The way you suddenly snapped into awareness without realizing you drifted off at all was something akin to having a bucket of ice-cold water thrown into your face.

You... dozed off in class again. In hindsight, it was inevitable – the last time you got hours of sleep instead of something in-between nothing at all and a 2-hour-nap was last Saturday. You've been running on nothing but bitter, cheap coffee and sheer spite for almost a week now, it was high time you finally crashed.

Still, you should have woken up at Uni. You should have woken up to your professor huffing and puffing and glowering in your face about your terrible conduct, about how your generation had no respect for his generation, about how such a complicated and beautiful science like Robotics was not a place for slackers like you (which, fair, you had no idea what you were doing in Robotics either), not... alone and certaintly not in the middle of a forest.

You ran through a bunch of scenarios quickly, but none stuck.

Kidnapping? Far-fetched at best. You lived alone, only barely making ends meet by running yourself into the ground as you tried to marry working retail with being a full-time student, so ransom was out of the question and being kidnapped for the sake of doing bad things to you... Why bother? You didn't know anyone nearly well enough to be kidnapped due to personal feelings and you were neither good-looking enough (perpetually tired goblin that you were) nor famous-, connected- or skilled enough to be kidnapped randomly.

Besides, you were at the University, on the 5th floor, in the middle of the city that had no forests for miles! You were surrounded by 20-odd other people, there was no way someone would be able to kidnap you with so many witnesses around.

So, not kidnapping.

Dream then?

Also unlikely. Your dreams were few and far-between and when they did happen, it was either you being surrounded by characters from the show you happened to be fixated on at the time or it was you getting repeatedly chased and swallowed whole by a dinosaur on a loop, until the dream finally ended (probably Jurasic Park childhood trauma, now that you thought about it).

Still.

This was so weird, because you knew for a fact you were much too aware of everything to be dreaming and yet the things you saw didn't makes sense at all!

You didn't have any arms for one!

And your body was purple!

You could feel electricity zapping at your body and it didn't hurt, it was more like being swallowed in a blanket burrito and nursing a comforting mug of hot chocolate, while watching your favourite show with no worry for deadlines or money!

You weren't supposed to feel like that, you were supposed to be tired and grumpy and irritable and not nice and not toasty and certaintly not so comfortable!

Drugs? Hallucinations? You never partaked, you didn't drink alcohol either, so that was a no—

—A purple crystal you were under zapped at you again and you positively melted on the spot, basking in the feeling and letting the troublesome train of thought go like the wind, before it inevitably derailed and caused you undue anxiety as it always did.

...it was very nice actually.

Maybe losing opposable thumbs wasn't so bad if you got this in exchange.

Ok, but listen (and welcome back to another crazy analysis that I came up with out of nowhere because I had a lot of free time)

The Ishtar as representations of the Egyptian gods.

Bastet's mission was to protect the home and symbolizes the joy of living, as she is considered the deity of harmony and happiness. She is the personification of the warm rays of the Sun, she is the representation of femininity and elegance.

Marik was supposed to be the leader of the clan and protect it, but he wanted to be happy and be out of the tombs, he wanted to live, he wanted to be under the sun's rays, plus his hair is blonde, a color associated with the sun, He is handsome, he is masculine and elegant.

Plus his eyes look like cats' eyes if you ask me, with his outlined like the stripes of tabby cats.

But he was traumatized and filled with anger and wanted revenge, so he created Yami Marik.

She was a symbol of strength and power. She was considered the goddess of war and revenge, but also the goddess of healing, she was the protector of the pharaohs and guided them in war.

In some cases she was considered an ally and protector of Ra, since she killed those who dared to confront or attack the divine or earthly monarchy.

She had an insatiable bloodlust, to such a degree that she did not distinguish between allies or enemies.

Like YamiMa, he is powerful, the representation of Marik's fight and revenge, he protected Marik from everything that could harm him to keep him safe, he caused death/coma to those who stood in the way of Marik's wishes (Jounouichi , Mai, Rishid, his father).

Plus we've all seen the thousands of references to YamiMa's hair to a lion's mane and both YamiMa and Sekhmet have many names.

And YamiMa only calmed down when he saw Rishid.

She represented music, dance, joy, love, sexuality and maternal care, and acted as consort to various male deities and mother to their children. These two aspects of the goddess exemplified the Egyptian conception of femininity. She served as a wet nurse for the king and his court, and in this way she fed all the people of Egypt since the prosperity of the country was closely linked to the health, well-being and stability of the king.

She was part of the divine entourage that accompanied Ra as he sailed through the sky in his boat.

Rishid was a fundamental part of Marik's upbringing, he was like a father to him, replacing the biological father as a wet nurse, he wanted Marik's happiness, he loved him like a brother and took care of him like a father, he took the punishment when Marik and Ishizu came out of the tombs, and he wanted to take Marik's place in the ritual to avoid the pain and trauma it would cause him.

He was also part of the Ghouls to continue with Marik, after leaving the tombs, we can assume that he was the one who was in charge of maintaining his mental and physical health.

