids together. She loved Niall, he was her forever, there was no trace of doubt about that in her mind. But it was still scary.
“Hey, look at me,” Niall said after a minute, his calloused fingers cupping both her cheeks. When she looked into his eyes, she could see them begin to glisten. “They’re all positive.”
Before she could say anything, a huge smile broke into her face, Niall’s face instantly mirroring hers. “We’re gonna be parents,” she whispered, as it was some kind of secret only they knew, like she didn’t want to share it with anyone else, it was only for Lucy and Niall.
“We’re gonna be parents,” he whispered back, resting his forehead against hers, before pulling her impossibly close, his lips finding hers, the kiss soft and urgent at the same time.
When he pulled away after quite a few more kisses, he grabbed her by the waist, lifting her and swung her around the bathroom, the biggest smile on his face, a laugh escaping his lips, she was also pretty sure she caught a tear running down his cheek. She had her doubts, she had to admit that, but she was also incredibly happy. Niall felt like her home for the longest time, but now they’d be a proper family. They were growing, they were making even more plans together, it was all evolving, growing, especially the love. She didn’t think it was possible, but it truly felt like the love they shared only grew and grew and all she could hope for was that it would never stop.
 ~~
As Lucy slowly came into consciousness, the sun trying to seep into the room through the curtains, as soon as her eyes cracked open, she saw Niall. It was the best feeling to wake up and feel his body connected with hers, even if it was just their feet tangled together. But it was a rare sight to wake up and see her husband already awake. But this morning he was just that, lying on his side, an arm curled under his head, watching her.
“What time is it?” Lucy asked, rubbing her eyes, voice groggy from sleep.
“Don’t know,” Niall replied shrugging, his eyes not leaving her face.
“How long have you been awake?” She turned on her side to face him properly, her hand setting on his bare torso.
“Don’t know.” He reached his hand to push back the hair falling onto her face, before lifting his head to plant a good morning peck on her lips.
She looked at him with furrowed brows, his behaviour a bit unusual. “Do you know anything? Have you not looked at the clock?” It wasn’t like him to wake up before her but it was even more unlike him to not check his phone right after.
“Nope.” His face was lit up by a content smile, his hand travelling from her cheek to her waist to pull her closer.
“Why not?” she asked, eager to get some answers, see what was going on inside his head.
“Why would I?” He threw the question back at her. “It doesn’t matter, we don’t have anywhere to be today. Why would I waste time looking at the time when I have such a beautiful angel to admire beside me?”
Even though the room wasn’t entirely bright, the curtains keeping the sun out for the most part, she could easily see the love in his eyes.
“What got you all soppy this morning?” she laughed, feeling her cheeks warming up at his words.
“You get me soppy all the time, it’s your magic ability.” He moved even closer, wrapping his entire body around her, burying his head in the crook of her neck.
“I missed this,” she admitted, pushing her fingers through his hair. “There’s nothing better than waking up together.”
He hummed, his hands gently roaming over her body before setting underneath her t-shirt (or rather, his), right on her belly. Her heart skipped a beat. Niall planted a kiss on her neck, before pulling away to press their foreheads together, looking not only into her eyes, but straight into her soul. Lucy could feel her eyes starting to glisten, and who knows, maybe it was the hormones, there were definitely many emotions filling her, the strongest of them all being love.
“We’re really gonna have a baby soon,” Niall whispered, cupping her cheek, ready to catch any tear that might escape.
“Yeah,” she managed to say, before he leaped in to kiss her, wanting to show her just how happy he was, how in awe and in love he was, how grateful he was for her.
“You’re okay with that, right? Having a kid now?” he asked after a minute, his voice laced with the slightest hint of insecurity. They talked about it last night, but he wanted to check in again, after some of the emotions died down.
Just looking at him, concerned about her and her feelings, made her heart soar and a smile graced her lips. “Of course I am. It’s unexpected, sure, but I’d say we’re in a pretty good place, maybe it’s not ideal timing, but it’s not terrible either.” She propped her head on her shoulder to get a better look at Niall, making sure he not only heard her, but also knew she meant every word. “I’m happy. We’ve known for a while we wanted children, so we might as well start now, right? We’re having a baby, of course I’m happy. Pretty scared, but happy.”
“I feel like the happiest man, honestly. You always make me the happiest.” He grinned so much this morning, his cheeks would probably start aching before the clock even hit noon.
“Do you think we’ll be alright as parents?” she asked, grabbing his hand to play with his fingers.
“Well, I have no doubt you’re gonna be the best mum. And I’d like to think I’m gonna be an alright dad.”
“You’ve always been amazing with kids.”
“Yeah, but it’s a bit different with your own, right?” He shrugged before moving onto his back and looking at the ceiling, like it could hold some answers. “I think you might have to be the strict parent most of the time. I’m too soft for those kinds of things.”
Lucy chuckled, leaning up and over him. “We’ll figure it out,” she assured. “I need to call my doctor and actually get an appointment first.”
“You’re still coming with us to Europe, right?” He asked, looking up at her hopefully.
“Yeah, it should be okay, right? We’ll ask the doctor, but I think so. We need to get the house done though. Especially now.”
“Don’t worry about it, we’ll make it. Everything will be alright and if not, we’ll figure it out.”
She went in for another kiss, before settling down onto his chest. “I love you.”
“And I love you.” He moved his hand around to her belly and looked down. “And you little bean.”
July 2026
“You can see my belly, can’t you?” Lucy asked, turning every which way in front of the mirror.
Niall glanced at her from his place on the bed, looking away from the emails he’s been responding to and taking in his wife. She had a pretty summer dress on, the mixture of elegant and cute, looking as beautiful as ever. But he felt like he was on thin ice, because yes, he could easily make out a small baby bump beneath the material, but he was more than familiar with her body and was pretty sure this was not the response Lucy wanted to hear.
“Well… Yeah, but that’s just because I know it’s there,” he said, gesticulating to her stomach.
She huffed irritatedly, clearly not happy with his answer. “I don’t have anything to wear, then.”
Niall sighed (but not loudly enough for her to hear), closing his laptop and going to stand behind his wife, grabbing her hand to pull her close. “You look beautiful, love. And if someone can spot your bump, so what?” He knew Lucy wasn’t feeling great lately. Her belly started growing and as much as he thought that made her even more sexy, she didn’t feel perfectly comfortable with it yet, so used to the way her body had been pretty much the same for years. The fact that she had been feeling like shit, growing tired way too soon and morning sickness lasting almost all day, did not help.
“It’ll probably make tens of articles pop up speculating,” she reasoned, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He shrugged, clearly unbothered. “I say, let them. Fuck it, you know? It’s ours, yeah, but we can’t keep it on the downlow forever, so we should just do whatever we want to. And not care. You are pregnant, so why hide it?”
She bit her lip, taking a moment to think through his words. “Are you sure I look alright?” she asked again. “There will be a lot of people. And pictures.”
