being an it girl like cher horowitz
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
introduction:
since i've been talking about fictional it-girls recently (elle and rory) i want to talk about my personal fav, cher from clueless! cher is my ultimate it girl- i love how she is giving and helps other people (tai's makeover and volunteering at her school), is serious about self improvement AND has such a cute style!
school:
make your school routine fun. in the morning make your routine fun- maybe listening to your favorite music while you get ready.
put effort into how you look. cher always dresses up for school and honestly it does make it so much more fun to wear cute clothes and do your hair for school. do what makes u happy! i like to do overnight rollers so my hair has volume for school and also just painting my nails and wearing cute accessories.
be friendly to your peers, especially new kids. make small talk with the people who you sit with in class. if you have a compliment in mind for someone, give it to them even if you're a little nervous. go outside of your comfort zone when it comes to being social.
get involved in extracurricular activities. this is great to make friends and also just a good way to spend your time.
study smarter, not harder.
self improvement:
do work for your community. after the pismo beach disaster cher helped by donating things she had and volunteering for fundraisers. cher knew that she was priviledged so she helped other people.
read one non-school book per week. cher mentions doing this in the movie, and it's just good advice! personally i read before bed and once i finish my schoolwork. (i have a block schedule so my classes are long and we get a lot of free time).
do self care. cher is serious about taking care of herself. skincare, haircare, etc. take care of yourself and pamper yourself :)
take better care of your health. cher makes sure to eat well and stay active. i think it's good for all people to learn more about nutrition, eat more balanced and create fun ways to workout. we only have one body so we need to make sure that we're taking good care of it.
build your vocabulary. cher likes learning new words and using them. having a better vocabulary makes people take you more seriously, and also it's just good to learn new things ofc.
conclusion:
be authentic to who you are, while also being your best self. being kind and helping other people, having a good heart, those are the important things. remember to take care of yourself, your health and also just pampering yourself once in a while. work on taking care of your body and your mind. :)

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #7
Feb 23-March 1 2024
The White House announced $1.7 Billion in new commitments from local governments, health care systems, charities, business and non-profits as part of the White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities. The Challenge was launched with 8 billion dollars in 2022 with the goal of ending hunger in America by 2030. The Challenge also seeks to drastically reduce diet-related diseases (like type 2 diabetes). As part of the new commitments 16 city pledged to make plans to end hunger by 2030, the largest insurance company in North Carolina made nutrition coaching and a healthy food delivery program a standard benefit for members, and since the challenge launched the USDA's Summer EBT program has allowed 37 states to feed children over the summer, its expected 21 million low income kids will use the program this summer.
The US House passed a bill on Nuclear energy representing the first update in US nuclear energy policy in decades, it expands the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and reduces reducing licensing fees. Nuclear power represents America's single largest source of clean energy, with almost half of carbon-free electricity coming from it. This bill will boost the industry and make it easier to build new plants
Vice President Harris announced key changes to the Child Care & Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program. The CCDBG supports the families of a million American children every month to help afford child care. The new changes include capping the co-pay families pay to no more than 7% of their income. Studies show that high income families pay 6-8% of their income in childcare while low income families pay 31%. The cap will reduce or eliminate fees for 100,000 families saving them an average of over $200 a month. The changes also strength payments to childcare providers insuring prompt payment.
The House passed a bill making changes to the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program. The 8(a) is an intensive 9 year program that offers wide ranging training and support to small business owners who are socially and economically disadvantaged, predominantly native owned businesses. Under the current structure once a business reaches over 6.8 million in assets they're kicked off the program, even though the SBA counts anything under $10 million as a small business, many companies try to limit growth to stay on the program. The House also passed a bill to create an Office of Native American Affairs at the SBA, in order to support Native-owned small businesses.
The White House and HUD announced steps to boost the housing supply and lower costs plans include making permanent the Federal Financing Bank Risk Sharing program, the program has created 12,000 affordable housing units since 2021 with $2 billion and plans 38,000 additional units over ten years. As well as support for HUD's HOME program which has spent $4.35 billion since 2021 to build affordable rental homes and make home ownership a reality for Americans. For the first time an administration is making funds available specifically for investments in manufactured housing, $225 million. 20 million Americans live in manufactured housing, the largest form of unsubsidized affordable housing in the country, particularly the rural poor and people in tribal communities.
The Department of Energy announced $336 million in investments in rural and remote communities to lower energy costs and improve reliability. The projects represent communities in 20 states and across 30 Native tribes. 21% of Navajo Nation homes and 35% of Hopi Indian Tribe homes remain unelectrified, one of the projects hopes to bring that number to 0. Another project supports replacing a hydroelectric dam in Alaska replacing all the Chignik Bay Tribal Council's diesel power with clear hydro power. The DoE also announced $18 million for Transformative Energy projects lead by tribal or local governments and $25 million for Tribal clean energy projects, this comes on top of $75 million in Tribal clean energy projects in 2023
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg put forward new rules to ensure airline passengers who use wheelchairs can travel safely and with dignity. Under the planned rules mishandling a wheelchair would be a violation of the ACAA, airlines would be required to immediately notify the passenger of their rights. Airlines would be required to repair or replace the wheelchair at the preferred vendor of the passenger's choice as well as provide a loaner wheelchair that fits the passenger's needs/requirements
The EPA launched a $3 Billion dollar program to help ports become zero-emission. This investment in green tech and zero-emission will help important transportation hubs fight climate change and replace some of the largest concentrations of diesel powered heavy equipment in America.
the EPA announced $1 Billion dollars to help clean up toxic Superfund sites. This is the last of $3.5 billion the Biden administration has invested in cleaning up toxic waste sites known as Superfund sites. This investment will help finish clean up at 85 sites across the country as well as start clean up at 25 new sites. Many Superfund sites are contained and then left not cleaned for years even decades. Thanks to the Biden-Harris team's investment the EPA has been able to do more clean up of Superfund sites in the last 2 years than the 5 years before it. More than 25% of America's black and hispanic population live with-in 5 miles of a Superfund site.
Bonus: Sweden cleared the final major barrier to become NATO's 32nd member. The Swedish Foreign Minster is expected to fly to Washington to deposit the articles of accession at the US State Department. NATO membership for Sweden and its neighbor Finland (joined last year) has been a major foreign policy goal of President Biden in the face of Russian aggressive against Ukraine. Former President Trump has repeatedly attacked NATO and declared he wants to leave the 75 year old Alliance, even going so far as to tell Russia to "do whatever the hell they want" with European NATO allies

4:30 A.M.
It might be insane to willingly be at the gym at this hour, half-asleep and dreaming of being in bed again.
But here you are, dumbbells in hand while staring at your reflection in the massive mirrors, wondering how you were able to do this before.
Once upon a time, you were an avid gym goer who was on top of her nutrition (and honoring her cravings) and an inspiration to her friends for maintaining a well-balanced lifestyle.
After getting laid off, you had all the time in the world to work harder. To cook for yourself, for your friends who were heavily reliant on takeout, and to dedicate more time to the gym. You didn’t think you’d get back into the workforce so quickly but you did, and this job was going to consume much of your time and energy.
Just cooking right after work was exhausting for you. The few days that you intended to take a break from the gym became a week.
Then, it became two weeks.
Three weeks.
Three months.
If it weren’t for incompetent management, you would’ve been able to manage your work-life balance already. You wouldn’t turn to freezer meals and fast food for sustenance. You wouldn’t have to rely on caffeine to get you through the day. It took some mild threats and a long, colorful discussion with the directors to hire more people but now that the new hires have been trained and settled, you could focus on getting your life back on track.
The avid gym goer is still in you somewhere. She just needs to be lured out again, and what better way to make a comeback at the gym than to resume your journey at an all-women’s gym that just opened down the block last month?
Having a safe space accessible to you is enough encouragement for you to pick up your gear again and return to the active life you once knew. You had to reason with yourself to get up this early and you were fortunate enough to still have some level of self-discipline to do so.
While you don’t mind working out with other women, you would much prefer to be alone. Not only is the crack of dawn the only time you have to fit in your workouts, but it’s also when it’s not crowded. You hoped you would have the gym all to yourself until you walked in and discovered one other soul on the premises.
You weren’t in the mood to interact or be perceived so early in the morning but upon making eye contact with you, she beamed and greeted you with a quick wave. Of course you had to wave back, even with how obviously dead you looked. It would be rude to ignore a pretty woman, and you weren’t that rude.
At least until you realized how often you were sparing a her a glance (specifically at her behind) while you were warming up on the treadmill. That was disrespectful.
