I will never understand the obsession with making tims favourite robin Jason when it couldn't be more painfully obvious that tims favourite robin was Dick
Like people are so caught up in the concept, the made up angst, that tims favourite robin beat him up that they straight up misunderstand how much more significant Tim and Dicks relationship is not to mention the added layers of Tim originally being created as the ultimate self insert character which for a good number of readers meant they grew up with Dick as their favourite robin and didn't really like Jason just for not being Dick

Bruce is the restraining bolt
Let's say that Bruce "dies" again. Tim, of course, figures it's another temporary thing and bonus he doesn't need to risk another organ to prove it this time. That being said, Bruce isn't around to stop them now. Dick doesn't feel the need to be the dad this time since Bruce will be back. He's the big brother, the babysitter at best. Jason has never felt the need to step up into a parental role for any of his sibs before and he's not going to stop now. Cass won't kill, that is her line, beyond that, she's not anyone's parent either. Tim is one bad day away from being a supervillain, he seriously needs a vacation but at the same time he needs something that will keep him busy or he will get paranoid (thanks B for the trauma) and so he's not going to stop anyone, Duke doesn't have the experience to know when or if he should stop any of his sibs, steph and barbara are staying out of it as while they are family they consider themselves cousins at best no matter what B says, and no one is going to let Damian boss them around.
That being established, B is gone, Alfred is fretting but not inclined to stop anyone anyway, the kids decide that while the bat is away...
When Bruce returns, Alfred is just returning from a spa trip his beloved grandchildren insisted that he go on since he deserved a nice break and they even investigated to make sure the spa wasn't a scam or front! While Alfred was gone and Bruce was "dead", all Black Mask's warehouses had been mysteriously destroyed with large explosions that Bruce had previously forbidden because he was worried about collateral damage since some of those warehouses were sandwiched by other storage facilities and places where people squatted. (Steph and Jason, both very affronted because they are professionals B! And yes, there were also glitter bombs involved, it made the fire extra pretty with the different colors).
Furthermore, Lex Luthor is no longer the majority shareholder of his own company anymore, that would be Tim now, and all of Lex's employees are rejoicing since they're all getting a pay raise that brings them from the legal bare minimum to not just a living wage but twice that plus benefits even for those who aren't full timers (which is basically everyone, lex never wanted to get benefits for anyone). Lex is also being investigated for embezzling, money laundering, domestic and international terrorism, and the trafficking of minors (kon). Lex chose a very bad time to make Kon sad and Tim took that personally.
Bruce also discovered that Tim's childhood home, aka the drake's old place next door for the given value of next door, has been demolished and that whole area is now a botanical garden and registered wildlife sanctuary. (Damian with assistance and permission from Tim since technically the land was in Tim's name, Damian persuaded Poison Ivy to help while also monitoring to ensure she didn't slip in anything detrimental and also breaking up the exotic animal smuggling ring that B had been trying to keep from him to prevent this very thing. Tim, in the meantime, just happened to have a number of people on hand more than happy to work in a botanical garden/wildlife sanctuary and no, none of those people were ever formerly ninja who answered to Ra's before realizing that Red Robin was a far better employer, why would you ever think they were?)
And of course, the Joker is dead. None of his kids are fessing up to this. If pressed, they will cry, even Jason, and say that they thought Joker killed their dad and they wished it had been them because they missed him so much! (It was Dick and Barbara, Babs faked the paperwork for Dick to go in as an orderly, Dick, in disguise, gave the Joker altered medication via injection and made sure to get some air bubbles in for good measure, official COD was a totally natural brain aneurysm, so sad, no autopsy needed, burn the body)
Duke was a bit of a wild card and ended up hanging out with Selina, picking up a few extra skills, and using those skills to break into various mansions and apartments of the filthy rich to steal back stolen art and artifacts and return them to museums in their country of origin so they can be enjoyed by everyone (he watched indiana jones recently and the "it belongs in a museum" popped into his head a lot, he did wear a particular hat while he was committing his heists) It was nice potential step mother and step son bonding time
And finally, Cass causes Ra's Al Ghul to lose a particular appendage, one that the lazarus pit hasn't been able to grow back for him thanks to a little consultation with Constantine beforehand. She then went to hang out at Themyscira and got some very pretty bracelets.
Bruce is thinking very hard about just turning around. He takes a nap instead and then he lectures his beloved nutcases about personal safety, the law, respecting what is essentially dibs on certain super villains, and all the other boring stuff he's tried to impose on them over the years.

The batsiblings have their own code version of “Do you want to talk or find a solution”
or when the bat siblings have to force one another to talk about their feelings, vent out what they’ve been keeping inside or basically trying to help another one out, they always say “Penny for your thoughts?”
Which doesn’t mean the saying. It’s a reference to Alfred Pennyworth, the OG able to make everyone quiver before him with a single judgemental eyebrow raise. He’s the one who always sees through their bullshit, calls them out on their behaviour, serves as a comforting presence to simply blurt out everything on your mind that’s been bothering you.
It means they’ll listen, nobody can make them leave even if they tried and they’re not gonna relent until they get what they want. It’s an opportunity to get the other person to open up and share their own thoughts while also giving the other space and comfort.
Steph started it by asking Batman of all people when the man was brooding the whole day over an attempted kidnapping of Jason and Dick when the two were out. Thankfully, their Wayne persona had not forgotten their childhoods as Dick as a gymnast and Jason as a street-kid, so the two were able to escape without much concern brought to how two rich kids took down a gang of people whom the nurses were struggling to decide if they should put in hospice.
Bruce, the worrying father he always was had an annoying habit of being a recluse even more than he already was when he was really stressed. So Stephanie one day just sauntered over into the batcave, bypassed all the emergency codes, sat down wolfing down her breakfast while forcing Bruce to look at her by eating in the most atrocious way possible to keep his attention - a task not too difficult because the man ate cheeseburgers by using a knife and fork, was a raised by a butler and Steph was.. well Steph.
And once she has his attention and horror, she raises an eyebrow and asks
“Penny for your thoughts?”
It works, somehow and when it’s only when Steph and Bruce are having a heart to heart that several shadows currently in the vents vanish, and along the lines it becomes a part of their vocabulary too. First time Steph hears Jason say it, she accuses him of stealing her patent, to which Jason shrugs and says he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Dick uses it too and always glances at Steph with a smile when he says it. Tim uses it in cases where he’s too tired to simply point out the flaws of his siblings selflessness or gameplans because he knows all of them are too stubborn to face it point-blank and this way ensured they actually took what he said into account, which meant he didn’t have to stalk them afterwards and hide in the shadows until the plan was completed successfully with minor (Tim’s definition of minor is no organ out of body) injuries. Damian simply chides her for not putting a patent on it.
So while Steph is happy that everyone’s actually using it to help one another, she is getting increasingly ready for justice when they keep gaslighting her and claiming they came up with it all by themselves.

A/N: There's a lot of information to digest in the chapter, and really what was meant to be one chapters I actually am going to have to split up in order to make them manageable. It's been awhile, and while I'm still trying to figure out how to manage my life in the sense of hobbies, work, my health, a possible second job, and extracurriculars, I request you all be patient with me. I definitely do have more in store, yet for now this chapter isn't proofread (at least the beginning and end) I just need to get this one out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having discussed tomorrow’s events as a group at dinner, your Father let you lead the charge in what would happen with your apartment’s belongings. Decided on packing everything up and either donating the things you don’t need, storing the important things, and transporting the things you do need, it all was simple enough. Nothing a little packing tape and rounds of boxes won’t fix.
Starting the day with a hearty breakfast from Alfred, you all packed into a minivan you didn't know or think the Bruce Wayne would ever own or have anything to do with. Nevertheless, the ride was fairly timely to get to your old apartment building. Saying hello to the few neighbors coming in and out who you recognized and knew, you led the gang the seventeen flights and begrudgingly let them inside. You knew sooner or later they'd out where and how you lived. It definitely isn't as nice as Wayne Manor, but of course, what else could you expect?
Assigning everyone to different spots and or groups of items in the apartment, you really feel like they went for overkill. A welcoming and slightly overwhelming sense of love blossoms in your chest as they really didn't all need to help, but everyone insisted on coming. Even Tim's girlfriend, Stephanie. How nice, you think, for someone to actually care that much to go out of their way. Family almost congesting the apartment, you focus on your room and belongings. The fact that Damian hasn't even made any rude remarks (that you know of) is surprising.
After almost everything is packed and it's a few hours past noon, Alfred gets tired. Damian insists he's spent enough time in this 'hellhole' and almost demands that Alfred take him home. With the time having gotten away from you and some of the others, it seems to no one's surprise that Tim and Stephanie also apologetically explain their need to leave. They have homework they need to get done; and with that, Alfred agrees that it might be best to head back to the Manor with everyone who needs to leave. Dick lives in Bludhaven, so there's no surprise he'd stay, and while Jason has his motorcycle, he says he doesn't mind staying until it's all finished. Bruce having come separately after checking in at work explains that the two of you can drive back together once everything's done. It'd been lucky enough that he'd brought his car, and not one of the nicer ones, either.
Searching all the nearby boxes, you don’t find it. It’s nowhere to be seen, and if it’s not here then that can only mean one thing: They took it. Opening up the box near the kitchen you retrieve a butcher’s knife. Hand gripping the handle tightly you storm to the front door and lock it.
“Woah, woah- what’s going on?” Jason asks, hands raising in concern as he stops boxing the books that’d been on the nearby shelf.
With a tense look in his eyes, you adjust the knife in your palm, getting a better and more sturdy grip on it. Other hand rising to your mouth you place your pointer finger before your lips. A tacit command of ‘silence’. Jason’s fear had drawn the attention of the other two, though you ignore them as you quickly storm through the living room and down the hall.
