take in a deep breath.
now breathe out.
feel the fucking nonsense float away.
take full, deep breaths.
breathe in stength...
breathe out bullshit.
allow your breathing to find its own natural, unhurried pace.
with each breath, feel your body saying:
fuck that
(full Fuck That meditation here)

Ay yo guess who’s been enjoying the spooky fish game 👀 if y’all haven’t seen Dredge I would absolutely recommend it it’s so cool!!! It’s like a Lovecraftian horror fishing game and I am obsessed with the aesthetics and gameplay loop and artwork. Just *chef’s kiss* BEAUTIFUL
So obviously I had to do a lil crossover with the blorbos bc \_:)_/ please excuse how messy and bad this is I actually only drew it as a cover for the ones below, which are based on the game’s ending 👀 I didn’t wanna spoil it lmao
Speaking of which, more drawings and spoilers for Dredge under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are also bad bc I decided to try a new program on my phone to make them. Please forgive me hdkfhsjhdjd anyway this game makes me CRAZY it’s so fucking good. Please go play the spooky fish game

i have been struggling with my anxiety more than usual, and there are days where i just wake up anxious. . . do you have any tips on how to help with that? i’d really appreciate it! 🫶🏻✨
Hi angel, I have dealt with and sometimes still deal with a lot of anxiety, so I am going to give you tips and advice that I have learned and work for me. Please remember I am not a mental health professional.
Waking up with anxiety is typically associated with high cortisol levels (stress hormone) which could be do to life stress, bad sleep, substance issues, physical issues or other mental health disorders, to name a few.
You can start incorporating new habits to help reduce your anxiety.
Exercising regularly: Exercise helps alleviate a high anxiety level, by diverting your attention from what’s making you anxious, Activating executive functions in the brain, Decreasing muscle tension, Altering brain chemistry, Regular exercise builds up resources in the body that help increase resilience to erratic emotions. Exercise actually changes your brain chemistry by increasing the availability of neuro chemicals that work against anxiety.
Meditation and breathing exercises: There are different ways to do meditation, and they can help with feeling anxious. Even if you just spend five minutes each day meditating or doing deep breaths, it can make you feel better. Try meditating every morning prior to tackling your day.
Change your diet: The things we eat and drink can affect how we feel and how well our bodies work. Our bodies make chemicals that affect our mood and how we function, and these chemicals are influenced by the food we eat. Some foods can help reduce anxiety are: Brazil nuts, Eggs, Pumpkin seeds, Chamomile (a kind of tea), Yogurt, Turmeric (a spice), Dark chocolate, Fatty fish like mackerel and salmon.
Less TV & phone time before bed: Spending too much time on screens, like phones and TVs, can make your anxiety worse. You should stay away from electronics for 1-2 hours prior to going to sleep. Electronics stimulate the part of your brain that suppresses the production of melatonin, making it difficult to turn off your brain. Additionally, put your phone on DND.
Avoid alcohol and other drugs: Alcohol and caffeine can worsen mood or anxiety. Focus instead on drinking plenty of water. Limit caffeine intake in the afternoon and evening, and consume alcohol in moderation.
Try journaling: If you feel really busy with thoughts when you wake up in the morning, try this before you sleep: write in a notebook for a few minutes. It can help your brain feel calmer and you might sleep better. This might make you feel less anxious when you wake up.
Have a morning routine: If you feel anxious in the morning because things seem messy or you're worried, try making a plan for your mornings. This can help you feel more in charge. You can also make a list of things when you're worried about them. Sometimes, being afraid you'll forget something important makes anxiety worse. But when it's written down your mind can feel better.
Get enough sleep: The worry of feeling anxious in the morning and upcoming stressful decisions might stop you from sleeping or cause them to have trouble sleeping. Sleeping better and getting enough sleep can really help how you feel and your mental health. Make sure you are getting 7-9 hours of sleep.
Have a bed time routine: Having a bedtime routine can make you less anxious because it gives you a plan and things to expect before you sleep. Your bed time routine should include self care activities, this will sooth you and help you feel more confident too. When you do the same things in order every night, your mind and body feel calmer because they know what's coming.
Hope this helps <3

Here are the lists for Sirentober / Doctober 2023! I don’t know if I ever posted the lists for 2022 on my Tumblr from last year, but here they are as well!
I’ve been making two art prompt lists every year since October 2020, and it’s just a fun little thing. They can be done literally any time, you can combine any prompt from any year with whatever other prompt you want, you can do as much or as little as you want! I made them now to give y’all time to plan if you’d like (and also I got excited haha)
If you do end up doing some, it would be awesome if you’d tag #sirentober / #doctober because I love to see what you guys make! I won’t be starting until October (last year, I waited until November to do the lists since I was busy in October) but I plan to do it everyday as an art exercise
Can’t wait to see what y’all make if you choose to participate!
Also yes, a few prompts are repeats, but those are on purpose (bdubs cat is a tradition 💥)

take a deep breath...
...before you scroll further.
check in with yourself. are you holding on to some stressful thoughts? can you put a pin in them and manage them later?
take another deep breath. let your shoulders relax. let the tension in your jaws dissolve. let your face settle into comfortable features.
take a deep breath again. come back to this exercise every now and then. you're too precious to be stressed so much ✨

