if Rhaenyra reminds her of Cersei who does Allicent remind her of? the situation that Rhaenyra is in is the fault of Otto and her father? she did everything in her power to protect her family instead Otto and his daughter, from the beginning they sought to take away from her her right to the throne. compare to Otto and Rhaenyra? The only reason she became cruel was because of the deaths of her children. By supporting the greens, she goes against what the Starks decided, and becomes Otto's puppet
Hi nonny!,
I think you commented also under the fic, sorry for being unable to reply sooner.
I think you're taking too literally what you read forgetting that it's the biased POV of characters who don't see the whole picture.
I guess by your ask that you may be a fan of team Black and whilst I stand with Shireen on this one (that I would choose neither and that the whole thing of choosing made things so bad to begin with); that is also a very idealistic view of something very tangible and plausible, historically speaking.
Rhaenyra is also inspired by one of my fav historical women, Empress Maud.
But it's also true that in asoiaf Rhaenyra does remind of Cersei. Both women were protecting their children I don't argue with that, tho they put their children in that position themselves — we can stay here until the next coming and argue that it shouldn't matter that they are bastards, truth is that in our world that matters less, but in their context bastardy has an incredible weight and people moving in-context have been raised and see things a certain way that is considered acceptable — because they chose to lay with men who were not their husbands and have children with them.
It is a sad society, one in which Laenor could not be openly himself and whilst the whole supportive Rhaenyra is a show-news, as in the book she's very cruel to him for this sexuality (going far enough to actually stain his reputation not only because of his preference toward men, but also suggesting he may be a pedophile as well), Rhaenyra same as Cersei is a victim not only of her time and society but of herself as well.
What more, in the show is made even more clear that the children were not Leanor's. Whilst in the book the doubt could remain to an outsider — as Rhaenys had, had the dark hair of House Baratheon thus the children could have inherited her look instead than the Valyrian one, and Laenor did not have dark skin — in the show such a doubt is completely dispersed as the children of Laena and Daemon (which could be the genetic counterpart of Rhaenyra and Laenor) had darker skin than their father, something that did not happen with Rhaenyra's children.
So, putting what Rhaenyra did in the right context and society in which she moves, whatever happened to her children was not only a product of society but also of Rhaenyra's actions. Who had children with a man not her husband and who wanted to put them on the Iron throne and the seat of Driftmark as if they were trueborn.
And whilst we say they should be able to inherit from the mother, as we do it whilst looking at it with a modern perspective you forget than in doing so Rhaenyra was illicitly robbing Baela and Rhaena of their birthright (Driftmark).
With Laenor and Laena both dead, Baela and Rhaena came before any other contestant to Driftmark as trueborn and half Velaryon by blood. Instead that show she had understood how universal the change of law Viserys had made could be, and actually make a good change, Rhaenyra forwarded her bastard son (who had no right to Driftmark) to the seat of Driftmark thus robbing Baela and Rhaena of their birthright (the very same thing she accuses Aegon of doing, btw) binding them to humiliate themselves (always in the context and views of the society) by having to bind themselves to bastards who had no right to the seat they could claim by law only so that Rhaenyra could sit on the Iron throne and pass it on her bastard son, in an attempt to keeping what had been their mother's home.
So, if Baela was right to be mad at Aemond (as I've seen some Black stans saying) because he stole Vhagar from her because she wanted to claim her mother's dragon (forgetting Vhagar is not a land, but a sentient being) shouldn't Laena's girls also be mad at Rhaenyra to force them to marry her sons to inherit Driftmark which actually is theirs by law?, especially when, as Lucerys says himself he has doubts over claiming Driftmark when he never learned the Velaryon way (another misstep by Rhaenyra btw).
Try and see it from Sansa's perspective.
Rhaenyra's line ended with Aerys and Daenerys (and Jon but she doesn't know that), both rulers Sansa despises. Aerys for what he did to her family and the Realm, and Daenerys for who she is and what she threatens to do to the Realm (which she ends up doing btw, so her preoccupations were founded)
Rhaenyra wants to rob other women of their rightful claim (like Cersei did to Stannis and Renly and Shireen) by forwarding her bastard born children, she means to use them the way she refused to be used when it came to her. Sansa herself has been overlooked time and time again because of her claim, or people tried to use her because of it. She despises those who try to do the same and Rhaenyra is doing the same to Baela and Rhaena.
Rhaenyra has shown her cruel side (Sansa witnessed Joffrey making a bard chose between fingers and tongue; Rhaenyra demanded the head of a man who told the truth, and the tongues of other men who said the truth — which is book canon — and it's easy to see how Sansa would feel about that since her lord father was executed because he told the truth about Joffrey — always about bastardy come to think of it)
Rhaenyra wants to put her bastards on the throne above those who are trueborn (her first three children are bastards and, if we actually take the show as form of canon, even Aegon and Viserys are bastards as Laenor is still alive somewhere) and she killed, or is rumored to have had an hand in the death of her husband to then marry her own uncle. Which again how could Sansa not think of Cersei, who plotted for her husband's death and had no qualms in admitting her incestous relationship with Jaime. All things Sansa knows; what more she wants to put her children in the seat of her dead husband, though they hold no right over it, over those who actually have that right.
Aemond might have killed Lucerys, the same boy who maimed him, in battle above Storm's Ends (one was nineteen, the other fifteen — both too young, but — they were both considered adults for the context and society), but Rhaenyra and Daemon went after Jaehaerys who was SIX and had yet to do anything to be a threat save being born. You see the blatant difference from two men (for the time and context; though still too young to take part into war) and men against children. How is that better than what Cersei did in the book (and Joff in the show) with killing all of Robert bastards, who btw, didn't pose any kind of threat save being born and resembling their father?
Is it very difficult to see why Rhaenyra would remind Sansa of Cersei?, especially knowing that Rhaenyra would act in such a way that the people would turn against her?, raising the taxes as a direct result of the way she went head-on into war and becoming paranoid and acting out because of it?, how does any of that not remind Sansa of Cersei?
If anything Daenerys is less foolish than Rhaenyra in this aspect, she knew she had nothing for her campaign west save her dragons, which were still too little and could be killed, she raised three armies and conquered cities east to gain labor-force, blindly loyal armies and coin enough to finance herself coming back to Westeros; though she foolishly began something as a show of force she doesn't know how to finish.
Anyway, digressing and dissecting something about which we know very little still.
I think it's not farfetched to see why Sansa would be reminded of Cersei upon seeing Rhaenyra's behavior and actions.
Alicent is putting her trueborn Targaryen children on the throne knowing well enough that Rhaenyra would not easily let them live when at least half the lords of the Realm's rather see a man on the Iron throne than a woman. It's a matter of how society works.
Remember what Sansa did when Bran returned to Winterfell?, she took the side when the lords named Jon (a bastard) king over the trueborn daughter, because Jon had shown his worth and she believed in him, yet the moment Bran returned she wielded rulership over Winterfell, her only agency, to her brother tho he was younger and possibly could not have children, because he was Ned Stark trueborn son.
Also Sansa knows perfectly well the Greens aren't stinchi di santi, as we say in Italy (all high and mighty). And yet Aegon III and Viserys II were never went after by the Greens and survived the Dance, whilst Rhaenyra had no qualms going after Jaehaerys. Also they hold the distinction of not being completely unreasonable and needlessly cruel.
Syrax eating Vaemond's remains is book canon, and it's something terrible and atrocious. It's cruelty for cruelty's sake (which is why they took it off from the show).
As far as Sansa has seen the Greens take care of each other and are united, Alicent tries to steer her children toward mercy and piety (from what she's seen) and tries to avoid too much bloodbath.
Is she perfect? Hell no.
In fact Sansa doesn't go to Alicent. She goes to Aemond, who has shown he can be gentle and has shown (the streets scene) he knows how to avoid riots (a bit like he said in the show, he is competent to do his duty — as he showed during his time as Prince Regent during Aegon's illness) and who values loyalty over ambition (he knows he's better fit for the throne and yet he supports his brother completely), something Rhaenyra has not shown. Sansa doesn't think of Alicent when she thinks she's alone and without a pack, she thinks of Helaena standing up for her. She thinks of Helaena begging to be killed in her son's stead and having to witness his death. She thinks of a boy of four (it's 126 in the fic) who had no fault and was brutally murdered just because he was Aegon's heir (the same way Rickon was brutally killed by Ramsay in the show). She sees Aemond and is reminded of Jon, the brother who defended her, and of Bran the brother who was maimed because he climbed too high and saw what he shouldn't have.
What part of her going to Aemond after speaking to Otto makes you think Sansa is becoming Otto's puppet? Do you think Sansa to have been LF's puppet because she kept him around until she could do away with him?
Again, Rhaenyra's line brought the Realm to the brink of self-destruction even before the dead stepped past the Wall (remember she doesn't know about Jon's parentage, though it was his Stark's duty — defending the North from the enemies that lay beyond the Wall — that moves him) and almost destroyed House Stark as well. Under the rulership of her line the castle of the Wall stopped being manned until basically one a handful still could hold off the wildlings (let alone the dead and the Others).
If she were to move the strings, instead, could she ensure the North come out stronger? This is the question she asks herself.
Also, never forget House Stark has a knack for not breaking an oath and still moving around it to get the best outcome. Cregan didn't move from the North until most of the Dance was done with, and it was during the Hour of the Wolf, when Cregan basically put in order the Realm that Aegon III was betrothed to Jaehaera (Aegon II's daughter). And again, Sansa knows what Rhaenyra's line will mean for House Stark, she's going to defend House Stark and the North.
Also, she compares Otto to Rhaenyra whilst knowing very well there are differences, because Otto has no qualms in using her and possibly put her in death-peril to divide the Blacks, and Rhaenyra does the very same. In the aspect of how far they'll go to reach what they want, they are similar (though Rhaenyra will show to be much worse, as she will have Jaehaerys brutally killed) and Sansa acknowledges they are both a threat.
Sansa is not becoming anyone's puppet, Sansa is a player outside the board, so to speak. Remember Petyr's lessons?
Anyone is your enemy and anyone is your friend.
And Ned's lessons.
Love is a surer way to loyalty then fear.
Sansa has entered the game, and she's a difficult player to beat not only because she knows snippets of what may happen, but because she has a goal the others can't even envision. And if they don't know what she wants they can't know how to move her, instead she knows what they want.
Remember, Sansa is the kind of woman who would work around an oath or break it, if it meant ensuring the safety of those she loves. She's the kind of woman who looked past the obvious advantage of having a queen in love with her brother in her grasp because that didn't mean she would be a good queen.
And that kind of player is the worst player to defeat. I said it once and I'll say it again, the game of thrones never has a clean cut victory or defeat; and yet Sansa is a victor, because she reached her goal. Ensuring the North went free and Jon was spared (she wanted him to return as king, as she herself says), being loved.
A puppet? Sansa is the mastermind and she has started to play.
I hope I have resolved your doubts about why in my story things are approached in a certain manner. Sorry again for not managing to reply to you under the fic, but as you've seen I am not replying to comments there as I am very busy, tho I read them all and had intended to reply to your query, happy to be able to do it here!
As always thank you for dropping by, and hope you have a wonderful day! All the love ~G.

the maister system and the new 'find vocations out in the world' system is...ok, but I prefer the old colour system
#saint plays dd2#like coming in as someone who knows nothing abt how DD:O worked DD2's vocation system feels like a major step back#95% of the augments are useless and aren't worth using so there's no real build variety anymore#nor is there any real weight to choosing what to run in terms of combat effectiveness and QoL stuff like carry weight anymore#bc there's only like 5-8 augments worth taking bc the stat bonus are insultingly low for the effort of leveling the vocation#and the colours feel arbitrary bc it's not a tree system anymore. thief is green bc it's green and there's no hybrid green#whereas in DD1 every base vocation had a hybrid colour mix and it made logical sense#strider (yellow) and mage (blue) became a magick archer. strider and fighter (red) doubled down on the melee and became assassin.#while keeping the bow as a sidearm.#pure red became warrior and dumped the shield for 2h colossal but slow attacks. pure blue sacrificed utility for highest tier damage spells#and so on. it just felt so much more intuitive and felt like actual growth when you could 'upgrade' to a hybrid vocation bc#you actually needed to have X number of ranks in both colours before you could take it whereas in 2 they're all just standalone classes#and the meister skill systems are....ok. I don't know how I feel abt all of them being connected to optional sidequests you can fuck up#or straight up just miss bc this game still has the weird design flaw of having points of no return where quests autofail#also like I feel to get the meister skill either you or your pawn should actually have like. maxed the vocation out.#like it feels weird when I get magick archer and then immediately unlock the meister skill at the same time#when I haven't even bought the vocation yet.

“Are you sure you do not wish for me to carry that, my lady?” Osferth asks for the millionth time, nodding his head at the basket, laden with various herbs and medicinal plants, in the crook of your elbow.
For the millionth time, you merely shake your head with a crooked smile. “I wish only for your company, monk,” you glance over at him as the two of you walk through the forest, admiring the way the early afternoon sun casts a golden halo through his hair, “I told you as much when we left camp this morning.”
Osferth merely nods in reply; your man is one of few words. A soft blush blooms across your cheeks at the thought – your man, but it was as good as true. Osferth was the first man in Uhtred’s company you felt comfortable with when you joined their cause all those months ago when they’d stopped in your small hamlet in need of a healer; you’d been by their side ever since.
In the months since, your relationship with the monk had steadily grown from hushed whispers around the campfire in the dead of night, when sleep eluded the both of you, to heated glances, delicate touches, and stolen kisses. More recently, Osferth had all but insisted on accompanying you nearly everywhere you went, which is how he’d come to follow you as you walked through the forest to gather the variety of curative plants you need.
A content sigh passes your lips as you tilt your head up, taking in the way the tips of the trees stretch up toward the blue sky. “I had almost forgotten what the sun looked like,” you joke, your heart squeezing proudly in your chest as the monk chuckles next to you, “But hopefully this summer will be dryer than the last.”
“I have prayed many times for sun,” Osferth says with a nod, blue eyes soft as he gazes at you, “Unfortunately, the Lord seems to ignore those requests.” The corner of his lips tilts up as he huffs a laugh at his own joke.
Suddenly, a branch snaps loudly not too far off the winding path the two of you have been strolling down. Osferth acts quickly, ever vigilant, and takes your hand to usher you behind him as he draws his sword. Your breath quickens as you peek around his shoulder, pressing yourself tightly against his back as your hand grips his; you’d been assured by Uhtred’s scouts that the forest surrounding camp was perfectly safe, but in these times danger seemed to creep up from every corner.
A buck appears a little ways down the path, followed by two more deer, each sparing you and the monk only a quick glance before scampering into the forest once more. The two of you let out a collective sigh of relief as Osferth sheaths his sword with a shy smile.
“Perhaps now would be a good time for a break, my lady?” He suggests with a soft smile, “We’ve been walking since morning.”
