Can you write about MC/yuu that like bruno (if you has watch encanto) basically a sweet man that can see the future, disowned/run away from his family to protect his nephew and then got an entire song dedicated to him and the song basically everyone talk smack about him
Oh dear sevens i kin him
Dorm leaders with a Bruno!MC
warning(s): -
notes: really sorry this was late KSNSKNS
•and sorry if i got his character wrong, i havent watched encanto
A reclusive and anxious person, you try to manage you anxiety with superstitious rituals. You're also family-oriented, willing to sacrifice your place in the family to keep them safe.
Having the ability to see the future, you inadvertently hurt or angered the people around you whenever you had a prophecy, causing you to retreat from society and become paranoid and fearful of your own gift.
Riddle:
he tried to help you socialize more
he really tried bro
he even have this weekly "how to socialize" lesson sessions with you
you shivering in your timbers whenever ur lessons with him starts
but riddle notices you're really good at approaching what you fear when the situation calls for it🤔
so he kind of stopped the lesson bc u look kind of scared lol
but he did try to help u whenever you're stuttering in a conversation with someone
he doesn't get why u like rats but he just... let it go honestly
oh well everyone have their own likes and dislikes amirite🤔
he told u not to tell some prophecy so that u won't accidentally hurt or anger people anymore
and so people won't be too dependent of ur ability honestly😡
wanting to make their mother proud and is burdened by their mother's expectations🤝
Leona:
to be honest, he doesn't even remember u at first since u literally avoid people😭
so either he catches u doing one of ur rituals or u gave him a prophecy
if its the first scenario, he will surely go
🤨⁉️
and go back to nap or smth bc he doesn't care much but at least it leaves a lasting impression on him ig
if its the second one, then hooboy
it better be him being a king or smth😡😡
it was not btw
cue him biting his pillow in anger at night
one of the people u accidentally angered with ur prophecy oh oops
oh well he got over it, its ok! he accepted his fate alr!
overall, he doesn't mind ur presence
you don't try to butter him up neither do u talk smack about him
ur also quiet so he's pretty relaxed
Azul:
u remind him of idia
fear not, if he can have idia as a friend, he can surely pull u as his friend too‼️
and surely enough, he actually did got to befriend u
but friends or not, ur ability is giving him ideas🤔
maybe he can open a fortune telling shop? haha hes joking hes joking
or was he😳
but he did try to make sure u dont hurt or angered people with ur prophecy
and if someone is trying to like, 💪have a beat down with u bc of said prophecy, they will immediately stop
bc azul is right behind u, his glasses gave off a shine under the sun as he hold up a contract with a smile on his face
sometimes, he tweels would be right behind him too with the same smiles
"do not." he mouthed
welp you're safe now🤗didnt even know azul was behind u until u turn around
he lied saying hes just passing by btw
Kalim:
quite literally the opposite of each other
but when u got comfortable and finally got more goofy with him, kalim was ecstatic
like he might as well shake in excitement
he would even hold up parties for u!
but if you're not too comfortable with too many people, thats ok! kalim can arrange for there to only be people you're familiar with!
just a private party between the two of you would be fine for him too!
its ok hes flexible! he can go with anything you'd like!
I've been using many exclamation marks for kalim idk how to feel about this!!!
he really likes your ability to see into the future!
he would ask u d a i l y what prophecy u got each day
Vil:
u like acting so since vil is an actor, u quite admire him
when vil finds out about it, hes not all that surprised
he's used to being admired, that is what he deserves afterall
what he didn't expect is for u to be good at acting too
is this... FATE?! /JOKE
he did try to approach u since he saw ur talent but
but its like u suddenly shrunk and became 🐁
it took a while too but once u got comfortable with him, u got vil cleaning up ur appearance everytime
he almost faint when he saw u with a rat on ur shoulder
sometimes, he would ask u to practice his script with him
he doesn't think much abt ur gift honestly KSNAKSJKS
he'd rather work hard to a certain future rather than cling onto ur gift's hope
plus, if its bad, it might crush self-esteem too so no thanks❌he's good
Idia:
he kins u, u kin him
u two probably
Tumblr media
got along the best with onr another
like "damn i don't wanna go out" "me too bro"
*games the whole day idk*
idia is very much comfortable to rant to u
especially since u encouraged him to talk about anything and not bottle up his feelings
be it his favorite show is having a season two or smth, about a new game he brought or maybe even some problems he have with himself deep down
he would be more than happy to do the same with u!
whatever u wanna talk about, ur best friend is right here
he might even let consider making u an ipad that would go to class for u just like the one he have
legit if u asked, hes already on it
on the other hand, he have mixed feelings abt ur ability
sure its cool but he doesn't think he'll be ready if he got a bad prophecy🤔
Malleus:
probably used a persona to approach him the first time
like hernando who is scared of nothing
so the second time yall meet and you're unprepared, he was like
oh:( are u scared of me now?
ofc its not actually like that but he is pouting on the inside tho
when u idk tell him youre just shy and explained everything he just goes :0
he's glad he didn't scare you since he really wanted to befriend u!
the beginning is kind of rough since malleus could be quite awkward and you're quite shy
so when u actually became more comfortable around him and even became more enthusiastic and cheerful, malleus may or may not be ecstatic too🤔
actually, hes too happy flowers might bloom in nrc
he quite interested in your ability to be able to see into the future
sometimes, he might even ask what prophecy u received

Salt
During the "Ghost Bride" event"
Yuu looking at all the failed attempts of the guys and how the wedding time is approaching.
Yuu looks at the time - That is...you mean...that I have again will take away the hostel?!
Yuu pulls out a purse going to Sam's shop - Well, no!
***
Eliza - oh so you're a photographer?!
Yuu holding the camera - Yes. can I ask you to stand together to take a group photo? Without a groom, so to speak, close brides.
- Oh, of course!!It's so exciting!!
Yuu takes out the bag and makes a small hole in the hole and starts making a circle around the ghosts
- Huh?What are you doing?
- Special effect. ..It's called "Salt". If I've learned anything from TV shows, then it will work here for sure.
Idia is in shock - Did they really decide to use it?!?
The rest of the "hostages" - Are you crazy?!?
The ghosts are trying to " fly " out of the circle but run into an invisible barrier.
- What?!What's happening??We can't get out!!
- Let us out!!!
Yuu pulls out a gun made of iron - I told you I'm not going to tolerate the fact that my dorm, which cost titanic efforts to bring to a tolerable state for life, will be so cheekily taken away. So. My terms are, we get out of my dorm. And don't bring the seven you made a mess there...
One of the "guards" in the corridor notices the situation and pounces on Yuu.
Yuu shoots the ghost's head at point-blank range without even turning around. The ghost falls and disappears.
- I've got enough ammo. Salt, too. I'll give you 5 minutes to think.
Deuce is wildly delighted - Prefect is so cool!!
Vil, Leona and Azul - Where the hell did you get a gun from?!?
Someone from the ghosts - This is cruel and inhumane!!
Yuu grabs a chair and sits down elegantly. - It is cruel to condemn a living person to death without even listening to him. And arrange a marriage without consent. It is cruel to attack poor students who have nothing to do with your death. It's cruel to kick students out of their dorms for the sake of ghosts. It's cruel to use magic on students who just wanted to resolve the situation .They did not use any violence. You are going to kill Idia for the sake of the princess ' whim. Where is the guarantee that you will not go further and kill each of us? Until she calms down, or does she go crazy and kill everyone indefinitely?
Idia is in a quiet ecstasy, almost crying - I will finally be saved....Come on, prefect!!kick their asses!!
Leona grinned - and the herbivore turns out to be able to show his teeth.
Azul nervously chuckled - Yes........................ I still got off lightly that time...

Cute legs Yuu
Suppose Yuu is a girl, but all the guys are so stupid in this regard that they do not notice it.
Yuu pulls up his sweatpants above the knee in physical education, because the uniform is clearly too big for them. Crowley gave them clothes from former students and the size did not fit Yuu at all.
Ace looks at Yuu's feet.
Yuu carefully tucks up his pants and it becomes clear that they are wearing striped stockings with a wide stripe like a Grimm bow. Elegant beautiful plump legs.
Ace bites his lip. - Daaaaaamn it Yuu..
Yuu straightening up and pushing her hair back - Hmm?What's wrong Ace?
Ace blushes - Why do you have such beautiful legs ...
Deuce pushing Ace in the shoulder, being red and eyes squeezed shut - Ace! Stop staring!
- Ay, Deuce!Did you see yourself?!?
Yuu looks at the two confused idiots. - what's the matter with you two?
Ace was still staring, fighting off all of Deuce's attempts to close his eyes. - no, seriously..Yuu, they can't even match Vil-senpai. Cute stockings!
-Em....thank you?Can you two calm down already?
- How do you propose to calm down when I have this in front of my eyes?!?
***
Yuu walks with Jack around the sports field collecting equipment.
Other students. - Damn it...what legs...I'd like to have my head pinned between those beautiful thighs for a couple of months.
- Seven help me..I'm going to break my eyes at this piece of art in the flesh.
Yuu almost stumbles over what he's heard, and Jack turns around and snarls at them.
Yuu gently stops him from fighting - Thanks Jack..it was strange.
Jack - if they hurt you, tell me. I'll talk to them.
Yuu notices that he's doing his best not to look at her, and his tail is spinning like crazy. - Jack, is everything okay?
- yes, everything is fine. - Jack's cheeks turn a little red and he turns away.
Yuu is completely at a loss - but what's going on with you you've never seen feet before?!

During the events of episode 3. When Yuu and Grimm had to spend the night in Leona's room.
Early in the morning, Ruggi tries unsuccessfully to wake Leona up. - Leona-saaaaan!!Come on, get up!!Wake up!!
Yuu is still sleepy, gently stroking Grimm in his arms, poor Grimm fell asleep after brushing his teeth and washing his face. So even Yuu decided to give him a nap for both of them.
- Hey!Yuu! Don't be a freeloader, try to wake him up while I clean the room.
Yuu is still sleepy, almost falling asleep.
- Can I wake him up any way I can?
- Whatever!
Yuu gently settles Grimm on the pillow, gently scratching him behind the ear and receiving a contented purr in response.
- He's an even bigger dormouse than the Great Grimm,- Grimm muttered grumpily, rubbing his eyes with his paws.
Yuu meanwhile gathered the sheet from all the ends and with a sharp movement took Leona into the trap of the sheet, which now looked more like a huge bag.
Ruggi looks at the scene in disbelief and quickly pulls out his phone to capture everything on video.
Yuu calmly carried Leona to their dorm pond.
Ruggi couldn't believe it.
- Come on...oh, you're not going to...
Yuu goes to the edge of the pond and throws Leona into the water along with the sheet.
- YOU DON'T KNOW FEAR AT ALL, DO YOU?!? - Ruggi shouted.
- WTF????Icy!!! What the hell?!?- In less than three seconds, Leona floats up in a wild rage and climbs onto dry land.
Yuu is still sleepy - Good morning Leona.
- I'LL GIVE YOU SUCH A GOOD MORNING THAT YOU WON'T SEE A DAY!! - Leona roared, grabbing Yuu face with one hand. A little more and Yuu would have felt his jaw crack.
- Well, you woke up and took a refreshing cold bath at the same time, what are you angry about?
Ruggi was laughing at the top of his lungs and wiping away his tears while crying with laughter
- Damn it!!you really did it!!!You're crazy!!I filmed it!!Then I'll send you the video!!!Oh, the Great Seven!!
- Will you beat me? - Yuu asked awkwardly
- I think it's better to start with.
- Ruggi said to wake you up, but he didn't say what shouldn't do that. But now you don't even yawn.
- You're either so stupid or so fearless that I don't know what to choose from, - Leona growled.
**
Malleus looks at the battered Yuu in amazement. - what is it, child of man?
- You'll laugh.. - Yuu replied awkwardly.
- I should have heard what happened first.
- I threw Leona into the pool in their dorm while he was sleeping.
Malleus freezes and his eyes widen.
- huh?please repeat.
- I was sleepy and did not think straight and threw Leona asleep in the cold water. Ruggi told me to wake him up, but I can't think straight when I'm sleepy. He was so mad that he thought he was me going to tear me to pieces..But we just slipped and fell into the water. And then he got to me because I can't swim and I almost drowned... - Yuu explained painfully and awkwardly.
Malleus bites his lip. Yuu looks at his late-night guest with a puzzled expression...trembling?Maybe he's cold?
Suddenly Malleus bursts into a loud, merry laugh.
- Oh, child!!That's the best I've heard in a while!You threw that lazy cat in the water..
- cold water - Yuu corrected.
- Exactly! Malleus laughed heartily. Yuu felt his face blush with embarrassment and shame.
- What a pity that I did not witness this scene. - Malleus added, wiping away his tears.
- Ruggi made a video, I can show you.
- You never cease to amaze me. - Malleus smiled slyly. - I'd love to see it.
***
During the VDC camp
In the evening, Vil explains the schedule to the participants.
Ace is sad to get up so early. he looks at Yuu slyly.
- Anyway, Yuu, you're not going to throw me in the bathroom to wake me up, are you?
Yuu shudders and turns sharply to look at him
- Ace I swear if you..
Vil interrupts them both - what are you talking about, potato?
Ace awkward - ah ... you didn't hear Senpai?
Yuu - wait Ace!
Ace looks at Yuu with a malicious smile, who starts to blush with shame - to wake Leona, Yuu threw him into a pool of cold water.
Vil, Rook, and Epel look dumbfounded at Yuu who wants to fall through the ground.
Vil suddenly chokes on a laugh and starts laughing merrily. - are you serious?!
The rest of the participants join him in trying to imagine this situation.
- yes..I was sleepy...and Ruggi told me to wake him up...
- What a brave act Trickster-san did! Throw the lion himself into the cold water of the pool!
Epel - I didn't know you were so strong!!To raise Leona himself!!
Yuu covers his face with his hands - please stop saying that this is some kind of feat.
Vil with curiosity-it is a pity that there are no documented materials of this scene left.
Yuu whispered softly, - Yes.
The room falls silent.
Yuu continued to speak and blushing even more - Ruggi caught it all on video..and he gave me a copy..but don't ask me to show it, or Leona will definitely send me to the other world.
Vil - he's too lazy for that. Throwing this spoiled prince into cold water, well done Prefect. But from now on, please don't act so rashly.
Yuu nods knowingly - take my word for it, I have enough adventures in my life, not enough to create new ones for myself.

Lunch
MC dines alone because Grimm and Ace are serving their sentences, and Deuce is on duty at the botanic Gardens.
Malleus notices this and goes straight to the MC.
The entire cafeteria turns their heads in slow motion, but they continue to eat and talk, all looking at Malleus.
Malleus smiling politely - Good afternoon Yuu.
- Good afternoon. - Yuu smiles awkwardly.
Everyone stares at them.
Who among the students is whispering.
- What did MС do to Draconia?!
- He won't fry him??
- MС Fearless isn't even afraid to talk to him.
Mc looks at Malleus, puzzled.
- Did you want something?
- Yes, I wanted to ask you why you're having lunch alone today.
- My friends are either on duty at the botanic garden, or they are doing assignments because of the punishment for their behavior.
Malleus understands, and pauses for a moment.
- Would you like to have lunch with me?
The cafeteria is suddenly dead silent. Everyone is looking at MС
MС smiled sheepishly.
- Oh, with great joy!
Malleus literally beamed and looked at his human friend with great tenderness.
- Follow me and I'll show you the place.
MС picks up her tray and walks next to Malleus.
- Thank you for inviting me, I will always be happy to have your company.
Malleus stops at minita and looks at MC in surprise.
- Is that so?
- Do you mind? - Yuu looks at him worriedly
Malleus chuckles softly.
- No, I don't mind. The truth is, I don't mind your company either.
- What did you take for lunch today?
Malleus literally melts at the simple and calm tone of the Mc.
- I haven't decided yet. What can you recommend me?
MС thinking for a minute
- Hmm, they have some delicious blueberry muffins today. And the pasta with cheese and vegetables is wonderful!
The two of them go to Diasomnia table.
Everyone is literally breaking their necks looking from their seats at these two.
- MС what..hit your head?
- Why are they so calmly talking to him as if they are friends?!?
one of the students could not stand it and asked at the top of his voice - i'm so sorry................but..........WHAT.THE. F*CK?!?

The ghost bride event.
Yuu is a girl here. I've warned you.
Yuu dodges Eliza's slap
Eliza did not expect this - Ha?!
Yuu grabs her wrist and slaps her in response. - Don't. you. dare touch. me. A spoiled child.
Eliza clearly didn't expect - how...you....how dare you....how dare you hit me?!?
Yuu coolly and harshly - What's not to like when you suddenly get hit in the face? And what about my boys whom you just hit like that?
"Slap victims" cheerfully support Yuu. One of them whistles happily.
Azul - if I wasn't paralyzed, I would have applauded her.
- Yours...your boys?!
Yuu - Deuce, Jack and Sebek are some of my best friends. And I'm not going to tolerate that some kind of ghost who can't get rid of the stereotypes of choosing a partner and beating them. My senpai may not be the best grooms in the world and masters of communicating with a girl,and not the best by your stereotypical standards, but they are unique in their own way. Vil - not bad words Prefect.
Trey whispers-Deuce...I think that after Riddle will arrange a serious conversation for all of you.
Deuce - if you are again talking about the topic that we have a bad influence on it. I didn't teach her that.
Idia - YES!!Come on, Prefect!!!Save me!!
Yuu calmly - first of all, you will apologize to the rest of the senpai!!
- w...what...What?!WAIT, WHAT?!Why should I apologize?!?
Yuu angrily - you said nasty things about them and they tried to help!!
Floyd is smiling contentedly - The shrimp is so angry. It's more fun than just lying on the floor.
Jade grinned - I dare say she has a good punch.
***
Yuu enclosing the ghosts in a circle of salt and sprinkling them with holy water from the pulvizer so that it is not touched.
- Boys..how are you?Does anything hurt?
Deuce is uncomfortable - my face hurts.
Leona, Azul and Vil. - My pride..
***
Azul - Yuu-san I am infinitely glad to see you. But how did you get through all these ghosts?
Yuu looking for something in the bag - eh?I just climbed through the window. The guards always think that they will go to the door. And they didn't look at the window behind the curtains. No wonder they were all killed.
all - CLIMBED THROUGH THE WINDOW?!

Child! Yuu: Heartslybul
So I was planning to write a full on plot idea for All the chapters, then I look at the chapters themselves and...yeah that’s going to drain a lot out of me. So instead I’m going to write what each dorm will think of Child Yuu and general headcannons about it.
Ace:
The older brother that Yuu looks up to.
When they first met, Ace was ragging on Grim. He didn’t say anything too mean to Yuu, though. That’s because of his inability to make kids cry.
Really, who makes a 10 year old cry? (Looks at the overblots)
I think Ace would act as the brother Yuu would look up to because he acts all cool around them.
He’d definitely teach Yuu some card tricks he learned from his family.
He treats them like a little sibling. (He’s always wanted a little sibling actually, to tease and joke with)
Yuu has smacked him 100% for being stupid (“Even I know not to make deals with shady fish men. Big brothers, why?”)
Look me in the eyes and tell me Ace doesn’t praise Yuu for causing trouble. Look me in the eyes and tell me.
I mean he’d probably lightly scold them but still.
If anyone makes Yuu cry? Guess they’re going to be thrown back in a gust of wind, with a lot of insulting words to boot. No one messes with Yuu.
When Yuu called Ace “big brother”, he smiled widely, and proceeded to act all smug about it (but he’s really happy that Yuu calls him a big brother)
Deuce:
Deuce is trying his best to be a good big brother.
