Brotherhood by Necessity I like this! James kinda sorta accidentally kidnaps Regulus off the battlefield, but Regulus also hit his head so he's not really sure what and why is he fighting for. James and Lily decided to de-radicalise him with kindness and keep him hiding with them. Sirius is sus, and Peter is... well, it's not a spoiler to say that Peter is a traitor.

The Serpent's Tongue by Equinesandcanines Sirius is in Slytherin but still best friends with James and Peter, and has massive, funny beef with Ravenclaw!Remus but they are willing to be civil for Regulus (who is bullied by Avery). Also Walburga sucks

Like Real People Do by Arins_Writings Regulus survives the cave but doesn't manage to do much about the Horcruxes; so when Voldy is 'killed' by the Potters he hits up Dumbledore, who tells him there's this brand new funky prophecy that suggest he (Regulus) should time travel and work with "a martyr" (James) to find the horcruxes and end Voldemort before too many people die. Regulus isn't happy about it but he's doing it. LOVE Regulus being older than Sirius via time travel shenanigans.

A Kinder World abso-fucken-lutely BANGER of a universe; Regulus almost singlehandedly ends Voldemort, the Potters and the Longbottoms are saved, Sirius only spends about a month or two in the Azkaban and they all (lily james sirius remus and regulus) live in a polycule for a really long while. The second work deals with Regulus' eating disorder that almost killed him in his fifth year and the slide to joining Death Eaters; and the third work in the series is in golden trio era when McGonagall asks Regulus to become a DADA professor (that's still a WIP).

Blood and Water by euphorial_docx Last Of Us AU! Regulus is immune to zombie bites and James is escorting him across the country to a research facility. You don't need to know the game or the series to enjoy it, and it is indeed very enjoyable!

Tale As Old As Time by xojosten Regulus is stressed, James is nosey, and uh oh they accidentally time travelled to 1997 (the make-up eight year for Harry). I'm loving it so far, definitely love the concept, and the writing is so good!

Talking Myself Out of Things Since Forever

Growing up, I wasn't shown how to set goals and achieve them. Instead, whenever somebody came up with an idea, it was made clear what would go wrong and why that goal probably wasn't worth it.

When I was kid, this puppet maker would come to the local fair and sell intricate hand puppets of super heroes and movie characters, like Hulk and Harry Potter. When I got to high school, I wanted to do the same thing, and had the skill to do so, so I bought a bunch of felt and sewing supplies and got to work on my own puppets. Then a prominent mentor in my life said, "Oh no, you shouldn't do that. Those characters [super heroes, etc.] need to be licensed. You don't want to get sued." So I stopped.

Here I was trying to create something and provide value to the people around me--and do something that not just the puppeteer but SEVERAL other artists had done at this fair with various mediums--and this bozo in my life is putting up bullshit obstacles for me. I was pretty upset, because I was looking for a creative outlet where I could make something with my hands and share it with others, but nope. That had to end, because I needed to be scared of some made up legal team sending me a cease and desist on the off-chance that they actually saw my work ever.

And that's not even a good obstacle. "Lawyers are going to come knocking if you make a fucking Ron Weasley puppet." Who the fuck? Like who the fuck thinks that will actually happen? "Oh, you wanna set out a goal for yourself, young one? Nope, I'm going to put up a big, fake, fucking wall in front of you, because I have never confronted the boogeymen in my life and know no better than to teach you the same scared mindset. I love this person, but what the fuck?

On the flipside, let's say a lawyer had contacted me for sewing these little puppets for the town fair. You mean something I created got popular enough to be on the radar of the legal team of a billion dollar company? GOOD. No such thing as bad publicity. That means what I created was tangible, notable, and good enough to be a threat.

This brings me back to a mentor in my life telling me not to study for the SAT. Their reasoning went: "Well, you're not supposed to study for the SAT. Ideally, it would measure your aptitude of just you as a person. Studying throws off the results for everybody." COOL. Well, all the other honors students got 2200s and I got a fucking 1870 not studying and got left in the dust. Sure, studying for the SAT is "going with the crowd," but why use a handheld screwdriver to build a house when everybody else has power drills? If we're all competing in life, why would I disadvantage myself by foregoing the tools at my disposal? This attitude is learned helplessness. I get that it is a carryover from my mentors' own shitty, impoverished, broken childhoods, but FUCK. Looking back at each event since I was young where this mindset was instilled in me repeatedly is infuriating, like I'm watching my past self through soundproof glass and screaming at them not to listen. I was totally capable of getting good scores on my SAT and even better grades in school. I was capable of getting into a great college. I could have kept my scholarship rather than losing it due to depression. But that's over. There is no more pointing of fingers. I have to work through this anger and then move on.

I now wonder in which other areas of my life I construct these fake boogeymen. This is already the crux of Project Sour Grapes in a nutshell, but as I'm thinking back through my childhood considering the above two incidents, the frequency and relatedness of these types of events is becoming more clear. A few important people in my life set up fake obstacles and fabricated problems out of thin air, because that is the pattern they see the world with. Life is big and scary to them.

Well, instead of that, you know how I WILL see life? All obstacles are a mirage. It's all fake. Yes, it would be a total meme to mention that one guy who ran the first 4-minute mile. But he literally did that despite the world telling him no. Scientists decided something was impossible, and he was like, "Lol." Our decisions that we can't do something are just stories we make, because we want to be congruent with our past selves and others. That's very kind of us humans to not be total flitting psychopaths, but it is more important to realize that see that the reason most of us wake up everyday, daydream about our goals, then do nothing about it, is because of the stories we tell ourselves and the excuses we make. "Either my past self or somebody else told me this was hard and impossible, so I guess I can never ever do it. Let me just think about it every day instead until I fucking die."

I don't need to go balls-to-the-wall with this and stay up until 3am tonight working on my business and studies, but I can approach my current daily routine with my new mindset. "How would I do this differently if I saw no obstacles? How about if I knew I would be successful? Which boogeymen have I constructed, and have they kept me from making progress towards these goals that I know need to get done?" Bonus question: "Am I more likely to construct a boogeyman for the goals that really matter, because the thought of failing at them hurts so much that I have to pass the blame onto some fake monster in my head?"

Obstacles are fake. Totally bogus. They look like cinderblock walls, but they're spray painted styrofoam at best. They're there to see who cares enough to blast through them.

A Letter From The Dead || J. Potter x Reader (Part 2)

My grandfather passed way a month ago, so I was feeling very down. That's what inspired me to write this.

Part 1

His mind was running miles per minute. It was 3 am, yet there was no sign of sleepiness on any inch of his face. Your letter was clutched tightly in his hand, and he was too zoned out of the world to think about anything else.

They could barely talk, yet they had made a promise of no secrets, then why did you break it? Were you that scared?

"It's just a caterpillar, James. It won't eat you"

"I don't care. It's nasty"

"No it's not. Look"

"GET THAT AWAY FROM ME, Y/N!"

No, you were strong. Very strong. Emotionally and mentally. You provided him joy in the darkest of times. You helped him when no one did.

"Y/N!"

"What's wrong?"

"Sh-She called me a git"

"Who?"

"Lil-Lily flower"

"Isn't that a normal recurrence now?"

"Y/N!"

"Oh alright, come here. There's no sadness a hug can't erase"

"And your hugs are the best, Y/N"

You were his strength, his confidence. The only person who encouraged him to tell more jokes even when no one was listening, just so that he wouldn't feel bad.

But what did he do? What did he do in return? Did he appreciate you? Thank you? Told you that you were special? Did he ever ask you if you were alright? No. He didn't.

And it was too late now. Too late to ask you for forgiveness. Too late to appreciate you. Too late to thank you and tell you you're special. Too late to ask you if you're fine. Too late to love you.