“I think we’ve earned a break,” you nod, gazing up at him through your lashes, the two of you still close enough that you could make out soft flecks of green in his blue eyes, “I believe I saw a clearing a few paces back.”
“Lead the way.” Osferth nods, keeping in pace with you as you backtrack to where you’d spotted a lush clearing through the trees only moments ago. As you walk, nearly shoulder to shoulder, the monk silently takes your hand again, his rough fingers threading together with yours. Neither of you speaks, though you can nearly feel his pleased smile from your periphery, twin to your own.
After only a few moments, you veer off the path as the two of you step into a sizable glade, the trees giving way to a field of tall grass. Your hands stay clasped as you walk together, basket still tucked in your elbow as you lift the skirts of your linen gown to prevent it from snagging on the high blades of grass; your chest tightens once more when you glance down and notice how Osferth takes great care to step over any flowers in his path, the ones that sprinkle the meadow with pops of yellow and lilac.
Soon, you come to a spot where the ground seems to be drier, however the monk grasps your forearm to stop you as he slips the thin, grey wool cloak off his shoulders and drapes it over the ground.
“Osferth,” you gently admonish, though a smile does creep across your lips at the sweet gesture, “I am perfectly capable of sitting on the ground.”
“A lady should not have to,” he says simply, nodding to the cloak, “Please.”
With a final glance, and a good-natured roll of your eyes, you comply, setting your basket down before relaxing atop his robe. After making sure you’re settled, the monk joins you, setting his sword to the side as he sits and leans back on his hands, scanning the treeline.
“It’s so lovely here…” you smile as you glance around, a soft breeze causing the grass to rustle around you.
Osferth sits up beside you, a relaxed smile on his lips as he takes your hand and pulls you closer to him. “I find the company to be far lovelier,” he whispers before capturing your lips in a sweet kiss, never taking more than you seem keen to give. The two of you easily fall into a lazy rhythm, your lips moving together as he guides you to lie against his chest. You lay your hand against his chest, right over his heart, thankful that he’s forgone his usual leather armor and chainmail today as you feel his warmth through the soft tunic he wears.
He sighs against your lips, his fingers gently weaving into the locks of hair at the nape of your neck, sending a shiver down your spine and making you cling to him all the more tightly, his other hand wrapping around your waist before settling in the small of your back, holding you to him.
After a few moments, the two of you part to catch your breath and he studies you with a warm gaze as you relax against his chest. “We are meant to be stopping in a town tonight.” Osferth says simply.
“That we are.”
“We could get a room together,” he breathes, making you gasp as he trails kisses across your jaw, “Just the two of us.”
Immediately, you tense up and untangle yourself from him, sitting up with a sigh. He quickly sits up next to you and you can feel him eyeing you with concern, though you dare not meet his gaze.
“My lady, I didn't mean to offend you…” He says hesitantly, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“You didn’t offend me, sweet monk,” you turn to him with a bashful smile, “I am simply…I don’t know if i’m ready.”
“Ready for what?” His head tilts to the side as he eyes you curiously.
You chuckle nervously, unsure of how to broach the topic. “Osferth, I have heard enough tales of your…prowess around the campfire to know that my skills do not match your own.”
The crease between his brows only deepens as he continues staring at you, blue eyes flitting between your own. “My prowess?”
“With more…intimate relations…” You say slowly, glancing away from him.
“Oh,” he says softly before his eyes widen comically, a dark blush cascading over his fair cheeks, “Oh!”
You can’t help but laugh softly at his dumbstruck expression, your lips quirking up into a soft smile despite your nerves.
The hand on your shoulder tightens as he leans closer to you. “My love, you need not fret over it,” he whispers, blue eyes conveying a deep seriousness, “We can get a room at the tavern and not do anything at all.”
Your eyebrows knit together in confusion – you’ve always been told to expect a very different answer from men. “What?”
He huffs out a soft laugh and pulls you back down to lie on the grass with him once more. “I mean what I say,” he says softly, one hand stroking your hair, “We can get a room and just kiss or cuddle or merely talk, I don’t care.” You look up from where you’ve had your cheek laying against his chest, the emotion in his eyes shocking you for a second, “I just want to be with you.” He whispers finally.
You can feel yourself blushing as he speaks, the apples of your cheeks heating up deliciously under his kind gaze. A girlish giggle erupts from your lips before you can stop it, which only makes him laugh too as you bury your head against his chest and bite your lip, breathing in his familiar scent of leather and campfire smoke.
After a moment, the two of you calm down and you finally look back up at him, “Kissing sounds good…” you nearly whisper, suddenly shy as he surveys your face.
Osferth merely chuckles, low in his throat, and rolls the two of you over. Normally, this is when you’d be pushing any other man off of you with some mumbled excuse, but you can’t help but feel safe with the sandy haired monk, taking him at his word that whatever you were willing to give would be enough.
“We have time, and plenty of herbs already,” he rasps, his voice thick with an arousal you’d only heard on a very scant few occasions when the two of you had shared frantic kisses in the night once the rest of the men were asleep, “Why wait until tonight?”
A small giggle escapes you once again as the blush on your cheeks extends down, almost all the way to your chest, but you nod nonetheless, your arms coming up to snake around his neck as you pull him down to you. A small whimpery breath escapes you when his lips touch yours yet again, and he responds in kind with a low groan, the sound rumbling from his chest. His lips are soft against your own as the two of you move leisurely; once again, he lets you set the pace, only licking at your bottom lip after you do the same to him first.
Your thighs spread as your kiss deepens and you moan again when he slots himself between your thighs, the linen of your dress hiked up just above your knees. A shiver rolls through you at the feel of him on top of you, so warm and weighty.
“Is this alright?” He breathes, navy eyes blinking between each of yours as he checks for any signs of discomfort from you, visibly relaxing when he finds none.
Wordlessly, you nod, bobbing your head eagerly as you pull him back down. His hands roam carefully over your body as your lips and tongues move together, breathlessly licking into each other's mouths. You whine into his mouth when you feel a hardness pressing against your center, a pleased hum emanating from your chest at the realization that you’ve affected him this much with only a kiss; the pride in your heart twists into something different, something deeper as a knot forms and begins tightening in your belly.
“My lady –” Osferth mumbles as he starts to pull away from you, an apologetic smile on his handsome face.
“Don’t!” You say quickly, tugging him back to you and surprising even yourself as you wrap your legs around his trim waist, “Please, I – It’s good.” You confirm breathlessly, eyebrows quirked up with need as you look up at him through your lashes.
“Yeah?” He asks, unable to wipe the pleased grin off his face as he settles back on top of you, careful to keep most of his weight off of you as he presses against your center again.
You nod, already threading your fingers into the short hair at the back of his head to draw his lips back to yours. A breathy, high-pitched moan leaves you at the feel of his clothed length pressing against you, the ties at the front of his breeches only adding to the pleasurable sensations that zap through you as he starts rolling his hips against your own.
His pace quickens as he breaks away from you, panting against your skin as he traces wet kisses down your jaw to your neck. Your head lolls to the side as you whimper and whine underneath him, eyes rolling to the back of your head as you feel his hard cock twitch against you, even through the fabric of your smallclothes.
You’re quick to match his pace, using the leverage of your legs wrapped around his middle to ruck yourself up into each thrust, earning grunts of pleasure from the monk.
“My lady,” he groans, one hand fisting into your hair as the other trails down to run appreciatively over the bare skin of your thigh, “Y-You are bewitching.” He gasps, mouthing at your neck, his cock no doubt leaking into the leather of his trousers.
Your only reply is a choked out moan of his name as your back arches underneath him, the knot in your belly winding tighter and tighter as the ties of his breeches rub over your pearl deliciously, your smallclothes no doubt soaked.
Blessedly, Osferth seems to understand the desperation in your voice and movements and pulls back to look at you, both of his hands quickly grasping yours, fingers threading together as he holds them to the earth beside your head.
 “Sweet girl,” he grunts as he gazes down at you, a rosy blush cascading beautifully over his high cheekbones, “P-Peak, my lady, please,” he pants as his fingers tighten against your own, “I’m, God be good, I’m right behind you.”
You nod frantically, your only sound a choked out sob as you tense underneath him when his hips rut perfectly against yours, the knots of his pants catching against your sensitive bud in just the right way to tip you over the edge. You twitch underneath him, white knuckling his hands when you feel your center clenching helplessly around nothing as pleasure buzzes through you.
Osferth reaches his end mere seconds after you, humping against you two or three more times before tensing, his eyes squeezing shut as his own high washes over him, cock spasming in his breeches as his spend leaks into the waiting fabric.
“You’re beautiful,” you declare softly, the words tumbling from your lips as soon as you think of them.
The monk blushes somehow more heavily above you, though a soft smile graces his lips. With a soft sigh, he falls to his side, bringing you with him. Your cheek once again finds its home against his chest and you smile at the sound of his heart thumping wildly as he pulls you closely to him, one arm wrapping protectively around you as he tucks the other under his head, letting his eyes flutter shut.
“You flatter me, my lady,” he says lowly, a pleased rasp to his voice. “You are truly an angel,” he continues after a moment, “A beautiful, precious angel.”
You smile contentedly, his heart thudding steadily in your ear as you let your eyes drift shut, happy to stay in this still, safe bubble with your monk for as long as the outside world will allow.

Saint Laurent 'Cassandra Medium Shoulder Bag' - $2,895.00
The history behind the 'YSL' Cassandra line is an interesting one - it's actually named after Adolphe Mouron Cassandre, the man who designed the iconic 'YSL' logo seen here on the bag's front.
A part of me can't help but wonder if Taylor felt kinship to a bag that also shared a name with Cassandra, of Greek myth fame who was doomed to utter prophecies that no one would believe. The poetry of that possibility really strikes me as it feels almost assured that the next (Taylor's Version) re-record release will be reputation - an album that of course has roots in a famed phone call gone wrong where Taylor told the truth and no one believed her. Too stretchy? Or totally plausible? Would love your thoughts!
Regardless, I love the sleek lines and chain detailing on this bag. But what I love most - if my eyes aren't deceiving me - is this gorgeous green leather colour.

Kaz Brekker x Fem!Reader
Part Two to Useful Skills
I have spent forever trying to come up with a title so settle for this very bad one. I also can't tell if I hate this or not but the plot is so fucking bad.
synposis: Kaz learns what you mean when you say your power is your weakness.
warnings: not proofread or edited, mentions of stalking/following someone, Kaz being an asshole to others but not you bc cute, Injury and talk of Pain, reader passes out, kind of generally angsty crap for a minute and then fluff
Tumblr media
There were pros and cons to being a crow and one of the big cons was stakeouts in the freezing cold.
Kaz had ordered you and Jesper to stake out one of his chosen targets, a lawyer who had a mistress in the Lid. Mostly it meant that you and Jesper had followed him from his cushy apartment in the financial sector to a gambling den and then to his mistresses. Keeping Jesper out of the gambling den had been the hardest, but now as you trailed behind him in the barrel's bustling streets, you were cursing the cold and damp Ketterdam weather.
You and Jesper were dressed in Komedie Brute costumes, Jesper had on Mister Crimsons' cape and mask, hiding his well-known face from those in the barrel. You were covered in the Scarab Queens dress, the shimmering green catching the lights of the barrel. Although the costume was meant to keep you hidden in the crowd of faces, you couldn't help but curse it for how cold it was. Jesper didn't look to be faring much better, his hands were tucked tightly in his pockets, trying to keep them warm. You had no pockets, having to rub your hands together occasionally.
Your wrist had healed more since the incident at Hellgate, but the cold brought out a phantom pain that you were sure would never quite go away.
"Look," Jesper stopped on the sidewalk, pulling you along with him to look up at a building. Like most of the other buildings in the barrel and the Lid, the house was leaning suspiciously into its neighbour. You could almost imagine how damp it would be on the inside, with wallpaper flaking and steps creaking dangerously.
You couldn't see exactly where Jesper was pointing, "What am I looking for?"
Jesper rolled his eyes, moving your chin to make you look at the window he had in his sight.
"Oh."
Standing in the light was the lawyer you had been tailing, he was without his hat and coat, smothering a woman in robes.
"Kaz was right," Jesper mumbled, leaning back on the wall while you both watched.
"Kaz is always right," You replied, joining him against the wall. You would have to wait for a while before asking questions. It would be too suspicious to walk straight in after him.
Jesper looked you up and down, "Aren't you cold?"
You fixed him with a glare, "What do you think, Fahey?"
The sharpshooter chuckled.
"Why in Saint's name did Kaz have to give me a disguise without a coat," you grumbled, crossing your arms so you could tuck your fingers against your side for more warmth.
Jesper gave you a smirk, you knew what he was going to say before he did, "Because you look gorgeous, love."
You huffed, "I'll look less gorgeous when I'm frozen solid."
You and Jesper stayed until the crowds thinned and the lawyer made his way home for the night. You had snuck into the foyer of the building and learnt the woman's name from the mail, pinching one of the envelopes to give to Kaz. After that, there was nothing more to learn. You and Jesper had made the trek back through the barrel to the Slat. Jesper wrapped his arm around your shoulders as you wandered past the pleasure houses and dens. At this time of the night, men were drunk with pleasure and wine, boldened in their crude behaviour. They would stumble out of brothels with sickly grins and harass any woman who dared to walk alone. You quietly thanked Jesper as he held you close.
Entering the Slat, you made your way through the Dregs to where the crows were sitting. You fell into a chair next to Nina, tossing the mask onto the table and stealing a piece of her food.
Jesper joined Wylan in the booth, secretly leaching his heat off him.
"Well?"
You pulled the envelope you had stolen from your dress, ignoring the surprised looks from the rest of the Crows.
"That's where you hid it?" Jesper said as he watched you hand it over to Kaz.
You shrugged, "I didn't have pockets."
Nina grinned, knowing the struggle herself, "I do it all the time."
Matthias tried to hide how he choked on his drink, coughing dramatically. His face was turning bright red as everyone stared at him.
Kaz ignored the Fjerdan, focusing on the paper in his hand. "Did you have any trouble?"
"No," Jesper answered for you.
"Although next time I would like a disguise with a coat," You added, "My hands have never been so cold."
Kaz glanced from the paper to you for the first time, silently taking in how you were flexing your freezing fingers. He nodded once, then disappeared towards the stairwell.
The next morning you were surprised to find the Bastard of the Barrel at your door. He held a brown paper package in one hand, leaning on his cane with the other.
He handed the package to you, "For the job tonight."
"Thank you," You replied, staring down at the package slightly confused. Kaz let out a quiet hum in acknowledgement, then turned and walked away, his cane clicking as he made his way down the stairs.
Your curiosity got the better of you, and you closed the door and sat on your cot gently opening the paper. Neatly folded in the package was a pair of gloves, completely black like Kaz's. You were shocked, gently unfolding them to reveal the cuff's black embroidery.
Like your shadows.
You couldn't help the grin, slipping your fingers into the gloves and stretching your hands to feel how they reacted. They were almost perfectly fitted, just tight enough where they kept you warm but not so tight that you lost movement. You tried to keep the butterflies in you at bay; he brought me gloves.
