Warning: Long post?
Jason did not expect his ghost form to feel…like this.
(Oh, dealing with his body randomly phasing through the ground and smacking his face onto hard concrete was not fun, but Jason dealt with that just like with every other hurdle in his life. By being more stubborn than the problem itself.)
It felt like something… settled into place. That was the best way he could describe it.
He felt as if spite and anger were finally not the only things keeping him awake and running.
He felt calm, almost. Stable, at least. Whatever pent up energy that was stuck in his chest cavity now flowed freely throughout his body, redistributed, instinctually easier to manage.
It's almost like he could breathe a little bit easier.
(After much… ranting that Jason decided to ignore for his own sanity, Danny said that his case ectoplasmic corruption was probably due to the fact that Death, as a concept, doesn’t let go of things easily, time shenanigans notwithstanding.)
(Becoming a half-ghost was seemingly the only working compromise.)
Tumblr media
Danny once told him that broad strokes of a ghost’s personality could be guessed by looking at their physical appearance.
Despite the cool powers, this was a slight downside. Jason dealing with the filth of the Earth meant that being to hide his emotions and who he is was kind of important. Life saving, even.
He realized later on that his ghost form was way too easy to read.
He looked at his arms covered in bandages, and got reminded of the amount of times he had to patch himself up in the last month.
His jacket was ripped in place he knew that would have been sewn together when he was a living breathing human (well, as much as he could be).
He always looked slightly on fire?
(Danny told him it's probably related to his... core?)
(He know he died in an explosion but really?)
And then, there was his… veil? Shroud? Cloak?
It looked really nice.
But on the other hand…
It drooped when he felt under the weather. It flicked and thrashed around when he’s either irritated or barely holding back his urge to headshot someone.
And—
(No Danny, my cloak was not fucking wagging when you brought me fresh ectoplasm last week, you’ll have to get your goddamn eyes checked—)
He'll deny it until the day he dies (a second time).
And then his cloak could sometimes just…grow bigger. He figured that it acted as an extension of his own body, and had a nice add-on of allowing him to sense things he couldn't see. Hell, he could even make a hand out of it (wacking Danny with it - gently - never gets old). Jason had to also admit it looked cool, with the wispy bits and with one of its sides becoming a bright yellow.
(It reminded him a bit of his time as Robin.)
Tumblr media
Being a ghost had a lotta perks.
Dealing with targets was so much easier when no one could see you. Inflitration was so much simpler when walls became optional. Cameras will glitch out when he's around, he left no traces visible to the naked eye and, combined with his training, to say that it was useful would be an understatement.
But, sometimes, he feels like he’s changing as well the more he transforms. Not drastically, but enough for him to look back and notice.
He usually was someone who prided on being efficient and straight to the point.
But now he’s starting to… have fun.
He started using his claws whenever he could. Don't het him wrong, he still uses his guns plenty, but there was just something deeply satisfying about vaulting over things, scaling a wall or crawling on the ceiling with bare hands.
(Punching people is still the most satisfying by far, though.)
That one time hunting down the Joker wannabes was fun too.
(Danny said he’d get along great with Skulker? Did Jason want to find out? No.)
Fading in and out of invisibility, he picked them off one by one, watching as panic and dread slowly but surely creeped up on the remaining ones.
(After all, he has no respect for those trying to emulate the dead clown.)
(Yeah, the Joker was dead.)
(Surprisingly, that has not been a good day.)
One of the favorite things he liked to do was rooftop parkour. The… bendability of gravity is… fun, not gonna lie.
(Not flying though. Jason is used to having feet in regular contact with solid ground, thank you very much. No offense, Danny.)
But he gets why ghosts love to fly. When he’s jumping from rooftop to rooftop in Gotham in the at night, watching the city light fly by, cloak spread behind him, it’s as if nothing else matters.
(No Joker, no petty criminals to beat up, no avoiding the Bats so they don’t find out about his existence—)
He can just enjoy, even just for a little bit.
(Somehow the Demon Brat and Orphan could sense him. Will keep and eyes on those two, and also the more reasons to avoid them.)
(The real problem was the new Bat in town. Bruce, what the fuck, another one? Again?)
(The yellow one, Signal. No time to check his profile yet, but probably a meta or something.)
(First night out and the guy almost managed to actually fucking see him —looked at him straight in the eyes and all, then did a double take. Jason never phased into the pavement so fast in his entire fucking life.)
(And so far no Bats on his cloak tails yet.)
(He did help the guy incognito, just a couple of times.)
(And he also did steal his escrima sticks for fun, and once the guy went out looking for them, he’d put them right back where they were.)
(Turns out, he discovered later, that being a little shit runs in the ghost community.)
(Sometimes he also wonders what happened to Danny before they met.)
(He wasn't a Gothamite, that was obvious. He doesn’t pry, but it doesn’t take a lot to piece two and two together.)
(He just wonders who he has to kill this time.)
Tumblr media
(Jason could not believe he forgot and underestimated just how fucking persistent every single one of the Bats could be. Of course it had to run in the family.)
He gazed down, thought the agony, at the gaping wound under his right armpit.
(The Bats have been chasing him relentlessly for a while now. He got more injuries than he can count, especially from Bruce.)
(They know. Oh, they know.)
(It didn’t go well.)
(He knows the others are there surrounding him to prevent him from escaping, he knows that Dick is right behind him, but at the moment he couldn’t care less.)
It has been a long time since the last time he got shot.
(It felt like someone set his right side on fire.)
What was flowing out in abundance was a neon, toxic green.
(The Pit Waters, ectoplasm, he didn’t even know that he could fucking bleed in ghost form—)
(Danny—)
He looked back up at Batman, holding a (frankly) ugly gun, white casing and highlights in the same shade of toxic green.
(A gun that Danny warned him about. And everything behind it.)
Jason felt something in him... snap.
(Why did it have to be you, Bruce.)
His mouth opened—
(waitsincewhenhecoulddothatthroughtthe mask—)
(Jason could see the billows of neon green smoke—)
(He couldn’t see Bruce’s expression.)
(Every. Single. Goddamn. Time.)
— and wailed.

NAME : katsuki bakugou , boku no hero academia
SONG : apple cider , beabadoobee
SUMMARY : y/n gets hit with a quirk, making their mostly stoic facade disappear, turning into a more clingy, more flirty in a way? wc : 1.8k
(y/ns quirk is practically earth-bending. its not really important tho so like dont worry)
(set around the time where they have dorms and hero license)
y/n smiled in the chair as they sat, patiently waiting as they tapped their feet on the floor and recovery girl looked around their figure, looking for any injuries.
"so, i don't see any injuries. i only see the personality change."
"they are okay though, right?"
bakugou asked, arms crossed as he leaned on the wall near the door of the nurse's office as he looked down to the ground, his eyes gazing up to the smiling y/n.
"yeah they are. i believe it's made them the opposite personality they are, simple thing really- it'll last for about a week. for now, i think it's best you act like everything's normal. say yes to whatever they say. i also don't believe they'll remember anything the next week-"
-
"katsuki!"
"yeah i know, idiot!"
bakugou yelled out, using his quirk to jump up into the air to avoid the villains running to tackle him, using his explosions on the villain coming his way. y/n stomped the ground as the ground made a crumbled path towards a group of villains, sending them into the air and todoroki froze them in air using his ice.
there was a villain hiding in the alleyway near the fight, watching his group being beaten by just three measly high schoolers. yeah they might be in the hero course but they were still teenagers!
"i think.. we're done.."
y/n breathed out, their hands resting on their hips as the two other guys went to stand with y/n, walking towards them.
"god, i did most of the work."
bakugou said, panting slowly as todoroki breathed out ice. y/n glanced around the area, seeing civilians taking photos of them on the sidelines of the streets.
"katsuki, your turn to take photos with civilians."
"hah? no way."
"me and shoto did it yesterday, your turn."
"argh, you're useless!"
bakugou yelled out, begrudgingly stomping his way to the civilians as they squealed, hitting each other and fixing themselves up in their phone cameras.
y/n watched as bakugou walked away, admiring him in a way. y/n's class saw them as the quiet, but powerful and strong person. y/n didn't mind it as todoroki was the same. but rather, y/n admired bakugou. even if they were friends and seemed to be considered 'close'. it's not like you can't admire your friends, right?
y/n's eyes glided back towards todoroki, but then suddenly a dash of colour came into their view, as they looked towards it and turns out, there was a villain aiming for bakugou, who didn't see, still walking towards the civilians as they didn't notice the villain either, too focused on bakugou.
without thinking, y/n's feet dashed towards bakugou, pushing him out of the way as the villain's hand latched onto their face, their eyes fluttering shut as y/n passed out on the ground.
bakugou stumbled forward, turning around and seeing y/n on the floor, their eyes closed and the villain standing over them. bakugou respected y/n in a way, they were strong, stronger than the whole class, even bakugou could admit. there was admiration that bakugou felt for y/n, he was also fearful of possible feelings that he felt for y/n, pushing them down.
"..who do you think you are, you villain?!"
bakugou yelled, his hands behind him as he launched himself towards the villain, his hands latching onto the villain's shoulder as bakugou sent him tumbling to the ground.
"what did you do to them, hah?"
todoroki ran to y/n, crouching down and checking their pulse.
"they're just passed out."
todoroki said to bakugou, who looked back at him and then bakugou looked back down to the villain on the floor, his knee digging into the villain's back.
"what's your quirk? and you better tell me straight or else."
-
y/n walked down the hall with bakugou by their side, y/n linking their arm as they held bakugou's arm who's hands were in his pockets.
"katsuki! are you hungry?"
"mhm yeah. do you want me to make you something?"
"oh yeah please!"
y/n became nicer, more clingy with everyone, but mostly bakugou. bakugou felt his chest warm up at the tone of voice y/n used to call his name, 'katsuki!' .
they made their way together to the kitchen, as bakugou made his way to the fridge and cabinets, taking some ingredients and setting them on the counter.
"do you want me to help, katsuki?"
"just sit there and look pretty."
bakugou said, setting down the egg carton on the counter, before walking over to y/n, picking them up by the waist, both hands firmly on the side of their waist as he lifted them up to sit on the counter next to the stove.
y/n payed no mind to bakugou's touch, smiling wide as they swung their feet, their feet not touching the ground.
a good thing about this quirk effect was how sweet y/n was. bakugou was used to the nonchalantly y/n, pretty y/n sitting there like no one was bothered by how pretty they were, even if they acted so stoic all the damn time.
another good thing was bakugou could make this into his advantage, try to make y/n feel giddy in a way. it's not like they’ll remember anything, right?
bakugou grabbed an egg out of it's place. grabbing four and cracking them into a bowl while separating the whites and the yolk.
"can i mix the yolk?"
y/n asked, twindling their fingers as they waited for bakugou's response as he looked sideways to look at them.
"yeah, here."
bakugou handed y/n the bowl of yolks while also handing them a pair of chopsticks, watching y/n mix the yolks while they stuck their tongue out a little in focus. bakugou forcing his eyes to look away to put rice into the rice cooker.
-
bakugou watched as y/n ate their omelette, eating his omelette calmly as y/n practically swallowed the whole meal in 3 bites. quickly finishing it as they waited for bakugou to finish his.
"what do you wanna do, pretty?"
bakugou mumbled, putting their dishes in the sink, thinking 'class rep is gonna do them anyway'. y/n heard his voice, smiling softly.
"i'm sleepy, can we have a sleepover in your dorm?"
bakugou nodded, bringing his hand towards y/n's as he clutched onto it, bringing y/n to the elevator.
-
the next day, it was a friday. class 1-a got excused from class early to rest. it was a friday anyway. nonetheless, the class cherished the rare wide smiles that y/n was giving them, doing whatever they could to make y/n smile bigger.
"guys! i say we have a movie night tonight!"
mina said, her hand in the air to direct the classes attention to her.
"what movie?"
"let's binge watch all the harry potter movies!"
"hell nah cuh"
-
eventually, the whole class agreed. mostly everyone set up the comfy area of blankets and pillows, making a little oval around the large couch that sat infront of the large flat screen tv that the dorms had supplied for the students.
bakugou only agreed to come to sit next to y/n, as close as he could, and no one could comment on it because y/n wanted to sit next to bakugou!
y/n sat in the floor, their back leaning on the couch as kirishima sat on the couch behind them, y/n between his legs. bakugou sat on their left, the closet people to him were kirishima and y/n. y/n’s legs were under a blanket to create warm underneath, bakugou also under the blanket close to y/n. y/n held onto bakugou’s hand, playing with his fingers as bakugou watched y/n’s hands work.
no one could see anyway, bakugou thinks a bird just got murdered, but he doesn’t know, nor care really.
y/n gingerly intertwines their fingers, rubbing their thumb along bakugou’s own. y/n places a leg between bakugou’s legs, getting impossibly close to him as bakugou lets it happen, getting closer to y/n aswell.
“what you doing, dumbass?”
bakugou whispered, not letting anyone else but y/n hear his voice, it was slightly raspy in a way, he had never talked in such a soft tone.
“jus’ wanna get close to you..”
y/n admitted, looking up into bakugou’s eyes. thank god the lights were off and the tv was emitting a small bit of light, bakugou’s face was burning, but maybe y/n could already tell by his sweaty palms. he’s had to wipe his hands on the blanket several times already.
y/n looked around to their classmates, leaning into bakugou’s ear as they placed a hand over their mouth to cover their voice. at the same time, bakugou placed his hand on y/n’s lower back, leaning his ear towards them.
“can i sit between your legs?”
y/n asked, leaning back out with a soft smile adoring their lips. bakugou couldn’t resist, not saying anything but just moving the blanket and tapping the space between his legs.
y/n smiled widely, quickly getting up a little bit and sitting down between bakugou’s legs. y/n leaned back on bakugou while he wrapped his arms around y/n, holding onto their waist and he liked the way it slightly squished under his rough hands. bakugou placed his head into the crook of their neck, snuggling his nose into the side of their neck as y/n giggled, telling bakugou ‘that tickles!’ .
bakugou rested his chin on y/n’s shoulder, getting comfortable as y/n rested their full body weight on bakugou.
“you’re lucky i like you.”
bakugou mumbled, it was nearly silent, but since it was right next to y/n’s ear, they heard all of it. y/n’s smile disappeared, their face being replaced with embarrassment and a burning hot face. y/n turned their head to the right, facing their head away as they were flustered.
"hah? are you embarrassed, pretty?"
bakugou let go of y/n's waist, rubbing at their hips as they placed their hands on bakugou's thighs, avoiding bakugou looking at them.
"do you not like me?"
y/n gasped, whipping their head around and hitting bakugou on the chest as he yelped slightly at the sudden action.
"of course i do. why do you think i hang out with you more than anyone else?"
y/n mumbled the last bit, looking back at the movie like they've been paying attention.
"you're gonna watch the movie now?"
"i've been watching the whole time, what do you mean?"
y/n quickly said, their hands crossing above their chest as bakugou leaned into them, his chest touching their back.
"you want me to stop?"
y/n didn't answer straight away, but eventually,
"no.."
bakugou heard the small mumble, as he hid a chuckle and a smirk by digging his face into their neck, which made y/n smile at the ticklish feeling, which made them laugh quietly, smacking bakugou softly to get him to stop.

