You let out a quiet groan in pain as you squinted your eyes at the tv, trying to watch your favourite show but the light from the screen only made your throbbing headache worse, to the point it was almost unbearable.

"Another migraine?" Spencer asked quietly from the other end of the sofa as he looked up from his book, keeping his voice low so as to not make it any worse. "yucky!" hazel shouts through a laugh when emily hops up the few stairs in front of aaron's office.

"she's getting so big," dave comments, crossing his arms over his chest, "i feel like the last time i saw her, she was half the size she is now,"

"yeah, you should bring her in more often," penelope huffs, plopping down into a spinny chair that you guess is spencers, "or, at least let me babysit every once in a while,"

through open blinds you watch as aaron stands your daughter on his desk, "hey, you guys are more than welcome to borrow her any time," you chuckle, "she's a handful though," you warn

"we can handle her for a few hours, give you and spence some time alone," jj says, her tone suggestive, "maybe give hazel a little brother or sister?" she comments before brushing past, also on her way to aaron's office

beside you spencer blushes a deep red, his fingers drumming against your waist, "jj!" he groans, causing derek, penlope and dave to also laugh as they depart, following the sound of your girls laughter

you lean back to look into aaron's office through the now open door, "she's bouncing on his couch," you snicker, watching the rest of the team bob their heads as they all watch her going up and down

"oh god," spencer gasps, standing, ready to go and stop her but you wrap your fingers loosely around his wrist pulling him back so he's stood between your legs, "pretty," he smiles, looking down at you

"okay," you whisper, heart racing with excitement as you wrap your arms around spencer's waist, pulling him in so you can hide your face against his stomach, "right, let's go retrieve out daughter before she makes herself sick,"

spencer laughs at you, tangling his fingers with yours as you lead him towards aaron's office. you slot in by the rest of the team while spencer catches hazel mid couch jump, "you'll be sick if you carry on with that, princess,"

"no i won't!"

the team laughs while you lean slightly towards jj, "hey, do you, maybe, fancy having a play date this weekend?" you ask, eyeing her slightly though you don't need to, she knows what you're asking and why

"Not a fan of flying?" The voice of Spencer Reid made the girl jump, as if she wasn't shaky enough due to the ongoing turbulence. "Uh, just a bit." She tried to laugh to hide how scared she was, but who was she kidding? She was in an enclosed space, 30,000 feet in the air with a bunch of profilers.

There was no hiding her undeniable fear of flying.

"You know, it's not bad. There's less to worry about flying than there is driving." The girl looked up at him in curiosity, urging him to continue. "I mean, what we really need to worry about are microbursts - a sudden downburst of air associated with thunderstorm. But a small aircraft like this, if we hit one of those at the wrong altitude," he stops, mimicking an explosion with his fist and mouth, making Y/N tighten her seatbelt more than it already was, practically squeezing her stomach against her ribs.

"Alright, I think she gets it." Derek pats Spencer on the back, and Reid moves his eye contact from Derek to Y/N, now noticing how scared she looked.

"Oh, gosh, uh, I'm so sorry. Usually my facts don't scare you that bad." He joked. "Spence, it's okay. Usually your facts aren't about things I'm deathly afraid of." She jokes back, cracking a light smile. "Why don't you tell me something else?" Spencer lights up at this, thanking the universe he finally got a chance to spew some random fact that had been stored up in his genius brain for who knows how long.

"The praying mantis can kill and eat a multitude of creatures but the most interesting fact is that oftentimes the female mantis engages in sexual cannibalism, meaning she’ll bite off the head of her mate once copulation is complete, sometimes even during intercourse, actually."

Y/N looked at the man in disbelief. "Huh. I had no idea, that's... strangely interesting." She laughs softly. "I guess I know I can always count on you for weird facts, huh?" Spencer nodded excitedly, thankful someone actually wanted to hear him talk about the random things his brain stores.

So, that's what he did. He spent the rest of the flight from Virginia to California telling Y/N random facts to keep her distracted from her surroundings.

Spencer Reid x Reader Headcanons - Mutual Pining

(requested by anon and @khyleereads for my New Year's Celebration)

The first time Spencer lays eyes on you he is absolutely blown away by your beauty. With every day passing it becomes harder for him to form coherent sentences around you.

Whenever you're sitting close to him or casually touch his arm his cheeks take on a lovely rosy shade and his heart almost jumps out of his chest.

