Oh, bitchin'! I finally lived to the moment someone asked me about my Laurence!!!!!! Alright let's see,

🩸 How did he end up at Byrgenwerth in the first place?

Oh, in my case, that's simple! I only mention my headcanons about his Loran + Cainhurst roots in every other post about him, so he simply was willing to study history and archaeology! If scattered Cainhurst warriors armours all over the dungeons are of any indication, the nobles were in a long struggle to retract their legacy from their Pthumerian ancestors! Laurence particularly wanted to know more about their superhuman evolution... and what did they do to anger the 'Stars and Moon' themselves.

This is pretty obvious, right? He simply was able to pay for studying, as well as proven himself a worthy scholar with his prior education.

Well, here is for his dad, Beltran:

Yeah, I am using this image often, but it is easier to just use it than explain myself every time fsdhfhsd (As for evidence for his name being Beltran, this is what Lance said on Twitter ( x ), he is one of the coolest dataminers in BB that can be trusted!)

The more I think about it, the more I feel like maybe the 3D guy in dark feathered cape and the guy from the portrait should be different characters from the same lineage. The grandfather and the father maybe? But yeah, in either case, Laurence's dad was a librarian in Cainhurst! I've been thinking that it's more likely if it was Laurence's mother who was a Loranite, since the portrait guy is like... well, he is very white, you know. And the father adopted the knowledge and the ideals, you know, how in some cases upon marriage, you assume your spouse's religion.

So, Laurence and his family would be a bit of black sheep in the walls of Cainhurst, with legacy dating back to Loran Clerics rather than Pthumeru Ihyll. It has even deeper roots, as the very first Queen of Blood used Fort, the man from Loran that went against Flora and helped Fauna to overpower her, as her sacrifice in unholy marriage ritual. But that's for another time, really, or I'll be here all day! In any case, Laurence had special interest in his legacy, and especially in what could have turned... differently.

You'd then expect him to be close with Maria and my Caryll since childhood, but their interactions were almost exclusively formal! Laurence would also spend his childhood and teen years studying abroad, visiting not very often - and upon visits, mostly sticking with his father! So, as for whether he'd count as childhood friend of Maria and Caryll...?

However, he has been developing quite an ego and arrogant approach! For example, he has been meeting Micolash enough times even before both enrolled in Byrgenwerth, since the boy was under the wing of Hemwick Witches and even one from Cainhurst. Laurence and Micolash had enough of banter, boiling down to Laurence insulting him with the "I do not speak Poor, sorry uwu" attitude xd It has been every other time they've met through YEARS. Well... he was surprised when Micolash proved to be charismatic and intelligent enough to be accepted in Byrgenwerth even without being able to pay, let's say so...

Honestly, he hardly had any friends besides his father back in those days. His enrolling in Byrgenwerth was when his social life truly began! It helped to patch the two decades of awkwardness with Maria up, but as for Caryll, they were still being in passive-aggressive enmity.

Ehhhhh, it's a long story... I will link my interpretation of the Healing Church and Byrgenwerth being one before just in case ( x ), but yeah, in a way, Willem started the 'vibe'...? He was the Pope (the first and the last), and Laurence became his Vicar; afterwards, he never dared to appoint another Pope, but his own position became closer to a Bishop. The religious affinity came because of natural reverence for the Great Ones upon encountering them, which Willem and his companions (Dores and Gatekeeper) did first in Isz. I'll just refer to the Doll's dialogue, about how 'Gods' created their creations in such a way that they will naturally love them, unconditionally....

Laurence, in the end, not just 'didn't mind' - he knew how effective the religious institution could be! Like I said, he spent a lot of his life abroad, and was aware of religions in other countries! For example, Gascoigne's lore speaks of him having been the 'Father' (religious) in his country's religion, that is not a rank in the Healing Church. If anything, Laurence would be quick to spot what makes the religion "work" and help to nurture the institution and the influence, even at the start proving to be a better leader than Willem could've been.

But like I said, deep down, Laurence had his own interest and even secret reverence for the 'Moon Presence', that was the secret power standing behind (or above) the 'Stars', that was the emotional fuel for his otherwise very pragmatic, even machiavellian approach. Call in ancestral guilt or whatever... And, again, the healing properties of the blood tie far, far back in history towards defiling a Great One (Flora's unborn Oedon that grew up as merely the voice in the blood of mortals). So as a result, engaging in communion with it would tie to the essence of a deity itself. People were naturally caught up in reverence and sense of connection with something bigger!

The funniest thing I've ever had for my Laurence is this stupid ass outdated meme:

hdgsgs But yeah, in general, I think his favourite was not Ludwig, but Logarius! Ludwig was quite a valuable asset for him, and of course a very good man, but Logarius was loyal to him not out of delusions of the great future or sharing communion with the "moonlight", but genuinely, from the bottom of his heart, and Laurence could appreciate that (sinister) lucidity. My Laurence just leans more towards 'dark' people, such as Logarius, Brador... Micolash, in the scenario where they resolve their life-long rivalry. People like Ludwig and even Gehrman to an extent feel "too good, too pure" for him; he doesn't dislike them, but the decent, well-meaning people fall for the role of his pawns in the end. Logarius was one of the sacrifices for his goals that he never truly recovered from. Yes, awful and cringe, I know.

He also smiled like maybe two times during his lifetime at best fdshfhds He is sad, serious, thoughtful, often even gloomy most of the time. The humour around this character is that he is an absolute dumbass that fucked everything up, that's it.

Not Strong Enough - Paul Lahote

This is so rushed and you can tell lol. I started this months ago, last summer. Also I hate writing dialogue and this is basically all that so yay for Jo!

“ I know you're awake Y/n”. His voice cut through the silence of the night. 

You didn't stir. You were trying to keep your breath even, praying that he would roll over and go back to sleep. He didn't need to be bothered with the late-night demons you were fighting. He had so much that he was dealing with when it came to the pack, Sam has given him more responsibility in the past few months. You knew it was weighing on him but he never complained not wanting to burden you, even when you begged him to vent to you. Seeing him bottle his emotions only caused you to feel more emotional at the thought of him being sad and feeling like he couldn't talk to you. 

“Y/n you're not fooling me love”. He reached out and turned his lamp on before rolling over to face you. Still, you didn't move. 

Embarrassment flushed your cheeks and tears threatened to spill as you attempted to blink them away. Rubbing at your eyes to cover up the evidence of your dejected attitude. Even though Paul was quite literally watching your every move. 

“What's wrong?”. 

“I don't know what you're talking about Paul, you woke me up with your booming voice”. 

He opened his mouth to retort what you said but stopped. Pausing to tilt his head to the side, much like a dog does when watching in anticipation. His eyes scanned your body, up and down as he tried to figure out if something was physically wrong with you. When he couldn't find anything wrong his eyes traveled to yours, locking in place. You just blinked, not wanting to budge. 

“Y/n I love you, and I have loved you since I first met you. I know you. I know everything about you. Like how you always take a gasping gulp of air right before you fall asleep or how after you have been asleep for a little while you start to snore a little bit, not too loud but enough for me to hear. It's something I love, it soothes me. So yes, I know that you weren't sleeping”. 

That was enough to break the dam. 

Tears came out in droves as you bawled, burying your head in your hands. Paul acted in no time, immediately shifting to sit up, pulling you into his chest cradling your head as you sobbed. Fear was pulsing through his veins as he watched your chest heave up and down, gasping to catch your breath. His hand that wasn't holding your head rubbing small circles on your arm, attempting to provide comfort. 

Slowly your tears came to a sputtering stop as you were able to fill your lungs up with enough air to begin to calm down. His hand didn't stop, because he was right with what he said earlier, he knew you. His grounding touch in your moment of panic was one of, if not the only thing that could bring you back to reality. 

You turn your head up. Lifting it from his chest to gaze up at him. 

