Looking for writeblrs to follow & interact with! (Interact with this tag game!)
Thank you @leisoree for the tag!
HOW TO PLAY: Look back on your work, both past and present, finished and unifinished. What are five to ten narrative elements or tropes that regularly pop up in your writing?
overly dramatic backstories
romance (usually some form of friends-to-lovers, often strangers-to-allies-to-friends-to-lovers)
honorable soft boys who'll go to war for what's right
swords always
using formatting of paragraphs/pages to contribute to tone
saving the world (and other extreme sports)
Tagging any and all writeblrs!! This is a fun one! Plus I'm looking for more writeblrs to follow and interact with <3 (Follows/likes/comments from my main - mischiefisgreen)

Looking for Writeblrs
Tumblr media
Hello, hello there! My name's Jasper Y. Grace, I'm an artist and writer, and I'm looking for more writers to connect with. If you're an active writeblr, feel free to interact with this post and tell me about your stories!
Bonus points if:
high fantasy, high tech (a la Arcane, for example)
a poetic, flowery style of writing
romance is not the main focus of the story
a story meant for an older audience
you're also an artist or have art for your stories!
Boosts are greatly appreciated. I'll also include a little bit about my work under the cut :^)
Tumblr media
An Immortal Laid to Rest
Also know as Project : Desert, this is my current book working on. It's a novella featuring the dual POVs of Vincent Helio, an ordained archivist trying to live up to expectations, and Orias, a shapeshifter who's been trapped in the desert for over a millennium.
It's a story centered around the concept of freedom, both physical and mental, and the love we show others. If you like character-driven stories, then I hope you'll stick around :^)
You can check out some of the story's art and writing here.

i had a dream that the clouds looked like you, pink in the sunset. you were the ghost of a lighthouse and when we fell in love all your shackles fell off in great grey chunks. we became fish-squid-humans, unkillable and round as the sun. our children were whales, and we grew past the size of cruise ships. i cursed poachers with my own blood; only to relent, knowing the pain of drowning just close-enough, warning them: do better. be well. don't make a mistake you can't come back from.
how quietly you've slipped inside me, little seal shifting me under the water. this little dance we are both stepping, our hands just-quite not-touching. like mermaids, sometimes i think our form is the shape of the ocean. sometimes i think we are too horribly human, too terrified of the rip and torrent.
i have thought about my hand in your hair enough, and the curve of your cheekbone, and how you wait for a moment to gather your thoughts before telling a joke. i have thought about the tension that grows in cables between us, a little spined bridge neither of us will cross unless the situation dramatically shifts. i have thought about the way you tilt your head when considering something i blurted, how you show just-half of your smile when you know more than i did.
what even are you two? she asks me, stirring her coffee, her brows knitting. i shrug noncommittally.
somewhere, we are mermaids, eternally. in this world, for now - i tell her: i think we're just... enjoying.

Follower Milestone
I don't usually notice my follower count, which means milestones fly past me before I spot them, but I happened to glance at it today and, uh...
Tumblr media
How are there almost 500 of you!?
It's giving me the urge, for the first time, to do some sort of celebration. No idea what though, I'll have to give it a think.
If you've got any idea's, feel free to drop them in the comments/reblogs, or shoot me an ask! Most follower celebrations I see are art based, and I give stick figures a bad name so that's not going to fly I'm afraid.
Regardless of whether I can think of something, thank you all for being here. <3

Hey!
I'm looking to follow more sci-fi/fantasy writers so we can talk nerd stuff together and share our wips.
What I'm writing is a YA soft sci-fi fantasy adventure novel that has all kinds of fun, cheesy sci-fi tropes like found family, powers, last of their kind, jalopy homeship, a rogue who hates that he has a moral center, empathic aliens, a political coup, a splinter cell within a peaceful organization, DNA experimentation, spaceships, lost society, good vs. evil, not so easy to tell good from evil, humor, deep emotional moments, and small slice-of-life moments that bring the reader into the characters so that when something big happens to them, they care about them.
I am a demi-heteroromantic-ace, so romantic relationships aren't integral to the plot. The relationships are platonic and found family, but there is a small hint of romantic interest.
The main MC, Yune, is demi-ace because it's easier for me to write, and that's just who he turned out to be. His creation was organic and completely unplanned. He wasn't even supposed to be in this story beyond a passing mention, and yet here I am with my space pilot who loves cookies.
Will and Terra are 10, so don't even go there.
Selka is comfortable in her own skin, and she's bi. It's not mentioned because it doesn't matter - in fact, no one's is mentioned, because it doesn't matter to the story - but there are background moments where it's implied. Most of her species is bi, since they're empathic and telepathic, and care more about what they sense of a person than the body they inhabit. Though being attracted to someone physically is still an element that comes into play, it's not a deal-breaker.
I'll never claim to be writing the next great IP of the genre. I'm just writing something I would enjoy reading or watching. I do love me so worldbuilding, so prepare for that.
You want worldbuilding help? I gotchyu. :)
If you write sci-fi - hard or soft sci-fi - sci-fi fantasy (these include more of a fantasy element like powers, and playing fast and loose with physics), and/or fantasy - like sword and sorcery, let me know in the comments or tags. :)
It's ok if you have romance in your stories. I'm just looking for other nerds.
Thanks! :)