Reaching into the Fire
Tag List: @issamomma @repostingmyfavs @chickennugnugnug
Warnings: Platonic yandere themes, brutal spanking/beating, child abuse, wounded reader, slight manipulation, Enji is an asshole, kidnapping, ass kicking threats (towards you), death threats (towards someone else)
Summary: What happens when Touya-nii comes home to find you a mess after a severe punishment from your father?
NOTES: Reader is thirteen years old. Reader has red hair. Like other works of mine concerning Platonic Yandere Dabi, he is in the LOV and living with his dad and siblings. Idfk, don’t come at me with plot holes.
Master List here.
—————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Looking out the window, you don’t understand. What’s taking him so long to get back? Touya should be home by now. He should have been home two hours ago.
“Get your elbows off the table, and eat your food, Y/N,” your father, Enji, Endeavor, orders you in a nasty snarl.
As if you’re not eating because you’re an ungrateful brat.
As if you’re not eating to spite him in some horrible way.
After all I’ve done for you! You can hear his distant voice ringing in your head like an explosion that has almost just settled but not quite.
You glare at your redheaded father with a dark and deep stare that’s too young for thirteen years old.
“Don’t look at me like that, and I won’t tell you again. Do as I say and eat.”
“Where’s Touya-nii?”
It’s all you ever say to him when he’s not here to act as your savior, the buffer between your hot head and your hot headed father.
Your fiery red hair isn’t the only thing you inherited from him.
Your father curses your disobedience, slamming his hand down on the table.
“That’s it, young lady! Either eat or go to your room.”
“Touya-nii would never talk to me like this!”
That’s not exactly true. There are many occasions where he, himself, drifts from his cool nature and is overcome with anger from some of your “dumbass antics” as he calls them.
He’ll hug you with a fierce possessiveness after he calms down and reverts to his level headedness. He’ll tell you that he’s just looking out for you, tells you that he needs you to understand just how precious you are to him. He tells you you’re his baby sister, and he’ll always be here to protect you.
You never heard a semblance of something like that come from your father’s mouth.
Not that it matters. No, you’ve given up on that long ago.
Your father, in all of his mighty glory as the patriarch of the Todoroki household, slams both his hands on the table and stands up. He towers over you like a massive boulder. It’s unsettling.
“Well, Touya’s not your father!”
You’re in dangerous territory.
“I fucking wish he was…”
And his quirk intensifies. He grabs you by the collar of your school shirt, roughly yanking you out of your seat.
Shoto looks shocked, Fuyumi looks like she’s about to say something, and Natsuo puts a hand on both of his siblings’ arms to keep them in their seats.
He knows that if someone does something against their father, then the entire house might burn down with everyone in it.
You feel your father’s flames lick the backs of your bare ankles as you traverse the stairs with him holding onto you firmly. You don’t wince, you don’t struggle, you’re used to this by now.
The door to your room busts open, oh so close to being torn off of its hinges. A knee jabs right into your stomach as you find yourself face down over his bulky thigh, just a giant mass of muscle.
“You’re so ungrateful.”
He spanks you hard with his flat palm.
“After everything I do for you!”
Your poor skin isn’t even kept safe from his hellflames. The fire scorches your bottom in ways you’ve never felt before. His quirk extending, amplifying with his brute anger.
You are what he chooses to release his frustrations upon this time.
How utterly fucking convenient.
You scream into your sheets, kicking your legs wildly.
You hear movement from above you, but you’re in so much pain that you think one slight shift might cause your ass to slide off of your body.
No, you would like very much for your poor butt to remain intact.
And then something even worse is hitting your backside in an angry barrage, and this time, oh this time you have to look — ass sliding off be damned.
It’s a leather belt. Well, that’s new. You’ve never had that before.
Touya-nii always fought for you over this, telling his father that you’re too damn young for the belt.
“If she’s old enough to mouth off, then she’s old enough to accept the consequences!” Your father had shouted right back in Touya’s scarred face.
Your father, up until now, never used the belt on you though, even after all of those arguments with your big brother.
Guess you went too far tonight.
“You act grown, so take it like a big girl if that’s how you want to behave!”
And the belt stings, stings more than you could ever imagine, causes throbbing and aching deep in your muscles, causes the tears already streaming down your cheeks to flow like rapid waters.
You ball your fists up, punching your mattress, pushing at your father’s knee with a weak grip. There’s nothing you can do to escape as he holds you down with one massive paw on the middle of your back.
You wheeze with the cracks in your heart growing deeper, growing wider. The hitched wail tumbling forth from your lungs like a desperate plea for a love reprieve that you know you’ll never get.
And then he’s standing up, letting you fall to the floor with a loud thud. And then he’s putting his belt back on, glaring down at you like a mighty warrior who has just defeated a rebel army. And then he’s leaving you all alone without a word.
And you ball your hands up, cross your arms on the wooden floor, and sob inconsolably.
———
It’s late at night having just woken up from a terrible dream on the floor of your bedroom. It takes so long to move to the banister, down the steps, into the kitchen. You can’t even be bothered to turn the light on. Takes so much for your muscles to drag a chair over to the giant refrigerator. You wish you were tall, something Touya-nii and Natsuo inherited from their father, one of the rare good qualities.
All of a sudden, a lanky arm wraps around your waist, and you cry out, not from surprise, but from the contact of your ass against someone’s front.
When you’re set down on your feet in the kitchen, you turn around and look up at Touya with watery eyes.
“Whatchya lookin’ for, squirt?” He ask absentmindedly as he rummages through the freezer for some microwave dinner to heat up.
You gulp down an onslaught of emotions trying to purge before you find composure.
“Ice.”
“Ah, woke up thirsty, huh? You get like that after having a bad dream. What? Was I chasing you around? Trying to tickle you until you piss yourself?” He snickers at his own version of a joke.
You rub your arms. “Something like that.”
Touya puts the ice in a glass for you, setting his microwaveable dinner aside on the counter so that he can take care of you first.
He moves to fill the glass with water, but you stop him.
“Wait, you don’t need to do that. You can just leave it as it is. I only wanted ice.”
You can’t manage eye contact. His eyes are too…intense. Too blue. That bright electric blue that cuts through you, can always tell when something’s wrong.
You don’t want him to find something wrong.
You don’t want something to be wrong.
Everything is okay now that the beating is over.
Ice. You just need ice. Ice and a goodnight hug from Touya will fix everything.
It always does.
But he grabs your chin and forces you to look at him, forces you to look into his vibrant cobalt eyes that cut through you like a knife dicing fruit.
Slices through you like it’s nothing.
Like you’re soft.
And maybe you are soft, too soft for your own good.
“What happened?” He shakes your jaw gently in his grasp.
And he sees them, sees the tears welling up in your eyes like a geyser by the light of the full moon shining in through the kitchen window.
And you see something gnarling, brewing, melting together behind that intense gaze of his, the only kind your big brother can carry. It screams danger and rage.
But you don’t want to say what’s wrong because nothing is supposed to be wrong. Everything is supposed to be okay.
Ice and a hug will make everything okay, but it’s never that easy for some reason.
Touya knows how to pull answers from you, even if it’s like pulling teeth. He always gets what he wants because he’s stubborn, just like you, just like your father.
“I…” You shake your head and advert your eyes, trying to pry his hand off of you.
But he’s your big brother, and your big brother is determined to know what’s bothering you. Deep down, you know you should just answer him, but you don’t want to. You want to rebel and get away with it!
When do you ever?
Why can’t things just be different sometimes?
“What. Happened?” Is his steady reply, putting emphasis on each word, slowly drawing it out between gnashed teeth.
And his eyes, those eyes filled with storms of his own, look at you like he NEEDS to know what’s causing yours to fill with tears so that he can destroy them.
“Dad-”
It’s all you had to say. He turns the light on, and then he’s yanking at your school uniform, trying to find the marks, trying to find anything that will cement even further just how much of a fucking monster, fucking piece of shit asshole their father is.
You don’t like having your sleeves all but torn off of you. And then he’s looking at your legs, lifting them hem of your skirt in a way you don’t like, trying to push it back down in place.
He doesn’t care. He needs to know where you’ve been hurt, needs to know so he can make it better. Not anyone else. Only he gets to make things better for you.
You hope that what you say next might make him stop shoving at your clothes, but you’re so wrong.
“Touya-nii! Stop it! He spanked me!” You snivel into your hands.
You’re spun around, the back of your skirt lifted up to the small of your back, pinned there by a warm hand that you can feel through your untucked shirt. There’s a heavy whimper caught in your throat as he digs one finger into the waistband of your panties and drags them all the way down to the middle of your thighs.
And it’s all over for him.
The welts. The bruises. The scorch marks. The blisters. The blood smeared across the curve of your bottom.
You don’t like it. You knew this would happen. This makes things feel not okay!
You know Touya-nii is probably so worried.
You never want him to be worried because he’s so good to you, the best sibling you could ever hope for.
But the longer he stands there looking at your beaten and raw ass, the more he stands there in complete silence, that’s how you really know things aren’t okay.
You step out of his hold, his grip on your shirt lax enough for you to wriggle out of. You right your underwear and adjust your skirt before turning to look at him with your arms crossed.
“That…that was not from a spanking. What the fuck did he do to you, baby?”
He pulls you into a tight hug, and this is exactly what you wanted — no, needed.
“I think he was so mad that his fire got on me, and he used his belt at the end.” You press your cheek against his chest.
There’s that silence again. A full five heartbeats go by where nothing is said. It doesn’t bother you. You don’t really want to talk about it anymore. Just want to be held by Touya-nii, the best big brother you could ever ask for, hope for, pray for.
Someone out there knew what you needed.
His arms around you are tighter, and you can tell he’s thinking…planning. Planning what, you don’t know.
“Everything will be alright. Your big brother is right here. He’s got you, baby.”
Baby. That’s right. You’re his baby. His baby sister who can do no wrong in his eyes. He knows when to stop being mean and coddle you, and right now is a time where you most definitely need his warmth instead of the venom laced through his teasing words.
———
All you know is that you’re too sore to be riding on a train, too damn sore to be walking around, too damn tired for whatever journey your big brother is taking you on.
And then you arrive at a rundown bar, and he’s taking you down the steps. The staircase seems like it goes on forever. You pass a lot of doors, walk even further and further down the hall until he stops and opens one.
The room is…dank to say the least. Rundown is a better description.
But so are you, right? Who are you to judge this room? It feels like a reflection of your insides.
Big brother Touya, with his hand still wrapped around your wrist, tugs you into the room and over to the bed where he has you lie down so that you can go to sleep.
You don’t at first. The place is entirely new. You don’t even really understand what this place is.
“Touya-nii, where are we? Why did you bring me here?”
He shakes his mass of black hair at you, sighing in his early twenty years. You understand the depth of which that sigh is coming from.
You sigh just like Touya-nii too.
“Go to sleep,” is all he says as he unties your black shoes, pulling them off of your feet. He lets them drop to the floor, and you cringe at the sound of the dull thud.
The fall from your father’s lap is too fresh in your memory.
“But, I wanna know-“
You don’t get the chance to finish your sentence. He’s already tucking the blanket in around you and pushing your face down against the scratchy pillow.
Huffing with the manhandling, you try to push his rough hands away.
“Okay, I’ll go to sleep, but you better answer my questions in the morning.”
“You’re my good girl, you know that?” His fingers brush your fiery red hair behind your ear. “I’m proud of you. I know you were real tired tonight, but you listened to me. You did everything I asked you to do without complaining or fighting me.”
Your cheeks blush. Of course you’re Touya’s good girl! You’d never deliberately disobey him. All you want is his praise, and here he is, offering it to you on a golden platter.
You take it with a hungry appetite.
He presses a kiss against your forehead and lies down next to you.
You know he runs warm, hot even, but you can’t help but feel bad for hogging the blanket.
“Move your fat ass, Touya-nii,” you tell him as you try to pull the blanket out from under him.
He huffs and flicks your cheek before acquiescing. He turns over only slightly, deciding to make things a bit easier but not entirely, still trying to make you work for the blanket even with a bit of his weight taken off.
He can’t help it. He’s still your big brother after all.
You grumble and puff, but you’re too stubborn to give in. It takes all of your effort just to gracelessly pull the blanket out from underneath your big brother and half hazardly throw it over him before lying down on your stomach.
“God, you’re so annoying, Touya-nii.”
“Why don’t you go cry about it, baby?”
And you smile before drifting off to sleep.
———
“You brought a kid here?!”
Your eyes immediately open. You blink, adjusting to your surroundings, remembering that Touya brought you here last night.
You stand up from the bed, walking closer to the door, pressing your ear up against it.
“Why would you bring a child here?!” The voice sounds like it’s cracking, crazed.
He sounds like he could use some water.
“I had to. There was nowhere else to take her. She won’t be a problem here.”
Touya-nii!
You open the door and step out into the hallway. Your eyes land on several people, all of them strangers. There’s a girl who looks about your age, but most of them are older men.
“Touya-nii, what’s going on?”
Stern. He looks at you with stern eyes and a pointed finger. “Get back in the room and shut the door.”
“But-“
“Listen to me or so help me, I will kick your ass.”
Oh, you know he most definitely will, but he doesn’t mean it in the way your father kicks your ass. No, never. He means he’ll tackle you, wrestle you, pinch you, maybe ground you to your room for a few hours if you piss him off enough. Never the brutal spankings, beatings, of your father. No, Touya-nii would never.
But you’re his good girl. His good baby, so you obediently tuck yourself away in the rundown room.
The conversation moves away from you. It’s obvious because you can’t hear voices outside of the door. You’re forced to lie down on the creaky bed, trying to shut your eyes.
———
It takes what feels like forever and a day for your brother to come back and get you. He sits down beside you, placing a hand on your back.
“So, you wanna know why I brought you here?”
You nod your head as if he just asked you such a stupid question because it is a stupid question.
You asked him that just last night!
“You’ll be staying here with me. This is…where I work, I guess you could say. Dad doesn’t know, and he’s not going to. He won’t be able to find you here. You’ll be safe here.”
“What about school? I left all of my things at the house.”
“You’ll have to forget about your stuff and school. I’m more worried about protecting you than seeing what kind of grades you bring home. I’m not letting him or anyone hurt you ever again. Dad can fucking go to hell. He had no right to do that to you, and I won’t let it happen again.”
“But, Touya! I need to go to school.”
He grabs your chin, forcing you to look into his eyes, determined azure seeping deeply into your soul.
“Fuck school. I don’t give a damn about school. You’re not going anymore and that’s final. This is your new home now. I can’t let you get caught. I won’t let you go back. I’ll keep you safe here.”
A lonely tear drips from your eye, turning into a cascade down both cheeks. “I don’t understand!”
And his palms are on your face, cupping your wet cheeks. His hands both warm and warn. The familiarity of it all trying to overwhelm you.
He’s trying to calm you.
It’s only making things worse.
“You don’t need to understand, baby. Your big brother is here. He’s got you. I’ll always be here to protect you. He’ll never hurt you again because I’m going to keep you safe here with me, and I’m going to kill that fucking bastard.”

