"Mario, I'm sorry to say this, but she is even a real person?" Peach asked as she put in her earrings, looking a Mario through the mirror.
Mario sighed, "Honestly, I have never met her, but he talks about her constantly, and he's my little brother, so I'm not just going to tell him she's not real."
"I'm going to trust the both of you to the best of my ability." She tells him, standing up from the vanity.
They leave the room to find Luigi, "Get ahold of her yet?" Mario asks, Luigi nods, "Yes, but she might be a bit late. She has some personal things to take care of."
Mario catches Peach eyeing him, and Mario shrugs in return. They all walk out the door to head to their dinner spot, Mario decided on a place in Brooklyn.
Peach and Mario decide to go inside while Luigi says he's going to stay outside and wait for you. They just let him be and go to find their seat.
He's standing out there already for a good 10 minutes when he catches a familiar face on the side of his eye.
"Well, if it isn't one of the infamous Mario Brothers."
"Spike."
"And what might you he doing out here?"
"I'm waiting on my girlfriend, don't know if you've ever heard of those."
"And where might she be, pretty boy?" He makes a hand gesture above his eyes and takes a look around.
Luigi is trying to find the words. When he opens his mouth to speak, he's interrupted.
"Oh, that's right, she doesn't exist."
He starts to laugh but is shortly cut off, "Well that's hurtful."
Spike turns around and has to look up due to your heels. "Bullying at your age is highly outdated." You inform him, Spike can't even muster up any words.
You push him by the shoulder to the side, "Exuse me."
You smother your boyfriend in kisses, causing him to swoon, "I'm so so so sorry I could have come earlier!"
"I wasn't waiting long!" He assures you. You both walk into the restaurant, leaving Spike in the dust, awestruck.
You both scan around until you find Peach and Mario sitting at a table, the two of you speed walk over, "Did we miss anything?" Luigi asks.
Mario looks up from the menu, his jaw drops as he makes eye contact, Peach glances over at Mario, then to where his eyes are staring.

"Hi, it's so nice to finally meet you, I'm Y/N!"

It has been a week since your fight with Sunwoo. Soeun chose to defer her employment with IST for another two weeks until she can get her hands on someone to take her job under you. To be clear, you did not care about how Mr. Yoon attempted to screw you over. In fact, you were used to it and trained yourself to not think too much about it.
What bothered you about everything was how Sunwoo seemed to turn his back on you so quickly. Despite all the late nights and moments spent in close proximity, the friendship proved itself to be weak in the face of adversity. You guess Sunwoo needed more from you to truly think of you as a friend.
Now, you were seated in Sunwoo’s favorite Japanese restaurant which had turned into your favorite as well. You were only there for the sushi to patch the wounds that he inflicted on you; food cures everything. Yet, when Hikaru offered a bottle of sake for free, you could not deny her request.
A bottle of sake turned into two and a half, and you were officially drunk. You realize that sushi is not the most filling food to eat before you drink. As you stayed seated and slouched on your table around 1 AM, you were left with your thoughts as Hikaru stayed with you.
“Hikaru, I don’t know what happened,” You slur which has Hikaru letting out a hum.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“I… I don’t know what happened between me and Sunwoo,” You say as you finally sit up straight.
“Something happened between you two?”
You hiccup and take a moment to make sure you do not vomit. Before you could respond, you heard the bells ring. Once the mystery person made their way to you, you showed a lazy smile.
“Sunwoo!” The person in question sighs as he scratches his head.
“Thank you, Hikaru, for calling me. I’ll take care of them from here.”
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know something happened between you two.” As Sunwoo walks to you, you raise your arms.
“Carry me you asshole!” Despite the sting of your words, the way you exclaimed it was merrily. Sunwoo sighs, faces away from you, and crouches down.
“Get on my back.” You gladly accept his offer and wrap your arms around his shoulders, jumping on his back. The moment he stands up, you stumble but he holds on you tightly.
“Again, I’m sorry about this Hikaru. Do I have to pay for anything? Please send the receipt to the dorm if necessary,” Sunwoo tells Hikaru, making her shake her head.
“No, it’s okay. Just take care of Y/N. Do you need help?”
“I’ll be fine. Thank you!” With that, Sunwoo exits with you on his back.
As he was walking back to your place with you on his back, you were resting your cheek on the back of his head. In fact, you were mumbling something that he could not quite catch.
“Hmm? Y/N, did you say something?”
“Why…” The rest of your words turned into incoherent nonsense that Sunwoo was not sure if he should ask you to say again considering your state.
“Y/N, I couldn’t hear you.”
“Why do you not like me?”
That has Sunwoo stopped in his tracks. As he continued to carry you on his back, he looked at the path in front of him as you continued to mumble.
“Sunwoo,” You hiccup. “What happened to us? Do you not like me?”
Sunwoo’s heart ached at your words. He did not know how to reassure you that he enjoys everything about you, especially in your current state. In fact, it would be no use. With that, he continued to walk with you on his back.
The journey back to your place gave you enough time to rest and sober up somehow. As you gained a clearer conscience, you realized how having Sunwoo carry you on his back was terrible for you. There was no way you could live this down. Yet, you allow yourself to snuggle into him as you take in his smell.
Sunwoo smells of jasmine and rose. The scent of berry lingers on his hair along with the smell of laundry that clings onto his clothes. As you breathe him in, you realize how comforting his presence is in your life.
Once you two finally reached your place, he attempts to wake you up as he thinks you were asleep
“Hey, we’re here.”
As you got off his back, you look away and attempt to make your way to the door. Sunwoo grabs your hand before you could do so and spins you to face him. What he did not expect was to see tears falling down your face.
“Y/N, I’m–”
“Sunwoo, what did I do wrong? Did you not think of me as a friend?”
“What? No, I–” You attempt to shrug his hand off your wrist but fail.
“Let me go,” You say as more tears continue to fall down.
“No, I won’t.”
“Sunwoo, let me go.”
Greeted with no response as his grip remains firm, you attempt to shrug it off once more. Without any success, you start to sob even harder.
“Please, let me go!” Your sobs were even louder, your body shaking as your throat started to strain.
“Y/N, I can’t. I care about you.”
“No, you don’t! If you did, you would have never asked me to take that offer!” You argue back as you look at him straight into his eyes.
“Y/N–”
“Sunwoo, please! The longer you hold onto me, the more confused I get about our relationship. Like, what are we? Friends? Enemies? Strangers who want to flirt? What are we?! It’s so hard to understand you after everything!”
With that, Sunwoo pulls you into his chest and hugs you. As you continue to sob and hit your hands on his chest, he continues to hold you despite everything.
You wish he never bothered to be friends with you. Why could you two not remain colleagues? Why did Sunwoo have to reach out to you and leave you with a broken heart?
It took you a few minutes until your wailing started to calm down. As you start to get exhausted from crying, your arms began to grow tired while your throat started to ache. At that moment, you do not do anything as Sunwoo continues to hold you in his arms.
The moment he lets go of you, he caresses your face so that you could look straight into his eyes. Your bloodshot eyes along with tear-stained cheeks became a painful sight he could not bear to look at, especially knowing he was the cause of this. Despite everything, you saw how his eyes continued to hold the entire universe.
“Y/N, I need to say this to you right now because I’m scared you’ll go back to sleep thinking all of this.”
“I–”
“No, Y/N. Hear me out just this once, please?” Before you could say anything, he went on.
“Y/N, I have always thought of you as a friend. In fact, I regarded you as the one person I wanted to continue spending time with. Maybe it’s because our friendship is so fresh, but I loved every moment I got to have with you.” Sunwoo draws patterns on your cheek with his thumb. “Whether it would be in the studio as we worked in comfortable silence or in my favorite Japanese restaurant that turned into your favorite as well, every single moment is precious because it had you in it.”
“Sure, I was ecstatic to know that I would be spending time with my celebrity crush, but I learned more about you the more we continued to work together. Did you know that I fall asleep to the thought of spending more time–no, that I fall asleep to the thought of you? Everywhere I go at any moment, I always think about you; I wonder how you are today; I hope you got to eat well today; I wonder what other things you can reveal that can keep me absolutely hooked on you.”
“Y/N, I don’t think you realize just how precious you are in everyone’s lives. If you think I never saw you as a friend, well I need to tell you otherwise. I appreciate everything about you—your place in my life has become a comforting presence that I cannot imagine without. In the short period of time we got to know each other, I learned more about you outside of the idol persona I was infatuated with then.”
As your drunken brain tries to process, your mouth parts open.
“I… I don’t get it, Sunwoo. What are you trying to say?”
With that, Sunwoo lets out a sigh as he closes his eyes and loosens his hold on your face. As you continue to stare at him, he has no idea what to say. It was silent for a moment.
“Chanhee and I talked to Jihoon. We’re trying to negotiate again with our CEO.” You were left in shock.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen but I’m trying to fix it, okay? Hyung just informed Soeun just today, and we’re trying. I don’t want to discuss the details now because I want you to be in a sober state to fully discuss it with you. But I just want you to know I’m doing everything possible to fix this. You do not deserve to be fucked over again—you deserve better,” Sunwoo continues.
The guy who betrayed you was doing all of this for you? It felt surreal that Sunwoo would go to these lengths to right this situation. Maybe it is because you thought that your relationship with him was built on nothing but shameless flirting, but he continues to prove you wrong—you’re so glad he does.
Before you could say anything, Sunwoo says, “I’ll see you when you’re sober, okay?” With that, he engulfs you in a hug.
And he whispers, “Y/N, I miss you. Just let me know when you’re ready to talk.”
With that, Sunwoo nuzzles his face into the top of your head. And before you know it, he gives you a small kiss on the crown of your forehead. Your eyes were closed as his lips linger. The warmth of his lips felt like a blanket you would wrap yourself with when the storm came. You could only wish it could remain like this.
He finally lets go of you and lets his hand hover over your cheek. As you looked up to the guy who had singlehandedly given you warmth and heartache over the weeks, you still wish nothing but happiness for him. It’s not that you lacked respect for yourself for what he did—it’s that Sunwoo still deserves all that is good in the world no matter what you may feel.
Sunwoo drops his hand back to his side and gives a small smile before he decides to walk away. As you stay rooted in place, you watch his figure become smaller as he continues to walk. But before you decide to go back into your house, Sunwoo looks back at you.
“I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me. But I would never hold it against you if you couldn’t.”
Tumblr media
It’s been a few days since your last encounter with Sunwoo. Currently, you were in your office going through your emails (which surprised Soeun—even yourself). As you were considering denying all of the requests from these different companies, Soeun continued to give you a rundown of what Jihoon told her regarding the negotiation process.
“Jihoon says that since the anticipated comeback day is coming closer, the situation works in our favor. He mentioned that they haven’t found the right producer to work on Chanhee and Sunwoo’s track. That means that with the tight schedule, their company may reconsider what you produced as the final track.”
You only let out a hum as you continue to scroll through countless emails.
“Hey, look at me,” She says as she snaps her fingers to grab your attention.
As your eyes rip away from the screen, you look at Soeun who had a frown on her face. Clearly, she knew something was up considering your behavior that night with Sunwoo.
“Y/N, I know you are an independent artist but you still need to be careful about what you do. You are a well-respected artist in the industry and we cannot do anything to risk that! Y/N, you are free to go drink out and whatnot but you can’t just drink in public alone! Imagine if people saw you, let alone see you get picked up by Sunwoo! Remember how Keeho and Intak were caught in the club? Or even Taehyun?”
You understood where Soeun was coming from because she is right. It was completely stupid on your end. It was bad enough that you had to sustain yourself as an independent artist. It would be even worse if the public commented on your irrational public drinking behavior.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry.”
“I sure hope you know!” Her voice raises which you flinch at. Soeun notices the way you react and closes her eyes in an attempt to calm herself down.
“I’m… sorry for the way I’m reacting. Y/N, I know I’m going to work in IST soon enough, but I’m still your manager and friend. I’m trying to look out for you,” She says with her eyes open as she takes a seat in front of you.
“And in my attempt to look out for you, I want you to feel comfortable enough to tell me what’s on your mind.”
As she says those words, you lean your head back and look up at the ceiling. No matter how long you and Soeun have been together, you always found it hard to be vulnerable. It is not her fault but yours.
“Soeun, I don’t know. I’m just so lost in what I’m feeling and I–it’s all so confusing, you know? Like–oh my god, why is it so hard to vocalize my thoughts?” You let out a small laugh as you pick on your nails.
“It’s okay, take your time. You always know I’m here to listen, just say whatever comes to mind.”
So you talked, and it went on for hours. The best thing about talking to Soeun is that you always felt understood by her from how she responds to how she reacts. There really is no friend like Soeun—one who is willing to go to all lengths for your happiness and safety.
“Y/N, would you ever find it within yourself to forgive him? I mean, I don’t think I would,” She says, which makes you chuckle.
“The weirdest thing is that I would have never forgiven anyone for that. I mean, I opened up to Sunwoo about my own trauma only for him to completely disregard it.”
And it is true. Sunwoo should not deserve your forgiveness—just like how JYP Entertainment, Stone Entertainment, and IST Entertainment do not deserve it as well. To be treated as a tool that people can use at their own will to only benefit themselves is something no one should ever experience. You decided that you do deserve to be respected. So why do you find it in your heart to want to forgive him?
“I just find it crazy that I cannot bring myself to forgive these entertainment companies but for Sunwoo, I would. Call me infatuated or too up into my delusions, but all the days I’ve spent with him have only shown me a guy with a heart of gold and pure intentions to not only protect but to love immensely. Like, that’s just the type of guy he is! And this comes from someone who is always cynical about men.”
Soeun laughs, caresses your hand, and says, “No, you’re right. I’ve known you for how long and I have never seen you actually consider forgiving a man just like that.”
As you looked down at your intertwined hands, you could only sigh.
“Soeun, am I wrong for wanting to forgive him?” You ask as you look up to her.
With that, silence enters the room. As you wait for Soeun’s answer, anxiety starts to pool in your stomach. You did not want to come off as easy for wanting to forgive the guy who brought joy and sorrow within the past weeks.
“Y/N, wanting to forgive shows just how strong you are. Many people may disagree and say that you’re in the wrong for wanting to forgive him, but I believe that it just shows more of the Y/N I know. You’ve been wronged by so many people but I never see you use that as an excuse to treat people shitty, and that’s what I love about you. That’s why I always say you need to be kinder to yourself and give yourself more credit for all that you do.”
You felt yourself pout at what Soeun said. “Soeun, you’re going to make me sad!” She only laughs.
“I’m right though! I think even your fans would think the same, and I’m sure Sunwoo does.”
You press your tongue against the inside of your cheek as you think about her words. Instead of saying anything, you let go of Soeun’s hand and grab your phone. Once you typed out your message, you gave it one more read and sent it.
Tumblr media
It is 2:36 PM. You were seated in one of your favorite cafes that you would frequent back when you were still in 1CON. As you take a sip from your cup of earl grey tea, you scroll aimlessly through your Instagram.
“Y/N-ah!” You look up to see Jiwoo and Heejin whose smiles lit up the whole room.
Whenever you feel lost, you always find yourself going to these two. They were the ones you relied on the most back in your Produce 101 and 1CON days. Maybe it was due to being in the same unit groups during the competition or being roommates when you were still in 1CON that made you three grow closer. Nonetheless, you were happy that your friendship with them continues to last past disbandment.
“Heejin and Jiwoo! Thank you for meeting with me,” You say as you stand up and give the two a hug.
“Heejin-ah, I’ll get us our drinks. You stay with Y/N,” Jiwoo says as she makes her way to the cashier.
“Y/N, I have a feeling that I know why you called us,” Heejin says with a small smile as you two take a seat.
“Yeah, shocker,” You joke in hopes to lighten up the mood.
“Don’t worry about it. I get it, men truly are something.”
“They really are! I can’t believe I’m letting a man do this to me.”
Before Heejin can respond, Jiwoo comes to you two with some drinks and pastries.
“Here you go, Heejin! Let me just settle down and you can spill on Sunwoo,” She says excitedly which makes you chuckle.
With that, you explain to the two your whole situation with Sunwoo from the start to current. As you talked about the close proximity and all the other actions that transpired between you two, you could see Heejin and Jiwoo squeal.
“Yah! I never knew that all of this happened between you two! You downplay it or leave out so many details in your messages,” Jiwoo scolds you.
“I know, my bad. It’s just, it still feels weird to think that this all happened. But going back, my dilemma still remains. I don’t know what to feel about Sunwoo.”
Heejin scoffs and says, “Do you really not know what to feel about him or are you seeking some kind of external validation?”
“Hey! I mean, I’m both?” You shyly admit.
At first, Heejin and Jiwoo look at each other. A part of you had a feeling that they came prepared with whatever they wanted to say beforehand. With that, they look at you and give you a piece of their minds.
“Y/N, you should just talk to him,” Jiwoo starts off.
“I think it’s all hard to say whether you should forgive him or not if you don’t actually hear him out, you know?” Heejin takes a sip from her cold brew. “And I know that you’re the type of person who wants to come to these situations with a clear understanding of what to do, but it’s not fair for him. In no way am I trying to defend this guy’s actions because it is still pretty shitty and I would scold him. However, I think that your decision to forgive him or not will only be clearer if you talk to him.”
“I agree. If you come in there with a clear and strict decision of forgiving him or not means you don’t want to hear what he has to say. Plus, I do think it’s good on his end that he’s trying to make up for his behavior by trying to negotiate with his own agency. Everyone knows how hard it is for idols to stand up against their own companies—we would know out of all people would know,” Jiwoo points out.
Both of them made sense in what they were saying. If anything, you were starting to understand how important it is to have a talk with Sunwoo.
“So, I’m not wrong for wanting to forgive him?” You ask as you seek validation.
Jiwoo sighs. “You’re not wrong for wanting to hear him out. To hear out the person who betrayed you in hopes to understand and possibly forgive them speaks so much of your character, Y/N.”
“You know, you really are too good for this world. In other instances, I would have told you to ghost this guy and go on with your life.” You laugh at Heejin’s words. “Yet, the way you talk about Sunwoo and all the good things he’s done for you makes me hope that it all goes out well. You’re the one person I trust when it comes to forgiveness—you know that you deserve respect. Of course, you still need to work on acknowledging your achievements,” Heejin continues making you gasp.
“Hey! Soeun won’t get off my back on that, you know?”
“Yeah because it’s true and something you need to focus on,” Jiwoo argues and smacks your arm.
“You work too much!” Heejin exclaims.
“Heejin, I have to work or I’m going to be broke. Being an independent artist is hard,” You point out.
“We get it. I mean, you’re talking to us out of all people!”
Your group bursts into giggles. It is crazy to think that you three had to undergo mistreatment that scarred your lives. In no way was it right but it is something you three trauma bond over.
“So, what are you going to do?” Jiwoo finally asks.
Instead of answering, you grab your phone and message the man who you needed to hear from.
Tumblr media
Sunwoo was not focused during his dance practice. If anything, he has been unfocused since you first stormed out of the building that one day. Of course, he tried to do anything that would help him get his mind on track. However, with the comeback date approaching and no clear future for his and Chanhee’s track, he has been stressed out. It did not help that he missed your presence the most.
“Yo, Sunwoo? You good?” Kevin snaps Sunwoo out of his trance.
“Huh? Oh yeah, sorry.”
Everyone in the group knew that Sunwoo was not his usual self. With the stress of the comeback and his argument with you, many of the members noticed how scatterbrained he has been. Although Chanhee and Changmin made an attempt to talk to him about it, he always shut them down. This is why when Sunwoo approached Chanhee with the idea of talking to Jihoon, Chanhee was shocked about his best friend talking about you after so long.
Jihoon says that he is getting close to sealing the deal with Mr. Yoon. However, he requested to have a meeting with Sunwoo and Chanhee to hear the request from them. With the meeting happening in three days, Sunwoo found himself ridden with anxiety.
There are so many ways in which the meeting could play out; Mr. Yoon easily agrees with their negotiation and has Y/N’s work as the final track; he denies the request and pushes back the unit song for the next comeback instead; or, Sunwoo could lose his job. Everything about this situation stressed him out, but he knew that it was something that needed to be done.
“Okay everyone, let’s stay focused. We have so many segments to fix on,” Sangyeon calls everyone’s attention.
“Sangyeon’s right. Sunwoo, we really need your help here,” Changmin hated to say that to his best friend knowing fully well of the situation, but the time constraints were putting pressure on everyone.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry everyone,” Sunwoo apologizes as he rubs his eyes in frustration.
“Hey, let’s cut some slack for Sunwoo. He’s going through a lot,” Eric attempts to defend his best friend.
“Yeah, but if we don’t show Jihoon hyung anything good, we’ll be scolded,” Hyunjae explains.
“But you guys know that Sunwoo hasn’t been sleeping well since his fight with Y/N,” Chanhee chimes in.
“I know that, but remember when we delivered a bad performance to Sunghoon?” Juyeon shares which made the chatter stop.
The mention of their old manager brings the group into silence. Everyone’s experiences were different, but all would agree Sunghoon has single-handedly traumatized the members. Through insults, invasion of privacy, and gaslighting, many members of the group felt unsafe with him.
“Hey, don’t think about him. We’re safe now, okay?” Sangyeon says before anyone could continue spiraling down into memory lane.
“I’m sure Jihoon hyung will understand, but we still need to present something that would fulfill the standards of the company,” He continues as he stretches his shoulder.
Before anyone could say anything, the door of the practice room opens and reveals Jihoon and Jongseob, their choreography teacher.
“Speak of the devil! We were just talking about you, hyung,” Kevin exclaims with a smile on his face.
“Oh, talking about me? I hope you’re not planning to find a way to sneak out of the dorm again,” Jihoon jokes.
“To be fair, Hyunjae and Younghoon dragged us with them!” Jacob tries to defend him and Kevin while Jihoon only laughs.
“How’s the practice? I thought it would be good to leave you guys to work by yourselves,” Jongseob asks the group.
No one answers.
“I’m assuming that you’re still struggling.”
“Hyung, I think we’re getting stressed by the lack of time and progress,” Changmin pouts.
“And that’s why I’m here to help! Let’s try to refine up to the 2nd verse and work on the rest tomorrow, okay?” Jongseob asks which has the group scream out in happiness.
“Can I speak to Sunwoo first?” Jihoon asks.
Sunwoo only nods and walks out of the practice room with Jihoon. He continues to follow Jihoon until they reach an empty recording studio. Once the two entered, they made their way to the black couch that stood at the end of the room and sat down.
The thing is that Sunwoo is nervous. The name of Sunghoon being mentioned brought him memories he wished he could forget. So to be seated alone with Jihoon only rid him of anxiety.
Sunwoo did not have it in him to share what he went through with anyone. So when Y/N asked him back then what his experience is like with The Boyz, he purposely omitted it. It is not that he did not trust Y/N but more that it was hard for him to ever have to vocalize his own experiences with Sunghoon that almost pushed him to leave the group.
“Hey, Sunwoo? Are you okay?” Jihoon snaps Sunwoo out of his trance.
“What? I’m sorry. I’m okay, hyung,” Sunwoo says with a quick smile as a cover-up.
Jihoon only frowns and says, “Sunwoo-ah, I know you well enough to see that you’re upset about something. It’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it but you don’t need to lie to me.”
Sunwoo shakes his head and lets out a sigh.
“I’m sorry, hyung. It’s just that I’ve been so lost with… everything, really,” Sunwoo attempts to joke as he lets out a chuckle.
“No, I get it. With what you’re going through with Y/N, the comeback date coming soon, and your upcoming meeting with Mr. Yoon, I would be surprised if you weren’t stressed.”
“Yeah but… I’m trying to deal with it.”
“And you know that you don’t have to deal with it alone, right?” Jihoon is only met with silence.
“Sunwoo, you are a very talented guy whose charisma manages to bring up everyone’s mood. You somehow–no wait, you are the life of the party for many and the shoulder to cry on for others. So you should know that whenever the burden is too hard to carry, you have people you can rely on—me, your members, Y/N even.”
Sunwoo only sighs as he plays with his hands. “I know, you’re right. I think it’s just weird to still be open about anything.”
“Hey, I understand. I mean, I get that it would be weird to be open with your manager but I always want you to know that I am not like Sunghoon,” Jihoon tries to make a point by holding onto Sunwoo’s hands.
“I’m sorry to bring his name up but I know the damage he’s inflicted upon you guys mentally and physically. Every day, I still see how his memory continues to live with you guys from the way you function during comeback season to the way you treat yourselves. So when I look at you now, I feel the need to reiterate it.”
Sunwoo cannot help but smile at Jihoon. One of the things that Sunwoo appreciates about Jihoon is that he has always been attentive to the needs of the group. From food cravings to fatigue levels, Jihoon always found ways to make sure every member was heard and understood.
“Thank you, Jihoon hyung. It means a lot. You do so much for us and I hope you know how much we appreciate you,” Sunwoo says, which earns a smile from Jihoon.
“I know that even if you guys tend to mess around or sneak out of the dorm every once in a while.” The two burst into laughter.
“Well, I just wanted you to know that. Now, the reason I called you here is to talk to you about more details about what to expect from the meeting.” Sunwoo nods. “Thankfully, Soeun and I discussed thoroughly the details and what might help with the negotiation pushing through. Thankfully, I will be in the meeting to help so you don’t have to worry too much. I do think you and Chanhee need to prepare a good and rational explanation as to why they should accept Y/N’s work as the final track and I can deal with all the technical details such as dates and whatnot. I’ll send you a proper message later tonight.”
Sunwoo nods firmly and shows Jihoon a smile. Before he could say anything, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. As he takes it out to see the notification, he is surprised to see a message from you. As he gasps, Jihoon could only guess what has Sunwoo in such a reaction.
“I am guessing that you have somewhere to be.” Sunwoo shoots Jihoon a smile and hugs him briefly.
“Thank you, hyung! I’ll see you later,” He says as he stands up and quickly makes his way to the door.
“Yah, don’t forget you need to be in the dorm by 9 PM latest!”

