Months she worked with Siyeon. She thought just maybe Siyeon had been non-verbal until she heard small whispers from her as she played. She had no idea what she was saying because it was so quiet, almost terrifying in a way. But, she spoke, and it was enough to keep Minji going. 

“Do you want to play with Gahyeonie?” Minji suggested when she had learned that the two were little at the same time. Siyeon immediately shook her head, not wanting to leave the safety of her bed for the day. “Okay, we don’t have to.” She whispered. 

Every time Siyeon was small, it was a battle for her attention. Sometimes she would sit on the floor and stare off into space, almost as if she was trapped in her own mind until Minji would release her from it. 

“Look.” Minji pointed to her own face, watching as Siyeon slowly looked at her. “Good.” She smiled. “Are you hungry?” She asked quietly, hoping to get more out of her. When she was met with a blank stare, she really didn’t know what to do. “Do you want…” Minji tried to think of things. She knew Siyeon had already been taken to potty, she had slept well and she was clean, really the only thing left was eating. “Rice?” She suggested. Again another blank stare. 

She heard Siyeon’s stomach grumble, and knew she was hungry, but the little was a little picky when it came to food. 

“Singnie, you’re making this a little hard.” Minji sighed. She heard a knock on the door, causing Siyeon to jump at the noice. “It’s okay. It’s okay.” She whispered. 

Yubin had walked in quietly, apple in hand as she walked over to the closet. She muttered a quiet apology, knowing that Siyeon was very, very different from Gahyeon when she was small. 

Siyeon’s eyes landed on the fruit, eyeing it before pointing at it. 

“What?” Minji frowned. “Yubin?” She whispered. Siyeon pouted, pointing again at the apple. “Apple? You want an apple?” She asked. Siyeon turned her attention to Minji, nodding her head quickly. 

It warmed her heart to see Siyeon responding that way. Even if she wasn’t speaking, it was something. 

After that, Minji had made it a point to learn basic sign language, and had taught it to Siyeon just so she had something to go off of. Something to fall back on if Siyeon was having a really bad day. She also learned that Siyeon would listen to everything she said as long as she fed her fruit. Which also happened to work with Gahyeon as well. 

“Open.” Minji instructed Siyeon as she fed her little orange slices. As soon as she said that, Gahyeon was right on her other side, waiting for her turn after Siyeon. 

“Peas.” Gahyeon whispered, learning she had to be quiet around Siyeon when she was little with her. 

“Here.” Minji chuckled before feeding her an orange slice as well. She watched her run off with food in her mouth, giggling as she went back to her quiet activity. “Happy?” Minji asked her as she signed for the little. She watched as a small smile formed on Siyeon’s face, nodding shyly as she chewed her orange slice. 

Gahyeon was a handful. From the day she had first regressed, Bora had thought she had been so quiet. Boy, was she wrong. Gahyeon had so much energy it put the energizer bunny out of business. 

“Please let go.” Yoohyeon frowned as she held Gahyeon on her hip. “Unnie, make her let go!” Gahyeon had a fistfull of Yoohyeon’s hair, and since she was settled on the taller girl’s hip, she couldn’t really get her to stop. 

“Gahyeonie…” Bora held up the stuffed fox to her, watching her eyes light up and immediately let go of Yoohyeon’s hair. She made grabby hands for the stuffed fox, which Bora easily complied with handing to her. “Boom. Done.” She smirked. 

“Why does she like pulling hair?” Yoohyeon sighed as she carried her into the living room. 

“She just likes grabbing things.” Bora sighed. 

Gahyeon was incredibly smart and usually regressed to somewhere near two or three. Bora would run flashcards with her for animals, food, letters, anything just to keep her still for five minutes before running off and getting into trouble. 

Yoohyeon would help out when she could, trying to get her energy levels down enough for a nap. But the only person who could ever get her down for a nap was Handong, or as Gahyeon called her, Dongie.  

“Is it nap time yet?” Yoohyeon sighed. 

“Dong isn’t back yet.” Bora frowned. “Once she is back, it will be nap time.” She sighed as she watched Gahyeon violently color a blank paper on the table. 

It was another hour of trying to tire Gahyeon out for Dong. Yoohyeon let her run circles around the table, giggling to herself until Bora stopped her, afraid she was going to fall on the tile floor. Then it was playing games with Minji, then playing more games with Siyeon, only for Siyeon to get hurt from Gahyeon’s hair pulling. 

“Okay, take her. I’m done.” Siyeon frowned as she handed over the little to Bora. 

“You had her for ten minutes!” Bora called out. 

“She yanked my hair!” Siyeon shouted back. 

“What did I say about pulling hair?” Bora scolded gently, only to earn an adorable giggle from the little. “You’re very lucky you’re cute.” She chuckled. 

