Balancing the Scales
Author’s Note: To the Anon that requested this, I am SO SORRY it took me this long, but I hope you like it!!
Summary: A misunderstanding between you and your boyfriend of 10 months threatens to destroy what has been so carefully constructed. Is a patch possible or will the castle crumble?
Pairing:  idol!Jimin x animalshelterworker!reader
Rating: 18+
Genre:  light smut, fluff, established relationship, oneshot, angst, idol au
Word Count: 1,877
Warnings: 18+ MINORS DNI light biting, passionate grabbing, mentions of sex,
It's just a typical day at the animal rescue shelter that you work at when your life changes forever. You are determined that your eyes are playing tricks on you, but you know that smile anywhere!
Your bias from BTS, Jimin, is at the front desk asking where to sign in so he can look at the dogs. Once you shake off your freak-out fog, you practically push your coworker out of the way. She's Namjoon biased anyway; she can deal, right?
Once he fills out the sign-in form, you volunteer to show him around the facility while he tells you his pet preferences. The whole time, you feel like you are vibrating with excitement, but you keep your cool the entire time despite your ARMY heart threatening to give out any moment.
As you head up to the front, he tells you that there's such a good selection that he needs to think it over before he says, "Thanks for all of your help, y/n. Will you be here tomorrow? I don't really feel like re-explaining everything to someone else you know?".
This time, you aren’t able to prevent the flush that appears on your cheeks. Because even though it's work-related, Jimin CHOSE YOU; it's a step towards your dream so yay! You fervently nod your head, ignoring your coworker side-eyeing you.
You know you’re supposed to be off tomorrow, but you will be there no matter what; you have been in love with this man for years, so you will show up unpaid in uniform if it means you can be his little helper.
As soon as he leaves, your coworker agrees to let you pose as though you are on shift, and if he needs access you can't do since you aren't on the clock, she will help you out. You rush home after your shift to ensure everything is ready and clean at a good time so you can be well rested.
For the first time in your life, you wake up a half hour before your alarm from anticipation! You get ready and go in after getting some coffee and a breakfast sandwich at the café nearby.
After waiting for what felt like forever (maybe 2 hours), Jimin shows up with two coffees, which your nerves didn't need but you will accept of course. He insists on walking the whole facility again despite barely looking around, focusing on your words more intently than yesterday.
He says he wants your help figuring out which dog to go with but respects that the shelter closes soon. Naturally, he asks you, "Hey, I'm indecisive, but I know y'all close soon. So would you like to grab some boba with me and help me decide?".
At this, your coworker's jaw is on the floor while yours is trying to maintain normalcy. You grin and, with a shaky voice, say, "I…I'd be honored if you would prefer that over returning tomorrow. I mean, since you can't adopt once we close. Aish, what am I saying…you're a busy man, so let's go get this decided then!".
He can't help but giggle at your flustered state and logic. He knows he will need to return anyway, but if this gets him on a date with you, it's worth the extra trip.
Even though he decides on the brown and white cocker spaniel named Mandu in about 30 minutes, y’all spend hours at the boba shop talking about everything and anything.
This leads to many more meetings starting off as you helping him learn how to take care of and train Mandu, morphing into chill hangouts, and eventually, y'all making your relationship official.
Life is bliss and everything you could dream of until he starts acting strange. It begins with your dates becoming less frequent and Jimin seeming agitated more often than not when he is around you.
A week after your 10-month anniversary, you question your boyfriend, "Chim Chim, what's wrong? You can talk to me…If I did something, please tell me, yell, anything…”
He rolls his eyes, "Y/n, you didn't do anything, okay? Just had a lot on my mind lately. You wouldn't understand; you live a simple life." At this, tears well up in your eyes. "Ouch… I'm just trying to be supportive. Plus, just because I'm not an idol doesn't mean my life is a cakewalk.
You know how much I've struggled before and during being with you. Just because you're great doesn't mean our relationship hasn't also given me side effects. Do you realize how much hate and death threats I've gotten since I started going out with you???
Now, yes, your company is good at shutting them down and ensuring I'm safe, but it isn't fun to encounter. Not to mention you being around all those beautiful idols all of the time…
I know you care about me, but I look nothing like those people, and I am just worried that eventually you will see me the way I do and…don't look at me like that, I'm just saying.".
He just clenches his fists and pokes inside of his cheek with his tongue and responds with, "That's not fucking fair y/n. It's not like I caused those things or given you a reason to be insecure.
I thought I was helping you with anxiety and self-esteem, but I guess I was wrong. I knew this was too good to be true…" With that, he walks out of your apartment and starts the detachment.
It’s the longest month of your life. Feeling like a bother, you stop texting and hanging out with Jimin, partly to teach him a lesson and somewhat because he hurt your feelings. Despite his frequent attempts to meet up and talk things out, you shut him down or give one-word responses.
Feeling desperate, Jimin goes to your work to talk things out only to learn from Alice, your coworker from before, that you purposely changed your schedule so he couldn't just pop up. She also gives him the cold shoulder in solidarity, as she knows what happened.
As it happens, you pull in right as he departs down the road, and for a moment, you consider following him. You miss him but aren't sure you are ready to see him yet.
Fast forward a week, and Alice hits you up because she is tired of you being a homebody. You agree to meet up with her at a local café since you know that alcohol is not a good idea right now.
After waiting an hour and no sign of her or anyone else besides a couple of workers, you are about to leave when you look up from your phone only to see Jimin standing before you.
Gently resting his hand on yours, he pleads for you to give him 10 minutes, and if after that, you aren't convinced, he will never bother you again. He admits that he rented out the café and prepaid for your drink since he knows this is your favorite spot. In addition to the centerpieces being your favorite flower, he just wanted privacy with you in one of your safest places.
For the first 3 minutes, he is profusely apologizing, saying that there had been so many rumors about him and Nayeon recently that you bringing up other women just set him off because he thought you knew that you were the embodiment of beauty to him and never looked at anyone else.
Then he leans forward and rubs your arm for comfort as he sees tears about to fall down your cheek and continues, "Jagiya, I'm so sorry again. When I said, I had a lot on my mind that you wouldn't understand… I don’t mean that you've never had struggles. It was something that I was worried about but didn't know if you were too, but.. now it's time to find out, I guess."
You cock an eyebrow and wipe the tears from your face, "Just tell me, Mochi, I swear it's fine. Just be honest. It can’t be worse than what I’ve been imagining for the past month.”.
He leans back and lets a deep sigh escape his mouth, "Alright, here goes, I love you. I have been for months now. I realized it 2 months before the day I went off and hurt you, but I was worried about saying it too soon. So, I tried to shove the desire down, but it only made me angry because why has society dictated milestones?
If I love you, I should be able to say so whenever I feel it, right? Aish…anyway, when you said you knew I cared about you, it made me pissed again because I wanted to shout to the heavens how in love I was and am with you but didn't know if I should, so yeah….".
The timer goes off, and he sits up straight, staring at you with pleading eyes to say something. You are looking down, fidgeting with your fingers, and processing everything he just said. He goes to leave, taking your silence as a goodbye.
As he arises, you grab the sleeve of his sweater and stand up, saying, "I feel the same way, which is why everything hurt so bad, and I detached so abruptly. I wanted to tell you how I felt, too, but I was too scared of rejection, so I took that day as a sign to back off. “
His eyes go wide, "Oh…I…cool…I mean.. you know what I mean? I just feel like such a pabo (fool) and hope one day you can forgive me, but I get if no—" He is cut off by your lips crashing into his and smiling as he has wanted this for so long.
Once you detach for the sake of breathing, you hurry hand in hand to the public transportation stop, giving little pecks as you wait. Once you get on, you can't help but be stereotypical and sit in his lap. Y'all seem all tiny and cutesy to the others on the train.
Until you get home, and the second that the front door locks, he has you pushed up against the wall, leaving sloppy kisses along your neck and jawline before passionately devouring your lips in his until you are both gasping and trying desperately to hold on to anything to stay grounded.
As soon as y'all head into the bedroom, it's a race of who can get their clothes off faster. Honestly, you can't recall because the millisecond it happens, he has you trapped under him for who knows how long. He shows you with his body how much love he has for you, how sorry he is, and most of all, how much he missed you.
Once both of your bodies are spent, y'all indulge in a sweet bath. He carries you to bed, and you both fall asleep in each other's arms, drifting off to the best sleep of your lives, knowing that there is no more gray area in your relationship, nor will there ever be, because you both agree to communicate everything from now on; there's no way either of you can be apart that long again or would ever want to be.

Moonlight - Adam Sackler x Reader
Chapter 1 - Kid
Word Count: 5595
Warnings: Mentions of cheating, wet dream,
Author's Note: I've been hiding this fic for quite some time and I just thought it was finally time to post it. I hope you enjoy it. Just a little FYI this is a bit of a slow burn things don't pick up until chapter 3/4 soo.
__________________________
You were in your psychology class trying to pay attention, but you couldn't. You were spacing out. Thinking about all the things that you could have been doing instead of sitting there in class. You could have been at home catching up with that show you just started or learning that new recipe you found.
You see this 6'4 guy with long perfect hair with broad shoulders walk into the room. He had features of a god. He was gorgeous. He couldn't be a new student; it was already mid-semester. The school you attended was fairly small. You could've noticed him by now.
He looks around the room before he makes eye contact with you and starts walking in your direction. As he starts to get near you, he doesn't break eye contact. To him, you were a prize he was trying to reach.
Once he is right in front of you, towering where you were sitting, he grabs your chin and tilts it so you could see his face more clearly. "You'll soon get what you deserve, princess," he says in a seductive voice. He grabs you by your hand and pulls you out of your seat.
Dragging you out of the classroom to take you to the nearest closet.
As he opens the door, your anxiety rises, thinking about what might happen next. "Hey, aren't we going to get caught" you mentioned to him in a worried tone of voice.
He wraps his arms around your waist, bringing you in closer to him. "Do as you are told, and we won't get caught." He whispers into your ear.
The space between you and him got smaller. Things were getting steamy-

"Noooo, a couple more minutes, please." you yawned to yourself. It was a dream that you did not want to wake up from. You wondered who that person was and if you have met them somewhere.
As you reached over to grab your phone where your alarm was still going off, you checked the time, wanting to know if you could sleep for a couple more minutes to go back to dreaming about that person.
It was 7:30 AM, and your class started at 8:30 AM; usually, at this time, you were in the train station, but instead, you were dreaming about a man you have never seen before and wanting to get railed by him.
You rushed on getting ready, so you could catch a train before your class started.
---------------------------
New York City is one of the busiest cities globally, also a city that you have always wanted to live in since you were a kid.
When you and your best friend Amelia got accepted into NYU, you decided to live in the same apartment. Both of you wanted to experience everything together.
You have lived there for six years, and no matter what, there is always something new to discover, it could be a new fashion store that opened or a new McDonald's, cause there is a need for a McDonald's in every corner.
This is your last year of Graduate School at NYU. You were so tired of this, and you just wanted to graduate already.
After all your classes are over, you and Amelia would always meet at Café Grumpy to occasionally catch up and leave the house. You enjoyed the coffee and food from there.
Every time you went inside there, it smelled like fresh coffee, and Ray was always there as well. "Hello, welcome back to Café Grumpy, the usual, right?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
"Good afternoon, Ray, and yes, the usual." you snapped your fingers as you agreed to what he said.
You have known Ray for the past couple of years; you never knew him personally. But you two did exchange a couple of interactions. He would always be the one to prepare your coffee and Amelia's. You probably had more mental breakdowns in that shop, something that you were not proud of. Since Ray was much older than you, he would be there for you and give you the best advice he could.
You were spacing out. You hear Ray's voice. "Are you feeling better? I know it's been a rough couple of weeks since that break up with Oscar," he hands you your cup of coffee and Amelia's. Oscar was the guy you have dated for the past 2 ½ years but recently broke up with him because he was cheating on you.
A frown formed on your face. You didn't like remembering Oscar and what he did to you. "I'm doing fine; he didn't deserve me anyway. I was too good for him." There was a small sigh when you said that.
Amelia was walking towards where you were sitting at "That is correct. He never deserved a lovely, funny, realistic girlfriend like you. Even from the start, he didn't deserve you." she sounded straightforward and positive in what she said.
She always knew what to say to make your day. "Amelia, always telling me something I don't know" there was a sass on your tone. Your relationship with Oscar was toxic to the point where you forgot your self-worth and only focused on pleasing him. But after catching him cheating on you, it made you realize how strong of a person you were and how you didn't need him in your life.
"She's right, you know; any guy would be lucky to have you" Ray was smiling as he was handing you a breakfast sandwich. "just to let you know this is on me, I'll pay for you and Amelia's food and drinks. But don't get used to it because I won't be doing it all the time."
You weren't sure how to respond to what Ray has said, so you just decided to give a detailed response "hah, keep saying that, and I'll stay single for a while," you chuckled as he told you that. "Also, thanks, we'll repay you." you were grateful that Ray did that for you and Amelia once in a while.
What you told Ray made you think, were you going to be single for a while, or are you going to find someone right away. But then again, you wanted to love yourself before you loved someone else.
---------------------------------------
After hours of just talking to Amelia and Ray, it was time for you to head home. It was getting dark, and you had homework to do.
Afternoons were your favorite time to walk around because of the sunsets. No matter how long you have lived in New York, you would have always taken pictures. By now, your gallery was full of those sunsets instead of images with your friends or family.
You lived in Manhattan, probably the cheapest place in New York you could find. The apartment wasn't that big; it had two bedrooms, one bath, a small kitchen and living space, and a balcony that connected your bedroom to Amelia's. It was big enough for two people to live in. It was decorated very minimalistic; of course, some of the landscape pictures you took and some portraits that Amelia has painted throughout the apartment.
Looking through the cabinets and through the fridge, you noticed you had all the ingredients to make chicken alfredo with mashed potatoes" Hey, are you craving chicken alfredo with some mashed potatoes?" You were taking out the ingredients to make the food. You were the one to cook all the time since you enjoyed cooking and did not mind cleaning the mess afterward. "Even if you're not, I'm still making it because I am craving it."
Amelia was browsing through Netflix, trying to figure out what to put "whatever you want to make, you know I'll shove it down my throat."
Your phone that was across the table started to ring. As you picked it up, you saw the name Oscar. Your heart started to beat fast. You had a blank stare as you watched your phone just ring.
Amelia notices your blank face, "Is it Oscar again? Gosh, when is he going to leave you alone" she rolls her eyes. She starts walking towards you to see if you need any comfort or if you wanted her to answer.
"Yeah, it's him. Can you answer the phone for me? I'm not sure if I can talk to him" you gave her your phone.
This was not the first time he called after the breakup. Usually, you would just ignore the calls. This time it was different because of the talk you had earlier with Amelia and Ray. The thought of you giving someone everything just for them to go behind your back to do that was a scary thought.
While your mind wondered with all these thoughts, you could hear Amelia just yelling at the phone. Telling Oscar to leave me alone and just to let the relationship we once had go.
Hearing him argue with Amelia in the other room made you want to curl up in bed. But instead, you just sucked it up and started making the food because the food will never hurt your feelings or cheat on you.
Amelia walks into the kitchen and places the phone on the counter. "He is such a jerk. I still don't understand how you decided to date him. Out of all the people in New York, you decided to spend two and ½ years with him." She was rambling on how much she disliked Oscar. You zoned out, not wanting to pay attention to what she was saying.
"I don't understand either, but hey, can we just talk about something else; I need a distraction."
While you were finishing the food, Amelia was still browsing through Netflix, trying to find something the both of you could watch.
Amelia gives you a look of regret as you approach her with the food. "I'm sorry that I exploded on you about Oscar. What he did was unacceptable. I hate seeing you hurt over a stupid guy," she mentions as you give her a plate of food.
There was a small pause in between as you sat next to her. "It's okay, Amelia. I'm hurting over a dumb boy."
Once you finished your homework and the movie that Amelia put on the TV, it was already nighttime. Your mind wanders back to the dream you had. Who was this guy, and have you seen him before.
Amelia had her bed, but sometimes she would come over to your bed and sleep with you. Especially during times like this, where you needed her company. Amelia was scrolling through Instagram, trying to find new inspiration for her latest painting. "Hey, Amelia, do you know if we know anyone that is around 6'4 that had perfect shaggy hair?" you asked her, trying not to make it obvious that it was a dream.
She got up and sat up quickly as you caught her attention "oh, so now we have a new lover, and it's not been two months past your breakup" she was looking at the way you would react to her saying that. But your face was not showing any signs that you might have met someone new or even talked to someone new. You looked confused, and all you wanted answers. "Hey, don't look at me like that. We both have a busy life outside of these four walls, you don't expect me to know every single move that you do, and no, we do not know anyone that fits that description."
"Oh, okay, just asking" you wanted to drop the topic as fast as you could. "We should go to sleep. I have work tomorrow, and you do too"
You turn off the lights and proceed to go to bed.
---------------------------------
"Such a naughty girl, listening to what daddy wants to do, does it turn you on being here in the closet with me at the university you attend at huh."
It seemed like it picked up right where it left off. Oddly enough, it was the same guy you dreamt of last night.
You stood there quietly as you tried to analyze his beautiful face.
He proceeds to tell you all the things he wants to do to you. "I want you to get on all fours and not make a sound," he whispers into your ears; as he does that, he wraps his big hand around your throat.
You nodded your head in agreement "yes. I'll stay as quiet as I need to-"

"Ugh, not again." This time, you woke up on time. When getting ready, you decided to wear something that hugged your curves perfectly—a turtleneck shirt with a cardigan and a nice pair of jeans with some heels.
On the days you didn't have class, you worked as a secretary at a lawyer's office, it was not your dream job, but it did pay you well. Your boss was chill about you going to work a couple of minutes late. She knew how busy the streets could get, and if you were able to pass by a coffee shop and get her coffee, she would forgive you for your delay.
As you were walking the same route, you wanted to catch up on some of your reading. The people around you were too focused on making sure they got to their destination on time instead of focusing on whether you were on their way.
Out of sudden, you bump into with 6'4 man, "Hey, watch it Ki-" he froze. To him, you were the most beautiful person he has ever seen.
You panic. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you," you were trying to gather yourself. As you made eye contact with him, you noticed that he had the same features as the guy you have been dreaming about. But seeing him in person, he was more attractive.
We stared at each other for a couple of minutes.
"umm yeah, it's alright kid, are you new around here? I have never seen you before" He looks at you like there's nothing else around but you. He looks up and down, looking at how perfectly your outfit hugged your curves. "Can I just mention that you are gorgeous and hot, wow"
You smiled and tucked in your hair behind your ear "thank you" This was the first time you have ever gotten a compliment in a very long time; you were unsure how to react. "Yeah, I have been here for a couple of years. I mean, it's a pretty big city. I doubt that you would have ever seen me" You never thought you would imagine that the guy you were dreaming about would live in the same city you did.
There was a small pause in between what you had said, "Is there a place that you need to be? I can walk you there. I want you to get there safely" He insisted on taking you to work. He didn't show any signs of being a creep, so of course, you agreed that he could walk with you.
The whole time you walked together, it was quiet, but having his presence next to you, was calming. It was odd. You have never felt this calm next to a stranger.
As you both get to the building that you worked at, "Hey, I know that we haven't known each other for long, and this walk was quiet, but I would like to get to know you." You scanned his face to see if he was lying or just trying to be weird. But no, he was genuine. "I would love to take you out to get coffee sometime if that's okay with you" He looked unsure if he wanted to ask you that. Maybe it was the fear of rejection.
You had a small smile on your face. You wanted to know him as well. "So far, I've enjoyed our quiet walk, and It would be lovely to grab a cup of coffee sometime" You take out some sticky notes and a pen from your purse and start writing down your number with a little heart next to the last digit. "Here, take this, don't blow up my phone, or I'll block you, okay" You hand him the sticky note with a smirk on your face.
The moment you mentioned a number, that's when his face lit up with the most dorkish yet cute smile. "Aye, Aye, Captain, I can't make any promises that I won't."
Walking towards the building, you felt like someone was watching you. You turn around to see who it might be, and it was him. He wanted to make sure that you go into the building safely. Then you realized that you didn't even know his name and how you gave him your number in a heartbeat. That was the dumbest thing you have done. But what is the worst he can do? He didn't know your name either. He can probably just send it to spam callers.
Either way, you didn't regret giving him your number.
Deep down, you thought, 'he'll never text me or call me. He was just nice by walking me to work. I'll never get to see him again.' Before you enter your shift, you text Amelia every time you get there, so she knows you got there and nothing happened to you on the way. You didn't tell her that you met this guy and that you willingly gave him your number. To you, it didn't matter. It's not like you were going to see him again.
Hours go by. It was already the end of your shift. You said your goodbyes to your boss and coworkers.
As you check your phone, you notice that there were three new messages from an unknown number. You took a deep breath as you unlocked your phone, thinking it was probably spam messages or reminders that you needed to pay your bills.
2:12 PM Hello Kid, it's me, that rando that walked with you
2:30 PM, please tell me this is your actual number and not some random person's number
3:23 PM, it probably is, well, shit. But if it is yours, call me when you get out of work. I want to go ahead and buy you coffee.
Reading those messages brought a smile to your face. Even without knowing his name, it made you happy that he texted you.
Your heart is racing as you call him, thinking that he isn't going to pick up.
"Hey kid, so you didn't give me a random person's number, huh" You could hear the excitement in his voice through the phone.
"Hello there, actually no, this is a random person's number, you got fooled" there was a small giggle that came out.
He went along with what you said, knowing for sure it was you and not someone else. "darn it. Either way, is this random person willing to grab some coffee in about 10 minutes."
"She accepts, and she will be waiting for you to come. Don't be late. I don't like it when people are late and especially when it comes to my coffee."
"Aye, Aye Captain, I won't be late, not even a second late."
"I'm holding your word to that, hah."
When you hung up the phone, you had the biggest smile on your face. The thoughts of 'how come this nameless person was able to make me feel this way' were going through your head. It felt like you were a teenager with a high school crush. This was a new feeling to you. You never experienced having these emotions over some guy.
Eight Minutes pass by, and you see that 6'4 gorgeous man was walking outside of the building you work at, waving his hand trying to catch your attention. You grab your bags and start walking towards the door. Before you could push the door, he opens it for you. "Thank you" You lock eyes with him, and that feeling from earlier where nothing matters came back. The sound of cars honking and people walking by didn't matter because it was only you and him.
"You are very welcome. There's a new coffee place that opened up not that long ago that I want to take you". He points to the left, and of course, there was a big sign on the shop saying, 'NEW LOCATION' You agreed to go with him, and you didn't care where you two went. All you wanted to do was spend time with him.
Both of you were walking to the coffee shop, and it was relatively small and very casual. There was loud music playing in the background. He opened the door for you, and inside, it smelled like fresh coffee. The inside was beautiful. The tones were very earthy and brown colors. Even if you didn't come with him, you would have loved to be in this place. It felt like home. While you two were getting in line, you finally asked him the question that has been in your head all day. "Something that has been bugging me is that I'm here grabbing coffee with a person that I don't even know; you might be a murder or a cat person, and I wouldn't even know your name."
He makes a facepalm motion when he realizes that you were right. You didn't know his name, and he didn't know yours. "shit, you are right. I haven't even told you my name. It's Adam."
Adam, why was that so fitting for him. You never thought that this beautiful man would have the most straightforward name. You loved his name already. You tell him your name, and the way he reacted was the cutest. "So that's the captain's name. To be fair, that is a beautiful name." You had a smile, and your cheek turned into a rosy color. You never thought that he would react to your name like that, mainly because he could have met a lot of people with that same name.
To him, your name meant more than just a random person's name. He didn't care if other people had the same name as you. He only cared about knowing your name.
The line got shorter, and it was your time to order what you wanted to drink. You look over the menu, and the most appealing drink you could see was a Macchiato. That was your safe drink when it came to new coffee places.
As you look over the menu, Adam stares at you, the way your eyebrows are shaped, the way you look so concentrated on reading every word on the menu. As before bumping into you, you were still the most beautiful person he has ever seen. "Are you ready to order what you want?"
Looking over the menu one more time, just making sure that a Macchiato was something you wanted. "I think so. I'll probably just want a macchiato, something simple."
"Do you want anything to eat? It's probably been hours since you have last eaten," he says in a concerning voice.
Even though you were hungry and wanted to order something to eat, you didn't want him to waste more money on you. "No, that would be it. I can probably get something to eat on the way home. Thank you, though. I appreciate it."
While waiting for the drinks to be ready, you two go sit down. It was quiet for a while before they called Adam's name to go and get the drinks. Hearing his name just brightened your day. You thought, 'I don't think I would ever get tired of hearing his name.' As he walked in your direction, you can't help but notice how big his hands were.
"Here is the macchiato for the lady" While you grab your cup of coffee from his hands, you notice how small your hand looked compared to his. "now that we are here, tell me about yourself." He wanted to know everything about you, from what you like to eat to what you like to do in your free time.
"Well, I'm in my last year of graduate school in NYU, getting my Human Development and Social Intervention Master's degree, gosh that was a handful to say. I work at a law office." There was a pause as you were trying to think of things you did in your free time. "There's nothing that exciting about my life, really." All you did was go to work and school. It made you realize how it has been a cycle your whole time you were in here.
With the facial expression, you can tell that he wanted to say 'really,' but instead, he said something else. "That sounds like some bull. Getting a degree in Human development or some shit like that is quite interesting" he was interested in what you were saying. "Also, I doubt that is all you do. There must be something else, a hobby? A show you enjoy watching." He did not believe one bit that your life could be boring.
Talking about yourself was not something you did on a day-to-day basis. So when Adam started asking these questions, it was really hard for you to think about it. He was the first person to ask you to talk about yourself in a very long time. You were unsure what to tell him, as you were stirring your coffee with a spoon, trying to figure out what to say. He grabs your hand that was just resting on the table. "It's okay if you don't want to tell me. If you don't feel comfortable telling me it's cool, I understand" He was reassuring you that you didn't have to tell him anything you didn't want to.
He still holds your hand, making sure that you are comfortable around him. He didn't want to mess things up with you. He wanted to flirt with you and kiss you, but he also wanted to make sure you were comfortable.
The place started to get packed, and the walls felt like they were closing in on you. You began to feel claustrophobic with the number of people around. "Adam, can we leave the place and walk around?" You needed to get out of the place before more people came in.
He grabs your bag and helps you get up from the chair. You started to walk forwards, and even though you couldn't see him, you could feel his presence behind you. As you both left the shop, you turned around to make sure he was right behind. You wait for him as he catches up to you. You go ahead and wrap your arm around his. He had a slight smile when you did that. "I'm sorry for not answering your questions. Usually, no one asks me to talk about myself, so I'm unsure what to say."
He understood, and he was in the same boat as you. No one asked him to talk about himself either. If you were to ask him, he would freeze just like you did. "It's alright, kid, let's take you home. It's getting late" This was the second time he walked you to your location. He wanted you to get home safely and wanted to stay with you for a longer time.
This time it wasn't a quiet walk, you joked around with him, and he joked around with you. The way you both talked, it seemed like you knew each other for years and not only for a day.
You were the first girl he didn't want to take home and hook up with. You were different, he wanted something new, and he wanted to experience it with you.
You were outside the building of your apartment, and you see Amelia run towards you and Adam. "Where were you, it's past 6:30, and you are usually here earlier. I was about to set an Amber Alert on your ass" She hugs you ignoring the man next to you. As she lets go, she finally notices him and gives him a perplexed look. She pulls you away from Adam. She didn't know him. She thought he was some creep just trying to get to know where you lived. "You can go now. You don't need to walk her in." She had a disgusted look on her face while she made the shoo motion.
You were embarrassed that she was acting that way. Usually, she wouldn't mind if a guy walked me home. You gave Adam a look that you were sorry. "I'm so sorry. I never thought this would be the way you two meet. Amelia, this is Adam" You had a frustrated look on your face. You didn't want Amelia to know about Adam until you were sure that you wanted to talk to him for a while. 'I guess faith has another plan for me, instead of letting me do my own thing.' Instead of keeping that thought to yourself, you said it out loud without even knowing that you did.
Adam and Amelia both heard what you said and giggled.
Adam stares at you like he had the heart eyes emoji on his face. Amelia noticed how he was looking at you and decided to walk into the building, so you and he would have a moment together. You knew the moment you entered the apartment, she would be asking you a ton of questions. The idea of going home felt like a nightmare, but that's where your bed was at, so you didn't have a choice.
After what happened between the three of you, you were unsure if he ever wanted to talk to you again. If it was you, after that, you would have just run the opposite way. He could feel that you were worried. "If you think that Amelia scared me away from you, you thought completely wrong." He wraps his arms around you, and you hug him back. Feeling his warmth was one of the best feelings in the world. You were so much tinier than him, so hugging him felt like you were hugging a bear. After a couple of more minutes, letting him go was hard. Adam looks up and notices that Amelia is looking down to where you and he were standing. "It's getting late, and I can see that someone is creepily watching us." You look up, and you see the same thing that Adam did. You both giggled that Amelia wasn't trying to hide that she was staring at the both of you.
Watching him walk away made you sad. You wanted to spend more time with him.
Entering the apartment, Amelia rushed to open the door before you could. She had a ton of questions ready for you on a notepad. You took her hand and walked towards the couch. The questions went from “where did you meet him? How did you meet him?... etc.” You answered every question, even though you really didn’t want to. “So you met him, and you didn’t plan on telling me” she grabbed the pillow that was right next to her and smacked you with it. You went ahead and grabbed a pillow next to you and started to have a pillow fight.
Hours passed by, you finished your homework, your readings, and finished cooking dinner. As you are getting ready to go to bed. All you could think about was him, how sweet he was to you, how beautiful his face was, just the thought of Adam. Your phone starts to ring as these thoughts continue. You look over to your phone to see who it was, and it was Adam.
There was noise in the background. It sounded like there was construction going on. “Hey Kid, what are you doing up so late? Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
“Hey Goof, Fun fact I was about to go to bed, but you called, meaning that you interrupted me from going to bed.” You were tucking yourself to bed at this moment.
“I’ll just buy you coffee tomorrow.” He mentions in a sweet tone of voice.
“I hate that you have only known me for a day and already know that I love coffee” It was the opposite. You didn’t mind if he knew that you enjoyed drinking coffee. Instead of just remembering how your body was shaped, he would remember you by something you enjoyed drinking.
Adam was thinking about you before he decided to call you. He missed you. He missed the way your voice sounded. “I’m going, being honest with you, I was just thinking about you, and I thought I would call you.”
Did that comment just make your heart flutter? Yes, indeed it did. It’s crazy how in just one day of meeting Adam, you never felt happier. He made you feel things that you thought you’d never feel again.
You both talked for an hour straight, just talking about the tv show you were just watching; meanwhile, he was talking about wanting to build a boat in his apartment. But no matter what, you never have that awkward pause in between topics.
Once the call ended, It made you realize that this was just the beginning and that it would be a bumpy road ahead. But it didn’t matter because it was with him.

