This debate about the nct-ification of shinee is interesting to me because I felt very strongly when I first saw don’t call me that I didn’t like the vibes at all because it felt like it was trying to emulate the bs style of kpop, with more of the type of attitude associated with western black hip hop artists. And I have mixed feelings about the kpop artists that mainly perform with that style because of the way the lack of cultural context makes the appropriation so inappropriate. Like, it’s silly and cringe! And it felt to me like sm was having shinee do music more in that style because bts is known for it and very successful. But Don’t Call Me wasn’t that that bad about it, their outfits and the stage performance and the song weren’t particularly cringe in that way, so ultimately I ended up enjoying that comeback plenty. And now with this next album it seems like a similar debate to the one I had in my own mind back then. I don’t have any really seriously held opinions on Hard yet, but I do dislike ncts general vibes, as it has always felt very bland and lacking in personality. I’ve tried to get into them before, especially after key collabed with Jeno because I loved his vocal style, and I just didn’t find any of the groups material very compelling or interesting. Anyways, saw you were talking about this and thought I’d give my thoughts. Sorry for the long ask haha. Love your blog as always~

it's very weird how your bias group, and the expectations you have if them can affect your perspective.

itaewon f4 omg what a time to be alive. kinda crazy that they're basically the it boys of the 3rd gen and they haven't monetized it at all. not that they necessarily have to but idk i would love to see a collab stage/photoshoot/variety show SOMETHING??? though they are all too popular for that now ;_;

my pet theory is that jungkook doesn’t wanna monetize his friendships because army would eviscerate them. like nct 127 got mistaken as bts in america once and army spent like an entire month calling them clout chasing money grabbers for being microaggressed. nct winwin isn’t even friends w them but got ssng pictures circulated by literally tens of thousands of army out of spite just for being an nct 97 liner. you can’t even mention bangtan in half a whisper without having army on your ass.

jaehyun is simply unwilling. that leaves mingyu, eunwoo, yugyeom, and bambam, who i think are the next four most notable group chat members…. i wanna see mingyu and eunwoo together on bambam’s show. i think that’s totally viable.

i know minghao and dk are also in the group chat but i think dk is too shy to contribute (went to high school with jaehyun but was scared to talk to him bc jaehyun was too handsome (jaehyun was scared to talk to dk because dk was too popular)) and minghao definitely got added to the gc by mingyu and immediately muted it and forgot about it

I dont understand why doyoung is pushing himself with woo when I kinda feels like woo is not into him...ofcourse woo can make people laugh and do likes that very much that is also why he likes johnny...but that doesn't mean he have better chemistry with woo even than tae? Why he only care about the promotion and things??

Were you in the fandom when Jungwoo was introduced with U and then added to 127? (2018)

Jungwoo clung to Doyoung like a bur. Literally sometimes.

Back in 2018 Doyoung took special care of Jungwoo as the new member (similar how he did with Shotaro). He was the welcoming party, the moral support, he showed the ropes and was with Woo for "first times" like flying in an airplane or living abroad in a hotel. Do was in Woo's shoes, when he himself joined 127 with a delay (he got hate from knets as well). Doyoung was a prime target of "confident gay" game as well.

So Doyoung took care of Woo and showed publicly his acceptance of him (and he is one of t7s members, the beginning). Lucas, Shotaro, WinWin, Xiaojun, Rookies2022 - Doyoung takes care of all new NCT members.

After getting a jealous boyfriend and seeing how Woo assimilated well and developed friendships, Doyoung was gradually distancing himself from Woo, however after the Neo City tour Woo went on a half year hiatus. After he came back, Doyoung renewed his shaperoning. SM also started to push Woo a lot and sent him on programmes and for photoshoots with Do and Jae.

By this point I think Doyoung simply acts out of habit (the way he always insists on his love for Jeno). Jungwoo has other connections fans can like him for (with Mark, Sungchan, MC co-hosts), he is pretty popular, so technically Do can let go of Sabujaks. Still, most duos are long-lived in 127, and Jungwoo is not as confident as he pretends to be (which he hides really well, we get to know about from TMIs and messages from managers and the members).

