Look, This is gonna be one of those things that sounds bad until you read the whole story. Please don't read the title and go to 'yta' without reading.

AITA for yelling at our friend that my brother isn't trans?

Look, My brother ISNT trans. He likes to wear kilts and sew, Which is what kind of started all of this. My brother is NOT trans, He loves being a boy (trust me, I can hear him enjoying being a boy in his room all the time. Theres no way he'd wanna chop it off(I mean this as a joke I don't actually know how the surgery works), He's told me multiple times that being told by others what he likes is 'feminine' and 'girly' upsets him because he's proud of being a boy and doesn't like being called a girl. Its not because he hates girls or thinks less of them, He just does not like being called the wrong gender which I'm sure you want to be called the correct gender too.)

Anyways lets begin. I (16F) am my little brothers (15M) best friend, Basically. We grew up together and do everything together, Including sewing. I liked it when I was younger, And eventually convinced him to try it as well. He loved it, And we love just sitting together and making random crap we usually end up selling at our yearly garage sale. (Our mom makes us sell all our unneeded crap every year, But we aren't complaining when we make like $100 for it, Mom and dad even help us figure out what we actually wanna keep (we sometimes see old things and go 'Oh I could never get rid of this' and then throw it away))

Sorry for the rambling, But you'll see why some of this is important to know.

Basically, We were getting our shit together for the garage sale, And invited over a mutual friend of ours, Who I'll call uhhh Ley (16F). Shes kind of obsessed with the LGBTQ and loves to help people 'realize' they're gay or trans or non-binary. By this I mean she'll literally bully people she 'knows' is gay or trans by always telling them they are and spreading rumors about them saying they are. The way she 'knows' these things are from gut feelings. I thought maybe she needed friends who would be honest with her and tell her gently that it needed to stop. She stopped being so bad with it and we even convinced her to admit to the rumors she started being fake. We've known her for around 3 years now, And she's stopped doing it as aggressively for 2 of those years. She still makes jabs and 'jokes' saying things like "Oh thats so girly, Are you sure you're not trans?" and "Oh thats such a boy thing to do, Are you a lesbian?", Both quotes she's said to me and my brother less than a week ago. I am straight and cis, So is my brother. We have nothing against the lgbt, We just aren't apart of it. We support the lgbtq as much as possible (with my part time job I like to donate some of my paycheck towards point of pride so people who need the surgeries or binders can get them), And are very open about supporting them.

While we were cleaning out my brothers room and finding stuff to throw into the 'sell' box (we like to do precleaning before our parents help us, It makes everything faster and less work on the people trying to help), And Ley found my brothers kilt. She did a long exaggerated gasp, Looking at my brother.

"So, How long have you been trans? Why didn't you tell me?? I knew it the whole time!"

My brother tried to explain that it was a kilt for men, And he wasn't trans, But she kept interrupting him saying crap like 'you don't have to lie I know now' and 'Its nothing to be embarrassed about, I knew ever since you started to sew'. The last straw for me was when she continued not listening to him and started to ask about how he was gonna come out as school. I yelled at her to get out, That neither of us were gay, Neither of us are trans, And neither of us are apart of any of the lgbtq. We are allies and nothing more. She tried to argue that he had a 'skirt' which OBVIOUSLY meant he was trans, I basically screamed at her that she was a stupid know it all who made everyone who wasn't apart of the lgbtq's life hell because she made sure everyone knew them as someone they arent (I know, I shouldn't of brought up 2 years in the past) and that I was tired of her trying to force everyone to be in the LGBTQ when its just not realistic. Not everyone is gay or trans, Some people are cis and straight. She started crying and left, We haven't spoken in a few days but I think I'm justified. I'm tired of living my life being told I'm something I'm not, I'm tired of seeing it happen to my brother too.

My brother later thanked me for standing up for him, Telling me it made him really upset when she said those things. To cheer him up we watched his favorite movies and I made him his favorite dinner (mom and dad both work day jobs so we both make lunch and dinner)

And for those who are gonna say that allies are apart of the LGBTQ I strongly believe the A is for aro/ace. Being an ally isn't a gender or sexuality

(unless people identify using ally/allyself of course or whatever it is, I'm not quite sure how neos work or whatever but I love to see how creative people get with it and am happy it gives people who don't identify with any of the normalized(? Idk the correct term but yknow the man woman and nb) genders a chance to be who they actually are)

Extra info on why I think I could be the asshole: I feel like we might've been able to explain it if we got her to shut up for a minute, But she kept talking over us. I feel like I went too far by insulting her, And I feel like I might be TA because she's also autistic (so is my brother though, And I have ADHD).