A tear slowly escaped his eye and landed on the letter, just above the blood stain, your blood.

"She said yes"

"Don't joke James"

"I promise, Y/N. Lily said she'll go out on a date with me"

"Sh-She did?"

"Yes! I'm so happy, Y/N"

"And I'm so happy for you, James"

He was stupid. Stupid to fall for your fake happiness, your fake smiles. Only if once he had asked you how you were or what was going through your mind.

"We're dating"

"You and Lily?"

"Obviously. Who else would I date?"

"Hmm true"

"Are you happy for us?"

"Do you wanna know how happy I am?"

"Yes"

"Drinks are on me tonight"

"It's not okay to be so happy, Y/N"

"What can I do? My best friend finally got a girlfriend"

You were such a good actor. He was in awe of how flawlessly you hid your heartbreak underneath a smile. Or how you supported him even after you knew he would never love you the way he loved Lily.

"I think I'll propose her next month"

"Isn't it too fast, James?"

"But I want her to be a permanent part of my life"

"F-Fine but if it goes wrong, don't blame me"

He proposed Lily. Married her, and stopped meeting you. Because he was busy being a good husband, and after Harry, a good father. He became too busy to acknowledge that one person who acknowledged him when not even the love of his life did. He replaced you so quickly.

"James"

"JAMES"

"JAMES POTTER"

"Sheesh Sirius, you'll wake up Harry. What's wrong?"

"Y/N"

"What about her"

"When did you last talk to her"

"..."

"James, when did you last send her a letter or met her?"

"I-I think it's been four months. Why?"

"On what occasion?"

"When we made her Harry's godmother. Now will you tell me what's wrong?"

"She's dead"

You deserved the world. You deserved happiness, not death.

"Her entire house was empty, just this letter was found"

"How did she die?"

"She committed suicide"

"She-what?"

"Suicide, James. She killed herself"

No amount of tears would bring you back. No cries or saddened faces. You were gone. Gone from his life, gone from Harry's life. Gone from Sirius's life. Gone from everyone's lives.

"The letter that was found is meant for you, Mr. Potter"

"For me?"

"Yes, Mr. Potter"

He'll keep it safe. Your last memoir. Just this letter. Your confession. He'll keep it close to himself because you kept him close to yourself. He'll love this letter, because he didn't get a chance to love you. But maybe, destiny would unite them in the afterlife.

It's so bittersweet to think about the moments spent with a person who's now just a mere memory, but those cherished moments are something James and Y/N both will keep close to each other until they reunite.

EW Triwizard Tournament AU - Part 2/3.

Matt finally showed up! And he’s a student at the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic✨. What happened to Matt’s grandparents? Who is the blonde girl? This and much more will NOT be answered in the next chapter!

Well, digging a bit into the Harry Potter fandom I learned about the non-canonical houses of this academy (since almost nothing is known about the history of Beauxbatons), and that is the reason for the waistcoats and ties/ribbons of different colors. The houses are Bellefeuille 💚 (here is Laurel), Papillonlisse 💜 (here are Matt and Diwi) and Ombrelune 🖤. I liked the description of these and the method of selecting students, so considering that it is one of the largest magic schools and the one that accepts students from the most countries (France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands based on my research), I found it nice to incorporate it into this AU. I hope you guys like it!

I really like Edd’s cat face that appears in a couple of episodes, so I’m happy to be able to add it into a panel for this AU. Also, I’ve been trying to polish the drawing style that I want to give to this AU, I want to get even closer to a cartoonish style. I hope you guys like how it’s evolving. We are close to finishing this first arc!

And if you are wondering, since Durmstrang is a small Institute, it will have no houses. I wonder who is in that institute…

P6- Matt: Para su información, nuestros uniformes consisten de tres piezas hechas con la más fina seda del mundo mágico.

Matt: Además, estos uniformes tienen un hechizo que hace que se ajusten a nuestro cuerpo perfectamente, así que no es necesario comprar nuevos uniformes con el pasar de los años.

Matt: Son magníficos~

P7- Edd: Sí claro, y supongo que los colores son parte del hechizo? Jaja no te preocupes, Matt. Sabemos que la sobriedad no es lo tuyo.

Edd: ¡Ahora entiendo por qué te mudaste! Realmente hiciste que las cosas BRILLARAN para ti.

part 3: soft bois

mood: for when I need respite, a balm to the all-consuming shittiness of life

includes: fluff, comfort, low-stakes, slow-burn fics. a wistful look, a rainy morning, an unexpected grace, a stupidly disarming joke. i could live inside these fics. the smallness of human lives removed from the site of that which hurts & irreparably changes. the story-equivalent of a deep breath after a long day. pregnant silences & pensive mundanity & shy smiles. banter with bite but without the cruelty. the color lavender. weirdly whimsical. soft fics are not necessarily conflict-averse (no drarry fic rly can be, considering the context) but, they offer the reader a generous distance from the initial harm. they’re the quiet cleaning up after a storm. sometimes healing is an exacting surgical knife and other times it’s a slow scabbing. you read these fics to be reassured that the way forward is not always ruthless. and honestly?? they deserve a semblance of peace godDAMmit.

The Way Down by @letteredlettered - 65k - T “and I thought that if someone talked to you as though you were a human being you might—maybe you could act like one” --the way i think about this line daily. the characterization of draco in this fic is one my favorites bc he’s earnest and neurotic and tired of harry’s shit. which is to say, he cares so so much. and harry doesn’t know what to do with that bc he’s got a monster in his chest and lives as a recluse. but they both humanize each other in ways no one else can. “you’re just a person” has to be some kind of drarry ethics of belonging and it makes me CRY. -

Little Deaths and How to Avoid Them by @greaseonmymouth and dustmouth - 96k - T “Maybe it’s not about deserving it? Maybe you just get to have it anyway. . .I’m allowing myself to want something and to let myself have it and to fight for it.” --harry runs a daycare and also works at a library. draco spends a lot of time in said library. they bond over sci-fi books and therapy anecdotes and quiet philosophical conversations held over cafeteria soup. and harry’s struggling to understand his asexuality. draco’s learning how to live with anxiety and depression. they both want to be deserving of love. incredible fic with beautiful art by dustmouth. -

Open for Repairs by @drarrytrash - 35k - T “A few leaves rustle in the gutter and the muggle world pays no mind to them, to two lost boys holding on for dear life.” --all of their fics feel exactly like this. like you’ve been allowed to look at something private, tender, unexpected. draco, known abba fan, is a repairman in the muggle world & harry can’t stop breaking thrifted things in order to see him? say less, i'm thERE. also “I think I have a crush on you” goddddd - other faves by them: Counting Down By Ten - 2k - T: draco’s stepped outside of the party for a smoke. harry follows him bc of course he does. i could read this 100 times and not get tired of it. - Clouds That Veil the Midnight Moon - 36k - E: FUCKING HILARIOUS I CACKLED THROUGH THE WHOLE THING. draco’s wolfy problem and harry helping him and harry being flustered by how much he likes draco and draco’s hot heroic moment. shutup it’s perfect. “He almost asks if Draco ever gets tired of being a miserable complaining shit all the time, but he knows that he, personally, never ever gets tired of being a miserable complaining shit.” and “It’s the traumas,” Harry says gravely” --lines that live rent free in my head -