Jerome met the reader at the circus ... They spend the evening together (well, maybe have sex)? And then the reader leaves Jerome (he gives her his grey coat, what a gentleman) and comes back the next day, only to find out that he killed his mother and is sitting in Arkham. A year goes by (like in the show, I guess?) and the next time the reader meets Jerome, he’s on the bus with the cheerleaders and of course Jerome remembers her! ;) Is that too much? ;-;

Tumblr media
It was late, something after midnight already.
You both, Jerome and you, still laid in his bed fully covered in sweat thinking back about what has happened before, all the feelings, the pleasure... Everything.
Your clothes laid strayed on the ground; your underwear laid next to the bed while your shirt and pants laid elsewhere in any corners of his room.
Jerome had wrapped is arm around your waist to comfort you whilst you rested your head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. It was even and slow.
"That was great, wasn't it?" Jerome broke the silence between you with a slight chuckle.
"Indeed," You chuckled "It was worth it."
"It was. Haven't met a girl that could give that good blowjobs."
"Jerome!" You slapped his chest in embarrassment widening your eyes, a strong blush went over face. You were a little shocked about his assertion, but otherwise you felt honored.
"No need to be embarrassed (Y/N)," Jerome chuckled caressing your side "You could see it as a compliment. I'd choose you over others."
"U-uhm...Thank...you? I feel...honored." You mumbled in embarrassment.
"You're cute when you're shy like that." Jerome smirked, sitting up and took a cigarette from his nightstand and lightened it to smoke.
You hummed saying nothing, just gave him a little smile.
You liked it how he called you cute, and that he liked your shyness. It gave you some hope that maybe that this, between you and him, could turn into something more than just a simple one off. All the sweet nothings he whispered into your ear, all the compliments and intensive kisses... That couldn't come just out of nowhere. You had the feeling something was special between you two; you couldn't say what it was though. All you knew was: you felt different in Jerome's near. It was like you two would know each other for ages.
While Jerome was smoking his cigarette off, his smoke spread through the room that you inhaled it. It didn't bother you, you were used to it from home.
You think took your phone out of the pocket of your pants to behold the clock: 00:37
Time for you to go, you needed to get ready in a few hours for your work.
"Anyways, I think it's time for me to go. Need to stand up early," You sighed grabbing your underwear to take them on "You know, work and such."
"Awww really?" Jerome gave you a little pout while admiring your body for one more time "I enjoyed the time with you."
Again he viewed you from head to toe, admired your curves and your flawless pale skin. His view was giving him chills again and he had the urge to touch again. He missed this feeling of your soft skin, this incredible feeling of him inside you making you moan, or the feeling when you dug your nails in his back because he pleasured you well.
"Me too," You giggled and pulled your pants up to buttoned them, then taking your shirt on "But yeah, I don't wanna be late. My boss becomes mad if anyone's late."
"How's your boss when he's mad?" Jerome asked with a certain leery undertone mixed with jealousy.
He looked at you frowning, his breathe became uneven, he kinda seemed to be upset like if you say a wrong word he's about to explode.
It confused you a little, but you didn't give a shit about it. You thought you maybe were just imagining this jealousy. How could he be jealous anyway? He didn't know you at all so he had nothing to loose when you go.
"Let's say you don't wanna mess around with him. He can be a little scary." You took your shirt on. Now though it wasn't as tight as usual anymore because Jerome tugged it from your body.
"Is he touching you?" Jerome gave you a stern look, his tone became rougher what confused you even more.
"Oh no. No, no, he's just yelling and he hears grudges." You turned to him "It's just annoying, that's all."
"Alright," He nodded standing up to take his boxers on "But wait, before you go..." Jerome walked to his wardrobe taking out a dark grey coat handing it to you "Here, it's cold outside."
"Thank you, but you don't-..."
"It's fine, you can keep it," Jerome smiled "See it as a little reward for the gorgeous night." He winked at you making you blush.
"Thank you." You smiled at him taking his coat on. You smelled his cologne, it smelled like any usual cologne but knowing that it was his made it special.
You both walked to the trailer's front door.
Jerome opened the door, you walked a few steps but turned around to face him. With a smile. You looked at his beautiful shining blue eyes for one last time. More and more you recognized that you liked him. You realized that you've never felt this huge amount of comfortableness and happiness. Sure, in an another relationship you've been happy, too, but not as much as with Jerome.
It was strange, very strange. You couldn't understand how you'd be so attached to a stranger. Maybe it was because Jerome was the perfect guy in your eyes and something gave you the feeling that you two belonged together?
"Well, then," you kissed his cheek quickly "See you around, Jerome."
"See you around, (Y/N). Hope to see ya again." One last time, he gave you this amazing smile before he shut the door.
With a little smile you walked out of the circus. You couldn't wait to visit the circus again to meet Jerome and have an amazing time together.
***
Days went by.
You couldn't stop thinking about Jerome - how kind he was to you, how good he treated you, and let's not forget about the sex, of course. The sex was amazing.
Though you still had his coat. You know you couldn't keep it, you wouldn't feel right about it.
Due to different circumstances, the circus was still in your city. On the one hand, you were curious about the reason why. Maybe there were some complications with travelling? Or maybe they did an extra show and had a lot of work to do to prepare for the show?
On the other hand, all your thoughts focused in Jerome. You were excited: you imagined to hug him, talking to him, laughing with him... Everything you wanted to do when you were able to see him again.
You made your way to Haly's circus with Jerome's coat.
As you arrived, everything seemed to be normal. The circus tent was still constructed, the trailers stood still on the same places as on the day where you visited the show, and the artists still walked around the yard.
You looked around to find someone you could talked to and who you didn't bother; then you saw the Ringmaster who was taking his rings to pack them into his case.
He was a tall colored man with some kind of clown makeup: red cheeks. white makeup was smeared around his face and a fake beard was glued on his upper lip. He was wearing a red suit and a black tophat.
"Hey, uhm...excuse me?" You hesitatingly tapped on his shoulder.
"Hm?" He turned to you with a grunt "The circus is closed for visitors. There ain't be a show today."
"Oh, I know but," as the Ringmaster was about to turn around, you grabbed his arm and turned him back to you "I was just looking for Jerome. He gave me his coat a few days ago and I wanted to give it back."
"Oh, haven't you watched the news? Jerome's in Arkham-..." You widened your in shock, you hoped you haven't heard it right.
"Wait, wait, wait...he's what?!"
Arkham?! Has he really said 'Arkham'?! The asylum where murderers, cannibals and other lunatics are living in?! What is he doing there?! Why is he in Arkham?! What has he done to be busted in there?! These were the thoughts that couldn't get out of your head. Jerome was a criminal? How could he?! He was so kind to me, so polite...was that all just acting? Did he play with my mind?
"He killed his mother with a hatchet. You might know her as the snake dancer." He sighed shaking his head slightly while he kept packing the rings in his suitcase "Let's just hope she didn't have a painful death."
"A-alright...t-thank you..." In shook and disgust, you slowly walk back to your car.
You couldn't believe what you've heard. Jerome was a killer: a blood-thirsty, psychotic and cold-hearted killer. You felt poor, you had the feeling you were about to throw up every minute. You slept with him and you liked it...you even wanted to meet him again!
You were disgusted by yourself.
Now you just wished that you could have changed the past; that you've never slept with him, never let him kiss nor touch you...that you've never even talked to him! You just wished that as he bumped into you, that you ignored him or snapped at him that you and himwoukd have never dealt with each other - everything.
***
*1 year later*
It was a rainy and cloudy day in Gotham.
It was cold, your window panes were fogged through the high temperature difference between your room and outside. In your room, it was warm and comfortable while outside it was cold, almost as cold as in winter.
You were just sitting on the couch eating some sandwiches, drinking a Coke in the hope something new and excited happened in your life.
This day was bearing you down, you didn't know why though. Maybe it was just the weather? You had no idea. You just felt empty inside since last year. And you exactly knew why.
You still couldn't believe the fact Jerome was a killer. You couldn't imagine how an actual kind and smart boy with a gorgeous smile, ginger hair, blue eyes and some abs could grab a hatchet to kill his own mother. You just wished it was a lie and that reality played a bad game with you. For sure, you didn't know Jerome completely, you've just met him once but still you could say that this all felt so wrong.
It was the disgust that caused this feeling. You were disgusted by the thought that you allowed a murderer playing with your mind to get in your pants while he was about to murder something behind your back. You were disgusted by the thought that you imagined you and him being a couple, that you wanted to date him... You were disgusted by everything that included him because it reminded you of all this. When you just heard the name Jerome, you felt shivers down your spine and a feeling mixed of disgust and feeling poor.
One thing that confused you was: you couldn't throw his coat in the trash can. You kept it, it hung in your wardrobe and you smelled on it every day because his cologne was still buried in it, then you remembered the gorgeous night you had with him and all the feeling you felt...But then you remembered who he really was and what he has done right after the meeting of you which caused you to close your wardrobe fast and walking out of our room to quickly forget all that - day by day.
Full of boredom, you turned the TV on hoping something could entertain you there.
But then you saw this:
"Hello, Gotham City! We're the Maniax and I'm Jerome, the shot caller of our little gang. We're here to spread the message of wisdom and hope!"
You couldn't believe your eyes. It was Jerome with a bloody nose who cackled shortly, then shot a cop because he coughed and groaned in pain - he apparently disturbed his little show. He was back, he escaped out of Arkham.
Your body was shaking, your breathe was uneven - you were paralyzed.
You started panicking. No place felt safe for you anymore, especially not your little apartment. You needed to be with someone. You thought, when you're alone you'd be fucked. Maybe he remembered you and wanted to look for you? You remembered that he told you, he'd choose you over others. Of course, they could have been just words but now you never know... He was a psycho who might remember everything.
"Some people have no manners." He took a deeper look in the camera "You're all prisoners. What you call sanity, it's just a prison in your minds that stops you from seeing that y'all are a just tiny little cogs in a tiny absurd machine! WAKE UP!"
Jerome yelled in the TV what made you flinch and you curled up in your couch wrapping your arms around your legs tight. Your face was half hidden being your knees that you were still able to watch his little show - but with fear.
"Why be a cog? Be free like us!" Jerome started to cackle "And just remember, smile" he cackled squishing the dead cop's cheek while cackling louder.
Then you heard horns honking, the police was haunting him.
"Oh, time to go!" He crawled down do the ground taking a police head on and still held the camera tight "But dont worry, we'll be back very soon! Hang onto your hats folks, 'cause you ain't see nothing yet!" Jerome cackled insanely but you immediately turned the TV off.
You grabbed your phone fast to call your best friend (Y/bff/n). You needed to be with them. Being alone in a little apartment would just driving you nuts, especially when Jerome was out!
Your best friend was the only one who knew about Jerome being your one off as they knew that Jerome was a killer so they surely understood why you were so scared. You didn't want to risk anything - whether he'd remember you or not, you didn't want to be alone.
Your phone was ringing, you hoped they'd pick up the phone:
(Y/bff/n): hey (Y/n)! Wha-...
(Y/n): Have you watched the news?!
(Y/bff/n): Uhm...no, why? And why are y-...
(Y/n): Jerome's out of Arkham!!
(Y/bff/n): Wait what?! Are you sure it's the Jerome you're thinking of??
(Y/n): he was in the TV...he's planning something... Can stay with you? I can't stay alone. It's driving me nuts. I already have the feeling he's eyeing me from several corners.
(Y/bff/n): Of course! Come over now. We'll get your stuff later.
(Y/n): Thank you! I'm on my way already! See you!
You hung up, immediately taking your jacket, your phone, your keys and some shoes.
You ran out of your apartment, locking your door and walked straight to the next bus station.
You were in a hurry. Outside you didn't feel well at all. You felt being watched, being haunted. You had the feeling Jerome was everywhere and that he just waited the perfect moment to catch you. Everytime someone was walking past you, you felt shivers down your spine and you were scared that any person was a member of 'the Maniax' and kidnap you and bring you to Jerome. You walked faster to the bus station to arrive your best friend's home as fast as possible. You turned your head to the left, to the right, to see whether someone was haunting you. No one did though. It was just your mind.
As you arrived station, the bus came immediately.
You entered the bus as it stopped and chose a seat in the back.Everywhere around you cheerleaders were gossiping, laughing, squeaking about any boy who kissed a friend and such. You instead kept quiet and looked out of the window.
After a few minutes of driving, the bus stopped through a red car from the fire service that blocked its way. Its horns were honking and you could hear someone was getting out of the car.
You saw a ginger guy dancing out of the car on his way to the entrance of the bus. Your heart stopped. Was it Jerome? Was now the moment where you life will end?
He knocked at the door with something, the cheerleaders started to scream.
Something bad will happen now was what you thought while your pulse was running, your sweat was dripping down your forehead, and your hands were shaking. You wanted to cry, you wanted to crawl back in a corner and hope everything will be fine.
Suddenly the door opened, strangers in white suits with guns entered the bus and put us all in handcuffs that were sticker on chains while they pointed their guns at your heads. But for an unknown reason they went out immediately after everyone in the bus was handcuffed.
Cheerleaders were screaming louder, some even started to cry, to son, and to beg for mercy. You instead kept quiet. You couldn't scream. You were in shock and panic, in fear, some tears were already streaming down your cheeks while you tried break free - you failed.
"I want you all to know," you suddenly heard a familiar voice that paralyzed you in shock - he was here "this was a very difficult decision for us. It was between you and uhm... senior citizen bingo party. In the end we decided to skew a little younger. Youth won the day. Sorry." Jerome walked through the bus eyeing each cheerleader girl and pointed his gun at their heads.
With every step he did, you could hear a clicker-clacker caused by his shoes.
Your heartbeat felt like it could explode every minute. You had the feeling you would die soon. More and more tears streamed down your face, you were sobbing in fear, your hands shook uncontrollably. You just wished, you'd come out here alive.
Then Jerome stopped walking, he was eyeing you in surprise and excitement.
"(Y/n)?!" He bended down to you in astonishment completely around him that all the cheerleaders around him were crying and sobbing, and so were you "My, my, my, look at you. You've grown up in that time we haven't seen each other. How you're doing?"
You said nothing, you were just confused about his behavior.
What was wrong with him? Just a few minutes ago he was about to kill us and now he's behaving like an innocent child?! Was what you thought as you just gave him a confused look.
You were still scared though, maybe again he was just playing with your mind as one year ago just to get you?
"It's so good to see you (Y/n), you know that?" He sighed with a smile on his face leaning his elbow against the seat in front of you to lean his head against his hand "I really couldn't stop thinking about you when I was busted in this dirty old shack. The night in my trailer with you...it was marvellous! I still know each part of your body in detail...it brought me many good nights in my cell." Jerome chuckled dark.
You didn't know what to say. Was he about to kill you now? Was it all just a trick again? Do you have to feel honored now that he thought about you every night and jerked off your body?
You stared into his blue eyes, you could tell he was planning something new - and this time it included you.
"Yeah," Jerome kept staring at you with his grin in his face "Anyways, what's new in your life?"
"U-uhm...p-pretty boring...," You sniffed "Nothing has r-really changed since l-last y-year." You stammered feeling odd about having a normal conversation in such an actually dangerous situation.
"Hm..." Jerome hummed flicking his tongue "You know, actually I wanted to splash gasoline all over the cheerleaders and burn them but...now that you are here... I take you with me and THEN I continue my plan." Jerome uncuffed your hands taking them tight and ran with you out of the bus, the other cheeleaders started to scream and cry again and again begged for mercy.
As you and Jerome stood in front the open entrance of the bus, he softly wiped some hair strains behind your ear. With his thumb he caressed your soft skin and wiped all the tears and smeared mascara away.
Jerome smiled at you admiring your face for a while. He looked deep in your eyes, then down to your lips. With a finger snip your fear was gone, the feeling of uncomfortableness faded slowly. Your breathe was uneven though, his personality changes scared you still. Your hands was still trembling, your knees weak. But something told you that you didn't need to be scared of him anymore. He at least safed you.
"From now on, doll, you're mine."

The Harvest - RE8 Fanfic
The Harvest
A Resident Evil 8 fan fiction by Joana
Karl Heisenberg x Female Reader
Notes: heey, so here is Part III, hope you all enjoy it! i'm thinking of starting a new story soon, once this is ended, probably focusing more on world building and Karl and reader relationship hehe
Warning: NSFW content
Part I - Destiny (1) Part I - Destiny (2) Part II - The Lord
Part III – The Hunt
Getting to know the factory turned out to be a fantastic experience. You had never seem so many different paraphernalia in your live, the closer you had ever got to that was when you were a child poking around your dad’s storeroom, but there were only some tools, agriculture products and inherited ornaments from your cabin family – these last ones were your absolute favourite.
Heisenberg’s factory, on the other hand, was full of interesting things, some of them you had no idea what were used for. You even found a suspicious “torture” room, but couldn’t dig into it, once he was nearby. Still, you found his journals narrating his experiments, his audio reports and some guide books on mechanics that had you intrigued for a long time while reading them. He was a madman, you were convinced, but at the same time, that secluded part of you was growing a little each day you explored his life.
Lord Heisenberg was nicer and quieter than you would imagine. He basically lived in his various offices across the factory, mostly he would be trying new mechanisms on bodies and seeing how they reacted with the Cadou, the strange parasite the villagers mentioned only on rare and veiled conversations. As far as it wasn’t you, or your family, lying cold on one of the stretchers, you didn’t care. As a matter of fact, you felt tempted to try some things with the gears yourself as you deepen your studies in his books.
At your first days there, you got worried you would have to share the bed with him, which would be much more proximity than you had ever had with another person. The man had already seen your half naked and that was enough. However, he didn’t sleep there with you and you wondered why, once he so enthusiastically mocked you about it when you arrived. Actually, you started doubting he ever slept at all.
You were still a bit scared, though, never knowing if he would play a prank on you, so you were very careful to avoid him for a while - that didn’t endure –, believing you should give him space to get used to your presence after the mood he got into after your reception.
He was disturbed, indeed. His work was getting closer to a crucial point that involved Mother Miranda. He musted be discreet, but it was proving to be a real trial with Soldats activating and running around as lost beasts. Also, having you around actually gave him a new problem.
Lord Heisenberg would walk around the factory looking for material, testing the Soldats and cursing a lot, some of these swearwords you didn’t even know, but started liking how he used them, almost cartoonish. It was never directed to you, of course. He acted like you weren’t there most of the time, in others, when he was more chilled, with less work to do, he asked “how is the mess at the wing, buttercup?” laughing at you blushing at his indiscreet platonic flirts.
You had to find your way around the factory. That place was a labyrinth and a map would come handy, so you drew it on some clean papers you found lying around, loving not to get lost anymore. You hadn’t been face-to-face to one of his creations yet, just saw them on the production lines on the overview of the factory and on some specific rooms. You also avoided it due to fear.
He told you where the wing to be cleaned was and you found it after an hour. It was so incredibly packed with mechanical parts that you could barely come inside to take a look. Huffing, you thought that he could solve that without moving a muscle. It made you mad, but also made you wonder what you were doing there. You cleaned it anyway, as it was your duty and used that waste to build some minor projects.
At the end of your expedient, your hands were orange because of the rusty irons you were moving all day long and you had little cuts here and there, but nothing really bad. As it was going, it wouldn’t take long for you to finish cleaning and could even decorate it for him, making it feel more like home to you too.
You were liking it there. Of course, it was dusty, grey, sometimes rusty and hot all the time, but it was also very different from everything. Once you said goodbye to the cabins, then to the Village and maybe being away from Miranda’s dominance made you feel lighter.
You found some red fabric lying around somewhere, appearing to be forgotten, made some nature sketches on blank papers and put yellow lights on the bedroom and on Karl’s soon-to-be new working room. It looked cosy. You hoped he would appreciate it when he met the reformed wing, until then, you would keep quiet not to bother him.
Though, shortly after you finished decorating the bedroom, an event destroyed your plans of avoiding Heisenberg. On your daily route to what you would now call your wing, you crossed the kitchen and found an overcoat-less Karl trying to prepare a sandwich. He had any chef’s nightmare happening in that place. There were blunt knives flying around, a metal cup chasing the kettle spilling hot coffee all over the floor as he tried to open a bottle of whiskey and, finally, hot coffee hit Heisenberg’s chest and he screamed and cursed like a sore animal.
“FUCK!” He thundered, his word echoing in the corridor where you stood.
You couldn’t ignore that scene even if you tried. You were getting tired of not talking to him, you lived together now and all your few friends were slowly becoming distant memories. You would be happy to hear his voice, something else than gears rumble, even if it was cursing your predecessors.
As a powerful person, he would try to use his powers to do simple things and do a real mess instead. You felt compelled to give him some support, maybe it was a part of your mother’s care for others that lived in you too. You entered the kitchen headstrong, holding a laugh at his misery looks. Now he was stroking his shirt with a cloth and only noticed you when you were getting around the island.
You didn’t know, however, he never “never noticed” you. He felt your presence at the corridor before you saw him and he felt ashamed of you seeing him failing at a stupid task, and so forth his reaction was to be boorish.
“What?” He asked in a rude tone.
“Just let me help.” You offered, placing your hand in the air between you two. It wasn’t really an offer, you were just being polite, you would help him one way or another, you would have your small talk, but he wouldn’t give up so easily. “Please.” You asked, making the sweeter voice you could.
He huffed and threw the wet cloth on the sink. You took another cloth from one of the drawers – you were getting used to the utensils’ places –, wet it a little with water and looked at him, your head slightly tilted to the right.
“What is it, kitten?” Heisenberg questioned, roughly playful then.
“It is your shirt.” You pointed.
“Yes, it is dirty. Weren’t you trying to help?” He started to lose patience.
“Yeah, I am. It is just… You will have to take it off.” You let it out unpretentiously, although in your mind you were revengeful.
“Oh.” He understood and immediately took it off with so much easiness you wondered how many times he did that when you were so uncertain of it at your first day.
You had never seem him shirtless. To be quite sincere, you hadn’t seen many shirtless men in your life. The Village was a very cold town, once it was deep into a forest in the mountains, so even in the summer there wasn’t a hot weather, so people tended to keep their clothes on. Because of this, when he took it off you instantly blushed at his scarred chest.
He has what you would call a dad body. It isn’t really sinewy, although still very strong with thick arms and defined muscles. He has some belly, which means he isn’t a skinny person, but he isn’t fat also. And maybe you took too long looking at him like that and feeling weird feelings you would think about later that night.
“You’re almost drooling there, buttercup.” He teased you and when you quickly, but gently, started cleaning his chest with the cloth, so you wouldn’t have to answer, he gave up a deliciously loud laugh.
You laughed with him, making him laugh even harder. You didn’t want to admit it, but you liked it, this casual connection between you two. The laugh died a gradual death and you started moving you hand on his chest, feeling its warmth below the cloth. You could almost swear his breathing was getting faster and you saw he was biting his lips, maybe because you were taking too long. You didn’t want to finish, but you both know there wasn’t much coffee on him anyway.
You put the cloth with the other one in the sink and as you watered them, you saw him going to get his shirt that had been laying on the island.
“No, no, no.” You said, taking it from his hands kind brusquely, making him confused. “I need to wash these.”
“I see.” He said, raising his hands to show he wouldn’t try again, as a peace offer that made you grin.
“I can finish your sandwich for you, it will only take a minute.” You added, embarrassed to be so bossy with him.
“I will be at my office.” He told you and left without looking back.
You thought he got mad at you because of the shirt situation. It made you sad, you started having a nice approach. To compensate you made him a really good sandwich with the meat and vegetables you found in the refrigerator. Searching for food there you considered asking him to go see the Duke and buy supplies, maybe even hunt, because you didn’t have enough provisions. Anyway, you also prepared the coffee, poured a glass of cowboy whisky – sipped one, two or three times yourself – and cleaned what was there to be cleaned. It took more than one minute, but less than teen.
You were heading to his office when you heard a muffled noise. It sounded guttural and made you shiver. Electricity running through your body, making you feel hopelessly exposed, only that countered by the alcohol it felt good. You stepped carefully as you got closer to the door. You considered not knocking, but the noise made you knock.
“Just…” He gasped. “Leave it at the door, please.” Heisenberg was painting, but he asking “please” was what made up your mind, that politeness wasn’t usual, so you did what he requested.
You wanted to be around him on that day, but chose to respect his privacy. You didn’t imagine that his mind was blowing with you, he desperately wanted to continue the kitchen talk, but couldn’t give himself the chance once he was so close to perfecting the Soldats.
To ease your thoughts, as you were no longer requested at the factory, you tested your stealth skills and slipped to the forest behind it, caring your bow and arrows determinedly.
You were familiar with that area as you have hunted all around the Village, thus, you knew where to go to find good preys. It was by the lake were the deer stopped to drink water. It was far from the factory entrance, but again, you knew exactly what you were doing. When approaching the lake, you climbed a tree and waited.
It didn’t take long until a lonely deer appeared, unsuspicious. It leaned its head so it could reach the water level and started drinking it. You positioned one arrow, held your breath and did the physics magic. The arrow nailed its left eye. It didn’t scream, it was over very quickly.
You climbed the tree down, came closer to the body and tied it with the rope you brough from the factory. Your way back wasn’t effortless, you were slower due to the extra weight and the lycans sensed its blood, their sounds were all around you. They wouldn’t hurt your, though, somehow, they knew you were with Heisenberg.
It was past four in the afternoon when you reached the factory, panting with the effort of bringing the deer. Heisenberg was poking around for something in his front yard. He noticed you just as you appeared in his peripherical vision. He walked towards you, with an intrigued expression that transformed into an impressed one when he saw the deer.
“Some gifts you have there, kitten, ain’t gonna lie.” He commented, squatting to take a good look at the animal. “How did you do that?” It was clear he didn’t mean to offend, quite the opposite, he was genuinely curious.
“A girl has her secrets.” You answered, when you finally stop panting, shrugging when internally you are fulfilled someone knew about you hunting and didn’t seem mad at you.
He wasn’t even angry you left the factory without his permission, which made you happier. He stood below you with the animal for a few seconds more, than got up on his feed, laid his hands on your shoulders, well, on your skin hunting jacket, and said “You are really something, kitten.”
You fell for his words. You never wanted to feel that dependant on someone’s appreciation for you, but with him it was lighter. Karl took the weight of the world off your shoulders by bringing you there and kind off supporting you even though you had only spent little more than a month together.
“Thank you, my lord.” You spoke.
“Stop it. Call me Karl.” He said roughly, but good hearted. “Now, do you know how to clean this deer?” Heisenberg asked.
Usually, Duke would do it for you, although you knew the theory, you hadn’t much practice.
“I was hoping you could help me with it, Karl.” You suggested, toasting him a malicious smile.
“For fuck’s sake.” But he cursed laughing.
He cleaned this table at the garage and disposed the deer there. You helped him doing the messy job, learning with him what you only saw the Duke doing. It wasn’t pretty, but you were comforted by his presence and obstinacy. He probably did it often as it showed, but didn’t bother to take it slower so he could teach you.
Heisenberg enjoyed that night more than you could imagine. He didn’t care for the Soldats, they could wait, it was nice being around you for a change, not running away from your hair, your smile, your presence. For the first time in his life, he actually had someone who wanted to be around him.
Later your prepared venison, demi-glace, potatoes, a fresh arugula salad and both of your enjoyed dinner at the kitchen island with bottles of dark beer. He was funny, he was tripping over words a little, due to the alcohol, but his stories, oh man… He was a real brat. You told him about the cabins and the hunting. He listened carefully, never judging you and laughed at your silly manners, at your etiquette and, over all, loved your cook.
He slept in the bed with you, tired, amused and drunk, he sunk in his dreams. You stayed up a bit longer, resisting your lazy eyes temptations just to appreciate his scent, it would smell like burned wood.