Why I think I'm NTA: My brother is really quiet and doesn't really defend himself often. He doesn't really know how to stand up for himself and is 'easy' to talk over (soft spoken, Quiet talking voice and nonconfrontational) which is why I believe I had to step in in his place, And I don't believe I did anything wrong defending my brother and making her stop calling him what hes not.

Peridot and Unlearning (Internalized & Externalized) Homophobia

i.e., here's why peridot's redemption arc is partially (a metaphor?) about unlearning homophobia

the title sounds crazy but bear with me here.

let's start off with saying NO, fusion does not = romantic love. that's an age old discourse and it can be so easily solved by stating there are many different forms of love, and sometimes fusion is just for power (which is a form of love in-of itself, albeit fucked; the love for power or toxic love) HOWEVER, in many cases, such as Garnet's, it most certainly is about romantic love. so to keep it as brief as possible, thats what we have in mind in this post. it's gay love okay.

now, let's talk about the scene i just captioned. this is from the episode "too far," which is an episode about developing a crush and accidentally hurting them in the process of trying to impress them. (however you want to look at it, but thats how i interpret it) the fact it starts off with casual homophobia is important, coz it shows peridot still has a lot of prejudices despite recently becoming part of the team, which is full of gay people, undeniably.

peridot's redemption arc is partially about coming to terms with your sexuality, retraining your mind from internalized homophobia after being raised in such a homophobic society/household, and becoming proud of your sexuality / identity.

telling off your mom by saying youre joining some rebel lesbians/gays to fight her oppressive society

furthermore, i thought it'd be fair to include peridot learning how to respect how people identify in other ways, such as names / how they prefer to be addressed. this, most of the time, goes hand-in-hand with homophobia.

i should add she also eventually learns how to respect Garnet's whole deal in the same episode (log date 7 15 2) which was also a huge moment in her unlearning homophobia. which, btw if you dont know or dont remember, Garnet does by comparing herself to peridot's (assuming) gay ship between Percy and Pierre from Camp Pining Hearts, saying she was the optimized version of herself (the reason peridot "ships" them; theyre the best team logically according to her analysis ship chart)

anyways, now the biggest most obvious point is the fact that peridot actually is gay. i've referred to this episode a few times now, but thats becoz it really is a huge point in proving my 'thesis';

in the episode "too far," peridot is shown to get obsessed with impressing amethyst. peridot experiences something they havent yet up until this point: a crush. i mean, you can interpret it as you wish, but thats how i saw it. the butterflies, the obsession with making someone laugh, the fact peridot states amethyst is objectively the best gem of the crystal gems and emphasizes "damaging her standing with the best gem here" with their apology to amethyst after hurting her feelings.

Excellent, actually. After my divorce and move back home, I had completely given up. I’d never had much luck dating throughout my whole life. This isn’t whining, I was always fine with having friends and being social, sometimes I wanted sex but I was never the kind to sit around pining. After moving back to OK, having a young child and living with my parents for that first year, I figured this was it and that was fine. I’d get a home for me and my baby and just settle in.

My ex wife is British and lives in the UK (as do many Brits) so our kid goes to stay with her for the summer. It gives me a nice break and recharge to make me a better mom throughout the school year. After I got our home, and Kid went off for her holiday, I decided I needed a bit more of a recharge and began to look for what I started calling my Summer Shag. Not a girlfriend. That’s too much. I don’t need anyone on my island trying to make me feel shit, I just want a few dates and some physical attention. Middle aged women have Needs and that’s no lie. So for a few years I’d use dating apps starting about this time of year (late April) and see who I could find. Someone who’s down for good times and knows that this is absolutely just some summer lovin’, have us a blast.