Energy of the Fourth House
When discussing the placements within this post, I’ll be talking about the energy within the home and not what your childhood was like. The dominant personalities that your parents might have had  and the morals that they wanted to teach you. The lessons that have lived subtly within you as you grew up, ones that you might fall back on without realizing when the world gets to be too much. The fourth house speaks more to how your home felt, the energy it gave off, and how your parents presented itself. Your IC will be more reflective of what you experienced or how you were as a kid.
Tumblr media
Aries: Active and Independent household (surprise surprise). Those growing up with these elements are usually surrounded by those who want to integrate some sort of outdoor activity in their family time or were encouraged to try out for an extracurricular activity at some point in their adolescence. Things weren’t usually slow in the house and people were usually coming and going; whether that’s just movement within the home or people literally headed in and out to run errands or have fun. The other aspect of this sign is a tendency to flex a ‘selfish’ mindset. The guardians tend to disregard or not immediately listen to what others in the household crave or need for themselves. It’s not always on purpose or it’s from a wounded childhood themselves, but there is a quality of guardians prioritizing activities or things they prefer and assuming others want it as well without realizing. It can play out as them encouraging their child to try out for activities because they believe it’s best, passing judgment on social groups, choosing room styles, etc. Aries energy can be excitable and an initiator, so it tends to be very blunt and doesn’t overthink too much. It expects the other party to speak up, so when it doesn’t it assumes everything is okay. This is where it leads to the opposing Libra energy later on. It also, indirectly, can sometimes help the child stand up for themselves or get them to eventually speak up or become more vocal about things that they want for themselves. It leads to the balancing act within Libra as the overwhelming energy might lead one to be too explosive after suppressing for so long, but that’s another long conversation. With time, if the native can look back and learn to balance their experiences, they will become someone who knows when to listen to others but also speak up when feeling overlooked.
Taurus: When you have Taurus coloring your fourth house, it will absolutely lead to security. However, it will be more of a physical feeling of security and sometimes it won’t necessarily go beyond that. As a family unit, the goal will always be to make sure that everyone is cared for and has a roof over their head. There’s food on the table, clothes on their back, that they’re provided for no matter what. Even when things get difficult, the providers will ensure that those who need to be taken care of get their needs met first. This also tends to make the home and the family look put together during big events or get-togethers. Big ‘get dressed we’re having people over’ syndrome here. On its ‘days off’, there is a relaxed energy surrounding the family and home; it can seem somewhat messy at times or not care as much if the children make a mess playing games. they are either turned on to seem very put together or turned off and natural. The issue here is the influence of Venus and Earth. There is a desire to be among those that are ‘of the elite’, but they don’t ‘try too hard’ to have that lifestyle. It can cause some stress within the family as there’s an unmentioned desire to always be presentable during the right time, but if someone screws it up there is some tension for the next day or so since their reputation can get smudged. The emotional care can also be muted. The guardians won’t necessarily shy away from love, but it won’t be that ‘all encompassing’ love that people associate with families. It can range from long talks that don’t necessarily touch on the actual issue or short ones that end with “well I’m here if you need me you know that” due to awkwardness. Regardless, there is a legitimate and loyal love to be found with this sign, it is the sister sign of Scorpio after all.
Gemini: This home will be very active mentally. The parents will either be very knowledgeable of the family tree and it’s heritage, or there won’t be a trace of it. While they won’t be very proactive, they will also encourage and support the native in all their academic endeavors; traditional or not. The home can seem calm or soothing, but something is always happening. They may celebrate holidays as a way to spend time together, or there just may be many antics within the home. There is just a light-hearted energy flowing throughout the house, but not necessarily an emotional one. Everyone is on the go and they interact, but it’s not necessarily deep. Family members may interact with each other on a daily basis, but they may not know each other’s favorite foods or personal fears even after decades. There is also a possibility for there to be age gaps between siblings, which adds onto the somewhat distant relationship within the home and imbalance between how the parents relate to each child. The native with this sign may end up being the youngest, and sees the home as their own playground; usually metaphorically but it may also be literally. They are more prone to having a somewhat disconnected relationship to their family, and there is an emphasis on questioning many things in general growing up (and they may grow frustrated if there is no answer or they can tell they’re being denied). The guardians themselves can come off as being checked out and very lax. They will always be willing to teach their child informal knowledge like secret recipes, life hacks, silly tricks, etc. Due to the native naturally being inquisitive and dabbling in many things, the parents won’t worry too much about their studies but they will be disappointed if they fail or get a severe punishment from the school. At it’s best, this is an informal, hands off household. At it’s worst it can end up being turbulent for the native.
Cancer: The fourth house is able to shine here, which can be good and bad. The native will experience a very loving and nurturing home. The natives will more than likely experience that of a stereotypical home, what writers first think of when they reference the white picket fence and someone who came from a stabilized childhood. The home will be stuffed with mementos or scrapbooks; the parents will have a bad habit of keeping anything that represents a landmark or loving memory for members of the family well beyond their expiration date. They will be sensitive people; often in-tune with their children and more than likely keep up to date with their interests and current events to the best of their abilities. There is a high chance of having family recipes or emphasis on quality times with this sign coloring your fourth house. The issue is that sometimes these actions can become smothering or possibly cross boundaries for the native. Due to the tight-knit bond that is created, the guardians can become hurt or confused if their child does not tell them everything, which is bound to happen at times. They struggle to completely hide their hurt or sentimentality over changes within the home, but they do their best to adjust to small things like their kids no longer participating in family events, hanging out with friends more, rebelling more, etc. The guardians will not notice if they’re ‘embarrassing’ their child, since their main worry is losing connection with their children. Those who are not well adjusted will have a tendency to lean on their children instead of giving them a place to always come back to for shelter. They see their children as their safe haven instead since this wound has not been healed within themselves yet, and as the native tries to fight back or distance themselves, the guardian might see it as them being ungrateful. They need to heal wounds before this house can shine in the way that it should. Parents who are balanced will always be able to provide a safe and warm home for the native to run back to if they need it, but they will not force it upon them.
Leo: This one will be answered differently since it’s not as stereotypical beneath the surface. It’s split between the guardians behaving like children themselves and avoiding responsibility, or they can be involved in creative endeavors themselves, thus introducing and surrounding the native to the creative field at an early age. A smaller branch is that the native will showcase their natural talents from an early age, and will either have those talents encouraged or seen as an annoyance from the parents. One thing for sure, is that no matter what artistic and honest expression will find their way to the native. The world will find a way to make sure the native is able to express their inner child or is able to get their talents out into the world. They will find a way to protect and nurture what is pure within the soul of a Native with Leo covering the Fourth House when it comes to their inner child. Real world examples would be Danny Trejo; having a childhood that most people would write off as someone who is unfortunate and taken by the streets thus it was too late for him, but has the big name that he has now and, fitting the theme, made the series Spy Kids – causing him to be loved by children. On the opposite end we then have Miley Cyrus, which I shouldn’t have to explain but her relatives are nearly all musicians: Billy Ray Cyrus and technically Dolly Parton, and of course her siblings were involved in the Disney scene so they ended up being musicians between that or having a gift for singing themselves. Miley was usually with her father on his tours if I recall, and her mother Tish managed her during her Disney years. So this is one of the ways Leo can play out over your fourth. It is either all encompassing or the guardians will end up being a bit immature; wanting to live their dreams through their children and not stepping up to the plate of parenthood. Even if their home environment is not secure, the natives will always be guided to a community or friends where they can express themselves sincerely, or simply to the right place at the right time. Whether it’s the native’s subconscious innocence or sheer will, it is impossible to fully extinguish the sun, especially when they’re young.
Virgo: The cerebral energy turns a bit more stable and serious with Virgo over the fourth. The home will look polished, but not over the top. They will have the necessities and anything more will be seen as a treat to celebrate big events or achievements. The main energy is that what happens in the home is consistent and reliable. The parents make sure there isn’t much chaos or upheaval within the household so the children aren’t upset or distracted by what goes on. There is dedication to the house and they make sure that either party has their life balanced so it doesn’t disturb everyone else, and any issues are dealt with behind the scenes. Importance is also placed on formal education. There is a high chance that the parents will do their best to get their kid into the best school that they can, or they will be very involved in their academics and extracurriculars. The success rate of this depends on the native; the household may be stable, but the household may end up being very stale or boring in the eyes of the native as a child. There isn’t much external stimulation, so the native may either go through the motions and be a dutiful student, or they may completely ignore their studies to dive fully into a passion that excites them. The parents will not be very vocal with their expectations but the native will catch on quickly what behavior is acceptable and what isn’t. While every placement is capable of creativity, this is a sleeper agent of incredible artistic ability. It is usually covered up by the practical energy the native is first introduced to and it takes some time for them to find it, and usually the native is quite critical of themselves. There’s also a decision on what to focus on and struggle to balance both academics as well as their passion, but with time the native will be able to shine in both areas.
Libra: Reminiscent of a Taurus fourth house, but the focus is shifted elsewhere. It is all about presentation with this house – in more ways than one. The house will more than likely be presentable or everyone knows to pick up behind themselves and to not make large messes. Manners are taught and enforced at an early age, but the guardians will not be overly aggressive. They will usually try to be fair with punishments and encourage communication. This extends to the community around you as well, so the relationship or ‘care’ can feel a bit empty at times since it’s stretched so thin. Emphasis on being connected with those around them and building relationships is very important with this house. As a kid, you probably saw your parents interacting with your neighbors a lot, or possibly engaging with your school activities if they needed help. Generally, the guardians will try to be involved in their kid’s lives as well as the community – sometimes it can become unbalanced, sometimes it’s too much, but it’s out of love). However, they still worry about presentation and how others perceive their family. They might get on their kids about how they dress or their speech, to an annoying degree. Ironically, this isn’t the main source of tension, it’s the slightly detached energy in the home. There is love, support, and fun within the home, but at the same time, deep talks, connection, or bonds don’t have anywhere to really grow. None of this really causes a problem until something needs to be discussed and the person wonders when or if there’s ever a right time for it. Discussions will attempt to go deep, but they will always be open and try to be fair about the topic – attempting to give helpful solutions while being understanding of how the person is feeling. The issue is getting past the first step of pointing out the elephants in the room.
Scorpio: The natives with this fourth house can experience a protective childhood. Not in the stereotypical sense, but the native’s experiences will be controlled in a way. Their guardians will let them have fun, take risks even, but under their control and watchful eye. Think about it as if Saturn is overseeing them. If the guardian doesn’t believe their child will be safe or can handle events at a certain age, then they’ll be denied until the time is right. There will be times that they’ll let their child go out and explore the world in their eyes, but in reality stepping stones and barriers are still in place. AKA, their child can be quickly protected at a moment’s notice either by them or a relative that is within reach, or they’ve already made rough plans for their child’s success. There can also be an air of deep connection or bonding within the family home. They want to know or understand their child and can possibly be hurt if this is interrupted or doesn’t go as planned. They don’t really place emphasis on what the home looks like, but there will probably be family dinners or game nights – something that will give space for conversation or a feeling of safety or openness between family members. There is a chance that if the bond is not as deep as the guardian craves, they can react negatively depending on how mature the person is. Regardless of if it’s out of love, the parent can either become overbearing or slightly distant or cold as a means to cope with what didn’t go ‘according to plan’. However, there is always a sense of connection and relativity. The guardian will always feel the need to be there for their family despite what is presented on the surface.
Sagittarius: Natives with this fourth house will usually hear things like ‘moving around a lot, street or life knowledge over book knowledge’ etcetc, which is true! There’s more to it though. There is a high chance that the guardians will have a career that requires them to be away from home most of the time, or to travel constantly. If not, there is a chance that the family will move around a lot either to follow different career or school opportunities. They do not want to be constrained by the idea of meeting a goal and stopping there, they want to see what life has to offer and aren’t afraid to go after it. On the other hand, some parents aren’t too keen on the constant adjustments, but it’s expected of them. This leads to the family building a strong and close bond with each other, and not worrying too much about external bonds. The desire will be there, but they are used to being on the move and short lived friendships or connections. So relying on the family becomes a theme. This might also lead some natives to yearn for a stable adulthood even if they enjoyed the constant movement as a child. The guardians won’t enforce strict household rules, but they will want their children to uphold strong morals or stick by a certain ethical code. This, along with the slight loose hand of the parents, will lead to the native learning more about the ways of life as opposed to book knowledge. Their upbringing can bring attention to them, positive or negative, but it also means that they interact with a larger walk of life. This quality can give a weird blend of knowing your parent is your guardian while they also feel like a best friend, making lines a bit blurry and having the chance to either feel like there was no structure within the home or you ended up having to parent yourself at times.
Capricorn: Natives with this energy over the fourth usually experience a ‘tense’ household. By that, I mean that all things associated with domesticity are muted or subtle. Guardians will usually focus on raising the native responsibly or instilling strong morals, but can sometimes forget to bring the emotional aspect into the mix. The parents will believe in their children to an extreme degree, which can put stress on the child to feel like even a B can be seen as a failure. The issue is usually that the parents communicate or deal with issues in such a serious manner that, when young, the native cannot differentiate when their parents are truly disappointed in them and when they’re not. Affection will usually be shown by example as opposed to verbally. There can be instances where the Guardian is more focused on work, but it can also play out with them pushing the native to be perfect due to their belief in them. A double-edged sword basically. There will be a lot of rules implemented or the native will usually attend a private, charter, all girls/boys or high profile school. The parents want nothing but the best for their child, but tend to go overboard and end up dropping a lot of pressure and giving their children forms of performance anxiety by accident. Due to pressures or how strict the household is, the native will learn how to sneak around their guardians at an early age. If you know someone with a Capricorn fourth house, there is a high chance they know various tricks and have snuck out of the house more times than they can count. They may not be rebellious by nature, but the restrictions that are placed on them give the native a chance to get creative which may help them later on in life.
Aquarius: The natives who will end up maturing themselves without realizing. When you have Aquarius sitting in the fourth house, there will always be a quality that makes you stand out from those around you. You could either be a foreigner, your traditions are unique, the familial roles within your home aren’t the standard, etc. It can relate to Sagittarius in a way, except where people will either be enamored or flock to Sagittarius, they will point or stare at Aquarius. The way the home operates does not disturb the native necessarily, since they were raised within it and grow used to it over time. This can also manifest in smaller ways such as one guardian working night/erratic shifts, not celebrating holidays, different displays of affection, etc. Regardless, the native will soon become aware of how different they are to their classmates. The native will react in two ways: to avoid attention and keep their head down, or not be bothered and simply normalize their lives as much as they can, answering any questions that come their way. Despite the assumptions, the home can be very receptive and loving. It takes on the Aquarian qualities quite literally; the guardians will be a bit hands off but their love will be felt in other ways. You have to find it in other ways. Due to this combination, the native will subconsciously mature quickly. They will more often than not need to have their own special cove for themselves since they are prone to feeling out of place and out of body within themselves until their middle or late teens.
Pisces: Those having Pisces over their fourth house might have a loose grasp of their childhood memories. There’s a very caring and soft energy to be felt for natives that have this sign here. There’s a possibility that they could have been coddled in their younger years in some way as well. Caretakers will view the native as someone who is very sensitive or they will have their own made up perception of them. So the native might be someone who isn’t excitable but still sociable, however that will be twisted into being shy or closed off when described by their guardian. For those who are sensitive, the side effect of them being sheltered is very high. If the native doesn’t go out of their way to experience life themselves, breaking free of their parent’s grasp will happen later in life. This doesn’t create much conflict outwardly as it does internally; the family will seem very mellow and loving, wanting what’s best for the child. However, the child will also not place too much importance on what they might want since they also tend to be adaptable, not very fussy, and care about their guardian’s happiness. Due to this misunderstanding, the guardian’s can sometimes push their will onto the native — which usually is never ill-intentioned. This is what causes the rose-colored glasses view of their childhood. There are memories that they might throw away or emotions they could suppress whenever revisiting their childhood. They could be well aware of the difficult circumstances of their past but still wash over them with a ‘it wasn’t so bad’ smile. There is a martyrdom that comes with Pisces where if their family is happy, then they’re happy. These kinks will be worked out at some point in their later teenage or adult years when they can no longer outrun the beast.