You shake your head and assume an exaggerated wide stance, your feet planted a fair distance apart. You adjust them while observing yourself in the mirror to ensure that you won’t strain your hips. When your legs are wide enough to feel the burn but not a straining pain, you hold both dumbbells in front of you at waist level. Your eyes close, your head lowers, and you drop down into a front squat.
You steadily drive back up while squeezing your core and proceed with the next several reps of sumo squats, unaware of the only pair of eyes in the building skimming over you.
Tumblr media
Jihyo is no longer performing her routine. Her headphones are now sitting around her neck, and she’s more focused on the glorious view in front of her than on finishing her workout.
It’s not like she’s never seen a woman squatting before. She has.
Dozens of times.
And it gets her rock-hard every time.
She notes that today must be leg and glutes day for you due to the various squats you’ve done, and how you barely targeted any other part of your body. It’s a blessing (and a curse) for her since it’s been a week since she last got some action. That may not be long but as someone who has a decent roster of friends (and patrons) with benefits, a week without pussy is far too long.
And she’s not going to let this opportunity slip up.
She approaches you when you pause for a water break, forgetting that just because other people are up at the same time as her doesn’t mean they have the same energy as she does. “Hi!”
You crane your neck to look at her as you hydrate and greet her with a small nod. “Hello.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen you before. Are you new?”
You nod. “I am.”
She clasps her hands with a grin. “How lovely! Welcome aboard. I’m Jihyo. Do you need any assistance or guidance?”
With pursed lips and a second to think, you slowly shake your head. “No thank you. I appreciate it though.”
She nods. “Let me know if you do. I’ll be happy to help!”
Tumblr media
You’re lying face down on the leg curl machine, your mind slowly polluted by the images you didn’t think you’d see.
With how courteous Jihyo is with extending a helping hand, you had asked her to spot you at the squat rack. As you were performing your barbell squats, you didn’t miss her intent gaze on your behind as you were going down. You didn’t miss the way she licked and bit her lip. How shameless and disrespectful she was with staring, in comparison to the polite gesture of her hands only hovering over your hips.
Not touching you at all.
What had really seared into the back of your mind was the view that you came eye level with when you bent down to pick up your water bottle: the massive tent in her joggers.
Jihyo’s boner has occupied your mind since then. You have been laying still for the past five minutes wondering just how big she is, how friendly she has been, and how innocent her intentions may (or may not) be. You’re not one to stare and ponder the strangers around you, but she caught your eye the very second you set foot into this gym and she now dominates your thoughts and fantasies.
It’s sorely obvious that you made her horny, and now you’re aching because the effect is reciprocated.
“What’s the matter?”
Your heart nearly leaps out of your chest when Jihyo’s voice snaps you out of your trance. You turn your head and, once again, come face-to-face with her pelvis. She’s standing too close to you. So close that you can make out the outline of her erection through her black joggers.
Face heated. Core clenching.
You let your head drop back down, your grip on the side handles tightening at the thought of this woman taking care of you in.. other ways. “Nothing. Just resting.”
“Oh?” She chuckles. “But you were doing very well.”
“I just need a little rest,” you whine.
A light smack on your rear surprises you, but her laughter insists that this is all in good nature. “Don’t slack off now.”
Another smack, and now you’re the one laughing. “I’m not. I promise!”
The empty gym reverberates with laughter and squealing.
You don’t recall when, but it quickly echoes with solid thwacks as her playful smacks have progressed to full-on spanking. You’re no longer giggling. You’re gasping, moaning, and tensing up with each slap that targets your sore ass. Jihyo’s playful jabs have morphed into something darker and more threatening.
It’s exactly what your pussy is aching for.
Being in a lust-filled haze, you don’t budge when your leggings are yanked down. Its compression and tight fit takes your panties down with it, and both garments sit at your ankles, exposing all the intimate parts of you to her–and whoever will stumble through the doors.
As much as you want to be ruined by an insanely attractive woman at this very moment, you’re still in a public place. It would be shameful to be banned on the very first day.
“W-Wait,” you pant as you grab her wrist. “What if someone comes in?”
“They won’t.”
“Doesn’t the manager come in early?”
You’re confused by her hearty laugh.
“Oh darling,” she coos, her fingertips tenderly tracing your slick folds and spreading your arousal. “I’m the manager, and I’ll make sure no one else gets to see you like this.”
Your mouth falls open in a silent moan as two of her fingers dip inside you.
They shove deeper in the second time. Deep enough for her knuckles to graze your hole. You were always keen on being spanked and manhandled, and she is proving just how drenched it can get you.
The squelches of her fingers being suctioned by your aching walls fill the silence. It should be embarrassing to be turned on by so little, but you barely feel any shame. You barely feel the shame of dripping all over the padded surface, dirtying the machine with your juices as Jihyo fucks you with her fingers. You barely feel the shame of allowing the manager to ruin you like this.
And she doesn’t feel an ounce of it either.
“Such a pretty thing,” she mutters, her slow but calculated thrusts doing a splendid job at making you feel full somehow. “It would be a shame to not get a taste.”
Much to your dismay, she withdraws her fingers and leaves you clenching around nothing. “On your back.”
The machine offers little real estate for you to move significantly but with your raging hormones and a rush of adrenaline, you manage to do as told. Jihyo wastes no second getting down, spreading you open, and flattening her tongue on your slit.
The immediate touch of heat on skin is all that you need after months without action. She knows how to use her mouth, just like how you know where to grab to stay balanced as she eats you out. You didn’t think you’d ever find yourself in this exact position again at another gym, but you’re glad you do—and with someone attentive.
Your eyes roll back as her fingers fill you up again. You clutch tighter on the edge of your seat as your engorged clit gets catered to by her mouth, the sharp tugs between her teeth creating even more tension in your limbs. You don’t feel the burn of your core clenching from holding onto the machine, but you’re guaranteed to feel it later when it’s all over and you’re left yearning for more.
The lethal combination of her fingers buried in your cunt and her mouth spelling out filth on your clit is enough to rush you to your brink. You arch your back, colorful words threaded through breathy moans and pitched cries as her deep and steady thrusts work their way up in momentum.
The lewd squelching of her knuckles brushing over your slit is deafening. It reminds you of the strength that you lack. The strength of keeping your head straight and not falling into the palms of a pretty woman. You don’t think your wet pussy can be any louder until she’s working quicker through you. For a stranger, she knows how to navigate your body a little too well.
“Fuck,” you pant, your grip on the sides of the seat squeezing tighter.
Jihyo replaces her mouth with her thumb on your clit, and you fall apart. She watches your drenched cunt cream her digits and make a massive mess on the seat. Your release streams down the surface and puddles to the floor, and the filthy view only makes her cock swell more.
She has waited long enough.
You fall limp when she removes her fingers. With your head spinning, you intend to recuperate from the ecstasy. Not a minute later, however, is your peace compromised when a massive intrusion slides inside you, prying your slick walls open and earning a loud cry from you.
You scramble to look down and find Jihyo’s cock stuffed inside you. You peer up at her with wide eyes, gulping at the smirk on her face. She slowly pulls out.
Agonizingly slowly.
You discover just how big she is before she drives it back into you. You fall back with a moan, once again reduced to a mess as your body is at her mercy.
Your tits, confined in a low-impact sports bra, are squeezed together by her hands before she yanks the garment down to free them. Though she’s still and snug inside you, pleasure continues to surge through your limbs as she sucks on your nipple. Lips clasped and teeth nipping at the sensitive peak, she suckles and pulls and gets you flowing even more.
“Please,” you exhale. “Please move. Please!”
She chuckles and releases your nipple with an obscene pop. “Since you asked so nicely.”
Very nicely.
Nice enough for her to prop your legs over her shoulders, bend you in half (unearthing the flexibility you didn’t know you had), and fuck you.
Her pace varies between quick and mildly painful, to slow and deep and intoxicating. Your pain threshold can carry you through the phase of her drilling your aching cunt. When she suddenly slows down and her thrusts are drawn out, the brunt of the pleasure hits you.
“You’re doing so well for me, baby,” she coos.
Another thrust, and she grunts. “Just a little more. Feels good, doesn’t it?”
She fucks the words out of you. What you intend to say is disrupted by the lewd noises that leave your lips. You muster a stiff nod to acknowledge her and she responds by leaning forward, forcing your thighs up to your chest, and picking up her pace.