INSTRUCTIONS
Follow along and relax for the first 10 minutes.
After that, you will be instructed to IMAGINE exercising.
You will be guided through each exercise and this will trick your body/mind into thinking you have actually exercised--and your body will improve.
If you want to listen to this in your sleep, it's best to listen while awake a few times until you have become accustomed to using your imagination to exercise.
After you do this, the effect will work much better, even when you sleep.

since i started talking about calisthenics and the kind of exercise i do as a spoonie with a lot of chronic pain and bone/joint problems ive gotten a couple questions so i thought it might be helpful to make a post kind of outlining some basics that really helped me get started but that i think often get really overlooked when ppl first start thinking of "working out" and the preconceived notions of what abled society tells us that looks like
so for me its all about engaging ur muscles. this is huge because a lot of us, myself included, arent actually very used to actively engaging our muscles during rest. and what i mean by engaging is literally just having the muscle be active without being clenched up. the more u use a muscle, the more active it learns to be, even when sitting, lying down, or resting. it learns to stay engaged and stay doing its job which is holding ur bones together and ur body in the correct position. but if u arent engaging ur muscles consistently, they get used to being overly relaxed and lose strength and form and then struggle when u want to go and use them. this is often combined with poor posture and a huge problem for those of us whose bones and joints dont like to stay where they are and need extra support, as overly relaxed muscles have a more difficult time maintaining proper form and shape. this also makes everything from traditional exercise to just moving around doing daily tasks much more difficult and dangerous, as its way easier for bad form and posture to cause us injury or pain
but engaging ur muscles is actually a very easy and simple thing, it requires no equipment or special moves and can be done sitting, lying down, or standing up. u can do ur whole body all at once or break it up into different parts throughout the day. there's also variations to make it easier in places as u progress
easiest first step i found to get urself used to this is something called progressive muscle relaxation. which is literally just starting at the top of ur body and tensing and then relaxing each muscle group for a few seconds as u work ur way down. it's usually paired with meditation but u dont have to. i usually do it to music cause i find guided meditations boring. a lot of people like to do it either in the morning or right before bed, as it can often help relieve tension and stress and make it easier to fall asleep. there are basic guides like this one
Tumblr media
when ur first starting if u want a little extra help identifying what and where ur muscles are so u know ur tensing the right ones in the right ways. once uve done those enough that things are easy, u can break it down even further and isolate more specific muscles and add those in as well. charts like these
Tumblr media Tumblr media
where u look up specific muscle groups (in thise case shoulder/upper body muscle groups) can help u visualize exactly where ur muscles are, what directions they go in and what they're connected to, which can help u in understanding how to move and control them
understanding the muscles in ur body and having good control over each area can help so much more than u think when it comes to everyday things. slow, deliberate movement is really the key to that and once u get used to each muscle group and have identified which ones u want to work on, u can isolate those groups and start doing basic calisthenics.
a great resource for that is a channel like hybrid calisthenics which i really like for learning new exercises with lots of options for variations and low impact. his exercises almost always require no equipment, very little impact, and focus on control and stability which are much more beneficial and friendly for spoonies, chronically ill, and disabled people
but even if u dont want to or cant progress farther, simply engaging those muscles for a few minutes a days every day on its own will still help a lot and can make a big difference for some people

JUFAB out of context: Fruitdays
Riya: so since the library doors are blocked on Saturdays, how do you librarians get into your library? Or do they live in the library?
Mestionora: Don't be ridiculous, having ones workplace and place of rest within the same premise leads to working even during times that are supposed to be for rest which is bad for mortal souls, My librarian would never stop working if their living arrangements were since the library, they love their work too much.
Riya: Oh, so do they get the day off?
Mestionora: Some do take this as an opportunity to force themselves to stop working for one day yes.
Riya: And... What about the others?
Mestionora: they break into the library
Riya: What.
Mestionora: Through the windows, as one of my Librarians so aptly put it, what is a window but a smaller door? A smaller, slightly more challenging entrance into a magical place?
Riya: But... The windows are so high up?!
Mestionora: They use the catapult
Riya: The what?!
*Music that sounds suspiciously like the angry birds theme song plays in the distance, screaming and then glass breaking*
Riya:
Mestionora: *sighs* I need to let Vulcanift know we need to replace that window again...

Went for a walk today -
I’ve had a lot going on in my life lately, my dad and grandma are both unwell, and on top of it my own health has not been great. I’ve been worrying a lot about the future and I’ve also had a bit of a wake-up call that I REALLY need to start taking care of my health more.
I’m prone to working myself into a worse state when I’m anxious because any form of self-care starts to make me feel guilty - I should be being productive, or keeping an eye on things, or spending that time fixating and worrying about the future cause THAT’LL help.
It might seem like a small thing but I went to a park today and had a nice walk. I put my phone on airplane mode, set my music to shuffle and just had an hour to myself. I tried to let thoughts come and just let them be, and not pressure myself to think about any particular thing.
It really helped. I saw some beautiful clouds, and just being around nature and greenery actually helped me relax - not completely (I don’t think I’ve ever been 100% relaxed lol) but enough that I got home and was like “wow, I should do that more”