Before Doyoung helped with variety and modelling. What is happening now is Jungwoo is established as a singer with Do's help. Hyuk might be paired with Woo in the songs, but on the side he is working with Taeil because it's time for him to work on his dream of becoming a songwriter. Plus Woo chose Hyuk as the member who he would be having troubles with if Hyuk was born as his kid. Hyuk annoys even the master of annoyance Woo. Meanwhile Doyoung can match anyone's voice.

Taeyong is a super popular member. As a duo TaeDo are strong and do get content for two on the regular basis. It looks like it is Doyoung who is refusing collabs with Taeyong (Tae wanted him for his soundcloud, he urges Do to write lyrics). He wants Tae to make friends elsewhere.

DoWoo work together well. Yes, they pull in different directions, but most people don't notice it. They don't have chemistry and easy rapport, but as two individuals they work well because they have same goals (popularity) and view on things (it's OK to be fake). Woo can get away with lots of things (like calling Doyoung a "fool"), but ultimately he listens to Doyoung.

Best chemistry combos: JaeDo, TaeDo, 2Dongs.

Middle range: DoWoo, JohnDo, DoYu

Not so good: DoIl, DoMark.

JohnDo had a cold war, Yuta developed his career in Japan, Hyuk is too busy and has Sun&Moon. JaeDo were under the ban.

DoIl are great in physical games, but they have different pace for anything else. Mark is busy, Mark has problems with Do bossing him. He doesn't need to be advertised, he is super popular as it is (and MarkHyuk is the original forever canon ship).

Neo CreaTures

Hello and welcome to my first ever collab call to celebrate me hitting a huge follower milestone! This is dedicated to everyone who loves the supernatural – like me – and enjoys writing a little more interesting creatures than just vampires and werewolves – which of course are still lovely. Under the cut you’ll find a list of awesome creatures to turn our favorite boys into – or even the reader if that’s the route you want to go. Our main theme is it to have some fun and post a variety of different spooky or not so spooky fics throughout October to spread our love for the supernatural. To claim a spot, simply dm me @raibebe your member and creature of choice and I’ll add you to this post as long as the spot is still up for claim.

Reblogs are appreciated even if you chose to not enter the collab to reach a wider audience!

As always: First come, first serve

The fic has to be about the chosen member, meaning he is supposed to be the main character, you’re of course allowed to add in as many of the others as you want

You can bend the lore/appearance of your creature of choice how you may seem fit. Just don’t start telling me dwarfs turn into wolves every full moon.

Deadline is October 31st 2021

Minimum word count is 2k. This should be doable, it’s a lot of time until October. If you choose to write it in multiple parts, just send me the part you want to have linked on the masterlist.

No timestamps/drabbles, bullet points, social media AUs or reactions. Fics. That’s it.

Open to all genres, it doesn’t have to be horror or gory but I would love to read some darker pieces that are perfect for the season

If you want to include smut in your work, you have to be of age. No exceptions.

Even though all NCT members are of age, please refrain from writing smut for Jisung, Chenle and Sungchang, since otherwise Jisung will call the police on us.

Tag your work accordingly if you have potentially triggering stuff in it. When in doubt – you should probably tag it. But you can always ask which brings me to the next point:

Joining the discord is not mandatory but I’d encourage you to because it’s a great way to get to know your fellow writers and maybe ask for advice or just to chat about our boys.

That’s also where I’ll post announcements and stuff

List of creatures to choose from.

Some creatures are fairly similar but I wanted to give you as many choices as I could come up with without having to choose absolutely crazy creatures. As said before you’re free to bend the lore of the creatures, this is just a guide – mostly off of Wikipedia – to some of the lesser known creatures. Warning: Some creatures are darker and more gore-y than others. The descriptions are as ungraphic as possible.