He has no idea how to be a brother, he’s never had a younger sibling - or a sibling in general.
He’s going to try extra hard to be an honor student; he doesn’t want Yuu to grow up like him! He has to be Yuu’s role model!
Yuu wants Deuce to use magic to lift them up like he did with Ace. Deuce says no.
Low key scared that he’s going to scare Yuu if he goes into his “bad boy mode”
“Those poor chicks...” “...NOOOO THE CHICKS D:”
Ace explains to both of them that the eggs they have aren’t fertilized and never had chicks in them - it’s a chick shock x2
Yuu is softer to Deuce if he does something stupid, but will still scold him.
Both Deuce and Yuu are the excitement duo; they will be excited for anything and will be very hyped up about it.
Deuce is Yuu’s favorite brother (but they don’t say anything because it might make the others jealous)
Deuce summoned a cauldron by accident once, and Yuu climbed in and played peek-a-boo until it was...unsummoned? (I have no idea what happens to the cauldrons summoned by Deuce.)
When Yuu called Deuce “big brother”, Deuce was very flattered. “Big brother? You think of me as your brother? Well, I’ll be your best brother in the world!”
Cater:
So I imagine Cater taking a lot of cute pictures of Yuu.
He’s posted some photos of you on his Magicam and his fans love you.
He totally shows Yuu all of his cute animal photos he’s collected over the years if they asked.
Cater has two big sisters, so he knows the ins and outs of how to be a good sibling.
I can see Cater swapping foods with Yuu - he gives Yuu any sweet food in exchange for some salty food
Yuu doesn’t complain because they like the sweets Cater gives them
But sometimes it becomes a full on debate/trade deal that they take way to seriously.
“What about if I give you this, and you give me this?” “Never! That’s my favorite part, what about this?” “Hmm...I rather do like that...but what if I sweeten the deal and add this!” “....Clever, clever brother.”
Small photo shoots, Yuu is happy to hang out with him!
I think if Yuu ever wanted to wear a Heartslybul outfit Cater would be the one to help find one that suits Yuu (Trey would be the one to tailor it to make it fit better)
Yuu calls Cater “Cay-kun” whenever they want something from him, and he can never say no.
Yuu can always rely on Cater for any troubles they may have.
“Yuu~! Smile for the camera!” “Ok! :D” “I’m saving your smile forever.”
When Yuu first called Cater “big brother”, he laughed and went over to take a photo to celebrate a new sibling bond. (#gotayoungersibling #arenttheysocute? #newbigbrother)
Cater will live up to his big brother role, after all, as Yuu’s new big brother he has to take care of Yuu, no?
Trey:
Yuu thinks of Trey as a big brother and also the best parent.
Would buy Trey a #1 Dad mug if Yuu didn’t also see Crowley as their dad (sorry Trey...but your Yuu’s favorite 3rd year if that helps-)
When they first met, Yuu just got big brother vibes from Trey. Immediately went to hug him.
“You have big brother vibes and I vibe with that.” “What?” “It means Yuu likes you.”
Trey goes full big brother mode whenever Yuu is around. No one with ill intent (who has malicious thoughts about a child?) would think of approaching due to Trey being around.
He definitely spoils Yuu with any treats he bakes (though not too much - they’d get a stomach ache if they ate too many sweets!)
He’s totally the reason why Yuu went on a Sugar Rush around the school (luckily, nothing of value was broken)
I mean, he has a little sister and younger brothers so he knows how to deal with Yuu being hyperactive.
So the damage of the Sugar Rush incident was less destructive than it would have been.
If Yuu is sad, they can rely on Trey to be a shoulder to cry on. He’s very good at listening to their problems.
When Yuu calls him “big brother”, Trey carries the title with pride. Yuu also uses this as an advantage; call Trey big brother? He’s more willing to hear out whatever Yuu is asking more.
Riddle:
Riddle, Riddle, Riddle.
How do I put this? He made Yuu cry.
Yeah, not the best first impression.
During the Unbirthday party, when Riddle knocked the tart off it’s plate, Yuu is quick to defend Ace. Riddle retaliated with yelling at Yuu.
And Yuu (in my canon) does not take people angrily yelling at them well, which makes them panic and cry.
Cater and Trey didn’t have to force them out - Deuce and Ace left as soon as Yuu burst into tears and ran. (As good brothers, the duo went to go and comfort Yuu)
Riddle, for what is was worth, suddenly had a flashback of when he ran away in tears when he was young. He tried to convince his mother to have a tart, and she scolded him to tears.
He feels like an jerk now. A big, mean jerk.
After the overblot business, he didn’t expect a lot of forgiveness. Which is why he was surprised when Yuu walks over and hugs him when he was conscious.
Riddle: Wh...Why are you hugging me? Why do you think I deserve this?
Yuu: Because you look like you needed a hug. I forgive you for earlier, you had your reasons, as much as I disagree with them.
Yuu: You’re fine now! I hope I can help you make amends with Heartslybul big brother! :D
From that moment on, Riddle became Yuu’s big brother.
It was a really sweet moment, and no one dared intervene (well, Grim tried to but Crowley held him back)
As a big brother, Riddle is very overprotective. Be around Yuu in a way he deems “inappropriate” and “as a bad influence”, expect him to go “OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!”
Despite that, Riddle is particularly soft with Yuu.
If Yuu broke a rule, he’d softly scold them, but he did it in a way that was like a soft reminder and not like a lecture.
He’s never had a younger sibling before so he’s asking Trey for tips to be a good older brother.
I’d like to think Riddle teaches Yuu proper tea etiquette whenever they come over for Unbirthdays
Both share a love for sweets, so they tend to share/exchange sweets during lunch

it was a perfectly sunny day.
it was too perfect, you might add. the scene in front of you could easily fit into a studio ghibli movie, the only thing missing are the animated characters, and the soft piano music that usually accompanied the films.
you don't know what made you look at life with rose-colored lenses today, it might be because you're in a good mood, or you woke up on the right side of the bed, or the wind just brought some positive air to you. whatever it is, you're thankful for it.
you're walking around campus with a skip on your steps, a smile on your face as you grinned at the people you passed and the surroundings. to some people, it might come off as creepy, or even weird, but no one is going to ruin your mood today. not when you're so close to having your coffee.
a bigger smile tugged at your lips, looking up at the café in front you – its bold, intricate sign you're familiar with and the welcoming aura beckoning you in.
Crows' Cabin.
your favorite café that serves the best coffee ever in your campus. you couldn't have asked for more. they got your coffee right, the perfect amount of sweetness, the tinge of bitterness, and the smooth feel of the cream like a warm blanket on a cold day. not to mention, their staff is pretty welcoming and friendly, too.
what you loved most about this place is the fact that you can study in peace and the fast wi-fi that they have. it has the perfect atmosphere to do a little studying while you sip your coffee.
walking inside, you pushed the doors open, letting it emit a small ringing sound as it announces your arrival. the usual silver-haired cheery guy that greets you when you come in isn't standing in his usual post. instead, a short guy with bleached streaks greeted you with a lively energy that almost shocked you to the core.
you can't help but think how cute he looks, and walked closer cautiously to the counter.
“hello! welcome to crows' cabin! what can i getcha, cutie?” he gave you a big grin, leaning on the counter with his arm. you blinked in surprise, taken aback by his ecstatic greeting and chuckling lightly.
“hey, uh...is sugawara not here?” you probably sounded rude, but if there's a new guy on his stead, you could only guess that he's going to get your coffee wrong. at least, that's what you think.
he let out a humming sound, his face scrunching up as he thinks with his index finger and thumb under his chin. your heart skipped a beat. he couldn't get any cuter.
“i heard sugawara changed shifts because of his hectic schedule and all,” he explained, waving his arms about. “but you're lucky you're stuck with me! so, what do you want? coffee, tea, or me?” he gave you a wink after his question.
despite the nag of disappointment at the news of sugawara not being able to take your order anymore, it was quickly replaced by giddiness at the presence of this energetic boy in front of you.
before you could answer, however, the other staff with shaved hair that you quickly recognized as tanaka ryuunosuke, emerged from the kitchen and shook his head at his co-worker's antics.
“oi, stop flirting with the customer and take their order already!” he scolded, slapping the boy with the small towel he's holding on the head, earning a yelp.
“ukai-san won't be happy to know that you're trying to pick up chicks while on the job, you know.” tanaka's quip made your cheeks heat up. although, it seemed like the smaller guy is flirting with you, it was probably how he greets all the customers that comes in the café.
yet, the thought of him asking you out isn't too bad at all.
he's pretty attractive, you'll admit that. he's got mesmerizing, big, brown eyes that looks like it can pierce through your soul the longer you looked at them, and not to mention his fiery personality that greeted you the moment you entered.
“i can't help it, ryuu. they just looked so cute! who am i to deny our pretty customer our special service?” he wiggled his eyebrows at you suggestively. god, you wanted the ground to swallow you whole.
“leave the poor customer alone, idiot. look at them, they're too red already!” it definitely didn't help that tanaka made a comment on how flustered you seem to get over his co-workers flirtatious advances.
“i-i'll get the usual, please...” you managed to croak out despite the embarrassment you felt, immediately sliding the exact amount to the counter.
the boy tilted his head at you in confusion, “the usual...?”
oh, right. he's new.
ignoring your flushed cheeks and rapidly beating heart, you murmured how you liked your coffee all the while his piercing gaze is intently staring at you, giving you his undivided attention while you explain your order passionately.
“uh, no– wait, that's probably too complicated. i'll just get that one instead–” he waved his hand dismissively at your panicked ramblings.
“nah, no need. i already memorized your order, angel face.” with one final wink at you, he went to the back to prepare your coffee.
“why don't you settle in and get comfortable while i prepare your drink?” he called over his shoulder.
tanaka could only watch the commotion with fond, proud gaze as he went back to his own station.

during the afternoon, the crows' cabin don't have many patrons unlike in the mornings and evenings. usually, they were back in their classes or offices, and sometimes will only grab a quick bite before heading out.
this is the most peaceful moment, in your opinion, in the café. you hummed along to the song playing on the speakers as you typed away for your essay that is due tomorrow. yeah, it might not be healthy to cram when it's due tomorrow, but with how busy you are, can you really blame yourself?
what's important is you're doing it now instead of putting it away and procrastinating like you always do.
your fingers stopped typing as you gazed out the window, thinking of what to write next. amid the staring absently at nothingness, the boy from the counter approached you. he placed the cup from the tray beside you on a coaster.
“thanks, uh...” shoot, you didn't get his name. you don't remember tanaka mentioning it, too.
he seemed to have read your mind as he laughed, eyes crinkling at the sides as he threw his head back. you can't help but stare at him, he's such a ball of sunshine. any moment now and you're sure your heart will burst because of this guy.
“my name's nishinoya yuu, nice to meet you, uhm...” he stretched his hand out, which made you chuckle. you accepted it, shaking his hand as you introduced yourself.
nishinoya rubbed the back of his head, his cheeks flushing, “that's a pretty name.” he murmured, eyes casting off to the side as the thought of how warm and soft your hands are overtaking his mind.
before he could get carried away, he cleared his throat and looked at you expectantly.
“anyway, i'm excited about what you think of the coffee i made!” he bounced on his heels from where he stood, excitement jittering his bones.
rolling your eyes playfully, you cracked a smile at his excited expression and brought the cup to your lips to take a sip.
time seemed to have stopped as nishinoya watched you take another sip of coffee. you, on the other hand, couldn't believe that he made it just how you like it despite the first time making it for you. the slight smirk didn't escape your notice as you let out an appreciative hum upon the taste.
“so?” he leaned a little close to you, anticipation written all over his cute face.
“i gotta hand it to you, nishinoya. you did well, maybe even better than sugawara’s,” his chest seemed to puff up at your praise which you found endearing. so he likes to be complimented.
“of course! who else can make your coffee if not also the best barista in crows' cabin?” he boasted, thumbs pointing at himself. you can't help the laughter that bubbled out of you. he's such a refreshing presence in such a familiar place. and you're here for it.
he felt his heart clench as he smiled at your laughing figure, one thought only occupying his mind: he wanted to see you smile and laugh more.
he glanced at the clock on the wall, noticing that it'd be a few hours left before his shift ends and until then he still has a lot to do. even if it makes him sad, he has to go back to work and part from you. although, he hopes not permanently.
“anyways, enjoy your coffee! don't work too hard! and uh, call me yuu.” he gave you one last smile before he went back behind the counter.
yuu.
his name kept repeating over and over inside your head, a smile on your face as you looked down at your cup of coffee.
you're definitely going to keep coming back here.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
the next time you went back to the café, nishinoya perked up like an overexcited dog. his face immediately lit up at the sight of you. the relief that washed over you was something that you kept thinking about as you made your way to the counter, a grin splitting your face.
why were you so glad to find out that he's here?
“hey, it's you again. how are you doing today?” he greeted, already buzzing to life at the mere sight of you.
“i'm great, actually. and you?”
“it's been a long day, but it's all better now that you're here, cutie.” he chuckled at the way you became flustered in seconds after he called you a pet name.
“you're not too bad yourself, yuu. i'll take–”
“–the usual. i already memorized it, remember?” he replied, seeing the puzzled look on your face.
“right. yeah, sorry.” you facepalmed yourself softly, shaking your head at your forgetfulness. “it's just...i've been working too hard so i probably forgot,”
“i have just the thing, now go get cozy and i'll bring your drink!”
you took that as your cue to find your seat. today was pretty hectic for you, especially since you have to catch up to the nearing deadlines. taking a seat, you immediately opened up your laptop and began to work.
not half an hour later, a cup was placed in front of you, along with nishinoya sitting at the opposite chair which made you quirk an inquisitive eyebrow at the boy.
“what are you doing?”
“it's okay, i have my break at this time.” he then placed a bag beside your laptop, “on the house, a little birdie told me that it's your favorite,” he sheepishly rubbed at his nape, avoiding your gaze.
opening the bag, you find out that it's one of your favorite pastries inside. you can't help the soft gasp leaving your mouth at the kind gesture.
“oh, thank you so much! i've been craving these lately.” you gave him a grateful smile, biting down on your favorite treat. it still tasted just as good, but what really warmed your heart was the thought of nishinoya purposely asking sugawara for your favorite pastry and you can't help but add it to one of the things you like about him.
wait...like?
you couldn't help but choke at your own thoughts to which nishinoya shot you a concerned look. once you calmed down, you noticed that he kept glancing back at the wall clock then back at you then down at his fiddling hands.
“what's wrong?” you asked through a mouthful of food. yuu chuckled at the sight and shook his head.
“can i borrow a pen?” confused, you gave him one anyway. he grabbed the bag that your food was placed in, scribbling on it.
“thanks, i gotta go back now. break's over. bye!” he jogged back to his station and you were left weirded out by his actions. not only when you were preparing to leave the café did you notice the small note at the other side of the paper bag.
nishinoya yuu
xxx-xxx-xxx :)
you exited the café with your stomach and heart feeling full.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
“do you think they liked the treat? will they even text back?” nishinoya paced back and forth in their small staff room.
“what if they didn't read the note?!” he gasped, stopping in his tracks as he bites his nails in anxiety.
sugawara laughed at his junior's predicament, “relax! of course they'd love the treat, i did tell you it was their favorite. as for the number, you should probably be a little more patient with that, noya.” he advised, placing an assuring hand on noya's shoulder.
as if possessed by a spirit, nishinoya perked up and his agitated self was replaced with determination.
“you're right. i shouldn't worry about it too much. they'll come around!” as soon as he said that, his phone's ringtone resonated in the small space.
on his screen was an unknown number and he immediately knew it's you.
without wasting another moment, nishinoya picked up the phone and answered the call.
“h-hello, y/n?” he internally cursed at himself for stuttering.
“–john? is that you? how's your mother–”
dumbstruck, nishinoya abruptly ended the call and placed his phone on the table.
“what happened? what did they say?” sugawara inquired, eager to know what happened between the two.
“it's not them.” nishinoya deflated like a balloon, covering his face with his palms.
was he reading this right? what if you don't see him that way? what if he was just forcing himself on you and in reality you don't really reciprocate the emotions he felt whenever you enter the café?
with a little more positivity from his seniors and tanaka telling him that he shouldn't lose hope, nishinoya decided to go home feeling less energetic than usual.
it was not around midnight that he received a call from an unknown number. he hated that he felt excited, that maybe, just maybe at the other end it was you.
picking it up slowly, he breathed in and out, counting to five before he answered the call.
“hello, yuu? it's y/n. sorry i called at a time like this,”
his eyes lit up at the sound of your familiar voice. even through the phone it sounded as beautiful as ever.
he almost stumbled over the scattered clothes and mess that littered his bedroom floor when it is indeed you that called him, landing on his bed.
“y/n? it's really you! uh, don't worry about it. i'm not sleeping yet...totally not because i was waiting on you or anything!”
your laughter brought butterflies fluttering in his stomach, oh how he'd love to hear that sweet sound everyday. it got him smiling too as he listened to it.
“i'm sorry for making you wait. i was just busy with my studies and all...but, i've decided.”
“decided...on what?”
there was a pregnant pause on the other end, he thought that you might ended the call or something. but then you spoke up again.
“i wanna go on a date with you.”
he must be in heaven because there is no way in hell or earth that you'd want to go on a date with him. you, who looks so pretty, beautiful, elegant and charming that he's having a hard time if you're actually real. you, who never fails to make his days a little better at work whenever you waltzed in and decided to grace him with your presence. you, with your complicated mixture of coffee that he memorized in favor of impressing you and in hopes that you come back again to the café.
he couldn't believe it.
“y-yeah? that's great! so, when are you free?”
“i was thinking maybe saturday? if that's alright with you?”
“that's fine with me! i actually have a day off on saturday. same time? at the cafe?”
he can't help the grin that's practically splitting his face in half but he's just so happy. he immediately caught feelings for you the moment you walked inside crows' cabin and he can't get you out of his mind since.
the same thing can be said about you, which the only reason you're actually studying in the café and keep coming back there was for a whole another reason other than coffee. heck, you even find yourself thinking of him whenever you drink the beverage.
with a lovestruck look on your face, you nodded even though he couldn't see it.
“yeah, that would be great.”
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
when saturday came, to say that you were nervous and jittery would be an understatement. you can't stop looking at yourself in the mirror or literally any surface that you have a reflection on to make sure that you looked nice and presentable on your date with noya.
and due to that fact, you didn't notice him walking up to you, all smiles and looking as cute and handsome as ever.
“ready to go?” he asked, offering his elbow to you which you gladly accepted.
“where are we going?”
“it's a surprise,” he teased, flashing you a mischievous smile.
you went along with it. the two of you walked, stopped for some food and talked about what you both liked, disliked, and how he got the job at crows' cabin.
“–so i told ukai-san that i really need the money! i was actually just saving up for the new game i saw down the street but i made it sound like it's a life or death situation if he wouldn't hire me. in the end, i loved working there. i mean,” he gestured to the two of you, “because of it, i finally went on a date with a wonderful person!”
chuckling at him, you playfully pushed his shoulder.
“shut up,” you grumbled.
you can't help but admire him. the way he animatedly tell his stories with his own sound effects and grand gestures that never fails to make you laugh and rope you in with the story. he's fun to hang out with, knows a lot of stuff about the neighborhood and won't run out of tales.
“ah! we're here!” he paused walking to stop in front of your designated place.
he brought you to the movies.
“oh, wow...i didn't expect that,” you laughed sheepishly, trying not to offend him.
“i figured we'd watch a movie. ryuu said that there's this new horror movie that's a blockbuster nowadays,” quickly catching on to his plan, you smirked to yourself slightly.