Saints, if you couldn't keep your schoolgirl feelings at bay you'd be useless on the job.
When you climbed down the stairs to meet with the other crows, they all noticed your new gloves. It was impossible to hide anything from them.
Wylan grabbed your hand, looking at the small details, "These are new."
You rolled your eyes, pulling your hand back, "Can a girl not get new things?"
Wylan grinned, "Did you get them? Or were they a gift?"
"From a certain Mr Brekker?" Nina pressed, joining in on Wylans teasing.
"I have no idea what you idiots are talking about."
Tumblr media
Kaz had decisively paired you with him on the upcoming job. You had frowned and asked if you were better suited to help Matthias and Nina lay the trap, but he had simply ignored the suggestion.
You tried not to be frustrated, Kaz hardly ever explained himself to anyone, why would he do so for you?
So you followed along with him willingly. He was dressed in his usual sharp clothing. The tidy waistcoat and dress pants with his usual black coat. He ordered you to dress similarly, like a wealthy woman. So you put on the nicest skirt you owned, borrowing a white blouse from Nina and pulling your coat over it all. You wore the gloves Kaz had given you, trying not to overthink about what was probably a harmless gesture.
You stood to Kaz's right, watching the shadows around the square as you waited patiently for the lawyer to fall into Kaz's well-laid trap.
Wylan and Jesper would be somewhere beyond the square, watching your back in case anything went wrong.
"Do you like the gloves?" Kaz broke the silence.
It took you off guard, "Oh, uh, yes." You flexed your hands, "Thank you."
Kaz nodded, "I had them made by a fabrikator so they would not hinder your summoning."
So that's where he had slinked off to last night.
You had to compose yourself, biting your tongue to ground yourself. Kaz Brekker was not some crushing boy giving you his favour through a gift, it was no doubt a strategic move as part of his plan. Then why did the butterflies in your stomach refuse to cease?
Get a hold of yourself.
You brushed down your skirt, pretending to be distracted by making yourself look presentable rather than looking at the boy next to you.
Another few minutes passed and the lawyer came stomping around the corner into the square. He was joined by two other men, no doubt enforcers he had paid to protect him.
"Mister Herling."
The lawyer looked torn between being afraid and irritated, "Brekker."
When you first found work in the Barrel, you were surprised that everyone seemed to know who Kaz Brekker was. After a week in the pub, you heard almost every rumour that the barrel had spun about the bastard of the barrel. The whispers that barmaids told, Dirtyhands doesn't need a reason.
Herling looked the two of you up and down, "Your muscle, Dirtyhands?"
You smiled sweetly, "Is that so hard to believe?"
The man on Herlings left chucked, his eyes lingered on your body. You shuffled your feet, trying to hold back your disgust at the man. You spared a glance at Kaz, who had noticed but chosen to ignore the man. Instead, he lifted his cane and flexed his fingers, like a silent challenge.
The lawyer waved his hand, "What business?"
"You work for Geels," Kaz stated, "I need to get a message to him."
Herling's face morphed from passive annoyance to one of outrage, "What makes you think I would do that for a barrel rat like you?"
Kaz lifted one shoulder in a slight shrug, "Everyone has a price."
"You think you can bribe me?" Herling cried, clearly insulted and angered by Kaz's comment. "Respectable men do not take bribes."
"Good thing there are no respectable men here."
You held back a laugh, this was not the time to appreciate Kaz's dry humour.
Herling let out a noise, halfway between a growl and a huff. "You are a special kind of messed up, boy."
Kaz didn't seem at all phased, he calmly explained what he meant by 'price'. The women you and Jesper had learnt about last night, proof that Herling was not a respectable man and had something to offer unless he wanted his wife to know.
"I don't know who that is," Herling hissed, but he couldn't hide his panic.
Kaz stretched his fingers that held his cane, the leather of his gloves flexing with his fingers.
"The thing about the Lid," Kaz spoke, "Is that no one cares if people disappear. This is Ketterdam, after all, space is valuable."
Herling put it together, he stepped forward and raised his fist, "If you lay a hand-"
Kaz smacked his hand away with his cane, Herling recoiled, stepping back and cradling his hand like a child.
"Stop making empty threats, Herling, and start making deals."
Kaz struck a deal with the man and you both waited for him and his men to leave before turning and walking out of the square. As you both exited under the arch, Wylan and Jesper fell into step beside you.
"You think he'll follow through?" Wylan asked, his hands clutching the straps on his satchel.
Kaz didn't have to explain himself, "Yes."
As the four of you picked your way through the streets back towards the slat, you started to become aware of something moving in the shadows. You were so focused on the movements, you didn't even realize Nina and Matthias had joined your group.
Finally, you couldn't stand the feeling of being watched anymore. You stopped, turning around to search the street for the two figures you knew were around.
"Y/N?" Nina asked, standing next to you.
The others stopped a few steps ahead, frowning at you.
"Someone's out there," You said quietly to Nina. The heartrender reached out, searching for heartbeats to verify your feeling.
She frowned, turning back to the others, "Y/N's right."
Kaz joined you both, looking out over the silent streets. Kaz didn't have to say anything, two men came slinking out of the shadows to face him.
They were the same two men the lawyer had at his side, but now their sleeves were rolled up, guns in hand. You realized they weren't just paid goons, they were black tips.
"You don't know when to back off, Brekker," One of them hissed.
Kaz looked indifferent, "I could say the same for your boss."
One of the men cocked his pistol, pointing it at Nina, "Move your hands and you die, witch."
Nina rolled her eyes, holding her hands up dramatically.
Two more men drew out of the shadows to join the other Black Tips. They too held up guns.
One of them held his gun trained on Jesper and for good reason. Jesper would be able to get you all out of this with a spin of his pistols, with a gun trained on him he couldn't help anyone.
"No getting out of this."
You spared a glance at Nina, who stared back at you with a silent response. Don't do it.
You knew you shouldn't, Kaz would be able to get you out of this. He was at your side, so you turned to him. He had his scheming face, trying to put together a plan.
"Stadwatch?" You whispered.
"Probably paid off," Kaz replied.
You looked back to the four men, who were arguing over who would get to drag Kaz to the boss.
"Y/N," Kaz saw straight through you, "Don't."
You didn't have a choice, Kaz knew that.
Without dwelling on it too much, you reached out. You could feel the shadows bending to your will, they pulled towards you, amassing around your feet and climbing towards your hands. You drew your hands up in a loose arc when your hands were almost touching, and the shadows formed a loose line. The four men looked up, shocked silent at the view in front of them.
You raised one of your hands, then threw it down in a fast slash. Your shadows formed into a shape blade, reaching out and cutting all four men down. Although not the first time using the cut, it felt the same. A rush of exhilarating power, like nothing could stand in your way. Then there was the crushing pain like your body was trying to repel your powers. The feeling was always there after summoning, but it was mostly bearable, a sharp pain behind your eyes or a dull ache between your shoulders. The cut always took the most out of you, your mother had called it unnatural, merzost. No Grisha was supposed to have such power.
You watched the men's bodies fall, split cleanly in two. Then the pain was too much, you fell to your knees, gasping for breath.
Nina and Wylan were at your side instantly, Nina quietly reminding you to breathe as she held your hand tightly. She was paying close attention to your heart rate, it was beating so fast she could only wait for you to pass out. She pulled you close when you lost consciousness, your body going limp on the damp cobblestones.
Tumblr media
You were in and out of consciousness the whole walk back to the slat. Jesper and Matthias were holding you up, trying to make it look less suspicious than it would if they had you strawn over their shoulder. You could hardly keep your feet moving, Jesper and Matthias were mostly holding you up.
When you finally got back to the slat, Jesper dragged you to your room, a tiny sliver of space on the third floor. He lowered you to the bed, dropping you less than gently.
You were still consumed with pain, not sure of what was going on, "Thanks, babe." You muttered.
Jesper laughed, "You are very welcome, love."
Jesper left the room, letting Nina take his place at your side.
"Tell me what I can do to help," She pleaded, pained by seeing you in such a state.
"Nothing, Nina," You replied, letting out a sigh.
"Are you sure?" She tried again, gently brushing the hair off your feverish forehead.
"I'll be fine, Nina," You replied, "I just need to sleep it off."
Nina nodded, knowing she wouldn't be able to get much more from you. She stood and quietly left the room, passing Kaz in the hall.
Kaz lingered for a moment before stepping into the room. You could feel his presence, not bothering to open your eyes to see him.
"Boss."
When Kaz didn't reply you opened your eyes, looking at his face. He looked almost concerned, you wondered if you had imagined it in your state because as soon as you made eye contact the look was gone.
"You said that your abilities were your weakness," Kaz said after a long pause.
"And now you see why."
Another long pause.
Kaz nodded once, "Thank you."
You might have appreciated those words more if you hadn't been half asleep. Kaz never said thank you.
"Don't thank me," You said, "I need to be gone by this time tomorrow."
It didn't take a genius to see four bodies cut in half and know what it meant. Only one summoner could use the cut and by exposing yourself tonight you had no chance but to run.
"You don't have to," Kaz spoke so quietly you almost didn't hear him, "You could stay."
"If I stay," You replied, closing your eyes and covering your face with your arm, "I will be hunted, killed."
You could hear Kaz move, the click on his cane. He had stepped closer. "I won't let that happen."
The rational part of you knew that Kaz would be powerless to stop however came after you. But you were exhausted and slightly delirious, so the only thought that passed through your mind was, he wants to protect me.
"I guess I can stay," You drawled, finally losing the fight to unconsciousness.
The next morning when you woke up you were tucked under a blanket, your boots by the end of your bed and the gloves Kaz had given you folded neatly on the bedside table. You had the same butterflies, but this time it felt more real. You weren't imagining things, at least you had hoped you weren't. Surely that hadn't been some kind of terrible dream.
You needed to be sure, forcing your tired body to rise from the bed and slip on your shoes. You hesitated at the door, knowing climbing upstairs to Kaz's room in the attic would be gruelling. You forced yourself to do so anyway, taking the stairs slowly. When you reached the top, you felt lightheaded, your body betraying you after last night's show of power.
You knocked once on Kaz's door, entering after he allowed it. When you stepped in you had to reach for something to hold on to, your head swimming.
"You should be resting," Kaz spoke, watching you hold yourself up on the metal bedframe. He could see how pale you looked, your face was full of colour not long ago. He thought briefly about how he wished to see you back to yourself again. Then he was shutting that thought out of his mind.
"What you said last night-" You ignored Kaz's order, trying to stand a little taller and feign strength. Kaz could see through the cracks easily.
"Was the truth." Kaz stood, leaning on his cane as he got a little closer to you, worried that you might just keel over, "I won't let anyone hurt you."
Relief crashed over you, washing away some of the panic that had clouded your mind.
You and Kaz held each other's gaze for a while longer, content in the silent company of one another.
You knew you should rest, your body was screaming to sit or lie down. It would only follow your orders for so long. But you weren't sure you would make it down the stairs without falling, which would definitely make the pain in your head worse.
Kaz seemed to come to the same realization. He gently grabbed your arm, holding tight to your bicep to lead you to the side of his bed. He helped you sit, then returned to his spot at his desk. There was something unspoken, Kaz didn't have to tell you to stay because you could see the question in his eyes. You let out a small sigh, nodding and deciding to lie on Kaz's bed.
Kaz clearly didn't mind, his attention returning to his papers. You watched him work, taking in how his eyebrows furrowed as he read over reports and expenses. You hadn't realized until now that he wasn't wearing his gloves. His slender fingers flipped through the paper like a dealer would cards.
His hands are stained with blood.
What a ridiculous rumour to believe, you thought. Sitting at his desk before the morning light, he looked like any other businessman. An honest man with no worries about the harshness of this world. You didn't much care for honest men, because there were hardly any. You had done terrible things in your lifetime, last night had not been the first time you had killed and without a doubt, it would not be your last. You did not deserve an honest man. With the powers you held, no one could be fully trusted. You had known that your whole life.
But lying on Kaz's bed, watching him work, you were struck by something much scarier than starting to trust him. You were starting to feel safe.

Summary: (Y/n) takes Chris to the shop for their weekly magazine, but things take a bad turn when someone starts a hostage situation and the 118 arrives to save the day.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
"Come on then, cheeky boy." Reaching into the car, (Y/n) scooped Christopher up in her arms, gave him a little spin and set him down on his feet so he could grab the crutches that were waiting for him.
She carded her fingers through his wet locks and slung her bag on her shoulder. A smile lit up (Y/n)'s face when Chris started to speed ahead into the shop. Despite just finishing hydrotherapy which was a tiring hour for him, he was still full of energy and ready to go speeding round the shop.
Every Friday after school, (Y/n) would come to the school and join Chris for his hydro session in the small pool at the back of the school. It was a small rectangle pool but they booked it out every Friday so Chris could make use of it and he could be on his own with his parents when Eddie had the afternoons free to join them. Chris loved to splash around and play with the floats and it burned the last of his energy that he had for the day.
Now it was the second routine they had on a Friday afternoon, they went to the shop ten minutes away from home. Chris would choose the same chocolate bar, the animal farm one with different pictures and inscriptions on each one. And he would get a new Dino magazine that came out weekly on a Friday. They contained new miniature figures and fun facts and he could colour and cut out and make new things.
Chris liked (Y/n) to read the facts and stories to him in the evening and then on the Saturday he would spend all morning cutting out and colouring and doing the activities.
It was one of his favourite routines.
"Chocolate," Chris beamed up at (Y/n) when she caught him up and walked into the shop with him.
(Y/n) rested her hand on his back and nodded, following him past the fruit and veg and towards the back of the shop where the sweetie aisle was.
"I think daddy deserves one too, he's done a double shift."
"Yeah!" Chris grabbed two and handed them over, it made him feel special when Eddie would have a chocolate bar with him and they knew Eddie would be home early tonight. He had been on shift since yesterday afternoon so he was supposed to be home on time for tea if all went well.
(Y/n) followed a step behind him round the corner towards the next aisle where the magazines were and right where it always was on the front row was the blue and green magazine Chris always picked. She let him grab it and he juggled it along with his crutch and they dawdled down towards the checkout.
"Why aren't you fucking listening to me? Try it again,"
Frowning, (Y/n) curled an arm around Chris's shoulders and pulled him back into her chest as she stopped walking. She didn't want to go to the checkout with Chris if that man was going to start shouting, it would unsettle her son.
She watched the lady at the desk try his card again but when it didn't work, he slammed his hand down on the counter and threw the bottle of whiskey onto the floor. The glass shattered, the alcohol splashed like droplets of rain forming a puddle and when he shouted, (Y/n) reeled back.
Chris jumped in her arms, the smile instantly dropping from his face as he brought his hands up to cover his ears, holding the magazine tightly against his left ear in his panic.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? I'm not doing this shit, do it properly or I'll light this place up!"