It's my 5 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
[WRITEBLR RE-INTRODUCTION]
I honestly can't believe it's been 5 years since I started this writeblr. I was very active here for quite some time, and I enjoyed this writing community like no other.
I got a doctorate (you may now call me Mischief, MD or Dr. Mischief, which makes me sound like a DC comics villain) and that was obviously a huge privilege and milestone. But it also cost me a lot, particularly in my creative life! I've been taking some time to recover my creative spirit, and I'm ready to wade back into writing.
So consider this my writeblr re-introduction.
Name: Mischief, or Mis for short
I write: primarily scifi/fantasy, which is also my favorite genre to read. I'll dabble into anything though, including the occasional fanfic. You can check out old WIPs here on this blog!
I like: literally anything related to writing including asks, tag games, and getting to know your WIPs!
Details: I'm 25, fem, married, USA, currently living in the CST zone
That's pretty much it! I love the writeblr community so much, and I'd love to find new, at least semi-active writer friends to connect with and support. Please comment, reblog, DM, follow, whatever so I can check out your blog!
Follows & comments will be coming from my OG general blog, @mischiefisgreen. All my writing content is on @mischiefiswritten

Happy WBW, my thoi!
When the first wave of Inscribed showed up in Lexical Earth, what effect did that have on modern organized religion in your world?
Ohhhh I like this question. All cards on table it isn't exactly something I've thought about before, but my spirit does produce an answer.
The timeframe between when the first wave started and became visible to the wider world and when the Wyrd masquerade broke is very small. It's also more fair to say that the War Against Heaven had a larger impact on this matter as it forced the religious population of Earth to either go join their deities in Heaven, abandon their faith, or for a small population develop new beliefs regarding the Wyrd. Most popular among those belief is that the Wyrd is not divine, the god of Heaven is a deceiver, and that true divinity has yet to reveal itself. Needless to say most of earth remaining religious population are either skeptic believers, or transactional worshipers.
But you asked about the First Wave, so lets expand on that. I imagine it had a very similar, but smaller, effect that the War had. Faiths either had to accept them as divine or self made saints, or denounce them as having deceitful power. First Wavers being who they are would be all too happy to feed into the perspective of "divine saviors" or "hellish deceivers" depending on the inscribed. I imagine at least one, likely more, cults were started surrounding specific First wavers.
This ask has definitely inspired me to make a few named Firs wavers, which I'll get around to posting about once I've got something good made. Thanks for the ask Fren!

la langue d’être “lacking"
(an exploration of identity as a bilingual nonbinary person with a speech impediment)
transgenre? androgyne? non genré? queer ah "queer" c’est un beau mot
anglais.
he or she or il ou elle neither language claims room for me et les adjectifs…? je ne me connais pas en français… my second language, une moitié de mon identité I built that identity in the basement of a friend who showed me how to be une fille bilingue
though when my tongue twists up, I still remember a forgotten language (c’est plus facile d’apprendre le français que le gallois. Welsh. Cymraeg.  c’est plus utile d’oublier la langue de mes ancêtres) I left my namesake’s dreams behind to become bilingual
mais les deux langues m’ont appelé “fille”
I had all the wounds of a woman but none of the feeling, how was I meant to feel? sans sens sans sensation sans signification sans cent choses pour me définir j’ai dû chercher les mots pour me chercher find how to find myself sans culture sans genre sans sexualité sans sans sans sans…
at school they made fun of me a girl? no an alien, a monster sans confiance sans réponse  I wanted to shout “stop” but I st-st-st-stuttered sans les sons pour me défendre
and now I’m writing poetry that repeats that sound “s” s-s- ce son en anglais c’est "stutter" how can I explain when I stutter the word?
maybe words aren’t meant for me les sons sans sens - signification - qui peut saisir la sensation d’être un monstre sans description dans n’importe quelle langue
english. french. bilingue.
plus grande que la langue    je me construis une identité        de la vérité
“queer” c’est un beau mot but I don’t have to define myself in your language
french. anglais. femme. homme.
Non.  it’s language that’s lacking. Not me. who am I?
cette réponse n'appartient qu’à moi-même.

Just wanted to say that seeing the response people have had to my WIP/WIP intro has not only shocked me but brought me immense joy. I'd kinda convinced myself that writeblr wasn't interested in contemporary litfic the same way fantasy/sci-fi/supernatural etc WIPs gain so much traction/support on here, and that I should just accept that and move on (not that that would ever stop me from working on my WIP, just sharing anything about it). So seeing the interest that SCIF has gotten was quite special. Even if those who have left kind comments on the post never return, it was nice to at least feel acknowledged and I'll be returning to those tags anytime I doubt this story could ever gain an audience on here.
