Because we all love a powerful Prince of the Underworld Nico di Angelo

So today I give you this: Nico with his personal shadow guards.

I literally died and transcended to Heaven when I read the “my prince” part, but that’s a side story. The main story is that the Nico in this is a badass with freaking Achilles and Patroclus as his personal guards I’m akshaakdhajdhajsh—— literally rejoicing. I’m so close to kneeling down in front of him and declaring my undying loyalty.

Before I give you the name, though:

- This is in a Jercy (side Solangelo), ABO, explicit fanfic. Yeah I have no idea why it’s always Jercy fanfic, either. But it’s not like I care. I can read everything as long as it has Nico and it just so happens that this Nico is my obsession.

- He’s a badass. He’s cute. He’s the voice of wisdom. He appears in three scenes in total but he is everything I love. I regret nothing.

- Nico is an Alpha at first and Omega later. Same for Percy. It makes sense in the context, I swear.

- Graphic mature scenes. I mostly skip it so I don’t have any particular warning, but anyway proceed with caution.

- And last but not least, Solangelo is a healthy couple and so is Jercy.

im just chilling going through the solangelo tag so heres some lil thoughts that have been provoked from such activities

-parallel between percy and annabeth standing/sitting back to back in tartarus when they finally can rest bc they have each others backs to nico and will in tsats fighting back to back bc they've both been stabbed in the back enough already

-nico is a literal fucking sewer rat kind of (in the most loving way ofc) but also hes not he literally glows with alt and gothic beauty and has a beautiful accent and an amazing smile and smooth, milky skin and will (who is kind of a beautifully groomed golden retriever) is actually a fucking dumpster dog who jumped out at him when nico was hiding in the alley and hasnt left his side since

-will watched nico let an anemic fucking loser launch himself into the atmosphere and immediately and immensely fell in love and nico took one look at the hand that still has amniotic sac fluid on it holding his and thought 'holy shit i wanna kiss him'

-apollo literally saying 'i dont care if my son has a boyfriend. i've had a lot. and compared to some of mine, holy SHIT could will be doing worse' and i think thats great

-nico and will are not achilles and patroclus they are apollo and hycanth and apollo literally mentioned the similarities he saw in the relationships and im POSITIVE hades sees it too and is so so scared for his son because he saw what losing someone he loved that much did to apollo

-even tho they're not quite achilles and patroclus their love and wrath for the otehrs death would still be enough to shake the gods and im fully convinced zues sat hades down one day and was like 'listen dude you gotta protect the little blonde kid. i dont wanna go through that again' and hades was like 'lol pussy. gotchu tho'

-william andrew solace who is the LITERAL son of sunshine and has magic glow powers and is the best medic the camp has had in years would and probably has poke an infected creature of unidentified species and decide that it’s probably maybe not poisonous and bring it to his bf because why not

-also he definitely has/will have full sleeves of tattoos on both arms and a bunch on his legs and back and they will have absolutely no specific meaning or reason or order (other than the star on his shoulderblade for his first and only love and the sun on his chest for himself)

-nico would get a lot of tattoos but they’d all mean something to him (things bianca used to like, the groups initials, etc)

-william andrew solace was born and raised in fuckin texas with his single rocker mama (who was ALSO born and raised in texas) and is an overworked med student and has gone through all that shit he’s been through by 15. that bitch is a fucking DICK. he will cut you for touching his stuff and if you’re a dick he will absolutely NOT treat you (‘i havent sworn under oath yet as a doctor, chiron’) and he has absolutely pulled a gun on someone back home for the dumbest shit

-nico is a fucking softie don’t lie. he spends one third of his time crying, the other third waxing poetic about his boyfriend will doing normal day shit, and the last third convincing his dickhead sunshine boyfriend to treat the guy with poison ivy because ‘he called me weird, will, that’s not even that insulting’

-kayla and austin have definitely thrown them in the lake. multiple times. it’s a past time at this point. leo has helped on a few occasions and lester did once only to be fucking decked by his son in law for messing up the snack he made for will while will lost his shit laughing in the back

Reasons I don't like Rick Riordan:

Chiron's characterization. This son of a titan raised so many actual, mythological Greek heroes (Achilles, Patroclus, Odysseus, Heracles, Jason, I could go on) and he did it damn well. He's not just gonna send a bunch of kids into a war with absolutely zero context on it, and he's not just going to abandon them when they leave camp. If you want to write a book about Greek mythology, taking characters from Greek mythology, then maybe you should actually read some Greek mythology.

