The Sun
Fandom: D.Gray-ma
Pairing: Kanda Yu/Tyki Mikk/ Lavi Bookman
Word Count: 1681
Read on Ao3
Kanda hated it here.
The space was small and cramped; the bookshelves on either side of him tall and crammed full of countless titles. The air was musty, and every thing was covered in dust. It seemed to be more like an abandoned old library than an actual store.
So, of course it was Lavi’s favourite bookstore.
Rolling his eyes at the image his mind conjured up – a giddy Lavi, badly attempting to hid his excitement, his loud voice hushed for once – and decidedly ignoring the way his heart skipped a beat at it, Kanda turned around, ready to tell Tyki that present be damned, it was time to leave.
“Oi, Tyki, let’s get-“
Kanda stopped short when he turned around to an empty aisle. Biting back a growl at the disappearance of his taller companion, Kanda; never one for subtly, started yelling.
“Oi! Tyki! Where the fuck did you disappear too?”
Hearing quick footsteps before he even finished, Kanda looked to the end of the aisle to see Tyki rounding the corner. Catching sight of Kanda, Tyki hurriedly started walking towards him, a rare frown set on his face.
“Really? Must you?” Tyki said, tone unimpressed. Kanda raised an eyebrow, looking up at the taller man.
“You left. I’m not running through this god forsaken store to find you.” Kanda said matter of factly, shrugging his shoulders. Tyki just sighed in response, already well used to Kanda’s manner of thinking.
“Fine, fine. I found what I was looking for anyways so we can leave now.” Tyki said, holding up the book that Kanda hadn’t realized he was holding. As Kanda read the long and ostentatious title, something tugged at the back of his mind.
“I think he already has that one.” Kanda said, a note of frustration in his voice. If that was the case, then that meant his escape from this dusty hell wasn’t forthcoming.
Looking at the book with a puzzled expression Tyki flipped it open, quickly flipping through the pages. Suddenly snapping the book shut, Tyki breathed out heavily, disappointment coming off him in waves.
“You’re right.”
Kanda snorted in amusement at the way Tyki had to force out the sentence.
Placing the book on a random shelf next to him, Tyki turned to walk away. He gestured for Kanda to follow him, which Kanda did, albeit reluctantly.
“I don’t know why we have to get the dumb rabbit a book. The idiot already has too fucking many.”
Tyki sighed, coming to a stop a couple aisle’s over from where they were.
“Do you remember what we got him for Christmas last year?” Tyki asked, his voice hushed.  Even though they were the only ones in the store, the both of them had been in enough to know the unwritten etiquettes.
“Why does that matter?” Kanda lowly said. His voice turned husky at the lower decibel, Tyki’s eyes shining in delight at the gruffly spoken words.
“Humor me.”
Rolling his eyes Kanda thought back to what they had gotten for Lavi.
“It was a book, right? Something about the mind or some shit.”
Tyki snorted out a laugh at Kanda’s vague answer.
“Something like that. Now, do you remember what his reaction was when he unwrapped it?” Tyki said gently, as if he was coaching a child through a particularly difficult question.
Kanda huffed in embarrassed annoyance as a warmth spread throughout his chest, the same feeling he always got whenever he thought about Lavi. After all, how could he forget how cute Lavi had looked.
Lavi’s smile had been so wide and bright. His tanned, freckled cheeks with their cute dimples had grown red with excitement and embarrassment as he had clutched the book to his chest. His green eye had crinkled around the edges from how big he was smiling, shining with so much love and affection it had made Kanda’s chest hurt. His nose had crinkled up, in the adorable way it does when he gets excited, or thinks hard – which Kanda has found out through the years is almost always- the action prompting the nickname that gradually turned into a petname.
A snicker drew Kanda’s attention back to the present, glaring up at Tyki’s amused expression. Reaching out Tyki lightly brushed his fingers against the tips of Kanda’s ears, trailing down to rest his hand against the back of his neck. A possessive gesture; one that never failed to make Kanda’s heart beat faster and his stomach flip pleasantly.
Tyki’s hand slid down; between Kanda’s shoulders blades, fingertips gliding along his spine before settling at his lower back. Kanda could feel the warmth of Tyki’s hand through his layers of clothing, the sickly-sweet warmth spread through out his body his body in earnest as he stared up into Tyki’s golden eyes. His hands clenched anxiously in his jacket’s pockets, still not used to the feeling even after all these years.
Pressing a kiss to Kanda’s temple, Tyki spoke, warm breath moving the fine hairs that framed Kanda’s face.
“I know, he was quite cute, wasn’t he? Made me want to kiss him.” A chuckle followed Tyki’s admission as he moved away from the other slightly, knowing the sullen male wasn’t keen on displays if affection.
A silence followed Tyki’s softly spoken words, Kanda ducking his head in embarrassment as he felt his cheeks warm up. One of his hand’s came up to anxiously pull at his bangs as he stumbled over his words. He knew that Tyki, if anything, would tease him about his admittance, but never judge him.