my masterlist
→ → → → → → → →
Two weeks after telling Peter, he has tried everything to make you do the first move. Starting conversations with Mj out of nowhere and trying to include you in, asking her about her favorite things- which he actually already knew about, but you'd do anything for your friend, right? You seem to get pretty comfortable with your feelings towards her, since Peter made you spend a lot of time with her and the others after he noticed you not speaking that much again.
You didn’t want to admit it, but you had a whole crush on Mj. Even after talking to Peter, it was still difficult to admit yourself that you liked girls. You still haven’t told Steve, your dad, and don’t plan on doing so anytime soon. For now, your plan was to find out if Mj felt the same way towards you, or if she even liked girls in the first place. You had asked Peter if he ever talked with her about feelings, but apparently she tries to avoid that topic as much as possible and it doesn’t help your crisis either.
You’re sitting on your lunch table with Ned, Peter, Mj and Betty. Betty is sitting next to you and Ned on the other side, whilst Mj sits across from you. You try your best to keep your head down and not accidentally look up and make eye contact with her, even though she’s probably too focused on reading her book and holding her sandwich with the other hand.
Your mind wanders as you decide to risk it and look at her, until Ned wakes you up from your daydreaming.
“Guys! Look!” He shoves his phone into your face and smiles brightly. There is a website opened for a new movie coming out in three days, it’s called “Call me by your name” and the cover is of Timothee Chalamet.
“Wait- I’ve been waiting for that movie to come out for MONTHS,” Betty groans as she sits back after having to stand up, to see the screen better. You return your gaze to Mj and catch her staring at you. A shy smile is plastered on her face and she nods towards you. Your gaze instantly goes back to your meal and you mentally slap your face for being so awkward. At least she can’t see your blushing face, you think.
Two hours later, after maths class, you’re sitting with Ned in physics. Usually you’d sit with Betty, but she decided to sit alone for today. You were copying notes from the board, when Ned suddenly nudges your arm with his elbow. You look up and turn your head to him.
“Mh?” Continuing to write down what your teacher’s writing on the board, you wait for his answer. But he only smiles at you.
“A bird told me you liked our best friend,” he whispers and lowers his gaze again. You stop taking notes and slowly look up, turning your whole body around to come face to face with Peter, who’s sitting behind you.
“Hey,” he smiles and waves before taking a pen and starting to write down the notes, too.
“Dumbass,” you mutter under your breath and turn around to Ned with a forced smile.
“Who told you that? I don’t like anyone.” Your eyes are back on the board, trying to seem as unbothered as possible. Ned chuckled as he returned his gaze back to the paper, not before he let out a useless comment.
"Y'know, I thought you and Mj would confess faster. Guess I was wrong," he shrugged. Your head instantly snaps up and your eyes widen.
“Bro, shut the fuck up! She could’ve heard you!” Turning around in your seat to look at her, you find her head buried in her physics book and your eyes soften at the sight. You feel your heartbeat against your chest rapidly and hope no one catches you staring. But before you could even realize, Mj looks up and waves at you with an unsure smile. Your hand shots up to wave back softly, smiling and letting out a sigh as you turn back.
Finding out if she likes you or not will be harder than you thought.
An hour later, you are sitting with Ned and Peter in your room, explaining to them your feelings.
“Yeah, and when she waved at me I just...completely blocked everything out? I don’t know, man, she’s so freaking pretty,” you whine and throw yourself back on your bed. Both boys sitting in front of you give each other a look before turning back to you.
“Look, I’ve never really been in lo-”
“Peter, not only two days ago you were crying ov-”
“As I said,” he gives Ned a pointed look and clenches his jaw,” I’ve never really been in love, but I’m entirely sure that you definitely are. I mean, just by the way you admire her from afar and when you two talk?” You sigh and smile at him, silently thanking him for being there for you when you need him.
“I don’t know, ‘s just she’s a girl and I’ve never had a crush on a g-”
“You have a crush on a girl?” You jump back from your place and stare at your open door, Natasha and Steve standing there. Steve looks at you with a shocked look and Nat looks rather unsurprised.
“I- I’m no- Why did you two came in without knocking? I could’ve been changing or something?” You try and change the topic, silently praying that your dad will drop the topic. You were not going to explain to your dad how you found out you had a crush and on top of that- on a girl. He already seemed shocked…
“The door was already open and we could hear you talk with Peter and Ne- No! You will not change the topic, young lady! I asked you a question.” he demands from you. You exhale and take a look at your two friends, who are already looking at you and nodding to your dad.
“Uhm, you see...I,” you squint your eyes, “like girls...too” You let out a breath and let your eyes closed, not wanting to see your dad’s reaction. You would’ve told him when you were ready. And now, now was not really the time, because you were still trying to figure everything out. But since he walked in anyways, maybe now was a good timing.
A silence fills the room and you dare to open your eyes, but cast them on the wall behind your dad and hope he won’t be disappointed or mad. To your surprise, he’s neither of those things.
“Really? How did you find out?” Nat takes a seat on your bean bag and smiles at you. You frown and smile when you realize she is trying to not make this situation uncomfortable.
“Uhm, well...there’s this girl I thought I only found pretty, turns out she’s...more?” You explain and let out a squeak as she hugs you.
“Is it Mj? I heard you talking to her the other day and went past your room, you were looking really...dreamy at her.” She wiggles her eyebrows and you feel your face getting warm. Deciding to ignore her comment, your gaze is cast back to your dad still standing in shock.
You are about to say something, when he breaks the silence.
“You’re…,” He looks at Nat for help and she just shrugs, not knowing what label you’re comfortable with.
“Bi? I mean, I think that’s what I am.” You smile and shrug. Until now, he’s very chill. The bad gut feeling you had slowly disappearing as you see his face softening and he sighs. Peter and Ned slowly get up as they try not to ruin the moment, but instantly fail.
“We- we just wanted to wait outside because this feels like an intimate moment between you two,” Ned shows to the door and nods. When you smile at him, he’s sure you’re thankful and mouths “good luck”.
“So, girls?” Steve plants himself on your other side. You nod and lower your head. He didn’t say anything wrong and you’re sure he won’t do something, Steve isn’t like that. But it still feels weird to have to talk to him about this, you didn’t even prepare yourself and this was also so new to him.
“Look, I know you love me and I know you care. But if this changes how you view me, then I’ll not take it as something good. I’m still trying to figure this all out and don’t even know what I want to label myself and if I even want to. But you're my dad, so I think you should have to know about this. So, now the question that’s been on my mind; you don’t hate me, right?”
Finally taking a deep breath and feeling your eyes fill with tears, you dare to look up and take a look at your dad. He sits there, completely in shock and awe. By the shaking of your hands and shuddered breaths he knows this is taking a toll on you and you’re not 100% comfortable in the situation. You tried your best to stop yourself from shaking, but failed as Steve took your hands in his and smiled at you. 7
“Ok, that was a lot to unpack at once. And I’m really glad and proud of you for talking to me about this and telling me,” he says. Nat’s still sitting on your bean bag and nods at Steve, signaling he’s doing everything right.
“And I’m also happy that you got friends that understand and respect you. Back to when I was a kid, it would’ve been completely different. I remember this guy who got caught kissing another guy and his dad freaked out and asked me where he was. II, of course, decided to lie but almost got an asthma attack when I saw the g-”
“Ok, ok. I don’t think I want to know about that, it’s not really helping me.” You quickly interrupted him as you thought about what he could’ve said next.
“Right, right, sorry. So uh, what I actually wanted to say is that I’m happy you have friends and a family that respects and accepts you, and I’m happy you got the courage to tell me,” he pauses and nods to Nat, “us, about this.” You quietly thank him with a smile and hug.
“Aww, that’s so cute. Now that you finally confirmed you like girls. Was I right? It 's Mj, right?” Nat encourages and starts a new conversation. You giggle and shrug.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about, Nat,” you trail off and look around the room. Both adults chuckle.
A week later, you’re sitting with Mj, Peter and Ned on the rooftop of Peter’s apartment. He invited you three to come and hang out. Peter excuses himself before leaving to get food.
Ned is silently looking up at the stars as you shift closer to the edge of the building, leaning your head down to look at the small cars and people.
“Woah, don’t do that. You’ll fall.” Mj shifts closer to you, your knees touching. You smile at her.
“To be honest, it kinda does look peaceful to just lay back and fall,” you acknowledge. You’ve seen it a million times in movies, shows. It looks peaceful. If only death wasn’t the result of it.
“Well, just...try not to. I don’t want you gone, forever,” the girl next to you whispers.
Your cheeks heat up, your eyes avoiding hers and looking anywhere but left to you. You feel her gaze on you, which doesn’t make it any better and you silently pray for Peter to come back, so you could have an excuse to busy yourself with something.
“Uhm...how was your maths test? The one we had last week.” Mj tries to sparkle a conversation between you two. A huff leaves your lips as you turn to her.
“I still didn't look at my grade. Thought it’d be better if I did it when I’m not stressed, y’know?”
She nods and averts her gaze from you. You can feel the awkward tension between you guys, but decide to not do anything. That is, until she speaks up again.
“Are you- are you mad at me? You spent so little time with us every time I was the-”
“No! No, I’m not mad. I just...have a lot on my mind lately,” you explain and fiddle with your fingers. Never did you plan actually talking to her tonight. The boys told you it’d be a normal movie night and when you found out she’d be there too, you thought you could get away before she even came up to you.
“What is it?” Her brown eyes stare back at you and you have the feeling she could look into your soul, as if she already knew the answer.
Thinking about how you would tell your best friend you like her made you even more nervous for tonight. And the worst part; you didn’t know if she liked girls in that way. This made your nerves go through the roof, but also in a good way. Knowing that maybe she had the same feelings towards you made your heart flutter and cheeks heat up.
“I...like this view” You change the subject and point to the busy city below you, tensing when you feel her move even closer to you and leaning back.
“Are you sure nothing’s wrong? Because you don’t really look...relaxed.” By now you know you’ve made a mistake changing the subject so fast. You could’ve lied, told her you had a rough week. Told her it was exams, anything.
“I actually wanted to tell you something today. I need you to promise you wo-”
“I like girls. That 's it. I wanted to tell you for days now but never got to do it. And I know this is really rushed and I never planned it on saying it like this. I actually wanted to tell you later but now you noticed I’m nervous and-” Your rant gets cut off when you feel a pair of soft lips pressing on yours.
The second it drawns down on you that Mj just kissed you, you pull away instantly. Looking at her through wide eyes, you ask. “Wait, you like girls, too?”
“I- yes? You don’t?” A panic sets through her as she moves back and you try to understand what happened.
“What? No! I mean, yes! I like girls, too.” You sit closer to her and take her face into your hands, one hand on either side of her face. She looks at you through shining eyes and a wide smile.
“Can we kiss again? I swear I’ve never felt this euphoric-” This time, you’re the one who cuts her off by kissing her and letting your lips move against hers, pulling her closer by her neck. You pull back after seconds of kissing to get some air to breath.
“Woah, that was-” “Perfect.” You smile at her and watch her smile grow wide, if that was even possible.
Mj scoots closer to you and lets out a sigh.
“I was really scared to tell you. Saw you spent a lot of time with Peter and thought you liked him,” she explains, her smiles falling.
“I could never. I mean, he’s a great friend. But now I’m just happy I kissed you. But there’s one thing left.”
“And that is?”
“Will you be my girl?” You ask, intervening your fingers with hers and playing your hands on your lap. She just smirks as an answer and pulls you in for a kiss.

Our Last Summer (Part 2)
pairing: wolfstar (sirius x remus)
genre: fluff & angst
warnings: mentions of death and disappearances, hints at sex
words: 1789
note: based on the song ‘Our Last Summer’ by ABBA
We made our way along the river and we sat down in the grass by the Eiffel tower. I was so happy we had met, it was the age of no regret, oh yes
“Come on, it’s the last Hogsmeade visit we’ll ever have!” Dorcas said. “You have to get in.” Remus sat outside the water of the shallow river.
“You know we can come back to visit Hogsmeade right?” Remus said. “It’s a village, not part of Hogwarts.”
“Ugh you know what I mean,” they said. “Just come inside, Remus, it’s fun.” She reached to pull his foot in but Remus was too quick for her and his foot slipped out of their grasp.
“Moony, just come in,” James said. “It’s really hot outside anyway and the water is nice.”
“If you don’t come in we’ll splash you,” Peter warned him.
“Guys, leave him alone,” Sirius said. He had taken his shirt off (surprise surprise) and left it outside on the grass. Remus was finding it very difficult to focus on anything else. “If he doesn’t want to come in he doesn’t have to.” Maybe if Remus was less focused on the fact that Sirius was half-naked he would’ve noticed the mischievous twinkle in his grey eyes or the smirk playing on his lips. Sirius came out of the water and sat beside Remus. He waited for maybe two seconds before pushing him into the water. Remus sat in the river, spluttering and wiping water out of his eyes.
“Thanks for that,” he said to Sirius.
“Anytime, babe,” Sirius said, rejoining everybody in the water. “You’re too trusting, Moons.”
“That’s a first,” Remus muttered.
“Oh lighten up, Remus,” Lily said, splashing him with water. “It’s fun.” Remus splashed her back and soon enough a water fight broke out (as they do).
To an outsider, it would have been unclear who won but James, Sirius, Remus, Lily and Marlene would all claim that the victory had been their own. Either way, by the end everybody was soaked from head to toe.
“Let’s go get food,” Sirius said.
“I’ll come with you, I’m starving,” James said. They climbed out of the water and began drying themselves with their wands.
“Wait,” Lily said, climbing out of the water as well. “Don’t waste money on food while we still get free food from the school. We raided the kitchens this morning.” She opened her bag to reveal loaves of bread and spreads.
“Wow,” James said. “I’m impressed, Evans. I didn’t know you had it in you, being Head Girl and all.”
“Right, like you haven’t done this a million times and you’re Head Boy,” Lily said, blushing a bit. “And Remus was a prefect and he’s done it plenty of times too.”
“Who’s ‘we’?” Sirius asked, eyebrows raised.
“Me, Marlene, Dorcas, Mary and Alice,” Lily said.
“What, you didn’t think you guys were the only ones who could pull pranks, did you?” Marlene asked. They all came out of the water with Remus and Frank as Lily started pulling food out of her bag. They sat on the grass making sandwiches, talking and laughing.
“I can’t believe it’s nearly over,” Sirius said, looking back at the castle. “Has it been seven years already?”
“I know,” Mary said. “It feels like time has barely passed since our first day.”
Sirius thought back to the day he sat on the chair in front of the whole school with the Sorting Hat on his head, the thrill he felt when the hat called out Gryffindor, not Slytherin. He looks around at his friends, the people sitting here now and he just feels so grateful that he met them. All of them, every single one. Who knows where he’d be without them. Probably still at his parents’ house. Yes, Sirius thinks, I definitely got lucky. And as his eyes meet Remus’ and their hands link together, Sirius knows everything will be ok. He has no regrets. Everything will be just fine.
But underneath we had a fear of flying, of growing old, a fear of slowly dying. We took a chance like we were dancing our last dance
But despite that confidence that Sirius had felt towards the end of his time at Hogwarts, there had been cracks of fear and doubt even then. The war was still being fought and their side was growing weaker by the day. People were dying left, right and center and Sirius felt helpless in it all. He was in the Order, he was fighting, he was trying. But it wasn’t working. They were losing. And Sirius could not shake the fear that haunted him day and night: it’s only a matter of time before someone he loves dies. Everybody Sirius cares about is in the Order of the Phoenix. At this rate, the chances that they’ll all make it out of this alive are minuscule.
Sirius is trying to stay positive but it’s not working. Most days the only thing that gets him through to the night is the thought that if he stops fighting it’ll just be worse.
He usually went to the Potter’s in the evening but he was just too tired tonight. Remus was out, probably on a mission, so Sirius collapsed on the couch. He lay there for a while, eyes closed but not asleep. Just thinking. Thinking and thinking and thinking. It’s like that was all he ever did these days. Thinking about James and Lily and Harry, how unfair this was on them, raising a family in the middle of a war. Thinking of Remus, of how far away he felt lately even though they shared a bed every night. Thinking of Peter, who he hadn’t seen in a while. Just thinking.
It felt like hours had passed but it had probably barely been one. Sirius gives up on sleep and decides to make a cup of tea. He opens his eyes and looks at the clock. It’s nearly eleven-thirty. And Remus still isn’t home. His missions didn’t usually run this late. And when they did he always made sure to tell Sirius. He started to panic. Relax, he told himself, he probably just went to Lily and James’. Just because you were too tired doesn’t mean he can’t go.
Sirius hurries to the phone and dials the number for the Potter residence.
“Hello?” Lily’s voice.
“Lily? Hey, it’s Sirius.”
“Oh, hi Sirius. Is everything ok?”
“Um, is Remus at your place?”
“No,” Lily says. “Why? Has he not come home yet?”
“No,” Sirius says. He can hear the panic building in his voice.
“I’m sure everything’s ok,” Lily said quickly but it doesn’t sound like she believes it herself. “Have you tried checking with Peter? Or maybe with Marlene and Dorcas?”
“No, I–I haven’t called anyone else yet,” Sirius said. His hands were beginning to shake.
“Ok Sirius, don’t panic,” Lily said soothingly. “We’ll find him. You call Peter and I’ll call Marlene and Dorcas. Even if he isn’t—”
“Remus!” Sirius says. The door opens and Remus walks in, kicking off his shoes. “Lily, he’s here, I have to go. Thanks though.”
“Oh thank god,” Lily mutters. “Ok, I’m glad he’s ok. Bye Sirius.”
“Bye, Lils.” Sirius hung up the phone and ran to throw his arms around Remus. Remus stumbled slightly but hugged Sirius back tightly.
“It’s ok,” Remus said into Sirius’ hair. “It’s ok.”
“I thought… I thought…” Sirius felt the tears well up in his eyes. I thought I lost you.
“I know,” Remus whispers. “But it’s ok. I’m here now. I’m sorry.”
“What kept you?” Sirius asked, almost angry as he pulled away and wiped his eyes.
“Dumbledore wanted to talk to me about something,” Remus said. “Some new mission.”
“Oh.” Sirius’ heart sank. More dangerous missions, more risks, more deaths. He couldn’t stand it anymore. “What kind of mission?”
“He wants me to… to spy on the werewolves who sided with Voldemort,” Remus said. He sounded bitter.
“What?” Sirius said, shocked. “He wants you to spy—”
“On werewolves, yeah,” Remus said. “He says it’s important to try and get them on our side. Or at least to try and find out Voldemort’s plans through them.”
“And you… you’re ok with this?” Sirius asks.
“Well I have to be, don’t I?” Remus says. “It’s about the only useful thing I can do for the Order.” Then after a moment, he adds, “Sirius, what’s wrong? If you don’t want me to do it, I won’t.”
“Do you want to do it? Cause you don’t exactly sound enthusiastic about the offer.”
“I just…” Remus sighed. “I want to be useful.”
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” Sirius said. “I’m worried about you, Remus. I’m scared.”
“I know, love. I’m scared too.”
“I want you to be happy,” Sirius says, taking his hand.
“Then I need to do this mission,” Remus says, “I want to help, I— like you and James and Lily and Peter are. Whatever time I lose during the full moon, I make up for it by spying. Instead of being an inconvenience, I’ll be an asset.” Sirius nods.
“If that’s really what you want,” he says.
“Look, I know it’s scary. But it’ll be ok. As long as we have each other we’ll be fine.”
“Promise you’ll stay with me?”
“I promise,” Remus whispered, kissing him softly. Sirius leaned into the touch, sliding his arms around Remus’ neck. They had been growing distant lately and Sirius had needed this. He missed Remus. Was it possible to miss someone you shared a house with, shared a bed with? Apparently, it was.
“Are you tired?” Sirius asked softly, still holding Remus close.
“Not really,” Remus said. “Why? Did you have something in mind?”
“How about I play some music and we can… dance?” Sirius said.
“Hmm, but we both know that I am the least coordinated person in existence and I cannot dance,” Remus said, smiling.
“Come on Moons, dance with me,” Sirius said, smirking and taking a step back. He turned on the radio and the song Endless Love by Lionel Riche and Diana Ross was playing.
“I’ll hold you close in my arms,” Sirius sang, pulling Remus back in. “I can’t resist your charms, and love, I’ll be a fool for you—”
“You’ll be a fool anyway,” Remus muttered under his breath. But he was smiling, his hands on Sirius’ waist as they stumbled danced across the living room.
“Shh I’m singing, Moony,” Sirius said. “You mean the world to me. Oh, I know, I’ve found in you, my endless love.” They locked eyes, fiery amber and stormy grey, before melting into another kiss. Needless to say, not much dancing or sleeping was done that night.

ouu yes ive been so obsessed with them (osasuna) recently and there’s barely any fics for them in this department lol i wanted to see something like suna coming to school sick with the stomach flu or something and osamu taking him home to take care of him (i feel like it’s ooc for suna to go to go school if he’s not feeling well so it’d probably be one of those where it gets progressively worse throughout the day) sorry if this is too long haha
Okay!! Thank you for this request. Sorry it took so long. Honestly, I had a lot of fun with this and it ended up being so long, that I’m gonna post it in 2 parts!!
You can totally read either as a stand alone though. Part 2 should be up soon :)
Suna and I have the same birthday, so I actually kinda put a lot of myself into him in this one since we share a star sign lmao. I hope it’s not too ooc for either of them. It’s my first time writing sunaosa!
Sick at School: a SunaOsa fic