“is that so? well, i'm pretty sure you'll protect me from the scary things in there, right, yuu?”
he seemed to puff up at that, “of course i will! what kind of man would i be if i can't protect you?”
that earned another laughter from you, shaking your head as you tugged his arm towards the direction of the entrance.
he insisted that he'd pay for the tickets and the food which surprised you a bit, but you couldn't really complain since he was being nice all day to you. you decided to just pay him back later.
as soon as the both of you are inside and the movie is playing halfway, you noticed how he's the one who is more scared of it than you. he's trying to play it off by coughing when he'd accidentally yell in surprise or laugh it off when he'd jolt up from a jumpscare.
how cute.
without saying a word, you grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuringly. the feeling of your soft and warm hands brought him back to reality, looking down at your intertwined hands. his cheeks flared up and he thanked himself for choosing a horror movie or else this moment wouldn't happen.
“ah, i'm glad that movie was over!” he cried out in relief. all throughout the movie, he kept squeezing your hand hard like a woman giving birth or hiding on your shoulder when a jumpscare comes on. you gotta admit that you enjoyed his reactions more than the movie itself.
you were both now walking home – he insisted – and your hands are still holding each other, clearly not wanting to let go. by the time you walked out of the theatre, it's already nighttime.
the skies are clear and there are stars peppering the night sky. it's quiet out with an occassional passing vehicles, or a hoot of an owl but it's a comforting silence.
“this is me,” you mumbled, stopping on your tracks once you saw the familiar street your residence was in.
noya can't help but glance at the street behind you with a sad look and down at your still conjoined hands. he knows he should, but he wanted to spend the night with you longer.
“you sure you can make it home okay?” he gave you a pleading look, hoping that you'd let him at least walk you in front of your house.
“yeah, i'm sure.” with that, he let go of your hands hesitantly, linking your pinkies as he gave you a small, content but genuine smile.
“i really had fun today, yuu.” you avoided his gaze when you saw his smile widen in satisfaction. he laughed heartily at that.
“me too, even if i hid throughout the movie.” he rubbed the back of his head, feeling his face heat up in embarrassment. he kept rambling about how he probably turned you off because of that and why he shouldn't have taken you to the movies but somewhere exciting instead.
goddamnit, you can't take it anymore.
leaning in, you closed the distance between the two of you and slotted your lips in his, closing your eyes. you felt his breath hitch at your actions, his hands coming up to hold your jaw.
just like everything about him, the kiss was breathtaking.
it felt like hours when you pulled away, his eyes was still closed as he savored the blissful moment you shared.
“thank you,” you whispered, as if any louder can ruin the magic.
you pushed his shoulders away gently, giggling as you walked home. nishinoya was left there, awestruck with a dumb smile on his face as he stared at your retreating figure like he just woke up from a beautiful dream.
“huh...? hey, wait! come back here!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Suga quietly opened the door of his home and stepped inside, taking off his shoes before he entered the kitchen. He saw a plate on the table, on it laid a little piece of paper that wrote 'Made some dinner, got called in for work. Love you sweetie.' He smiled slightly at the note, making a mental note to thank his mother in the morning. Suga looked at the food on the plate in disinterest; he had no appetite.
He was drained.
He lazily put the unopened plate of food in the fridge, hitching his bag up higher onto his shoulder as he padded up the stairs to his room. Upon entering, he tossed his gym bag to the floor. Sighing, he laid down onto the soft comforter of his bed, turning his head to look at the night sky through his window. Closing his eyes, a memory of a night just like this started to replay in his head.
**flashback**
I still remember, the third of December
Suga sat on his bed, staring at the stars as they glittered in the night sky. Soft footsteps were heard behind him, the bed dipping as the weight from another body came in contact with it.
"Whatchya lookin' at, Suga?" Daichi asked, shifting his weight so he was propped up next to him on the bed. Suga could feel the small flutters in his chest that had slowly started to reveal themselves more and more the past few weeks. They always arose whenever Daichi was near, causing him to knead his fingers together in nervousness- or was it excitement? He couldn't tell.
"The stars, Daichi," he said, eyes twinkling as he was mesmerized by the small lights in the sky, eyes scouring to find constellations he had read about. A light breeze blew through the open window, causing Suga to shiver slightly as the cold air brushed over his skin. The bed lifted up as Daichi walked over to his bag, unbeknownst to the gray-haired setter who was still entranced with the celestial display in front of him.
Suga slightly jumped as a jacket was placed over his shoulders, the familiar lingering scent of cologne and earthy smells invaded his senses.
"Don't even try and act like you're not cold," Daichi said, a slight chuckle in his words as he made his way back to the bed. The flutters had grown even more now; Suga had to stop himself from just bunching up the fabric towards his nose and breathing in Daichi's smell. Instead, he put his arms through the sleeves, tugging the warm material around his body.
Me in your sweater
Suga looked over to Daichi, blushing slightly as he noticed the brown-headed captain staring at him. His fingers twiddled with the fabric of the jacket, a sign of nervousness that he hoped Daichi hadn't caught onto yet. He gave his best friend a small smile, ignoring the painfully prominent flutters in his chest as he looked into his eyes.
"Y'know, that looks better on you than it does me," the captain said, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he eyed the setter in his volleyball jacket. Suga's cheeks flamed as he turned away from Daichi's gaze, hoping he hadn't seen the effect his comment had on him. Even so, a small smile made it's way onto his face.
You said it looked better on me than it did you
**end of flashback**
Suga closed his curtains, blocking his view of the stars he used to love so much. Everything lately had just seemed so much dimmer. That memory was painful and caused his heart to ache. He tried to forget. He tried, he really did-but those damn flutters would never go away.
"Only if you knew how much I liked you."
He whispered the words into the night as he pulled a pillow up to his face, squeezing it hard against his chest. Silent sobs racked through him and tears escaped his eyes one after the other, the only sounds in the room being his quiet sniffles and muffled cries. He couldn't help but think back to how simple everything was then; so much easier to handle. All he had to do was keep his feelings in check whenever he was around Daichi.
Now he had the watch the man he loved be swept away by Yuu Michimiya.
But I see your eyes as she walks by
Suga first noticed the connection between Daichi and Michimiya one day in the hallway. The two were putting their outside shoes into the small lockers that were provided for them at the school. They were talking about the training camp that was approaching, joking about how they were going to have to keep a close eye on Bokuto this time because he might steal Hinata if they weren't careful. Daichi laughed at a comment Suga had made, causing those damn flutters to erupt in his chest once again.
Turning his head to the side to crack another joke to Daichi, his words got caught in his throat. Daichi had completely zoned out of their conversation, eyes widened slightly as he stared at an approaching figure walking down the hallway. Suga slowly trailed his eyes to where he was staring, and when they reached the cause of that look in Daichi's eyes, he could feel his heart shatter into a million tiny little pieces.
What a sight for sore eyes
Suga had watched as the short-haired brunette walked by the two, the feeling of rage almost overpowering the poker face he held as he saw the black material that hung around the girl's shoulders. His hands had clenched into fists near his chest, the butterflies now replaced with wasps that stung at his stomach. When he turned back towards his friend, he crumbled.
Daichi's eyes held the same look towards her that Suga's did when he was looking at the stars.
Brighter than the blue sky
After the scene played out before him, he turned back to his locker and angrily shoved his shoes into the compartment. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes as he heard Michimiya say a small and polite 'Hi Daichi' in his direction. Suga hung his head in sorrow.
'Why can't you just look at ME that way?' He despaired, slamming his locker shut and walking quickly to his class, ignoring the confused shouts from his bestfriend.
She's got you mesmerized,
Suga had sat at his desk trying desperately to pay attention to whatever the teacher was lecturing about, but he couldn't. His brain was running at a quick pace, replaying the look Daichi had in his eyes over and over again. It was like his own personal broken record, one that made his gut clench every time it scratched and replayed.
'How could I have been so naive?' He thought, holding his shaking hands in his lap to keep from drawing attention to himself. He kept his eyes locked onto his paper in an attempt to calm himself down.
It hadn’t worked.
But just as Suga thought he was going to explode, a small piece of paper was slid onto his desk. He shakily lifted a hand up to grab the folded sliver of paper and opened it as quietly as he could. Suga let out a breath he didn't know he was holding as he re-read the words written on the paper.
'Breathe. I'm right here if you need me. Go to the bathroom and splash some water on your face. ~Asahi'
He had given a grateful smile to his long-haired friend and received a small one in return. Asahi was right, he needed a small break. Just a small break to clear his mind. Suga walked to the bathroom, making his way over to the sink where he cupped his hands under the cold rush of water from the tap. He splashed the water onto his face, relished in the contrast between it and his burning face.
He backed away from the sink after turning off the tap, resting his back against the wall of one of the stalls. As much as he wanted to stop thinking about him, that one night couldn't stop replaying in his head. He laced his fingers into his hair and slightly pulled, the pain barely being felt as he was pulled deeper into heartbreak.
While I die.
He dug his palms into his eyes, trying to stop the overflowing of tears as he replayed what happened that night again in his head.
**flashback**
Daichi and Suga made their way down the sidewalk. They always walked each other home, but tonight was different. Sorrow, despair and defeat hung in the air around the two. They had been defeated by Aoba Johsai today in the Inter High Prelims. As third years, and more importantly to Daichi as their captain, they felt as though they had let the team down.
Not a word was spoken between the two, the only sound coming from the footsteps on the pavement. Suga felt horrible-hell, he felt like the world was hitting him with bricks. There were no words that could console him, or Daichi for that matter. All he could do was try to be consoling with his presence. He felt useless.
Suga had his head hung low, eyes unfocused onto his steps. It was like he wasn't even there, just a body moving at an automated pace. He snapped back into reality as he walked straight into Daichi's slightly taller figure. He raised his head for the first time since they left the bus stop, eyes wandering up towards where his best friend stood in front of him.
"I don't deserve to be captain.”
Suga's heart broke hearing the sorrowed tone of Daichi's voice. He sounded like his heart had been ripped from his body. Placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, Suga turned Daichi around to where they stood face to face. What he saw made new fresh tears spring to his eyes.
Daichi's eyes were red and swollen, tears slipping down his face silently as he looked at Suga in despair. The shorter third year immediately flung his body into the brunette's chest, wrapping his arms tightly around him.
"You are the most humble, self-sacrificing and encouraging person I know, Daichi," Suga said, sniffling as tears spilled from his eyes onto the captain's shirt. "You have done so much for the team. You are the most deserving person of the title 'captain', so don't you ever let those words come out of your mouth again," he added on, tilting his head up to look Daichi straight in the eyes as he said the last sentence.
Suga bit his lip to keep from audibly sobbing as he looked into the older boy's eyes, meaning every word that he said. The flutters were there again in his chest, but he payed no mind.
Until Daichi pressed his lips onto his.
**end of flashback**
"Why would you ever kiss me? I'm not even half as pretty."
Suga had whispered the words into the air, finally saying out loud what he had been thinking. The words felt like they hung in the air, suffocating him as he tried shake them away. He took a couple of deep breaths, deciding that acting this way was no good. If Daichi had liked him back, then he wouldn't be looking that way towards Michimiya. Plain and simple. He had to come to terms with that.
But that didn't mean it didn't hurt him any less.
The bell rang outside, signaling that the previous period was over. Suga had exited the bathroom after checking his reflection on the mirror, wincing at his red, puffy eyes. 'Oh well,' he thought, trudging back to his class to get his bag and books.
"Hey Suga, I figured that you would be in there for a little while so I grabbed your things," Asahi said, giving him a small look of sympathy as he handed Suga his things. He gratefully took them from the ace's hands, muttering a small 'thank you' as he turned away from him.
"Are you okay, Suga?" Asahi questioned, the worry prominent in his tone. Suga winced at the question, not wanting to lie to his friend but also not wanting to make him worry more than he already was.
"Ah, um... I'm okay. Thank you for checking on me," He said, lifting his head up to give the taller boy an award-winning fake smile. If Asahi didn't believe his facade, he didn't comment on it. He just simply nodded and walked alongside Suga to the roof where they ate lunch together as a group.
When they had arrived, the one person Suga was planning on avoiding greeted them with a cheery smile. He felt his heart clench in his chest, looking downwards towards his feet as he grabbed the bento he made out of his bag. He sat down away from Daichi, making the older boy shoot him a questioning look that Suga ignored.
The door slammed open as the two rambunctious second years made their appearance. Noya immediately pounced on Daichi, yelling incoherent sentences as he grabbed his shoulders and slung him around.
"Can you please slow down so I can understand you?" Daichi said, struggling to pry Noya off of his shoulders.
"Okay, okay, okay, explain to me what is going on between you and Yuu Michimiya?" Noya said, a smirk prominent on his face as he questioned Daichi. Suga felt his heart sink. He didn't want to hear this, he really, really didn't. Just seeing her in the same jacket he wore that night made him want to puke.
"Nothing is 'going on' between us," the captain said, using air quotations with his fingers to signify the ridiculousness of Noya's question.
"You gave her your sweater,"
Tanaka butted in, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively at the brunette, who now had a faint tint of red covering his cheeks. Suga put down the piece of food he was about to put into his mouth, suddenly losing his appetite completely. His gut was wrenching in pain from the conversation he was hearing, the urge to run away becoming stronger with every passing moment.
"It's just polyester,"
Daichi finally said, making Suga's eyes snap in his direction. He couldn't believe what he had just heard.
‘It’s just polyester.’ Suga had thought incredulously, tears springing to his eyes as that broken record played over and over again in his mind.
He had decided he couldn't handle Noya and Tanaka teasing Daichi about his crush. Shoving his partially eaten bento box back into his bag, Suga practically bolted towards the door of the roof. He ignored the confused calls of his friends, slamming the door behind him. His breathing quickened with each stair he clambered down, tears blurring his vision the farther he distanced himself from the roof.
When he reached the bottom floor, Suga collapsed onto the floor under the stairs, hiccuping into his sleeve as he cried for what felt like the 10th time that day. 'It's just polyester? What the hell does he mean by that-did he even mean what he said to me?'
The thoughts going through Suga's head made him dizzy, his chest felt like a hole had been punched through it. What if he really didn't mean what he had said to him? His fist grabbed at the material of his shirt above his heart. 'No, he kissed me. That couldn't have meant nothing to him...'
Squeezing his eyes shut, hands starting to violently shake as the realization of his situation hit him like a ton of bricks.
But you like her better
Why did this have to happen to him? Why? Why did his heart have to choose the one person he could never have? Why couldn't he be the one Daichi was mesmerized by?
I wish I were Heather.
Now as Suga laid on his bed, he was still was broken as he was that day. Everything had gotten progressively worse and worse, leaving him drained day after day. He was unmotivated. Practices were a pain because he couldn't avoid Daichi when he was basically at his side the whole time. He had yet to meet his best friend's eyes since that day on the roof, but the hollow feeling in his chest stayed.
Suddenly the loud ringtone of his phone filled the quiet room, startling him. He begrudgingly shuffled over to his gym bag, fiddling through the items to find the source of the noise. When he found it, he looked at the Caller ID, and his heart sank.
Incoming Call: Daichi Sawamura
He didn't want to talk to him. He had been avoiding him to the best of his ability, so why was he calling him? He took a deep breath, and clicked the accept button.
"Hey, get some clothes on. I'm headed over to your house, I'm taking you to a party. See ya in a few!" Suga tried to tell Daichi there was no way he was going to a party, especially with him, but he heard the 'click' of the call ending. He ran his hands through his hair in frustration. A party was the last thing he wanted to do, but he knew that when his best friend was set on something, there was nothing Suga could say or do to stop him.
He groaned, wiping his hands down his face. 'Let's just get this over with.'
Opening his closet to pick out some different clothes to change into, he decided to just put on some darker jeans, a plain lavender t-shirt, and a black zip-up hoodie. He had no desire to look good; After all, the only person he wanted to look at him was out of the picture.
As he tied the laces on his shoes, he heard the front door open. "Suga! Let's go! Kuroo called and told me the party already started!" Daichi yelled from downstairs, making Suga groan. He was definitely dreading this. He made his way down the stairs and passed Daichi who was standing right outside the door.
"You ready?" He questioned, not receiving an answer. Suga walked straight by him, rolling his eyes as he closed the door behind him. Daichi looked at him questioningly, not knowing why he was giving him the cold shoulder. They got into the car in silence, reminding Suga of the day after the Sejoh match. He shuddered, not wanting to play through that memory again. The pieces of his heart had yet to be mended, but despite that he felt the little flutters in his chest that he now hated.
He hated that he still felt the same way after all this time. He was still in love with Daichi, even after knowing that Michimiya was the one he longed after.
Suga sighed, putting his hands into his pockets as the house came into view. "You know what?" Suga started, still looking ahead at the road. "What?" Daichi questioned, happy that his best friend was finally talking to him after what had seemed like forever.
Suga faltered. He really didn't know where he thought he was going with this conversation.
'Did you really think that telling him now would be a good idea? Wow, you really are pathetic,'
He clenched his fists in his pockets. He wanted to tell Daichi how much pain he was in, how much he wanted him. But he couldn't.
"Nevermind," he finally muttered out, getting out of the car and walking up the steps to the house, opening the door. He heard Daichi sputter out a response, ultimately snapping his mouth shut when he realized Suga wasn't going to listen. The setter was greeted with loud music and the strong smell of alcohol and sweat. He spotted Kuroo and Bokuto in the living room playing beer pong against Terushima and Iwazumi.
"Hey hey hey!" Bokuto yelled as he saw the two walk in the door, Daichi giving him a bro hug and Suga giving him a small wave. "What's up guys? Here, have a drink," Terushima said, holding out two cups filled with god knows what to the two.
Suga politely declined his offer, while Daichi took one of the cups. In a moment Kuroo had taken the other cup out of Terushima's hand and chugged it, yelling afterwards.
'I already want to leave'
Suga walked over to a more secluded place in the house. He closed his eyes for a moment, the booming music reverberating through his ears. As he opened his eyes, he locked onto two figures sitting on the couch.
Watch as she stands with her holding your hand
Suga's world crashed down yet again. He watched as Micimiya sat down on the couch and reached over to hold Daichi's hand, giggling as he said something to her.
Put your arm round her shoulder, now I'm getting colder
Daichi placed his arm around her shoulder, making a small, giddy smile grace her features. Suga crossed his arms over his body, wishing he could just disappear. It was enough just knowing that they were together, but actually seeing them act like a couple right in front of his eyes caused the pain in his chest to grow tenfold. The room felt like it was closing in on him, making his breaths become shallower.
He glanced back up at the two, cringing again as he noticed the jacket she was wearing. He wanted to hate her. He wanted to so bad, but he just couldn't. Yuu Michimiya was no doubtedly perfect. Short, athletic, and beautiful. How could he beat that?
But how can I hate her? She's such an angel.
He grit his teeth together in anger, tightly gripping the material of his shirt in his fingers. Even if she was perfect in every way, he couldn't help himself from imagining what his life would be like if Yuu Michimiya just didn't exist.
But then again, kinda wish she were dead
Suga barely noticed a presence beside him as he was lost in his own thoughts. "Hey Mr. Refreshing," the figure said in a sing-song voice, and Suga didn't need to look to know who the voice belonged to. "Hello Oikawa,” he breathed out, resting his head onto the wall behind him. He couldn't help but let his eyes trail back to the two on the couch.
He noticed Oikawa settle back onto the wall beside him. The great king followed Suga's eyes until he understood what was making his fellow setter so upset. Suga watched as Michimiya said something to Daichi and rose from her sitting position on the couch.