Fear bolted through (Y/n)'s body and tingled down to her toes. The man got a lighter out of his pocket and despite how badly he was shaking, he held the lighter out as if he might either throw it on the alcohol on the floor or throw it on the lady at the checkout. He hadn't made up his mind and either prospect made (Y/n) choke.
Why today? Why did this idiot have to make a fuss today on all days? Why now when Chris was having his Friday routine did this idiot have to make a scene?
"Mummy,"
Reaching down, (Y/n) turned Chris around and let him burrow his face into her chest. He kept his hands covering his ears and (Y/n) tangled her hand into his curls to try and soothe him but she could feel him starting to tremble against her. Each time the man shouted, Chris jumped and shuddered and gasped until he finally screamed.
The scream vibrated through (Y/n)'s chest and shook her heart behind her ribs. She felt the magazine drop to the floor and Chris fought in her arms until he could flop down onto his knees and curl his chest over his legs with his arms pinned into his chest and his hands still over his ears. The crutches fell from his elbows and crashed to the floor with a clattering bang.
"Okay baby, shh, I'm here." (Y/n) went down on her knees in front of him and coiled her arms around him, trying to gently shush him but a fire lit up her eyes when she looked over at the man.
"What's he doing, what're you doing?"
"You're scaring him, what do you expect him to do?" She snapped back, unable to control her own anger. He couldn't expect the few people in the shop to be happy that he was causing a scene. "Baby come here, let's go home."
Reaching forward, (Y/n) curled her arms around Chris's chest and slowly pulled him up into her chest before she tried to stand. His legs hooked loosely around her waist and he tightly dug his arms into her neck until she could barely breathe. His breathing was laboured and harsh in the crook of her neck and he was about to start crying, she could feel it. But (Y/n) didn't get two steps before she stumbled back when the man threw a can of beer her way, narrowly missing her head.
"Stay where I can see you or I'll light this place up!"
Something inside (Y/n) told her to bolt. She could leave Chris's crutches here and the magazine and chocolate which were all on the floor. She could make a break for the exit with Chris in her arms and get in the car and go home. It wasn't worth the risk. As much as (Y/n) could run with her boy in her arms, that man was close and he could still start a fire or throw something else or hurt the cashier.
There was any number of things he could do and (Y/n) didn't want the risk, not unless it was a last resort.
But she didn't know how long Chris could stay here without having a full blown meltdown. Screaming was just the start and (Y/n) dreaded what else her son would do when panicked like this.
"Okay,"
(Y/n) nodded her head and slowly lowered herself down to her knees, still with Chris clinging to her front like a baby monkey. She gently shushed him and started to sway back and forth like when he was little and woke with nightmares. Her hand dug deep into his curls and she kissed his forehead repeatedly.
"Mummy, don't like it." His words were slurred around his thumb he was deeply biting down on, something he did when he was extremely happy or extremely unsettled.
"I know baby, we'll go home soon. I've got you," Shifting round, (Y/n) sat down on her bum, spread her legs out and kept Chris sitting on her lap. She could feel her legs beginning to burn and her lower back was starting to ache already but it didn't matter. What mattered was keeping Chris calm and safe, no matter what.
The stranger started to rant again but (Y/n) couldn't work out what he was saying, all she could hear was Chris whimpering into her neck and her heartbeat thudding rapidly in her ears.
Each can of beer the man threw made (Y/n) jerk and jump but when she watched the man throw down another bottle of whiskey just past the checkout near the window, fright took over her. He leaned down and set the alcohol alight with his lighter and jumped back to stop himself from getting lit up too.
This was bad.
With one arm still around Chris's waist and his face tucked into her neck- thankfully looking behind her so he couldn't see anything happening- (Y/n) dug around in her pocket. She fished her phone out and scrolled down to Eddie's contact. This was going to be hard.
"Ola mi amor, how are you? Did hydro go okay?" It was a relief to hear Eddie's voice after only two rings. Part of (Y/n) was afraid he would already be out on a call and wouldn't be able to answer and if she rang 911 they might think she was pranking them and hang up on her.
"Shh baby, good boy, everything will be okay." (Y/n) buried her nose and mouth into Chris's shoulder and kept her trembling hand between their merged chests. She had to have the phone close enough to speak and just about hear Eddie's voice on the other end but she couldn't let the stranger see in case it infuriated him or made him set another fire.
"(Y/n) what's wrong? Is Chris having a meltdown?" The panic was evident in Eddie's voice when his tone dropped an octave and a sterness overtook him.
"Hm,"
"Mi Amor why aren't you talking to me, is something happening?" Eddie reached his hand out and grabbed Bobby's arm, stopping him from walking past.
He'd never had (Y/n) ring him up like this before. If something was wrong she would always talk to him right away, she would rant and rave if something happened. She would panic or get upset if something was bothering her or Chris and if their son was particularly upset she would hand Chris the phone so Eddie could calm him down and talk to him. She always spoke when he answered, she wasn't giving clear answers right now and it was unnerving.
"Yes, baby."
Fear struck Eddie's heart and he pressed the phone tighter to his ear while simultaneously gripping Bobby's arm in a tighter grip.
"Where are you?" Eddie glanced at his watch strapped to his wrist and racked his brain. "Fuck, hydro's finished so… so are you at the store with Chris, for his book and chocolate?"
Eddie had all of Chris's routines memorised, each day was planned and specified because routines kept Chris happy and in order. He liked structure and if something had to change, they had to sit him down and explain what and why and make sure something else was in place for him. It made him feel calm to know what he was doing.
They had meal plans each week so Chris knew what he was eating each day, they had structures for shopping and only on a Saturday night would Chris ever try and watch a new movie. Every other day he stuck to the same Disney and cartoon movies he knew and liked.
Eddie knew by this time hydro was done and finished and they should be on their way home from the shop with his magazine and usual animal chocolate.
"Hm, yeah."
"Daddy?" Chris started to drool onto his hand and the back of (Y/n)'s shirt but she didn't care. She continued to smooth her free hand up and down his back.
"Shh, we need to stay quiet baby. We'll see daddy soon." She couldn't have Chris trying to talk to Eddie or she would have to hang up. The man couldn't know, if he knew she was calling someone, much less a firefighter, he would get manic.
"Mi amor," Eddie paused, gulped and took a shakey breath, "Are you being threatened or held hostage in the store?"
"That's right baby, we'll see daddy soon."
Bile rose in the back of Eddie's throat and he stumbled forward until Bobby held an arm out around his chest and hoisted him back up.
Oh God.
His family, his wife and son, they were being held hostage in the store. Chris had never been in a situation like this before. He had never been forced to stay somewhere or had his safety threatened. He didn't even watch movies about hostages or guns or violence, Chris wouldn't know what it meant or what was going on.
"We're coming, we'll be there soon mi amor I swear-"
"Who the fuck are you talking to? Why are you spouting shit?"
(Y/n) held the phone closer to her chest and continued to rock back and forth. This was going to give her a chance to speak a bit more freely to Eddie before she hung up. He knew what shop they always went to on a Friday, he had been part of this routine thousands of times each week. Eddie could get the team down here and help them out.
"I'm talking to my son, I told you you're frightening him."
"Stop talking-"
"Then let us leave, let me take him out of here-"
"No one's fucking leaving! This place will go up in flames if you keep testing me, bitch."
"Daddy! I want daddy. Home. Home. Home!"
Terror struck Eddie's heart when (Y/n) hung up on him. Why did he have to be on shift today? Why couldn't he of had today off and worked last Friday or next Friday instead? Anything to be there with his family right now. He could try and descale the argument and calm down the person threatening his family. He could of tried to get them out of there and keep them safe and make sure Chris wasn't going into a meltdown and (Y/n) wasn't panicked.
"(Y/n)…? (Y/n)! Fuck!!" Eddie let his weight drop onto Bobby as his vision blurred with tears and his head started to fill up with air.
They had to get down there. Now.
***
Closing her eyes, (Y/n) buried her nose in Chris's curls and tried to hum quietly in his ear but it didn't do anything to calm him down. If anything, she could feel his panic rising until he started to cry and he was itching to move in her arms. He kept his arms bound tight around (Y/n)'s neck like he was trying to strangle her but his legs kicked out against her hips and he squirmed until (Y/n) had to pin both arms around his waist as tight as she had ever done.
She couldn't have him try and fight his way out of her arms, she had to keep hold of him in case she had to make a break for it and run out of here. Chris wouldn't be able to run or hurry even with his crutches. (Y/n) had to be ready.
"Daddy. Home. Go Home!"
A tremor ran down (Y/n)'s spine when Chris slammed his hand down on her back and made her wince. He wasn't trying to hurt her, he was panicking and he didn't know what to do or how to make everything stop. He wanted his chocolate, his magazine and to be back at home without anything bad happening.
He wanted to be home with his parents, not stuck in a shop with people shouting and crying.
"Daddy's coming here to get us, he should be here soon baby," She continued to rock him back and forth despite how badly he was thrashing around in her arms.
"I want d-"
Chris shuddered and gasped in (Y/n)'s arms when the distant sound of a fire engine rattled the store and got closer. The team had gotten here, Eddie had gotten to them as fast as he could. They were going to get everyone out.
The siren continued to blaze which alerted the man that someone was going to come in and ruin whatever plan he had concocted. His violent shouts, the siren and the sudden blaring fire alarm in the store all became too much for Chris who started to scream at the top of his lungs. He chomped his teeth down on the side of his hand and smashed his forehead into (Y/n)'s shoulder as if he wanted to smother himself to make everything stop.
The action sent (Y/n) tumbling backwards into a shelf and her arms momentairely let go of Chris to cradle the back of her head.
A split second was all Chris needed to scramble out of his mum's arms and shuffle away. He felt like he had tunnel vision, all he could see was the door where he knew his dad and the team would be waiting for them. He wanted Eddie, he wanted uncle Buck and Bobby to get him and take him and his mum home. He wanted to be out of here now.
"Christopher!"
Rolling onto her stomach, (Y/n) scraped her knees on the floor to try and get to her feet and grab him when she saw the assailant bolt towards them.
There was only a split second for (Y/n) to decide what to do and in that moment, she hooked her hands under Chris's arms, hoisted him up off his feet and bolted towards the door.
"Cap I have to get in there-"
"We can't risk running in blind we don't know if he's holding them hostage, if he had a weapon or if he's hurt anyone."
"That's my family! He was threatening to light the place up!" Eddie slammed his fist into the side of the truck, relishing in the burn it ignited in his knuckles and how it caused his nerves to flare.
He had to get in that store now, he had to go in and get his family out and keep them safe, that was his job. Eddie's job was to protect people and keep them safe and if he couldn't protect his family, he shouldn't be doing this job. (Y/n) had called him, she had been desperate for help and Eddie had to do something about this situation.
"Someone's coming out," Hen dug her hand into Eddie's shoulder and pointed towards the entrance to the shop when the automatic doors opened.
"Eddie!"
His head snapped to the left in time to see his wife running out with Christopher in her arms. But right on her tail was a man with vengence in his eyes, fury on his face and his arms stretched out towards her.
Both Eddie and Buck set off into a run but their paces faltered when they watched the stranger grab a fistful of (Y/n)'s hair and yank her backwards forcefully. A strangled sound left her lips and she tilted Chris forward to give him a shove towards the team to get him safe.
The eight year old stumbled forward, tripped over his feet and went down on his knees. He pressed his palms back over his ears, screamed as loud as his lungs would allow and curved his chest down over his knees with his head pressed into his legs to hide himself away and become as small as possible. He was out, he wanted Eddie and he wanted to get in the car and go home, whatever was happening wasn't fun and he wanted it to stop.
"I got you, come here buddy." Buck reached down and scooped Chris up before he backtracked towards Chimney who was waiting uncertainly by the ambulance. He needed Chris as far away from the scene as possible and he had to check if he had any injuries.
"Get off! E-Eddie…"
(Y/n) reached behind her to try and grab the wrist that was tangled up in her hair and in a frantic panic, she waved her left arm to try and either hit him or get some leverage and add some distance between them. His hold was strong and the force he yanked her back with caused her to stumble down to her knees.
She couldn't help but scream when he slammed her head into the side of the door and tried his best to drag her back into the burning shop by her hair. Her head started to thud and everything turned and spun on its axis around her.
A pitiful howl left her lips when she felt his lighter scrape down her left arm from her elbow to her wrist and the flame licked and fizzed against her skin. She dug her nails into his face and screamed, digging her heels into the floor to try and stop him from moving her any further.
She could feel Eddie's name on the tip of her tongue until she managed to open her blurry eyes and saw him heading straight for her. She barely got to focus her vision before Eddie was lunging.
His elbow flew into the man's nose earning a successful snap and when his head shot back, Eddie grabbed his wrist and twisted it round so he dropped the lighter that had burned his wife. As swift as anything, Eddie dropped the left side of his body and pummeled his shoulder into the man's chest and took him down to the ground.
He pinned his knee down on the man's groin and curled his fingers into his palm, smashing his already bruised knuckles into the man's face causing blood to splatter across the gleaming white floor.
He wanted to keep going.
Eddie wanted to smash his fist into the man's face until the flesh tore apart and the bones were exposed. He wanted to pin him down and light up his skin like he'd just done to (Y/n) and drag him closer to the flames by the roots of his hair. Eddie wanted to frighten him and punish him and pummel him for terrorising his family like that.
His son was screaming and his wife had been attacked; Eddie wasn't going to let that lie.
"Eddie- hey, that's enough!"
"Let him burn!" Eddie's chest heaved beneath his shirt that he had been sweating through since he received (Y/n)'s phone call. His arms shook and tensed up and he fought with Hen and Bobby when they grabbed an arm each and dragged him backwards until he was level with (Y/n) who was doing her best to sit up.
They should evacuate any other people in the shop and leave him to be engulfed by the flames. He shouldn't be able to get out, he needed to sit and dwell and inhale the smoke he had started. He shouldn't get priority for anything.
"Get off," He huffed breathlessly and wrenched his arms free from their hold so he could collapse down on his knees in front of his wife.
He wasn't sure whether it was the smoke, the terror of the event or the relief of seeing his family relatively unharmed that made Eddie cry, but the tears drenched his face and he didn't bother to wipe them away.
(Y/n) curled her shaking arms around Eddie's neck and burrowed her face into his neck, hiccuping into his skin when he bound his arms around her and pulled her back into his lap. His face tucked into her hair and he closed his eyes, inhaling her scent to try and calm himself down but a storm was raging inside of him and his heart was working overtime until he was sure he was about to have a heart attack.
"Mi amor," His tone changed, became softer with a gentle edge and he nuzzled his nose into her hair so he could press multiple kisses against the side of her head.
"Eddie…" (Y/n) wasn't sure what she wanted to say, but she didn't have to say anything. She moved her shaking hand up from his neck to cup his face and bring him down for a tear stained kiss. "W-where's Chris?"