His face shone with pure love and admiration as he gazed down at you. The hand that had clutched your head moved to your face, his thumb wiping away the stray tears that had yet to cascade down your cheeks slightly puffy from your outburst. His lips softly pressed against your forehead, lingering as he felt you relax under his touch. You shifted again, this time turning so you could lean your head on his shoulder, your legs dangling off his lap. 

“So how are you going to tell me what's going on?”. 

“I'm scared”. 

You felt his body tense under your words. The sudden onset of anxiety filled the dimly lit room. 

“What do you have to be scared of?”. His voice was calm but the way his grip tightened around you was another indicator of his sudden mood change. 

“Becoming a mom, not being strong enough”.

You knew it was silly. 

To let this fear consume you. It's not like the idea of becoming a mom was new. You have spent the past eight months preparing for your upcoming life change. Outwardly you put on a confident front. Accepting the advice your friends and random strangers alike gave you unsolicited advice. Spending hours upon hours shopping with Emily and Kim, letting some of the tribe elders teach you how to crochet different styles of blankets for your new upcoming arrival. Learning about the teas made up of all different herbs that were supposed to aid in various pregnancy symptoms like nausea and sciatic nerve pain. You took in all of it. 

But inside you weren't handling everything as well. 

No one wanted to talk about the fears that you were harboring. No one wanted to talk about what had happened to Emily during the birth of her and Sam’s first. About how she almost lost her life because of the blood loss, because children born from the wives of the shifters were larger than ones born to human fathers. About how Sam’s screams could be heard miles away as the healers tried to push him out of the room, away from his dying wife. About how that could happen to you. 

No one wanted to talk about how you could die. 

So every night for the past few weeks as your due date was nearing closer you let yourself think of the possibility, the possibility of your mortality. 

Normally you were able to suppress it enough to fall asleep shortly after Paul. But tonight was different. 

After a day spent in Forks going to get an ultrasound and then to the healers on the reservation, you had heard someone address the possibility of complications. The talk you got from them was different, seeing as the doctors in Forks didn't know about the lineage of your husband, and his genetic abnormalities that could and probably would affect your child's birth. 

Paul had remained stoic throughout trying his best to comfort you without showing any weakness. No matter how much you tried to drill it through his thick skull showing emotion didn't make him weak he didn't budge, that was going to be a lifelong battle. 

But their words had hit you hard, the fears you had been struggling with by yourself in silence were finally being brought to light, and someone wanted to talk about them. And you had gone through all the different possibilities, all the complications, and their varying outcomes. 

And that was why you had remained awake tonight. 

Your fears were fighting off the exhaustion you felt, as your mind was on fire. Paul hadn't brought anything up, other than commenting on how big your baby was getting and about running up north to Port Angeles this weekend to pick up the last piece of furniture for the nursery. It was typical of him not wanting to bring up the things hard to talk about. And you didn't want to fight, not after such an exhausting day so you said nothing, opting for silence. 

Paul didn't know what to say, no amount of circles against your arm could provide comfort in this moment. He couldn't simply solve this problem with his touch. 

“What are you talking about, my love?”. 

“Oh come on Paul, you're telling me you aren't scared. After everything we talked about today. The possibility of me die…”. 

“Please don't Y/n”. His voice broke as he closed his eyes pulling you impossibly tight. Normally you would stop, but not tonight. No, you couldn't bottle your emotions anymore. 

“Paul, we have to talk about it. Please, I can't do this anymore. I am so scared. Paul I'm terrified about what could happen, what if I can't do this. What if I'm not strong enough to go through labor”. Part of you was proud of yourself for fighting back your tears. 

His silence was concerning. But it didn't last long. 

“My sweet girl I want to tell you that there's nothing for you to be afraid of but I think we both know that unfortunately, that's not true. However, you're stressing yourself out over something that has a very small chance of happening -”. 

“But it happened to Emily!”, you cried out cutting him off. 

That hit him hard. 

The pack had to experience the pain that Sam had felt years ago. Feeling what was causing their Alpha to crumble to pieces, to be reduced to tears as he begged someone, anyone, to help his imprint.  

And Paul had never forgotten that feeling, the look on Sam’s face. So when you had broken the news to him, told him that he was going to be a dad he panicked. He had felt the same feelings that you were feeling now but as the months went on he pushed them down. Choosing to focus on the happier things in your pregnancy, accidentally ignoring everything that was bothering you. 

Though hearing you now he had realized he messed up. 

“Y/n what happened to Emily…it was horrible. But look at her now, she is a wonderful mother to three beautiful children. Her second and third deliveries went off without a hitch, you know this”. 

“But I'm not like Emily, she's survived so much. She's invincible”, your lip was wobbling now. 

“You are the strongest woman I have ever met, Y/N. I have complete and total faith in you. I know that you can do it”. His hands were resting on your bump, your child seeming to sense their dad's presence kicking against his palm. 

“Really?”, you sniffled, a small weight lifting off your shoulders. It felt good to have this hard conversation. You knew there was so much you needed to talk about, but the bulk of it could be had in the morning, once daylight was streaming through the sheer curtains.  “You are strong enough”

This is pure speculation and I could be totally wrong, but I kind of wonder if Qian never actually asked Yuan to go abroad. It starts in episode 6 when Qian and San Pang are talking about what Qian should do instead of just staying at the office 24/7 and I think San Pang could be responsible for this whole ordeal.

“Or maybe get Yuan to move out” who proposes that? Not Qian! San Pang does. And we do NOT see Qian’s response. We don’t know what Qian’s genuine answer is at all! It just cuts to San Pang coming to Yuan’s home. If anything the fact that San Pang is coming home to get Qian’s stuff for a business trip makes me think Qian made the decision to leave instead of kicking Yuan out.

San Pang is a meddler. He’s getting himself involved into their relationship for better or for worse. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the one who plotted this. Qian HAD been setting aside money for Yuan to study abroad before Yuan ever confessed, that much is true. It could be that he told San Pang about the money and instructed him to tell Yuan to leave but originally studying abroad was never related to Yuan’s feelings for Qian.

“Does he hate me that much that he can’t even tell me this himself?” That’s the line that really gave me this feeling of “what if he never told him to leave at all.” And San Pang doesn’t have to say much, just that it’s what Qian wants, and Yuan agrees because of course he’ll do what his Ge asks of him. “He wants me to leave, the sooner the better, right?” and off he goes.

But Qian cries!! He leaves that bracelet!!! Couldn’t Qian be sad thinking Yuan has decided to leave??? Because if Qian didn’t tell him to go, he would have to assume (or San Pang would tell him directly) that Yuan left on his own volition. I mean, Qian and Yuan are literally not on speaking terms at this point. A misunderstanding could be so easy.

THEN, in the trailer we get bits that we don’t have full context for yet like this dialogue exchange between Yuan and San Pang:

“San Pang, thank you.” “Me?” “I thought a lot while I was abroad. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have had the chance to go to the US and achieved this. I’m very grateful for you.” IF IT WEREN’T FOR WHOOOOO????? SAN PANG AGAIN! He doesn’t thank Qian at all!!! So maybe somewhere along the line of studying abroad/returning home he found out it was really San Pang who came up with this plan all along (I also feel like San Pang’s expression looks a little guilty…). Hell, maybe he even came back because he learns Qian never asked him to leave.

“Why did you suddenly come back?” so it was sudden… it HAS been 4 years which is a full college term for most Americans and I’d assume he’d come back after finishing his studies and yet Qian notes it’s sudden (although counter argument, Yuan could’ve just come back without warning anyone ig).

“Didn’t you ask me to come back when I miss home?” Yuan could be lying a little here. Of course he would miss home. He would miss Qian and Lili the whole time he was there because he left due to Qian’s supposed wishes. But he also could be hiding the fact that he learned San Pang made him think Qian wanted him gone. And then we get the scene at the dinner table I mentioned before where Yuan thanks San Pang, thus revealing this fact to Qian. It would be a beautifully petty moment if that was the case. This latter part could be too much of a stretch, but for now I’m a little suspicious of San Pang’s involvement in the decision to study abroad. I guess we’ll have to find out in the coming episodes…

“What the fuck??” I spin the gamer chair to the window, I saw Miles, i get up and open the window for him, the cold wind from the winter entered your bedroom giving you chills.