As she walks by,
Suga couldn't help the sneer that overcame his face as she walked in front of the two, eyes staring at the jacket wrapped around her small body. Oikawa chuckled a little, watching as Suga practically killed the girl with his eyes.
"What are you laughing at?" Suga snapped out, looking annoyingly at the cocky setters face.
"What a sight for sore eyes,"
"Shut up Oikawa," he said, rolling his eyes. He started to walk away but a hand snatched out and grabbed his wrist.
"Here, drink this. It'll help you feel better," the brunette said, holding out a red solo cup just as Terushima previously had before. Suga contemplated it, mumbling a 'fuck it' and downing the bitter liquid in one go. He coughed a little and whiped his mouth, sighing as he felt the alcohol make it's way through his body.
Brighter than the blue sky
He deserved a drink. He deserved to be relieved of this hollow feeling in his chest. If getting drunk meant that he could forget Daichi, that his mind would stop playing that broken record over and over again, that those stupid flutters would go away, then getting drunk it was.
She's got you mesmerized,
"Come with me," Oikawa suddenly said, grabbing Suga's forearm and pulling him in the direction of a flight of stairs. The grey-haired boy sputtered out some words of confusion, but Oikawa still walked at a fast pace up the stairs, not faltering for a second to answer his questions.
Oikawa opened the door to what Suga decided was a bedroom, quickly shutting the door behind them when they entered. "Oikawa, what are we doing up h-"
He was cut off mid-sentence by Oikawa forcefully pressing his lips onto his.
While I die.
Suga placed his hands on Oikawa's chest, pushing him off of himself. "What are you doing?" He sputtered out, looking incredulously at the taller boy. Oikawa stepped closer to him, making Suga take a step back, his back hitting the door they just came in. The brunette placed his right leg between Suga's, bending down slightly to look him in the eyes.
"I know you're in pain. I can see it in your eyes," he said, reaching up to cup Suga's cheek in his palm, "let me help you forget, even if it's just for a little bit," he whispered, lips lightly grazing over Suga's.
He didn't have the chance to speak before Oikawa's lips were back on his, but this time, he didn't push him away. Instead he kept his hands on the taller boy's chest, slowly moving his lips along with his.
Why would you ever kiss me?
'Maybe he's right, I just need to let him help me,' Suga thought as his hands ran through Oikawa's hair, tugging at the strands lightly.
I'm not even half as pretty,
Oikawa licked Suga's bottom lip, asking for permission before letting his tongue slip into Suga's mouth. The shorter boy ignored the fact that he didn't once feel the flutters in his chest whenever Oikawa kissed him.
'This is the only way to get over him, you saw her down there! She was wearing his jacket, he's not yours,'
You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester,
Oikawa moved down from his lips to place sloppy kisses onto his neck, leaving Suga to take in deep rugged breaths. In his gut he knew this was wrong, so wrong, but the need to forget his sorrows overpowered that gut feeling. Daichi didn't like him, and here Oikawa was, offering to help him.
But you like her better,
Suga let out a slight moan as he felt Oikawa's hands slip under his shirt, hot fingertips running over his body left goosebumps in their wake. He closed his eyes, trying to relish in the feeling of the hot kisses the brunette was placing on his torso, but before he knew it, he imagined Daichi was the one kissing him.
“If you want me to stop I will.
“No, it’s fine. I’m fine. Keep going, please.”
Suga didn't realize his phone was buzzing over and over again with texts from his best friend, asking where he was.
I wish I were Heather.
Downstairs, Daichi sat on the couch with his phone is his hands. Suga wasn't responding to any of his texts, making him worried. One second he was standing against the wall talking to Oikawa, and the next they were both gone. Daichi glanced over as Tanaka sat next to him, muttering a simple 'hi'.
"Hey Daichi, where's Michimiya?" Tanaka questioned, but he wasn’t really paying attention. He was too worried about whether Suga was okay, contemplating going to look for him.
He shrugged his shoulders in response to Tanaka's question, not really concerned at all as to where the girl was.
Right as he was about to get up and search for the missing setter, he appeared in front of him. Suga had his eyes downcast, grey hair hanging in front of his eyes.
"Can we leave?" Suga questioned, his voice quiet.
"Sure."
~~~~~~~~~~~
The car ride was silent. Suga was looking out the window at the night sky, the stars still shining bright as they made their way down the road.
He felt numb.
He still hadn't processed what happened with Oikawa, feeling that it was better to just act like it never happened. But that hollow feeling was still ever-present.
"Alright, talk," Daichi suddenly said, making Suga jump slightly, "You've been acting weird, so what's up?"
Suga felt his heart drop. Daichi had noticed his behavior towards him. Inside his head he was panicking, breaths quickening as he kneaded his hands together. Taking a deep breath, he finally decided to say what was on his mind.
"Why would you ever kiss me? I'm not even half as pretty,"
The night after the Sejoh game flashed in his mind.
"You gave her your sweater,”
he scoffed a little, adding
“It’s just polyester,”
As Daichi listened to the words he immediately pulled over to the side of the road and parked the car.
He turned to look at Daichi, tears now silently spilling down his face.
"But you like her better,"
He looked down at his hands, feeling defeated.
"I wish I were-"
His sentence was cut off as Daichi placed a hand under his chin, kissing him deeply. His eyes widened for a moment, slowly closing as he melted into the kiss.
Daichi pulled away after a moment, wiping Suga's tears away from his cheeks, his own fresh ones sliding down his face.
"I'm so sorry Suga. I had convinced myself you would never feel for me the way I did for you. Michimiya was a distraction, a horrible one at that.”
Daichi paused to wipe his tears, thumb hovering lightly over Suga’s cheek.
“I should have told you about my feelings instead of being a complete douche,” he said, the two laughing lightly at the comment.
“Yea, you should have.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You should be.”
“Can I be forgiven?”
“Only if I get that jacket back.”
Suga genuinely smiled for what felt like the first time in months. Daichi put his lips to his again softly. “Of course. It was always yours to begin with anyway.”

Tumblr media
- genre. fluff
- pairing. nishinoya x gender neutral reader
- warnings. none :)
- word count. 1.2k+
- a/n. happy birthday nishinoya ! this one was honestly kind of rushed + it’s also my first time writing for nishinoya lol. i hope to get better and more comfortable writing for him
(this one’s for the nishinoya simp @xmalereaderfics )
Tumblr media
upon entering your first class of the new school year you came to one simple conclusion; your classmate, yuu nishinoya, was loud. and not in an obnoxious way as other people may think. in a way that you found endearing. usually, anyone else’s reaction to his sudden outbursts of excitement would be to shush or scold him. you, however, encouraged him.
your classmates liked to call you two the jokers of class 2-3, or the inseparable pair. the two of you always joked around no matter the situation.
in class, both of you would be scolded countless times for simple things such as laughing. your teacher’s decision to put you both on cleaning duty after school was a horrible idea, leaving the two of you cracking jokes back and forth instead of actually cleaning.
however, after months of being known as the comedic pair, you began to notice a change in nishinoya’s behaviour. he never ran up to you when you entered the classroom anymore, and he always seemed to be in a hurry to rush off whenever you approached him. if you were being honest, this left you dumbfounded and kind of hurt.
“nishinoya, what’s going on with you today?” daichi’s voice echoed throughout the gym. “nothing, captain!” nishinoya didn’t take his eyes off the ball as his senior voiced his concerns. he, however, was not focused. he’s been missing dig after dig and receive after receive all because of one person in particular. you.
nishinoya has been torturing himself for the past four months for catching feelings for his best friend. why? because he believes he has no chance. nishinoya believes that the only connection between you two is strictly friends and is and never will be anything more. it’s only a matter of time before he lets it slip and you stop being friends with him.
“still fussing over l/n-san?” tanaka questioned, taking a sip from his water bottle. nishinoya stiffened at the mention of your name, and instantly launched himself into attacking the buzzcut boy. “you can’t just say that so loud, idiot! and why do you think that, huh?” nishinoya and tanaka began bickering back and forth before suga and ennoshita pulled them away. “you know, i’m just trying to encourage you to tell them, right?” nishinoya froze at his question, the gears in his brain turning. “what? you think i’m gonna tell them?” tanaka crosses his arms and nods his head while grinning, “i see how they look at you. they’ve got it good. nice job, man!” nishinoya stayed dumbfounded as he went to high-five tanaka’s outstretched hand.
nishinoya sighed before groaning, catching the attention of each member of the team. “what’s wrong, nishinoya-senpai?” hinata asked innocently, bounding up to the second-years. “shouyou…you wouldn’t understand,” nishinoya sighed dramatically before shaking his fist. “why do they have to be so amazing! dammit! what am i supposed to do now?”
“why don’t you leave them something? like, leave them snacks or flowers or letters,” yamaguchi counted off using his fingers. nishinoya thought for a moment, his fist tucked under his chin. “i could leave them flowers,” nishinoya nodded.
“do you even know what their favourite flower is?” tsukishima jested. “of course i do! they told me at the beginning of the year when we walked home together!” nishinoya defended, getting irritated at the blond’s snarky words.
“oi! let’s get back to practice!” daichi interrupted, with everyone taking their previous positions on the court.
Tumblr media
the first day you received a flower, you were dumbfounded. you looked around the half empty classroom before looking back down at the flower. there was no note, so how did you know it was yours? you just assumed it was meant for someone else, yet you had no idea what to do with it.
nishinoya watched with tanaka as you walked up to your friend, handing it to them. nishinoya face palmed, waving a temporary farewell to tanaka before heading in.
Tumblr media
the second day, you were just, if not more, dumbfounded than the first day. by now, you had understood that they were clearly meant for you. the tag on the stem with your name written on it only solidified your claim. once again, you looked around, seeing if anyone was looking at you. you turned out to look into the hallway to see tanaka walking past as nishinoya walked in.
“hey, noya-san!” you greeted, slipping the flower into your shoulderbag, leaving the top sticking out so it wouldn’t wilt. “hey, l/n-san,” nishinoya greeted with an unsure tone. you didn’t think anything of it as you sat down at the sound of the bell.
Tumblr media
it’s been exactly two weeks since receiving your first flower, and you felt as though you were getting closer to figuring out who it was. it could have been tachibana-san, who sits diagonally from you, or possibly mai-san, who sits right in front of you. however, you couldn’t help but notice that nishinoya has been acting more distant than ever, and you figured you should get to the bottom of it.
you studied in your classroom after school as you waited for nishinoya’s volleyball practice to end. as soon as the alarm on your phone went off signaling it was time to find your friend, you packed up your stuff and hurriedly left the classroom.
you headed towards the front of the school to change your shoes, only to turn the corner to see nishinoya stuffing a small bunch of flowers - the same one you found in your bag earlier today - into your shoe locker.
“noya-san?” your voice elicited a yelp from your friend, who was now frozen in place, clutching the bunch of flowers. “l-l/n-san…” he began, his voice cracking. there was a moment void of noise before you spoke, “you’re the one who’s been leaving those flowers?” he dropped his hand, and redirected his gaze to stare straight down at his shoes. you watched him nod slowly, his knuckles turning white from how tight his grip was on the stems.
you walked towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder, leaning down to look into his eyes. “thank you,” you spoke quietly. nishinoya’s eyes darted between both of yours, his face growing red in colour from the close proximity. “but…?” he asked. “hm? oh, there’s no but! just...thank you. i was kinda hoping it would be you,” you admitted shyly. his head snapped up, his mouth hanging open.
you gave him a soft smile before he snapped his head to look at the flowers in his hand. “here,” he held the flowers out to you. “i like you, l/n-san. and i really hope this doesn’t change the comedy shtick we have going on.” you shook your head, chuckling softly. “of course it won’t. i’ve missed that by the way,” you said, your fingers brushing against his as you accepted the flowers. “i know, i’m sorry. i had no idea how to tell you.”
you smiled before leaning in to kiss his cheek, your lips lingering on his skin for a few seconds. pulling back, you took note of how his face was burning up and how his jaw was nearly on the floor. you giggled as he shook his head quickly to snap himself out of his surprise. he playfully nudged your shoulder before leaning down to lace your fingers with his. “can i walk you home, f/n?” you felt a blush creep onto your face at the way he said your given name. “of course, yuu.”

Teach me, Senpai! (Nishinoya Yuu)
Tumblr media
Noya- is he the best person to teach you? Probably not.
Pairings: Nishinoya Yuu x female reader Type: fluff Before you read notes: Y/n’s on the girls volleyball team
Tumblr media
You picked up the balls a couple at a time, running back and forth between the court and the basket. It was only around 5pm, but practice was already ending. The third years, which made up the majority of the team, had an important project due, and so practice was cut short so that they could focus on it. You finished up picking up the last of the balls, and everyone else was done cleaning up the rest. You waved them good luck with a smile, and you headed to somewhere you could practice.
Standing outside the girl's gym, you decided you would join the boy's team to practice a bit more. You headed over to their gym, holding your bag and volleyball equipment- namely your knee pads. You skipped, excited that you could probably still practice.
The door creaked as you slid it open, "Hello! Is it possible for me to practice here with you guys?" The boys all turned around, surprised to see a girl other than Kiyoko and Yachi walk in. The whole team looked at you, and they were still for a second until Kiyoko walked in behind you, and asked why you were here.
"Ah, the girls' team's practice ended early because of a big project my senpais had to work on. I wanted to practice some more, so I thought that maybe I could use this gym? " Everyone was still looking at you, attentively. "It's alright if there's no space for me; I could always go home early to work on some other things-"
"WE'LL TEACH YOU!" one of the boys yelled out, the one with almost a bald head.
"YUP! WE CAN TEACH YOU!" a shorter one yelled. He was just about as short as you, maybe even shorter. You jumped a little, surprised at how much energy they had.
A bigger player grabbed both of their shoulders, a third year you assumed, and warned them, "You cut her off, apologize." he then turned to you, changing his expression from a menacing one to a soft smile. You thought a smile like that suited his dark brown eyes and hiss leader disposition rather than the warning look he gave the two just before. "I'm sorry about that, you can continue speaking."
"Ah, it's okay. All I wanted to ask is if I could practice a bit by myself here." you told him, since you figured he was their captain.
"Oh, sure-" even he was cut off by the two enthusiastic boys. "WHAT DO YOU GONNA PRACTICE?! I'LL HELP YOU!"
You flinched, even though you had heard them yelling before. You were grateful there were people who were so eager to each you, though. "Uh, I'm just going to practice receiving a bit..." you started saying, until you saw their captain scold them. After a bit, the two had calmed down and the one with short dark hair approached you, "Ah, I'm sorry about that again. These two idiots never learn."
"No, it's okay. I'm not particularly bothered by them." you said, and went over the corner to practice receiving. You didn't know how to practice receiving by yourself, so you just tried your best to keep it in the air as long as possible. You would last a few minutes, but after a while, you'd accidentally hit it too far up or away, making it hard for you to get. It frustrated you, and you hated being so inept at volleyball. You'd be the girl's team's libero next year, as the current one was going to graduate this year and there were none among the second years. Knowing this, you felt the need to be strong enough to support them and give them peace of mind while playing. You quietly talked to yourself as you practiced, getting increasingly frustrated at yourself.
When the boys started individual practice, the short, enthusiastic one from before approached you, "Hey, you're (y/n), right?"
You turned to face him and put on a smile, "Yeah!"
"Wanna practice receiving with us? Shoyo and I are gonna practice together! It's going to be so much fun!"
You didn't think practicing by yourself would be good enough, so you decided to take up on his offer and practice with them. Shoyo would be serving, since he was told he needed to work on those, and you would be receiving. Nishinoya was supposed to be receiving and giving him feedback, but he decided to watch and give you feedback instead. He said it was "BECAUSE I AM A GOOD SENPAI."
So, the three of you practiced for a while. Shoyo sometimes missed some of his serves, which made it impossible for you to get. Nishinoya tried to explain how to receive using words, but it didn't exactly make sense to you. You didn't know what "pom" meant, and so that didn't really help you. So, you suggested that he show you by example, and so he did some receiving too. You learned by examples best, and so with his skills, you improved a lot for a day.
--mini time skip--
"Nishinoya-senpai, Hinata-kun, thanks for practicing with me!" you waved them goodbye as you headed home.
"(y/n)! You did well today; let your amazing senpai treat you to popsicles!" Nishinoya smiled at you.
"Sure!" you smiled back and the two of you headed towards the convenience store to pick up those popsicles
-End-

Ryusoulger Solo Interview from Mynavi: Kishida Tatsuya
Tumblr media
Ryusoulger has been running for four months since the start of its broadcast in March 2019. How you are feeling about it?
When the Sixth Ranger Kanaro (Hyoudou Katsumi) finally appeared in episode 14, I thought, “Ah, we have come this far. Time sure flies.” Even so, the feeling that I’ve played my role as well as grasped that distance we’ve gotten through between every episode up until now, is still very strong.
- Banba used to have a harsh view such as “In order to save many human beings, (Minusaur’s host) one’s sacrifice is unavoidable.” But he met Kou and the others, and little by little was exposed to their kindness. So, there are a lot of episodes dedicated to this process. Surely for Kishida-san,  those episodes’ impressions are strong, aren’t they?
I’m now sticking to the part that “Banba’s atmosphere is different from everyone else”. At this stage, he doesn’t have any intention to become friends with Kou, so I’m always aware of the subtle sense of distance, such as standing alone even though everyone else is gathering.
-From now on, surely, we’re expecting that Banba will fully communicate with Kou and become friends.
I once had the opportunity to talk with the screenwriter Yamaoka (Junpei) and the producers, and at that time he said “Banba is the closest when it comes to human emotion.” You see, when humans have aged long enough, they won’t change easily in a year. That’s how I think about it. “Yesterday,he was gentle, but today, he is back to being grumpy again?” We discussed whether or not it was a good thing to have such character like that.
-In episode 8 “ Singing Voice of Miracle”, Ryusoulger successfully fools the enemy. After Kou and Towa happily do a high-five to each other, Banba only bumps fists with Kou, while his face facing the other side. Such a wonderful “Tsundere”. He’s not planning to get along, but he lets himself join their rhythm. That’s what makes Banba stand out. Am I right?
Actually, we were being let to do ad-libs at that time. I never thought it would be used (laughs). After the episode was broadcasted, I was surprised to hear a lot of feedback about that on Twitter. It was a casual scene and I played it without much thought. Because of the slow motion, I was shown moving in various ways, even though it was a quick filming. At first, I thought I didn’t have to do anything, but Kou and the others were so eager to do high-five with Banba. So in the end, I just did it without seeing his eyes.
-Even for the children who watches the TV series, Banba is strong but a little “scary”. That is the impression they may get from him.
I also think so. Like I said earlier, “Banba will not change”, but by meeting Kou and others, a slight change is unavoidable. At first, he called Kou “Omae” (T/N: means “You” but harsh), but he started to call him by his name. Although he consciously can’t forgive it, there is still a part in his heart where the intention to be friends is growing.
-It may be rude for me to say this but, Banba is unexpectedly quite popular among children. Kishida-san, is there any experience, like when you finally realized the popularity of Banba?
The thing that I feel grateful about is, I get talked to more often than usual when I walk outside. Originally, I thought Banba was intended to give appeal to the mothers and older Tokusatsu fans, but unexpectedly, I heard some young children said “I like Banba”. I was really happy about that. Not to mention that Banba also has some fans among girls. I once looked at Instagram, and found a kid wearing Banba’s costume that their mother likely has made by herself, and I thought, “Oh, it ’s pretty cool” (laughs).
- Banba dan Ryusoul Black’s costumes are based on the color black, thus giving very cool atmosphere. I can understand those children’s feeling who want to cosplay as him.