"Buck's got him, he's safe. Come here,"
Moving his hands down from her waist, Eddie cupped the back of her thighs and swiftly pulled her until her pelvis bumped into his groin. He curved her legs around his hips and kissed her again while his fingertips dug into the soft flesh of her thighs and he lifted her up with him. He stood up with (Y/n) clinging to his front and her lips glued to his jaw, something she knew would instantly calm him down.
He turned around and made his way over to the ambulance where he could see Buck. His friend was stood in front of the ambulance, a soft smile on his face and Christopher in his arms who was curled up into his chest, calmly biting his thumb.
Eddie carefully sat (Y/n) down on the edge of the ambulance and stood between her legs, feeling the heels of her feet pressing softly into his lower back just above his bum.
He reeled his arms back and reached out for (Y/n)'s left arm and gently squeezed her hand while he held her arm out in front of him for inspection. A light burn ran up the inside of her arm from her elbow down near her wrist, but it wasn't deep her extensive enough to need medical treatment. Cream and bandages would do just fine to make it blister and heal up in a week or so.
A small burn and a bash to the head was the best outcome Eddie could of asked for when he had fretted they would have smoke inhalation, loss of consciousness. He imagined bullet wounds, broken bones, third degree burns, the lot. Anything and everything ran through his mind when he thought about what could have happened with his family.
"Are you okay, buddy?" Eddie brushed his thumb across Chris's cheek when Buck gently sat him down on the ambulance next to (Y/n).
"Just a scrape on his knee, he'll be alright."
"Home," When Chris saw (Y/n) lean forward and bury her face into Eddie's chest, Chris pushed forward and wrapped his arm around his dad's leg. He pressed his chin into Eddie's thigh and tilted his head up so he could look up at him.
He wanted to go home now. He wanted Eddie to take them home and for this day to be over.
"Yeah, I'm gonna take you both home now."
Clark has accepted what it means to be Lex's prisoner - the pain of the Green, the experiments, the hands on it. The long years buried in its containment cell, let out only to act as Lex's weapon, as Lex's tool. It had fought back at first, but years have ground it down and away to almost nothing.
Then Lex hands it a baby. And Clark realizes that while it may have hurt humans, and lied about what it is, and it may deserve to be locked away - Kon deserves to be free.
The Absolutely True Story of the Yiling Patriarch: A Manifesto in Many Parts by aubreyli (+ podfic)
Wei Wuxian’s hand jolts, spilling a drop of wine onto the tabletop. “Love?” he croaks, then clears his throat and tries again. “Lan Zh— uh, Hanguang-jun, in love?”
“Have you not heard the story?” the other young woman asks, looking pitying. “You must, it is a truly heartrending tale of star-crossed romance and mutual pining — go to any storyhouse in town, everyone has been requesting a reading of this book.”
“There’s a book?” Wei Wuxian says blankly.
-- In which the junior disciples (namely, Lan Jingyi, Ouyang Zizhen, and a reluctant Lan Sizhui) turn to RPF in an attempt to rehabilitate Wei Wuxian's reputation so that he and Hanguang-jun can get together and get married and live happily ever after. It's... surprisingly effective.
Clone Wars
Funerary practices? Master Ti writes back. I’m not sure what you mean, Master Kenobi. Used biomass is the property of Kamino and thus is recycled into the cloning process.
So that’s how the revolution begins—with dead brothers, but not the way you might expect.
Miraculous Ladybug
drowning (in plain sight) by buggachat
Everybody had expected Monarch's defeat to be a moment of triumph. Nobody had expected Gabriel Agreste, unmasked and mind frayed from continual abuse of the miraculous, crying out to all who would listen and making Paris certain of one thing:
His son, Adrien Agreste, is one of his sentimonsters.
And now he's missing.
Nobody can find him— not even the superheroes, and not even his closest friends. But Marinette, Nino, and Alya aren't ones to give up so easily. They'll find him, no matter what it takes.
(But, geez, would it kill Chat Noir to lend a hand?)
Once again on my knees requesting a follow up where frat Jessie goes to see the reader working their shift at the bar to flirt and distract them while they’re working
I did think of this and I was like hmmm I'm not sure but you have convinced me. so here is frat boy Jessie part 2
Tumblr media
plot: it's been a week since the college party and three days since your dinner date with jessie and now you have a shift at your club for bartending
warnings: suggestive, ass grabbing, homophobia (idk if I'll do smut cause not sure if I'm comfortable writing it yet but we'll see) I'm back, yeah a little bit of smut. kinda public, reader went commando today
Tumblr media
You looked at yourself in the changing room of your work, your shorts were so short you felt your ass peeking out and your bum bag was almost longer than them. It was saint Patrick's day so your work had decided to change up the uniform for the day, instead of the usual black attire you sported green sparkly shorts with matching dark green fishnets and a whit singlet that was cut in the middle with a four-leaf clover on your left boob.
Let's also mention the leprechaun hat you sported with your hair in two plaits.
You saw another co-worker walk in to start their shift when they stopped and looked at you "that's what we're wearing tonight?" she asked with a smirk "at least it's better than Halloween" you shrugged before making sure you had a pen and paper in your bum bag.
You don't usually work weekends but you had a week off volleyball and your best friend Morgan asked if you could somehow be out of the dorm so she could spend time with her boyfriend, you agreed and now you were hear reading the recipe for a 'lucky charm' cocktail that was only on for the night.
It was a busier night than usual, boys from your school coming in to hang out, some of them noticed you but didn't comment, others were too drunk to notice.
It wasn't until 10 that someone started some trouble.
"Hey little lady" a mans voice popped up from behind you as you rolled your eyes but turned around with a fake smile, he looked about 50 "what can I get you sir" you said "Can I get you" he smirked and you had to stop yourself from laughing "unfortunately us workers aren't up for sale, can I offer you something else," you said, pointing at the menu
You had been through this many times before.
"what about some money would that change your mind?"
"She said no you fucking pervert!" a voice called out to him, a voice that you had become familiar with.
"Is that so, cause she was smiling at me-"
"It's called service with a smile, not an invitation to get into my pants" you cut him off "now fuck off before I call security" you said before you looked at Jessie who was to busy looking at you already.
"You fucking lesbians always think you have control over us men" the man grumbled and you laughed "Josh!" you yelled out to your security man who walked over.
"Is there a problem?" he asked and you watched the man cowardly walk away as you pointed at Jessie to join you at the other side of the bar.
"Wow," she stated "What?" you asked "I'm not sure what's hotter right now that outfit or how you shut that fucker up" She smiled.
"How'd you know I was working?" you asked as you dried beer bottles, "Morgan told me" "Of course she did" you laughed "You glad I'm here?" Jessie asked you as you blushed "I think the way I'm seeing you stare at my ass whenever I turn around gives me the impression that you're very happy to be here"
"I will say I am enjoying the view" she said with a smirk.
A customer came in and you excused yourself to take his order as Jessie watched you from her seat, her grip on her glass tightning when she saw his stare on you.
When you returned you looked at Jessie "Hey your knuckles are white, I don't want to clean a broken glass tonight" you joked as her grip loosened "do all the customers look at you like that?" Jessie asked with a stern face.
"Jealousy is not a good look on you Fleming" you teased "Ha Ha" she fake laughed "What time do you finish?" she asked "An hour but I have a designated 'toilet break' in about 15 minutes," you said and her eyes brightened.
"So I can get you alone in a bathroom whilst you are in that outfit?" Jessie smiled like the cherished cat as you took away her drink "Not with your breath smelling like beer"
"that wasn't a no"
"You are distracting me at my work" you told her and she looked proud "Do I distract you y/n" she whispered going closer to you which made your cheeks redden.
"Y/n!" your boss's voice called out "Yeah" you replied "Toilet break Kenz will take over," he said before disappearing into his office again.
You placed your bum bag down behind the counter before walking past the bar and looking back at Jessie "you coming?" you asked with a small smirk and the soccer player scrambled off her seat to follow you.
When you walked back into the changing room you showed Jessie your little wardrobe "This is hot" she admitted as she looked at some of the outfits "You should see valentines day" you snorted at yourself as you watched her scavenge for it.
"Jessie" you called out to her as she just nodded her head, looking through your work clothes "Jessie" you called again as you sat on the couch behind the curtain "what?" she asked looking down at you.
She couldn't help her eyes for going straight to your cleavage as you looked up at her "Are you going to kiss me or what?"
"Oh fuck yeah I'm going to kiss you" Jessie whispered out to herself before joining you on the couch and grabbing your waist to sit on top of her.
Your bare legs rubbing against her jeans as her hands found a comfortable place on your ass is what made her smile "I knew coming here would be a great idea" she smiled "I'm in heaven" she joked as you looked behind you "wait" you told her as you got up
"Nooooo, don't stop heaven"
"I'm just closing the curtain so nobody see's us"
"let them see" Jessie shrugged "so they can know what's going to be mine"
"I think a few more dates until that happens Fleming," you said as you closed the curtain "but I do like your forwardness "Yeah?" Jessie questioned with a smirk and you couldn't help but fold at her words "Oh yeah, I'm free real estate at the moment until proven otherwise" you teased.
This made something in Jessies stomach turn "come here" she ordered as you sat back down on her lap "free real estate huh?" she questioned and you nodded, You felt her grasp on your ass tighter, leaving marks before looking at you and kissing you.
It didn't start slowly like it did at the end of your first date, no this time it was harsher and you loved it, from seeing Jessie so jealous from one look of a guy you wanted to test the waters.
And test it you did as you felt one of Jessie's hands pull you closer to her and create friction which you moaned quitely at giving Jessie dominance at the kiss "Do it again" she ordered before sloppily kissing down your neck "What again?" you asked and she rocked your body up and down her again, creating more friction.
You did as she said and grinded against her without her help as her nails dug into your ass with her denim grinding against your thin layers you couldn't help your quiet moans from coming out your mouth.
"Just like that" Jessie said as she nibbled at your neck, you reached your head back at the action as yo found yourself riding on the girls jeans quicker as you grew hotter and hotter.
"Jessie" you breathed out into her ear "Yeah baby" she says "Touch me" you mutter "Touch you where?" she asked and you buried your neck into her shoulder "down there" you mumbled
"be more specific baby" she teased you as you groaned, she gripped your ass so tight that you couldn't move anymore, you couldn't stand it, you wanted her.
"fuck Jessie" you muttered "What was that?" she asked as she gave you another hint of friction "Touch my pussy Jessie" you told her which she smiled at
"Only cause you asked so nicely" she smirked and you wished you had the power to humble her a bit, but right now you liked it as she placed you down on the couch and spread your legs apart for you.
You held eye contact the entire time as she lowered onto her knee's "you sure?" she asked and you nodded. You didn't even care that you were at your workplace any more, you just wanted Jessie.
You still held eye contact as she rolled your shorts down only to reveal you wore no panties which she raised her brows at "I don't like having undie line" you defended yourself as you watched Jessie try and figure out what to do with your fishnets, with no thought she ripped them from the middle and out, giving her easy access.
You felt the cool air hit you as you rolled your head back "Patience" Jessie laughed before leaning up and kissing you again but she kissed from your lips to your stomach and now a soft kiss to your clit that made a moan escape your lips, she smiled at your reaction before licking your folds slowly
"I know you said patience Jessie but we don't have a lot of time" you reminded her as she smiled at you "Okay"
You gripped onto the edge of the couch in pleasure before she entered a finger inside of you whilst licking at your clit "Oh fuck me" you muttered out as you felt Jessie smile against your clit as she added a second finger.
You felt yourself growing closer and closer as Jessie sped up "Jessie" you moaned out as you reached out your hand to grab her pony tail. She felt you clench around her fingers as she lifted her head up "you gonna cum?" she asked as you nodded
"I'm gonna cum Jessie" you moaned as continued to somehow go faster "Then cum for me" she ordered as you rolled your head back and let go, Jessie slowed down as she let you ride out your high before taking her fingers out and sucking them herself and then pointing them to you "suck them," she said before you did.
"kiss me" you told the soccer girl who came up to you and pulled you in by your chin to kiss her, you could taste yourself on her lips which you loved.
"Y/n toilet break over!" Kenzie yelled out from the door "yep be there in a sec just getting changed!" you answered back as you and Jessie tried not to laugh "If that was ten seconds earlier she would've heard you moaning out my name, did I make you feel good?" she asked and you nodded, grabbing your shorts from the floor.
"You wait here till my shift ends and I'll make you feel good too" you promised her with a kiss on the lips "I'll be waiting" Jessie smiled as she watched you open the curtain and walk out the room, Jessie quickly slapping your ass as you walked by.
"Jessie!"
Idea:
hero broke their arm, and is now trapped in their bathroom trying to bathe (only lit by candles because light went out) when Villian (their roommate) comes looking for them and then help them in bathing and wearing clothes afterwards
Just some hurt comfort please.. No teasing, just them basking in each other's comfort
"You know you can ask me whenever you need my help, right?" The villain helped them into the bathtub, one hand on the hero's waist and the other holding their hand. They had never thought the hero would be their roommate. But the city was big and apartments were expensive.
The villain couldn't move and the hero couldn't either. And somewhere along the way, the hero - despite their hatred - had decided not to report them to the police. Maybe it was pity, maybe compassion. The villain wasn't sure yet.
"So you can break more of my bones?" the hero asked quietly.
"I didn't break your arm," the villain said. They let go of the hero and sat down next to the bathtub, eyes glued to the ground. It was difficult, the villain had to admit. The hero was a horrible roommate, trying to make the villain's life as miserable as possible. Never cleaning up, bringing over random people, listening to loud music, ignoring them all the time.
Of course, the villain didn't blame them. They were enemies. But they didn't want this.
"You have broken much more than just my bones." The villain closed their eyes. Did the hero not know that this was the exact reason why the villain couldn't sleep? Why they had developed several questionable methods of distraction?
God, the villain knew they were no saint. They worked with dangerous people, built dangerous stuff. They could barely live with themselves.
"I know, I'm sorry. I just really need the money," they whispered. Shame had become a companion. The villain wasn't quite sure if they could ever get used to it. "I don't mean to be...violent."
"That doesn't give you the right to bite," the hero answered and the villain was quiet for a long time. The hero didn't look at them. Their eyes stared into the water, the broken arm - still blue and green - put onto the edge of the bathtub and their legs pulled against their chest. They could've put their chin on their knees but the hero hadn't done that.
Their body was decorated with scars, each an individual and unwanted present for the hero. Usually, the villain covered their own scars and they knew the hero did that, too. So, it was the first time the villain saw them like this. And for the first time, they didn't see scars as something disgusting. They wanted to stretch out their arm and trace the large scar on the hero's back. But they didn't do that.
"I know. I'm scared...I'm sorry." Slowly, the hero's gaze softened and they looked at their nemesis, somewhat pitiful.
"Why are you kind to me?" the hero asked. "Why aren't you trying to murder me here?"
"I really do it just for the money and you pay half the rent." It was an attempted joke and to the villain's surprise, their enemy smiled.