She’s so deep inside you with this new angle. You were going to bruise and stagger for days to come, but you can only focus on how this woman’s strict fitness regime is showing in the unforgiving momentum of her hips and her effortless grip to keep you balanced, Since you barely had a breather from your previous orgasm, you’re quickly driven to that brink.
As your eyes roll back and your body arches, Jihyo smirks. She digs her fingertips into the softness of your thighs, panting as she drills you. “Go ahead, baby. Come for me.”
The machine is slick with your overflowing arousal. With how hard she’s fucking you and how much you’re dripping, the obscene squelches of her cock pounding your poor cunt echoes through the empty facility. If you weren’t so lost in lust, you would feel embarrassed about dirtying the equipment.
“Oh, fuck!,” you cry out, thighs trembling violently as you gush all over her.
The force of your release pushes her out, allowing all the room you need to spatter and spill all over the seat. She vigorously strokes your engorged clit while pumping her pulsing cock as she is just as close. She drains you of all you have before sliding back inside you with ease, courtesy of your ample wetness.
“God, yes,” she hisses as your slick walls immediately tense around her.
Your thighs lock around her neck from the sensitivity as you’re subjected to her endurance. Her persistence. Your stamina is nowhere near hers, and you wonder just how quick it’ll take for her to break you.
To destroy you.
Loud moans erupt from both of you as she bottoms out, stretching you with her girth and filling you with her load. She weaves a tight embrace on your thighs, draws out, then pistons back into you, pushing her cum deeper inside you. Your hips lift just slightly from her hold on your legs, and the feeling of her dick buried inside you is now burned into your memory.
You were going to crave it more than ever.
When she pulls out of you, you lay lifelessly on the machine.
Sweaty, ruined, and filthy.
Jihyo, on the other hand, has already straightened herself up. You assume she’s about to tell you to hurry up and clean the equipment before people start coming in. Instead, she lowers to your eye level and strokes your hair.
“You did so well, pretty girl,” she praises with a grin. “Go hop in the shower. I’ll clean up for you.”
“Really?”
She nods. “Let me know if you ever need assistance with your… workout.”
You giggle, and proceed to slide off the dirtied seat. You feel the impact of Jihyo’s strength now that you’re on your feet, and it’s even worse as you amble to the shower.
If you’re feeling this now, you’re certainly not ready for the full soreness tomorrow.

Do you think Riddle is so short because of what his mom made him eat ?
Like only making him get the perfect amount of calories like in his overblot backstory
Maybe it is because his mom is also short? Anyways she doesn't seem tall, also where is his dad.
Tumblr media
***PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT speaking as a dietician or a doctor; the information and interpretations presented here are based my own scientific knowledge and research, and apply ONLY to the analysis of a fictional character. This post is NOT meant to be taken as any sort of medical or dietary advice.*** Personally, I'm not of the belief that Riddle is short due to his controlled dietary intake. In very simple terms, calories can be thought of as the fuel you burn to get through activities. While a caloric deficit can contribute to stunting of growth, I don't think this applies to Riddle since he lives a relatively sedentary lifestyle (sitting and studying) and is provided an adequate amount of calories per meal. I want to take a quick moment to dispel the commonly held belief that Mrs. Rosehearts underfeeds Riddle. This seems to sprout from a misinterpretation of a line in 1-25 when she is serving Riddle a birthday meal. Here, she states the exact amount that Riddle must have in order to not overshoot 600 kilocalories. This is led some fans to think that Mrs. Rosehearts restricts Riddle to 600 kilocalories a day, which is just not true. From the dialogue, it is clear that Riddle is granted 600 kilocalories per meal. Assuming 3 meals a day, that means 1800 kilocalories per day, which is very close to the recommended 1745 kilocalories for the average 8-year old boy (not accounting for fluctuations from individual child to individual child). This is a perfectly normal intake, but is appears strange at first glance because very few parents actively calorie count what their child eats to this extent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to the original topic, nutrient intake also contributes to height. (Think of nutrients as the building blocks to a building called your body, and the calories as workers or the 'energy' that assembles the building/your body.) However, that doesn't mean that I think Riddle didn't get enough nutrients; it is possible to have low calorie meals which are nutritious. (For example, athletes may have to follow specialized diets in order to attune their bodies to whatever sport or activity they do. Similarly, Vil crafts a diet for the VDC/SDC squad in book 5 which cuts out junk food, is overall lower in calories, and still provides the group with the energy they need for practice.) Mrs. Rosehearts has dialogue where she describes the nutritional content of the meals she has prepared, which seem to be tailored for brain function. I'm going to assume that those meals also adequately provided for Riddle's other nutritional needs. I don't have reason to believe Mrs. Rosehearts, a doctor and mother who is detail-oriented and hellbent on her child's success, would knowingly and intentionally sabotage his health.
Tumblr media
It’s canon that maintaining physical wellbeing makes for a good mage (which is why NRC makes its students take P.E.). Additionally, eating well is said to be one way a mage can make a recovery from blot accumulation. If Riddle were eating poorly and/or was of poor health, that would only mean struggles with concentration and his magic suffering the consequences—and that’s very much counterintuitive to the success that Mrs. Rosehearts envisions for her son.
You don’t need an abundance of calories or nutrients for growth and development. The excess will get stored as adipose tissue/fat or (depending on the nutrient) exit the body as waste. It’s important for a child to be fed well in order to grow properly, but generally if they aren’t malnourished (ie getting less than what they need) then they wouldn’t be stunted.
By in large, genetics is the major deciding factor in height. I believe current studies suggest as much as 60-80% of one's height is predetermined by DNA sequences (although those DNA sequences can be altered by the environment and outside other factors). It could very well be that Riddle is just short because his ancestors had the "short" gene. Looking back at manga images of Riddle's mom from the manga, she doesn't seem that short to me. Even when Mrs. Clover is bowing her head to her, both moms appear to be about the same height (if Mrs. Clover were standing). Maybe Mrs. Clover is a little taller (it's hard to say just staring at the image), but not by a lot. If I had to guess, they seem to be about average height for women. That doesn't mean anything in terms of genetics though, you could be any height and still carry the "short" gene to pass onto your children (the shortness trait just isn't always expressed outwardly.)
Tumblr media
If I had to guess, I’d say Riddle is just “naturally” short or drew a bad lot in terms of genetics (since his height seems to be a sore spot for him). He’s about that age where most men will stop growing too (although some do grow well into their late teens and even early twenties).
Regarding Mr. Rosehearts, we haven't seen him yet but he's definitely mentioned a few times! He is said to be a medical mage like his wife and is implied to not have a happy marriage with her (according to Riddle). That's about all we know of him now. Some parental figures just get less focus than the other, and that’s the case for Mr. Rosehearts as well as many others (Mrs. Trappola, Mr. Spade, Mrs. Asim, etc.).
It’s possible that the short gene came from Mr. Rosehearts, but we don’t know for sure since we’ve never gotten so much as a silhouette for him. Again though, he could be tall or average but have an unexpressed short gene. I believe many fans headcanon him as short though, as the King of Hearts in the source material is smaller and meeker than his wifez

the effect of what (and how) you eat
okay, this is a big topic. and so this is a long post. i'm going to be going over the effect of what you eat and why it's important to think about what foods you are consuming. don't worry! i do my research-- at the end of the post will be a few resources, and i'll show where i've gotten my information.
lots of dietary advice is available over the internet, but often the people absorbing the information do not understand the why. knowing where your information is coming from,, and not believing everything you read online is key to actually maintaining a good, healthy diet.
before you read: TRIGGER WARNING THERE IS MENTION OF EATING DISORDERS,,
let's start with this: like everything in this age, food is a double-edged sword. overconsumption and underconsumption can both kill you. what you eat; how you eat--it can help or hinder whatever your goals may be.
here's the effect/s: the connection between diet and mental health is profound. while we’ve long understood that diet plays a crucial role in overall health, emerging research in the field of nutritional psychiatry sheds light on how what we eat directly impacts our emotional well-being and mental state.
the brain-gut connection: the gut is closely linked to the brain. trillions of living microbes in our gut have essential functions, including synthesizing neurotransmitters. these neurotransmitters send chemical messages to the brain, regulating sleep, pain, appetite, mood, and emotions.
to improve your gut health, here's what you can do:
by eating a varied diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, essential nutrients are provided which feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut. high fibre foods promote gut health by supporting good bacteria.
fermented foods, such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and miso are rich in probiotics—live beneficial bacteria that boost gut health. kombucha (a fermented tea) is another option.