But his role as a father was also slightly overshadowed by Ishizu.

She is typically depicted as the generous and selfless mother, wife, and protector who puts the interests and well-being of others before her own. She was considered the divine mother of the pharaoh, who was identified with the god Horus. She as well as the most powerful sorceress Egypt ever saw. With this power she managed to save her son Horus, but she also became the patron goddess of people who practiced magic.

Ishizu is the selfless mother who fulfills the role assigned to her, fulfilling her duty to the pharaoh was important and almost a priority, however when it came to her brothers, mainly Marik, she did not mind leaving her duty relegated in favor of hera brother's well-being.

Just like Isis, she sought help from humanity (Yugi and company) to unite the pieces of her brother and return him to normal.

She is feminine, selfless, protective, maternal, she took care of Marik when they were children, stopping living her own childhood so that Marik could be happy, she helped him see what it was like outside the tombs because that is what he wanted to do.

Furthermore it is quite clear that she is Isis when we remember that her past life in ancient Egypt was called that.

I’ll join you on the list of Tommy Miller and Abby Anderson defenders because they’re going to get a lot of stick in season 2/3 and they don’t deserve it!

I like to think that Tommy haters are the typical only child in their families and Abby haters don't love their dads because there is no way in hell you cannot understand why they did what they did.

Like with Abby, I get holding some sort of resentment bc she killed your favourite character (tho not understanding why is crazy to me, but I get not liking her bc of it).

But Tommy?!? He did NOTHING wrong.

Yall act like Ellie had every right for revenge, but Tommy didn't? Tommy had even more. His older brother was killed in front of him, a man he had known his entire life, looked up to, shared a childhood/adulthood with, the only family he had left, suffered from a head injury, felt so hopeless because he couldn't protect him the same way Joel had his whole life as people held him back and made him watch. Like bffr.

Ellie was unhappy with Dina and their facade of a happy family because of what happened, and she would've continued to be miserable. Tommy had every right to let her know where Abby was. He didn't ruin their family cause it was ruined the second Joel died the way he did, and everyone knew it deep down.

So don't act like Tommy is the "bad guy" in a love story that was gonna fail because of Ellie's need for justice and closure. For both Tommy and Ellie, Joel meant the most. It's disappointing to see people ignoring Tommy's trauma. As the youngest sibling with two older brothers, I got your back Tommy 🫶

I've been thinking a lot recently about stuff that could have been explored a lot more in Total Drama, specifically the antagonists of each season. I know that some of them did get additional depth and reasons as to why they are the way they are, but I think it could be really cool to see how much deeper it goes, particularly with "background antagonists" that cause their behavior. So enjoy my rambling about each villain/antag!

Chris - I'm not sure what happened there...I've always figured it was just the fame and stress of the show getting to him that caused possible underlying mental health issues to resurface. And because getting help could cause a scandal and ruin his reputation, Chris was kinda just allowed to spiral?

Heather - If I'm remembering correctly, her parents actually don't like her very much (like with the electroshock therapy and celebrating her not being at home). Although this is expanded on canonically, with Heather stating that her meanness is a form of protection, it'd be fascinating to see how far down that trauma goes.

Justin - I honestly think that one was also due to so much fame, and the idea that he could get away with stuff because he's attractive (although obviously, that failed later on). I personally think it's due to a massive ego fueled by his modeling and turning it into a form of narcissism.

Courtney - I'm mostly putting Courtney here because I feel like she definitely had a semi-antagonistic role in Action and All-Stars. I actually don't know much about her, except for working very hard, like with the CIT and student president stuff. I've heard that she had an abusive childhood, but I'm not sure? I haven't seen anything to back it up, but it would still be interesting to see why she got so aggressive outside of the love triangle.

Alejandro - I know there was some detail to his issues (that being José constantly belittling him and causing a strong inferiority complex). But I would be very interested in seeing just how badly José actually treated him as children, even as teenagers, to cause the manipulation in order to protect himself. Especially because presumably, his family didn't do anything about it. Although it's true that he doesn't necessarily have issues with most of his family (like how he mentioned Carlos and his uncle, without mentioning José during World Tour for the most part), it'd be very fascinating to see why they enabled this bullying and possibly abusive behavior to continue.

Scott - In all honesty, I never really finished Revenge of the Island, so I don't have much to say for him, except maybe exploring his background that caused him to sabotage the challenges and get into people's heads.

Mal - For me, it's not so much why he acts the way he does as an "evil" alter. It's actually why Mal exists at all. What could Mike have gone through to have formed an alter like that, especially considering his multiple attempted murders in All-Stars. (Same could be said for all the alters, honestly. What happened for them to exist?

Scarlett/Amy/Sugar - I actually haven't really watched this season. I guess I just didn't find it very interesting, especially with the idea that technically, I think there's three villains (Amy towards Sammy, Scarlett for the bomb threat, and Sugar...I dunno why, but I've heard she's supposed to be a villain).

