i'd say 🐭 (i think you were the first writer i found guts to send an ask)
🐭 for slightly intimidating
And I am glad you reached out to me too. :D I always get so happy when I see you've liked my fic meta or snippets or fanfics.

I'm torn between 🦊 and 🐯 for the ask game but it's mostly based on your level of writing talent being hugely intimidating, no offense
🦊 for fairly intimidating 🐯 for very intimidating
No offense taken, I definitely get it. There are certainly fic writers I follow here on tumblr but their skill at writing - particularly those good at long fic, where do they find the focus??? - makes me find them intimidating too, though they seem like very nice people. :D
Personality wise, I assure you I'm a pretty laid back person. My not-quite-fourteen pound terrier is quite good at charming - or bullying, she will bark at me if I'm being slow about things - me into doing as she commands. Usually this is giving treats or snuggles or, in the case where I'm being smacked in the arm with a squeaky toy, play time.

Have you read Bloodline by Claudia Gray and if so what did you think of it? Do you think it fits in well or was it a sign of the disaster to come regarding the Sequels?
So I haven't read that one. I haven't really read any of the new canon books for Star Wars though I think this one might be on my TBR list.
I looked over at the synopsis on Wookiepedia, however, and... it might come off my TBR list because... um...
Starship racer Han Solo??? O_o I don't really feel like that's something Han would be super interested in. At all. And since it looks like this is going the route of Han and Leia being a long distance couple... I don't think I'd enjoy that dynamic for them. It works for some couples but I just... don't think I'd enjoy it for Leia/Han. Not after how well the Legends Canon developed their relationship and handled Han being a present, active, and supportive part of both Leia and their children's lives. This was a man who, in Legends canon, became a parent and pretty much immediately, metaphorically, changed his job title to Dad. So I've been pretty wary of the new Canon interpretation of him from the start and this is... not encouraging.
Especially as I just started re-reading the Corellian trilogy which has the relationships between the Organa-Solo family (Han, Leia, Jaina, Jacen, Anakin, and can't forget Chewie is basically part of the family unit too) as a highlight of the series. (Luke is so good with the kids as well.)
So, yeah, I'm getting disaster vibes off it now. :/

For Talk Shop Tuesday, is there a trope or genre that you enjoy writing but often find difficult?
Things with bleak settings can be difficult because they're going to be angsty-er than normal from the get-go.
Post Apocalypse Survival Guide was one that flowed surprisingly well despite the bleak setting and I'd love to return to it with a sequel one day... but that sequel is definitely not cooperating, so it remains a standalone for now. (I loved writing Earth-not-specified!Hartley in this fic and I want to come back to him again.)
I've also got the Ripple Effect series that I'm hoping to make some progress on this year. The premise of the series is that Yuri Lowell is basically erased from the timeline up until the point of the event that erased him, so the events of Tales of Vesperia played out very differently. Without Yuri there being a spanner in the works, Alexei won. Of course, Yuri is right back to being a spanner in the works - showing Raven he's got more choices than he was aware of and making a bee-line for Rita Mordio who is just itching for an excuse to get away from Aspio - but Estelle's current fate is pretty awful and it's going to take some time before Yuri (with Rita doing the heavy lifting on the magic front) can rescue her. The world itself is in dire straights. The Adephagos trapped outside the planet's atmosphere is no longer dealt with and the high aer levels mean they're at risk for more Adephagos being created... if Alexei doesn't kill off the remaining Entelexeia first anyway.
My other ongoing Tales of Vesperia series (Folk Heroes) is far less bleak, but it opens with a civil war not unlike what's seen during the later part of the game while blending in some early game elements to establish the AU setting. It hasn't gotten too dark yet, but I think just knowing where it'll wind up at a few points down the road makes it more difficult to write. That said, the inspiration for this one came in part from Robin Hood, which is how the series got it's name, so it's definitely a much lighter series over all than the apocalypse-how setting of Ripple Effect.

