tsc thoughts while reading (beware of spoilers) starting with -
david wymack my fucking beloved
also i never rlly liked/cared for thea but her scene with jean and her nickname for him was cute
chapter 3 thoughts:
jeremy being in awe of neil and the foxes is giving me life
fanfics with alvarez in them gonna go crazy now that we actually have a first name for her (and don’t have to invent one)
oh they rich rich (in reference to jeremy’s family butler?!)
jerejean first interaction!!!!
chapter 4:
omg sunshine court mentioned
having the sudden realisation that i can never read fanfics that have jean’s perspective or anything about the how the ravens work, raven!neil/aftermath of the kings men in the same way again
my neighbours are having a party and while i’m loving the music and absolutely jealous i’m not there, it’s really distracting me from reading
ngl i rlly miss neil and andrew and the foxes please let me see my family soon
‘ what you hold onto is less important than the act of holding on itself’ nora sakavic shut the fuck up you philosophical genius i’m gonna cry this is so real to me
renee i love u
WIT WTF JEAN IS NINETEEN I DIDNT KNOW THAT OH MY GOD BABY HE JOINED THE RAVEN LINEUP AT SIXTEEN WTF
i’m drinking red wine while reading and i think that’s appropriate… also i’m listening to that jean moreau playlist someone made and it’s mega depressing https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5zlPt63Ap0AjJQ1Ff5OKrd?si=75oEzLE8SO-bfJwewM8Evw&pi=a-ge04jIlVTJGY
this is so funny to only me but i’ve been hyperfixating on one direction again and zayn just dropped new music so everytime i read about jean’s raven roomate zane i think of one direction and confused myself a bit about what fandom i’m reading rn
fuck riko u sick fucking fuck u put jean into a box with a singular hole for air and left him to die u fucking cunt
KEVIN ASKING JEAN TO PROMISE NOT TO KILL HIMSELF AFTER NORA WROTE COUNTLESS DRAFTS IN WHICH JEAN KILLED HIMSELF WHILE ON THE PHONE TO KEVIN AND THE ONLY TIME SHE DIDNT KILL JEAN OFF IS THE VERSION SHE PUBLISHED AND THE REASON WE GET TO HEAR HIS STORY TODAY IM SO BROKEN
jean’s ‘gift’ from the ravens with his broken magnets, blacked out postcards and angry letters is making me cry he deserves so much better
slowly realising that this book is gonna be super triggering lol whoops
a cool evening breeze 🥲
THAT CREEPY LITTLE GOALKEEPER IS MY FAVOURITE GUY OK
‘kevin saw nothingn but the court, but jean had stopped hoping for more than that years ago’ shut the fuckkkk uppppp i cant do this anymore kevin/jean relationship is so deeply important to me (i say this about everything)
chapter 5:
SECOND NEIL/ JEAN INTERACTION OF THE BOOK IM SO FUCKING EXCITED
‘of course it’d be you, you tedious malcontent’ ‘good morning to you too’ is so ‘morning sunshine’ ‘fuck you’ coded (neil and matt bromance confirmed)
the amount of mitski on this jean playlist is making me sick
FUCKING SCREAMING OMFG THIS IS THE JEAN/NEIL CONTENT I YEARN FOR
Tumblr media
‘abominable cockroach’ aww jean u say the sweetest things 🥰❤️ neil loves u too babe
literally devouring every last scrap of information jean feeds us about neil - his slow, hungry, hateful smile and the madness in his eyes (neil baby i love u never change)
oh jean don’t diss aaron, do u know how many fanfics have been written about u two
tsc is confirmation that jean moreau will come into ur house and judge u based on the contents of ur fridge (and then throw out ur stash of lollies)
‘to have a real match as a palate cleanser’ jean is really trying to win my favour by borrowing neil’s sassiness huh (no wonder i love them so much together) ((and yes i know he’s BEEN sassy ok))
jean reaching for the tv screen as if he could save neil and describing andrew running for neil as if hell was on his heels is making me absolutely giddy idk whether to scream or cry i’m doing both and i’m giggling
I bet on losing dogs is so jean moreau coded omg
holy fuck nora, the moments after the raven/fox match when riko tries to kill neil is fucking amazingly written. reading from jean’s perspective as he watches the game on tv, the tension, the breathless anxiety and confusion of the scene is palpable i coukd fucking taste it, my chest is tight just reading it
JEAN SAYING ANDREW WILL BE COURT IS IMMACULATE

why is evermore (the song) by tsc so Jean coded
I meant ts it autocorrected 😭😭
ill be honest with you anon, evermore has always been a skip for me and i can barely understand what she's trying to say with this song, much less analyze it in the context of a character BUT let's give this a shot.
in no particular order, just whichever lyrics struck me first
Hey, December Guess I'm feeling unmoored
oh yes jean is 100% unmoored after eau. also the 'guess' can be taken as jean trying to identify emotions from the jumbled mess that the nest has him feeling post-tkm
Can't remember What I used to fight for
this doesn't even need an explanation, 'My name is Jean Moreau. My place is at Evermore. I belong to the Moriyamas.' is all we need, he has completely given up hope and has accepted that he was destined to face this pain
I rewind thе tape, but all it does is pause On thе very moment all was lost
this could be interpreted as jean trying to think of his time before the nest, back at marseille. the first scene where jean tries to remember elodie, he cannot go through with it purely because his memories are tainted with his parents' abuse and him being sold to the moriyamas. so the tape pauses on the moment all was lost.
Sending signals To be double-crossed
i cannot not think of kevjean in this. jean sending signals that he would do anything for kevin, and kevin nailing their coffins by using french in front of riko (i.e., double crossing him)
Writing letters Addressed to the fire
OKAY THIS it could symbolise holding on to something, knowing it is futile since it isn't there anymore, so riko, castle evermore, hell even marseille (i say marseille because there's a lot of 'burning the house down' talk regarding jean's family)
And I was catchin' my breath Starin' out an open window, catchin' my death And I couldn't be sure I had a feeling so peculiar That this pain would be for Evermore
THIS SCREAMS THE SCENES IN TSC WHERE HE'S STARING OUT THE BAY WINDOW MELANCHOLICALLY
And when I was shipwrecked  I thought of you In the cracks of light  I dreamed of you
mmm jeanee definitely. like he texted her in his last moments (at that time at least he thought those were his last) and 'in the cracks of light' (renee was described as the first bright thing to have caught jean's eyes) so yeah she definitely was a crack of light in jean's daily doom and gloom
okay yeah that's all i could think of, i'd love to know your thoughts on it too anon!