“You look stunning, Lulu,” he assured, marking his words with a kiss. “Like always, but even more. You’re glowing and I’m loving it.”
“I do not feel glowing,” she huffed.
He looked at her with concern. The doctor said it was all normal, some women feeling better, some worse, so technically there was no cause for concern, but he still worried, especially knowing that she was happy with the pregnancy, but couldn’t actually enjoy it, because it was not being easy on her. Having her on tour with him was good and bad at the same time, he was glad he could keep an eye on her, but it was hard seeing her struggle, especially all the travelling taking its toll on her. She assured him she was fine, time and time again, being an absolute champ about it all, which of course she was. But he was a husband, it was his job to worry.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay today? How’s the sickness?” he asked, holding her steady by the waist and taking a step back to look at her properly, almost like he was trying to assess her state, even though there were no clear symptoms.
“Not awful, but not the best either,” Lucy admitted, having trouble to even remember when was the last time she actually felt good. She took his hands and wrapped them tight around her waist, stepping closer to him once again. “You’ll be by my side, so I’ll be alright.”
He sighed, knowing there was no point in discussing it further. He did plan to make her ginger tea in a travel mug, so she could drink it on their way, hopefully calming some of her nausea, because that was pretty much all he could do to help her. “Are you excited?” he asked, changing the subject. They were going to watch the women's final at Wimbledon, with Lucy not only being invited, but also asked to take part in the trophy ceremony. It was a great honour, he understood that, of course he did, but just a little part of him wished she would take it easy. Stay home if she didn’t feel great. Especially because he knew she was stressed out about it. Not only about how she looked, despite all the questions she just asked, that was probably the least of her concern. She didn’t like being in public like that. Maybe she wouldn’t be the centre of attention, but she’d still be under the spotlight. She worried about making a mistake, having thousands of eyes on her, all the comments that might come after. She knew how to play on a tennis court, not hand trophies.
“Yeah. Really excited,” Lucy said, a smile taking over her face. “A little stressed, especially since I could technically feel the urge to throw up at any minute.” Niall was about to say something, probably along the lines of her canceling, so she pressed her palm against his mouth to shut him up. “But it should be fine. I’m really hoping Naomi will win, she deserves it so much.”
She didn’t just say it because she had beaten Naomi last year, but as a friend and a fellow player. They already made plans to meet up for lunch on Monday for a little catch up.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, they asked us to come in on Wednesday to see the house, they need some decisions regarding the living room, I think.” Lucy said, after Niall finally went into their wardrobe to change. She was just about to hurry him, not wanting to be late and knowing the traffic will probably be awful.
“Do you have any other plans on Wednesday?” he asked, coming back into the room, dress pants on and starting to button a light blue shirt.
“There might be a meeting regarding the sporting centre, I’m not sure yet. But if I’m busy you’ll handle it, right?” Lucy asked, not even trying to hide the fact that she was ogling her husband’s naked chest. Damn, she loved his body. And his heart and soul, but his body… It made her crazy, especially now when her hormones were all over the place.
“Yeah, of course,” he said right away, knowing Lucy was actually the one making sure everything was on track with their house, so he could take some of that load now that he was home for three weeks.
“And I might not be coming out for that last leg of your tour.” She said, finally turning around and going to put finishing touches on her makeup.
“Wait, what? Why?” Niall asked, stopping his movements to look at her.
“Just…. The house is gonna be a shit show next month, with most of the general work being finished, the furniture and equipment starting to arrive, the other crew coming in… We can’t ask Mia and Nat to keep an eye on it all the time.” She didn’t turn around, didn’t even raise her eyes to look at him through the mirror, because she didn’t want to see his expression. Seeing the disappointment on his face might just make her cry. And she spent way too much time trying to make her eyes look decent with makeup to destroy it now. “Plus there’s been talk of some more meetings, getting the ball really rolling for the centre… And it might be good for me to slow down for a bit. Especially all the travelling. I haven’t decided yet, maybe I’ll come down for Australia.”
“Oh okay. I mean…” he sighed, his hand going up to his hair and stopping at the very last second when he remembered it was already styled. “Yeah, it might be good for you to chill for a minute. But I’ll hate not seeing you for weeks again. And I don’t like the prospect of leaving you alone with it all.”
Lucy finished applying her lipstick before finally turning around, his eyes already trained on her, a weak smile on his face. Niall didn’t mean to make her feel bad or guilty, that was never the case, but he also wanted to be honest. And she knew he was coming from a good place, always.
“I’m a big girl, I’ll be fine,” she said, coming up to him and cupping his cheeks, making a move to plant a kiss on his lips, but pulling away a second before their lips met, not wanting to put lipstick on him, which made him whine and her let out a little laugh. “It’s just a few weeks. And then you’ll be home. And I’ll be here. And we’ll be moving while also preparing for the baby, so that will probably be a shitshow, but hey, at least we’re in this together.”
He smiled, kissing her cheek. Then the other. And then her neck, making her giggle. “‘Course we are. Always.”
October 2026
Putting finishing touches and getting ready to move houses while being seven months pregnant was not ideal. Thankfully they were both home now, after Lucy flew to Australia for the last shows of One Direction’s first tour back, they came back two weeks ago, after spending a few days longer, just relaxing, on the other side of the world.
All of this made Lucy stressed, her pregnancy made her uncomfortable most of the time and the impending arrival of the baby made her feel unprepared, no matter how many books and blog posts she had read. Because of that, it was no surprise to Niall that she wanted a quiet birthday. Lucy was never a fan of huge parties, especially the ones thrown in her honour. He proposed going away to their getaway house in Ireland, but she had insisted there were too many things to be done and overseen here, so he didn’t push, not wanting to make her even more stressed or upset. He did however make sure she hadn’t done anything unnecessary that day. Bringing her waffles and tea to bed in the morning, staying wrapped up in each other until midday, spending the next few hours cocooned on the couch, talking and watching tv, catching up on the lost time while they were apart.
However, when it was nearing the evening, he did ask her to get ready, saying he had something special planned.
“If you threw me a party, I’ll kill you,” she said while walking down the stairs, ready to go out. She knew it wasn’t dinner, because they had eaten not too long ago, Niall cooking her favourite of his while she admired him at work from the kitchen counter. He just chuckled, refusing to give her any hints.
But he did throw her a surprise party. Well, maybe not necessarily a party, more like a gathering. He got all of 1D with their better halves, their friends, her parents, Mia and Natalia, his own parents, even few of the people she’s been working closely with at the tennis management. The place wasn’t too crowded, filled with people she knew and appreciated. The music wasn’t too loud, you could easily have a conversation without screaming at each other. There was a bar, but not a proper dancefloor, just a little free space in case anyone wanted to bust a move, which eventually they did.