avoiding reducing processed foods can reduce the diversity of good bacteria in your gut. when i say processed foods, i'm referring to ultra-processed foods, for example, fried foods and frozen meals. they may be easy and cheap, but they include preservatives, artificial colouring, chemical flavouring and texturing agents. all of which our bodies are not made to consume. it's ignorant to tell you to avoid processed foods at all costs. that's not realistic, and a horrible mindset. instead, you should manage your intake. enjoy treats every now and then and don't punish yourself for it.
hydration is key to a healthy gut. water supports digestion and nutrient absorption.
stress management, eating well and exercise can also help your gut microbiome's health.
by having a healthy gut microbiome, you are helping your body to have lower chronic inflammation, have regular bowel movements and more effectively absorb nutrients. therefore, you will have a stronger immune system, have clearer skin and support your digestion and metabolism.
why eating protein matters: proteins are made of amino acids, which serve as the fundamental building blocks for various structures in our bodies. these amino acids are essential for forming enzymes, hormones, tissues, and DNA. protein is vital in maintaining and building muscle mass. when activities like strength training and physical exercise are engaged in, protein helps build and repair the muscles.
hemoglobin, a protein in our red blood cells, transports oxygen from our lungs to other tissues. without adequate protein, oxygen delivery would be compromised. antibodies, which defend against infections, are made of proteins. a well-functioning immune system relies on sufficient protein intake. collagen, a protein, maintains the integrity of our skin, hair, and nails. adequate protein supports healthy skin elasticity and wound healing.
the recommended dietary intake for protein relies on factors such as age, weight, height, gender, activity and overall health. remember that individual needs can vary, so consulting with a healthcare provider or registered dietitian is advisable to determine your specific protein requirements.
many diets exist that cut out entire macronutrients (keto for example) but that is not the way. each macronutrient has great importance in helping the body function.
carbohydrates are the body's (including the brain) preferred energy source. they enable muscle contraction during exercise and even at rest. carbs maintain body temperature, support heart function, and aid digestion.
the keto diet comes from the belief that when carbohydrates are not providing energy (are not being consumed), the body will use reserved energy stored in lipids (fat). while this is true, this diet is not maintainable-- it throws the body out of whack, storing more energy to maintain homeostasis.
fats provide energy and are essential for hormone production. they contribute to cell growth, brain health and vitamin absorption.
our brain is composed of ~60% fat. fats are essential for neurotransmitter production, affecting mood, cognition, and hormonal signalling. cholesterol, often associated with heart health, is a precursor for steroid hormones (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone). without adequate cholesterol, our body cannot produce these essential hormones.
effects of diet on mood: firstly, going long periods without eating can cause a drop in blood sugar levels, leading to tiredness and irritability. secondly, consuming excessive amounts of food can make you feel tired and lethargic.
choosing the right carbohydrates can help maintain blood sugar levels. our brain primarily runs on glucose (obtained from carbohydrate-rich foods). you can opt for slow-release carbohydrates to maintain steady energy levels. slow-release carbohydrates (a.k.a low GI food) provide a more sustained and gradual release of energy compared to other carbohydrates. examples include fruits, vegetables, whole grains (grainy bread, brown rice, oats) and sweet potatoes. high GI foods rapidly spike blood sugar levels due to their quick digestion and absorption.
going too long without eating can lead to low blood sugar levels, resulting in irritability and fatigue. overeating to discomfort can also leave you feeling tired and lethargic. consistent, moderate-sized meals help maintain stable blood sugar levels and promote an even mood.
i know, overeating is an issue that one cannot simply 'turn off'. it's important to know the psychology, and if you struggle with it--please talk to a health professional.
here is what i can tell you about overeating:
overeating is typically a learned behaviour and habit. certain foods are associated with pleasure and reward. when enticing food is encountered, we engage in eating behaviour and immediately experience pleasure. this reinforces the habit, making it challenging to change.
overeating may be serving as a coping mechanism for emotions. when feelings of sadness, disappointment, frustration, or even joy arise, someone may turn to food. emotional eating provides temporary relief, reinforcing the behaviour.
the first delicious bite triggers pleasure, satiates our appetite, and improves our emotional state. our memory associates this reward process with eating, leading us to continually seek that pleasure. this is due to immediate reward.
people with eating disorders may disregard their health, body, body image and lifestyle goals. they use food as a way to punish themselves and gain control over their life. restrictive eating disorders can lead to 'binging behaviour'. bingeing serves as a way to numb emotions. anxiety, stress, and depression can trigger binge behaviours. consuming certain foods or substances (like junk food or alcohol) releases dopamine, the “feel-good” neurotransmitter. this chemical rush can lead to physical addiction, reinforcing bingeing. a culture (unfortunately which is abundant in the world today) that emphasizes consumption as a measure of worth can contribute to bingeing. messages about thinness, drinking, and material possessions can drive these behaviours.
i hate that i am having to say this but alcoholism is bad. and caffeine addiction is bad. in no way is harming your health aesthetic or 'a vibe'.
limiting caffeine and alcohol can also improve mood. again, i'd like to stress that there is never going to be one perfect diet, and allowing yourself to enjoy whatever food you like is perfectly fine- as long as you are doing so in moderation.
everything is a balance.

Fitness update time baybeeeeeeeee! I once again had to gather the balls to post the photos here so uh. Ye. :D
Like the last one, more details will be under the cut, but for the TL;DR crowd:
Last Update Here
Current: 177lbs | Estimated BMI: 24-26% | Push Pull Legs split at 6 Days a week
Notes: Training stimulus for this block focused on lifting basics and intensity: establishing a stronger mind-muscle connection and knowing how training to true mechanical failure feels like. Additional challenge: Finding maintenance calories and maintaining weight in the general range of 175-180lbs before re-attempting 1st Lean Bulk attempt.
Results: All lifts have seen an increase in working weight. Noticeably more muscle definition overall over the course of the last two months. Weight largely remained the same; assume maintenance calories has been accurately found.
Sooooooo the last two months have been kinda crazy. I took a look at my past lifting logbooks and found that despite my PRs being higher than the last recorded attempt, my overall working weights for all of my lifts hadn't really moved much. Partially out of fear of injury, but mostly due to the noticeable lack of real intensity in the training.
On top of that I found that my weight wasn't going down or up at the calories I was eating at, but my energy had begun to drop and recovery was suffering. Originally I was meant to be in my first bulk, but my weight never moved, and that ultimately resulted in me switching strategies for my nutrition too.
Basic idea: dial up the intensity, RPE of 8-9.5. Find true maintenance calories.
For nutrition: I used the TDEE calculator for my calories this time. It's supposedly more accurate than most other calorie calculators including MyFitnessPal's calculator, which gave me 2200 calories as my "bulk". Welp, turns out that's wrong; 2200 is my cutting number with my current activity level. And given how long I've been in a cut, it explained why, even in the deficit still, my weight never moved: it's too low to gain weight, and with how long I been in a deficit up until then my body was adapted too much to continue losing fat. So I instead switched focus onto finding my actual maintenance calories by immediately bumping my calories to the number the TDEE calculator gave me (2600 cal) and adjusting based on how my weight trend.
Result is, over the course of 2 months I gained 2 pounds but I'm certain this is almost entirely muscle (based on look, measurements, and performance in the gym); I've otherwise hadn't changed weight wise. This is good to know; it means I can eat more than I initially thought and gives me a stronger baseline for when I do actually go into a real bulk.
For training: First thing I focused on was my legs, which was arguably my weak link. This is largely due to an old injury in my left knee made it hard to reach full range of motion, and the strength discrepancy between my left and right leg because of it was pretty noticeable. Correcting it is one of the reasons why I switched to PPL training split, with Legs being trained first every cycle.
For both my legs and my isolation exercises I utilized unilateral versions of all my exercises; working each limb separately instead of together. I also incorporated a different set program: 2 working sets of 6-10 reps, 1-2 sets taken to true mechanical failure. The failure sets were meant for me to get used to the very uncomfortable sensation of training the muscle to- and past - it's actual limit and not my mental limit while maintaining proper form technique. That shit is rough, but it ensured that I was training with actual intensity and I was taking the muscle to true failure for growth, which in turn would help with building better muscle-mind connection with each muscle bilaterally and unilaterally.
For compounds I didn't take any of the lifts to true failure due to the higher fatigue and recovery toll. Instead I focused on building strength skill, so the set program was: 1 Topset (heaviest set of the exercise) 1-3 reps, 2 working sets for 5-8 reps. Any hypertrophy work for these lifts were always done with machine accessories for stability and safety.