"We both know you're not kind out of convenience. I haven't seen you out there in months but I have seen the bloody bathroom or the open window at night. You're still out there, you're still fighting. But you're avoiding me," the hero said.
"Well, it is strange to break your bones now. I got to know you. I know your coffee order, I know your favourite food. I know your favourite movies and your favourite books. I know when you go to bed or when you wake up."
"Still, I wasn't kind to you," the hero said. Their cheeks were glowing, maybe out of embarrassment, maybe because the bath was hot.
"I can't blame you. I get attached to people too easily." It was the truth. Every time, the villain fell in love with their best friends. They couldn't help it. Being around someone their age was like a curse. Whether that person was good to them or not, the villain fell for them eventually within weeks. They loved like a dog. But the hero did not need to know that. "I don't want you to hate me."
"I'm sorry," the hero said. "When I was being rude, I didn't see the person, I just saw my enemy. Maybe I am the one who has to learn not to bite."
They reached for the villain's shoulder.
"Maybe some peace will be good," the hero said gently. "Maybe we could become friends."
The villain was doomed. They would lose this relationship too.
Have a fashion show using her parents' clothes
Sleep with all of their stuffed animals so they don't get lonely
Treat the masjid shoe racks as their own personal shoe store
Have an imaginary friend
Tallulah, Ramón, & Pomme
Tumblr media
Tying for 5th, with 4/62 polls won each, I'm very happy to see Pomme winning her first ever polls! And a total of 4 of them, no less! Tallulah has been voted most likely to:
Try and dye her own hair (making a huge mess)
Fit the main character role in "Coraline"
Perform Tarot card readings
Catch bees to pet them
Ramón has been voted most likely to:
Be obsessed with cowboys and the Wild West
Race to recalibrate the SmartBoard at school
Have a space hyperfixation and want to be an astronaut
And Pomme has been voted most likely to:
Be a monster at PaintBall
Hyperfixate on Splatoon
Be very meticulous while coloring in a coloring book
Write a book
I think there's a pattern with that last one.
Leonarda
Tumblr media
With 3/62 polls won, Leonarda has been voted most likely to:
Be obsessed with Power Rangers
Be into ice skating
Read every single Warrior cats books
I don't have anything funny to say here, It's hard to pay attention while listening to Ze Frank talk about coral kkkkkkkk
Empanada
Tumblr media
With 2/62 polls won, Empanada has been voted most likely to:
Spend recess burying herself in woodchips and sleeping
Have Batik as a hobby
Oh hey, it's the first time Empanada's gone a full month without winning a poll about sweets!
Chunsik
Tumblr media
Finally, our youngest has won a poll! With 1/62 polls won, Chunsik has been voted most likely to:
Be exempt from a Federation experiment because he politely declines it
What a polite kid!
...
...
That's it, right? That's all the eggs. All 11 eggs, all 62 polls for the month of March
...
Why does my clipboard say I'm missing two polls.....
...
Oh! Yes!
Juanaflippa & Bobby
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In an absolutely unprecedented event, Juanaflippa AND Bobby have become our first ever dead eggs to win a canonical poll, with 1/62 win each! Juanaflippa has been voted most likely to:
Have a million allergies during the spring
And Bobby has been voted most likely to:
Get BANNED from playing Bulldog
It's still insane to me that you all managed to get these two a win. Bobby was going up against RICHARLYSON for void's sake. You all were fighting against the current on that one.
See you all soon!
2023 Fall Anime
This is honestly a loaded season full of new shows based on relatively new manga. Lots to look forward to
Tumblr media
Spy x Family - Season 2 One of the most fun SJ series that have come out in a while. Season 1 was killer, high hopes for season 2.
Tumblr media
Goblin Slayer 2 I didn't realize they were even making a second season. This was such a killer series. I'm really hoping they don't fall into the many mid-tier fantasy tropes out there in anime right now. I thought the appeal of the show was really Goblin Slayer himself and less about the lackeys along the way. So we'll see how it goes.
Tumblr media
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End This is definitely one of my highly anticipated series. It's about an elf who was part of the Hero's party and her life after he dies. (Since elves live longer) Definitely a darker take on fantasy but has some really solid fantasy and adventure vibes.
Tumblr media
Rising of the Shield Hero - Season 3 Season 2 was pretty disappointing and slow. While this looks like it'll be more fast paced, it does look like a tournament arc of sorts. I know some aren't a fan of that kind of arc, but honestly I think it's exactly what this series needs to pick things up again. We'll see.
Tumblr media
The Faraway Paladin - Season 2 This was legitimately one of my favourite fantasy series. I thought it was really well written and didn't rush things like other series. I'm looking forward to this season.
Sequels/Continuations: Eminence in Shadow - Season 2 killer series with an anti-hero main character. Definitely worth checking out. After-School Hanako-Kun Hanako-kun spin off Dr. Stone Season 3 - Part 2 One of the best novel concept series with nothing else in it's genre to compare to. Definitely didn't drop the ball on the recent seasons and still worth watching. Dead Mount Death Play - Part 2 One that I didn't particularly enjoy, but has a decent sized manga following. Tokyo Revengers - Tenjiku Arc The continuation of the series. Might be just me but it feels like the series fell off after the first season. The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent - Season 2 A more mature take on fantasy isekai that just started to get into romance at the end of last season. A solid combo of shoujo genres. The Ancient Magus' Bride - Season 2 Part 2 One that I haven't had a change to check out yet but have only heard good things about. Hypnosismic - Season 2 a weirdly addictive musical/rap series. Unique characters and honestly solid rap battles. One I'll be enjoying. -- Related - Paradox Live - Music battle with what looks to be the same style of animation and solid character design. Definitely worth looking at if you're a fan of Hypmic. The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse A sequel of SDS. Looks like it could be a fun watch for the fans of the series. New:
Tumblr media
Shangri La Frontier A new manga fantasy series. This may be a horrible way to describe but it is what it is - a new age SAO- full dive fantasy game. A gamer who only plays shit games, gets into a new massively popular MMORPG and is op. One that I'm excited for because it ticks all the fantasy game boxes I like.
Tumblr media
Undead Unluck A relatively new manga series that gained a lot of traction in the last year or two. A gory action comedy that's super chaotic and a lot of fun.
Tumblr media
Shy Brand new hero manga series about a shy girl and her anxieties and struggles going into the hero world who grows and gains confidence as she becomes a better hero.
Tumblr media
Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions This is a manga series that I have kept forgetting the name of so never got a chance to read but all the covers for the manga look phenomenal. Likely the anime doesn't do him justice but it is what it is. Essentially sherlock in anime form. A PI with issues and the wholesome police detective work together to solve crime. Other New Series: Green - Fantasy Pink - Romance Red - Action Purple - Drama The Kingdoms of Ruins A world where witches were hunted down by humans as science surpassed magic. A kid who was raised by a witch swears revenge on mankind. This honestly looks solid. The animations are very cool looking and the mc seems to be an anti-hero. Will be looking at this one. Under Ninja A well known manga series about modern ninjas. Definitely a unique series for this season. The Apothecary Diaries A historical medical mystery show. I've heard the name before and I've also only heard good things. Will be worth a watch. A Girl & Her Guard Dog The granddaughter of a crime syndicate goes to highschool out of town and the current young boss lies his way into the same school. Would be cute romance if it weren't for the fact she's 15 and he's 26.. Butareba - The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig What the title says. A girl finds him and the story goes from there. I'm Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness The usual light novel title. Honestly, doesn't seem as yikes as I initially thought, might just be harmless breaking the rules kinda thing. Could be fun, also a Capybara that strikes fear into people's hearts. My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer Looks like a wholesome series where an adventurer finds a baby, raises it and she becomes so strong she's busy working all the time. Just a cute father daughter relationship in a fantasy setting about her wanting to come take time to see him but being caught up in OP fantasy battles. Ragna Crimson Dragons vs Humanity - a human and a dragon team up to destroy all the dragons. Action fantasy series. Berserk of Gluttony I honestly added this because I thought it was hilarious. Looks like a combo of knock offs - the Gluttony skill from Tensura (reincarnated as a slime) and the mc being called Fate with the main girl who looks exactly like Sabre. I'll be skipping but its' here so you know.
AGSZC learn about the fact you can pinch people if they aren’t wearing Green on March 17th. (Whether or not they know why would depend on if they have an equivalent of saints in their world)
How does the chaos unfold? Who pranks another first?
*It starts when Reno sees Sephiroth minding his own business, not wearing green. He decides to try his luck, walks up behind him and pinches his side*
Sephiroth: Why are you pinching me?
Reno: You're not wearing green. It's St. Patrick's day. You're allowed to pinch people who aren't wearing green on St. Patrick's day.
Sephiroth: I had no idea.
Reno: Yeah, it's how you celebrate.
Sephiroth: You mean to say that if someone isn't adhering to the rules of March 17th and wearing the color green, you must punish them physically for disrespecting St. Patrick.
Reno:
Sephiroth:
Reno: This is why I don't talk to you people.
-
*Cloud is coming back from an assignment when Sephiroth appears out of nowhere—wearing a green shirt—and starts thwacking him with a broomstick*
Cloud: ACK.
Sephiroth: You're not wearing green. You have disgraced us all.
Cloud, confused: But sir—ow! My scarf—ow! My scarf is green!
*Sephiroth checks his uniform scarf, which is indeed green*
Sephiroth:
Cloud:
Sephiroth: No one will ever believe you.
*Sephiroth walks away with the broomstick*
-
*Angeal sits on a couch in the SOLDIER lounge after a hard day. He settles down with a copy of his favorite gardening magazine and a sandwich*
Angeal: Lazard had a point. I never take time off for myself. Why do I feel so guilty? It's not like a malicious, punishing hand will appear whenever I try to relax.
*Sephiroth pops up from behind the couch and starts choking Angeal*
Angeal: !
Sephiroth: There is nothing honorable about refusing to wear green on St. Patrick's day.
Angeal: !?
Sephiroth: You sicken me.
-
*Zack is whistling as he pushes open the door to the showers*
....
*Zack runs back out screaming. Sephiroth chases after him with a flamethrower*
Sephiroth: WHY WON'T ANYONE WEAR GREEN?
-
*Genesis steps off the elevator, Sephiroth is standing there with a bucket of green paint to throw at him*
Genesis: Ah-ah!
*Genesis points at his green earring*
Sephiroth:
Genesis: You thought I wouldn't be prepared, didn't you? You underestimated me, thinking me a fool, a careless heathen who would be bested by you once more.
Sephiroth:
Genesis: How does it feel to be wrong? Will this sensation suffice to keep you warm tonight, or must you burn your last bit of dignity too?
Sephiroth:
Genesis: I've waited for this blessed day ever since I made your acquaintance. I've been patient. The wait was long and arduous but I knew it would come.
Sephiroth:
Genesis: And now that we're here, I must say, it was well worth it. I win, Sephiroth. But please, don't let the light of glory that bathes my body blind you.
Sephiroth:
Sephiroth: You idiot. That's not even green, it's teal.
*Sephiroth throws the bucket of paint at him*
Pairing: Loki x Fem!Reader (previously established as Sugar Plum)
Summary: And I'm standing here handing you my heart 'cause I couldn't wait anymore
Warnings: depressed reader, angst, smut. Loki using his shadow magic for nsfw purposes, degredation, spanking, bondage, possessive!Loki, hair pulling. Warnings aren't exhaustive
Here's a part 2 to Santa Baby for y'all. I hope it lives up to expectations!
Tumblr media
The year passes by in a dull, painful blur of building toys, spreading Christmas cheer, and ignoring the ache in your chest that appears any time you think about Loki.
No phone call.
No letter.
Nothing.
All you have is the ghost of a memory that fades with each excruciatingly boring day.
You can't even practice your magic properly... since... ya know... he was your teacher. Honestly, someone should've picked up on that. You're not your brother who takes everything in stride and seems to perfect everything with the ease expected of a future Santa Claus. You aren't your mother who just knows what to do to make someone feel better and keeps the elves satisfied and cheery without breaking a sweat. You aren't your father who is Santa Claus and brings joy to every living being across the nine realms.
You're... an imposter in a family of saints.
No wonder Loki ditched you as soon as he fucked you.
That's all you deserve.
To be used and tossed aside.
"You okay over there, sugar plum?" Sprinkle peers at you with curious eyes and rosy cheeks.
You clear your throat and straighten your dress. "Just fine, Sprinkle. How's the blushing bride?"
Sprinkle perks up even more, her mouth stretching into a wide smile. "She's perfect! I love Mrs. Claus more than anything in the whole world, but I think your brother picked a good girl! She'll be the perfect Mrs. Claus when your parents retire and pass the title!"
Sprinkle continues chattering but you block her out. You love Sprinkle, you really do, but it's difficult to listen to her go on and on about how perfect your brother's soon to be wife is. You know how perfect she is. You knew it the moment she stepped foot in the North Pole. You could sense it. Sprinkle is right; she will be the perfect Mrs. Claus one day. She'll have beautiful children who will one day also pick the perfect spouse and the tradition will keep going for as long as the world still spins.
And you'll be somewhere watching.
"I need to go. I can hear them starting the music." You cut off Sprinkle before your chest can cave in from the nasty feeling brewing deep inside you.
Anxiety, Doctor Jolly called it.
(You aren't sure about him with his credentials being from Gumdrop University, but your dad swears he's "the best in the biz". You're pretty sure your dad only says that because good ol' Dr. Jolly always prescribes hot chocolate for almost any ailment of your dad's.)
You wind your way through the labyrinth that is your home, meeting the rest of your family at the front entryway. Red and green garland wrap around every available surface, silver tinsel dripping off various fixtures. If this was your wedding you probably would've requested more decorations, but Holly wanted to downplay the whole "Santa thing" as she called it.
"My family thinks they're in Canada," she confided in you last week. "I couldn't tell them the truth, could I?"
No, she couldn't, but you still feel bad she had to lie to her family.
And all for your brother.
Ew.
"Oh, sugar plum, there you are!" Your mother reaches out for you, running her eyes over your perfectly pleated red dress before nodding to herself. "Sprinkle did a wonderful job."
"As usual." You give her a tense smile and turn to Holly. "How are you?"
She nods, looking flushed and excited. "I'm good! I've been waiting months!"
Months.
Holly and your brother have known each other for months.
Loki's known you practically your entire life and you can't get him to talk to you anymore.
"-go sit down," your mother says.
You've clearly caught the tail end of a conversation, but you can't find it in you to care. She tugs on you, wrapping her hand in the crook of your elbow before stepping through the heavy oak doors to head into what your mother affectionately calls "the entertaining room". It sort of reminds you of the throne room in Asgard, but less austere and more homey with all the dark wood and soft fire light. It's decorated similar to the entry hall, with red, green, and silver covering everything. A giant Christmas tree sits in front of the staircase with yellow twinkling lights and various handmade ornaments.
"They made it after all, how lovely!" Your mother nudges you in the side, forcing you to look up from the red aisle runner.