It was special, a perfect night to finish off the perfect day, the gesture making her cry more than once (which was fine, because at least she could blame it on the hormones). She trusted Niall completely and moments like those just proved how he truly knew her, giving her the perfect balance of what she wanted and what he knew she’d enjoy.
But now it was nearing 5am and she was lying awake, over half an hour since she woke up. She was uncomfortable. Huffing and throwing away the comforter because she was too hot, then growing cold mere minutes later. Not even her pregnancy pillow brought her any comfort tonight. She was just about to try getting up, when Niall stirred besides her, his eyes cracking open and his hand going to rub at her back as soon as he noticed she wasn’t asleep.
“Everything alright?” he asked, voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah, I couldn’t settle comfortably and now I’m wide awake,” she explained.
Niall hummed, looking at her in the darkness, her eyes tired, brows furrowed. He could see she was stressed or anxious, like she had been most of the time lately. It made him worried. He tried his best to take as much burden off her as he could, especially now he was home.
“I’ll go make some tea and then give you a message, hmm, how’s that sound?” he asked, bumping her nose cutely.
“I’ll go with you,” she said, throwing the comforter off her body already.
“No, you relax, you’ve been on your feet half the night, you should rest.”
“I need to stretch, I’m too uncomfortable now,” she reasoned, which made him give up easily, ready to help her up right away.
They went downstairs holding hands, because that’s just how they usually walked, him not really letting her do anything beside walking around the kitchen to stretch her limbs, before going back to bed, Niall refusing to even let her carry a cup.
“I know you’re tired because of the house and the pregnancy hasn’t exactly been easy on you, but there’s something else also troubling you, I can tell,” he said, as soon as they were settled into bed, Lucy propped against the headboard, while he sat cross legged in the middle, facing her.
When he woke up, she didn’t expect him to stay up with her. They went to sleep just a few hours before. Sure, he only had two beers last night, saying he was gonna keep her company in the sober club, even though she insisted she was fine with him having some drinks. So he wasn’t even buzzed anymore, but it was 5 am, he must have been tired. And yet, he was ready to stay up with her, have tea and an actual conversation, just because she couldn’t sleep. That was love, gestures like those only made her appreciate him more and more.
“It’s just a lot, I don’t know,” she shrugged, not really sure how to even explain her feelings. “I’m anxious about the baby, I wish we were done with the house already and… I just… I don’t know what to do with the training centre.”
“Well, the house is almost ready and I’m back now, I can handle most of it. Especially the packing, you’ll just sit and give me orders and I’ll get it all done, don’t you worry ‘bout a thing. It’s not good for you nor our little bub,” he marked his words with a gentle hand rubbing her swollen stomach. “And what’s up with the centre? You’ve been having quite a few meetings about it lately, yeah?”
“Yes and if I was going to pull out, I’d need to do it now.”
He sat up a bit straighter, looking at her confused. “Wait, why the hell would you pull out? I thought you were excited about it.”
“I was, yeah, but…” Lucy huffed, playing with a loose thread in the comforter. “Just how will it work? I was hoping to get it done at the end of this year or the start of the new at the latest, but with a kid.. I don't know, I can't do it all.”
“Hey, it’s alright,” he scooted closer, noticing she was starting to get upset and placing a calming hand on her knee. “You’re not alone in it, love. I’m here,” he assured with a small smile. “And I know I’ve been busy, touring and all, but I’m home now. I’m here for you, we’re in this together, yeah? You’re never alone with anything.”
“Maybe i should just postpone it. Wait a year or something.” She shrugged again, looking down, her eyes unfocused.
He licked his lips, thinking of the best response. “You can if you want to. But if not, we can make it work now.”
Lucy finally raised her head, meeting Niall’s eyes, the look he was giving her nothing but gentle. “I’m just scared that if i put it off now, it’ll never happen,” she admitted. “Because then it’ll probably be another kid, I really doubt we’re gonna be done with one, and just… it’ll fade away.”
“No, I won't let it, love,” he was quick to assure her, grabbing her hands in his and squeezing. “I know you want it. And if you want it now, we’ll make it happen. Or if you want to wait half a year, or less or more, you’ll do it then. But I’ll make sure it’ll happen for you.”
Lucy’s lip started wobbling and tears began streaming down her cheeks. Niall reached to wipe them right away, letting go of one of her hands, but still holding the other.
When she calmed down, he asked, “Tell me how do you see it anyway? I know you want to be involved in it, not just set it up, but do you want to just generally oversee it or train someone or… I don’t know.”
“Umm… I think oversee mostly,” she said. “Pop in to see how everything’s going. Talk to people, trainers, players… everyone. Conduct training from time to time, but not really regularly. Taking on a player would be too much for me.”
“Well, couldn’t you do it now?” he asked, giving her a look of confidence. He was always the one who brought her courage when her own ran out. “Like, even soon after our little bug is born, you’d be gone for a couple of hours tops, not everyday,” he explained. “I think it’d be alright. Might even be good for you.”
“What about the band? Aren’t you planning another album? Another tour?” She asked, not exactly sold on the idea. It was something she’s been turning over in her head, trying to come up with a perfect plan, but she wasn’t sure it existed.
He shook his head. “There’s gonna be a little version of us both super soon and you expect me to leave for months upon months? No chance.” She chuckles, hitting his arm lightly to make him be serious. “There are plans, yes, we for sure want to continue, but not right away. I mean, we’ll probably pop into the studio from time to time, but no schedule, we just want to relax right now. Put our families first. We’re having a baby. It’s technically a secret, but El’s pregnant as well. Harry is getting engaged…”
Lucy squeaked in excitement at all those news. “What? El’s having a baby? That’s amazing. And Harry! Finally! Did he get a ring?”
Niall grinned, finally seeing his wife happy and excited making him feel a bit lighter. “Yeah, showed us like a month ago, fingers crossed he’ll actually man up and pop the question.”
She giggled. “That’s crazy. Maya has told me that she and Liam had talked about trying for a little one as well. Ahh can you imagine our kids being so close in age?”
His face matched her grin. “They’d be best friends.”
 “Definitely.”
“But, to get back on topic, I’ll be staying put for the foreseeable future. Ready to take care of you and our bug and everything. So do your thing, don’t be scared, please. You know we’ll work it out.” He moved to his knees to get close enough to plant a gentle kiss on her lips.
 “Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me, love. I’m your husband, no thank yous needed.”
“Yeah, but I still want to thank you,” she marked her words with another kiss. “For being the best husband and the best teammate ever.”
“You don’t have a lot of experience with teammates though, right?” Niall pointed out with a chuckle. “With tennis being an individual sport and all…”
“Yeah yeah, alright, here’s my trying to be nice and you ruining it. Just like always.”
He laughed, wrapping his arms around her body and bringing her flush to him. “I love our little team of three.”
Lucy went in for yet another kiss, having to agree with him.