Harry Potter and the Future He Doesn't Really Want, Thanks by seefin - 70k - E “That was the only logical thing to do here, wasn’t it? It was the next step, it was the end of hurting each other and the beginning of the exact opposite.” --harry lives with luna and neville and also he dreams about the future sometimes? and he keeps running into draco. draco thinks this is sus as hell, until he doesn’t. feat. taxi rides, museums, cinemas, rooftop conversations beneath a lunar eclipse, mid-sex innocuous banter, draco and harry discussing nicki minaj. this fic charmed my ass off. seefin writes the most effortlessly hilarious dialogues. i smiled at my phone like an idiot at least 7 times. - other faves by them: Wild - 93k - E: “he liked feeling needed, for the things that he was needed for back at the house in Ireland. For cooking and gardening and driving. Easy things.” --this shit makes me cry it’s so good. harry lives in Ireland with these three brilliant, hilarious, wandless witches and draco’s a potions student who's come to study under one of the housemates and the boys have so much shit to work through but their love becomes so tender and honest. draco yells at harry a lot and harry lets him and they both keep each other grounded in something real and fuCK. - Divination for Dickheads - 7k - G: “I’m terrible at having crushes. I’ve never played anything cool a day in my life.” -- oh harry, we knOW. a bus ride, a fortune teller, an aquarium birthday party. god i love this fic. -

Modern Love by @tackytigerfic - 61k - E “But we’ve worked so hard at this, haven’t we? Yeah, I know it’s a horror to have to talk about it, but fuck it. We’re friends now, but it took so long to get here. Have you ever had to work so hard at something before?" --the steady blossoming of their friendship in this fic is so goddamn beautiful i want to yell. it’s draco and harry learning to trust each other and the whole thing unfolds so slowly, in this whimsical mix of london streets, wizarding politics, church halls feat. a Hot vicar, and a magical antique shop owner who’s married to literal poseidon?? goD the environment of this fic. immaculate. [also there’s a tender shower scene that makes me cry every single fucking time so if you read this fic pls dm me so we can be embarrassing about it together tbh] -

Nice Things by aideomai - 22k - M “He kept waiting for the weird shock of touch to not knock him clean out of his head, leave him quiet and warm and happy.” --8th year. harry forms an unlikely friendship with draco that begins with smoking weed on a windowsill. harry is touch-starved and draco touches him like he touches all his close friends - like it’s easy. the quiet affection in this fic, the way harry burrows himself into touch bc he’s been without it for his entire life. reading this is like being held. -

Running On Air by @tinyhistory - 74k - T “do you remember when we were eleven?” --alexa play coldplay’s the scientist it’s sad girl hours and we’re about to fucking yearn. you’ve seen this fic rec on every drarry list under the sun and i'm here to be redundant. the hype is so goddamn real. this story is a lyrical masterpiece held together by lines that act as refrains that will rattle around your brain until you die, probably. draco’s been missing for 3yrs. harry goes to find him. it’s their odyssey of homecoming. -

Title of Their Sex Tape by @cibeewastaken - 12k - T “But Draco, Draco was everything but boring. Draco made sitting in the rain watching an empty house fun.” --auror partners pining and draco being eccentric and harry being very earnestly gay about draco’s eccentricities!! god this fic is so genuinely fun skskd feat. undercover missions, murderous faeries, a book heist, a stunning navy dress, harry’s eyelashes. -

How We Throw Our Shadows Down by @thistle-verse - 14k - T “Draco is about to say something else— to thank Potter for what he’d done, however poorly— but Harry is smiling at him again, and it’s so soft and perfect that Draco holds in any inadequate words, lest he spoil it.” --draco collects tea cozies and of course harry has the one he wants. the sad and tender gays are at it again feat. conversations in the rain at a train station, melancholy Blaise, muggle photos, wizarding e-bay, the Dursleys. -

Helix by Saras_Girl - 92k - E “Draco sighs in his sleep and Harry clings on to consciousness, needing to hold on, to give this tiny, insignificant moment the attention it deserves” --I think maybe you can describe every soft Saras_Girl story as giving tiny, insignificant moments the attention they deserve. like, this is an 8th year fic about snails and it’s full of whimsy, grief, compassion, and easy humor. an absolute must-read author in this genre if you want languorous, episodic fics full of distinct OCs and affectionate creatures. - other faves by them: Light up the Night Sky - 98k - M “Draco, sometimes you make my head feel like soup” --the one where harry is a fireworks artist and has a pet chameleon named ken. draco is on the wizarding arts council. they both pine like hell. - Headlights in the Snow - 71k - M “they stare at each other in silence, Harry’s heart beating so loud in his chest that he thinks the biddies must be able to hear it over the sound of their card game.” --the one where draco drives the knight bus and carts around the biddy club, a group of rambunctious old ladies who knit and drink tea and gossip. harry can’t help but fall in love with the everything about this. -

Follow the Water by @xanthippe74 - 38k - T “Harry’s heavy thoughts lift at the sight, like dark clouds blown away from the sun by the wind. The tent doesn’t feel so cramped and stifling now. It feels cozy. And safe. It’s the same feeling that Harry gets when he’s at the Burrow for Sunday roasts, when a group of people who care for each other deeply are crammed into too-small a space.” --harry wanders to the lovegood house on a sunday afternoon. he’s baffled to see that luna’s taken pansy, greg, and draco under her wing. what follows is a summer of forest walks, scavenger hunts, gardening, water fights, odd cakes, faerie rings, and picnics. so many picnics. i love the pace of this fic, the innocent return to childhood things, the way luna brings out the best in all her friends. reluctantly soft slytherins are just *chefs kiss*!! -

Going Postal (A 125pg comic) by dustmouth - T what. a. beautiful. ass. comic. the wizarding fashion, the textures, the character design!! harry travels a lot for his job as a resourcer. draco works in the regulations dept. they pine like a bunch of lovesick idiots via field report notes. god i love dustmouth’s art. -

All the Earnest Young Men by @tepre - 29k - E “Draco is twenty-seven layers of personality wrapped up in drama and humour, and a wit so sharp it still stings when he doesn’t see it coming. But there is something below that, too. Something that makes Harry ache just looking at him.” --the way i would lay down my little life for tepre’s characterization of draco, whom invented the word earnest. he’s a magical art theory expert and portraits are disappearing all over London and harry’s the auror assigned to this case. and well. they’re both so very avoidant about how gay they are for each other and it’s like!! shutup and kiss!! which they do in fact, shutup and kiss. -

Trenches by sara_holmes - 3k - M “Somewhere in the distant part of his mind that hasn't frozen solid, he thinks that maybe he and Draco are about to become more than auror partners, smoking buddies, wine-mates and co-inhabitants of a snow filled trench somewhere in western Scotland.” --the plot line here is literally “it’s cold and i need a fucking cigarette” but let me tell you how I never tire of the shared loaded-silences of two emotionally repressed gays. -

The Years Before Love by lomonaaeren - 13k - M “That’s one of the meanings of peace, he thinks, as Hermione hugs him...That he can do things slowly, softly, without worrying that they won’t be there tomorrow.” --andromeda taking harry under her wing and harry finding solace in teddy. narcissa and draco showing up and the tentative relationships that slowly develop in the quiet calm of andromeda’s house. found families and kisses in the snow and special xmas gifts ugh what’s not to love -

The Moon Looks Lovely Tonight by Omi_Ohmy - 35k - M “I want this to be a house where people are welcome, where they don’t have to be any one way or another” --in which harry collects lost things--owls, best friends, inept bakers, potions experimenters--and turns the mausoleum that is grimmauld place into a home. feat. your fave drarry tropes like shared-beds and reluctant waltzing partners. -

That's all I can think of for now. I may update this list later as I become comfortable with characters I didn't list or get involved in new fandoms (or add fandoms I forgot to list before).

If you want to request multiple characters, limit yourself to asking only up to 5. They don't all have to be from the same fandom, but I may split them into different posts. Ex: You request something for Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst from Steven Universe, but also for Gojo and Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen. I would post the SU characters and the JJK characters separately. At least, that's how I think I'll do it. This may change later.