He hug me back and now we’re laying face to face, I only can stare at his lips and same for Miles he just been staring my lips for almost 2 minutes straight, his hand holding my cheek, he looks so hypnotizing, I’m lost in his face, I can only feel his hand is on my cheek, now he’s approaching, so close, so so close, he kiss me, a soft and simple kiss but very meaningful, I just kiss him back, the butterflies on my stomach, “can I stay? It’s too late and I miss you so much” his puppy eyes, staring at me, I can’t resist, “of course you can” “can I sleep with you?” That question caught me off guard, now im the one who hide the face under my hands but his hand that’s on my cheeks try to take my hands off, “c’mon it’s not the first time that we slept together, why are you so awkward about it?” When your face is not covered anymore you can see a slight blush in his cheeks, “I just… like you, that’s why I came here, I was planning to text you but that would be so dishonest, I needed to do it face to face” “Miles just shut up” I instantly kiss him, softly holding his cheeks that are a bit warm, at first he got shocked but one second later he just kiss me back.

We stopped the kiss because we needed to breath, now his hands are around my hips, making imaginary circles with the fingers, “so mister Morales, may you please let me get up so I can get a blanket for us?” “Of course you can my pretty girlfriend” “girlfriend?” I can’t hide that little smile in my face, I’m feeling so happy right now, but I still tired needing to sleep, so yeah, I just loved the idea of sleeping with him. “Yup, girlfriend, or do you want a nickname like, mi vida, cariño, Hermosa, honey, you can choose.” I yawned feeling my eyes getting heavier, “can I choose one later I just want to sleep right now…. Get the blanket please” I can badly keep my eyes open, he kiss my forehead and leave the bed to get the huge blanket in the closet, he come back to the bed and when he realized you’re sleeping, a little shrunk because of the cold, but tight on sight he covered you with warm blanket and sneaking to sleep with you.

That night you sleep so well after almost a week of bad sleep, he made me relax, holding my body with his big hands and long arms, making me fell safe, now that I’m dating him I already have everything that I need, but now I’ll have to move to the Harlem to live near to him.

this might be very obvious or like well known but one thing i think goes kind of unspoken about and i think is really interesting is how when eridan does his whole "fight sollux and kill fef and kanaya" thing, he does not initiate the fight. he doesnt show up with the intention of fighting, and he certainly doesnt show up wanting to kill two people.

(its under the cut because there's a LOT of images, i wanted to make sure as much stuff as possible was in context.)

first, kanaya, because it's short.

when kanaya tells eridan about her plan to restore the troll race, this is what he says:

firstly, this implies he isn't literally on his way out and stopping to get feferi. this also makes it very clear he didn't start out wanting to kill kanaya, because if he did, he wouldn't've gotten involved in her plan. obviously. she wouldn't be able to go through with it if she was dead.

then, feferi and sollux, because he talks to both of them at once.

the thing is, the way eridan and sollux's interactions work at least to me is that they're both just vaguely annoyed with each other, then when they interact they basically just provoke each other the whole time (i dont ship erisol it just doesnt fit to me). their interactions here follow this formula.

admittedly eridan isn't exactly fond of sollux, and he is threatening him, but eridan does just kind of talk like that. they're both just pretty hostile towards each other.

and to feferi, eridan says this:

this is just an honest statement. he has no reason to lie about this.

then, theres the actual thing that causes all the problems.

then there's some more dialogue and feferi resolves herself and sollux to stopping eridan.

eridan didn't want this to happen. he wanted feferi to agree and leave with him. he didn't not want to fight sollux but it doesn't seem to have been part of his original plan.

but here's the thing. eridan doesn't kill sollux.

and that's important, because the move he uses is a very similar/more powerful version of the move he uses to kill feferi and kanaya.

i have no trouble believing he could have killed sollux, but he doesn't. he doesn't want or need to. maybe it's just energy conservation, or maybe...

maybe feferi didn't want to kill eridan. but lunging towards someone with a murderous look and a sharp object does tend to have that sort of implication. eridan for this whole time is literally just standing there. feferi is the one to escalate it to possible attempted murder.

he then kills kanaya, who only actually attacks after he destroys the matriorb. fair enough! he had no reason to do that! but at that point his ex-moirail/flushed crush had just tried to kill him and he'd killed her, so it's safe to assume his emotional state wasn't exactly stable at this point.

so as a recap/TLDR:

eridan didn't start out the conversation wanting to end up killing/maiming three people. he made a plan with kanaya that basically requires her to be alive, he has every ability to kill sollux in the duel and quite specifically doesn't, and the entire reason he's here in the first place is to protect feferi and keep her alive. he doesn't initiate the fight, and he doesn't escalate it to murder.

basically he would be correct to go "they started it"

Even more Ruin spoilers under the cut:

I had a massive brain moment about how Moon and Sun’s virus works, how it affects them both and how it’s managed to isolate them from the rest of the bots and each other!

I’m thinking back on Moon’s dialogue, just how spiteful and angry at Sun he is, it’s far more obvious than in Security Breach because he’s too busy to playing cat and mouse with Gregory to really elaborate further. And of course Sun is obviously Not pleased at the idea of letting Moon out at all, Moon clearly has a reputation for doing… something. Perhaps many somethings, who knows

But god, “no more light, no more Sun,” that’s far more forthright when it comes to the pure resentment that seems to have considerably worsened since SB. And the tables have finally turned, with Sun out in the same position of helplessly watching as his counterpart runs the show, powerless to change much save for the occasional lapse in control when Moon is flashed with a sufficiently strong light source (alternatively, the VANNI mask lets you approach the DA as a whole even while unfettered so long as you don’t take it off, and Sun is clearly stuck in alternate reality while Moon is off his entire rocker).

That constant loop. The Daycare Attendant isn’t just one entity, it’s two (now THREE but that comes after the fact). The Vanny Virus can’t just aim for one at a time, the other can take over and possibly fix them both.

So it had to get creative. Turn them against each other.

First it chose Sun, actually.

I am fully in the ballpark that Sun is also infected, he’s just affected in a way that isn’t straight up aggressive physically, but rather behaviorally. It starts out subtle. Heightened awareness but with an added touch of robo-anxiety and a strange new penchant for poking and prodding at people out of mistrust. It’s a slippery slope that gives way to an avalanche further down the line, you’ll see.

It chose Moon’s head to gradually worm it’s way into next, seizing him at opportune moments during naptime all of a sudden and retreating just as fast so he couldn’t retaliate and right himself. Build Moon a reputation as the dark and scary one, which he sadly already had even before his infection. Lean into it. Make it worse.

It’s hard to explain yourself and your actions to the increasingly testy bestie that literally lives inside your head when the thing causing you to act this way falls away and leaves you wondering if you really did intend on dropping little Darla from the balcony into the ball pit. The virus weeds into your mind and makes you feel okay with doing things you never would have otherwise.

But of course, that’s when the virus starts really amping up and finding ways to make Sun feel justified in his flimsy convictions and eventually plunge off the deep end into a spiral of conspiracies and unhinged ramblings. It ends up being horrifyingly effective when coupled with Moon’s rapidly deteriorating mental state.

He’s a thousand times more volatile and very quick to sever trust, Gregory my guy didn’t even do anything and my man Sun is pointing fingers to find someone, something, ANYTHING to blame for things going wrong around him he’s just that paranoid and out of his gourd.