The Messy Route
Dom’s OH playthrough where we use Ethan to get the diagnostics job, are FWB with Bryce and trying to romance Raf. MC is Dr. Love Lao.
Tumblr media
Ch. 1
Book 1, Ch 2
OH SHIT ANNIE IS CODING AND LIL LOVE LAO AINT PREPARED FOR THIS
ALMIGHTY HEROES BLESS U FOR SENDING JACKIE TO HER IN HER TIME OF EXTREME NEED.
Tumblr media
SHIT
So much for the plan.
Sienna Trinh. Goddess of all things good in the world. We’re friends now. She doesn’t have a choice - Love nor Sienna. These girls are ride or die!!!
Asshat’s words get under Love’s skin and she is REELING. Being a doctor is all she’s ever wanted and on her first case she almost killed someone. Maybe everything she thought was wrong?? (Can you hear an identity crisis in the distance because I sure can)
Loves not a quitter. Never has been, never will be. Could the angry words of the one renowned attending she idolized change her?
Definitely not.
Girl just needs a mental break. Oh look there’s a supply closet!
Breathing in and out and trying to wrangle in the crushing feel of failure, she doesn’t get two minutes alone before the door swings open.
It’s the annoyingly attractive surgeon with the now-faltering smile and warm glow.
“Get in or get out Bryce. Just shut the door” ouchhhh she snapped at him and his smile completely disappeared
He joined her in the cramped space.
All signature cockiness left when he asked in his delicate and concerned honey-like cadence “what’s wrong”. She told him and he was a pretty good listener, all things considered.
Tumblr media
(She says that now but little does she know that is EXACTLY what she about to do the next two years 🎉)
Honestly it’s a shock that this dude has a heart and a pretty decent outlook on life. He’s oddly good at pep talks. Judging by his physique he wasn’t on cheer squad but dayummm
His hugs were soft and warm and peaceful as he pulled her against his toned chest. His arms strong and safe. Love could certainly do this again. Minus the whole closet breakdown thing.
She really wants to not like the guy. But
There’s just something about Bryce Lahela 🤔
And she wondered what his other talents include 😏
As he’s looking down at her with that sweet lopsided smile asking if this is all a ploy to get him alone she has a strong urge to stand on her toes and kiss his pretty lips.
But she pushes the urge aside with a chuckle. Time and place babes. This ain’t it. Also he’s a colleague. And they just met. And they’re in a supply closet. Not really a good first impression for all parties 👀
She gets a bit of flush on her pale cheeks when he departs with a wink. Leaving her alone to collect herself from her mini breakdown.
((I hc that with all Mrs Martinez’s free time and boredom she’s just doing squats in her room and has a very toned ass for an old person and just wants to show off. If she can’t lay naked in Cannes she’ll get the thrill of the breeze through her gown and the satisfaction of knowing she pulled someone out of their comfort zone for a minute or two))
Asking the nurses to page dr grumpmunch to meet her in Annie’s room was the most satisfying and gratifying feeling. Eat shit mothafuckerrr
He doesn’t have the common decency to come into the room? Or talk to the patient? Just lean against the doorframe like a limp ass tree ??? Absolutely ridiculous and callous behavior for a grown ass man.
She’s SO pleased with herself as she follows Ethan out of the room.
Which lasts about 2 seconds until asshat checks his watch and hands her a prescription.
Love FLIPS. She does not need his charity or opportunity and just wants her patients treated with the best care. Having Annie wait another hour was precious time wasted. Wtf was he thinking???
Ugh
Dr. Ramsey made a good point about growth and crap. But she’s too riled up to apologize or even listen. She just scowls and goes to walk away
BUT THEN she stops when Aurora finally turns up all pissy.
And Ethan’s kinda hot when his anger isn’t directed at her. Woah nelly, reign in the heart eyes he’s a total prick.
Though power is an aphrodisiac 👀
Tumblr media
(Why am I just now noticing he calls himself a badger???)
Tumblr media
(gosh she’s so pretty. And yet she’s going to let Mitch get away with treating her like garbage??? Oh pb and their inconsistencies 😔)
The surgeon looks good shirtless. His arms look amazing in his scrubs and the green really compliments his complexion. In his everyday clothes he looks... like and Ivy League douche. But those bracelets accompanying his watch are doing things to her.
Everything about Bryce Lahela is off putting and exciting.
So she joins him and his surgical buddies for a game of darts, wagering a kiss. They’re not at work no’mo might as well see if he lives up to all the talk 😏
He doesn’t play fair. His hot breath tickling the shell of her ear. Taunting that “medical interns can’t handle the heat”.
Oh she can handle the heat alright. But maybe there’s more value in losing this bet?
Tumblr media
Love’s counting on it
But she’s also not gotta let him off that easily. She does the same but lets her lips graze his ear. And, well...
That stupid victory dance was a reward in itself.
She licks her lips and grabs his outstretched hand.
For a second time that day she’s pressed up against him with his strong arms wrapped around her. He tastes like malt and mint and sugar... Did he snag some cookies somewhere??
And then his lips trail away from hers and down her jaw and up to her ear and she’s molded into him and holding onto his biceps tightly in a state of pure bliss at this point. It’s going to be a good year.
The surgeons call rounds for another game and Love taps out on that. She observed her friends all around the bar and found one pair of eyes swiftly averting from her.
So she makes her way over to him.
She eyed the empty glass in front of him and scoffed to herself. Scotch. It was her drink of choice in undergrad - she thought it would give her an enigmatic edge over her peers, instead of drinking beers like everyone and their older brother.
For the first time in the 15 hours she’s known asshat he shoots her a small smile of approval. Bingo.
She scoffs audibly this time when he thinks she’s bribing him. He’s not completely wrong but she won’t give him the satisfaction.
So she gives him a wry smile and says some garbage about a thank you for making her better.
He orders two specials and up this close she notices how devastatingly handsome Dr. Ramsey. Devastating because those looks are wasted on his garbage personality.
Of course the drink he orders is delicious and she refuses to admit it. Dr. Ramsey sees right through her bluff and Love kinda appreciates it. She’s learning she can’t trick him and that’s valuable insight to file away for later.

She’ll be blowing you, Ramsbo, darling.
(I’ve also never paid attention to Landry before... but now I’m starting to think he has a crush on MC and oh my god this route just got a lot more fun) ((but then again asking mc to teach ramsey his name is throwing me off))

(Y/N)'s POV
My choice was obvious.
Irene sent people to bring my car and all the things from my apartment, except for my papers about the case and my old phone since it was harder to hide in a car and it was dangerous to just leave those there.
I didn't say a word to her, I just went in and drove without a destination. Going back to the streets, my biggest fear in life was now my reality.