apologies if this has been asked already, but I'm curious as to why you enjoy monsterhearts so much? you recommend it because the mechanics support narrative arc, due to the way the skins are narratively connected to a certain high school clique. but I found that to be the most frustrating part of the game, honestly.
I was constantly hitting my head against the narrative and my character because it felt like there was only one way to really play a skin and their arc. one of my favorite things to do in ttrpgs is to Subvert classes and tropes, but in monsterhearts your relationship to your class (and the mechanics that go with it) feel either static or inevitable. The Queen is always the Queen Bee, which I guess makes sense, but it simply feels boring.
your monsterheart post was in response to why everyone likes d&d warlock, and op said its because warlock's mechanics are strictly tied to its narrative, but i disagree: I think a lot of people, me included, like warlock because of the Choices and freedoms that come with the class. you didn't Have to play a warlock with a direct, antagonistic, and codependent conflict with their patron. because the game does not have any specific mechanics for patrons, you can kind of do whatever with them.
I always think that limits will make someone think more creatively in those bounds, and I was hoping monsterheart would have that sort of creative energy, but when I was playing it, I felt like I was wrangling the rules and my own moveset at every turn.
am i simply not viewing the game in the right way? is it just not for me? am i not being creative enough? I'm trying to get over the mindset that rules are the enemy, but idk. i just haven't been able to really get into smaller ttrpgs except like, troika! (which i do love a lot tbh), and i want to know what I'm missing. sorry for the long, rambling question
It might simply not be for you. For me the fact that the skins each represent a clear narrative trope within high school drama that has ways that the rules encourage them to act in (those ways being Bad because the point of the game is to produce explosive melodrama) is a net positive, because the character skins are not just "classes" but also archetypes. And while within a single skin the narrative arc of the character can feel like it's prewritten it never exists in isolation: there are always the other PCs, the rest of the school, and the town the characters live in, as well as whatever Threat threatens the town this time. All of those, in combination, are what makes the arc and what makes the narrative truly emergent. Monsterhearts really shines as a game where the PCs are at each other's throats and working at cross purposes, and because of that the best experience comes from approaching it via simply producing the most fun melodrama while trying to fuck with the other characters.
Also I do think there's something to be said for the freedom afforded by the Warlock in D&D in having the license to consider the character's relationship to their patron, but I also see that there being very little meat to the relationship with the patron, mechanically, means that there is also very little narrative weight attached to it. Because narratives in RPGs emerges from mechanics. The Warlock is a great example of a class that has well-established ties to the fiction of the world and that suggests drama, but still leaves all of that up to the group. Or, as @rathayibacter said in the replies to that post:
the thing that kills me is that, rules as written, your warlock patron doesnt actually matter. dnd gives zero tools to the players or gms for how to get a warlock's patron involved in the game outside a few vague suggestions. it's the best the game's got to offer, and its still 95% people bringing their own soup to the restaurant that only sells stale crackers.
Anyway, D&D also has strong character archetypes for the point of the game it's mechanically most opinionated about: combat. While people do complain about Rogues doing nothing but sneak attack all day, that's literally what the fiction sets them up to do, and a Rogue that sneak attacks all day in D&D is doing God's own work. So too with the Mortal who ends up in the middle of a romantic triangle/square/pentacle in Monsterhearts thus making the situation more fucked up, because that drama is what the mechanics of Monsterhearts are concerned with.
But yeah tastes on this do vary and some people are okay with background stuff being just suggestions, but I personally like it when it is actually in harmony with and supported by the mechanics, because that makes the fiction tangibly real in the game. But idk

🪱 hey ik its been so long since ive said anything but ive been thinking about something the demon brothers and side characters dating mc (not poly) and catch mc wearing someone else’s shirt. Man i can see that getting violent
Welcome back, 🪱 anon! No worries, you can come back as frequently or infrequently as you like!
Now okay so we're dealing with some jealous characters, huh?
I kind of think the brothers are always at a disadvantage in a situation like this. Because MC can just use "sit" to prevent them from doing anything completely off the rails. However, I do think some brothers are smart enough to avoid that while others would just immediately react explosively. I'm also assuming this is an innocent shirt borrowing situation like MC ripped theirs or spilled on it or something.
Lucifer and Belphie, for instance, are the type that would wait. Bide their time until the owner of the shirt was alone and MC was far away and then... well nobody ever heard from that person again. MC was like huh I wonder whatever happened to that nice demon that let me borrow their shirt?
Mammon would lose his shit instantly. He gets weird when he thinks his own brothers are getting too flirty with MC. He's throwing down with whoever he thinks is responsible that very second. MC can either attempt to stop him or they can just let him go for it. If they choose the latter, he'll try to act cool later like he didn't just get into a fight with someone for lending MC a shirt.
Levi just soaks everybody. I don't think he even fully processes what he's seeing before Lotan makes an appearance. Good luck to MC dealing with him after that lol.
Side characters on the other hand don't have pacts with MC, so "sit" isn't even a thing they need to worry about.
I kinda see Barbatos being supremely chill about it. He's absolutely jealous, but he's so good at being calm and shielding his feelings. I see him taking MC home where they change out of the shirt and then he offers to have it washed for them. Let him take care of it, MC, he'll bring it back to its owner. The next day, Barbatos leaves that demon with a clean, folded shirt and a threat that leaves them shivering in fear. Meanwhile, Barb retains his usual smile, so nobody is the wiser.
Solomon is another one prone to jealousy. But I see him "accidentally" destroying the shirt instead of taking care of it lol. Oops spilled a horrible potion all over it! Don't worry, MC, he'll apologize to the demon who lent it to you. He delivers the remains of the shirt along with a very inconvenient curse.
Of course I think if MC intervened in any of these situations, the characters would all listen to them. I think MC could talk any of them down from such heightened reactions if needed, even without the "sit" command.

emberfaye replied to your post "choose violence ask game except its just me complaining about fic tropes..."
☕☕☕☕
am going to do my absolute BEST not to ramble too much here, but okay so!! 4 Chay things that will have me back-flipping out of a fic at the speed of light:
babyfication of Chay
i just. ugh. ugh. he is not a baby. he's a 17-18yo guy who half-raised himself due to some shit circumstances and took care of himself entirely by himself for minimum several months. the only difference between him and an adult is that he's not making his own income. Porsche and Arthee doing their best to give Chay as much of a childhood as they can afford him still doesn't change the fact that Chay grew up young and fast just like the rest of this cast. if he acts uwu innocent baby i'm gone. if the author calls him an uwu baby in their notes i'm gone. ugh.
being weird about Chay's or Barcode's age, specifically in regards to sex
as above, i'm pretty shirty about people babying him in general, but fandom is plain weird about Chay having sex. esp him and Kim having sex. 1. their age gap is not that big, and their circumstances have left them on pretty equal footing re the growing up too fast thing. 2. please assess why you think 18 fixes whatever your concerns are with 17yos having sex. 3. teens have sex. dunno what tf was happening with the rest of you but i knew kids even young as junior high who were already fucking. sure, i thought they were fucking idiots for it, but my concerns about people having sex young are rooted in the fact that sex is an inherently very vulnerable act and that's a lot to put yourself thru emotionally during the age range when everything's a wild emotional cocktail. but like. teens still do it. teens are gonna experiment with adult things and sometimes that means experimenting with sex. i personally might not think it's a good idea, but something not being a good idea doesn't inherently make it a bad one either. please stop being weird about it thanks.
calling Chay "bambi"
i just really don't like it. part of it's related to the babyfication thing, but mostly it's just one of those silly things my brain went nOPE on and oh well. back click. 😂
mischaracterizing Chay's anger
so like. this one is tricky because a lot of it comes down to personal interpretation of canon, but also like. a lot of my mischaracterization gripes involves people writing tropes or drama anger instead of Chay's anger, so. yeah. 😂 a lot of people default to writing explosive anger because it's easier to write, but in canon Chay is just. so completely not explosive. and it's not because he's bottling up anger (which!! even if he was, suddenly exploding due to pressure isn't a good thing, gah).
a lot of Chay's personality stems from Needing To Be Okay. a lot of Chay's personal motivations are trying to help Porsche with his burdens and when Porsche won't let him take on extra responsibilities, Chay does what he can to not add to Porsche's plate. and part of not being a burden is quietly dealing with his anger and resentments on his own time. (another factor playing into that is Porsche and Chay really only have each other-- Porsche deals with his anger very quietly too, and it's very characteristic of how they really don't want to hurt each other because they don't have many other people they care about, so they remove themselves from tense/bad situations best they can to reflect on their anger and return to talk about it after they've calmed down.)
Chay is fierce in his anger, but he withdraws when he's pissed and he always tries to talk it out with the intention of achieving clarity. and if i don't feel like a story's going to handle Chay's resentment/anger in a way that feels true to how it was shown in canon (there's a few litmus tests but mostly i'm going by vibes), i just click out because i already know any plot conflict won't feel fully or properly resolved to me in the end :/