For Talk Shop Tuesday…what was your favorite scene to write in your fantastic Saverb (Savitar/Reverb) fic 👀
That is a hard choice, You Must Live (For Me) had a number of scenes in it that I loved writing.
Hmmm, for Savitar & Reverb interactions early on it's definitely when Savitar introduces himself by stealing Reverb's dinner. Reverb has the best line in the scene - “A god doesn’t need to pray and I don’t need you.” - which is probably my favorite line in the fic, though Reverb decides he was wrong about that later. :D
For Reverb & Dante it's the scene where Reverb is spending time with Dante while waiting for Savitar to return from the speed force prison. Dante is seeing all the changes in his brother and realizing that Savitar wasn't just using Reverb after all... and Reverb is in love, can't hide that from big brother. ^_^ We don't really know much about E2 Dante save that he was willing to go on a roaring rampage of revenge for his brother, so I really enjoyed taking the chance to flesh out their relationship here and show them as having that closeness that Cisco and his Dante were denied. (Perhaps, in this universe, it is specifically because E2 Dante lived that E1 Dante died...)
Though the third contender for favorite scene is when Reverb decides he's going to make the armor for Savitar. Reverb finally embraces his protective feelings towards Savitar at that point; he's not quite in love yet but he wants very much for Savitar to live, which is why it offends him in the following scene where he vibes Savitar hesitating to kill Iris. If he's going to be putting in this hard work to help keep Savitar alive, then Savitar had better be willing to do whatever it took to stay alive too.

Consider this an early kudos!! <3
^_^ Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying it thus far.
I know it's a very long fic. I looked at how long before posting and tried to see where I could maybe break it up, but in the end it just felt wrong to chop it in half and so I just posted it all in one go.

Hi Mr Gaiman!
What’s your opinion on people saying someone is only a real fan of something if they consumed all of the available media of that thing? (e.g. “you aren’t a real fan of sandman if you only watched the netflix series”)
I feel like more and more people do this to sort of gate keep otherwise amazing fandoms and personally i think it’s quite sad to see.
As I posted on a more or less dead site a couple of years ago:

Just got the most WTF comment I've ever received on Ao3 ever.
It opened up with 'your soul has violated the Terms of Service' and went on to ramble nonsense from there. Obviously I deleted it, but I'd intended to report it as spam first... only to find the spam button wasn't showing up?
Anywho, it's been deleted and the user who sent it blocked since it came from an actual user and not an anon (anon is still being disallowed).
But I'm concerned that there was no option to report as spam? I know the button exists, I've used it before. I can only assume it wasn't showing up because this was a logged in user's comment, but that's still really annoying. :/