Eyes flitting back and forth out the window, up and down the fire escape you quickly return with the same fervor you’d previously held. “Why do you have a knife?” Dick questions.
Back to the front door, you simultaneously listen to the hallway, hoping that if anyone were to come, you’d hear them first and be ready. In the attempt at a raid via bursting in through the door, at least you’ll be the first one in the line of fire able to protect everyone. While the worst case scenario always pops into your mind first, you’re not oblivious to the measly chance this could simply chalk up to coincidence. Holding out the knife, you point to each man in the room as your gaze shifts between them.
“Look. There was a gun in there last time we were here. It’s always there. If none of you have seen it, let alone packed it away… then we have a big problem,” you reveal. Knife pointed in the direction of the safe that's now open within a drawer of the tv stand, it's clear that everything else has been packed away.
Between the couch and television diagonally to your left stands Dick. Hands raised, he holds a stoic expression as he stands closest to the safe. His blue eyes flit to Jason. Knife shifting toward him, he too stands with his hands by his waist, palms facing you. Eyes filled with confusion and concern, he shifts his weight as he stands across the room in the corner between the kitchen's counter and beside the opening to the hallway. His green eyes shift to Bruce.
Before you can even turn the knife on the man closest to you, diagonally standing in the kitchen opening to your right, someone speaks up. “I took it,” Jason announces. All eyes dart to him and you watch as he slowly starts to reach around his back towards his waistband. Out of the corner of your eye you spot Bruce move.
“Don’t!” You warn, stepping back and pointing the knife at him. He’s not going to disarm you. Eyes back on Jason, you motion with the knife for him to place the produced gun onto the table between you two. Gun dangling from his fingers, he doesn’t move, so you gesture again with more of a ferocity this time. “Put it on the table.” It’s a command, not a request.
He slides it across the table. Three steps close the distance between you and the item. Though Bruce could easily do something behind your back, just out of your peripheral vision now, you focus on the task at hand. One look at the gun has you skeptical; face tense, you use the knife to turn the gun around. The examination is short. One flip of the gun onto its other side and a quick lift into your hands to make sure the safety is on, you release the bullet cartridge to find that one bullet is missing. With a click of the cartridge locking back into place, you toss it back onto the table.
Storming back to the door where you're at a far enough distance from all of them, your forearms rest against the splintering wood, face buried within them for a moment to gather yourself. Slowly turning back toward the men, but more specifically Jason, you glare daggers at him. “Why didn’t you just tell me you had the gun when I first mentioned it missing,” not waiting for an answer, your head tilts a bit as you don’t play his game. “Nevertheless, did you really think I’d be stupid enough to not recognize that that’s an entirely different gun? So what’s your game?”
Silence lingers. Jason knows he’s fucked, and they all know it too. Why did he think she’d fall for that? It was worth a shot, sure, but the real gun is still back at the Batcave. However, she can’t know that. “There’s no game,” Bruce says your name, a sincere look in his eyes.
“I wasn’t asking you,” you bark, knife turning on him as he tries again to take a step closer. His hands are still raised in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
The silence is expected, however, the smile that creepily inches across your lips is not. A shift of the knife in your palm has you gripping the handle in an underhanded approach, ready to stab, rather than slice. “Ha,” you scoff, “I knew it… too good to be true. I can respect the lengths he’ll go to play his little games, but this is just beyond fucked. A ploy to what? Fuck with me, pretend to be my family, and now what? Kill me? I knew it. After yesterday, I just knew it was coming.”
“What are you talking about?” Jason asks incredulously, a hint of anger and fear within his tone.
“Who?” Dick asks coldly, taking a step closer.
“Antonio Marin?” Bruce asks. Eyes darting to meet his, you shift the knife in your palm again to get a better grip on it.
“Oh, you wanna play it this way? Act all fucking coy and innocent now?” Gears shifting, you eye the other two men. “Unless he’s just another victim to his plan, I don’t buy it. Richest man in the world and he’s a good guy? Yeah? No.”
“Should’ve known,” you sigh, shaking your head. “BPD? Too obvious.” With a sad smile and tears beginning to threaten your eyes, you chuckle. “Well if he wants me, then go ahead. I’ve got nothing left. If I’m the last piece to the puzzle then do it. Kill me. It’s three to one, I know you’ve got a gun and more than enough bullets to take me.” You thump your chest with your free hand, open, ready to accept your fate. “Do it! Shoot me, Jason. Right now! Kill me.”
As if the reality of the situation suddenly dawns on you, fear readily replaces the confidence you’d just boasted. Backing up against the door you shift the knife in your hand to a stabbing position again, as you continue to shift it, unsure which approach will be best in your defense. Suddenly you're terrified of what’s to come. “No… no. Three big men on one teenage girl?” The way Jason had hesitated, it’s apparent. “I knew he was expanding the business, but like this? NO.” Chest heaving with rapid breaths, you’re suddenly running on pure adrenaline. Panic sets in as you know what the man's got planned for you. “If you want me then I’m not going down alone. I’ll kill myself before I let that happen to me- and if that doesn’t work then I’ll mangle myself SO badly that nobody will buy me,” you threaten, voice deepening in a terrifyingly chilling way.
Placing the knife against your neck, you’re more than ready to take yourself off the table. You won’t let that happen to yourself. You won’t let anyone take advantage of you that way. A punishment worse than death is something you're not willing to participate in, nor offer.
Dick calls your name in a calm tone, one far too calm for this situation. “This isn’t any ploy, or game. We don’t work for anyone. If you think someone’s after you, you need to tell us. We can’t help you if we don’t know what’s going on.”
“Oh,” you relinquish too easily, knife falling back to your side. Turning to face the door your eyes settle against it for a moment before spinning back to face the man. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that Officer Grayson from the BPD was here! I’ll just tell you everything so you can either arrest me or take me out on his behalf!” With a step toward him, you raise the knife by your side again. “Do you really think I’m that stupid, Grayson? That I wouldn’t realize you’d try to get a confession out of me, record this- have them take a voice memo? This isn’t my first rodeo.”
"It's not like that. We're just trying to help! You can't seriously believe this is all some conspiracy against you," Dick argues. His voice is still calm, and while the raised brow elicits a begrudging irk and prick of paranoia in your mind, his words do nothing but continue to cause the gears to mentally turn. "If someone wanted to take you out there would've been easier methods. You would've been dead weeks ago."
A wry chuckle leaves your lips, a knowing smile still set on your features as you two stand off with one another. "Sure... if it was anyone else. Yet that's not how he plays his game and you know it."
"You still think I'm corrupt?" Dick asks, shifting his weight to lean into his hip on one side.
"How could you not be?! Look at me and tell me that you're not! That you don't know about Perdy Chapman, or any of the sabotage the BPD plays," you demand.
"I know about the sabotage. I don't know about Perdy Chapman, but if you know something," he recites your name, "you have to tell us. I can't do anything or help anyone if everyone's keeping secrets."
"What? So this is all a loyalty test? An attempt to get me to come back? There's no way he's that desperate."
"Come back? You worked for Antonio Marin?" Bruce pipes up, concerned blue eyes turning on you as he shifts his gaze between you and Dick. Hands still up in surrender, he takes a step towards you.
"Quit fucking with me! If this is because he thinks I'll rat, I won't! I'm not a fucking rat. We got out, we left! We don't owe him anything!"
"If you know where he is you need to tell us," Jason voices his concern, also taking a step closer. "No one is taking you back, no one is gonna hurt you. I'll be damned before that happens." Jason whispers your name, garnering your attention as he gives you a serious look, "If you think he's after you, we need to know. We can't help you if we don't know what's going on."
With a stomp and a slash of the knife by your side as you realize they're right, you won't do this without a stipulation. "Fine! But... I can't go to the cops. I can't... file a report. I can't do anything. Promise me-" you respond, voice starting off confident until his falls short of a whisper. Jason nods, starting to close the space as he pulls out the last chair remaining at the dinner table.
"No cops, you got it. Just... tell us what happened, what's going on," Jason concedes, hand settled on the back of the chair.
As you shake your head in decline toward the chair, Jason easily swivels it around and sits on his backward, attention on you. As you place the knife on the side table by the front door, you start to pace. "I... don't know where to start," you voice your thoughts.
"From the beginning," Dick encourages, voice gentle as he realizes Jason has made progress by building a rapport. Something he hadn't realized he could be making more of an effort towards, he supposes. Even if he already feels like he's done more than he can for the girl.
As the Detective sits on the back of the couch and Bruce leans against the wall, your eyes can't help but find his... your Father's. "I... I can't-" you realize. Steps coming to a halt, you find yourself face to face with the last person in your life who you feel like you can't lose. The only person you need to impress, to suck up to.
"This is important," Bruce says your name, head tilting further downward as he offers a more straight-on look with your height differences, not to mention the sympathetic look that cross his features.
Eyes falling to the floor, you shake your head. "I can't. I don't want you to look at me differently, and I know you will. There's no way you can't." It's a warning, a vague divulgence on the subject matter. There's no way this conversation can happen without someone's impression being changed or shifted. It's just not possible.
"That won't happen," Bruce reassures.
"There's no way it can't happen. You don't know!" You argue, hands gesticulating the emphasis of your seriousness.
"This is your safety we're talking about," Jason reminds.
"We all have pasts," Dick reiterates your name, "we've all done things. It won't change anything."
"I promise," Bruce adds on, following up with Dick's words. Crouching to be on your level, he holds out his pinky, and while part of you hesitates, the seriousness in his eyes begs for a piece of trust. An inkling of hope, sincerity, vulnerability, trust. Wrapping your much smaller pinky around his, you shake on it.