Dark!Red Au
Because yes
I havent actually thought and even writed about it but im having ideas, in this au AvA and AvM exist in one universe so Red has experience of being possesed three times
So in the au TDL somehow survived TSC in AvA5 and also somehow left bits of his own code in the colorgang when we deleted them slash eliminated them, bits of code that gave him access to the color gang files finding a way of entering Reds body in the process
So he started using Red as his avatar to interact with the color gang and others, but and Red? He was there, all the time, he felt like Yellow in the Lucky blocks episode, something like that, me thinks spectating what TDL was doing with his body
After a not long while TDL wanted to go back to his own body but... he didnt how to leave Red's first, and he started to freak out because he didnt want to be trapped in someone elses, so real
Then he told the color gang that he wasnt Red and that he was actually TDL that got trapped in Red's body and then they tied him to a chair because we know what happens when Red is not Red!! And they belived that TDL died but his soul got somehow in Red body because similar colors
Thats all sillies, I'll might write or draw about the Au more, cause I love this theory about TDL comeback by possesing Red (We know what you are Alan) /lhj

i'm sorry are those michael herondale and robert as in jace's dad and alec's dad. what on earth is going on in the shadowhunters world
michael wayland and robert lightwood! yes michael was thought to be jace's dad at the start of tmi, which is why the lightwoods took jace in. he's not actually related to michael though, jace is stephen herondale's biological son.
robert & michael's story is basically that they were parabatai, and michael fell in love with robert, except robert was straight and had a bunch of other things going on which led him to reject michael in a very homophobic way 💔💔💔 and anyway eventually robert married maryse who he never really loved and then cheated on her a bunch but not even because he's gay or anything, just because he's a dick. then michael died and like i said robert (& maryse) then adopted jace out of homophobic guilt and then his eldest son turned out gay and then, after a whole gay acceptance arc, he forced said gay son to name his child after michael so i do think that michael won in the end. also robert divorced maryse who is now implied to have a hot boyfriend with whom she babysits the guiltily-named baby. this is what happens when you are a homophobic cheater in the tsc universe I fear
(also there was a particularly insane scene included in the graphic novel where everyone sees the person they love most in the world, and robert sees michael, even though at that point they had not seen each other for i think a decade. theyre so silversprings.mp3 coded)

ALRIGHTY here we are at weeks three and four for the santa clauses series! I did not rewatch a second time because genuinely, these melted my brain. anyway, lets get into it below the cut!
So apparently according to the tsc tag, episode 3 that I missed last week is a sort of filler episode? OH BROTHER REALLY
Normally I would not complain bc I miss old format, 20-23 episode series but because I know this Isn't That? DREAD. how are you going to plot well and good in 7-8eps if some are filler? that is just SO condensed, my guy
Counterpoint to people who were sad about it but: I thought the teen romance was annoying and I'm GLAD they ended it even JUST for a bit (it will come back to haunt again, trust. It’s a disney series ffs.) Whoever is writing this needs to ask a teen about how they talk nowadays. This is not it.
I also think we're driving the whole "Buddy is terrible at everything" punchline WAY past its breaking point. Which I would argue was last season entirely, but. At the very latest, last episode with how heavy on cringe it was. Yes, EVEN for kids/teens.
Again, they are not antagonizing Magnus Antas enough for me to hate him. waaaaay too funny to be a villain. I can't take him seriously and DON'T want to
The way that Noel keeps sideyeing the Betty cutout as if to say "do you see this shit?" during his brunch with the Clauses SENT me tbh. That's bernelle coded and I love it
I do not know why Disney gets OFF on the Clauses being absolutely inept parents but I wish they would stop
SHOUTOUT JUDY OMG JUDY'S ACTRESS THAT’S JUDY JUDY IS HERE YOU GUYS (SCREAMINGGGG)
LOVING the exterior shots of the workshop and Elfsburg. As someone who has POURED over all available screenshots from the movies of those I am LIVING for new angles (even though I do NOT think bernelle would live that close to the Workshop, but it doesn't seem like Betty and Noel can POOF like Bman and Elle can (and do))
I don't know why there are TWO instances of a "misspoken turn of phrase" in this episode but neither were funny and TWO OF THEM was REALLY bad
CHUBBY BUNNY DID NOT EXIST THAT LONG AGO. NOT IN MAGNUS ANTAS' TIME. THAT WAS AN INTERNET FAD LESS THAN TEN YEARS AGO. WHAT ARE WE DOING DUDE. WHAT ARE THESE WRITERS ON (it's not good, I don't want some)
Crossing guard callback? For what? (okay, shrug I GUESS dot meme)
Why does this specific franchise always have to make EB SO WEIRD. WHY. Nothing about this is funny it's just off-putting. Just like the previous EB flirting with Carol's MARRIED MOM in tsc3
This Carol and La Befana scene was actually very good. LOVE it when they actually just let the characters be HONEST with each other. Women supporting women core. Even if Carol's reason for being mad at her was really shallow and obviously stems form Carol's lack of identity as Mrs. Claus because they just cannot wrap that plot point from last season up.
THE LETTERS DEPARTMENT. It looks dope but HATE the explanation for it. Half assed as hell. WARNING! Rant incoming: like from what I know a LOT of postal services have little lore stories about how they get the letters to Santa. WHY COULDNT WE JUST SAY THERE ARE AGREEMENTS BETWEEN SANTA AND OTHER ADULT PEOPLE WHO KEEP THE SPIRIT ALIVE FOR OTHERS AS WELL? Why is this series so obsessed with making everything only powered by magic and never by others (yes, humans) who want to keep the spirit alive as well? It feels like magic is being used as an "explain it all away" crutch narratively. Even in season 1, the "solution" to mass consumerism wasn't for people to be kind to each other and do little things to keep the magical parts of Christmas alive, it was to show the world that magic was real. Season 2 so far, the answer to everything is also just magic. I'm hoping that maybe the B plot with Kris will touch on this. Because as it stands right now, it feels like the writers are talking out of both sides of their mouth. Commercial Christmas is bad, but Kris is a loser for having a Santa theme park. Like?? Homogenization of Christmas is the Big Bad at large, but also up at the Pole they are trying to find ways to do the same thing to be "current". CHRISTMAS IS MULTIFACTED. It is both secular and religious! That is OKAY, I don't even think "woke" people are arguing about that. Sheesh.