Presenting: A Mostly Complete Breakdown of the KotOR II Crew's Relationships With Each Other
(Assuming a LS Exile, a dollop of headcanon, and a lot of reading time)
Kreia
Kreia and Atton: Of all the crewmate dynamics in the game, this one's the most well-explored, with a particularly glorious smattering of high-grade explosives. What's maybe less apparent is why they hate each other. Atton's part is straightforward; his demeanor towards Kreia starts out the same abrasive, pseudo-hostile that's his default. It sours further when she talks down to him and acts like a holier-than-thou Jedi, but he'll still interact with her willingly. And it bottoms out into murderous, trapped loathing at the Telos academy, where Kreia becomes his slavemistress and he avoids her whenever possible, desperately hungry to lash out but terrified of her retribution.
Why does Kreia hate Atton so much, though? It starts out because he's an irreverent bastard, but I think it comes down to two main reasons. Number one is that he reminds her of Sion, her worst student. They're a pair of stubborn, sadistic, infatuated blockheads who took all the wrong lessons from Malachor and run about with their oversimplified conclusions causing destruction for no purpose but its own sake. Most importantly, what Atton shirks and what Kreia embraces is accountability. Kreia believes in ownership of one's choices to the point that she can't accept redemption – wanting to change, admitting you were wrong - as an honest decision. Atton? Atton doesn't believe in redemption either, but that's because he fuckin' bails rather than own up to anything. And when Kreia uncovers that, how he cowers from his own nature, her scorn is boundless.
Reason two is that Kreia would have rather traveled with the Exile alone, shaping them in isolation of other influences. Atton is the first spanner in this plan. Later on it becomes clear that the Force has designs for the Exile, and that their entourage is simply something she must contend with, but Atton still gets the short end of the stick here because he's one of the companions who wants to get close to the Exile, especially if they're a lady. And the possibility of Atton, who is a lesson in doing everything wrong, influencing the Exile? Not on her watch.
Kreia and Bao-Dur: Bao-Dur is one of the crewmates Kreia hates most, though not through any fault of his own. He defies her probing (she really doesn't like it if she learns he actually can be read, just not by her), and she also dislikes the old and powerful connection he has with the Exile, because anyone who can mold the Exile, or who they'll turn to for support, fundamentally undermines her mentorship. Bao-Dur is neutral to Kreia at first but comes to distrust her the more he overhears. Her guidance to the Exile sets off a lot of red flags, but he doesn't really feel prompted to act on it unless the Exile starts listening to her – whereupon he'll incorrectly blame his General's fall on Kreia and attempt to act in their protection.
Kreia and Mira: Kreia doesn't particularly see Mira as a threat compared to many of the others. A foolish little girl clinging to a code that will get her killed, yes. But she's not an obstacle to her plans for the Exile, being as standoffish as she is, and so Kreia leaves her to her own devices, biding her time for the day she'll be tested. Mira is very wary of Kreia without fully understanding why – looks harmless, but Mira's good at feeling people and Kreia gives her all kinds of bad vibes – so she keeps a wide berth. Any conversations they've had have been very short and very acerbic on both sides.
Kreia and Brianna: This gets really complicated if you ascribe to the 'Kreia is Arren Kae' theory, which I do. It would certainly explain why Kreia's hackles go up when Brianna joins the crew, when the connection to Atris and later her antipathy for Visas is something she makes liberal use of, and also why she's so disapproving of training Brianna to be a Jedi when she expresses very little opinion on the subject for anyone else. There might be a smidgen of an old desire to keep her out of harm's way (and even moreso, to remain free of the Force and its machinations), but Kreia refuses to allow whatever feelings remain influence her decisions – and she throws Brianna right into harm's way when she uses her at the rebuilt Enclave and drops her off at a freshly-unhinged Atris's feet. That right there kills any nascent thoughts I might have had of Kreia approaching Brianna for any constructive reason during their earlier travels. Before everything goes down, I don't see them crossing paths much – Kreia has an especial desire to keep her distance and Brianna is not one to socialize.
Kreia and Mical: There is not a lot of interaction that can happen when you've been mindwhammied into forgetting the other person exists. I don't think Mical knew Kreia was on the ship at all until the game's climax, even when he was looking right at her. Kreia has an interesting opinion on Mical, though. She definitely disdains his idealism and softheartedness, but I think she does respect him in a backhanded way – he's the only one who managed to figure out what was happening, and actually forced her hand in order to keep the game afoot. I certainly read a sort of admiration in “you were a wasted pawn of the Republic,” and that's more than anyone else on the crew gets out of Kreia.
Kreia and Visas: So Kreia resents Visas, a lot. She did not want the Exile to have to face Nihilus, and Visas's arrival locked that very dangerous confrontation in stone. She adapts her plans quite successfully, because she's nothing if not resourceful, but Kreia's attempts to prey on Brianna's distrust and inflame her jealousy have nothing to do with any threat Visas presents. I think it also comes back to her scorn for both weakness and redemption; if Visas was weak enough to have her will crushed, she doesn't deserve to be lifted up, and the Exile only wastes their limited energy on a pity project. On her end, Visas is a remarkably mellow individual, but Kreia is the one person on the ship she does not trust. The others are clear presences through the Force, even drawn towards the Exile's alignment as they are. When she looks at Kreia, her sight is... blurred. Difficult to see. And her Master had spoken of his own Master, a Darth Traya...
Kreia and Canderous: I doubt Kreia sees Canderous as anything more than one of Revan's creatures, broken upon their charisma and following their orders in vain. She's generally pretty uninterested in any of the crewmates beyond their potential uses, but her treatment of Canderous is especially dismissive in that she doesn't even care if he sees her for what she is. I find her general scorn of the Mandalorians interesting, given that they do espouse a lot of the philosophy she shares in-game – they have a sink-or-swim ideology that eschews aid and forces each member to survive on their own merits, always seeking adversity to become strong lest they dull their edge, without falling into the Sith trap of self-destruction through infighting. I guess they're not subtle enough for her tastes. Canderous hates her for the same reason Atton does – she didn't even try to hide the fact that she was manipulating him, just nailed him to the wall on day one. Even if she hadn't been so blatant, I doubt Canderous has much trust for Jedi-types lying around after the plot twist of the first game. Revanchists, he's totally game to hang out and swap war stories, but Kreia's more of the 'preachy old crone in robes' breed of Jedi and he remembers what happened the last time he trusted those.
Kreia and T3-M4: Oh boy, but Kreia does not like the metal cinnamon roll. She's got issues with her students having attachments to people that aren't her, and she already dislikes droids for their immunity to mental alteration and probing. Which is actually intensely hypocritical of her, since she otherwise praises things that are dead to the Force and can defy its will – but I suppose it's less laudable when the Force in question is her own. Same as how Kreia praises focusing on practical skills rather than the Force, yet apart from her persuasion has few of her own, which is why these droids can defy her so. Add in that it's T3's navicomputer lock that's preventing Kreia from discovering where Revan has gone, and it's no surprise she blasts him in the cut content. For T3's part, he's never liked the old woman – she's very rude, yes, but more important is the question of how exactly Kreia got on the ship in the first place. How and when, I don't know, but she definitely hijacked T3's ship at some point and interrupted his Very Important Mission. Even if their goals ended up being aligned, T3 has issues with people who think they don't have to ask for his permission.
Kreia and HK-47: For this one, we're back to Kreia's refusal to view droids as people. In her eyes, HK-47 is yet another one of the tools Revan lavished their time on in a meaningless sidetrack from their true potential. Unlike T3, though, HK doesn't present an ongoing obstacle, just a blunt instrument and an irritating reminder of her former student's proclivities. HK, for his part, frequently occupies his processors with potential scenarios where he could terminate the old-model meatbag without compromising his Master's integrity. The unusually strong Force bond presents an altogether new challenge for his assassination protocols and he's eager to overcome fresh obstacles – for purely hypothetical purposes, of course.
Atton
Atton and Bao-Dur: They tolerate each other, which is as good as things get with Atton. It's a sort of wary, untapped understanding that they've both done some shit and don't want to talk about it, and they've kind of got a personal issue with the other's war crimes (and that sure is a KotOR II sentence) but don't think it's worth it to drag it out. It could warm up into something friendlier if they ever hashed out an understanding – they have some crucial things in common and could really get each other in a way most of the crew couldn't – but it would take something big to get that talk to happen. Apart from the history, Bao-Dur thinks Atton is ridiculous and Atton thinks Bao-Dur is a stick in the mud and a gearhead, but they do trust each other to have the General's back. And that's the most important thing to both of them, so they get along all right.
Atton and Mira: They snipe at each other constantly, and get into more verbal brawls than anyone else, since they're both pretty chatty and not afraid to insert themselves into other people's business. But their relationship isn't as hostile as it looks from the outside, even if it has involved stolen equipment and at least one minor sonic charge being planted on the pilot's seat. They annoy the hell out of each other, but Atton is about as fond of Mira as he is of anyone who isn't the Exile. She's relatable without the traits that make him despise himself, and when they're on the job, the two of them often end up backing the same strategy, or spouting very unintentionally synchronized “oh, kriff no”s to someone else's, despite having no actual desire to agree with each other.* And Mira thinks Atton's an idiot, but he's a familiar kind of idiot, and he's good for a laugh (read: easy to wind up and create some on-demand performance art.)
(*For posterity's sake, group strategizing usually slices out like this: Atton, Mira, and Visas on Team Sneaky Fuckers; Brianna, Canderous, and HK-47 on Team Why Don't We Just Light The Place Up; and Mical and very occasionally Bao-Dur on Team I Am Very Concerned You Would Suggest That. Kreia would be a Sneaky Fucker but refuses to provide positive reinforcement to any of these cretins. Poor T3's contributions go nearly unnoticed due to half the crew not understanding Binary. G0-T0 vacillates between Sneaky Fuckery and systemic elimination of all obstacles depending on the situation, and for Hanharr, do you even have to ask?)
Atton and Brianna: They openly hate each other. Brianna thinks Atton is undisciplined and uncouth, Atton thinks the Handmaiden's a self-righteous bitch. The reason they really loathe each other instead of the usual 'just thinks that person is really annoying' is because they don't trust each other to have the Exile's best interests at heart – Atton thinks she's a spy and Brianna thinks he's a slimy, lying opportunist, and if she learns who he really is, that's going to get five times worse. Both of them have fantasized about kicking the other's ass at length, but Brianna has too much discipline to start a fight and Atton's worried that he might not come out on top. Killing her would be easy, but an honorable duel with a crazy Echani ice queen who spends every waking hour boxing air in her skivvies? No thanks.
Atton and Mical: Atton despises Mical on principle. Everything Mical does infuriates him, no matter how innocuous. Mical needs help in a firefight? Useless fop, don't know why we let him tag along. Mical heals Atton afterwards? Pushy asshole thinks he's better than me. Mical asks Atton to pass him the salt at breakfast? Get it yourself, you needy bastard. Mical looks in the Exile's direction? Die in a fire, Blondie. He drags him endlessly, coming up with a stream of excuses to hate him when the reality of it is that Atton's pissed that Mical is a better person than him in every single way, and has decided to react to that by resenting his existence rather than, y'know, trying to improve himself at all.
On the other side, Mical dislikes Atton - it would be very strange if he didn't - but he's patient and diplomatic, rarely rising to the bait and occasionally extending olive branches (which only serve to make Atton angrier and more unreasonable.) He wants Atton to work out his issues, because that in turn would be best for the Exile who cares for all of them, and also because he hopes that it might get him to improve his behavior. Of course, it'd be much simpler to drop Atton off on the next planet, but unfortunately he's already ruled out the possibility.
Atton and Visas: They don't interact much. Visas doesn't have any particular feelings about Atton; she trusts him because his feelings towards the Exile are clear and that's the only metric that matters to her. Atton doesn't care that she was Sith, it becomes obvious by like three days in that she's not a threat and the Handmaiden's full of it – it's her servility that creeps him out. It's that Jedi tendency to act like drones instead of people. He doesn't know what to do with that (he does, knows a lot about how to crack open their shells, but not in any way he wants to remember), so he keeps his distance. The sad thing about this is that they do have some big things in common; they're ex-Sith who lost all hope in the galaxy only to have it restored by the Exile, who they'd gladly die for because they don't value their own lives and because the Exile is so much greater than they could ever be. But I can't realistically see Atton taking his walls down for that conversation to happen. Visas can talk about her feelings but keeps to herself; Atton reacts to emotional honesty like a wet cat.
Atton and Canderous: Pretty hostile. Atton's not as overt about it as Bao-Dur (since his hate congealed in a different direction), but he has any veteran's grudge against the Mandalorians and doesn't love the idea of them reorganizing. Canderous has a thick hide when it comes to trading jabs, but he's less tolerant of anyone shit-talking his people and their honor, and you can bet Atton has made plenty of snipes from the relative safety of the Exile's favor. Atton eventually ends up crawling to the Exile to bail him out after Canderous calls him out on his bullshit and challenges him to throw hands, because he could kick Atton's ass in a brawl and Atton fully knows this but will not admit it.
Atton and T3-M4: T3-M4 has done nothing wrong in his life, ever, and Atton is proof that there is no fairness in the galaxy. T3 retaliates by inconveniencing Atton in endlessly small ways – colliding with him while he's carrying food, tweaking his laundry cycle to singe his clothes, constantly changing the astrogation system's access codes. And, of course, baiting him into pazaak only to crush him with his superior logic matrices. Atton brought all of this on himself and T3 would strongly consider stopping if Atton would only apologize and admit he has been very rude and mean. He doesn't.
Atton and HK-47: A flaming mess. Atton distrusts T3-M4, who is a cinnamon roll with a shock arm; now take his irrational hatred of droids, add in psychotic programming and an expressed desire to murder everyone on board, and you can be sure he's sleeping with his door locked. This is made worse because while HK-47 also hates Atton, he's very interested in his past as a fellow assassin and Jedi-hunter – irritated that Atton seems to have fallen prey to that insidious meatbag disease known as 'regret', but he has no desire to respect those boundaries and is highly curious about comparing their tactics and K-D ratios. Mostly because HK wants to express his clear superiority over his meatbag imitators, but also because there may be an opportunity to refine his craft. (If we're dealing with a DS Atton, they still hate each other, but it's because Atton is as disgusted by the idea of a droid doing his job as HK is of him. But you can expect a lot more open debate of torture tactics at the breakfast table.)
Bao-Dur
Bao-Dur and Mira: They don't have an awful lot in common, but they interact well enough. It's part because Bao-Dur is the king of the garage and Mira spends plenty of time in there, and part because Mira likes to poke people to see how they'll react (and at first, she really wants to know if the beefcake Zabrak does talk or if he just tinkers in the droid bay all day looking like a snack.) Bao-Dur's a wallflower but he can sass back with the best of them when prodded, and he's gotten involved with Mira's maintenance more than once - enough for Mira to grudgingly respect that damn, she runs a tight ship with her equipment but this guy knows what he's talking about.
Bao-Dur and Brianna: Unfortunately I can't really see these two coming together outside the field. They both keep to themselves in their spare time, and neither of them are the type to initiate conversations, so most of their talks have purely been strategy or reacting to situations as they happen. They're both pretty practical and goal-oriented people, so they don't clash. The one place these two intersect is Telos – Brianna is actually very impressed with Bao-Dur's work and considers him singularly skilled. If she expressed that, things might warm up a bit, though Bao-Dur definitely has some not-so-charitable thoughts about why a Jedi Master was sitting around stealing power from Telos's already strained grid instead of helping with the restoration efforts in any way.
Bao-Dur and Mical: They get on quite well. Bao-Dur's more of an introvert while Mical likes to strike up conversations, but they're the two most Republic-positive people on the Hawk and they're both appreciative of the other's work, which is a good foundation. Mical definitely has questions about Bao-Dur's extensive experience with Telos on his studies of worlds sickened by the Wars, which is a topic Bao-Dur has a direct interest in – he'd hoped to branch out before the Telos Project started going sour. They've had plenty of problem-solving brainstorming sessions, even if their musings in their respective fields tend to go way over the other's head. I was also gonna bring up that they both think the world of the Exile and find endless inspiration in their actions, but that's kind of true for everyone in KotOR II: The Simp Lords. Still, it's those two and Visas who are the least afraid about expressing it.
Bao-Dur and Visas: They go for a long time without crossing paths, but they've got plenty in common – they're fundamentally gentle people who struggle with feelings of despair and anger borne of PTSD, and they both appreciate solitude to center themselves without actually having a real desire to self-isolate. I could see them taking up a companionable silence one day on the Hawk while the others are off adventuring, and in time coming to meditate or simply exist together. They've both got a planet's worth of trauma on their shoulders and they could forge a strong connection if one of them ever reached out.
Bao-Dur and Canderous: Bad, bad, bad. Bao-Dur's deal is self-explanatory – he hates the Mandalorians with an all-consuming fervor, to the point where he's uncomfortable with himself, and Mandalore's presence on the ship just drags it all out into the open. And Canderous doesn't understand this, or the depths of Bao-Dur's PTSD; he sees a skilled warrior who was instrumental in his people's defeat, which he's been taught not to personally resent. So, y'know, there's nothing stopping him from dropping by and striking up a chat between two old warriors. And he figures out real quick that Bao-Dur's the type that holds a grudge, but I don't think he can really grasp just how deep it goes. In Canderous's world, if you've got a problem, you brawl it out. Bao-Dur could only begin to find common ground with a Mandalorian if he was shown some remorse, which just isn't going to happen. Now make it not just any Mandalorian but their leader, this symbol for everything he despises, who loudly intends to reunite his scattered thugs and murderers for the next great war? Yeah. It's bad.
Bao-Dur and T3-M4: They have a rocky start, since T3 really doesn't like that suggestion of a memory wipe. But Bao-Dur's not going to press if this mouthy Astromech is that opposed to it, and if I had to peg one guy on the KotOR II Hawk who sees droids as fully-fledged people, it's gonna be him every time. The Remote talks up Bao-Dur enough for T3 to trust him with some maintenance, and it leads to a gorgeous heat sink on his processors and the smoothest treads of his life. It doesn't take long for Bao-Dur to become T3's favorite, second to the Exile. T3 repeatedly rants to Bao-Dur about all the incredibly annoying and illogical things the organics on this ship get up to. Bao-Dur chuckles, agrees with everything, and never breathes a word of it to anyone else.
Bao-Dur and HK-47: HK-47 is a one-of-a-kind piece of machinery, but Bao-Dur could really do without the cutting remarks. If he has to hear 'Insincere Placation' one more time, he's kicking him out of the garage. And if it's not the disparaging comments about his skills as a mechanic, it's the frankly disturbing homicidal musings. Bao-Dur wonders if programming a droid to be this single-mindedly murderous constitutes abuse. HK, for his part, does come to respect Bao-Dur's skills, and has very good reason to fear self-proclaimed mechanics after a low-repair amnesiac Revan did unspeakable things with a hydrospanner. But his friendly musings about the laudable efficiency of the slaughter at Malachor V and the truly impressive galactic implications of all that death did not produce the enlightening discussion he'd hoped for.
Mira
Mira and Brianna: Mira first saw the Handmaiden from afar when she was stalking the Exile on Nar Shaddaa. They meet properly when Mira's poking around the ship, and okay, yeah, Mira sees why this girl fought like a dancer with that electrostaff – she spends all her time training. Like, does she even know what fun is? An intervention is necessary. In her efforts to get the Handmaiden out of her shell, Mira drags her out of the cargo hold for anything she can think of – the latest gossip on the Ebon Hawk, girl talk, drinks, blaster practice, an improvised dartboard with a picture of Kreia taped over it. Brianna really doesn't know what to do with this attention at first, and she's very put off. But Mira refuses to let her be awkward, and... even if all these customs are foreign to her, she finds she does enjoy being sought out? By the end of the game, those two are tight-knit. Mira's eventually the one who teaches Brianna how sarcasm works, something which Brianna wields with terrifying precision.
Mira and Mical: Mira's decent enough to the guy, but with a distinctly condescending flair. The Disciple is like a pet, maybe – cute, harmless, and doesn't do anything useful as far as she can tell. Well, that's not strictly true, because he's good for getting Atton to act like a ronto in heat, but she doubts the Exile keeps him on for that. They've squabbled before on missions when Mical had an issue with laying out a minefield on civilian turf (they were just flashbangs and stunners, dammit, what does he take her for?) or thought talking to a bunch of crime kingpins would work. Still, he's nice to look at if you can tune him out.
Mira and Visas: Mira tries to draw this one out of her shell, too, but with much less success. It's part because Brianna really hates Visas and Mira doesn't get their Jedi crap enough to work out whatever this spat is, so Girls' Night dies before it ever has a chance to become tradition. The other half is because Visas barely reacts to anything Mira does – she'll never refuse her company, but she seems indifferent to everything Mira tries to engage her with. It makes Mira sad, and also really uncomfortable, and she eventually gives up for fear that she's just dragging around someone who doesn't know how to say no to her. (This wasn't strictly the case. Visas is terrible at enforcing boundaries, but she generally didn't mind – just didn't really understand what was expected of her. Aimless chatter is a luxury she had to relearn. On the whole, just being on this ship that teemed with life and determination instead of draining them was often enough for her, and she spent many hours feeling and observing the others from afar.) But Mira doesn't stop watching Visas, and she's relieved when other members of the crew, and of course their fearless leader, connect with her in their own ways.
Mira and Canderous: Man, this one gets complex. Mira loves to pretend that she's over her past, and she's super not. The Mandalorians are the only family she remembered. It was screwed up on a lot of levels and she understands that better now than she did then, but... she knew who she was when she was one of them. Dreamed of being one for real someday, before Malachor ended everything. So finding the hidden enclave on Dxun stirred up a lot of mixed feelings. She keeps her distance from Canderous, but she's drawn to him anyway. It's Mandalore, a legend brought to life, of course she's curious – that's normal, right? And maybe one day he offhandedly comments that she handled something like a Mandalorian, and it means the world to her and she's not prepared for it, at all, and she tries to play it cool but ends up spilling that she halfway was one. And they swap stories for a long time after that. She doesn't take him up on his offer of returning to Dxun with him, but she feels a sense of completion, maybe closure, that it was made. Canderous obfuscates it, because no one will accuse him of going soft, but he's fond of that girl. She's got real fight in her.
Mira and T3-M4: For a while, they don't really interact, but Mira's eagle eye eventually catches that many of the inconvenient accidents on board the Hawk coincide with a little Astromech whirring by moments before disaster. Which is concerning, but also really funny, given that the usual butt of the joke is either Atton or HK-47. So she does what she does best and gets involved – either she gets a piece of the action or she's busting his operation. T3 promptly pops out eight pieces of weaponry she didn't realize a utility droid could have mounts for, wheels her over to a holoscreen, leverages her right back with the secret stash she keeps under the docking ramp panel, and recruits her wholesale. Everyone those two dislike proceeds to have a very frustrating week. She doesn't understand Binary, so they can only ever talk when T3 plugs himself in and types, but damn, Mira thought she had a mouth but that droid is sassy. Scrappy little fucker runs the ship from the shadows - she's staying on his good side.
Mira and HK-47: Mira tries very hard to pretend that HK doesn't unnerve the hell out of her. She's seen those things in action and she's not entirely convinced this one isn't a plant that's going to drill them in the back once some unknown trigger is tripped. HK-47 is deeply offended by the accusation – less that he would murder them all if he could, and more that Mira can't recognize how his abundance of personality and far more intimidating looks set him apart from his mass-produced copycats.
Brianna
Brianna and Mical: In-game, they can't ever interact, but I like to imagine that all six of the Lost Jedi come along with the Exile. These two have an awkward start – she's a soldier trained not to question while he's a historian who does nothing but. Mical has some questions about Atris that'll get Brianna's hackles up, and she'll want nothing to do with him for a while after that. But as she travels with the Exile, she'll come to realize that he's right; Atris's actions run counter to her spoken principles, and the Exile is a truer expression of the Jedi teachings despite having been cast from the Order. They'll coalesce most post-game, when Brianna sets aside her single-minded dedication to combat to become an archivist. Mical has plenty of interest in helping her with Atris's salvaged collection and disseminating the information within.
Brianna and Visas: Visas is demure and respectful – Brianna bites her head off every time she speaks up. It's a mess. Brianna's been raised with an incredibly black-and-white, fear-based set of views on the Jedi. There's no redemption for Sith in Atris's academy, only punishment and execution. The Exile skated by Atris's conditioning with their Force magnetism, and to a lesser extent, their similarities to Yusanis – Visas is not so lucky. Brianna's jealousy isn't strictly romantic in nature, though. The way I see it, it has more to do with her deep-seated feelings of abandonment and never being good enough no matter how hard she works. She thought she and the Exile were forging something special, that the Exile saw something in her that no one else had (and maybe that was even true, maybe she does have potential), and then they went off to gallivant with a Sith. She feels cheapened, replaced – maybe even scorned, if the Exile sees her the same way, as something broken and wrong to be fixed. And she can justify it to herself with what Atris taught her instead of actually confronting her own feelings. So it becomes a mantra: Visas is a Sith, she cannot be trusted, and all the time the Exile spends with her is time for her to sink her hooks into their mind.
I would like to think, on a LS run (as a mirror to what happens on a DS one), when Kreia tricks Brianna into despair and she subsequently discovers Atris's corruption, that Brianna has an epiphany – that she was watching for enemies in the wrong places, and that Atris's teachings had blinded her to what was evident in Visas's stance, if only she'd been able to accept what she saw. And by the time they band together on Malachor, they've buried the hatchet. Visas accepts this heartfelt apology readily – she never held a grudge even when Brianna was snarling at her daily. Post-game they become quite close. They understand plenty about what it means to dedicate yourself to someone out of desperation and out of inspiration, and they more than anyone else on the crew share the Exile lifting them up and setting them free. And they share their strengths – Brianna passes on her knowledge of combat now that she's ready to set it aside, and at her behest, Visas spends the time to teach her to see through the Force so that she'll never be blinded to others' hearts again.
Brianna and Canderous: Brianna's wary of Mandalore and disagrees stridently with him on philosophy – they agree on fealty and discipline, but discussing the purpose of combat has led to some raised voices and a few worried (or popcorn-crunching) eavesdroppers. But they do respect each other as fellow warriors. They've sparred a few times, even if Canderous refused to remove his raiment in a minor bit of tradition-crossroads. Canderous even lost a round or two, which he is damn impressed by but privately worries about for weeks later. He's getting old.
Brianna and T3-M4: Brianna largely ignores T3-M4. This is probably a good thing, since T3 holds a grudge from when she stole the Ebon Hawk and delivered him to Atris, where he had a very unpleasant time of things. He was not happy to see her board the ship yet again, and kept a close optic on her for a while. Eventually he decided she was unlikely to repeat offend, and she at least doesn't make a mess of the ship like some organics, but the beeps and boops he uses to address her are not especially polite ones.
Brianna and HK-47: Brianna cannot fathom why the Exile reactivated the assassin droid, and once it starts talking, she really doesn't understand why they keep it around. This is mostly because it's clearly a psychotic tool of war, the kind of single-mindedly bloodthirsty creation Atris always accused the Exile of being, and its company is... unbefitting for the hero she's come to know. But also, and she stubbornly refuses to admit this to herself, she's frustrated that the Exile thinks they need more firepower on the battlefield. Isn't she good enough for them?
Mical
Mical and Visas: They get along very well. They start interacting early on, when Visas first joins the crew and has all kinds of old untreated injuries that need tending. After the medbay visits taper off, the meditation visits start. Mical's curious about Sith philosophy and techniques and Visas is pretty much the most tailor-fitted discussion partner the galaxy could have possibly given him on those topics. Visas is dubious of Mical's own views, particularly that he clings to them when he's seen so many things that undermine them and readily admits this, but over her travels with the Exile comes to appreciate his steadfast optimism more. They're both very gentle people and Mical could do wonders in shoring up Visas's lost faith – a favor Visas pays back in full when Kreia betrays the team and leaves Mical to the horrifying realization that the Force is decaying around the Exile. She feels his distress and seeks him out, invites him to meditate together as he so often approached her, and repeats the words he always insisted upon – no matter how fraught it seems, there is always hope.
Mical and Canderous: When Mandalore joins the team, Mical's immediate concern is the Exile's mental health. Bao-Dur has clearly been doing poorly since Dxun and it's hardly a secret the Exile shares much of the same trauma. He keeps to the background and watches carefully, his own few interactions with the man being brusque and dismissive. Carth is... concerned, to say the least, when Mical reports of a new Mandalore; it gets interesting when Mical's next transmission contains some footage. Much like the player, it doesn't take Carth long to pick up on the fact that Mandalore's voice is just Canderous's through some filters. This is how poor Mical ends up as the go-between between two old frenemies, passing notes back and forth like he's stuck at the middle desk. That said, he's greatly relieved that their Mandalorian contact is on the up and up; he would not question the Exile's decisions, but did worry about what might come of them until it became clear this was all the work of the Force.
Mical and T3-M4: They first met when Mical requested to see the records of the Exile's trial. T3-M4 was wary of the request, but organics who are actually courteous to utility droids are a rarity, and Mical eventually won him over without having to fetch the Exile for proof. Once T3 finds out that Mical has connections with Carth Onasi, they're fast friends and occasional coworkers, though there's a bit of friction involved because you know Carth would have told him to fish for any information on Revan's whereabouts, and T3 can't talk, as much as he'd like to reunite his old (and new!) friends.
Mical and HK-47: Of all the unfortunate meatbags HK-47 must share the ship with, it is the Republic one who clearly has the least merit. He has tried to convince his Master why a bit of target practice is necessary to keep his assassination protocols from degrading in the monotony of hyperspace travel, but for some reason truly unparseable to his processors, he has repeatedly been denied on this front. On Mical's part, HK-47 is a firm reminder of Darth Revan's character whenever his musings about their war strategy start becoming too favorable.
Visas
Visas and Canderous: It's so wild to me that I would have never known anything was here at all, if those legends over at TSLRCM hadn't brought back all of those Visas-Canderous interactions on the Ravager. Like, Visas forcing him to keep on fighting after a gravely wounded Canderous tells them to leave him behind, that he's not useful anymore... Hello?? My girl came full circle???
I don't know how much these two coincided before the end of the game, because they are exceptionally different people. Visas tends to hang in the background, and I doubt Canderous spared the Miraluka in the aft dorm that much thought beyond “damn, they make Sith different than they used to.” But there are no words to express how Visas felt when destiny called them back to Telos and not a single one of the crew balked in the face of her Master – and nowhere did that sentiment land harder than Canderous, who mustered an army to stop a second Katarr and walked with her to face her nightmare in person. (It wasn't for a lack of will on the others' part, and I suspect many of them were strident about wanting to join. In a lot of cases, the two-party restriction comes down to game mechanics; here, it's that Nihilus would have straight-up eaten anyone else. Visas was the only Force-Sensitive he wouldn't, the Exile was the only one he couldn't.) She's well aware it wasn't a personal favor, but the reasons pale in the reality of it; she had believed nothing could stand before her Master, and together, Canderous and the Exile proved her wrong. And Canderous is forced to reassess Visas afterwards, once he's done licking his wounds and kicking himself for a lapse in resolve so bad a Sith had to haul him up and tell him to get moving. Which is where he got it wrong; a Sith she is not, but that girl's got beskar in her, especially if she survived that long as that thing's apprentice.
Visas and T3-M4: At first, T3-M4 is quite cross about being overloaded via the Force and the attempt on his new Master's life. But the immediate request of termination is... concerning, and observing the following chain of events leads T3 to suspect that she'd been given orders that went against her core motivators, something T3 is distressingly familiar with. He observes Visas for a bit longer – he developed a number of protocols regarding Sith in his formative months - but soon deems them irrelevant once he's mapped her behavioral patterns and found them quite agreeable, if perhaps more cloistered than strictly recommended.
His initial diagnostic of conflicting orders seems correct, and T3 enacts a policy of friendliness in simpatico. Whenever ship maintenance takes him towards the aft dormitory, he brings her little things like Atton's share of dessert or interesting lightsaber parts from Bao-Dur's workshop. Visas is at first convinced that the Exile has simply programmed the droid to attend to her in their doomed quest to save her, but at some point she comments on it and discovers they genuinely have no idea what she's talking about. She does not know what to do with this information, but is immensely moved by the little droid. As a being without presence in the Force, Visas sometimes has difficulty perceiving his movements; when she admitted this, T3 developed a policy of emitting a low-volume sound pattern in her presence.
Visas and HK-47: HK was very excited when a Sith joined the crew - still irritated that his Master didn't simply dispatch the assassin like any being in possession of functioning logic circuits, but hoping that perhaps this was his chance to witness and partake in some real carnage. He ends up despairing when Visas ends up just as soft as the rest of them. She even eventually retracts her statement that all life exists for the purpose of being systemically extinguished! The Exile is a truly distressing influence.
Canderous
Canderous and T3-M4: Canderous affectionately calls T3-M4 a hunk of junk. T3-M4 affectionately calls him an obsolete model propped up with bulky life support mods. The little trash can's grown a spine since he last saw him – that, and Revan clearly taught him some creative curses while they were out on the edge of space. Canderous will never admit this and will lie through his teeth if accused, but he misses the old crew dearly – now more than ever that he's back on the Ebon Hawk. Having the droids around is an old, comfortable bit of nostalgia.
Canderous and HK-47: Canderous might be the only non-Revan meatbag HK-47 actually likes. It's mutual – HK's a fine soldier and an unreal shot with a scoped rifle, even if he's looking a little worse for wear these days. HK frequently seeks out Canderous to complain about the inconsistent and highly inefficient moral codes so many of these meatbags seem to possess. “Jedi,” Canderous agrees. He'd think a bunch of war veterans, particularly the type with a history of blowing up planets, would spend a little less time plucking loth cats out of trees and take a little more initiative with the armies of people trying to kill them, but he figures you can't take the Jedi out of the Revanchist. At least they're not boring.
T3-M4
T3-M4 and HK-47: Revan's two old droids are not friends. It's like a cat and a dog (or maybe a kitten and a grizzled bobcat) fighting over their Master's affection, except their Master left for milk a while ago and the only thing left to squabble about is who was more useful. Mutual accusations of obsoletion abound. T3 is very smug that HK spent a chunk of Revan's travels deactivated while he was present all along; HK, who is incredibly pissy that he was not involved in the grand plan and the game of cover-your-tracks that followed, never fails to point out that somehow, T3 failed so immensely that Revan saw fit to dismiss them both and carry on without backup, and that he at least does not have such a blatant error in judgment on his record. Add in that T3's tenure of the ship has involved hijackings and total crew pacification by a Sith warship, an Echani saboteur, and a band of slavers, and it's wholly understandable that this new Master decided they needed a more reliable droid.
It frequently comes down to HK-47 threatening the jumped-up Astromech with termination while T3-M4 smugly dangles the metaphorical car keys in his face.
G0-T0
I'm putting the crimeball in his own category because G0-T0 has remarkably one-note relationships with everyone and there isn't enough to say. It's really simple; they don't want him around and he doesn't want to deal with them. The only one worth any note is Mira, who he has identified as a reliable agent and a potential asset when it comes to delegating side jobs. She's proven capable of bringing in targets alive, which is a directive he's had some trouble with in the past. Mira's wary of having a major Exchange boss a few doors down from where she lays her head, but less on principle and more that she'll get caught in some conflicting-employers spat. And she wouldn't say no to some credits as long as the job didn't go against her sensibilities.
There's another exception with HK-47, because some of the restored content implies he and G0-T0 had a history – but personally I do not know what to make of this, because their timelines do not line up and it doesn't come up later, leaving me to think it was a dropped plotline like Kreia zapping T3 or Kaevee and the holocrons. I'd like to do something with this, but there isn't enough for me to go on. About as much as I can say is that HK-47 is quite cross at this comically rotund intruder for bobbing onto his base of operations and attempting to dictate orders when any being in possession of optics can tell his Master is clearly the one in charge, and for not having the decency to invade his ship without a fail-deadly detonator baked into his circuitry. But really, anyone who had employed so many of his sub-standard clones and established the galactic reputation of HK units as bounty hunters was going to fall pretty hard on HK-47's shitlist.
Bao-Dur has strongly considered 'accidentally' damaging some vital components when G0-T0 seeks him out for maintenance. The Remote is a very enthusiastic ball-shaped devil on his shoulder.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on Hanharr since I've never played with him, even on the one time I forced myself into a Dark Side run. But the vibe I get is pretty similar to the above; nearly all of the crew would stay well away, with HK being the only one actually enthused at the prospect of having him around. But I don't know Hanharr well enough to tell if that could even be mutual or if he's just furious with everything.