Mostly it worked. I did have the 😱😱😱 racist date I told about in an earlier post, and sometimes it took a little longer to make a connection, but the dating apps were great. See pics, do preliminary chatting. One of my flings I met on Lex, the app with no photos, just talking and sharing. Very nice. Even when it wasn’t a match, just scrolling around looking at who’s out there and what their lives are like was interesting. Who else is a lesbian in central Oklahoma?

So that worked well for a few years, even during lockdown. Amazing what some private chats can accomplish in a world gone mad. Then one May I started the quest, swiping around and seeing who was available. I see some pix of a super cute dyke who headlines her ad ‘I can cook and fix shit’. Heck yeah! Swipe on her! We start chatting that evening and by the time we were able to actually meet 10 or so days later, I realized I actually liked her, and now here we are years later moving in and making wedding plans. The funniest thing is that we have mutual acquaintances and a decades long history of living in the same small town. We talk often about how many times she must have waited on me as she worked in literally my favorite restaurant in town, or how often I pushed my baby carriage past her house, or crossed paths on our bicycles but never met because it wasn’t our time yet.

So yeah, online dating is really good, in my experience and opinion. Especially if you don’t live in an urban area with lots of lgbt groups etc to join, and you’re too old to go out to clubs because you get up early for work and are sleepy 😂

If nothing else, it’s a system that gave me the sweetest surprise of my life and that can’t be bad

Haven't done this in a while, but HOPPY EASTER everyone, here have an Easter gift of villains being villainous in a villains win story.

Hell, bad run in with a vacuum cleaner and next thing you know you’re going in for MRIs and knee surgery.” “Do you ever shut up?” Reverb muttered in irritation. If he’d asked Zoom something like that? Vibrating hand through the chest, immediately. Savitar just laughed.

Savitar is a bit of a talkative and sarcastic little shit in this one, but once Reverb gets more comfortable around him the banter will be much more two-sided. (This is totally villain flirting, right?)

But it's not just villains being villainous around here. From the Eobard-is-the-shitty-ex fic for Barry/Cisco/Hartley...

And, for the first time, he might even believe it.

The only reason Barry can pull out of his own guilt complex? He feels the need to help Cisco and Hartley pull out of theirs. Right now they're sitting outside the building where a long hearing over Eobard's actions just took place and old grievances are being aired and reviewed. So it's been a long, hard day for all three of them, having to give testimony on their relationships with Eobard at some point during the process. But the hearing was entirely off screen, because I didn't want to have to research the actual process of investigating these kinds of allegations. Just move on to these three bonding, shall we?

Tommy is having to deal with a lot of obnoxious Queen family nonsense in the Ep3 rewrite for my Arrow Redux series. Including Oliver teasing him a little over wearing some of his mom's things as a kid. Though, to be fair, there's definitely the impression afterwards that Oliver liked getting to see Tommy in those things...

“We were, what… twelve? Thirteen.” “Ollie, do not.” “And we found your mom’s old stuff in the attic…” Tommy sighed. “I looked good in the tiara and heels, shut up.” Dig chuckled softly. “You must have missed her a lot,” he offered, looking amused by their antics. “I did. I still do. I have most of her things squirreled away in storage, actually,” he said with an amused smile. “And I do still look good in the tiara and heels,” he added with a smirk, just to see how that would get taken.

I've still got about... a third of the episode left to go? And then I can run cleanup on the fic. I'm also using this scene to set up an event taking place between episodes 6 & 7 as I'm trying to use the airdates of episodes as guidelines for approximately when the events within them occur and Tommy is going to be participating in an annual charity auction for an LGBT+ cause. A date auction, of course. ;)

Instead of trying to fit that into an episode rewrite, I'll probably just include it as it's own separate fic between those two rewrites.

The Lunch Affair

Croz absolutely despised his schedule for the semester. Not like Junior year was hard enough but he didn’t have any classes with Bubbles and his lunch was alone. He had a few of the same AP classes with Buck but by far he was not looking at a fun second semester.

The boy with the dark brown hair pushed open the auditorium door and watched as the automatic lights flipped on. He had been eating lunch here by himself for the past two weeks. He missed having lunch with his friends. Bucky being obnoxiously loud but mostly he missed Bubbles.

Croz sat in the last row and took his backpack off taking out his book and opening his lunchbox. He smiled at the little pink sticky note from his mom, sure he was 16 but his mom still packed him lunch everyday.