Part 2 Here
_________________________________
Suna was confused.
There was a strange gnawing in his gut that wasn’t there when he woke up this morning. In fact, when he woke up this morning, he felt perfectly fine. Maybe he was a little more tired than usual, but he didn’t sleep all that well, so he brushed it off and got ready for school.
But now, he was sitting in class, his eyes burning as he tried to stay awake. It was only Monday and only the second class of the day, but he felt like he’d been at school for days already. On top of the grumbly feeling in his stomach, his brain was muddled, so paying attention to whatever his teacher was saying was taking every bit of energy he could scrounge up.
It didn’t make sense. He slept his eight hours (even if it wasn’t the best sleep), he ate a good breakfast, he was hydrated, there weren’t any tests or games coming up to make him anxious at all. So the unsteady, uncomfortable, unusual feelings he currently felt simply did not make a single bit of logical, rational sense.
And because they didn’t make sense—because there was no rational reason for him to feel that way—he ignored it.
Ignoring it proved to be more difficult than he anticipated as the fog in his brain solidified into a consistent pounding and the gnawing in his stomach started to feel more like his stomach acid was boiling. The sun shining on him through the window didn’t help any, and he started to feel rather warm. By his fourth class, occasional cramps rolled through his body, forcing him to tense every muscle in his body to keep from wincing.
When the teacher finally released them for lunch, Suna folded his arms on his desk and hid his face in the crook of his elbow, ready to take a nap. Within three seconds, he heard the chair in front of him scrape the ground, grating on his ears, and felt his desk shake as someone sat down. He adjusted his head and peeked over his arm to find Osamu staring down at him, his usual bored look gracing his features.
“Yer sick, Sunarin,” he deadpanned and took a bite of his sandwich. Suna blinked at him several times.
Sick? Was that why he felt so weird? But he wasn’t sick this morning. There was no way he would have come to school if he felt bad.
Still, it would explain why he slept poorly. It must be a fast acting bug.
“I guess so,” he mumbled and buried his face in his elbow again.
“Hmmm,” Osamu mumbled. They were quiet for a minute or two before Osamu spoke again.
“Wanna go to the infirmary?” he asked, his mouth full.
Suna looked up at him again and sighed before sitting up. The world spun around for a brief second and he closed his eyes until the feeling went away. When it righted itself once more, his stomach was hurting worse than before.
“How’d you know anyway?” he asked and rested his chin in his hand.
“You’ve been lookin’ bad all mornin’. Wasn’t hard to tell.” Osamu shrugged. His sandwich was gone and he started making his way through the onigiri he most likely made himself. The fact that Osamu could tell he wasn’t feeling well from across the room made Suna blush. Or maybe he had a fever?
“Plus,” Osamu continued, “Tsumu’s home right now with a pretty nasty stomach bug. Threw up all over his bed last night.” He scrunched up his nose cutely, probably remembering the disastrous scene from the night before. Atsumu was never good at being a sick person. Or an injured person. Or a person at all, really.
“Wouldn’t be all that surprising if ya caught it from him since ya slept over at our place last weekend.”
Suna nodded in agreement.
“What about you?” he asked. Osamu shrugged again.
“I’ll probably be spewin’ my guts out by Thursday. Usually how it goes. One of us catches something then the other is sick within the week. We’ve only been sick at the same time a handful o’ times.”
“Mmmm,” Suna nodded and put his head down once more. It was suddenly very difficult to hold his head up.
“Infirmary?” Osamu asked again. Suna shook his head.
“Can’t move,” he whined before he could stop himself. Osamu looked at him with wide eyes.
“W-well, I’ll help ya out, dumbass,” he stuttered and Suna returned the wide eyed look.
“Uh, sure. But finish your lunch first. I can wait. You should eat. Wake me up when you’re done,” he said and closed his eyes.
“Alright. Lemme know if we need to go sooner though…” Osamu said hesitantly and Suna tried to ignore the implication behind the phrase.
Just because Atsumu had a stomach bug didn’t mean that Suna did too. He wouldn’t throw up at school. The increasing nausea absolutely had to be related to the growing migraine that slammed away at his head. He definitely would not throw up at school.
Before he started overthinking himself into a downward spiral, Osamu placed a hand in his hair. Suna was tense at first, but then Osamu started gently scratching his scalp and he immediately relaxed. He was a little embarrassed, honestly. Not because this was unusual though.
Osamu knew it helped Suna with his frequent headaches, so Suna was sure he somehow knew about the incoming migraine. It was just that this was usually something Osamu did for him in much more private settings. He’d do it on the bus on the way back from away games, or in one of their rooms after school or during a sleepover. To be so affectionate in the middle of their classroom was unheard of and if Suna wasn’t feeling so poorly, he’d probably smack Osamu’s hand away.
“Ya got a slight fever there, Sunarin,” Osamu whispered gently.
“Mmmm.”
“Okay. I’ll let ya know when I’m done eatin’.”
“Mmmm.”
Within a few seconds, Suna felt himself drift off.
When he woke up again, it wasn’t because of Osamu.
A violent cramp rolled through his gut and he shot up in his seat, ignoring the startled looks of his classmates. The cramp passed quickly, but left behind a foreboding feeling of nausea so intense it left him paralyzed and glued to his seat.
A second later, he noticed that Osamu was nowhere to be found and his anxiety increased. The situation was becoming increasingly urgent and there was no way in hell he could move or speak without throwing up all over his desk.
His chest tightened and he swallowed back a gag. He needed help. He needed Osamu.
“Suna-kun?” a girl from his class touched his shoulder and he flinched. She withdrew her hand.
“O-osamu—“ he forced out and she nodded urgently and ran away and out the door. Less than a minute later, she came back, Osamu hot on her heels. She pointed to Suna and Osamu nodded before rushing over and stood in front of him.
“Sunarin?” he tried and Suna shook his head.
“Are ya gonna—“ Suna nodded before Osamu could finish his question. The eyes of all of his classmates burned Suna’s already flushed cheeks and as if to let everyone know what was going on, a gag forced itself through his body painfully and he leaned over his desk. He brought the back of his hand up to his mouth and whimpered.
“Can someone bring me a trash can, maybe?” Osamu snapped at their peers. The girl from before nodded and dashed to the corner of the room and dragged the trash can over to Suna’s desk.
Everyone froze again and stared with scared eyes at the situation unfolding. Suna shook with effort, trying to stop the inevitable. He really really didn’t want everyone to watch him throw up.
Thankfully, Osamu had his back.
“Leave?!” He shouted and everyone ran out of the room.
“I’ll bring the nurse, Osamu-kun,” the same girl said and Osamu nodded, but his eyes were focused only on Suna. They’d have to remember to thank that girl later.
“I’m sorry, Rintaro. I finished my lunch and you were sleepin’ so peaceful I thought I had time to go to the bathroom before I took ya to the infirmary,” Osamu apologized and cupped Suna’s face in his hands. His voice was much softer than a second ago. It was the voice reserved for those quiet nights that they spent chatting before they fell asleep. Or on the team bus early in the morning when everyone else was still too groggy to pay attention to them. And it comforted Suna in ways he couldn’t comprehend.
“I feel sick, S-samu,” Suna forced through gritted teeth. The swirling in his stomach grew more insistent by the second and he knew it was only a matter of time before he was leaning over the trash can.
“I know, Rin. I’m sorry. It’s okay. I’ve got ya,” Osamu smiled softly at him and brushed his hair back. He frowned when Suna unconsciously leaned into his cold hands.
“Fever got higher,” he mumbled. Suna gagged again.
“Alright, c‘mon,” he said and circled around the desk behind Suna. Osamu gently grabbed his trembling shoulders and positioned him over the trash can. People’s leftovers from lunch filled about half the bin and the smell of all the different foods made Suna dizzy.
“Rin, ya gotta relax,” Osamu sighed and forcefully rubbed between Suna’s shoulder blades.
“N-no,” Suna said stubbornly.
“Yer an idiot.”
“Y-yeah.”
“It’s gonna feel worse if ya don’t just let it happen,” Osamu tried. Suna shook his head.
“Alright well, be mad at me later, then,” Osamu muttered. Suna was about to turn and look at him questioningly, but Osamu wrapped a hand around Suna’s front and placed it on his stomach. Even the minimal contact forced a wretch that left Suna reeling.
“D-don’t,” he tried, but the request was punctuated by a painful hiccup.
“I’m sorry. Can’t do that,” Osamu responded before starting to rub up and down on Suna’s stomach quickly. The motion shook the contents nauseatingly and Suna couldn’t stop the watery burp that followed. He shook his head, eyes squeezed shut tightly.
Osamu didn’t relent. He started patting Suna’s back with the other hand, forcing belch after belch. The conflicting motions wreaked havoc on Suna’s already chaotic stomach.
They stayed like that for what felt like forever, before Suna grabbed Osamau’s wrist tightly.
“S-stop—hurrk. P-please, Samu. No m-mor—hic,” Suna begged. All of his limbs felt like they were about a thousand pounds and he shivered, cold despite the sun beating down on his back.
“It’s okay, Rin. I got ya,” Osamu muttered. He pried Suna’s sweaty hand off his wrist and replaced it with his hand. Suna squeezed hard when a wet belch jolted his body. His other hand grabbed the rim of the trash can in a white-knuckled grip. Osamu used his free hand to rub gently between Suna’s shoulder blades again.
Suna squeezed his eyes shut when he wretched. His throat felt tight and he tried to swallow the accumulating saliva in his mouth, only for it to come back up with a noisy gag. He opted to just drop his mouth open and let the spit fall into the trash can disgustingly.
“S-Samu—“ he tried but was interrupted by a guttural, wet, burp that left his head spinning. Two seconds later, he wretched and a weak stream vomit dribbled out of his mouth. It burned his throat and coated his mouth. The disgusting taste left him more nauseous than he thought possible and a belch gurgled in the back of his throat. He heaved, but nothing else came up.
“Ah, Rin, I’m so sorry. Please don’t cry,” Osamu shushed him. Suna didn’t even realize he was crying.
He continued heaving for what must have been an eternity before another painful gag jolted him forward and brought with it a torrent of pale vomit into the trash can. At least he didn’t have to see everyone’s discarded lunch anymore. Not that his new view was much prettier.
“There ya, go Sunarin,” Osamu soothed. Suna sputtered and coughed, trying to catch his breath. His body was relentless though, and before he felt like he had sufficient oxygen, he was lurching forward with more forceful vomit pouring out of his mouth.
Suna’s body didn’t let up. It was stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of gasping breaths abruptly interrupted by a fountain of vomit forcing its way out. Eventually, he was just left heaving over the trash can, his stomach trying but failing to expel whatever might be left. Anxiety crawled up his spine and the room spun. He wanted to breathe, he really did. He just couldn’t.
“Fuck, Rin, breathe. Please,” Osamu demanded and his voice shattered through Suna’s panic. He nodded and closed his eyes to try and collect himself. He inhaled through his nose and exhaled heavily through his mouth. A minute or two of that, and he was able to take in his surroundings again.
At some point, Osamu wrapped an arm around Suna’s chest because apparently, his own arms gave out at some point and hung limply at his sides. He spit the residual nastiness out of his mouth and squinted up at Osamu.
“Can we leave?” he asked plainly. Osamu stared at him owlishly and then chuckled.
“It’s the middle of the day Rin, I can’t just—“
“Please?” he all but begged and grabbed Osamu’s arm. Osamu hesitated for the briefest of seconds before relenting with a heavy breath.
“Yeah. Yeah, ‘course. Want me to call yer mom?” Osamu responded. He pulled out a handkerchief and wiped off Suna’s face. Suna shook his head.
“Is it too much to ask if I can stay with you? I don’t want to risk giving this to my little sister and grandma.” His voice was quieter than he wanted, but he was wiped out. He cleared his throat and spit in the trash can. He was fading fast. All he wanted was to curl up in bed and sleep whatever bug this was off.
“Yeah okay. I’ll ask my Ma. Shouldn’t be too much of an issue since Tsumu’s sick too.” Osamu pulled out his phone and massaged Suna’s scalp. It felt so good that he leaned over and buried his face in Osamu’s stomach. If he wasn’t careful, he’d fall asleep here. Hopefully Osamu’s mom would be okay with it and come quickly.
“Ma, can you come pick me and— no I’m not sick— well, if you’d just let me talk ya crazy—Ma I do have a good reason to be call— would ya stop talkin—yer damn right I’m being disrespectfu—Ma!” As Osamu argued with his mother over the phone (it was nothing new) Suna took inventory of his body.
There was no denying he was sick. That much was obvious. His head was pounding and his stomach still rolled and swirled uncomfortably. Shivers danced up and down his body, exacerbated by the sweat that coated his skin. He was sure that he had a fever. All of his limbs weighed him down and he didn’t think he had any sort of energy to move them. It was taking all he had to stay awake right now.
“Osamu-san!” The girl from before returned, the school nurse right behind her.
“Suna Rintaro, you poor boy. Caught that bug going around, I see,” he heard the nurse and pulled his face away from Osamu’s body. Blinking a few times to clear his blurry vision, he sniffed and stared at the old lady in front of him.
She stuck a thermometer in his mouth without saying a word and pulled a water bottle out from her coat pocket. While they were waiting for his temperature, Suna glanced at Osamu, who was now leaning against the desk behind Suna’s. His fingers pinched the bridge of his nose, his other still holding the phone to his ear as he continued listening to his mother rant.
Without thinking, Suna reached over and grabbed a hold of Samu’s shirt with one hand. Osamu looked down in surprise before his face softened and he put a hand on Suna’s shoulder.
The thermometer beeped and Suna winced.
“38.7,” the nurse read and pursed her lips. She pulled out some medicine from her lab coat and gave some to Suna. He grimaced. Even in his hazy state, he knew putting something in his stomach wouldn’t go over well.
“Suna-kun, you need to get that fever of your’s down. I know it’s not ideal, but please try.” Suna turned his head away. She sighed.
“Okay, but make sure you take something at home. Does someone need to call your mother?” Before Suna could answer, Osamu interrupted.
“I’ll take him ma’am,” he said, apparently off the phone with his mother.
“Osamu-kun, don’t you be thinking you can just skip out on school,” she warned.
“I would never,” Osamu charmed, “I think it’s the smartest move, ya see. Atsumu is at home with the same illness right now and so there’s no way I ain’t carrying the germs for it. Wouldn’t it be safest if I go home too? Before I infect anyone else. And I can take Sunarin with me.”
The nurse gave him a skeptical look, but then glanced over at Suna. She noticed his grip on Osamu’s shirt and the former’s hand firmly on Suna’s back. It must’ve made Suna look pretty pathetic because she relented almost immediately.
“Oh fine, fine. Does someone need to call your mom?”
“No, ma’am. Just got off the phone with her. She’ll be here soon. Said she’s got no problem taking Sunarin in ‘til he’s all better.” He squeezed Suna’s shoulder and Suna relaxed knowing he wasn’t at risk of infecting his little sister or aging grandmother. He sighed and smiled gratefully at Osamu.
It was comforting to know that Osamu was going to be looking after him. Because, if the swirling in his stomach told him anything, he was in for a really long night.

Zigzag, Chapter 2
Grace let out a blood curdling scream as she ran down the garden.
Tom chased after her and he managed to capture her halfway down, he wrestled her to the ground. ‘No escaping from me, love.’ He growled evilly against her ear.
‘NOOOOO!’ She squealed as he shoved more ice cubes down the back of her t-shirt.
He laughed wickedly and rolled over to let her go. She jumped up to her feet and started dancing around like crazy trying to get the cubes out.
‘Keep the noise down!’ Their old neighbour called from her window.
Tom looked sheepish as he stood up and waved to her. ‘Sorry, Mrs Roberts. Just enjoying the first proper day of sun. We will try and keep it down.’ He called to her with a charming smile.
‘Good… Thank you.’ The old woman nodded and ducked back inside.
Grace glared up at Tom and pushed his chest. ‘You’re an ass! That was mean.’ She then made her way back up the garden, muttering curses under her breath.
‘Just getting my own back for this morning, darling.’ He grinned, folding his arms over his chest.
‘Pfft!’ Was all Grace said in return as she went inside.
She had woken him up with a blowjob, but then refused to finish for him. Trying to get a rise out of him.
When Tom joined Grace back inside, she was pouring them both a cool drink. It was the start of summer and they were looking forward to it. Their first proper summer together. They’d been together for over a year now, but when they were in their early stages of dating last summer, it had been tentative touches and just getting to know one another.
‘Do you remember when we first met, you were completely tongue tied around me.’ Tom grinned and moved in behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
‘I do… I was worried you were going to think I was a mute because I couldn’t get the right words out.’ She laughed.
‘Mute or not, at the risk of sounding cheesy, it was love at first sight for me.’ Tom kissed her cheek, making her smile.
‘For me too… Until you grew that beard.’ She said and narrowed her eyes at said beard as she turned around in his arms.
His eyebrows shot up. ‘Don’t diss the beard. I know you love it when I go down on you, don’t think I haven’t noticed your orgasms are stronger since I grew some fuzz.’ Tom said with a purr as he stroked his beard.
‘Alright, alright. Maybe I do like the beard. But no longer than it is now, yeah?’ She put her arms around his neck.
‘Deal.’ Tom grinned, kissing her.
That afternoon Grace sat down to do some work. She had been asked to write about the serial killer on the regular. But she was a bit stuck, since he hadn’t made another appearance in the last month. She had written a column about the murder of the paedophile though. How the killer had left the body, making it a unique signature. On digging back through the past year’s murders, there were five others that had the same. So it was definitely the same person.
‘Maybe he’s died. Or moved somewhere else.’ Grace muttered when Tom came into the study with a drink and sandwich for her.
‘Hopefully.’ Tom put his arm around her and leaned down to kiss the top of her head.
‘But he’s doing good… ish. He’s getting rid of the bad people in the city. Or was.’ She grabbed a bite of her sandwich. ‘I dunno about you, but if I had a kid at school, I would be so relieved.’ She said with a mouthful.
Tom sat down on the sofa opposite her desk. He enjoyed watching her work, how focused she would be. Little things too, like the way she would sometimes nibble the end of her pen. How when she was on a roll writing she would on occasion tilt her head to the side and stick her tongue out.
‘True. But the thought of a serial killer in the city makes me uncomfortable.’ Tom shuddered.
‘You wouldn’t need to worry. You’re a proper gentleman, he would never have you for a target. Besides, you’d whoop his ass!’
‘What makes you say that?’ Tom smiled.
‘Because you’re the best.’ She said simply, grinning over at him.
‘Glad you think so, darling.’ Tom said as he sipped his drink.
After watching her do some research for a while, Tom wandered over behind her and put his hands on her shoulders to give her a massage.
‘Ohhh god, that feels good.’ Grace moaned and her head fell forwards.
Tom chuckled and kept it up. Getting all the knots out of her shoulders and neck, she was practically putty in his hands, almost melting completely.
‘Your hands are bloody magic. Have I ever told you that?’ She said as he slid his hands up and down her neck.
‘You have… Most days.’ Tom hummed. ‘Usually when my fingers are buried inside of your lovely cunt.’
She almost choked on air at his sudden change of tone. Unsure whether it was what he said or the fact he had his hands on her, her knickers were soaked right through already.
‘Bedroom… Now!’ She stood abruptly and grabbed his hand, dragging him along.
‘So bossy.’ He cooed, happily going with her.
-
That night, Tom told Grace he had to nip into work for a few hours.
But instead, he was stalking his next victim. His first female.
She deserved it, of course. In his mind anyway. He had been following her for near a month, she was difficult to pin down because her routine changed all the time.
She was a first-class bitch, owned her own company. She would flirt and tease with all her male workers, get them riled up and then when she lured them into making a move on her, she would cry rape and get them arrested for no reason. Taking it as far as she could.
Tom had been after one of the guys originally, thinking he was in the wrong. But after some digging, he soon realised it was a pattern at his place of work between the workers. Then he learned that it was actually the owner that was the virus of society.
She had to go.
But tonight, he had been able to track her down. She had been having a late-night swim at the pool. So he bided his time and kept hidden in the bushes until she was due to come out. It was getting dark, there was no one else around and the lighting in the car park was bad. He’d previously checked and knew the security cameras weren’t working here either. They’d been broken a long time ago, no one had bothered to fix them yet.
He slipped on his balaclava and gloves, left his bag in the bushes, and made his way over to her car. It was easy enough to break into without causing any obvious damage at the passenger’s side back door. He slid into the back and hid down behind the driver’s seat.
Tom didn’t have to wait long, she came out of the community pool and straight over to her car. She got in without checking in the back. Tom waited until she had shut the door and was about to start the engine, then he moved into action.
His hands flew out from behind her and he wrapped them around her throat easily, and started choking the life out of her. She tried to scream, but couldn’t. She also tried grabbing at his hands, but he was too strong and it didn’t take long at all before she was losing too much oxygen to even think of fighting back.
He found it a lot easier than killing the men. And it was his first kill using his hands, he thought since it was a woman, he would make it a little bit more intimate than using his belt or other tools.
‘No more crying wolf when there isn’t one.’ He snarled into her ear right before finishing her off with an extra hard squeeze, holding it until she was completely limp and dead.
It took him a moment, but he squeezed into the passenger’s seat so he could arrange her as he wanted. He had the seat recline back a little, enough so when he crossed her arms over her chest they would stay in position. Then he took out his knife and cut her left cheek in his signature zigzag mark.
A mere ten minutes since he’d first entered the car, the job was finished and he was sneaking out, back to the bushes to grab his rucksack before jogging away from the scene of the crime.
-
The following morning, Grace and Tom were sound asleep in bed when Grace’s phone rang.
‘Ugh.’ She grumped and after a few attempts managed to grab it from the side. ‘Hello?’
‘Grace! You need to get down to the community swimming pool right now.’ It was her boss at the newspaper.
‘What? Why?’ She asked, confused as she rubbed her eyes. Tom slipping his arms around her to pull her back into his warm body wasn’t helping.
‘The killer has struck again. Get down there!’
Grace’s eyes flew open, suddenly she was wide awake. ‘I’ll be right there!’ She hung up and scrambled out of Tom’s hold, clambering over the top of him and accidently kneeing him in the ribs.
‘Ow!’
‘Shit, sorry. I need to go!’ She ran to the wardrobe and hurriedly chucked on some clothes.
‘Why? Where’s the fire?’ Tom sat up and looked over at her.
‘The serial killer is back! He’s killed again. At the community pool. This could finally be my chance to get a good story!’ Grace said excitedly.
Tom half smirked, pleased with how excited she was about furthering her career, but he tried to hide it and act the concerned boyfriend. ‘Well, be careful. Is it safe to go down there?’
‘It will be heaving with police by now. So yep. I’ll call you when I can!’ She quickly tied her hair up in a bunch as she rushed back over to him, she leaned over and gave him a quick kiss.
‘Be safe, love.’ He called to her as she practically ran out the door.
‘I will!’