Everything vanished so quickly. Just a month ago I was helping a mother find her lost daughter and hugging her back when she was crying and thanking me for finding her. I felt so blessed for having a job that allowed me help people and I was thanking above for not being in hell anymore, just a few days ago I was in a planetarium with a man I barely knew talking about life and laughing and unexpectedly kissing him when he left me at my door, just two days ago I was feeling free and alive running in the rain and having sex with San enjoying myself but also admiring him while he was asleep and having all sort of unknown feelings when I was in his arms. Just a few hours ago I was laughing with a friend. But now there's nothing. Time felt so absurd.
I wanted to call San and confront him. He's the one who killed that man, this was all his fault but I lost the tiny paper with his phone on it. I drove for a few hours and then stopped a few blocks away from the bar since it was the only place I knew. I could only sobb. This is not real I kept repeating myself but looking at my surroundings and looking at my reflection in the driver's mirror, this was definitely real. My eyes were swollen and my head was hurting from crying so much I closed my eyes but did not sleep. I tried to clear up just how I felt but I cried to the point where there was not a single thought on my head.
I kept on working at the bar since the FBI cut the money they were giving me per week, the bar was the only thing that could help me to survive. But I looked like shit and nobody wanted to at least invite me drinks. I went to work every day hoping to see San I wanted to yell at him so bad but I didn't see him, two weeks passed and he was nowhere to be seen, I would constantly see Wooyoung and I wanted to approach him and ask him why San wasn't around but every time I tried to my legs would stop working and I'd walk away from him. Weeks passed and nothing I even started to worry what if something happened to him, what if he was just playing around and he just wanted sex those words were running in circles in my head I didn't even wanted to yell at him anymore I just wanted to see him again.
I wished I had spent more time with him and also wished I could remember the way to his home. I really needed to know where or how he was.
The only good thing about that bar was that I made a new friend, I grew closer with Lucy, she displayed a totally different image while working, the real Lucy was a bubbly and cheerful girl. Everyday she'd ask me if everything was okay in her words, you look like a puzzle that's missing a piece and I always lied with the same words what are you talking about I'm fine.
Since we couldn't meet each other at my ex apartment anymore Irene occasionally left different codes with secret messages on sticky notes on my car that at first glance looked like traffic tickets and it was always the same thing.
"Have you heard of him?"
"You're screwing up"
"If you don't get him soon we can sue you for breach of contract"
"Stop fooling around"
It was definitely way better than seeing her and yell at each other until getting tired.
A whole month passed, at the bar I was used to at least seeing Wooyoung around but recently not even him was showing up.
What if this what if that.
I just need to see him.
(San's POV)
The smell of smoke filled the house, the place was under attack and we needed to get out of here. There was only one man dumb enough to mess with me. That son of a bitch.
I ran through the long corridors of Hongjoong's house. The others following me closely as I lead the way I knew this place wasn't safe but he never hears what I say. I heard the others running behind me and Hongjoong clearing the back part as I cleared the front part. We couldn't use the front door since it was burning and falling apart, we needed a plan asap.
"Let's just use the window" Said Jongho.
I stopped to think about it for a moment, it's risky but we don't really have more options. Jumping to the balcony of the second floor and then to the trees is our only way out. I explained to them my plan and they agreed.
"I'll go first" I said as I made my way to the window. This was a huge risk one wrong move and it was over. Before jumping my princess and my loyal members crossed my mind.
I crouched into the window sill. Please let the others be safe. I jumped and I successfully made it to the second floor's balcony. I looked over at the tree that was about 3 feet away from the balcony, this was the serious part. But we didn't have much time and without hesitation I jumped, I managed to grab onto a branch. I climbed down and then jumped to the ground. I got only a few scratches on my face and my arms but nothing serious or painful.
While helping Yeosang who was the last I heard footsteps approaching us. We got on guard but the noise ceased. Yunho was the first one to lower his gun "Let's just go get the…" I heard gunshots and then Yunho fell on my arms, his face filled with pain and his back covered in blood.
"Lucca says hi" A man hiding in the bushes yelled.
"Go get that bitch but don't kill him I want to do it myself" I said as Jongho, Wooyoung and Mingi followed my instructions.
My attention was back to Yunho, the blood he was losing worried me we could lose him any second if we don't treat him on time, Seonghwa helped me to get him inside the car. We could've died as soon as we passed in front of Hongjoong's house but to our surprise there wasn't anyone there shooting or throwing Molotov cocktails anymore. The way home felt like a roller-coaster I'd see Yunho through the rear-view mirror every two minutes, Hongjoong kept talking to him to keep him awake and Yunho tried to answer all of it with his head thrown back in pain, my heart was beating faster and faster. I can't lose him, none of them I just can't.
I stopped the car in front of our house and Yeosang and Seonghwa got him carefully to the infirmary to treat his wounds. I felt useless, I'm their leader, I should protect all of them but this is not even the first time one of us gets hurt. I impatiently waited outside the infirmary for a few hours to get news from Yunho, why is this taking them so long?.
"I know that face" Hongjoong who was sitting in front of me said with his hands buried on his pockets "You're blaming yourself but this is not your fault, you always tell me to move in here but I never listen, blame me instead"
I didn't say anything this wasn't because Hongjoong's place was an easy target this was because I was unable to protect Yunho. The front door opened and I felt the weight on my shoulders vanishing a little they came back in one piece.
"You're gonna get mad" Said Wooyoung. "We got the guy but he's injured losing a lot of blood he could die any second, we already moved him to the basement so you better hurry"
"Did you ask him some questions?" Hongjoong interfered and Wooyoung tilted his head and squinted his eyes as I left them to hurry to the basement.
"We tried but that motherfucker didn't want to cooperate" I heard Mingi reply.
I went down the basement, Jongho was there too. That man didn't even need to be tied up, he was all fucked up and could barely move, I dragged a chair and sat in front of him.
"So you're one of Lucca's little toys?" I said but that bastard didn't even look at me, Jongho pulled his head up by his hair. "I'm talking, if you don't wanna die in a merciless way you better pay attention–"
"Lucca… he's closer… than you think he is and–" Heavily breathing he coughed leaving blood on his lips, I observed how he was slowly dying. "He's also stronger than you… think he is, his goal is displaying your head… in his leaving room… That's all I know man" He crawled, trying to get closer to me "But please don't kill me I—"
I laughed, this bitch is funny as fuck "Don't kill me? You hurted one of my members, you can thank Lucca for this" I pulled out my gun and I shot him right between his eyebrows, he didn't hesitate to shoot Yunho why should I show some kind of mercy?
"You know what to do with the body" I glanced at Jongho and I threw him my zippo before closing the door of the basement.
While walking through the hall I spotted Seonghwa sitting on the floor removing his gloves covered in blood. He looked exhausted.
"Before you say anything, he's fine we just have to wait for him to wake up" He says while looking up to meet my eyes. "I know you're the leader, but you're also young, you don't have to beat up yourself for this we've been through worse we're all gonna be fine"
"Yes as you said I'm the leader and…" I felt embarrassed and I slid my back on the wall till I reached the floor sitting next to him.