After all, they were in the same boat. Hopelessly smitten for a red-haired fool.
“Yeah, I-uh-it was- “Kanda stopped. He could feel the patience coming from Tyki, the other knowing that words were never Kanda’s strong suit, and especially not words of affection.
“I thought so too. About-about what you said.”
A grin stretched across Tyki’s face; his golden eyes soft as he listened to Kanda.
“Mhmm especially what followed after don’t you think?”
Kanda let out a snort of amusement that turned into a low chuckle with the wink Tyki threw his way.
Shaking his head, Kanda was unsurprised that Tyki’s mind went to some of their more…carnal activities. Suddenly an excited grin came over Tyki’s face, confusing Kanda as the taller gently ushered him out of their current aisle into one a few over.
“If he has a really good birthday, I’m sure he wouldn’t object to a repeat. Which means a really good present.”
Tyki stopped in the middle of the aisle, the plaque above these shelves spelling out ‘History’ in large letters. Kanda sighed in frustration. Of course, a history book for the history nut. Why hadn’t he thought of that.
“There’s been a book he’s been talking about recently, one by an author he quite likes about some war or another.” Tyki said vaguely, waving his hand in a dismissive gesture as he perused the shelves in front of him.
“I don’t remember what it was called, but if I saw it – ah ha! There!” Tyki pulled the book off the shelf with a flourish, proudly displaying it in front of him.
“There we go, the perfect gift.”
Kanda glanced over the title, not able to make sense of the long string of words, but recognized the author, the name adorning dozens of Lavi’s books.
“Yeah, alright. That looks good.” Kanda said, nodding along with his words.
As they walked up to the front till, a thought struck Kanda.
“We should take him out for Korean BBQ too. That place he likes, the family’s back from vacation.”
Tyki’s face lit up, a large grin blossoming on his face.
“You’re right! Oh, he’d love that!”
Tyki’s hand came up to rest on Kanda’s shoulder, squeezing softly.
“He’ll definitely be excited. Something which I’m sure he’ll show us.”
Tyki’s fingers gently rubbed against Kanda’s shoulder as they made their way up to the register. The warm feeling from earlier hadn’t gone away, instead settling in the bottom of his stomach. He tried to ignore the way it flipped as Tyki’s fingers brushed against the back of his neck as they approached the counter. He put on a neutral expression as he watched the cashier bag up the item. Not that it was fooling anyone. He could feel his ears still burning and his face twitch as Tyki’s hand brushed against his as he reached to grab his wallet.
“You’d like that too, wouldn’t you?” Tyki said, slightly nudging Kanda with his elbow.
Kanda thought back to Christmas after Lavi had shown the pair just how happy he was. How the three of them had laid in post-orgasmic bliss together. Kanda had some how wound up in the middle, Tyki reclining against the headboard and Lavi nestled against Kanda’s side. Tyki had ran his fingers through Kanda’s messy hair, and in turn he had run his fingers along Lavi’s back. They had laid together, not speaking, not sleeping, just existing in each others presence.
Kanda looked up at Tyki as they were exiting the store. Ignoring Tyki’s noise of surprise, Kanda grabbed his arm and led him to the side of the store and out of sight of the busy sidewalk.
Turning quickly, Kanda leaned forward on his toes, placing a soft kiss to Tyki’s lips. He heard the muffled noise of surprise from the other man at his uncharacteristic display of affection. Tyki’s lips moved against his, the pleasant heat from the slow kiss making his head spin and his heart feel too big for his chest. As if any moment it would burst out and show the man in front of him how he felt, the messy words he voices never enough.
Separating with a soft sound Tyki stared down at Kanda, eyes glittering with too many emotions for Kanda to name. Kanda felt a lump form in his throat. He brought his hand up to scrub self-consciously at the bridge of his nose, staring down at their feet as he cleared his throat.
“I’d like that.”

i saw art of nurse (?) eliade a while ago and it got me thinking about the what if’s. it’s dumb but hear me out.
what if eliade wasn’t an akuma and just a bored rich girl escaping the life she had grown to dislike? what if she had found a interest in the unknown ( vampires / werewolf’s and such ) so she goes off traveling and follows the rumors of this one vampire at a village. she ends up getting chased into the forest by the akuma villagers ( that in canon were with her when she showed up ) and krory takes them out. lunges towards her and she, in fear, passes out. wakes up to see him crying and things play out like in canon. for the final battle let’s say an akuma has holed itself in the castle somewhere and takes eliade hostage when it sees allen and lavi have shown up so we get to see krory fight all out before he joins the exorcists, but this time eliade goes along with him. i just need the ‘ i’m off to work my love ’ ‘ come home safe ’ dialogue in my life okay!

Fandom: D.Gray-man Rating: E Pairings: Lucky Poker (Allen x Lavi x Tyki); Yulma (Kanda x Alma); Cross x Neah Total Words: 185.9K Tags: Modern AU; High School AU; Delinquent AU
Description: Senior year of high school should’ve been a breeze for Lavi. He’s got amazing grades, amazing friends, and gets to spend his year living with Gramps in his old hometown. What he didn’t count on was catching the eye of a sticky-fingered delinquent who had a penchant for getting into trouble—and dragging Lavi with him.