Summary: Best friends since childhood, you and Kihyun had always been by each other’s side before things began to turn in a different direction on Prom night. From then, things changed when you both transferred to college/university. Bonds collapse, deception and fear; what will the future hold?
[ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏 ]
9 years ago. . .
You remembered your mother’s fingers tap against her arm as she leaned upon the ivory door frame of your best friends’ bedroom. “can I please stay a little longer, Kihyun and I haven’t even finished building the house yet,” you pleaded to your mother who had a smile painted across her face despite being tired from her job and taking care of you. “We have to go now, who will feed Kiwi?” She pretends to be concerned knowing it’ll lure you back home. “no, no I will feed Kiwi,” you immediately stand up and leave the little lego pieces on the floor. “I have to go and feed my cat now,” you from at a tiny Kihyun who sat distraught at the fact you were leaving him. The sky darkened and the nocturnal animals were ought to come out around now. “wave goodbye,” your mother nudges you gently and so you do, with a wide smile and your eyes full of hope.
You and Kihyun met in daycare and ever since you became best friends. You did everything together and it went on into your senior years of school.
Moving on to further education, you and Kihyun attended the same schools including high school. High school was full of surprises and also many arguments too; friendships aren’t all as smooth as it seems. Kihyun waited at your locker after every lesson you had so you could both sit together with your other friends. Kihyun’s  5’7 slender physique leaned against the cool steel of the locker, his phone sitting in the curve of his hand, scrolling through what seems to be his text messages. He texted you around 3 minutes ago and huffed impatiently – he wasn’t the most patient person in the world - wondering where you were since your class finished exactly 3 minutes ago. The hallways were congested to the point where pushing pass was necessary. The scattered ‘excuse me’s and ‘sorry can I get past please’ were ever so repetitive but it got you through your high school experience up until now. You see Kihyun at your locker, his head resting against the steel.
“what took you so long?” his voice was fruity and oddly comforting to listen to. “my teacher wouldn’t shut up about our late assignments and was setting us more, I had no control over that,” you respond instantaneously as his arm draped around your shoulders. “right, I’ll give that to you,” he tuts and rolls his eyes playfully.
The pair of you ambled through the hallways towards the cafeteria and set your belongings down onto the round table and onto the chairs beside you to reserve them for your other friends since they were coming from the other side of the school. “Jooheon and Changkyun take so long to get here, I’m going to get food, do you want anything?” he asks you waiting to respond. “oh umm- yeah maybe like a sandwich or something?” you suggest. “That’s not enough, I’m buying you a meal,” he informed politely. – of course he’ll buy you a meal –
Jooheon and Changkyun finally make their way to the table where you sat, keeping it occupied so no one else sat there. “Yo where did Kihyun go?” Jooheon asks as he gets out a Kimbap roll from his bag and rips open the packet. You point at the queue where Kihyun was and notice a girl being pushed closer to him by her friends. “There they go again,” Changkyun sighs, “Let me go and help him.” Changkyun always knew these girls will throw themselves at whatever guy they would want to get their attention from and Kihyun hated it.
“o-oh sorry, I’ll keep moving forward,” He apologises to the girls knowing what they were doing. “It’s okay Kihyunnie,” the girl purred; Kihyun could swear he just threw up in his mouth. He ignored her until Changkyun came to save the day. “Kihyun how you doing?” his American accent ringing through the cafeteria. “Ah yes, the English card,” Jooheon nods whilst munching his roll. “Oh is this for me? Thanks, I’ll pay,” Changkyun says as he swipes his card and takes both trays with him and places it on the table. The girls look shaken behind them but in return Changkyun flashes a smug smile before seating himself next to you. “I hate them, they think they can do anything to get what they want,” Changkyun sighs, “you bought bought her lunch again but not for me, how sad,” He tuts, “ you need to pay me back since I paid for it actually so next ones on you alright?” he jokes with Kihyun before sliding the tray in front of you. “Thank you but you didn’t have to,” you pick up the cutlery that was on the tray. The girls walk past, their face painted with disgust whispering something to one another. Was it about you? The 4 of you sat together and talked about your lessons and gossiped about your teachers and also talked about that group of girls who have become an infection to your school. Luckily it was very soon until the end of the entire high school experience since prom was in a few months.
After you lunch break you didn’t have any classes left so you were contemplating whether to go home or stay to study. “Hey Kihyun, are you going to go home or stay to study?” you ask him, your honeyed tone captivating his attention. “Probably, I have a test to study for, do you want to go to the library or to some café?” he asks you. You think for a moment. It’d be more logical to stay at school and study in the library; “the library, I don’t think I can focus at a café,” You grab your books and notes from you locker and make your way to the library and find a table to sit at with Kihyun. The library was slightly fuller than usual, the tables had spaces for 4-6 people but it was only you and Kihyun sitting behind a shelf of books. You set your books and notebooks out for your Business class and open your text book which has an assortment of coloured sticky notes which were highlighted and extremely condensed down. “how?” Kihyun stares in awe at your study notes. “what? My notes?” you point at them “they’re really helpful, that extra effort its worth it” you smile softly at him. “yeah I know but how do you do it, I don’t even know where to start from.” Kihyun sighs. You delve into your bag again and grasp a hold of your transparent stationary holder which was filled with sticky notes, pens and bookmark sticky tabs. You pull your seat closer to Kihyun’s and move your hair behind your ear to help him and teach him how to take notes. You open his law textbook  and ask him what he needs to learn or understand so you knew where to start. “easy right?” you smile as you pass him some notes and memo sheets and he nodded his head, making himself believe that he new what he was doing. You turned back around to look at you textbooks, your eyes scanning the text book although Kihyun’s eyes often glanced away from the paper and pen and was captured by how focused you were, how you would unconsciously tuck your hair behind your ear, how your eyes scan the text you were reading and then articulate it into something concise yet informative. He needed a quick break to grab some water but you didn’t notice that he left since you were focused on studying. He placed a plastic cup on your desk and tapped your shoulder. “make sure you drink? Water is good for your brain” Kihyun smiles at you before sitting back down. “o-oh thank you!” you take the cup and drink the water, “I was going to have a short break anyway to get some water, how’s your notes going?” you ask him looking over to see a few notes here and there but he tried to cover it. “u-uh it’s, going okay.” You stand up to see the other side of him, he was doing quite well and learning how to take notes like you. “see you are doing good, isn’t it so much easier?” you ask him. He nods and hums his response. “don’t worry you’ll get the hang of it,” you nudge him softly.
An hour and a half passes and it was time to go home. You gather all your belongings organising them and putting them back into your bag, reaching for your jacket to which you find isn’t there to your surprise. “o-oh,” you sounded confused “ did I bring my jacket with me?” you ask Kihyun who had already shoved his textbook into his bag. “Oh um, You didn’t bring it with you from the cafeteria you might’ve left it there,” he shrugs “ we can go and look for it now?” He suggests and you agree with him, opening the doors to the library to leave. The school was oddly quiet. Probably because everyone leaves incredibly quickly but you and Kihyun make your way to the cafeteria and nothing was there. “ugh,” you grunt sounding annoyed “ whatever, I’ll look tomorrow and lost and found,” you drag yourself out of the cafeteria and head towards the exit.
“hey dumpling,” Changkyun calls out to get your attention. “stop calling me dumpling, It’s not cute or endearing,” you sigh “why are you still here?” you ask. “seems like someone lost their jacket,” he holds it in his hand, “ you have to get it though,” his smug smile appears gradually. You sigh and try to grab however he pulls It away from you and decides to mess with you and hold It above his head. “awh look at you, you can’t even reach it, that’s so cute” he chuckles. “just give it back, I want to go home” you whine before giving up, “I’ll walk home COLD then.” You turn around and walk knowing he’ll give it back; “okay okay hey, HEY, take it,” he says as he drapes it over your shoulder and Kihyun follows hands in his pockets. Walks home with Kihyun and Changkyun started to become the norm since the start of high school until now. You knew that once you move, everything will change and it haunted you so you enjoyed the moment whilst it lasted.
You arrived at your house and you wave your friends goodbye. “when will your mum make that soup again?” Changkyun asks. “I’m not too sure, I can ask her to make it on Friday?” You suggest. They both look at each other and nod their heads in unison.
It was late in the evening and you open your laptop; 9:45pm. You sigh. It’s been exhausting but you spent all evening tidying, cleaning and also resting after your meal. You lean back into your desk chair, the squeak startling your puppy Lucas. He hid under your bed from the sound then soon after leaving the dark abyss under your bed with a squeaky red ball. You open a word document that had over 9 thousand words for a project that you were doing for your business class. You’d study all night for your classes, some nights on call to Kihyun or another one of your friends, Irene. Tonight, you felt like being alone for some reason, perhaps because your best friend was a distraction?  - I’m probably a distraction too – you think to yourself. You look at your computer and think to play something just to get your mind off school for once. You had a selection of things to do for your classes but a slight break from school wouldn’t hurt. The bright screen of your PC lit up your dimly lit room, your window open to let in the winters breeze as well as the moon beaning outside of your window tonight. You grab your headphones and plug them into the headphone jack and you see Changkyun playing the game you wanted to play.
“Yo look at who’s on,” he says in his annoying mocking tone. “you’ve seen me play before, don’t act so surprised,” you scoff, “is Kihyun playing today?” you ask Changkyun. “I don’t think so, he said he had some notes to finish and study, what a loser,” Changkyun laughs “ I mean, he lives up to that name doesn’t he,” making you laugh a little. Changkyun had always been there for you and for Kihyun, making you and Kihyun always make up by doing the most absurd things he could think of. He comforted you as well as Kihyun.
Whilst you wait in the lobby, your phone screen lights up blue with a notification from Kihyun. It was a text message.
“hey my wifi died but I was going to message you to ask what you are doing?” Kihyun texted you. You responded back almost immediately; “ I’m online playing with Changkyun hbu?” you ask. The response was delayed by a couple minutes. “I’m studying atm, if only if could go online I’d play with you” he responds with a sad faced emoticon. “I wish you could too, maybe have an early night and rest, I’ll go in a bit too,” You message him. “I’ll go whenever you do,” – that’s new, he never used to wait for you– “I mean the rounds are really long but we can call if you want,” you tap at your screen. “ it’s okay, just message me okay,”
You start a round with Changkyun, immersing yourself into the game and occasionally yelling when he’d kill you or when he’d win. “hey! That’s not fair I was drinking!” you squeal when he sneaks around the corner and gets his final kill. “no! how?” you growl. “I have never heard you grown on voice chat,” Chankgyun burts into laughter “it’s cute don’t worry, it’s like a little tiger cub.” You hand reaches for your phone to text Kihyun; it had been at least 30 minutes since you last messaged him. “hey Yoo, you still awake?” you press the blue send button and wait for the response. You kept your phone unlocked and settled it onto your desk beside your pink bunny plushie Kihyun got for your birthday which was placed next to a framed photo of you both. You glanced at your phone every second but he hadn’t opened it or read the message, perhaps he fell asleep waiting for you? “Oi why are you so quiet? Did anything happen?” Changkyun noticed the drastic change in your behaviour. “oh it’s nothing I was just waiting for Kihyun to reply but I think he fell asleep.” You lock your phone after sending him a goodnight. “yeah probably, he doesn’t study for this long so many he just fell asleep and it is 1am-” he reminds you. “1am! Shit I need to go to bed,” you scurry around and put your things away, “I’ll play with you tomorrow or something whenever Kihyun is free, I’ll be going to bed now Goodnight!” you frantically leave the game and wash up and get ready for bed. You lean against your oak headboard, your phone between your hands and scroll through your Instagram. The girls who tried to shoot their shot posted and you felt a pit fall in your stomach making your mouth go bitter.– Why do they think they’re so entitled?– you scoff before locking your phone and setting it onto the wireless charging pad you got from Irene. You lay in your bed letting the cool air in your room circulating settle onto your skin making the little hairs on your arms raise. You close your eyes, your eyelids were heavy, and sunk into your mattress letting the cotton sheets intertwine with your body the warmth sheathing your body. You let out one last sigh before drifting off into a sound slumber.
6:30 am. You twist and turn until you turn your alarm off dragging yourself to your bathroom from your bedroom and push the tap up letting the water run until it went warm. You tiredly reached out for your toothbrush and toothpaste, squeezing the white paste from the tube then setting it down on the sink. Lucas whimpers at your feet wanting you to open the garden door for him so whilst you brushed your teeth you opened the garden door for him and continued your morning. You got dressed as usual and went to the kitchen to see what was for breakfast. It was an omelette roll and some sautéed vegetables. You quickly ate your breakfast with a cup of coffee and looked at your phone. “Good morning, sorry for not replying last night but studying is so exhausting! Are you taking the bus today?” Kihyun messages you. “yeah I am,” you reply sipping the bitter, lukewarm liquid from your cup before pouring it down the sink, “is it near my house?” you furiously type before bolting to your room to grab your bag, Airpods and your jacket. Before you were about to dash through the door, you remembered your lunch. “ugh whatever, I’ll just buy lunch,” you say to yourself before running to the bus stop.  You got there on time and go onto the bus; you search for Kihyun and there he was at the back, his bag reserving a seat for you before the girl from the day before spotted it thinking it was for her. – How humiliating– you slowly walk towards him.
“hey,” she flutters her lashes forcing her cutesy tone, “can I sit here?” she asks. Kihyun locks eyes with you and gulps, “oh um well- AH you are here!” he looks at you as you walk towards the two. You could see her eyes fill with fury and her blood could be heard boiling within her. “hey, did you save the seat for me?” you decided to pull her leg a little. She scoffs and turns around to realise that there are no seats, and she has to stand so she walked away and held onto the rings to keep her stable. “She won’t leave me alone,” Kihyun whispers to you, “what do I do?” you let out a soft laugh. “Don’t you know you get encounters like this because you’re single and prom is soon?” you shake your head “how naïve” you nudge him. “oh yeah true, you have a point.” He looks down at his phone scrolling through his feed and you glance over at him. “so, Kihyun, do you like anyone?” you hum leaning into him, trying to see his face, being playful like you usually are. “I-I don’t think I do,” he nods, “why are you asking?” his voice sounded apathetic when he replied. “did I say anything wrong? You sound really… off?” your playfulness disintegrated, and you were confused at his rapid change in emotion. “no you didn’t, I-I just didn’t have coffee this morning, I’m still a bit tired,” he clears his throat and looks outside, “Don’t worry about it, I didn’t mean to upset you.” He hands you a little chocolate truffle wrapped in gold.
The bus stopped at your school and you both got off however the girl shoved past you causing you to drop the wrapped chocolate on the floor which she then stepped on looking back to make sure you were looking. The evil in her eyes burned bright. Kihyun didn’t see what just happened since Changkyun ran up to him and began talking. You stand still for a second as people push past you, why was she so against you? –what did I do?– “Hey sleep well last night?” Changkyun asks you, his joyful voice added to his charismatic personality. “it was great, I had a nightmare that you broke into my house to get your final kill,” you laugh softly, “that wasn’t a good dream…” you roll your eyes. “wow, Kihyun do you hear this? She dreams of me,” Changkyun provokes you to react defensively, joking around with you. “You’re making it sound so wrong,” you yell. “you finish early right? Do you want to go for lunch together?” Kihyun’s honeyed voice asks you. “Of course, if you’re paying,” you smile endearingly. “Okay, I’ll pay” his arm wraps around your  shoulder before Changkyun decides to open his mouth again. “why don’t you just hold hands?” he jokes again “ you both look like a couple anyway,” He bites at his coffee straw. “No we don’t!” You laugh but only 2 of the three of you laughed at the harmless joke. “awh no, I have class,” Changkyun, “it’s fine you both can go we can hang out another day.”
Time was inching closer to your lunch break. It was nearly time to leave, just a couple more minutes. You eyed the time like you life depended on it, you were itching to leave the dingy classroom – I can’t wait to go to university– the ringing of the bell saves you from you thoughts eating you from inside. You dash out the door, or so you thought you would however Kihyun stood there waiting for you with your jacket he got from your locker. “Let’s go,” he smiles before putting his hand on your back and guiding you towards the exit. “damn you were quick,” you prodded his arm. “ well, you can always count on me, we’re like each others-“ he thinks for a moment, “we’re like each others Compass.” Kihyun’s words always sounded poetic one way or the other. He really knew how to sway you with his words, probably from all those years he made you feel comfortable and content whenever you had a hard time. “There’s this restaurant place down the road if you wanna go?” he points down the road. “oooh yeah sure, let’s go!” your ecstatic energy surprising Kihyun as you cling to his arm. He hesitated but the corner of his mouth curled into a smile and his hands rested in his pockets to seem as if he were chilled out in this situation when in fact he was yelling inside, at the top of his lungs.
The interior of the restaurant was simple yet pretty to look at. It was Bohemian inspired; the stained wooden chairs and tables and the white curtain like bunting on the plants above the ceiling. It also has an element of a rustic style too. You and Kihyun walked in and were seated; you look at the menu and your eyes scan down the laminated card. You point out a soup that you want and a drink too, “ these look really good!” you smile at him as he tries to keep himself at bay. “mmh yeah it does, I’ll get the same as you then!” He calls the waitress and orders what you wanted.  Lunched passed my sooner than you’d expected but you both get out your cards to pay.
“what are you doing?” Kihyun sounded perplexed to say the least. “paying for my lunch, what else Kihyun?” He pauses at you, eyeing you up and down then whisking the card away from you. “Not today, my treat okay?” he goes to a waitress as you wait at the table. He left his bracelet on the table so you swiped it into your bag to give to him later. When Kihyun turns around, it was like the gates of Heaven opened up; there was a luminescent glow outlining his angelic features, features that were carefully sculpted by groups of angels. He was just perfect. Whilst he leads you out, you both walk to the bus stop before he pauses and begins to speak. “you know you asked me if I like anyone,” he starts off getting your hopes up thinking he’ll tell you something that’d make your heart happy, “well, do you like anyone?” his head tilts like a little puppy would when they’re confused. “hmm..” you think, unconsciously smiling to yourself, “maybe maybe not Kihyun,” you shrug giggling at his ‘O’ shaped mouth. “You are unbelievable, did you know that,” he tuts, “whatever don’t tell me, the bus is here anyway.” The bus stops and he gets on scanning his pass and you follow and do the same. There were no seats so you both had to stand; he stood behind you and held the rings above and you held onto the railings. The bus jolted and you lost your balance slightly although managing to get a hold of yourself but at the next stop, a group entered the  vehicle and it was cramped. There was a middle aged man toppling onto you and as the bus jolted again he nearly crushed your petite frame until Kihyun shielded you. You looked at him. What an angel.
“Hey, Kihyun…” you whisper and he lowers down slightly to hear what you have to say with a cheerful bright smile on his face that beamed like a sun on a summers day, “you wanna know who I like right?” you giggle into his ears. His ears burned a pinkish-red; “I really really like Changkyun.”

you showed me faith is not blind (miracles happen)
Pairing: Alex/Willie Words: 3,416  Rating: T  Warnings: none  Chapter: 1/11 read on AO3
Summary: “I don’t suppose you’ve heard of Frederick Alexander Louis Mercer?” his grandmother asks with a deep frown, crossing her ankle behind her other foot carefully. He frowns. Here’s that pub trivia he doesn’t know. “No, I can’t say I have.” “Frederick was Beasiga’s crown prince,” she tells him with a meaningful look, which he doesn’t understand. She leans forward. “And Frederick was your father.” Alex’s mind blanks. “That’s… okay,” he says, bobbing his head in a quick nod as he presses his lips together and bites the insides of them, trying to will some thoughts back into his mind. “I don’t think—I’m not sure you’re quite right on that. Because if you were, then—“ “Then you would be Alexander Charles Taylor Mercer, Prince of Beasiga.”

"On the edge of great, on the edge of great, on the edge of great," Alex sings into the microphone, listening to the rest of his band around him and hearing the audience of their music class as he performs his midterm with his band. On one hand he's thankful that the four of them only have to perform once for all of their grades instead of four separate performances—less opportunities to mess up. However, on the other hand, he's bummed about it because it means they only get to play in front of their class once rather than four times. Performing music for a live audience is like nothing else—even if it's an audience as simple as a group of thirty high school students. The music their band makes is undeniable, so even while listening to performances is routine in this class, most of the students still end up getting into their music and dancing along.
Alex drums and sings along and watches Julie from behind as she belts out her high note at the beginning of the final chorus. He can't keep the grin off his face as he sees various students dancing in their seats to the song. He makes eye contact with a few and even sends one of them a wink, just as he hits his last cymbal before Julie and Luke go into their duet over the piano. He looks towards his two band mates and friends and smirks at them being just a little too close for a midterm performance, but—glancing at Mrs. Harrison—the teacher doesn't seem to mind, so. The two of them finish and all four of them stand and take a bow, and Alex lets the cheers and clapping wash over him.
"Very impressive," Mrs. Harrison compliments. "Who composed the song?"
"Julie and I wrote the lyrics, all four of us worked on the melody and harmonies, and each of us worked on our individual instrument to compose our piece," Luke answers readily.
"It was very well done," she nods at each of them in turn. "I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your grade. You all may take your seats."
Alex follows behind Reggie to their group of four seats in the back of the music class room, nodding at a few of his class mates as he goes when they offer him praise. When they get back to their seats Mrs. Harrison calls for the classes attention and then next performance goes, and then Flynn goes next, and then music is over for the day.
"We nailed that," Luke bursts as soon as the bell rings to end class.
"Luke, what was that riff at the end of the bridge?" Reggie asks with wide eyes. "It was killer."
"You think so?" Luke asks, bouncing on the balls of his toes. "I didn't mean to improv but it came to me and it sounded so good in my head so I just—"
"Luke," Julie smiles softly, placing a hand on his upper arm, "don't worry. It was incredible. You were right to add it in."
Luke looks between the other three band members and bites his lip. "Yeah?"
Alex laughs. "Yeah, buddy."
"Awesome," he grins, swinging his backpack up onto his shoulder and hopping towards the door. "And now—that's three midterms down and only two to go."
Alex groans. "I only have one left."
Reggie frowns. "Why are you more upset about that then Luke is about two?"
Alex sends a look at Reggie. "It's public speaking."
"Oh no," Julie murmurs from next to him, reaching up to rub a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You'll be okay. Just imagine you're sitting behind your drums."
"Yeah, that's never worked."
"Imagine you're on stage with us," Luke says from Julie's other side, tossing his arm around Julie's shoulder and leaning in her space so far that he's nearly in Alex's space as well.
"That's also never worked."
They reach the cafeteria then and their conversation falls away as they make their way through the lunch line. Alex grabs only an orange, because if he's going to be giving a speech in the next two hours, he doesn't want to give his stomach much ammunition.
They make their way to the back table of the cafeteria where Flynn, Willie, and two of Willie's skateboarder friends, Greg and Shawn, are waiting for them. Alex can count the amount of words he's said to Greg and Shawn over the past two years on both his hands, but they shared Willie nicely, so that was enough for him.
See, Alex had met Willie in elementary school at recess—it had to be at recess because Willie was a grade above him. Alex remembers Willie doing cool tricks on all the playground equipment—flipping off the benches, pin wheeling on the bars, jumping off the parallel bars—exciting things like that. He'd always had Alex's attention. And then in fourth grade Alex jumped off the swing really far (he'd never admit it was on accident). Obviously this started a jumping contest off the swings and the only one who bested him had been Willie, who came over and introduced himself after the recess aides stopped the competition. At the time, Alex didn't know what he was feeling when Willie smiled at him. He'd been told crushes were for girls, so he didn't realize that his crush was on a boy. Over time he'd learn though, and over time it'd develop.
It wouldn't progress much further though until Willie was in tenth grade and Alex was in ninth, both of them at high school. It was Alex's second week at high school and he lost rock, paper, scissors to Luke and had to go up to the concession stand at the beach to get everyone their hot dogs. On his way back to the group, however, Willie skated right into him. After lengthy apologies, Willie took him back to the concession stand and bought him new hot dogs in apology, plus an extra one, and joined them. That day would cement Alex's helpless crush on Willie which—
Has not gone away now that they're half way through fall term in Alex's junior year of high school.
Ask him how he's doing.
"Hey, hot dog!"
(He's doing great.)
"Hey, puka," Alex rolls his eyes back, eying the puka shell necklace around Willie's throat. Willie grins wide at him, bouncing his eyebrows up and down. Alex moves to take his seat next to Willie.
Willie takes a bite of his sandwich and looks at the group. "How'd your music midterm go?"
"So well they left me there," Flynn huffs from where she's picking her lunch out of her lunch box. "I had to put my trumpet away and by the time I was done they were gone!"
"You know what Luke is like after a performance," Julie apologizes to her friend. "I couldn't keep him still if I tried."
"It's for that reason and only that reason that you're forgiven," Flynn says.
"Our midterm was amazing though," Luke jumps in as soon as Flynn finishes speaking. He looks up to the ceiling and shakes his head. "Man, I wish you were in the music program so you could have seen it—but we'll play it for a gig soon, so I guess you didn't miss too much—"
"We did kill it though," Reggie leans forward, around Alex, to see Willie. "So you can be sad about missing that."
"Consider me sad, then," Willie says. "Flynn, how did you do?"
Flynn answers, and the rest of the table is quiet, giving Alex a moment to let his mind wander. Next period is his public speaking class, and his final midterm. His biology midterm had been yesterday, so after public speaking he's technically free to go—well…
Not actually. He's got an obligation after school today, but. He's not exactly sure how he feels about it.
He doesn't need to think about that now, though, because the rest of lunch passes with various conversations ranging from the start of new songs ("where's my notebook—write that down, write that down!"), cats versus dogs ("you can train cats too, you just don't have enough patience"), and the dance team ("there were kazoos and immediately I knew I was in the wrong"). It's a good distraction from his impending doom of public speaking, but when the bell rings to dismiss them from lunch to class, he realizes that it was just that: a distraction.
He feels his hands clam up, his breathing pick up, and his pulse skyrocket. He can't even force himself to get up from his seat.
"Hey," Julie's voice says from across the table. "We'll be here for you after your speech, yeah? I have a free period after next period since we already took our history midterm so I'll meet you here, okay?"
Willie's hand falls on his shoulder and Alex is already tense so it doesn't even matter that he gets even tenser. "Hey, man," he says "I read through your speech like, ten times. It's ace, you've got this. Don't even bother looking at the audience, just read right off the paper, okay? You don't even need public speaking skills, you're gonna be a fucking rock star."
"C'mon," Reggie says, standing behind him. "I'll walk you to class."
Alex looks at each face surrounding him, and each of them are encouraging, each of them believe in him. He closes his eyes then and swings his legs over the bench and stands up. "Yeah, let's go."
"Good luck!" he hears a group chorus behind him, but he doesn't look back to acknowledge them, doesn't think he can because if he looks back then he'll see their faces and he'll want to hold on to them and so he focuses on the feeling of Reggie's arm brushing against his and keeps walking forward. It doesn't even take them two minutes to get to class, and then Reggie is shaking Alex's shoulder and wishing him luck. Alex doesn't look at Reggie's face for the exact same reason he didn't look back at his group of friends. He doesn't think he'd actually go into class if he'd looked at Reggie.
So he doesn't look at Reggie, and instead walks into the classroom where Mr. Kullins is waiting. Alex takes his seat—second row next to the window—and waits while the rest of the class files in. He pulls his speech out of his backpack and stares at it. He mumbles to himself, reciting his speech as students fill their seats.
"You never write a theme for a movie thinking 'this will live forever.'" John Williams, famous composer, said this. He and countless other composers create the accompaniment to films we know and love. Consciously, we hardly pick up on these melodies, but subconsciously, they influence how we consume the media. A good score can cause a tear, while a great score can make you weep. A good score can make you pause while a great score can make you hold your breath. A—
The bell to start class rings and Alex clenches his fist tightly around the edge of his desk, fighting down the wave of nausea that rises up in his throat. Mr. Kullins is speaking in the background, welcoming everyone to class, explaining that they'll be finishing up the last of the midterms today. It's in alphabetical order by last name, and Alex isn't sure if he's glad to have been granted the grace of going on the last day, or if he wishes he had just gotten it over with on the first day.
McConnell, Rebecca goes first and Alex's nausea rises. Then Stenson, Ryan goes, and the nausea is in every part of Alex's body now, from his head to his toes. Then Mr. Kullins calls Taylor, Alex, and Alex really, genuinely thinks he's going to be sick.
Don't even bother looking at the audience, just read right off the paper, okay?
Right—like Willie had said, he could pretend he was just reading it to himself, right? Just read it straight off the paper. Alex stands from his desk and walks to the front of the room, going to stand behind the podium that's set up for their speeches. He sets his speech down on the stand and doesn't lift his head, not once.
"Everyone, give Mr. Taylor your full attention," Mr. Kullins says from where he sits behind his desk, and Alex wants to scream at him. No! Let them—let them go on their phones! Let them talk to each other! Don't make them pay attention to me!
He starts by taking in a deep, quivering breath. "'You never write a theme for a movie thinking 'this will live forever.''" Alex pauses here, swallowing. He can hear people in the audience shuffling. Someone shifts in their chair and he glances up to see who it was. Shit. All of their eyes are on him. Quickly, he looks back down at his paper. The words are blurrier than they were when he started, and there's a pressure in his head that wasn't there at lunch, but he presses on. "John Williams, famous composer, said this. He… and countless other composers… create the accompaniment to films we know and love… Consciously," he glances up again against his better judgment and feels his face flush hot when he connects eyes with one of the students. "Uh. Consciously, we hardly pick up on these melodies, but subconsciously—" Alex cuts off when a large black dot dances in front of the words he's reading. His throat is burning all the way down to his gut. Without thinking, he leans both his arms on to the podium and hides his face between them.
In, 2, 3, 4.
There's murmurings from around him, but he can't lift his head.
Hold, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
There's a louder murmuring from closer to him this time, but he can't, he can't.
Out, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
There's a hand on his back.
His head shoots up, and the room spins.
"Mr. Taylor?" Mr. Kullins asks with a cautious voice, and oh, does he have a lot to be cautious about right now.
"Gotta sit," Alex says quickly, moving to the back wall as quickly as he could to slide down it and put his head between his knees to continue his breathing exercise. He might have felt embarrassed, but the alternatives were passing out or throwing up—he'd know, it's happened multiple times before.
He hears footsteps all around him and the shuffling of desks as he assumes students are trying to move to get a better look at him, but he keeps focused on his counts, and lets Mr. Kullins tell them that the next student is going to go. Someone gets up from their desk and shuffles their papers around before settling it on the podium. Alex briefly wonders what happens to his paper.
The rest of class passes with Alex curled up in the back of the class room, listening to his final three class mates give their speeches, and then they're done. There's extra time left before the bell rings, so that means extra time for everyone to stare at him, so he picks his head up, confident that he's not going to pass out or throw up anymore, and looks at Mr. Kullins. His teacher looks back at him and wheels over in his chair to Alex and frowns at him.
"Are you okay?"
"Now I am. I was about to pass out," Alex explains, far beyond feeling embarrassed about it.
"Does… that happen often?"
"With public speaking?" Alex asks. "Yes."
Mr. Kullins frowns. "We'll speak with Principal Lessa, see if we can't get something figured out. You're not the first one. Do you think you'd be able to do your speech for just me?"
"No, yeah, that would be fine, I just… not… crowds."
"Aren't you in a band?"
Alex nods, just as the bell rings. He carries on, anyways. "Yeah. But that's—different. First, I'm not alone when I'm with my band. Second, I'm good at drums. I'm not good at speeches."
His teacher sighs. "Alright. Your midterm grade will be delayed but we'll speak with Principal Lessa next week."
"Thank you, really."
He nods. "Your speech is on the edge of my desk. Don't forget it when you leave. Are you okay to leave?"
"Yeah," Alex nods, pushing himself to his feet. He's a little unsteady at first, but his balance comes back quickly and he's able to make his way to Mr. Kullins desk and grab his speech. He goes to gather his backpack then, stuffing his speech inside of it, and waves goodbye to his teacher, who waves back.
When he leaves the classroom, he makes his way to the cafeteria like he promised Julie he would. She's waiting for him at their usual table, waving and beaming. He offers a small smile back as he sets his bag down.
"You got through it!" she yells. "It's over!"
Alex laughs humorlessly and slips on to the bench. "No, it's not."
The smile drops off of Julie's face. "What?"
"I nearly passed out, so we're talking to Lessa and I'll be giving my speech to just Kullins. Which, is better, I guess, but now I still have to worry about it until next week."
"Oh, Alex," Julie sighs. "I'm sorry. I wish the band could just… be there with you."
"That'd be nice," he says, putting his elbows on the table. "But I still suck at speaking anyways, so I'm not sure how much that would help."
"Alex, that speech you wrote is amazing," Julie says. "You're good at words, which is what speaking is. What you're concerned about is how people perceive you. When you have us with you, you think that people are looking at you similar to how they look at us just by association and you're okay with that because you love us. But when you're alone you think that people are looking at you similar to how you look at you, at that's nitpicking every little thing and criticizing every fault."
Alex blinks, stares at her. He feels his mouth open, ready to defend himself, but he's not sure what he'd actually say, so he forces it shut again. Julie sits, staring at him, unwavering. He leans forward on his elbows and brings his hands together, twining his fingers. "I… okay."
Julie rolls her eyes and huffs a small laugh. "Come on, Alex, you know I'm right."
"Do I?" Alex asks, voice pitching up an octave. Because, really. Does he? He's pretty sure it's more due to what he told Mr. Kullins—he's good at drums, he sucks at speeches. Even if he is good at words like Julie said, speeches are an entirely different brand of words. They're spoken word. And that… that is the kind of word that Alex does not do. See, if his assignment were an informative written paper on the impact of film and television scores, yeah, Alex would ace that. But it's not. And not because he thinks his class is looking at him the same way he looks at himself, Julie, but because he sucks at speeches. He says 'uh' too much, he pauses in weird places, his flow is weird, his thoughts wander, and he could go on. There's no room for any of that in papers—well, yes there is, but they can be edited out, is the point.
Julie reaches a hand across the table and covers Alex's fingers with it. She shakes it and offers a soft smile. "You should. You would kill speech class, Alex. You just have to get out of your head."
"Yeah, the person with anxiety has to get out of their head," Alex says, flipping his hand over so he can grab hold of hers. He shakes her hand so her arm wiggles. "Never heard of that quick fix before."
"Hey, I never called it a quick fix! Just said it needed to happen."
Alex smiles at her and pulls his hands back. "I'll keep that in mind." Julie lets him drop the subject after that and they turn their attention to their home work, settling into silence.