Can't believe I'm micro rambling IN my ramble post. New achievement unlocked omg
The way Magnus Antas picks up on modern slang so quickly practically puts Scott to shame. Good for him
AGAIN, the misturn of phrase jokes. DEAD. Not funny. STOP
If they are going to make Sandra so op that she can just Wanda Maximoff chaos magic "I just say something when I'm mad and it happens, anything I want with no negative impact on me" I will not find that swag. That is in fact Mary Sue territory, lads
Sandra's little outburst @ La Befana was giving magical nepo baby for a moment there. Oof. "Too bad I'm just naturally more skilled than you even though I'm new and you've been a witch forever" girl SHUT. UP. You are like a little baby. Also that is so mad disrespectful like no WONDER La Befana is wanting you to slow tf down. You fly off the handle WAY to easily and we ALL know you lose control when you do! Okay loose cannon! Werk!
Riley. Girl. "we never see each other" you were just up at the Pole?? Like. OFTEN?? This is so stupid of a breakup but they are teenagers so go off kids, be dysfunctional or what have you. Rah rah, as Jack would say
Episode four now, lord help us. God has cursed me for my (loving this one Christmas movie series) hubris and my work (watching it's hellish series spin off) is never finished
"Reversing a transformation is never a guarantee" what is this La Befana? the Sims? Sounds like transformation ray odds. Magic is not THAT unpredictable, even by in-universe logic
CURTIS-ITIS!??? CURTIS FUCKING EXPLODED??
ARE YOU SO FUCKING FR RN. SO BERNARD IS MARRIED TO A SENIOR CITIZEN AND CURTIS. FUCKIN VAPORIZED?? FROM STRESS? WHAT'S NEXT? Lemme guess, Judy joined the circus. Quintin is a crypto investor or works for Tesla. WHAT ARE WE D O I N G
Not Scott moving the scissors like he's afraid Buddy will shank him or others?? SIR
SANDMAN AHHHHHHHHHH HELLO SIR /POS :D
So they just con him? As though that's a long term solutio-- OH MY GOD NOT SCOTT USING SANDMAN'S SAND ON SANDMAN HIMSELF?? that's ILLEGALE?? According to tsc3 lore: "We legendaries can't use magic on each other?" I am so bewildered by the level of retcon occurring before my very eyes at BREAKNECK speed
Sandra doesn't need magic she needs THERAPY for her ANGER ISSUES bruh. Damn. She doesn't need a rage room (in someone's house too I might add? okayyyy) she needs to learn to process like a normal human being wtf
Scott being able to look like his normal self whenever he wants and they just didn't tell him? For like. 25 years? Like its clear that by the series standards, the elves think he's a total moron. But it pendulums hard and fast between "haha funny joke" and "damn they really think he ain't shit, huh"
Edie being a fashion diva is such a serve she's grown on me this season ngl
"I had to teach him how to do all the Legendaries jobs" Scott I know you're waffling, absolutely FUMBLING but what the FUCKKKKK is that excuse??? What's Cal going to do? Be EVERY Legendary? TERRIBLE AWFUL HATE IT UNINSPIRED. Not to mention, SOME OF THE OTHER LEGENDARIES MIGHT NOT TAKE THAT NEWS WELL. Some might even feel THREATENED
"The man I die for in my sleep every night" UM? Noel? You okay there bud? Holy heck
THE PURPLE JACKET IS SWAG AND SCOTT IS A HATER. HE CANNOT SEE THE VISION
Do you guys think according to this new lore Edie made Jack's suit? because me thinks PERHAPS
Magnus Antas is kind of popping off, damn. Like I think if the gnomes hadn’t given him MAJOR delusions of grandeur and an ego trip, he could have stayed totally a vibe. But stop giving the Santas snow powers and reconning Jack holy SHIT dude. First Scott now him? HATE IT
The way they made Scott and Cal look when "invisible" is Not a Good Look heck. Its like a bad picsart filter
These Scott visions. I get why, its through the Santa magic, right? But dang its corny
So Scott knows Magnus Antas is back now. Okay. They got away from him. Lost visual on Olga, have a bad feeling she somehow sneaked into the sleigh. Weird cliffhanger but EVERY episode has been like that so far
Final thoughts: I feel like they're definitely trying to make this season take itself less seriously, but I feel like the trade off is that the writers are taking too many liberties for diversions from source material and are therefore, losing the plot entirely and retconning movie lore at will and convenience. Tl;dr, it's messy. Concepts are fun until things just become so irreverent they fall apart or lean into entirely unfunny territory. Which is just a hallmark of T*m All*n brand humor, tee em, but you know.
It feels like this series is doing everything and nothing. It wants woke points, but immediately doubles back and makes fun of those same things. It wants us to feel empathy for these characters, and immediately makes them insufferable. I am so confused as to what the takeaway is supposed to be. It all feels so poorly executed--the series retcons itself constantly, not to mention the movies. I want it to be fun, and to take it at surface value, but if you know literally anything about the movies, that becomes a challenge to do. I'm just so confused dude.
I will be shocked if this gets a third season. Truly.
Also, I miss Betty too, Noel. Wish this whole season was about HER shenanigans, instead.
So. See you all next week then?

notes on Over Hill and Under Hill
"Have you thoroughly explored it?" said the wizard, who knew that caves up in the mountains were seldom unoccupied. "Yes, yes!" they said, though everybody knew they could not have been long about it; they had come back too quick. "It isn't all that big, and it does not go far back." — The Hobbit, Chapter 4.
Fili and Kili, *tsc*. On their defense, your honor, how could they know it would have a goblin passage on it? They are just babies. Look at them. Can you really blame them?
Gandalf remains iconic. It's not enough for him to be rude and not share what he knows, but he will also say that everyone is going to die because they lost their horses, their food, they don't know where to go and yet he will tell them to continue on their way. Literally me.
And this whole chapter had Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) vibes. The way he just say "oh, they never used all this stuff again", or "and the horses? don't talk to me about the horses" is just given the "nothing bad will happen to the kids here. Monty will die tho."
I still think it is such a great deal that hobbits are stealth beings. Like the last thing you would imagine about them is that they would be stealth. That's literally not a word you expect to her. And still...
