No, I don’t like proship personally, it weirds me out, but majority of my followers are thorkis tbh and they’ve been rly cool and nice people. You can also like a ship and not want it to be canon. Met a lot of Lokius and FrostIron shippers like that. one of the things that was so special about this fandom back in the day was how good we largely were about just like. coexisting, happily. the thorkis rubbed shoulders with the people who only broTP'ed them and with people who shipped other thor or loki ships but who nonetheless couldn't help but acknowledge their canonical importance in each other's lives, and the sheer overlap of those categories, because the main thing was that these two characters were essential to each other and that their relationship was essential to what made us care about the fandom in general. thorkis made tons of gen works, people who didn't ship it were often totally fine with people looking at their stuff through shipper goggles, we were totally able to have enjoyable meta discussions... not saying it was perfect and conflict-free, but in general, we supported each others' work regardless of whether we shipped thorki romantically or not, because we were still all on that same axis of "these two characters' relationship is interesting, compelling, worth thinking about and discussing and making art and stories about, regardless of exactly how you interpret the details of that relationship" and honestly I think that blurring of the line between shipping and gen is part of what gave the fandom the longevity and strength that it did have, because it gave just that much more richness and dimension to the ways people could approach the material and still find plenty of fellow fans to talk about it with.

Either way, it's no surprise that the thorki shippers were such a solid foundation of the fandom (i mean, we are on the shipping website for shippers) given just how compelling that relationship was in the earlier canon installments. it's also no surprise that canon taking a hard turn away from even mentioning the other one in their respective separate media has coincided with the active fanbase essentially evaporating, and so many of the new people deciding that AKSHULLY their relationship is irrelevant, any common ground with other fans is to be deliberately shunned, and attempted ship wars and harassment and anti-ism are the hot new trends. It's also also no surprise that the handful of remaining stubborn cockroach motherfuckers from the old fandom are stubbornly continuing to do what we've always done.

in any case, i appreciate you and every other non-thorki in the fandom who is still out there willing to share that common ground of "these two characters' relationship is important and interesting and that's what we're all here for," because fandom is just so much more pleasant that way. Covenant by RobotSquid (Marvel ; Thor/Loki)

One of three binds I did in 2023 along with What Kacchan Wants by heartsinhay and an updated author's copy of Heartworms by geckocest. As I mentioned in my last post, 2023 saw me losing some of my passion for this hobby. WKW helped bring that passion back, as did this project.

I've been a Thorki fan for a long time. Like, a really long time. I've read a lot of fics over the years and Covenant is easily in my top 5. Re-reading it while working on this bind was a treat.

Usually, when I bind a book, I plan out the typeset first and then search for suitable bookcloth, cover papers, endpapers, etc. This time, I saw the Gold & Blue Kikkou papers and created the design around that. The design just screamed "Jotun royalty" to me.

This was also my first time using ribbon charms. I originally looked for one that would give a similar vibe to the hair brooch Thor gifted Loki in the story (one of my favorite scenes). Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything similar, so I opted for this aesthetic key instead.

I somehow forgot to take a pic of the endpapers, but they're these gorgeous gold Chiyogami papers from ChibiJayShop.

do you mind sharing your opinions about Sylki compared to Thorki?

my perspective is that Thorki is like a 500$ gourmet meal,while Sylki is like the school's dry ass domino's pizza.

pretty much. I mean obviously everyone is free to ship or not ship whatever they like as long as they don’t bother people. but yeah I find sylki utterly dull and uncompelling. I mean. first of all. the character in the loki tv series is not Loki. (I like to call him Larry). he’s just some dumb boring clown. so he’s not interesting. but he seems positively well written compared to Sylvie, who is literally a textbook Mary Sue. 

pretty sure she’s just the director Kate Herron’s dumb poorly written op self insert oc and they just added the whole thing about her being a Loki so they could justify having the whole show be about her. She has literally no personality other than #girlboss (which btw is a trope I hate that is grounded in sexism bc it reduces women to empty caricatures defined by their gender rather than showing them as actual real complex human people). 

so yeah. a ship between 2 boring and dull characters is not something I’m interested in. plus on top of that there’s no basis for romance. they have nothing in common. they have no interesting antagonism either so it’s not even a good enemy ship like kylux or lawlight. they have known each other for all of 5 minutes so there’s no buildup or relationship history. honestly they make no sense together. the show just randomly shoved them together. so yeah. I find nothing about it interesting. 

Plus I find it very upsetting that she treats Larry horribly but the show frames her mistreatment of him as cute and acceptable rather than abusive. This is really problematic. And I bet if their genders were reversed more people would see it. I’m not against dark ships at all. But when a dark ship is framed as cute and fluffy I think that’s a problem. 

The one thing I do like about it is that it accidentally further makes thorki canon. I mean. I don’t consider the show canon. Except for when it’s funny. and it’s hilarious that according to the show’s canon Loki’s type is “temperamental blond who breaks stuff and is a relative”. like the only explanation for him getting with her after knowing her for 2 seconds is that she reminds him of Thor. it’s hilarious.

What are your thoughts on the “Mobius is called Don, and there's a chance he's actually Donald Blake” theory? Because I can't help but laugh out loud like a madman just by thinking there's a chance that us Lokius shippers were shipping Thorki all along LMAOOOO CAN YOU IMAGINE?

In fact, it's just early morning in my country, and I've almost gone crazy. I opened the tumblr and the first thing I saw was a million posts about Mobius' real name being Don. And I looked through all these posts, but I didn't find where this information came from at all. It's killing me, what happened?

And, oh, you asked a question. In general, I think it's absolutely crazy and hot that thorki can be lokius. But forget about me, imagine how Loki would feel if he realized that he had been in love with his brother all this time (some things never change).

But actually, I think it doesn't work that way a bit, after all, not only Thor was Donald Blake. And it seems to me that this theory is much more beautiful and plausible, because:

1. I am sure that the mention of Balder in episode 3 was made for a reason.

2. "Balder the Brave". The way Mobius admires him makes me think that Mobius likes heroes and being a hero.

3. "Why'd they include Balder. No one's even heard of him." Just imagine that Loki fell in love with someone who was of no interest to him.

4. In mythology, Loki caused Balder's death, which makes their relationship even more tragic.

So, yes, I believe that.

I have been lucky! No hate so far, just some very astute fans of canon that have pointed out inconsistencies haha (which is 100% acceptable)

Select lines yes, I have for Love and Devotion since the original content is in Chinese and that's my second language, but entire chunks? Definitely not. I usually just do italics to signify another language haha.