Nico's existence. Hades is famous for being the one guy who never cheated on his wife. The one person who tried to sleep with him got turned into a mint plant. Nico cannot exist in Greek mythology because Hades would never sleep with Maria.

Athena having kids. Athena is a maiden goddess. She doesn't sleep with men. She thus cannot have biological children. Even if we are going the magic route, she still likely wouldn't even give a man a second (or let's be honest, first) glance.

Ares wouldn't lose. Ares wouldn't lose to an experienced fighter like Heracles or Achilles, he won't lose to some random kid, even if the kid IS a child of Poseidon.

His one Muslim character worships a god who is not Allah. This is against Muslim religion. She is a Valkyrie. This is against Muslim religion. She takes off her hijab in front of men who are not her biological and/or legal family. This is against Muslim religion.

He blocked fans who asked him (politely) to apologize, explain or even acknowledge his wrongdoings.

I could make more of these if people want them. I'm autistic and one of my fixations is Greek mythology (Notably NOT Percy Jackson) so I know a thing or two, and I'm literally part Scandinavian so I can slander Magnus Chase with my whole heart and soul.

If you want a good Norse mythology book, read the Iron Druid series. Leif is an absolute icon and his relationship with Hal is everything you could want in a ship, platonic or romantic. Atticus' dog is adorable and, as much as Atticus himself irritates me sometimes,

I've been reading 'The Song Of Achilles ' and couldn't help but notice the parallels with Brocedes. Achilles and Patroculus in terms of physical traits and other qualities are very similar to Nico and Lewis. Achilles with his Golden hair and golden skin -Nico. Patroculus with his dark hair and skin-Lewis. They were childhood bestfriends; raised by Achilles' (Nico's,) dad .(not literally in Brocedes case). Achilles was the son of a Godess (Nico's world Champion Dad). Achilles is described to be extremely loyal and will sacrifice for his family and friends; as Nico was in his earlier years for Mercedes. (I guess). But then apparently Achilles is also Vengeful and easily angered (reminded me of the cap throwing incident)...Patroculus(Lewis) was fundamentally kind but the only one who could criticize and go against Achilles.. Lastly, the fact that I'm talking about Greek mythology and the fact that one of the most iconic Brocedes bromance moments is about an ACTUAL vacation in Greece is just the cherry on top. Hence, proved that they are the Achilles and Patroculus of our generation. Guess we'll never know if it was a Friendship so pure or a Romance for the books..

Nico... being ethnic Italian... and knowing less about his own culture than some white american author who can barely write does? Please. Just because Americans learn the "bestie bro" version of myths doesn't mean Mediterranean people are as stupid as you are 💀

I mean he grew up catholic and in the 1930s, and many historians still argue about the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus so I figured that Nuns in the 1930s wouldn’t teach it. Not to mention how a myth that CANONICALLY had mlm in it was completely changed to be hetero is what he learned as well.

I don’t know why you’re so pressed about my post, it was just for fun and a silly little idea to make Nico feel better. I’m not sure what him being ethnically Italian has to do with me saying he should read SOA, or how Italian culture relates to that (maybe that it was a Greek story, the Roman’s adopted Greek culture, and Italy is now Rome? Idk). And there are many people who still fully believe that Achilles and Patroclus are brothers/bestie bros, including Italian people and especially catholic people, who Nico was taught by.

I don’t know why the insults against Rick’s writing were necessary, but it is actually very plausible Nico isn’t aware of his own culture. He was still a little kid when Maria moved him and Bianca to America, and he practically grew up in the Lotus Hotel, on the streets, and partially at CHB. Not to mention he can’t use the internet, so there’d be no way for him to actually research it. The only time he’s ever been to Italy was when he was kidnapped there, and he hasn’t been back since.