He shakes his head "We knew what we were getting ourselves into when we joined you, and none of us regret doing it, so please stop worrying" He suddenly pauses and looks at me scanning me whole. "I'm the one worried about you, have you been sleeping well? You look like shit"
"I'm doing alright" I say.
"No you're not and I think I know what's your problem"
"Well Doctor Park tell me what's my problem" I rest my head on the wall crossed armed paying attention to what he has to say.
"It's that girl"
"I'm not gonna have this conversation with you" I try to get up but he holds my arm.
"You looked like a totally different person when you were seeing her, you had a special sparkle in your eyes I never saw that look in your face not even when you were with—"
"Don't fucking finish that" I push his hand away from my arm.
"Okay whatever I'm sorry I won't bring it up again, but you know I'm right" He says with determination "But why did you stop seeing her?"
"She rightfully got mad at me" Looking away I say. "I gave her my number but she never called"
"And why didn't you call her?" He scoffs
"She didn't call me for a reason and I respect that I can't force her to love me back" Seonghwa looks at me with his eyes wide open and his mouth forming an O.
"So you love her" I realize way too late what I just said. Fuck. "I knew it" He grabs me by the shoulders and shakes me.
"Well it's… The thing is… I don't know what I feel for her" I say quietly.
"You just said that you love her"
"I know what the fuck I just said it's just…" I try to find the right words but that's the thing about her, she leaves me speechless and breathless and I can't explain what my feelings are towards her. "It's complicated"
"One thing I know for sure is that she feels the same for you" I look at him ironically, I don't think that's the case but I keep listening "Don't look at me like that, I just know, when Wooyoung introduced her to me and I mentioned how nervous you were when you invited her dinner you should've seen her eyes and how they lightened up when I brought you up in our little convo, none a single person on earth can fake that"
"I've thought about it and it's better this way, my life is a big dangerous mess, I have people who's loyal to me in every corner of this city but I also have enemies in every corner, I don't want to bring her into my life and put her in danger just because I'm happy with her that'd be selfish, if something happened to her because of me…" I'm explaining but he interrupts me.
"Yeah but you don't get to decide that, it's her decision, I know she doesn't know everything about you but that one time when you first met her, you shot a man in front of her and according to what you said she didn't look remotely scared of you she even yelled at you she even agreed to go out with you" He sounds so enthusiastic about this but he suddenly pauses "You should go and see her"
"Right now?" I chuckle "I'm waiting for Yunho to wake up besides it's late she's probably working right now"
"Yunho is resting the more he sleeps the better" He rushes me to get up.
"What if she hates me"
"You respect her decision and come back here but you won't know if you don't try to see her" He's already pushing me to keep walking till we get to the door and even throws me my coat. "And yes I don't think he will but If Yunho wakes up earlier I'll call you right away"
"This is a bad idea" I try to get off this situation
"Just shut the fuck and go" He says while opening the door and pushes me out and before I get to say anything he slams the door.
Shit.
(Y/N POV)
I stared at my fake boss with pure anger disguised with a neutral expression, I truly want to punch him in the nose he's been yelling at me for an hour because I'm the only girl bringing the less money and I could understand that but he had the nerve to stare at my boobs the whole time I sat there in front of him in his office.
"I don't get rid of you just because even if you haven't brought that much money these last weeks you're the one who brought more money in one night this month" He finally looks me in the eyes.
He's talking about the night I met San when he paid for me to supposedly have sex with Wooyoung but it was actually just to get me out of here, after all the shit I went through that night he just wanted me to go home and that was a gesture I'll never forget.
"Are you paying attention?" He snaps his fingers in front of me and I nod "Besides tomorrow we have a special event and I need every single girl for a little something so please don't be late"
"Is that everything?" I ask as I get up from my seat, he just nods at me then makes a gesture with his hand.
While closing the door of the office I run into Lucy. "You're still here? it's almost 4am you always leave early" She tells me.
"I was about to leave when our boss called me to tell me about a special event" I explain while we both walk to the dressing rooms.
"Oh, yeah it's tomorrow it's not as special as it sounds it's just his brother's birthday, he's a creep a total pig and girl I see pigs every night but this man" She gags pretending to throw up "I would rather if you just stay at home"
"I can't he even told me to not be late" Lucy changes her dress for a clean one she usually stays for longer than I do, in the meantime I put on the hoodie that San lent me the last time I saw him on top of my dress and get ready to leave.
"Well I hope you get sick or something, I think you're too pure to meet that man" she says and I let out a loud laugh.
"Is he that bad?" She nods and the disgust on her face says everything.
"But enough of that even talking about him grosses me" She looks down at the hour on her phone "You should go now and get some sleep"
"I was going to wait a little the rain sounds heavy" I say and she just rolls her eyes and puts up my hoodie covering my head.
"That's even better if you get wet you might get sick"
I don't say anything, I just wave at her goodbye and leave to the parking lot. The rain catches me off guard, it's definitely more intense than I thought it was going to be. I run to the front part of the bar and on the corner of my eye I spot a familiar silhouette, but I keep walking, it's probably just my imagination at this point.
But what if…
I turn around and I see San he's walking to and fro like he is debating if he should get inside the bar or not. I freeze on my spot when our eyes meet each other, he's completely soaked for how long has he been waiting here in the rain?.
For the last month all I wanted was to have him in front of me so I could yell at him but now… I don't know a thing. I freeze even more when he starts walking toward me and my legs involuntarily do the same till we're face to face. He looks tired and his eyes look red and getting a little swollen… like he has been… crying. I suddenly get this overwhelming feeling and this enormous urge, I approach slowly to hug him tightly. My action takes him by surprise but fastly he wraps me with his arms as well resting his chin on my shoulder. I softly run my fingers through his hair as we get closer and closer.
I missed this…
"Why did you disappear?" I say in a whisper. I let go of our hold to make eye contact.
"I thought you didn't want to see me again" I shake my head slowly "You had all the right to get mad at me and… I'm sorry"
"I wanted to call you the next day you left me at my home but I lost your phone number" Then I finally remember why I wanted to see him "Actually something happened and we need to talk" He holds my hand and we walk to his car.
All this time all I wanted was to ask if he's the one who killed that man but after seeing his sincere eyes something deep inside of me tells me it wasn't him. But I still want to hear it from his lips.
"The last time I saw you… did you…" I struggle to get my words right.
"What is it princess?" He holds my hand with both of his leaving a tender kiss.
"The man you hit that day he's, he's dead" He closes his eyes and lets out a sigh.
"I know I gained certain fame with my actions towards men that have hurt you but this time I promise you princess it wasn't me" That's all I wanted to hear "That day as I was hitting him you told me to stop and so I did and after that you told me to leave and so I did. If you had asked me to kill him I would've done it but you didn't so I forgot about him" Then who the fuck killed that man?
"I'm sorry for thinking it was you" He caresses my cheek and gets closer to me.