‘Have a good day sweety, love mom’ with a heart drawn next to it.

He took out the ziplock bag and took out the sandwich. Classic ham and cheese with some doritos and two cookies. Croz opened his book and held it in one hand while holding the sandwich in the other.

Slightly startled, Croz looked up from his book right away. The door opened and he saw the red head walk in. “Hey, thought I’d find you here.” Bubbles smiled, taking off his backpack as he sat down next to the other.

“What’re you doing, don't you have class?” Croz furrowed his eyebrows, shutting his book.

“We had a sub, he didn’t really feel like teaching.” Bubbles snickered looking through Croz’s lunch box and breaking off a piece of one of the cookies.

“Hey who said you could have that,” Croz giggled, slapping away Bubbles hand.

“Your Mom,” Bubbles stated proudly before he realized what he said. Croz covered his hand with his mouth as he began laughing through his bite of sandwich. It was no secret Mrs. Crosby always packed something extra for Bubbles.

“Too much time with Bucky,” Croz jokes, shaking his head looking over at his best friend. He didn’t know if he knew how to put into words his feelings for Bubbles. They’d been best friends since they were three, they did everything together.

Including when Croz decided to try out theater in middle school after he got kicked out of choir. He remembered how furious his mother was at the school. How dare they say her son was a bad singer. Croz didn’t necessarily like choir but he did it because his mother liked it. She was head of the church's choir and his older sister had been in show choir when she was in school.

But yet he also felt different feelings than just incredibly close friends. The anxious feeling that's always eating him goes away, he can relax. Not worry about what everyones thinks of him or if his bullies were near.

It was something he never got comfortable with, the way trouble seemed to lurk.

He had Buck and Bucky. He sometimes wondered why the two most popular boys and co captains of the football team were his best friends? Buck and Croz had known each other from going to church together and their mom being friends. Then Bucky moved there one day in sixth grade and they never looked back.

Then there was Curt who had been a beacon of hope for the lgbt population of the school when he moved there, their Sophomore year. He came from New York City and surely had the attitude to prove it, never letting anyone push him around. He wasn’t afraid to be unapologetically himself, he was an openly gay football player.

Croz wondered what he could do to get that kind of confidence. He wasn’t sure if he’d ever be able to reach that in life. He’d always been too timid and scared to stand up for himself.

“What’re you thinking about?” Bubbles studied Harry’s face, his brows were furrowed and his deep brown eyes gazing blankly at the stage.

Bubbles had known him long enough to know when Croz was too focused on his thoughts. Bubbles swore up and down Croz could turn over thinking into an olympic sport. Bubbles gently rested his hand on Croz’s hand and gave it a small reassuring squeeze.

“Nothing,” He shook his head looking back down at the sandwich. Croz could feel the safe, grounded feeling of Bubbles' hand. He knew Bubbles could see right through him. He was an older brother to five other little siblings ranging from ages two to 10. He could give good advice and read people like no other.

“Okay,” Bubbles didn’t press any further. The two sat in the auditorium in silence for the rest of lunch. Croz eating his sandwich with Bubbles hand still resting on his.

“It was nothing, okay?” Croz rolled his eyes as he and Bucky stood backstage. This winter's production was The Little Mermaid; Although, no one liked Bucky's obnoxious singing, but his over the top acting was too good for them to pass up. Now it was the same for Croz, he knew the theater director tried to give him the part with the least amount of singing. So he was playing Flounder and Bucky was Sebastian.

“Nothing but hand holding,” Bucky teased, yanking at the blue tail on Croz’s costume. It was tech week and of course Bucky couldn’t even take that seriously.

“Hush,” one of the techies snapped at the two of them from where she stood with her clipboard by the curtain ropes.

“Okay Bucky and Harry come on stage.” the director spoke into the microphone. The two of them walked on stage taking their spots behind the painted wood waves.

“Okay Joe get their lights on them.” the director instructed and Croz felt himself heat up just even hearing Bubbles be mentioned.

“Wow you’re blushing because he’s shining his spotlight on you?” Bucky looked over at him, his one eyebrow raised and his hands on his hips.