I talked a little about curved swords while reading (just click on "chapter 4"). I always find it very interesting to observe the correlations that exist in fictional worlds and what they are trying to communicate. We all know about queer coded villains, but the next time you watch a movie ask yourself: does this villain wear eye makeup, have a more yellowish filter, use curved weapons? If the answer is yes, then perhaps it is arab coded. I'm just saying.

love it, also love to see you will at least treat a bit the effect the loss of the other two impacted her by losing her parents too, would this develop more in the fic on the trauma it left behind? I think Cecily had a very bad childhood that could have led her to have some serious daddy issues, kinda like Cassie from Euphoria, I dont know if you have seen the show but the scene where lil Cassie sees her dad, is so Cecily coded. Its a flashback so no spoiler, basically the dad after some nights away doing who knows what, appears at the door asking Cassie for money, and she spots the needle marks in his arm while doing so, and his red eyes from alcohol
I'm glad you love it! Yes, the trauma will be more in focus, unlike the books where it was incredibly overlooked.
I watched the first season of Euphoria ages ago, but I agree, Cecily would have those kind of issues if actions actually had consequences in TSC.

February 27: love
I love writing platonic relationships if you couldn't tell before 🤩
//
When Thomas had arrived, the Fairchilds’ laboratory was surprisingly quiet.
But of course, silence never lasted long with his cousins in there.
Boom. He sighed; it sounded less bad than the previous explosions, at least. Thomas heard Lucie giggle as he got into the room filled with equipment most people couldn’t begin to understand. Christopher’s face was covered in ashes, but Lucie seemed too busy laughing to hand him a towel.
“Good to know you two started destroying things without my supervision.” Thomas leaned against the door, making himself present. Christopher looked up startled and Lucie offered him a seat next to her.
“We’re sorry, Tom, we’ll wait for you before we try to explode someone’s house next time.”
Thomas huffed light-heartedly before walking towards his cousins. “Thank you, Luce, how considerate of you.” He messed Christopher’s hair and passed him a towel to clean his face, but he waved him off.
“I’ll never be a real scientist if I’m not willing to explode my face.”
“I don’t think that is how science works, Kit.” Lucie said, writing something down. “Oh, yes! Now that Thomas is here, you two can help me.”
Thomas waited for her to continue. She clicked her tongue a couple times and hit her writing machine with her fountain pen before remembering she was supposed to explain what she meant. “I’m adding a new romantic storyline in The Beautiful Cordelia, and I need advice in writing about two people falling in love.”
“Why– why do you assume I’d be able to help?” Thomas cleared his throat and looked away. “Ask Christopher, he was the one who enchanted a demon.”
“Kit?” Lucie called, not before giving Thomas a questioning look.
Christopher seemed confused for a moment before his face lit up. “I love lemon tarts! Does that count as falling?”
“If you really love them, then why not?” She smiled at her cousin before turning back to Thomas. “But I need more on-point advice. Please, Tommy?”
“I’m–” he swallowed. “Sure. What do you want to know?” Then, as a second thought, he added: “I can’t promise accuracy.”
Lucie clapped. “Wonderful! You’ve been to Paris, haven’t you?”
             Thomas grunted. “I have.”
“The city of love. One of my characters spent part of his life in France, and- you look nervous, Thomas. Do you need some air?”
“I need you to change the subject” Thomas stared at Christopher’s hands while he poured a red liquid into an empty test tube. His cousin seemed distracted from their conversation, devoting his attention to something that was likely going to explode. One less person to notice how hard Thomas was blushing.
“Oh.” Lucie’s blue eyes were wide open. “Oh.”
              “Not oh.”
His protest didn’t stop Lucie’s face from lighting up. “I’m just wondering if you met someone there.” Curse her mischievous smile, Thomas thought. But there wasn’t getting away from Lucie’s questions now. “A beautiful lady, or perhaps a handsome gentleman?”
“There is no one,” Thomas muttered, but his mind kept reminding him of his beautiful dark eyes, and he wondered what his genuine laugh would sound like… He cleared his throat and repeated: “There is no one.”
Lucie opened her mouth to say something else, but Thomas interrupted her. “What about you, Luce? You’ve been with your head in the clouds since the Carstairs’ arrival. I wonder why that would be.”
“So have you!” Thomas had to admit he had dug his own grave, but that wouldn’t stop him from blushing. “Is there something else we need to discuss, Tommy?”
They blinked at each other, their faces red, before awkwardly looking away. “This is- a dangerous territory,” Thomas mumbled.
                  “Agreed.”
“Do you know what is not a dangerous territory?” Christopher raised his head from his experiment, most likely clueless of the context. He raised his test tube filled with a bubbling liquid. “Turning things purple!” Then he gasped, turning his amazed expression to look at his cousins. “Turning lemon tarts purple.”
Thomas laughed, both from relief at the interruption and from affection for his family. He took the tube test out of his cousin’s hand:
“I’d prefer it if we ate the lemon tarts first. Then we can try to explode uncle Henry’s laboratory again.”
“Sounds like a plan!” Lucie got up and took the ashes out of her skirt. Christopher followed her without bothering to clean his face.
Thomas sighed, not for the first or last time that day. He really, really loved his family.

Fandom racism anon here and yeah absolutely (I didn't realise I had anon on lol)
Because while LOTR has problems within its themes (ie the orcs can be seen as to be coded as people of colour, especially since they ride elephants) the explicit message of the book is evil bad
Because the only people who work for sauron are evil. There are no morally grey people, they aren't misguided or tricked they just are evil and want to take over the world
And yeah I totally agree that this is more of a literal take on like empirical war (is that the word) and that makes total sense considering Tolkiens history
Whereas I would say that the allegories in shaowhunters is way more based on racial conflict within a country itself especially slavery, I can't remember if this is show Canon but is it that they have the warlock tropheys? I remember that in the books magnus talks about shadowhunters hanging warlock marks on their walls? (sorry to bring the books up)
Idk it's very hollow to me, unlike with LOTR though it's a different allegory it's totally irritating to show many of these supremecists as morally misled. LOTR says bad guys are bad guys, shadowhunters says well yeah they did follow a guy which thinks that downworlders are subhuman and should be eradicated but they just made a mistake
I want to compare this to tfatws which while it isn't really fantasy I just feel like it shows how the priorities of the writer can impact the message of the show so powerfully (I know u aren't up to date so I'm gonna be pretty vague)
There's a scene in tfatws where the new white perfect captain America does something bad and doesn't pay for the consequences - done to comment on white privelege and how America condones white supremacy and how Sam is in comparison to that
Mayrse and Robert revealed to be part of the circle! And paid no consequences Shock horror my parents were the bad guys (even rho they were either implicitly or explicitly extremely racist the entire time) also I haven't finished the seires but do the lightwoods ever try to get their parents to face the consequences?)