Wearing this outfit, you may feel a little restrained around your waist and look slim. On the other hand, as soon as you get a little fat, it would be very much noticeable, so I always pay attention to maintaining my body shape.
-Then, if there is a scene where Banba has to eat something delicious, it would be difficult, wouldn’t it?
The food that appeared in the show up until now, in the end, they were all eaten by everyone. Asuna (Osaki Ichika) is always shown eating something, after all (laughs). Banba is never shown to eat anything in the show, but the staffs always prepare delicious-looking food and make the studio filled with yummy smell. That’s why, even though I don’t want to, I always find myself want to eat. When the filming is over, I end up eating up a lot too (laughs).
- Who do you think has grown up the most, comparing to when you first met them?
That’s definitely Obara-kun. He is 17 years old now and it is his moments of growing up as a person. When I look at him by my side, I think “He’s doing amazing!” I’m impressed by how refined his expression now. We sometimes make pacts among ourselves, such as to arrive 10 minutes before meetings, and Obara-kun is the best when it comes to follow the rules. We have been together for a long time as brothers, and I would be very happy if Obara-kun could feel various things from me, and myself also could give him some good influence.
-Kishida-san, you seem to have so much fun being an elder brother who is proud of his little brother. I begin to think that you two are really like real brothers.
Well, aren’t we real brothers, though?(laughs) Looking closely at Obara-kun’s growth, makes me think I can’t lose to him. So, it feels like I’m being encouraged too.
Looking at Kishida-san’s Twitter, we can find two-shot photos with some actors who have appeared in the “Kamen Rider” and “Super Sentai”. Surely, these photos show us wonderful friendship between heroes, aren’t they?
Isomura Hayato and I have once appeared in “Kyou kara ore wa!”, but at that time I didn’t know that he also appeared in “Kamen Rider Ghost” (Kamen Rider Necrom/ Alan). When I was decided to appear in “Ryusoulger”, I looked up to various things about the past “Super Sentai”, and found out that I was acquainted with such amazing Kamen Rider and Tokusatsu heroes. “I should take pictures when I meet them next time,” so I thought (laughs). I get along with Inaba Yuu-kun (Kamen Rider Mach/Shijima Gou from “Kamen Rider Drive” ) , Tozuka Junki-kun (Nara Shunpei from “Kamen Rider Wizard”), and Suda Masaki-kun (Philip from “Kamen Rider W”). I took photos with them, hoping that it could make Tokusatsu fans happy.
-But now, you have joined those heroes whom the children look up to. What kind of feeling do you have when you strike your “transformation” pose that is unique to you as a hero?
It’s exciting, really. I myself used to be a child who played and imitated those heroes’ transformation poses, up to their details. I feel excited to think that there would be some children who imitate my transformation pose this time.
-Who is Tokusatsu hero Kishida-san admired as a child?
“Choriki Sentai Ohranger” (1995) and “Gekisou Sentai Carranger” (1996) were the oldest heroes in my memory. But the one that I felt most addicted was “Seijuu Sentai Gingaman” (1998). In fact, the memories of playing with Gingaman’s toys still remain vivid. Among the five warriors, red and blue rangers have different ways of transforming, and I was a child who cared for those trivial things like that. Therefore, as Banba, I’m strongly aware of things like, the movements that only Banba would do. Even in the ending Que Bom Dance, the dance actually shows the individuality of each Ryusoulger.
-Action scenes are also frequently shown, especially in the episodes when director Sakamoto Koichi was in charge, like in episode 7, 8 and 15, 16. Some scenes, such as doing Ryusoul Change while fighting against Drunn soldiers were really outstanding.
I originally love action, and Director Sakamoto is the person in charge who has spent time in various action scenes, so I feel we are very compatible. Episode 15 and 16 are more challenging than episode 7 and 8. I want to challenge more actions in the future.
-Even at press conferences and photo sessions, Kishida-san’s “commitment”, such as not showing “smile” at all as Banba, is very wonderful, in my opinion.
I always think that images are important for heroes, so I want to do my role firmly. However, it is troubling me when people greet me as Banba. Banba’s personality makes me seem to be a very cold person. Of course, I myself am different from Banba, so when I naturally tried to act gentle, the mothers reacted like “Huh? Is Banba actually such a person?” It made me rethink that he really is such difficult role! (Laughs) However, they also pointed out those as the “unexpected” sides of Banba, so it still settles me much or less when creating a solid image of Banba. I myself like children, so I want to give them a gentle approach, but about how I should do it … I just can’t find the answer. I think I have to ask those who are already seniors at being heroes.
–Banba had never smiled until now, but at the end of the episode “The Prisoned Mosa”, he cracked a little smile, and it had positive reception on Twitter. I guess, it’s enough to make more children come to Banba deliberately now.
Until now, the children never come to me by themselves. Therefore, I myself try to go closer when I have eye contacts with children.
-In the 13th episode “The Prime Minister is Ryusoul tribe!?”, the existence of Banba and Towa’s master was implied. But Kishida-san and Obara-san, were you two actually aware of such story development and the mysteries behind it?
-To be honest, until we get our new script, we’ve been acting without knowing what will happen next. There were times when I acted while thinking “So, it was actually this kind of story!?” It is my first experience to act under such condition, so it’s very difficult (laughs). As an actor, playing without knowing the future is anxious, but fun. However, I don’t want to regret, saying such things like “I should have done it like this” when looking back at the past after I find out about the mysterious part. For now, acting while deciding what is the best to do in various subtle situations, becomes a great lesson for me as an actor.
-Ryusoulger cast give a very good impression as a team. Do you think that good relationship with them as friends affects your acting as Banba?
Looking at these recent scene photos, it seems Banba’s expressions are somewhat gentler than at the start of filming. This also happens to everyone else, and I guess it is because of the length of time we’ve spent together. I want to be an actor who rather than becomes the source, I prefer to be “the receiver” of those plays from various people. And I think my expressions get mellowed due to having received those feelings. It is now a completely different atmosphere compared to the beginning. If I was let to say one thing, it would end up divided into 5 or 6, as we actually share the same feelings among ourselves.
-Kishida-san, as the oldest member, you also have longer experience as an actor, to the extent that everyone else admires you as their “big brother”.
-Whenever there is something they don’t understand, it’s nice to hear them calling me out “Tatsu-nii! Tatsu-nii!”. I feel to be in a position that has to warn them if they do something sloppy. But rather than saying it directly, it’d be better if I act in advance and put myself as an example. They are all honest and nice guys, and the new member Hyoudou (Katsumi)-kun is also very polite when playing baseball. He’s such a pleasant man to be involved with.
-As we know, the long-awaited movie “Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger THE MOVIE Time Slip! Dinosaur Panic!!” has been released on July 26. Is there any experience that particularly impressed you when shooting this movie?
I still remember, after shooting all day long, there was a time when I couldn’t do (acting) at all. After episode 17, Banba’s attitude to his friends has much or less changed, but according to the script, the episode has not happened yet in the movie. So I had to enter the movie setting while being aware of that. Up until now, the change of Banba’s emotion has accumulated according to the order of TV episodes. I had to act while throwing away some parts of those changes that shouldn’t have happened in the movie. It’s quite difficult.
There was also things like when I was troubled during the shooting, it suddenly went raining. I’d heard that weather in the location might change easily…, but because of raining, I became impatient to fix and catch up … Things that I thought world be worked out…, the confidence just immediately flew away from my head. That’s why, I would be happy if you can check on the theater, those changes in Banba’s expressions that have troubled me so much.
-In episode 1 and 2, Banba and Towa have not yet appeared, so Kishida-san and Obara-san met Director Kamihoriuchi for the first time in the movie version. Kamihoriuchi-san once said in an interview that he always acted strictly towards all the actors, but how exactly does Kishida-san see Kamihoriuchi-san as a person?
When a scene isn’t played well, he will immediately go “Cut!”, and make us repeat it until it is good enough to be used. Rather than strictness, I think that it is more like Kamihoriuchi-san’s “kindness”. Because in order to meet the expectations of the directors, we indeed must continue to improve ourselves as actors.
-Please tell us about the highlights of Banba that are unique to this movie.
In this movie, because Kou has to move alone, there are many scenes where Melto, Asuna, Towa and Banba are working together. Melto and Asuna whom Kou usually works together with, are trying their best until Kou returns. Their growth and how they build their bond are presented intriguingly in this movie. I myself dedicatedly played Banba as the one who supports and watches over them. Though, Banba only gets a little chance to act between intervals (laughs). I realized the hard feeling when my role is not supposed to stand out, instead of being at front and doing something. Sentai usually consists 5 warriors. With Kanaro, we become 6 members. Naturally, it’s not good to make only one person speak lines while the others are only watching from behind. Even though I still don’t know how, I want to make everyone comment on a silent scene, that “It should be Banba who speaks there.” From now on too, I always look forward to your support for Banba and Ryusoulger!

Title: What We Lack Part 19 Pairing:  Kacchako, Deku/Melissa, Todomomo Rating: T Word Count: 4,236 Read on AO3 Summary:
Quirkless.
They're the last people anyone expects to have a child without a quirk.
Neither of them can fully wrap their heads around it, but Ochako knows Katsuki is struggling far more than her.
Thank you to @its-love-u-asshole and @amaisenshi for reading this over and letting me freak out always.
The door echoed loudly in the living room when Shouto stepped back into his house and Momo's chair scraped across the floor of the kitchen. "Shouto," she gasped, rushing towards him as she cupped at his cheeks. "Are you okay?"
He glanced at her worried eyes, unsure of how to answer the question, so instead, he peered over her shoulder, looking at the empty table. "Did Yuuta go back to the dorms?"
"M... mhm..." she whispered.
"I see," he said, unable to move. What was he supposed to tell her? He couldn't protect Arata from the man who had caused him so much pain... had caused her so much pain. And really he was just a failure of a parent.
"Shouto..." she whispered. "Talk to me. Whatever you're thinking, you know you can tell me."
They had always been able to tell each other everything. When he wanted to hide his emotions away from everyone, Momo had always been able to pull him from his shell... So why was it so difficult for him to speak out loud now?
"I..."
Her fingers brushed through his hair and she stood on her toes to press her lips to his. "No matter what you say, I'm on your side."
Would she be? Would she truly be okay with him basically allowing their son to train with Endeavor?
He swallowed and pulled away from her, making his way to sit on the couch. He collapsed down, burying his head in his hands and shook his head.
"I don't know what else I can possibly do," he said, glancing away from her.
Her lips tightened and she slowly walked towards the couch, taking a seat next to him. "Shouto... what happened?"
He curled his hand over the edge of the couch, squeezing hard into the cushion. He couldn't hide this from her. "I went to his house."
"I assumed," she said.
"I spoke to him about training with Arata," he continued. "I asked him to leave him alone and..." Shouto trailed off.
"Is he using him? Did he hurt him? Was it him that somehow convinced Arata to train with him instead of us-"
"No," Shouto muttered, cutting her off. "It's... all Arata. Arata went to him. Just as he said."
"And your father isn't... manipulating him into this?" Momo asked softly. There was a small part of Shouto that wished that were the case. Then he could justify forbidding Arata from going to see the man.
But no. His father was right.
And that was the worst part of all of this to swallow.
"No," Shouto said quietly. "He claims he's just pushing him... he told me... by me trying to stop him, I wasn't any better of a father than he was."
"What?!" Momo gasped. She lifted her hand to Shouto's chin, turning his face towards her. "Todoroki Shouto, your father wishes he was half the father you are."
Wrapping his fingers around Momo's, he sighed. "Is he really wrong?"
"Of course he is-"
"I'm trying to force Arata... I'm trying to control what he does when my father, as much as I hate to admit it, hasn't technically done... anything wrong," Shouto muttered.
"No, you're not trying to control him. You're trying to protect him-" Momo argued but Shouto shook his head.
"No... It's really not any different. I just think about how horrible that man was to me and how awful he was about training. I think about Arata training with him and how he must be pushing him to all sorts of limits and I just want him to stop. But I can't... I can't stop him. If this is what he wants, who am I... to deny him that..."
"You're his father. You know so much more about your father than Arata does. Even if he's not hurting him now, who is to say he won't eventually!" Momo argued. She wrapped her hand around his, squeezing it gently. "I love you, Shouto. You've been nothing but a wonderful father to these boys. I understand you don't want to push your opinions or thoughts on them... but it's okay to protect them sometimes... that's our job as parents."
Shouto sighed, shaking his head. "Unless my father physically harms him... Arata needs to figure this out on his own."
"Still... it doesn't sit right with me." She stood up and began to pace around the room. "After everything Endeavor has done to you... and to me and to the boys even... I just... I can't imagine this going well. I don't want to wait for him to come to us crying..." she whispered. "I want to talk to him."
Shouto pushed himself off of the couch, standing next to her. "Maybe you'll get through to him when I won't. If I talk to him, he'll assume I'm being biased."
"Perhaps," she whispered.
Shouto sighed, rubbing at his eyes. He made his way to the kitchen, pulling a cup down from the cabinet. He was exhausted and he just wanted Arata to realize how foolish he was being. He swallowed, pouring water for himself as he chugged it down.
There was a time when Arata was so small and eager. He would constantly show off the various types of crystals he could make. Shouto wished he could pinpoint when the excitement the young boy held turned into anger and frustration. Maybe then he could better help to understand his son...
"Shouto..." Momo began, slowly approaching him. "Are you okay?"
He curled his fist against the table. Momo was such a worrier when it came to their children and she was concerned for him for some unknown reason. He shook his head. "I just don't understand... why he would choose my father over... us..."
"Maybe one day he'll explain it to us... but I can promise you... I won't let that man hurt our son the way he hurt you," Momo said, taking Shouto's hand and squeezing it.
"No... I won't let him do that either. I won't let my father manipulate this situation to his will. I promise." He leaned down and pressed his lips to Momo's forehead. "I will protect our sons, no matter what."
"Me too," she whispered. "We'll have to be careful and monitor him from here on out."
Shouto nodded. As much as he didn't want to pressure Arata into anything, he wouldn't let his father get away with hurting anyone else in his life.
~~
Taking his seat in class, Yuuta tried to focus, but after the disaster dinner last night, he couldn't bring himself to pay attention. Class was important right now too, the sports festival was coming up this weekend and the last thing Yuuta wanted to do was lose focus now. It was difficult, with Arata being so upset and him blurting out his feelings for Shouhei to his parents... really everything felt like a little bit of a mess.
"Okay, spill it," Shouhei said, turning around at lunch to tap on Yuuta's desk.
"Spill... what?" Yuuta squeaked, his voice already giving him away.
Shouhei rolled his eyes. "Yuu... I'm not stupid. I think I can tell when something is wrong with you."
Yuuta's cheeks immediately flushed.
"Dinner last night was a disaster," he muttered, not wanting any of their other classmates to hear.
"You wanna go up to the roof?" Shouhei asked, gesturing towards the door. "We can eat lunch up there."
"Yeah," Yuuta nodded, pushing away from his desk.
Shouhei wrapped his hand around Yuuta's, pulling him towards the exit of the classroom. Shouhei was so confident and uncaring, Yuuta's cheeks flushing as they held hands all the way up to the roof. The brown-haired boy walked with such conviction, looking ahead to get to the roof so they could talk.
Yuuta kept glancing around at all the people staring at them. Or maybe they weren't staring, maybe they were just looking in their general direction? It was hard to tell, but Yuuta needed to stop his thoughts from spiraling out of control... always a difficult thing, especially when every weird look felt like it was aimed directly at him.
There were sure to be some murmurs, but Yuuta was mostly happy they had figured things out for themselves, and told their parents.
Well... Yuuta had told. He didn't know if Shouhei actually had.
"So," Shouhei said, swinging the door to the roof open, "tell me about this dinner of yours!"
"Ugh..." Yuuta muttered. "It's... Arata."
Sighing, Shouhei plopped to the ground and pulled out his lunch. "Again?"
"Y-yeah..."
"What happened now?" Shouhei said, shoving rice into his mouth.
"Well, he's been training with our grandfather."
"Endeavor?! Really?!" Shouhei practically choked.
"Well yeah, but you know we never see him. Dad hates him. For good reason too, I don't blame him," Yuuta sighed. "So I don't really know why Arata chose to train with him."
"Cause he's strong as hell!" Shouhei laughed. "Your brother is so fuckin' desperate to be better than me and you and everyone else. He's like... worse than my Dad about being number one."
Yuuta twisted his lips. "Shou-kun... no one is as bad as your dad."
"Okay, okay," Shouhei said, waving his arms back and forth. "Maybe not that bad, but he is insanely focused. So I guess it makes sense he would choose Endeavor, your parents aren't as intense in that way..."
"Maybe... I know he's really stressed about the sports festival... I think he wants to win it."
"Hah! Like I'd let him do that," Shouhei snorted.
"Ugh... I really don't want to deal with him if he loses," Yuuta sighed.
"So you just going to let him win?" Shouhei asked, raising his eyebrow.
"No! Of course not!" Yuuta said, shaking his head. "I just... at dinner last night... he finally told Dad and they got into a huge argument. Arata just left and Dad... I'm pretty sure he went to Grandfather's house. I'm pretty sure it's all my fault."
"Did you do that thing where you blurted out the secret you're trying really hard to hold in?" Shouhei smirked.
"Not exactly," Yuuta muttered. "I blurted out the fact that me and you are dating and Mom and Dad were really excited and for some reason that really upset Arata and he stormed away and then him and Dad fought." Yuuta puffed out his lips, the thoughts rushing through his brain. "I have no idea what's going to happen."
"So you told your parents about us?" Shouhei asked. Of course he would hone in on that part of the story.
"Yeah," Yuuta chuckled, not minding the subject change. "My Mom was so happy. I'm pretty sure she's going to scream to your mom once you tell her."
"Oh, I told my parents this weekend too. Dad was... shockingly not surprised. I think he was more upset he would potentially have to spend time with your dad more. Mom was excited and I’m sure she’s gonna call yours," Shouhei said.
Yuuta couldn't contain his laughter. "I guess we were worried for nothing."
"Yeah, after the fact, it seems silly to have thought any of them would've cared," Shouhei scoffed, laying down on the ground.
Yuuta peered over him. "I'm happy we told them though. It makes me feel less nervous about one thing at the very least."
Shouhei brought his hand up to Yuuta's head and stroked his fingers through the black and white locks. He pulled him down into a kiss, gently brushing their lips together. Shouhei always suckled on Yuuta's lower lip, holding him in place a moment longer. It made Yuuta's stomach flip flop. "You got nothing to be worried about, Yuu," Shouhei whispered. "You're gonna be kick ass."
A small huff of air left his lips. "Thanks, Shou-kun."
"I'm gonna kick both you and your brother's asses at the sports fest," he smirked and Yuuta let out a long laugh, rolling his eyes as he lay down next to him.
"Whatever you say, Shou-kun," he smirked, kissing his cheek. There was a small part of him that hoped Shouhei won, just to show Arata it wouldn't matter... and of course then maybe Yuuta would only have to fight one of them...
It was only a few days away and he still felt so massively unprepared.
~~
A hand snaked into Arata's hair, the thick fingers curling into a fist as it yanked his head back and slammed his face down into the ground. He winced, the pressure from Enji's hand impossible to fight against.
"G-Grandfather... please..."
He tried to ignore how violent the man could get when Arata didn't perfectly execute the moves Enji called for. It didn't matter if it hurt or he struggled, it was going to make him stronger.
"You're weak, Arata," he snarled. "The sports festival is barely a few days away. What do you expect to happen? Do you expect to win as you are now?"
"I'm gonna try my damn best-"
"Trying isn't good enough," Enji hissed, loosening up on his grip as he stepped over his grandson. "I saw your father the other day," he said.