It is 4:21 PM. You were seated in the same cafe where you met up with Heejin and Jiwoo. You decided to get a chai latte to accompany your book. Although you tried to read the pages of Crying in H Mart, you could not keep your mind off of your upcoming meeting with Sunwoo.
You decide to grab your phone and look back at your conversation with Sunwoo.
y/n: are you free to meet?
zzoguri 🦝: of course! i can meet you around 4:30?
zzoguri 🦝: where should i meet you :]
y/n: there’s actually a cafe i frequent that’s near my place. it’s called milk and roasters
y/n: i can send you the google maps details if you need it
zzoguri 🦝: it’s okay i found it. i’ll see you :]]
As you continue to look down at the conversation that took place hours ago, you start to feel anxiety pool at the bottom of your stomach. Although you are the type of person who stands their ground and likes to hear people out, you cannot deny that you were the anxious type. Your tendency to overthink always brought you to hypothetical situations you never wanted to experience.
This is why you never noticed that Sunwoo entered the cafe as you continued to stare down at your phone.
“Hey.”
You felt yourself jump in your seat at Sunwoo’s sudden voice. As you look up at him, you notice a sheepish smile plastered on his face.
“Jesus! Sunwoo, you scared me.”
“To be fair, I wanted to see if you really were easy to scare like I’ve seen in the old 1CON vlogs,” He says as he takes a seat across from you.
“Oh god, you really watched those? I was such a baby then.”
“Of course I did! You were my number one pick—you still are.” You could only roll your eyes at Sunwoo.
“Plus, Haknyeon did mention you’re my celebrity crush,” He continues as he looks out the window.
You only giggle and say, “I can’t believe that getting me to work on your unit track was just a ploy for you to meet your celebrity crush.”
Sunwoo was about to protest but no words left his mouth. “Yeah, it really was.”
You try to hide the smile forming on your face by taking a sip of your chai latte (though you are not sure if you were blushing). Once you put your phone and book away, you look right at the boy seated across you.
“I’m ready to listen regarding the negotiation.”
Sunwoo lets out a sigh at first to prepare what he was going to say. Although he spent his time drafting a flow of what he would say on the way to you, he was scared that he would fuck this up.
“Ever since our, you know… fight, I’ve been trying to find a way to make this all right. I thought I could just apologize but I knew it wouldn’t be enough.” Sunwoo tongues the inside of his cheek. “I mean, I basically asked you to give your work as a demo despite knowing all the times your old companies didn’t credit you for your work—let alone properly pay you for it. That’s why I talked with Chanhee about negotiating again and he was open to the idea.”
“We eventually found ourselves talking to Jihoon hyung and one thing led to another. We’re trying to push for your work to be the final track for many reasons; there’s not enough time to outsource another producer who would deliver a track within the projected internal deadline; it would be impossible for me and Chanhee to squeeze in enough time to work with a new producer since we’re focused on our comeback performances; and it’s also not fair to you—above all reasons, that is the one that I find important to address.”
Sunwoo takes a deep breath. “Y/N, I’m sorry for ever asking you to do something that would only have you relive your trauma or create room for more disrespect directed towards you. When I looked back at our conversations about your time in JYP and Stone Music Entertainment, I only realized after our fight what I was asking you to do. You do not deserve to be forced to relive your trauma. So above everything, I’m sorry.”
You are silent for a moment as you process his words.
“Sunwoo, so why did you ask for me to accept the deal then?” He lets out a sigh at your question.
“I… don’t know,” He admits. “I know, that sounds so shitty but I really don’t know what was on my mind to push you into the deal. I think I wanted to believe that they wouldn’t make any significant changes to your work; I just wanted to rap to the song you produced,” He trails off.
“But also, I think a part of me was scared.”
“Scared of what?”
“I… I think I was scared of how Jihoon hyung and Mr. Yoon would react if you denied the deal. I–this isn’t about me, sorry. Just know that it was wrong on my end; I’m doing all that I can to fix this,” Sunwoo answers as he looks down at his crossed arms that rested on the table.
You do not know what came to you, but you found yourself reaching out to Sunwoo’s arm. As you rested your hand there, he looked up at you with eyes filled with guilt.
“Sunwoo, it’s okay. You can tell me—this is also about you as much as it is about me.”
At first, Sunwoo was hesitant to share with you something so traumatic and personal to him. He hates to vocalize any experience related to Sunghoon. Yet, the moment you showed your smile that filled him with warmth without fail, that is when he knew it was time to tell you.
“A part of me would think that I would have to carry the blame or the burden if you denied the deal,” Sunwoo starts off. “I felt as if I would have to be in charge to clean up the mess. I mean, I was the one who pushed for you to be the producer for the unit track. It made me think that if we didn’t get to use your work, I would need to do all the work once again. But most of all, I was scared that I would get scolded by the company.”
Sunwoo sighs. “Y/N, remember that conversation we had when we were at the convenience store? The one where you asked me what it’s like to be in The Boyz?” You only nod.
“I know I mentioned that the scolding was the worst of it all and… it’s because of what the group had to go through back then.” You found yourself slowly rubbing his arm in hopes to comfort him.
Sunwoo sucks in a breath.
“We had a manager before Jihoon; his name is Sunghoon. He was our manager back in our pre-debut to freshly debuted days. At first, Sunghoon was a great manager. I mean, he took care of us and defended us on most occasions. If anything, we trusted him so much with so many secrets.”
“But something flipped in him—or maybe he was just always a bad person and we never noticed. At first, he would manipulate us into thinking we were too fat or we lacked so much skill that it would cost our debut.” Sunwoo found himself shuddering at the memories. “At one point, I remember that he made Changmin believe that it would be impossible for him to improve in singing. Changmin took that to heart because he only had dancing. He knew that if he didn’t show any improvement, he would be kicked out of the group.”
Sunwoo closed his eyes. “I think one of the worst things I underwent is the physical and mental exhaustion he would subject me to.”
“Out of all the members, he expected me to be the perfect dancer—the one to get the choreography and perform it exquisitely within the first days of learning it.” Sunwoo shakes his head. “But for some reason, he made me believe that all the times I would slip up were the main reasons why I was holding the group back. Although the group tried to tell me that I was one of the best dancers and it was fine for me to make some mistakes, I started to believe that I was at fault if I wasn’t doing anything perfectly.”
“It started to reach a point where Sunghoon would force me to stay late in the practice rooms alone and he would force me to perform the same choreography until I got it perfectly. The other members said it was weird that only I was being subjected to that but the others had other mistreatments they were being put through; Haknyeon was put through inhumane diets; Juyeon and Changmin were forced to sing until their vocal cords would strain; Kevin and Jacob would not be allowed to talk to their family back in Canada; and so much more.”
The more Sunwoo shares his story, the more your heart would ache for him. It was not right that he had to go through such a traumatic experience in the same way that you should not have been discredited for your creative works. It is not right that so many trainees and idols are continuously subjected to mistreatment as if they are only tools for the success of these companies.
“No matter how many times Sangyeon tried to talk to Mr. Yoon, he would not believe us. And somehow, Sunghoon always found out whenever Sangyeon tried to talk. The–god, the physical abuse I had to see Sangyeon undergo was terrible. I think he had it worst out of all of us.” Sunwoo bites his lip.
You wish you knew what to say when you heard Sunwoo’s story, but his experience is something you do not think you had a place to comment on. All you could do is hold onto his arm—only caress him in a way that you wish could heal him of all wounds.
“Somehow, we managed to get our families involved. It was risky since we had no contact with them because of Sunghoon, but Hyunjae found a way. It only helped that some of us were still minors when we debuted. Mr. Yoon finally listened once our families got involved and we never saw Sunghoon again.”
“But the worst of it all is that no one knows what happened to us publicly. We weren’t allowed to talk about it outside of the group—even our families weren’t allowed.”
For a moment, silence comes to you two.
He sighs. “I don’t know what Sunghoon is doing now; many of us pressed charges against him but he quickly solved it. So while he continues to walk around, I’m here still picking up the pieces. I feel at fault for everything that doesn’t go the way we had planned out—just like how Sunghoon made me believe that any mistake I committed held back everyone.”
You do not say anything. In situations like these, you think it is best to just listen until the person speaking gives you a clear indication to talk.
As Sunwoo continues to look down at your hand that rested on his arm, he felt a sense of warmth fill him. And you least expect it when he grabs a hold of it and intertwines his fingers.
“Y/N, I want you to know that you do mean the world to me, and I’m sorry that I ever treated you like that.” His eyes are filled with guilt as he says those words. “But I feel even more sorry knowing that you started to doubt our friendship just because of my actions. So I meant every word I said that night when I brought you back home, and all others during the time we spent together,” He speaks as he draws circles with his thumb on the back of your hand.
It felt so nice to be cared for by Sunwoo—you could only imagine how it would feel to be loved by him.
“Sunwoo, I forgive you and I’m sorry you had to go through that.” You give him a small smile. “You don’t have to be sorry for ever keeping that memory to yourself; I would’ve done the same. Typically, people would just apologize or even go on with their days. You though… you went to such great lengths to fix all of this, and I’m forever thankful for you.” You take a look at your interwoven hands. “So I want to at least tell you… thank you for this, and I always want you to know I’m here for you every step of the way.”
Sunwoo cannot help but smile at your words. “You’re too good to me.”
“I think you’re talking about yourself,” You giggle.

Sunwoo was seated across from Mr. Yoon with Chanhee and Jihoon by his side. He still could not believe the day had come. He has had numerous discussions with Chanhee and Jihoon about what needs to be said. With the pressure of comeback day coming, the uncertainty of the NEWSUN track, and your overall happiness, he knew he had to do anything possible to have Mr. Yoon agree to the negotiation.
“Hello everyone. You have called this meeting to hold a negotiation regarding the NEWSUN unit song and to discuss our last encounter with Y/N,” Mr. Yoon starts off.
“Yes sir, I will have the boys speak first and I will present the technical data after,” Jihoon responds.
Chanhee sucks a breath in. “When Sunwoo and I were conceptualizing what we wanted from this track, we wanted to ensure a performance that captured our charms, capabilities, and message we wish to convey. It took months for us to truly decide on what type of song we wanted but we were always certain to have Y/N produce the final track from the start. It is our dream to work with them—let alone meet them. With that, both Sunwoo and I were happy to see the final product of the track that we believe fulfills the standards of the company, especially under the supervision of Jihoon hyung.”
“Although you wish to have Y/N’s work as a demo, both parties previously agreed to their work acting as the final track with only minimal edits if necessary. However, with them unaware of the change in the contract, we lost the perfect track to work with. With this, Chanhee and I agreed that it would be best to discuss with you on what can be done to proceed forward,” Sunwoo says.
Jihoon points his laptop screen to Mr. Yoon with the calendar showcased. “Sir, we have spent around a month working with Y/N as the producer as we were under the impression that their work would act as the final track. However, with your proposed changes of requesting a demo, it was impossible for the team to outsource enough producers willing to agree with the proposed internal deadline.
“Along with this, the group is now at the stage where they are heavily focused on refining their performance for the title track. With the time constraints, both Chanhee and Sunwoo may be unable to work with a new producer to create the track they envisioned. Lastly, it is important to point out that the company luckily got away with this as Y/N is an independent artist with not enough manpower to sue for a breach of contract. Still, it is not right that we amended the details of the contract and did not get a clear understanding of whether they were aware of the changes,” Jihoon continues.
“We ask for you to reconsider having Y/N’s work as the final track as it fulfills the vision of mine and Chanhee’s. Y/N is a well-respected artist in the industry whose tracks ensure success for the artists they work with. Through the number of sales and streams other artists have as seen here…” Jihoon shows a line graph. “... then we can hopefully predict similar results for the group as well.”
Sunwoo hesitates for a second as he gets a good look at Mr. Yoon whose facial expression never faltered. “My time working with Y/N has improved me as an artist as I got to learn from them. Not only that but I believe they are a well-respected partner that the company could keep close contact with. But above everything, Y/N does not deserve the treatment we subjected them to. If anything, it is an honor that we got to work with them.”
Sunwoo takes a second to breathe. “Both Y/N and I have grown closer during our time working, and I would hate to disrespect an artist and friend like them.”
For a moment, the CEO only looks at the three people who sat across from him. Sunwoo knew that Mr. Yoon could do anything he wanted and that they would have no absolute say in it. But for once, he was clinging onto that string of hope that maybe their company has changed and learned to listen to their artists.
“Okay.”
It took a bit for Chanhee, Sunwoo, and Jihoon to register what Mr. Yoon said. However, when he nodded, a smile showed on their faces.
“You are right, Y/N is a well-respected artist who we must keep in close contact with. With the time constraints, I cannot risk pushing back the unit track any further as the marketing materials have already been made. And Jihoon is right, I am lucky enough to have gotten away with this but it doesn’t make it right.” Mr. Yoon sucks a breath in. “So you are right, and I’m sorry for not listening to you. Jihoon, please send an email to Y/N’s manager. Hopefully, they would still allow us to use their work as the final track,” He orders Jihoon.
“Now, get back to work. You better deliver good results for this comeback.”

It is 3:23 PM. You were at home enjoying a bag of chips as you watched The Uncanny Counter on Netflix. Soeun had an emergency to attend to which is why you decided that today would be a good day to not do anything. As you were sprawled over the sofa, you watched So Moon and Do Hana interact on screen.
“Sejeong is so pretty,” You muttered to no one as you continued to snack away.
While you were invested in the show, you were surprised to hear the doorbell ring. You frowned to yourself as you got off the couch. Once you make your way to the front door, you take a look into the peephole to see Sunwoo.
“Shit!” You exclaim quietly as you look down at your clothes; a grey oversized RJ of BT21 shirt and blue checkered shorts.
You can hear Sunwoo’s snicker from the other side of the door.
“Yah, Y/N! I can hear you, let me in.”
“Sunwoo, I am not dressed up!”
“It’s okay, just let me in,” He knocks on the door.
As you get annoyed with his knocks, you give in and swing the door open. A smiley Sunwoo appears by your doorstep (though you did notice his smile getting wider when he saw what you were wearing). You frown at him and take a step to the side to let him in.
You close the door and say, “I did not expect to see you today.”
“Well, I’m here. I just had my meeting with Mr. Yoon.” You felt your lips part open as anxiety started to creep in.
“Oh my god, I thought it would take some more meetings.” For a moment, you felt yourself panic over what news Sunwoo may have brought into the household.
However, Sunwoo still had that stupid smile on his face (something you still greatly love and despise). And you are left shocked by what leaves his mouth. “I sealed the deal. Y/N, your work is now officially the final track of mine and Chanhee’s unit song!”
As soon as he shared the news, you felt yourself jump in happiness and hug Sunwoo. At first, Sunwoo was stiff as he was not expecting you to hug him so suddenly. But the moment you hugged him tighter is when he let himself melt into the hug. His arms went to wrap around your waist and lifted you off the ground slightly.
“Sunwoo, I can’t believe it! You did it!”
Although the negotiation seemed more about you, you believed it to be for Sunwoo. Ever since he told you his story in the cafe a few days ago, you were worried about him confronting his boss. You did not want him to do anything that would ultimately risk his career. And yet, here he stood before you, victorious than ever.
With your arms still wrapped around him and his with yours, you decided to lean a bit backward to look at him properly. “You managed to get the track! Now, you and Chanhee can say that you fulfilled your number one wish.”
Sunwoo chuckles as he looks directly back at you.
“Yeah, I guess so. But Y/N, that’s not my number one wish.” You let out a gasp.
“Kim Sunwoo, you’re saying that working with me is not your number one wish? After Haknyeon had to tell me that I was your celebrity crush?”
Sunwoo rolls his eyes. “How many times do I have to say that you are my celebrity crush?” You only frown at him.
“Haha, stop with the lies.” He shakes his head.
“Well, you better be happy you at least got to get that wish fulfilled—whatever your number one wish may be,” You mutter the last half bitterly which only makes him laugh.
You let go of him and make your way back to the couch in your living room. As you moved aside your bag of chips, Sunwoo took a seat beside you.
“Hey, you don’t want to celebrate this win?” You let out a hum as you were thinking over his question.
“Shouldn’t we be celebrating with Chanhee then?”
“Chanhee has something else he needs to attend to,” He says only for you to pout.
“I miss that guy, you know?”
“Well, we can try to celebrate with him on another day.”
You nod. “Well, what do you have in mind?”
“Honestly, I can only think of eating out as an option.”
You started to think of what other things you and Sunwoo could do. “Oh! What about drinking?”
As you look at him excitedly, he only shakes his head with a small smile on his lips.
“No drinking? Why? Is it because it’s your comeback soon?” You ask.
“No, it isn’t that.”
“Well, what’s wrong with drinking? You hate drinking with me, do you?” You tease only for Sunwoo’s smile to get bigger as he shakes his head once more.
It takes him a moment to speak. “I don’t trust myself with alcohol when I’m around you.”
You felt your eyebrows furrow at the statement. With such an ambiguous statement, you were not sure what to make of he just said.
“Okay… well we can just eat out,” You say as you shut off the television screen.
“Alright.”
“But before anything,” You move closer to him and give him another hug. “Thank you again, and I’m so proud of you.”
Tumblr media
It is 3:34 PM. You were in the backstage area where The Boyz will be having their comeback showcase. The group wished to extend an invitation to you to show their appreciation for having you work on Chanhee and Sunwoo’s track. As you tried to peek through the curtains, you noticed how big and spacious the stadium was.
“Y/N-ah, we have to move,” Soeun grabs your attention by tapping your soldier.
As she started to walk, you followed her closely. Every time staff members would pass by you, they would always greet you ecstatically. It still feels surreal that many people recognize you and respect you despite 1CON disbanding two years ago. No matter how washed-out of an artist you try to make yourself out to be, the love and regard you receive from many prove otherwise.
Soeun stops in front of a door that you are unfamiliar with. The moment she knocks, the door swings open to reveal Eric all dressed up in an oversized shirt, fishnets, and leather pants.
“Y/N! It’s so nice to see you here,” He says with a smile and takes a step to the side.
“I’ll see you later. I’m going to meet with Jihoon,” Soeun briefly says before leaving you.
As you take a step inside, you could see Hyunjae, Sangyeon, and Juyeon getting their makeup done. In contrast, Changmin, Chanhee, and Younghoon were busy playing around while Jacob, Haknyeon, and Kevin were on their phones showing each other TikTok videos. All of them were dressed up in clothing that would involve corsets, fishnets, leather, and more.
“Y/N! You’re here!” Haknyeon exclaims.
As everyone greeted you, you could only smile. “Hi everyone, I’m sorry I could not bring you guys anything to congratulate you on your comeback. However, I would like to treat you guys to dinner one day.”
“Ah, thank you! You really don’t need to,” Sangyeon responds.
“Please, I insist. I mean, you gave me an opportunity to participate in this album so it seems only right. I also got to make some new friends through this opportunity.”
Chanhee cannot help but smile. “Y/N, I still cannot believe that we got you to work on the NEWSUN track. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
“Will you be going to the afterparty later?” Kevin asks to which you nod.
Before you could say anything, you notice Sunwoo emerging from the back of the room dressed in a crop top with fishnets under and leather pants. For a moment, you feel your brain blank out at the sight of him (and his abs, though you hate to admit it). But the smile that shows up on his face when he sees you is something you could not help but feel so much warmth from.
“Y/N! I did not expect to see you here in our dressing room,” Sunwoo says as he walks closer to you.
Before you could say anything, he wraps his arms around you and gives you a hug. You felt shy at the sudden action, especially since his other members could see the interaction.
“You came to support me, didn’t you?” Sunwoo says cheekily with a wink to which you only roll your eyes.
“Sunwoo, can’t you just thank me for showing up?”
He only laughs and lets go of you. “Thank you, Y/N.”
“We also have a gift for you,” You spin to look at Juyeon who is not seated in his chair anymore.
You were surprised to see him bring out a signed album of theirs from behind him. “Wow, thank you!”
As he hands you the album, you closely inspect all the signatures on the cover of the album. You notice the smiley faces, the heart, and even a “Thank you, Korea’s Sweetheart Y/N <3” on it. You can only smile.
“If you look through the pages, you might actually find some doodles or notes from us,” Sunwoo shares as he looks over your shoulder.
As you skim through the pages, you can only giggle at the drawings that the members have left. “I hope you didn’t leave any of your drawings here, Sunwoo.”
“Hey, I can draw!” Sunwoo exclaims as you move your head to the side to be able to see him since your back was facing him.
“Whatever you say,” You smirk as you continue to flip through the pages.
Before Sunwoo could argue, Jihoon and Soeun enter the room.
“Ah, I see you’ve given Y/N the album. It would be good to take a picture of you all together and then Sunwoo, Y/N, and Chanhee.”
Everyone collectively agreed to take these photos so you all moved out of the dressing room to take a proper picture. Jihoon held his phone up as you and The Boyz repositioned for the photo. While half of them decided to crouch, the other half of them including yourself remained standing behind them. As you are pushed to the middle of Sunwoo and Changmin, you cannot help but hold the album up so it can be seen in the picture.
“You guys can get a little closer,” Jihoon calls out which has you all squeezing in.
“Perfect! I’ll be taking the picture now.”
“3…” You continued to hold up the album but felt Sunwoo nudging your side.
“2…” His arms start to snake across your waist.
“1…” And he brings you closer to him.
For a moment, you cannot hide the shock that appears on your face. But as you hear the shutter sounds, you quickly cover it up with a smile.
“There we go!” Jihoon says as he looks down at the photo.
“Can we just get Sunwoo, Chanhee, and Y/N?” Soeun asks those who are not part of the picture to step aside.
While Chanhee took his position beside you, Sunwoo’s arm never left your waist. You were hoping that you were not blushing hard enough for the members to notice—let alone Sunwoo. Though you could not help but look over at the other members who seemed to snicker at you two.
“Okay, 3…”
“2…” You felt Sunwoo rest his head on the side of yours.
“1…” All you can do is squint your eyes at his action.
The shutter sounds go off. “Y/N-ah, you’re so cute!” Soeun calls out.
Once you open your eyes, you can see Jihoon smiling in the pictures. “I’ll airdrop these to Soeun.”
“Can I see them?” Chanhee asks.
When Jihoon showed you three the photos, you could see your smile wide as ever and your eyes squinted as Sunwoo's head rested on yours. While Sunwoo opted for a wink, Chanhee chose to give a smile and a peace sign.
“Yah, Kim Sunwoo! Why do you and Y/N make me look like a third-wheeler?” Chanhee complained only for the others to laugh.
“So true, don’t leave out poor Chanhee,” Changmin jokes.
“Hey, I’m not!” Sunwoo tries to defend himself.
The group continues to argue but all you do is watch. The best thing about these guys is that you could really see their love for one another. No matter how many quarrels or (friendly) bullying they decided to put each other through, you knew how much they cared for one another.
“I hate to break the conversation but we really need you guys on stage in 10 minutes,” Jihoon points out.
As the group quickly made their way closer to the stage, Sunwoo stayed back for a bit.
“I will see you later, right? In the afterparty?” He quietly asks.
You nod. “Yeah, good luck.”
The moment you smile at Sunwoo, he feels himself smile as well. And somehow, he was quick enough to give you a kiss on the cheek. As you were left stunned in your place, he could only smile at your reaction.
“I’ll see you later.”
As he left you and made his way closer to the stage, you could not help but melt at the feeling.
“Y/N… did I really just see that?” Soeun asks as she tries to hold back a squeal.
Instead of replying to her, you quickly open the album and flipped through. In the pages, you saw notes from members that talked about some of their fondest memories with each other during the production of this album. You noticed doodles on different members’ faces and messages directed to you all around.
Once you reached the section that discussed the NEWSUN track, you saw messages from Chanhee and Sunwoo. Before you read Chanhee’s, you found your eyes focusing on what Sunwoo had to say:
Hi Y/N!
I still can’t believe that I got to meet my celebrity crush of how many years just because I asked for you to produce it. I want to say thank you for all the time we spent together when we prepared for this track. This track was already personal to me when Chanhee and I spent months figuring this out, but it became even more meaningful when we got you on it.
In the few days we worked together and the following weeks that came, I’ve learned to grow as an artist and as a person because of you. I’m so glad to have you in my life, and I’m thankful to have gotten to know you in all aspects you shared with me.
♥️ Your number one fan forever, Sunwoo
God, you really needed to know what to make of your relationship with Sunwoo.