Results thus far has seen my overall strength increasing, my knee is much stronger and stable (tested my squats and I can safely squat my own bodyweight without pain or wobbling, which is a feat due to being unable to do that months ago), and I confidently can say I have better form and idea of intensity.
-------
SO! With all of that said I'd say this block was overall a success after much trial and error. Now that I've gotten a better idea of a few things, my next move right now is to take a deload week for some much needed rest, then structure my next block for a more strength focus alongside my 2nd attempt at an actual lean bulk. The goal is to gain at least 4-5 pounds of muscle by the beginning of next year and make a new maxout for my PRs, so I might look a lil soft the next time I do a progress report but hopefully I'll be much stronger and ready for my second cutting phase.
This shit is hard, but I'm loving it to death man. I'm having a lot of fun learning and going through the journey and now I can confidently say that I'm at the Intermediate stage of lifting! I also think I know the type of weightlifter I am now. I've heard the term "powerbuilding" a few times now and I feel it fits; primarily lifting to build strength, but also throwing in some bodybuilding rhetoric for aesthetics.
Like I said a while back I'm seriously considering recording my workouts and posting those as I go on my Instagram, and I've actually bought a lil phone stand to practice recording and being more comfortable in front of the camera. We'll see how that goes I suppose!
But uhhhhh YE! That's all my yapping for now. Thank you for listening, and if you have any fitness goals feel free to share them with me! :)

16 Plant-Based Protein Sources
Protein is often raised as a concern for people considering adopting a plant-based diet, and considering the fact that we've all been taught to associate protein primarily with red meat, this is not surprising.
It is estimated that most adults require 56 grams of protein per day, and you're probably hitting that number if you're not in a calorie deficit. If you're trying to lose weight and so are cutting calories then you may need to track your protein a little more closely, but 56 grams is pretty easy to hit without having to really think about it.
It gets a bit more difficult if you're very physically active, particularly if you're engaged in regular endurance training or are trying to build muscle. There is a great deal of disagreement about precisely how much protein is ideal if you're training intensely, but it is very achievable to hit even the upper end of protein requirement estimates using only plant-based foods. Listed below are particularly good options.
Tumblr media
1) Lentils - Lentils are a cheap nutritional powerhouse, and provides about 17 grams of protein per cup. They're also very flexible, you can have them as your main protein source of a meal, use them to substitute mince in a pasta dish, make burgers out of them, or put them in a stir fry or with rice and veg with some seasonings. They are cheap and convenient if you buy them canned, since they're ready to eat, though I would recommend at least warming them up.
2) Chickpeas - Chickpeas are a popular vegan staple, and it's not hard to see why. At approximately 14.5 grams of protein per cup, they're nutrient dense and very flexible. Use them to make hummus or falafel, as the main protein source of a curry, on their own with rice or worked into a salad. You can also just air fry/grill them with some oil and spices for a convenient, crunchy snack.
3) Oats - A cup of dry oats is around 11 grams of protein by itself. Making it with a cup of oat milk brings that up to 14 grams, throw in a tablespoon of peanut butter and you're up to about 17.5 grams at breakfast, and all those ingredients are pretty cheap and very filling. You could add something like nuts or chia seeds as a topping to stretch that to well over 20 grams.
4) Nuts - Peanuts are 9.5 grams per 1/4 cup, almonds are 7g, pistachios 6g, cashews 5g, hazelnuts 5g, brazil nuts 4.75g, walnuts 4.5g and pine nuts are 4.5g. You can buy 1kg bags of mixed nuts for a little bit cheaper and keep them in a jar for a healthy snack. I find it better to buy a bag that doesn't have peanuts in then add the peanuts later, as mixes that include peanuts tend to be less for your money. Peanut butter is also a cost effective way to add protein to many snacks and meals.
5) Beans - Depending on the type, beans are anything from around 10-15 grams of protein per cup. Some are better than others, like kidney beans, but even your standard baked beans are high protein and good for you. Turn them into a chilli, have them on toast, on a jacket potato, turn them into a bean burger or make them the protein base of a salad or soup. Kidney , soy and edamame beans are particularly good options.
6) Seitan - When cooked, seitan closely resembles to look and feel of red meat. It is made of wheat gluten and has 25 grams of protein per 100 gram serving. It is not very widely available in supermarkets, but try your local Asian market, where it will usually be cheaper as well. It's a bit of a hassle, but you can also make your own at home, which is extremely cheap as it's just wheat gluten, yeast, plant milk, miso and spices.
7) Tofu/Tempeh - A staple in Asian cooking, don't be afraid to try this one. Think of it as doing all the same things chicken does in terms of recipes, it soaks up the flavour around it. It needs to be pressed before use, or you can avoid that by just draining the liquid and freezing it, then thawing over night when you want to use it. 100 grams of tofu (less than half a small block) contains 8 grams of protein. Some tofu, like Naked TooFoo, is pre-pressed for you.
8) Faux Meats - Faux meats are an easy way to add a protein base to your meal, and has the advantage of serving the same function on a plate as the foods you were used to before you went vegan. A Beyond burger, for example, has 19g of protien per patty, though you can get much cheaper options that have a similar nutritional profile. Pair that with a wholemeal bun and something like brown rice/quinoa and vegetables and you can create a very high protein meal.
9) Grains - All grains are good for protein, these include quinoa, spelt, brown/wild rice, teff, amaranth and sorghum. They can range anywhere between 5 and 8 grams per 100 grams, and you'll usually be serving them with some sort of protein source. They're also an excellent source of fibre and carbohydrates, which are also important for training and general health. Quinoa in particular provides all 22 essential amino acids.
10) Peas - Green peas are not mentioned much when it comes to high protein options, but a cup of cooked peas is a respectable 9 grams of protein, and it's worth mentioning here because they tend to be used more as a side than main, so can be paired with other high protein options. They're also very cheap, freeze well and are easy to prepare.
11) Seeds - Just a tablespoon of chia seeds is nearly 3 grams of protein, and the seeds are so small and tasteless that you don't actually notice them in anything you put them in, making them an easy way to add protein to just about any meal. They're pretty cheap to buy in large quantities, particularly good to replace eggs in baking, to add to bread flour, salads and oatmeal. Other high protein seeds include pumpkin, sunflower, linseed, hempseeds and buckwheat.
12) Bread - Bread may not immediately come to mind when you're thinking about protein, but wholegrain/rye/spelt breads can be very high in protein, anywhere from 3 all the way up to around 10 grams per slice, particularly for seeded loaves. If you really want to turn bread into a high protein food, invest in a bread maker or bake it yourself, that way you can add nuts, seeds and oats yourself to up the nutritional value. That's just the bread too, a hummus and falafel sandwich with a high protein bread can be very nutrionally dense.
13) Fruit and veg - Worth mentioning here, as they're something you'll need to consume to maintain a healthy diet anyway, and some options have moderate protein. The higher protein options include broccoli, spinach, asparagus, artichokes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts, which all contain 4–5 grams of protein per cooked cup. Likewise, blueberries, guava, bananas and nectarines contain about 2-4 grams of protein per cup, as well as many other vitamins important for training.
14) Nutritional Yeast - No vegan list is complete without mentioning it, it's a vegan staple for its nutty, cheesy flavour, as well as being an easy source of vitamin B12. It's a complete protein that has 8 grams of protein per 16 grams serving, making it an easy way to add more protein to things like pizza, pasta dishes or a jacket potato. Use it to make cheesy sauces, or just sprinkle it on anything you'd have previousy added parmesan cheese to.
15) Protein Bars - They tend to be  on the expensive side, but there are a few plant-based options. I'd recommend Misfit bars if you can get them online, they're low sugar, 15g of protein per bar, and you can buy them in variety packs of 40 which works out cheaper. Trek also have protein flapjack bars, less protein (8-9g) but are much cheaper in packs of 3 and frequently available at a discount (as little at 85p for three in Heron here in the UK).
Most brands won’t be suitable as a daily option for many people given the price, but great for when you're need a protein boost on the go. You can also just make your own protein bars using nothing but oats, cinnamon, baking soda, a little maple/golden syrup and a scoop of plant-based protein powder.
16) Protein/Meal Powders- Even the cheaper powders are around 18g of protein per scoop, so a shake is an easy way to add more protein to your diet, or you can stir it into oatmeal to get most of your daily requirements over breakfast. Some meal replacement shakes, like Huel Black, are around 40 grams of protein per serving (2 scoops) even when made with just water, providing a cheap and easy way to have a high protein and nutritious meal without any prep or fuss. Add some peanut butter and plant milk to make them tastier and even higher in protein. (I don't accept sponsorship or commissions from any brand and I don't have any affiliate links. Any product recommendations are based solely on my own experience.)