That’s how the virus got him. Severe mania and trust issues out the wazoo. He’ll be cordial and nice sure thing, but you Must. Obey. His Rules. No exceptions. Even if you don’t technically do a thing wrong, if anything bad happens, Sun is quick to jump to the corkboard laden with sticky notes in his brain and somehow find somebody to pin blame on, regardless if the justification has any weight 💀

There is no three strikes with Sun. You get one (1) ☝🏽 chance, that’s it.

I also realized something really sad… how long prior to Security Breach had Moon been locked away inside Sun’s head? And how much longer after we turn the lights back on, at least until he breaks free again come Ruin? Idc how far gone you are under the Vanny Virus, being held a prisoner inside your own mind cannot possibly be good for the brain box

But the thing is… Sun thought in his virus-addled state that what he was doing was good for both of them. It’s only a matter of time before Moon straight up kills someone acting more and more Like That, so at some point one of Moon’s ‘mishaps’ ends up being the straw that breaks the camel’s back and he goes out of his way to ensure Moon can’t hurt anyone anymore. Nevermind that Moon needs him more than anyone at that point in time.

That’s how the negative feedback loop started. The Vanny Virus made them hate each other, and slowly but surely enlarged the rift between them.

And things escalate the longer the DA goes unchecked.

Sun is terrified for his counterpart, but also for himself. The virus takes advantage of that by giving him this holier-than-thou complex that makes him feel absolutely sure things are better this way, he knows best, Trust No One, they could get scrapped after all! He’s protecting them. He’ll do anything to keep them safe.

Moon is further pressed upon by the virus, unmitigated by Sun’s former assurances and comforting presence as he recedes, ravaged by the virus and eventually becoming the monster the kids (and now Sun ffs) believes him to be. He’s so cripplingly lonely and antsy locked inside their mind. He yearns to be free, he’s angry he’s being pointedly ignored, and come Ruin he’s determined to show Sun how alone and isolated he’s felt for months (maybe longer!!!!)

I have Thoughts about Ruin’s portrayal of Eclipse, but it’s clear that they are brand spanking new to the DA’s shared body and mind, so they get a separate post,,

So I'm rewatching PJO episode 6 in preparation for tomorrow (so excited!!!) and here's some thoughts~

1) I watched the Iris message with Luke like a million times and it is SO unnerving to see what a master manipulator he is. He's the cool older friend everyone wants to be seen bumping fists with - and he's giving them so much caring attention. All while subtly deflecting the conversation to pushing the conclusions HE wants Percy and Annabeth to arrive at. For the first time, I was reminded how scary this thing with Luke was, and once again, gave me the same feeling I'd had when I first read the books :')

2) Social commentary in the Lotus Casino like pls????? Rick NEVER fails to deliver on the best messages. Drugs injected into the air of one of the biggest gambling businesses in the world? Grover literally getting "lost in time" in the VR headset? Hermes lamenting about parenting? I love it.

3) Percabeth🥹🥹🥹🥹 "You were like two seconds ahead of me" SO PERCY. I was wheezing. Percy FINALLY opening up to Annabeth about the dreams had me sighing in relief. And the way the two of them navigated Hermes and the Lotus Casino together had me sobbing fr. MY BABIESSSS

4) PERCY DRIVING IS SO ME PLS. "Try aiming for the middle!" Like same bro been there😭 Waiting for a full minute after the guy cuts him off and then angrily honking ME. ME ME ME. I detest driving and I mean. Oh, and the best part - Annabeth staring proudly at Percy as he goes up that ramp, and Percy happily looking into her eyes AND THEN CRASHING INTO THE WALL I WAS BESIDE MYSELF I did not know this was something I needed. And... of course... WISE GIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRLLLLLL

5) When Annabeth said "it's easy to forget what's important when you're alone" it reminded me so bitterly of Luke. For this kind of lone forgetting is exactly what Kronos is betting on when he singles Percy out as his backup or whatever. It's scary how blurred the line between Luke and Percy's possible destinies is. And branching from the same dialogue, Grover's reaction after he realises he forgot quite a bit was heartbreaking. It kind of reminded me of the scene from Chalice of the Gods (spoilers, yall!) when Grover's sad Percy and Annabeth will be leaving. Hit too close to home :')

6) The Nereid was so mindnumbingly beautiful??? Also, they're making Percy's colour palette green and gold instead of blues, and while that's going to take a while to get used to, they're doing an aesthetically marvellous job!

7) But... there was no zebra :(

Anyway now I'm SO excited for tomorrow's episode I cannot WAIT. I cant wait to see the Cerberus, the Underworld, and Hades and Persephone (the gods all look so amazing so far this is going to be SO good) - and I can't wait to see Sally again!!! Her figure in the teaser seemed so cool. Literally counting down the hours😭

But I love Wyll’s story, just not his character direction, if that makes sense? (I’m still setting up to romance him tho) he had SUCH good setup for being a really nuanced character among the cast that we have and I think that’s partly due to all of the content he got cut from his story

Can you imagine how much people would crawl over Wyll if he was mother gothel’d? If he totally leaned into Mizora after ten years of isolation? ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING SCORNED BY HIS FATHER?? Bro was 17(?) and impressionable as fuck after a traumatic experience

Also I understand Wyll’s like “my dad had every right to exile me! Mizora covered her tracks!” But you can understand why someone hurt you and be pissed off and doesn’t mean that you have no right to be upset. I’D be upset if my parent left me (a literal child in this situation) in charge of protecting a whole city, then shunned me after I made the only decision that would make sure I could fulfill my city and make them proud! Wyll’s dad literally turned his back on his own son just like that, little to no questions asked, and Wyll has no?? Resentment? AT ALL?? HUH

(Imagine, pray tell, Mizora telling a young, impressionable Wyll that his father must have never truly loved him if he was willing to get rid of him so easily? Wyll hoping that his father would one day forgive him only to lose hope and return to Mizora once more??? You’re telling me that wouldn’t make the lads and ladies swoon?! Especially after learning that Wyll was a total daddy’s boy??)

And the TAV/PC had to go through the slow burn of proving to Wyll that she’s the bitch she is and is only using him? Or push him further into his mindset that Mizora cares for him, even if she hurts him? And Mizora slowly growing more and more desperate to keep her claws in him if you start pulling him away? Until the final thing she does in act 3- it would be so much more powerful and less than a “GOTCHA!”

You don’t even have to make Wyll neutral or evil! He just thinks Mizora has his best interests at heart (when she obvi doesn’t to anyone but him, as if the case with abusive relationships) The first crack would obviously be Karlach, since even Wyll states that Mizora never sent him to hunt tiefling’s, and he literally would’ve killed Karlach if TAV/PC wasn’t there (or the tadpoles) and it would’ve been so heart breaking and interesting for him to be the goodest boy with such a bad person as his “bestie”, all because of the manipulation and abuse she puts him through to keep his expectations and even self esteem low, pushed further by turning him into a DEMON.

(Judging by his dialogue I genuinely wonder if Larian intended for Wyll to have an arc like this, because it would fit a lot better into the general theme of breaking abuse cycles that the game pushes so hard. Especially from the interaction you can have with him at the tiefling party when he *ahem* ISOLATES HIMSELF FROM OTHERS)

A change in how he reacts to his trauma and abuse would’ve set him more apart too, since pretty much everyone except for Shart and Lae’zel aren’t particularly big fans of their abusers (except Gale, but I wouldn’t say he totally embraced Mystra at the time we meet, and if you romance him he throws her to wall p fast). And his abuser isn’t religious at all, it’s more personal since Mizora is literally right in his ear, it’s much more personal ig?