"Y-You did?" Arata stammered, wiping the small amount of blood from his lip.
"Mhm. He knows you're training with me and he's not happy about it. I was surprised to see you here today," Enji said.
"...I'm not going to give up on this just because of my father," Arata spat, his body trembling. He was freezing, having used up so much body heat... and he wished his grandfather could use his fire to help him, but he knew that would be seen as weak.
Swallowing, Arata pushed himself up, his arms trembling. He had to make more fire crystals, he had to be able to make them rapidly in battle, especially against someone like Shouhei, who could move as many inanimate objects as he pleased, as long as he touched them.
"So your father doesn't want you to stop?"
Admittedly, Arata hadn't talked to his father since the dinner a few nights ago. They were going to come to the sports festival... and then he would show them how useful Enji's training had been.
"Mm... he does. But he can't stop me!"
"He can, but he won't. Shouto is weak, weaker than you, Arata," Enji said.
Arata swallowed, glancing up at Enji’s tall form, looking down on him. Another shiver ran down his spine and Arata was certain that had nothing to do with his body heat.
He'd never viewed his own father as weak. Shouto was hard working and incredibly talented with his quirk. He was a hero constantly being praised, and he'd even made the number one spot a few times.
Of course, Arata didn't view Enji as horrible as Shouto made him out to be so... maybe this was Enji's weird form of payback. He viewed Shouto as weak since he didn't fully follow Enji's training.
"My... dad isn't weak-"
"He is!" Enji's voice boomed. "He's weak because he cares too much for other people. He cares about that woman of his-"
"My mother?" Arata frowned.
"Yes. Your mother is why you have such a difficult time with your quirk. You inherited that weakness from her."
"My mother isn't weak-"
 Slap!
The sound resonated in the room as Enji slapped his hand against Arata's cheek.
"Listen to me. Your parents... they do not know how to be real heroes. Nowadays, the system is a farce," Enji scoffed.
Swallowing, Arata cupped at his cheek. Enji was being so damn aggressive today. "Yes... Grandfather," Arata whispered.
"The sports festival is this weekend. What are you goals?" Enji asked, leaning towards Arata who planted his feet firmly against the ground, not wanting to seem any weaker than Enji already thought him to be.
"I'm going to beat Yuuta," he growled. "And Shouhei."
"So you've made this personal?"
"I-I mean I plan to win the whole thing but... I want to prove I can do just as well as Yuuta."
Enji sighed. "You can't focus on your brother. I know. I know what it's like to focus on one person, how tempting it is, but you have to understand that never works," he said. "It will only slow you down. Focus on winning, on making crystals rapidly and using them properly against your opponents. Have you been studying the quirks from the others in your class at your school?"
Arata nodded quickly. "Of course, I've been watching them during training."
"How is your body temperature?" Enji asked, narrowing his eyes at the boy.
"It... feels low," he admitted.
"Regulate," Endeavor demanded. "The second you feel cold, you have to battle against it."
Arata swallowed. The problem was, it always felt like he was going to pass out if he battled against the cold too hard. "Okay," he nodded anyway, not wanting to go against Enji. It would just get his face slammed to the ground again.
"Once you can get your heat back up, we'll continue," Enji said. "Try not to waste more time. Remember you came to me to train and the sports festival is just around the corner. I can keep training you, but this will be your first moment in the public eye. You’re a Todoroki. You're a legacy hero, and both you and your brother will be watched very closely. This could be the start of a very promising career, if you perform well. You could be offered many internship deals. Of course you could use the help of myself and your parents, but I believe you would prefer to get it on your own merit."
Swallowing, Arata nodded quickly.
"Good. Then start running laps," Enji instructed. "Get your body heat up."
"Right," he said, pushing himself up slowly to head to the backyard where he could get run more freely.
Arata couldn't help but feel an immense amount of pressure weighing down on his chest, and his entire body.
He had to succeed.
~~
There was a knock on Sayuri's door and it made her jump. She didn't know why she was so jumpy lately, but she shook it off, closing her laptop partially. "It's open."
Ochako peeked her head in, smiling. "Hey sweetheart, it's just me!"
"Hey Mom," Sayuri said, leaning against her chair. She knew her mother was worried about her, but lately she had mostly talked to her father. Well, that usually meant her mother knew she was fine, since her parents couldn't seem to keep a damn thing from each other. Their goddamn honesty was honestly annoying.
She just didn't really know how to talk to anyone about her frustrations.
"I wanted to see if you... were doing okay?" Ochako asked, slowly making her way over to Sayuri's bed. She took a seat on the edge, smiling at the girl sitting at the desk.
"Yup, doing fine," she shrugged.
"Well, that's good to hear," Ochako smiled, but Sayuri could see her mom was disappointed she didn't seem to be ready to talk about anything.
"Yup. Just workin' on some homework."
"Anything exciting?" Ochako asked.
Sayuri let out a soft sigh. "Mom, I know you're in here to ask me something, you have a weird look on your face."
Ochako sighed. "Nothing gets past you, huh?" She pushed herself off of the bed and approached her desk chair. "I wanted to talk to you about this weekend."
"This weekend?" Sayuri asked tilting her head. As far as she knew, nothing was going on...
"Mhm. It's the sports festival and the school called to ask us how many tickets we wanted. Your father and I are going but... you are by no means obligated to come with us, okay?" Ochako said slowly, as if each word was pushing down on fragile eggshells harder and harder.
Sayuri swallowed. Did she want to go? Of course she did. It was tradition to watch it every year and actually getting to see it in person sounded incredible! Plus her brother was going to be in it so obviously that was something she was excited for.
And yet the idea of watching sounded painful; like her heart was twisting from the inside out.
"I..." she trailed off, glancing to her desk as she twisted her lips. "I'll come. No yeah, I'll... I'll... come. I wanna see Shou suck ass."
Ochako snorted, rolling her eyes. "I really hope that's not what happens."
"Yeah, yeah," Sayuri said, turning back to her desk. She couldn't look at her mom, not when her heart was trembling so hard in her chest.
"Really? Are you sure you're okay with coming? I don't want you to feel forced," Ochako said, gently running her fingers over one her blonde pigtails.
Sayuri sighed. "Yes. I'm okay. Mom, I'm not going to break watching people use their quirks."
"I know honey, but you've seemed so frustrated lately-"
Slamming her fist down against her desk, she watched her mother jump. "I'm fine, Mom!" she snapped. "I-I want to go. I wanna see it in person at least once.. and..." she trailed off, hating the way the tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
"Sayuri..." Ochako said, kneeling down in front of her. "It doesn't make you weak if you feel you can't handle it. I know this has been hard on you and your father and I have been all worried about Shou moving and starting at U.A. I just wanted to ask-"
"I-I want to go!" she sniffled, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I do! It... it just sucks... to know you'll never get to come watch me there," she whispered.
Ochako cupped at her cheeks, gently brushing her thumbs over her tears. "Oh baby girl... you know your father and I are going to watch you do other amazing things. The sports festival is fun, but it's not everything. You'll be wow-ing the world in other ways. I just know it. You are your father's daughter after all," she winked.
"How can you say that when Dad has one of the strongest quirks!" she whimpered. "It just... It just doesn't seem fair! I know I keep complaining about this and I'm so fucking sick of it! I'm tired of wanting a quirk and feeling like it's unfair that I don't have one. I'm just tired of feeling this way," she yelled. "I get reminded of it all the damn time and I can't take it anymore."
Ochako immediately stood up, wrapping her arms around her daughter. She knew she couldn't cry with her; this wasn't the time. She pulled in a deep breath. "It's okay..." she said softly. "This is why I asked. I didn't want you feeling miserable if you came."
"I-I wanna come..." she mumbled, pressing her face against her mother's shoulder. "I just wish I didn't have to feel this way."
"I wish I could help you feel okay," Ochako said. "I know that doesn't sound helpful, and it's not like I can possibly understand everything you're feeling, but your father and I are here to support you every step of the way. Until you know exactly what your place in this world is, you might... have to deal with this for a bit. But no one wants you to grin and bear it. if you need to scream, scream. If you need to cry, cry."
Sayuri sniffed and nodded. "It just... it sucks."
"It does," Ochako chuckled. "It really does. If I could give you my quirk, I would in a heartbeat. I hate that I can't."
"It's okay... some days I think about how cool it'll be to help Melissa and work with her and Kazu. And some days I wonder if the world just wants to torture me and throw every cool quirk I don't have in my face," Sayuri muttered.
Ochako smoothed the soft bangs which curled over her forehead to the side. "That's normal. When I was your age, I used to wonder if I even had what it took to be a hero."
"Yeah right," Sayuri snorted, rolling her eyes.
"It's true! I was so worried about money and wondering if I could really even fight with my quirk. Some days I felt like I could conquer the world and some days I thought for sure I was going to fail. We all have our ups and downs. Even now I sometimes expect to make some sort of stupid mistake and end my career."
Sayuri chuckled. "I doubt that you'll make a mistake now Mom. You're one of the top ten heroes."
Leaning forward, Ochako kissed her forehead. "Even heroes make mistakes."
"Yeah, I know," Sayuri sighed. "I really do... wanna go."
"I know you do," Ochako said. "And you know what? If while you're there you need to scream or cry, I'll be right there, to help you with whatever you need."
Sayuri cracked a small smile. It didn't make it much better, but it did help a little. "Thanks Mom. I'm... looking forward to it."
"Good," Ochako smiled.
Sayuri wasn't sure how much of her statement was the truth, but the more she thought about it and said it, the more true it would become, and maybe she could start to let go of feeling like something was missing from her life.

Cure March 2019 Show (A9) x Issei (BugLug) Interview
Tumblr media
A9 and BugLug have announced they will hold a nationwide 2-man tour. The tour title is "Noroshi -TOO FAST TO LIVE TOO YOUNG TO DIE-"!! The front cover feature of the first Cure publication of 2019 is a special photoshoot with the vocalists Show and Issei. They will visit a total of 6 cities, starting on March 21 in Fukuoka, then Osaka, Nagoya, Sendai, Sapporo, and Tokyo. Do not miss this big event.
The two bands played together at "Bug Summit" in August last year, but when did you first personally meet each other?
Issei: It was in 2016.
Show: Yes. In 2016 there were talks of doing a 2-man tour together. So the two of us had a meeting to decide on a title, as the band representatives.
What were the sequence of events leading up to doing a 2-man tour?
Show: I originally had this image of BugLug that they were a stylish and good band, and I think at the time they were promoting "Saru". In addition to the feeling that they were different from the rest, even among my band members we talked about them, like "BugLug are pretty awesome" and "I'd like to play with them". Our staff at the time had connections to BugLug's company, and they said "We are more than happy to do it".
Issei: I was really glad when I heard about it. Of course, I had known about the band A9 from a long time ago. I like their songs so I listened to it a lot, and their looks are just plain freaking cool. When I first saw them, my first impression was "What's with their band? They're awesome. They're all charismatic".
I mean, from Issei's point of view, they were a band that were featured in magazines before you had started your band.
Issei: Yes. I had strong feelings of wanting to be successful like them, and after all, people want to play with the bands they like, right? And that's exactly why I thought that we could find value in touring together.
Show: So as we continued talks about the tour, in May, Issei got into an accident1......
Issei: I screwed it up. Despite the offer, we ended up having to forgo it. That's why when we met again at Bug Summit, I felt very apologetic.
Show: When I saw Issei, I thought "Oh, he's able to bleach his hair now!".
Issei: Hahaha! (laughs)
Show: No, but our guitarist (Tora) recently fell into bad health, so I worry, like "What are his limits?". That's why we couldn't send them the offer of a 2-man tour. But I was glad since it seems like the feeling of us wanting to do it got through to the staff we have in common.
Issei: Yes. Now, I thought once again that "I want to do this no matter what". Even after 3 years, that passion never died out.
So it's a 2-man tour that came true after 3 years. By the way, when it was announced that this tour would be happening there was a line in a news article that said both bands "started activities pretty much at the same time". But this year is A9's 15th year anniversary, and BugLug's 10th year anniversary, right?
Issei: Our first live was at the beginning of 2010, so if you count it starting from there, it's our 9th year.
Show: But the band I was in before A9 and the band BugLug’s guitarists and bassist was in before BugLug started pretty much at the same time, and we often played together. We also have this connection where we have a member in our bands that used to be a roadie for Baroque. That's why they don't really feel like our juniors.
So you were acquainted with Kazuki, Yuu and Tsubame from a long time ago?
Show: Well, Tsubame is sociable, so whenever we played together, he would come and talk to us quite often, but it's only recently that I've come to talk to Yuu a lot. Yuu is now addicted to this game I used to be addicted to a while ago, so I thought it would be nice if we could play together.
Issei: We have quite a lot in common other than music.
For example?
Show: For example, both Issei and I are in charge of artwork in our bands. Both of our image resources aren't Visual-kei, but high fashion, paintings, and contemporary art. I like combining the good qualities of such things with the Visual-kei that our seniors have built up, so I am quite critical of things that are like a rehash of past works. But there are times when I think "That's cool" about BugLug. Sometimes I get annoyed, like "Ah, they outdid us".
Issei: Sorry (laughs).
Show: That's the kind of image I had of them before meeting them, and even after talking to them, I can sympathize with the borderless thing they do. However, I liked to interpret art in an animated way to change the format and bring it into Visual-kei, but Issei brings the artwork as it is into Visual-kei.
Issei: That's right.
Show: That is quite a hardline approach. Unlike me, he doesn't add in arranged elements from the grey zone similar to Visual-kei, like anime or cosplay. To keep on trying to strongly bring about a chemical reaction like that requires a lot of courage. I think that is a good stance. And because I sympathise with this attitude despite not even talking to him that much, I feel that we are connected in a good way. In actuality, since this 2-man tour was decided, I've only properly talked to him at one meeting and during the joint photoshoot.
By the way, was the tour title "Noroshi2" the one that was decided back in 2016?
Issei: No. Although we had considered it, we hadn't reached a decision on it. But from the beginning, there was this feeling that if these two bands did something together, perhaps something new would come out from it, so the title was suggested again. On top of that, Show added "TOO FAST TO LIVE TOO YOUNG TO DIE", so it's no mistaking that this is a title the two bands decided on. I think that the real thrill of the this tour will be the bands doing the tour with those words in mind.
Show: The phrase "TOO FAST~" is often used in punk rock, but considering the incident with Issei, the phrase really hits you hard. It's about the the gratitude of merely being able to be in a band, or rather, even if we are living recklessly, it would be better to do what you want to do. I think that both bands have these feelings.
Issei: We do. I feel it quite a lot.
I see. Was the group artist photo artwork done together?
Issei: That's right. We had many ideas at the meeting, and from that, Show followed up with "red".
Show: I photoshopped the photo so it was like a red smoke signal had been fired, and from within that, the ten of us were there! If a person who didn't know us looked at it, they wouldn't be able to tell who is in A9 and who is in BugLug. The one who has the strongest BugLug feeling about him is Hiroto though (laughs).
Issei: Yeah, he does (laughs).
BugLug's outfits are more like suits, and Hiroto's outfit is really similar to that.
Show: And since both Kazuki and Hiroto hang out with Kei (Baroque), they bring out the stoles. I wonder if this is what you cal Kei-ism (laughs).
Issei: During the photoshoot, Show talked to me quite a lot...... I didn't think that Show was such a friendly person. At first I imagined that perhaps he was a prickly person or a scary person, but he talked to me a lot. He is easy to talk to, so I was really glad!
Show: It's not like I am like this with everyone, but even with our juniors, if there is something to get excited over, I want to take that in and talk to them. To be honest, even at 2-man tours, there are also cases where you can't be frank with each other right from the start, so in that respect, I feel quite close to BugLug.
Issei: That really is important, after all.
Well, you did do a photoshoot together, after all. Even with promotion, normally they just place the two separate artist photos next to each other.
Issei: I don't really like that. Since you are playing together, I want to do the photos and promotion from scratch. I think if you don't show the attitude that "these two bands are doing an event together", then it's boring.
So to you, Issei, having a photoshoot with all ten members was a must for you.
Issei: That's right. For me, I'm really glad to be able to do an event with A9, so I want people to learn about us. For example, even to people who aren't interested, I want them to become interested in us using a variety of ways, so I want to take a group photo. Isn't it a waste if we just do a live show together and then that's it? In that respect, the way A9 makes their lives is really interesting. Even at their solo shows, their ideas are really detailed.
Show: Well, there was a period where we had a routine of releasing an album and then going on a one-man tour. To a certain extent, that is something rock bands do, but looking back on that, there were parts that we had stopped thinking about. That's why lately, we have come to perceive A9 as one concept, one piece of intellectual property, and think about how to make use of that. So that's how we come up with ideas like "Do people want to see an A9 live with only headbanging songs?" or "Do people want to see us playing with an orchestra?". That's why with this 2-man tour, we also want our fans to see BugLug, with whom we can sympathize with. So it's like come and see this "smoke signal" attraction that has our seal of approval!
So it's a bit different from the stance of going all out and trying to steal each other's fans.
Show: A band won't be able to last just by doing that.
Issei: I get that. In the past, I used to value that kind of attitude and my stance was to sink my teeth into their other band, but as expected, your approach to things change. This 2-man tour is something that we can't do by ourselves, and can only happen if we do it together, right? Also, because they are around, we are here, so it's no good if we just do this by ourselves, and there is no meaning if A9 just do it by themselves. The ideal is for both bands to do this together.
So what about the other band do you want your fans to see?
Issei: The people who come to shows in the Visual-kei scene just stand their in a daze when it's a song they don't know. It's a waste if they just stand there like a stone statue. So I want our fans to groove along to A9's songs! Because there are a lot of fun songs!
It's certainly true that A9 songs are easy to groove along to. Or rather, the songs are suitable for your body to naturally move along to. What do you want A9 fans to pay attention to in BugLug, Show?
Show: Isn't there a beauty of form in Visual-kei that our seniors have built up? Where they establish the mood, hype you up, and then it goes into the chorus? If the song itself isn't good, it's hard to deviate from that to capture Visual-kei fans with purely melodious songs or hard rock songs. I want our fans to get the essence of what is good about those songs. Also, even if they are watching live shows or video footage, you can see the band doing their best if you open your mind. That is something we really see as important, and I feel that in that respect, the roots of both bands are the same. So I want our fans to open their minds and experience their live stage.
We tend to think of a band doing their best as something that is only obvious......
Show: That's not necessarily the case. How should I put it? There are many bands that do things differently. To open your mind and lay everything bare is, to a certain extent, the way punk bands do it. But that is what I am after.
Issei: I understand.
That might be what you two, and the two bands have in common. By the way, is there something that you think of the other, or would like to ask of the other as a vocalist or lyricist?
Show: In general, the song comes first, right? Before writing the lyrics.
Issei: It depends on the situation. There are times when the lyrics come first. I always write down what I am thinking or feeling, so there are times when I think "Oh, I have to write a song that suits these lyrics". There are also times where I get the lyrics from the mood of the song, like "This song is really occult!". At the same time, there is also the artwork, so the image just bursts out into different directions, and I naturally get into the zone.
Show: So you are quite like an artist, where it's quite a spontaneous style. For me, I'm the opposite, and it starts with my own ego, saying "I want to express this!", for better or for worse. I love my fellow members, so I'm the type to focus on just how well I can express the kind of world that the members want to express to the people listening through a good performance. So first of all, I listen to the song over and over. From there, I interpret the scenery I get from the song, and consider how I can overlay that on the lives of the listeners. That's why I watch lots of movies and read lots of novels, and try to get input of the "true essence of the work". For example, in love stories, isn't it only emotional because they overcome obstacles, and there are people who get hurt and sad, but don't want to have people say to them "Chin up"? I capture that essence with my own interpretation and overlay that onto the member's songs. So I might be more like a kind of procedural lyricist. But I am sure to make it lyrics where you can picture the scenery. For example, I tend to like the lyrics of HYDE and so on.