Only one actual really critiques the situation and the reality behind it whereas the other one is just to centre the white characters once again and present them in a further sympathetic light
AND ANOTHER THING! I was mostly talking about show Canon here and I'm sorry to bring up the books but I literally can't believe I hadn't picked up in this before.
So like downworlders = people of colour, Simon is a vampire so is coded as a person of colour. However in the books in the last one he stops being a vampire and becomes a shadowhunters instead, coincidentally that's also when he starts dating Izzy HOW IS THIS ABLE TO HAPPEN!!????
I mean I know cassandra clare is lazy right? The original seires is by far the worst of all her writings but come ON!!!!! By the allegory has he become the white man!????? These books made no fuckin sense when I read them at 15 and they make no sense now I'm digressing anyways
I don't know man I wrote this ask because I was trying to find some fantasy book recommendations on booktube and SO MANY of them were about slavery or general ly extrême préjudice with à White protagonist to save this 'poor souls'.
Also I was watching guardians of the galexy the other day and realised nearly every movie set in space is just bigger stakes imperialism - planets instead of countries. Literally star wars, star trek, guardians of the galexy 2, avengers infinity war - all are facing genocidal imperialistic villains without actually paying much, if any attention to those effected
Just writing this ask made me exhausted I'm so tired of lazy writing and exploiting other people's struggle. I'm white and I'm trying to be more critical about the movies, shows and books I watch and read but let me know if I said something off here❤️❤️ you gotta get up to date with tfatws man, Sambucky nation is THRIVING!!!!
i'm not sure i agree that the whole "the evil people are evil" thing is a good thing, because i feel like more often than not making the bad characters just like... unidimensionally evil just means that the reader will be like "lol i could NEVER be that guy" and when it comes to racism that is a dangerous road to take because white people already believe that racism is something that Only The Most Evil People, Ergo, Not Me, Can Do, which makes discussions of stuff like subconscious racial bias and active antiracist work become more difficult because people don't believe they CAN be racist unless they're like, Lord Voldemort
which is not to say that racism should be treated as morally ambiguous, just that the workings of racism should be represented as something that is not done only by the Most Hardcore And Evil, but rather as a part of a system of oppression that affects the way everyone sees the world and interacts with it and lives in it
yes the warlock trophies are mentioned in the show, albeit very quickly (there is a circle member who tells magnus that his cat eyes will make "a nice addition to his collection" and then it's never mentioned again because this is sh and we love using racism for shock value but then not actually treating it as a serious plot point or something that affects oppressed ppl). and you are absolutely right, shadowhunters (and hp, and most fantasy books) has genocide as its core conflict and treats it, like you said, in a very hollow way, treating racism as both not a big deal and not something that is part of a system of oppression, but really the actions of a few Very Bad People. it's almost impressive how they manage to do both at the same time tbh
i think you hit the nail right on the head with this comment, actually. for most of these works, racism is SHOCK VALUE. it's just like "lol isn't it bad that this bad guy wants to kill a gazillion people just because they are muggles? now that is fucked up" but it's not actually an issue. in fact, when this guy is defeated, the whole problem is over! racism is not something that is embedded into that world, it's not a systemic issue, it's not even actually part of what drives the plot. the things that led to this person not only existing but rising to power and gathering enough followers to be a real threat to the whole world are never mentioned. it's like racists are born out of thin air, which is dangerously close to implying that racism is just a natural part of life, tbh
anyway my point is, it is never supposed to be questioned, it is never part of a deeper plot or story, its implications are barely addressed except for a few fleeting comments them and there; so, it's not a critique, it's shock value, even though it is frequently disguised as a critique (which is always empty and shallow anyway. like what is the REAL critique in works like hp or sh/tsc other than "genocide is bad"? wow such a groundbreaking take evelyn)
about simon and the book thing: i actually knew about this and the weird thing about this is that, like... simon is jewish, and he's implied to be ashkenazi (calls his grandma bubbe which is yiddish, which is a language spoken by the ashkenazi ppl), and it seems like cc is always toeing the line between him being accepted by shadowhunters and then not accepted by them, which sounds a lot like antisemitic tropes and history of swinging between (ashkenazi) jewish ppl being seen as the model minority myth and thus used as an example by white christians, and being hated and persecuted. i'm not super qualified to talk about this since i'm not jewish and i'm still learning about/unlearning antisemitism and its tropes, and i don't really have a fully formed thought on that, tbh; it just reminds me of the whole "model minority" swinging, where one second simon is part of the majority, the other he's not, but always he is supposed to give up a part of himself and his identity in other to be "assimilated" by shadowhunter culture. this article (link) covers a book on jewish people and assimilationism into USan culture, this article (link) covers british jews' relationship with being considered an ethnic group, and this article (link) talks a bit about the model minority myth from the perspective of an asian jewish woman
it just really calls to my attention that cc chose to make her ashkenazi jewish character start off as a downworlder and then become a shadowhunter. i don't think she made that decision as a conscious nod to this history, because it would require being informed on antisemitism lol but it's incredible how you can always see bigoted stereotypes shining through her narrative choices completely by accident. it just really shows how ingrained it is in our collective minds and culture
and anyway, making a character go from the oppressed group to just suddenly become the oppressor is just. wtf. not how oppression works, but most of all, really disrespectful, especially because she clearly treats it as an "upgrade"/"glowup" that earns him the Love Of His Life
also, out of curiosity, are you french? it seems like your autocorrect changed a few words and i'm pretty sure extrême and préjudice are the french versions of these words, and since u said ur white, that's where my money would be lol

Idk if you really do meta so no worries if not but I’ve been studying loads of Arab history recently and I keep thinking about the magisterium and how it would interact with other world religions. Like the Arab world and Islam must still exist, and be close by. In the secret commonwealth there is a little bit of this but not loads. Just wondering what your thoughts are?