So having only watched the mess that was Armageddon from Flash S8, I've mostly gotten my info about that season second hand and none of it really puts me in a rush to see the season despite the return of Ronnie (expect not really) and a heroic version of Eobard showing up.
And I admit, I'm still trying to piece together an alt take on the season that would have enticed me to watch after Armageddon. Just as a thought exercise for now, but it could easily be for fanfic purposes later.
Setting aside the first five episodes of the season, the only four things I hear about when people talk about S8 is that the episode focused on Nora & Bart is cute, the Ronnie psych-out plot was rushed, nothing really happens with the Iris time sickness plot until the end of the season, and the heroic Eobard plot (where Eobard gets one of Barry's love interests from the comics and also the face-ripping off thing that comics!Eobard did to comics!Barry) was also rushed. And it seems like the biggest problem the season had was pacing.
I am... not surprised.
So according the Arrow wiki, S8 was broken up into three main arcs. Armageddon, Death Revisited, and It's All Negative. There's a two episode interlude between the first two arcs, and a three episode interlude between the second and third arcs.
I'd have to say, looking over the plot summaries for Death Revisited, they spent too much time foreshadowing and not enough time focused on Ronnie & Caitlin & Frost. If the heart of the story line is supposed to be Caitlin's grief over Ronnie being dug back up and the sisterly love that's grown between Caitlin and Frost, then they needed to commit to it and build those two aspects of the storyline up first.
If the interlude were cut down to just one episode, then we keep Impulsive Excessive Disorder as the post-Armageddon breather but end it with a teaser about Eobard Thawne (Matt edition) showing up in present day Central City, found by Meena. With the third arc foreshadowed as being a result of XS and Impulse's time travel, the second arc starts. It also takes the second arc from six episodes to seven.
Cutting out Marcus, Caitlin's quickly forgotten about boyfriend would probably help with the pacing a lot more too. Instead Caitlin's issues with Frost/Mark become the very valid point that Mark hasn't actually done anything to earn Caitlin's trust, but also jealousy because she's reminded of what she had with Ronnie. Underscored by Caitlin having started dreaming about Ronnie lately and flashbacks to her relationship with him when she sees Frost out with Mark. The three of them wind up looking into a recent death of one of Caitlin's colleagues - and friends - who'd recently been on the same panel as Caitlin at the science & tech conference from the Armageddon arc. This winds up being their first encounter with the Black Flame, which Frost notes rather uncomfortably seems drawn to Caitlin.
By the end of the episode Mark would have demonstrated that he really is trying to be a better person, not just to earn Caitlin's trust but because it's what he wants for himself. And Caitlin having a heart to heart with Frost about how their relationship as sisters is what helped Caitlin overcome her heartache over losing Ronnie and move on with her life, though she's not sure she'll ever truly stop grieving him entirely - the episode stinger would have the black flame appearing in somewhere in Central City with Ronnie stepping out of it.
The next episode, Caitlin's seeing Ronnie everywhere while the Black Flame goes after more people. Frost is concerned about Caitlin's mental well being and when the episode culminates in Ronnie showing up 'for real' and asking for Caitlin's help in stabilizing him without Martin, Frost is very suspicious. But the entire team helps Caitlin reprogram the quantum splicer to help him return to normal. Afterwards all his scans show Ronnie as being a perfectly normal human. Caitlin is elated and kisses him, but Frost is worried that's still not Ronnie, which she confides in Mark.
The third episode has Ronnie creating a rift between Caitlin and Frost as he needs Caitlin's entire focus to be on him. Her love for Frost and her friends is a problem but Frost in particular is holding Caitlin back. As far as he's concerned, anyway.
Frost would probably be the one to figure out that Ronnie was actually the source of the Black Flame in the fourth episode but by the time she figures it out, Caitlin's already left to spend time alone with "Ronnie" forcing the team to look for her frantically. Episode five would have Caitlin learn the truth but by then she's been 'poisoned' by her proximity to 'Ronnie' and her rekindled love for him having given Deathstorm the in he needed to start transforming her into another of his kind. By the time the team finds them, Caitlin has accidentally manifested black flames herself.
Episode 6 would focus on Ronnie and Frost's fight over Caitlin with Caitlin ultimately choosing Frost but in doing so the transformation she's going through begins to kill her. If Deathstorm can't have Caitlin, no one will.
Episode 7, Frost knowingly risks dying to save Caitlin. As she puts it to Mark, she was created from to protect Caitlin but has become so much more. Because Caitlin loved her, Frost became her own person and has learned to live for herself. She no longer sees protecting Caitlin as an obligation to run from, but a choice she makes out of love. When Frost dies after absorbing the hellfrost powers as well as Deathstorm's powers, she's seemingly absorbed back into Caitlin. Which would make Caitlin's certainty that Frost is alive within her later on make more sense.
The next interlude is the funeral for Frost but from there I'm not sure where to go. Iris' time sickness never totally made sense and I still think it should have been wrapped up as part of Armageddon.
Obviously Eobard would get introduced a lot sooner and take part in several episodes proving himself as a hero, only to make it more tragic when EoWells either intentionally or unintentionally utilizes his more heroic self to facilitate his return for the season finale.

Reverb is threatening to kill the Flash in front of his doppelganger when Zoom runs up. About to be killed instead of doing the killing, Reverb's inter-dimensional breach ability kicks in instinctively beneath his feet, sending Reverb plummeting to another world like he's an evil version of Alice in a not-so-Wonderland.
Because he lands in front of an alternate version of Harrison Wells who insists on being called HR, keeps flirting with Reverb, and definitely doesn't look adorable with how he stims with drumsticks all the time.
Of course this new Earth isn't actually safe for Reverb either. Turns out there's an entire division of people with powers just like his and they enforce the laws regarding people not leaving their Earth and people from other Earth's not visiting. HR helps Reverb evade them and Reverb's own powers help him hide from them to some degree as well, but he's quickly realizing that he's a bit out of his depth and perhaps not as unique or god-like as he'd originally thought.
When HR's reputation is destroyed by something he'd been doing - with reservations - for the love of a friend, the whole situation makes Reverb's blood boil. HR takes Reverb's offer of killing Randolf Morgan in vengeance as a joke and instead... asks to run away with Reverb. Anywhere. Everywhere.
If anyone can show him the multiverse's wonders and keep him safe from his own world's vibers, it's Reverb. HR has faith in him.
And, well... no one would blame Reverb for kissing him after that, right?

