⩨͢ Halloween Event!

Duration: 24th Oct. - 4th Nov.

I LOVE autumn and Halloween, and to add to my already massive workload, I’ve decided to bring back last years Halloween event! Below are some autumn/Halloween themed prompts. Under the title there is a short description (?) That doesn't really make sense but pretend it does. You can send as many requests as you like, but each request has a max of 2 characters. If you ask for 2 characters the scenario will be shorter than if you ask for just 1.

Examples:

~ what is your so dressing up as? Matching costumes? Or do they not even want to dress up??

10) Bonfires!!

~ going to a bonfire with your s/o? Perfect! A cosy way to spend the night . Are you with friends, family or just the two of you?

11) Fireworks!!

~ You and your s/o going to see the fireworks light up the night sky. The colourful bursts contrasting against the dark sky is perfect for a late night picnic

12) Visiting a haunted house / amusement park

~ will your s/o get scared, or will they put on a brave face? Find out in the house of horrors!

13) Going to see the fnaf movie !!

~ self explanatory…

14) Ghost Hunting!!

~ Will you and your s/o catch some paranormal activity? Will it spook you, or make you laugh? Will your s/o faint at the sight of a ghost, or will they stay strong?

The only changes to last years one is the fandom list is considerably reduced, and there are two new prompts. Same rules as for a normal request applies!

Themes | Rules & Guidelines | Submissions & Posting

Note: this post may be edited and added to as we get closer to Bylerween and receive more questions. Up-to-date as of 09/29/2023.

Question: Where are the themes? Where are the prompts? Answer: Here. The more detailed prompts are under the read-more cut.

Q: How do I submit an entry to this event? A: It’s as simple as making a tumblr post and tagging us! Please see this post for more info.

Q: What counts as a "fanwork"? A: We are accepting more than just fanart and fanfiction. We invite you to be creative with your Bylerween entries! You can post artwork, fanfics, video edits, gifsets, moodboards, memes, analysis, playlists, whatever you can come up with—if it's creative, fits the themes, and follows the rules, it's fair game.

Q: Can I post one piece of fanwork that includes multiple prompts/themes? A: Yes. Feel free to use inspiration from just one, two, or all three themes for each day! When trying to determine which Day theme fits best for posting a fanwork that touches on multiple themes across multiple days, feel free to just use your best judgment and post on the day/theme that has a bigger part in the fic, or is the closest match.

Q: Do I need to use any of the themes? A: This answer is a "yes, but"! We tried to be thorough with all of our Bylerween themes to cover all things Halloween + Autumn, but if you think there's a theme that we missed, please let us know! You also have the freedom to stretch the themes a little bit. Theoretically, as long as it features Byler and Halloween, autumn, or horror/supernatural themes, you're good to go.

Q: Does [X] fit this theme day, or this theme day? Which day should I post? A: Use your discretion on which theme your fanwork best fits, and you can tag multiple themes. Post on the day that corresponds best to the most prominent theme in your fanwork (use your discretion)!

Q: Can I use an old fanwork I've already posted somewhere else as an entry for Bylerween? A: No. The point is to inspire a wave of new fanworks. We will be highlighting pre-Bylerween fics/artwork in the weeks leading up to Byler Halloween Week, and have a daily queue of older Byler posts running until the event.

Q: What is a Bylerween Rec, and how do I submit one? A: We want to highlight older fanfics before Bylerween officially starts! Beginning October 1st, you can send us asks recommending fics published before Bylerween that are relevant to our themes! Please see our post here for more information. We will tag these submissions #Bylerween Rec

Q: Can the fic I post be a prequel/sequel to/in the same universe as another one I've already posted? A: Yes! As long as it is a new work, fits one of our themes/prompts, and follows our rules and guidelines, you can post it for Bylerween.

Q: Can I post my Bylerween fanwork to other platforms (outside of Tumblr and AO3)? A: Yes.