Also, I should clarify what exactly I'll write. By the way, I only do SFW prompts and topics. Here's what I do and don't do:

Will Do:

- Basic character headcanons

- S/o headcanons (ex. female! s/o, sick! s/o, tall! s/o, etc.).

- Ship headcanons (I reserve the right to refuse a ship I find uncomfortable or wrong like Italy x Romano or Piccolo x Gohan. Basically, don't ask for a ship where the characters are related or its an adult with a child [even if Gohan is older, there's still such an age gap])

- Platonic ship headcanons (This is different from ships which are romantic. For these, you can ask for headcanons about siblings, parents and children, friends, etc. Found family, like Yondu and Starlord or Silver and Jim Hawkins, count for this too [and I'll love you forever if you ask for that trope. I ADORE it])

- AU Headcanons (Basically, give me any series and AU you want [ex. Coffee Shop AU, Avatar AU, Good/Evil Swap, etc.] and I will try to figure out how the characters of said series would fit into the AU. This could be anything from The Owl House characters in a Harry Potter AU where I'd sort them into houses and figure out what their lives would be like at Hogwarts or My Hero Academia characters in a Circus AU where I figure out everyone's role in the big top)

Won't Do:

- Reader inserts. Maybe in the future, but not right now.

- Match ups, meaning you send info about yourself and I match you with who you should date. Also maybe in the future.

- Crossover stuff. No Scrooge x Gamora or something weird like that.

- Any super dark topics. I can handle violence, but don't go overboard. This includes yandere content. I don't like yanderes to begin with, but also its too popular; everyone has already written a million yandere headcanons.

My Favorite Fics 2020

Alrighty. I read a decent amount of fanfiction this year (mostly thanks to Wizards Hearts/Game of Drarry), and I’m here to list out some of my very favorites. Thank you to all of the creators out there who put so much time, effort, and energy into creating beautiful stories, and here’s to lots of reading in the new year 💜 also, this is in no particular order and all rec notes are from my personal fic tracker spreadsheet (if anyone wants details on how I set up my spreadsheet, etc. please feel free to send an ask!) 💕

1) Change on the Horizon by Static_abyss / @static-abyss [Explicit, 118.6k,]

When things settle down after the war, Harry has trouble figuring out who he’s supposed to be and what’s expected of him. At the same time, Draco finds himself having to decide between what his parents want and what he wants for himself. Together, Harry and Draco embark on a journey to figure out who they are as individuals and what that means for their future together.

A canon AU drarry fic based on the relationship between Mickey and Ian from Shameless.

Hands down one of the best fics I've ever read. Ana did the most amazing job at translating Micky and Ian's relationship to Harry and Draco, although it’s definitely not necessary to know Shameless in order to enjoy the story. The writing is stunning, and I loved every single bit of this

2) I’ll Play Your Game by JayseHasNoGrace [Mature, 52.2k]

After quitting the Auror department at the ripe old age of twenty two, Harry Potter finds a nice, uneventful job in an apothecary. At least, it's uneventful until his old rival Draco Malfoy comes into the shop.

They strike up an unlikely friendship, which evolves into an increasingly convoluted scheme, which then snowballs spectacularly out of control into a tangle of lies and blurred lines.

They'd agreed to a fake relationship — in Harry's case, to get the wizarding world to take him off his 'perfect saviour' pedestal, and in Draco's case, just to be given a chance in wizarding society at all — but neither of them expected just how difficult that might really turn out to be. Especially when the stakes grow ever higher, and they both start falling for each other. Just a little bit.

FAKE DATING!!! Ugh, this was so good. I love the media aspect of it, and the way that everything comes together is just brilliant. A must-read for anyone who loves fake dating!!

3) I Can be Your Lighthouse by orpheous87 / @orpheous87 [Teen, 4k]

When Harry gets called to investigate reports of Dark magic, the last thing he expects to find is an almost unconscious Draco Malfoy. After multiple instances, he resolves to find out what's going on.

inspired by the song The Lighthouse by The Used.

So, so sweet. I love Harry's determination to figure out what's going on. This is such a lovely fic, and I enjoyed every minute of it

4) Freedom to be by Quicksilvermaid / @quicksilvermaid [Explicit, 169.5k]

Harry Potter is the Boy Who Lived.

12 years after the war, he's become the Boy Who Lived For Everyone Else. He has the perfect wife. The perfect house. The perfect job. The perfect friends.

Only nothing feels perfect.

Until one day he stumbles across a club called Release and begins a journey of self-discovery that takes him to a very different place.

This left such an impact on me, and it’s a fic I think about often. I can't even begin to explain how incredible everything about this is.

5) Dear Diary by AWickedMemory (TeddyLaCroix) [Teen, 20.4k]

// This can’t possibly go worse than the last time I kept a diary. //

After the war, Harry picks up a journal to write in… and it writes back. Luckily, it’s not a Horcrux on the other end this time.

Absolutely amazing. The relationship that develops between Harry and Draco as they write to each other was so soft and wonderful, and I would easily read 100k of this!

6) Grounds for Divorce by Tepre [Explicit, 122.2k]

Malfoy finds a coin. Harry finds a letter.

A story about histories, a story about families. A story about a lemon tree somewhere in Upper Egypt.

I loved this. It was so angsty at times, but well worth it. An absolute classic that I’m so pleased to be able to say I’ve read.

7) Nero Su Bianco by Zuzallove [Explicit, 40.5k]

September 1997. Hogwarts is under the regime of Voldemort and the Carrows. Finding himself alienated by both his friends and his supposed enemies, Draco puts quill to parchment, and writes letters. He addresses them to the only person he can think of, as Hogwarts rapidly falls into chaos and ruin: Harry Potter. He goes to great lengths to ensure the letters are never discovered, and he’s pretty certain he’s done a great job.

Until the day of his trial.

The letters were so much fun to read, even though they were heartbreaking at times. I loved Draco’s characterization in this, as well as how his relationship develops with Harry.

Amazing. This has absolutely sucked me into the world of fake dating. I could ramble about this forever, to be honest. Simply incredible, and I love how snarky their relationship was. It was the epitome of a good Drarry fic.

YES!! I genuinely loved Harry’s clinginess. This fic was absolutely amazing, and the secret dating was lovely. Plus, bi awakening!!

11) When Hippogriffs and Pygmy Puffs Collide by oldenuf2nb [Mature, 32.7k]

Harry Potter bakes cakes, brilliantly. Draco Malfoy inks tattoos, brilliantly. Owls deliver post, including messages from clients, with an occasional lack of brilliance.

I was really surprised at how much I loved this, especially since I’ve not really read many fics with odd jobs. I absolutely adored the fact that Harry was a baker and Draco was a tattoo artist, and the characterizations were absolute perfection

12) You Send Me (Honest You Do) by firethesound [Explicit, 37k]

As far as potion accidents go in general, and deaging incidents go in particular, Draco knew this could have been so much worse. Harry only lost about ten years, and all his memories are still intact. But the sight of him looking as if he’s stepped straight out of Draco’s Hogwarts memories has dredged up a whole mess of complicated feelings Draco thought he’d buried years ago, and Draco really doesn’t know what to do with any of it.

I absolutely adored this, and I thought the de-aging aspect was done is such a tasteful way. Such a good read.

13) Highly (in)Compatible by daisymondays [Teen, 36.8k]

Draco’s been shagging The Prat Who Lived on and off for a few months when his soul mark starts to change. Draco’s had to accept a lot of adjustments to his life, but accepting that Harry Potter could be his soulmate is one step too far. It can’t be true? Can it?