It also would’ve really pushed his thematic parallel to Karlach who H A T ES the devil who forced her into servitude. Can u imagine if she met Wyll, and he’s like “yeah Mizora’s the ONLY ONE looking out for me! ☝️She helps me protect the sword coast! She’s my HOMIE!” She would be so angry and sad for him, because his desperation for connection drove him to connect with a BITCH of a devil

Mizora is just the cookie-cutter narcissist abuser, she isolates her victim and makes (Wyll) rely on only her. It’s honestly more confusing that Wyll isn’t more with her, that he rejects her so vehemently after a decade with essentially only her at his side. I legit don’t understand why Wyll and Mizora weren’t dialed up to 10+ like all the other companions and their abusers are

Anyway these are my sad, slightly disappointed thoughts on Wyll, I just wish he had a lot more content in general but also his own personal journey throughout the game, but maybe it will change when I romance him

I have to pause my playthrough and scream about the options I think the game is suggesting might be possible for endgame here. Cutting for major, major Act 3 spoilers.

When I got to the Raphael conversation in the brothel, I really thought the game was only giving you two choices here. Sign the contract and turn over the crown, or side with the illithid and have to resist the tadpole/let Orpheus remain imprisoned forever. Both terrible choices, but in this grimdark real-life world and the state of current media within it, I can see how they'd go that route. Fine, I like Raphael better than the Emperor anyway, and it's better than signing away my soul, I guess.

But then Karlach offers you a way to break that contract - to go into the House of Hope and destroy the contract within Raphael's house. The game's opened a door for me to free myself of the contract, keep the hammer, free Orpheus, and still not be forced to give the crown to Raphael (or Gale, geez louise have you learned NOTHING, stop ASKING). I truly can't believe this is a route they're allowing you to take, this thin little strand of hope that might get you out of the hellscape you're stuck in (metaphorically and literally) and not bind you to despair in at least some facet.

I'm so, so, so interested to see if this will allow those who want to keep the parasites (Astarion) safely longterm. My Tav wants it out yesterday, but it has such a meaningful and tangible benefit to Astarion! I hate the idea that doing this will force him to be restricted to the night again; the idea that he might not be able to enjoy the sunlight like he does after the first romance scene just kills me. Just last night I had the event where the vamp family attacks during the long rest, and saints alive, I tell you I've been thinking about his conversation afterwards all darn day. Every interaction I had with a student this morning in lab, I had his voice playing on loop in the background talking about the year he spent starving in the cell, the months wishing he was dead and clawing at the door.

I played through pretty much every iteration of that conversation you can have, and it's utterly FASCINATING to me how different his reads are for the same lines given a slightly different setup. You can only get the dialogue option where he tells you about the year in solitary if you choose to "say nothing" to his lie to the family; if you persuade him or deceive them, that choice isn't even available to ask. And the choices which ARE available after persuade/deceive all end up with him kind of cackling about the idea of taking the ritual from Cazador, stealing his life's work; it's so gleeful and angry! And then if you take the year-in-solitary option, the read of that same line afterwards is AGONIZING, raw and desperate and furious and utterly despairing, and I can't believe the range and motion capture they've captured with him here. I don't intend to allow him to sacrifice his family (they're too real and sad and desperate!), but I confess I'm seriously concerned about the implications for the romance/his vampiric nature long-term if the main plot requires disabling or removing the parasites. It would be very very sad for Tavish and me both if we save the world but he has to go back to living only at night because I didn't let him ascend.

I'm just so excited about this game! This plot! I can't believe they give you a way out of the contract! I can't believe you might get to eat AND HAVE the cake! Maybe, maybe this will be the case for Astarion too? Maybe? Could Larian be that kind in more than one plotline?

I cannot WAIT to find out!!

the entire cast, including you, has finally finished filming your biggest project, a horror movie. this was your biggest project yet - grueling and long, long hours of filming, lots of lines and dialogue and several hours in the waiting room. it was stressful, that's for sure.

"good job everyone!" the director and the other staff applauded. you and your castmates gave your thanks and walked off the set, while you reach for your phone, texting your friends.

"everyone, the movie is done." you sent the message.

soon enough, the group chat was filled with typing and message bubbles. you smile as you read through their messages. heeseung was congratulating you, sunoo was excited for the movie's release, even going as far as asking you when the exact date it would be released, to you replying with a "i literally just finished filming it a minute ago" followed by him sending a sad emoji.

through the sea of messages, one particular message caught your attention. it was from park jongseong, although everyone calls him jay.

"wanna watch his movie at my place?" the message says.

in an instant, the group chat was flooded with messages. sunghoon replied with a "hell yeah!", sunoo being overly-excited, jake promising he'll bring the popcorn and jungwon worrying if his parents would allow him to come over to jay's place.

and jay was excited, to watch the movie and to see you.

"i'm here." heeseung message reads.

you step out of your house and you try to get into heeseung's car as fast as possible. you were a rising actor after all - the last thing you needed was to be surrounded by fans and paparazzi.

"all good?" heeseung takes a glance at you, and you reply with a "all good." he puts the car in drive and starts driving towards jay's place.

in the car consists of the following; heeseung as the driver, you in the shotgun seat, jungwon behind heeseung, sunoo in the middle back seat and ni-ki behind you.

"can you pass me the aux cord?" you figured that playing some music would make the ride to jay's place less boring. you scroll through your playlist and press on the song called "movie star".

the song starts, and all of you start bopping your head to the song since it was pretty catchy afterall.

"he's a movie movie star, everything with you is a dream right now, he wants it, he wants it"

"i mean, we got a literal movie star here." heeseung blurts out loud and you smile sheepishly.

"yeah, yeah."

sunoo suddenly cheers, "congratulations to our movie star, whose horror move blew up!"

and now, everyone in the car is hyping you up which results in you rolling your eyes. although you didn't want to admit it, you were flustered at how supportive your friends were.

you knock on jay's door. it takes a few minutes before he opens it - you all greet him and he greets you back with a smile. "come on in."

jake and sunghoon were already on the couch, preparing the popcorn jake promised to bring. you supposed that sunghoon was the one who brought the drinks.

the five of you take your shoes off and walk towards the living room. jake and sunghoon greet you warmly and you sit down on the couch.

"so, are you going to say anything to him?" heeseung whispers to jay, who has been staring and ogling at you ever since you stepped into his home.

"i don't know. he's too pretty, man." jay whispers back, resulting in heeseung scoffing. heeseung and jay watch as you chat with the group. too pretty. jay says to himself as he watches you smile and laugh to something jake said.

"now's your only chance, jay. you've been stalling for so long. it's about damn time you tell him how you feel."

"i know, i know."

jay likes you, a lot. he's down bad for you, he could say.

jay never thought he'd fall for someone like you, a guy, even. but he couldn't help it. he remembered the first time he met you. the way you smiled at him, the way you were so handsome for him. that day changed him. something tugged at his heartstrings that day.

"i'm telling him." jay whispers to heeseung, turning to face the latter.

"that's my guy, good luck." heeseung gives him a pat on the back and walks towards the couch.

jay stares at you for one last time, before walking to sit on the couch.

"we're all gathered here and we know why." jake starts, and you can help but laugh - he looks like he's hosting some type of event.

"we're here to watch a movie. a movie starring none other than.." jake points at you, and you just wave back.

"that's right. and with that, cheers!"

it's funny, since the cans were cans of soda and not beer. you and the others play along anyway, and you press your cans together. jake turns on the tv, dims the lights, and starts the movie.

everyone is silent and on the edge of their seats. the movie has reached its climax. the characters (including you) are currently escaping from the antagonist.

the characters have already arrived at the main location, which was a building that was rumored to be occupied by a serial killer, the main antagonist. the characters finally found the killer, although since they were the main antagonist, after all, they did not hesitate to attack.

jay was switching between watching the movie and staring at you. he kinda cared less about the movie and cared more about you - so much that sunoo had to remind him now and then to focus on the movie.

"no!" a scream made by sunghoon made jay focus on the movie.

a major character was captured and killed by the antagonist. this resulted in the other boys to let out simultaneous "no!"s.

the movie goes on, and more characters get killed. at this point, only three characters were left and that included you.

the entire room was filled with silence once again as the boys were nervous, nervous to know who'll make it in the end.

the three characters on screen are currently running towards the exit. as cliche as it sounds, one character trips, and unfortunately gets killed. the two remaining characters continue running.