Chapter 26: Heart to Heart
As he thought over his options to return to his grandfather’s house, Allen grabbed his wrist, pulling him back into the bed. Lavi let out a soft, surprised noise, falling back against the mattress. He blinked, looking back at Allen.
“Don’t go,” Allen whispered, still not looking at him. His grip on Lavi’s wrist tightened, but it still wasn’t nearly as strong as it’d been in the past. “I’m sorry I didn’t text or call. I—” He cut himself off, fingers trembling against Lavi’s arm.
“It’s okay,” Lavi said. “I just wanted to make sure you were feeling better. You—You really scared me.”
Sighing, Allen rolled onto his back before covering his face with his free arm. He still gripped Lavi’s wrist like he was scared the redhead would leave if he let go. “I’m sorry,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. “I never wanted you to see me like that.”

Mun being indulgent with their Modern AU but it's Lavi edition....
I've been thinking a bit more on Lavi in my modern AU...and while I think Bookman will be decent at keeping a kid alive...
I think Bookman would be a bit abusive. Well...not just a bit.
Like I imagine Lavi being this hyperactive, curious, energetic little boy that just thirsts for knowledge and Bookman getting sick of his energetic hyperness sometimes and hitting him.
Like Lavi runs up to Bookman all excited to tell him about a cool rock or an animal track or a thing he learned out of a book and Bookman gets pissed and hits him because "he's being too loud."
And at first Cross didn't care, it wasn't until he actually got Allen and hung out more with people that he noticed and cared about shit.
And I just imagine Lavi holding his head and looking near tears and crestfallen padding away and then Cross just scoops him up and is all "what'd you find? That sounds interesting, tell me about it."

WIP Wednesday! 9/15/2021
Here is another excerpt from chapter 4 of my yullen soulmate AU wip! Hope you enjoy this lil snippet!
Beansprout: Good morning!
The normal message from Allen makes Kanda’s skin crawl.
And when Kanda pulls into the station parking lot and sees Allen chatting with Lavi in front of the entrance with two cups in hand, Kanda nearly wants to run. But Kanda has never really been the type to run. (Has he, though? Because ever since he met Allen - maybe even before that - he feels like he’s been running as far and as fast as he can yet not actually getting anywhere). Kanda jerks his chin up, he certainly won’t let Allen Walker stop him from going to work.
He walks swiftly across the cement gray parking lot to the pair, and like always, Allen seems to sense his presence before he actually makes himself known. And of course when their eyes lock, things around him fade into color. Not everything - because of the mask covering the lower half of his face - but the dull red brick of the station building, the peach of Allen’s skin, and most alarmingly of all - Lavi’s vivid fiery hair. The sight of it makes Kanda stop where he stands and blink several times wondering if the color is real.
“Kanda!” Allen calls to him and Kanda’s feet unconsciously start moving again. Lavi follows Allen’s gaze and Kanda sees that his one eye, not covered by the black eyepatch, is spring green.
“Yu!” Lavi happily shouts, with his red hair and green eye - he’s now Kanda’s partner in color. Kanda tries to cram down his shock, stuff it in a little box to store in the corner of his mind. Only Lavi’s hair and eye are in color, the rest of his friend is in the shades of gray that Kanda is used to seeing him in. That at least is something normal that he can latch onto.
“Beansprout.” Kanda greets when he gets to them. Allen holds one of the cups out to him and Kanda doesn’t ask before plucking it out of Allen’s gloved hand. He takes a sudden step backwards when he feels the phantom memory of Allen’s fingers dancing along the skin of Kanda’s neck in his dream. Those hands hadn’t been wearing gloves then.
“Dude, you look like you slept well.” Lavi comments. Kanda goes rigid, more memories from his dream passing through his mind.
“I’m fine.” Kanda says. It comes out as more of a squeak than he would like. Allen’s eyebrow quirks curiously, obviously having noticed Kanda’s stiffness. Kanda wants to get inside the building right now. He needs to get away from Allen’s prying gray eyes because he can feel his cheeks warming. “Let’s go, Lavi.” Kanda grabs Lavi by the collar of his shirt and starts to drag him towards the station door.
“Woah!” Lavi cries. He stumbles a bit to keep up with Kanda’s fast pace.
“Wait!” Allen calls after them. He quickly tries to follow.
“Go to school, Pipsqueak.” Kanda snarls over his shoulder at his Trigger. Go to school and get away from me.
“But -” Allen starts.
“We have work to do.” Kanda says coldly. Allen stalls in his pursuit.
“Oh…” He says, remembering their case and its importance. “Sorry.”
“Get to school safely!” Lavi says, waving back at Allen. Kanda growls angrily, the urge to flee only growing until he’s in the safety of the station lobby and all the residual colors from being near his Trigger fade. He can finally let out a breath of relief. The squeezing feeling in his chest dissipates. “What the hell was that for?” Lavi smacks Kanda sharply on the back once he let’s go of Lavi’s collar.