14) Kiss the Joy (Until the Sun Rise) by ICMezzo [Mature, 37.8k]

The Room of Requirement was severely damaged in the war, but not so much that it could not provide for one lost student and another young hero—especially when they needed each other most of all.

An amazing, beautiful, tender fic! The ROR has given them the gift of each other, and I honestly love that it's just the two of them and no other characters. An incredible and soft read

15) December Never Felt So Wrong by MaesterChill / @maesterchill [Explicit, 50k]

'Twas the month before Christmas and sixteen year old Draco Malfoy had never felt worse. His attempts to kill Dumbledore were failing and, as usual, Harry Fucking Potter was a constant thorn in his side.

All that suddenly changed when Draco woke up 15 years in the future and discovered that not only was he allegedly shagging Harry Fucking Potter, he also had thinning hair and a five year old son, and no fucking clue how he got there.

Truly brilliant, and I was laughing from the start. The combination of the aging up, Harry’s off-tune singing to Muggle songs, and soft parenthood were all things I immediately fell in love with. Will be reading again and again

When Draco Malfoy collides with Harry Potter one morning while dropping the kids off at school, things don’t go quite the way either of them would have expected.

Another absolute gem, and I'm still reeling from how amazing it was. I'm always a bit hesitant with kid fics, but this is one of the best depictions of love between Harry and Draco that I've read. I love how supportive Astoria is. Such a lovely fic

SUCH a good rewrite of the astronomy tower scene. I can’t describe how much I love the pre-existing relationship, which is a trope I typically steer clear from. And the snark!!! Such a good fucking fic

17) Taro Milk Tea with a side of Depression by Veelawings / @veelawings [Mature, 1k]

Draco sat through twenty grievous minutes of Ministry-mandated group therapy for Newly Registered Magical Beings & Creatures — then promptly stormed out.

Okay, I loved this. The play format was so cool and fit the narration so well. Absolute perfection and SO. GOOD.

18) The Dragon At The Bottom Of The Garden by Zopno [Explicit, 52.3k]

At 25 Harry Potter's life was simple; he flew, sculpted, and had the vault in the back of his mind to keep all unpleasant business. It was stable, but when Draco Malfoy literally hit him with a giant rock; all that changed.

I loved the storyline, especially Animagus bird Harry!! This was such a unique take on an Animagus and post-war fic, and I loved reading it so much

When Seamus uncovers Draco Malfoy's camboy profile, he, Harry and Ron decide to anonymously book a private show so as to humiliate him later. Fascinated by Draco's confidence, Harry keeps booking private shows under the disguise...

I can't give this enough praise. The hurt of it all was so brilliant. A new favorite for sure

20) you've got the antidote for me by Kandakicksass [Mature, 20.7k]

When Harry Potter unintentionally severs their soulbond before it can fully form, Draco Malfoy resigns himself to a slow death and decides not to burden Harry with a soulmate he's made it very clear he doesn't want.

He's never been selfless before, but for Harry, he can try.

Fuck. Like...fuck. This was so sad and angsty and perfect in all the right ways. Watching everything unfold was so painful but so worth it. Another new favorite

21) A Room Up There (And You In It) by thestarryknight [Teen, 59.2k]

When Preservationist Draco Malfoy was assigned to work on Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, he was excited to delve into the gorgeous Black family antiques. His excitement quickly ended when something in the House decided it did not like his presence one bit. Featuring a grumpy antiques lover who most certainly did not sign up for this, encounters with a vengeful apparition, and a healthy application of Christmas spirit.

Absolutely fucking fantastic. This fic reads intimacy all over, despite there being no sex. I love preservationist Draco and the way in which information about Harry unfolds. I can’t say enough how much I loved this advent fic, and Starry did such a great job

And now for three fics that I have yet to read/need to emotionally prepare myself for:

1) Modern Love by Tackytiger / @tackytigerfic [Explicit, 61.2k]

Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.

And it really doesn’t seem fair that Draco Malfoy is back in Harry’s life, all of a sudden, and even though he’s wandless, and living with Muggles, and making his mother cry with his lifestyle choices, he’s happy. So what's he doing right, that Harry isn’t?

Because things don’t really change, do they? And if Harry can’t be happy, he’ll settle for a good night’s sleep, some posh antiques, and the opportunity to find out what Malfoy has been up to for all these years.

And that’s what starts it all.

2) Dragons Don't Know Paradise by tainara_black / @teacup-tai [Explicit, 50.9k]

She knew that she was a witch both her parents, Pepper Potts and Tony Stark, are and they both went to Hogwarts. She was excited, she'd finally get to see her cousins, Ron, Percy, Fred, and George Weasley, again. She met Draco Malfoy and fell for him.

Professor McGonagall leads all of the first years into the dining hall. You look up at the ceiling, it looks like night sky.

"That's so cool!" Kate exclaims.

"Right a long here please," Professor McGonagall says and gestures to the bottom of the steps and the first years gather around it. Infront you is a hat that looks very worn out. "Now before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

Dumbledore stands up, "I have a few start-of-terms notices I wish to announce. The first years, pleas note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also out caretaker, Mr Filch, has ask me to remind you that the third floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you," He sits back down.

"When I call you name you will com forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head," McGonagall say and pick up the hat and you will be sorted into your houses. She starts listing names alphabetically. The second name to be called is... "Bishop, Kate."

Kate walks to the chair and sits down almost as soon the hat is placed on her head it yells, "GRYFFINDOR!"

The whole Gryffindor table cheers. Kate stands up and walks to the Gryffindor table and sits down.

A few names later, "Granger, Hermione."

You look over at her and she takes a deep breath before walking forward, "Oh, No. Relax." She tells her self and starts walking forward.

"Mental, that one I'm telling you," Ron comments to Harry.

"Aah, right then. Hmm. Right. Ok... GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor table cheers and Hermione stands up and walks to the table.

"Jones, Michelle," McGonagall calls.

MJ walks to the chair when the hat gets placed on her head it thinks for a minute then "SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherins cheer as MJ walks towards the Slytherin table.

"Keener, Harley," Professor McGonagall says.

A boy with shaggy hair walk forward. McGonagall places the hat on his head. "Very smart, very creative must be... RAVENCLAW!"

"Leeds, Ned."

Ned walks forward when the hat is placed on his head it take barely three seconds to yell, "HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Malfoy, Draco."

Draco walks towards the chair and sits down, before the hat even touches his head it yells "SLYTHERIN!"

"Morales, Miles."

Miles steps forward, when the hat is placed on his head, "Hmm, I know... GRYFFINDOR!"

Of all the Gryffindors in the room, you hear Kate yell "yes" the loudest.

"Osborn, Harrison," McGonagall calls. (I know his name is not actually Harrison but it is in this fic)

Harry steps up to the chair the hat thinks for a good minute and a half then, "SLYTHERIN!"

"Parker, Peter."

Peter walk to the chair, when the hat gets placed on his head it seems to have a difficult time choosing between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor but at last, "GRYFFINDOR!"

"Potter, Harry," McGonagall says. The whole room goes silent.

Harry walks to the chair and sits down, McGonagall places hat on his head. "Hmm. Difficult, very difficult," it says. "Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent-- Oh, yes-- and a thrist to prove yourself. But where to put you? Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It all in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, there's no doubt about that. No? Well, if you're sure... better be... GRYFFINDOR!"

"Stark, Y/n."

You walk up to the chair when you turn around you see Fred and George waving at you. You wave back as you sit down. The hat is placed on your head, "Very ambitious and resourceful. Must be... SLYTHERIN!"

You walk over to the Slytherin table and sit between MJ and Harry.

"Weasley, Ronald."

Ron nervously walks to the chair. The hat is placed in his head. "Ha! Another Weasley, I know just what to do with you... GRYFFINDOR!"