As he lets go and returns to leaning against the wall, they all sit in anticipation, waiting for you to speak. "From the beginning?" You question.
"From the beginning," Dick echoes again, trying his hardest to be patient. With a tacit gesture of his hand, he guides you to sit on the couch cushions. Despite his offer, you choose to sit on the floor in front of the couch, back leant up against it as Dick chooses to sit in the armchair to the left of it. Jason comes closer, perching himself on the edge of the tv stand, while Bruce lingers by the back of the couch to your right, still in your periphery.
"It... all started about, I don't know, two years ago?" Jason nods in encouragement, a sign for you to keep going. "I don't- I don't know exactly when, I can't really place a time or say because I didn't know- I didn't- I never thought- I mean," the words tumble from your lips as your thoughts begin to race with the memories. Heart beating faster, there was never a definitive point in time you could place. "He just... started coming over. After-" swallowing the thick lump that forms in your throat, the faint burning sensation of tears threatening to start welling up becomes real. "-Mom got laid off."
"Mhm," Dick hums, hands clasping in his lap as he expresses the fact that he's listening.
"Everyone knew who he was. We all do, but of course, you're nice to people you don't necessarily know. You don't wanna start any problems. I guess Mama met him one night when she was out with my Tia. He said he could get her job back, that he could help her make money again, that we wouldn't have to move, to get evicted. He'd get her job back. So he did. She didn't ask, she didn't even want her job back after everything they said and did to her, firing her just because of her skin- but... he did it anyways. He got her job back at the hospital and even got her a promotion. How? I never asked, but if you know Marin, then I guess you can imagine how."
"Then he told her she owed him," Bruce speaks up as you take a breath. His tone is definitive, certain, as if he knows. A shake of your head lets him know he's wrong.
"Of course, she went back to see him at the same bar. She thanked him, we all did... but that wasn't the end of it. He said if she ever wanted anything more, a side job, extra money, anything else, that he could give her that. That all she need do is ask." A sigh escapes your lips and you subtly shake your head again. you know you'll have to tell them. It'll get there eventually, yet there's no way of knowing how they'll react. "They became friends. I always thought he liked her, that's why he was so nice."
"But he showed his true colors, didn't he?" Jason comments, a dangerous and almost vengeful tone in his voice as he leans forward so his elbows rest on his knees. His hands curl in and out of fists as he listens.
"No... he was... just nice." Finally looking up to meet their eyes, you gauge the room. Each man has a different expression on his face, looks of curiosity, intrigue, suspicion, and anger all around. "He'd be at the parties, come over, take us out, have a drink. He became a part of the circle, at least... for a while. I think it all changed when Mama said no to him. He asked her out, and she finally understood why he'd been so nice to her. Yet, that didn't change anything. Being friends, he was still coming around. Maybe he was doing more, becoming more distant, but not much changed. He kept offering, and offering, and eventually I think she figured if she had control, and it was something he'd offer, then how could it hurt? It was only after that year and once the gifts died down that, well..."
"What?" Jason raises his eyes again to meet yours as he'd been mulling over his own thoughts for a moment, head in hands. A chuckle shakes his chest subtly as his hands shoot out in gesticulation. "You can't just say 'after that, well...' and not finish the story!"
"Come on, Jase-" Bruce gently reprimands with a look.
"It's clear there's more," Dick interrupts his Father to address you, still in the position he'd been in. Eyes intent on your figure as he waits for an answer, a scowl on his lips.
"I finally asked him if there was any way I could do something. Something small to make money; like mow someone's lawn, pet-sitting, house-sitting... things like that." Eyes falling to the pilled carpet by your sock-clad feet, you pick at the fluffy brown fabric. "I had school. My mom would hate me if she knew I asked him, but everyone else was getting money, and I figured if he was like my Uncle or Dad it's normal to ask for those things... I think." Hair falling over your shoulders, it masks your face as you rush to get the rest of the story out.
"He... had me do jobs for him. It was easy. Deliver presents, bouquets, envelopes, packages, things like that. No problem, lots of people do that, right? But I was making at least a hundred every week, if not more, and, and I didn't think about it. It was easy money! I could buy whatever I wanted, I could save, I could spoil my friends, my mom... I never thought about it until I... got curious." Words trailing off, you risk a glance up at Dick. Tucking your bangs behind your ear, his expression is immovable. He's stoic; a pickup of heartrate leaves you anxious as you haven't been able to easily read him like many of the others.
The movement of Jason's lips slowly opening garners your attention, and as his eyes widen you quickly duck your head back down again. "You were..." he tests the waters.
"So one day I decided to stay. They never opened their packages in my vicinity. Never opened the presents, envelopes, packages, or undid the bouquet. It didn't feel right. I haven't gotten many presents in my life, but I'd think if I got a big one like those, I'd open it right away... see what it is." Continuing with your story, you didn't give Jason even half a fraction of time to finish his thoughts. "So I delivered the package like normal, watched them count out the money and hand it over before I was on my way. Around the corner, I was halfway down the block when I realized I could probably wait it out, hide somewhere across the street and watch them from one of the store windows. They wouldn't notice. I could just put on my hood, if anything, and... well, then it-" eyes shifting back up to Dick, you don't look away this time, "-it happened."
"I hadn't realized it but parked on the opposite side of the road and right by me out of sight from where I'd come there were cop cars parked. Cops lined up with their guns pulled, batons and riot shields ready. I froze..." At this moment it seems like the gears in Dick's mind are finally starting to turn and place things together. "I thought I was caught, for something I only suspected, but... within seconds the cops were ushering me out of the area while the second team were busting the gang of boys I'd come from for having drugs."
"They were using you," Bruce states, an air of sympathy encased in his word choice.
"You were a mule f-" Jason affirms.
"-But that wasn't the end of it," Dick says confidently, his dark blue eyes still set on you, unmoving, a quirked brow joining his visage. "You said you're out. So if that's true then how'd that happen?" He asks, finally shifting in his seat as his head slightly tilts. It's almost as if he's testing you. "Exactly," he clarifies.
"Once I realized what was happening I ran home. I-" jaw clenching, your eyebrows furrow as you don't want to have to admit this. Especially not when Dick looks so confident and arrogant. You know he'd seen you that day, just like you knew you'd seen him. A silent staring match follows,a few seconds, before your resolve crumbles upon the memories. "I told my mom. I was crying, and she was shocked and surprised and angry and mad and I didn't know what to do! I didn't know where to go or who to tell, and I knew she'd be mad but she said she wasn't mad at me, but at him and that it was okay because she was gonna get us out of it. We met up with Anto- with- with Marin," you correct yourself. "We demanded out, and... he let us go. He said we were free to go as long as we didn't say or do anything that went against him. MY mom didn't want us involved with him anymore."
"He just 'let you go'?" Dick reiterates.
"Yes. That's it," you reveal, a shrug following as you don't bother to make eye contact. "Now you know!" The revelation leaves you upset and unaware of anyone else's responses. You just know that this changes everything, now that they know... they know that you're a bad person. You dealt drugs. You worked for a mobster. A gangster, a criminal; you stocked up drug money, saving it, keeping it. Blood money, one could even claim in earnest... and you couldn't argue with them.

I AM GOING SO FERAL OVER THE CHARACTER ARCS IN URBAN LEGENDS BECAUSE I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. There are two stories that are written by different authors and complement each other in ways that hit for me JUST RIGHT because it ends up showing such an interesting portrayal of how complicated relationships aren't a single straightforward line in how they act towards each other. In "A Carol of Bats", Bruce is being grim and sullen, so Tim tries to get Dick to deal with him, but Dick says he can't, he's done that over and over, it never lasts, and ultimately he started sacrificing his own future to keep Bruce from being consumed by his past, that Tim needs to be careful with this, too. But then we see Dick went ahead and called Bruce anyway, he stepped back in when he was needed, and we see Bruce stepping back from the ledge, hugging a scared, hungry man from the mob, organizing a dinner for those who are starving--but more than that he also tells Tim (who gets him a present to try to make him happy), that he's already happen, that Tim being his son makes him happy, period. Then a different arc starts up and it's such an emotional follow-up, where "The Murder Club" has Thomas and Martha Wayne coming forward in time, disapproving of what's become of their son, and Dick stomping all over the sacred ground of Bruce's feelings about his parents, to say that they'll come around, once they understand what Bruce has done for all of them, what he's done for Dick specifically. And Bruce agrees! Even having just been emotionally sucker punched by his parents, he's come far enough that a three-minute speech by Dick Grayson where he refuses to not be important to Bruce, that's enough to have him step back from the ledge. It's almost easy in comparison to previous times! Because Bruce has been working on it! The whole arc is about Bruce having a chance to literally return to the past, to live a life with his parents, to be able to choose his parents over everything he's built--and he chooses the present. He chooses his sons and father figure, he chooses Alfred, Dick, and Damian.
