I'm thinking about the fact that peter calls rocket his best friend multiple times throughout the movie, and with gamora gone, he's definitely the guardian peter is closest to.

rocket is currently the person peter loves most in this world. and it makes his desperation to save him hit so much harder. he just lost the person he loved most in the world, and he can't go through that pain again.

"i'm not letting him go!" he can't let him go. he wouldn't survive going through that again.

I NEED to talk about how during the last big scene of moving the kids to the home ship, Peter asks Nebula "where's rocket?!" And how SCARED she looks?? She's immediately worried and panicked when she notices Rocket's no where to be found. My heart.

Not only that, but when they went back for him, it wasn't just her going back into the dying ship to find him, it was ALL OF THEM. Everyone immediately went back into a ship about to explode because they couldn't leave one of their own.

God this movie destroyed me

Thinking about how Thanos’ “love” for Gamora was illustrated in Infinity War by showing he had the “strength” to murder her – treating her like a precious object to be discarded – while Peter’s love for Gamora is illustrated in GotG3 by his recognition that she is her own person and that he does not control her, recognizing her agency.

It feels like such a repudiation of Thanos' bullshit and I appreciated the contrast.

i genuinely don't think that there's ever going to be another franchise like guardians. i can't put my finger on what it is, but they're all filled with so much heart compared to the rest of the MCU. they've all been consistently good, and gotg 3 was maybe the best one yet - and imo the best marvel movie ive seen in a while.

im so grateful for the happy ending we got, and im so sad to see this franchise go. it really healed part of my MCU fatigue tbh, like especially in how the guardians got absolutely shafted in infinity war / endgame. they're so good, and im going to miss them so much.