He pays attention whenever you mention details from your personal life. Even though the team agreed to not profile each other he can't help it when it comes to you.

More than anything in the world he loves to see your smile. Whenever he manages to make you laugh he couldn't be happier himself.

He notices instantly when you're having a bad day. Even though he has a hard time articulating his feelings he deeply cares about you and always tries to show you that he is there for you.

He makes it a habit to bring you coffee and little treats on long work days. Sometimes he even takes a couple of your files to help you with your paperwork.

The whole team notices long before the two of you that you are perfect for each other.

The issue is that even though Spencer is nice to you, you notice quickly that he barely ever talks to you and often looks away when you try to make eye contact. It takes you a long time to realize that the usually so eloquent doctor seems to be shy around you.

Even when you very obviously start flirting with him he still doesn't get the hint. Somehow he convinces himself that you're just being friendly.

The truth is that Spencer is terrified of ruining your friendship if he confesses his feelings. It becomes clear that you'd have to be the one to take the first step.

When you finally get a moment with him alone and take your chance to kiss him, it takes him almost too long to reciprocate the kiss because he is so shocked. But when he finally does, your kiss turns into the best thing you have ever experienced.

hello everyone! after a year (and a half?) i’ve finally got to myself to show all the things i could write for. it’s gonna be updated regularly as soon as i obsess over something new.

i’m not sure if i’m a good person to write smut so… request if u want, but might take a long time before i post it! (i haven’t really written anything smut related so that might be bad)

Autistic Spencer Reid

Happy Autism Acceptance Month, everyone! By request, my wonderful friends and I have taken on the daunting task of documenting the reasons why Spencer Reid is considered Autistic. Big thank you to you @spencer-reids-adventures and @foxy-eva specifically for their help. We hope everyone enjoys! This is not an exhaustive list.

Stimming/Self-Stimulatory behavior, including rocking/spinning in his chair, twiddling with his fingers, gripping sheets, bouncing his legs, biting his lip/tongue, rubbing his eyes, spinning pens, pacing (e.g., S6E12 "Corazon")

Averse to touch, dislikes hugs (S7E13 "Snake Eyes" & S11E11 "Entropy")

Explains multiple attempts at masking, including "being more conversational," (S2E19 "Ashes and Dust"), scripting conversation (S15E4 "Saturdays"), saying what people want to hear (S6E20 "Hanley Waters")

Verbosity - Difficulty recognizing when he's talking too much/speaking at inappropriate times (e.g., S1E16 "The Tribe" & S10E16 "Lockdown")

Began studying behavioral science to understand behavior that made him frustrated/confused (S11E22 "The Storm")

Makes inappropriate references, such as to Derek's playboy behavior (S1E18 "Somebody's Watching") and Rossi's age (S7E13 "Snake Eyes")

Coordination/Spatial deficits (S1E17 "A Real Rain" & S8E6 "The Apprenticeship")

Hyperfocuses on a task to the point he doesn't notice his surroundings (S5E20 "A Thousand Words")

Unusual/hyper-specific pedantic language (S3E6 "Remembrance of Things Past")

Resistance to change, manifested as a luddite dislike of technology (S6E7 "Middle Man" & S8E4 "God Complex") and struggling with Gideon's death (S10E14 "Hero Worship")

He receives (apparent disability) accommodations to be in the field (S6E10 "What Happens At Home...")

Introverted, difficulty sharing emotions, even with his closest friends (S10E13 "Nelson's Sparrow")

Heavily bullied as a child (S3E16 "Elephant's Memory")

Difficulty making friends (S2E1 "The Fisher King Part 2")

Trouble with eye contact, which persists throughout the series

His mother is schizophrenic, which has a strong genetic link to Autism

Dislikes small talk (S8E3 “Through the Looking Glass”)

Enjoys memorizing lists (S7E11, “True Genius”)

Savant skills - eidetic memory and hyperlexia

Matthew Gray Gubler has also explained that, regardless of the canonical confirmation, he views and portrayed Spencer Reid as Autistic. Specifically, he stated:

"He's an eccentric genius, with hints of schizophrenia and minor autism, Asperger's syndrome. Reid is 24, 25 years old with three Ph.D.'s and one can't usually achieve that without some form of autism." (Note: Asperger's is an outdated term with Nazi origins, which is now referred to as a part of "Autism Spectrum Disorder" by most countries)