Q: How do I post to the AO3 collection? A: See this article for a generic, step-by-step how-to. Our AO3 collection is here. Please wait until your fic's best-fit theme day to post!

Q: Do chaptered fics need to be posted all at once? A: No! Just make sure chapter one is posted on the designated theme day, feel free to update as you are able (take your time, or schedule posts, and there's no real obligation to finish).

Q: What if I don't finish my work in time? A: We will accept late entries until November 22nd, which is 3 weeks after bylerween ends. However, after the event ends on Nov 1st, we will not be updating the blog as frequently.

Q: Can our fanwork feature other non-Byler ships or other characters?/Can we post genfic? A: Yes, and please do! If you feature other ships, the work must be Byler-centric. If you're writing genfic, it does not need to be Byler-centric, but Byler must be in there somehow!

Q: Some of your trigger tags seem like they might be NSFW. Does this mean you'll accept NSFW fanworks? A: No. We will not be sharing any sexually explicit fanworks to this blog. It is not lost on us that horror themes are often intertwined with sensuality, and that sometimes sexual themes are subjectively interpreted. In such cases where the sexual nature of a fanwork is ambiguous, we (the Bylerween mods) will use our discretion to determine whether or not the work will be featured. If you want to be extra safe, you can send us a DM (if you prefer not to DM this blog, you can message either Ayla @howtobecomeadragon or Jo @wheelersboy privately) with specific details ahead of time. TL;DR no porn.

Q: Who made your graphics? Who designed your desktop theme? A: That would be Angel @light-lanterne :)

Q: Who made your icon? A: It's a bylerween exclusive made by the lovely Elz @bylrndgm <3

A Gift exchange is when a bunch of people get together and create for each other. You will secretly be assigned someone to make something for, and someone will secretly be assigned you. Key word- IT’S A SECRET! So don’t tell anyone who you got!

So, it’s winter themed! Winter theme isn’t a requirement, but we’d like to keep all pieces about Super Paper Mario.

You can crossover with other characters if your person (assignment) wants it, but your pieces should be SPM centered,

A good thing about my husband is he prefers the chocolate side of the black & white cookies. I eat the white side and leave the chocolate side for him.

Feeling extra tired tonight. Today I talked to the nurse in my office who started Nov 6th. She said she's still not up and running, yet. She has yet to do an in person assessment on her own. She's done a few telemed visits on her own. THREE MONTHS?? She still doesn't have all of her equipment (laptop, etc) I feel like I could do an assessment on my own right now. I do not want to sit around for another three months. Blah. I can handle a month of being way under used but THREE MONTHS?? Again, I think I will like the job when I am on my own but do not want to spend three months not working. People have made comments about me going down to pick up a coffee order - max five minutes. Which is an insane thing to question - even if I actually had work to do. So its not like I can go on long walks, etc. Again, I knew to expect some of this from a city job. I think I'm going to like the work once I'm actually working. Three days doing home visits and two days in the office sounds like a good match. But three months of no work sounds truly terrible.

Went to Trader Joe's to get $50 worth of cupcakes/cake donations for the Black History Month celebration at school on Friday. The theme is historically black universities. Bee's grandma - who went to Howard - was supposed to come but she's in the hospital. Bummer. She'll be fine but still sucky. Anyway, if you need food donations for something Trader Joes will normally donate $50 a monthly basis. You have to find the person in charge of nonprofit donations for that store. Then bring in a letter with your Tax ID and explanation of what you will use it for. Easy Peasy.

Our daycare owner offered up free Michael Jackson on Broadway tickets. We are going tmrw night. I wouldn't pay to see it but I am looking forward to it.

I don't get the Taylor Swift obsession. She's fine. Good for her for finding love but her music just doesn't do it for me. I don't hate it but don't love it. So far, the girls aren't super into her. I'm hoping it stays that way. Now Tracy Chapman is an obsession I can totally get behind. She's so beautiful. You can tell what a bright light she is. No one can do it as well as her but I liked Luke Comb's parts in the song.