A few more names are listed and they are sorted. Once everyone is sorted Professor McGonagall taps on her goblet with a spoon, "You're attention please."

Dumbledore stands up, "Let the feast begin."

Food appears in the table, including turkey, mashed potatoes, fruit, rolls and some other things that made it look like a Thanksgiving dinner.

"Is it just me or does it look like we're about to celebrate Thanksgiving?" You joke to MJ

"It does," She agrees, while picking up a chicken leg and placing it on her plate.

You pick up what looks like a french fry, "Are these french fries."

"They're chips," Draco responds with a mouth full of french fries.

"No chips are the potato flake things," You respond.

"Those are crisps, these are chips."

"You're wrong but okay," You sneer.

Draco rolls his eyes then takes a bite of a chicken leg.

Pt. 2 of my last Head Canon because I couldn’t fit it all into one post, but first, take this smol emotional support Sapphire Trio:

Both Sybill & Gilderoy, who were well aware of what just happened, immediately stopped to rush back in an attempt to help him, but were soon met by the now very, very aggravated Troll. Sybill had completely dropped her defensive attitude towards Gilderoy out of fear by now & instead of using the opportunity to yell at him some more, she simply held her arm out to stop him from doing anything stupid before raising her wand. However, no spells were needed, for the second Quiri came to the realization that the Troll was gonna stomp his brains out, he instinctively held up his hand & cried out for it to “STOP!” & much to his surprise, it did. They watched as it stumbled backwards a few paces & stood there utterly dumbfounded as he got back to his feet, still shaking violently. Sybill nearly dropped her wand & barely even noticed Gilderoy clinging to her like a coward, clearly in need of a moment to fully register everything that had just happened right before her eyes. Quiri of all people, had just managed to subdue a full grown, & not to mention, extremely irritated Troll! All on his own! Without magic! What? Why? How? Sybill’s confusion spiraled out of control as they steadily returned to their senses, Quiri insisting that they walk the dangerous creature back to the farthest edge of the Forest whilst it was still under his unexplained control. But of course, not a single one of her many questions could be answered just yet, for a flock of clearly flustered staff members had been waiting to greet them upon their return(the Troll now sitting a good distance away from the castle thanks to Quiri). By now I’m sure you’re all coming to realize the similarities between the Golden Trio’s “bathroom Troll” incident & these three’s currently being explained situation, which is good because it’s about to get a whole lot more similar: “It’s my fault professors.” Merlin’s beard, what’s this? Sybill of all people, taking the blame for one of Gilderoy’s greatest mishaps yet? Impossible! But nonetheless, it was true: “I had foresaw a prophecy of the Troll getting defeated tonight & thought I’d be the one to slay it.” Says she while sharing a knowing glance with both Gilderoy & Quirinus. “If they hadn’t followed me here, I’d probably be dead.” In the end, twenty whole points had been deducted from Ravenclaw house for “Sybill’s stupidity & serious lack of judgement” , but with that small loss came a much bigger prize: new found friendship. Thus forming our infamous Sapphire Trio.

Now I’m a huge Steven Universe fanatic, & upon relistening to some of the many amazing songs featured within the show, I couldn’t help but get a little inspired by SU’s lyrics, accompanied, of course, by my infatuation with HP. Here’s what I’ve got brainstormed so far:

-Quirrell redemption AU where him & Ginny are singing Here Comes A Thought, because HE’D BE THE PERFECT MENTOR CHARACTER FOR HER. They both fell victim to Voldemort’s manipulation & were basically forced to do terrible things in his favor, & for sure, they both need emotional healing from the horrid experiences they’ve been dealt. So I don’t know about you, but this entire song just perfectly captures that “mentor taking the time necessary to help their student heal from a traumatic experience that they too have experienced” type feel- & I am here for it!

-Lil Sybill & Quiri singing The Jam Song, but about tea or something- Oh don’t look at me like that! I just thought it’d be cute, okay!?-

-Snape singing It’s Over Isn’t It after hours, alone in his office. Just give the song a listen, you’ll see what I mean.

-Lockhart singing Haven’t You Noticed(I’m A Star). There really isn’t an explanation needed here.

-AVPM Quiri & Voldy singing Peace & Love On The Planet Earth. Because I live for non canon Quirrelmort(canon Quirrelmort is practically the equivalent of a toxic relationship between a parasite & it’s suffering host, & I don’t see how anyone can actively ship something along those lines. Thank Merlin we have Starkid & their shenanigans to make things a little more wholesome between these two)-

Sooo yeah! Just thought I’d share those lil ideas with you guys & maybe even introduce the art of Steven Universe to those of you who have yet to witness it at full potential. It’s truly a beautiful series & one of, if not my most, favorite shows. The messages expressed are realistic & relatable, the characters featured are diverse & dynamic, & all in all, I’m sure you’d be happily surprised to find that there’s quite a few similarities between it & the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. Definitely recommend.

Entangled (Spencer Reid x femReader) [Ch.5]

Summary: You don’t know how it happened. One moment you were watching Criminal Minds, and the next moment you were literally in the show. Can Spencer be the key to helping you find your way back home?

Warnings: minor character death, mentions of su*cide, bad explanations of quantum mechanics, sexual situations(some non-con), the usual criminal minds-type content

A/N: MGG gave us so much material to work with yesterday *ahem* great, respectful visuals. I feel the need to post two chapters in 1 day to keep these good times-a-going.

You weren't excited to go home. You had spent the last few days with Spencer, and you wanted to give the man a breather.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay over at my place? There's this new documentary out about mantis shrimps that I've heard good reviews on. I was thinking of watching it tonight." Spencer asked, following you to your car.

"No I should go home and deal with-um." You squinted your eyes to think.

"Chris," Spencer smirked.

"Yeah, Chris. I also want to try out that piano."

"You should, you're good at it."

"I haven't played since I was in my high school's band." You stood next to the door, clicking the button to unlock it.

"I guess I'll have to ask Morgan then." Spencer squinted in the sun, watching Derek leave the building.

"Something tells me he doesn't find mantis shrimps as fascinating as you and I." You commented.

"I'll see you tomorrow then?" Spencer asked.

"Bright and early."

"And you remember the addresses I gave you?"

You held up your phone. "Wrote them down."

"Good. Drive safe."

You reached out and pulled him into a quick hug.

"I will. Bye Spence."

************************************************************************ You stood at your entryway, hanging up your coat while you took everything in again. You still couldn't believe you owned all of this and had a rewritten history to go along with it.

There was still an entire second floor that you hadn't seen.

You trailed up the banister to the second floor. The first door you now knew was the bedroom, that left 3 more doors. You tried the next door over and opened it to reveal a bathroom. Of course, the bathroom was luxurious with a bathtub that reminded you of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The next door over was a guest room, although it looked like it didn't have much use and was being used as an art and yoga studio. The next room was your favorite. Rows and columns of shelves full of books lined the walls your heart beat raced as you walked, running your fingertips along the spines of the books. A desk and computer sat at the end of the room, which you assumed was used when you worked from home.

There was a cozy nook with a sofa and chairs against another wall and all you wanted to do was curl up and read a book. This was definitely your favorite room of the house.

You chose a random book and sat down to read, getting cosy with a throw blanket and pillow. You must have lost track of time because, when you turned around to look out the window, the sun had gone down.

You left the room, wanting to explore more, but you walked into something.

"Y/N. You're, home. How was work?"

"Chris, hey. Work was good." You replied, inching around him.

"You didn't tell me you were leaving on a case."

"I didn't. I'm sorry." You faked sincerity, trying your best to avoid the stranger.

"You haven't seemed like yourself lately is everything alright?"