Oh, yes I absolutely do meta! lmao That’s basically all I do in this fandom! Thank you for the ask, I’ve given this theme some thought before, but never wrote it down.
First, I just want to say that my understanding of Islam is not extensive at all - we do not have a big muslim community in Brasil, especially not in my city which is super small - and despite all my research, it’s not enough to go super in-depth in the nuances of it. So, if you or anyone wants to add to this post, please feel free and encouraged to do so. I’m gonna offer you simply a very broad cultural take on the Magisterium and how it reacts to most religions.
I’m fairly certain Islam exists in Lyra’s world, tho. It’s not openly said so, but there are many instances in TSC that suggests so; what we don’t know is to which extent it exists. There is a direct mention to a niqab and there is a mention of a woman in Smyrna also wearing a headscarf (probably a hijab, maybe? there’s not a lot to tell), and as far as my knowledge goes, these are Arabic cultural/religious items. So, we know at least this part of the culture is there.
Something to keep in mind about Lyra’s world is that it’s a full-on globe, much like ours; that seems dumb when I say it lol but my point is, it’s too big for the Magisterium to reign alone as the sole master of religion with Christianity. Even in our world, the Catholic Church struggled in endless crusades against several different religions, including their own infighting over different variations of Christianity, and despite their best efforts, many religions still exist - some of them small, yes, and damaged by their influence.
There are far too many different cultures in the entire world for a single religion to successfully overtake the entire population. Human beings are so ridiculous random that some of us don’t even partake in religion, so it’s hard to see Christianity as almighty. It is, however, in Lyra’s world, a lot more powerful (think the Mighty Age of the Church in the past, when they consorted with entire kingdoms and their kings and controlled most aspects of life) and therefore it creates this idea of ‘they are alone in their power’. They’re definitely not, the Witches alone prove that; they have their own religion and gods. So do the bears. Their fantasy vibes conceal their cultural variation, but they are part of the world regardless, some of the witches even being pro-Magisterium. Again, random people being random.
Aside from these cultural groups, the general human population has the atheists, which are a divergent religious opinion as well and obviously, the Magisterium tries to suppress them hard - as they offer a lot of resistance to the dogma by improving science. By being more politically involved, the Church succeeds in controlling scientific progress, but still encounters resistance everywhere, no matter how feeble it is (yay, Oakley Street!). And the gyptians with their own secret commonwealth associations also suffer censorship and persecution, so the same probably happened with most religions.
Islam is not a small religion, and it’s also very old in terms of how long its been known to exist, so for it to seem so watered down to a simple cultural lifestyle (at least from what we see in TSC, with the dress ‘code’, I’m not sure if that’s the exact term for the niqab use, sorry if it’s not)  probably means that the Magisterium succeeded in fighting its influence very strongly (probably the Crusades, I’m not super familiar with that subject either). That’s either before or after it became the Magisterium, since we can assume the Church was vaguely similar to our world’s version of it, up until John Calvin’s papacy and the Magisterium’s foundation. And because they succeeded, they managed to contain the strength of Islam and keep it mostly isolated from the Magisterium’s power region which is the entire Europe, pretty much. (we have little information on Africa, and we know next to nothing about the Americas and Oceania, so I assume the Church had different degrees of influence in these areas).
But as we move through the Levant in TSC, it’s possible to see how fragmented their influence seems to be depending on the country. They have the Patriarch’s group in Constantinople, but that is still very, very close to Europe, in a way (I mean it is Europe but also Asia, geography is not my strongest trait lmao). But as Lyra goes deeper and deeper, the less we see official ‘civilised’ Magisterium groups (like La Maison Juste or any types of priories or anything dogmatic) - we mostly see military forces spread thin (mostly and more likely CCD), which to me just seems like their way of trying to enforce the idea of their might to muslim people in the region. However, they don’t seem to have a strong hold on the region and the further you go to Asia, I believe you’d find a very widespread community of people who follow the Islam and not Christianity.
One thing though, is that I think that these major religions (according to wikipedia lol): Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism; they are all confined somewhat to specific areas instead of being spread like they are in our world. You wouldn’t find nowhere near as many muslins and buddhists in Central Europe, Western Europe as you would in the Middle East, for example. And this is because Lyra’s world is yet to suffer from a globalization process, (easier transport, communication system, culture assimilation) they are outdated, including the fact that the world seems to be set somewhere between end of Victorian period (late 1800s) up to the 50s, and according to estimates, the world population in 1950 was around 2.5 billion people as opposed to our 7 billion in 2020. So, it’s a lot less people, most of them very spread across the globe, these are all things to consider when thinking about how the Magisterium would handle these things.
China (The Celestial Empire of Cathay and Manchuria in Lyra’s world) is said to be a huuuuuuuuge empire, and they are also implied to be very lethargic politically, which means they probably isolated themselves keeping their own religion and culture very tightly away from the Magisterium. There is a passage about how it is believed the Emperor wouldn’t care much, because he was old and/or sick, if and when the Magisterium invaded the Karamakan desert,  which is a Chinese territory, with several different nationalities of armies. So there is a lot to consider, but I think this gives room for us to see that the Magisterium is not entirely as almighty as it seems or as it tries to look like it is. Its reach has flaws and it mostly seems to operate in Europe and Europe-close regions, such as Northern Africa and parts of Asia.
So, I do think other religions still exist in Lyra’s world - despite not many being mentioned at all - and smaller religions like Judaism and Sikhism, for example, were probably persecuted a lot more due to their status, but in general I don’t believe any of them were entirely erradicated, despite, of course, being oppressed by the Magisterium.

I think we can all agree that the Lucie/Jesse fanart by @nairafeather was amazing, but where do you stand on the situation? (As in Lucie and Matthew or Lucie and Jesse?)
Hi anon thanks for the ask I appreciate it, hope you're doing good and love ya.
And yes @nairafeather art is how I've imagined the characters of tsc to be along with @cassandrajp of course. Nairafeather's art is amazing and beautiful.
And when it comes down to it I do like jesse x lucie idk they just intrigue me and it would be an interesting story I think. The fact that he's dead and is a ghost but she can see him obviously though she's a herondale, but in tsc it's said that a ghost is only still there and has not passed on because they have something that is unfinished or someone they still owe something too.
