Hey, neurodiverse witches/pagans!
Have you ever considered involving your hyperfixation/special interest in your craft/as offerings?
Well, you should!
I watch OFMD and GO, my two favorite shows, in honor of Aphrodite! Both are rom-coms, so that’s just one reason. But the love I have for those shows as my hyperfixations is overflowing at points, and sometimes I’ll just stim freely in honor of the Goddess, the bringer of joy! I’ve also found that listening to The Theme That Got Left In The Car from GO whenever I’m doing glamour magic/affirmations really helps! Even in writing (and I will admit that I do some fanfiction cause let’s be real a lot of you do but just won’t admit it), including references to Aphrodite or even cameos of Her in certain AUs works as a solid offering!
Your craft is your own. Practice how you see fit, do what feels right for you. Mwah 💋

Low Energy Witchcraft
I'm neurodivergent and i experience really intense burnout. I get to a point where I struggle to even get out of bed, take my meds, remember to drink water, let alone practice. But, when I want to practice i have a list of things i can usually do. Everyone's experiences with burn out/low energy are different so this list may not apply to you, and that's okay. Take what resonates, leave what doesn't and i hope you enjoy my silly little list :)
create a playlist and infuse it with an intention. eg, a money spell playlist filled with songs about wealth.
draw sigils with soap when in the shower. (you can also use a wet wipe if you can't shower)
found some juice? give it a little shake and use the ingredients as a spell.
have food that has grains as ingredients? wow! an abundance spell!
the classic add intention to your tea and coffee.
bind your hair. for me with is as simple as putting my hair in a ponytail.
watch a witchy video. while not technically practising witchcraft, sometimes all you need is to sit back and relax to connect with your practice.
when I have a decent amount of energy I'll grab a large pillar candle and carve sigils into it. I use it as a long-term spell; all I have to do to activate it is light the candle. I like to light one of these spell candles when I'm having a bad day.
if you're religious, pray. Even if you're lying in bed. Even if you haven't showered in a week. If it makes you happy and you can, do it
burn some insence! it smells good, you don't have to really worry about forgetting about it, it's good for cleansing. it's great!
take a nap with some crystals. any restorative crystals or calming crystals work great! just make sure that they aren't geodes or roughs. i'd hate for you to hurt yourself while sleeping.
if you don't have any crystals for your nap, set an intention instead. please let yourself rest.
It's important to remember that you're allowed to take breaks from your craft. If you're forcing yourself to practice when you have no energy because "that's what a good witch would do!" then you're probably going to make your situation worse. it's a great way to fall out of love with witchcraft. give yourself some grace. rest is infinitely more important than 1 full moon, 1 new moon, or missing your daily/weekly/monthly cleanse. You aren't a bad person if you don't pull your morning tarot card or check the astrology forecast for today. and you aren't a bad person if you miss your daily prayer. take care of yourself. your health is WAY more important than your craft. Go get a drink of water and take care of yourself <3

Meditation and ADHD
Now, I know what you may be thinking seeing this: "Corvid, I can't meditate! My body won't let me!"-- I can tell you now, confidently, that you're meditating wrong if you think meditation about the emptiness of your mind and doing nothing. When you feel your muscles are weak, what do you do? Exercise them. Your brain is no different then the rest of your body-- You need to 'stretch' or exercise it to make it stronger. Though I'm not talking about doing word puzzles or even listening to music, which are proven to improve brain function. We're here to talk about meditation and how you can start to work meditation into your daily life. Disclaimer: I myself have ADHD and these tips and tricks have worked wonders for me. If they don't for you, try a different approach.
Start off slow. Set a goal of three to five minutes a day. It'll seem like a lot at first but gradually it will get easier. If your thoughts wander or you can't sit still, don't worry-- This is completely normal. The goal is to merely observe your mind and how it functions and bring yourself back to focus when you notice it wander.
With that being said, please give yourself grace and leniency. Throughout your session, you may want to fidget or stretch, scratch that itch or count the black specks in the grout of your tiled kitchen floor. It happens. Instead of abandoning or saying that you failed, be kind to yourself and just continue. Scratch the itch and return to calm; stretch and maybe find a more comfortable position. Even if you feel you 'failed' the session, keep up with it and keep trying.
Find what you deem as a comfortable place to meditate. You could sit in your favorite chair, you could lie down with your favorite blanket, etc. You should loosen the tension in your muscles and make sure they're relaxed. If you cannot comfortably sit still, try a repetitive, 'autopilot' task like going for a walk. My favorite (and easiest) thing to do is focus on my breathing and the breaths I take. Some people listen to music. In time, you'll figure out what you find comfortable.
Being in a comfortable space also means pay attention to what you're wearing. It may be harder to let your mind relax if the waistband of your pants is digging into your skin or your sweater is itchy. The same thing goes for earrings that pull down on your ears too much or shoes that feel tight. Wear what you find comfortable and lessen the distractions.
When you notice your mind wandering from you in the moment, simply acknowledge the thought and return your attention to your task (walking, breathing, etc). Accept that minds are meant to think and give yourself permission to have a wandering mind. Don’t judge yourself for having thoughts or focus your attention on them.
Quiet is relative. Not everyone has a peaceful environment so the goal is to lessen the distractions as much as possible. Turn off your phone, close your bedroom door, put pets in another room, whatever you can and need to do.
When your session is complete, don't just jerk yourself back to reality. Give yourself and your body the time it needs to come back to the present. Doesn't matter if you meditated for one minute or one hour, take your time-- If your eyes were closed, slowly open them; if you were on a walk, take an extra couple of minutes to get home; etc.
Find a body double-- If they're willing to meditate with you, that's amazing. If not, have them hold you accountable for the task and make sure you do it. Set up a regular, daily time to do so and use one of the many meditation apps out there nowadays.
The take away that I hope you get from this is that you don't have to clear your mind or be blank or not move an inch. Allow yourself to do whatever you feel you need to do and then return back to the mindfulness that is meditation. Be kind to yourself and don't 'should' yourself; I never said this would be easy, I just said it was possible.