“You know you’re not supposed to be talking.” Croz side eyed him hoping Bucky would shut his big fat mouth. He didn’t want Bubbles hearing any of this, he always felt as if his feelings were one sided. That if Bubbles ever found out about Croz’s little crush he’d run for the hills. Then all the years of friendship would be gone and Croz would be on his own.

“I’m just being honest with you,” Bucky whispered, lowering his voice a bit more.

“Bucky,” Croz hissed between his teeth.

“I’m just saying everyone knows you guys are eye fuc-”

“Hush, before we get in trouble.”

“Mr. Crosby, is there something you need to say?” The director raised her eyebrow, sticking her head out of the tech booth in the back.

“No, I’m sorry Ms. Canary.” Croz cleared his throat and shot a glare at Bucky wanting to rip the stupid red top hat off of him.

“What was Bucky chattering all about?” Bubbles asked, glancing from the road over to Crosby. Croz let out an airy sigh not even wanting to bring up Bucky's teasing.

“Nothing important,” Croz sighed and shrugged sitting back in the well loved leather seat of the blue minivan. Croz couldn’t remember a time this van ever

Smelled like anything except cigarettes and cheap air fresheners. Even when they were younger it had that well loved smell.

Croz thought it was interesting that still, six kids later. Bubbles' parents wouldn’t give up smoking.

“Some silly recollection from a Yankees game to The Little Mermaid?” Bubbles chuckled lightly.

“Probably, I’ve learned to tune out Bucky and his baseball talk all the time.”

“I need to learn how to tune the baseball analogies out. That and everytime I look at Buck and Bucky at lunch they’re basically laying on top of each other.” Bubbles had always had B lunch with just Croz and they’d eat outside till it was too cold or it snowed. Rest of the winter months they’d eat in the auditorium. Now Bubbles had to experience the true horrors of sitting with Buck, Bucky, and Curt.

It was…a lot to say the least. Sometimes Bucky and Curt would start throwing food at other tables and then Bubbles was guilty by association. Forced to stay in the lunchroom cleaning up the floors and be late to class. Nevertheless he loved his friends, he just missed the quiet lunches with Croz.

“I dunno when you work this week but I was wondering if you wanted to go to a diner with me after rehearsal and study sometime this week? I know it's tech week but I just have this test next week on Monday.” Bubbles was finally working up the courage to bring up his feelings about him. He just wanted to be honest with his feelings and get past them if it wasn’t mutual.

“Oh uh, let me check.” Croz perked up taking out his phone, “I don’t work on Thursday, If that works for you.”

“Sounds good,” Bubbles turned into the driveway of Croz’s house. He could see Bitzy in the window, she was the Crosby family old cat. She was living in spight at this point, “Tell Bitzy hello from me.”

“Will do,” Croz nodded, opening the door and grabbing his backpack strap, “Thank you, love you, see you tomorrow?”

“Love you too.See you tomorrow, Harry.”

The Weird Diversity of Wednesday

While watching Wednesday, my brother and I were disappointed to see the darker skinned characters consistently used as bad guys or jokes!

The mean popular girl, the bully, the shady mayor, the pathetic nerd. It was WEIRD to see a darker skinned character get introduced, predict that they’re gonna be a minor antagonist, and then get proven correct every time. Obviously, that didn’t happen with the white/light-skin characters, who had the options of being bad guys and good guys.

The only exception was Eugene. Instead of being a villain, he got the chance to be the loser character that the show fridged for the latter half of its run time. (Excepting the finale, I presume, but I haven’t seen that episode, yet.) (Also, Deputy Santiago is a black woman who is just a deputy, but she’s also working with Sheriff Galpin, and she’s such a minor a character I forgot she existed. That one depends on your perspective.)

If you couldn’t tell by my “the option of being good guys and bad guys” comment, I don’t actually think dark skinned characters being bad guys is a problem. A person of any race or complexion should have the chance to be a bad guy because villains are fun and allow for complexity. (Also, more importantly, because race doesn’t determine morality.) In fact, I actually really love how the show delved deeper into the minor antagonists.

I love Bianca’s issues with her mother and her siren powers. I appreciate that the popular/beautiful queen bee isn’t a blonde white girl. I love the way the show humanizes the “mean girl” by demonstrating that she has more depth than her mean girl caricature, such as her talking with Wednesday at the dance about struggling with connection or her trying to save Lucas from getting scammed by her mom.