You follow your mother's line of vision only to meet Thor's eyes. He gives you a broad smile and whispers something to the brunette woman sitting on his left side. She looks completely awestruck, taking in everything. Whoever she is, she must mean a lot to Thor if he risked bringing her to the wedding.
You look to Thor's right and your throat constricts. Loki sits with his back straight and legs crossed, lips curved down in a bored frown. He looks up at the same time you and your mother take your seats in the front row. Not even the comfy cream and silver chairs the elves worked so hard on for the wedding can relax you. Loki's eyes burn holes in the back of your skull through the entire ceremony. You even miss your dad pronouncing the happy couple man and wife, you're so desperate to find an escape route.
For an entire year you wanted so desperately for him to say anything to you, and now all you can think about is getting away.
How brave of you.
Face your problems head on, Doctor Jolly told you months ago. It sounded nice at the time. Helpful even. Now? Now not so much.
No, you'll make the rounds at your parents' side and then go hide in your room.
Good?
Good.
The assembled crowd migrates to the dining room and you try to lose Loki in the throng of bodies. Much to your displeasure, it doesn't work at all. In fact, it's like he's zeroed in on you and nothing can distract him from stalking you in the giant room. You dance around him, downing one glass of champagne followed by two more. Eventually, you lose him and feel your shoulders relax.
"Hello, sugar plum," Loki's low voice purrs in your ear.
The tension in your body comes back immediately. "What the fuck do you want?"
He puts his hand over his heart. "How nasty. Is that any way to treat an honored guest?"
"Honored guest?"
"That's what the invitation said."
"Well I sure as shit didn't write that." You pluck a sugar cookie off the tray of a passing elf. "If it had been up to me it would've said something like "stupid liars need not show up"."
He raises a brow. "Stupid liars?"
"Yeah, well, it's a work in progress. But you get the idea!"
"No, actually, I don't believe I do. What exactly did I lie about?"
"Good question! You-" you bite off the cookie, trying to buy yourself some time. Loki just looks at you, half expectant, half amused.
"Admit it," he goads you. "I haven't lied to you."
"You took my virginity," you accuse.
Loki shrugs nonchalantly. "Something anyone could've done, sugar plum."
"But they didn't!" A few people turn their heads curiously in your direction when they hear your raised voice, and your skin heats up in embarrassment. "I didn't let anyone else. I let you and then you just left me."
Loki's mask of cool indifference falters for a second before he slips it back in place. "Did it not occur to you that I was otherwise occupied?"
"Oh, so you finally made that move on Sif now that she's free from Thor?"
"Of all the stupid, childish things to come out of your mouth, that one might earn the top spot." Loki bends so his lips are right at your ear. "It's been no one but you for a year, sugar plum. Shall I prove it?"
You shove him away and tilt your chin in defiance. "Fuck off, Loki. I don't need you."
Without sparing a look back, you leave the dining room and head to your bedroom. You'd rather be alone forever than spend another second in a room with Loki. Besides, everyone is so busy with your brother and Holly that they won't notice you're gone.
Once in the safety of your bedroom, you strip out of your dress, the heavy red velvet pooling around your ankles. A simple green bathrobe sits on the edge of your bed, but before you can grab it, long fingers wrap around your wrist. Loki tugs you toward him with ease.
"I've certainly missed this sight," he purrs.
"How did you-"
"Magic, sugar plum. You would've sensed me sooner had you been practicing with your own."
"Sorry, my teacher fucked me and dumped me, so I've been a bit depressed."
Loki hums. "Yes, so Sprinkle cornered me and told me."
You genuinely have nothing else to say. An entire year of dreaming of this moment, and now it's here, and you can't think of a single thing to say.
"Speechless, darling? I do tend to have that effect on women." He's teasing you, trying to get you to say something, but you still can't find the words. "Come now, sugar plum. I'm sure you have more to say to me."
You open your mouth only to close it before opening it again. "I don't."
"Not even if I said I've missed you every second this past year? Not even if I said losing my mother didn't even compare to losing you?"
You heard about Frigga dying. You even attended her funeral. Loki had been nowhere in sight.
"I wanted you," he continues. "Every second of every day."
"You're lying," you say.
"How can you be so certain?"
"Because..." You swallow the lump in your throat and blink back the tears. "I'm nothing. I'm no one."
"Who's the liar now?"
Your eyes flicker up to meet his. "You know it's the truth."
Green flames flicker and dance in the depths of his gaze. "I've met many beings in my life, sugar plum, and most of them never deserved to exist. But you? You're not one of them."
"Loki, I don't feel-"
"No, you never do. You never feel anything, do you?" He's angry as he pulls you into his chest, his long fingers leaving their mark on the bare skin of your hips. "If you refuse to help yourself, sugar plum, I suppose it's up to me."
He walks you backwards until the backs of your thighs meet your soft bed. The two of you topple over onto it, Loki's body still pressed firmly to your own. Through his finely pressed suit you can feel every single inch of him. What little bit of his skin is exposed is hot, feverish almost.
"I wasn't avoiding you," Loki says with a snarl.
He presses hot kisses to the column of your throat in between words. Something cold and almost mist-like wraps around your wrists, pinning them in place. You look to either side and see large shadows the same shape as Loki looming over you. That's what holds your wrists down. That's what slithers across your breasts, toying with your nipples and leaving goosebumps all over your skin. His shadows.
You struggle to catch your breath. "Then what were you doing?"
"Preparing, darling."
"For what?"
Loki hums, trailing his fingers from your hips to the insides of your thighs. His touch is light, teasing. "For you. You're mine."
"Y-yours?"
He nods. "Mine."
He spreads your thighs, dragging a finger over your slit. His shadows still hold you firmly in place, allowing their master to do as he wishes with your exposed body.
"Tell me, darling," Loki purrs in your ear as he sinks two fingers deep in your cunt. "Why would I want anything that isn't absolutely perfect?"
You bite back a moan and squeeze your eyes shut. You've wanted this, dreamt of this, for a year... and now you're totally overwhelmed to have his attention again. As Loki's fingers pump in and out of you, you arch your back, your brain going foggy with lust.
"You're a goddess," he continues. His lips are right by your ear and he nips at your earlobe. "I've been searching for a place worthy of us for the past year. You were made to rule by my side."
Loki leans back, a flash of green momentarily joining the warm orange glow of the fireplace. His clothes disappear in the flash and he's back on you in a second.
"You were made for me," Loki whispers. The firelight catches the sharp angles of his face, softening his expression. His shadows disappear and it's just the two of you now. Loki withdraws his fingers from your cunt and strokes his cock. "Yes?"
You nod, eager to have him inside you. "Yes!"
"Mmm, good girl."
He flips you over onto your front and grips your ass, fingertips digging into your flesh. His cock prods and your soaked entrance and you moan into the sheets. One of his palms moves to rest against the small of your back while he uses the other to guide himself inside you. It feels so good, so right, to have Loki buried to the hilt inside you. You feel full. Complete.
"Loki," you moan out as you arch your back, fucking yourself on his cock. "Please!"
Loki strokes your hair before grabbing a fistful and yanking your head back. "So pretty when you beg, sugar plum. But a good whore uses her words. Tell me exactly what you want."
You continue bouncing your ass on his cock, desperate for any sort of friction. "Please, Loki, please fuck me please!"
"Is that all? You just want me to fuck you? Is that all you're worth? A hole for me to come in and throw away after?"
"Y-yes." It comes out as a question more than a statement.
Loki's hand comes down on your ass, a loud slap echoing through the room. "Wrong. What did I tell you that you are?"
"A goddess!"
"What else?"
When you take too long to answer he smacks your ass again. "What else?!"
"Yours," you cry out. "I'm yours."
Loki snaps his hips forward, meeting your own desperate grinding. "Fuck yes you are."
You let your upper body fall forward, relaxing into his smooth movements as he fucks into your cunt. He's thick and hard inside you and reaches spots you didn't even know existed. Your mind goes absolutely blank until the only thing that exists is the sensation of Loki inside you. He moans your name, praises falling from his lips.
So good, he says. Mine. All mine.
"L-Loki..." you gasp out his name as your orgasm washes through you, leaving your body tingling in its wake.
"Yes," Loki groans. "My perfect girl."
His cock twitches inside you as he comes, his body draping over yours in the aftermath of his own orgasm. His chest rises and falls quickly as he rolls to his side and pulls you with him.
"Are you leaving now?" You hate how small your voice sounds when you ask the question, but Loki's answer has you sighing in relief.
"Never again, sugar plum. As I said earlier, you're mine. Now and forever. In every lifetime."
House of The Dragon Hot Take #15
I think it's HILARIOUS how you guys practically got manipulated by Otto Hightower through the screen 😭 Throughout the entire series we see that nothing he did was for the good of anyone but himself but he actively tries to make it seem like it's helping his "family." When he first said that Rhaenyra would have their siblings killed there was literally no reason for him to think that, he was just talking to talk and you guys genuinely believed him ☠ Rhaenyra had no intentions of killing, maiming, or severely injuring ANYBODY especially not her siblings so she could ascend the throne until The Greens drew first blood. You guys shit on Rhaenyra time and time again but she was inherently peaceful. You guys cannot tell me with a straight face you would not go batshit crazy in Rhaenyra's position because I know I would. Even on Driftmark, her anger was still very justified. Now that isn't me condoning what happened to Aemond, but Luke's nose got broken and Jace nearly got his head smacked in with a rock TWICE and then Alicent (A grown woman) tried to go after her 6 year old son with a knife (and if you pay attention to the way the knife was angled it not only would have taken his eye but killed him as well. DETAILS PEOPLE DETAILS !!) And for the people also trying to justify Aemond killing Luke because 6 year old Luke "bullied" him by saying that Luke is seventeen. Luke isn't seventeen. In the show Rhaenyra literally says he is fourteen. Aemond is believed to be between 17 and 20. As much as I love Alicent and Aemond as characters they aren't saints like so many of you try to say they are. Aemond is canonically a psychopath who quite literally cares about his ambitions, revenge, and power. I have said this time and time again. Rhaenyra's anger is justified.
Michael John McCarthy (born November 10, 1963) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. From 2006 to 2018, he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. In 2011, he led the team to a win in Super Bowl XLV over his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. He was previously the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During his 16 seasons as a head coach in the NFL, this big, cuddly, fuckfest of a man has an overall regular season record of 155–97–2. He is among the only five head coaches (Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Andy Reid and Bill Belichick) to lead one franchise to eight straight playoff appearances. McCarthy is second to Curly Lambeau in all-time wins leading the Packers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again married, but aren't all the hot ones are? Married to his second wife, together the couple has five children between them. McCarthy and his wife have a history of giving back to communities and people in need with the McCarthy Family Foundation. So maybe if I beg enough, McCarthy let me give that ass of his a good, hard pounding. What? He was a two-time all-conference tight end. I won't go into any more detail, I want to keep this a wholesome blog. Also he has a very bad temper and I don't want him to come over here and punch me.
Tumblr media
"you look unwell."
"do i?" your tone betrayed your disinterest. it was very evident to those around you that you were bored. so utterly bored, you couldn't bear being in that place; but your conversing partner did not seem bright enough to pick that up.
"yes, worse than usual."
"than usual?" you didn't care for what others had to say about you. you had grown quite desensitised to the endless talks and endless gossip that encircled you, but there was a limit to your patience. you were no saint. however, the unusual circumstance you were in proved helpful, in the sense that, it was allowing you to leave the conversation justifiably.
"forgive me, i did not mean..." he trailed off, he had finally caught on, he had overstepped.
"you did not mean to speak your mind?" you let out a false laugh, hoping it would give you enough leeway to escape the horrible situation you were engaged in. "it is all well. but i must take my leave. my lord." you thanked the heavens he did not stop you or try to apologise. maybe you ought to thank him for his ‘services’.
making your way closer to the entrance you heard the sound of carriage wheels clattering against the cobblestone streets as guests said their goodbyes and farewells. the night was coming to a close; the warm glow of the chandeliers reflected off the gilded mirrors and the polished floors of the ballroom, while the soft strains of the orchestra's instruments filled the air; it was all hideous and horrible, you could not think of anything but how to get away from it all.
"young lady, where are you going?" turning around you half expected to see a mouse with how squeaky the voice speaking to you was, but there stood a boy standing (half-confidently) in the doorway. why was he calling you young? if anything, you looked older than him.
"just a quick promenade in the garden." you hoped that would’ve been enough to leave you alone, but he seemed displeased with your answer, so you added, "would you like to join me?"
"unchaperoned?!" he looked offended to have even been asked to join you. maybe you should've been offended too?
"it shall not be unchaperoned cousin!" now this was a confident voice. a young man (really, this time) walked up to the boy from behind and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"re—"
"pleasure to meet you lady..." he interrupted. his pitch rose at the end of the sentence; it was a question.
"y/n, l/n. and you are?"
"lady y/n l/n, it is lovely to meet you. great people, the l/n's, lovely family, lovely people—"
the empty chatter was beginning to bother you.
"i would like to know who i will be walking with.".
"aren't you demanding? my lady." he teased. his hand still on the boy’s shoulder, pulling them both towards you.
"forget it." you turned on your heel aggressively and headed towards the looming dark green garden, lit up solely with the flickering fireflies. it almost perfectly reflected the starry night overhead, the turbulent purple clouds and shooting stars falling gently behind them. it was a shame the night was being missed by all the people wasting their time indoors. at least you had been left alone for once—
the young man ran up in front of you and bowed, before giving you his hand. a gleaming smile graced his lips and he seemed quite pleased with himself, like a child figuring out how to do something mundane (to others that is, children often find the silliest things extraordinary) on their own.
"i shall not accept it until you tell me your name."
he sighed in defeat, but he never wiped the stupid smile off his face. again he nodded in a half-bow. "am i allowed to follow you?"
"you can do as you please." you weren't just pretending to be indifferent, you truly didn't care what he did. the idea that you might be trapped into a marriage with the young man if you were caught with him alone had crossed your mind at some point but wouldn't that just mean you could step away from the 'marriage mart’. he seemed smart enough to hold a conversation, and he did seem to possess some aesthetic qualities. all wasn't bad.
"coz! join us!" he yelled as he trailed behind you, like an excited puppy. and the boy obliged. he looked scared, as if his cousin would hurt him if he did not follow through.
"so, my lady, how are you enjoying the night?" he once again offered his hand as you both stood awaiting his cousin to join you.
pushing past his gloved hand and raising your skirt ever so slightly (so as not to ruin it in the garden) you replied, "i have participated in better balls."
"it saddens me to hear that." holding his hands behind his back he stepped closer to you. faking a hurt frown. you raised a brow inquisitively. why was this man so invested in a ball he had not organised? and why was he not telling you his name?
"this is the prince's ball, why should it bother you?"
"you're quite correct. it should not bother me." he chuckled. "coz, what did you think of the ball?"
"you—" a stern look from the mysterious, nameless, young man and the boy corrected himself all too quickly, "the prince must have worked painstakingly for days, it was very well organised, the orchestra was lovely and—"
"enough about the ball!" you said, far too angrily.
