his mom is actually an amazing bharatnatyam dancer and she taught him how to dance and lemme tell you my son looks majestic while dancing- [he's also thankful for it because he can move more flexibly whenever he's fighting a monster or smth, which makes him more agile]

i don’t know if you want to bring this up again so feel no need to publish this ask, but claiming show canon automatically overrides book canon is also giving a credit to riordan which he did not work to deserve. there are countless authors who include a diverse cast of characters from the start and get no acknowledgement. he never made that effort in his first series and people shouldn’t pretend he did. though, i am very happy that he has chosen to do things differently in the live action!

Regardless: I agree fully with this. It's something I was also considering but didn't point out as that wasn't my focus. It gives credit that is not owed, it gives him more diversity than he actually included in the original books. There was ONE notably black character in the first series, One. The second series included One (notable) black girl (who was strongly connected to slavery and also killed off and brought back and also put in a relationship with an older guy and and and-). He does not deserve credit for things he didn't do.

I'm glad he's trying to improve, despite my issues with him, but Book Annabeth is NOT overridden by show Annabeth. Any claims to such ignore his intentions in the original writing, for good or bad.

The Show Annabeth is black, and Leah is going to do amazing I'm certain, she deserves love and support. But her being Show Annabeth does not mean she's Book Annabeth. That's an objective fact, not a dismissal of her. They're two different Annabeths.

Both are wonderful, and I look forward to seeing Annabeth on the screen just like I've loved having Annabeth come to live via the books.

back in the day, I used to be a big fat percy of colour fan and I used to hc him as desi and I remember this one user who was desi themselves saying it annoyed her when people hc'ed him as desi bc it wasn't in character. And it makes more sense that he was Polynesian or black bc it's not cultural for percy to be like that. Maybe it's bc I'm from the UK but I know desi kids who are 'troublemakers' and 'bad at school' and 'jokey'. And poor as well.

I also remember her saying Jason or annabeth fit being desi better and I know exactly why they said that. Bc it fits the upper middle class indian American stereotype of straight laced, obsessed with rules and overall a bit of a bore. I could get into the class divide between Indians in western countries bc it's so stark and the way we act is so different, it's beyond shocking. That is for another post tho 😔

Percy:Afrolatina(half dominican on Sally's side but full black) and a trans woman who's fully physically transitioned,not medically but via magic similar to ambrosia and nectar called metamorphose,which is food that has been blessed by Aphrodite to give the eater their dream apperance.Curvy and busty not for thrist reasons but because all my transfem friends have that's what they want for themselves when they go on estrogen and i wanna make irl trans women happy with this hc.Still muscular,6' and with her black hair and sea green eyes but also your usual black features(dark brown skin,a strong nose and full lips),dyes her formely gray streak that's naturally faded to white sea blue to not raise questions while in the mortal wold and her hair goes to her hips and she wears it in it's natural style and that makes it look like waves.The best way i can describe her fashion sense is 'femme skater girl'

Grover:Blasian(African-American + indian).A perfect mix between both sides of his heritage,with rich brown skin,dark brown eyes,a hooked nose and black dreads.Has the same sense of style and build as in canon but actually needs those crutches because of a disability in his legs

Annabeth:Transmasc he/him butch lesbian who's egg cracked thanks to and at the same time as Percy's.Works out a lot to be buff for gender euphoria and has an undercut,owl wing shaped top surgery scars and no streak in her hair as it faded fully due to being blonde.Dresses like a 90s tomboy

Clarisse:Pretty much the same but he's also half black and therefore has light brown skin and his brown hair is naturally kinky and he keeps it at chin length with chopping it off with a knife whenever it grows past that(took Piper's choppy look and gave it to him because it's not culturally insensitive that way).Same identity and aesthetic as Annabeth but with more edge to it like t-shirts with violent and crude graphics

Silena:I go with the fandom's muslim hc and also hc that all her hijabs have been a pastel color and after getting to Camp Half Blood,she was given magic ones that never come off.Black-french with almost black skin,brown eyes and burn scars from the acid incident that she survived in my verse.Peak pastel femme

