Hey do yous want to see my favourite bit from the first Thor film? It's this bit:
Tumblr media
What's going on here? Why would anyone be standing behind that big gold pillar for any reason other than to slink out from behind it? There's nothing there! Not even the sinister shadows that I suspect were supposed to be on that part of the set.
Tumblr media
Oh ho ho, here we go, here we goooooo!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yeah, I absolutely 100% trust whatever this lad's about to say. That's the least shifty approach I've ever seen in my life. He barely even skulked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listen to him, Thor! I don't care what he's saying to you, it's definitely good advice whatever it is. See how he's leaning towards you in a completely un-conspiratorial manner, speaking quietly because he knows you're a sensitive type who gets nervous around loud noises. This is really good advice. You can tell because he looks so earnest.
Tumblr media
Oh and here come some witnesses! I mean your friends!
Tumblr media
You can safely ignore whatever he's saying now though, Thor. He's obviously got a bit intimidated by the success that lies ahead when you carry out this amazing plan that you've just come up with all by yourself after he suggested it.
Tumblr media
Oof, he's very against you doing that thing that you're about to do! He's sooooo disappointed with the way this is going. He's just said it's madness! In a loud, clear voice that should have carried across the room quite well.
I wonder if any of the witnesses overheard that part of the conversation?
Tumblr media
Aye. Aye, they did :)

Are people srsly considering the scene where loki calls the NYC Incident "feelings getting out of hand" as good?
He would never fucking say that, man.
It is canon that he was tortured to do it. He was a whole damn mess during that whole thing and now its played down and straight up denied.
Am I missing something?

So, 4 years ago today, That Movie We Don't Talk About officially hit theatres and to "celebrate" I could write up another post on why it is a horrible no good bad movie that fucked over so many beloved characters and relationships and screwed up the MCU for the foreseeable future—well, until the inevitable full-fledged reboot that, make no mistake, will happen one day.
Or instead, I could just leave you with this quote from a wonderful fanfic, written all the way back in 2014 (!):
The temptation’s right there in front of him, it’s all around him. Stay and fix it. Stay and somehow get it right. The comfort of the past made safe by the knowledge of the future. He wants it so badly—a version of history designed to his personal specifications, dangling here in front of him like shining, low-hanging fruit—but the depth of his desire only reinforces his bone-deep certainty that it would be a trick, a cheat. Just another way of freezing himself in a past that’s gone, lingering too long in an impossible dream while the world moves on without him. “I don’t want to be a ghost moving through history. I want us to be real—you and me, Bucky.”

I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and I felt like it really solidified one of the reasons why Endgame just did not work in my opinion which was that none of the characters whose stories were ending in that movie actually got a proper send-off that was focused on them. This is because, in Endgame, everything was taking place in the midst of a much larger story where a major goal was still to set up future storylines and ultimately to try to give partial or equal focus to a really unreasonable number of characters. I always hate on Steve’s ending in particular and while I do definitely think it was a majorly poor choice for his character in general it was also just really rushed and didn’t make sense given the pretty minimal amount of time that was allocated to his character in that movie, whereas if Steve had gotten to go out on a final Captain America movie I’m sure it would have been much more likely for him to get an ending that actually aligned with his arc as a whole and within that film. Plus, characters that are so well established deserve to get a real conclusion that is focused on them! And it worked so well in GOTG3 to actually have that but I couldn’t believe it when I realized that this is the first time in the MCU that a series has gotten to end in that way. I feel like it really goes to show how much this type of franchise storytelling wrecks character arcs more often than not because the priority is always the bigger picture rather than the individual story, and I’m happy Guardians got to end in this way but the other characters should have gotten that too :(

no but listen i am constantly thinking about the mcu and other franchises like star wars and dc have tried to replicated their cinematic universe and i think the problem is that these big budget movies aren't willing to commit to the concept of a stand alone film. the entire reason avengers (2012) actually works is because all of the movies beforehand were complete stand alone action flicks that tied into the same universe only by a few end credit scenes and the fact that SHIELD was at least mentioned in each movie. when you go over to the DCEU they're trying so hard to get to the justice league and they haven't even made a batman movie yet!!!
i also think this is why the mcu started sucking after age of ultron because they stopped making stand alone movies and instead made a cinematic experience where you had to go to antman: 17 revenge of the cockroaches just so you could see an ensemble movie where deadpool crosses the multiverse to find spiderman's girlfriend for an ocean's 11 team up with moon knight

“Every breath you take” by the police and “Somebody’s watching me” by Rockwell is such a good stalker-victim parallel that I’m surprised no one’s really capitalize on it.

Ok I guess mcu is calling Monica rambeau photon. That’s so dumb, it makes her sound weak like a single photon of light. Spectrum sounds better, more unique, and literally describes her goddamn powers.

thought I keep having about Bucky:
The Winter Soldier is often referred to as an ‘assassin,’ but:
an assassin is a respected freelancer
who gets to voluntarily choose that profession
to choose what contracts they take
AND gets paid at the end.
Bucky doesn't meet any of those criteria!