Tumblr media
And he acknowledges the burden that his trauma and poor mental health have put on them, Dick especially (though, Tim and Damian are part of this as well, and Jason had his whole arc earlier in the series):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND I'M JUST??? LOSING MY MIND OVER THIS CHARACTER ARC?? I have no idea how intentional it was or if it was just two writers who actually get the characters, but that it's not a smooth path to navigate dealing with a man like Bruce, that there's always forward steps and backward steps, that there'll be progress and there'll be backsliding (because THAT'S HOW SHITTY MENTAL HEALTH WORKS, that's how emotionally complicated relationships work!), but they all get up and keep trying to do better for each other and themselves. That these two stories show an arc of Bruce slowly learning to handle his breakdowns better. That he lets them in faster, he reaches out himself faster, he holds onto them faster. It's not about turning their backs on Bruce, it's about saying that they can't make him be happy at the expense of their own lives, but then we see him literally turn away from the past for them, of course they're right there, they love him, they want to be here, they show up when he's willing to meet them halfway--and Bruce does. Because that's who the character is at heart, someone who is traumatized to hell and back, that trauma is often violent and ugly, but he keeps getting up and trying again for those he loves, for those he needs to be better for. That means sometimes he missteps. He'll misstep again in the future. People will have to take a step back from him in the future. But they'll all dust themselves off and try again because he genuine makes an effort for them, not just to save their lives, but to be emotionally available even when it's hard fucking work and he can't punch his way out of it. Bruce Wayne is a character that is at his most resonant for me when sometimes he's a shitty dad who then has to work to be better, that if he never mistepped, his character wouldn't have nearly the depth he does. This Bruce Wayne means the world to me because it's so hard to do this kind of work, so much harder than punching things, and yet he keeps doing it, even when it hurts, because his family deserves him to really try for them. And he does! He'll be an asshole again in the future, but when I say "Bruce Wayne is a good dad", it's because of this, because even in the middle of that 530 different flavors of fucked up trauma brain he has, he still says his kids' emotional boundaries and overall wellbeing and happiness matters.

Hello, hope you're having a good day/night
I was wondering what you're personal headcannons are for Bruce Wayne?
(and wondering if you'd write anything for the Call of Duty modern warfare characters?)
Bruce Wayne Headcanons:
- In my eyes, he's an omega because despite what others would think, he has more traits of an omega than an alpha.
- Despite being on scent blockers and heat suppressants because he wants no one to know his secondary gender, most people assume that he's an Alpha, even those on the Justice League who don't know his secondary gender.
- He has constant puppy fever. Whenever he sees a sad pup on the streets, he has the intense need to bring them in. As he gets older, Alfred has to stop him because it gets out of control. It's mostly due to him losing his parents. If Alfred won't let him adopt said pup, then he'll put them through one of his many organizations to help wayward pups without parents, paying for their schooling and meals.
- At first, the puppy fever was brought on because of his parents dying. It got worse when Dick left when he was older, which is why he took on Jason. Then it got to catastrophic levels once Jason died and he literally had to have a pup around him so that he didn't succumb to omega devastation.
- He was the one who gave birth to Damien. He was under the affect of a heat inducing drug and thalia was conveniently the only Alpha nearby. He didn't hate being pregnant as much as he thought he would and actually considered it a 9 month vacation while Dick took over. After that, his puppy fever was severe. Like he genuinely doesn't mind being pregnant again but theres only so many times Batman can "mysteriously disappear" for 9 months. Although Gotham citizens are kinda dumb so he might be able to get away with it.
- His nest consists of mostly clothes that still have his kids "puppy smell" on them.
- Loves it when his kids lay in his nest with him, even if they're not pups anymore. It just brings him comfort to have them close to him.
- The older he gets, when his heats are far and few in between, his puppy fever gets stronger. If you've ever seen That 70s Show where Kitty was going through menopause, he's like that. Constantly staring at babies, constantly looking at baby things, reminiscing about when his pups were younger, it's just "baby baby baby, must be pupped, want pups." On the brain constantly. Alfred has to reel him in and remind him that he already has 8 pups, 9 if Terry Silver pops up.
- Speaking of Terry, Bruce would be devastated to find out he has a pup, who's, well, not really a pup anymore, that he didn't get to raise.
- Went through severe devastation when Dick left and it nearly killed him when Jason died. Losing a pup is the worst pain any omega can feel.
- Adopting Tim got him out of that devastation. It might have looked like he was "replacing" Jason but it was for the betterment of his health, he would have succumb to his devastation if he didn't.
- Has only been pregnant once but he still lactates, even before his pregnancy. Dr Leslie thinks that it's just his body's abnormal way of responding to his puppy fever, even if his pups are way too old to nurse or if they're not even pups anymore.
(Also, yes I'll write for the COD Men)

In every universe Jason Peter Todd dies young. It’s a fate sealed across the multiverse. Maybe he could hope that there’s one universe where he doesn’t. aka, Jason, Dick, and Bruce go multiverse hopping, and are not having a fun time. (Ps, when I started writing this fic I hced Jason as Latino, but I don't really believe in that hc anymore, so just a heads up if you don't like that hc)
TRIGGER WARNING -> Child Death (it's Jason)
Currently, they were standing in front of a Palace. And they were definitely sent back to Medieval times, but not really because the clothing didn’t really match up with the architecture, and the weapons.
Oh, there was also a strong sense of magic, so probably more Dungeons and Dragons vibes. Sick.
Dick took a couple breaths, clenching his fists and releasing them. “Our money’s gonna be useless here. And we should probably get different clothes so we blend in more, but we can’t get those things because we don’t have money.”
So they were going to ignore the fact that the cashier’s name was Jack White. Like… Jack Oswald White. Like the Joker.
To be fair, Jack White is a common name. Jason tucked the comic books into a hidden pocket in his jacket, “We should go deeper in.”
“But this universe’s Bruce is probably in the Castle.”
“It’s a Palace. Castles have defense structures. We can collect gossip from the maids.”
Dick raised an eyebrow, “Gossip?”
“Yeah. How else are we supposed to get information on the Royal family? Use a computer?”
So they went deeper into the palace, sticking to the shadows, and listening to people.
Kal-El was the current King, but before that it was Jor-El, and before that it was Thomas Wayne. Bruce still has prince status, but he– he didn’t abdicate his claim to the throne, because he was fourth in line– Clark, Kon, Jon, and then Bruce, but Something something, the Els were gods, better if they had the throne, blah blah blah. So it was more like the Els were ruling because the people thought very highly of them.
Dick frowned, “Does that mean he’s Uncle Kal, not Uncle Clark?”
“Just call him, your Majesty .”
The Els practically adopted Bruce after Martha and Thomas died, which made all three of them frown, because what about Alfred? There was something about all the Robins– guess there weren’t secret identities here either– being back together in the palace for the first time in a while . That also implied that Royal Bruce had already adopted all– if not most–of them.
Jason snorted, “Dick, do you think you go by Knightwing?”
“I’m pretty sure we all just go by Rob– Oh fuck you.”
Apparently, Dick was usually traveling around, helping whoever needed help along the way. Cass was in Themyscira, (Which, lucky Jason wishes he could go to Themyscira) but came back that morning, with Diana. Tim had been undercover in an enemy kingdom. Damian and Duke had been staying at the palace.
Then, Jason felt an energy. It wasn’t a bad energy, like an Untitled or a bad vibe from someone. No. It actually felt really familiar.
He could feel the energy calling to him. Not luring him in a malicious way, but in a guiding way. He knew it was his energy, but it felt so much stronger. It was so much stronger than his own.
They came to a courtyard, where Steph and Cass were sparring with each other, Jon and Damian were seated in front of Dick as he did some flips, Tim and Kon were climbing a tree, and Duke and Jay were sat crisscrossed in a corner with blindfolds over their eyes. Though, Jay was grinning while Duke was frowning.
“ Jason… I’m tired of this.” Duke whined. He was really young. Maybe, 9? “Aren’t you supposed to be teaching me?”
“I can not teach you, only guide.” Jay backhanded Duke.
“ Ow! What was that for? ”
“I am trying to guide you through foresight. Obviously, you didn’t see that coming.” Duke tried to hit Jay back, but Jay shifted just out of the way so he wouldn’t get hit, “I saw that coming days ago.”
Duke straightened a bit, “Really?”
“No, it was just predictable. I can only see bigger things, remember?”
Dick (his brother) immediately turned to him from where they were hiding, and whispered “Can you read the future?”
Jason made a so-so gesture, “Not often.”
Dick frowned and looked like he was going to say something, when Cass stopped sparring and looked straight at them.
“Hold it Cass, it’s part of Duke’s training.” Jay also turned to face Jason, even though he had his blindfold, and grinned, “Alright, Duke. Your way of seeing into the future is different from mine. The way I can do it is through space, and astral projection. Your powers work by…” Jason trailed off so that Duke could finish the sentence.
“Changing light.” Duke chewed at the side of his cheek, “But how does that relate to me being able to see into the future?”
Jay took off his blindfold, “There was light yesterday, there is light today, there will be light tomorrow.”
“I hate it when you speak all cryptic.” Duke huffed and crossed his arms. “You’re like an old man trapped inside– Oh! Oh! Wait! You mean I can see the light of tomorrow, today!”
“Or, like, a couple seconds from now, right now , but yes.”
“Then why am I wearing a blindfold?” Jay let out a snort, while Duke ripped off his blindfold and swatted Jay with it, “You’re an a–” Duke cut himself off as his eyes flashed golden, and turned to face Jason, Dick, and Bruce.
Jason raised his hands and entered the courtyard, “Hello. We come from a different world, by the way. It’s kinda in the future, but it’s not this future…” He looked over to Jay, “Was that our cue? We didn’t really have time to plan this all out.”
“Yup. You guys are right on time.” Something… resigned flashed over Jay’s face, though was quickly covered up with a welcoming smile.
Cass to Jay worry clear on her face, “There’s that look again.”
“I’ve got all kinds of looks.” Jay made a silly face, but immediately stopped when Cass gave him a don’t do that look. “Don’t worry. If it was important, I’d tell you.”
Cass visibly softened for a second, before placing her hand on her hips, “You better.”
Jay looked at his brother Dick, “I already told Bruce and Uncle Kal that we’d have guests.”
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“That’s because you’re here right now. And you know Bruce would probably put them in the dungeon if I didn’t warn him beforehand.”
“I’ll put you in the dungeon.”
Jay opened his mouth like he was about to shout something, but Dick quickly covered it with his hand. Jay then bit Dick’s hand, “I wasn’t even going to tattle.”