She/her. After the movie. Thank you 😊
Schmidt Christmas Headcannons // schmidt!reader
**not a ship**
Tumblr media
Summary: christmas with the schmidts
Warnings: like 1 curse word, but I think that's it
Age: 14
A/N: this is my first time trying headcannons so sorry if this sucks
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
>Christmas was always a great time of year
>especially in the schmidt family
>Mike would ALWAYS have something planned
>whether it was just sitting in a park
>or going to an amusement park (abby finally ate her dinner)
>he would always take you and Abby to see Santa at the mall
>and get ice cream ofc
>abby tried the "rainbow explosion" flavor
>which she indeed went crazy for 🤭
>you also opened one present on the night before christmas
>it was usually a small gift to sooth your excitement somehow like a necklace or pajamas to wear for the morning
>but it put the biggest smiles on your faces seeing them open the small boxes
>these little traditions was what made Christmas your favorite holiday
>you also watched "polar express" on Christmas eve while drinking hot cocoa before bed
Because my family does and cause I said so lol
>you all worked together on making the biggest snowman in the neighborhood on the front lawn
>this tradition ALWAYS caused arguments
"No your not doing it right"
"Abby no you cant use your bed sheet as a scarf"
"Abby, y/n get the biggest rocks and sticks you can find"
"Y/n i said a big stick not i fcking tree branch"
"This might even be bigger then last year! And the year before that! And the year before that! And the year before that!"
"Do you think its legal to use the neighbors oak tree as the left arm?"
"Im coollddd!"
"I cant feel my legs!"
"Have you ever wanted to stab someone with an icicle?"
*y/n chasing after abby with an icicle*
>and so on....
>you and Abby would always use Mike as your portable heater
>image after the whole snowman situation going inside to watch home alone and snuggle up against Mike to warm up
>he'd have his arms around both of you
>your heads resting on his shoulder or chest
>and obviously getting Vanessa a gift
>Mike getting her a hootie that he had soaked in his cologne for it to smell like him
I ship them so hard bro
>on the morning of Christmas abby and you would wake up as early as possible
>like 5 am kinda early
>you would both jump on him to wake him up
>but before you and Abby even looked at the presents, or the tree, or the half eaten cookies, you'd both immediately search for the elf on the shelf
>that abby and you named gingerbread
>watching you and Abby rip open your presents was literally Mike's favorite part
>seeing the joy on your faces
>you, abby, Mike, and Vanessa, would definitely have an ugly sweater competition
>you and Abby most definitely acted like spies when it came to Mike's presents
>at the end of the day before bed, you'd both lock each other in the bathroom so Mike couldn't hear your secret meeting
>he heard all of it
>it was either the fact that neither of you had a "whispering voice" or because he was sitting at the door with his ear pressed against it like a little kid
>but christmas was always a great time for all of you
>at dinner, you would all hold hands and say grace, including Vanessa
>this reminded Mike of his life before Garrett was taken
>which always ended up in him holding back tears and you and Abby secretly comforting him under the table or squeezing his hand or something
>he didn't wanna cry in front of his girl
>you'd all have a little town-drife-thru-to-find-christmas-lights-on-peoples-houses session
>once you were all home you'd cuddle and watching one last Christmas movie before bed