Plus I've always had this headcanon that the blackthorns unque eyes are because Lucie's and Jesse's eyes mixed if they have a kind or two, and I know I know that's not really possible but when has tsc gone by the complete genetic code?. I mean I saw a post where someone was studying genetics and said that isabelle lightwood shouldn't actually have dark eyes if Robert is her bio father cause he and maryse both have blue eyes and cassie said maryse never had an affair.
So that's why I have this headcanon, but idk I just like them together and I think it would be an interesting story if they fall in love.
And Matthew I love him to death but idk I mean him and lucie would be cute but there's a lot there. But I mean whichever is cool I would personally prefer jesse x Lucie but if Matthew x lucie becomes canon that's alright or maybe both.
I love Matthew fairchild.
Either way we don't know much about the last hours yet and until then I won't make a full decision.
I ship jesse x lucie.
Thanks anon hopefully this is clear on where I stand.
And once again this is just my opinion and you don't have to agree and you have the right to your own opinion this is my personal preference.

Updated MySQL OSMetrics Plugins
It has been some time since I have posted updates to my plugins.  After the initial version, I decided to split the plugins into categories of metrics.  This will allow users to choose whether they want to install all of the plugins or only select ones they care about. Since the installation process is unfamiliar to many users, I also expanded the instructions to make it a little easier to follow.  Moreover, I added a Makefile. I have also reformatted the output of some plugins to be either horizontal or vertical in orientation.  There is still more work to do in this area as well. Where to Get The MySQL Plugins You can get the plugins from GitHub at https://github.com/toritejutsu/osmetrics but they will have to be compiled from source.  As mentioned above, you can choose whether to install all of them or one by one.  If you have an interest, feel free to contribute to the code as it would make them much more useful to get more input and actual usage. What Are The Plugins? These are a collection of MySQL plugins for displaying Operating System metrics in INFORMATION_SCHEMA. This would allow monitoring tools, such as Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), to retrieve these values remotely via the MySQL interface. Values are pulled via standard C library calls and some are read from the /proc filesystem so overhead is absolutely minimal. I added a couple of libraries originally to show that even Windows and other variants of UNIX can be utilized, but commented them out to keep it all simple for now. Many variables were added to show what was possible. Some of these may not be of interest. I just wanted to see what kind of stuff was possible and would tweak these over time. Also, none of the calculations were rounded. This was done just to keep precision for the graphing of values but could easily be changed later. If there is interest, this could be expanded to add more metrics and unnecessary ones removed. Just looking for feedback. Keep in mind that my C programming skills are rusty and I am sure the code could be cleaned up. Make sure you have the source code for MySQL and have done a cmake on it. This will be necessary to compile the plugin as well as some SQL install scripts. Preparing The Environment Below is the way that I compiled the plugin. You will obviously need to make changes to match your environment. You will also need to have the Percona Server for MySQL source code on your server: wget https://www.percona.com/downloads/Percona-Server-5.7/Percona-Server-5.7.17-13/source/tarball/percona-server-5.7.17-13.tar.gz Uncompress the file and go into the directory: tar -zxvf percona-server-5.7.17-13.tar.gz cd percona-server-5.7.17-13 I also had to add a few utilities: sudo yum install cmake sudo yum install boost sudo yum install ncurses-devel sudo yum install readline-devel cmake -DDOWNLOAD_BOOST=1 -DWITH_BOOST=.. Compiling The Plugins First, you will need to put the plugin code in the plugin directory of the source code you downloaded. For me, this was “/home/ec2-user/percona-server-5.7.17-13/plugin” and I named the directory “osmetrics”. Of course, you can just do a “git” to retrieve this to your server or download it as a zip file and decompress it. Just make sure it is placed into the “plugin” directory of the source code as noted above. Next, you will need to know where your MySQL plugin directory is located. You can query that with the following SQL: mysql> SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES LIKE "%plugin_dir%"; +---------------+-------------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +---------------+-------------------------+ | plugin_dir | /jet/var/mysqld/plugin/ | +---------------+-------------------------+ 1 row in set (0.01 sec) You will then need to edit the Makefile and define this path there. Once that is complete, you can compile the plugins: make clean make make install Installing The Plugins Finally, you can log in to MySQL and activate the plugins: mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_CPU SONAME 'osmetrics-cpu.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_CPUGOVERNOR SONAME 'osmetrics-cpugovernor.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_CPUINFO SONAME 'osmetrics-cpuinfo.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_IOSCHEDULER SONAME 'osmetrics-ioscheduler.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_DISKSTATS SONAME 'osmetrics-diskstats.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_LOADAVG SONAME 'osmetrics-loadavg.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_MEMINFO SONAME 'osmetrics-meminfo.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_MEMORY SONAME 'osmetrics-memory.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_MISC SONAME 'osmetrics-misc.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_MOUNTS SONAME 'osmetrics-mounts.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_NETWORK SONAME 'osmetrics-network.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_STAT SONAME 'osmetrics-stat.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_SWAPINFO SONAME 'osmetrics-swapinfo.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_VERSION SONAME 'osmetrics-version.so'; mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN OS_VMSTAT SONAME 'osmetrics-vmstat.so'; Alternatively, you can run the install SQL script: mysql> SOURCE /path/to/install_plugins.sql Verify Installation If all went well, you should see several new plugins available. Just make sure the status is “ACTIVE.” mysql> SHOW PLUGINS; +-----------------------------+----------+--------------------+----------------------------+---------+ | Name | Status | Type | Library | License | +-----------------------------+----------+--------------------+----------------------------+---------+ ... | OS_CPU | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-cpu.so | GPL | | OS_GOVERNOR | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-cpugovernor.so | GPL | | OS_CPUINFO | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-cpuinfo.so | GPL | | OS_DISKSTATS | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-diskstats.so | GPL | | OS_IOSCHEDULER | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-diskscheduler.so | GPL | | OS_LOADAVG | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-loadavg.so | GPL | | OS_MEMINFO | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-meminfo.so | GPL | | OS_MEMORY | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-memory.so | GPL | | OS_MISC | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-misc.so | GPL | | OS_MOUNTS | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-mounts.so | GPL | | OS_NETWORK | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-network.so | GPL | | OS_STAT | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-stat.so | GPL | | OS_SWAPINFO | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-swapinfo.so | GPL | | OS_VERSION | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-version.so | GPL | | OS_VMSTAT | ACTIVE | INFORMATION SCHEMA | osmetrics-vmstat.so | GPL | +-----------------------------+----------+--------------------+----------------------------+---------+ Querying The Plugins Let’s look at some example output from each of the plugins below: mysql> SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.OS_CPU; Who knows! If there is enough interest, I would be happy to expand the plugins. First, I need to do some more code cleanup and performance test them. I do not expect them to have a significant performance impact, but one never knows until you test… https://www.percona.com/blog/2021/01/08/updated-mysql-osmetrics-plugins/