Cass snickered, “Lies.”
Jay gasped, “You’re supposed to take my side. I’ve known you for longer.”
“Quality over quantity.” Cass shrugged. Though, she was smiling in a playful way.
“Wait, how long have you guys known each other?”
Jay threw an arm over Cass’s shoulder, “Since birth. We’re practically twins.”
“We’re not twins. I’m older.” Cass shoved Jay away, but then frowned, “Are we not close in your world?”
Honestly, Jason was surprised they were in this one.
…It was probably because Jay didn’t kill. That always seemed to be the main issue between Jason and his Cass. Initially, Cass absolutely despised Jason for killing. If anything, her lines were even harsher than Bruce’s when it came to that, and because Jason knew she hated him for killing, he just… stayed away.
Then, one night after patrol, he walked into his safehouse to see her waiting for him. She told him why she didn’t kill. How she saw every life as valuable. She asked him why he killed.
At first he said because the people he killed deserved it. And that he didn’t think the same way as Cass did. That some people deserve to die because they are scum.
But she didn’t believe it. Because she said that she saw him seconds before Jason had killed someone. She said his body language looked like he was convincing himself to kill. So she asked him again, why did he kill?
He had to think about it for a moment, but eventually he said ‘Because the people I kill have made victims. And those victims deserve peace. Peace that I can give them.’
Then she nodded, and looked at him like she was looking through his soul, ‘Because you haven’t been given that peace.’ And then she just left.
Since then, it’s been better between the two of them, but Cass was still the person he got along with the least out of the whole…team. And Jason didn’t get along with a lot of them. There was Tim– which he seemed really close with in the fourth universe, and the Wings universe. He didn’t really get along with Damian– but the kid seemed to adore him in the last universe. Even Dick seemed a lot closer to Jason in the Wings universe. Maybe if he had never died he wouldn’t be alone.
“Um… no, but I havent known you since birth. With time we’ve gotten closer.” Which, technically was true, but it was a half lie.
If Cass picked up on it she chose not to say anything.
“Well that sucks. Anywho, I wanna talk to Giant Jason.” Jay grabbed his hand and dragged Jason out of the courtyard, out of earshot from everyone else.
“Won’t the Kryptonians still be able to hear us?”
“Kon and Jon’s powers haven’t come in yet. And Uncle Kal won’t eavesdrop unless we shout.” Long gone was the Jay who was happy and joking around with his siblings, as he pressed a palm to Jason’s sternum and closed his eyes. “Ok, good. You’re also a master of the All-Blades. Yours are a lot more powerful than mine.” he could see relief flood into Jay.
“Kid, I’m pretty sure you’re a lot more skilled than I am.” Obviously if he was helping Duke with his precognition, Jay looked at All –the past, present, and future– better than Jason was. And he was pretty sure that Jay astral projected for Jason to find him.
Jay shook his head with a smile that made him look much older than he actually was, “You have a lot more soul than I do. Kinda like you have two.” they started walking farther away from the courtyard, “Have you seen what happens next?”
Jason scratched the back of his neck, “Um, no. I only look at All when I have a chance to sit down and meditate." He doesn’t do it often. It makes him a bit unhinged for the next couple weeks after he does it. The last time he looked at All had been right after Bruce’s disappearance, and he almost killed Tim and Damian. Jason may be the lone human able to master the art without going insane, but… he kinda does, every time he tries.
“A group of Untitleds are going to invade the palace looking for Duke in fifteen minutes. It’s too much for me to take on.”
Jason almost stopped in his tracks, does he know he dies? “I’ll fight beside you. Should we get Duke someplace safe? All of your siblings, actually.”
Jay’s eyes darted around the room, probably looking at all possibilities, “No. They’ll be safest where they are. The Untitled will appear at the Eastern entrance. We’ll get to them before the alarm sounds, and then they’ll come rushing, which will give us enough time to slay most of them.”
Jason nodded, as they continued to speed off in silence. “So, if you knew Cass from birth, but you also have trained with the All-Caste… What's the timeline?” It was meant as a distraction, but also, Jason was really just curious.
“My father was a mercenary, and he learned from Lady Shiva. So I knew Cass from when I was younger, but it was more like we were acquaintances. After my father died, Essence found me and brought me to the Acres of All and I was there for two normal years. I left once for a.. It wasn’t a mission, because I was nine, but Ducra sent me out to get familiar with the feel of magic outside of the Acres of All. I found Cass on the run, and I decided to stick with her. I’m sure Ducra knew this would happen.
"We were on the streets together for three years. We also met Duke out there during our later years. We were kinda a little family of our own. Bruce caught me stealing from him, Cass helped me get away. Then Bruce found us helping people out of a burning building and decided to take us in. I go back to the Acres of All every once in a while, but usually I stick to home base. What about you?”
They had gotten to a set of double doors, so Jason assumed they were at the Eastern entrance. “Hmm, well, I was also living on the streets by the time I was nine. Bruce also caught me stealing from him, but took me in after I helped him stop crime school. I think my Papi also knew Lady Shiva, but I didn’t know he knew her until I was 15. Then I died, but I came back to life. Talia brought me to the Ducra, and I learned under her for six normal months, but then I–” Ice slid down his spine, making the hairs on his arm stand up and his stomach twist.
They both summoned their blades.
And the doors opened.
And they attacked
There was something so oddly natural about fighting alongside this version of himself. It felt almost as natural as fighting alongside Bruce.
It could just be because Jay knew how Jason fought because he saw All and, despite this version of him being from a universe that was vastly different from his own, Jason still knew how he fought. The blend of a martial stance and a street brawl stance. The combination of flashy acrobatics he’d learned from Dick and the practical dodges and rolls. The mix of the analytical eye from Bruce and the intuition he had gained over the years.
“ Where is the son of Gnomon?” the Untitled hissed in unison.
Jason landed a kick on top of an Untitled’s knee, launching himself up to get a good opening for a stab, “An Omen? Didn’t realize omens could have children.” Obviously, Jason knew who Gnomon was. He remembers Duke, pft, duking it out with him a while ago.
But this Duke was still young. And if these things kept coming after him… he needed someone to protect him. And yeah, they had Superman, but Superman and magic don’t mix.
Jay needed to stay alive .
Jason jumped on the Untitled Jay was currently fighting and sunk his blades into its shoulders, catching a glance at Jay.
He– he was translucent. Which was not good. “Kid, take a breather!”
Jason was sure he could take the rest of the Untitled. There were only five left. He could take them. Jason could take them. Duke needed Jay. Jason could take them.
He willed the blades to change form– into knives– and threw them, hitting one in the ear and one in the heart.
Jay’s eyes widened like he realized something and whipped his head around to the door, where the rest of his family were prepped with swords and armor, rushing out to help. Jay turned back and narrowed his eyes at the Untitled in front of him.
“Jay! Stop! I’ve got them!”
There were three Untitled left. Two near Jason, but he wouldn’t be able to get to the last one. Not while fighting these two. Not before Jay.
Jason summoned his blades back to his hands and he slashed an Untitled across the thigh.
Jay closed his eyes, and took a deep breath, before gripping his swords harder. “It’s me or my family. I can’t have that happen.” He looked back and locked eyes with Duke, “ Shine for as long as you live, Don’t be sad about anything,” Jay looked away and lifted his chin towards the Untitled, “For life is short, And time will demand its due.” Then he charged.
And as Jay’s blade sunk into the heart of the Untitled, the blade started to dim until it evaporated into thin air. And then his hand faded away, followed by his arm, then head, then chest, until nothing was left.
Jason slit the neck of the last Untitled.
The silence.
The silence felt too loud.
Until, “Where’d– where’d Jason go?” From Stephanie, voice wavering.
Duke frowned, eyes glowing golden, “What are you talking about? He’s right there!”
Tim blinked a couple times, but it didn’t cover the fact that his eyes were glossy, “Duke–”
“He’s right there! I can see him! Cass, you can see him, right?” Duke looked to the spot Jay used to be in back to Cass, “Cass?”
Cass looked at the spot Jay had disappeared from and shook her head no , once. Then twice. Her blank expression crumpled into pure grief as she fled back into the Palace.
“No!” Duke glared at everyone, “He’s right there! I can see him! Why can’t you guys see him ?” His eyes flickered from gold to brown, back to gold then back to brown, leaving the kid confused, “He’s– he was– he was right there!” He closed his eyes tight , and then opened them, “He was right there ! Where’d he go? Jason? Jason!” He ran over to where Jay was last standing, “JASON!!! ” Duke spun around in a circle trying to figure out where Jay went, but he couldn’t find him. He couldn’t find him.
Duke balled his hands into fists as his breathing began to speed up.
Then–an ear piercing scream.
And everything around them got brighter and brighter and brighter. They couldn’t tell what was Duke’s doing, but they also knew it was time to leave.

Oooo, so you have more fic recs? (if possible any where Jason Todd jsut gets that hug he so desperately need, violently or not I will take anything)
Of course!! here's a bunch of jason fics that I adore <3
by RedHeadedWoman
Jason has decided to move back into the Manor at least part time (or so he says) but there's just one problem. His bedroom has not changed since before everything so now he has to redecorate it with some help from his crazy as hell family.
Jason was going to regret this. So very much.
this fic is very old but still doesn't get the respect it deserves wtf!!!
by @daedalusdavinci
There are moments when the… everything of Dick's life catches up with him, and exhaustion sinks deep into his skin. However, when he goes dark on everyone else, Jason doesn't quite get the memo. Rules never seem to apply to little brothers.
After two weeks of little more than clipped texts, Jason shoves his way into Dick's life and gets him up and moving again.
jason tricks dick into taking care of himself yayyyy
by sophene
Jason decides to take Tim with him on a road trip. Tim has no say in the matter.