Jacques and Josee - I still have yet to watch Ridonculous Race, although I intend to. But as I haven't seen it yet, I don't have a big opinion or anything to analyze, although I wonder if the fame got to the Ice Dancers, or if they're just assholes.

That's everyone (except for Bowie and Julia, because I have no access to the reboot and therefore cannot form an opinion, even based off clips), so if you somehow read this entire damn thing, good for you.

With how certain parts in the story play out or are portrayed, do you think Yana exploits or down plays O!Ciel’s trauma sometimes? For example, during Noah’s circus arc, that panic attack he has is caused when he was exposed to Kelvin’s doings which triggered his trauma. Yet at the same time, actions like Ran Mao hugging O!Ciel and pushing him into her chest makes him flustered. The interaction doesn’t make him panic in the same way even though he suffered at the hands of both men and women in the cult. I can mostly chalk it up to Yana putting in fan service in when it comes to how he is framed in certain instances or in situations like the corset scene, but overall, is his trauma only there when the plot needs it?

I'd say the trauma is there all the time. It's just that much of the time he can somewhat control how he reacts. He regularly suppresses his emotions, anyway, because it's the only way he can move forward on his goals. Consider this part of his act, pretending to be the "better" older twin. He knows real Ciel went through the same ordeals, but he probably assumes his older brother would have faced each new day with all the strength he could muster... if he had survived instead. It's probably on his mind more often than we actually witness, but since he's not the main, title character, we don't see his thoughts as often.

If he were constantly displaying the effects of the severe trauma, he'd pull a revolver on Sebastian when he's called upon to wake up each day. He'd be jumping out of his skin to run away whenever a creep like Druitt showed up. Or crouching down to go into the fetal position and scream. That sort of thing. He'd be too much of a mess to let the plot progress. He wouldn't be able to function very well. Basically, he'd be like he was during the witch arc, until Sebastian was 90% serious about devouring his soul then and there.

Honestly, the series would be hard(er) to read, if we were constantly getting the full brunt of the effect those traumatic events have on him. As a victim of childhood abuse myself, with the repetitive intrusive thoughts and flashbacks I already have regarding those long-past experiences, reading and seeing illustrations of similar ongoing suffering would be somewhat detrimental... possibly. What I experienced wasn't as terrifying or horrific as what happens to him and his twin (though the abuse lasted way longer for me), and I don't have any real triggers. Regardless of what happened to me, I do my best to carry on with the day-to-day, even on days I'm thinking about it more than usual. Whatever PTSD I might have isn't nearly as severe as it could be. A series written that way -- our earl constantly showing us how he suffers from trauma -- would be downright unreadable for a lot of people. Some find it too emotionally difficult, as is, and dropped the series.

I expect that what he mentally goes through, after the abuses, is pretty much the same thing all day, every day. It's repetitive, pestering him, and he has to brush away thoughts about it. He does the best he can to hold himself together. He tries to focus on revenge. On Funtom. On his duties as watchdog. Whatever... to think about something other than that timeframe and those memories. What's shown to us (of the trauma) are the times when it's just too much for him to maintain that composure... as well as what caused the trauma in the first place. I'd say that is quite enough to get the point across.

It's sad that a lot of those scenes are given fan service treatment. Sad mostly because it means there's still a large chunk of the fandom that practically demands it. I'd prefer a lack of glamor and sexualization in those moments. I know a lot of fans would agree with me. But she can't please everyone all the time. And what sells, sells.

AITA FOR SORT OF KILLING MY PARENTS?

hello, this is the first time I've written here. A few people advised me to ask here, and I decided to take a shot because even though I think they deserve it, I still feel guilty about it.

I (20 Genderqueer) had a pretty rough life, and my parents were one of the causes of unhappiness with bullying, isolation, and loneliness.

My family is, or should I say was rich, high class, and terribly snob, so any form of creativity or weirdness wasn't seen well, but that and the emotional abuse wasn't the only problem.

As a child, I didn't have any privacy. I couldn't do anything alone. They wanted to watch me costantly, and for some reasons they seemed to know all my secrets and thoughts. I wasn't scared, this was normal for me but I hated it a lot.

When I was a bit older I started obviously to do things by myself but despite this I've felt always watched, especially by them, I had the feeling that they were near me and judging my actions.

With that, I had also a few paranormal experiences in my life and these events led me now to be fascinated by the unknown and wanting answers so when I finally left that shithole of an house, I started to work in a place that studies paranormal stuff.

Anyway, maybe now you are thinking, "Wait, what does that have to do with it?"

Basically, during my work there, I've discovered such the fact that the events of my childhood were caused by a literal god.

By the way, the point is that at the end, I've made a sort of deal with the god and embracing it I've gained some powers, such as the capacity of creating a fog where I can disappear or apparently make others disappear inside of it.

So, as a consequence, I sent my parents in the fog as an act of revenge for what they did to me and the trauma caused.

Sorry if this isn't really clear, but there's a lot of stuff that I still don't have the necessary force to say, and also, I still didn't mentally elaborate on it.