300+ TOP TypeScript Interview Questions and Answers
TypeScript Interview Questions for freshers experienced :-
1. What is TypeScript? TypeScript is a free and open-source programming language developed and maintained by Microsoft. It is a strongly typed superset of JavaScript that compiles to plain JavaScript. It is a language for application-scale JavaScript development. TypeScript is quite easy to learn and use for developers familiar with C#, Java and all strong typed languages. TypeScript can be executed on Any browser, Any Host, and Any Operating System. TypeScript is not directly run on the browser. It needs a compiler to compile and generate in JavaScript file. TypeScript is the ES6 version of JavaScript with some additional features. 2. What are the features of TypeScript? Features of TypeScript are: TypeScript is just same as JavaScript Supports other JS libraries It is portable Here, .js file can be renamed to .ts 3. Who is the inventor of TypeScript? Designed by Anders Hejlsberg at Microsoft. 4. What are the benefits of TypeScript? Benefits of TypeScript are: Compilation Strong Static Typing supports type definitions supports Object Oriented Programming 5. What are the components of TypeScript? There are three components of TypeScript are: TypeScript Language TypeScript Compiler TypeScript Language Service 6. What are the types of comment in TypeScript? There are two types of comment in TypeScript: Single line. Example: // Single Line Comment. Multiple line. Example: /* Multiple Line Comment.*/ 7. What is the extension supported by TypeScript? TypeScript supports .ts extension. 8. What is negation operator? It is a type of miscellaneous Operator and used to Change the sign of a value. It is denoted by “-” symbol. 9. How to call base class constructor from child class in TypeScript? By using super(). 10. What is the Default Access Modifier for members of a class in TypeScript? public is the default access modifier for members of a class.

TypeScript Interview Questions 11. Does TypeScript support function overloading? Yes, Typescript support function overloading. 12. How to generate TypeScript definition File from .ts file? By using tsc compiler, you can generate TypeScript definition file from .ts file. 13. What are Modules in Typescript? Modules helps in organizing the code written in TypeScript. Two types of Modules are: Internal Modules External Modules 14. Is it possible to combine multiple .ts files into a single .js file? yes, It is possible. 15. What is the syntax to declare ambient variables in TypeScript? The syntax to declare ambient variables: declare module Module_Name { declare module Module_Name { } 16. What is Internal Module in TypeScript? Internal Module: It is used to logically group classes, interfaces, functions into one unit and can be exported in another module. 17. What is the syntax to declare External Module using export in TypeScript? The syntax to declare External Module using export is: //FileName:TutorialandExample.ts export interface TutorialandExample { //code declarations } 18. What is the syntax to declare External Module using import in TypeScript? The syntax to declare External Module using import is: import TutorialandExampleRef = require(“./TutorialandExample”); 19. What is the syntax to declare Internal Module in TypeScript? What is the syntax to declare Internal Module in TypeScript? module TutorialandExample { export function add(x, y) { console.log(x+y); } } 20. What is Nested Namespaces in TypeScript? Nested Namespaces: we can define one namespace inside another namespace. 21. What is the syntax to declare Nested Namespace in TypeScript? The syntax to declare Nested Namespace is: namespace firstnamespace { export namespace secondnamespace { export class classname { } } } 22. What is Object in TypeScript? Object: It is an instance of class which contains set of key and value pairs. Here, the values can be scalar values/functions or array of other objects. 23. What is Duck-typing in TypeScript? Duck-typing: It is used to verify the presence of certain properties in the objects to check their suitability. Here, two objects are considered to be of the same type if both share the same set of properties. 24. What is the use of this keyword in TypeScript? this keyword: It refers to the current instance of the class. In this keyword, the parameter name and the name of the class field are the same. 25. What is the use of new keyword? new keyword: It is used for instantiation in object creation. 26. What are the types of inheritance classified in TypeScript? The types of inheritance classified in TypeScript are: Single Multiple Multilevel 27. What are the types of access modifiers supported by TypeScript? The types of access modifiers supported by TypeScript are: Public Private Protected 28. What is the use of pipe symbol in TypeScript? pipe symbol: It is used to combine two or more data types to denote a Union Type. 29. What is the use of push() and pop() method in Tuple? push() method: It appends an item to the tuple. pop() method: This method removes and returns the last value in the tuple. 30. What are the variable scopes available in TypeScript? The variable scopes available in TypeScript are: Global Scope Class Scope Local Scope 31. What are method overriding in TypeScript? If subclass (child class) has the same method as declared in the parent class, it is known as method overriding. In other words, redefined the base class methods in the derived class or child class. Rules for Method Overriding The method must have the same name as in the parent class The method must have the same parameter as in the parent class. There must be an IS-A relationship (inheritance). Example class NewPrinter extends Printer { doPrint(): any { super.doPrint(); console.log("Called Child class."); } doInkJetPrint(): any { console.log("Called doInkJetPrint()."); } } let printer: new () => NewPrinter; printer.doPrint(); printer.doInkJetPrint(); 32. What is "as" syntax in TypeScript? The as is the additional syntax for Type assertion in TypeScript. The reason for introducing the as-syntax is that the original syntax () conflicted with JSX. Example let empCode: any = 111; let employeeCode = code as number; When using TypeScript with JSX, only as-style assertions are allowed. 33. What is JSX? Can we use JSX in TypeScript? JSX is NOTHING BUT Javascript with a different extension. Facebook came up with this new extension so that they can distinguish from the XML-like implementation of HTML in JavaScript. JSX is an embeddable XML-like syntax. It is meant to be transformed into valid JavaScript. JSX came to popularity with the React framework. TypeScript supports embedding, type checking, and compiling JSX directly into JavaScript. To use JSX, we must do two things. Name the files with a .tsx extension Enable the jsx option 34. What are Ambients in TypeScripts and when to use them? Ambient declarations tell the compiler about the actual source code exist elsewhere. If these source codes do not exist at runtime and we try to use them, then it will break without warning. Ambient declarations files are like docs file.