Aliens and Human Relationships pt 3 :D
More romantic, platonic, and familial between aliens and humans
Romantic Relationships
-Some aliens have very Rube Goldberg styles of courting while others are very straight forward
-blush appears on mammilain species but not on reptilian or avian, but that doe snot mean those species do not blush, they just hsow it differently
-i have a feeling that nearly all aliens can be embarrassed easily, so when a human flirts, its great
-meeting the parents could be very weird for alien species simply because either a) everyone knows each other or b) no one cares who you date in space
-ALIEN SO'S BEING PROTECTIVE
-on the above thought, humans have all sorts of social issues so if a human had an alien s.o, i headcanon they would be very protective
-small human, tall alien or vice versa
-the tension between very short humans and very tall humans confuse most aliens until it happens to them, then its "oh"
-some aliens are like cats which means courting gifts are like enemies heads or some sort of trophy
-polyamory is normal in some species and it is completely normal to have 2+ partners
-a lot of children that have both human and alien genes but how they appear can vary due to how strong the genetics are.
-humanoids can mate with each other but not more avaian or reptiallian or even very aquatic species. So those who cannot mate will adopt
Familial Relantionships
-Children are able to speak more than 3 languages, 2 being their parents original language and one which could be galactic basic or something. English is spoken within the galaxy but is not the main language
-children learning acceptance of differences from a very young age where that's skin colour, heritage, accents, sexuality, gender etc
-very mixed families, for example - alien+alien+human (parents) with alien/human mix and full human children or human+alien with 6 adopted or foster kids. Heterosexual, Homosexual, Bisexual, polyamorous, and so on couples and families exist.
-parents have either wallets filled with pictures or at least 3 full albums full of photos that they pull out to embarrass their kids
-found family is very common. ( idk if i mentioned this already)
-Child services are very effective on some planets but on others are crap
-children who are orphans sometimes have people who help them and create safe spaces for them
-mental health issues are treated seriously in a lot of families because it is important for the members to be healthy
Platonic Relationships
-Aliens bonding over their love for their human friends/colleagues/kids/SO
-give me a human showing an alien a meme and the alien doing what all the dads do when you show them something
-t-shirts that are " this is my alien -- >" "< --this is my human"
-aliens being mildly terrified of their human friends
-on the above headcanon, humans have the whole deathworlders and also having the damage predictability of an iphone
-humans are also like cats for example
-an alien historian specialising in human history shows a video recorded from WW1 and the humans in that room immediately zoom in on the explosions
-we like to push stuff, so aliens have learnt to stick everything down on surfaces but the problem is that humans are incredibly stubborn
-humans just doing batshit crazy stunts like jumping from roof to roof like cats do
-humans are also dogs
-humans can be very aggressive if taught to be from a young age
-humans are loyal to thier friends and family and will protect them at any cost if danger is nearby
-humans also love affection and attention and it is quite common of seeing them showing these acts to friends or demanding it

Hello!
I've got an interview coming up for a pretty top Uni and I put angels before man as a possible book that I would be open to discuss.
I was just wondering about your thoughts on the themes of your book, especially the implementing of homoeroticness and the sympathetic stance for a widely condemned character.
Hello!!! Good luck with the interview!!! I hope it goes well and u get into whatever school is the one of your dreams :') I'm honored u named ABM. It's hard to talk about themes without rambling forever so I'll try to ramble just about what you specifically asked about:
On implementing homoeroticism — I think it was important, for me, to inject queerness into the story itself.
It's not a "queer retelling" just because a boy-ish character likes another boy-ish character (Lucifer and Michael don't even identify as men! They're angels!). ABM had to be a queer retelling in the way it told its story (not keeping to a conventional act structure), queer in its world (the angels are all So Flamboyant and Gay), and queer in the coming of age portion (Lucifer grows up feeling Different, feeling embarrassed, having the moment of Sexual Awakening from Seeing Other Boys in the Locker Room and the moment of Falling In Love with the Handsome Macho at the Sports Game, and Lucifer loves singing and dancing and is emotional and feminine; he's queer in a way beyond his attraction to Michael).
Making the homoeroticism so normative meant gushing about how handsome the angels are, about sexualizing them. It also meant using flowery language to sexualize them, to be tender about it. The angels aren't men but they're almost men, and men are usually denied flowery, tender sexualization. I wanted to approach it that way.
And now about making a condemned character sympathetic — I think you can either turn a condemned character into a complete victim (usually by taking their agency away) or make them... complicated. I wanted my take on Lucifer to be the second option for one big reason: the Bible is so strict in being Good vs Evil with no gray, so I wanted to make it gray. If I made Satan just the good guy and God just the bad guy, then I would be falling into that same problematic moral dichotomy of the Bible.
So Lucifer is complicated. He's the victim, but he hurts innocent angels. Phanuel didn't deserve that. Dina didn't deserve that. Baal didn't deserve to be manipulated either. Lucifer was also never really perfect; he was always a bit self-absorbed, and he's always been too quick to get emotional.
But I think positioning the devil as an "imperfect victim" is important too. Victims who lash out in ways seen as "unacceptable" are so often demonized, especially SA victims (which Lucifer is). Lucifer's explosion at the end of ABM was about catharsis, not about revenge, and it's not meant to be pretty (God already made his suffering pretty, made Lucifer cry flowers) or forgivable.
You're not supposed to forgive Lucifer; he doesn't want your forgiveness!
Forgiveness. I think a lot of readers think providing a sympathetic stance for a widely condemned character is about asking the audience to forgive them. Maybe for some authors, that's true, but John Milton, for example, never intended for you to forgive Satan. Recently, the Hunger Games prequel came out, which served as President Snow's "villain origin story" — anyone who read the book or watched the movie knows that Snow isn't forgivable in that. Milton and Suzanne Collins were just... trying to explain them, trying to provide a little nuance.
I think the question of forgiveness is really important when it comes to the devil. The Bible is centered around forgiveness, a lot of Christians ask why God doesn't forgive Satan or why Satan won't accept God's forgiveness.
In ABM, Lucifer begs for forgiveness from God over and over throughout the book. The chapter he meets him, Lucifer crumbles to the ground and says, “Father, Father, be merciful, please have pity on me, please forgive me.” He doesn't even know what he did, but he's sorry, and he's sorry and sorry and sorry until the end. There's this line from the revision that puts it nicely, I think:
'Heaven will despise me. No one can ever love me again.’ “I’ve done the unforgivable.” Lucifer had become the unforgivable. But he was breathing easier, though he didn’t realize it yet; he had unshackled himself from the pity of angels. From the promise of salvation, he had been liberated.
It's always been important to me for Lucifer to become unforgivable in the end, not just for God but for majority of readers. He frees himself from pity (of the angels and of the readers) and from being a "good" victim, from being good. The first to free himself from the moral constraints of wanting to be good — that's really what makes him the devil.
I hope this ramble is helpful :') good luck!!!

if there was a saiki k x proseka crossover, i think these would be the units.
some characters do not have comparisons; and before i dive in, i would like to tell you why. there are simply not enough characters in the disastrous life of saiki k. you may think, "but there are most definitely over twenty characters," and while you would be correct, i am only using pk academy students, and furthermore, virtually only main characters. i highly encourage you to enjoy thinking of either your ocs or the proseka characters being in the group, because i am very aware that without these characters, the story would not be possible!
there were three tdlosk characters i wanted to include, but could not. these are mera, hairo, and arisu. i just couldn't make them fit anywhere, i apologize. i felt like untrained reverse-hermit mizuki every time i had to type out that no character could fit properly into a slot.
be warned, i go on paragraph-long rants in here. like, almost an essay about teruhashi. actually, my vbs rant is very long overall, composed of like two essays. enjoy!
L/N; Nendou(Ichika), Chiyo(Honami), Reita(Saki), and Saiko(Shiho). Most of these are the OGs, and I could see them doing a school band. Don't ask why I thought Saiko belonged here, I hink he would be cute in a school band setting. Or maybe I'm biased. And I think Nendou would play the role of "getting the group back together," and if that makes Nendou play Ichika, so be it. Reita would play the role of "sickly little guy," and also the one ti set everything in motion, so that makes him the Saki of the group! I think Chiyo as Honami explains itself, but it's mostly because I think of Chiyo as having sweetheart/caretaker vibes. Saiko as Shiho, however, seems like an odd comparison. To simplify down so that I'm not blubbering about it nonsensically, they are both relatively tsundere, and while they do want a friend group, they tend to act like they don't need or want it.
MMJ; Suzumiya(Minori) and Makoto(Shizuku). Nobody could possibly fit into the role of Airi or Haruka, and sadly, they both had to be forcefully excluded, and I apologize. Now, onto the hard conclusions I drew and stretching I did. Fair warning, MORE MORE JUMP! is my least favorite unit. I haven't read its main story, and I know next to nothing about the members. However, from what I can tell, Minori, while clumsy and unlucky, has the spirit to do great things. That, I would compare to Suzumiya after her guardian spirit is rehabilitated. While not setting of explosions every other minute, she's still naturally clumsy, and she also has rather high spirits despite that. Makoto as Shizuku was a hard task to pull off, and I feel it may be a disgrace to Shizuku's name. However, considering that Makoto is famous within the TDLOSK-universe, I couldn't not put him in MMJ. His placement as Shizuku was only because I view Makoto as relatively tech-illiterate, so that headcanon of mine allowed me to draw at least one connection. I apologize for the weak conclusion.
VBS; Satou(Kohane), Kuboyasu(Akito), and Kokomi(Touya). Sadly, I couldn't think of anyone to compare to An, I apologize. Teruhashi as Touya explains itself, but I think I should explain why I chose it over Teruhashi as Mafuyu. The reason is; Teruhashi would start singing street music out of spite for her brother, like Touya and his father. As far as I have learned in proseka, while Mafuyu did do lyrics as a method of rebelling from her mother, that wasn't the only reason. While Touya did ENJOY singing, it wasn't something he was set on doing until the end of the main story. With Mafuyu, she already wrote music before meeting Kanade and the others, and still made music outside of Nightcord at 25:00, and it was one thing sje was sure she enjoyed. Teruhashi doesn't seem like the type to be set on something unless she was made to realize she enjoyed that thing seriously, and not just as a method of rebelling. In the show, she, sadly, doesn't do much outside of what she thinks will make her seem like the perfect pretty girl, most exemplified when she goes for ramen with Nendou, Kaidou, and Saiki, and even though it's disgusting, she thinks that not eating it makes her stuck-up. I relate this more to Touya, instead of Mafuyu, because the one person she doesn't act in front of is Makoto. Mafuyu still acts like she is very in-line with her mother's views most of the time, as exemplified by the fact that even when Mafuyu's mother upsets her, she usually holds her tongue. On the contrary, Touya is shown to correct his father, and show his anger to him, such as when, in the VBS main story, his father states "And to think it was from just one bad influence," to which Touya retorts to "leave Akito out of this," because it wasn't Akito's fault he rebelled. Teruhashi is shown to correct and yell at Makoto when he pisses her off, which lead me to connect her to Touya. Moving on from that, I should explain some if my other examples. Satou as Kohane is a strange one, I know, but it works out in my head. Satou is very ordinary, and that is how he views himself. He has plain ambitions, plain interests, and plain hobbies, much like how I would describe pre-Vivids Kohane. This is including the mild social awkwardness. Satou is shown to be a perfect ambivert, knowing how to navigate a social situation, but not typically starting his own conversations. Even before meeting An, while Kohane did have friends, such as Minori, and she could have full conversations with those friends, she has not, to my knowledge, been shown to have started many conversations before she and An started the Vivids. Satou is shown to have only three friends, as far as I can remember, and never does he start a conversation with them, it's always the friends that start the conversations. I feel like if Satou explored hobbies outside of the regular, he, much like Kohane, would find something that brought him confidence and that he enjoyed doing. Kuboyasu and Akito are relatively self-explanatory, but there is some explaining to be done. Kuboyasu, much like Akito, is self-conscious reguarding how he appears to others, and is VERY focused on getting to what he wants, and where he wants to be in his life. In the same way that Akito wants to surpass RAD WEEKEND, Kuboyasu wants to be a normal highschool boy.
WxS; Kaidou(Tsukasa) and Kuusuke(Rui). A strange duo, I know. HOWEVER. Kaidou has an intense need for attention, making him a perfect candidate to be the equivalent of Tsukasa. Kuusuke as Rui explains itself. I sincerely apologize for having two blank spaces in a unit again, but nobody fully fit.
N25; Saiki(Kanade), Akechi(Mafuyu), Aiura(Ena), and Imu(Mizuki). I feel like I'm vaguely insulting Mizuki by comparing them to Rifuta, but simplifying a character's personality is NOT below me. I think I should start with the weakest connection, that being Akechi as Mafuyu. I chose this over Akechi as Emu, and honestly, I'm not sure that was a good decision. The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason, I chose to compare Akechi to Mafuyu, was because I view Akechi as having had a bad and possibly abusive relationship with his father. It could be me taking a comedy show too seriously, and I won't go too in-depth about the headcanon, because it's not currently important. But anyways, moving on. Saiki as Kanade is very self explanatory, given how they both have wished on multiple occasions to "disappear" or "sleep forever." It's also about Saiki's guilty conscience, relating to Kanade blaming herself for her father's coma. Aiura and Imu as Ena and Mizuki respectively are both very self explanatory.
Please tell me if you have other ideas!!!