LMFAOOOO. just read it you'll see
by @thingr1
(In which Jason is hiding but Dick seeks him out anyway.)
mutual hurt/comfort baby!!!
by darkesky
“‘M fine,” Tim said and somehow missed both of their incredulous looks. Tim could be actively bleeding out—and hey, he might be right now—and he’d still find a way to insist he was fine and would be fine.
Jason spoke first (which proved how out of it Dick was because most days, he needed to beg Dick to shut the fuck up). “You’re such a dumbass.”
“Hey!” Tim swatted at him weakly. He couldn’t even beat a butterfly in a fistfight right now. “You can’t be mean to me. I’m injured.”
“Thought you were fine,” Jason said.
Tim paused, blinking. Then, he groaned and hid his face again.
Jason has to deal with his dumbass brothers.
jason indeed deals with his dumbass brothers
by @badacts
“This is a real novel moment for me,” Hood says. “I’m savouring it.”
“Savour it quietly,” Bruce replies. They’re here for a purpose, and he may not mind it in the strictest sense, but the GCPD lockup is not the place or time for Jason’s irreverent humour.
a tumblr fic wow!! also i love the characterization here
by @chuuyanakahra
"It’s easy to find it, if you know what you’re looking for. And Tim knows exactly what he’s looking for; when you work with Batman, you always do.
So he finds the small apartment, breaks in, and sits in the surprisingly comfortable couch. And waits.
Waiting’s the worst part of the job, though."
or, alternatively, Jason survives Ethiopia, and things change, while staying more or less the same.
tim is a stalker fan!!
by @unavenged-robin
The man looks at him as if Jason had an answer. But Jason has no answers. He’s bewildered just like him. They’re two men with no idea whatsoever of what the hell is happening to them.
cass takes care of jason, and jason is Confused
by @jyanadavega
"Jason snarled his teeth at his brother. Nightwing, damn him, simply smiled more, his hands still on his hips, expression deeply amused despite the groans of pain behind him.
Jason really wished he hadn’t been the one to be tied up to this altar. He immediately shoved the thought away, because he really didn’t want any of his siblings in his position anyway. Damn. Who authorized him to have these feelings?
“So,” started Dick. Jason immediately cut him off.
“Don’t.”"
OR: Red Hood gets kidnapped by some cultists, and Nightwing rescue him.
a cornerstone fic of ace!jason
and one last one!
by NightOwl1600
Jason doesn't quite understand whats going on. All he can tell for certain is that Tim is injured behind him, and Damian is standing in front of him, telling him to shoot. And for some reason, he really really wants to kill them both even though he knows he shouldn't. He would never kill his brothers, not now, at least, since they'd really grown to become brothers. Would he?
brainwashing fic :( but the fluff prevails!

Misconception that DC has tried to retroactively make the new canon to varying degrees
"Jason died because he was reckless and angry and wanted to prove himself - thus ignoring batman's order's to stay put and getting killed by the joker because his experience was inadequate to take him on"
What actually happened, largely abridged
"Jason was trying to prove himself to Batman" bull, actually - after Jason overheard Bruce and Alfred saying he should be benched from robin, he ran out of the house to clear his head, and returned to his old apartment. there, he unexpectedly came across the info that his mom wasn't actually his birth mom, and decided to go find her (bc Bruce is terrible with expressing his emotions, and inadvertently made both dick AND Jason feel like their place in his life/at the manor was dependent on being robin, so being fired feels a hell of a lot like being unwanted/kicked out - like. we know this. it happened with dick. It's gonna happen similarly but differently with Tim. it's a theme)
finding her just also happened to mean checking out various potential moms, not all of which were local, or even in the country...  so, sure, angry, but also really upset and all those other complicated emotions that come along with "I think my dad doesn't want me around anymore" and "oh wow i have a living parent out there in the world"
Bruce didn't even notice he ran away btw?? to another COUNTRY???? Bruce was tracking down Joker for a case and legit just HAPPENED to come across him bc his search for Joker coincided with Jason's search for his mother???? sir????????????? Jason is 15???? and also canonically so, so small. 4'6" i mean come on, not only is he objectively young but he definitely *looks* young, too
anyway they team up. it's kinda cute - also would have been low-key fun if Shiva *was* his mom I won't lie, but like, Cass exists and is so wonderful, that funky lil opportunity for additional bat and shiva drama was banked on
then they find Jason's mom and Bruce... leaves him with her???? Like, okay, sure, she's biologically related to him, and seems like a nice enough person bc she does work w a humanitarian organization, but sir. That is your small child you're leaving alone with a stranger in an unfamiliar place in an unfamiliar COUNTRY can we re-think this decision.
shenanigans happen and they both team up again for the joker thing, which ends w Bruce running off to save civilians from a truck full of bombs or something, and Jason keeping an eye on the warehouse joker and his mom are in. B tells Jason to stay put, and Jason is annoyed but agrees. he has literally every intention of staying out of Joker's way while Batman is away!!
of course, baby 15 year old jason (and b!!) think jay's mom is being *forced* to work with joker. What's a baby to do when his mom comes out and says he needs to leave well enough alone?? a baby will tell her he's robin and can help, that's what!! That she doesn't need to worry and he's more capable of protecting her than she thinks! and what's a shitty mother who cares more about her reputation and money than a child's life to do?? Tell him joker isn't at the warehouse anymore, obviously, it's all totally fine and Jason should definitely come inside while she grabs some things - oh but yes please walk ahead of her, of course. And *then* she pulls a gun on on him, right before they meet the very clown she swore had left.
He's not expecting the joker! He definitely wasn't expecting his mother to lie to him!! Reckless, rash, and angry my ass. If anything killed Jason, it was that he put too much love and trust and the earnest will to see good in people.
And it's really fucking sad that, after all that trauma - his death and resurrection both - after feeling betrayed and forgotten by his family, feeling his life wasn't *worth* a damn in the end, that he ultimately lost that ability to see the good before the bad and just trust that there are better people in the world - from too much empathy to not nearly enough

The Batfam play a video game that gives the option to fight on the side of good or evil!
My partner (countdyscalculia on ao3) came up with this thing of beauty! They wrote it and gave me the okay to post it here :D
Dick: always plays the good guy to a T Duke: plays good every time, but if the plot ever puts him in a position he doesn’t agree with he just fucks off and does whatever he wants for a while (really channeling the same Jumps Off A Bridge To Run From The Cops energy) Babs: plays good, but looks up maps of dungeons and stuff beforehand so she’s perpetually one step ahead of the game Jason: always picks the bad guy but halfway through gets “bored” starts to feel kinda bad about his choices earlier in the game and pretty much plays as good for the remainder of the game Tim: plays the villain in every way possible. Then, right before the end confrontation/event/battle, he uses a cheat code to reverse which side he's on and then uses his intimate knowledge of the evil forces to take them down methodically and efficiently one by one Steph: plays as long as she can without having to pick a side. Flips a coin or something to decide. Damian: picks good Of Course, and then proceeds to play in the most evil efficient way he can get away with Alfred: secretly, he once won an award for a UK Tetris competition when he was younger. He declines playing any video games currently, but often right when he's about to fall asleep, he still finds himself organizing the falling boxes into place in his head Bruce: always picks good, but has more trouble remembering which button is Jump and which one is Use Tool or something and never remembers to move the camera around and basically drives all the kids up the fucking wall (and also, like, he does so much tech stuff all the time?? How is he this bad at this????) Cass: uses the game as a fishing simulator (not remotely its intended purpose)

My Spider-Man & Batman Fanfic (WIP) #4:
Omg I just realized that since Aunt May is literally a nurse she could be the first link to the Batfam.
So I've been having trouble deciding on how the Parkers and Batfam would first meet. Like...how they would meet, why, where etc. What reasons would the Batfam would want to know more about them. I finally figured some of it out.
The first reason I feel like it would be mentions of Dick walking around the city. Then they would meet Richard Parker and just assume he's a doppelganger. (When two people who are unrelated look exactly alike.)
Then like 2 weeks later, there'll be evidence of 2 people breaking into Wayne Enterprises or something similar. 2 weeks after that they're seen again and they're inconsistently breaking into rich people's companies etc.
Now 2 months after the Parkers arrive in Gotham, one of the Batfam is incredibly hurt and can't communicate with the rest of the Batfam. They're hurt and are in need of medical assistance. That's where May comes in! And guess what she conveniently has a whole med room ready and prepared to help them. She helps them and while they're passed out or something and when they wake up, they're a little confused but they like May. (I don't know who gets hurt, either Tim, or Jason. I'm leaning towards Jason since May's gonna be in crime alley and all that but I also would not mind Tim.)
Now why does may have a whole med bay set up? And how? Well like a month after they arrived in Gotham, they all managed to find each other. Peter is discovered last and they all obviously know that he's Spider-Man. (they have some memory of Peter's life. Not a lot but they all know that he's Spider-Man. Should I keep it that way or change it?)
Peter wants to go back to being Spider-Man and they need to stock up on Items. Mary and Richard are in charge of gathering supplies (stealing) and Peter isn't allowed to join since it could jeopardize his identity before it's even revealed. They know that the Batfam is onto Richard and May.
Now whether or not Peter joins later on or does his own runs, idk. But that's for future me to decide on.
So because the supply runs May gets her own medical equipment, and decides that she's going to help the people of Crime Alley get the medical attention they deserve. Also she wants to bring back F.E.A.S.T.