Maria Linda or Mari-Lynn, born April 22, had a very normal life for a nekomata yokai. She’s apart of a clan called the Nakaruma clan. She has loving parents, caring family, amazing friends, and shelter. Until one day, one of the powerful clan members, Daichi Meiyo, a tengu yokai, went insane by an unknown spell. He told Mari-Lynn’s parents aka the leaders named Adella and Vincent that he deserved to be leader since he said that he had many big plans for them. “You’re going insane Daichi! You have to leave and sort this all out before you put us all in danger!” Vincent shouted. Daichi huffed and left them alone for years. Mari-Lynn was now six years old and now has a little brother named Duncan. But just as things seemed to die down Daichi came back with a few allies to accompany him. They soon began to attack different clan memebers. Daichi aimed for the leaders of the clan with his odatachi. Vincent was using tekko-kagi’s to try and attack Daichi back while Adella used sai’s to aim for Daichi’s back. She was about to strike him until Daichi turned around quickly and held her by the neck. Mari-Lynn was hiding in the background watching the fight as he baby brother was holding onto her. Vincent saw Adella get choked in front of his eyes which cause his fire powers to trigger and fight in a blind rage. The fire soon got near flammable decorations that soon lit the decorations and house on fire. Different members tried to escape the fire but some were either killed by Daichi’s members, burned to a crisp by the fire, or tried fighting off Daichi’s members. Daichi had a wicked smile on his face as he looked at Vincent. “Adella was always a skilled ninja that could move at the speed of light but she always thought she was better than everybody and thought she could get through everything… but she won’t be thinking that no more….” Daichi soon cut off her head with her odatachi. Mari-Lynn and Duncan watched in horror as their father soon charged at Daichi at full speed, ready to get revenge for his loved one but ended up getting his head chopped off as well. Duncan began to cry and dig his head into Mari-Lynn’s chest. The crying caused Daichi to look over at the two, his crazed smile still visible on his face. Mari-Lynn soon grabbed the weapons from her parents’s lifeless body and ran away with her brother in her arms. Daichi soon started to chase them, his odatachi already on her neck, bleeding and ready to be cutoff. Until her uncle Reggie swooped in just in time and knocked the odatachi out of Daichi’s hands with his bo staff. He quickly grabbed Mari-Lynn and Duncan, running into the forest in front of the burning building. Daichi didn’t bother to follow them and soon left the area with his allies. Reggie and what was the rest of the clan regrouped in the forest. There was many members either had severe or minor injuries. Some were talking to friends or family members, some were resting, and some were helping others out. Mari-Lynn and Duncan went over to their friend group where Akira, Mina, Igor, and Rae were resting on a log. Reggie soon got the attention from the other clan members and began to speak. “Hello everybody, i know this was all sudden but i have some bad news. Vincent and Adella have left us which leaves me in charge of the clan until Mari-Lynn is old enough to run it.” The people were surprised, sad, or angry. Especially Mari-Lynn. Reggie soon sighed. “Well we do have some options for all of you. Stay here in Japan and stay in the Nakaruma clan in Japan, go back to your home country and lead that version of the Nakaruma, or join me and travel to find a new place to start another generation of the Nakaruma.” The members soon decided what to do. “Well stay with you.” The Kimura’s ans Koji’s said. “Well go back to our home country.” The Owens said. Igor soon frowned about this news. “But mom-“ Igor was soon interrupted. “It’s for the best son.” His father said, Igor looked down at the floor. “Then it’s settled. Everybody grab your remains from the fire and make your leave, let’s try to stay in contact.”

Okay so my favorite little guy is my boi Peg, he's a very smol bean and is around 12 when he first shows up. He was born with some physical disfigurement, particularly some malformation of the face and a hunched back, as well as one leg that wasn't formed properly. That leg eventually gets amputated and he walks with a pegleg (hence the name Peg)

His parents abandoned him when he was an infant due to the disfigurement and he was sold into a Freak Show, where he lived for most of his childhood. It was extremely abusive and left him traumatized and with a lot of scars. Someone eventually helped him escape, and he got taken to a tavern cuz no one really knew what to do with him, so he's spent the last couple years basically working as an errand boy and bartender there. At 10-12 years old. But this is is like mild fantasy/olden days so no one really cares about keeping a child away from alcohol. It's not like a super great environment, but it's way better than the Freak Show and all the thugs and people there kinda just think of him as their little mascot or whatever so it's not too bad.

Anyway Peg is the purest bean, the sweetest little guy, never complains, works hard, is a literal beam of sunshine. Like literally I just wanna cry about him all the time. He's babey. And all he really wants is to be cared about. The tavern people do feel affectionate towards him but are just really rough and not super kind about it. He needs someone to love and take care of him.