Hooty, the Titan, and the Archivists?
Tumblr media
(Skip to The Timeline heading down below if you just want the backstory I put together.)
All right, so I think Hooty was the one who built the temple, or “Collector’s lair” we see inside of the Titan’s skull. Going off of the assumption that the Titan’s tapeworm is indeed our Hooty and not another of his kind...
Tumblr media
Anyone remember these weird demons from Hooty’s Moving Hassle? Probably not; It’s a case of a little demon living in the right eye socket of a bigger demon. Right after giving Eda directions, the bigger demon ensnares his little guy with his tongue to eat him. But what if he wasn’t actually eating him; Just transporting his friend to another part of his body?
If you think of it, these two could be a metaphor for how the Boiling Isles as a whole work; A bunch of smaller little guys, living on a bigger guy’s body and occasionally interacting with him. The main difference being that the Titan is mostly dead, and can’t physically interact with people, just watch and show them glyphs. Hooty’s relationship with the Titan could’ve been similar to these two... And we see this pair in Hooty’s Moving Hassle, an episode that implied deeper lore to Hooty, such as the living legs underneath the Owl House, his reaction to the Moonlight Conjuring, etc.
Then there’s that mural I showed earlier, depicting a tower at the Collector’s lair, with a circular symbol that as @fermented-writers-block (and/or someone else idk) suggested, bears a resemblance to Hooty... So could this be where Hooty emerged from, all the way within the Titan’s eye socket? Did he build this living space while the Titan was alive, or afterwards?
Likewise, this eye motif becomes even more interesting when we remember Dell’s tower, which the Owl House was built from;
Tumblr media
It has the same giant eye window, repurposed... And at the end of the first episode, it even blinks.
Could be a case of early-installment weirdness, but what if this alludes to the window having once been alive? We know the Owl House itself has breathing walls, revealed in, you guessed it, Hooty’s Moving Hassle! If Hooty was a part of the Owl House, who’s to say he wasn’t part of Dell’s tower, before it got converted by Eda? Likewise...
We know Dell visited the ‘mandible’, so presumably the Titan’s jaws. This next bit is more speculative, but if Hooty was left behind in the Titan’s skull, then maybe he scavenged around the area; And teeth are known to have lots of leftover food bits, wonderful for such a voracious creature like Hooty! So maybe Dell found Hooty there, and essentially adopted him; Bringing Hooty with him back to the right arm, where he eventually created a new structure for Hooty to house himself in. Possibly taking the Titan’s right eye and repurposing it as a window...
I mean, if you think about it... Both King and Eda have a dad who’s missing an eye. And Dell would’ve presumably made this trip after losing his eye... Assuming it’s not a return trip, possibly to meet up with his old pal Hooty, or search Hooty’s old home for strange things that might help? So maybe the window is the Titan’s left eye, transformed.
Continuing onwards, Hooty may seem too small, given his scale relative to the Titan; But so does the Titan’s heart, as is the proposed eye the window would’ve come from. What I think happened is that over time, these leftover bits of the Titan shrank due to a lack of nutrition, for obvious reasons; And Hooty is indeed a very gluttonous creature. Of course, his eating tendencies may have originated prior to the Titan’s death...
We see how Hooty has a tendency to swallow a bunch of stuff to spit out at a later time, when needed. And if he guards the temple where the Collector’s disc was found, perhaps Hooty simply... swallowed it, in order to transport the disc within? He could’ve been used as a way for the Titan to store things inside of her skull, of all places, and then vomit back up afterwards when required.
We know there are multiple Collector discs, there’s one with the Titan Trappers, a second one I theorize was eaten by Hooty, and what appear to be remains of at least one more hovering around the Collector’s prison in the in-between;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However! We must recall that on the doors leading to the skull’s temple (or ‘The Collector’s lair’ as Philip calls it), there are five circular indentations. They may be other places for Hooty to have emerged from, but people speculated they were actually meant for five Collector discs we’ve seen. And, well...
Tumblr media
It appears there were five Collectors (or more specifically, one Collector and four Archivists). The fate of the Archivists is not specified; The Collector says ‘They’re not here’ in response to Luz’s death... But keep in mind, this is them just now realizing that death is a thing. So just as they believe and were likely told the Archivists ‘took away’ people who died (not unlike how the living were preserved in scrolls, per their title)... It’s possible they believed the Archivists had simply left, when in reality, they had been wiped out by the Titans in their war, a mutual genocide.
After all, we know Titan magic is able to cancel out that of the Archivists’, so it’s not a stretch to imagine they had a fighting chance; The Archivists did rely on the Titan Trappers for help, so they were clearly aware of their shortcomings. And just as one side made trophies out of remnants of the other...
What if these discs are basically Archivist corpses? That upon death, their bodies reverted into these tiny, glass-like artifacts; And the Titan, OUR Titan, stored them inside of his skull, relying on Hooty to organize the discs for him. Five discs... For five Collectors.
But as we know, the Titan didn’t kill OUR Collector; She spared him. Although she does frame this as an act of passion, committed out of vengeance; So did she want revenge, but still had enough sense to not kill this kid?
Anyhow, we have this theorized precedent for living things becoming glass discs after death. Perhaps like the Titan’s eye, which Hooty held onto, and later brought with him when Dell invited him into the Owl Tower? Likewise, if these discs are crystallized Archivist corpses, that might explain their connection to the Collector, given they are kin, and there’s still some leftover magic.
This does raise the implications of the Titan Trappers’ disc being shattered. And to be honest... I think it was just broken. There are reasons why Belos wrapped the Collector’s disc in his old cloak; It was him getting rid of a wretched part of his past, and silencing the kid. But the way the Collector’s disc lands, caught on the cloak and not hitting the ground... It makes me wonder if the animators showed it this way, to suggest that if it weren’t for the cloak catching it, the disc would’ve hit the ground and shattered upon impact.
Tumblr media
That could be the very simple explanation behind Bill’s disc being broken; Nothing to do with an Archivist being freed, I hope... But if they are alive and out there, perhaps they all escaped their prisons and fled into the cosmos, abandoning the Collector.
So to put things together into a general timeline...!
The Timeline
The Archivists seek to preserve life, converting them into scrolls you can read, hence their name. They travel from planet to planet, with the policy that if the natives resist preservation, they’ve essentially embraced the alternative that is death; So may as well help them get it over with! Hence the genocide as retaliation.
The Archivists eventually spot the Demon Realm, and send in their little kid, the Collector, as a Trojan Horse; Someone who can scout out the place for them, provide intel, and make the Titans think the rest of his kind are trustworthy. The Collector plays with the fellow kids, expresses interest in one egg still waiting to hatch, but isn’t allowed to play just yet. Eventually, the Archivists strike... Only to discover their magic is countered by the Titans’.
Still, they don’t give up; They enlist the help of puny mortal witches (among them Bill), creating the first generation of Titan Trappers to help them. The alliance between Archivists and Titan Trappers succeeds in commencing a brutal genocide; And at some point during this war, one Archivist targets the Owl Beast, and turns it into a scroll. However, they lose the scroll, which ends up in the boiling ocean, drifting for millennia until an unsuspecting trash-cleaner picks it up...
Tumblr media
The Archivists use their viscous forms, resembling the darkness of space, to restrain the Titans, so their Titan Trapper allies can land the mortal blow. In response, OUR Titan fights back alongside the others, and one by one, the Archivists fall; Upon death, their magic fades and leaves behind only a little crystalline disc. Our Titan’s parasite, Hooty, swallows and stores them inside of his skull, which has a decorated living quarters he carved out himself! We know from Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door that he built an entire underground love tunnel for Luz and Amity... Storing the discs causes Hooty to form a connection with the moon (one that can be invoked during a Moonlight Conjuring), just as the Archivists once had.
As for the Collector, our Titan feels resentful and blames him for the genocide of her people, but doesn’t commit to killing them, despite having five slots, for five Archivists; Instead, she imprisons him in the in-between. Likewise, her egg is kept safe in a hidden Titan nursery, using a glyph (possibly an undiscovered combo, or the glyph of another Titan entirely) to hide it from the Archivists; Jean-Luc is placed as a guardian.