So may is gonna be a Charity worker/organizer/founder of F.E.A.S.T. by day and the nurse of the fucking underworld by night! Ok I'm kinda exaggerating but what I mean is that she will be an illegal nurse during the night ( idk who will be on stand-by during the end of Peter's patrol, but I was thinking that the rest of the family would, maybe Ben.) She would help anyone in need, that includes the VILLAINS!! This would be interesting since she died in an explosion that was caused by one of the people she tried to help (green goblin). I feel like she'd have a bit of trouble with the villains. She'd help them but she'd be really scared while doing so and maybe a little angry. She died and I want to explore that part of her character. Peter would definitely object to her becoming like an illegal Nurse but gives in to her because he loves her very much and wants to support her. He's just constantly worried about her.
Anyways I was also wondering if there are any canonical "illegal nurses" that are in Gotham. I've read fics where there is a nurse that Jason, or the rest of the Batfam go to when things get rough on patrol and the nurse/doctor is a civilian. Maybe they can be friends with May!!
Anyways this will obviously get May investigated. And boom! She has documents and stuff! Now I feel like the Batfam won't realize that the info is fake for awhile. Since Peter's parents are literal spies and they're pretty damn good at making a whole new identity without getting caught (my head cannon) and Peter's intelligence is crazy. He's also like 20 here he's definitely smarter now than when he was a teenager. And he had Ned and Tony teaching him how to hack. Now I feel like Barbara is the better hacker but I need the plot to slow down sooo....
I need to think more on this later. Anyways yea! This is like a part of May's Story that I would want to write!
Hope you enjoyed it! If y'all have any questions you can ask me about it! Maybe even give me some ideas if ya want! This is all just a WIP and I honestly I am not gonna start this fic for a while...but Everytime I post the story gets more and more coherent. Lol.

I'm super invested in the trio au! Considering you said that Bernard is the muscles of the three, while Tim is the info guy and Darla the mastermind (I'm assuming) it has a very leverage vibe with the later seasons! Especially with the whole bad guys make the best good guys angle they have in terms of cleaning things up from the inside. Does Bernard tend towards being like Eliot Spencer? Very soft for those he loves but also super fighty when needed? Does he tend to always put his body between the other two and danger? I just love the idea of Bernard throwing himself over Tim and Darla. Taking blows and bullets and always getting back up. Always making sure the other two are safe and sound and only then begrudgingly allowing himself to be seen to. Does Tim get very blushy whenever Bernard is fighting or training? Has Bernard ever had to carry Tim only for Tim all but explode with blushy feelings?? Inquiring minds would like to know. Also what are the various robins opinions on the trio individually and together? Has Bernard ever had to fight them? Has Tim ever had to get in a hacker fight with oracle? Who would win? Your art is wonderful and tells such a fantastic story!
Oh yes Bernard definitely is the kind of person to jump in front of a bullet for his friends, he has done it so many times Darla straight up forces him to wear a bullet proof vest at all times. The fact is that he wouldn’t be like this is he didn’t have two idiot friends that seem to attract danger like magnets, honestly he cannot leave them alone for five minutes because suddenly Darla has a new feud with another gang and Tim is about to hack into the FBI to steal government secrets, he is in a way the voice of reason.
Listen at this point every single one of the gang members know of Tim’s obvious crush on Bernard, how can they not when whenever Bernard is training there’s Tim looking at him with heart eyes, you are correct that in more than one occasion Bernard has been forced to take Tim out of a situation by carrying like a sack of potatoes, and regardless of how undignified the position is Tim is definitely more than up or a repeat whenever, I mean have you seen Bernard’s arm muscles??? Drool worthy, in his humble opinion.
When it comes down to the Robins they all have different opinions about the trio.
Dick, the first robin, he is a bit torn about them, in one side he understand what they’re trying to do, but they’re kids, they’re so young, they shouldn’t have to be doing stuff like this, with ok he understands he was doing equally or even more dangerous stuff at a younger age, but he had Batman behind him, these kids have nothing and to make matters worse they’re dealing with all the gangs and organized crime of Gotham, they’re way over their heads and he is ready to step up and help whenever necessary, he said as much to Darla when he gave her his number, for backup, in case they ever need it.
Jason, the second robin, absolutely adores them, he thinks of them all as his little siblings, after all they’re just a few years apart, he wishes they didn’t have to do what they do, but he understand where they’re coming from, and he likes to think if he had never been adopted by Batman he would have ended with them, because he knows they take care of those under their protection, and so many of the street kids of Gotham need more people like them.
Stephanie, the third robin, is a big fan of them, she is down for helping them whenever, if she sees them while out patrolling she is so gonna ignore Batman and just drop next to them as ask what they’re doing now and how she can help. In this AU since Tim never became robin there never was a reason for them to meet, and even less for them to date, she ends with a crush on Tim, but it never went anywhere.
Damian, the fourth robin, he is a bit of a mess, when he arrives at Gotham he has the mentality that he has to prove himself so his father will accept him, so he decides he will do so by dealing with the people his father has never been able to get rid of, so of course he goes and attacks Tim, basically almost as the same than in canon, he nearly kills him, except this time after that a pretty pissed Darla interrupts their patrol, points a gun at Damian, and tells Batman that he either controls his brat or she will deal with him herself, there will no be second chances. Not the best of first impressions, but eventually Damian will learn to accept, and secretly be impressed, by the work the trio does.
Bernard had fought them before, but more than trying to win he was trying to win enough time for either Tim get what he needed from wherever they have infiltrated, or for Darla to find a way to leave without letting the Bats follow them. Tim has definitely had a “fight” with Oracle, but honestly it was mostly for fun on both sides. And obviously Oracle wins, that’s not even a question, Oracle always wins.

Well That Happened Chapter 6
Diana led them to a separate room and had them all take a seat before handing out a questionnaire.
“These are how we choose what squadron you are first placed in; they also help choose what exactly you will be doing in your squad. It helps things move along more quickly.” Diana gestured for them to begin.
The room was silent, there was only Damian, his family, and Diana in the room, though they could still see people walking around through the window.
They all quickly finished their questionnaires, handing them over to Diana for their placements.
It didn’t take her long to decide.
“Bruce, you will be with me, a fellow dragon. Dick, you are a rabbit, I’ll assign a conductor to help you figure out what you will be doing. Jason, you are, unsurprisingly, a turtle. A knight to be specific, I’ll see where I can put you. Tim, you’re a fox, you are free to choose between an informant and an overseer.” It felt like she was giving a debrief in the cave, it was almost startling how familiar it was.
“Stephanie, you will be working with the Ladybugs as a healer. Cassandra, you are a bee, you’re free to pick between a caretaker or an agent. Duke, you will be working as a soothsayer, I have a feeling your particular talents will be helpful there. Damian, you will be working as a mouse scout. Basically, you are free to do as you see fit, though I do encourage you to find a fellow mouse o work alongside.” As Diana finished giving them their assignments, she pulled out a few papers from her folder, handing them to each of them.
The papers were basically the details of what they would be doing. Father would be a teacher/caretaker, helping out with the people based on where he was needed. Dick would be running around, making sure everyone was communicating with everyone else, so the plans went smoothly.
Jason would be out on the field, helping people get away from the danger and protecting them. Tim had an option, the same as Cass. He could stay in the hut, gathering information away from the fighting, or he could go in, staying just out of sight but collecting data that could be analyzed later.
Cass could choose to stay and help around the huts and shellters as a caretaker, same as father, or she could go out and try to hunt down the villain. Steph would be moved to wherever the most injured were, her EMT training coming in handy.
Duke would be working with the snakes, where he would be placed had yet to be decided but his gifts as a meta would certainly help him, being able to catch glances of the future would make him perfect for his role.
Everyone’s assignment made perfect sense, it followed with their talents and abilities. Everyone was a great match.
Damian had to hope his matched as well as everyone else’s.
He wasn’t even sure what he was supposed to do, Diana hadn’t been much help, neither had the paper explaining what he would do.
They were both frustratingly vague on what ‘Scouts’ do. Everyone else had clear instructions and he had been left with a simple, do what you think is needed.
How could he possibly know what was needed here? This was an entirely new beast with a perfectly organized counter measure in place. What if he made the wrong call?
Damian sighed, calming his mind. There was no time for him to lose it here, he would just have to hope for the best.
Diana led them back out the door and down a different hallway. They entered a gymnasium, filled with all kinds of equipment.
They were all fitted with gear, none of it was professional gear, only what could be pulled together on short notice. They all had one thing in common though, a colour scheme.
In order to get gear, you had to tell the people handing it out what squadron you were with, they would hand you clothes matching a certain theme.
It was supposed to help people differentiate who to go to for what, it also helped identify what job each person had.
Dragons wore red black and gold, Rabbits were in white and blue, turtles were, naturally green, and a few browns as well, mostly just earthen tones.
Foxes wore orange, all different shades of it. Ladybugs were red, a few items with black polka dots were thrown in as well, which made Steph laugh.
The bees wore yellow and black, stripes were optional, snakes wore teal and yellow, which was surprisingly not that bad a combination.
And mice wore, sigh, Damian was dressed in grey and pink. At least he wasn’t in a bright, neon colours, though he wished he could have at least some dark colour. The pastel colours were a complete 180 from how he usually dressed.
After they were dressed, they were given various items, which again, seemed scrounged together.
The items were more identifiers, pendants and bracelets and bandanas, really just anything they could get their hands on, that had a specific animal on them.
Damian received a necklace with a mouse on the pendant. Jason had a TMNT headband, and he was far too happy about it.
After they had received all of their gear, comms included, Diana led them back to Pegasus.
“We have returned, little horse. I was hoping to find some partners for them before sending them out, to help them get the hang of things. Do you know if anyone is available.” Diana questioned, looking at the projection that was still following the Princess.
She was yelling at a giant wolf, calling it a bad dog for trying to bite her. It looked sad. Damian felt sorry for it.