Enter Caldren, my other favorite OC (okay I have a lot of favorites but these are pretty much the top two). Caldren. Sigh. I love him. I adore him. He's also incredibly stupid and stubborn. He's here because he's on a Revenge Quest™ to kill the guy who killed his parents (ah yes, cliche backstory my beloved). He's already committed arson and sort of accidentally abandoned his childhood-best-friend-who-has-a-crush-on-him-except-he's-not-aware-because-he's-stupid in his one-track obsession with revenge. He's convinced that once he kills this guy everything will be fine and he can fix all the problems he's already caused, except he just. Keeps. Making. Things. Worse. This boy. He's fifteen and his brain is not fully developed yet, which is the only excuse I have for him sometimes.

Anyway, he shows up at this tavern to try to get some training in how to commit murder, sees this Freak and literal child, and immediately decides that Peg is his brother now. He literally knows him for less than a day and is already pulling knives on people who dare be mean to him. And Caldren has SOOOO many issues, but the one thing he's got is he will literally do anything for the people he loves.

So Peg finally gets all the love and affection he needs and deserves. Caldren is so soft with him and slowly helps him to work through his trauma and fears. Caldren is so funny because he can go from Intense Murder Mode to the sweetest, cuddliest big bro in the blink of an eye. They're the actual epitome of "I'd kill for you" and "Please don't". Caldren is tall and brooding and dark and angsty, and Peg is so smol and sunshiney, and they're just so cute.

THEY'RE JUST THE BEST BROTHERS AND FOUND FAMILY EVER AND I LOVE THEM. I WANT TO SCREAM AND CRY ABOUT THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Like, we get it, she’s hot and badass or whatever, but she also emotionally manipulated and ruined Oliver’s entire life because she “felt like it.” She tried to force Juliette to drain Calliope (literally manhandled her sister and forced Calliope’s blood into her mouth), she guilt-tripped Juliette and tried to get her to kill an innocent woman and manipulated her into getting super drunk and killing a random guy when she knew that Juliette didn’t want to.

And before someone comes at me like ‘well Oliver did the same thing with Ashley’ - no, he didn’t. He killed her in the hopes that Juliette would give into instinct to help her, he didn’t try to force her to do anything, let alone manhandle her or put smear into her mouth against her will.

Adding on to what Elinor did to Juliette, she did a lot of gaslighting and guilt-tripping, made everything all about herself, and constantly told Juliette that she had to do something because otherwise Elinor’s future - not Juliette’s - would be in jeopardy. She also clearly threatened Ben’s life on multiple occasions (Juliette's best friend since childhood!) and trashed the pills that Juliette needed to feel even remotely okay. That’s like taking someone who has a broken arm’s cast away.

There are more instances of Elinor pulling the strings to her own favor in Juliette's life as well, you just need to pay attention while watching.

She also manipulated her parents into believing that Oliver was evil, causing them to literally banish and shun him for years. We got flashbacks and mentions of how she coerced Oliver into killing his pet turtle, Mr. Green, and manipulated him into killing their therapist, telling him that if he just drank from her, he'd never feel bad again (notice that she did similar things with Juliette.)

Again, she didn't have to do any of this - Oliver isn't even a part of the matriarchy, he was no threat to her or to her power. She simply 'felt like it.'

From the age of two, she 'just felt like' ruining her innocent twin's life. Even after Oliver's return in eps 3-4, she was still trying to manipulate Sebastian and Margot into thinking that he was evil. When she and Margot were driving to get Oliver - who had literally just been tortured - from the Burns, she kept trying to convince Margot that he was evil, that he was a psychopath, and got very frustrated and angry when Margot ignored her.

And even after destroying her brother’s life, that still wasn’t enough for her - she wants power so badly that she’ll ruin, manipulate, twist, hurt, and/or kill anyone in her way, no matter who they are.

That doesn’t make her a ‘hot power queen omg slay,’ it makes her a manipulative, power-hungry, murderous, abusive bitch.

Edit: a lot of people I've seen online have been saying that Oliver is just as psycho as Elinor is, and that they're both the same levels of evil.

I'd like to say that I don't believe that this is true, simply because it's pretty obvious that while Oliver is definitely seeking revenge in an insanely over-the-top fashion (by a human standpoint) we have to remember that psychopaths are people who show little to no emotion.

The only time that we've really seen Elinor show emotion is for Sebastian, her father, or when she is losing the power that she has. However, we've seen Oliver show emotion on multiple occasions - he talks about love, he's open with Carmen, he trauma-dumps to Talia while tied up in her basement, comforts Juliette when she comes to him, and openly sobs when confronted by his parents. We can see that he has a lot of deep, emotional layers, that he buries and hides to keep himself safe from the world.

And how sad is that? That he was manipulated so badly at such a young age by the person who was supposed to always be there for him, his twin sister, that he has to hide all of his true feelings to protect himself.