The war continues, until our Titan is the last one left, but has successfully killed the last Archivist in battle. However, their Titan Trapper allies collect the disc left behind in their death, forcing a wounded Titan to flee, but not before she blows out Bill’s ear drums. She succumbs to her injuries, lying down and mourning the child she left behind; And upon death, her spirit lingers in the in-between, for her heart still beats. Unable to interact with the world of the living, she relies on cubes to see what is going on there, and eventually regrets imprisoning the Collector; But despite her search across millennia, she cannot find the Collector’s prison in this infinite chasm.
Tumblr media
Poor Hooty is left behind, and like the Bat Queen, loses his memories over time; Possibly the result of physical trauma like her, and/or time taking a toll on his psychology (Amity states House Demons go crazy after a while). At one point, he captures a Stonesleeper during the Hektaceous period to keep as a pet, hoping to soothe his loneliness; And eventually, leaves the Titan’s eye socket, bored and without purpose. With the Titan’s crystallized eye stored in his stomach, Hooty heads down to the mandible, where some leftover food is there for him to scavenge upon...
Meanwhile, Bill uses the disc the Titan Trappers found to communicate with the Collector. Bill worships the Collector as the Grand Huntsman, recognizing them as kin of the Archivists. The Collector explains only a Titan can free them and expresses interest in the egg they wanted to play with, and Bill interprets the mission to find the Titan’s egg as a continuation of the genocide the Archivists ordered. However, the disc he has is broken, cutting contact with Bill and the Collector. Undeterred, the Titan Trappers eventually locate the Titan’s corpse, but are unable to find her egg and give up, returning home. Every now and then, a Titan Trapper visits the isles for clues.
Even more time passes, witches evolve and spread across the Boiling Isles, etc. Others visit the skull and find the other three discs, but only two are taken away; The witches who find these discs discover they can communicate with an enigmatic entity known as the Collector through them, but ultimately get sick of the kid and shatter their discs. Nevertheless, someone makes note of the Collector’s existence, and their connection to the discs, of which only one is known to be left intact in the skull; Philip Wittebane comes across these notes, which also record how the Collector taught this witch powerful magic.
Inspired, he heads to the skull, only to come across the Stonesleeper that Hooty left behind; Not wanting to risk his own skin, Philip relies on other witches, including Blue Fang, as bait to distract the Stonesleeper, but to no avail. He eventually enlists Luz and Lilith, and they manage to survive long enough for Philip to escape with the final disc. He also kills Hooty’s pet, using its lungs to make the first Grimwalker of Caleb...
Tumblr media
Flash forward a few centuries, and Dell visits the mandible, meeting Hooty. He befriends the primordial parasite, who has shrunken over time due to a lack of nutrition; The Titan’s body has decayed quite a bit. Hooty explains how he lives in the area, and found some pretty weird things there that he shows off. Dell takes him back to his home in the right arm, building a tower for Hooty to inhabit, a new house for him to guard, and he places the Titan’s eye as a window. When his daughter Eda is cursed, Dell decides to head back to the mandible, in case there’s something in the area that could help... Until his eye is clawed out by the Owl Beast, that is; Coming back after all this millennia!
Feeling guilt over Dell’s injuries as well as shame by her mother over the curse, Eda moves out of the house, since Lilith has already left for the Emperor’s Coven, so there’s nobody left for her there. She finds Dell’s old tower, meets Hooty, and rebuilds the structure into our titular Owl House... And the rest is history!

Since 100 Feet and a World Away got submitted to the Separated AU Comp (thanks whoever submitted!) and now some people are going through my tag I thought I would just throw down a little scribble to introduce you all to Leo and Mikey in the AU! I’m just doing this on my phone so sorry it is not fancy lol
If you’re new to the AU just check out my 100 Feet and a World Away tag! I have a lore post in my pinned as well.
I’m just building this thing as I go lol~
———
They don’t muzzle Leo on the walk back to his room this time, because he’s munching on watermelon.
He doesn’t care about it much. The watermelon is just a carrot - not literally, obviously, but metaphorically. Leo doesn’t care about the carrot, because the stick is an electric cattle prod and it’s aimed right at his little brother.
But he was good today. Did what he was supposed to. And if he keeps some watermelon in his mouth they won’t muzzle him, so he takes little bites and tries not to show too much teeth as he does it.
The humans don’t like seeing his teeth.
They open the door and push him inside. He’s made to go through his normal routine: weight, height, pupil check, reflexes. They let him keep the watermelon throughout it today.
Then they lead him up the steps over the concrete wall to the shallow pool that is his home and unlock his collar.
The collar is another stick. Like the cattle prod, it shocks.
After it’s been pulled from his neck, he wades through the water to the rocks in the middle. Mikey is curled up there, eyes closed and breath even. Leo doesn’t know how he can sleep when humans are in the room.
He runs a hand over Mikey’s arm to rouse him, watching his little brother yawn and crack open an eye. He always waits for Leo to speak first; when Leo says nothing, he knows it’s not safe.
He sits up, then tilts his head at Leo, eyes still sleepy. Leo can’t help but smile, close lipped so there’s no teeth. Even with his back to the humans, he can’t risk it.
He holds out his partially eaten watermelon.
Mikey’s eyes light up; he reaches out and breaks a hunk off with his fingers, eating it slowly and with relish.
“See?” Leo hears one of the humans say. “It’s exhibiting sharing behaviors.”
“So do rats, Tim,” says the other. “It’s not that special.”
Leo ignores them, pushing the watermelon toward Mikey to urge him to take more. Mikey looks at it, then raises his eyes to meet Leo’s.
He pushes the watermelon back.
Leo frowns, shoving the watermelon back at Mikey with more force. Shakes it a little. Mikey’s mouth gains a defiant twist and he shakes his head.
Leo suppresses a sigh - it would be too human of a gesture. Instead he just tears off a hunk of the watermelon and shoves it in his mouth.
Mikey smiles again. He doesn’t bother hiding his teeth. He takes more of the watermelon.
“They’re well socialized,” says one of the humans, and the other hums in agreement.
“I made you something,” says Mikey later, when the humans have gone home for the night. He moves away from where he was laying before, revealing a pattern of lines etched in the dirt.
“Look! It’s you!” He points. “Here’s your eyes… and your chin… and your marks!”
Leo thinks he can see it. The crescent moons over the little circles are his eyes and markings, the bigger circle the rest of his face. Leo doesn’t know anything about this - drawings, Mikey said - but he thinks Mikey must be pretty good at it.
Because Mikey is his little brother and he’s incredible, of course.
“Hey yeah!” Leo says with enthusiasm. “Almost as pretty as the real me.”
He’s going to have to destroy it later, but he doesn’t say that, because Mikey is beaming.
Instead he says, “Next time I give you food, will you just eat it?”
Mikey’s face falls anyway, so it didn’t matter. “You have to eat, too.”
“I do eat.”
“Those yucky nutrition blocks,” says Mikey, crinkling his nose.
“Hey, I like ‘em,” Leo lies. “That’s why I don’t mind giving you my watermelon.”
Mikey is still frowning. He shuffles back a little on the rock.
“…You don’t have to protect me all the time,” he says.
Leo’s grin doesn’t falter, doesn’t slip, no matter how much it hurts. He can’t afford it.
He reaches over and pulls Mikey into a headlock, ignoring all protests as he rubs his knuckles, hard, against the top of Mikey’s head.
“Of course I do,” he says, chuckling in the face of Mikey’s flailing. “What kind of big brother would I be if I didn’t?”

alone on christmas day
Tumblr media
kdrama! sieun x reader
// reader (and friends) accompany a lonely sieun on christmas.
tags: lonely sieun, mentions of feeling unlovable, sieun being an anti-romantic (kinda?), mentions of a bad parental relationship, sieun made friends without literally risking his life multiple times AU
note: i thought of this while listening to my goofy-ass christmas playlist LMFAOOOO, underneath the tree came on and i had to restrain myself from busting a move. anyway happy holidays <3333
sieun woke up like every other morning, not phased by the knowledge that there was no school today. in fact, for once, he was glad- it was incredibly cold, as showcased by the snow outside his window.
he got out of bed and did his usual routine, brushing his teeth and having a nutritional meal before prepping his desk to start another long, long day of studies. it would’ve been the same as any other day, except, nowadays he’s more prone to checking his phone (during breaks, of course) more than he ever really does.
he picks up his phone, opening his messages to find several text messages from his friends: sooho, youngyi, and you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
his mouth twitches at your text, almost turning into a small smile, but he can’t help but feel unbelieving at your words. he’s used to disappointment.
the more he studied, the more he was reminded of his loneliness- when he was watching youtube, christmas themed ads would pop up, showcasing happy families spending time together, advertising their family fried chicken meals. his workbooks would use winter-themed examples, and, he would catch himself thinking about how the red of his journal cover reminded him of candy canes. he gradually felt hungry, but not for chicken. the few times his brain would let him show vulnerability, it showcased how completely starving he was for love. platonic or not. he hated that a tiny piece of his soul would not give up along with the rest of him.
hours went by and he eventually forgot about your message, not bothering to check his phone or take breaks, getting entranced and pulled into his work. that was what made him all the more jumpier when he heard a very sudden and loud knock at the door.
hours went by and he eventually forgot about your message, not bothering to check his phone or take breaks, getting entranced and pulled into his work. that was what made him all the more jumpier when he heard a very sudden and loud knock at the door.
as he approached the door, he heard multiple voices behind it, and he grew suspicious. he hoped it was his friends, but at the same time didn't want to put faith into something that could disappoint him as easily as his parents do.