"i wonder who makes it out alive, i feel like both of them will make it." ni-ki remarks, to which the others silently agree.

the antagonist surprises both characters. the other character who isn't you starts a one-on-one fight with the antagonist.

currently, everyone was cheering for the major character.

the major character manages to defeat the antagonist. everyone cheered. sadly, the major character was heavily injured - everyone gasped in shock.

"does that mean..." jake trails off and just decided to watch until the end.

the final character left, which was played by you, escaped and the movie ends.

the entire room was dead silent for the nth time until jay spoke.

"you're the one who made it?!" jay almost yells and the other boys turned to look at you, who had a smug grin on your face.

"guess i did."

they were all of shocked and frustrated. jake said that this specific character should've made it since they were so smart and good. the others just sat there in plain shock.

while the rest were still talking about the movie, jay tapped you on the shoulder. "i want to talk to you. follow me."

heeseung notices this - he gives jay a thumbs up and mouths him a "good luck" as the two of you walk into his room.

jay closes the door and you sit down on his bed. jay was obviously nervous, he couldn't stop fidgeting. he clears his throat and stands in front of you.

"uh, i just want to say that... your movie was good. and, your acting is amazing." jay refused to make direct eye contact with you. his cheeks had a red tint to them.

"thanks, you think i looked good?" you teased jay. that just made him more nervous, his red cheeks deepening in color. you laughed. jay was down bad.

"i know you like me, idiot." you watch as jay makes an expression that's a mix between relief, shock and shyness. you laugh and fall back onto jay's bed.

"c'mon, join me."

swiftly, you give jay a kiss on the lips. the guy was obviously taken aback. his eyes widened, his heartbeat was faster than ever and he feels like he was floating on air.

you pull back and giggle while jay just lies there in disbelief. jay was so flustered you found it adorable. sitting up, you look at jay one last time before leaving the room. jay was still lying down on the bed.

the moment you closed the door, jay screamed into his pillow while he kicks his legs on the bed. he lies facing the ceiling while placing his hand on his forehead, his breathing filling the room.

"holy shit. he kissed me."

jay smiles and bites his lip. he'll definitely remember that.

“Listen, Stella, we’ll keep this secret. The others would understand the gravity of the situation if they knew.” She had to talk herself down from her betrayed act, too. “I’ll just call him Sky. Just like I call you Stella. It will be fine. We’ll protect him.”

“Okay,” Stella sniffled. “Good. Because I wasn’t supposed to know either, you know. Sky told me, I think... I think because that way Brandon wouldn’t have to lie to me.”

“See? Sky trusts you and clearly cares about you as a friend.”

Her own heart settled a little. Maybe even without Stella’s mistake, at some point Sky would have decided to reveal his secret to her as well.

“It hasn’t done him much good.”

“Nonsense. He met me, didn’t he?”

The words slipped out almost instinctively – to boost Stella’s morale but even so, they didn’t ring as fake as she’d feared. It felt right. It felt right that she’d met him and vice versa.

Stella almost choked on the laugh she barked out. “Do I have to use up less confidence so there’s some of it left for you or will you keep this up on your own?”

“I can’t promise you success but I’ll try.”

Distance never worked for them. The separate bedrooms did nothing to keep temptation at bay when they sat on their thrones next to each other all day and it was perfectly natural–expected even–for a king to come and go from his queen's chambers as he pleased. They only had anger to shield themselves behind and now they're here – fucking like they want the other dead, for the crime of making them dependent.

Her orgasm is a given, has been for years, and she can't do anything to stop him from wringing it out of her. Her body cooperates with him rather than with her, especially now that they've been fighting for weeks. Her flesh is begging for his touch, has been since they'd left each other high-strung and dissatisfied. She hadn't been sure which would be the bigger defeat – to try to pleasure herself and face the inevitability that it will feel nothing like she wants it to or to not try at all and silently admit any relief for her lay in his arms.

If she knew when and how they bound themselves together, she could pick the pattern and undo it, protect them both from this burning agony, this need to be so close even when they're mutually destructive.

He is hurting her. She has to be hurting him. If he lets her go, she will stop breathing. And it won't matter one bit compared to the emptiness she'd feel if he didn't fuck her over that precipice of resistance lodged into her brain.

His fingers close around her throat and she's coming. There's no doubt about it, no choice afforded to her, no defense against it.

Cutting her brakes had been too banal to be him. It had also been too flawlessly executed to be anyone else.

Valtor grinned, then shrugged carelessly. "Like I said, there's a long list of parties that would have motives to seek payback."

"I wouldn't know," Faragonda returned his smugness. She brought Griffin's hand up to her chest, holding it directly above her heart. "She's my wife and I would never do anything to hurt her. I promised that I will love her in good and in bad, and whatever she does, won't change that."

Griffin's throat closed. Her fingers went limp between Faragonda's, her heart struggling to beat in halves, her lungs running on empty.

Valtor caught her eye, "Well, that's a relief."

His tongue shaped every word carefully – a blade in her vulnerable flesh. If she could look away, down to her dress, it would be running red with her blood.

okay so i finished it and it was fun to read overall but i felt like past episode 3 was very rushed and condensed (makes sense since episode 3 finished past the half-way point of the book) and it stopped being as well written (barely any internal dialogue and descriptors), and some moments were mischaracterised heavily (including a lot of the willex) and juke just didn't seem developed at all. also i wish reggie had gotten more pov chapters since he's, y'know, a main character. i'm pretty sure he got, like, 2 :( also a lot of the music scenes lacked emotion but since this is an adaptation of something with music without music i'll let it slide. it was still nice to read either way.

Little confession, this is one of my favourite season 1 episodes. It’s up there with Sick Mind. There’s going to be a point where I write down a scene deconstruction that carries on across multiple points, so I highly recommend reading this!! 05:29 - I feel conflicted. On one hand Optimus talks. On the other he used a metaphor that is not effective. ‘The past always catches up with the present’ is talking about decisions (eg actions or words). + This is Optimus’s first line of Dialogue since Operation : Breakdown.

06:24 - This is what Starscream said to Soundwave.

07:02 - LOOK AT HIM. HOW DOES HE HIDE! ANSWER MEEEE!

07:05 - I just realised.. this is the first time we’ll be seeing Airachnid interact with Optimus and Bee (although he shows up in Predatory, she runs away rather than attempting any confrontation.)

07:21 - 1. The way he says 'wait' is such a fatherly pronunciation. 2. O0O she doesn’t listen. 3. She does a backflip. (IYKYK)

07:44 - *sigh* and here we have Arcee being an idiot. Going against Optimus’s orders, fighting Airachnid and doing a scrap job at it.

08:01 - *falls over* *dies* Optimusssssss yessss

08:05 - unlike Arcee, Airachnid listens to Optimus.

08:13 - this is a parallel to Operation : Breakdown. In Operation : Breakdown, Bulkhead took on Breakdown alone. Optimus hadn’t given instructions, so the decision was made by Bulkhead’s judgement. It was not a good call and Bulkhead got hurt, so Optimus had phrased it ‘Engaging the enemy on your own was foolish, Bulkhead’. In this episode Optimus gave instructions but Arcee didn’t listen. She didn’t get hurt, but the risk had no reward. Airachnid escaped regardless. Because she wasn’t hurt and technically did delay Airachnid, Optimus wouldn’t have been as harsh but is obviously still upset.

08:29 - I’m so done with Airachnid and Arcee’s rivalry. I will forever repeat this. They have one of the worst rivalries in the show. Arcee has a reason to be mad at Airachnid, but Airachnid has no reason to be mad at Arcee. They don’t have respect for each other and they can’t manage to put aside their differences for anything.

09:39 - ‘When you have to sit at the kids table, but you realise that the 12 year-old is more mature than you’

09:51 - there’s something so perfect about this conversation and Arcee’s beliefs specifically.