So Maria is the granddaughter of Dr.Gerald robotnik, who is also the grandfather of eggman. Maria and eggman are cousins I believe, unless it's been changed as of like 2018+. Maria has N.I.D.S, an illness that causes the affected person to get weaker and weaker and need constant medical attention as it progresses, and so her and her grandfather are in space, due to the anti gravity helping the symptoms to not progress as fast. While up there, her grandfather, who was actually the opposite of eggman, a kind caring person who wanted to use science for good and help cure his granddaughter was put on a task to create the ultimate life form by the government. So he created shadow, Gerald gave Shadow a soul so that humanity would not abuse his power for monstrous acts. Little did Gerald know that in the end, he himself was still only human. the plan was called off while still being worked on, and he was taken away and executed by the govfor creating shadow and 'putting humanity in danger' despite building its best protector. They interrogated him, before asking "is that all?" And it cuts to black, them prolly shooting him off screen. He didn't get a trial either, so it was straight up murder. While all this was happening, it's seen in the cutscenes of both the games and anime, that Maria was standing above a control panel weakly, before it cuts to a scene of shadow in the tube thing, in shadows flashback it showing maria saying how she wanted revenge on humanity. this is seen altered a lot though And YKNOW WHAT REALLY FUCKS ME UP? The fact that Gerald altered shadows memory so he wouldn't feel as pained, only the true meaning and stuff coming out when Amy says something that triggers it. And because of eggman being related, imagine if that's the reason he's so fucked up now This actually would explain why Eggman has so many childish characteristics despite being a grown man - since people who have experienced severe trauma as children often carry on childlike traits well into their adulthood to cope with the fact that the innocence of their childhood was cut short. It makes the concept of his "Eggmanland" amusement park SO much more tragic when you think about how it's probably a manifestation of the final drops of a traumatized childs innocence seeping through the cracks of an angry, bitter and broken old man's rampage of revenge against a world that wronged him and his loved ones so brutally, suddenly and pointlessly that he lost his goddamn mind That might also be why he hates sonic so much, due to him striking a resemblance to shadow. Oh and btw Shadow's design is based on the Prophecy of Super Sonic. In otherwords, Shadow almost owes his existence to Sonic in every way. but also due to Gerald coming into contact with Black Doom during his experimental processes, who offered up his immortal alien DNA in order to create Shadow. That's why Shadow looks like Black Doom and its why he's immortal while being able to channel the power of the Chaos Emeralds. Black doom is also why they shut down the project AND HIS FUCKING LAST SPEACH FUCKS ME ALL THE WAY UP! YOU DONT EXPEVT LINES LIKE "You ungrateful humans who took everything away from me will feel my loss and despair…" FROM A GOD DAMN SONIC GAME WHERE SOMEBODY IS CHAINED UP AND ABOUT TO BE KILLED Oh and Shadow tried to retcon certain details; such as wanting to remember Gerald fondly. The same man that nearly destroyed the entire planet from beyond the grave due to being driven mad with grief. This entire story line (not including silvers, knuckles backstory, blaze's lore ect) is why I'm still so into sonic.

I have not seen hotd nor read the related books, but when I somehow stumbled upon ... (I follow Tywin Lannister tags, which leads to GoT, which I guess leads to HotD?.. anyway!)... Aemond and I'm like hot damn who be dis! He looks yummy and villanus.

Anyway! I've read your headacanons and notice that you portray Aemond almost like a gentle lover. Why is that? What makes you think he would be such a nice husband and loving father? I know immediately that I'm basing my assumptions on mere looks and would think of him more as a possessive and jealous lover. The type that doesn't desire children whether his "wife" wants or not. Would he even take a wife? Not saying he would ever visit a brothel cause I can't picture him being entertained by whores. But perhaps a woman catches his eye and he just wants her to be his (marriage or not). Either way! He'd be the one in control. Some type of Dom/sub dynamics. OR I picture him loving (obsessing?) someone, from the shadows, not pursuing because he's afraid of being turned down. Rejection is his weakness? So he keeps his distance. OR if a woman does fascinates him he won't pursue cause he sees love/lust as weakness and with that in mind tries to suppress whatever he's feeling.

I clearly can't decide on how I view him when it comes to "love". But I definitely can't see a soft Aemond when it comes to his lover/partner/friend. So I would absolutely love your expert analysis.

Hi my love! Thank you so much for the message, I'm flattered you want me to expound upon my opinion.

I think a key element in further understanding Aemond's depth of character would be watching the show for yourself, perhaps then it would make a little more sense.

The breakdown in somewhat of a nutshell, is Aemond has a few people in his inner circle whom he cares for beyond the shadow of any doubt. Primary among those few are his mother and his sister. In the show it is obvious he is a momma's boy and shows a much more gentle and loving side to her than we see with anyone else. There are also moments when he is obviously protective of his sister, Helaena, taking a defensive stance in front of her when confronted with a) a man being beheaded in court and b) in front of an actual dragon.

I believe because of this that whoever he falls in love with (if that were to ever happen) would also know the more secret softer side to him.

Aemond is an incredibly nuanced character, the show writers have really put in the effort to make him very layered, but on the surface we see someone who is aloof, even arrogant, and who is hell bent on exacting revenge upon his nephew who took his eye when they were children. The show also take steps to give us a look at Aemond's childhood and how he was bullied by his elder brother, Aegon, as well as his nephews because he had not bonded with a dragon yet.