The showcase was a success. You really enjoyed watching The Boyz not only perform but even interact with the fans. It kind of reminds you of all the other showcases you had with 1CON.
Now, you were being driven by Soeun to the location of the afterparty. You were typing away on your phone as you messaged Heejin and Jiwoo.
chuu chuu 🍎: oh my god y/n!! i thought you would ask what you guys really were before the showcase

y/n: STOP!!! okay i will talk to him i swear
“Y/N, we’re here,” Soeun says as she pulls up in front of the same building where you went to that one party with Sunwoo.
You exited the car and glanced back at Soeun. “I’ll see you later, maybe?”
Soeun only chuckles and says, “Yeah, unless Sunwoo decides that he wants to bring you home himself.”
“Soeun! Don’t say that!” You gasp at her comment only for her to laugh.
“Have fun!” With that, she drives off to wherever.
You continued to make your way into the building and tried to find the function room where the afterparty was being held. Thankfully, it was easy to find since you could hear songs from their newly released album being blasted through the walls.
Once you swung the door open, you saw staff members, idols that The Boyz is friends with, and others who are unfamiliar to you. You quickly made your way through the crowd of people in hopes to find anyone who could bring you to Sunwoo.
Before you could take another step, you felt someone grab on your wrist from behind. As you look back, you see Sunwoo dressed out of the crop top but in an open-button shirt with a tank top under.
“You really did come!” He says as loud as he could over the music that blasted.
“Of course I did, we need to celebrate your success.” He only shakes his head at your praise.
“Come on, I’ll bring you to the drinks–”
“Sunwoo, wait.” He stops pulling you in the direction where the bar is.
You suck a breath in. “Can we talk? Like maybe outside?”
For a moment, Sunwoo felt hesitant. His mind could only guess what the conversation may be about. With the way you look at him, he nodded and continued to walk in a different direction.
Eventually, you found yourselves by the outdoor area where you had a good view of the city lights and night sky. With his hand still holding onto your wrist, you continued to follow him to a green steel bench. The two of you sat down beside each other. As you tried to adjust your body to face him, you noticed that his hands have found themselves covering his ears. With that, you decided to rest your hand on top of his and bring it back down to his lap.
“Hey, it’s nothing bad,” You attempt to ease his anxieties.
Sunwoo sighs. “I’m sorry, I think it’s the nerves.”
You can only smile at him as you draw circles on the back of his hand with your thumb.
“Well, you’re at a party with me where there’s alcohol surrounding us,” You try to joke as you look down at your intertwined hands.
Sunwoo only chuckles. For a moment, silence comes to you two. As the wind comes in and rustles the leaves of the bushes, you are left to hear the sounds of nature (and the muffled sounds of The Boyz’s music) as you try to think of the words to say.
“Sunwoo, we’ve known each other for a while now. I mean, I originally agreed to work with you guys to see Soeun’s new workplace. I had to come to terms that she was going to resign from being my manager. But I think I found it within myself to accept it.”
In some way, your time working with Sunwoo helped you prepare for letting Soeun go as your manager. Somehow, you also found yourself getting accustomed to the feeling of working inside a company throughout all the times you and he would work.
“It’s just, I really was not expecting to gain a friend when I accepted the request, especially a close one. It’s weird because for all the other people I worked with, we’ve only been friendly to each other. But you, you actually took your time to really… know me in the same way I got to know you.”
“You listened, understood, and even comforted me when I needed it. I hope you know that I am thankful for all of that.” You smile. “That’s why above everything, I’m so glad I got to meet you and become friends with you in the process. I mean, you really did show me the pleasures of being your friend. Despite our fight, you always found a way to fix it all up.”
You sucked in a breath with your eyes downcasted. “But Sunwoo, with all the moments we shared, I don’t… even know what we are. The more time we spend with each other, the more boundaries keep getting crossed.”
And you finally let it out. “Sunwoo, what do you want from this—from us? I can’t just let you get away with all the flirting, the compliments, even the kisses.”
You hear Sunwoo chuckle which makes your eyes look up to him.
“It’s just funny when you mention kisses as if you didn’t leave me a kiss the night I brought you home.” You cannot help but let a giggle slip out.
“Okay, I’m at fault too. But I’m serious now—I don’t think I would’ve given you that… kiss if it weren’t for all the times you flirted with me.”
Sunwoo smiles as you whisper those last words. With his free hand, he reaches out to your face to caress your cheek. For a moment, he only looks at you with eyes full of adoration.
“Y/N, I like you and I want something with you.” He tucks your hair behind your ear. “For the longest time, you are the one celebrity crush who I followed closely. In your work, performances, and charisma in your Produce 101 & 1CON days, I always found myself admiring you and feeling supported by you. Even if you didn’t know me personally, I always felt as if you motivated me to keep going during my newly debuted days.”
“But when I finally got to work with you, that’s when I got to learn about you more outside of what I saw. In those moments, I realized that what started off as admiration had turned into something intimate and genuine.”
Sunwoo’s thumb draws patterns on your cheekbone. “Remember how I admitted to having a bigger dream other than collaborating with you?”
“Yeah, can’t believe I wasn’t your number one wish.”
“Well, you are.” You cannot help but smile at his words.
“For a long time, I think you’ve always felt like this unattainable wish to have. Yet, I worked so hard to be able to meet and work with you—the universe listened,” He whispers those last words as if he stored such beautiful phrases within him.
“I mean it when I never expected a genuine crush to develop within me when I got to know you more. I don’t want you to think that all of what I feel is based on the crush I had on you when I saw you on TV. No matter what, I never want you to doubt the feelings I have for you.” The moment Sunwoo smiles, you feel every limb of your body filled with warmth.
Before he could say any more, you felt your eyes flicker down to his lips. With him aware of that action, he held himself back from saying anything. His breath hitches at such a small action. As you feel yourself slowly lean in, you let your eyes flicker back up to his.
“Can I?” You whisper.
Instead of Sunwoo replying verbally, he closed the gap between you two. You wish there were words to describe what it feels like to kiss him. For now, you can only think of one word—overwhelmed.
There were so many emotions that came with the kiss; genuineness, joy, and desperation were to name a few. Sunwoo’s plump lips on yours were something you dreamt about late at night; you cannot believe that the dream came true. In the same he described you as an unattainable wish, kissing him felt the same as well. As you feel yourself get stuck in a daze with the kiss, you break it off and rest your forehead against his.
“... Wow.” You felt your heart hammer in your chest as you processed what just happened between you two.
“Was that okay?” He whispers with his eyes still on you.
You take a deep breath. “It was more than okay. I just–I felt so overwhelmed.”
“We can take it down a notch if you would want.”
“No!” You said a little too quickly which made him grin.
“No?” He mocks you.
You scoff. “Just shut up.” And you brought his lips back on yours.
With your lips interlocked for the second time, you cannot help but wrap your arms around his neck. It is as if there is some carnal desire within you to be as close to him as possible. Nothing is on your mind except for Sunwoo; his smile; his heart of gold; his ability to make you smile; his lips. You feel Sunwoo start to smile in the kiss which has you parting ways.
“God, Y/N—I didn’t know you wanted me that bad.”
You frown at him. “As if you don’t want me too, Mr. “I have always had a crush on you” like…” Despite your words, you cannot help the smile that threatens to show itself on your lips.
“Yeah, I do want you,” Sunwoo says so casually as if he did not know the effect his words had.
You feel yourself blush. “You know, you say that shit so easily to me that a part of me started to believe that this was just your way of being friendly and that I was looking too much into it—though many people did keep saying you were hitting on me. Do you do this with others you work with?”
“You talked about me to other people?”
“That’s what you got from what I said?”
Sunwoo lets out a laugh. “I was hitting on you. To be honest, I was doing it since I first met you but I think everything started to feel genuine during our first time in the convenience store. I mean, that’s when I got to actually know you but I’ll never really know when I first started liking you that way. All I know now is that I like you now, no matter if you were in 1CON or not.” He smiles. “And no, I usually think I don’t pay attention much to others the same way I do with you.”
The great thing about Sunwoo is that he always tries to soothe your doubts. Somehow, the universe gave you someone who likes you for all that you are. You two had your own baggage that you guys brought to the relationship, but you knew that anything felt possible as long as he was there.
“Now, what did you tell others about me?”
“Can you not?”
“You know I can’t. I like knowing how much you like me.”
Tumblr media
It is 1:47 PM. You were dressed up in semi-formal attire appropriate for meetings. As you held your iPad close to your chest, you felt your palms getting sweaty and your heartbeat booms loud in your ears. The last time you were this nervous was when you were waiting for the final line-up results for 1CON.
“Y/N?” The secretary called out your name.
As you shot up from your seat, the secretary pointed to a door. “You can enter now.”
Once you made your way to the door, you felt yourself take a moment to breathe. The nerves were getting the best of you, but you knew that now is not the time to ruin your chances. You swung the door open and were greeted by Song Jooyoung and Choi Kyusung—the members of Black Eyed Pilseung and CEOs of High-Up Entertainment.
“Ah, Y/N! It is so nice to meet you once again,” Mr. Song says as he gets up from his chair to shake your hand.
“Ah, Mr. Song and Mr. Choi, it is a pleasure to see you once more.” Once Mr. Song took a seat, you sat in the chair across the two.
“I guess it is only right to first say that we were pleasantly surprised to see you when we opened auditions. It’s not all the time that you see Korea’s sweetheart wanting to audition for your company,” Mr. Choi says.
You smile at the two. “You’ve certainly improved since 1CON disbanded. Not only have you been producing music for yourself and artists but your vocals and movements have certainly grown over the years. When you weren’t signed, were you actively practicing?”
“Actually, I think I’ve been slacking when it comes to dancing. It was really me, my old manager, and two colleagues that really helped in making sure I would still be relevant in the industry.” You admit to Mr. Song.
“I mean, we can only imagine. It must have been a difficult experience,” Mr. Song says.
You let out a sigh. “It’s… definitely an experience. I think I learned a lot from this.”
“Well, you will have all the time to tell us about it later on. We evaluated your audition along with your recent works over the past two years,” Mr. Choi starts off. “After careful consideration, both Jooyoung and I agreed that you would be perfect for High-Up Entertainment. With your current skill set, we believe we can help you further hone these in hopes that you can reach your true potential.”
“Here in High-Up, we believe in the importance of artistic freedom. Not only will you be able to share your aspirations and dreams with us but we will guide you all throughout the process. Rest assured, you will not be alone—it is important to us that our artists can speak of what they wish to pursue,” Mr. Song says.
“Y/N, we know how difficult you’ve had it in the industry as an independent artist. Most of the time, you are criticized or praised for choosing to work on your own.” Mr. Choi takes a deep breath. “But we want to make sure that you know that we are here to support you every step of the way. You won’t have to work alone anymore.”
You feel yourself smile at the news. It means a lot to you for Mr. Choi and Mr. Song to say those words. After being subjected to mistreatment by different companies and being pushed under the spotlight for everyone to comment on everything you do, it warmed your heart to know that there are people who do care.
Not everyone is wishing on your downfall, and not everyone wants to treat you like a tool. Over the course of time, you realized that some people want to see you succeed.
“Thank you so much for having me,” You say as you bow your head.
“Before we officially sign you into the company, we will briefly discuss the terms of your contract. We will be sending it to your email right now,” Mr. Choi says as he types away on his laptop.
“Are you free to go over it? Don’t worry, we won’t pressure you to sign it right away. After all, we want you to have enough time to carefully deliberate.”
Instead of verbally answering Mr. Song, you opted for a nod.
“Alright, let’s get started.”
Tumblr media
“Soeun, I got in!” You exclaim as you were seated on the bus going back to your place.
“Oh my god, I’m so happy for you! And you’re under the care of Black Eyed Pilseung.”
“Don’t worry, I haven’t signed the contract.”
You hear Soeun let out a sigh of relief. “Oh thank god, Y/N. Please let me look through it tonight and I’ll email you back.” You chuckle at her reaction.
“Of course. I’ll be sending the original and revised contracts your way. It’s funny how you’re still looking out for me even if you work in IST now.”
“I’ll always look out for you.” You smile at Soeun’s reply.
It’s been four months since Soeun officially resigned from being your manager. During those four months, you did not accept any offers for any collaborations. You knew that it would make your life complicated if you entertained any offers without any manager present. Instead, you focused on creating more tracks for yourself and scouting a company that you felt is worth trusting.
The bus was nearing your stop. As you got off your seat, you waited for the doors to open.
“Thank you, Soeun. I mean, you’ve done so much for me,” You say as you finally step out of the bus.
“Hey, I hope you’re still not beating yourself up over the fact I left JYP Entertainment with you. That was my decision, you know?” Soeun said as you were walking back to your place.
You let out a sigh. “I know, but it was hard to just be… okay with it. But I hope you're enjoying what you do in IST.”
“I actually am. I’ve been helping out Jihoon often with The Boyz and handling some of the trainees. You know, Jihoon was not lying when he said The Boyz are really… boys.” You let out a laugh at Soeun’s sharing.
“C’mon, it’s a group of like 11 guys. You must have at least expected it.”
Soeun groans. “I know. Thankfully, they’re nice and fun to be with most of the time. Though they can get out of hand.” You can only laugh.
You finally reached your place and tried to fish out your keys. “Hey, I’ll call you back. I just got back to my place. I’ll send you the documents later.”
“No worries! Take care and love you!”
“Love you Soeun! Thank you again.” Once she hangs up, you successfully retrieve your keys and unlock the door.
As you entered your home, you closed the door behind you. “I’m home!”
“Welcome back!” Sunwoo says as he comes from the kitchen dressed up in a sweater and checkered sleep pants.
You and Sunwoo have been together since you confronted him the night of his showcase. Most times, you found yourselves staying at your place since Sunwoo shares a dorm with Chanhee, Changmin, and Younghoon. During the past months, Sunwoo has been with you during this weird unemployment but self-discovery period. Never was he ever condescending to you, and you needed that desperately.
“Hey, you,” You say once Sunwoo pecks you on the lips.
“You know, you still look so good in that outfit.”
You chuckle as he looks at you from top to bottom. “I know Sunwoo, you said that when you saw me getting ready.”
“Yeah, but…” Sunwoo gives you one more kiss. “I just want to remind you.”
“Well, thank you. I like those pants on you.”
“You like it more when it’s off.”
You roll your eyes. “Point taken.”
As you made your way to the living room, Sunwoo followed closely behind you. The two of you took a seat on the couch.
“So… how did the meeting go?” Sunwoo finally asks.
You smile at him. “I got in!”
“Really? Y/N, that’s huge!” He says as he brings you into an embrace.
“I know! It’s crazy that I might be working under Black Eyed Pilseung.” You giggle at his reaction.
He gives you a kiss on the forehead. “I’m so proud of you. I never doubted you.”
“Yeah. During all the times I was panicking, you were always there to keep me at ease,” You murmur as you nuzzle your face into his neck.
“Though, I need to go through the contract again with Soeun. Wanna go through it with me tonight?”
“Of course, I’d do anything for you,” Sunwoo says as kisses your cheek.
You feel yourself smile at his words. He never fails to comfort you with words that feel as if they came out of a poet (though you could consider him a poet with how many lyrics he has written).
“I know you do, and I’d do anything for you too,” You say as you look up at him.
“Yeah, you let me stay in your home even when you’re not around.”
You roll your eyes. “Sunwoo, you practically live here at this point considering all the times you’ve slept over.”
“You don’t want me over?” He pouts.
“You know I do.” You look away from him only to be greeted with more kisses all over your face.
“Of course I do!” He teases as you groan playfully at his kisses.
“Sunwoo! You’re so obsessed with me.” He laughs and gives you one more kiss on the lips.
For a moment, you two look at each other with adoration. Nothing was said but it did not matter for all that needed to be uttered was shared in that moment.
“I love you,” Sunwoo whispers.
You feel your lips quiver at Sunwoo’s confession. Never did you ever expect yourself to be liked by someone in the way Sunwoo likes you.
“I love you too,” You say in response.
As you see Sunwoo smile at your words, you knew that your future would have him in it. At that moment, you knew how lucky you were to be loved by Sunwoo.

The day of my cousin's wedding is here. Day 2 of pretending to date my ex boyfriend. My last full day with him around. I'm fully ready and sitting on my hotel bed waiting for Javy to knock on my door so we can leave for the ceremony.
Last night was honestly so strange. Watching the way Javy is with my parents and how easily he shifted back into the role of my boyfriend. It really was like we never broke up, but its just for show. Everything he says, every stolen glance, every sweet gesture. Its all fake. The smile, the laughter, and everything else is. His eyes. So expressive, telling me just how different he feels. He's happy to see me again, obviously, and even though he's acting, it hurts to look at him. Seeing him act like that just reminded me of how much I love him. How much he meant to me.
My thoughts are interrupted by a knock at the door. I open without checking to see Javy there, black suit fitting his frame well. My heart skips a beat just looking at him.
"Hey." I greet, opening the door more.
"Hey." He smiles before his eyes drift down to fully take in my outfit. It's a simple off the shoulder dress that's a light blue shade. "You look-- wow." Javy's eyes don't leave me for a moment when he speaks.
"Yeah, I guess." I bite the inside of my cheek.
"So, how do I look?" He jokes, making random poses to show off his suit.
I give him a small laugh, "You look great, Javy."
"Shall we then?" He holds out his hand.
"Let's go." I respond, resting my right hand in the crook of his elbow and let him lead me all the way to the car that drives us to the venue.
Javy and I sat in the seats talking about anything that came to mind and before we knew it the ceremony was underway. I barely heard a word the priest said as my mind drifted. Suddenly it wasn't my cousin standing up there. It was me. And then Javy was there. He smiled at me, the same loving smile he gives me every time we spend time together. It was the same smile I'd seen before. On the ice, after he won his first championship freshman year of college. Javy had just performed a hat trick and pointed directly to me as he skated around the rink and back to his team. I was crying, and I remember thinking that I'd never love anyone like I did him.
And just like that the wedding was over and everyone was making their way to the reception hall.
Javy guided me to our table, hand in hand just minutes before the newlyweds made their entrance. After speeches and toasts, plus the dances, the party was in full swing and I was posted up on the side with a few of my cousins catching up.
"Hey guys! Can I borrow Nat for a minute?" My cousin Jess, the bride, asks as she joins the group.
Immediately all of my cousins disperse and I'm left with Jess without a word. "Oh Nat I missed you!" She squeals, pulling me into a hug.
"I missed you too Jess." I chuckle and let go.
"So, a little birdie told me," Her face drops dead serious as she speaks, "That your hottie of a boyfriend was sleeping in a different room than you."
I can't be certain if the color in face faded or not but I do know that my stomach dropped when she said that.
"Now I knew that couldn't be correct because I know you."
I chuckle awkwardly. Please please please let us be in the clear.
"So imagine my surprise when I'm walking back to my room last night and I see you go in one room and Javy goes into a different one." She almost playfully gasps.
"Uhm…"
"And I mean, why would you do that?"She laughs. "And then it hit me. Your relationship with Javy is totally fake." Jess crosses her arms over her chest. "Don't tell me that this whole thing has been a joke?"
"What? Jess that's crazy!" I defend. "You had quite a bit to drink last night."
"No, I know what I saw."
"Jess, Javy and I have been dating for almost 3 years!"
"Uh huh. And the separate rooms?" Jess questions.
"Javy and I slept in the same room last night. So whatever you think you saw, you're wrong." I stand firm.
"Fine. Prove it then. Walk right over there and kiss him." Jess proposes. "Haven't seen an ounce of PDA from you two." She adds as an afterthought.
"What? No!" I scoff. "I'm not doing that." I try to reason.
"Why not? If you've been dating for three years than it shouldn't be a problem, right?" She points out. ""Kiss him, and I won't tell the entire family."
Oh dear god. She's gonna know when he doesn't do it.
"Fine." I smile before walking towards Javy. "Here goes nothing."