Thalia:Black/white mixed and looks like a girl version of Zeus,not unlike Percy with Poseidon.Has her canon lithe build and electric blue eyes but her hair is locs(same length as usual though)and she's darkskinned with strong features.Trans girl who took metamorphose as a gift from Persephone like Percy(which is the reason for her chosen full name,as a thank you to her)but the only effects it had on her was giving her a muffin top and a small chest because she's butch.Goth punk like in canon

Nico:Black-italian trans boy.Darkskin but lighter than Percy and Thalia and noticably more delicate features than them and has an afro and an average build with top surgery scars-He was the third and final one to be gifted metamorphose by his stepmom and that's where he got them from,no surgery needed(it also added 2 inches to his height).Goth with but a gnc twist thanks Percy and Hazel's influence.Small note i'd like to share:Persephone asked Sally about the Big Three Kids' favorite foods and the metamorphose's ended up being blue pancakes,a double cheeseburger and a box of 10 piece McNuggets

Bianca:Black-italian with medium skin,similar facial features to Nico and her single braid is instead a box braid low ponytail.Light academia(but actually reads).Still dead sadly but everyone thinks fondly of and speaks highly of her

Rachel:Nigerian-american trans girl.Still a green eyed redhead but with a very strong face,extremely dark skin and wears her hair in it's naturally big and poofy state.Fat because of her estrogen and her fashion sense matches her eccentric artist personality

Jason:Black/white mixed and it's easy to tell by looking at him to go with him and Thalia being opposites.Thick and curly dirty blonde hair,brown eyes and light brown skin.Nerdy jock as always

Piper:Long straight black hair that she keeps down,skin that's darker than Jason's but lighter than the rest of the Big Three Kids',black eyes,monolids and a hooked nose.Butch with a love for sanrio and Percy got her into skating so she incorporates that into her wardrobe too(Butch4femme solidarity at it's finest).Aphrodite took the form of a cherokee woman when with Tristan so she's full native

Anna and Ari adoption HC

They weren't planning on adopting a child when they were in India meeting Aris family there, and initially they had only planned on adopting one child.

But that was before they met Saanvi and Prisha. They are sisters, Saanvi is 6 and Prisha is 3, and inseparable. It's one of the reasons they haven't been adopted.

The other is that, as a result of seeing her parents being murdered, Prisha became a self mute, and has really bad separation anxiety. Saanvi won't leave her little sister

They don't even really discuss it. These girls are coming home with them. And no one is going to talk them out of it.

They let everyone know, but ask that they don't come to Percy Street unless invited. These girls have been through enough and their friends and family can be a lot on a good day.

Flora is the first to come round. She brings them both a plushie Teddie and some story books Ari had liked when she was young. She's becomes the grandma that turns up randomly because she saw something in a shop she thought one of the girls might like.

Then Cecily, Gabriel and Alexander come round. Alex is thrilled to have someone his own age with to have as a playmate. Gabriel literally can't stop having an crisis he's "too young to be a grandfather". Cecily bless her heart is literally the only sane one offering actual practical advice "as long as your children are happy and healthy then everything else falls into place". She should know having raised Anna and Christopher

Gideon, Sophie and Eugenia come to visit. Gideon looks baffled on seeing the girls (despite having been told several times by Sophie) and Eugenia gushes at them. Again Sophie being the gem she is, having heard about what they have been through slips Anna a list of people who might be able to help them deal with their trauma. The list is a God's send and really helps both of them.

Will and Tessa invite them to the institute, so they can get used to the place. Saanvi asks loads of questions which Will answers and Tessa let's Prisha take her time and makes her feel safe.

Then the girls are subjected to introduced to their parents friends. James and Lucie bombard them with books, Mathew comes arms with clothes, Alistair and Thomas are just their for cuddles (Alistair will deny the fact), as does Cordelia. Jesse just let's Lucie ask a million and one questions. Grace comes for a short visit and on leaving simply says "let them know how much you love them"

And these girls really are loved. Anna and Ari don't force anything on them. Their expectations are reasonable; have manners but don't take fools lightly. Don't let anyone dull your light but that doesn't mean it has to be about you all the time.

In time, they both deal from their trauma. Prisha begins to talk again and doesn't have a meltdown and being separated. Saanvi was better at hiding her problems but she's ok

Plus they might not be related to Anna and Ari by blood but there is no doubt who they were raised by. Both are really accepting of anyone and everyone, and will stick up for the underdog.