"It's okay princess" He says in a lower tone, we're so close and I feel my heart racing so fast God I missed that feeling. I meet his eyes, that gaze… Fuck, then stare at his lips, I end the distance between us with a lingering kiss.
But he stops it "There's something I need to tell you too" He rests his forehead on my mine "I like you princess, so much you have no idea but…" He looks troubled and hesitating.
"You can tell me anything"
"If we keep going forward you deserve to know the truth" He holds my hands again "I'm a Mafia leader and I'm not gonna lie to you, it's dangerous being around me and I'll understand if you don't want to see me anymore"
San's words hit me like a truck, I got it, I did it, I gained his trust and got him to confess. But why do I feel like this doesn't matter anymore? Why do I feel even guilty about it?
"I don't know what to say to that"
"You just have to tell me if that scares you if it does I'll disappear from your life" I shook my head, it didn't scare me not even an ounce I've been around danger all my life "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure" I say while cupping his face with my hands and he rests on one and kisses my hand again.
The rain stops and I get an idea "Can I take you somewhere?" I say suddenly and he finally smiles.
I think that's what I missed the most, that beautiful dimpled smile.
"You want to drive?" I nod and we switch seats. "And where are you taking me?"
"You're gonna have to trust me"

MORE CUTE SCENES OF FLORENCE AND THE FAM PLS 🥺🥺
Everyone loves a lil protective Daniel around his girls x
Clementine
Valentines Day always came around once a year to rub it in parents’ faces that they weren’t as sappy and crazy love-drunk as they once were; too caught up by real-life problems to bother even making time to participate in society’s made up holiday. But even if they agreed on skipping it year after year, Daniel always brought home a bouquet of red roses for his wife and three long stemmed roses for his daughters, one each. His four Valentines.
Daniel struggled to open the apartment door as he held his bag over his arm and the fifteen flowers in his other hand, eventually nearly falling inside at 4:30pm. There were excited screams from the living room as his daughters came running to greet him like almost every day after work and he closed the door behind him and bent down to kiss them each.
Daniel set his bag down to give him room to bend down in front of the three girls and took the first single rose from the bunch and offered it to Clementine.
The seven-year-old grinned, taking it from him and gave him a kiss, “Thank you, Daddy.”
Penelope was next, carefully taking her single rose from him with blushing cheeks and she broke into a dimpled grin, copying her older sister as they smelt the fresh cut flowers.
Lucy was third, the eighteen-month-old reaching eagerly to the rose he held out to her. Daniel was thankful he had the florist cut off the thorns as the girls held the stems tightly with their excitement.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, my little ladies.” Daniel smiled, pulling them all into a hug and pressed kisses over their heads.
Florence appeared in the hallway, her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail as she had been making dinner, and she smiled at the sweet scene in the foyer.
“Daddy bought us flowers!” Penelope grinned up at her mother, her arm still snug around Daniel’s shoulders.
“I see that! How lucky of you.” Florence chuckled. “Let’s get washed up for dinner, alright?”
The oldest two girls went running off to the bathroom to wash their hands, the youngest toddling after them with her rose waving around in her hands. Daniel stood up from the ground and swooped right in to kiss his wife, sliding an arm around her waist as he held the bouquet of roses between them.
“Couldn’t forget my forever Valentine.” he whispered as her arms draped around his shoulders.
Florence grinned, pressing a lingering kiss to his lips, and they shared soft ‘I love you’s before making their way into the living room. Florence unwrapped the flowers and tucked them in a vase with water on the kitchen counter before finishing up tending to the dinner.
The girls came back out and he got them settled at the dining room table as Penelope talked about her class party they had in her kindergarten class that day and all the crafts they made. Florence brought over the plates as Daniel buckled Lucy in her highchair and they all sat down to eat.
“I had a party too!” Clementine added when her sister was finished. “My boyfriend made me a special Valentine’s card.”
Daniel choked on his water, nearly spitting it back in the glass at his shock, “Boyfriend?”
“Yeah, Daddy! His name is Christopher and he asked me to be his girlfriend at recess yesterday!” Clementine grinned as if it was the best news ever.
Florence kept her smile to herself behind a bite of her dinner, watching Daniel’s nearly grief-stricken face and saucer wide eyes.
Daniel tried to speak as calmly as he could, “Clemmy girl…sweetheart…angel, you’re only seven, you shouldn’t have a boyfriend.”
“It’s okay, Daddy. He’s really nice. He made me a card today and we might hold hands tomorrow.”
“Oh my gosh.” Daniel shut his eyes tightly for a second. “No. Do not let him touch you, okay? Boys are yucky. The only boy who you are allowed to love is me.”
“What about Uncle Callum?”
“Sometimes.”
“And Uncle Christian and Uncle Tyler?”
“Sometimes.”
“And Jack?”
“Sometimes.”
“And Christopher?”
“Some-No.” Daniel glared at his daughter’s cheeky grin. “No boyfriends, okay? Not until you’re a grown up.”
“Buy why?! Mommy!” Clementine turned to Florence with pleading eyes.
Florence looked between her daughter and her husband, both of them staring at her expectantly.
“I’m not getting involved in your conversation.” Florence mumbled lightly.
“Flora.” Daniel gaped. “Are you hearing this?”
“Go get your card, baby.” Florence said sweetly to her eldest who proudly ran off to her backpack.
“You’re my boyfriend, Daddy.” Penelope whispered, smiling her dimpled grin in his direction.
“God bless your heart, bug. I love you.” Daniel whispered, petting her hair and squishing her cheek a little.
Clementine came rushing back over with her homemade Valentines card in hand, glitter sprinkling onto the table as she thrust it into her mother’s hands. She stood eagerly between her parents at the corner of the table, hands curling around the wood as she watched her mother read the card, a small smile on her face.
“It’s very sweet, Clemmy.” Florence said, holding it out to Daniel, mouthing a ‘be nice’ as he grabbed it from her. He set his fork down and stared at the glitter heart on the front and the messy stickers all around it before opening it up. It was obviously done by a first grader but Daniel frowned, handing it back to his eldest without a word.
“Isn’t it nice, Daddy?” Clementine asked, grabbing his arm with one hand.
Daniel clenched his jaw a moment, staring down at the seven-year-old giving him those puppy eyes she had perfected since she was a baby and he melted, “Yes, angel. It’s very nice.”
Clementine grinned at him and rushed back off to tuck it safely in her backpack.
Daniel mumbled, “He didn’t even spell her name right.”
Florence smacked his arm through a soft laugh, “She’s in grade one, even she can barely spell her own name right.”