With the arrival of the bell came the flood.
You got caught in it. Dragged into the depths of the sea that was the main hall. You grunted and fought against the current, as students barged their way past you, slamming roughly against your shoulders as you clutched onto your books for dear life.
It seemed never-ending, it actually felt like you were moving backwards as more and more people rushed, trying in vain to arrive to their next class on time.
You didn’t think that college would be like this.
You thought it would be peaceful and calm, like a pond or a small lake.
Not the damn sea during a hurricane.
It was probably because it was the first day, and everyone was still trying to catch their bearings. Or because this hall was seriously the most used and classes held up to two hundred people. Whatever the reason, you felt a sudden panic attack crawling up your throat like a corpse clawing out of the grave. You knew that very soon you would lose it, and so you began to count in your head to calm yourself down.
“I…2…3…4—” push “—5…6—” shove “—7…..8….9….”
Before you could lose your cool, you broke the surface and felt the cold wind snap deliciously against your damp face. You closed your eyes and sighed with relief as you realized that you had won.
You battled against the human sea and you beat it victoriously.
But could you deal with that every other day?
You shuddered as the thought hit you and decided to ignore it for the meantime. You had to admit, despite that near death journey you had just trekked, your first day as a college student wasn’t as bad as you—and your parents, not to mention your little sister—had imagined. Today was Monday, and on Mondays, you had three classes: English 1102, Math 1143, and Introduction to Art.
You had just left the math department and now had a couple hours to kill before your last class.
You decided to call your best friend, Suho, and see if he had escaped his side of campus.
“Hello?” He answered happily—did he have any other emotion?
“I nearly died just now. This hallway is lethal, I don’t know if I’ll make it.”
“Well, I’m glad you made it out alive. When does your next class start?”
“In two hours. Wanna get lunch?”
“Absolutely, I’m starving. Meet me at the Student Union building?”
“Okay, see you then.” You hung up and tried your hardest to recall just where exactly the Student Union building was located.
Nearly twenty minutes later, you stumbled upon the holy land. You found Suho almost immediately and rushed over to his table.
“What took you so long?” He wondered, munching on a fry.
You plopped down in the seat across from him and let out an exhausted breath, “I forgot how to get here. I had to backtrack like four different times.”
He sighed, “You could have called me, I would have helped you.”
“I’m aware,” you dismissed, stealing a fry from his tray. He frowned, but didn’t do anything to stop you from stealing another one.
“It’s the first day, and I’m already beat,” you muttered after you had returned to the table after leaving him briefly to buy a cold sandwich, a bag of salty chips, and a bottle of green tea.
“And it’s not even over yet,” Suho reminded you with a smile on his face.
“Can you not? I don’t want to think about that just yet.”
“At least it’s art. You can unwind in your last class. My last class is Physics, there is no unwinding in physics.”
“You’re smart, you can literally handle anything.”
He cocked his head to the side and studied you. Once he caught your attention, you stuck your tongue out at him and drained your drink, smacking your lips obnoxiously when you were done.
“it’s a wonder we’re even friends,” he mused aloud around his sandwich.
You shrugged, “you still have time to run.”
He grinned, not missing a beat, “I wouldn’t even dream of it.”
You held out your semi-empty plastic bottle, “I’ll drink to that.”
He chuckled and lifted his own soda can, your drinks clinking exotically together, confirming your status as best friends for life.
Which Suho was. The two of you had known each other since you were five. Your fathers were childhood friends that lost contact after college, but somehow—when the two of you were five—reunited and stuck to each other like glue. Even opening their own music store together. Kim Junmyeon, who was lovingly addressed as Suho, and you grew up at the music store, learning how to play different instruments as well as the ropes to owning a business, and the chemistry between your fathers ultimately rubbed off onto you, causing yet another family-like bond.
“You are taking piano, aren’t you?” You asked him a few minutes later.
His attitude shifted instantly as his smile faltered a tad. It was barely noticeable, but you could read this young man in front of you like a book.
“Junmyeon,” You said warningly, using his real name to show how serious you were.
He sighed, “I want to. I just… so much is already on my plate, and I didn’t want to burden my parents with another credit and…”
“And you just didn’t want to,” You finished for him. You lowered your voice, “I thought you liked music.”
“Of course I do, but that’s something our fathers love. Music is their dream, not ours.”
You pouted. He was right, even you weren’t taking any classes related to music, but you were still planning on practicing the viola on your own time. Music was in your blood, it was just as unavoidable as Suho. You didn’t know what life would be like without it, and quite frankly, you didn’t want a life without it.
Suho adored music more than you did. When his father first taught him how to play the piano, he had to be forcefully removed from the bench. There was nowhere else he would rather be, and as he grew, so did his talent. He was so talented, that he won many competitions, and even wrote compositions for many popular songs heard on the radio today.
He was a prodigy.
You? Well, you just liked to play. You were nowhere near as good as Suho, despite the many things he had told you, and you knew that and was fine with it. For you, it didn’t matter if you won or lost, as long as you got to play. You learned how to play the guitar, clarinet, drums, and even the piano, but nothing called to you like the viola. It was an extension of yourself, and Suho once said that when you played, people could tell you transported into a different realm. You were in your own little universe, and would only return once the piece was finished.
“It can be both, couldn’t it? You play so well…” You could tell Suho felt uncomfortable and would rather not discuss the matter anymore, so you just let your sentence carry. Instead, talking about everything else and nothing for the rest of your time together. “Well, my class is about to start in ten minutes. Luckily, I know where the art building is. I’ve only been going there since I was twelve.”
You tried to laugh, but got nothing out of Suho. His smile still plastered on his face, but his eyes dull as he pulled himself up and collected your trash, throwing it in the trashcan and following you out into the crisp fall air.
The art building was very hard to miss. It was one of the bigger buildings because the college you attended focused mostly on the arts, and was painted a bright blue, while every other building was a tan brick color.
“Paint me something nice, alright?” Suho said once you both stopped outside the doors of the building.
You rolled your eyes, “You know I suck at painting, Su, I’m more of a charcoal person.”
He shrugged, “I still want a painting. Charcoal is so boring.”
You smacked his shoulder, “go. Before I lose my temper.”
He laughed and held his arms up in surrender, “We wouldn’t want that now would we?”
He sauntered away and left you to stare up at the intimidating building. Hesitantly, you pried the glass door open and scuttled into the structure. Noise overwhelmed you. You could hear many people tuning their instruments, and the noise of a teacher counting and the soft thud of footsteps. If you listened harder, you could faintly make out people singing.
It was beautiful.
The cacophony of sound settled around you in a somewhat numbing hum, beckoning you to walk even deeper within the building. Almost all the doors were open and you peered into each one, loving everything that you saw. A chubby boy wailing away on his trombone. A lanky boy with a mop top and a short thick girl with glasses singing a duet. What appeared to be an African dance class. A trio practicing on their violins. A boy twirling about in an empty dance room.
You paused once you glanced inside the dance room. He was doing barrel turns across the room, and when he reached the end, he pirouetted for what seemed like a long time, stopping smoothly with one foot resting in back of him and his arms held out in the perfect stance.
He was breathing hard as he dropped his position and ran his fingers through his dark hair, dragging the strands away from his face, only for them to return. He must have felt your stare, because he suddenly swiveled his head to meet you eyes.
He was gorgeous, to put it simply. He had slightly tan skin and perfectly shaped almond brown eyes and a straight nose, and lips that seemed to be the center of his face. He looked almost ethereal as he attempted to catch his breath and sweat slid alluringly down his lean frame and his eyes remained on you.
“Lost?” He asked. His tone wasn’t mocking, simply curious.
His voice was just as lovely as his features. You shook your head, “Just looking around.”
He walked up to the mirror where a drawstring backpack laid, and pulled a small towel out of it, wrapping it around his neck, “class starts pretty soon, doesn’t it? You might be late,”
“Oh. Yeah, I guess you’re right. It’s so easy to get distracted in this building. There’s so much going on.”
“First day?” He asked with an understanding nod of his head.
You returned the nod with a rushed one of your own, “I’m in sensory overload at the moment.”
“Happens to all of us.”
He turned around and headed back to the corner of the room. You stared at his retreating frame for a moment and then decided it was time to leave. “See you around then.”
He turned his head so that you could see the outline of his nose and raised a hand, “see you.”
You had to forcefully remove yourself from the doorway, and practically run to your classroom, making it in with thirty seconds to spare.
~*~
After your last class was finished, you headed over to the dorms.
You still could not believe you were actually living on your own, away from your parents and sister. And as you stepped into your new home, you couldn’t help but grin.
It was small, but cozy. With a living room that held a couch, there was one bedroom that your roommate and you would be sharing and you got your own bathroom which was nice.
You noticed that your bedroom door was open and you could faintly make out a voice coming from within. It appeared your roommate was in. You hadn’t met her yet, and was nervous. Would you like her? Would she like you? You carefully tiptoed towards the door and paused in the threshold. She was singing under her breath and it was beautiful. The words did not sound very familiar to you, but her voice was so lovely, you found myself creating notes to accompany her with in you head.
Finally, you grew the courage to gently knock on the wall and peek your head in.
She was sitting at a white vanity she must had brought with her, and was clipping something into her jaw length black hair. She spun around quickly, startled.
Once you were facing each other, you carefully examined the other. She was gorgeous, but seemed a bit rebellious with her black lace clothing and scruffy boots. With the light from the window on her hair, you spotted green and blue highlights in it. Her eyes were covered in kohl and her lips were set in a hard line, but you noticed the tips curled slightly in a mischievous grin.
After your slight stare down, she held out her hand, “Park Sunyoung. But I go by Luna.”
You smiled and marched in to shake her hand and introduced yourself as well.
“Like what I’ve done with the place?” She smirked, spinning around to face the mirror again.
The room was placed in such a way that each half was your own. Her side was crowded. The white walls were covered with posters. You spotted both movies and boy and girl groups respectively. She had a purple fluffy mat on the wooden floor, and clothes were strung there and about. She also placed a flat screen television on a dresser that she pushed in the middle of a wall so that it was between your beds.
You glanced at your side, You had only put sheets on your bed, leaned your viola case against the wall, and tossed your suitcases on your bed. It was—and would still be once you finished unpacking—bare compared to hers.
You nodded your head, “you just moved in?”
She nodded her head also. “Bout to grab a bite to eat. Wanna come?”
You bit your lip. You wanted to unpack and maybe practice your instrument for a while, but the need to make friends overwhelmed you, especially a girlfriend. “Sure.”
You watched as Luna hopped off her chair and grabbed a black homburg hat before snatching your wrist and dragging you out of your room.
You entered the cafeteria five minutes later, the building was bustling with life and you couldn’t help but to search around, looking at your fellow schoolmates.
There were a bunch of different stores to choose from, and after watching Luna tap her chin while glaring at each station, you both finally decide on Chinese. You grabbed your plates and then Luna pulled out her phone, dialing a number before she pressed it to her ear.
“Yah! Where are you?” She laughed. Your eyes widened. You were not planning on meeting other people. “I can’t see you! Oh! By the taco station? Mmm… Okay, on my way.” She hung up and glanced at you, tilting her head in the direction she was heading before walking off. You quickly tried to match her pace. You arrived at a round table with seven chairs and two girls sitting there in comfortable silence.
“Hey!” Luna sang as she pulled a chair next to one of them, you quickly followed suite.
The girl next to Luna had brown hair that she had cut really short, a pixie cut. While the girl beside her had straight black hair that cascaded down her body. The one with the pixie cut was sporting a guy tank top and khakis while the one beside her was wearing a black and white stripped dress and blood red lipstick.
“Who’s the stranger?” The girl next to Luna asked, studying you.
“This is my roommate,” Luna beamed with pride and you smiled shyly as she introduced you. “This is my cousin Victoria and our friend, Amber.”
“Nice to meet you,” you greeted.
“Are you a freshman like Luna?” Amber asked, giving you her full attention.
You nodded, “what grade are you in?”
“We’re both juniors,” Victoria supplied, taking a giant bite of her food.
“So… how was your first day?” Amber asked Luna, who rolled her eyes.
“Fine. I guess. All I had were generals today. I can’t wait till my fun classes begin.”
“Are you, by any chance, in choir?” You asked.
She stared at you with wide eyes, “oh god, no! What makes you think that!?”
“Well,” you began nervously. “I heard you singing when I entered the room…”
“Oh~~” The three nodded.
“I do love singing,” Luna informed somewhat sheepishly. “I just…”
“She just doesn’t like to do things when told to do them.” A girl who just walked up to the table finished for Luna, pulling the chair next to Victoria out and unceremoniously plopping down. She was tall and skinny and had long blonde hair. Just like Luna, she was wearing dark clothes and makeup, her expression unimpressed.
Another girl who was the polar opposite took a seat beside her. She had reddish-brown hair that went down to her collarbones and was wearing a pink skirt and shirt and a genuine bright smile. She instantly reminded you of Suho.
“Shut up, Krystal,” Luna barked.
“Make me,” the Krystal girl retorted, sticking her tongue out.
“Choir is just so stuffy,” Luna defended herself. “You have to sing three octaves higher than you normally do, have to wear hideous outfits, and have to move your mouth like this,” she began to open and close her mouth in a way that resembled a fish. “It’s horrible.”
“Plus, she never goes to class, so she’d probably get dropped,” Krystal grinned wickedly at Luna.
“Didn’t I tell you to shut up?!” The two began to bicker, and you locked eyes with the bright girl next to Krystal who was looking at you.
“What is your name?” She asked. You told her and asked for hers in return. “I’m Sulli. Sorry about my friends. They tend to not have manners.”
“I heard that!” Krystal screeched and smacked Sulli’s shoulder, causing her to wince. She then turned her gaze to you. “I’m not that bad, really. I’m Krystal, by the way.”
You introduced yourself to her and she boldly held out her hand for you to shake. Her hand was very soft.
“Are you a freshman?” She asked and you nodded your head. “Cool. So are Sulli and me. Are you Luna’s roommate?”
“Yes she is, so can you stop asking so many questions?” Luna asked, exasperated.
Krystal shrugged, sniffing a cup of fruit, “just curious. I’m surprised you’d invite her along. I know how much you hate new people.”
“I don’t—”
“YES YOU DO!” The four interrupted Luna, causing the whole table to laugh.
“You all suck,” Luna pouted, but a smile tugged on her lips.
“Welcome to our crew,” Victoria said to me, holding up a bottle of apple juice. You lifted your own drink and you all chugged the liquid.
It tasted like a long friendship.
~*~
Back in your room, all unpacked and exhausted, you laid on your bed. Luna was taking her last class of the day, which was at eight, and she wasn’t very excited about that, so you had the place to yourself. You wanted to play your viola, but was so tired, you couldn’t budge.
Vibrating caught your attention and you groaned as you felt around for your phone. Once found, you answered it without bothering to check caller I.D.
“I take it you’ve already eaten?” Suho asked you from the other end.
You grinned, “What makes you so sure?”
“Because you aren’t harassing me about how you will die any second if you don’t get any food in you soon.”
You sighed, “You know me so well.”
“That’s why I hold the title of best friend.”
“Sorry. Are you hungry?”
“Kind of.”
“Did you just finish your last class?”
He was silent for a second, “no. I, uh, finished it a while ago.”
“Well why didn’t you call me then?”
“I was…distracted. Come down. I’m at your dorm.”
“But, Suho!”
“You shouldn’t have unpacked all at once. That’s your fault. Hurry!”
He hung up and you had no choice but to get your lazy butt up and head downstairs.
He was outside the building, leaning against the cool brick.
“What is the rush?” You asked once you spotted him.
“It’s the first week of school, there is so much we could do!”
“Like…?”
“Like visit the art building and watch people.”
Your eyes brightened and you hurriedly pushed Suho, he laughed at your eagerness and you headed over to your favorite building.
“I should have brought my instrument,” you pouted as the doors opened.
Suho shook his head and you entered the first room you found.
There were a couple kids acting in this one. You watched for a minute, but you both knew which rooms you wanted to really be at.
“Let’s just go to the music room,” You ordered. You started running down the familiar halls, eager to enter the one room you had been in over the years.
Suho continued walking, and you wondered if it was because he didn’t want to go to this room after all.
You entered the room and took a deep breath, smiling widely as you were surrounded by all the instruments. You were in the string room, and you bowed to the professor before heading over to decide which instrument to play.
There were a few kids there in a small circle with guitars on laps, so you picked up an acoustic guitar and joined them.
You quietly tuned your instrument as two of the other boys were playing off each other. The music was very bluesy and you nodded along as they continued.
All music stopped and you heard a few gasps. Suho must have entered. You turned to verify his presence and tried not to laugh at his awkward smile. He hated the attention. Anybody who considered themselves piano players knew who Suho was, and anybody in this area who was aware of music knew who he was as well. He was kind of a big deal.
“Please, continue,” Suho said, motioning for the two boys to play. They stared at him instead, either too nervous or starstruck. With a sigh, you held your guitar on your lap and began to play a song you had made up a few years ago. The people around the room blinked over at you, distracted from Suho, which you knew he was grateful. You felt him sit down beside you, but you ignored him and continued playing. Your fingers gliding confidently over the strings.
“You think she’s good at this,” You heard Suho say. “You should see her play the viola.”
You missed a note and lost your train of thought as laughter bubbled up your throat.
“Please stop, Suho,” you chuckled, finishing the song quickly. Once you were done, everyone in the room applauded and you bowed your thanks and Suho and you sat silently and listened to the others play for a while.
“Should we go now?” he whispered in your ear after about twenty minutes and you nodded. You both got up and bowed to everyone before heading out.
“That was nice,” you grinned up at your best friend, his hands in his pockets and his smile somewhat strained.
“Uh… yeah, nice…”
You laughed, “You hated every waking minute of it.”
“No!” He quickly defended. “I just… you know I hate it when people treat me like that.”
“Like a celebrity?”
He sighed, “I hate that word.”
“But, I mean, you kind of are a celebrity, Suho.”
He groaned and covered his face with his hands, “don’t say that!”
You laughed again and dragged him out of the hall. On your way out, you passed the dance room, and you glanced into the empty room. You were somewhat disappointed to see how lifeless it was in there compared to earlier today….
~*~
Your first week went by smoothly. You hung out quite a bit with Luna and her friends and only got lost once. Suho and your schedules did not align very well, and you rarely got to see each other, which frustrated both of you, but you made time—as little as it was—to hang out at least once a day.
It was Monday again, and after a semi stressful weekend, you were looking forward to another week of college.
Your alarm went off and you chuckled as Luna groaned and tossed in her bed, “turn that off!”
She threw a pillow in your direction and you turned the alarm off,  and with a whispered ‘goodbye’ you left for your first class.
After your math class ended, and you had once again fought against the ten o’clock rush, you decided to head over to the art building early to goof off for a bit and kill time.
You found yourself pausing in front of that damned dance room again. The door was closed, but you could hear the faint thud of bass coming from the speakers within, and you just knew that man from last week was in there. After a bit of hesitation, you finally pried the door open.
He was there alright. Wearing cut offs and a black wife beater. He was stretching on the center of the floor, leaning against one leg as the music played on. When he lifted his upper body he noticed you, “you’re back.”
You couldn’t tell if he was happy or annoyed by the fact, but you smiled at him anyway, “I told you I’d see you later.”
He laughed once under his breath and shook his head faintly.
“Mind if I watch?”
He opened his mouth, but didn’t say anything.
You deflated, “or…not.”
As you began taking a step back he let out a breath, “no! Wait.”
You glanced at him expectantly and he sighed, “You can stay if you want.”
You beamed and came all the way into the room, closing the door solidly behind you. You sat against the mirror and pulled your legs up to your chin.
“It’s nothing much,” the beautiful boy began. “I’m just going to be doing some stretches and going over some routines….”
“That’s fine,” You encouraged and he paused before nodding his head self-consciously.
After fifteen minutes of warming up, he began to dance. You knew he was not going full out, but even still he was captivating. He moved effortlessly, almost as if he were bored, and he made every move seem easy, although you knew it was anything but.
At one moment he attempted a leap, but couldn’t land right. He groaned with frustration, “I can’t get this jump right.”
You perked up, with him talking for the first time in thirty minutes. He was standing in the middle of the room with his hands on his hips, eyeing himself in the mirror.
“I don’t even know why it is so difficult for me, but I just can’t get it. The teacher told me I was landing too hard but what does that even mean?”
You blinked at him and were silent for a moment. Finally you worked up the courage to speak, “may—maybe you can demonstrate it again? I’ll watch and see if I can spot the problem?”
His eyes flickered to yours questioningly, “you dance?”
“Uh… no, but I’m sure I’d notice if you weren’t landing right.”
He thought about it for a second, but must have seen there was no harm in it because he shrugged and started the music up again.
You watched him as he twirled around the room before going for the leap. He was flawless in the air, but once his foot came down, he was a stumbling mess. He had to hold his arms out to catch his balance and you figured out the problem.
“You’re not distributing your weight properly,” You informed him once he was at a standstill. “You put all your weight on the leg you’re landing on when you need to put it on both.”
“How do I go about doing that?” He asked, twirling the lid off of his water and chugging half the bottle.
“As soon as your foot touches the ground, stretch out your back leg and lift your arms higher.”
The dancer’s eyes wandered above him for a minute, probably imagining the actions he had to take, and then he put his water down and started the music again.
When it got to the troubling leap, you held your breath. He was up, up, up and then he came down. His foot touched the floor and he seemed to spring higher as he flexed his legs and raised his arms, not even wobbling.
“Perfect landing,” you breathed with a grin as he continued on with the choreography. You couldn’t help but to notice how dazzling his face looked graced with that triumphant smile that seemed nearly blinding.
He was now going all out, as if he were performing on a stage, and your heart was in your throat.
You had seen a lot of beautiful things. Watching your father play the trombone, watching Suho play the piano, listening to one of your friends, Yuri, sing, but this fellow in front of you took passion to another level.
Tears began to obstruct your vision as you watched him reach towards the heavens with every jump. Every flex of a muscle seemed to be a part of a story only he knew how to tell, but the story was magnificent and you could not look away.
It ended with him pirouetting before landing on one knee, an arm stretched towards you.
The music ended and the only thing that could be heard was his hard breathing.
“That… that was beautiful.” Beautiful could not cover base to how life altering watching him perform was. He was beyond that, he was something no word could yet define.
“Thank you,” he grinned and bowed humbly.
“No, I’m… I’m serious. I don’t think I have ever seen anything that passionate before in my entire life, and my father lives and breathes music. You are truly talented.”
You watched him bite his lip and scratch the back of his head before repeating, “thank you.”
“No, thank you,” That sounded so cheesy out loud, but you really wanted to thank him for showing you that. You wiped away the tears that had fallen from your eyes and laughed at yourself, “I swear I don’t usually cry watching people dance. Only if I’m moved enough.”
“I moved you?” He asked. You noticed the teasing tone in his voice, but also surprise, as if he didn’t believe he was that good.
“To tears,” You confirmed, holding your hands out to show him the salty wetness on them.
“Thank you,” he repeated yet again, and you blinked up at him.
“For what?”
“For helping me with that turn. Also for letting me know just how good I am. Sometimes you need other people besides those who are always telling you to realize your potential, you know?”
“Absolutely. I definitely understand. I remember when I was first learning how to play the viola, and my father was constantly telling me how good I was, but I felt like I wasn’t adequate. It took my best friend to finally make me realize that maybe I was worthy of the instrument.”
The sweaty ballerina just stared at you for a moment, and you grew embarrassed. Were you talking too much? You were definitely talking too much. This is why you only had two friends growing up.
“You can come watch me practice whenever you want,” he suddenly allowed. His smile grew at your shocked expression. “I realize now I enjoy the company, and you can probably help me on some things. So… whenever you want, if I’m here, don’t be shy.”
He said all of that without even glancing at you, but you could tell the sincerity in his voice. Plus, you found it endearing how he dug the ground with his toes.
It was your turn to repeat yourself, “thank you.”
~*~
You ran all the way to your dorm after art, eager to get this off your chest.
You felt kind of bad that Suho wasn’t the person you wanted to talk to about the matter, but this was strictly a girl thing, and you knew he wouldn’t understand.
“Luna!” You practically screeched when you finally slammed the door to your bedroom open, scaring the living daylights out of your roommate.
“Jesus!” she cried, throwing the magazine she was peacefully reading on her bed onto the floor. “What’s gotten into you?!”
“I’m in like,” You breathed, falling unto your bed with a longing sigh.
“In like?” she questioned.
“Yes. With a beautiful ballerina.”
“Ballerina?”
“It’s a guy,” you clarified, rising up to meet Luna’s gaze. She was grinning from ear to ear, leaning in closer.
“Well, spill it!”
You told her about the mystery dancer who just so happened to be drop dead gorgeous and wanted your company.
“Wow, that is so romantic! What is his name? Maybe I know him.”
“It’s…” Your smile melted off with the realization that you in fact had no name for the face you most definitely would be dreaming of later tonight.
“You don’t know?” Luna’s eyes widened and than she gasped, “that’s even more romantic! It’s like Cinderella! Does he know yours?”
You shook your head and she threw a pillow up in the air. It hit the ceiling before landing on the floor behind her, next to her long forgotten magazine. “Oh my god! The two of you are so mysterious! That is so hot.”
You couldn’t help but giggle. You’ve grown quite close to Luna this past week; she was someone you really needed in your life.
“You have to keep me posted on the development on your unfolding love story. And don’t forget who was there in the beginning when you have to pick a maid of honor for your wedding!”
“Oh, I will def keep you up to date.”
~*~
Sadly, there was nothing to report back to Luna.
Classes started to add pressure the rest of the week, and you were so swamped in schoolwork, that you had no time to eat a normal meal, let alone watch someone dance for a couple hours. you even had a test in art!
When Friday came around, all you wanted to do was relax, but Suho had other plans for you.
“Come on! We haven’t seen each other all week! I miss my bestie!”
“I miss you too, but I’m so tired,”  you complained, rolling around in your bed for affect.
“We are all tired, we’re college students.”
“Why can’t you hang out with your roommate? I’m sure he will keep you company.”
“He is hanging out with me. I’m trying to expose you to more people,” You could hear the annoyance in his voice.
“I don’t need more friends. You’re like five friends put together!”
“Please,” Suho whimpered, muttering your name softly. You tensed, knowing what he was doing. “We haven’t seen one another in five days and I just really need my best friend right now. Is that a crime? Is wanting to see you such a bad thing?”
He sighed when you remained silent, “fine. I won’t bother you anymore. Take your nap and be a loser for all your life, but don’t call me when you finally want to settle down, because I would have moved on with a new bestie by then.”
“Fine!” You cried, hopping off your bed. “Jesus, Suho! I’ll hang out with you, damn!”
He chuckled and you heard a muffled ‘works every time’ before he was back in your ear, “you have ten minutes. Dress really cute, we’re going somewhere fun. You better be waiting for us when we get there.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” You hung up before he could guilt you into doing something else you didn’t want to do and slumped over to your closet.
Suho’s definition of really cute was a scary concept, and it made you wonder where he was dragging you. He loved heels and thigh highs. You always joked and told him he was a subtle pervert, and he would reply by simply shrugging, tilting his head to get a good view of the girl he had his eye on at the time.
You groaned and yanked the clothes you knew he was already picturing in his head before getting ready.
Six minutes later, you were standing outside the dorms in a thin pink dress, black tights, chunky black heels, and a glare.
True to his word, Suho was in front of the dorms ten minutes after your call ended. He stepped out of the passenger side of a very expensive looking black car, dressed in dark jeans and a sky blue button down, and you knew that you were dressed accordingly.
His grin grew into a full-blown smile as he took you in, “you never disappoint.”
“Shut up, you perv,” You retaliated. He just laughed, continuing walking up to you. Once you were right in front of each other, he pulled you into a hug and you soon felt a tugging at your hair.
Suho pulled away with a satisfied grin, “you look prettier with your hair down.”
“What is this?” You snapped, as he ruffled your brown hair that he had released from the ponytail you had it in seconds ago. “Are you trying to hook me up with someone?”
“I might be, but I just want you to have fun tonight. You have to dress good to feel good.”
“I mean, I guess?” You let him drag you over to the car. He opened the backseat door for you and helped you get in before crawling back to the front. There were two males sitting to your left, both incredibly handsome and one behind the wheel.
Suho called you and you glanced at him, really nervous. You usually felt at ease around the opposite sex, but Suho made you dress up, and it made you self-conscious, especially since all the men in the car were good looking.
Not as fine as your little ballerina, you thought suddenly, and you felt your cheeks heat up. They definitely weren’t that pleasing to the eyes.
You blinked, quickly focusing back at Suho. He had his hand on the driver’s shoulder, “This is my roommate, Kris, and those two sitting next to you are Kim Jongdae and Do Kyungsoo.”
“Nice to meet you,” you said, nodding towards them. They all nodded in return and you zoomed off to some unknown place.
“Jongdae and Kyungsoo are singers,” Suho informed as you continued driving. “And Kris here is an actor. They all have scholarships and are top of their classes.”
“Why must you talk us up like this?” The one furthest to the window whined. He had a cute voice and a cat like curve to his lips that you couldn’t help but stare at.
“It’s alright,” you began. “It’s in his nature. He’s like a proud father.”
“This girl right here,” he started, and you rolled your eyes. “Is one of the best viola players in the country, if not the continent! She also draws, plays other instruments, and sings.”
You shook your head rapidly, “please do not tell professional singers that I sing, Suho. That’s embarrassing.”
He simply shrugged, “how many times have you sung the lyrics to my compositions?”
“I’m not sure anymore, Suho,” you sighed, your gaze flickering to the singers beside you. They looked intrigued, and you wanted to shrink.
“Exactly, because it’s been too many times to count. If it had been up to me, I would have given you the songs to record. I write them for you anyway.”
“Gross,” you cried, kicking his seat. Sometimes he said things that made it seem as if you were closer than you actually were. It was a habit you were trying to get him out of.
It was around ten when Kris—who had been silent throughout the entire ride there—pulled into a karaoke bar.
“Damn,” you muttered under your breath. Suho was toying with you the entire ride there, the bastard.
“What was that?” The smaller boy beside you, Kyungsoo, asked. His voice was deeper than you had thought it would be at first glance and his wide eyes and plump lips made him seem older than you would have originally thought, more mature.
“I should have known we would be singing,” you said a bit louder to him, although you pushed your knee deep into the back of Suho’s seat.
“And drinking,” the guy near the window, Jongdae, winked at you playfully and you sighed with both content and relief, because he was really cute and you really needed a drink.
“Good,” you breathed as you all headed out.
You followed the guys into the bar, and was led into probably the biggest room you had ever seen in one of these places. It was already filled with about six other people, both male and female.
You felt pressure on your arm and lips at your ear. “Don’t be afraid to make friends, and maybe even get a bit touchy if you want,” Suho winked at you and you grimaced. What was up with him today?
There were only two other girls in the room, and you quickly ran to sit beside them, introducing yourself quickly. They were Hyeri and Hyorin. There was a guy singing a Super Junior song, and he was really good. You just sat silently as everyone got comfortable. Jongdae soon appeared with around four huge bottles of liquor, while Kyungsoo scuttled behind him with shot glasses.
“Whose ready to turn up!” Jongdae’s high-pitched voice rang loudly over the commotion of the room, and everyone—including yourself—cheered. Jongdae and another boy who you weren’t acquainted with poured the shots, while Kyungsoo handed them out. You were the last one to receive a glass, and he sat beside you with a shy smile. You returned it and waited for one of the shorter boys in the room to give the toast speech, “to freshman! To the beginning of the rest of our lives!”
You all held your glasses up high before tilting your heads back and downing the liquid fire with grimaces and coughs.
Liquor made you friendly, to put it simply. It also made you extremely confident, yet also very uncoordinated. You took six more shots of the strongest stuff Jongdae had to offer, and before you knew it, you were singing a duet with one of the boys named Byun Baekhyun. It was an intense balled, and you acted the part, even pressing against each other, his arm around your waist while one of your hands were on his cheek as you both shared his microphone.
You gathered hoots and hollers and you just laughed and laughed when the song ended. He gave you a wink and carried you off the small platform, making you sit on his lap back on the couch.
“You’re fun,” He yelled into your ear, his voice deep enough for you to feel warm from the compliment.
“You give good speeches,” you replied, remembering him giving the toast earlier.
“You sing very well,” he countered.
“Well… you’re very handsome.”
His smile was a million watts.