Saanvi takes after Anna in the sense she's such a social gathering organiser and hoist. Parties, picnics, inventive games Saanvi is your girl. Whereas Prisha inherits Anna's listing ear. You need some to help you process something? Prisha is your girl. Both leant about healing from Ari.

But they are also their own people. Saanvi is an artist. She mostly sketches and paints watercolors. She also occasionally plays the piano with Ari.

Prisha however is a Gardener. She is particularly keen on growing plants that are native to India to keep that part of her heritage alive. She also enjoys cooking and baking a lot of Indian food as well for that very same reason.

Grover:Transneutral but presents as a mix of masc and fem and also gay(Juniper is a she/her transmasc).Since i hc him as blasian because of his actors,he mixes in his indian heritage with his specific type of gncness such as doing both men and women's traditions!!Sadly he felt bad about his identity at first because of stereotypes against asian men not unlike his two best friends and now found sisters too with their own queerness but thankfully,a big part of his character development is learning to do things for himself without caring what others think!As per canon he wears rasta hats but in 'groovy' fun colors and outfits that match them and tbh i don't wanna give him an assigned birth gender not just cause it's weird but also because i think it's more fun if you can make whichever interpretation you like :].He couldn't care less about pronouns as long as you're using them respectfully but uses xe/leaf in addition to the standard ones.And for the earrings,Percy has a pair of pastel blue strawberries with light pink petals and Grover has a mismatched set that's a music note and a leaf♡

i love the indian percy soap opera idea and with the new pjo casting (so excited for walker!!) i see this as the perfect time to advance my desi grace siblings agenda. i am absolutely projecting here but i think jason's discipline and desire to be perfect fits in so perfectly with this hc, esp since he's always being compared to someone else (desi parents' fav hobby). ALSO remember when in the demigod files Thalia meets Melinoe who looks like Beryl and is all "you abandoned me" blah blah blah...

ANON i am KISSING you on the mouth (or hugging you if you prefer that or whatever else). i think about desi grace siblings ALL the time and the part where you said about jason trying to be disciplined, i high key agree w that point because yes!!! i think him being such a rule follower and feeling pressured under those rules is smth that is soooo personal as an indian person too!! not to mention hes always been held up as a leader and when his role as a leader is challenged (like how rick intended for the percy vs jason rivalry, seeing as how percy is considered the Opposing Leader on the argo ii), or when he thinks he's failed as a leader, he ends up beating himself up over it (although tbh the other characters act this way too so its not like specific for jason, but because leadership is such an important trait for his character i feel like that conflict is especially apparent).

ALSO i would love to see desi thalia fr because ummm desi punk girl??? id love to see a desi character like thalia be the opposite of what media tends to portray us as - shes all scary & intimidating, and definitely NOT a rule follower, and i think it'd be so cool to see her be that as a desi person. and her contrast to jason would speak volumes (it already does but it would especially if she n jason are desi!!) also omg desi beryl grace would be soo interesting because desi woman as an actress in hollywood??? intense. although she does end up dying so idk if that would be as relevant but id still kill to see that. and YES i love your point about their culture cuz ik as a desi american that its smth that really impacts me a lot, so to add in the greek/roman/desi/american thing, that would be sooo interesting and relatable to look at. plus id love to see them struggle w the whole 'am i even a proper indian???' conflict.

my favourite desi percy headcanons so i can pretend yesterday didn’t exist:

he and sally celebrate holi like no one’s business, if anyone walks outside their house they are watergunning blue paint all over them.

percy was confused by forks. like when he was super young, yk? bc he ate with his hands until like age 6, when he goes to boarding school, plus his poseidon instincts make him think they are weapons. anyways what i’m saying is the first time he got expelled it was for throwing a fork at someone.

speaking of bollywood, if you walk into the poseidon cabin unannounced you will 90% of the time be walking into a song and dance montage from percy’s most recently watched film.

i hc sally as south indian because like... matriarch, yk? so percy grew up eating dosa and burning his mouth out every morning... he cooks occasionally, he can make an awesome idli sambar.

percy tried to learn the flute so he could be like krishna except underwater. it didn’t work out.

