& added on because i had no further space but the company behind this show is incredibly antiblack. there was documented abuse of a notable black woman, including telling her to kill herself & writing the n slur around the workplace that continued until hr famous father had to get involved & call them out.
miles has said the n slur. other employees have done blackface & also said antiblack slurs. various antiblack stereotypes have also been employed in the show, including the basis of flynt's entire character.
as well as centering all of these black characters around their white counterparts. they are not allowed to exist in their own space without becoming a white characters subservient, villain or thrown off screen.

Sometimes I am concerned about the hate anons. The extreme hate spreading, the accusatory tones towards critics, the weird vibe of "You're all terrible for the way you think and act?" Very cult like. And honestly, I'm just here wondering if their friend circles will threaten abandonment or smth because this is just wild.
I think it’s like three people max (at least one of whom is probably an outright child) and they’re all terrified of not being part of that group anymore. The takes are too braindead to be genuine.

Mai: Could you pass away?

Setting aside the obvious massacre of the villagers and the guilt Maria would have felt over that alone, I think it’s brilliant that what probably pushed her over the edge to the point where she actually felt the need to completely bury her past was the violation of a mother and child.
Maria’s life as a hunter was, likely in her mind, dedicated to protecting innocent people, especially those as vulnerable as mothers with their infants.
But to oversee the dissection and brutalization of a god-mother with such an obviously humanoid face and child….to watch the infant itself be ripped from the womb and its umbilical cord severed….yeah, of course she didn’t want anyone to see that. I can’t even blame her for fighting to hide it, because that is just horrendous.
But at the same time, the concept that what forms Maria’s nightmare is a loop where she fights to conceal the truth is fascinating to me. She was only free when her sins were revealed and she could stop fighting to hide them.

You're going to regret being mean to me when I get super powerful and cool, Minthara D< Just watch me romance Astarion again and know that it could have been you if you hadn't called me an abomination.
… and yes, obviously I'm romancing her in another playthrough with an evil drow. As if I wouldn't be batting my eyelashes at a mean drow woman.
We've got a support system for drow lovers over at Patreon, society6, and redbubble. It's... mostly talking about how much we love drow though.

I assure everyone that I would never give JJ Abrams of all people credit he doesn't deserve. But the man has given multiple interviews over the course of the last nine years about the narrative trajectory he originally envisioned when he, Michael Arndt, and Lawrence Kasden created The Force Awakens. I'd have to be both flat-out stupid and ignoring basic tenets of media literacy to pretend he didn't set up clear and obvious character arcs for the new cast of characters in TFA that Rian Johnson then deliberately chose to ignore

Demon Slayer for the new ask game :3
GIVE ME A FANDOM & I'LL TELL YOU:
my favorite female character: mitsuri hands down. my blorbo.
my favorite male character: tengen or obanai.
my favorite book/season/etc: the entertainment district arc.
my favorite episode: layered memories from season 2.
my favorite cast member: i don't know about any of the cast members & i want it to stay that way lmao.
my favorite ship: obamitsu, giyushino, giyushinoyae, inotan, nezumitsu, tamashino, inonezu.
a character i’d die defending: mitsuri, i have to defend her from the fandom weirdos. throw in shinobu & daki too.
a character I just can’t sympathize with: none? like all that are meant to be sympathized with have very compelling reasons to do so, while those that don't like douma or muzan are interesting in other ways.
a character i grew to love: muichiro, i was already obsessed with others like tengen, obanai & mitsuri that he slid under my radar for a while. the recent season has done a lot to help with that.
my anti otp: zennezu lmao.

Imagine being a teenage githyanki and some fucking half elf monk called “The Dark Urge” goes up to your teacher like “I’ll stab him for you, I’d like to stab him, let me stab him, I will stab him, would you like for me to stab him? I like stabbing. I do it for free.” And then your teacher fucking lets him stab you.

So, having finally come to the conclusion of Astarion's questline--having romanced him, too--I think I finally understand what bothers me about the whole train of thought of "fixing him" that seems so pervasive. It's that helping him choose to be the better person, to do the objectively right thing, IS NOT the start of a redemption arc. There is no real redemption for anything he did in the past 200 years; he says this himself. There is no "fixing" anything, people's lives have been irrevocably ruined, STOLEN from them, and he may not have done it himself but he is 100% to blame for having gotten them there in the first place. HE KNOWS THIS.
There is zero redemption for Astarion, but again his story isn't about redemption. Astarion's story is that of a victim overcoming the centuries of trauma and abuse and deciding, no, I can be something BETTER than what you made me. I CAN BE BETTER THAN YOU.
Astarion, with enough care and pushing from the PC, can choose to end the cycle of hatred and abuse by cutting it off at the source. From there he can choose to cast it off and free the other victims rather than using them for his own ends. He can make the choice to BE BETTER. That does not absolve him of his guilt, which he has pointed out several, SEVERAL times previously, and he'll have to live with that. BUT he gets to live it as a free man making his own decisions and having cast off the shadows that bound him into a form he no longer recognized.
Astarion does not need to be redeemed and the writers knew this. What he needed was someone who cared enough to show him that he could be better than what some abusive cockwaffle told him he could be, that freedom did not have to come at the expense of other victims, and that not everyone in the world only wanted to use him. Astarion is as much a victim as everyone else, and you can see how Cazador's exact thought processes went if you talk to the skull of his sire. That is what Astarion can be, depending on your own choices and how you approach him, or he can be himself and take the time, once the tadpole situation is dealt with, to figure out EXACTLY who that is now.

you know what would have been funny? i was busy thinking of some Imperial! Anidala AUs and there's one which just crossed my mind.
Imagine Padmé joins Vader on Mustafar, Vader beats Obi, and kills Sidious to take over. Vader tries to deepen his connection to the Dark Side as he and Padmé rule over the galaxy. Vader tries to portray himself as this evil, fearsome autocrat but is way too popular: he doesn't create the Death Star because neither he nor Padmé likes it, he abolishes slavery because duh, literally all of the clones (they don't get replaced) love him, he's still seen as the war hero, he's very handsome, and Padmé's presence + coregency mellows him out a lot. Padmé and his children are also there, and his love for them is wayyyyyy too much that he isn't nearly as evil and dark as he should be
Eventually, Vader comes to Padmé crying about how his connection to the Dark Side is weakening because of how much he loves her and the children and how he can't fuel his inner darkness anymore. He isn't really a Sith anymore and eventually Padmé convinces him to just let it go, renounce his darkness, and let the love flow through him so now he's just emperor anakin, former jedi and failed sith
emperor vader: suffering from success

How did you decide Leopard killed Crooked via poisoning, or was that from one of your AUs? If so, which AU does that come from?
It's gone through incarnations. I'm still very fond of the idea that both he and she have a form of diabetes, and because of that, she knew how to fuck with his doseage and just weaken him without killing him outright.
But then I wasn't sure if that would be in good taste or not, so I've swapped it over to just good old fashioned poisoning for now.
The original idea of Leopardstar poisoning Crookedstar started with Fire and Water iirc, which is an AU written by someone else following a RiverClan Firestar. I can't recommend that fic enough, but I also remember getting the poisoning as ask suggestions a few times.
But anyway it's always been BB, and goes back to when I was still calling it the Bonefall Rewrite. I think it's fitting for her and her ambition, as something underhanded and dishonorable that she felt was neccesary but still regrets.

everything about husk makes me insane. Hes a bitter old alcoholic with a heart of gold. He is owned by alastor. He’s pansexual. He used to be an overlord himself, opening the door for SO many storytelling possibilities. Gave it up for reasons not entirely disclosed. Holy shit husk forever
