Book of the Week No. 2 Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher Rate: 9/10 Favorite Line: "You can't go back to how things were. How you thought they were. All you really have is... now." Review: This book is a critically-panned young-adult novel of Jay Asher published originally in the year 2007. The story goes after Clay Jensen, and when he unexpectedly received a box of cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker—his classmate and secret crush—who commited suicide two weeks earlier. This has received much criticisms from the media, crowd and even other authors. This is due to the reason that it tackles one of the sensitive facets for a young adult novel: Suicide. The way it was written is truly perfected by Jay Asher as if I would never even think of other author to have written this book. Also, praise to the creative chapter naming convention which really (I think) resulted why it is a page turner. Every sides of the tapes offer a thrilling journey. I have read this back in year 2013 in pdf and now on my deluxe edition hardbound. And I can say that, the suspense is still there even on the second read! The only thing that really makes me think about the aspect of the book is that it somehow glorifies (not at peak level though) suicide. It is wrong, I know. But, there is something in this story that is really inspiring. TO NOT DO SUICIDE AND FIND MEANING IN WHAT YOU DID/DO IN LIFE. I know we have differing coping mechanisms and this book shows the importance of friends / others that would help/hold you along. This book is like a diamond, made of entirely carbon (bad element, dark stuff) but still refracts the best of light. If You Have Nothing Nice To Say, Don't Say Anything At All.

Some people enjoy TV shows that you don't. It is pointless to complain about a fictional show with fiction characters. I have plenty of shows I really enjoy that have story lines I hate and problematic moments. Even though these shows have some moments or many moments I don't like, I won't publicly hate on it.

People enjoy different things so even if you completely hate a show there is no real reason to trash it and hate on it online. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but putting the name of the show in your tags is a sucky thing to do. If there is an anti tag for that specific show then use that.

Posting every reason you hate a show with tags so people who actually enjoy the show can see it, it's wrong. Hate the show, tag your stuff anti and stay in a group of people with the same mindset as you.

There is a ton of stuff going on in the world right now and when there is nothing else to do and people have their favourite TV shows and online forums about the show they like. So when they go to hopefully enjoy that show with other people who also enjoy it and your hateful opinions about the show crowd their feed it just makes them feel bad and it is honestly tiring.

Constructive criticism and having an opinion is fine but forcing people that actually enjoy a show and maybe even use that show as an escape from the drama in their lives to see how much you hate that show is a sucky thing to do.

Be kind and let people enjoy whatever shows they like. We all enjoy love and comfort and a place where we can talk about why we enjoy what we enjoy. I love you and hope you know this is not criticism just some food for thought. Also I mean no offense by this post it ID just my thoughts and feelings and again, food for thought.

This is going to fly over a lot of people’s heads but ANI ACHOLA isn’t even the worse person on the show. I think Clay and Alex are annoying but you don’t see me harassing and BULLYING those actors. You’re not even watching the show for the messages at this point and it’s disgusting. Alex still entertained Bryce eventho he hurt the TWO most important people in his life. Clay FORCED Jessica to open up about her story. Where was this alliance for the victims then? Ani May have done some shitty stuff but in NO way is it worse than what some of these other characters have done. Just say you don’t like her bc she doesnt look like you and grow the fuck up. If it was really about her character, you guys would’ve been attacking the writers room, not the fucking actress bringing THEIR character to life. I hate that they made her sleep with Bryce too but I can see that that’s not the most fucked up thing in the show and characters who have done similar or even worse shit aren’t getting this much backlash.

Hey, My name is Cece and I’m a nasty ass biiiitch!!! My favourite character from 13rw as you can probably guess is Montgomer De La Cruz. That man can break my bones, please and thank you. So to start off my first post I decided to write a Monty Imagine. You’re welcome. And btw all of the girls who like Monty, yall either have daddy issues, daddy kinks or both. Same.

I walked down the corridor, hoping he wouldn’t see me. I felt like running away. Me and Monty broke up- well I broke up with him. I just have too much going on in my life and I don’t want him to get hurt. So I had to. If I’m honest I wasn’t expecting him to be as upset as he was...he almost cried. Of course I felt guilty and I was hurting too but It was the right thing to do....right?

“Y/N!” I heard from behind me. I awkwardly smiled, turning around to see Montgomery jogging up to me. He looked awful. Usually he looks well rested and healthy...but today he looked sleep deprived and depressed. Shit. “Hey, Monty” I greeted, looking at the floor. I couldn’t look him in the eyes. “Can we talk, alone? I really do love you, unlike anyone else. And I don’t wanna lose you that easily” He said, his eyes soft and his lips frowned. I sighed and shook my head, If I looked at him or said anything I’d definitely start crying. Pull yourself together!

I hated this, I couldn’t eat at lunch because normally I’d have him by my side. My anxiety was through the roof and until now, I never really realised how much I needed him. But he didn’t deserve a piece of shit like me. I made it to the car park, ready to leave school when Zach Dempsey came rushing up to me. He pulled my arm and dragged me to the back of the school. “Zach! What the fuck?!” I shouted, oblivious to whag was going on. He stopped me and infront I saw Monty, punching the crap out of Jeff Atkins- my best friend. He’s the one who gave the advice to break up with Monty. He said it was for my own good but I did it to protect Monty.

“Monty! Get off him!” I demanded, rushing over to push Monty off of Jeff with my foot. He soon fell back and I was able to get between the two boys. “What the fucking hell is going on here? Monty you’re such an asshole! Somebody explain before I beat everyones ass!” I shouted, staring at the few jocks around me. A bunch of ‘ohs’ could be heard and I glared at the boys making the noises. “He made you break up with me! Didn’t he?!” Monty asked loudly. I crossed my arms and groaned, pulling monty by the ear to a spot where we could talk alone.

“First of all, De La Cruz, It was my choice to break up with you because I have so much bullshit going on in my life. I didn’t want you to get hurt! Did you even think of that? Of course you didn’t because you were too busy shoving your head up your own arse to realise it. Secondly, Jeff only made a suggestion so you should go and fucking apologise right now.” I told him sternly. This is what drew me and Monty together. We were both hot heads. “Wha- you could have told me! You could have said something Y/N. I fucking love you, okay. You’re my baby and I always want what’s best for you. We’re supposed to be in this together. So whatever you’re dealing with, I’m dealing with too now. Because you are NOT breaking up with me!” He said, his voice breaking.

My heart felt sore, like it was cracking again. He sniffled and looked down at me. He pulled me for an unexpected hug and a small tear fell on my head. “Please don’t leave me...you’re all I got” He whispered. In that moment, I knew he was genuine about his feelings. I took a few deep breaths a held onto him too. We soon pulled away and I smiled up at him. “You need to apologise to Jeff, please baby.” I told him, wiping away any other tears. He nodded and wiped his nose with his flannel shirt. “That’s gross.” I commented and we both shared a small laugh. He walked up to Jeff, presumably apologising. They seemed cool after that.

Monty escorted me to my car and sat inside with me. “Tell me, What’s going on” He began, hand on my knee. I took a deep sigh and started to explain “My parents are divorcing and I was afraid that I would go back to my old ways...smoking...drinking....drugs” I admitted. Monty put his hand on my cheek and I felt instantly safe. “It’s okay babygirl. I’m here, I’m gonna make sure you keep clean for good” He reassured me. I sniffled and he chuckled. “God, today is so emotional.” He commented, wiping a tear from my eye. “I love you.” He whispered before locking our lips. I was taken aback for a second but soon kissed back, smiling and speeding up with him. I do love him. I love him. I love Montgomery De La Cruz. And that’s for goddam sure.