“You stopped me from working yesterday. We have shit to do today, and I am not going to spend my day idling around with that stupid Beansprout again,” Kanda rants. “Not when those killers are still out there.”
“Fine.” Lavi says. “Fine, Yu.” He puts his hands up in a sign of surrender. His eye and his hair are all back to shades of gray. It makes Lavi look bland in comparison to the vivid color Kanda now knows they actually are. The bright colors fit his partner well, better than the monochrome.
I want to see them again.
Kanda turns quickly on his heel and makes his way up to their floor.

i think you're probably tired of being reminded of your dgm fics but i was remodelling my house recently and while building the desk area i thought of the chapter in bookman where you describe the study and the books and the papers and the light. your fics rly shaped my life :) just wanted to let u know
I am absolutely never tired to hear about any fics I’ve written, especially when they’ve had such a beautiful impact on someone’s life! I hope that your remodel goes well and brings you happiness and inspiration!
Also, you might be shocked to learn that I often think about my dgm fics and have even fallen back on my obsession these past few weeks. Here is a picture from my desk right now !
Tumblr media
I’m actually considering maybe writing more of Bookman sometime, or just some dgm fic in general. I forgot how much I loved these characters!!
Anyway thanks again for the wonderful message! Stay lovely, anon!
Cheers, D

allen walker // trapdoor by twenty one pilots
He wakes up early today
Throws on a mask that will alter his face
Nobody knows his real name
But now he just uses one he saw on a grave …
Everyone gather around for a show
Watch as this man disappears as we know
Do me a favor and try to ignore
As you watch him fall through a bleeding trapdoor
kanda yuu // always something by cage the elephant
It’s always something before the late night
Around the corner, there’s always something waiting for you
Can’t hold their hands back, can’t make the sun rise
It’s always something, you know it’s always something
On your way back home again
Good to smear it in
You see a man stuck in the range, stranded with no friends
From the goodness of your heart, you saved him from the flood
A couple miles down the road, he’s covered in his blood
lavi bookman jr. // who are you, really? by mikky ekko
So you feel entitled to a sense of control
And make decisions that you think are your own
You are a stranger here, why have you come?
Why have you come, lift me higher, let me look at the sun
Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly, say
Who, who are you really?
And where are you going?
I have nothing left to prove
‘Cause I have nothing left to lose
lenalee lee // riot rhythm by sleigh bells
Dear heart, don’t stop fighting
Prepare, ride the lightning
It’s like heart-heart-heartbeat
Just like riot rhythm
tyki mikk // the evil has landed by queens of the stone age
A glamour cabaret
The last float on parade
‘Cause their swing got left behind
Every puzzle piece of mind
Handshake in facade
Play the fool or playing God
Just for God’s sake play along
Well, you can have a laugh, hit it
road kamelot // feasting on the flowers by fleetwood mac
Feasting on the flowers so fast and young
It’s a light so bright that I bite my tongue
I do and I don’t, well I do and I don’t, oh yeah
The next dimension, show me in
nea d campbell // not today by twenty one pilots
Oh, don’t you test me, no
Just because I play the piano
Doesn’t mean not
I’m not willing to take you down

I’m, I’m not seeing things right
I waste all this time trying to run from you
But I’m, I’m out of my mind
mana d campbell // a sadness runs through him by the hoosiers
He could not break surface tension
He looked in the wrong place for redemption
Don’t look at me with those eyes
I tried to unheave the ties
Turn back the time that drew him
But he couldn’t be saved
A sadness runs through him
alma karma // lotus flower by radiohead
There’s an empty space inside my heart
Where the weeds take root
So now I’ll set you free
I’ll set you free
chaozii han // i’m not even gonna pretend to recommend something for this bitch lol
miranda lotto // be calm by fun
Oh be calm.
Be calm.
I know you feel like you are breaking down.
I know that it gets so hard sometimes,
Be calm.
Take it from me, I’ve been there a thousand times.
You hate your pulse because it thinks you’re still alive
And everything’s wrong
It just gets so hard sometimes
Be calm.