To compare it to paintings, Show is more like the scenic painting type, and Issei is more like a Picasso or Dali. So let's have a question from Issei.
Issei: In your everyday life, what do you do that makes you think "Whoa, this is amazing!"? I mean apart from doing a live show or completing a CD.
Show: Recently, when I've been working out and drink a protein shake, I feel the most happy (laughs). But as I'm busy, just like I said before, I am proactively trying to get some input. Recently, I went to a solo photo exhibition of an acquaintance who had even won a prize for it, and it was really amazing! That person's main job is a hairdresser, but I told them "Quit your job and become a cameraman" (laughs). When I have even a little bit of free time, I do my best to try and go to interesting places. In the past, I was a hardcore gamer and never left the house....... Well, it's certainly true that games foster your imagination. For example, even if you look up at the sky in Tokyo, you can't see the stars, but in games, you can see the starry sky any time you want, the kind that I saw as a kid in Nagano.
Issei: Because you're in the world of virtual reality.
Show: Right. But at those moments when you think "I want to hone my sensibilities", it's different from going proactively going out there and getting it yourself. Lately, I've come to think that the action of moving on your own volition of wanting to hone your sensibilities for the sake of art is really important.
By the way, what kind of moments make you think "This is awesome", Issei?
Issei: There are plenty. Of course going to Disneyland, and as always, I like going to temples. Recently, I've gotten really addicted to watching pro-wrestling. I've always liked it, but when I actually went to a match for the first time in 10 years, I was like "It's crazy". The male pride and passionate souls and whatever are charming, but I find the strong entertainment value of it interesting. It has "showmanship" elements to it, and there are many things I can learn from it. Also, recently, I've been enjoying watching athletics, and I really do enjoy just about anything. Because I sink my teeth into whatever it is I find interesting.
Show: Issei's sensibilities is like that of Grimms' Fairy Tales. It's like a fairy tale, but there are scary elements, and in a good way, it's kitsch...... Since he has this twisted cute feeling, I think I'll observe him to see where he gets his input from. On this tour.
Since it seems like somehow, these two bands have an affinity, I'm sure the fans must have also been happy when this tour was announced.
Issei: Yes, they were really happy.
Show: Even already on Twitter, fans have sent me a list of BugLug song titles that they want us to sing during the all-member session. Like "Guillotine", "Saru", "Melancholic Candy", or "Grazie!!".
Issei: Hahaha! How terrifying (laughs).
Well, a practical problem is will there be an all-member session?
Show: As of now, we haven't announced anything, but...... it is a good opportunity. Here I will just say "Please look forward to it".
Issei: Well, just like BugLug lives, it's going to be a live in an enjoyable space, and I think people are going to see a different kind of BugLug they've not seen before. So I definitely do want fans to come see us, and I also want non-fans to come see us. No matter who comes to see us, you will definitely leave with a smile on your face!
Show: Because our stance is rather than saying it's a battle between A9 and BugLug, together, A9 and BugLug have prepared a place and opportunity to make you happy. So please look forward to it.
1 Issei suffered from head injuries after falling down stairs.
2 "Noroshi" means "smoke signal".

If only... | Fanfiction
Hello, everyone~
This is a short story about Odasaku and Dazai in an alternate universe where Odasaku managed to leave the Port Mafia behind and become a writer.
Hope you'll enjoy reading!
***
The constant clacking of a computer keyboard resounded in the dimly lit room. Swiftly, fingers darted over the letters, producing one word after another, forming sentence after sentence, and thus creating a little story. Without taking a break, the blank screen was quickly being filled with words until a knocking sound could be heard and the fingers promptly stopped in their tracks.
Surprised, Oda Sakunosuke turned around in his chair and blinked several times as his blue orbs slowly accommodated to the dim light, having focused on the light screen for a very long time. He stared at the door and stood up from his chair when the knocking repeated, this time more vigorously.
Taking one step after another, Oda carefully approached the other side of his little apartment, stopping right before the door from where the knocking sound came. Closing one eye, he looked through the peephole with his other, sighing in relief when he recognized a familiar figure. The redhead immediately unlatched the lock before allowing the door to swing open.
“Ah, Odasaku! Took you long enough!”
A brunette man with a wide grin plastered over his face greeted him with a casual wave of his hand. Dazai Osamu, Oda’s best friend.
Even though his facial features hardly changed, Oda blinked once again, clearly caught off guard by the sudden visit of his friend. Without waiting for him to respond, Dazai worked himself past Oda in a swift motion into the apartment, turning his head into every direction with an astonished gaze as soon as he was in the middle of the room.
“Odasaku, I knew you’re modest but I still can’t believe this little room does it for you!”
“Why not?” He replied after locking the door again. “It’s comfortable. And it is perfect for writing.”
At this, the bandaged man turned around to look at Oda, a tranquil smile on his face.
“You really made it as a writer, huh?”
“Yeah.”
For a short moment, Oda closed his eyes, reminiscing about the past several years. Somehow, he managed to leave the Port Mafia without being chased as a traitor since Mori accepted his resignation after having been convinced by Dazai. He was finally able to put his past behind him, to move on and start a new life as a writer, as a person who did not take life but write about life.
A person who did not take someone’s breath away, but breathe life into people who would else only consist of letters.
The light sound of a chuckle brought him back into reality as he opened his eyes again to look at Dazai, his shoulders visibly shaking from laughter. As soon as the brunette calmed down, he exhaled before speaking up again, his mahogany orbs seemingly staring into the distance, as if seeing something nobody else could.
“I’m glad.”
There were rare moments where Dazai could be seen smiling wholeheartedly. Most of the time, he did to cover up his real condition, not that Oda wouldn’t notice. He knew his friend too well. But right now, the smile on Dazai Osamu’s face could be described as closest to a genuine smile. Before the redhead could say anything, the brunette turned around to inspect what was written on the screen of the computer. Immediately, Oda’s heart skipped a beat. He may be a calm person but when it came to his writings, he was overly sensitive.
“Hey! Dazai, wait—”
“Odasaku, I’ve already read some of your novels, but reading the rough drafts is even more exciting!”
The taller man stood right behind Dazai who nonchalantly read through the draft Oda had been currently working on before having been interrupted by Dazai. He tried to shove the brunette away in a futile attempt, since Dazai wouldn’t budge by even a millimeter. Sighing, he gave up and waited until his friend finished reading.
“It’s not finished,” the bandaged man mumbled under his breath.
“How come?” Oda replied sarcastically to which Dazai started laughing again, causing him to jolt slightly in place.
“Since when have you become sarcastic?”
“I don’t know.”
A few seconds of silence passed between them. Staring at Dazai’s back, Oda noticed just how much he really had missed his friend. It wasn’t that he hadn’t seen Dazai for years, Dazai actually managed to visit him from time to time. But it was still a lot less frequent than before.
Suddenly, Dazai’s head jerked upwards before turning back to Oda.
“Oh, right, I’m supposed to say hello from Ango.”
Instantly, Oda raised a brow. He still kept close contact with Ango since he was actually the person who managed to get Oda’s novels printed. But they could rarely see each other, as Ango still needed to do his dangerous job as a Port Mafia informant.
“He’s currently working on some strange deals or something. But he said he would be back in a few months or so. So, you have enough time to get your novel done!” Dazai chimed cheerfully, turning back towards the computer, the unfinished story waiting to be completed.
“That’s good, then.”
“Ah, before I forget!” He exclaimed, facing Oda with a bright smile. “How are the kids?”
Immediately, a soft smile formed on the readhead’s face, remembering the grinning faces of the five orphans he had helped raising for several years. Closing his eyes, he answered.
“They’re fine. They’re in middle school now, everyone does great, though they tend to cause trouble sometimes. Katsumi is in the baseball team, the best pitcher their school has seen for two decades. Nobody can throw the ball the way he does. Until now, nobody was able to catch any of his throwing attempts. Yuu and Shinji love cooking. It’s crazy, considering all the mess they’ve created in the kitchen of the curry shop in the past. I’ve tried their rice curry. It’s amazing.”
Oda couldn’t suppress a chuckle. His blue orbs opened, but he didn’t even register his surroundings, instead looking into the far distance, seeing the five kids enjoying their time in school.
“Sakura is in the art club. It’s unbelievable how good she is with paintbrushes. Did I tell you? She is bi-manual. Paints with both of her hands at the same time, and her coloring is astounding. One could assume the paintings she created were real.”
“And Kousuke?” Dazai asked, his eyes closed and a fond smile on his lips.
“Believe it or not, but he told me he wants to become a writer, just like me.”
The brunette opened his eyes again, the smile never fading.
“He looks up to you.”
Oda’s smile brightened.
“I’m just glad he doesn’t want to be part of the Port Mafia anymore. They are all going to have a bright future. I’m sure of it.”
Now, Dazai followed Oda’s gaze into the distance.
“They love you. Every single one of them.”
“I love them, too.”
Silence washed over them again. Then, Dazai leaned towards Oda, whispering against his ear.
“If only...”
His voice grew even more quiet, until it was barely audible.
“...they were still alive.”
***
Just like that, he jerked up. His breathing was uneven, sweat ran over his forehead, a strange ache seemingly crushing something inside of his chest. Reflexively, he reached for his chest, trying to calm the aching beating of his heart, trying to register his surroundings. He was sitting up in his bed. Upon blinking several times, he recognized the room he was staying in. It was his apartment. Next to him, his eye caught the sight of a picture frame on the nightstand. With shaky hands, he reached for the picture frame in an attempt to inspect it further. As soon as he recognized five figures smiling brightly, something wretched twisted in his gut, causing him to drop the frame which burst into countless shards.
He remembered. It was back, all at once. He didn’t leave the Port Mafia. He wasn’t a writer. And the kids weren’t alive anymore.
Maybe there had once been the chance for him to leave his past behind, to move on and start a new life, the five children growing to become great adults. But not in this reality. In this reality, everything was over for him.
Slowly, Oda closed his eyes.
“Good night... kids.”

Poker Pair week Day 5
Prompt: Whim
Word Count: 1648
The cool spring air washed over Allen as he rolled down the window of the sports car, and he grinned as his hair blew around his face.
"Enjoying yourself, boy?" Tyki asked. Allen looked over at the older man, nodding his head.
"I can't wait to go to the fair with everyone and eat all of that food!"
Tyki chuckled. "Of course you are."
They pulled into a large grassy field that was currently acting as a parking lot. They found an empty spot and pulled in, pushing the doors closed as they exited the car. Allen smiled at the bright rides and hummed with excitement at the smell of diabetes in the air.
"C'mon Tyki, let's go get some tickets and then find everyone," Allen chirped. Tyki chuckled as Allen grabbed his hand and eagerly pulled Tyki along. They stood in line at the ticket booth for a few minutes, both walking away with colourful bracelets when they were done.
They stood off to the side of the booth, both looking for Allen's friends. After a few minutes, Allen pushed up his sleeve, checking the time.
"They were supposed to meet us here by now," Allen huffed, standing on his tiptoes to glance over the crowd.
Tyki chuckled lightly at the sight. "Calm down, they're probably on their way here now."
Allen looked around a bit more before his face suddenly lit up.
"There they are! I can see Lavi!"
Allen raced off to greet his friends, while Tyki followed at a more leisurely pace.
"There you guys are! I was getting worried," Allen said, once he had caught up to his friends. Lenalee gave Allen a hug in greeting, and Lavi slung an arm around his shoulders.
"Heya Allen, long time no see!" Lavi cheered, pulling Allen in for an awkward one-armed hug and shaking him a little before letting him go.
"Did you bring your fucking sugar daddy with you?" Kanda questioned condescendingly, cutting off Allen's reply. Lavi swatted Kanda's shoulder disapprovingly, mouthing 'Yuu-chan, be nice!' before pulling the dark-haired man to his side.
Allen looked over at the tall man that walking their way. "Yeah, I did. He offered to pay for my food and admission."
Being a broke student really had its drawbacks.
Lavi's eyebrows raised.
"All your food?" he questioned. Allen nodded in response. Lavi did a low whistle as Tyki approached.
"Wow, man, you gotta be loaded if you're going to pay for Allen's food! This kid can fucking eat!" Lavi exclaimed, flashing a grin in Tyki's direction as he approached, "Are you prepared?"
Tyki just laughed lightly. "Oh don't worry, this isn't the first time I've taken him for food. I am very prepared."
Allen stepped up beside Tyki, and looped an arm through his.
"All right guys, where to first?"
                                          ----------------------------
As the day was drawing to a close, the first couple stars peeked through the clouds as the sun slowly set. Allen had managed to drag Tyki onto one last ride before they left, insisting it was the perfect ride for this time of day.
This was how they ended up on the Ferris Wheel, and Tyki did have to admit, it was the perfect ride. You could see the entire fair grounds, and even the parking lot, when you were at the top of the wheel. As the giant wheel rotated around again, it stopped with Tyki and Allen's seat at the very top, Allen sighed and scooted closer to Tyki, leaning his head on Tyki's shoulder. Tyki's arm, which was currently resting on the back of the seat, curled around Allen's shoulders.
"Cold, boy?" Tyki asked. Allen shook his head, snuggling deeper into Tyki's side. Tyki gave a throaty chuckle, running his fingers along Allen's arm. They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, enjoying the sunset and warmth of each others' bodies. Allen tilted his head up, gazing at Tyki's face. He studied the man for a moment, liking the way the setting sun hit his face, the dying light highlighting his angular features.
Without thought, Allen pushed his body upwards to place a kiss on Tyki's cheek. Tyki jolted at the sudden contact, staring wide-eyed at Allen.
"Ah, boy, what was that for?"
Allen shrugged. "I don't know, I just wanted to."
A confused look came over Tyki's face. "You know, boy, this isn't part of our arrangement."
"I know, but..." Allen twiddled his thumbs, sitting up and leaning away from Tyki. Tyki looked at him questioningly as Allen struggled to find the words to describe what he felt.
"I know we started this whole thing, where... you know, I kept you company and you paid my bills and all that... and it's been great--" Allen suddenly cut himself off, looking down, a deep blush setting on his cheeks, trying desperately to find the words to continue. Tyki sat still and silent, watching the man fumble with his words and his hands. "... but now that we're spending so much time together, and you've been so good to me, I just can't help but feel like, I don't know... I feel like there's something there, you know? And it's not like I don't like how we are right now, I do really enjoy this... but, don't you ever feel like you wanted something more? Because sometimes I do, and it's these moments where I realize, I don't really want to have anyone else to be here with me like this, you know?"
"What are you trying to say, Allen?" Tyki said softly, trying desperately to catch the smaller man's gaze. Allen now seemed to lose his momentum, now silent in his search to explain himself. Tyki cleared his throat.
"Well, when it all began, all I had was work. I came home to an empty house and I didn't have the motivation to look for anyone. I didn't have the time. But on that day that I found you, with all that rain, the bus splashing you and ruining your recital sheet music, something in my head told me to help you, get you out of the rain..." Tyki paused.
Tyki suddenly looked lost in thought, his recollection taking him back to that day.  Allen had told Tyki, a stranger, for no reason at all, how he was juggling three jobs and a full course load and music classes on the side. They had found a coffee shop to get Allen warm and dry and spent the afternoon together, casually talking and spreading out the pages of Allen's next piano piece over the table to dry. Tyki knew right away that they got along really easily, and in incredibly awkward terms, offered to provide for Allen, so he didn't have to worry. It started with incredible embarrassment at first, but coming home to Allen practicing his concertos on the piano Tyki never used, his house finally felt like a home. All Tyki needed was companionship, and Allen needed the means to work on his music in peace. There was never any pressure for something more.
Allen giggled suddenly. Tyki looked at him questioningly, wondering if the ashen haired man had gone insane. Allen covered his face in his hands and continued to laugh, just making Tyki feel more and more insecure. After a few moments, Allen calmed down, looking Tyki full in the face, brushing a tear from his eye.
"Dude, that is so gay."
Tyki startled a little bit, staring at Allen for a few seconds before his shocked expression melted into an easy grin.
"Maybe."
Allen smiled and looked down at his hands, licking his lips.
"I guess what I mean to say is... is there room between you and me to... I don't know, be more than friends?"
Tyki smirked, and pulled the smaller man towards him, enveloping him into a firm hug.
"Well, boy, I don't know if I can afford you."
                                           -------------------------
As they hopped off the ride, Allen's trio of friends pushed through the crowd towards them, worry clearly on their faces.
"Are you guys okay?" Lenalee asked with concern, grabbing Allen's hands in hers.
"W-what do you mean, Lena? Of course we're fine, we just rode the Ferris Wheel, nothing crazy..." Allen sputtered in confusion, looking over at Kanda and Lavi, who were holding hands and looking equally worried.
"You idiot, you do know that the ride you were just on was broken for like half an hour, right?!" Kanda spat, looking concerned and slightly disgruntled.
Tyki and Allen glanced at each other for a few moments in shock, before dissolving into laughter. The trio before them stared at them like they had lost their minds.
"I guess that explains why we had the most amazing view of the sunset for so long, all we could hear was the music and noise from the crowds on the ground!" Allen giggled, staring with absolute adoration at Tyki's face, Tyki pulling him into the crook of his arm and gazing back at the friends with a cocky air.
"Well, now that we're here, d'you guys have anything else you wanna do?" Lavi said without missing a beat. Tyki paused for a few moments before shaking his head.
"I'm afraid I have some business at home I have to attend to, and I'll need Allen's help, if that's all right with you."
Lenalee smiled and nodded, Lavi shrugged his shoulders and grinned, nodding as well. Kanda, on the other hand, screwed up his delicate mouth with a grimace, looking completely disgusted and offended. Clearly something unpalatable was going to happen in Kanda's mind.
With that, the pair broke away from the group, waving their goodbyes as they threaded through the crowd, hand in hand, the day drawing to a close as the sun softly disappeared below the horizon.

I hate to be a pain, but have you got a list of owari no seraph or specifically mikayuu story recommendations anywhere? I love your stories and trust that you have good taste lol :) Thanks!!
OH YES! Now it’s time for me to shamelessly advertise for my favorite fics! ;D Thank you for asking, and thank you for the compliment on my fics! /)///(\ you’re too kind!
In no particular order…
Cherry Boy by EtherealBeing
Summary: As if being dragged into a sex shop by Shinoa wasn’t bad enough, now Yuu also has to deal with the store’s uncomfortably attractive attendant.
Status: Ongoing
This is biased because Anna is one of my closest friends in the fandom, BUT SHE IS SO DAMN TALENTED. You will laugh, you will blush, you will be mindblown by the complexity in these character’s thoughts, it’s honestly a wild ride and I can’t wait to see the grand finale of it all that is coming to us soon. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a must.
Corner of a Birdcage by oxeh
Summary: “So, to sum it up, you’re like Superman without the spandex… And without the laser eyes, X-Ray vision, and ice breath. Also, you kill vampires and Horsemen instead of dealing with—“
“Basically, I’m not like Superman at all.”
or
Yuu is a university student that tends to live for the moment. Mika is a cynical superhero that’s more super than a hero. Fate is a bit aggressive with intertwining their lives.