Damian’s attention was brought back to the conversation after getting nudged by Cass.
“I apologize, what did you say?” Damian questioned, turning his attention to Pegasus.
“I asked if you throw yourself into danger often.” Pegasus was staring into his soul, demanding an answer.
“No?” Damian was confused.
“Do you let the people around you recklessly throw themselves into danger? Do you encourage it?” Pegasus was standing up now, he was shorter than Damian, which surprised him.
“No, I don’t. Why are you asking?” Damian wanted some answers to this seemingly random questioning.
He didn’t get answers.
“Perfect, you are being paired with Princess. She needs someone to try and keep her out of too much trouble, or at least someone who can help her get back out of it. She hasn’t worked with you yet so she can’t say you two don’t work well together, or at least she can’t say that yet.” Pegasus brushed past him, it seemed that everyone else had already been paired up but he had no idea who was with who.
Pegasus opened a portal, turning towards the group.
“Comms stay on at all times, if you need help, call for help. Don’t let your pride get in the way, we have bigger problems and don’t need anyone adding onto the pile. The comms are all connected to the network, if you need to talk to someone just say it, someone will patch you through.” He nodded his head towards the portal.
“In you go.” They didn’t waste any more time, those going onto the field rushed through, finding themselves out on a battlefield.
Ruins were everywhere, and it was quiet.
Unsettlingly quiet.
From inside the hut, it had been nonstop noise, people shouting to other people, doors slamming, chairs scraping against the floor. It had been busy.
The silence was deafening.
Damian’s family nodded to each other before running off in different directions, leaving Damian standing there alone.
It seemed that everyone else already knew where they were going.
He really should have paid attention when Pegasus had been speaking. All he knew was that he was supposed to be with the Princess.
A boulder flew past him, crashing into a nearby building, Damian looked towards where it had come from.
Lo’ an behold, there she was. Sprinting across the rooftops as a giant threw boulders at her.
Damian heaved a sigh before running for a building, scaling up the side of it quickly, trying to catch up to her before she left him behind.
Damian she past him just as he made it up, he groaned, taking off after her.
There was no reason to be as fast as she was.
A boulder crashed next to him, far too close for comfort.
Scratch that, she had plenty reason to be fast.
He started running faster.

eh, it doesn't really read as sanctimonious. makes sense. do you do anything in particular to develop the internal worldview of characters and how they "tick", besides writing interactions? do you keep character profiles or anything of the like? have a good day, and thanks for answering the first ask :)
okay good, it might have sounded a little "touch grass" for a minute there...
=
hmm...i don't do formal "character building exercises" or the like. even those character questions tire me out.
but yeah i keep notes. example of older notes that have little points of character development or relevant parts of them popping up per chapter, vs the overall notes above the timeline (tim and jason were harder to nail down so i needed notes vs dick):
Tumblr media
or as @rozaceous has laughed at me... tallies and excel sheets, but those are so spoilery it's not even funny, but it'll be very funny to show when we get there bc. yeah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not organized like a profile, but the main drive to write is something about this character sticks out at you (if fandom-related), thus let yourself imagine whatever scenario about that character with that salient point as a start.
example: dick grayson accidental child acquisition bc he's the one nice enough for a "child" to approach + looks old enough + plausible reason to be away from oversight -> build out connection to his job, history, where he is in canon, current connections. and i didn't figure out everything since ch 1; it's like peeling an onion lol. and as long as you don't overdo what you depict, you always have room to reveal and develop more
(example, i didn't think too hard on his relationship w bruce, tim, and jason until i had to. but the room i left in how it was only about his interactions with korvin + him being someone mission focused out of necessity and habit means you don't have to constantly sadboi introspect)
(another thing is...people usually don't introspect too deep if they're decisive and take action a lot. they can't afford to. and people don't completely know themselves, so it's okay to be wrong, as long as their wrong answer leads to a logical wrong conclusion)
(or you're writing someone completely bonkers and loose, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but they still have their internal logic)
i balance between "lol wouldn't it be funny/sad/emotional if..." and vetting for the blorbo in question to connect it back to their canon. because the first part drives the desire to write, and the second makes the what-if have impact imo.
(you can kinda see that process happen simultaneously when i answer au what-ifs--unless something got posed where the central conceit was too far removed from the original point of the divergence)
when i don't need to iron out details i usually don't note it down, because i can always refer back to my previous bits or it's very obvious to me from the canon. if it's a difficult aspect to nail down, i take notes and keep them as an example to refer to.
i also walk a fine line between depicting idiosyncrasies vs flanderization. people are creatures of habit, right? but it's too easy to use that as a way to easily make characters distinguishable that it's like an overwrought performance rather than one of many traits in a complex individual. i keep habits in mind bc they're usually easy enough to remember by the time i'm writing out a whole thing vs note taking.
e.g. i wonder if you notice that in dick in my chapters doesn't swear much until he's under duress? he's very controlled, very practiced in keeping the mood light, such that it's just part of his internal narration.
Vs. babs, i have her more readily to be sharp and swear bc that's indicative of someone who's less outward facing on the daily compared to dick (she's only 2-3 years out from her injury and becoming oracle, and you need to imagine how someone who used to be so able as to be batgirl would feel to lose use of her legs. even if she does eventually accept her new state of being, it still sucks to say the least)
he's also an adult with a job (haha real life example), so his immediate concerns are very different from tim's as a comparison point.
=
there's not a hard formula. just take notes as you think (notepad, phone, computer), use the fun of blorbos and fandom to motivate you, and don't be afraid to revise and correct yourself. and don't let organization paralyze you (don't let perfect be the enemy of good).
uh...the easiest things for me to keep in mind are: vocab (internal and external voice), initiative (active/reactive or passive person), and mindset focus (do they introspect more or spend more time observing others)? -> and then i build out from there
and when you finally write something, read it out loud to yourself. make different voices. it's pretty easy to find when someone will say a thing vs if no one on their life would say that vs only an anime character would say that

1, 5, 7, 8, 4, 11 and 15 for the problematique ships??
oh wow, that's a lot! thank you!
1) what is your favorite “problematic” ship?
Brujay. It is very interesting to get their canon mutual weirdness - their relationship is a mess, it's not healthy - and bring it up to 11. Both because it's like magnifying what's already there, to make it easier to drive things home: none of them is okay and they should, in fact, stay away from each other despite the fact it wouldn't be that hard not just to reconcile but also to respect each other and be deserving of said respect.
It's also curious to me that a lot of Bruce's fan ships are actually... have similar vibes to brujay, minus the "I was his father for 3 years or so" factor. BatCat - I can write an essay about similarities between Jason and Catwoman, and Jason actually feels jealous and replaced by her, at some point in his Robin era. BruTalia, BruHarvey, GhostBat. Especially the GhostBat. It's literally brujay without the incest. Whereas Jason's ships are the opposite. Like, Sladejay comes close but no cigar.
5) a ship you like but can’t find content for because it’s a fanpol fave?
I am like Jaytemis but not enough to go looking. I actually blocked a lot of jaytemis fans because they were dicks in tag. and on some discord server, don't remember details.
7) what kind of “problematic” tropes you like to put your ships through?
Sex while willingly or unwillingly mentally impaired, such as by alcohol (taken willingly), drugs (taken unwillingly), interdimensional demon possession, and having heat while also having a traumatic brain injury. There's also having sex not because you want but for reasons. Proving a point. Trying to manipulate. Things like that.
I think I have about... two fics where a character has sex because they want to have sex, and it ends badly in the second one.
Basically the moral of my stories:
Tumblr media
In one of them, it was quite literal.
8) a character you think did nothing wrong but fandom demonizes?
Damian, easy. I find it irritating especially when he's used as Tim's foil. The little guy was brainwashed, and he still is dealing with the consequences of this trauma and his upbringing overall. It takes years to unpack it.
Talia - just leave her alone. "She traumatized Damian" - the authors did that. She was just a tool, and she was character-assassinated in the process. I mean, it is a bit wrong of her to be, like, in charge of an international murder organization but, we all know what the grip fandom has with her is not about that.
4) a ship you think is fairly healthy and unproblematic but the fandom has decided to hate?
JayRoy and joyfire holy shit. I know it stems, in part, from the hatred to New52 overall and Lobdell's RHatO in particular, and I hear them even if I don't care that much (I see jayroy potential even before New52, and after). But "stealing friends from Dick", "age difference", what the fuck else there was - just no. As long as Jason deals with his commitment issues and self-hatred, this is the healthiest relationship he has ever had with the exception of Artemis and Bizarro.
11) is there a fandom that ever made you think “how are there antis in this fandom, why are they even into this”?
Hannibal, Good Omens, and Sandman, to name a few. Curious that they think that if the creator has public acknowledgment it means that suddenly he's not proship anymore. Or if he is, that's okay, we won't be principled and leave/not join the fandom but rather go bully the proshippers who do not have money and fame.
Oh, and Game of Thrones/House of Dragons - while I don't know if Martin is proship, the subject matter he deals with is no more taboo than what fandom does. "I watch dragon incest show for the dragons, y'all weird" no it's you who's weird, you literally watching a show about incest and complaining about incest. "it's not glorified in canon" That's cute, you sure it is in fics? you read them? you read incest fics? Like, come on.
15) something cool about the last thing you watched/read/listened to!
Last thing I listened to was this youtube comics podcast: Grandpas reading comics (eng subs are only auto-translated so bear with it)
youtube
It's about Ukrainian comics, The Will, and as a person who has two issues of this comic book and no idea of what's going on, I was glad to find out this video exist. I did not finish watching it yet tho - so I still have no idea what's going on - I will keep you guys posted. After I buy the issue 3, maybe.