*************
Don't your feet get cold in the wintertime?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the nighttime from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?
From Desperado by The Eagles, Lyrics: Don Henley, Glenn Frey
August soon lost count. They had sex often after he had been able to dispel Helen's worries regarding protection by revealing that he had a vasectomy years ago. So they fucked almost every day, but Helen wasn't up for more than foreplay and the sex itself. It was always the same, when they were done she got up to take a shower before going on with her daily tasks and it left him feeling strangely used and empty.
After their first time he had mentioned that the folding bed seemed to be an unnecessary loan now and Helen's reaction had left him speechless. She had laughed out loud.
"I don't think so. I'm not planning on sharing the bed with you...August." His real name just wouldn't flow smoothly from her lips at this time.
"Why not? We've just fucked."
"That's sex, just physical. Sharing a bed is intimate. It requires trust and I'm sorry but I can't trust you as long as you don't tell me who you are and what you're involved in."
"I'm not going to rape or murder you in your sleep", he snorted, rolling his eyes.
"I know, but still…"
And so, since he still hadn't told her the truth about August "The Hammer" Walker and John Lark, they fucked but they didn't sleep together. August found it quite ridiculous but he couldn't do much but accept it.  He just wasn't willing to reveal the dirty truth, even after Helen had finally told him about the FBI guy that had nosed around in the village and about that file that proved that his enemies considered him to be dead. He was too scared she would kick him out of her house and out of her life. He wasn't ready to lose her. Not yet.
Instead he got accustomed to the situation and in the next weeks they established a domestic routine that was new to both of them. Helen usually worked in the mornings. She was a journalist and writer and to his surprise August found out that in fact she was a bestselling author. She had published three books so far. One about her hermit life in Kashmir, one about the region as a destination for backpackers and an illustrated book that was dedicated to the beautiful nature in the Dachigam National Park and all three of them had been pretty successful in the US. So she worked on her new book till noon almost every day and August worked on his recovery, doing all kinds of exercises indoors and outdoors.
After lunch they did anything that had to be done around the house and Helen often left for a walk to collect berries and mushrooms or to take photos in the afternoon. August usually read a book when she was gone but on this day he decided to join her. He had done some runs in a small radius around the hut but he had never really explored the surroundings and he felt like missing out on something. Plus, if he was honest with himself, he wanted to spend some time with Helen. Quality time.
So they strolled through the woods on this beautiful, sunny day, enjoying the warmth of the sun and a light breeze that chilled their cheeks. Helen took a bunch of pictures, concentrating on moss and lichens that grew on giant rocks and gnarled, old trees. August was waiting for her to take a shot of an overgrown branch, leaning against a rock wall, his face turned towards the sun, his eyes closed. "Stay exactly like this." Helens soft voice made him smile but when he heard her camera click he opened his eyes with a frown. "What are you doing?" He turned his face away from her and started to walk on. "Taking pictures of you. You looked great in that light, all lost in thought." She jogged a few steps to keep up with him. "Oh yeah", he snorted, "I'm sure I looked like a supermodel." She stopped him by tugging at the sleeve of his jacket. "You looked like yourself. Confident and very handsome." Her smile touched him in a way that made his stomach flip and he really didn't know how to reply to her compliment. He just gave her a helpless smile and Helen placed a hand on his burnt temple, giving him a tender smile in return. August grinned the awkwardness away and when he turned around his eyes fell on a huge rock that was completely flat on the top , building a natural lookout point over the region. "Look", he said pointing upwards, "the view from up there must be fantastic."
"Yeah. Maybe." Helen gave him a look he couldn't really read. "Let's just go back home, okay?"
"First I wanna go up there." August ran his hands over the rough surface of the stones, glancing up to figure out the best way to climb the cliff.
"No, that's a bad idea, August. It's too dangerous, and your ankle…"
"My ankle is fine, Helen. It's been more than 8 weeks now. It's completely cured."
"Still... you're not a climber, you could get hurt." She sounded strangely anxious and August had no idea why. The cliff was very rocky, so that natural steps could easily be found and it wasn't very high. It didn't seem to be dangerous at all.
"You don't have to join me. I'll climb up quickly and will be back in a few minutes. You can take pictures of me conquering the mountain." He winked at her before he put a foot on a ledge and started to climb.
"No! August, please…" Helen yelled at him, the despair in her voice making him stop immediately. He turned to Helen with a frown. "I'll be carful, I promise."
"No! Don't do this. Please don't." She sank down on her knees, sobbing, staring at him pleadingly, her voice weak and trembling. August hopped off the rock and kneeled down beside her, taking her in his arms. She was crying now, hiding her face in her hands.
"Helen, calm down. I'm here, I won't climb, okay?" She wasn't able to answer, she just clinged to his body, weeping uncontrollably. He hugged her in a tight embrace, cradling her, rocking her trembling body gently back and forth. To his own surprise it didn't feel awkward or forced, it felt natural, he wanted to comfort her, he wanted to hold her and to be the one to make her feel safe and sound and all this made him realize that he had slowly and somehow unnoticed fallen for her.
He'd been in love before, of course, he hadn't always been a bitter, cold-hearted jerk, but that was years ago in what felt like a different life. So August Walker knew love but with time he had forgotten about the sensation, after far too many disappointments in his life, not only in love but mainly in his job, he had pushed all positive emotions aside and his heart had gone numb before turning into a stone. It seemed like Helen, with her tough, aloof but captivating and caring personality, was able to touch his heart, to make him feel again, to make him love again. The thought alone scared the fuck out of him but now was not the time to worry about himself, now it was time to take care of Helen.
"Shhh... it's okay. Everything is fine, Henny." He'd never called her that before, it was his secret nickname for her, he just used it in his thoughts, and when she heard it she lifted her head to look at him with a hint of a smile, her eyes still overflowing with tears. "I'm sorry," she sobbed.
"No need to be sorry. Just try to calm down." He smiled at her tenderly and gave her hair some soft strokes, still holding her in his arms. When Helen started to relax and her breath went back to normal, August pressed a kiss on her forehead. "Are you okay?"
"Yes." Helen gave him a sheepish grin. "I guess you think I'm totally nuts now." She blushed a little and August gave her a wink. "Don't worry. I've seen worse."
They didn't talk for several minutes, they just sat on the ground in the sun, snuggled up to each other.
"It's because of Allison", Helen broke the silence eventually, "she died like this."
"She died climbing?" August asked softly and Helen nodded, a sad look on her face. "Yes, and it was my fault."
"You said she died in an accident."
"Yeah, but it was still my fault."
"Tell me about it", August asked and after a short moment of hesitation Helen took a deep breath and started to talk. She told him how she and Allison had been on a backpack trip 8 years ago, both of them working for a travel magazine, preparing  a report about Jammu and Kashmir, Helen as the writer, Allison as the photographer. They had stayed in the hut Helen lived in now, doing day trips to explore the region. Helen had heard of a special spot, a mountain that not only offered a spectacular view on a hidden lake but that also was kind of a biotope, a habitat for rare plants she wanted to write about. Allison had been hesitant about the idea of going there because they both were hikers, not climbers but Helen had persuaded her. When they had reached a plateau just below the top of the mountain Helen had backed out at the sight of the steep, exposed mountain ridge they would have to manage to get to the summit. She had refused to go any further but Allison wasn't willing to give up so close to their goal. Helen had begged her not to do it but Allison had insisted on trying. She had climbed only a few yards when she'd lost balance.
"I'll never forget the surprised sound she made when she fell. She hit a rock, hurting her head and she broke her back when she landed on the rocky ground of the plateau. It was terrifying." Helen was crying again, softly this time. August took her hand to soothe her and it seemed to work. She was able to talk again. "There was nothing I could do for her besides holding her hand. She had a fractured skull and internal bleeding. She died in my arms."
"I'm so sorry, Helen. That must have been dreadful", he squeezed her hand and he truly felt the sympathy that was showing in his eyes, "but this wasn't your fault. It was an accident."
"An accident that wouldn't have happened if I hadn't made her go on this stupid trip."
"You didn't know that it was dangerous. And it was her decision to climb on the ridge." August's voice was soft and tender and Helen was grateful for his sensitivity and his kind words. She rested her head against his chest with a sigh. "I know. The rational part of me knows that, but the irrational parts of my mind will never stop feeling that dreadful guilt. I just can't shake it off."
"Yeah, I know the feeling." August smiled at her and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Why did you stay?"
"I stayed because I needed a safe space to process what had happened and to mourn. I wanted to return to Maine when I felt ready to face the world again…"
"But you're still here."
"Yeah, I grew to like my hermit life and I fell in love with a man who helped me to deal with this tragedy. And so I decided to stay for good."
"Naseer?" August guessed.
"Yes. He was such a great support. He was always there for me, helped me to buy the hut, to renovate and furnish it according to my taste but our love didn't last. In the long run he wanted me to move to his farm, to become his wife and mother to his children, to live a traditional life as a married couple. But that wasn't my dream, not my vision of my future."
"But you're still friends."
"We are. Now. It took us a few years but after his wedding we found a way to leave the past behind and become friends. He's my only friend actually."
"No, he's not", August said softly and Helen gave him a grateful smile. "Thank you. For...all this. Listening and comforting me...and, well." She shrugged, blushing, gesturing vaguely at him and her and their surroundings.
"Of course. You took good care of me, today I take care of you, okay? Just tell me what you need."
Helen nodded. "I want to go home. Let's go back and watch a movie?"
"Sure. Haven't watched a movie in ages."
They got up and walked back to the house and Helen felt strangely happy when she linked arms with him and he let it happen. She knew it was foolish to become emotionally involved with a man she knew close to nothing about, who hid every personal information from her, who was bossy and cocky and way too stubborn for his own good, but she still couldn't help it. She was falling for August Walker and there was nothing she could do about it. It wasn't the sex, not only. He was a great lover, sure, experienced and skilled but what she really liked about him besides that physical component was his dry sense of humor, his cleverness, his confidence, his dignity and his passion. The way he had fought himself back to life, his willpower, the determination to work on his recovery as soon as he was able to leave the bed, ignoring all pain and exhaustion, had shown her that he was a fighter, a survivor. A strong, protective man she was so attracted to, it really scared her and it was also pretty embarrassing that she was so turned on by his alpha male vibes and the caveman attitude. But there was more to him. He had this broody, emotional side too and she was sure deep down inside he was pretty sensitive and maybe even warm hearted. And so over the weeks she had grown feelings for him, she'd tried to fight hard but unsuccessfully. Each time she went to the bathroom after having sex with August, it was a kind of helpless and futile attempt to wash away her emotions and pour the loving feelings down the drain. Unfortunately it never took more than one look into his eyes to resurrect them.
An hour later August and Helen were sitting on her couch in front of the TV, sharing a blanket and a plate with fruits and berries, waiting for the movie to begin. She had chosen a film called "The Shape of Water" he had never heard of before. The cover of the DVD was pretty strange, showing a couple hugging under water, the woman looking ordinary but her partner seemed to be some kind of fishman.
"It's a great movie," Helen said not for the first time, "very moving and romantic. The female protagonist is an outsider, a mute cleaner in a lab and she falls in love with an amphibian man."
It turned out she was right. The film was amazing and it left August extremely touched and with many questions running around in his head. They were eating the last berries, discussing the end of the movie, when he blurted out what he desperately needed to know.
"Could you fall in love with a monster?"
"He's not a monster. Not to Elisa."
"But everyone considers him to be one."
"Yes, because they don't understand him and his nature, they don't even try. But she does and she knows what lies underneath his spiky appearance."
"So you could? Fall in love with a man who is considered to be a bad man, an enemy, an unscrupulous monster?"
Helen looked him in the eyes, taking her time to answer. "If he was honest with me...if he let me see who he really is...if he explained himself to me and let me draw my own conclusions. Yes, under these conditions, I could fall in love with a monster. I'd rather have an honest monster than a lying saint."
August closed his eyes with a sigh that was full of relief but also filled with fear.
"Well, then let this monster tell you its story."
"You're not a monster…", Helen turned to look at him with a deep frown.
"No, Helen, please. Just listen, okay? And then -as you said- you can draw your own conclusions."
She gave him a nod and August started to talk. He told Helen about his loveless childhood with physically and emotionally absent parents, his youth as the time he gained recognition for being an extraordinarily good athlete and how it turned him into a confident, popular jock. His career at the CIA, his life as an agent, doing all the dirty jobs efficiently, eliminating public enemies indiscriminately and without asking questions in the first years. He admitted that he was nothing less than an authorized assassin legitimized by the state and he described how he got more and more frustrated with time, questioning his job, the national authorities and politics. He pointed out to her that his disillusionment, the years of frustration and the feeling of being caught in an unjust and outdated machinery culminated in following the ideas of Solomon Lane and finally in writing a manifesto under the pseudonym of John Lark. The hardest part was to confess that he had planned on eliminating one third of mankind by letting off a nuclear bomb in the mountains of Kashmir to alter things for the better. After he had ended with telling Helen about Ethan Hunt and their fight he was anxiously waiting for her reaction, not daring to look at her.
She didn't say anything for a very long time. When she finally started to speak, her voice sounded weak. "You would have killed me and all the wonderful people in this valley without the blink of an eye if Ethan Hunt hadn't stopped you?"
"Yes."
Helen nodded.
"I see. And if you had another chance, would you try again? Do you still stand by what you wrote in that manifesto?"
"No. I don't. Absolutely not."
"Why not?"
"I've had a lot of time to think about it during the last weeks and I lost my conviction. You've shown me another side of life, of thinking. You have made me feel again. Feelings I haven't had for the longest time. Feelings of love, Helen." August almost whispered the last words, scared of her reaction but Helen just nodded again, her face blank, her expression unreadable.
"Say something, Helen. Please." He took her hand but she pulled away.
"I can't, August. Not yet. I need time to process all you've just told me. I need some time on my own."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means I'm going to return the folding bed to Naseer tonight and I'm going to ask him if I can stay with him and his family for a few days because I don't feel well and don't want to be alone. I'll return when I've made up my mind and when I have we won't need a second bed anymore. One way or another."

Okay I know this took two days but remember when I said I was NOT going to make another chapter? Well I had to just fit multiple chapters into this last one. Because dammit it will STOP HERE.
Except for the epilogue.
So here it is, I hope the anticipation and the hype doesn't ruin it for you, I did my best!
Also thank you so much for coming on this ride with me, it's been the longest one yet! I'm going to miss Pinguino and Raffi, but they'll be fine.