When Aemond is presented with the opportunity to take revenge on his nephew, he jumps at it, demanding an eye for an eye. When his nephew flees from him Aemond pursues and in a tragic turn of events his nephew winds up dead. Here we see again the deeper part of Aemond's character shining through as he looks on with an expression of horror and regret at what he's done, clearly he did not intend on murder despite all his outward affectations.

Should he have pursued Lucerys demanding his eye? No. Did he mean to kill Luke? Absolutely not.

Again, this points to a depth of character that is more than someone who is cruel and psychotic.

When Aemond was 13 his older brother took him to a brothel to "get it wet" and when Aemond is retelling this story he does so with no pleasure or relish. He is confronted by the prostitute who was there when he was a child. She recognizes him, and it is painfully obvious how traumatized Aemond is from this. Another hint to how he is not simply some cold monster, but a lot of his attitude and confidence is a front to make up for all the trauma he has experienced.

So yes, sorry I went on for longer than I wanted. But I firmly believe that if a woman were to catch his eye and they were to fall in love, we would see that warm loving side to him yet again. It would be extremely difficult for him to actually fall in love, because I don't see him as being someone who opens up and trusts easily. But in his heart of hearts Aemond is a hurt boy who has created a hardened shell to survive in his world.

In the books he does fall in love with a woman, Alys Rivers. And I fully believe he loved her. He brings her with him before his final battle and she kisses him farewell. He calls her "my Alys" and heeds her when she coaxes him down from a rage.

So yes, while I fully believe Aemond will continue to spiral as the events of the Dance unfold, he will keep that secret warmth for those who remain within his inner circle. Interestingly enough, most of those people are women. I honestly cannot think of anyone else who qualifies other than Helaena, Alicent and Alys.

But we will see!

Licensed for Carnage change - chapter one

T.W. : Graphic descriptions of trauma, yelling cursing, Bruce Wayne is a trigger all on his own, descriptions of fear gas, falling, cursing, gore , panic attack described, childhood abuse, stalking eventual smut but much much later in the story, and slow burn. summery: Carter was odd child. Bruce always knew she was special even if he never showed it. she was psychokinetic. psychokinesis, also called telekinesis, in parapsychology, the action of mind on matter, in which objects are supposedly caused to move or change as a result of mental concentration upon them or on a living being.

“ I'm leaving the manor Bruce" said dick as he stood up from his chair at the large dining room. The younger Girl That sat opposite of the young man was fuming but she didn't dare show it. Bruce Wayne sat at the head of the table, jaw clenched tightly and hands balled up in a fist. she had promised Dick that if he ever chose to leave the manor she would go with him but now that it's that time she doesn't know if she can, dick saved her life but Bruce gave her a home, a family .she's torn between these two realities her savior or her father sure Bruce doesn't always keep his anger in check but he still gave her a home when she had nothing a dick saved her life she would be dead or worse just sitting on the streets if it wasn't for him he gave her a fighting chance. a chance to get revenge but not make stupid decisions That she would end up regretting. 

“She's coming with me she wants to live in normal life without the burden of being Another one of your lackeys like I am I'm done I'm gonna be a investigator she's going to finish collage we're going to have a real family not one that's used for their strength we're going to be gone by the end of this week" as he says that he pushes in his chair and slowly walks out “come on Car we're leaving let's get packing" 

“ but Dick-” “Carter now.” She takes a long look at Bruce, the only father she's ever truly known and slowly stands up pushing her Chair in and following Dick out the door. 

Bruce knew this was in a long time coming .He and Dick never truly saw eye to eye in the way he raised Carter; he found her when she was just a Child around 8 years old. Dick was around 16. Dick has always taken the brotherly role that he was assigned. He loved her as if she was truly his sibling. She had run away from her foster family.

“Master Bruce, please consider talking to her. She has to choose between you and her brother. This has to be hard for her as well. She's only 17. She doesn't know what to do." Alfred explains. Bruce takes a long drawn-out sigh “please go talk to him I don't think dick wants me Anywhere near her right now he will listen to you he trusts you" Bruce puts his head down in his hands rubbing his temples. “As You Wish master Bruce" And with that Alfred leaves the same way dick and Carter did moments before him.

“ Dick what the hell was that about you said that you'd let me finish school first you need to give me time at least let me say goodbye!” Carter exclaims. "Carter, I want what's best for you. You don't need to grow up like this, you can still be normal. I can go be an investigator , you can finish college Somewhere far away from here, you can be normal, you want to be a normal kid right? “ Dick says with concern in his eyes both of his hands are on your shoulders and before he lets you answer he turns and opens your door beckoning you inside. you do as he instructs . He pulls out an old black duffle bag. “ Anything you can fit in here you can take with you. Well get the rest another time ” and with that he walks out leaving you to your own devices.

Dick closes the door just to be face to face with Alfread. “Master Dick if i may, ARE you sure this is what's best for carter, she is but a child. This type of change at this age especially with her type of ….. Condicion-.” “Alfread dont.”Dicks eyes go dark. “ My apologies, Master Dick.” Alfred apologizes and takes a step away from Dick. he knows this is a touchy subject for him.