percy also was in bharatanatyam classes for a few years, but unfortunately poise and precision weren’t really his fortes. he still dances and watches recitals if he can, though, and he’s taught annabeth the basics.

percy has gold earrings that he wears all the time, sally got his ears pierced when he was one year old and he’s never taken them out. he thought he lost them in the ocean and he panicked so hard, but a hippocampus brought them up for him. ever since then he makes sure they are fastened super tight before swimming.

bonus: he and arab!nico bond over gnc clothes and flowy veils!! percy totally wears saris and he gets annabeth to help wrap them... they aren’t very good for fighting so he doesn’t wear them too often though.

Thank you for asking!!! I'm going to tell you this is not going to be very good because I've literally only written about Leo like..once despite him being one of my faves. And these are going to be super super random!!!

Leo loves Elvis Presley songs. He knows the words to all his songs. He dressed up as Elvis from Jailhouse Rock for Halloween when he was 5.

He solved his first quadratic equation at the age of 4. His babysitter, a high school student, gave him a sheet of her homework to humor him because he kept asking. She freaked when she saw baby Leo had not only got the right answer but also solved with the correct steps.

Leo always had a fascination with shoes. For his 16th birthday, Piper bought him a pair of Air Jordans. Witnesses swear Leo cried while giving Piper a bone crushing hug though these rumors have been denied by the man himself.

He starts learning how to cook other cuisines as well as Mexican after the War. The first time he makes Indian food, he ends up adding too much chilly and almost killing his friends.

Nico swears that Leo's pasta tastes like the one his mom used to make and Leo ends up making that every time Nico visits.

Leo is one of those kids who watched Jurassic Park and ended up becoming obsessed with dinosaurs. He totally stans Ian Malcolm and is fascinated with the concept of Chaos Theory.

Leo can rap the whole of Rap God by Eminem perfectly. Enough said.

Leo is pretty good at painting. He and Hazel spend hours painting together whenever they need a break from "demigodly" stuff.

Leo and Percy are both amazing at Halo and have spent whole weekends gaming together.

At the end of the first weekend playing together, Leo had developed an attachment to Sally's blue cookies.

Leo watches Mexican soap operas religiously along with Reyna. She started watching it only because he asked her to but later up became super engrossed. They discuss theories about the next episode and dramatically act out scenes together, usually late at night.

Leo proclaims his mission in life is to have Mrs. O'Leary and Festus become friends and has set up multiple play dates but one of the two ends up getting spooked and leaving.

After watching Moana for the first time, he plays "You're welcome" on repeat for the next two weeks, much to the chagrin of his friends. He obnoxiously sings "Breathe it in, I know it's a lot. The hair, the bod. When you're staring at a demi-god" whenever he plays the song.

Leo is a member of his high school chess team and is totally considered a young prodigy despite him putting like 10% of energy into the game.

So that's it. These are not angsty at all because I wanted some uwu headcanons for my poor boi.

Annabeth hc's bc she's a queen and it was her birthday

- she loves small snacks, because then she doesn't have to sit through a whole meal.

- she eats very slowly. wait hear me out. so one day she and Percy are going to sally's house and she's made like a lot of food and Annabeth, being a foodie, pretty much takes everything, but takes over an hour to finish.

- she's a foodie, and likes Indian street food a lot.

- she rocks out to Olivia Rodrigo. she's singing with full emotion," and good for u its like u never even met me, remember when u swore to god i was the only, person who ever got u ,well screw that and screw you, you will never have to hurt the way u know that i do," and poor Percy is wondering what he did to deserve it

- she also loves taylor swift and usually plays it when she's studying

- she has a ton of erasers but never can find them and alll er sketches become super messy. then she goes to percy and borrows another blue eraser.

- she uses the click pens and pencils and when she brainstorming, she clicks it a lottt.