---------------------------------
It was finally the night before your wedding day. The day you had been waiting for since you had first kissed Rafael, if you were being totally honest. You were staying at Chloe’s due to the whole traditional “not seeing each other” before the wedding; it was the first night you had spent away from Rafael since the whole “Nevada” debacle. You wanted to prove to him and yourself that you could spend one night without him cuddling you like a toddler afraid to sleep in their own bed. But the more you drank during your “last girl’s night” the more the demons came out for you. Before you knew it you were hiding in your old bathroom dialing Rafael’s number.
“Baby aren’t you--” He started to ask you but you cut him off.
“Do you still want to marry me?”
“Ay dios,” You heard him chuckle. “Si, mi amor,”
“¿Estás seguro?” You asked worriedly.
“Yes carino,” He said very seriously. “I am very very sure,”
“...Okay,” You said in a small voice.
“Now go have fun and tell Chloe not to let you drink anymore, comprende?”
“Si,” You rolled your eyes. As you came out of the bathroom, you were greeted by Maria who was now in your former living room...for some reason.
“Hey babe, so Maria came by for--”
“I came by to ask you a favor, mija,” Maria cut Chloe off.
“Oh um--” You tried to act more sober around the only mother figure you’d really been around since forever. “Yeah sure! What’s up?”
“Well, I know we haven’t known each other that long, but Raffi is basically my son, so I consider you like a daughter,” She smiled sweetly at you, and you were suddenly aware that she was carrying a box with her.
“Oh, well that’s very sweet of you Maria,” You tried your best not to look uncomfortable.
“My husband Felipe and I,” She explained as she opened the box. “We were never able to conceive children ourselves,” She pulled out a very ancient looking, very detailed veil from the box.
“This veil has been worn by many generations in my family, and if I can’t pass it onto my own daughter, it would be my honor to give it to you to wear tomorrow,”
“Oh, Maria,” You did your best to hide your disgust for the veil, looking at her teary eyed smile. You glanced over her head and caught Chloe’s gaze; she was making a face that mimicked how you felt. It was like one of those fruit hats women wore in movies or commercials, only white and frilly. But what could you do?
“I’d be honored to wear it,” You nodded sweetly. Maria threw her arms around you with a tearful cry of joy. Behind her Chloe waved her arms wildly like “what the hell are you doing?!”. You could just shrug like “what else am I supposed to do?!”
“Bless you, hermosa,” She kissed you on the cheek as she stood up to leave. “Now I’ll leave you ladies to your fun,” She smiled and waved as she walked out the door.
“...What the hell?” Chloe couldn’t help but erupt in giggles as she properly examined the monstrosity.
“Shut up,” You tossed a pillow at her. “What was I supposed to do?! She was asking me to carry on her family name, or something,” You looked at the door where she had left; although you were still pretty drunk so you half remembered the conversation.
“Well if Rafael marries you while you wear this, you know it’s true love,” She snickered as she put it on you and turned you towards a mirror above your key ring holder.
“Oh God…” You threw your hands over your face and fell onto the couch face forward.
“Hey hey hey, don’t wrinkle it!” Chloe continued to tease and giggle. “That thing probably came over in some old Cuban woman’s raft,”
“I hate you,” You muttered through the cushions.
“You’ll hate me more if I don’t get you in bed right now,” Chloe shook her head with a laugh and a bottle of water. “But first, drink this. We don’t want you hungover on your big day,”
“Thanks mom,” You took the water and headed to your room, leaving the veil on the couch.
------------------
The next day Chloe woke you up by jumping up and down on your bed yelling “IT’S YOUR WEDDING DAY!!!”
“...Jesus Christ Chloe,” You grumbled. “It’s too early for this,”
“Too early?” She scoffed, plopping right on your butt making you grunt. “Nonsense. It’s your wedding day!!”
“Which begs the question why you’re so happy about it,” You raised a suspicious eyebrow.
“What? I can't be happy for my best friend to get her happy ending?” She feigned offense.
“....Uh huh”, You continued to give her the look.
“And the fact that my bridesmaid’s dress makes me look like a classy pornstar?” She added.
“....An oxymoron, but go on,” You waited for it.
“....And the fact that every eligible lawyer and cop are gonna be at this wedding?!” She finally exclaimed.
“There it is,” You nodded your head with a roll of your eyes as you threw on some clothes to go downstairs.
------
There was a limo waiting outside Chloe’s apartment for you and her. You hesitated getting in, remembering the last time you were in one of them. Chloe decided she’d do a ‘sweep’ for you. She jumped in and slid down the seats, squealing in delight.
“All clear babe! Check out what the husband left you!”
You cautiously slid in the limo to see Chloe pointing to a mini bar/fridge full of sweet pastries and champagne.
“Good lord,” You shook your head with a smile. “Chloe maybe we--” You were starting to say maybe at least wait until 11 am to start drinking, but she had already popped the champagne.
“Here,” She grabbed orange juice from the mini fridge. “Mimosas, the breakfast drink,”
You just stared at the drink she was trying to hand you; orange liquid in a champagne flute. You closed your eyes and told yourself the mind elixir was bright orange like Fanta, not orange juice. You took a deep breath and slowly accepted the mimosa, sipping it. See? You were fine. Everything was fine.
-------------
As you pulled up to St. Michael’s you saw it was swarmed with cameras, reporters, and people in general. It looked like a circus. You saw the crowd and silently wished you had said screw tradition and had Rafael there with you. But you were a big girl, and you had Chloe.
“...Can we get out somewhere less...this?” You nervously asked your driver.
“Absolutely ma’am, I’ll find a private entrance. No problem,”
“Thank you,” You sighed in relief.
-----
After driving around the church a few times, the driver finally found a side street blocked off. He informed the copper he had you in the limo, and the cop waved your limo inside. Chloe jumped out of the limo while holding your hand, nearly breaking your arm.
“Oh! Wait! Hey Jeeves, can we get those pastries and mimosa’s in the lady’s bridal suite?”
“Chloe his name is not--”
“It’s fine, ma’am,” The driver chuckled. “I’ll make sure the refreshments are delivered to your dressing room,”
“You’re a doll,” She blew him a kiss before she continued pulling you through the huge building like she knew exactly where you were going.
“Excuse me, where do we go?” Chloe asked a random man in a suit.
“Oh, it’s you Ms. Y/N!” The man pulled out a camera and began snapping photos.
“Oh my god--- What is WRONG with you people?!” Chloe shoved him aside and took you down another corridor. Finally you reached a doorway that was guarded by two armed guards.
“Hi, do you know--”
“Right this way,” One of them took your hand. “Mr. Barba is already inside getting ready,” He nodded to the door as you walked away. You wanted so badly to swing open the door and jump into his arms, but you knew you had to stay calm.
“Great!” You did your best to smile at him as he led you and Chloe down the hall to another doorway. He opened it to reveal a huge room with a vanity, a changing wall, two long body mirrors and a lush couch. Two sinks lined the wall and a room with a toilet was behind it. Yours and Chloe’s dresses were hanging on the changing wall, and sitting on the vanity were your treats from the limo.
“Weee! Look at all of this!!!” Chloe clapped her hands and giggled wildly as she danced around the lavish room.
“I mean, it is nice--”
“Nice? God I wish I was getting married here!” Chloe sighed as she poured herself another mimosa.
“Well, if you ever find a man I’ll look into it,” You teased her.
“Uh I think you mean WHEN,” She pointed out. “And I think the ‘when’ will be by tonight!”
“My wedding reception isn’t a singles mixer, Chloe,” You rolled your eyes.
“Well of course not,” She shook her head. “It’s a BALL!”
“Oh good god,” You groaned with a small laugh as you poured yourself a mimosa and downed it.
“Whoa there killer, let’s slow it down there,” She gave you a look. “Wouldn’t want you stumbling down the aisle in front of a million people,”
“...Do you think you’re helping?” You asked her in an annoyed tone.
“Sorry, sorry,” She apologized as there was a knock at the door. Chloe answered it to see two women carrying makeup cases and hair tools.
“We’re here to get you ready, Ms. Y/L/N,” One of them smiled at you.
“And her maid of honor, right?” Chloe jumped in.
“Uh...if that’s what the bride wants,” The other one looked at you with a wary stare.
“Yeah that’s fine, actually please do her first by all means,” You waved them over to the long sink wall and vanity.
“You’re a good friend,” Chloe put her hands over your face with tears in her eyes as she smiled.
“...You’re ridiculous,” You patted her head sweetly before she sat in the vanity, ready to be made over.
While Chloe was being turned into a princess, you walked over and admired your dress that looked like it was made for one. It was a long, cream white colored sleeveless dress with intricate cubic zirconia diamonds sewn into the bust. It was the simplest dress Chloe had let you pick. Suddenly you remembered the cornucopia veil, it was sitting on the couch in the box Maria had brought it over in. You pulled it out and put it on; when one of the stylists saw it she gasped.
“Oh, ma’am, I don’t know--”
“My...mother, asked me to wear it,” You stopped her.
“Right,” She nodded uncomfortably while Chloe tried not to laugh at the disgusted faces they were clearly trying to hide.
---------------
After what seemed like hours, you and Chloe were finally done in full make up and up do's. One of the ladies picked up the ancient headwear and tried positioning on your hair as best she could. She took several tries, using hair pins and hairspray before she finally stepped back.
“Lovely,” She smiled as she stepped back to admire her work. You looked in the vanity mirror to see your finished look. The headdress felt like it weighed five pounds, but it was intricately woven into your hair, there was no getting it out now. You longed for the moment Rafael would rip it off your head as soon as you were alone in your honeymoon suite...or, y’know before then.
“Well we’ll see you out there ma’am,” One of them nodded as they gathered their stuff and scooted out the door, leaving you and Chloe alone once again.
“Well,” Chloe examined your head. “At least you won’t lose it…” She was cut off by a knock at the door. You started to open it when you recognized those eyes.
“Rafa!” You slammed the door and yelled through it. “What are you doing? We can’t see each other before the wedding, it’s bad luck,”
“Baby I think we’ve gotten all the bad luck already out of the way,” He called through the door. “And I really, really need to talk to you,”
Your eyes widened in panic as you looked at Chloe, who sprung into best friend mode. “Calm yourself, I’m sure it’s nothing…” She walked over and put her hands on your shoulders.
“Stop freaking her out counselor, are you planning to run? Tell me now so I can get out there and tie you to a chair,”
“What? No! I just-- Y/N please will you open the door, por favor?” He sounded seriously distressed, and he used his secret weapon: speaking in spanish.
You sighed and slowly opened the door, revealing Rafael in a gorgeous black and white tux, and the tallest top hat you’d ever seen.
“Well well well, Mr. Monopoly, don’t you look spiffy?” Chloe snickered, causing you to hit her while Rafael made an even more distressed face.
“I knew it, god it’s awful,” He sighed as he took it off his head and walked inside the room.
“So why are you--?” You started to ask.
“The mayor said it would ‘look better on tv’,” He scoffed in disgust.
“Oh Jesus--” You rolled your eyes. “Baby why didn’t you just tell him--?”
“Because that stupid fucking contract we signed said we would go along with everything he said for the rest of this whole shit show!” He growled at the mess he had gotten himself into. The mayor knew damn well how much more “favors” he would ask of him before he signed that contract, he just knew it.
“Well, if it makes you feel any better…” You pointed to your own head. Rafael’s worried expression turned into a relieved smile as he finally noticed the bird’s nest on your scalp.
“...Maria sprung this on me last night,” You pointed to it. “At least you can take yours off,”
“...Well, that does help a bit,” He half smiled as he examined your ceremonial headdress.
“Is that it mi amor, you’re freaking out over a hat?” You put your hand on his face.
“Well our children are going to see these photos! Videos! Our GRANDKIDS! They’re going to think their grandpa was a huge douche,” He cried overdramatically.
“...Is this what it’s like to be with me? Because I don’t love it,” You teased him.
“I’m serious, Y/N! This isn’t funny!” He gave you a pitiful pout.
“...What else?” You gave him an expectant look.
“What else?”
“All of this over a hat?”
“...Alright fine,” He sighed as he sat down on the lush couch. “I know what I said about all that mattered was me and you standing across from each other but--”
“But?” You gave Chloe a worried look.
“But I also wanted someone else,”
“....Who, Olivia?” You rolled your eyes.
“No!” He exclaimed. “No, my childhood priest, Father Hernandez,”
“Oh,” You said with a relieved sigh. “Well, baby why don’t you just--”
“Because they’re being super particular, stupid Catholics!” He got up and started pacing.
“Apparently THEIR priest Father O’Shannon is ‘assigned’ to this place. God forbid anyone dare replace him,” He grumbled as he continued to pace.
“So you--”
“And it’s just the last straw on top of all of this bullshit, all this bending. I can’t do it!!” He threw up his hands in frustration.
“....Baby, breathe,” You stopped his pacing and pressed your forehead against his, your own personal calming gesture.
“God I guess it is true what they say,” Chloe suddenly spoke up, causing you both to give her a perplexed stare.
“In a couple when one person starts to go off the rails the other one instantly becomes the calm rational one,” She gestured between the two of you.
“Hey, I am NOT--” He protested.
“Baby please,” You shook your head. “I almost forgot how high strung you were until this moment,”
“High strung?” He took offense. “What are you talking about?”
“You forget that I worked for you,” You giggled.
“I’m high strung at work?” He asked. The question caused you to erupt in laughter. “What?! Am I?”
“Oh no sweetie, you’re totally mellow,” You smiled sarcastically.
“How am I--?”
“Think about how much coffee you drink at work, Rafa,”
“I don’t see how that is relevant,” He huffed. He loved his coffee, so what?
“...Mmmkay,” You chuckled, kissing his cheek.
“Well whatever, kettle” He made a pouty face.
“Fair,” You chuckled. “But we’re talking about you right now, pot,”
“Hey, I think I have done more than my share of helping you through your little ‘episodes’, it’s your turn!!!” He crossed his arms like a kid.
“Oh really? ‘Episodes’?” You replied in a snarky tone. Chloe sensed the rising tension and sprung into action.
“Okay! I think that’s enough, Pot. Kettle.” Chloe stepped in between you. “You’re clearly both too high strung for this conversation,”
“He started it,” You stuck your tongue out at Rafael like a five year old.
“Okay now let's not turn on each other, then the terrorist headwear wins,” She pointed to the hat on the vanity and your head.
“....Well do you have a solution, Gandhi?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Actually,” She smiled proudly. “I think I do,” She grabbed her phone and began typing something into google maps.
“You wanna share with the class?” Rafael asked as he gave you a look, like you were supposed to understand her crazy.
“.....Have you seen The Office?” She asked them, then glanced at you with a knowing look. Your face turned into a huge grin as you realized what she was implying.
“Chloe, you’re a genius,” You grabbed her in a hug.
“I know,” She nodded with a cocky smile.
-----
Chloe popped her head out of the door, making sure the coast was clear. When she was sure, she motioned to the two of you out and down the hall towards the back door where you left the limo. You and Rafael got in, and Chloe began to shut the door when you stopped her.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“Someone has to vamp!” She pointed out.
“You're a good friend, Chloe,” You gave her a kiss on her head.
“I know,” She said boastfully. “Just hurry, my bubbly personality can’t hold them off for long,” She slammed the door and you were off.
-----
“...Fucking New York traffic! Estúpido tráfico de mierda,,,” Rafael began muttering under his breath. His childhood church in the Bronx was at least thirty minutes away with the busy Manhattan traffic. You put a hand on his knee to try and soothe him, but he was extra wound up by now. It reminded you of when you were just his assistant; he’d get this way when a trial wasn’t going his way and he felt backed into a corner. The worst days you’d seen him have at the office, where he’d suddenly take off for hours in the middle of the day….
That gave you an idea.
“Baby,” You snapped him out of his internal ranting monologue. He turned to you with a dismayed look.
“I’m sorry, carino,” He apologized, taking your hand that was placed on his knee. “I know I’m--”
“Can priests marry people outside of their church?” You simply asked him.
“....Like a closer church?” He looked at you in confusion.
“.....Actually, I was thinking somewhere closer,” You bit your lip with a smile as you took his phone and typed in an address that linked to the driver’s phone map. He glanced down at it and gave you a huge smile.
“You’re the best,” He gave you a huge kiss as the limo made a U-Turn.
------
Luckily Father Gonzalez used a bike for his transportation, so he was able to make it through traffic pretty easily. He met the two of you outside Central Park pretty soon after you got there.
“I appreciate you doing this for us, Padre,” Rafael hugged the priest tightly. “I didn’t want anyone else marrying us,”
“Claro, Rafael,” He smiled. “Of course! I was hoping St. Michael’s would have a change of heart, pero--”
“You know Catholics,” Rafael rolled his eyes.
“Si,” He nodded. “They’re almost as stubborn as you!” The padre chuckled. Then he noticed you.
“Ay, Rafa,” He gestured at you. “es este su prometido?”
“Si,” You nodded. “Soy su prometida,”
“Ay bien! Ella habla español!” Father Gonzalez smiled brightly. “So are you two ready?”
“Si, Padre,” Rafael nodded. “But first, we need the right backdrop,” He grinned as he took your hand and walked into the park.
----
It was the middle of the day on a Saturday so the park was full of families playing, joggers, street artists and the like. Luckily for you however, nobody seemed to want to see the penguins today. The enclosure was almost empty except for one elderly couple.
“Witnesses!” You beamed at Rafael as you calmly walked up to the two and tapped the woman on the shoulder.
“Excuse me,” You smiled sweetly. “Would you-- my fiancé and I, we’re supposed to get married in this huge chapel down the street from here, but it was just all too much circus so we snuck away so that we could just get married in our favorite spot here and--”
“Baby, too much detail,” Rafael laughed. He loved it when you would ramble on about something when you got excited, but you were on a time crunch.
“...Right,” You blushed. “Anyway is there any way--”
“You’d like us to be witnesses, dear?” The old woman smiled brightly at you.
“Yes, if you wouldn’t mind,” You smiled gratefully.
“Of course not!” The man with her chimed in. “Y’know, back in our day, we had to get married in secret too,”
You suddenly noticed that they were an interracial couple; a white woman and a black man. Your smile faded a bit as you thought of the hardships they must have been through, just to be together, similar to you and Rafael.
“Okay, we’ll do the fast version of this, mijos,” The Padre opened his Bible and began to speak, but looked at the two of you.
“Actually, you know you’re going to do this whole spiel in a little while anyway, why don’t you say your vows in your own words while you can?”
“Oh God,” You muttered, then gasped. “I’m so sorry! I--”
“It’s fine, senorita,” He nodded.
“I just...I’m not great, with the speeches and the speaking in public thing,” You twirled the one piece of hair hanging from your updo in your hand nervously.
“I mean, we’re not exactly in public, amor,” Rafael smirked.
“You know what I mean!” You hit him playfully. “I just...I want it to be perfect,”
“If you speak from your heart dear, it will be perfect,” The old woman assured you. “Just look into his eyes and say whatever it is you’re thinking,”
“....Well, maybe not ‘everything’,” The old man added with a laugh, giving you two a raunchy look. Good lord.
“Okay,” You took a deep breath and took Rafael’s hands, looking into his gorgeous green eyes.
“I...um….” You looked down nervously.
“Hey,” Rafael cupped your chin to look at him. “It’s okay, mi amor. It’s just me, it’s just us. Just like I said,”
“Just us,” You smiled, then began to start again.
“Rafael,” You took a deep breath. “It’s...it’s hard for me to make some big speech because the truth is, when I look into your eyes I forget everything. Every wrong decision, every hurdle we’ve been through, it all just...fades away, when you look at me,” You squeezed his hands tighter.
“You have done so much for me in so little time. People probably think that we’re insane because we’re committing our lives to each other after only really knowing each other for a few months, but the truth is it feels like a lifetime. I feel like I was born loving you, I just didn’t know it until I saw you,” His eyes were starting to water as your voice cracked with your own tears.
“I know that I have put you through so much grief, so much pain and...doubt,” You paused, wiping a few stray tears. “But you have never, not once, abandoned me. You’ve stuck through all of my crazy, all of our shenanigans--”
You glanced over at the old couple who were grinning ear to ear. You didn’t want to get into all the psycho drama you and Rafael had been through in front of total strangers, but he gave you a knowing look when you said ‘shenanigans’. He knew what you meant; because of course he did. You were connected.
“I’m actually really glad that you had your ‘freak out’ because for one it made me look like the sane one for once,” All of you chuckled. “But also, because it got us our chance to get married our way, in our spot,” You gestured to the cave around you.
“I remember the very first time you brought me here, I thought that it was done. We were done. I thought that our one perfect day was going to be just that-- one perfect day,” You began to choke on your words again as you thought back to that very first day, the day you “magicked” him.
“I never in my wildest dreams thought that--'' You glanced at the Padre and the couple again. “That we’d….start, again here,” You exchanged another knowing look.
“And I certainly never thought you’d propose to me in this place-- with a flash mob, no less!” The Padre and couple laughed in surprise, Rafael began to blush profusely, but you put a hand to his red cheek.
“Literally every single beginning we’ve had-- it started right here,” You wiped more stray tears, already knowing the woman back at the church was going to have to re-do all of it.
“And now it’s starting again-- for the rest of our lives,” You sniffled while Rafael wiped more tears from your face and then his own.
“...Okay I’m done,” You took a deep breath in and out as you smiled at Father Hernandez.
“Alright well then Rafa--”
“Oh wait!!!” You suddenly interjected. “Also, I love you,” You make an “eek” face. “I can’t believe I left that out,”
“...I’m pretty sure that whole speech was an ‘I love you,’ dearie,” The old woman patted your back with a reassuring smile.
“I agree,” Rafael nodded. “And to be honest-- I don’t think I can follow that,”
“Oh come on,” You rolled your eyes. “It wasn’t that great,”
“No it wasn’t great,” He shook his head. “It was perfecto,” He took both of your hands in his once more. “...All I can say is, ditto,”
“Ditto?” You laughed. “Real romantic, Rafa,”
“Well I can’t think of anything more than what you’ve already said!” Rafael shrugged with a laugh.
“Well, except this: You say that I’ve put up with you, and never abandoned you, but neither did you,” He pulled you closer towards him.
“You’ve put up with me plenty, and you could have walked away plenty of times. But you stayed with me. You fought for me. And I will spend the rest of our lives trying to be good enough for you, not the other way around,”
“You’re already good enough for me, Rafael,” You bit your lip as you tried your hardest not to kiss him before Padre said you could.
“Can I kiss her yet Padre?” Rafael read your mind.
“Calma, Rafa,” Padre chuckled. “Do you have rings?”
“Shit, the rings!” Rafael groaned. “Sorry, Padre,” He quickly apologized.
“Wait...baby,” You turned around and looked down at all the decorative stones that lined the bottom of the tank. You picked two up and handed one to Rafael.
“Pebbles,” He smiled at you. “Like penguins,”
“Ah, well then…” The Padre shrugged, having no idea what was happening but went along with it anyway. “I guess, exchange the pebbles now?”
You giggled as you placed your pebble in Rafael’s hand, then he placed his in yours.
“Well then, I guess by the power vested in me by God and the state of New York, I now pronounce you man and wife,” He shrugged with a smile. “Now you may kiss her, Rafa,”
“Gracias, Padre,” He grinned before pulling you into a passionate kiss, a kiss rivaling many of the kisses you had exchanged in this cave before now.
“Now, if you three would like to attend a circus, we’d be glad to have you,” You glanced at your three witnesses.
They looked at each other with confused glances, then shrugged and followed you and Rafael back towards the limo.
---------------
As soon as you pulled back behind the church, the Padre and the couple were shown to seats by one of the security guards while you and Rafael walked back to the bridal suite. Chloe ran up to the both of you before you could make it here, Rafael’s top hat in her hand.
“What the hell, you guys?!” She hissed, then realized you were in a church so she made a sign of the cross and kissed her fist.
“They’re about to start rioting!” She added.
“Sorry, sorry, Chloe,” You kissed her cheek. “You’re a good friend,”
"I want you to realize you've said that three times now,” She smiled proudly. “Be sure to tell all of your sexy eligible lawyer friends that, Rafael,”
“I’ll be sure to slip it in every conversation later, Chloe,” He smirked as he gave her a kiss on the cheek as well.
“Alright now take this magic hat and get down that aisle before the mayor actually kills you,” She shoved the top hat in Rafael’s hands and shooed him through the hall and towards the doors of the sanctuary.
“Alright,” She focused on you. “You ready to do this?”
“I mean…” You gestured to your messed up make up and the veil falling out of your hair.
“Aw crap,” Chloe grimaced. “Ok, well looks like you’re getting the Chloe special,” She went and grabbed her purse from the bridal room and pulled you into the ladies room.
After a few minutes you reemerged with perfect make up and the veil reattached to your hair like a nest. Hey, you just had your perfect ceremony. You could last a few more minutes with this thing.
“Alright, now you’re ready,” She brushed you off and opened the sanctuary doors to signal the piano to start playing the Bridal Suite.
The doors opened and Chloe took your hand as you both walked down the aisle together. The flashing lights and bright red dots from film cameras were starting to overwhelm you as you walked, but you focused on Rafael.
He was at the end of all this erratic tunnel of people gawking at you like a zoo animal. You just breathed in and out and kept your gaze locked into his; his smile was like a bright beacon in the darkness. Finally you reached the altar and he took your hands in his. You felt safe again; you’d always feel safe in his grasp.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today…” The priest began to speak, but the only thing the two of you heard were each other, speaking volumes to each other with just your looks. It was just like Rafael had promised: Just you and him.
And it would just be you and him, forever.

Crush (Nick x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/n: Hey guys so it was brought to my attention and I also kinda noticed that my writing looks clustered as hell on tumblr cause I’m just not used to writing on it. So I’m gonna start typing my stories on Wattpad and transferring them onto tumblr cause it’s just easier for me since I’ve been writing on Wattpad for years. Let me know if it’s easier to read and if you guys would prefer it if I changed the rest of my previous imagines to this layout!
Requested by: Fallonburns (Wattpad)
Warnings: None I think. A kiss? I don’t know if you need to be warned about that. Okay bye!
————
As a member of the school dance committee it was part my job to push ideas and work out any kinks before a dance could happen. That included booking food, decorations, and of course entertainment.
"Come on y/n! Julie and her hologram band could totally blow the roof off this place and you know it" Flynn spoke as I walked down the hall towards my locker.
"Of course I know it Flynn and I know Julie would kill it but it's not my decision. Plus the dance is tomorrow. Who knows if Dinas gonna wanna add another entertainer for the night besides you?" I spoke to one of my longest friends.
"Well will you at least put in a good word?"
"I'll see what I can do" I said putting in my locker combination.
"Yes! Thank you"
Seconds later I groaned feeling my body particularly my head collide with the small metal door in a split second.
"Y/n!" I heard Flynn shout helping me regain my balance.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry" I heard a familiar voice making my heart rate pick up.
"Nick" I panted attempting to recover the air that was just knocked out of me.
"Y/n I didn't mean to really. Ethan threw the ball and I tried to catch it I-I'm sorry"
"It's cool. I'm totally fine" I attempted to play it off as I grabbed my binder from my locker.
"If totally fine means you've got a concussion then yeah you seem great" Flynn said making me scowl at her.
"Do you need to go to the nurse? I can walk you if you want" He said putting a hand on my head exactly where it had made contact with my locker door.
"Nick I'm fine really" I smiled removing his hand. I finally made eye contact with the boy who stood there smiling back at me. His beautiful blue eyes taking my breath away once more. Knocking out of the trance I glanced back at Flynn to see her eyeing me suspiciously.
“Are you sure?”
"Positive. I've gotta get to class. I'll see you later" I said pulling Flynn away from the scene in a hurry.
"Yeah, later" Nick called out to us as we continued down the hall.
"Seriously? Nick? What is it with that boy? I mean first Julie now you"
"Now me what? I don't like Nick. Julie likes Nick"
"Yeah if Nicks name started with L and rhymed with Duke" I looked at the girl in confusion.
"What?"
"Nothing. Julie doesn't like Nick anymore but it seems you do and as one of your oldest friends I think it's my job to tell you to go for it"
"Last time you told me to go for something I ended up on the school dance committee. I have 500 balloons to blow up by tomorrow" I said walking towards Carrie and Kayla. Kayla sent me a smile earning a pointed look from Carrie.
"Kayla. Carrie. I hope to see you guys at the dance this Thursday" I spoke smiling at the two girls.
"Sounds interesting. But I'm busy with Nick. You know MY boyfriend" She said putting emphasis on the word my.
"Plus if Flynn's gonna DJ I just don't know if I'd make it through the night"
I put an arm in front of Flynn to hold her back before turning back to the two girls.
"Well take a flyer anyways just in case" I grinned taking one from the stack in my binder.
"Thanks" Kayla said taking the flyer out of my hands.
"I hope to see you there" I sent the two another fake smile before walking away with Flynn to our next class.
"How do you talk to her without going off on her?"
"Well for starters it takes a lot of patience. They don't say fake it til you make it for nothing" I giggled along with Flynn as she looped her arm around my own.
I strutted down the hall walking towards music room where I knew Flynn and Julie would be at this time excited to give them the news.
Suddenly I felt someone grab my arm and spin me around to face them.
“Oh Nick" I said looking up at the boy in front of me. A blush creeping onto my face as I noticed the intense look he was sending me.
"What's up?" I questioned cautiously.
"We're friends right?"
"Yeah of course why?"
"I need a favor"
"A favor? A favor like what?" I asked watching his gaze flicker to our right. I turned to see Carrie and the rest of dirty candy walking towards us.
Before I could process what came next my body collided with the cold metal lockers behind me as Nick pushed his lips onto mine.
I slowly melted into the kiss wrapping my arms around his neck pulling him closer. But he didn't seem to mind.
"Nick" Carries voice interrupted what had soon become a make out session. The boy in front of me pulled away first keeping his hands firmly on my waist.
"Oh Carrie. What do you want?"
"We need to talk"
"I'm a little busy here" He said tilting his head towards me.
"Well become unbusy"
"I would but we have nothing to talk about. I told you yesterday we're over and that's it"
"We're not over until I say we're over"
"I'd say your pretty over"
"Oh shut it y/n. I know this is fake because Nick would never like a girl like you. I mean look at yourself. Pathetic" She talked with anger evident in her voice.
"Don't talk to her like that" Nick spoke turning to stand in front of me.
“Nick it's fine. She's right"
"No she's not. I'd rather be with someone who's kind, gentle, and doesn't have the personality of a mountain lion" Nick said glaring at Carrie who stood there with a smirk.
"You'll be back Nicky. See you Friday at the dance" She said walking away her posse hot on her tail.
"Thanks for sticking up for me Nick. You didn't have to. And sorry if I wasn't believable enough"
"You were great. Amazing! And I'll always stick up for you. You know that" He said smiling down at me.
"I know. I'd just prefer it if every time we met you didn't push me against the lockers. They’re cold and made out of metal you know?" I joked making him chuckle.
"Yeah sorry about that. And I'm sorry for dragging you into this. It's just Carrie won't leave me alone"
"I kinda figured when you shoved your tongue down my throat" I giggled watching a cute grin form on his face.
"Yeah yeah. I didn't hear you complaining"
"Well I mean you're not the worst kisser" I said biting my lip watching him get flustered.
"I can do better than that. I was just under pressure"
"Then I guess you'll have to prove it to me later" I spoke confidently before turning around walking in the direction I was heading.
"Hey! Wait!" He called out after me. "Yeah?" I questioned turning around.
"Are you going to the dance?" He asked shoving his hands in his pocket
"Yeah I have to. I kinda helped planned it" I called back smiling at him.
"So I'll see you there"
"See you there" I spoke turning back around reaching the end of the hall.
I pushed open the doors to the band room open only to hear a loud thud.
"Flynn?" I questioned seeing the girl on the ground.
"Are you okay?" I asked helping her up
"She's fine" Someone else in the room spoke.
"Oh hey Julie" I grinned at the girl who sat at the piano.
"Hey y/n"
"So are you gonna explain to me why you were on the floor?"
"Sure just as soon as you explain to me why Nick had you pushed up against the lockers" My face fell in embarrassment as I looked at Julie in panic.
"Julie it's not-"
"It's okay y/n. I'm over him. I kinda moved onto someone else"
"Really?"
"Really. You have my blessing" She confirmed with a grin.
"Thanks. Now that that's over. You were spying on me weren't you?" I questioned turning to Flynn.
"Whaaat no. I would never"
"She was spying" Julie confirmed for me once more.
"Thought so. I'll explain everything later I came to find you guys cause I have great news" I grinned pulling out a flyer from my backpack.
"Performing at Thursday nights dance is Julie and her hologram band" I smiled showing Flynn the paper.
"Wait what?" Julie asked with a surprised look on her face.
"I haven't told her"
"You haven't told her?" I asked with an exasperated look knowing this was gonna be a long evening.
It was Thursday night and I was running around making sure everything was going according to plan.
“Hey how’s she doing?” I asked Flynn nervously biting my lip.
“Not good. Her band she can’t get a hold of them......literally” Flynn explained making me nod my head.
“It’s just it’s 11:20 already”
“I know but this means a lot to her”
“I understand. Just keep stalling with your amazing dj skills” I smiled giving the girl a thumbs up.
“Thanks y/n. You’ve been running around all night why don’t you take a break?”
“I can’t even if I wanted to”
“Come on! Look Nicks been staring at you all night. If you pull him on the dance floor I’ll play something smooth. Something slow” She smirked at me bumping my shoulder.
“No you will not” I warned the girl. Looking over to the blonde boy who was evidently looking our way. Looking at me. He sent me a smile to which I smiled back at.
“Try me” She said making me playfully roll my eyes.
“I’ve gotta go” I spoke watching Daisy at the punch table wave me over.
“Duty calls” Flynn said before I walked away.
“What’s wrong?” I asked the brunette reaching the table on the far end of the gym.
“I’ve gotta go to the bathroom can you serve punch for like 5 minutes”
“Sure” I smiled moving behind the table taking the apron out of her hands. I threw it over my neck attempting to tie it from the back.
“I’ve got it” Someone spoke from behind me taking the strings away and tying them in a perfect knot.
“Nick. Thank you” I simpered at the boy who moved around the table to stand in front of me.
“No problem. I’m glad I finally got you alone. You look great by the way”
“I know this apron is pretty great huh?” I toyed with the boy.
“You can make anything look good”
“I try. Punch?” I asked holding up a plastic cup.
“Please” I quickly served him a cup handing it over to him.
“Thanks. You did amazing with this whole dance”
“Yeah well Dina wanted it to be perfect since it’s our first dance of the year”
“Dina did not disappoint. Neither did you of course. Promise you’ll save me a dance” He asked my cheeks heating up.
Abruptly I felt a tap on my shoulder to see Daisy was back. I handed her back the apron before moving around the table where Nick was.
“Or we could dance now?” I suggested watching him put his cup down.
“Sounds good m’lady” He spoke sticking his hand out for me. I giggled taking it and letting him sweep me towards the dance floor.
I laughed along with him as he began to dance goofily to the music purposely.
“You have an amazing laugh”
“Nick if you don’t stop complimenting me it’s gonna look like I put on 10 pounds of blush by the end of the night”
“Well you don’t need makeup you know”
“That’s what all guys say until they see what you really look like”
“Well you’ve always been naturally beautiful. Even in 8th grade when you wore no makeup at all”
“Don’t remind me I looked terrible”
“Not to me you didn’t” He said looking into my eyes. For a split moment the world around us stopped moving and it felt like we were the only ones in the room.
At least until I felt someone bump into me pushing me forward into the boy.
“I’m so sorry” I said realizing his hands had caught my body.
“It’s cool are you okay?” He asked.
“Yeah y/n are you okay?” A familiar voice asked from behind me.
I turned around to come face to face with Carrie who stood there with a devilish look in her eye.
“I’m fine”
“Oh how unfortunate. You know I didn’t see you as the dancing type. You’ve always had two left feet”
“Leave her alone Carrie” Nick spoke attempting to move forward. I put my arm up to hold him back.
“No Nick it’s ok she’s not worth my time or yours”
“Whatever. This dance is lame anyways”
“Then maybe go home”
“I will. Nick care to join me?” She smirked dangling her plastic cup in her hands.
“No I’m having a good time here” Nick spoke intertwining his hand with mine. I looked down slightly smiling at the gesture.
“Wow. Fine have fun.......with her” Carrie said moving to pass by me.
I suddenly gasped feeling a cold sensation hit my body.
“Oops sorry” The witch spoke before walking away.
“What’s her problem?” I asked ready to go after her only to be held back.
“Hey, you said it yourself. She’s not worth our time” Nick whispered holding me by my shoulders.
“Your right. I don’t even think it’s worth trying to clean this up” I said pointing out the red stain on the side of my dress.
“Here. It isn’t exactly cute but it’ll help cover up the stain” He said putting his jean jacket over my shoulders.
“It’s perfect. Thanks Nick. For everything”
“This is one of the last few songs of the night. Dedicated to a very special friend of mine so grab your partners close and tell HIM or her how you feel” Flynn’s voice rang through the gym speakers.
A slow song beginning to play throughout the gym. Couples beginning to form on the dance floor.
I looked up at the girl on the stage to see her send me a quick wink. Playfully rolling my eyes I looked back at the boy in front of me, his hand lingering in the air.
“Can I have this dance?”
“Of course” I grinned taking it. Allowing him to pull me close.
We swayed side to side along to music with smiles plastered on our faces.
“You know I never thought I’d finally get here”
“Finally?” I asked pulling away looking up at him.
“Guess it’s now or never huh? Okay. Y/n I’ve had a crush on you for the longest time. So long Carrie started to notice. After she found out I rammed you into the lockers the other day she went crazy”
“Really? She was that jealous”
“Insanely. But after I talked to you that day I realized this crush wasn’t going anywhere”
“You know I’m really glad to hear you say that Nick cause I feel the same way”
“That’s good. Because I can finally prove you so wrong” He smirked leaning down and pulling me into a passionate kiss. The first (technically second) one of the many that were yet to come.

