Hi hello:))

Sooooooo for the past like year and a half or so, I’ve been designing my 2nd photobook, called “Slow”.

This is a 200pg, 6x9, soft cover, self-published photobook featuring 35mm film photographs and journal entries created/written between 2020 and early 2023 all designed by me.

This is an attempt of documenting and archiving my existence and leaving a small legacy for those that may come or have came after me and those presently around me who I love.

Coming from an immigrant background where unfortunately there isn’t much documentation or photo evidence of relatives and their way of living prior to my parents generation, I’m hoping I can change that a bit, even if it feels small at the moment.

Tips for self-published authors who can't afford editors, etc:

1 - completely rewrite your first draft in a new document, this will improve readability immensely!

2 - ask a friend or family member to beta read (you can send them a Google doc), tell them to let you know which parts feel boring and ask them if they don't mind fixing spelling mistakes they see

It's very important ONLY to ask them to change spelling mistakes, and ONLY if they don't mind. They're helping you out for free, and their time is valuable as well!

3 - Grammarly is free

4 - use a text to speech online app to help catch spelling mistakes (I find listening to my documents helps a lot to catch weirdly worded sentences or mistakes)

I'm always scared to talk about my books because I know there are mistakes in them...

But here's the thing: I wrote them completely myself. Rewrote them. Rewrote them again. Edited. Proofread. Formatted them. And published them all by myself

Of course there are mistakes that I missed, but I'm extremely proud of the work I put into them.

So, if you're willing to overlook a misspelled word here and there (which gets better towards the third book anyway as I learned more ways to edit my writing!)

Hello! do you mind going into a little bit more detail of what kinds of stories are included in that story and picture bundle you put for purchase awhile ago, I've been rather curious of what it entails story wise. For instance like are they prompts submited by readers, stories about the minor characters, or holiday mini stories, back stories of the main cast, etc.

Not a problem. They are all post chapter stories from the RO's perspectives. Including Malcolm. All of them take place before, during and after book 1. If you are a part of my patreon, you have read some of them but they have all sense been edited so they are more cannon compliant. And I wrote about a dozen or so new ones to go with it.

As for the art, it varies from story to story. Some of them are character portraits of both the RO's and minor characters. Others are things around the market. And some are just little things that are mentioned within the story. I think overall there is something like 80 odd pics in there. It's worth it for the art alone.

Hope this clears some things up! I am really hoping to get it out on Steam but for whatever reason it has not been formatting there correctly. It is just a download so people may be better of just buying it off of itch.io at this point.

just sent 68 pages to my editor (IM SO SORRY KIRST) ...now to finish about 10 more pages, and all the random inserts for the Mil-Liminal book Part 1 (yeah its only part one now, theres so much to this story i want to tell, this will be a two parter!) I've been writing casually for a long time but am recently interested in self-publishing a booklet of short stories. I put together a manuscript on Canva so I could print some content off to make into a small zine, and that was really fun! It kind of opened up this desire in me to truly publish some of my own work but I don't know the first thing about it. I am wondering if anyone has advice on self publishing in general, as well as advice on marketing, selling to indie bookstores, how you edit/get your friends to edit, etc.