arystar krory // stick to your guns by watsky
When you were knocking me like I’m a laughingstock
and a weakling a freak and creep, I was mocked and ignored
You’re sorry now but talk is cheap, shoulda thought it before
You’re the sorry flock of sheep who made me rot to core
pairings
tykillen // cigarette daydreams by cage the elephant
Cigarette daydream
You were only seventeen
So sweet with a mean streak
Nearly brought me to my knees
You can drive all night
Looking for the answers in the pouring rain
You wanna find peace of mind
Looking for the answer
If we can find a reason, a reason to change
Looking for the answer
If you can find a reason, a reason to stay
Standing in the pouring rain
yuulma // the fall by half-alive
I’d jump off and into your arms
But if I can’t trust the fall
Take my voice, I’m giving it though
I don’t feel safe at all
I can’t trust the fall
It’s like waking up in surgery
I can’t seem to see right past the lights and I’m
So scared to take a knife to my chest
Let you see the heart that’s inside
allena // kid who stays in the picture by hot hot heat
I remember when you used to laugh
Like in the day we used to hide
Like a deer in the headlights
I saw you give up the late nights
We were the sweet and the bitter
The kid who stays in the picture
Could have been you
It should have been you
It could have been you
It should have been you
It could have been you
laven // despicable by grandson
The goodbye is the hardest part
When we find ourselves back at the start
But I’m not so brave, and I’m not so smart, no
I’m doing you a favor, doing you a favor
One day you will understand
Why I pushed you away as I am
And you will find a better man than I am
Trust, I’m doing you a favor, doing you a favor
yullen // where to begin by adam watts
I don’t care, but I do
And I’ll say anything to get out of the way of you
To get out of the way of you
To get out of the way of you
And I don’t know where to begin
To breathe you again, to breathe you again
And I don’t know where to begin
To breathe you again, to need you again

Yuu Kanda
Kanda doesn’t sleep for enjoyment
And by that I mean he won’t go out of his way to sleep, like when he’s come back from a job he won’t just decide to sleep
He probably only sleeps because he’d probably die without it
His s/o is the only person in the world that gets him to sleep
He complains at first when you try and get him to sleep but after a few minutes(though all you have to do is ask him once and he’ll comply) he’ll come to bed
Definitely a big spoon
He can be hard to deal with when sleeping because he holds on to you tightly
It’s because he’s scared you’re going to leave
He prefers being the big spoon definitely but that doesn’t mean he has a problem with being the little spoon
He loves being little spoon because it’s one of the rare moments in his life when he’s allowed to put his guard down and just relax
There is a high probability that he prefers being the little spoon but he’d never say even though it’s pretty obvious
Allen Walker
If you want to get Allen to sleep it really isn’t that hard
All you have to do is pull him into bed and pet him and he’ll fall asleep in 10 seconds flat
Always goes between being the little spoon and the big spoon, though he has a preference for being a little spoon
The first time you and Allen sleep on the same bed together he takes up as little space as possible
With the way he grew up he got used to sleeping arrangements that didn’t give him much space
After sleeping in the same bed for a few more times he gets used to you pulling him closer to you that he now takes a bit more space than you would like
He likes getting as close to you as possible when sleeping
It makes him feel safe and comfortable
Lenalee Lee
Big spoon all the way
No question about that
She is an overall light sleeper but when she is sleeping with her s/o it’s almost impossible to wake her
Despite that, she wakes up almost immediately once she realizes her s/o isn’t in bed with her
So if you want to surprise Lenalee with anything in the morning you better take that idea and yeet it out the window
Lenalee normally wraps her arms around her s/o in a protective pose
You probably won’t be able to leave her arms until she wakes up and even then it’ll still be pretty difficult  to get our of her arms but why would you
Lavi
Is the most affectionate out of everyone no question
He goes for as much physical attention as possible as quickly as possible
He usually waits for his s/o to fall asleep before he falls asleep
There’s nothing more he loves more than being able to fall asleep with his s/o
It’s one of the few moments that he’s able to himself with his s/o without needing to worry (much) about being interrupted
He’s at his most vulnerable when he’s sleep so it takes a hot minute till you guys sleep in the same bed together
But once that happens he won’t be able to sleep without you
It’s comforting for him to have his s/o in his arms knowing that they’re there for him and they want to be there for him
Howard Link
Does he even sleep?
That’s a legitimate question
He’s very tentative when it comes to initiating physical contact if you sleep in the same bed as him
If you don’t initiate anything or hint at anything he won’t do anything but if you show any affection towards him he immediately becomes affectionate
He’s not extremely touchy
He won’t go as far as cuddling but he will do things like hand-holding or any subtle reassurance that you’re still next to him
It takes him a hot minute to fall asleep
He definitely falls asleep holding your hand
He’s just soft overall

@candy-crackpot, I was your gifter for the Laven Gift Exchange organized by @lavenlovers!! I am so honored to have been able to work on this for you! I hope you like it!
It’s freezing when Allen wakes up. He can barely feel his toes and he realizes they’re sticking out of the blanket. Whining under his breath, Allen pulls his feet back under the blanket, trying to find that deliciously warm position he had been in a couple of minutes ago. He can’t find it. And it’s because his boyfriend is not there for him to press his freezing toes against. Allen grumbles. He doesn’t want to open his eyes. If he opens them he won’t be able to go back to sleep.
Hoping to coax his boyfriend back to his side, Allen whines loudly. But after making extremely discontent noises for five minutes and absolutely no sign of Lavi, Allen mutters pathetically into his pillow and then sits up, his hair sticking out awkwardly.