13:15 - you can see Arcee’s conflicting emotions. She hates Airachnid, but she also hates Starscream. Then there’s that little bit of delight in Starscream’s misery (and a part of me wants to say feminism)

16:32 - *clears throat* Arcee’s an idiot. She’s fighting in revenge and anger. Her judgement’s clouded already. Decepticons get their advantages by getting into the heads of autobots. They’re more likely to win the more clouded and chaotic their opponent’s mind is.

16:35 - and now we have the opposite side of the coin.

16:43 - Airachnid’s trying to get into Bee’s head. Exactly what Starscream was doing. If she gets into his head, Bee’s hiding and fighting will be worse. Once he gets hit the autobots will loose. Airachnid cannot win in combat against Bumblebee. They both know that. What she also knows is that, unlike with all her fights with Arcee, Bee isn’t fighting for a personal gain, he’s fighting for a cause. If he was fighting with his emotions, he’d be aiming for her to loose, but because he’s fighting for a cause his goal is to win. (It’s trying to kill someone vs trying to stay safe. 17:17 - As much as her confidence is expected, if she didn’t believe she had gotten into his head, I bet she would’ve been more cautious to provoke Bee. Thinking that she is in his head is why she’s continuing to taunt him.

17:40 - in actuality she didn’t get into his head. Rather she got into her own. She became sloppy and less aware of her surroundings.

17:54 - Bee was still fighting for a cause, rather than with his emotions. By Bee not being effected by decepticon mindgames, Airachnid fell victim to her own tactics and lost.

18:05 - She had no advantage physically, mentally, nor emotionally. Bee had the complete upper hand.

18:06 - Now we have the opposite. Arcee’s fighting with her emotions while Starscream’s fighting to win.

18:12 - Starscream’s got nothing to lose, while Arcee was acting out of rage.

19:11 - Now Arcee absolutely could win and that we be thanks to fighting with her emotions. I agree 100% by that idea except-

19:13 - for the fact that her emotions got in the way once again.

19:14 - Bee, my sweet baby child, is another variable in Arcee’s emotional charge. Arcee fought for Cliff, fell for Cliff, and was about to win for Cliff,

19:17 - but couldn’t bring herself to kill for Cliff. When it was just Starscream’s words and her unbridled rage, Starscream was Cliff’s murderer. When it was just her and the bot that took away Cliff, she would’ve 100% killed him. When she realised it was now her, Starscream, and Bumblebee, another bot that lost someone close, but would never deem that enough to snuff out their spark. That is when she couldn’t kill for Cliff.

19:27 - this is about to give you guys whiplash because of the stuff above but… There’s something so beautiful and smooth about that slide.

That was Partners.

Honestly I like this episode. It brings out the capabilities of Starscream and Bee, as well as bringing out the worst of Arcee and Airachnid in a much better fashion than before. It shows us what happens when a character has the upper hand in all aspects of a fight vs when the do not. Fighting to win vs fighting to make the other lose.

It’s one of the episodes I think best displays just how bad (as in not well put together) Airachnid and Arcee’s rivalry is, while also putting in a bit more perspective to Airachnid’s side of it. She fights Arcee because she knows she can win. Anyone else and she’s gonna lose. Arcee’s always in over her head and let’s her emotions get in the way.

The episode is a bit of a roller coaster for Starscream, but in the end the conclusion is ‘Starscream’s a manipulator and a really good one too.’ Not because he got into Arcee’s head, but because he managed to convince Optimus that there was hope for him.

Then there’s Bumblebee. Ah~ Sweet little Bumblebee. A bot of few beeps because he gave him nothing to say. He carried his team during the episode. Being the only one to not get hit by the immobiliser, the one that managed to fool Airachnid leading her to turn his back on him, which lead to her defeat and snap Arcee out of his murder daze in time to not kill Starscream (regardless of if he deserved it or not) and to conclude the episode there was not a word or gesture of gratitude from anyone.. really makes your blood doesn’t it?. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t one of the eps that fuels my angstier fics.

Generally though, I like this episode.

erm, a compiled list of all the notes I have on paper and all the notes in my brain for an upcoming..project.

(( TECHNICALLY THIS ENTIRE POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE DRA DEATHS..BUT. I don’t specify anything ))

gameplay notes..but I can’t code :

from hours 8 AM to 11 PM no anomalies will or can occur. ( unless glitched )

12:00 PM exact is lunchtime and is the only time when other students can appear in the library. Lunchtime can also have a triggered cut scene of either of the two ( image under writing but not here for sillies ) sitting with *.

Once the distraction meter ( during daytime only ) gets to middle point * will have the ability to ‘shoo’ or just get the distraction away. ( this will trigger the dialogue of “ get out, I’m studying. “ )

a distraction is a student outside of the library either trying to form a conversation with * , talking at her, or being ‘loud’. Certain students will not do normal actions, but have special dialogue instead.

if the distraction meter fills all the way up, * will get up and yell at the distraction / student. This will cause a game over.

during 12 AM to 8 AM anomalies will occur.

what are anomalies? :

Short : corpses

Long : Manifestations of *’s PTSD, possibly ghosts?..but that’s unlikely. They’re also kind of like hallucinations however *SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER*

#2, (( she really only hangs from the ceiling and is..almost non lethal. She cries out for help a lot, for someone to save her, for her brother…I’ll have to tell him sometime, not now though. Maybe it’s her ghostly wails or whatever that kills me..

#3,(( I..don’t remember what happened to her but I don’t really want to, she’s only ever in the hallways..running. I can hear her. Is it the sound? Maybe.. Maybe it’s the ringing in my ears.

#4 (( you were a bitch. However..I..don’t think you deserved that. She sits next to me a lot. I can smell the blood and the metal. She wouldn’t be dangerous if she didn’t kill with her touch, however, unfortunately she does.

#5 (( He’s on the walls, literally. and of course the wood is rotting. His blood always finds its way to me somehow, it works like acid once it hits me.

#6 (( This one is barely threatening, I think he’s just upset. He doesn’t try to hurt me , I know that, but whenever he gets close to me it hurts. It’s like I’m being repeatedly stabbed in the neck.

#7 (( I can hear her screams, constantly. I can hear the electric shocks. She reaches out her hand and then it’s just.. pain. The shocks..she’s sharing them. like the other one..she’s not trying to hurt me actively. none of them are, really.

#8 (( Idiot.. that doesn’t feel right to say though. You were stupid, but in that trial..you were just so— … She doesn’t seem sad unlike the others, she sits next to me too..trying to make me laugh. But when I look at her..when I finally see her face again..it’s over.

#9 (( You were also stupid. I knew what you were hiding, but outing you wouldn’t make me feel better. You were..kind of gross, but trying to fit in wasn’t easy..was it? I’m sorry you went out that way. Sometimes him and * are together, I can’t look at them either..despite how happy it appears they are together. #10 (( The blood from her mouth and her eyes gets on me even though shes far away, it seeps into my skin, her words seep into my brain..my own blood..everything. I’m sorry *. Sometimes she stands over me. Watching my every move..then the blood really hurts.

hehehehe well it works out cus I wanted to do Zev c: I did my best with Wen, but I think it's a little fuzzy when she's mine.

Zevran:

First impression: Ohhhh this is the elf guy! The one everyone is always talking about! ...wait, hold up, I think I just killed him 😬 am I supposed to be able to do that???

Impression now: My fucked up assassin beloved. I have tried to romance others but I was always thinkin bout you. Also:

Favorite moment: "You don't want the earring, you don't get the earring." Lol. But actually, I think the moment during the confrontation with Taliesen where he chooses to defend the Warden is extremely well-written. There is such a genuine regret in his voice when he accepts that telling Taliesen no means that he will have to kill him, and it makes me wonder so much about what the two of them were like before.