"Yeah, great. Everything is great."

"Were you actually on a case, or were you at Spencer's again?" He frowned.

"I was on a case Chris. I just forgot to tell you."

"You've been forgetting a lot lately."

Well there is a good reason for that. "I know, I'm sorry."

"Prove it." His eyes darkened. "Prove you're sorry."

"Um how?" You wrung your hands together.

"You haven't been around in a while, maybe you can spend the night in bed with me?" Um no, not going to happen. Stranger danger. Abort. Was this relationship entirely sexual?

Suddenly learning about mantis shrimps with Spencer was sounding a lot more enticing.

"I-I'm a little hungry. I think I'll go-" He held your arm, stopping you. Holding your hand up to kiss it. You cringed remembering how Spencer looked doing that to the unsub.

He started to kiss up your arm.

"Chris, I'm tired." You could smell a hint of alcohol on his breath. Your mind worked to think of ways to calm him down without angering him.

He sighed.

"Then let me take care of you."

Again, you cringed, in fact, you wanted to vomit. Spencer had said the same thing to you the night you got here. After he saved you from drowning. Except his words carried a different meaning and were more welcomed.

You snatched your hand out of his grasp.

"I can take care of myself thank you very much."

"Y/N, why are you being such a brat?"

What is this guy's problem?

"I'm tired from work and I haven't had anything to eat. I don't want to sleep with you, Chris." You tried to keep your voice civil.

"Are you hiding something from me?" He asked, eyes narrowing.

"No."

"You are. Is it him? Did he mark you up after you two fucked at his house?"

"How dare you?!" You yelled, absolutely appalled.

"Maybe if I left marks he could see what doesn't belong to him." Chris trailed his eyes down your neck.

"Who the hell do you think you are? I don't belong to anyone, especially you!"

"I'm your boyfriend! Don't blame me for being jealous after the way you've been acting lately."

"Look, calm down and we can talk about this." You didn't know this man, you didn't know how angry he could get.

"How could you go for someone like him? Is it the intelligence you're into? He's fucking weird. He looks like a skinny drowned rat."

"Don't talk about him like that." He could say what he wanted about you, but you wouldn't let him talk shit about Spencer, he didn't deserve that.

"You're defending him now! So there is something going on between you two. I knew it! I always knew it!"

"There is nothing." You said too calmly.

He suddenly reached out and grabbed the back of your neck, roughly pulling you towards him into a kiss. You pushed against his chest, backing away.

"You're hiding something and I want to know what, so strip."

"No."

He grabbed the back of your neck again.

"Then I'll do it for you, yeah?" He roughly grabbed your shirt, snapping the buttons off and pulling it off of you. You covered yourself with your arms.

"You are out of your mind!" You cried. How could you ever treat this guy as a boyfriend? He was everything you hated.

"Well he didn't mark you here, did he mark your pretty thighs hmm? Did he spank you? Are you into that with him? I bet it's a professor and student thing." Chris barked out.

How he had gone from 0 to 100 so quickly, you didn't know.

"Get the fuck out of my house." You seethed.

"I live here!"

"Not anymore!"

With that, he stormed out, his drunken fatigue sparing you a longer fight. You lost the last of your resilience and fell, shaking, to your knees. You never wanted to see that horrible man again; he was a jealous prick. To think you gave him the benefit of a doubt when you first met; he didn't deserve anything from you.

You couldn't bring yourself to stand. You knew you weren't having a panic attack, but your anxiety was bad enough to have you shaking and crying on the floor. You reached out and grabbed your phone. Knowing it was the only thing you could do, you called Spencer. He picked up on the 4th ring. You could hardly hear them, he was somewhere loud.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Hey it's me." Although it was hard to hear him, his voice was already enough to begin calming your shaking hands.

"Hey Y/N what's up?"

"Heeeeeeeyyyy beautiful, you should have joined us tonight!" You heard Morgan's booming voice as he yelled into the phone.

"Oh, are you two out together?"

"Yeah Morgan offered to take me home, but then we stopped at this bar. There's live music!" Spencer sounded excited.

"You guys sound drunk already." You laughed, growing distracted from your current predicament despite your laying on the floor.

"Yeah, is there something you needed?" Spencer asked.

I need you.

You suppose he was enjoying himself tonight, you didn't want to take him away from that.

"I guess I just need to hear your voice." I need you here.

"You hear my voice all the time! Maybe too much! I'm always talking!" You heard Morgan loudly agreeing and women giggling and saying Spencer's name; trying to get his attention.

"Oh are you with JJ and Penelope?" Spencer took a moment to reply, saying something that you couldn't make out to the other people.

"No, why?" Because I need you here.

"It sounds like you're hanging out with a lot of people."

"We are! Morgan gave me this suuuuper strong drink and I started talking about the fall of the Roman Empire, it came up in a case once, and anyways, these two ladies came up to us and they love us! They want to hear all about Rome!"

"Spencer come dance with me please?" A female asked in the background.

"I-I don't dance," he replied to her.

"Then take me home." She whined, knocking into the phone with a thud.

"Um okay."

He returned to talking to you.

"Y/N I should go. Do you want to talk again later when everything isn't so loud?" Please don't leave.

"No I'm fine, go have fun Spence." He wasn't yours. Despite how close you two had already become, despite whatever fake history you shared, despite falling for the character on your tv screen.

"Okay." He hung up.

You dropped your phone on the floor you were currently sprawled out on. Feeling jealous, of course, for someone you had no right to be jealous for. To lash out at Spencer for having fun would make you no better than Chris.

When had you become so dependent on Spencer? It hadn't even been a week since your arrival here.

And yet you knew that he was the only person that made you feel like you weren't alone in this world, the only one who knew your secret. Is this what living in this new reality was going to be like? Lonely?

It's not like you had anyone in your previous life to turn to, what made this one so different, so heart-wrenching? Well, this universe had Spencer. Real Spencer. When Spencer wasn't around you, the absence felt abiding.

You eventually managed to pick yourself up, leaving your ripped shirt on the floor. You pulled yourself into the bathroom, avoiding looking at your reflection in the mirror. You drew yourself a hot bath and put a vanilla scented oil you happened to keep by the soaps, inside. You breathed in the scent as you soaked in the tub. It wasn't the same. It was too sweet. It wasn't Spencer. Everything always circled back to Spencer.

You weren't typically the kind of woman to measure your self worth by your relationship to a man. You and Spencer were friends, and although it seemed at times that it could be more, maybe it just wasn't meant to be. You weren't from this world, you were forced into it. You had a hell of a lot of baggage; you couldn't help but feel like a piece of shit today though. Chris was the reason you felt violated, but you weren't going to sit here and cry over him all night. You were going to throw his clothes out into the hallway and hope that was all he had here. No, the tears that fell down your cheeks now were for yourself. After the last few confusing days you've had, you deserved to have a cry alone in a bathtub that didn't smell enough like your one comfort in this world.

If you were a stronger, more forward woman, you would go to Spencer's house and wait for him. Maybe he slept with the girl from the phone call, maybe he didn't. Either way you would confess to him everything that made him your favorite character before and everything that made him your favorite person now. Like the last unsub, you realized you had quickly fallen for Spencer Reid, but you weren't brave enough, or in any condition, to act on those feelings. You sat there and felt sorry for yourself until the water ran cold. Draining it, you made your way to your bedroom, but you hated the way it smelled like Chris. You lit some scented candles that were lying around and took all the sheets off, throwing them in the wash that took you a while to find. You grabbed the throw blanket from the library couch and decided that was all you need tonight. You brushed your teeth and got prepared for bed as your phone rang.

Sighing and already thinking of excuse to tell Hotch why you were not up for a case tonight, you picked it up.

