It feels so good to finally get a fic going again that was stalled for years. Suddenly, after years of drought, the floodgates open and the right words and plot twists come pouring out.

I have written three chapters of The Night of the Magician this week and will soon post a fourth. I took things in a different angle than I'd planned on years ago, but that was because I had to accept what I'd known all along, that the original outline in my blurb made no sense. I do not think Count Manzeppi would deliberately go to extreme lengths to antagonize one of his enemies just when he finally achieved what he wanted. Plus, there wouldn't have been time to do all that plan would entail. I struggled for several days on how to fix the problem with the new angle taken, but I have it now!

Also, it's fun having Malcolm show up to annoy Coley. I must have 5Ds in there somewhere. ;)

Gx probably doesn’t make sense. It’s just the eye color Jaden’s eyes turn when he’s using Yubel’s abilities and the other colors are basically Supreme King Jaden. Well kinda lol.

I love the comments on this video about how card game-focused Yu-Gi-Oh’s worldbuilding became over time.

“Kaiba didn't just change an entire city's way of doing things, or even the entire world for that matter. He literally changed how villains try to conquer the world. He's so influential that villains are still playing his game.”

The rules of Duel Monsters sit above the police in terms of hierarchy, since if they could hack Duel Runners to force a duel, they could probably just shut down your bike remotely. I like to imagine Kaiba is sitting on his capitalist throne saying "If a criminal can beat you in a duel, then what authority do you have to catch them", and just forces the police to adapt to his survival-of-the-duelist world that he made.“