The room is empty, but he sees a shadow out on the veranda. Allen sighs, grabs his socks and gloves and his exorcist uniform before shuffling out of the room and onto the veranda. Lavi is sitting there, his eyes distant as he stares at the immense expanse of snow stretched out in front of them. Allen thinks he remembers Lavi saying something about how it was snowing last night. Lavi is holding a notebook close to himself, scribbled lines in almost illegible handwriting there. His cheeks are red, kissed by the cold. He looks like he’s a part of the scenery, something Allen shouldn’t touch.
Lavi blinks and then turns to look at Allen.
“Allen,” Lavi murmurs and then he breaks out into a smile, shattering the detached feeling. “Good morning, did you sleep well?”
“What are you doing out here? It’s cold,” Allen says, frowning. To be fair, it’s hardly cold in his exorcist uniform. Allen has no idea what Komui does, but it works brilliantly.
“It just looks pretty,” Lavi says, jumping to his feet and shutting his notebook. Tim shoots out of the room and knocks straight into Allen’s head. Allen lets out a noise of surprise, slipping and then he pitches into the snow sideways.
“Tim!” Allen cries out indignantly, sitting up and covered in a layer of fresh snow. He’s officially ruined the untouchable feeling of the snow. And Lavi is laughing. At him. Allen narrows his eyes, takes a handful of snow, packing it into a crudely and hurriedly made snowball and smacks Lavi in the face, successfully shutting him up. Tim shoots down into the snow, creating a tiny path for himself.
Lavi sputters, wiping snow off his face.
“OK, you started it,” Lavi says. That’s all the warning Allen gets before Lavi jumps off the veranda and onto Allen, practically shoving Allen into the knee deep snow. Allen squawks and then pushes Lavi off of himself and rolls to the side, kicking himself up to his feet to attack with handfuls of snow. Lavi shrieks and starts shoveling snow at Allen with his arms.
It’s like they’re playing in water instead of snow.
Allen is glad that the small inn they stayed in for the night was clearly not awake yet.
Lavi’s golem is still inside the room, so Allen doesn’t need to pretend to be the responsible one and tell Lavi they need to head back to headquarters soon since they’ve finished their mission.
A foot slams into Allen’s chest and he goes back down into the snow, Lavi on top of him, screaming in mad delight. He’s saying something about how Allen let his guard down, but Allen can barely hear anything through all the crunching and wet noises of the snow Lavi is pushing down onto him.
Allen clicks his tongue, his left arm twitching and then Crowned Clown is all around him, pushing Lavi away and effortlessly helping him get rid of any snow on him.
“Cheating!” Lavi shouts. “Using your innocence is cheating!”
Allen grins cheekily.
“Oh? But you already knew I was a cheater,” Allen says, with an amused glint in his eyes.
“Crowned Clown is too much of an advantage!” Lavi snaps.
“How about you focus less on complaining and more on-” Allen uses Crowned Clown to help him gather snow, “-defending yourself!” Allen yells. Crowned Clown is indeed too much of an advantage. It helps him create a relentless barrage of snow balls. Lavi is shouting indiscernible things at him as he dodges, hurriedly attempting to build a wall of snow to protect himself.
“You wanna fight?” Lavi shouts from behind his flimsy snow wall.
“Oh?” Allen cackles. “Can you do that?”
The next moment an insane amount of snow is flung in Allen’s direction.
“Wha-” Allen uses Crowned Clown to move, but still manages to get smacked in the shoulder. He turns to look at Lavi who has his lips pressed together, a fierce look in his eyes. He’s using his hammer as a glorified giant shovel and catapult.
“Aren’t you trying too hard?” Allen asks.
“Aren’t you just getting scared?” Lavi quips back.
Allen decides not to dignify that with an answer and instead starts throwing more snow in Lavi’s direction. Lavi is more nimble with his hammer in his hands, using it both as a shield, a sword and a means of dodging.
“Stay still!” Allen says.
“How about no?” And then Lavi is hurtling in Allen’s direction. Allen startles, taken aback by the sudden change in attack and hesitates to use Crowned Clown for just a moment. That moment is all Lavi needs. His body crashes into Allen’s and they’re both falling into the snow. Lavi is laughing happily before Allen can think to attack with more snow.
Lavi seems content to just lie there with Allen in his arms so Allen stays still, his chest rumbling with a pleased chuckle.
“Are you cold?” Lavi asks Allen.
Not really.
“A little,” Allen says.
Lavi’s arms tighten around Allen and he dips his head down to kiss him. Allen hums and kisses Lavi back. Lavi buries his hands into the hair near his neck, deepening the kiss and stroking Allen’s nape with cold fingers. Allen’s skin breaks into goosebumps at his touch. He raises his arms to wrap them around Lavi, Crowned Clown deactivated.
It’s nice.
Just the two of them in the middle of some tiny nearly forgotten town in a hardly mentioned European country, surrounded by nothing but snow, sleeping trees and the rustle of a barely there breeze.
It’s easy to forget everything.
Allen puts their responsibilities and roles on the backshelf of his mind and indulges himself in Lavi - something they regularly can’t do.