“-said that you should buy one family pack! why’d you buy so many? who has the stomach to eat three?” one voice exclaimed. “i do! i could eat ten meals! why do you always complai-“ the second voice was cut off by a third one, “both of you shut up!! we’re supposed to be surprising him, not making sure he hears us from kilometers away!”
sieun peaked through the peephole to be met with blackness. the person- or people- were blocking the tiny circular hole. unlocking the door slowly, he opened it to be met with three familiar faces.
“surprise!!” they cheered in unison. he didn’t say anything. they didn’t say anything.
finally, the tallest boy spoke up, “yah, let us in, i don’t wanna smell like friend chicken.” sooho pushed past him with three boxes in his arms, and sieun could only stare as youngyi greeted him with a "what's up?", giving him a quick shoulder pat and following close behind sooho. lastly, you stood at the door smiling at sieun. “are you surprised!? well, probably not since i literally told you i was coming, but you didn’t expect this, right? we even brought decorations so we can-“ you stopped talking when you noticed sieun’s face. he was frowning, tears building up in his eyes before they spilt, running down his cheek. stepping inside and closing the door behind you, your heart dropped to your stomach at his display of emotions.
“sieun? what’s wrong? is it ‘cause of us?” you spoke, ignoring the lighthearted argument sooho and youngyi were having about how to hang up the christmas lights in the background. he shook his head and wiped his face with his sleeves before speaking. “just.. thank you.” he couldn’t meet your eyes as you smiled at him, engulfing him in a hug, placing your head in the crook of his neck. “of couuuurse sieun.” your heart almost exploded when you felt the way he placed his arms around you, carefully hovering just above your touch.
“yahh, stop flirting you two!” youngyi called out to you both, waving you over. “we’re about to eat!”
-
the four of you were now watching a christmas movie, the now empty boxes of fried chicken long forgotten. the lights were off (except for the red and green fairy lights strung about the room) and blankets you’d brought from home were strewn about. sooho sat on the couch, youngyi laying down with her head on the opposite armrest, her legs on his lap. the two of them seemed to have fallen asleep a while ago, their soft snores filling the room along with the noise of the television. you and sieun sat next to each other in front of the couch, sharing a blanket. you originally didn’t know whether to keep your distance from him- you tried to clench your thighs close together to keep from his legs touching yours, but as time went by, you became less and less hyperaware, and now freely relaxed your legs, your arms and legs making comfortable contact with each other.
“hey, sieun,” you whispered, not taking your eyes off the screen. he turned his head toward you, as if to say “hm?”, “i hope you had fun with us,” you said, “im sorry if we intruded or anything. i just didn’t want you to be alone on christmas.. we all care about you a lot, so don’t ever hesitate to ask us if you need company. i-" you paused, correcting yourself, "we love you a lot.” he kept quiet for a few seconds before responding. “thank you, [name].” your heart melted at the way he said your name with such gentleness.
you didn’t say anything, your emotions clouding your previously clear head. you slowly moved your arm, squeezing in between his arm and torso before he moved it upwards curiously, before wrapping your arm around his. you didn’t stop there, leaning your head onto his shoulder.
“is this.. is this okay?” you spoke so quietly you thought you might have to repeat yourself. but you didn’t, he heard you loud and clear. “yes,” he mumbled in response. your stomach burst with butterflies, and a smile creeped onto your face. “okay,” you said, moving your forearm to find his hand, grabbing and intertwining his fingers with yours.
in that moment, sieun felt his body heat up with your warmth, your action sending waves of butterflies in his stomach. he felt foolish for what he’d thought earlier, that love was not meant for him. in this moment, he could feel your love, and he knew it wasn’t for anyone but him.

Thinking about what kinds of foods Timmy and Tango could reasonably have access to: As well as rotten flesh and spider eyes, a mob farm set up for player kills would also occasionally drop carrots and potatoes. In addition, it would occasionally spawn chicken jockeys. If they have access to moss and moss-replaceable-blocks, they would also have access to wheat and seeds (so chicken + eggs eventually), plus sticks for fishing rods, and if they had access to any water sources that means fish
OHHH… this is so fun to think about. there’s a lot of little nuances to hels that make survival difficult (ramble incoming)
so a mob farm would be a great source of food- if a player can gather enough resources and space to build one, and it’s left undisturbed long enough to actually be used. for tango and timmy, who can’t stay in one place for very long, it’s not really an option.
in fact, for most of hels, mob farms are a tall order. lots of hels players will grief one as soon as they see it; it’s like an anarchy server that way. the only way to make one is to be part of a relatively structured community that enforces rules on its citizens, such as new helington, or to go so far into the wilds of hels that no one else disturbs you (and i’m talking like, HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of blocks away from spawn).
water is a bit tricky. hels isn’t the nether in that water still exists and can be placed down, but natural sources of water are scarce. rivers and lakes tend to be lava more often than not, and oceans are extremely rare. but hels players can fish from them! tango and timmy have fish in the little drabble i did. the issue is that in hels, fish will not spawn in an artificially-created water source. so if you filled a bunch of buckets up with water and made an artificial pond somewhere else, it wouldn’t spawn fish. this makes the few oceans a hotspot for activity, which is quite dangerous (as tango and timmy found out).
now, crops. crops can technically grow in hels, like in the nether, but they don’t grow very well. the soil has a tendency to revert back to dirt and even with water nearby, growth is extremely slow. hels is a pretty hostile environment to plants (all the grass and trees are kinda brown and wilted, except for crimson and warped forests which thrive). it’s more complicated than tilling some dirt next to water; in order to create the right conditions for crops to grow, you need a well-controlled greenhouse- which again, isn’t an option for many players.
building off that, grass has an extremely rare chance of dropping seeds when broken, due to the poor nutritional value of the dirt. beetroot is basically extinct (not that it’s a huge loss). moss is a great source for those who can find some, but- unsurprisingly- lush caves are rare, too. tango and timmy certainly haven’t come across one.
and finally, the animal problem. you know how in the life series, the players would kill all the animals on day one, and then no more animals would ever spawn? i think it has something to do with chunk loading, and that applies in hels, too. there are so many players in hels (it’s an infinite world that gains new players frequently and no one ever really leaves) so the chunks clustered around spawn are always being loaded by someone. players have to go to very distant unloaded chunks to find animals, and it’s risky to bring any back; there’s a high chance of them being killed by fire, lava, fall damage, hostile mobs, and even other players out of spite- if they can’t be easily stolen.
CHICKEN JOCKEYS. SMART. if you have a player-kill mob farm operated by someone actually paying attention, you could successfully extract the chicken and, after a few eggs are laid, have a proper chicken farm. i’m sure new helington has one of those set up, as does any other community that’s able to have a mob farm.
in a nutshell, i’m sure there are a few successful farms (mob, crop, and animal) located way, waaaaaay out there in hels, created by players that fled to the less populated chunks. but for the majority of the population, who are more concentrated around the spawn chunks, the options are limited to hostile mob drops (cause hostile mobs still spawn everywhere) or having a secure food supply from someone powerful in an organized community (ie. new helington gets its main food supply from hels!vintage beef, who works with alisker in return for protection for his cow herd).
PHEW. thanks for the chance to ramble B)

As delicious as it is, cooked food doesn't really do much for Khare. The cooking process breaks down the DNA found in meat and other animal products meaning that it actually becomes less nutritional for her. It's the building blocks of life that her body needs to slow down the mutation process, digesting what she consumes instead of attacking her own body's DNA. She hasn't had much reason to eat raw just yet as cooking is a longterm staple of humanity, but a good raw steak will do her so much better than some leftover scraps from the kitchen.