First Day, Previous Day, & Next Day
Day 4: Fireworks
The pencil scratched across the paper as you carefully sketched. You didn't have many hobbies nor the time to actually practice them, but now that you were trapped in the Underground, you suddenly had more time than you knew what to do with. So to amuse yourself a little, you'd taken to sketching out a few of the small monsters you'd remembered encountering so far.
In the Ruins you'd seen a frog like creature that was about the size of an English bulldog, a small ghost with wings, a monster with a large eye, a beetle like monster, and even a little yellow flower. While these Monsters had all tried to attack you and Frisk, you'd managed to resolve the conflicts peacefully rather than having to fight back.
You hadn't seen very many other Monsters in the forest, especially while you had been close to either of the brothers, but you had spotted a couple of owl like birds with a snowflake pattern on their faces. There had also been some monsters that looked like snowmen with ice hats and one that reminded you of a deer, although it had a rather terrifying face.
You'd sketched out a couple of Monsters by now and while you weren't an amazing artist, you felt slightly proud at how good they'd turned out. While you would love to have a couple of coloured pencils, you had to be content with leaving the sketches as grayscale and focus more on shading.
"What Are You Doing?" Papyrus asked as he entered the kitchen and began rummaging around in one of the cupboards.
"Drawing," you answered, still focused on getting the details of a Snowdrake just right. "It's been a while since I did."
Papyrus hummed quietly. "You Like Drawing Then?"
You paused and examined the half dozen little monsters on the paper. "Yeah, I do. I just, I like the feeling of accomplishment from making something." You chuckled and added, "Especially if they're cute."
You went back to shading a few more details, barely noticing the silence that had settled between you two. As your pencil continued to scratch away at the paper, the moments stretched on.
"You Are Cute."
Papyrus had spoken quietly and yet you were focusing so much that he actually startled you. Nearly jumping out of your socks, you accidentally pressed too hard on the paper with your pencil and broke the lead.
You stared at your sketch for a moment, barely registering how you'd nearly ruined it. While your brain rebooted, your tongue acted on its own and resorted to your go to defense mechanism for awkward situations - dry sarcasm.
"No, you're cute," you muttered.
You instantly wanted to fall through the floor and die. Rather than diffuse the situation, you'd basically just lit a fuse that would spell certain disaster. Why did you always have to make things worse and have them blow up in your face?
Papyrus planted his hands on the table to your left, practically leveling you with the intensity of his gaze. After a moment though, he grinned and his scarlet eyelights seemed to flicker dangerously.
"Hardly, You Are Adorable," he said with a slight chuckle.
So much for an immediate explosion. If he was going to play with fire, you weren't going to be the one caught holding the match.
"I know you are, but what am I?" you retorted teasingly.
Papyrus didn't seem to be expecting you to be willing to throw down so quickly and you could almost see the gears turning in his skull as he tried to think up another comeback. A moment later, he leaned closer to you and spoke in a much lower tone, almost akin to a growl. "I Ought To Turn You In For The Crime Of Being A Heart Stealer..."
Your cheeks were starting to burn. He was good at this...either that or you were weak to his charms. Maybe even both...?
"Well, are you a parking ticket? Because you've got fine written all over you..." you murmured.
You really weren't good at being charming, but by the dusting of scarlet across Papyrus' cheekbones, it had been effective enough. He narrowed his eye sockets and stared at you. Not willing to back down and give him the satisfaction of winning, you stared back at him defiantly.
"You Are A Real Spitfire..." he whispered, finally breaking the silence.
"And you're actually a scoundrel, aren't you?"
Papyrus moved closer until he was only a few inches from your face. "Oh Yes," he purred. "But I Think You Like That... Or Am I Wrong?"
"I..." you couldn't seem to form a proper response and trailed off. Your brain must've finally caught up and the reality of what was happening had finally fully set in.
Papyrus was actively flirting with you and, like an idiot, you'd only added more fuel to the once tiny sparks. The figurative fuse had been lit long ago and now the firecracker was just about to explode.
You glanced away as an uninvited thought forced its way to the front of your mind. You...liked this. You liked him. You liked the attention he gave you too.
"Papyrus..." you murmured quietly and made yourself look at him again.
He gazed calmly back and for a moment, you were struck speechless once again. Your tongue felt heavy and your heart was thumping much faster than what was considered normal.
He finally broke and had to look away from you, covering his face with one hand as he did so. You immediately noticed that his blush had significantly darkened, even though he was clearly trying to hide it.
Papyrus softly swore under his breath and ran his hand down his face. "Rihanna...Do You...?" he started to ask.
You tilted your head questioningly. While you weren't sure exactly what he was trying to say, you had a small inkling about what it could be.
He swore again. "I Think... I Might Actually Like You..." he finished.
Your eyes went wide with shock. "I... I don't know... I might...like you too, Papyrus..." you whispered.
The fireworks had finally gone off.

Romantic HC for Reaper!!
Reaper Fluff Headcanons
Reaper/Gabriel Reyes x Reader
—————
Alright! It’s been a while since I’ve written for Overwatch characters so bare with me! It wasn’t specified what part of Gabe’s little timeline to do so I'm going to try a little bit of both Blackwatch and Talon era. I hope you enjoy this my beautiful requester of mine!
—————
Blackwatch/Gabriel Reyes
Okay, to start off, I picture Gabriel to be a lot more verbally affectionate with his lover than he would be as Reaper though I think that this is agreeable from nearly every point of view.
His favorite thing to do when waking up to start the day is tell you how much he loves you as you awaken as well. And if you’re already awake, it’ll be the first thing he says the moment he lays eyes on you.
Whispering sweet nothings to you when its just the two of you alone is a fun little hobby he’s picked up (bonus points if it pulls a blush from you). This goes for any occasion, including when you two are having a sweet moment together, having a more intimate moment together, or when you need to be cheered up in anyway.
That being said, this doesn’t exclude physical love as well, seeing as this is his personal favorite way to show affection.
It’s actually his go to way of showing he’s sorry if an argument occurs of if a recent risky mission had scared you and made you worry for his safety.
Gabriel is a big dude, so carrying you or just holding you to his frame isn’t a problem for him. Most of the time, you don’t mind it either. Being in his hold makes you feel safe.
Whenever you two cuddle, Gabe is always the big spoon. This is mostly cause his height and build make it almost impossible to be the little spoon for him. As stated before, you do not mind. Being so close in such a secure hold makes it easy for you to fall asleep snuggled against his chest in complete comfort.
Gabe is more likely to do and/or say something more cheesy in your relationship around this time and before his Blackwatch days if you have been together that long. Something like the arm around the shoulders as part of a stretch and a yawn act, kissing you in the rain when you get caught in it on the way back from taking a stroll around town, and other cheesy things you see in movies like that. Yes, this includes cheesy pickup lines and puns.
Talon/Reaper
Gabe is definitely more reserved after the explosion than he was before it. This mostly stems from the experiments that Moira had done on him and what he had become as a result of them. He doesn’t want to scare you or hurt you. You’re the last thing he has that is oh so precious to him.
To say the least, it takes a hell of a lot of reassurance to convince him to open up to you and show how he really feels.
He’s rarely verbal to you when it comes to affection. Physical affection takes full affect here. You’ll have to notice the little things a lot more than you usually would have in order to realize he is showing his love. This ranges from small touches and remembering to do little things for you each morning to gentle embraces when the two of you are alone.
He’s usually up and gone for his ‘work’ before you wake up, but he always makes sure certain things are done for you so you don’t have to bother with them when you finally awaken. Things like having the morning coffee ready and leaving little non-written reminders in certain places. For example, if you have an appointment that day, he’ll place whatever you usually write your events (like a booklet or calendar) on the counter top for you to see whenever you get coffee that morning.
Unless you’re in Talon already, he does his best to keep you separate from his work entirely. This pairs up with not wanting you to get hurt. You’re all that he has left in his miserable existence and he doesn’t plan on loosing you so soon.
If you are in Talon, he keeps a close eye on you at almost all times. This especially applies if you are on a mission together. You are the only thing he’d ever put above an operation if need be.
If you are ever harmed during a mission, he is usually the one to patch up your wounds in private. Yes, it would be more efficient if Moira or whatever other healer on their team patches you up, but he prefers to be the one to do it as a simple way to spend more time with you. Not that he’d ever admit that to anyone else except for you.
If you were apart of Overwatch/are currently apart of Overwatch, things would be a bit iffy for him in the beginning. What if you were just getting close to him to bring him in? Reassurance is needed here once again and a lot of it.
He would show up to kill you after trying to convince himself that you are trying to deceive him and that he needed to kill all members of Overwatch as originally planned, but wouldn’t be able to pull the trigger when he got face to face. He curses himself for the feelings he felt for you in that moment but he never regrets it to this day when he holds you close as the two of you fall asleep.

Aaand done! I stayed up at almost 11pm to write these while listening to 80s and 90s songs💃✨ Enjoy!

enjoy these two idiots being idiots :)
“You think this is easy for me?”
Dazai rolls his eyes. “Is that what I said?”
Chuuya’s rage goes from simmering to explosive in an instant, runic red lines climbing like vines up the skin of his arms as he breathes with purposeful rhythm in an attempt to suppress it.
“You’re sure as hell acting like it.”
Dazai scoffs. He doesn’t look up at Chuuya, knowing there’s nothing that’ll sting worse for him than cold dismissal.
“I’m acting like your life isn’t difficult? Do you hear yourself?”
“Oh, I hear myself perfectly fine. I think you’re the one having trouble comprehending the shit you’re saying.”
“Am I?” Dazai asks with a brow lifted in mock curiosity.
“I should’ve known you couldn’t even argue like a normal person,” Chuuya says with a cruelty he can’t have learned from anyone but Dazai. “I guess it’s my fault, expecting Mori’s puppet to act like a human being.”
Dazai glares at him. Chuuya’s face splits with a twisted grin.
“Oh, now he’s mad,” he sneers. “What? Don’t like being faced with the fact that you’re nothing but an obedient little errand boy for the very man you claim to despise?”
“Shut up.”
But Chuuya isn’t one to follow orders. No. He swiftly invades Dazai’s space, their faces inches apart as one word after another leaves him doused in mockery.
“You don’t get to run me into the ground and then expect me to lean up for a kiss. You want care? You want me to be kind and gentle? Earn it,” he hisses. “But if you wanna act like you don’t care about anything and me bending myself over backwards for you means nothing, I’m more than happy to play along.”
“Shut up.”
Chuuya’s rage is horrifying when paired with a smile.
“No, I don’t think I will. See, what I wanna do is get you to step down from your pedestal for five minutes and realize your dismissal of other people doesn’t make them stop existing. You can pretend I don’t have feelings. You can pretend I’ve never stood on a ledge and been one vile thought away from taking the plunge. Be my guest. Drown in your misery and I’ll take mine somewhere else if that’s more convenient. But don’t try to convince me that your twisted little fantasy world is somehow more real than mine.”
“Did anyone ever tell you that you talk too much?” Dazai bristles.
 “Better than never saying anything.”
“Is it that I never say anything, or that you never actually listen to me?”
“You’re the one who doesn’t listen!” Chuuya shouts, verging on desperation. “Do you ever actually take into account anything I say? Anything I feel? Does any of it matter to you?”
He pauses, his next breath rattling out of him.
“Do I matter to you?”
“Nothing matters to me,” Dazai says, his own anger quickly dissolved by the resignation which settles in Chuuya’s eyes, making them appear dull. He only wishes their roles could have been reversed, that this time spent together could have made him more like Chuuya and not the other way around. But Dazai’s dejection seems to be contagious. He’s seen it in Oda’s eyes, sees it in Chuuya’s now. He wonders if he’ll let anyone close enough to be infected by this curse ever again.
A door slams to signify an ending.
The rest of the night is spent in a lonesome routine.
Dazai closes all his blinds and curtains before shedding only his coat. He crawls into bed, head falling heavily onto the pillow.
His hand tugs absently at the bandages around his neck as he drifts off slowly, swaying thoughtless in the realm between wakefulness and sleep.
The unbreakable darkness that surrounds him isn’t the same one he feels hunting him when he spends too long staring at the city at night, when he’s on the other side of a window, bathed safely in light.
That darkness is one he fears he’s made angry, a darkness watching, licking its teeth until it drags him back into its clutches.
The dark in his room is a different creature.
Through it he can see nothing and therefore, like a child, he believes nothing can see him either.
What’s invisible doesn’t exist.
He falls asleep pretending to die.
