American of Maltese descent Grover Underwood.

Sicily is located in the Mediterranean, so that would give Percy heritage not far from Greece. And I'm also imagining Percy with a stereotypical Italian American accent, and it's hilarious.

Blasian Annabeth Chase, I love it, I just really like biracial Annabeth Chase in general.

And Maltese descent Grover Underwood is real to me, I might adapt that as my own canon, if you don't mind.

Your wish is my command!

For some background, Naturals is about Mother Nature making the spirits of nature to find human hosts so those humans can protect Earth. It was inspired by a mix of X-Men Evolution, Miraculous Ladybug, and Percy Jackson.

The characters I redesigned are Eliza Jay (Great Horn Owl), Flora Wilson (Striped Skunk), and Amy Hart (Not A Natural).

Eliza's redesign mainly boils down to changing her design. All of my original designs for the Natural characters were basic as fuck and not very regconizable. She now has a lot of earthy and neutral tones to her which makes her palette more regconizable considering the rest of the cast as a lot more bright colors.

Flora probably had the biggest change due to how... uncomfortable her original design made me. Essentially it was very sexualized due to my lack of understanding of fashion and my only real exposure to teen clothes was media portrayals.

Her original character was a military brat, but due to... events I'm not as interested in military backgrounds if I can't define them. With Naturals set in America I can't define the military like I can for my own continents.

I moved more towards an engineer and mechanic look for her due to these reasons. I don't regret it at all and her changes were very much inspired by @floof-ghostie love of inventor characters and the Blasian M/i Hats/me headcanon.

Finally I have my Amy redesign which had the least changes due to her own role in the story. She is very much designed to look normal and a face in the crowd because of her ambitions and her one of the people vibe.

She also needed to compliment one of the other main characters due to their romantic relationship which changed her original beige color palette to pink to go along with his primary red.

Enough of my rambling, but I just wanted to talk about my ideas for this book series for fucking ever.

I love weirdo protagonists who have real problems.Hiccup Haddock was born disabled and lost a limb in the first movie and even if he's cis(he isn't),Berk's emasculation of him counts as trans.phobia because it was specifically based on saying he's 'not a real man' because his body isn't 'manly enough' and his personality wasn't either.Stephanie Brown was born poor to an abusive dad and a drug addict mom and grew up with almost no friends despite how nice she is and that led to her letting older men exploit her because all she wanted was love and Duke Thomas is a black kid who grew up getting kicked out of schools and in and out of foster homes because his parents went insane and his actual birth dad is a deadbeat jackass.Kat Elliot is a 13 year old black girl orphan who's wards were abusive so she had to run away after being victim blamed for self-defense and fend for herself.Percy Jackson is the embodiment of audhd people who have never been able to mask and never stopped getting treated like shit for it no matter how many times they prove how cool and smart they are and she had a combo/split of Stephanie and Duke's parental situations.Miles Morales is a 15 year old afrolatino who's really lonely in his civillian life and even his superside and he got a whole speech about how he shouldn't and DOSEN'T DESERVE to exist all because he's not normal and that's shit that happens irl even if not in that exact context

I don't care about Danny Phantom and his high school incelcore bullshit with fan content by people who think he 'deserved' the fat black girl he rejected for a skinny white goth gf.I don't care about Princess Ariel having one bad interaction with her dad and reconciling with him a few days later because she proved she's a real normal straight girl by marrying Prince Midric and might have cute quirky white girl autism.I ESPECIALLY don't care about Harry Potter and the generations of people the franchise liberalized to the point they made a whole subgenre of the racist dead gay wizards from the 70s.I don't want geeks.I want freaks

Grover:The 'wimpy' male sidekick who is emasculated by other guys and is actually a total badass and a sweet dude,just not traditionally masculine and is mocked for it

Clarisse:The mega rough and tough tomboy that starts off as the mean girl but gets redeemed as we learn she's only like that as a child abuse defense mechanism and befriends our mc thanks to softening up

Thalia:The mysterious girl who's talked of cryptically and positively by everybody due to haunting the narrative who we get to meet face to face in a sequel starring her

Bianca:The parentified eldest child who dies for their younger sibling's reverse character development and influences their whole life afterwards

Nico:The soft sunshine boy who's beyond optimistic but also a little shit who runs his mouth,is powerful as fuck,platonic soulmates with the aformentioned salty sweet hot alt girl and has self-identity problems from his starter plot

Rachel:The neurotic frizzy ultra weirdgirl who's not a pick me but rather surprisingly likable and genuinely an activist instead of a racist poser hippie

Beckendorf:The older black male mentor who dosen't get nearly enough screentime due to antiblackness and got an undeserved fate

Silena:The older,wiser girl who's chill and also mentors but in girl things specifically(Percy in her transition,not debutchifying Clarisse)

Ethan:The token developed goon to the Big Villain who's a lot more interesting than them and has way more chemistry with the mc too but is somehow the less popular ship

Jason:The Golden Retriever Boy most popular guy who's a legit example of positive and healthy masculinity that gets (correctly) called a nerd by the cool girls

Piper:The Girls Girl Tomboy that has at home struggles but goes on a journey where she makes real friends and has her queer awakening

Leo:The goofy lil guy who's riddled with sadness and self-hatred but puts on a show to avoid confronting his trauma and gets it resolved with the platonic love he's always deserved(He was done so fucking dirty)

Drew:The Queen Bee with a hidden heart of gold who's a misandrist because she's actually a lesbian in denial and flirts by being antagonistic cause she dosen't know how else to

Hazel:The creepy cute goth middle school girl with wild ass abilities that're specifically to help the plot along and is treated specially by everybody because she's the baby of the cast

Frank:The jittery nervous dude who's nonetheless tough and packs a punch contrary to what the villains think and earns everyone's respect by proving himself as such

Reyna:The 'no nonsense' girl that's perfect but at a dehumanizing level rather than self-confidence and refuses to let her image go because without it,what is she?Just like everyone else?Unacceptable and unacchivable to her

A trope that-Well i'm not sure i'd call it my favorite but it's definitely WAYYY up there and it's 'troubled but good kid'.I'm not talking about pick me girls or generic nerdy white boys,i mean kid characters who're genuinely weird and outcasts-Kids of color and baby autistics and eggs who get adultified,who get mocked and humiliated,who get fitted into boxes they don't want to and they act like real ones do instead of sanitization but that also includes the extreme unjustified punishments and loneliness that comes with.Most of the adults in their lives don't do anything to stop the abuse they're going through or if they're really unlucky,there's straight up no positive older figures to guide them so they're lost and there's no Neverland to fly away to.They gotta become strong,they gotta stay kind for their own sake,they gotta keep their shit bottled up because they feel enough of a burden already and don't want it to get worse,to not be even worse thought of.They didn't do anything wrong,they just tried to be good,they tried their best,but it was never enough for people's expectations

But it pays off.Their strength gave them the ability to be heroes as they slowly got older,their kindness inspired and healed others and they got it returned like they deserved,they were allowed to be a person and not a problem for once and now everyone thinks they're the coolest person ever because they ARE,they WERE,they ALWAYS WILL BE.Was i troubled kid?Yeah,you could say that.Was i ever really Robin?I'm not a role model.All i ever wanted was the normal life i couldn't have.I know-I wanted to show that i'm not so motherly,that i can have fun too.Because us weirdos have to stick together and nobody should be punished for who they are!

They might've never been told they were good kids but they grew up to be even better adults