Allen’s feels stupidly warm now, and that makes Lavi’s hands feel colder. But he ignores it in favor of kissing Lavi harder, shifting in the snow and digging his fingers into Lavi’s neck. Lavi gets colder far more easily than Allen does, but he has the habit of ignoring that feeling. Allen breaks away from the kiss for a moment to press kisses against Lavi’s jaw.
Then Tim rises up from the snow, clearly having been forgotten and spits out snow on their heads.
“Gah! Tim!” Lavi shrieks as snow goes down his collar. Allen sits up, pushing Lavi up with him. Lavi is cursing under his breath as he tries to scoop the snow up from his back.
“That’s Tim saying we should get a move on,” Allen laughs.
“Ugh, fine,” Lavi mutters. Lavi stands up and then helps Allen up. They try to dust snow off of themselves and fail to do so, so they simply track snow back into their room. Lavi’s golem is waiting there for them and they finally hear sounds of people in the inn waking up. Allen towels his hair and searches for a new pair of socks he could wear.
“Lavi, you’ve left something here,” Allen notices a small pouch that definitely wasn’t his by his bag on the floor.
“Hm?” Lavi leans over to look and his eyes widen. “Ah!” Lavi quickly snatches it up from the floor. “I hope it hasn’t gotten damaged,” he opens the pouch to peer in.
“What is it?” Allen asks.
“Do you want to see it?” Lavi asks with a knowing grin.
“No, absolutely not,” Allen says immediately.
“Aw, no need to be so reserved,” Lavi leans against Allen, arm on his shoulder.
“I’m not being reserved. I am genuinely uninterested,” Allen deadpans.
“This just so happens to be,” Lavi continues, ignoring Allen, “for you!”
“Huh?” Allen blinks. “Me?” he asks skeptically.
“Yes, for you!” Lavi opens the pouch fully so that Allen can see it. There’s a small earring there. It’s a dangly chain of sorts with a sphere at the bottom engraved with words from a language that Allen doesn’t recognize.
“An...earring,” Allen says as Lavi pushes it into his hands.
“Yes! I noticed even though your ears are pierced, you don’t wear anything. I wondered if there was a deep reason for that, but then you wore the radio device from the Asia Branch just fine,” Lavi says.
“I just...never thought of picking out jewelry for myself,” Allen picks the earring out of the pouch and notices how pretty it is. “I wore earrings for a job just before I joined the order and for some reason I’ve maintained the holes…”
“Well, know you can wear this!” Lavi nods, looking satisfied.
“Why?” Allen asks.
“Why wear the earring?” Lavi looks confused. “Why wouldn’t you wear the earring?”
“No...why would you buy something for me?” Allen asks. They’re not the gift giving kind of couple. They buy food for each other every now and then, but that was it.
“Hm,” Lavi scratches at his chin with his finger, something Allen knows him to do when he’s flustered. “Well, today so happens to be one year since the day we met,”
Allen remembers that day well. It was snowing outside, his left eye was barely healing, he had faced the demons with a new resolve thanks to Lavi.
“That’s something,” Allen murmurs, suddenly the gift seems to have much more meaning. It makes him feel...happy that Lavi would remember something as trivial as they day they first met. It wasn’t a monumental moment in their relationship. They had just simply, somehow managed to click together so easily on that first day, it felt like Allen had known Lavi all along. “I don’t remember the date at all.”
“Well, it’s a Bookman’s job to remember these things,” Lavi reminds him.
“Guess I’m the one that’s going to forget all our anniversaries,” Allen chuckles.
(Neither of them comment on the fact that they may not live long enough or last long enough to see those anniversaries together.)
“No worries, I’ll just remind you!” Lavi grins. “Anyways, we need to pack up and be on our way or Komui’ll nag at us!”
“We don’t want that,” Allen rolls his eyes. He leans up to kiss Lavi on the mouth lightly before going back to searching for dry socks.

So these are snippets in which you the reader can experience some lovely fatherly advice from Cross or can experience having Lavi and Allen as your rambunctious siblings. Suggestions are open. Triggers will be mentioned before every chapter. I want this to be more of a thing where people can look to for support. Or to feel like they are getting fatherly support in whatever situation they're going through. I will try my hardest to make each chapter ambiguous enough where it can include everyone so pronouns will be staying they/them unless there are very specific circumstances/situations.