- she has coloured pencil lead

- her notes are super unorganized, she just dumps everything into a folder

- her room is super messy, but she manages to find whatever she needs

- she has a whole photo wall filled with polaroid's to remember her friends, old and new. there's goofy pictures of her with silena, and right next to that a similar one of her and piper

- her desk is filled. there is literally no space and she ends up working on the floor

- she has a rack for her clothes and that's it. she wears the same 4 pairs of clothes over and over again until piper forces her to go shopping and they get her some new clothes

- barely ever lets her hair down, its always in a messy bun or ponytail

- always steals Percy's hoodies, its like "Annabeth have you seen my sea green hoodie?"" uhh no definitely not" and she's wearing it. to get back at her Percy steals her hoodies so they just end up wearing each others hoodies.

- she loves silver jewelry, especially the rings, like the snake one

- she loves animals

- she also loves Estelle and if Percy doesn't get her, they both sulk at him

- nico and her are pretty close as well and they bitch about will and percy sometimes

Both athena and frederick are brown (frederick has a Indian mom)

Even though she's gujurati she doesn't really speak it. She tried to learn once but she couldn't get through it. She only knows Hindi because that's the language frederick spoke at home most of the time. 

Frederick calls her Annu

She loves to read about mughal architecture. Her favorite period is shah jahan's reign. She can talk about the different periods for hours on end.

Whenever she gets really really mad, like fucking enraged she starts ranting in hindi and no one can stop her

She also used to swear in hindi a lot. So much that eventually chiron learned it to make sure she didn't do it. She still does it when he's not around. 

Along with sea-weed brain she calls percy "paagal" and when she's really angry and ranting "akkal wagar no" which is one of the few gujurati phrases she remembers 

She listens to the soft Bollywood songs and usually complains about how they make no sense. She'll never say it out loud but she listens to it because it feels like a connection to her dad.

She eats olives from a jar for flavour and she absolutely loves spicy food. She can easily eat the food that makes a lot of the other campers almost cry.

Who is Jamila?

The Two Prince’s Discord is going a bit Jamila-crazy right now, so before we start getting into that, let’s talk about who Jamila is!

This is from Kevin Christopher Snipe’s (KCS) q&a on Instagram from March (thank you @oftheflamingheart​ for keeping track of all the q&a’s!)

Jamila definitely knew he was going and kept his secret.

She was banking on that earning his full affections.

But then, Rupert Fitzes in.

She was scared for him but kept the secret.

She pretends to hate Cecily. But secretly wishes she could be more like her.

She talked about kids too early, and that put Amir off. Not that he didn't want to do his Royal Duty, but she was more into it than he was.

Do you think it was a "royal duty" thing for her (of course we'll have heirs) or like a "I can't wait to be a mom! I love kids!" sort of a thing?

Maybe both? She thinks he's concerned about heirs (always plural) and secretly she is so into being a mom.

Do you think Amir knew she liked him? Do you think he liked her back?

I think he was probably a bit oblivious. Thought she was too young to be serious.

Liked as a friend? Well we know he never had time for those. But as someone he interacted with? Probably, but he never could open up to her and she knew he was holding back something.

They were probably really close as young kids, and then he had to be little Mr. Best Prince and she always kept trying to get back onto his level.

She joined in his lessons just to have more time with him.

But he was always too busy to notice/appreciate that she was there. She's got to be a daughter to either a high-ranking lord or official. So he probably just put it down to her trying to be the best heir to her father's lineage.

She's gotta be super competitive.

I just wonder what his level of trepidation would be at introducing Rupert to her as his fiance.

He probably would think she'd be excited for him.

I'd like to see her come to terms and accept Amir's relationship with Rupert. See just how good Rupert is for Amir and how free Amir is with him. That's what she never got from Amir. But Amir is more himself with Rupert than he was with her.

Then she sees this goofball knight's kid and decides to see if she can find herself a Rupert.

That does mess with my "PJ was a closet case" headcanon, but I just want the worst people to be happy for some reason.

Wait if Percy and Jamila got in a relationship, it would be another East & West relationship brining the nations even closer together. AND Percy was very anti-East before so maybe seeing Jamila made him think "okay maybe Easterners are really super cool"

Do you think she and Rupert would eventually be friends or just constantly passive aggressive at each other (at least from Jamila's end)

I honestly see her always having a bit of a sore spot when it comes to Rupert. And Rupert knows and it makes him feel uncomfortable even though they are cordial to each other.

Amir is oblivious to the tension.

I feel like Rupert would try really hard to be her friend.

Jamila is a Slytherin.