I know about the gods and I don’t need to read books to learn about them, my gods are right here beside me.
I mean, I DO read books. But they're not necessary. The gods have spoken to us since before writing. Since before language.

Things I've done to accommodate my autism and dyslexia
No raw wood. Every wood surface is either coated chipboard, covered or varnished so it's smooth. I can not touch raw or rough wood without feeling like it's going through my fingernails. The same texture issues apply to my feet. Carpet and sock all the time.
No big light, only little or natural light and blackout curtains in my room to block any light from street lamps at night and the sun when I get a migraines.
No analogue clocks, the ticking noise will make me go insane.
Minimal music all the time and a lighter and scented candles when I smell something nasty.
Invest in an e-reader tablet to read books. Even thought I still read physical books regularly for research and for fun this helps when I'm having a bad day but still want to read and takes up less space. also e-books are cheaper.
Clean regularly and go through my stuff every season to get rid of clutter. dirt and mess make me itch and clutter make me feel like I'm suffocating.
Keep my earrings in a clear container, make up in clear organisers and my necklaces hung on a bookshelf with thumbtacks so I can see everything and remember it exists.
Make mental notes of how things are spelt phonetically vs on paper so even if I know how it's pronounced I read the written word literally so I spell it correctly. For example if I'm writing down one of my meals for the week I would say "bol-og-nee-see" instead of "bol-oh-nais" so I can correctly write Bolognese. I sound dumb as hell but if it helps it helps.
Things I've done to accommodate my arthritis
Knee covers when my knees ache, grip gloves when I can't tense my hands and a cane in case I need to walk while I'm hurting.
Almost exclusively wear ankle socks so I have free movement of my ankles and have socks that are easy to put on and take off.
Got rid of lace up shoes in favour of slip-ons for regular day-to-day stuff.
Regular muscle training to help maintain strength around my more problematic joints and yoga once a week to stretch out and relax whilst remaining active.
I essentially have a desk job right now so daily stretch routines are a must. I also keep my art tools at arms reach or at eye level when I'm sitting down.
Put my bed next to the radiator and sleep on a firm pillow and mattress so I don't wake up frozen stiff and with back/neck pain.
Don't leave anything on the floor.
Keep an eye on the temperature and humidity.
Don't force myself to work like normal if I'm tired. Part of being arthritic is regular fatigue so I need to look out for what energy I have and be gentle to myself in those moments.
It sucks knowing that I'm arthritic at my age (early 20's) but I've been dealing with it since I was 17 so i'm experienced enough to cope and it's hereditary so I'm lucky to have support from my parent who's arthritis also manifested at the same age and in the future I can laugh at support my siblings when theirs eventually catches up to them.

Dear witches with sensory issues
What do you do to clear out negative energy and open up for healing that does not involve burning stuff and or cleaning?
I'm in sever burnout and have very little spoons for any given day. Sensory overload is constant. Maybe your routines have some helpful bits and pieces for me 🥺🙏🏻

Okay so HB has some anxiety and self hatred and guilt and grief( a lot). Now i am going to say that her mannerisms are at least partially because of this.
I think she speaks slowly and clearly because she isn’t in control and the pain that's inside of her is drowning her and that because of that she can’t feel her body either( like it not real or her bones want to burst from her body- having secrets including hiding your sexuality can do this as it makes you think your life is wrong and you get angry and lose yourself).
Now I could also say that she has a speech impediment  perhaps and that another reason.
Or even that she is afraid of being misunderstood and has to be perfect.
I might be really pushing my luck here but I think she moves her hands because she is angry and scared at all times and its the only thing she can control and perhaps this is the only reality she can live.
I move my hands and body in this way often for similar reasons and because i have taught myself to stay so small and suppress it all- every emotion I have comes out in this way so happy me is flappy and Softbroom. ( I could also say neurodiversity)
To conclude I am a nerd and I am broken and I love HB and I hope you like her to because she is very special and that sort of warmth and  acceptance that a character can be guilty but also good and kind and mentally ill and that mental illness is acceptable if the trauma is shared and you take some ( almost all of the blame). Anger is okay. Get help. I love you all.