Y/N had brought Asher over to the Barnes’ for a playdate. It seemed that the stomach bug that had ravaged their class was gone. Every parent was glad to see it go with Thanksgiving in a couple weeks. Y/N sat in the kitchen with Winnie. Bucky’s mother was famous for taking in strays from the football team and now it seemed she had selected Y/N as her newest one. She poured the young girl a cup of coffee and asked if her father had been around recently. Y/N nodded and explained he’d been in town for a meeting with some investors, but had left two days after. Winnie smiled tightly. She knew that Y/N was raising her younger sibling and it made her angry to see the weight the young woman carried around. The young woman was notoriously tight-lipped about the situation, so she switched to safer topics, “How’s the planning for Asher’s birthday going?”
Y/N tensed at the question, “No one is going to come other than Becca and Morgan Stark. Those damned PTA moms,” She dropped her head to the countertop, “God, I’m so bad at this.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Winnie patted her head, “You’re 20 and you’ve been doing great so far. It’s not your fault the moms at the school are awful.”
“What am I going to do? I’m already stressed out about this and with a football-themed birthday party I’m doomed.”
Clint and Bucky had just stopped by the house and headed straight for the kitchen. They caught the tail end of the conversation and the blond perked up at the idea of helping Y/N, “Football birthday? I can help with that.”
“You can?” He glared at Bucky, who suddenly realized and nodded, “Oh yeah, we can help.”
Y/N smiled softly and waved a hand, telling them they didn’t have to. “It’s no problem,” Clint sat on the counter next to her, “What do you need to know?” Winnie and Bucky shared a look. She has raised some good boys and could tell that Clint was trying everything to get Y/N to notice him. She offered to go check on the kids and give them some space to plan. She grabbed Bucky’s arm, dragging him with her on the way out.
Clint sat next to Y/N at the table and could see that she was struggling. She refused to meet his eyes, instead of staring at her coffee as it swirled, “No one is going to come to Asher’s birthday on Saturday and I don't know what to do. I feel like such a failure,” the tears started to form in her eyes.
He didn’t know how to deal with tears and tried to make them stop, “Why doesn’t the team come? We can play football with the kids, and I’ll force them to bring presents.” She finally looked up at him and it broke his heart to see her this way. Her eyes shone with unshed tears and her nose was red from the cold. It blew him away that he hadn’t noticed Y/N before this year. She couldn’t believe that he would offer this. Y/N asked him if he was sure and he nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah, they would totally be into that. They all love Becca and we work with a bunch of kiddie teams.” Clint saw that she was getting emotional again. He wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tight. For the first time, it didn’t seem like she wanted to run in the opposite direction when he was near. Y/N wrapped her arms around his waist and let his presence comfort her. Clint looked up and made eye contact with Bucky, who was giving him two thumbs up and gyrated his hips before Winnie came by and smacked him upside the head.
Tumblr media
Y/N got up earlier than usual on Saturday. She always was an early riser, since it was the only time she had to herself. Most mornings, she would sit outside with her coffee and take in the silence. Sometimes, Nat would join her and they would use that time to catch up on the little things. This morning was different, the redhead was still out and Y/N got straight to work hanging up decorations. She had started to make breakfast when she heard a soft knock at the door.
The shock on her face made Clint chuckle when she opened the door. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m going to chalk that rude greeting up to the fact that you haven’t had coffee. Which is why I brought this,” Clint brought a tray out from behind his back with a flourish. “Winnie always gets up early for birthdays and I figured you’d be doing the same.”
“Oh, I love you,” Y/N took one look at Clint and clarified, pointing down at the cup, “I meant the coffee.” He passed her a cup, sneaking a kiss on her cheek in greeting, and walked into the house towards the kitchen. Y/N stood frozen for a moment, the feeling on his lips burning her cheek. She took a sip of coffee to calm herself. Her head shot back in confusion and took another tentative sip and then stared up at him, “Should I be scared that you know how I take my coffee?”
“Let’s not focus on that. Just say thank you and move on,” Clint sat on one of the barstools, sipping his coffee. “So, how can I help?” Y/N directed him to start blowing up balloons that she hadn’t had a chance to finish. Her mind wandered and she nearly jumped out of her skin when Clint leaned over her. She blushed at how close he was to her. “Are those Mickey Mouse pancakes?”
He had backed them against the counter, forcing Y/N to turn and meet his gaze. She looked up at him, “They are a special occasion breakfast in this house. Every birthday and every holiday.” Clint smiled down at her and couldn't help but admire how bright her eyes were. Y/N turned back around when she realized how close they were standing and cleared her throat, “Nat should be coming by soon and she can tell you where to put things. She’ll like to boss you around.”
The two of them joked around as they worked. Once he had finished the balloons, Clint came back into the kitchen and started stealing sips of Y/N’s coffee since he’d finished his. She threatened him with the spatula when she caught him the first time, but pretended she hadn’t after that. She liked that he kept stealing glances at her each time before he took a sip. His hand crept towards the stack of pancakes and this time, Y/N whirled around to stop him. Clint grabbed her hand and spun her around, their laughter filling the kitchen. He pulled her close, but they were interrupted by the front door flying open. “Who’s ready to party up in this bitch!” Nat turned and saw Clint and Y/N and how close they were standing. The smirk that grew on her friend’s face had Y/N groan; Nat was going to be incorrigible, “I have to admit Barton, you were not who I expected to be in the kitchen this morning.”
Clint just smirked at the redhead, “How was Barnes?”
Nat smirked, “Satisfied.”
Y/N groaned and threw her hands up, “Natasha, no! Go upstairs and shower before the kiddo wakes up!” The redhead gave her a look that told her this conversation was not over and skipped off to get ready.
It didn’t take long before Asher was rushing down the stairs and waved quickly at Clint before flying into Y/N’s arms, “It’s my birthday!”
“It is!” Y/N faked surprise, “What am I going to do? I completely forgot!”
“No, you didn’t!” She had hoisted him up and he pointed over her shoulder, “I see the pancakes.”
Y/N laughed, “Alright, you caught me. I’d never forget your birthday.”
While the two siblings were occupied, Nat came back down, hair wet, and sins from the night washed away. Soon the four of them were sitting down for breakfast. He sat back and watched the dynamic of the little family. Asher was perfectly comfortable around his sister. He listened to her like she was a parent. If he was being honest, she was his mom. Y/N was at every school event, cared for him when he was sick, and stressed about having the best birthday possible. Y/N was everything he had wished Barney would’ve been for him when their parents passed. Of course, the situation wasn’t entirely the same, the Y/L/N kids had a father. A very wealthy, but absent father, from what Winnie had told him. Clint just couldn’t stop admiring Y/N. Not only did he think she was beautiful, but she was this bright light that was affectionate and intelligent.
While he was distracted, Nat watched the blond stare at her best friend. She nodded to herself, Clint Barton had never been someone she imagined for Y/N, but he was proving her wrong. She deserved someone dependable and loving, who would take the sibling duo as a packaged deal and not an inconvenient tag-along. She had never expected anyone from their football team to step up, and yet here he was, at home before she was, helping Y/N. He had arranged for the football team to come to Asher’s party so he could have a good party. Bucky had been telling her that Clint was like a new person and it was for the better. Maybe they both needed each other more than either knew.
When breakfast was finished, they had gathered on the couch while Asher opened his presents from the family. Y/N had asked Clint if he wanted to give his present now, but he shook his head, mischief gleaming in his eyes. She leaned back on the couch and Clint slung his arm over his shoulder. His fingers traced her shoulder, leaving goosebumps on his wake. She turned to look at him and he smiled, “Is this okay?” Y/N bit her lip and nodded, turning her attention back to Asher, who was showing her the gifts. Nat was shaking her head and smiling at her oblivious friend. She knew that Y/N had told Clint she didn’t have time to date, but everything seemed to be changing.
After the excitement, Y/N convinced Asher to take a nap before everyone showed up. It had taken a lot of back-and-forths and some mild bribery, but she did it. After they were sure he was out, the three of them got to work. In under an hour, they had the entire house decorated, the pizza delivered, and the firepit set up outside. It wasn’t long before the Barnes and Stark families showed up with the team. Y/N had been nervous about meeting the team, but everyone was so nice. Asher was hesitant of all the strangers at first, but when he found out that they were a football team and they had come to play with him: it was the best day after. Y/N couldn’t keep the smile off her face at how excited her little brother was. It was never what she would’ve planned, but it was worth it all to see how happy everyone was.
They went into the back and set up a small football field and Y/N was blown away. Clint walked up behind her as she watched the team work and play with the kids, “So what do you think?”
“I think I was very wrong about the team,” Y/N turned to look at him, “And you," she put a hand on his chest, pushing back the thoughts of how nice the muscle felt underneath her fingers, "I’m sorry. This is so much more I could ask for Asher.”
Clint shrugged, “I didn’t just do this for him. Now, come on. Time for you to learn how to play.” Y/N tried to stop him, but he threw her over his shoulder, carrying her down to everyone else. She was laughing the whole way down to the makeshift field. They played a few games until the kids started calling for pizza. Everyone went inside and sat around the house. Y/N had never seen so much life in the house and while it was overwhelming, it made her so happy to see it.
Once all of the pizza was put away, Y/N went into the kitchen to pull the cake out. Everyone sang Happy Birthday and she slid the cake in front of him, “Okay, Birthday Boy, make your wish!”
Asher took a deep breath, “I wish that dad was here so that Y/N could play more.” He blew out the candles, oblivious to the bomb he had dropped. Y/N clapped when the last one went out, pretending that she didn’t have guilt the size of a boulder weighing down her chest and hurt reflecting in her eyes. Everyone shared a look but tried to pretend everything was fine. Clint and Bucky had given them a brief explanation to the team about Y/N and Asher and they all knew that this wish was a hard pill to swallow.
“I left the plates inside, I'll be back in a second,” Y/N leaned down and kissed Asher's forehead, “No sneaking icing while I’m gone.” She rushed into the kitchen and closed the door behind her. She opened the cabinet to grab the paper plates and plastic forks. In her distracted state, she jammed her finger, “FUCK!” She brought her hand up to her face and felt the tears start to spill down her cheeks. A hand on her shoulder made her jump. Bucky had been the one to go after her, and Y/N quickly wiped the tears away, “I’m so sorry he said that in front of you guys.”
“Hey, it’s okay. You stay right here and do whatever you need to do to calm down. I’m gonna bring the plates out and I’ll be back.”
Bucky handed off the plates to Steve. Clint went to walk towards the kitchen, but Bucky stopped him, “Let me talk to her.” He walked back in and Y/N was where he had left her in the kitchen. He got her a glass of water, “You know, my dad bailed pretty soon after Becca was born. She doesn’t know any different, but I can remember a time when it wasn’t just my mom. She was an adult and did what you do now. You're a super badass and even your brother thinks so.” Y/N scoffed, but Bucky wasn’t going to let her become a ball of self-pity, “His wish wasn’t for your dad to be around because he misses him. He wished your dad was around so that you could be together more. Even at 6, he can see how much you give up to be there for him. Don’t cry over this, feel proud that you’ve raised such an awesome kid.”
Y/N smiled and wiped away the last of her tears, “Who knew Bucky Barnes was such a softie. You definitely have my approval to date Nat now.”
He laughed and gave her a hug, “Come on let’s go eat cake and open presents. The guys and I got him some awesome stuff.”
“You guys actually bought him presents?”
“Of course we did. What person shows up to a party without presents?” The two of them went back out to join the party and no one commented on Y/N’s red-rimmed eyes.
Nat came over and checked on her. The redhead laughed when Y/N told her that she had picked a good one and should marry Bucky. Clint walked over to them and let Y/N tuck herself into his side.
Pepper had dished out of the cake and Asher, Becca, and Morgan were covered in blue frosting, “Bath time is going to be interesting tonight.”
“We could always spray them off with a hose,” Tony passed Y/N a plate. The trio cheered and asked if they could do that.
Y/N shrugged, “I can’t think of a reason we shouldn’t do that later.” The kids cheered again and finished off their cakes. Clint kept stealing bites of her cake and she had to ask, “Is it just my stuff you like to take, or are you like this everyone.”
“Just you,” he reached down and wiped icing off her cheek. Her face grew warm and she could feel people watching them
Y/N pulled away and clapped her hands, “Present time!” Everyone went out back and sat around the firepit on the couches and bean bags. They passed around blankets as Asher sat next to Y/N on the center couch. The guys all brought out their gifts and Y/N felt herself getting emotional at the generosity. Surprisingly, all the gifts were age-appropriate.
Clint had an arm across the back of the couch and was playing with the ends of her hair. He tugged on them and she leaned closer so that he could whisper in her ear, “Pepper brought them on a shopping trip.”
A massive grin spread across Y/N’s face and she leaned closer to him, “I would’ve paid good money to watch that group in the toy section.”
Clint flashed a proud smile, “We nearly got thrown out.” She threw her head back and laughed. In their little bubble, they didn't notice that everyone was watching them. They all smirked at each other at the obvious attraction. When it was Clint's turn to give Asher his present, he kept one hand on Y/N’s thigh and squeezed, worried that it wasn’t enough. Inside the bag was a jersey for their college team with Asher’s name on it. “I talked to Coach Fury and he’s going to let you be his assistant coach at our next game. That means you get to hang out on the sidelines the whole game.” Asher’s eye grew wide and he flung himself across Y/N’s legs to hug Clint. The trio fell back in a pile of laughter. Clint managed to keep them upright and was talking to Asher as he thanked him over and over.
While the two were distracted, Nat leaned over, “I bet Clint would love it if you showed up in his jersey at the next game.”
Y/N smirked, “Could you get me one?”
“I’ll ask Bucky,” Nat winked at her.
After everyone’s gifts had been opened, Asher threw his new jersey on and they started up a new game, this time with Tony joining.
Y/N was surprised when Clint dragged her onto one of the bean bags instead of the game, “Don’t you have a game to play.”
“They have even numbers right now. I’d hate to throw off the game.” They watched as the guys picked the kids up and ran across the backyard with them thrown over their shoulders.
“Mhmm, they clearly are following all the rules.”
“Plus, I’m comfy,” he wrapped an arm around Y/N’s waist and fell back, dragging her with him.
Tumblr media
Pepper was watching them and turned to Winnie, “They are adorable.”
Winnie smiled, “Aren’t they just? Clint just needs to actually ask Y/N out. I told him I’d babysit Asher so that they could go, but he still hasn’t done it. It. Is. Killing. Me. And then I’ve got Bucky and Y/N’s friend, Natasha.” The two women turned and watched him fireman carry the aforementioned redhead down the field. Winnie shook her head, “I’m thinking of asking them to have Thanksgiving and Christmas with us. The idea of them alone in this big house breaks my heart.”
“You’re going to have a full house for the holidays. The girls are good for them. They seem much happier, Clint especially.”
Winnie was beaming, “It is like night and day. When Barney was deployed, he was so lonely. Now he reminds me of that kid from Pee-Wee football. He’s lost so much and I was worried he’d always live under the cloud of it.” They were interrupted as everyone cheered when Asher scored a touchdown, doing a little dance at one end of the yard. Things were looking up for everyone and their family was growing.

I'd just like to know what you think she'd be like for V3 boys! I'm sorry for bothering you! no rush here! ☺️💕👉🏻👈🏻
Gonta Gokuhara
You two met after school when you were walking home.
He was standing frozen still near the school's courtyard. It was almost hard to see him with his dark green hair blending in with the trees.
Interested, you walked over to him. "What are you-"
He glanced at you, grinning. Cupped in his hand was a beautiful large butterfly.
You both stared in awe at the butterfly for at least a minute, until it flew out of his hands.
He suddenly grinned widely at you. "Thank you!" He said, his voice wasn't one you expected to come from such a large figure.
"For staying quiet and not running away from me and-" he paused suddenly and stood up straight and tall, brushing his suit nervously
"Gontas name is Gonta Gokuhara" he smiled
You introduced yourself after, and told him what your ultimate was
His eyes lit up brightly. "Ultimate baker? Gonta is ultimate entomologist! Ultimate baker sounds nice!"
You both talked for a while about your talents, but looped back to bugs a lot.
You didn't mind, of course! He was ecstatic to share his interests.
"Do you think you could teach Gonta how to cook and bake?" He asked suddenly, eyes wide. "Gonta wants to be a gentleman, and gentlemen are good at cooking!"
You accepted his offer gratefully.
Almost every day you would both spend time together after school. You would walk to your home together, and point out all the bugs that passed by, and then at home you would teach him how to cook or bake something new.
It took him a while to get the hang of the basics, but he was very determined.
One day before school, he gave you something joyfully.
"(Y/N)! Gonta made this for you!" He said quickly and handed you a cupcake
It was sloppily decorated with yellow and black frosting. It was a little bumblebee!
You thanked him gladly.
He was bashful as he smiled widely at you. "Gonta made it because he wants to thank you!" He said.
"A-and, because…" he went deep pink, nervously grabbing a piece of folded up and crumbled paper from his pocket and handing it to you.
"(Y/N), you are kind like a ladybug, and sweet like a cupcake! You help Gonta learn to be gentlemen! Gonta thinks you are pretty like a monarch butterfly" there were a lot of scribbled out words past that point. At the bottom in small writing "Gonta thinks you are a pretty lady"
Your heart warmed as he mumbled, "is it gentlemanly to give a pretty lady a hug?"
You nodded before he pulled you into a shockingly tight embrace.
Kiibo (K1-B0)
On the first day of school, you brought a giant tray full of cupcakes for your homeroom
You placed two on every desk and saw most of them eaten quickly. A few people only had one, but you didn't mind, they probably weren't hungry was all.
One classmate was the exception. He pushed them both over to the corner of his desk nervously and then gave them back to you at the end of class.
"Here… I'm sorry, but i don't eat. I'm K1-B0, the ultimate Robot, but… Call me Kiibo!"
You apologized for the mix up
"Oh no it's alright! I like being treated like a human" he said softly.
After school that day, you noticed him being kicked around by a few kids in the halls. They were both screaming at eachother about God knows what
You heard a lot of screams about a fake talent, and a lot of threats about a lawsuit.
Kiibo was the one who ended up backing down. He ran out of the building with you following behind.
You finally caught up to him, kicking and hitting a large tree on the campus as it shook violently.
His face was red and he was sobbing.
You stopped him before he totally destroyed the tree. "Hey, Kiibo?" You called out.
He turned around and looked at you.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
He nodded silently as you say down and patted the ground next to you.
He let his frustrations out to you. How he constantly felt like he had something to prove to everyone, even as an ultimate.
How he didn't even know if he could feel. Was it all fake? A combination of ones and zeros?
He didn't know.
After that, you guys had become close, how could he not have after spilling all his secrets to you?
A few months into the school year, he came to you with a question.
"Hey, (Y/N)?" He asked quietly. "What is love like?"
"What's love like? Well… I don't know how to explain it, Kiibo…" you mumbled softly.
"Can I… hold your hand?"
You nodded and reached your hand out to him
He was deep red as he took your hand.
"I like this, (Y/N). I think I do know how love feels."
Kaito Momota
The power couple of the school
He tries to convince you to work out with him all the time, but if you get tired easily it's fine!
Even though he works out all the time, he definitely doesn't eat healthy.
Loves all your sweets to the moon and back.
You two love movie night together, and have it at least once a week.
He picks a lot of animated movies, and has definitely found some gems
He's super strong. Definitely not the strongest student at Hopes Peak, or even in your class, but still strong compared to the average teenager.
When he hugs you he spins around and picks you up.
He's very much a touchy person. Not in an inappropriate way, but in a cuddle-y way
If you're fine with PDA he definitely holds your hand in public and give you kisses.
He honestly prefers forehead or cheek kisses more than kisses on the lips, but doesn't really matter either way.
He tries to make for you sometimes but this poor guy doesn't realize how important measurements can be.
"Vanilla tastes good, so I can add 4 teaspoons instead of one, right?"
No, no you can't.
He's trying his best.
He's a big sweetheart.
Kokichi Ouma
You both have a lot of energy, but you both used it in vastly different ways.
You spent yours spending positivity, and he spent his spreading misteif.
You meet when he was trying to convince you to make an orange flavored cupcake with toothpaste frosting.
He finally convinced you to make one, but only on the condition that he would eat it himself, and not trick anyone else into eating it.
Surprisingly, he agreed and ate it then and there, cringing but laughing the whole time.
You sorta admired his ability to joke around durring every situation
You felt like he meant well, even though he pestered people sometimes
He started to hang around and pester you for a while.
He was expecting to get a good reaction out of you, maybe you weren't really all that chipper and you'd snap and show your angry side?
But instead you just laughed along.
You even started to appreciate his presence, and he started to appreciate yours.
When you found a letter in your locker asking to meet at a random building after school, you were sure it was some elaborate prank by Kokichi
When you saw him outside of the seemingly normal building, it seemed to confirm your suspicion.
When he saw you he grinned widely and brought you inside the building
Instead of an office building, it was a large lair, as if from a cheesy superhero movie
"See? I told you I had an evil organization" Kokichi laughed as you looked around in awe.
"Now, I have a question," he hummed.
"Would you like to join me as leader? As the queen of D.I.C.E?" He held out his hand
You could tell he wasn't lying.
Korekiyo Shinguji
There were a lot of rumors around school about the new freshman.
He looked rather intimidating, and hopes peak was known for having a number of strange people, so the rumors came naturally.
Some said he was a killer, some of the more spiritual students claimed he was a demon.
The rumors didn't phase you.
One day during lunch you saw him sitting all alone absorbed in a large book and taking notes. He didn't have anything to eat.
You sat next to him and took out a cookie from your bag and offered it to him.
"Oh, hello" he looked over at you. "Thank you, but I'm not one to eat in public"
"Are you sure? You can still have it for later" you gave him the cookie. "It's pumpkin"
You could see his smile from his eyes as he thanked you.
"Well, let me at least repay the favor to you. How about I tell you about my favorite fable?"
You nodded and spent the lunch period listening to him talk about fables.
He was excited to talk about his interests, even if he didn't show it.
The bell rang. "Thank you for staying with me, my name is Korekiyo Shinguji. It's been a pleasure to talk with you" he said as he got up, grunting slightly as he lifted up his piles of books
He continued to be avoided by your classmates, so you continued to sit with him.
Soon, you didn't sit with him because he looked lonely, but because you liked to spend time with him.
You were the one who confessed to him, but he was the one who fell in love first.
One day after school, he looked over at you and pulled you behind the school where they were all alone
"(Y/N), please close your eyes. It'll be quick, I promise"
You smiled and did so.
Kiyo quickly pulled down his mask and kissed your cheek softly, smiling. He pulled up his mask as you opened your eyes.
"I love you, darling" he hummed softly.
Ryoma Hoshi
As soon as Ryoma met you at school, he started to push you away
He didn't say it to your face or anything that he didn't want to be around you, but he tried to make it clear enough.
He would leave whenever you were around, or just ignore you.
You had heard vaguely of his past through rumors, and it didn't phase you.
It was kinda strange… Why would he avoid you when you were the only person in school who didn't avoid him due to his past?
It was because of how nice you were. You sweet you were. You reminded him of her.
Of the beautiful woman who did nothing wrong and he wasn't able to protect
After many weeks of avoiding, he finally let you in.
You two had lunch together and just talked.
Talked about each other's interests. About some random show that was on TV recently. About current events.
Just talked.
After lunch that day he hid in the bathroom and cried pure joy.
It was nice to not be avoided.
Even after spending a few months sitting with you everyday at lunch, he still barely opened up to you.
With the end of the school year approaching, you both knew that he would be alone for a while.
On the last day of school, he asked you to meet him at a local park.
When you met up with him, he slowly started to let his feelings spill out of him.
About how he didn't want to lose you. About how you were the only person he had truly connected with since 'the incident' (he didn't elaborate, but you could assume it had to do with his incarceration). About how much you cared for him even though he had tried to push you away. About how alone he was without you.
He cried softly as you pulled him into his arms.
"(Y/N)" he whispered quietly between sobs
"Please, let me love you. Please let me be your boyfriend"
You nodded quietly and held him close.
Shuichi Saihara
You're both very different, so people never thought you'd get together.
But actually, you balanced each other out well.
You brought him out of his shell and he helped you appreciate some of the slower things in life.
He hates PDA, but is very touch starved and likes cuddling with you when you're alone
Play with this mans hair please
He cried the first time you cuddled him just because he didn't realize how much he'd love it
He doesn't eat to much sweets, but adores yours.
You guys watch old crime movies together, even though they have a lot of inaccuracies.
Coffee dates
He loves your bread he'd genuinely die for your bread.
Please love your adorable goth boyfriend.