(Another lil snippet that I haven’t even gotten to plot wise but I had a Vision™ and wrote it down before I forgot, to give you better insight on what I'm trying to do here haha)
“Jongin….”
“Oh no, silly girl, I’m not Jongin,” his eyes remained piercing into your soul as he pushed a chunk of your hair back behind your ear just to whisper, “I’m Kai.”
You blinked up at him, “who?”
“Kai,” he clarified. “Jongin’s twin brother.”
It was silent for a moment and then you burst out laughing, pushing his shoulder. He looked at you stunned, “stop playing, Jongin. What kind of joke is this?”
He raised an eyebrow, “It’s not a joke, plus, Jongin’s sense of humor wouldn’t allow him to play such a prank. Maybe when we were younger and used to switch classes for the day, but ever since college, all that boy’s focused on is the art.”
“The art?”
“Dancing.”
“Oh… oh!” Your eyes widened as you remembered asking Jongin about his hiphop routine. Your eyes flashed up to the Jongin in front of you, “you were the one doing the hiphop routine!”
He smirked and nodded boldly, “That I was.”
“Shit, you’re telling the truth.”
“Duh. I’m not a liar. But, it seems like Jongin might be…..”

Your ex taps you on the shoulder and says, “I still love you.” You say?  I feel like I’ve answered a similar situation recently, but I would assume it was a drunk text or wrong text, inform them about it, and move on.
Do you play video games?  Nah. I do feel a sort of connection of video games since I grew up surrounded by them, though; but I’m more of a watcher than anything. I like watching playthroughs of video games I’ll never play. Do you spend a lot of time with family?  No. We used to, back when the quarantine was still a relatively new thing – we hung out in the living room all the time. But now that we’ve settled in this new normal, we’re back to our normal routines and I usually like staying in my room.
Is your house more than two stories tall?  Technically, yes. We have a rooftop that serves as the ‘third’ floor.
Have you ever hit your significant other? Has he/she ever hit you?  My ex and I never hit one another; that’s a gigantic red flag even I would notice, considering I ignored most of the ones I saw hahaha.
What makes you an attractive person? (Talk about your personality too!)  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to answer this question directly, but I like my generosity. I’m not sure if I can call it attractive, though. But if we were focusing on physical features, I like my smile.
What color is your hairbrush/comb?  Pink.
What snacks do you have available in your household atm?  My dad splurged on chips in his last grocery run so we actually have quite a lot of junk food in the pantry at the moment. He also bought several packs of cookie sandwiches, wafers, sunflower seeds, and garlic-flavored peanuts.
Has anyone recently told you that they like you, or find you attractive?  Neither.
Are you attracted to the last person you Facebook messaged?  No, she’s just a good friend of mine.
Do you care about anyone that doesn’t care about you?  I guess I don’t, because I’m not even aware of them.
Was your last Facebook friend requests from a male or female?  Guy. It was another reporter, so I just ignored it and luckily he didn’t PM me just to ask to add him back, which others have already done. I really hate when work people try to make their way into my personal accounts.
Which one of your relatives is most likely to embarrass you?  My parents, especially when they are rude to service crew. Gen X-ers are impeccably talented at that, apparently.
When was the last time you ate a bar of chocolate?  Around two or three weeks ago when I had dinner at Angela’s. Her dad gave me a bar of Crunch so I can have something sweet after our meal.
Do you play any games on Facebook?  No, I never did hop on that trend.
What would you like to get a degree in?  I wanted a degree in journalism, and graduated with such. At the end of my college stint I didn’t want to pursue it anymore, but I pushed through with it anyway because it was too much of a hassle to shift and start all over.
Do you wake up a lot in the middle of the night? Technically not, because I stay up until the middle of the night anyway. It’s been a while since I fell asleep anywhere between 8 to 10 PM.
Would you prefer to read a book, watch a movie or TV show, or play a video game?  Watch a show.
Do you usually get popcorn or soda at the movie theater?  I don’t like either; I get fries instead.
What genre of films do you like the best?  Drama.
How many bank accounts do you have?  Two but I haven’t been using the other one in months. That was the bank account I initially opened when I first started ~adulting~ but when I got employed I was required to enroll in this other specific bank, so that’s what I mainly use now.
Have you ever had the flu?  Not really. I just get the occasional fever that pop out of nowhere.
What is your goal for the next few months?  Start saving FOR REAL, and also prioritizing furniture over merch for a while so I can finally fix up my room, which is quickly starting to look and feel like just a warehouse and not very homey at all.
Have you ever had some kind of sleep-disorder? How did it affect your life?  Nope.
Have you ever had food poisoning before? Describe the experience.  Yeah, it was from barbecue that apparently went bad, even though it tasted nothing of the sort. I woke up at 3 AM sweating profusely and with the most excruciating stomachache; I was feeling hot, cold, and nauseous all at the same time, and it probably lasted for like an hour or so.
What are two things that you have no problem paying full price for?  Sealed albums and my pets’ vet expenses.
Funny, charming, cute, romantic, smart - choose only 2 for the opposite sex.  Charming and smart.
Have you ever let somebody use you? Why did you do it?  It felt nice to help people.
You can go back in time & change something in your mom’s past - what is it? Good question; I’ve never encountered this before. I would let her live a more comfortable, privileged life, where she didn’t have to staple her shoes to keep them closed or have to choose between eating at a fast food restaurant or being able to commute back home.
Do you know anybody who is around the exact same size as you? Who? I’m not sure, actually. Everyone’s always slightly taller than me.
Ever been to a haunted house? How scared were you?  I haven’t.
Been on any websites today you wouldn’t want your parents to see?  Tumblr, I guess? My survey blog isn’t for any irls to see.
Which is worse: dusting or mopping?  I don’t really do either often, but I’ll go with mopping.
Would you marry somebody who was intensely religious?  Not for me.
Did you pull a senior prank?  No, that’s not a thing here. Did you graduate?  Yeah, elementary, high school, and college.
Have you ever been unfaithful in a serious relationship?  Nope.
What was the last song you listened to?  It’s a song called Epiphany.
Are you one of those lucky people with 20/20 vision?  Not ever since I was like 9 lol.
Is fashion one of your interests?  I’m way more interested in it now for sure, mostly because the celebrities I’m into these days put a lot of effort when it comes to their style; so it makes me more aware of the trends that come and go, as well.
Do you think you’ll eventually find that special someone?  I’m keeping it as a possibility, but it’s not a priority for me now.
Do you care what people think?  To an extent, I would say. My life doesn’t depend on it, though.
Is acting something you enjoy?  Never been.
What was the last thing you broke/sprained?  Do you mean a thing or a body part? Anyway, I’ll answer both. The last thing I broke was my BTS Mic Drop pen of V looooooooooool the figurine came off the pen :(( It was pretty cheap though so I’m fine with it; I can always get another one. Last body part I sprained was my ankle, when I had a bad fall a couple of years ago.
Have you ever fought with a friend because of their boyfriend/girlfriend? Because of yours?  Either hasn’t happened.
Has a stranger ever yelled at you for your language?  I don’t think so.
Whose house, other than yours and your families', are you most comfortable at?  Angela’s. Also JM’s, just because their family doesn’t hover and that vibe can sometimes be nice whenever I’m at someone else’s place.
Has any of your friends’ family ever yelled at you?  Never.
Did you ever play a sport as a little kid? Did you enjoy it? Not as a very young kid, but I took up table tennis starting when I was 12. Did you ever watch the show Full House?  Nope.
Is there a celebrity you are just DETERMINED to marry?  Now that’s just delusional haha. I’m pretty obsessed with some celebrities, that much I can admit; but thinking of them in the context of marriage is so many steps overboard.
Have you ever burned someone’s picture?  No. I could, but I am scared of fire and will probably just think of other ways to express my anger, like tearing up the photograph. What’s the longest hike you’ve ever been on?  Total length was probably like 3 hours. I haven’t gone too far when it comes to hiking.
Would you ever get a lip tattoo?  Not interested.
Who is the first person of the opposite sex that pops into your head? Hans.
Do your parents smoke cigarettes?  My mom tried it once in her life, I think. My dad has never smoked.
What does one of your T-shirts have written on it?  “Hope right here!”
Name a pet you definitely wouldn’t want.  Anything that’s supposed to roam freely in the wild, like squirrels.
Would you prefer your partner smaller or taller?  Taller, since I’m already quite pint-sized to begin with lol.
Do you enjoy going through old pictures? Sometimes. Other times, it's too painful. It also depends on the era of the pictures. < Agree, especially with the eras. Childhood photos are always fun to look at, but I have had to delete a CHUNK of photos from years ranging from 2014 to 2020 because I’ve lost a handful of friends from that period.
Do you believe people when they say they don’t judge people?  It’s hard to for the most part, but I’ve noticed very few people people really don’t. Most of the time it’s bullshit though.
What did you love the most about the town you grew up in?  That it’s pretty close to the metro.
What’s a movie that you laughed the hardest during?  Hmm, I prefer TV shows if I’m craving comedy.
What’s a movie you cried the hardest during?  Life Is Beautiful.
What’s your favorite restaurant?  Omakase for my sushi fix; School Tteokbokki if I want Korean; Yabu if I’m looking for a generous rice meal.
Is there a dessert you don’t like?  Anything with fruits.
Favorite album?  After Laughter by Paramore.
What’s a book that you read because everyone else was reading it?  I can name authors instead of books – John Green and Haruki Murakami.
Underwater or outer space?  Outer space.
Dogs or cats?  Dogs.
Kittens or puppies?  Puppies.
Bird watching or whale watching?  Whale watching. I don’t get to be in the water as much, so I would jump at the opportunity.
What is your spirit animal?  I dunno if I have one but let’s just go with dog and elephant, I guess? They’re my favorites.
What was your best subject in school?  History.
What was your worst subject in school?  Chemistry.
What is one thing you wish you knew in high school?  Don’t waste your time.
Who is your fashion icon?  Audrey Hepburn.
Diamonds or pearls?  Diamonds.
What color dress did you wear to prom?  For my own prom it was cream-colored/beige. When I went to Mike’s ball, I went with a royal blue gown.
What’s your favorite plot-twist?  I don’t think I’ve found my favorite yet.
Honestly, are you jealous of someone right now?  Not actively.
Honestly, what’s the worst thing you’ve done when you were mad?  I dunno...road rage, maybe?
Honestly, ever made anyone cry when you were mad?  It’s very likely.
Honestly, when was the last time you REALLY cried your heart out?  Sometime in the last week.
Ever pop someone else’s pimple? No thanks.
Do you need to return anyone’s phone call?  Nope.
Who are you closest to?  Angela.
Have you ever had a bad concert experience?  No, all the ones I’ve been to have been amazing experiences.
Are you currently sad about anything?  Not really. I can’t complain.
Have you had any form of exercise today?  Nah.
Can you handle blood?  Nope, I will feel faint if I see it 100%.

a latte for your thoughts?
// a fan fiction dedicated to the winter garden couple of hospital playlist //
-----
"Ikjun, do you have my warm cup of hot latte?" Jeong won said, while walking towards him in the hospital's open space to take a break during his night shift.
"Here. Isn't it tiring in the PICU these days?" Ikjun replied with worried eyes.
"A little. I don't mind it though.
Yah, do you remember my liver transplant patient, Mina?"
"Yeah, the one where we had to cut the donor's liver to a quarter because it won't fit the tiny baby's body. What about her?"
"I went to her a while ago. She woke up, and winked at me like this!" Jeongwon lit up whenever he talks about his patients' recovery. His eyes sparkled and his smile widened. He repeated the wink so much that it could have been mistaken for a blink. In fact, he was so giddy that he didn't notice someone approaching.
"Professor Ikjun? The test results of patient Jiwon are out. Could you take a look at it?"
Jang Gyeoul, the third year resident of General Surgery has been standing there for a few moments, waiting for the two professors to actually notice.
While hiding his laugh, Ikjun followed suit. Jeongwon was left on the bench with an unwavering smile on his face.
Looking at him, one would think that his drink was too sweet to make him smile like that. Eavesdropping on their conversation would transform him into a humanitarian. But to delve into his thoughts --- now that, that's a different story.
It's nice to actually see an angel, once in a while. Just enough to keep me on my feet. I might be even enthralled by its eyes that don't wink but are enveloped with fascinating halo-like things. Even if this angel doesn't have wings, it has the most power to chase evil away. I wasn't sure if this angel could save me --- until it actually did.
------
"Yah, Ahn Jeongwon, are you sleeping here again?" Junwan said, while entering their shared office.
"O~ I just finished my night shift. I just lied down."
"Have you eaten?"
"I'll eat later."
"I also haven't eaten yet. Let's eat breakfast."
"Will you stop bugging me if I eat?" Junwan then pulled Jeongwon out of the cot, and dragged him to the packed cafeteria to fall in line.
------
"One iced latte, please. Oh, and a sandwich."
With the same baggy eyes and pale skin, Gyeoul was ordering her morning coffee. Just enough to keep her awake until she gets home.
"Annyeonghaseyo~" She greeted the two professors.
"De~" Jeongwon said, while Junwan nodded in response.
CODE BLUE --- CS. 3RD FLOOR. CODE BLUE --- CS. 3RD FLOOR.
Without a beat, Junwan, a Cardiothoracic Surgery Professor, left hurriedly. Jeongwon was then left alone. Gyeoul took her order and searched for a seat.
"One warm cup of hot latte and a pancake, please."
After getting his order, Jeongwon followed through and tried to find his way in the crowd. It was full of doctors and nurses waiting to start their morning shifts, so the noise was understandable.
"Professor! Here!" Gyeoul pointed to a newly vacant seat in front of her. The morning rush got the best of them that Jeongwon didn't think twice and made his way.
The crowd was boisterous. Jeongwon and Gyeoul's silence was awkward. It was not the kind of environment you'd want after a 12-hour shift.
But it was all worth it. At least for one of them.
"How was the Emergency Room last night?" Jeongwon blurted after taking a bite of his pancake.
"It's okay. There were a lot of unpredictable cases, most of which were tiring, as usual." Gyeoul's detailed answer was so calm. It seemed that the Professor's unexpected friendliness didn't bother her.
"Do you have someone to take you home?"
"What? No. I can go by myself." With a polite tone, Gyeoul showed her surprise with the question.
"I'll give you a ride home."
"No, you don't need to---"
"I insist. I still haven't bought you the meal you asked from me, anyway. Can a ride home suffice?"
Gyeoul was bewildered. But with the professor's kind nature, it seemed like something he would do for literally anyone. He wasn't called the "Buddha" for nothing, anyway.
-----
"It's that apartment on the right, Professor."
"This one?"
"Yes. Thank you for the ride."
"It's not a problem. The next time we catch ourselves on a rough patch, I can take you home again."
Gyeoul smiled. Her first that day. Then, she opened the door to get out.
"Oh, shit! I forgot!" The car stopped. Jeongwon's shock even surprised Gyeoul.
"Why, Professor? What happened?"
"I totally forgot about it. I was scheduled to get my car battery change the other week, then I forgot and was planning to do it today."
Sleeping in the cot that morning wasn't just to save time to rest up. He actually had long, overdue chores and was saving some energy to do them.
"Do you have a contact to a car battery seller?" Gyeoul asked.
"Yeah, I'll contact them now."
It was still early in the morning, around 6 o'clock. The service opened at 9 o'clock, so delivery wasn't possible after an hour or so.
Gyeoul stayed with him until things got settled. It was getting chilly, and the overwhelming fatigue got the best out of Jeongwon.
"Professor, you could rest a little in my place... if you like. You can sleep while waiting."
Jeongwon hesitated a bit, but decided to give in.
------
"I'll just get an extra pillow and some blankets." said Gyeoul, while Jeongwon helped in fixing the convertible sofa bed in her living room.
Once fixed, he sat and removed his shoes.
"You live alone?" he asked Gyeoul once she got back.
"Yes, for a while now." she replied as she handed him the pillow.
"Ah, I see."
"I'll just be in my room. You can call me if you need anything."
"Thank you... Also, I'm sorry for being so troublesome." His shy look gave him away.
"It's nothing, don't worry." Gyeoul smiled, and went into her room.
Jeongwon lied down. He couldn't believe what was happening --- and how the situation could naturally give a wrong impression. If he told Ikjun about this, he would make fun of him and joke about how he got things to escalate so quickly. Junwan would tap him on the back and commend him for finally picking up some tricks of his. Songhwa would be very much amused, and would romanticize the whole situation. Meanwhile, Seokhyeong would remind him that he's an OB-GYN Professor, and that he delivers babies very well. He would be of service to Jeongwon if ever he needed one.
His thoughts started to tone down, and after no time, he was asleep.
-------
"Professor?"
......
"Professor? I fixed some lunch. Do you want to eat?" Gyeoul wore an apron over some loose shirt and pajamas now, and sun was already high up.
Jeongwon looked at his wrist watch.
2:24 PM.
He quickly sat up.
"I'm sorry, did the service arrive? I must have been in a deep sleep."
"Yes, they arrived a few hours ago. I tried to wake you, but you were soundly asleep."
"I'm really sorry. You had to pay them, didn't you? I'll just pay you back."
"The receipts are there, over the table."
Jeongwon went to get them, and was distracted with the smell of food coming from the kitchen.
"Professor, I fixed some lunch for us, if you want to eat..."
He felt ashamed to take another offer, but hearing his stomach grumble made him look the other way, again.
Gyeoul was already fixing the table for two, while Jeongwon sat quietly and contemplated how much trouble he caused her all in a single day.
"I'm really sorry... I meant to wake up, seriously. I was just really tired from last night."
"It's okay." Gyeoul said with a chuckle. "I'm not holding anything against you, Professor." she added as she handed out his chopsticks.
"Thank you for the meal." he then said.
Everything was new to Ahn Jeongwon. He didn't need to wipe the table, or arrange the food, or even wear an apron. He didn't even need to worry if he was going to get enough food, as everything was already at his disposal. This new scenario keeps him gushing.
Being alone with a girl, in her apartment, eating her cooked food, and feeling something that only grown-ups alone in an enclosed space would feel. It wasn't like this was the first time something like this is happening, he often said to himself. It somehow eased his discomfort.
All while knowing the truth that this is in fact the first time.
But it's not like Jeongwon didn't have the opportunity and ability to; he just chose not to. His faith led him to a different path, and he was decisive to go this way. For the longest time, this weighed more than any choice he had to make in his life. But this time, something, or perhaps someone, was gonna tip the scale.
-----
"Yah! Jang Gyeoul! What's this?" Chu Minha screamed as Gyeoul entered the GS Department, in time for another night shift.
Someone left iced latte for her. With a double bacon sandwich. And some patches to ease pain. It came with a written note, saying:
"To my Good Samaritan. Thank you~
---- Ahn Jeongwon"
The handwriting made Gyeoul smile.
"Why did Pediatric Surgeon Prof. Ahn Jeongwon gave you coffee? And why are you smiling?"
"Nothing. It's just to repay a good deed."
"That's the most vague yet unsuspicious answer I've ever heard! Good deeds really cannot be questioned at all. I wish someone would also give me coffee." Minha wouldn't stop, but Gyeoul wasn't listening either.
She focused on the note. And the coffee. And the sandwich.
While remembering the long day with Ahn Jeongwon.