Penelope
Daniel parked the car on one of the side streets outside the movie theatre downtown, waiting to pick up Penelope from her night out with her friends. She was just barely 15 and still too hesitant about taking the subway alone at night but her slightly overcautious parents were more than fine to pick her up and drop her off wherever she needed to be instead. Florence had dropped her off just before dinner time and she was gone all evening, texting Daniel that she was ready to be picked up around 9. He found himself waiting there in his car until 9:15 when he finally saw Penelope rounding the corner a bit of a ways away. He kept an eye on her to make sure she was safe on her small walk from the building to his car in the dark city but he frowned when she stopped in place and turned to a boy standing behind her.
The way they were talking made it appear that they knew each other but Daniel kept a hand on the door handle just in case. He watched with narrowed eyes as the guy pulled Penelope into a hug and she curled into him for a moment before he was taking her face in his hands and kissing her. Daniel sat frozen in shock, staring wide-eyed as the teenagers said their goodbyes. Penelope was the daughter who seemed to steer clear of boys the longest and suddenly Daniel was slapped in the face by this change in his shiest girl. He tried to straighten himself up and took a few breaths the best he could as Penelope rushed over to the car.
“Hey, Daddy.” she whispered as she climbed into the passenger side, her voice shaking a little.
“Hi, bug.” Daniel breathed, his hesitation mirroring hers.
They fell into silence for a moment, both staring in opposite directions. Penelope twisted the material of her sweater on her lap anxiously, biting hard on her bottom lip as she stared out the window, Daniel clutching hard onto the steering wheel with the car still in park and his eyes focussed straight ahead, still in shock.
“Dad.” Penelope finally broke their silence and looked over at him.
Daniel met her eyes, the blue shimmering with tears, and he set a hand on her cheek, “Oh, sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t know!” she cried suddenly, hiding her face in her sweater to try and muffle her sobs.
“It’s okay.” Daniel wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her as close as possible over the centre console of the car. He pressed a kiss to her head.
“H-he kissed me and...and I wasn’t ready for it and I don’t...I don’t know how I feel about it! I’m scared!”
“Oh my gosh, bug. No need to be scared.” Daniel said softly. “It’s nothing to be scared about, your first kiss is always going to be awkward and awful and uncomfortable but now you got it out of the way. However, he should have asked your permission first.”
“Are you mad at me?” Penelope sniffled.
“Oh, Penny girl, no. Why would I be mad at you?” Daniel sat back a little to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
“Because I just got k-kissed by a boy.” Penelope sobbed, curling into his chest.
“I’m not mad, bug. I promise.” Daniel chuckled, petting her hair softly. “I’m a little surprised that it happened so quick but you’re 15 so boys were bound to come into the picture soon.”
“No one has ever liked me before.” Penelope sniffled.
“That, or you’ve just never noticed. Maybe you’re just like me.” Daniel sighed, resting his head on hers. “You’re just my late-bloomer, nothing wrong with that. Stay young as long as you can, okay?”
Penelope nodded and sat up straight in her seat, wiping her eyes with the heels of her palms and took a shaking breath.
“Would an ice cream stop on the way home help you feel better?” Daniel asked.
“Yes please.” Penelope nodded through her pout.
The ice cream was also sort of for Daniel too as he focussed his heavy heart into his pint of vanilla, watching his second daughter eat quietly across from him with her eyes red from crying and mouth coated in chocolate. She still was the same four year old she once was in his eyes and he wished he could keep her that young forever.
Lucy
Florence knew the moment Lucy brought a boy into her car after school that it wasn’t going to end well. The youngest daughter was only nine and a half, eager to bring home a friend from school; a friend who happened to be a boy. Florence had absolutely no problem with her nine-year-old having male friends, she actually encouraged it, but she knew her husband would have a different opinion, always a tad too protective of his daughters.
Lucy and her friend Marcus sat and chatted excitedly in the backseat, talking youthfully about their classes that day and other things, thirteen-year-old Penelope in the passenger seat. Florence kept glancing through the rear-view mirror at the two fourth graders as she drove towards the apartment building by the waterfront.
“Daddy’s gonna have a fit.” Penelope whispered to her mother.
“I know.” Florence mumbled, trying to bite back a smile. Penelope giggled quietly to herself and leaned against the window.
Of course, it was that day that Daniel had the afternoon off, meaning he was already home when they arrived, busying himself around the apartment as Clementine was sat at the dining room table doing her homework. His double take was unmatched as the fourth person coming into his living room was not a member of his family. Florence kissed him hello, whispering a gentle, ‘He’s a friend’ to her surprised husband. Daniel let her kiss him once more although his eyes were focussed past her and on his youngest daughter and her friend.
The young boy walked right up to Daniel and held out his hand, “Hi Mr. Seavey. I’m Marcus.”
Daniel could barely form words, taking the nine-year-old’s handshake with a wavering, “Nice to meet you, Marcus.”
“Daddy,” Lucy grabbed onto the side of his shirt and smiled up at him, “Can Marcus and I go play in my room?”
“No.” Daniel said quickly, composing himself with a, “You can play in the living room here, okay?”
“You can play in your room, Lucy Lu.” Florence spoke up. “I’ll call you two when the pizzas get here.”
“Thank you!” Lucy grinned and the two friends rushed down the hallway together.
“Someone needs to relax.” Clementine chuckled under her breath without looking up from her textbook.
“Who is that?” Daniel turned to them quickly.
“He’s her friend, Daddy, chill.” Penelope laughed, sitting herself at the table with her sister and pulled out her notebooks.
“We all know what starts as friends.” Daniel whispered sharply to Florence over the kitchen counter as she put away Lucy’s empty containers from her lunch bag.
“Oh my gosh, baby, she’s nine.” Florence chuckled. “You’re overthinking.”
Daniel leaned closer to her to keep his voice down so the other two girls wouldn’t hear, “I’ve seen the YouTube docs of girls being pregnant at ten. That’s only six months away, Flora! She could-“
“Daniel! Jesus!” Florence held her hands over her ears. “Stop that! You’re going crazy! She can’t even get pregnant yet, chill out.”
“She’s my baby, Flora.” Daniel pouted.
“Our baby, I know. But stop overthinking and just let her be a kid still.” Florence tisked, holding out her phone to him. “Now go make yourself useful and order dinner.”
Daniel kept himself quiet and collected during dinner, trying not to eye the boy beside his youngest too much from across the table. He couldn’t deny that the boy had some of the best manners Daniel had ever seen on a child – other than his own – and it made his paternal distaste hard to stick.
However, his calm only lasted so long, as the girls moved to the living room to watch a movie and Florence and Daniel stayed in the kitchen to tidy up dinner, and barely five minutes into the film, Marcus slid his hand into Lucy’s and they tucked their fingers around each other. Daniel never moved faster in his life, rushing into the living room and wiggling himself between the two nine-year-olds, pushing them apart.
“Okay! What are we watching!” Daniel asked loudly, slinging his arm over Lucy’s shoulders as she glared at him with annoyance. Penelope and Clementine shook their heads with disbelief at their father’s overprotective tendencies, and Florence could only roll her eyes from the kitchen.