"was it really that tiresome?" this time the enigma sounded genuine.
"please, do ask me why i left the ball." you said through gritted teeth.
"why did you leave the ball so early, my lady?" he leaned forward casually and looked you in the eyes, as if deeply interested in what you had to say. you were taken aback– this was a first. you had supposed that he, too, was just as disinterested as you were, and that all the conversing was just a formality. perhaps you were mistaken.
"to be left alone, to get away from the incessant questions about my marriage, about a courtship. is that really all a lady is worth? i truly believe that women are much more interesting than men shall ever be; so why should we withstand the boring, meaningless questions?"
"i don't—"
"please, my lord, do not say a word."
the rest of the walk was quiet. you could almost hear the grass snapping under your weight from how silent everyone was. this was what you had wanted, yet it felt claustrophobic and uncomfortable. by the time you had done the round of the garden and seen all that it offered, the cool air had started prickling your skin. you were sure the man had noticed the goosebump on your exposed arms, neck and back but he seemed to be trying not to invade your personal space again.
a second time approaching the excessive abode you watched a mass of people emerge from the front door and head towards their horse-drawn carriages, with footmen, drivers, and all. that was who you were, the daughter of a duke, rich and privileged. your duty was to secure as advantageous a match as possible, but everything related to that prospect infuriated you. it was a strange feeling, being so aware of who you were supposed to be, yet not wanting to be them. it was a constant battle, and neither side felt truly right.
a man wearing a very tall hat had approached, distracting you from your thoughts. he bowed grandly, taking his hat off before turning sideways and stretching his arm out to point to the buildings, “your royal highness, the archduchess requested your presence.”
the mysterious man nodded his head once and started towards the indicated location.
"you're prince reo mikage?" you called after him. suddenly it all made a bit more sense. not that it wasn’t still a confusing situation. but all the interruptions and stern looks could now be pieced together. your exasperated voice made him turn around at once. it seemed he had found a reason to stay.
"i suppose." he chucked, "but please, call me reo."
"no..." you weren't sure where this crazy sense of daring was coming from. you hadn't even bowed and apologised for your rudeness yet, in fact, here you were denying a simple request. a prince was not the sort of person with whom one ought to trifle.
"no?"
"it would be rude to call a prince by their name without also using their title." you noted primly, he seemed to take this into account for a second before replying, eyes sparkling with bold intent.
"would it be rude to use my name if we were, say, courting?"
"we are not courting."
"but it remains a possibility, my lady?"
you caught an audacious gleam in his eyes and you felt a final breath leave your mouth. you parted your lips ready to say something, but not a single word was spoken. there was nothing but air, and even that seemed in short supply.
“the archduchess does not like to wait, your royal highness.”
“yes, i must be on my way, my lady.” he muttered distractedly, turning back to bid you farewell, “i shall call on you soon.” he nodded again and left.
and there you stood, foolishly, under the moonlight, listening once more to the carriage wheels clattering against the cobblestone streets as guests said their goodbyes and farewells, the night had finally come to a close, truly this time.
you walked aimlessly towards the carriage your mother was standing beside. she looked distraught and anxious, betraying her worry at your absence. you weren’t completely sure what had happened that night and you were dreading seeing reo again, (prince reo, you corrected yourself), unsure of his intentions towards you. deep down you knew you weren’t special enough to capture the interest of a prince in just one night, so was he coming to reprimand your rudeness? you shouldn’t have spoken as much as you did...
however, as the morning drew in, it permeated the night and conquered all the fear and trepidation you had harboured as you slept. you were ready to face all the consequences of your actions and you were ready to protect your family. as you read in the sitting room this fearlessness only heightened. there was no way you would let a young man such as himself, prince or not, shame you and your family. you were prepared to do whatever it took.
“why are you up so early?” the voice of your mother interrupted your thoughts, “after all the sighing and eyerolls from last night, you must be exhausted!”
“i find myself full of energy all of a sudden...” and before she could reply or register what you had just said you quickly added, “i would like to meet the prince.”
“sorry darling, what was that?”
“mother, i would like to meet the prince.” you repeated, this time with more conviction, “to thank him for such an eventful evening, truly one of the best soirees i have ever attended.”
“although i’m sure the prince would appreciate such a sentiment,” she said hesitantly, “i doubt the daughter of a duke could simply call upon a grand prince. there are certain rules one must follow, especially regarding royalty.”
“then, what must i do to secure a meeting?”
she looked around, confused, before prodding you with, “i’m not quite sure myself dear, but may i ask why you wish to meet the prince?”
“i want to give him my thanks.”
she sighed deeply before plotting herself next to you on the sofa. “this is so unlike you dearest. what is it really?”
uncrossing your legs, you swung round to face her fully, “mother, truly, i simply want to–”
before you could finish, the door to the sitting room blasted open, and your butler rushed in, his face burning red and his breaths coming in ragged gasps. “your grace, the prince’s carriage has arrived.”
“so soon?” you murmured, feeling a sudden wave of nerves wash over you. it had hardly been a day and he was here already. all that confidence you had been building up seemed to have vanished as soon as the news of his arrival reached you.
“has this anything to do with your request earlier, darling?” your mother whispered, shooting you a worried glance.
“i don’t think so...” you feigned innocence as she looked at you dubiously raising a brow. nevertheless, she had no time to waste on the matter, immediately taking the now sweating butler to the foyer to greet the royal guest.
you suddenly became very aware of just how unprepared you were for a visit from royalty. you weren’t wearing anything spectacular, and you hadn’t even done your hair yet. you weren’t a mess per se, but were far from ready to attend a royal meeting. but you really had no time to think as your mother entered the room once again, her disposition now distracted and anxious.
“y/n, the prince wishes to meet you in the garden.”
“in the garden?”
“yes. if you know anything about this, please tell me now. i am worried for you.”
“i shall tell you everything soon.”
“y/n!” your mother exclaimed, but you had already ran out of the sitting room, flinging your book onto a nearby sofa and pulling on the gloves she had just taken off.
upon opening the doors to the garden, you saw the same figure you had walked with the previous night. as he turned he flashed you a charming smile, you felt a flutter in your stomach and a warmth build up in your cheeks. part of you was pleased to see him there, but only a part.
“we should marry.” he walked up to you, offering a hand. had he not grown tired of your refusals? you couldn’t help but pity his persistence, and that was the only reason you accepted it. it was warm and sturdy; he must be an adept dancer, you thought to yourself; of course, he was a prince.
“is this how you greet every lady you call on?”
he chuckled while placing your hand on his elbow and guiding you towards the fountain that stood in the centre of the garden. “only the ones i wish to marry, my—”
there you were, interrupting him again. was this your punishment? and if it were, why were you digging a greater grave for yourself rather than just accepting defeat? wouldn’t this be easier on your family?
“i barely know you, your highness.” you protested.
“does my reputation not precede me?”
“i have no interest in gossip, so i know nothing of your reputation, your highness.”
“you shall if we marry.” he continued, as if all your concerns meant nothing to him. they probably didn’t. princes are not accustomed to the word ‘no’.
“you are quite literally the last person i intend to marry, your highness.”
his mouth fell open mockingly as he gave you a rueful look, “you would rather marry my cousin?”
“your high—" you began, but he interrupted. it would be a miracle if the two of you could ever finish your sentences in each other's presence.
“if you are so keen on calling me by my title perhaps ‘my prince’ would be better suited.”
“it would be inappropriate, methinks.”
“and methinks, the lady doth protest too much.” he quipped.
“reciting hamlet shall not woo me, sir.” you retorted, trying your hardest to appear displeased and disinterested.
“then what must i do to secure your heart, my royal highness?”
“i am no princess.”
“you will be if you answer my question, my lady.” he stopped abruptly to look at your face fully. you noticed things about him you had not seen before. his strong yet gentle eyes, the way his hair fluttered slightly in the light zephyr like feathers of doves, and how he always seemed to be charmed.
he was vaguely amusing, vaguely annoying, vaguely vexing, but you couldn’t quite help but admire his wit. what you didn’t admire so much was his persistence and his refusal to take ‘no’ for an answer.
“why me?” you asked finally after what felt like a century of just staring at each other.
“because you fascinate me.” he replied simply, as if that were the most obvious fact in the universe.
you suddenly felt very annoyed, and you didn’t shy away from showing it. you scoffed loudly before replying. “anything can be fascinating, if one is curious enough.”
“you truly are wise beyond your years.” you were wrong. he wasn’t always charmed, in fact in this very instant his smile dropped, and he gave you a grave gaze.
you looked at him for a long moment, feeling unaccountably stung. he seemed to notice the discomfort but said nothing and the two of you stood there staring into each other’s eyes.
“i should take my leave.” he bowed slightly; it was different from the sorts of bows you had received from him. they felt hurt in a way. “your presence has truly brightened my morning, my lady.” his tone did not indicate anything of the sort, it had turned monotonous and distant, and you found yourself longing for his animated self once more.
“so, are we to marry, your highness?” you tried asking. you hated how you sounded so desperate, you hated how you had admitted defeat and you hated how he was leaving, again. why were you calling for him as he left, again? could there ever be a time where he wouldn’t leave.
“not yet.” he said modestly before departing.
days turned into what felt like an eternity as you struggled to despise him with every fibre of your being. and you really did struggle. he was dragging your chastisement for far too long; how cruel it was for him to toy with you like this. you were not his prey to play with before he devoured you. but as much as you tried to resist him, you couldn’t help the way your heart ached when he was gone. it was foolish; you had known each other for barely enough time for him to have such an impact on you. but there was no doubt, you missed him terribly.
your mother, too, had grown tired of asking you about his abrupt visit after more than a week had passed. but your attachment to him only grew stronger.. it was absurd to miss someone who tormented and vexed you. but you supposed you had always been a rather peculiar person.
“dearest, another ball? are you positive?”
a whole month had passed since the incident. very well, it was probably no more than four days, but it felt like months. every second felt like eternity without him. you had attended every ball there was to attend in the past days, days, and nights. yet any time you tried to approach him, you felt like a fool. why willinging walk into a trap of a marriage? what was wrong with your head? no, your heart, what was wrong with your heart?
you were sure this ball would be like every other. some schubert, or mozart if you were lucky, assaulting your ears. women flocking around your prince and him not even sparing you a glance. you wished to be alone in the garden again, just with him this time. you weren’t certain what you wanted to do, you weren’t certain how you would even reach such a circumstance and, you weren’t certain you wanted to listen to your heart at that exact moment.
“no, i’m not, mother.”
“what is it dear?” you could barely make out her voice anymore, the darkness of the night outside was pressing in around you and you felt yourself begin to cry.
your lower lip quivered as you chose your next words very carefully, you did not wish to speak your feelings into existence, and you surely didn’t wish to let your mother know about your affections. “my head hurts, i think the scratchy music from last night has taken a toll on me.” you coveted the energy to add a fake chuckle to that, but you did not have any left. so you looked at her, eyes dead and mouth smiling. it seemed to have worked, she gave you a sad, pitiful look, said some sweet words and left.
you soon heard your tears begin to drip from your eyes. it was a soft, gentle sound, like the fluttering of a bird’s wings, but it echoed through the silence of the room like a thunderclap. you missed him so much it hurt, it was a dull ache that settled deep within your chest and refused to be ignored.
you stopped. you had to. you heard a loud crash echo through the room as it came from the balcony. you spun around, heart pounding, only to see a flower pot had toppled over and shattered on the ground. just great, you couldn’t simply be left to cry, you had to be killed as well.
your nerves on edge, you cautiously treaded towards the balcony, sensing the chill of the night air on your skin, and the hairs on the nape of your neck standing on end. peering over the stone guardrail you saw a familiar man frantically pacing in a circle. why was he here?
“my lady—” he yelled. when the moonbeams lit up his face you saw the state he was in. he looked like he hadn’t slept in days. his cravat was almost entirely undone and his eyes were wild.
as soon as you heard him you charged off, without a second thought. your fingers grasped onto the walls as you ran down flights of stairs, your mind growing dizzier and lighter with every step. as you reached the bottom, you caught sight of him through a nearby window, approaching with a frenzied haste.
with a burst of energy, you pushed open the massive doors and stepped into the crisp night air, coming face to face with the prince. both of you were out of breath, your faces flushed and minds blanking in the presence of each other.
“my—”
“what do you think you’re doing here?” you asked sharply. in truth you didn’t want to know at all, you were just glad, grateful, honoured, to see him again. and so close.
he took a deep breath, steeling himself for the vulnerability of the moment, “can we walk?”
you nodded, feeling your hand enveloped by his warm, slightly rough, ungloved skin, as if he had been out without his gloves. you felt yourself melting into him, and dear god, it was just his hand, but you could feel yourself moulding into him so easily.
“what is it, reo?” you asked softly, turning to face him. the concern etched on his face did not go unnoticed.
in a voice tinged with worry he said, “you look unwell.”
“i am unwell.”
“i’m sorry.” he replied quietly. and he really was sorry. he wished he could be there for you, but he had grown hyper aware of how uncomfortable he made you feel.
“if you were really sorry you wouldn’t have stayed away for so long.” your usual unreadable expression had contorted into a pained and depressed one.
“i cannot stand to be away from you, you are my very life, and every separation gives such endless heartache...yet, i cannot force someone who doesn’t wish to see me to feel what i feel.” he admitted, his voice heavy and hoarse with sorrow.
“i do not wish to see you?” you repeated, heart murky with confusion.
“do you not, not wish to see me?” he asked, his gaze intense as he searched your face for any sign of affirmation. you opened your mouth to offer the prince a scathing retort–why was he being so secretive? you hated him. but then, just when you were ready to sharpen your wit, something else popped out of your mouth instead.
“i want nobody but you for my lover, and my friend; and to nobody but you shall i be faithful.” you whispered, the words slipping out before you could even think to stop them. the air around you seemed to crackle with energy as you met his gaze, your heart struck in your chest. you felt strange, queer, almost as if you were somehow suspended in time, ready to lift off your toes and float away.
you weren’t sure when it happened. it hadn’t been sudden and clear in an instant. you weren’t even aware you loved this man until it had crept up on you and your own words professing your love for him divulged the information.
for a moment, he just stood there, staring at you, as if trying to process the weight of your words. but then he smiled; most annoyingly, most beautifully. and without warning, he stepped forward, his hand finding its way to the back of your neck pulling you closer to him. his lips found yours, and he was none of the things one should be the first time. he wasn’t gentle, and he wasn’t sweet. he just kissed you, intently. with everything he had, with every ounce of desperation coursing through his veins.
as he pulled away, his lips found your ear, and you felt more than you heard, “i missed you.”
you wanted to say that you’d missed him, too, but he was too close, and you were too warm, and your voice escaped you. good heavens, did every woman have this much trouble breathing when standing so close to a handsome man? it was no matter though, he was soon kissing you again; you had no space left in your mind to think of something so silly as breathing.