Baggage Claim 10-Final
Tumblr media
Description: Seunghoon back from a business trip only has a mind for growing his company. You are in the middle of running from the by the book life that was drowning you. When a minor inconvenience sets you in his path will you be the reason he eases up? And could he be what you need to get serious again?
I did it! I finished! Huge gigantic thank yous to @negrowhat and @bbnightengale for being sounding boards. For being patient. For not letting me give up! This was a huge labor of love and maybe the ending isn’t 1000000% what I wanted but there’s room for improvement in everything we set out to do. Anywho in the futrue please look out for a various spin offs and such because Cherry needs a happy ending and I wanna explore the other memebers in the universe lol. Ok OK I’m done now I promise. Please enjoy.
No Warnings!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9  Part 10
You blinked at him every braincell you had seemed to be absorbing what he was asking you. Can you stay? Can you turn your back on your own life and stay? The bite of sandwich in your mouth felt like a lead weight.
There were so many steps. So many steps to climb up to get into the apartment. You were praying that Cherry wasn’t home. You didn’t have it in you to explain, to argue or defend yourself. You had already done that with Hoon. You got the door open and nearly collapsed onto the couch. There was so much that you had to do. You didn’t give yourself too much time to wallow.
By the time Cherry did make it home you were in your room determined. You had called your mother and spoken to her for at least an hour. It helped, you cried all of your worries out to her and she had absorbed it all with empathy. “I know honey I know, but if this is the best decision for you then go with it.” She had said. It all felt like easier said than done. Cherry knocked on your door and for it took you a moment to decide whether you wanted to open it or not. “Hey is everything ok?” She sounded unsure which was surprising to you. Cherry was the most sure person you knew. “Yeah,” you finally said. “Can I come in?” She asked. “Sure.” You were quick to wipe at your face. She would freak out if she saw any stray tears and you didn’t have the energy to go over anything all over again. When she came in she was glowing like always. Her smile literally lit up the room and you felt a little better. She came over to you and sat on the floor with an audible plop. “So,” she looked over your room and you could see her noting that you had begun to pack, “are you already starting to pack?” She asked slowly. “Yeah.” You answered. The silence stretched and she continued to twist her fingers. “Yoon talked to Mino…” she took a breath and then looked at you, “did you get into a fight with Hoon?” She asked. There wasn’t enough time for you to bottle up everything that you were feeling. Though you had hours to get it all neatly tucked inside of you before she got home you hadn’t. It showed on your face because she reached for you and enveloped you in a hug. “It’s ok.” She said. She rubbed your back but you weren’t crying. It took you a moment to go from stiff to settling in her arms. “We didn’t really fight.” You whispered. “What happened then?” She asked. You tucked your head into her neck and sighed. “Can I ask you something instead?” You began, “you don’t have to answer but I want to ask anyway.” “Go ahead.” She whispered back. “Do you think it was stupid to date him? Do you think I was dumb and greedy and,” you sniffed, the tears were back, “do you think after everything it would have been better to just not start anything to begin with?” She kept rubbing your back but didn’t answer right away. You could feel she was thinking, gathering her answer together. “I think you two were meant to meet for a reason. I’ll always think that…” She said. You knew she wouldn’t think you had made a mistake but it felt good to hear it out loud. “Cherry?” “Hmmm?” “I know what I’m gonna do, but I’m terrified.” You spoke on a shuddering breath. You hugged her tighter and tried to calm your heart. It was thundering again, banging in your chest so hard you heard it in your ears. “Don’t be scared...and don’t feel pressured.” She held you tighter, “no matter what we say or your mom says, or even what Hoon says, it’s whatever’s best for you.” She pulled away and tried her best to fix your hair. “And another thing just so we’re clear…” She smiled and set a piece of your hair just so, “we’re always gonna be friends....you can always talk to me. You know that right?” She said. You nodded and sniffed. Then you smiled out her and held up your pinky, “your stuck with me now, I’m gonna be bothering you all the time now. Pinky promise you won’t get tired of me.” You were giggling as you said it. She laughed with you and locked pinkies with you. “Promise.” She said.
The two of you made dinner. You looked up recipes and you both decided on a salmon dish. It was easy to make and doing the task together took your mind off of everything.
Seunghoon hadn’t smiled in days. He promised himself that while he was in the office he wouldn’t think of you. There were too many things that needed his attention for the opening of the factory. He was working with Yoon’s party planner and publicist. The opening of the new factory was really turning into a bigger event then he had predicted. Thankfully it took up time. When he was home he thought about what had happened. What you had said, the way he looked at you. All he wanted was for you to stay. It was in theory a simple request but in practice he knew how much he was asking. “Can’t you stay?”   No. He shook his head and focused back on what he was suppose to be doing. Something about the size of the banners for the photobooth. “I think the logos for the sponsors are a good size, not intrusive but you can definitely tell the brands.” Mino looked over his shoulder at the computer screen. “Maybe we can make ours a little bigger though?” His friend elbowed him playfully. “You know so everyone is clear about our name.” “Not a bad idea.” He finally said. He sized up their logo, just enough to read the name better then sat back in his chair. “I think that’s good.” He said. He blinked at the screen and rubbed his eyes. He felt Mino’s hand on his shoulder. “Good job, this is gonna be really good for us.” He said, “the biggest thing we’ve ever done.” He got out more under his breath.” “I couldn’t have done it without you.” Hoon said just as softly. He rubbed his face again and tried not to let his feelings surface. “What did she say?” Mino asked. He let the pause stretch. It was replaying again in his head.
“Can’t you stay?” He had willed you to say yes. To open your mouth and say that you were going to stay forever and ever. He wanted to laugh at himself. Because you hadn’t gone all glowy eyed and run into his arms. Instead you had sighed. Sighed so deeply that he was terrified. “I just don’t want you to go back to that place if it made you feel like that....” He was trying to be honest. He had reached across to you but you pulled your hand back from him. “I was always going back...I can’t just...I can’t just forget about everything I have back there.” Why did you pull your hand away? “If it makes you feel like your drowning then why go back to it! Why subject yourself?!” He hadn’t meant to yell. The last thing he wanted to do was raise his voice but the damage had been done. He remembered vividly the way you shook your head and crossed your arms over your chest. He felt shut out, any ground that he had with the idea of you staying was lost. “You don’t get to comment on my life like you know what’s going on. You don’t know anything about it.” Your words cut. The truth ringing loudly in his ears, he didn’t know about it. He only knew what you had told him and nothing of what he had heard was positive. “I just want you to be happy,” he had rubbed harder at his face, “you make me happy, don’t I,” he lowered his hands and looked at you. Your eyes were brimming with tears. “Don’t I make you happy at all?” “We can’t be happy all the time Seunghoon.”
He blinked and tried to think of an answer for Mino. “She said she had to go...and what can I do?” He asked, “I can’t kidnap her. If she needs to go back then I have to accept that.” He said. Mino sat on the edge of Hoon’s desk and sighed. “You really put it all on the line? Seriously? You told her how you felt?” He pushed. He leaned forward his eyes all serious, “did you tell her you love her?” “I told her she made me happy?” Hoon tried, “I can’t tell her I love her...we’ve only been going out for-” “Do you love her?” Mino asked. He held his eyes then nodded slowly. “Then you have to tell her, you have to tell her you love her, not just that she makes you happy. It’s so important that she hears it all.” He said. “I’m not going to keep trying to stop her,” He argued, “she already told me what she’s going to do. If I keep trying to hold onto her she’ll feel suffocated.” Mino shook his head and sighed. He was king of grand gestures and being intensely romantic, maybe Hoon should have asked for his advice more. Maybe he would have wooed you quicker, maybe you would be just as in love with him as he was with you. “When is she suppose to be going back? Are you going to take her to the airport and see her off?”  He asked Hoon. “If she wants me to?” He answered, “Like I said I’m not going to hold onto her if she doesn’t want me.” He was trying his best not to smother you. If you had to leave then he had to let you go. He ran his hands through his hair over and over again and tried to take a few deep breaths. This was the office he shouldn’t be thinking about you in the office. He was doomed now, he wasn’t going to be able to get any work done. The hopeless feeling that had crept into his chest when he talked to you in his that day was back. He knew it was his own fault, he had trusted himself with not falling in love then failed miserably. “I don’t think she feels the same about me.” He blurted out, “If she felt the same about me, maybe she would have had an easier time staying?” “I think it’s because she loves you that she’s fighting you so hard. She’s unsure because you’ve never said how you feel.” Mino sounded like a broken record. “You’ve got to tell her before she leaves, once she’s gone it’ll feel too late.” He said.
It felt odd to sleep in your room with none of your stuff in it. You smiled at the ceiling and shook your head, this wasn’t technically your room. But after 5 months it felt more like yours then your actual room. The last few days you had completely packed everything away into your suitcase. It weighed a ton but you weren’t too worried about paying th extra fee. Cherry had spent the last few days with you. The two of you were treated to a sneak peek of Yoon’s new factory. Everything was shiny and new. The outside had a few huge posters featuring Cherry in the cutest pink dress. You were so proud of her and you could tell that she was excited about the opening. “I’m gonna call you the day of the party so try your best to be free.” She had said with a giggle. You agreed and went back paying attention to all the facts Yoon gave. Every so often he stopped, looked at Cherry, and then turned a very distinct pink. When you got home that night you teased her about it and for once she was tongue tied. The night after that she took you to her favorite bar. You drank way too much and sang way too loud when it was your turn for karaoke but it felt wonderful. You walked home with her giving repeat performances of what you had sang in the bar. Remembering it made you feel warm and that warmth was a better feeling than the uncertainty. The ceiling offered you no answers but you still stared up at it and tried ease yourself to sleep. This would be your last sleep here, the last time you’ll wake you to the sound of the neighbors kids getting ready for school. Once you were home it was back to business. Back to life and everything it included. Away from Cherry and Yoon. You pulled your phone from under your pillow one more time. It lit up and there he was on your lockscreen. Well it was technically both of you in the picture but you only had eyes for him. It was a picture of him kissing you on the cheek and it made you feel so happy. You traced your finger across his cheek on the screen and sighed. It was meant to be, you were meant to take his suitcase, meant to meet him and you were always meant to leave. You held your phone to you chest and closed your eyes. Tomorrow was breakfast with Cherry, one last movie on the couch and then she was taking you to the airport. The simplicity of your last day was pretty soothing. It helped you, you finally drifted off. You dreamed about Seunghoon holding your hand and smiling at you. It felt like you strolled with him forever just basking in the sunlight.
The steering wheel was complaining under his grip, he left his house late, so late that he knew for a fact that he was going to miss you but he had to try. He pressed down on the gas pedal and weaved through traffic. You had sent him a text message last night but his phone was on do not disturb. “Hey, just wanted to say goodbye. I figured since our fight you might not necessarily wanna come see me off. Which is cool I get it. Anyways, I know this thing sort of ended up hurting us but I wanted you to know that if I had the choice I would take your suitcase again lol. I would do it all again because this was really the time of my life. Please be well and you know if you’re ever on my side of the world please look me up!” It hurt but you would do it again. He would do it again without a doubt and maybe what he was trying to do was cliche but he had something to say to you. Mino was right he had to say the words and he needed to say them in person. The traffic started to pack up near the airport. He really was going to miss you, the cars inched along the ramp that he needed his jaw was locked as he formed a plan. He knew the gate number and he planned on leaving his car in the closest lot and running.   The terminal was full, he stopped at the gigantic board displaying flight statuses, he bent over to catch his breath. Just a little further, he had to catch you before you got to security. He looked at the ticket counters where people stood helping passengers get boarding passes, and helping with luggage. Maybe you were- “Hoon?” He swallowed and turned towards the sound of your voice. You were dressed in a large sweater and comfy looking sweat pants. You had a scarf on that was tucked just under your chin. So adorable. “Hey.” He got out. You took a step then stopped to tuck your passport into your pocket, “you came?” He nodded, “I wanted to say…” he swallowed again. “Goodbye?” You asked. “I love you.” He blurted out. Your face went blank, your eyes seemed to enlarge as you looked at him. “I love you and I want you to stay,” he took a moment to gather his thoughts better, “but I understand why you can’t. This thing between us...how can I give you guarantee enough to leave your whole life behind?” “You can’t.” You said softly. “I can’t.” He echoed, “I know I can’t, but I still had to come and tell you.” He said, “I should have told you weeks ago…” You stepped up to him causing his sentence to trail off. He leaned down instinctively when you lifted your face to kiss him. Your kiss warmed his whole body. He tried his best to hold onto the feeling this was the last time. After this kiss he was sure you were going to roll your bag to the counter and check in for your boarding pass. The sound of the intercom made him pull away. The announcer sounded bored, not at all concerned about their message. Something about doors closing. He looked at the flight board and saw your flight number. The board status flipped to say ‘Departed’. When he turned back you looked a little uncertain. “Guess I missed it…” you shrugged. “I guess you did.” He cradled your face in his hands, “I can help you get another ticket if you want?” He offered. You shook your head and sighed, “ask me again.” You said. He made a thinking face then pecked you on the lips, “can’t you say tell me you love me back first?” He whined. He watched you think his request over. He was overjoyed, he couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face. “I love you.” You said to him, “I know this whole thing is kind of a shot in the dark but honestly, I’ve never been happier.” You confessed. You put your arms around his neck and kissed him again, “ask me again Hoony…” “Will you stay with me?” He asked. When you nodded he wrapped his arms around your waist and spun you. The joy in his chest felt like an explosion that filled his whole body. He understood that there would be complications that nothing could really be guaranteed but even those facts couldn’t keep the smile off of his face. He had you. You loved him and that was all he needed.

First Dean drove to the train station where he reluctantly left his car where it would wait for you to return. Over the drive you had tried to make conversation, but everything fell flat like the other times you had tried to talk.
While you waited for everyone to get off the train you stood against wall watching everyone passed by, families, couples and people on their own.  You looked over to your left and saw Dean helping with the bags, looking away you lent back and closed your eyes. All the noises and chatter around you faded away, all you focused on was you breathing and the feeling of the brick wall on your back.
Your eyes shot open when Dean appeared at your side and put his hand on your arm. "already bored of me?" he laughed. You exhaled shaking your head, letting him take your arm and lead the way to the train carriage.
"just taking a minute to think" you chuckled,  you walked side by side to the 1st class carriages. In Dean's free hand he held your bag containing some things you might need over the trip. You couldn't help but think about how well you worked together, his movements worked with yours.
Once you reached the steps, he held your hand through your gloves you could still feel his coarse hand under yours. You swore you saw him looking at your joint hands when you looked away, something about the way his eyes moved, like they were hiding something.
You sat opposite each other, the space in between felt too small and too big at the same time. As soon as he sat down, he started to bounce his left leg. When the train whistle blew, he stopped and looked out the window that looked it on the train hallway.
you stopped watching him, reaching in your bag to pull out your book. As you read you clewed on your nails, mouthing a word now and then. Someone tapped on the cover of your book, making you look up.
"Tea? Or something to eat?" Dean asked, gesturing to the carriage door where the trolley lady stood waiting.
"oh" you smiled towards her putting your book down next to you. "Yes, tea and a sandwich would be lovely". You reached for your bag to get money but was met with Dean's hand over yours. With one hand still over yours as he  handed some money over to the lady in exchange for two teas and a sandwich.
After saying thank you were left alone again, resting the tea next to your book you ripped open the brown paper the sandwich was wrapped in.  Only then did you realized how hungry you were, skip breakfast was finally getting to you.
When you looked up you saw Dean watching your curiously, you laughed trying to hide the heat spreading on your cheeks. "I didn't have my breakfast thing morning. Just two cups of tea", you took a few bites before finishing, "I am regretting that though".
He drank his own tea watching you over the dim.  When he put the cup down, he chuckled. "what are you reading?", he nodded to the book next to you.
Looking down to the book you smiled, "Wuthering  Heights. It's one of my favourite". The copy was well worn, the cover was faded, the pages had gone from white to a light yellow and some of the quotes had been underlined.  "do you read?", you  looked up to Dean.
He laughed again, shaking his head. "Reading is more Sammy's thing, I don’t have much time with the family business and the cars", he waved his hand in the air as he explained. You could ignore the sliver of disappointment in your veins, in a perfect world he would share the same hobbies as you and you would talk about them for hours on end, in a perfect world you would marriage someone you knew.
After a few more minutes of talking, you went back to reading but Dean continued to watch you. He could see you were finding the day as hard as he was. Everything he or you brought up didn't catch and fell flat. He found it easier to sit in quiet and watch you.  He knew you were beautiful; your E/C eyes match your H/C perfectly. And when you smiled, he felt something grow in him. He couldn’t call it love; he didn't know this vison of you. You were still the girl from his childhood who he spoke of to his friends.
His favourite story was for the last day he saw you, he was 12 and you were 13. He always hated how you were older than him, even if it was only by a year. You had climb up an apple tree in his back garden and had spent 5 minutes throwing apples at him before he spotted you. With a book held in one hand and the other holding another apple ready to throw, you smiled when you made eye contacted with him.
He always remembered how your mother reacted when she saw the state of your dress after you fell from the tree, on to a small patch of  flowers. He was worried you were hurt but instead you leaped up and laughed. As you walked by you handed him one of the flowers, a wild rose.
The memory was the reason why he picked wild roses for the wedding, something he hoped you remembered. Unsure why but when he was younger, he would always remember the image of you reading in a tree smiling down at him.
And here you were again reading, he could help but smile a little at how you would mouth the words or reacted when something happened, like you were one of the characters living and breathing the story. The loud train whistle made you both looked from your spots and look to the window where your spot was coming into view.
Tumblr media
Standing out on the balcony that look out on the sea, you sighed breathing in the salty air. The cry of seagulls rang out louder than anything else. You hung your head back and looked up to the sky, the sky was nearly cloudless.
You breathed deep one more time before turning around and going back into the room. The hotel  was classic, the room you were staying in was painted a deep royal blue, the jointed one bathroom was a lighter shade of blue but still felt too deep. Over in one corner of the room there was a folding screen, hanging off a hook beside it was your dress for tonight.
When packing you had only chosen dresses that would be easy to get in and out on your own, this one was one of the nicer ones. It was dark green with a black mesh overlay; beautiful detailed leaf needle work was on the sleeves and the body of the dress.
Dean had said he was going to book a table, but you hadn't failed to see him seek a pack of cigarettes into his coat pocket.  You stood behind the screen and started to strip down to your underwear. You loosen your corset a little, ready for the dinner you were about to have.
Lifting the dress above your head, you bushed  down any bumps or wrinkles. You walked out to sit by the vanity mirror, laying before you was the little pieces of jewellery you had brought. Matching the dress, you chose a long black beaded necklace with matching earrings.
Pulling your hair out of the bun that rested on the top of your head and let in run lose down your neck. You worked with a brush and some pins until you were happy without come. Staring at yourself in the mirror. You studied every detail you look the same as you always did, you always thought there would be a change once you were married. like a new you would take over and know what to do next but you that had always been was the one staring back at you through the mirror. Maybe Dean had thought he was marrying someone different and that's why he was distant with physical affections.
when dean did return to the room, he lingered by the door, you could see him watching from the mirror. you turned and smiled at him, "Can you help with the back button? I can't reach it" you asked walking over to him and turning you back once again. At the back of your neck you felt the ghost of his fingers, you could feel the hesitate in them, feel how he was holding himself back. He cleared his throat saying he was done. When you looked that him, you saw how his green eyes were wider than they had been, and the tips of his ears were redder than they normally were. you reached out to get your coat, but he beat you to it.
you stood still, lips slightly parted as he hung the coat off your shoulders, he was also still as he watch you put an arm in each sleeve. "Ready?" his voice was horse, green eyes less wide than they had been but still not the normal size. You felt your heart flutter as you smiled and nodded. Again, he held out his arm for you and again your heart fluttered. Maybe you did doubt everything about this match when you were alone with your thought but when he did small things like this, when you saw the things he couldn't hide, you couldn't help but hope. His warm body was so close to yours; you could still smell the smoke on his clothes it wasn't overpowering like so many other, it suited the bourbon and metal that clung to him too.

The restaurant was by the sea, tall windows made up a full wall so that the view could be seen from anyway in the building.  The smell from the coast was even stronger, you felt even more relaxed than you did back in the room.
Dean pulled out a chair once you reached the table, the table match the theme of the sea. In the middle was a single candle floating in a small bowl of water with seashells at the bottom. Dean circled the table and sat down facing you. Smiling over to him, you both reached for a menu at the same time, you felt heat rush up to your cheeks and along the back of your neck. You tried to laugh what happened off, hiding behind your menu before you could even face Dean and see his own reaction.
Halfway through the meal, the setting sun gave casted a soft pink light across the restaurant. Dean looked up from his plate and grazed towards you. You had your eyes towards the massive windows, watching the waves come and go from the sea. Your lips were parted and turned up at the corner.  In the soft pink light from the setting sun, he couldn't help but acknowledge the way your soft E/C eyes shone. the skin was glowing in the light, it looked like you belonged there like you were craved from sea glass.
Your chest up and down with a sigh moving your eyes from the sea, you smiled clearly shocked to find Dean looking right at you. “you look lovely tonight” the words left his mouth before he knew it. Your eyes widen and cheeks flush a bright red. Trying to hide your face you blushed some hair from your face that wasn’t there. While you were trying to find the right thing to say, he reached for your free hand that was on the table and took your hand in his. you swallowed a lump in your throat looking at your joint hands. His large rough hand around your small gloved hand, again you could feel the heat of him, and it was enough alone to make your shiver. You couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like if he touched your naked skin. “I hope we can grow closer over this break”.#
You could still feel a lump in your throat and with his hand still on yours, it was hard to speak. You licked your lips and nodded. “I hope we do too”. You sounded and felt breathless. Before you knew it, the meal was over, and Dean was helping you with your coat.
With the weather still being good, you chose to walk back to the hotel. You both hung your arms by your sides, your hands would brush pass each other gathering all your nervous into one move you took his hand in yours. Not having the guts to face him to tell his reaction you keep your gaze  forward, but you were glad when he squeezed your hand.

You were more tired then your thought when you got back. The day had just been traveling and eating but the call from your bed was deafening. Kicking your shoes off by the door you walked over to your vanity table, where you started to take off jewellery and hair pins. You reached to the back of your dress to undo it, you jumped when you felt someone else’s hands on your back. You looked in the mirror and felt a bit calmer when you saw it was just Dean, he was silently asking for permission to help, you nodded not breaking eye contact with him.
You kept your eyes on him as your dress loosen on your frame, you stood up and turned around as the dress fell to the floor. You breathe stilled as you looked at him, you could feel the goose bumps popping up on your skin from being dressing in nothing but a corset and thin grown. “can you manage it on your own?” his voice was sticky; his green eyes were following down your neck to your collar you could tell he was struggling not to look down future where your breast where slowly lifting and falling with each breath.
You nodded your head and pulled the lace holding your corset together. You had yet to take your eyes off him and he hadn’t moved his eyes from your chest yet. When nothing was left to take off you didn’t dare to move. Your lips parted, eyes looking down to his lips. You stayed still as he took his hand from his side and touched your waist. The hard beating in your chest was all you could hear, you thought it might be the only thing he could hear.
This was the closest you had gotten to him, the closest he had gotten to touching you. His thumb drew a line over your hip bone, his eyes were taking you in something you hadn’t witnessed him do before. This was different from how he looked at you, your whole wedding day even the wedding night was different.
You took a sharp in breath when he tugged you closer to his chest. Your hand stuck out and went flat against his chest. You could feel him breathing on your neck, feel his steady heartbeat. Trembling a little you raised up your face to read his. you looked up through your lashes at him, searching his green eyes for the answer the questions running laps in your mind.
He moved slowly, his lips getting closer and closer to your own. Your eyes fluttered shut when you could feel his breath on your lips.  When they finally met you were taken by the feeling that over came you. His grip got tighter; your hands went to pull at the material of his white shirt.  He reached with his free hand and ran it through your free hand. Still kissing and wrapped in each other touch, he started to walk backwards until you were stood by the bed.  You only pulled away when  you felt like you couldn’t breath anymore, his eyes were fixed on your raising and falling chest. You took his hand from your waist and held it as you sat down on the bed and pulled him closer.
You couldn’t say what was giving you the courage to be so forward and open. You fell back on the mattress with a pop, finding his lips again. Opening your legs so he could slide closer to you. The kiss grew hungry. The feeling of him in between your legs made your hands sweaty, and something was growing inside you.
you were shocked by the cold when Dean suddenly pulled away. Still lay across the bed you stared up at Dean who was studying you in his own way. “it’s getting late”. Your frowned at his words but quietly nodded.
He left you to change in the bathroom, you sat there for a few seconds trying to spot the reason of his sudden change of heart. You slowly climbed under the covers, still puzzled you watch the clock of the wall tick away. You felt the same as you did the night before, you thought things were doing well. He kissed you first after all, was it because you tried to take it further. Maybe he just didn’t feel things for you, and it was too hard to fake.
You shook away the questions and tried to sleep. When he finally returns you keep still hoping he’ll believe you’re asleep. Still not looking at him, you felt the bed dip and heard him sigh.
That night felt longer that any others.
The next day you were half awake when you heard movement, you groggily opened your eyes to find what was happening. “you’re up just in time, breakfast has just been brought up”. Mind still fuzzy from sleep, you use your arms to push yourself up in bed.
You blink at Dean as he places the tray on the bed next to you, “You’re up early”.
He sat down by you, you looked from your plate to his face. He was showing no signs of what happened last night. “thought we could spend the day at the beach”. You took a slip of tea and smiled. “it’s a shame we can only do a weekend away”.
You hummed, keeping your eyes on your breakfast. “Winchester guns won’t run by itself”. Aware he’s still watching you; you stop what you’re doing and tilted you head and smiled at him. “everything alright?”.
“’course. Just didn’t think you would want to talk about business” he looked away to the clock.
Silence filled the room, “I’m a Winchester now. I should care about the business” you said. Pausing after because it was the first time you had said that. He had turned now, watching you with curiosity, it was the first time he had heard you say it as well.
“I leave you to get dressed” he said standing up quickly and leaving the room before you could comment.
You stayed and watched the door , thinking he would come back but he didn’t.
You took your time getting dressed, picking a plain green dress with puffy sleeves that cover half your arms. Keeping this simple you chose a small pearl necklace and matching bracelets. Brushing your hair until it was knot free you put in up in a low bun, you didn’t need to do anything fancy when you would be wearing a hat anyway.
Dean was waiting by the doors outside stomped on a roll-up on the floor.  You chuckled looking at his sheepish expression. “You can hide that but not the smell”, you tapped your nose. He bites his lip outstretching his arm. Smiling you turned your head and took his arm.
“I hired a care for the day” his steps quicken. “I’ve missed driving”.

Just as you thought the beach wasn’t quiet. On a warm day in late March, you didn’t think it would be any different. After renting a pair of beach chairs you laid back. Children’s laugher draws your attention, a little boy and girl were building sandcastles together with their adoring parents watching close by.  Having children felt like a lifetime away, especially if all you did was share a few hungry kisses.  Smiling over at the picture-perfect family one last time before looking back to the sea.
When your legs started to go numb you kicked off you shoes and stood up. “I might go for a paddle” you mention still looking forward, you took your hat off and looked at Dean. “want to join or will you watch my things?”.
“you enjoy yourself, ill wait here”, he nodded to the cool waters. Smiling you walk forward.
From his seat, Dean watches as you lift your dress so it wouldn’t get wet. The soft breeze your baby hairs across your face. He doesn’t know what to think seeing you there. When he closed his eyes, he could feel your silky lips against his, he shook the feeling away. He knew you knew something was off, that there was something holding him back and he knew you deserved to know the reason but tell the truth would hurt more than one person.
He watched as you knelt and handed a boy a shell they had dropped. You face lit up in laugher when they said something.  You turned to him and pointed for the boy to look over, when the boy did his own smile dropped.
Waving goodbye, you walked back to Dean, “made a friend?” he raised an eyebrow when you sat back down.
You smirk raising an eyebrow back. “what, you jealous of a 5-year-old?”, you laughed.
“no” he laughed.
You licked your licks shaking your head. “he said, ‘my papa said pretty girls shouldn’t be out alone’ and I told him ‘I’m not alone, my husband is over there’ and then I came back here”. You patted his hand without thinking “are you enjoying yourself? For some reason I feel like the beach isn’t really your ideal place”.
“I haven’t been myself since we were children. Just feel out of place” he shrugged, it made you feel sympathy for him. You hadn’t thought about what it felt like to be sent away to a school where you knew no one, coming back for the rare holiday, knowing people but feeling apart from it all.
“well then, we’ll have too do more things like this” you grinned stretching out. “I’ll even let you drive; sure, you’ll like that”.
You both lay in silent for the next hour before deciding to find a spot of lunch. The air around felt lighter, you had moved past event of the night before. Trying to accept the unknown reason why he didn’t want to take things far. You found yourself liking this version of him more, this version who would laugh and smile at you, he reminded you of the child you knew. You were willing to face the years ahead of you, willing to wait for the day he was ready to tell you what was holding you back. And in realty you were grateful because you weren’t even sure you were ready to share everything with someone.