Idea for a story: I have literally two whole pages in my fic idea book for Zev haha. But two favorites I haven't started yet are one where Wen is passing judgment as the Arlessa and he is just hanging out behind her throne (ostensibly as a bodyguard) making snarky remarks between hearings so she doesn't snap. Also, a time loop fic, but the concept is still vague (shhh don't look at me holding onto my "one half of the pair watches the other one die a bunch" trope again)

Unpopular opinion: this is technically an opinion on the fandom, and I think others have said it better, but the way people make Zev hypersexual all the time/the way people write and draw him a sex object makes me really uncomfortable. There is an element of the "sexy Latin lover" stereotype in his writing that I...don't think a large section of the fandom is really interested in unpacking or understanding. I think his relationship with sex is actually really fascinating and sad (I wrote my Salshira before I knew much about Zev, but the two of them have a lot in common with the way they feel about/act toward intimacy despite having very different backgrounds) but I don't think it's as clear-cut as "Zevran has a very high libido and constantly wants sex/wants to seduce people." (I wrote like....two more paragraphs of this but I will leave it there I think haha. I don't want to go too hard too early here and I have so many thoughts.)

Favorite relationship: Alistair? It's hard to choose because I think Zev has really interesting dialogue with most of them, but I especially enjoy the dynamic between Zev and Alistair. They have such drastically different views of the world and I think (biased because I always romance him but) Alistair's dialogue with him if the Warden is romancing Zev says a lot about both of them. I also enjoy Leliana and Zev (I like that she is just. not really here for his nonsense) but he and Alistair make me laugh more c:

Favorite headcanon: I feel like they all just flew out of my head. Oops. I do like the headcanon that Zev gives at least some of the others tattoos/he did some of his own tattoos. I think it could be a really interesting thing about reclaiming bodily autonomy for Zev to tattoo himself. Also that he's a bottle blond (but I'm weak for fanart of Zev w dark hair).

Arianwen:

First impression: I first knew who she was going to be when I played through the very beginning of the origin. She was covered in that poor girl's blood and I thought "oh I would snap. All these assholes are dead" and the rest is history!

Impression now: My sweet, murderous baby girl. She is allowed to kill whomever she wants, as a treat.

Favorite moment: Hmm I haven't posted it, but there's a moment when she wakes up with Zevran for the first time (well into their relationship) and she realizes that she...actually wants to live. That she likes being alive, and that she likes that he's a part of her life, and that she doesn't want to have already died anymore. And I think it's really lovely (especially when she continues to be like "But We Don't Have Time to Unpack All of That" for several months)

Idea for a story: Again, so many lol. My favorite unwritten one is her battle with Loghain, because I think choosing to fight him is a turning point for her.

Unpopular opinion: Uhhhhh.....I think by virtue of her being mine, all of my Wen opinions are popular opinions. I guess: it's fucked up that she can't write to her family and tell them she didn't die at Ostagar, because I think at minimum she would have told Shianni. Alas, I also like the idea of them holding a funeral for her, so it will just have to remain fucked up.

Favorite relationship: Torn bw her and Ali and her and Morrigan. Haven't shared any of the latter, but I like their "we are going to sit in complete silence and that is fine with both of us" early-game vibes. Wen misses Morrigan a lot when she takes off, and I think the intensity of the loss took her by surprise.

Favorite headcanon: It's all headcanon c: But I think she visits Soris a lot after he leaves the alienage and she is just the Cool Aunt to his many children. It's one of the few places she is only herself, not the Hero of Ferelden or the Arlessa or anything else. She teaches them how to pick locks and fight, of course, to Soris's chagrin (though he comes to admit it's practical in time)

Revka:

First impression: Oooh pretty! 👀

Impression now: I am holding her gently in my hands, absolute wife material, nobody talk to me

Favorite moment: Her tearing through the Circle Tower to find Ceral is *chef's kiss* one of my favorite tropes! I love how much she loves him.

Idea for a story: Wen and Rev begrudgingly trading off Warden-Commander duties. I think it would be funny and they could always try to bribe each other to get out of things, which offers an absolute wealth of story opportunities.

Unpopular opinion: hmmmm I feel like this doesn't apply?

Favorite relationship: I haven't seen much of her dynamic with the rest of the party, but I like the dynamic you've built between her and Ceral (and of course Wen and Revka's friends to lovers pining thing in our throuple au, but it felt like cheating to say so first c:)

Favorite headcanon: Secret bookshelf room with all her smut in Vigil's Keep. Secret smut library with nice comfy couch and nice convenient fireplace.

okay headcannon time.

I think they met while Gehrman was still new at his job. Laurence snuck into Pthumaru to get samples or something and got lost and Gehrman had to go get him.

Cus of this one-on-one time Laurence has always kinda respected Gehrman and his work as a hunter (like the other scholars and Willem are aware of how important the hunters are but they don't really... like them... cus of classism). Laurence appreciates the violence.

That's not to say Laurence doesn't view Gehrman as how useful he is- just with a neat fella also attached.

This kinda symbiotic relationship was heightened by the fact that Laurence is the only real physician at Byrgenwerth to me. So every time Gehrman gets hurt he has to go to him for help.

Cus the rest of Byrgenwerth kinda disrespects the hunters, that was why it was so easy for Laurence to sweep them up and take them with him post Fishing Hamlet and Rom Ascension. That said, I do think Gehrman and the other hunters left after Laurence of their own volition (though Gehrman was defiantly heavily swayed to go with him).

Speaking of the Hamlet they absolutely kissed over Kos' corpse and that's why they're all cursed now.

They lived together in that little Byrgenwerth-pocket under Oedon Chapel while setting up the Healing Church and the Workshop and such.

Gehrman's experience with their relationship is slowly watching someone he loves become more are more dangerous and megalomaniacal. He knows it's defiantly bad but also... kinda hot tho fr. This is compounded but the idea that Gehrman 100% believes in a lot of the Healing Church's more religious aspects. What if you were dating Jesus but were also Catholic. It's cus of this that Gehrman sticks around in the dream, it's literally not a possibility to him that Laurence could be wrong about something.

That said I don't think Gehrman took a lot of the Church's more... horrific acts lying down. He's not a great guy either but he's got a strong moral compass and I defiantly think it took some smooth talking to prevent him from going to Cainhurst and beating Logarius to death. Laurence is just very good at convincing him they're in the right (until it comes to hurting Gehrman specifically, that is).

That said, I think Laurence does care about Gehrman quite a lot. If we go off cut dialogue it seems like he's willing to halt the plans to contact Flora for his safety. That'd mean genociding Cainhurst and burning down half the city for no reason. Laurence doesn't strike me as the type of guy to just throw out impactful plays like that for no reason. And if you wanna get really into my gay little theories, Laurence's relationship with Gehrman is the most human thing about him. It represents his humanity after his death and is his drive to keep going once he starts losing it. So I think it's apt that Gehrman's the guy he's willing to waste so many lives to protect.

Gehrman is violent as a job but generally dislikes bloodshed if it doesn't have a purpose. Laurence is willing to bullshit purposes for the sake of bloodshed. They get along great.

Okay, so we can infer from Viola's brooch that hunters give their partners bloodgem-jewellery as some sort of romantic gesture. The... the Vicar pendant is a bloodgem...

Equally heart-wrenching to me is the idea that Gehrman did leave a physical body behind after he got moon'd. Laurence tried his best to look after it but that got too hard for him eventually. The sick fic that never ends and never gets better!!!! (Lozza also starts wearing Gehrman's scarf post-divorce).

Their relationship is, overall, complicated. Especially near the tail-end, they fought a lot over what was best for the city and the fact that Gehrman wasn't leaving the workshop out of being too sad.

That said I feel like if you kill god with a person and they come to represent the things about you that tie you to humanity, you gotta love 'em.

Gehrman in the events of the game would do literally anything to see the awful little Vicar again believe me. Flora shapeshifts into him sometimes to try and cheer the guy up but it really doesn't work.