Lucas, similarly, is really fun as a villain. My brother and I got a kick out of how much game this guy had. Almost every girl he shared a screen with had chemistry or a mini-romance subplot with him! Go off, Casanova! I also liked that his reasons for attacking the dance wasn’t just cartoonish bigotry, but a human reaction to Wednesday kinda sorta enacting domestic terrorism at his dad’s ceremony. And it was cool to see him change and grow over the course of the season!

The show almost works! But it doesn’t, and Morticia’s scene with the mayor demonstrates why.

There’s a scene in this show where Morticia Addams, a white woman, tells a black man he has "no idea what it's like not to be believed."

Obviously the show was going for the “me-too” movement, identifying how her background as an outcast and a woman made her more vulnerable to victim blaming and disbelief. But it’s kind of crazy to me that they had her say that to a black man because black men have historically also had issues with being believed due to their marginalized status.

There is something to be said about how being a woman is different from being a man, how women are uniquely ignored, but Morticia, I’m sure the Mayor—as a black man in America—does have at least some awareness of what that’s like. Especially, especially, with the history of white women falsely accusing black men of crimes and getting them lynched or locked up because nobody would believe their word over a white woman’s.

It’s astounding that the show doesn’t address this context, and it makes the scene come off as ignorant. Almost willfully so. In fact, so much of this show felt like the reason they made “outcast” a marginalized social group was so that they could have white people be the victims of oppression with the most screen time on their tv show about marginalization, like they’re appropriating marginalized stories.

And this is consistent. They did this with LGBT+ themes, as well! Enid, a character who has no queer aspects to her character (only shown dating guys, no canon hints about same gender attraction), got an entire subplot about her mom trying to put her into “werewolf conversion therapy,” AND she got an entire scene where she told off her mom while wearing rainbow eyeshadow. Meanwhile, the actual LGBT content of the show consists entirely of two background characters (Eugene’s moms).

It honestly reminded me of the scene in the Vampire Diaries where Caroline, a vampire, gets electric shocks from her human dad, who is trying to use conversion therapy to turn her back into a human. Only, the dad character is ALSO canonically a gay man, for some reason.

Like, what is with this thing of creating fictional marginal statuses as a way to talk about social issues without actually involving said issues (no actual homophobia or colorism). Without actually creating main characters of real life marginalized status (no LGBT main characters). While also having the real life marginalized characters that do exist acting as the oppressors???? (Lucas, the Mayor, Caroline’s dad).

So yeah, the show is really interesting with its diversity. It almost works, as the stories it’s telling are cool and nuanced, but within the context of real life and the casting, the show is tone deaf. Plus, the show being somewhat produced and directed by Tim Burton (a guy who thinks that black characters must justify their blackness to exist in his works, and as a result, his works almost feature white people exclusively) does NOT help.

Not the same anon but If you don't mind me asking why is Bob's Burgers is centrist, uninteresting, and make's you uncomfortable?

People act like Bobs Burgers is progressively left because of, among other things:

-Characters that feel Autism Coded

-Characters that are LGBT

-Having a girl allowed to go through the weirder, grosser side of puberty like being horny

-Landlords bad

So let’s go over all of these as examples.

1. No character is actively autistic and autistic traits are mocked in the show. I know y’all think Louise wearing a bunny hat everywhere is so “you-pilled” but I’d like to remind you of Courtney, who despite them saying deserved better in her opening episode they certainly never even think to slow down on openly mocking her for stimming in a way people find gross and needed to have boundaries expressed verbally because she doesn’t pick up on cues well. Y’all really hate Big Bang for doing that shit, why does this get a pass?

2. No characters are LGBT. Bob awkwardly saying he’s “probably not gay” to a guy trying to turn him down is not confirmation that he’s bi. Dear lord Family Guy at least had the nuts to say the words “I’m Bi” when making a similar joke about Peter. Oh but they have the trans positive characters right? Oh I’m sorry, not trans characters. Drag Queen Sex Workers who’s opening appearance has them talk about sitting on people’s faces to children at a birthday. Now obviously I am absolutely pro drag, pro sex work, the works. But this reads like a conservative comic about how the libs are grooming your kids. Again, y’all hated Family Guy for the joke about Brian being grossed out when he finds out he had sex with a woman he obviously couldn’t tell was trans, why is this suddenly positive trans rep?