And maybe all Mediterranean people fully believe that Achilles and Patroclus were lovers now (which I HIGHLY doubt, and I’m not calling them stupid for thinking they weren’t), but they certainly didn’t in the 1930s when Nico lived there.

I’ll be honest I don’t know what they’re teaching in Italy now, but calling me stupid (when I also agree Achilles and Patroclus were lovers???) just because makes no sense. Literally don’t know what I did to offend you or why you’re insulting me and Rick when we didn’t do anything to you but talk about the idea that he didn’t know, which Nico probably doesn’t. Please feel free to open your mind, literally and figuratively.

I have said it before and I know I’ll probably end up saying it again, but Achilles and Patroclus are not “strong warrior and soft healer” !! and they are certainly not comparable to Will and Nico!! I don’t expect everyone to read The Iliad but PLEASE understand that The Song of Achilles is under no circumstances a canon representation of Achilles and Patroclus’s dynamic. They are both brutal and ruthless warriors, that’s like their whole thing. That is the point of The Iliad. Attempting to characterize them as anything other than that so you can attempt to argue that Nico and Will have a paralleled dynamic is a misrepresentation of ALL of those characters <3

AND THERE IS ALREADY AN ILIAD PARALLEL IN PJO!! Silena and Clarisse!! It’s literally right there, so please stop trying to uwu-ize Patroclus because you can only conceptualize one mlm dynamic.

nico di angelo headcanons bc i want to:

- nico turns into such a music junkie eventually. the apollo cabin finds out he's missed seventy years of music and loses it. this kid has never heard the hits. once he does it's over. he constantly has music around him, it makes his look so much more alive.

- point blank cannot call himself gay for years. he tries like, super hard but it makes him twitchy so he sticks to being vague and private and usually says "i like guys" if asked.

- if he spend enough time outside in the sun his natural tan comes back!! he does not spend enough time in the sun.

- my boy. this poor boy. has no fucking clue what mental health is. nobody told him shit about it until like, will, who took one look at this kid and said "lol therapy time bitch". and then spent several hours giving a lecture on what mental health is and there's nothing wrong with you this is a thing that happens. nico fully sobbed for the first time in years when he heard the words "it's not your fault. there's nothing wrong with you."

- accidentally befriended achilles and patroclus in the underworld when nico was like. twelve. both of them look at him, then each other, then back at him and said "this is my son now", and got half of the underworld to protect this kid.

- this particular thing happens a lot. nico radiates son energy and half of his contacts are now his parents.

- this is a long winded way of saying he is so loved at doesn't realize it.

- speaking of contacts though! nico is literally the person that can and will get you anything as long as you don't ask questions. the numbers in his phone all have super cryptic names and he will not elaborate on anything of the. highlights include: bloody marty, yellow, mistake, jerk, NO

- he does not like physical contact unless he initiates it. this is a well known fact that was put to the test when somebody tried to prank him and ended up with crushed fingers and a stab wound. nico refused to apologize.

- nico is a big fan of existing in a space together, especially after nightmares and/or panic attacks. he doesn't want to talk he wants to be alone with somebody else in the room. he likes doings this specifically with: jason, annabeth, sometimes percy, and later on will

- he's fluent in asl and tries to sign while talking as much as he can just in case

- so autistic. like. unbelievable. could not pass as neurotypical. has no idea and thinks he's weird :(

- melts down his sword into daggers that he brings everywhere. he has hades symbol carved into them. they're badass as fuck.

- weird fighting style that is literally just. everything mixed together. he sought out the best fighters in the underworld and sparred with them until he picked up their fighting styles.

- he will collect shiny things. he will put them in a box. he will not talk about this.

“What’s your name?” he asks, morbidly curious. “I’m Percy. Uh—he/him.”

The pretty person grins.

“Leo,” they say, and wave him away. “Literally anything you want.”