KIM SEOKJIN: Dec. 4: Sagittarius
Tumblr media
Omf, he so cute, I'mma f*ckin lose it.
Jin would think you’re adorable. he’d love that you were so interested in this and were pretty serious about it.
"Jin?" You call out suddenly, looking up from your notebook. A second later you hear him answer you from the other room.
"Yes princess?"
"Can you come here for a second?"
Jin pokes his head into the room with his eyes wide and puckered lips, making you laugh at the silly look on his face. He smiles and comes in all the way, "what did you need baby?"
Waving him over to your desk he kneels down next to your chair, you turn back to your notebook to scribble something and say nonchalantly, "we're going on a trip." Jin raises his eyebrows and touches your shoulder to get your attention, "what do you mean? You wanna go on a trip?" You look at him and smile, "well, yes I think it would be nice. But we're going for you." He looks bewildered and ruffles his hair in confusion, "b-but I never said anythi-"
"But you wanted to."
"Huh?"
"Oh you, silly. I know you love to travel and get out, experience the world." You open your arms wide and then go back to writing, making him laugh.
"What are you on about, y/n?"
"Nothing..."
"Mmhmm, get over here." Jin starts to tickle you and laugh as you squeal and try to squirm away from him. "Jin stop!" He shakes his head and starts giving you kisses all over your face as he continues to assault you with tickles, "not until you tell me what you're up to!" Finally you relent and gasp out, "ok! Ok fine I'll tell you! Stop!" Jin pulls his hands away and smiles in satisfaction. You start trying to get your hair out of your face as you say breathlessly, "I....I know you like to travel, even though you never talk about it much. I know, because you're a Sagittarius...and they love to experience the world." There's a split second of silence, then Jin starts to laugh and leans in for a hug, but he doesn't even look too shocked, "Oh princess, is that why we're going on a trip?" You nod against his shoulder and he smiles fondly.
"Y/n, you're so cute. What am I going to do with you?" You peck his cheek and he grins, "would it happen to say anything about me being Worldwide Handsome?" He asks smugly. You slap his chest playfully.
"Of course not, you fool." Jin looks hurt and he pouts, "rude."
"Only because it's only you that's worldwide handsome, not every Sagittarius." He grins at your last comment and hugs you again.
MIN YOONGI: Mar. 9: Pisces
Tumblr media
Ofc he's a Pisces, he's a soft bean and we all know it.
I feel like Yoongi would be kind of confused and not fully understand it lol, but he wouldn’t be opposed to it.
"What are you doing?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing."
"...I don't believe you."
You laugh as Yoongi sits down next to you and tries to look over your shoulder where you're scrolling through Instagram. You push him gently, "go away you sneak." He pouts and stops trying to look, slumping down in his own spot and whining, "I don't trust you." You look at him in mock offense and scoff, "why don't you trust me? What did I ever do wrong?"
"You're giggling."
"So?"
"Giggling in a suspicious way."
"Oh my gosh, seriously?"
"Yes."
You roll your eyes and nudge him with your shoulder, "stop being so silly." He grunts but lets it go and goes back to his own phone. A few minutes later you start to giggle again and steal glances at him every now and then. Finally he reacts and snatches your phone before running to the bedroom.
"MIN YOONGI!!" You shout when he zooms away, "get back here right now!!" You jump up and chase after him, catching him on the bed scrolling through your phone. "Yoongi, you're a little brat, you know that?" He nods and keeps scrolling, confusion written all over his face.
"What is this stuff you're looking at anyway? I'm confused."
"It's called astrology, genius. Now give it back." You sit next to him and he hands your phone over, uninterested now since it means nothing to him. You shake your head and turn back to keep scrolling when you hear him pipe up, "I still don't get it. What does 'The SIgns when they fall in love' mean and why were you giggling about it?" You smother another smirk that threatens to burst out on your lips and mumble, "just that you're a big softy and won't admit it." He looks at you sharply, "what did you say?"
"Oh, nothing."
"Liar."
"Stop acting so tough."
"What are you talking about? I am tough."
"Sure, whatever you say, Pisces."
"Huh?"
"Nothing."
JUNG HOSEOK: Feb. 18: Aquarius
Tumblr media
oh fack, wait...no one touch me...I’m calling the police hoseok, you b*tch.
I feel like Hobi would also be confused at first, but then he’d become just as interested as you.
"Hey love!"
"Yeah?"
"Can I borrow your laptop?"
"Sure baby!" You smile and turn back to keep looking in the fridge for food. A few minutes pass and you hear Hoseok walk into the kitchen.
"Y/n?"
"Yeah baby?" You stop spreading mayonnaise on your sandwich and turn to see Hobi walking over to you with a confused look on his face. "What is this? 'The Signs as candy' and why is it on your laptop?"
You stare at him for a second and he continues, "I- I wasn't snooping. I just turned it on and this was on the screen and I was just confused and-" you burst into laughter and hold your side as it starts to feel like you might get stitches from laughing so hard, "don't worry love, I know you weren't snooping, and I was just looking at things." He quirks an eyebrow at you, "things, huh? Pretty interesting topic if you ask me..." You chuckle and walk over to him, waving him over to sit on the couch, "I can show you if you want, it's pretty fun."
Hobi follows you and sits on the couch beside you, handing you your laptop and watching you go to Instagram and find an account, then click on one of their pictures titled, 'The Signs when they see a fight'...He squints at it and then looks at you, "I don't get it." You laugh and explain, "ok, so you know the star signs?" He nods slowly, "I've..heard of them, yes." You point at the screen and continue, "well, depending on your birthday you have a star sign and the signs all typically have similar traits with people of the same sign, and yours is Aquarius. So, sometimes I find it fun to look at different things and see if they're true or not." Hobi nods as he starts to understand and then he looks at you, "well, what kind of candy was I?" You laugh and go back to the previous post to check.
The two of you completely lose track of time and sit there looking up different scenarios and funny comparisons and laugh about what each of your signs are described as. He's definitely hooked, that's for sure.
KIM NAMJOON: Sept. 12: Virgo
Tumblr media
Wow....thighs...
Oh, Namjoon is totally for it, and he isn’t gonna let you think you’re the only one that specializes in this, just so you know.
"Namjoon, you're an idiot."
That's the first thing you say to him after they turn the cameras off when they finished the interiew, the boys all coming off the set. Namjoon looks at you in shock and puts his hand on his chest, "hey, why am I suddenly an idiot?" You can't hold your laughter in any longer and start giggling uncontrollably. Namjoon takes you gently by the elbow and leads you away to a quiet place so you can talk.
"Now, explain."
"Ok fine." You start chuckling again because you just can't help it.
He looks at you expectantly and then sighs, "you're making me anxious, why did you say that and why are you laughing?"
See, this war between you two started after he claimed to know more about astrology than you, to which you gladly fought him on. And now, after months of bantering and bragging about the things you both knew, you finally had something on him. You look at him smugly and say as nonchalantly as you can,
"What sign are you, Joonie?"
"Ah, we're back to this huh?"
"We most certainly are, so answer the question."
"This is pointless, we both know I know perfectly well what I am, I'm a Virgo."
"A Virgo, huh?"
"Yes."
"Sure you're not a Virgin, Joon?"
Namjoon's face pales the instant you say that, "oh no, y/n please tell me I didn't say that in the-" by the look on your face it proves that, oh yes, he said that, and he crumples in embarrassment. He puts his big hands up to his face and groans loudly, "I am never going into public again. Shut up y/n, you're not helping." But you can't stop laughing, not yet. It was too funny, and you knew ARMY would have an absolute field day with this. Namjoon can't help but smile at you, even in his distress.
"I'm sorry Joonie baby, I really am." He just shrugs miserably.
"Maybe I can convince them to reshoot the interview..."
Oh, you doubt that would happen. And now you're one point ahead, even though it was a mistake, it was done and hilarious at that.
PARK JIMIN: Oct. 13: Libra
Tumblr media
Oh sh*t, careful boi, you gon' break that precious neck.
Hmm, Jimin would definitely want to learn more about this, you teaching him of course ;)
You were currently obsessed over this newfound knowledge of yours of the Zodiac signs and you spent a lot of your time with your nose in your phone; learning all you could about everything. Jimin was delighted that you had found something that intrested you and made you light up while talking about it. But to be fairly honest; he missed your cuddles and attention a lot.
One day he comes into your room and sees you mulling over books and your phone. He sneaks up on you and tickles you, laughing when you squeal and jump in surprise.
"Jimin!! You scared me! Don't do that!"
"Sorry baby~ I just miss you~" Jimin whines and snuggles his face into your neck. You giggle and pat his head, "wanna join me?" He contemplates that for a minute then nods his head, ruffling your hair. Spending time with you like this was better than none at all. Jimin sighs as he plops down next to you, "so, what are you reading about now?" You smile slightly as you give him a side-glance, "oh, just reading up on Libras." He nods and says quietly, "Libras...that sounds familiar, why is that familiar to me?" You laugh and turn to him.
"Well, probably because it's your sign."
"Oh...oh really?? What does it say about me?" He's suddenly very attentive and tries to get a look at what you've been reading. You snatch it away and giggle, "well, I'll tell you, just calm down." He sits back and nods, waiting for you to continue, and you do.
"Libras are very friendly, they love to talk to people and are very charming- get that smirk off your face." Jimin giggles and ducks his head shyly, "what else does it say?"
"Well, Libras often hide their emotions when they feel it would burden someone else. They try to make it a happier mood when someone is feeling down." Jimin has gone silent and you can tell he's listening carefully.
"They're also hot as fu-"
"Y/N!!" Jimin shouts in surprise and laughs, trying to hide his blush when he sees your teasing smile.
"Sorry. I couldn't help it."
Jimin composes himself and then flips it around on you, winking and smoothing his hair back. You blush and turn to go back to your book, but he gets your attention again.
"What else does it say?"
"That you're a big ham. That's what."
"Wha-"
KIM TAEHYUNG: Dec. 30: Capricorn
Tumblr media
Don't ask me why I chose this one, it's cute ok?? Geez, lay off, susan.
Tae would be a sweetie, he'd love to listen to you talk about it for hours on end, and he'd be genuinely interested.
Tae comes over and puts his chin on your shoulder to look at your notebook and phone while you lay on your stomach on the bed, "whatcha doin'?" He asks cutely and you hum in reply, "just studying, nothing much." He flops himself down next to you and peers up at you through his lashes; looking like an adorable puppy. You laugh and poke his forehead gently, "are you needing attention?" He nods and you laugh again before setting your attention on him, rubbing his tummy like he was an actual dog. He giggles and snatches your hands to kiss them softly.
"What are you studying?"
"Astrology, remember I told you about it the other day?"
He nods and smiles, "yeah, you got so excited after finding some stuff yesterday. How's it coming along?" You sigh and lie your head down next to his, "it's a little confusing with all the different rising sun and moon and star signs, but it's also interesting to learn about how these things came to be talked about. The history, you know?" Tae nods again and looks at you fondly, "that is pretty cool, to learn about people in the past. Anything about my sign you care to share?" You laugh and play with his fingers.
"Well, you're a Capricorn star."
"Ah, really?"
"Mmhm."
"Interesting....and, what does that mean?"
You laugh again and shrug, "well, so far what I know is, it seems like everyone hates Capricorns, always calling them cold and heartless. But, I think that everyone secretly loves them the most." Tae looks interested now, "and why would they hate us?" You shrug but continue, "not sure, but it seems like they always call Capricorns the mean ones. And Aries..." Tae pouts, "I'm not mean, or cold."
"I think that's the point though."
"How do you figure?"
"You can look intimidating to people that don't know you, but you're actually the exact opposite. Like I said, everyone is secretly whipped for Capricorns. Also, Capricorns are said to be very strong-willed and just. Sorry, I need to read up on them more, but Capricorns seem very misunderstood, they really are wonderful signs, I gotta get more info..."
Tae's deep laugh echoes around the room and you chuckle as he pulls you into a bear hug, "I’m flattered, and what about you? Are you whipped for me too?" You wink at him and smirk.
"Oh definitely, you cold hearted beast."
JEON JUNGKOOK: Sept. 1: Virgo
Tumblr media
Again, don't judge my gif pickings... I have my reasons 😑 just look at that smile. I'm weak.
Jungkook would also love to hear you talk about all you know, and he'd find it funny to look through things about your sign.
Jungkook comes in with the spare key you gave him and sets his bag on the kitchen table before calling out to you.
"Hey y/n, are you home?"
He hears you scurry out from the back room and smiles at your mussed up hair and the sight of you still in your PJs. You give him a quick hug, "hi Kookie!" Then you scuttle to the kitchen to scavenge for food. Jungkook laughs and follows you; leaning on the counter to watch you paw through the fridge and cabinets.
"Did you stay up late studying?"
"Uh, kind of, not exactly."
Jungkook raises an eyebrow, "what do you mean?" You huff after finding nothing but some pop tarts, grabbing them out and turning back to him. "I didn't study for school, but I did study something else." Jungkook gives you a knowing look.
"Ah, it's astrology isn't it?"
"Maybe."
"Knew it."
"Well I didn't have class today, so what was the harm of staying up?"
Jungkook laughs and snags a pop tart for himself, "I didn't say there was anything wrong with that. Anything you learned and wanna tell me about?" You smile and nod, walking over to sit at the table with Jungkook right behind you.
"Well, right now I'm learning things I already knew."
"Ah, like what?"
"About your sign, Virgo. I already knew it though since I know you like a book."
"Excuse me, I am not an open book."
You laugh and shake your head at his offended expression, "I didn't mean it like that, quite the opposite actually. Since Virgos tend to be closed off and don't really open up unless they truly know and trust the person. I feel honored that you opened up to me." You smile at his slight blush.
Jungkook nods and keeps chewing his pop tart, "that's true I guess. Well, what else did you look at?' You pull your phone out, “actually, I found some really funny things. Wanna see?" Jungkook dusts his hands off and you try not to giggle at him, then he nods and scoots his chair closer, "lemme see.”
You two laugh as you find funny 'The Signs As' posts and argue about whether or not you agree with them and he can't help but tease you on the ones that exposed you.

"Whose room is this?" Chanyeol asked when the trio came up on a metal door. He watched as Naoki answered his question by pulling out her key and unlocked the door. She entered the room quickly and the two men followed after her. Jongdae shut the door behind him. He realized that this was his first time being inside the room, despite showing up and knocking on the door every morning. His eyes scanned the plain room. It was a sharp contrast to others he had been in. Most people attempted to make their rooms feel like home. Naoki seemed to avoid doing that entirely.
"Do you have to be so tall?" The woman huffed as she turned around and faced Chanyeol's chin. The room was small enough with just her in it and now she was accompanied by two others. It didn't help that one was practically a giant.
"You don't like tall people?" The man replied in a panicked tone. She looked up and met his eyes. They were narrowed, full of worry, and had a bright glimmer within them that she found enduring. She had only seen light like that in someone else's eyes once; it had been Totty's.
"Shut up," she breathed out as she scanned the room. She pointed at her bed before speaking one short word.
"Sit."
The giant man obeyed, turning slightly so that he could place himself down on the bed. The woman almost laughed at the way she had to lower her eyes to meet Jongdae's gaze after the tall man was no longer being a wall between them.
"You can sit too," she told the man softly as she turned to rummage through the stack of books on the table behind her. She didn't read very often before she arrived her, but after visiting the facility's library she found herself recalling the days before the invasion where she would read any book she could get her hands on. Though she had shaken off the habit after the invasions began, she couldn't resist the way they called out to her when she had no other sources of entertainment besides Jongdae. Old habits do die hard.
The men watched her as she fiddled around with the books until a light, victorious 'ah-ha' filled the air. The woman turned around with a notebook in her left hand and a black ink pen in her right. She passed the objects over to Jongdae, who glanced between her and the objects with raised eyebrows.
"Here's how this is going to go down. You're going to write down a word on the paper, I'll read it, tell Chanyeol what it is, and then he will tell you what it is," she told him as she crossed her arms across her chest.
"Ooh! That sounds fun!" the tall man exclaimed cheerfully from beside him. Naoki's eyes skimmed over his excited expression, hating the way the sight of his crinkled eyes and wide smile made her feel. The man was an overgrown child - how was she not supposed to find him adorable?
"He'll see from beside me," the man holding the notebook protested in the form of an exaggerated whine. It was a sound the woman had grown used to. She rolled her eyes again for the second time that day.
"Okay. Then up! You and I will go out into the hallway and Chanyeol can yell through the door. The people next door totally won't mind," she told him in a grumpy tone as she walked towards the door. She waited for him to join her and she opened the door for him to exit when he finally made it to her. She went to step outside, but suddenly froze. Chanyeol met her eyes as she turned her torso just enough to look at him.
"Don't go through my stuff or I will slaughter you," she warned as she pointed a finger in his direction. He swallowed nervously, knowing she was more than capable of slaughtering him.
"Slaughter? That's-" she heard Jongdae begin to tease the woman just before the door was shut. Their voices became muffled once the metal door sealed them off from the room. Chanyeol glanced around the room with the woman's warning still echoing through his head. His thumbs chased each other subconsciously as he waited for the woman to reach out to him.
"Okay, I don't know what word to write," Jongdae confessed after his hand had hovered over the notebook page for a minute. The woman had thought he had been writing a sentence this entire time. She scoffed in disbelief.
"Any word, Dae! It doesn't have to be something specific," she told him with a small sigh. He frowned, trying to think of a word. The woman watched him concentrate and after a few seconds she found herself about to reach over and right a word for him. It was his sudden snicker and rushed hand movements that made her hand relax by her side.
'Park Chanyeol smells bad,' she read on the paper when the guard finally showed the page to her. She wanted to make a comment about how she was surrounded by nothing but childish idiots but she held back. She was in a rush to prove the guard wrong. So, she repeated the sentence back to Chanyeol. The man yelled something from the other side of the room, but Naoki realized her plan was flawed. She reach over and cracked the door open, calling out for Chanyeol to repeat hisself.
"I don't smell bad!" He yelled with offense in his voice. The woman glanced over her shoulder at Jongdae, who had frozen completely. There was a blank expression as he stared at the door. She wondered what was going through his mind.
"Do another one," she told him gently. His movements were slow but he found himself moving to write something else on the paper.
'October 16th' she read when he had lifted his hand from the page. She wanted to ask what the date meant, as it was recent, but she refrained from doing so. Instead, she repeated the words back to Chanyeol like she had last time.
"October 16th?" The giant called from inside her room. Jongdae's face paled at this. He looked at Naoki with horror on his face. It was the first time he had ever looked at her with such an expression.
"It's true then," he whispered, more to himself than to her. She found herself nodding in confirmation anyways.
"My father used to tell me that if I ever met a pair that could communicate telepathically that they were bad, bad people and that I should not associate with them in any way," the man confessed in a distant tone as his eyes drifted away from the woman and landed on the dark colored wall behind her.
"Is that why you didn't believe us?" The woman asked in a quiet tone. The man nodded weakly. Naoki found herself at a loss for words. What could she possibly say that would cause a change in the atmosphere after that? It was tense, all throughout the hallway, and anyone would have been able to feel it.
Chanyeol was focusing on the table of books when his hand felt as if he dipped it in a pool of lava. Then came her emotions. He felt the combination of shame and pity that she felt and he called out for her silently.
"Jongdae's father warned him to stay away from people like us," she explained to him. He frowned at her words and pushed himself off the bed to join the two out in the hallway. He was met with the sight of Jongdae staring blankly at the wall and Naoki looking over her shoulder at the man with a frown on her face when he pushed the door open completely. She turned to face him when she noticed his presence.
"What happens now?" He asked her quietly. She shrugged, not knowing what to say to him, either.
"I'm not going to leave because of this. My father was a good man - a great man - but he was easily frightened by things he didn't understand," Jongdae paused as he let his eyes avert away from the wall and over to the pair of soulmates. They stood by the door with their eyes, now, focused on him and he felt almost intimidated by they power they radiated when standing next to one another. He licked his lips before he spoke again.
"I've never once doubted my father's beliefs in my life, but I know you, Naoki. You're not bad, and Chanyeol seems like a good guy. I didn't know how to take this information at first - I didn't want to believe it at first - but I understand now. I felt it when I first met you, Ki, and this has only strengthened by belief that you will be the one to save the world."
"Dae," The woman whispered as she saw the hope glimmering in his eyes. She didn't know what the relationship between the guard and his father was like, or even if the man was still alive, but she knew it must have been something that meant a lot to him from the way he had reacted towards her over the telepathic ordeal. To have him say that he had to go against his father's beliefs because he believed in her so strongly made her feel a way she had never before. The weight on her shoulder felt heavier. His words were a burden, but she welcomed them. They were a good burden.
She turned and looked at Chanyeol with misty eyes. She would have never admitted it, but the man knew she was fighting hard to not release her tears. Jongdae had an effect on her that not many people had managed to achieve during her lifetime. In fact, she could probably count the number of people that had succeeded in doing so on one hand. In that moment, all of her fears seemed to vanish. There was nothing that she wouldn't do for the guard. I'll be brave for you, she thought to herself.
Though her heart was pounding so hard in her chest that she could hear it in her ears, she found herself raising her left hand up. It trembled as it always did when her nerves got the best of her. Chanyeol's eyes immediately flickered towards the hand, before they found her dark eyes staring at him with an intensity that made his heart flutter. He understood what she was asking of him.
"Tell me it's what you want. Tell me you won't regret it tomorrow," he whispered to her with that low, husky voice of his. His eyes searched hers for a sign that she didn't want it, but he couldn't find one if it existed. His eyes flickered down to her pink lips, awaiting the sound of her voice to escape the confines of her mouth.
"Please do it," she begged him quietly. She knew she didn't have the strength to do it herself; she needed Chanyeol's help with this one. With his own shaky hand, her soulmate reach up slowly. She watched his hand as it closed the distance between it and then it was there. She could feel the warmth of his palm immediately. The sound of his heartbeat mixed with hers for a second, and then it quietened down. If she focused enough, she could hear it in the back of her mind where she heard his voice when they communicated silently. It was as if he had his own little home in the back of her head.
Chanyeol's long fingers danced along the skin of her hand until they were sneaking their way between hers. He expected her to pull away, to push him to the side, and to hide away in her room for the rest of the day - she didn't, though. She let her eyes close as she focused on the rhythm of his heartbeat and held his hand tenderly in her own.
"I believe this calls for a celebratory dinner," Jongdae suddenly spoke from behind the pair. Chanyeol looked up at the man with wide eyes, startled by his presence even though he had known the man was there. Naoki pulled her hand out of her soulmates in a hasty manner, turning to look at her best friend with flushed cheeks. She had forgotten he was there.
"It's been a minute and you've already forgotten I exist?" He teased her playfully when he noticed the look on her face. The smile that formed on her face at his words only made him grin. He glanced down at his watch and his grin faltered at the time of the hour.
"Ah, it's the big guy's bed time in twenty minutes. We should head out," he announced as his gaze shifted from the object on his wrist to Chanyeol. The dark haired man released a sigh but stepped around Naoki carefully to stand by the guard's side. She swallowed nervously as she eyed the two men. What would happen now?
"I'll be here late tomorrow. Sleep in for once. You deserve it after today," The guard told her as he pointed at her. There was still a small smile on his face.
"Okay mom. Rest well," she joked. The corners of Chanyeol's mouth rugged upward at this and her eyes found his seconds later.
"Goodnight," she said to him.
"Goodnight," he told her before the guard reach over and tugged at the sleeve of his uniform's shirt. The woman watched as they walked away, ignoring the way her stomach reacted when the giant glanced over his shoulder at her as he left.
"Do I really stink?" She heard him as Jongdae once they were farther down the hall. She scoffed in disbelief before she turned around and entered her room for the night.
Jongdae hadn't been lying when he said he would be showing up late the next day. He arrived around eleven thirty, his light knocks disturbing the woman from the nap she had been trying to take. She hadn't gotten much sleep that night due to the previous day's events. It was okay, she didn't mind it too much.
The guard insisted on getting lunch together since they hadn't been able to get breakfast that morning. She agreed without hesitation. They were sitting at their usual table discussing the training schedule for that week when a man called out Chanyeol's name from the other side of the room. It was the same man that the giant always chatted with during meals. Naoki had even spotted them chatting while walking in the halls sometimes.
"Look at him," Jongdae scoffed as he watched the tall man walk across the cafeteria with all the confidence in the world. His head was held high, a wide grin was stretched across his face, and his skin glowed as if he were a mythical creature. Naoki could hear the amusement in the guard's voice as he watched the man strut around the room confidentially. She hadn't been particularly amused by it until the clumsy giant accidentally bumped into someone and made them drop their tray. He apologized repeatedly as soon at the collision occurred and, thankfully, the woman was kind enough to let it go. Naoki knew why the woman had been so forgiving. Her rosy cheeks and flirtatious smile had been enough for the entire room to know, but Chanyeol seemed obvious to it.
"He's embarrassing. Do we have to take him out in public?" Naoki asked the guard playfully as she looked over at him. He swallowed the bite of his sandwich he had been chewing on before he answered.
"I take you out in public, don't I?"
"Can I sit with you?" She heard Chanyeol's voice in the back of her head.
"No," she told him playfully.
"Can I bring Baekhyun, too?" the man added a moment later.
"Bigger no," she replied. It was about two minutes later that the giant appeared in front of her with a stranger by his side. The two sat down, one with a shy smile on his face and the other with a wide grin.
"Dae, can you explain to Chanyeol what the word 'no' means?" Naoki asked her friend as she pointed over at the black haired man.
"Friendship bracelets?" The man next to Chanyeol asked as he looked back and forth between the woman and the guard's wrists. They had both propped their elbows on the table at they ate their lunch. Naoki felt herself automatically lower her arms from view. Jongdae simply kept chewing his food, unbothered by the attention.
"Why don't we have friendship bracelets?" The man asked Chanyeol with a small pout on his face. The giant laughed as he looked at the man, thinking he was kidding. When the man didn't laugh with him, he froze.
"You want friendship bracelets?" He asked the man. The man looked away quickly, as if he didn't have a clue what the friendly giant was talking about.
"Who is he?" Naoki asked Chanyeol. She watched as the man's eyes widened. He snapped his fingers together before he placed a long arm around the stranger's shoulder.
"This is Baekhyun. We met on the bus ride here. Baekhyun - this is Guard Kim and Naoki, my soulmate," the dark haired man introduced the three.
"Hi," Jongdae smiled warmly at the man. Baekhyun flashed him a wide smile in return, reaching his hand out for the guard to shake.
"Hi," Naoki said after a moment. She didn't greet him with a smile and there was no enthusiasm in her voice, but Baekhyun reach his hand out for her to shake once Jongdae pulled away from him. She glanced down at the hand, forcing herself to reach across the table and shake it. She didn't have to avoid touching people anymore. She was already bonded to her soulmate now.
"You're even prettier than what Chanyeol said you were," Baekhyun complimented her. She felt her face grow warm. From the way the man's smile grew, he had noticed.
"You think I'm pretty?" She taunted the friendly giant with a raised eyebrow. His eyes widened at the question and snapped over to his friend as he hit the man's arm with mock anger.
"I think the exact words were 'ah, my soulmate is the prettiest woman I've ever seen. She's like a Greek goddess or one of those girls from those dramas I watch-" the man had been speaking in a high pitched tone as he imitated his friend, until Chanyeol's large hand rested over his mouth and blocked his words from escaping. Jongdae was laughing hysterically at the scene. The three men were so caught up in their own moment of chaos that they hadn't even registered the sound of the woman's laughter.