Tears fall from Carters eyes as she looks through a small stack of pictures that was hidden inside a hollowed out book. She places them inside the book and puts it on her shelf. All except one. The one with her dick and Bruce all in uniform. This was her first patrol. Alfred insisted on taking a photo as a memento. She carefully sets the picture inside an old hoodie that once belonged to dick when he was her age.she looks at the case that holds her other half her outlet. That she lets all her frustrations out . Her suit. Red canary. the part of herself that is brutal. Is numb to all the blood and gore that her job forces her to endure. She quickly shakes herself out of her  daze and grabs the case, attaching it to her now full Duffle bag and hauling it over her shoulder towards the door.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

the idea that the show cares about "redemption" in the traditional sense of Bad Person Becomes Good or Person Who Did A Bad Thing Makes Up For The Harm They Caused. i think this comes from a lot of people not really picking up on the fact that ofmd doesn't care about physical violence in and of itself (bc like, they're all pirates, they all do violence, it would get hypocritical if they were like "killing people is wrong!" when the majority of the characters have absolutely killed people before and are not broken up about it). i see this shit thrown around all the time, sometimes rephrased as "the show is about second chances to become a better person" or "the show is about forgiveness and making amends." it's fucking baffling to me because like...

the badmintons were childhood bullies who both died in comedically gruesome accidents. calico jack betrayed ed and killed a bird and he got hit dead-on by a cannonball. ed’s abusive dad gets choked to death by his own son. there is no indication on whether stede’s dad is still alive, which implies that he’s dead and will never get the chance to repair his relationship with his son (which he probably wouldn’t give a shit about anyway). episode 5 has a bunch of racist french people die off-screen in various gruesome ways (drowning, burning, skinned alive with a snail fork and tossed overboard).

even with our leads! stede's journey in e10 is about him getting emotional closure/clarity and not about actually learning how abandoning his family hurt them emotionally (in fact, if it hurt them emotionally, the show barely went into any detail. it seems like they were more hurt by him coming back than disappearing in the first place). and ed shows no guilt or moral dilemma about his past of "loving a good maim" or "making some poor bloke eat his own toes for a laugh," just a kind of bored exhaustion because he's bored of living like that. and jim's story could be about how "killing people for revenge is bad," except that jim did very much kill the man who killed their family and has zero regrets about it.

anyway this is a good post about it but basically the thing everyone keeps confusing with "redemption" is the show's thesis of living authentically and being yourself and freeing yourself from the shackles of societal expectations—specifically the shackles of the white colonial cishetero patriarchy. and also at the same time this show is extremely pro revenge fantasy (who hasnt fantasized about their shithead childhood bully accidentally shooting themself in the face??), it just doesn't let revenge be the thing that actually heals its characters from trauma.

i think the thing i wanted the most from this ending was guidance. i know that’s weird to say, but as someone that was moved by scenes like “loneliness is what hurts most” and takamichi being a 27 year old loser in a run down apartment with a job that didn’t live up to his potential, i just felt like tokyo revengers was on to something.

i thought it would be about all those mistakes, and disappointments, and childhood trauma and taking all that shit and proving that it’s never too late to turn things around.

but it was too late.

none of us can go back in time and fix what’s broken. we can’t fix what our parents did to us or what opportunities we didn’t take or what people we pushed away. we can’t change our past behaviors.

we can only move forward and learn from them.

so what the fuck?

so (personal real life story) one of my family members was adopted and had no contact with her genetic family. she randomly gets contacted by her real dad out of the blue, and it turns out he wants to meet her for the first time since she was a baby.

his family had to give her up when she was a child. her mom died during childbirth, and that left him with 3 (i think) kids to take care of and feed on his own. he decided she was one too many.

so he calls her after 20 plus years, and my family member (i don’t want to be specific about which one due to privacy concerns), decides she doesn’t wanna see him. doesn’t wanna talk to him. she turns down the offer, and he dies without ever reconciling.

are you trying to tell me that neither of them are going to have a happy ending, any closure, unless she can figure out how to time travel and undo all that shit that’s happened?

what about something simpler? something easier? is wakui trying to say that my life will be hard for the rest of my life because i turned down that job opportunity i was too scared to take when I was 17?

so if you catch me being salty about the ending, just know this is what it’s about. it wasn’t a stupid game or just another manga to me. this manga showed up in front of me when i got kicked out of my parents house for standing up to the abuse and was forced to pick up the bill for a shitty studio apartment probably worse than takamichi’s.

like i get what it’s like to have nothing. i get what it’s like to have nothing. i cant go back in time.

so what the fuck was this story about, wakui? ‘cause it’s definitely not about proving it’s never too late to change your life. and it’s def not about trying to save the girl. so…?

and erasing everyone’s scars? yea, that’s just great. because that’s what it takes to live a happy life huh. the scars have to go. anything that suggests struggle, or pain, or trauma, or anything more than a slight blemish just doesn’t have room in this happy future.