Status: Ongoing
THIS FIC IS BRILLIANT. If you have not read it yet, I swear go do it! It’s funny, it’s exciting, it flows and it’s just a lovely, enjoyable read. Oxy is a sweetheart as well and she’s got some incredible ideas in that head of hers, lemme tell you! Go check it out!!! You won’t regret it :D
Diamond in the Rough by Hannaadi88, Sarah737
Summary: Mikaela had been the captain of the Seraph for over seven years, yet he’d never come across another ship carrying such riches. The prospect of boarding the Opal and stealing all she had made a rare smile play on his lips.
If he did this well, he would finally make a name for himself. The Opal might just be what he’d always wanted- a chance to prove how fearsome he could be.
Mikaela Shindo will be a name to revere among all pirates to sail the seven seas.
Status: Ongoing
THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES. Hanna and Sarah are some of the most talented people I know, and together, they are unstoppable and unrelenting!! From the descriptives to the dialogue to the intriguing plot, this story makes pirates sexy, let me tell you. LOL, seriously you will not regret it… if you want a good time, I invite you to read this masterpiece right here!
Garden of Hades by 6lilystrings9
Summary: A stubborn, annoying, and repulsive human is captured by the Vampire forces, and to his dismay, Mika is assigned as his handler.
How irritating.
(The AU where human Yuu-chan and vampire Mika meet for the first time as captive and keeper)
Status: Ongoing
I remember when Lily first talked about her fic in our Skype chat room and how when I read it, I was stunned! I didn’t realize how amazing it was, how well put-together, how structured. It’s enticing and exciting and full of vivid descriptives and intense, heart-pounding scenes. Another must-read, if you ask me, and I also cannot wait to see how it ends.
Scented by Hannaadi88
Summary: In a world ruled by beta neutrality, alphas and omegas are controlled by suppressants which modify their natural inclinations. Under constant surveillance, unproductive members of society are removed in the name of efficiency. Yuichiro Hyakuya is deemed infertile by the Board and is sentenced to certain death. In an act of defiance Yuichiro steals enough suppressants to hide his scent and joins the military under the guise of a beta.
It would be his luck to find himself under the command of his assigned mate, Mikaela Shindo.
Status: Ongoing
Hanna is not only a friend of mine, but she is sO DAMN TALENTED! I recommend all of her fics, so please check out her page while you’re at it, but she is well known for her big multi chapter fic, Scented. This story takes the concept of omegaverse and gives it almost a Mulan-like feel to it, with Yuu being in disguise and all. It’s really fantastic and another thrilling story I highly suggest!
Afire love by stirkedawn
Summary: After Nagoya’s failed mission, an unsteady truce is formed between Shinoa’s squad and Mikaela Hyakuya, making Yuu feel conflicted inside. On one hand, he’s got Mika back, his friends are alive, and they seem to be trying to be civil with each other, even if it’s just for his sake. On the other hand, Guren is being held captive by the vampires, Shinya has just given them a mission Yuu doesn’t like, and Mika… Yuu doesn’t really know what Mika is feeling.
Maybe not even Mikaela knows what he’s truly feeling, after all.
Status: Completed
You will commonly see the fandom preach that if all goes wrong, Afire love is our accepted canon. This fic immerses itself into the canon universe of Owari no Seraph and gives us an epic climax and end to the series that it probably one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever read. I also agree that if the manga plummets to total disaster, Afire love is what I will think of for a happy ending.
Somebody to Lean On by TrashPanda
Summary: Yuichiro needs a partner to help him with vampire hunting. His only option is to seek out somebody in the slave auctions. He comes upon a discounted slave, as beautiful as he is unwanted, and Yuu claims him for himself. Little did he know, this slave would change everything he ever knew about him himself, and in the process Yuu discovers he cannot live without this man, now that he has him in his life.
Status: Ongoing
This story is fantastic! It’s got an interesting plot that’s brilliantly written, a romance beautifully described and a story that interests the reader endlessly. I can picture this fic animated like it was its own anime show. It’s really, really good and I suggest it! I can’t wait for another update! I also suggest the author in general, they have some really good stuff.
My Inner Beast by Northernreign
Summary: Yuuichirou is a young werewolf who finds himself awake one evening in a human orphanage.
To avoid being executed, he desperately tries to conceal his true identity from the “monstrous” humans who- along with the vampires, have been responsible for his kind’s slow decline into extinction. But over time, he comes to know one particular human boy who will help him learn to embrace his humanity, not resent it. Together they will overcome countless fated tragedies with the sheer power of will and love alone. Each event will bring him closer to the answer he has been seeking for almost a lifetime.
 Just who really are the true monsters in this world?
The vampires?
The humans?
The werewolves?
Or himself?

A truly underrated story!! Nathalie is an incredible writer and artist and she combines those skills to bring you this lovely story that doesn’t get enough attention- ESPECIALLY since it’s her first fic. You would never guess; she writes like a pro. This story takes you all over, from the eyes of so many of our beloved characters to shape the story and relationships in the best possible way. You can really feel everything she describes and it really stimulates the senses. Check it out if you haven’t, it’s a journey and I’m eager to see where it goes.

The equilibrium of power has been tilted to a great imbalance, Its people fallen to temptation. The end is fast approaching, and all souls are fated to meet oblivion. Rumors whisper of the Avatar, the master of all four elements, holding the key to mankind’s only hope of salvation. Families pray under his guiding light, Enemies vow to divide and conquer. But the glimmer of hope is sometimes found in the darkest of places, somewhere people would least expect.
Status: Ongoing
As someone who is only just now watching Avatar for the first time, I had no idea what to expect. I’m still not 100% caught up, but this is a goddamn masterpiece and I can tell that from the first 3 chapters that I’ve read. This is an amazing project put together by some of the most talented authors and writers in the fandom that are all lovely, passionate friends of mine. They deserve all the love in the world. If you haven’t read it yet- especially if you don’t know anything about Avatar- READ IT ANYWAYS. You don’t need to understand Avatar or the original series at all to enjoy this fic. It’s magnificent; please check it out!
And, a little shameless advertising for my own stories, for those who are curious ;o
Unwritten by Vixenfur
Summary: While being forcefully dragged to KFC by Lacus- a man who had a black pit of a stomach- Mika had a once-in-a-lifetime, Snapchat-worthy experience. The guy in the left lane had no shame. He was unintimidated by a stranger with a phone and he continued to sing the song Unwritten confidently. Lacus found the experience hysterical
…. Little did they know they would run into each other again hardly an hour later- Yuu was in desperate need of a haircut, according to Shinoa.
He was dropped off at Sanguinem Salon, and was a little mortified to find out that the hot guy he just sang horribly to was Mika, the one holding hair-trimming scissors behind the chair.

Haikyuu: Reporter(R)/First year(FY)/Newbie(N)
Chapter 2                      Chapter 3: Nishinoya Yuu                     Chapter 4
You looked across the court, and smiled when you saw the person you wanted to interview next.
He turned, and caught your gaze.
With a blush slowly creeping up your ears, you waved the other short team member over to you. Silently asking him to be your next interviewee.
He nodded before turning to the four boys he stood with, and you figured he was explaining it was his turn.
You jotted on your notes how he seemed to be good at showing respect to the other teammates, despite his rowdy actions when you first arrived.
“I get to go next? Awesome!” You heard the spiky-brunette exclaim as he approached you.
You looked up at him from your sitting position and smiled, “Thanks for being willing to talk to me, um…” You drawled trying to indicate you didn’t know his name.
The boy’s hand flew to the back of his neck, “Nishinoya Yuu, class 2-3. I’m the team libero.” He stated, sitting in front of you, cross-legged and pushing his back straight with his hands against his knees. His smile would have blinded you if you didn’t glance down quickly to write down the name and position.
“Well, thank you Nishinoya-san, for being willing to talk to me for this,” You were still hesitant about his asking you about your relationship status, but decided to focus on work for now. “I just have a few questions, and then if you have anything you want to share beyond that you should feel free to. Sound good?”
He nodded, keeping his wide grin turned towards you.
You began by asking what got him interested in volleyball, and how he came to choose Karasuno to be his team.
It was amazing to see how lit-up his eyes were as he explained his history with the sport. And, you were grateful that he explained his position to you in his own words, because reading a definition online did not give you a real understanding.
“Oh, yea, a libero is someone who stays back-row. They mainly focus on receives, and actually specialize in that field of the game. Liberos as a position don’t serve, and cannot hit from in front of the line.” He huffed, “So I won’t hit above the net like Hinata-kun, but I can be the reason he is allowed to hit the ball like he does.”
Smiling at Nishinoya’s positivity, you said, “That sounds like a tough job.”
He shook away your worries, “It’s the best job! I get to watch all my teammates at their best when I get a good receive.”
Taking down some notes on the expression he gave, you thought about how much he must really respect his teammates. “So, this is kind of random, but” you exhaled at how much pressure you felt in your shoulders, wondering if your sudden thought was going too far, “Other than playing volleyball, was there anything you dreamed of doing?”
Looking at you, Nishinoya pulled his hand to his chin in thought, “A dream where I didn’t play volleyball.” Suddenly something clicked in him as he snapped his fingers and leaned closer towards you.
You had jumped at his sudden snap, but then leaned forward as well, wondering what this boy’s answer would be.
“Over the years I’ve had this dream where I couldn’t play volleyball anymore,” He started, you were nerve-wracked at his smile, thoroughly believing you had your scoop right here, “because I was the ball!” He whisper-yelled.
You laughed. So loud you backed away from the boy in front of you so you could get more air.
And, you kept laughing. Rocking back from the action because you found it so funny. This excite-able spiky-haired boy had seemingly just told you the funniest joke in the world, you were laughing so hard.
He smiled at your reaction, mentally high-fiving himself as practice halted again as his teammates heard you. They smiled in your direction, but you didn’t see anything.
Sitting back up, clutching your side with one hand and trying to wipe away tears of joy from your eye, you giggled through your short breaths. “Please tell me I can use that in the article.” You thought it would be great as an opener, and couldn’t believe how lucky you were. It might not be the exclusive you thought it was, but it was definitely worth the time you spent looking into this sport.
He nodded as his smile grew, which surprised you because ‘how can that smile grow?!’
“Thank you, Nishinoya-san. This is a great line.” You smiled as you wrote it down, word for word.
When he didn’t respond, you looked up again, worried you had pushed him into allowing you to use his joke.
“Just,” he started, his blonde streak falling a bit to direct your vision towards his piercing gaze, “Just Noya is fine.” He said.
Nodding in return, his smile returned and you wondered why it mattered. He was in a different grade from you, and you were only here for your club. Would you cross paths enough in the future for it to matter? You shook your head and smiled back. “Well, thanks again Noya-san. I think I got what I needed, was there anything you wanted to add?”
Before the boy in front of you could let the sound out of his open mouth, he was tackled to the ground by his buzz-cut haired friend.
With who you assumed was his partner in crime, the excited-ness from before came rushing back to the shorter boy. They playfully punched each other as Noya asked, “What the hell was that for Tanaka?!”
Buzz-cut, Tanaka, “Just smiled, had to protect our precious Newspaper Club member from you trying to steal her number.” He smirked at the shocked look on his friend’s face, both ignorant to your own stupefied expression.
As the two went back and forth, you mumbled that you kind of wanted to exchange numbers in case you needed more quotable lines for the article.
Both boys turned to you, “For real?” The shorter asked, pulling you to a standing position next to him.
You nodded, as you stumbled over your words again. Mentally cursing yourself for not starting with the captain so he could explain this to everyone. By the end of the night, you wanted all of their numbers, or as many as were willing to share so you could have a pool of respondents to get quotes from. Talking was great for a general story, but messages helped solidify their words and ensure you weren’t mis-quoting anyone.
The excite-able pair didn’t seem to mind your mumbling, or even what you were trying to say. As they took your pencil and notebook, Noya wrote his number under his name and drew a smiley face. The other boy flipped a page and wrote down some things as well.
When he handed it back to you, you smiled as you realized he just stole the third interview slot from under his teammates’ noses.

Gin’s Journal Part 5
The port of Kugane is the same as i left it five years ago, the salty wind whipping on my face and the sound of the native people welcome us as we step on the dock. Even after years leaving the city, i still feel awed at the majestic Senmon. The gate of the Hingan that lead us to the Holstery. We spent a bit of time discussing which inn we should stay. I initially offered the Uragshi to stay at the boarding house belonging to the Ittotshu Hanabi Dojo.
I know for a fact that sensei will gladly have us use the place as all the students have left home for summer vacation to their hometown. The rest that left will not mind having companies.Khatun Qurcaqi decides to stay in Bokairo inn, an excellent choice too as the inn provide a fair price and high-quality service. I remember once writing an article about Hingan tourism in the local newspaper and gave the inn a  good review after they invited me to stay for 2 days and 1 night.
As the person who has stayed in Kugane for sometimes, i am familiar with the laws and custom of the port town. I explained the rules and is glad that the Khatun and other Uragshi sisters understood this.Everyone was glad to have left the ship and as soon as we settled in the inn, the Uragshi went to the hot springs to relax while i went to the dojo with Sara and Nergui. Sensei was happy to see me, it was a happy reunion. He is older than i remember and has stopped teaching for a year now. Focusing on his inner cultivation and only overseeing the Dojo. Hiroki, my fellow Meijin have taken over as the Sensei of the Dojo temporarily until he receives approval to take over completely. We exchanged news and pleasantries. That night, i sleep in my old room with Sara and Nergui.
Speaking about Sara and Nergui, the kids have been very obedient to the Uragshi and i have volunteered to take care of them. Nergui reminds me of my younger self. He is quiet and reserved but takes his responsibility for his sister seriously. The Uragshi, unfortunately, do not have enough capacity to raise children at the moment, i do not blame them as the clan is still too new for younger charge and it would be a considerable burden. Even though my heart is heavy knowing this, the most logical way we should take is request the Bairon to take the kids with them if we cannot find the Arulaq. Once Nergui is older, if he chooses to return to the Uragshi then he can do so.
I spent the next day reporting to Sekiseigumi as a custom, as an ex-volunteer i have few colleagues in the security force. Chief Kondo Hiraizumi gave me my old badge, the man trust to me is something that sometimes weight my heart. I resolved not to misuse his trust and keep the badge in case it comes handy.
I might have gone all around the city for most morning and afternoon, however, my mind constantly moves back to a woman staying in Bokairo Inn. Ever since talking to Dayuuqi above the ship, i found myself unable to deny it anymore….i am surely getting attracted to her. I am trying hard to not make it too obvious so she won't feel uncomfortable.Passing through the Kogane Dori, the owner of the shop pulled me to peruse her wares. Initially, i was going to return to Kogane Dori to meet the Uragshi however the wares caught my eyes. Various items that the owner claim to be popular with the young ladies. Looking at the various colorful hairpins, the owner keeps promoting her wares stating that this is the current trend in Bukyo, the capital and amongst the lady of higher class. I start to try and picture how it will fit Yuu, bringing the item in front of my face and trying to picture her wearing it when a voice greeted me.
I almost dropped the hairpins in surprise. Seeing her standing there wearing a very beautiful Suikan.I wonder if she knows Suikan with Silk Yarn Kikutoji she wears means she is ready to be married...the mere thought brings me to fluster about it but i recovered quickly. Using souvenir as an excuse, i bought her the hairpin which she wears on her hair fitting her Suikan and her beautiful smile. We conversed for sometimes after that, before the rest of the Uragshi came to join us. I offered to take them to the Ijin section since Sara wants to see the Garlean consulate. When we arrived, the Garlean as always is haughty and arrogant. Sara keeps trying to imply that she wants to get in, even jokingly said she may be able to break in. I feel this is quite disturbing since it may pose two kind of danger. First is that the ground inside the Garlean consulate belongs to them. If she got caught, she can be treated and punished according to Garlean law. Second, if the Sekiseigumi found out one of the Uragshi tries to break in, they won't be pleased. The Garlean guards feel annoyed at Sara and was about to see what she was doing when i start talking to them, i shown my Sekiseigumi badge and told them that the Xaela are guests of the Bakufu. This does not seems to deter the Garlean as they shout at Sara to move away. Sara proceed to spoke with the Garleans and they seems to be caught aback. I wasn't really sure what she said to them.
When i returned to the group, a tall male already joined the group and was talking with Yuuqi. We introduced ourselves to each other, his name is Tagadhur and he is an acquaintance of the clan. He seems to be curious at me. As we walk towards the park, i observed Tagadhur keeps attempting to talk to Yuuqi. I know that Yuuqi is a beautiful woman and that she have many admirers. It was foolish of me if i expect that we would not encounter one of her admirers, to which this man apparently is. As we sit near the pond, i conversed with the rest of the group, however, i found myself keep losing my focus as i keep watching Tagadhur tries to attract Yuuqi's attention. The man is not as subtle as i thought as he tries to sit between me and Yuuqi, i feel the same pang and jealousy but thought to myself that i need to be the one who take the higher road here.
I realize the group haven't ate yet, so i went to the market to buy few boxes of Bento. I remember Caqi's wife is pregnant and one of the healers i had a pleasure of acquainted with said that pregnant woman should not eat raw food. When i return and distributed the box, everyone starts to eat except for Ibakha because she was resting. The feeling of uneasiness keeps pulsing through my being, these new feelings i have is really unpleasant akin to seasickness but worst. I feel myself keeps clenching my fist and tries to take a deep breath, but it keeps getting worst. At one point, Yuuqi wishes to return to the inn. I took this chance and approach her, offering my hand to walk with her back to the inn. Tagadhur tries to come with us and Yuuqi rejected him politely.
Then i did the unthinkable... Something that even myself find shocked that i would do that kind of action... I told Tagadhur that if i cannot escort my Fiancee safely back to her inn, what kind of a man i am? My mouth might have said it in politeness but in my mind it was a sword, dripping with venom. The worst was, i did not regret saying it. The only regret i had was Yuuqi might be angry at me for my insolence, claiming something that she has not even acknowledge at that time. I was new, too new to this raw feelings and emotions and find myself lost. All my life, i never dislike a person without clear cause. I hated those slavers and pirates who burnt down that coastal village seven years ago. I fought them and lost because of my inexperienced self-was too confident in my own ability. Spent a year in their stockade, manage to escape only thanks to Nhaama's intervention.
At that time, however, i feel every time i see Tagadhur tries to talk to Yuuqi and his questioning glance he throws at me is scraping and irritating me to no end.  I disliked this man who tries to woo someone who is not even mine. That was low of me and i found myself in later days pondering about this. I was ready to stand in shame had Yuuqi deny my words, but i will never walk away. A part of me was wondering what drives me to do such action and stance? that even if she denies it, my shamed self still won't go. I would later realize that this is the first time i realized that i am falling for this woman...and no matter how i deny it, i am falling hard for her.
To my dismay and the next shocking thing was that she acknowledges that her family had betrothed her with me. I swear at that time it took me all my self-control not to just jump into the pond in joy. I was known to do weird things to express my happiness... Opposite to my happiness, Tagadhur expression was the epitome of disappointment. I applaud him for doing well to mask it and at that time i truly wish we could be a friend. It was ironic, because a moment ago i was ready to fight him right there. It seems that i am not as mature as i think i am... The last words Tagadhur whispered to me was "Give her whatever she wants, even if she asks for moon or stars...she deserves it" i applaud the heart of this man but does he thinks i will give Yuuqi less? i would give her even more.

Our walk home was quiet until the fireworks start to illuminate the sky that night. She seems to be excited and i explained to her about the Tanabata festival. Where the buffalo herder meet the weaver girl during the peak of summer. A symbol of everlasting love, even though distance and time separate. It brings a smile to her face. Suddenly i feel like taking a long detour, however, the inn was at sight. I dropped her by and goes back to the dojo. I was happy, and sleep was hard to be found... I dont care
I am in love with Dayuuqi...