a/n: listen, writing this chapter made me feel something that i cannot even describe and i hope that you all feel the same way after reading it. i love these characters so, so much. i try to reflect their personalities as we know them in my writing, but i have to wing it when it comes to how they would react to the situations i conjure up while writing - so i apologize if anyone seems out of "character". as always, thanks for reading! ☺︎

Chapter Six- Part Three
Steve, Dustin, and Phina stand at the edge of the old junkyard, finally arriving after about a few miles of walking. They were planning to trap Dart, luring it here with the meat that they had trailed over the railroad.
"Oh, yeah," Steve nods, "yeah, this will do. This will do just fine. Good call dude."
He walks forward leaving a grinning Dustin behind him. Phina shakes her head, following Steve as he throws more meat on the ground. The kid was already starting to look up to Steve and Phina could see that Steve was warming up to Dustin as well.
The boys lead the trail of meat into the center of junkyard and Phina tests her perimeter, sensing two people quickly moving towards the yard. The boys pour the rest of their buckets as soon as Phina realizes who was coming towards them.
"I said medium-well," Lucas yells from the edge of the junkyard, Max standing next to him.
The boys jump looking towards the two of them and Steve points at Max, "who's that?"
When Dustin doesn't answer him, Steve looks over at the boy who is staring at Max. Phina sighs at the boy and Steve looks up at her with a questioning look. She nods her head, answering the unspoken question.
"Let's get to work," Phina says.
-
Steve and Phina move the larger stuff, making the old, broken bus into their hideout. Max started to help by moving sheets of metal by the bus for Steve and to make into a barricade. Whatever Dart was, they were assuming he wasn't going to be friendly and they needed to make the bus strong enough to hold him out.
"Does this feel surreal to you," Phina suddenly asks Steve as they lift a heavy piece of metal.
"Hm?" He grunts as they turn it to stand it up against a car. "What do you mean?"
She gestures around them and then between them, "last year before everything went down... we hated each other, a lot. You were king Steve, the player of the school and now here you are, helping a bunch of tweens and the freak of Hawkins trap a supernatural creature in a junkyard."
Steve chuckles, "yeah, I guess it is really weird. Speaking of the tweens, where are the other two."
Phina turns around only seeing Max until she sees them behind a rust red car, "looks like they're having a conference."
Steve rolls his eyes, "well, we don't have time for a conference."
He picks up a chair off the ground and walks over to the kids, hitting the car with the chair, "Hey! Dickheads! How come the only ones helping me out is this random girl and a girl with a head injury? We lose light in forty minutes, Let's go... Let's go!"
   "Alright, asshole," Dustin yells, "god!"
   "Okay, stupid," Lucas grumbles.
Steve walks back over to a grinning Phina, "well at least some things don't change, Harrington."
"And what would that be," he asks.
She smirks, "you're still an ass."
He laughs, "you love me for it."
She tilts her head, her lips twitching into a full smile, "unfortunately."
 -
With all hands helping now, the group was quickly making progress. They gathered all the metal they could, piling it in front of the bus for them to use. Inside, Lucas and Dustin were using the metal Max brought them to cover the glass windows. They were setting up the trap for Dart as well, where they would corner him to kill the thing.
Steve made a trail of gasoline while Phina and Max picked up a ladder. They bring it into the bus and put it through the emergency exit on top of the bus so they could get on top. Then, Phina stood on top while the boys passed up tires for her to stack up to hide behind.
When they were finally done with the bus, it looked like something from an apocalypse movie. One by one they go inside, the light fading outside. Phina is the last one in, nodding to Steve as she steps up the stairs, he closes the door behind her.
All they had to do now, was wait. For how long? They weren't sure. It was already dark out, the sun having disappeared almost half an hour ago. The cold was setting in and the old bus was not good at keeping it out. With her mind not hazed over by the injury to her head, Phina was able to use her powers to keep her warm, heat radiated off of her and Steve subconsciously moved closer to her.
His mind was still on the conversation they had about an hour earlier as he fiddles with his lighter. He had jokingly said she loved him, the thing was, she hadn't denied it. It shouldn't mean anything to him, but it did, it did and he didn't know why. She drove him crazy and he couldn't help it, couldn't help but think about her even in situations like this where they were all in danger.
"So you really fought one of these things before," Max suddenly says, looking at Steve and Phina.
"Yeah," Phina says while Steve nods, "and I have the scars to prove it."
Max continues, "and you're, like, totally, 100% sure it wasn't a bear?"
"Shit, don't be an idiot," Dustin interrupts, "okay? It wasn't a bear. Why are you even here if you don't believe us? Just go home."
Max stands up with her arms crossed, "geesh. Someone's cranky. Past your bedtime?"
She climbs up the ladder and Steve smirks, "that's good. Just show her you don't care."
Dustin stops pacing for a second to look at him, "I don't."
Steve turns to look at the kid and winks, "why are you winking, Steve? Stop."
Dustin walks to the other side of the bus, to get as far from Steve as possible.
Phina snorts, "that is the worst advice I have ever heard."
Steve looks at her, "what do you mean?"
"Act like you don't care?" Phina turns to face him. "That's so stupid."
   "No it's not," Steve chuckles.
   "Yes it is," she smirks.
"It's one of the best pieces of advice that I've got," he argues.
She glances down at his lips, "and how well has it been working for you, Harrington?"
He returns the favor, glancing at her lips as well. How well had it been working? Had it worked at all with who he wanted it to?
"Not that well," he sighs, looking back into her gorgeous eyes, "not at all."
A loud shrieking howl makes them jump apart. They quickly scramble up from their seats and turn to look through the small space of the window. Phina hadn't been focusing and she hadn't felt when the thing was closing in on them.
"You see him," Dustin asks, running to look through the window next to them.
   "No," Steve answers
"Lucas," Dustin yells, "what's going on?"
   "Hold on!"
Phina frantically searches the area with her affinities, even using the fog to try and find it.
"I've got eyes," Lucas yells down to them, "ten o'clock! Ten o'clock!"
Phina hones in on the area, pushing away some of the fog so that they could see the creature a bit better. When she does, Steve points him out to Dustin.
   "What's he doing," Dustin asks.
   "I don't know," Steve whispers.
They watch it as it creeps closer to their trap, but it doesn't enter it.
"He's not taking the bait," Steve says, "why is he not taking the bait?"
"Maybe he's not hungry," Dustin says.
"Maybe he's sick of cow," Steve whispers, leaning away from the window.
Phina watches the thing closely, waiting for it to pounce, not noticing the movement behind her.
"Steve? Steve, what are you doing?"
Phina pushes away from the window to find Steve with his bat slung over his shoulder. She instantly knew what he was about to do and she did not like it one bit.
She points a threatening finger at him, "you are not going out there."
He shakes his head, "I'll just draw him in, you need to stay here and protect the kids."
"What about you," she snaps, "who's going to protect you?"
He sighs, "just watch my back, I know you'll get me before it can."
Everything in her screamed not to let him go, but she knew better than anyone that she worked better if she could see everything.
"Fine," she groans, "but if you get hurt, I'll kill you."
He smiles, "I know you will."
Steve turns away from her as quickly as he can. He knows if he looks into her eyes a second longer he'll change his mind.
He steps down the stairs, slowly opening the loud, rusty door. Phina closes it behind him and rushes to the window to watch. She presses her face against the glass, ready to bolt out the door as soon as something goes wrong.
Steve slowly creeps out, his bat raised and ready to swing. Dart growls off into the distance and Steve starts to whistle as if he were a dog.
"Come on, buddy," Steve says, whistling again, swinging his bat back and forth.
Max climbs down the ladder and looks through the window by Dustin, "what's he doing?"
   "Expanding the menu," Dustin explains.
"Why'd you have to say it like that," Phina groans, anxiously watching Steve.
"Come on, buddy," he says again, standing next to the pile of meat now, "come on, buddy. Come on, dinner time. Human tasted better than cat, I promise."
"He's insane," Max shakes her head.
   "He's awesome," Dustin grins.
Phina shakes her head, "he's an idiot."
Dart slowly stalks towards Steve and Phina's heart starts to race in her chest. This is bad, she shouldn't have let him go out there.
"Steve, watch out," Lucas suddenly yells.
"I'm a little busy here," Steve yells back, not taking his eyes off Dart.
"Three o'clock!" Phina feels them then. "Three o'clock!"
   "Oh, my god," Phina screams.
She's running before she can even think about what she's doing. There are so many of them, so many and they're all circling Steve. She runs towards the door, throwing them open in time to see Steve dive across a car as a creature lunges towards him. He swings his bat, hitting one in the face, hard. Phina runs out of the bus, throwing out a thick green vine to grab one of the creatures as it lunges at Steve's exposed back. The vine shoots from her hand, wrapping around the thing and throwing it across the yard and into a car.
She picks up Steve off the ground as she gets to him, hearing the kids screaming at them to run. More creatures run at them as they sprint back to the bus. Phina throws a wave a fire back at them, trying to at least push them back until she could get Steve inside. She pushes Steve into the bus first, throwing another hand out to shoot vines out to throw away the nearest creatures. Arms wrap around her and she's pulled into the bus as the door shuts, one of the creatures slamming into it. The creatures attack the door, trying to get in.
"Are they rabid or something," Max yells.
Steve grabs a piece of metal and puts it in front of the door. He and Phina push on it with their legs.
"They can't get in," Lucas screams, "They can't!"
The entire bus shifts and they all scream. One of the creatures arms shoots through the metal and everyone screams, running away. Steve grabs his bat and starts to beat at it. Phina lights her hands, ready to burn the creature if Steve couldn't fight it off. The arm retracts and then a loud bang hits the roof, hitting again and again, closer to the ladder.
Phina and Steve bolt towards the kids when Max screams, the creature roaring above her.
"Out of the way," Steve yells, "out of the way! You want some? Come get this!"
Phina grabs the girls and shoves her behind her and Steve, a protective arm holding back the kids as they watch the creature. It screeches at Steve, readying itself to pounce on Steve. Phina grabs Steve's shoulder, ready to throw him back to protect him.
Just when she thinks it's about to happen, it goes silent, closing its hellish mouth and turning away from them. It pushes away from the ladder, letting a loud howl as if calling something. It leaps out of their view, shaking the bus as it goes. Steve lets go of the bat with one hand and grabs Phina's. She squeezes it in reassurance as if to tell him that she was still there, that she was alright.
All around them the creatures howl back and forth, growing fainter as they ran away. Steve slowly pulls Phina towards the front of the bus, the kids trailing behind them. Their hand's grip on the others, the adrenaline, and fear keeping them there. Steve nods at Dustin and the kid opens the doors slowly. Steve steps through first, holding out his bat in front of him. Phina calls to every plant around her and they shift, ready to protect them.
"What happened," Lucas asks as he steps out after the two teenagers.
"I don't know," Max answers for all of them.
"Steve scared 'em off," Dustin asks.
"No." Steve shakes his head. "No way. They're going somewhere."
   "Where," Dustin asks.
Phina groans, squeezing Steve's hand, "that's what we gotta find out."

So i've never prompted anyone before and I'm sorry if this is lame, but maybe one of those 5+1 things where it's 5 times a batfam member catches damijon kissing, and one time they get caught doing something that's definitely not kissing, up to you whether the last thing is something lewd or something funny/cute.
Whoo boy anon! You’re my first blood :p Honestly, I’m not sure what you meant by that 5+1 thing, but I did come up with this…
Tumblr media
Bruce kind of regretted sending the drone after Damian that night.
Originally, he and Clark just wanted to check up on their sons’ progress as a team. Bruce had secretly sent out a cloaked drone to monitor the boys on their mission. He expected to see an improvement on cooperation, teamwork, coordination…he definitely did not expect to see Robin kissing Superboy on a rooftop.
Clark sat beside him, equally stunned. Bruce wished that his friend would say something, anything, just to lift the incredibly awkward silence. Finally, Clark cleared his throat.
“Did you know?” Superman asked with forced calmness. It was obvious he was still at a loss for words?
Bruce glanced at him awkwardly. “I’m the world’s greatest detective, but no I didn’t know.”
Clark stared at him for a few tense seconds, and then he grinned.
“Bruce, that’s what you said last Christmas,” Clark chuckled.
“Every time I feel like I know Damian, he keeps proving me wrong,” Bruce said with amusement. He shook his head, and the tension evaporated.
“How to be a good father to our sons is the greatest mystery of all,” Clark said with a smile.

Dick listened to his little brother with rapt attention. He could have told Damian to stop, he could’ve asked Jon to sit down and relax, but he didn’t. Even though he knew about them already, he let Damian talk. They both needed to do this in their own way, without any interruptions.
Damian gulped as he finished, and then glanced at Jon. They both nodded with determination.
Dick watched as Damian closed his eyes and pressed his lips against Jon’s.
“Do you understand, Grayson?” Damian asked wearily. He was holding Jon’s hand tightly, the younger boy’s fingers laced through his own.
“I understand that I have a new brother now, I guess,” Dick shrugged comically. His humor had the intended effect. Jon started giggling and the edge of Damian’s mouth twitched, as if he almost wanted to laugh.
Dick wrapped both boys in a hug.
“Coming out takes a lot more courage than putting on tights every night to soak up bullets and knives,” Dick began. “I know how much this means to you, and really, thank you for trusting me.”
“Of course we’d trust you!” Jon chirped. “You’re the best big brother ever!”
“Watch it,” Damian pouted. “He was my brother first!”
Of course, Dick thought, bickering was part of the package.
“Don’t worry, Damian. You’re both equally brats,” he laughed.

Jason swore. He spent the last of his cash for the week on the magazine, and this was what he saw. To be fair, he’d expected Damian to get into kissing at this age. What he didn’t expect was that Damian would be kissing Jon.
When Damian had texted him for dating tips, Jason had told Daman to meet him in the arcade. Jason already knew what he had to as an older brother—he was going to buy Damian his first porn mag. Sure, he could’ve gone online for porn, but nothing beats the classic physical porn mag to give you that “naughty” frame of mind. He was going to take one for the team and tell Damian all the ways you could pleasure a girl in graphic detail. After all, what was an older brother for?
But then yeah, Damian had kissed a boy—a Superboy. It was just a quick peck on the cheek after Jon had beaten the high score on a ring toss. It was enough for Jason to know that his plan was ruined.
He’d gotten that magazine from one of his shadier contacts who swore on five different crosses that it wasn’t probably smuggled. The catch was, there were no refunds or exchanges. Jason sighed.
“Hey, kid,” Jason said to the boy nearest him. He was just another kid at the arcade holding one of those gun-shaped controllers. Jason handed him the magazine. “Here. From Santa Clause.”
The boy stared dumbfounded at the magazine, and then at Jason, who’d started to walk away.
“But…it’s August!” he called out in disbelief.
“I’m doing summer shifts,” Jason said without looking back.
He took out his phone a dialed his friend again.
“Emil, it’s me,” Jason said. “I need a new…book. My brother didn’t like the last one. Can you get me something with just guys in it? Yes, I said what you think I just said. And yeah, my brother found someone cute, don’t worry.”

Everyone considered Tim to be a genius. But in this case, he’d have agreed with anyone who’d wanted to call him an idiot.
“I’m sorry, okay?” Tim groaned.
“Sorry?” Damian chided. “What you did was reprehensible, Drake! A complete disregard for me and Jon’s privacy!”
Damian huffed with his arms crossed. His indignation was undercut by how disheveled he looked and the red mark on his neck. Jon sat awkwardly beside him, his hair a tangled mess and his vest halfway off his body. He was staring at the floor and fiddling with his thumbs.
“You guys were eating each other on the sofa. Which is in the living room. Which everyone walks past on the way to the kitchen.” Tim said dryly.
“It’s midnight!” Damian protested. “No one in their right mind would come through here!”
“So I drink an espresso every midnight, no big deal,” Tim said nonchalantly. “That’s not the issue here. It’s you two.”
“What do you mean?” Jon asked, his bright blue eyes sparkling with anxiety.
Tim sighed. “I mean get a room. We live in a mansion, Damian. We have five guest rooms for goodness’ sake. You have a 70 square meter bedroom! I know you guys are head over heels for each other, but how do you think it makes me feel when we walk in on you inhaling each other’s faces like that?”
“You?” Damian smirked. “Jealous.”
Jon burst out laughing.
Tim rolled his eyes at the young teen and walked away. He needed twice as much coffee now that Damian had Jon. A sullen Damian would often annoy Tim, but a happy Damian? He shuddered at the thought.
I’m totally not jealous.
***
Damian froze. His eyes flung open and he saw that Jon had done the same. It felt somewhat odd to pause just as their lips had begun their clandestine adventure, but fear and surprise interrupted their higher brain functions. They weren’t able to pull away from each other when they’d heard the door open.
It happened much too fast than was humanly possible. Alfred had opened the door, crossed the room, and set the gleaming silver tray down on the bedside table all in the span of three seconds. It took him half a second to arch his eyebrow at Jon, whose lips were still firmly locked with Damian’s as though in a paused recording. Another second later, Alfred had closed the door.
The boys had gotten over their trance and pulled themselves apart. Alfred didn’t know, of course. They’d only told Dick, and had made Tim swear to keep what he saw a secret or else Damian would throw out all the mansion’s coffee reserves. They didn’t know how Alfred would react, or if he’d tell, or if the old butler would get a heart attack. For a minute, they were silent, their eyes speaking volumes about what they’d feared.
Suddenly, the door opened once more. It was Alfred, carrying an identical silver tray as the one he’d placed before. Damian felt a sense of déjà vu as Alfred mechanically placed the tray in front of them in exactly the same way as he’d done earlier, as if repeating that instance in time. When he opened the tray, Damian saw that it was a sandwich exactly like his own.
But unlike before, there was a pastel-colored box on the tray—it was a box of Kleenex.
Damian and Jon’s eyes grew wide as the implication hit them. With a barely imperceptible wink, Alfred swept out of the room, leaving two very red-faced boys behind him.