"Hello?"

"I know who you are."

"What? Who is this?"

"I know who you are."

"Is this a joke?"

"I know who you are."

"I know who you are." The voice grew louder.

"I know who you are." Louder.

"I know who you are!" Louder.

The voice hung up, feeling your skin crawl. Suddenly you felt terribly alone in this big apartment, alone and scared.

You locked your bedroom door and blew out all you candles. Still, not feeling safe enough, you retreated to your closet, grabbing the throw blanket and a pillow along the way. You locked the closet doors and threw the items on your couch, still clutching your phone.

You sat on the couch in almost complete darkness, only the moonlight from a small window lit the room. You watched the rain outside fall, feeling tears slide down your cheeks. You could call Spencer; you should call him, but would he even pick up? You decided against it and scrolled through your contacts settling on another number. Someone you hopefully wouldn't be disturbing so late at night because you knew he was a night owl.

"Hello?"

"Rossi?" You whimpered through tears.

"Y/N? What's wrong?"

"I-I'm scared. I got a strange phone call and-and I'm hiding in my closet. I don't know what else to do." Well you certainly didn't sound like a believable crime fighter now.

"Okay, stay calm. Do you have your firearm on you?"

"N-no I left it downstairs."

"Do you have any reason to believe that someone could get into your house tonight?"

"It's unlikely, but I'd feel safer with someone here."

"Listen, I can come check on you, but I live 60 minutes away. Have you tried calling Reid? He lives closest to you."

"He was drinking with Morgan earlier, I-I doubt he could manage to catch a bus here."

"Okay. Try him first, then call me back if he can't make it. I'll come over if he isn't available, but don't panic, okay? We're trained to not panic in high stress situations like this for a reason." I'm not trained for anything, but making coffee and acting!

"Okay thank you. I'll check with him."

Your hands shook as you called Spencer's contact. It nearly reached his voicemail.

"Hello?" Spencer sounded groggy like he had just woken up.

"Spencer are you in any shape to make it over to my place?" Your voice softened, as it seemed to do whenever you spoke to him.

"Um. One second." You heard him groan and sheets rustling, he was probably pulling himself up in bed.

"Yeah, I can come over." Spencer yawned.

"You might want to bring your gun."

"Why? Is something wrong?" He suddenly became more alert.

"I'm probably overreacting. Someone called me and repeated this creepy message a-and it was unsettling and I don't feel safe here so I locked myself in my bedroom closet," you tried to coherently explain.

You heard him struggling to put on clothes.

"Okay uh- stay on the phone with me, okay?" It sounded like he was tripping over items.

"Okay." You whispered.

"Is Chris with you at least?"

You swallowed before answering.

"No."

"And you left your gun downstairs as per usual?"

"Yes." This was a normal mistake you made?

"Dammit. Okay I-I'm coming I'll be there in 15 minutes."

"Okay. Thank you Spencer."

"No need to thank me alright?" He sounded out of breath.

"Ok."

"Just stay in your closet and stay quiet. If you hear anything, let me know."

"Ok."

Your phone beeped a few times and you lifted it to look at the screen. Of course, the battery was dead.

"Fuck," you whispered. Dropping the cell in favor of clutching the pillow to your chest.

As you sat there you counted down the minutes until Spencer said he'd be there in your head. You knew he would be there at the exact time he said.

Every once in a while you heard a creaking, but the place was so big it could have just been normal house noises.

You counted down and when you hit 0, exactly when you hit 0, you heard nothing.

Spencer should be here. He's always precise.

You waited and waited for what felt like ages until a knock at your bedroom door made you yelp.

"Y/N? Are you in there? Are you okay?!" Spencer yelled through he door.

You ran to open it.

"Spencer." Spencer lowered his gun, pocketing it, clutching your discarded, ripped shirt in his other hand.

You threw your arms around him and buried your face in the crook of his neck. He tightly hugged you closer to him. You hugged him until you stopped crying.

"Are you okay?" He asked, softly.

"Emotionally? No. Physically? Yes." You pulled back.

"I didn't find anyone. But I found this and your phone cut off and I-I thought something bad had happened to you."

"I'm okay."

"How did this happen to your shirt?"

"Chris."

Spencer's eyes widened.

"Oh. Um I didn't know. Sorry."

You nearly facepalmed.

"No. It wasn't like that. I didn't want to do it." You explained, numbly. Spencer blinked at you, expression unreadable, holding your face gently.

"Tell me everything."

You nodded pulling him inside your room and, still feeling nervous, you locked the door.

You sat on your bed and gestured for him to do the same.

"What happened to your sheets?"

"I didn't like how they smelled like him, they're being washed."

"Oh."

You were silent.

"Tell me what happened since you left the BAU. You called me earlier and you sounded fine, what happened?" He asked in the steady tone of his interviewing voice. You explained coming home and being stopped later in the day by Chris.

"I tried to tell him that I was tired and hungry. It felt like a stranger was touching me and I hated it." You sniffled. Spencer reached out and gave your hand a comforting squeeze, for a germaphobe he sure turned to physical touch as a means of comfort a lot.

"He didn't listen and he accused me of sleeping with you because we spend time together outside of work." You looked at your joined hands. "He told me to strip to show him marks."

"Marks?"

"The kind you get from being rough when intimate Spence." You tried to explain without making the air awkward.

"Oh."

"I didn't follow his demands, so he grabbed my neck and he ripped my shirt off. He said some vile things about you and I kicked him out. That's how that shirt got there." You finished that explanation.

There was a silent beat, Spencer's face going through the motions until he settled on anger and guilt.

"Y/N I-I am so sorry."

"Don't be. That guy being a dick wasn't your fault."

"You called me afterwards. You said you needed to hear my voice. I was too drunk to notice you weren't okay. If you had told me, I would've come straight over a-and brought Morgan with me. He could probably beat Chris up. Prove the dominant masculine power structure he craves is toxic."

"He's gone now, so I wouldn't worry about him any more." You shrugged.

"After the burst of anger he displayed, I'd advise you to be cautious. He has a key to get inside, what's to stop him from attacking you again?"

"I don't know." You felt too exhausted to think about the Chris problem.

"Is he who you were hiding from? The phone caller?"

"No I was just about to go to bed when I got a phone call."

"What did they say?"

"'I know who you are.'" You took a shaky breath. "I tried to ask the caller questions, but he just repeated that, grew angrier and angrier, and hung up."

"What did he sound like? Was his voice familiar to you?"

"I didn't recognize the voice, but it was pitched down and nasally. Sort of like the killer in Scream?"

"Give me your phone."

"It needs to charge, it's dead."

"Alright, I'll give the number to Garcia to track, tomorrow. I'm sure she's not awake at this hour." Spencer rubbed at his tired eyes.

"Okay, thank you." You got up to charge your phone in the nearby wall plug. "Oh and Spence?" "Yeah?" He turned around. "Thank you for coming by so late. I hope I didn't take you away from uh you know- some- potential action tonight." You smiled, awkwardly laughing. You didn't like it, but you wanted him to not feel guilty for having fun for one night.

"Don't ever hesitate to call me, especially when you're in a situation like this." Spencer narrowed his eyes. "Action?" He frowned.

"I don't know. I heard some girls with you and Morgan, they seemed into you. I thought that's where you were tonight. That's why I hesitated to call again." You shrugged. Spencer scrunched his nose. "I-I didn't."

You raised your eyebrow, looking Spencer in the eyes, then rolled your eyes, biting your lip to hold back a smile. Your jealousy turned into admiration.

"Do you want to watch that documentary about mantis shrimps? I can't sleep after all of this."

Spencer's face lit up as he nodded and followed you downstairs.