👽 A fic that isn’t prose (poetry, text fic, etc.)
A Brief Account of Life with Zombies by silverpard - A hilarious epistolary style fic about Sherlock, John, and Mycroft dealing with the zombie invasion. Each in their own unique way.
When I'm in the mood for some gen Sherlock fic this is definitely top of my re-read pile.
😭 A fic that ripped your heart out (but it hurt so good)
Finding our way back by Marieke_things_dreams_and_stuff - A post crisis Supergirl fic in which Kara and Lena team up to take down Lex by showing the world Kara's memories of Lex. But the technology is experimental and winds up showing everything more of Kara's life than she's really comfortable with.
It's a Supercorp fic that deals with Lena's (justifiable) anger towards Kara but also helps her to see things from Kara's perspective. It takes a while to get there though and I don't remember it ever treating Lena as being wrong for being upset about things. There's lots of Kara whump as things from her past get dragged up as the memories tend to surface based on association. Which means Lena and the others get to see things like Kara's homeworld dying around her...

👀 A fic that you love a normal amount
Darling, in the End, We All Become What We Pretend to Be by palaces_out_of_paragraphs - A Westallen fake marriage, no powers, college AU in which Iris thinks it'd be great idea to get married to her bestie for the financial aid benefits and then they can amicably divorce after graduating. It's not like they'll fall in love right? (Of course Barry is already in love and aware this is a terrible idea, but when has he ever been able to tell Iris no?)
💌 A fic that inspired you to create something for it
The Scruff Factor by JastaElf - A Lord of the Rings fic about Aragorn putting up with elven ridiculousness and shenanigans while at Elrond's.
It's still one of my favorite Lord of the Ring fics - but I first read it... in junior high I think? It inspired me to write a short story for extra credit in an English class, but unfortunately I no longer have a copy of that fic. It was just a silly Return of the King fic with some similar themes to what was in The Scruff Factor, so it wasn't specifically something created for the fic that inspired me.
There are definitely times I wish I had the skills to draw fanart of people's fics (or of my own) but I've never had the patience to develop my art skills the way I have with my fic writing. And I think my tendency to wonder "what if" means I'm more likely to just write a fic inspired by another fanwork than to make a fanwork of a fanwork.
😭 A fic that ripped your heart out (but it hurt so good)
New Conditions by AssistedRealityInterface - A fic about Hartley struggling to deal with being disowned by his parents, internalized homophobia, and his crush on Cisco. It's definitely a so good but it hurts fic.

👍🏽 A fic you bookmarked recently
Hubris by masterofthez, it's very fun.
The Flash, who ever that may be at any given time, is the Fastest Person Alive. No one can match that speed. Or that is the assumption at least. At least one person from the Greek Pantheon is willing to challenge them on that title.
(T, 8.4k words)
👀 A fic that you love a normal amount
Promises I Should (Not) Keep by @kitkatt0430. It's a Westhallen fic and it's so good. It's so very good. I love this fic so much. Going to go read it again right now.
Barry is trying hard to keep the promises he's made. To Joe, to keep Iris out of what's going on with the Flash. To himself, to use his powers to help people, never to cause harm. And now to Iris... to stay away from her and Eddie. Even though she made the Flash promise that one, Barry is the Flash. And so he should keep his promises, right?
But after what Bivolo did to him, Barry needs Iris and Eddie's support to keep from spiraling and something has to give.
(T, 7k words)
💖 A drabble that made you want 100K more words
Justice You Can't Run From by orphan account. It's a teeny bit longer than a drabble but Laurel moving to Central City and spending a day hanging out with Iris? Hints of maybe future Cisco/Laurel? Background Westhallen, with Eddie as a superhero alongside Barry? Laurel becoming part of Team Flash? I would absolutely read a 100k fic about this
"Why the hell would I want to run? Dude, Justice can kick my ass around all day, it'd be an honor!"
Laurel Lances moves to Central City. Iris takes her out for her first official day as a Central resident.
(G, 3.2k words)
Thank you!