Tyki turned back around, glancing at Lavi. “You know. If you’re open to it, there’s this site you could check out,” he suggested. “Pretty good if you want to take your mind off things.” Lavi’s gaze turned perplexed. He sat more upright, elbows beginning to turn sore against the hardness of the bar counter. “Um…what kind of site is it?” Allen caught on quickly, eyes widening in surprise. “That site?” He turned back to Lavi, smile broad. “Yeah, you should definitely check it out. I think it’d do you some good.” Lavi only grew more bewildered, as he looked between Allen and Tyki. “Wait, what site? Are you going to even tell me?” Tyki chuckled. He took his phone out of his pocket, quickly unlocking the screen and going to his message inbox. “Hold on – I’ll text you the link so you can see for yourself.” Tyki’s fingers moved at rapid speed, and soon, Lavi’s phone was buzzing in his pocket. He pulled it out, spying the new text alert from Tyki and opening it to view the website. Lavi’s green eye bulged as soon as he realized what it was. “A-a webcam site?” His voice jumped an octave, stunned by the reveal. He swallowed. “I mean. I don’t know-“

WIP Wednesday! 9/8/2021
Last month was not a very productive month writing wise, so that is why I didn't post any WIP Wednesdays last month. BUT this month I'm starting out pretty strong! Here is an excerpt from chapter 4 of my Soulmate AU (the excerpt isn't very long because I want to avoid any big spoilers):
Kanda lets his mind wander over and over the facts of this case and blocks out everything else. He doesn’t even notice when one o’clock becomes two, or when two o’clock becomes four in the morning. He doesn’t hear when the morning alarm on his phone goes off at five nor does he hear it when it buzzes at 5:30. He doesn’t register when the light coming through the police station windows brightens the floor with sunlight. He doesn’t even notice when the night shift leaves, and the day crew arrives. That is, until an arm lands heavily on his desk between him and the computer.
“What are you doing here, Yu? I specifically remember you high-tailing it out of here last night right when our shift ended.” Lavi says. Kanda looks up owlishly at his partner.
“Huh?” Kanda intelligently says.
“Dude, did you take Allen to the gym and then come right back here?” Lavi leans against Kanda’s desk. “Did you even sleep?”
“I’m fine.” Kanda regains his wits as the gears in his head mash together to start turning properly again after being so suddenly jarred off course.
“Look, I know what you’re like when you get in the zone, but you can’t ignore texts from your Trigger.” Lavi sighs. “You really got Allen freaking out.”
“What?” Allen texted me? Allen was worried for me? “When?”
“Apparently, he texted you several times this morning, but you never responded. He then called Lenalee who called me to come check on you.”
“You didn’t need to do that.” Kanda grumbles.
“I think I did.” Lavi says pointedly. “Anyways!” Lavi suddenly smiles, he starts to poke at Kanda forcing him to stand. “You should go home and shower. You’ve got a date with the Beansprout in an hour and a half, and you smell really, really bad, Yu. I mean it. You stink.”
“I have a what!?” Kanda digs his heels into the station’s linoleum floor as Lavi bodily pushes him towards the elevator.
“You’re picking Allen up in an hour from his apartment! Now hurry, smelly man!”
“But I can’t. I’m working on the case.” Kanda protests.
“Yes, yes. You’ve worked very hard. All night long. Please, take a break.” Lavi says dryly.
“But I’m not done.”
“You are for now.” Lavi has managed to maneuver Kanda to the edge of the bull pin. “Go out, see some colors. Then come back refreshed and ready to hit the grind, okay?”
“I-” Kanda tries again.
“No. Go.” Lavi points to the elevator as it dings open. Lavi blocks the entrance back to their floor with his body like he’s a linebacker. Kanda decides that he’s better off conceding. A rock and a hard place, Kanda’s innate stubbornness versus Lavi’s uncanny ability to be a complete nuisance. This time, Lavi won.
“Fine.” Kanda marches into the elevator. Lavi gives him a megawatt smile to which Kanda gives him the bird as the doors close.
It’s not until Kanda is back home in the middle of washing his hair when the whole situation hits him.
“A date!?” Kanda yells, voice echoing off the tile of his bathroom. It’s not a date. There’s no way. Probably just Lavi over exaggerating like usual.
But what if it is a date?
Kanda’s never been on a proper date. Though in recent years, Tiedoll had tried to set him up on a few blind dates. Kanda had always conveniently had to stop a prolific serial killer those nights. Duty to the people first and all that.
But it couldn’t be a date… Could it?
He doesn’t even know what Allen plans on doing on their maybe-not-a-date. What do people usually do on dates?
Kanda’s fingers get caught on a knot as they rinse the soap from his hair.
“Fuck.” He curses.
Kanda stands in front of his open closet looking at his array of black and gray and white clothes for far longer than he would ever say. He deliberates over and over about what he should wear. Are they going for brunch? Should he wear something nicer? Is just jeans okay? Are they going to be outside?
What is Allen going to wear?
He glances at the clock on his nightstand and notes that he has only fifteen more minutes till the time he is supposed to pick Allen up at. Kanda curses loudly and quickly grabs a pair of jeans and one of his nice button down shirts that Miranda had gifted him several years back. On his way out the door, he pulls his still-damp hair into a low ponytail at the base of his neck.
In his car he decides that this is definitely not a date. Kanda never went on any dates when Alma was alive, why would this time be any different? He didn’t count the times that sixteen year-old Marie would tote them to the local mall, Alma’s hand, clammy with excitement, tight in Kanda’s own. The pair of ten year-olds would run around the mall, ducking in and out of different stores. But they had been kids. Things like dates, and well, adult relationships had seemed so far away. He’d felt like he had forever with Alma to do everything and they were ten.
