Female thinness and youth are not in themselves next to godliness in this culture. Society really doesn’t care about women’s appearance per se. What genuinely matters is that women remain willing to let others tell them what they can and cannot have. Women are watched, in other words, not to make sure that they will “be good,” but to make sure that they will know they are being watched.

Fatspo rant
Dived into ed Twitter and I was rlly surprised at the amount of fatspo it contains :/
Fatspo is lowkey such a messed up and disgusting way of "encouraging" eachother to get skinny. I hate seeing it cuz it scares the living shit out of me to the point my legs fell weak and then I feel bad for feeling that way.
I love this community I really do but fatspo is for real crossing the line. And sometimes pictures of girls who aren't even overweight or fat are used ???? I can't imagine how much that hurts them. So if you actively seek out fatspo, call people's bodychecks fatspo or enjoy it to feel supreme or some shit fuck you. Ur disorder doesn't give you the damn excuse to be a shitty person.

uh, more art with Error.. (will be ready soon more accurately) I decided to draw her without a sweater or jacket (depending on the design) to show her thinness.. in theory, she shouldn’t look great, but it seems to me that either I went too far or didn’t get enough😔😔😔

CW for text below: weight, body size, obesity, etc.
So like, I'm watching this Saberspark video about Drawn together, and I just have to say...
... The fact that the whole joke with the Betty Boop character was "lol Betty Boop was fat" is like, literally the most 2000s thing ever, but not in a good way.
Having grown up in that era, I can assure you that the joke was not "lol wouldn't it be funny if Betty Boop were fat?" It was "lol Betty Boop was kinda legit tubby."
Like, look, I grew up female and fat in the late '90s and 2000s. I can assure you that body standards were legit kinda fucked up back then.
Nothing wrong with being thin, I'm thin myself. It's what I prefer for myself aesthetically. But people really took it way the fuck too far during that time period.
Remember that time they convinced us all that Britney circa her 2007 VMAs performance was "omg so hideously fat"?? Like, sure, she wasn't thin at that moment in time, but I vividly remember one comment from a Cracked.com author on the subject around that time: "If she were just the chick in the cubicle next to yours, you'd probably be hitting on her."
It does not strain belief for me at all that some asshat brodude in like 2002 would legit have looked at an old image of Betty Boop and considered her "fat." We had crazy fucked up standards of what "fat" was -- ironically, of course, amid the rise of a surging obesity epidemic.