Big thanks to everyone who voted in our poll recently. We can now happily announce that Snowbarry Week 2022 is happening from Monday November 7th to Sunday November 13th this year.

We’ve chosen the prompts from those submitted to us so as to speed the process along and give everyone plenty of time to create. And we’ve also got extras for artists, as well as a few song prompts.

Who can participate in Snowbarry Week?

ANYONE! Writers, giffers, manip-ers (?), fan artists smol and toll. We welcome fan fiction, gifsets, manips, fanart, fanmixes, …

Can days be combined?

YES! Social media with shop AU? Or friends with benefits and alternate fandom? All joking aside, you can combine whichever prompts you’d like.

Can I create work for both the artists prompts and the writer prompts?

ABSOLUTELY YES!

Can I use the artists prompts for a fic, or the writer prompts for art work?

GO CRAZY!

If I want to contribute something do I have to do something for every day?

Not at all. You’re free to commit to a single day, and we will be so flipping excited to see it. The point is just to have fun with the prompts, even if it’s just the one.

Can I post a WIP that I started working on before that fits a Snowbarry Week theme?

Yes, of course! We’re not a Big Bang, or even a Mini Bang, we don’t require art or fic to have been created from scratch for exactly this week.

I’m going to be busy/out of town during Snowbarry Week. Can I post early/late?

We’d really like to avoid early posting. If you’re out of town or too busy the week itself you can always schedule posts for the correct dates.

Posting late shouldn’t be a problem. Posting Day 1 on Day 3 is also perfectly fine, just make sure we can tell which day you’re posting for, so our heads don’t start spinning.

What does free day mean?

Basically, free day is where you decide what prompt you want to do something with. As long as it’s Snowbarry (or one of its variations like Savifrost, Flashfrost, etc), you’re okay to do whatever you want. A free day in the middle of the week might also provide some much needed breathing space for all the contributors.

Also, the same as last year, our free day now doubles as an opportunity to create for any of our past prompts! If there was a prompt you didn’t manage to finish something for, or just always liked the sound of doing but missed the opportunity, we’d love to see that for this day to have a fun revival of some of the great prompts from past events.

What does [insert theme] mean?

Oh man, this is a hard one to answer. Bloggers could be about Barry's blog in canon, or a slight AU where Caitlin has a blog as a hobby, or an AU where the characters blog professionally, or it could even be a story told in the style of blog posts! We can’t tell you which roles to cast your characters in, because everyone has different interpretations. If you can justify the connection, we’re pretty sure you’re good.

Does my idea fit the theme?

Like we said above, if you can justify it, we’re pretty sure you’re good. If you’re really not sure, hit us up!

Hello Witch Hat Atelier Fandom! It’s around that time of the year again that I’m reminded just how late winter officially starts—nonetheless, it’s time for our annual Winter Secret Gift Exchange!

For this gift exchange, you will choose a prompt that you want to receive, and your secret gift-giver will make something in that theme. This thing can be art, fanfiction, edits, or even something physical! Just keep in mind that you will post photos of anything physical as your submission.

I decided to repost my earlier translation that went up to February 10th to include latter messages, and because I missed several posts from Paradox Tribe that haven't been linked on Twitter. I'm sorry for the trouble!

Note: these translations prioritize conveying the writing style and meaning of the members' messages, so they aren’t word-for-word.

Also note that this is a thematic compilation about the Consolation match, so I omitted some fluff messages (mostly from Rokuta) and posts about Kei and Itsuki's birthdays, which you can already find on this blog.

Thank you, everyone, for listening to our new song a lot. This time, we've expressed the theme of destruction and regeneration even more vividly. Just like a blue sky reflects in a cracked mirror, or like a withered flower leaves behind it's seeds to create the future, even in harsh conditions, the world goes through change and rebirth. Creating the new world is the role and mission of 1Nm8.

I made the track with the image of taking the status quo that is slowly spiraling downward to rapidly break, purify it and restore it to normal.

In order to write a new chapter, spin a new story for this world, we cannot lose.