3. Tina’s obsession with grabbing her neighbors ass is gross. When Big Mouth did this shit with a character they spent the next 4 years explaining over and over again the line between being attracted to someone and being allowed to horny during puberty while being any gender, and sexual harassing people. Bobs Burgers never makes this distinction. Tina is just supposed to shoot off about her latest erotic fan fiction about the boy next door and I’m supposed to laugh. It’s giving “its funny because she’s a girl” energy, not positive influence energy.

4. Their landlord is a friend who is routinely shown to be “crazy but also friendly guy who’s actually helpful and gives Bob plenty of rent extensions”.

Now does this mean Bobs Burgers is secretly some right-wing pipeline? No. All of these things are dumb oversights or jokes that went on too long which happens in the best of shows. Family Guy certainly wasn’t immune to taking too long to end Quagmire SA jokes or making anti-Semitic remarks feel a little too unironic. But Family Guy also threatens to break your teeth if you don’t respect Native Americans in conversations about their land, or if you don’t have respect for trans people. Bobs Burgers is too out of politics to say that.

And that’s fine. This isn’t modern Simpsons type “centrism” which is just myopically packaged conservatism, this is Duncaville. It’s easy Gen-X humor that’s just calm and mundane enough that you can relax to it. It’s practically background noise for 40-year-old wine moms, and that’s NOT an inherent negative. But I’m sick of people acting Bobs Burgers is the one and only “truly progressive” cartoon while it does literally nothing in the way of politics one way or the other. You like it? Fine. But don’t come to me about how how it’s the most genius show ever written and “so much better than gross out garbage like Seth MacFarlane makes” or you’re getting popped.

Murdoc- You got SEVERE daddy issues. You also have some self-destructive behaviors and you're probably not doing anything about it. You're def into the bad boy type of people even though they just are making everything worse. But I can't blame you though.

Lil' Arturo- You're the cool friend who knows how to speak a different language. You're the one who has to tell the McDonald's workers that your friend didn't want pickles on their burger. You're also neurodivergent and you're so ready to talk about your current obsessions at any given moment.

Grubber- You're a monster fucker. You're also a human vaccum cleaner, eating all the leftovers or food your friends didn't want. You're also neurodivergent and you're the smartest/most logical one of the group. But you tend to get left out a lot though. :(

Big Billy- You're still trying to cling onto the last bits of childhood you have left. You also have a massive toy collection of some sort that you show off on your socials. You're also a HUGE animal lover and you have probably thought about becoming a vet at some point but then read the horror stories about being one. You're the one everyone tells their problems to cause you listen and give good advice.

One of the problems with "fixing" rwby is that some of the idea could make funny/interesting fics, like Raven getting kicked out of her tribe(potentially interesting) or Ozpin ending up with roman after he dies(imagine the comedy shenanigans possible), like I could see myself reading a fic that focuses on one of those things and enjoying myself, but instead of just saying it's a canon divergent fanfic, instead he says it's "fixing rwby" which is incredibly snobbish.

Its not even the snobbishness, which of course people like Judgmental Critter praise due to her hatred of Oscar.

Its the sheer sexism, cliches,

Character bloat that 10X the size of RWBY,

The obsessive focus and dedication to male characters over female characters,

The dedication to making female characters hated or injured

The desire to justify any bad actions made by male characters

The fact that people enjoy this would be disturbing...but Redo of Healer is considered a popular show...that shows how disgusting the members of "Sketchy Huntsmen are."

Did I ever mention that they keep salem from appearing in v3, v4, and v5 till the very end? And they basically design her, the queen of grimm, with a bellydancer outfit.

Because if you're drawing a woman in a fix-it fanfic, you gotta sexualize her for the sake of your viewers who accuse LGBT ships of being fanservice.

There is no fix-it fanfic in rwby that isn't a piece of garbage.

Is Kill Boksoon worth the hype?