Vampire: A living corpse that feeds on the blood of the living to survive

Werewolf: A human with the ability to shapeshift into the form of a wolf

Werecat: A human with the ability to shapeshift into the form of a feline

Angel: A pure, benevolent intermediary between humans and god, protectors and guiders for humans, servants of god

Guardian angel: Godsend protector and guider for humans

Fallen angel: Angel that has become tainted by sin and fell from heaven

Devil: Ruler of the underworld, personification of evil and temptation

Demon: Supernatural creature usually associated with evil and sin

Incubus: Male demon that gains his energy from engaging in sexual activity

Succubus: Female demon that gains her energy from engaging in sexual activity

Yokai: Spirits and monsters in Japanese folklore, ranging from mischievous and malevolent creatures believed to cause misfortune and harm to some that are considered to bring good fortune

Ghost: Soul or spirit of a dead person that can appear to the living

Poltergeist: Type of ghost responsible for physical disturbance, often bound to the places the soul died in

Warlock: Male practitioner of witchcraft

Witch: Female practitioner of witchcraft

Necromancer: Practitioner of magic involving communication with the dead

Genie/Jinn: Neither innately evil or good spirit

Shapeshifter: A human possessing the ability to physically transform their body

Ghoul: Demon-like creature associated with graveyards and consuming human flesh

Zombie: Undead revenant

Siren: Creature half bird and half woman who lures sailors by the sweetness of her song

Mermaid/Merman: Aquatic creature with an upper body in human form and the tail of a fish

Nymph: Minor nature deity, generally regarded as personifications of nature, tied to a specific place or landform

Dryad: Tree nymph

Fairy: Magical creature with human appearance, magical powers and a penchant for trickery

Elf: Beings with magical powers and supernatural beauty, ambivalent to humans, capable of either helping or hindering them

Gnome: Diminutive spirit that typically lives underground

Dwarf: Entity hat dwells in mountains and in the earth, associated with wisdom, smithing, mining and crafting

Satyr: Bawdy male nature spirit with horse/goat like legs, ears and horns

Centaur: Creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse

Naga: Creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake

Harpy: Half human, half bird personification of storm winds

Dragon: Large, serpentine creature that breathes fire

Kitsune: In Yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shapeshift into human form they have the ability to trick others but are also portrayed as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives

Phoenix: Long-lived bird that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again, often through burning his body and being reborn from the ashes

Basilisk: Legendary reptile reputed to be a serpent king, who can cause death with a single glance

Unicorn: Beast with a single large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead, often portrayed as horse-like

Do you write for nct? Do you watch the hit Netflix show Arcane? If not, Do you play League of Legends? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this collab is for you! Introducing:

A collab series based off the Netflix show “Arcane”. Your story can be set in the beautiful Piltover, where the rich, smart, and beautiful live their day to day lives in luxury, paying no mind to the undercity below. Or, you can choose to play out your story in Zaun, ravaged with crime, hate, and the smell of gas - as the people of Piltover have come to believe. Beneath the grime of the streets lay a city of people who love where they’re from and aim to clean up the place they grew up. Your story is just that - YOUR story, and can go any way you decide! Maybe your character is a ruthless Piltover Enforcer, a rich aristocrat, or a ruthless gang leader from Zaun? Let’s find out together in Dystopian Direct!

RULES

-While there’s no specific prompts, your story must be related to the series’s Arcane. You can have characters from that show, OC’s, other kpop idols, etc. while it is not a requirement to watch the show, I HIGHLY recommended you do so, as it will be extremely hard to write about without having seen it.

-Smut will be allowed for all members excluding Chenle-Jisung! As well, you may only write smut if you are 18+ - if I find you writing smut and you are a minor, you will be kicked from the collab NO EXCEPTIONS.

-One writer per group member, and you cannot write for more than one member

-Must be Drabbles and Oneshots only! No series, Time stamps, headcannons, etc.

No Promises Collab

This is a collab hosted based on the theme Promises are lies. However, the story doesn't necessarily have to be angst. It can also have a happy ending. It should just have the theme that promises made were broken.

.Rules

- The theme should be the based on the quote "Promises are the sweetest lies"

- First come, first serve basis

- There are 22 slots available, as I will be taking one for myself.

- No smut please! I'm a minor.

- All fics must be member x reader or member x oc. For the ease of writing, the reader doesn't need to be gender neutral. Just mention it in the pairing. The reader has to be inclusive though.

- Works that include the following themes are not allowed between the main pairing: abuse, rape, dub-con, non-con, pedophilia, incest, explicit gore, romanticisation of mental issues, and triggering topics.

- No plagiarism!

- Any genre is allowed, but angst is compulsory There should be a point when a promise made is broken. It can be the member's promise to the reader or vice versa.

- Having discord is mandatory for communication purposes.