When Dong had walked in, Gahyeon had immediately ran to her, babbling about her day with words scattered all over the place. Dong gave her a small smile, nodding along as if she was really listening while she set her things down. 

“How long has she been little?” Dong asked. 

“Since she woke up.” Yoohyeon answered. 

“She needs a nap..” Bora whispered. 

And just like that, Dong took over from there. She carried Gahyeon into their shared room and placed her on the bed, explaining to her that she needed to nap before she got cranky. Gahyeon of course fought it, but eventually caved. 

“Sleepy?” Dong chuckled as she laid next to the little. 

“No.” Gahyeon mumbled before yawning. “You seepy.” She mumbled again. 

“I’ll nap too.” The older smiled. She pretended to sleep next to her, peeking every few minutes until she knew Gahyeon was passed out. She couldn’t help but smile, moving a few pieces of hair from the little’s face as she slept. “You’re a handful.” She chuckled. “But you’re our handful.” She whispered.

Siyeon had hidden it deep down. She had a feeling it was wrong, but she let herself slip at times. She would be clingy to Minji and quiet, but no one batted an eye. Thinking she was just being cute for the cameras. 

The first to notice was Yubin. Siyeon had stayed in her bed all day, which to everyone just passed as her wanting to relax. Until Yubin found her sniffling in her bed. She was the only one in the dorm with her, and decided to try and approach her. 

“Siyeon unnie?” Yubin whispered, reaching out to touch her back. When she made contact, Siyeon let out a loud cry, flinching at the touch and trying to get away from her. Yubin thought it would be better to leave her be, just in case she was just having a bad day. She did text Minji to hurry back, not wanting to be the reason why Siyeon didn’t get any kind of help. 

When Minji had gotten in, she hurried to check on Siyeon. Everyone was out of their room, allowing the eldest to have her time with the younger. 

“Siyeon-ah… What’s wrong?” Minji whispered as she knelt down next to the bed. 

Siyeon heard the calm voice, one that felt so, so safe. She turned to look at the older girl, tears still spilling her eyes as she looked at her. 

The look on her face was full of fear, and it scared Minji. So she did her best to help her not be so scared, coaxing her by letting the girl hold her finger and talked to her quietly. It had been another hour before she had fallen asleep, her grip loosening before she was able to slip away. 

When she walked out of the room, she walked out to see Gahyeon jumping on the couch, holding Yoohyeon’s hands. 

“Where’s Bora?” She asked. 

“Bathroom. She left me in charge of Gahyeonie.” Yoohyeon answered. 

Minji walked down the hall again, knocking on the door. 

“I ask for two minutes of privacy Gahyeon-ah!” She shouted. 

“It’s me.” Minji chuckled. 

“Oh.” It was another five minutes before Bora walked out, giving Minji a questioning look. “What’s up?” She asked. 

“What does Gahyeon do again?” She whispered. “LIke right now.” She pointed. 

“Oh, she regresses. Why?” Bora asked. 

“I think Siyeon might… Do that too.” Minji started. She explained everything to Bora, how she was different and how she had acted with her. Bora listened and nodded along, all until Gahyeon came running down the hall and tackled her in a hug as she giggled. 

“Gahyeonie, how about you find Dongie with Yoohyeon unnie?” She suggested. 

“Okie!” Gahyeon giggled before toddling off with Yoohyeon. 

“Should we talk to her?” Minji frowned. “I don’t know what to do.” She whispered. 

“When she’s big again. Talk to her about it. Gently. That’s how I learned with Gahyeon.” Bora whispered. “Just don’t force anything out of her okay? If she’s like this now, god only knows what she’s holding in when she’s big.”

It was a matter of days before Minji had even begun to bring the conversation up to Siyeon. Once she did, Siyeon had looked embarrassed. Her cheeks were red and she refused to even look at her leader for a few hours. But what Minji had asked her was correct. She did regress, but she had never been caught until then. 

“So you just get small?” Minji asked her. 

“I do.” Siyeon whispered. 

“Do you want the others to know?” Minji asked her, knowing how much Siyeon valued her privacy.

“I feel like they should know… That way… They don’t think I-I’m…” Siyeon shook her head, refusing to look at the older girl now. 

“Hey… You see how Gahyeon is. We aren’t going to think any kind of horrible thing just because of this.” Minji whispered as she pulled her into a tight embrace. “I promise to take care of you. And when you’re small, I’ll let the girls know to leave you alone okay?” She smiled. Siyeon nodded her head, allowing the older girl to wipe the tears from her eyes. “I can’t promise that I’ll be the best, but I will promise to try.” She whispered. 

“Thank you.” Siyeon smiled.