Unpopular opinion: NO. Here's why:

1. The Storyline was unsatisfying

I do like the whole idea of the main character living a double life: as a mother and as an A-rank assassin. However, the whole film felt like a multi-chaptered novel/manga/manhwa that was "compressed" into a two-hour film. To be honest, there were so many parts in the movie which could have been expounded better, like the first meeting of Chairman Cha and Boksoon, how did he find out about the then seventeen-year-old girl's case? Did Boksoon heard or contacted MK and the company then assigned someone to stage her father's suicide? How come the director of MK despises Boksoon so much? Surely there was something deeper than just her being the chairman's favorite knife, what about the backstory of how MK was established and became such a powerful company? What about Jae-young's dad? Was she ever curious about who he was? The main plot had so much potential, but there are loose threads and unexplored side stories would have made it so much better.

2. There were interesting characters whose backstories could have added up to the excitement

Han Hee-sung, Cha Min-kyu, Cha Min-hee, Kim Yeong-ji, are among those characters who I'd like to get to know of. Sadly, because this is a film, the focus was definitely towards the main character. I'm not mad, and I think Jeon Do-yeon gave off a splendid performance as Gil Boksoon. But the four I've mentioned above have so much more to offer. Especially the Cha siblings, I wish they had given these characters a solid backstory so the viewers could have a better understanding towards these characters.

3. The climax didn't provide the climax

The other fight scenes were good, but the final fight scene between Boksoon and Min-kyu which by the way was supposedly a badass and exhilarating part of the show was rather underwhelming. Those two have known each other for so long that they could already predict what the other would do, but it was so hard to keep my eyes glued on the screen as the film goes on. It wasn't bad, but it was lackluster. And in all honesty, it would have been better if they really fought to the death than staring into each other's souls or predicting what the other was going to do. It's kind of common in many action films but hey, it works most of the time.

4. The ending was so-so

There are two things I have in mind: one was Min-kyu never intended to harm Jae-young, the film gave hints about his relationship with Boksoon which led to the suspicion that he could be the real dad of Jae-young (but it was never confirmed), and his #1 rule was that kids were off-limits so he was just really messing with Boksoon's head. OR Jae-young did watch the live but pretended that she didn't for some reason idk, and I kinda have the feeling that she could be following her mother's footsteps in the future but that was just me. Anyway, after Boksoon killed Min-kyu there wasn't really left to tell though I would have liked to know whether the remaining employees would...perhaps kill for the position as the new CEO or something but yeah, it was just an okay ending.

Some good things about the show:

1. Amazing cast ensemble

Hands down, they were all amazing ❤️ Like I've said, Jeon Do-yeon delivered her character so well! I love how she shifts from a badass assassin to a mom who's just trying to reconnect with her only daughter. Also, a huge shout out to Lee Jae-wok for his cameo performance.

2. The relationship of Gil Boksoon and Gil Jae-young throughout the film

I know South Korea is a conservative country and they're not as open towards the LGBT community, so I like that the character of Jae-young wasn't the usual kdrama or kmovie rebellious, bratty, girl. She was hiding something and was scared of what other people might say about her especially her mom and it sucked because she couldn't really be herself. But the moment she finally came out to her mother, their relationship has gotten better. Boksoon's initial reaction was understandable but in the end, she never forced Jae-young to be someone that she's not and even encouraged her to be true to herself.

Conclusion:

Kill Boksoon isn't the best film I've seen this year, but I wouldn't say that it's one of the worst. In fact, I think that this has so much potential and so much more to offer, and it could have been executed better. It was just lacking, I personally think that this could have been one of the best if this movie was turned into a series instead.

For those who don't have context, i am trans, I am duosex, I went to a therapy place for free, and saw a therapist. He immediately started going through the criteria for dysphoria because I asked but we ran out of time. So I'm getting my diagnosis finished over the phone. It took me two appointments and $0 to get a gender dysphoria diagnosis. So stop acting like this is difficult or hurting anyone.

It's not hypocrisy to provide a safe space for a group and exclude people. You would provide a safe space for enben that has binary people in it? Because they aren't enby. Thus they don't need that space, and could fuck it up.

You're the hypocrite calling me names and crying and screaming at me calling me crazy. Seriously get some help. Therapy is an option. If you don't feel safe in your current mental state you could always check in at an ER and tell them you need help. You could also look around. Many places provide therapy for free. Utilize these resources and stop harassing strangers online. I hope that goes well for you.
